[Back where it all started..]

After God knows how many years, I finally decided to make this blog return from the dead with the hope to be active in here. With that, I also reopened the "Ask & Roleplay Box", so ya'll are free to send questions and RP requests. Still, I'd like to point out a few rules which I'd be really grateful if you followed them, so there won't be any misunderstandings + we're all gonna have fun 👌🏻

[So let's get started, shall we?]

If you want to write something that's only related to roleplaying, please write "[RP] (to Giovanni / Ghetsis / Giovanni & Ghetsis)" in every request you're sending me, so I'll know that it's meant for roleplay purposes only. If you want to ask a question on the other hand, please write "[Ask] (to Giovanni / Ghetsis / Giovanni & Ghetsis)

OCs are allowed of course, same goes for already existing / canonical characters. It'd be still great to tell me your OCs name in the request, so I'll know how to call them + use the correct pronouns, etc.

THE ROLEPLAY & ASK OPTION IS ONLY MEANT FOR "POKÉMON" / POKÉMON RELATED CHARACTERS & CONTENT! I DON'T DO CROSSOVERS OR INCLUDE CHARACTERS, OCs AND SO ON FROM OTHER GAMES, MOVIES AND WHATSOEVER!

I can imagine that I might perhaps get RP requests from many other people, so "Ongoing roleplays" can and most likely will be delayed in time. I don't want anybody to feel ignored or left out, so please be tolerant and respectful towards others & keep in mind that I want to give every single one of you the same amount of attention.

I only do the roleplay thing on this blog & ONLY via the ask option. I never use the direct messages here on Tumblr, so I'm just letting you know that I'm not available here for private RPs, especially not via DMs.

I'll reply the way I wish to reply and also the way how I imagine Giovanni & Ghetsis to act. I'm well aware that probably everyone of us has their own imagination of these two, so please keep in mind that I'm portraying them in my own way & the way I enjoy roleplaying as them. If you may eventually not like my way of portraying them, then you're of course free to feel that way but PLEASE DO NOT use the roleplay / ask option for hate! Giovanni:

Dude has class. Not only a successful and feared crime lord but also a swaggelicious Italian gentleman. Don't mistake his polite attitude for kindness, tho.

This man has a lot of patience. Like damn.. Not surprised because he hangs out with Ghetsis after all but even someone like Gio has his limits. He's not easy to anger or to annoy because he mostly either plays things down or straight forward ignores stuff that gets on his nerves but breh, Italian ranting intensifies once he snaps.

If you want to trigger him, just remind him of how often he got his butt kicked by random 10 year olds and I'm sure he'll want to see you dead sooner or later :)

Quite sarcastic & has a dry sense of humor. Definitely laughs at your misery when you struggle with the Silph Co. warp tiles in Saffron City.

Enjoys smoking cigars. Perhaps not that kind of a heavy-a$$ chainsmoker like my OC (Some of you might remember her lol) but whenever he's relaxing, he clearly does so with a cigar & a nice glass of scotch.

Biggest workaholic in history. It's 2am and you want him to go to sleep? No. He's still busy with whatever the hell he's doing (probably doing the casual evil stuff because "Mimimi, I'm SO evil, brb gotta think about more crimes to commit")

Can probably shoot someone who's hiding behind a random tree with his eyes closed because ✨ mafia boss ✨

Smug, charming bastard. He's Italian, so I'm not surprised about his intriguing vibes, lol. He can be quite flirty if he wants to be.

[LITTLE NOTE HERE: I don't mind if the asks or RPs might get a little "flirty" but PLEASE NOT DIRTY! Sure, we all may or may not have a dirty mind here and there but NO +18 & NSFW CONTENT in here 🙏🏻 I don't have a problem with some innuendos or whatever but we know Tumblr's rules: NO PORN. PERIOD.]

Ghetsis:

Just talk about a complete disaster.. I believe we all know that this guy has issues. He's clearly the one who's just here because Giovanni convinced him, yet he hates everyone & everything, including his life after the events of BW2.

Cold, f*cker.. Like srsly. If you manage that he acknowledges your presence (and heaven behold if he even ends up being sorta nice to you) then you must have Arceus' blessings, because usually he only has two moods: He either treats people as if they're dead or he makes sure they ARE dead. Especially when you push his buttons.

His ego is bigger than Celesteela or other huge-a$$ Pokémon. You want a selfish, egotistical, self-centered, manipulative, arrogant & overconfident megalomaniac who believes he has no flaws at all? He's your man then.

Grumpy & easily annoyed by literally EVERYTHING. He thankfully has calmed down a lot (more or less) because Gio forced him to have anger management classes but he's still like a ticking time bomb. He may be chill but the next second he can also try to randomly strangle you for breathing in his presence.

"I HAVE NO SON!!!¡¡11"

Also sarcastic as hell & laughs at anyone who died to his (hacked) Hydreigon. Probably also that type of guy who trips people in the hallway just for fun.

Can also be surprisingly charming and intriguing but I swear to everything that's dear to me DON'T fall for it.. He knows what to say to make people believe or trust him. If he says that he cares, there's rather a 99,9% chance that he actually doesn't.

"I'm a heartless, evil wretch!" (He isn't wrong, tho lol) Totally a Tsun at some point as well

I have a regretevator OC who is an angel cat.

Infodump warning lol:

His name is Jex (yes, he's my self insert, sue me).

He's very destructive (hence why he spawns in the mines floor.) He also can and will explode things. He can enter the elevator. He jumps off the ice cream truck after waving at the player deviously and he flies towards the elevator.

He is (since I selfship with them) dating Pest (the gays fr), Mach, and Spud. He does steal things along with Pest so yes, he technically CAN and WILL steal your coins. He goes where Pest goes (he's severely attached to him), Spud goes, or to where Mach is. He can be an asshole.

His pronouns are He/They/It/Xe/Vi but doesn't care which ones people use for him. As long as they don't call him a girl (he's trans). He's very talented within the arts (music, writing, drawing, and singing).

He has a mood disorder (Cyclothymia to be exact) and it makes his mood switch pretty fucking fast. He's trying to get better at managing his anger but sometimes he just can't. He absolutely hates Gnarpy with a burning passion and has attempted to attack xem on multiple occasions.

He has powers but they are limited (they are linked to his energy. He uses too much, he'll pass out). He has a secondary form which also takes A LOT of his energy (he can only stay in that form for a maximum of 10-ish minutes). He can summon items but that also takes energy. He's a caffeine and sugar addict and if he consumes both at the same time, it will be CATastrophic (hehe cat puns >:3). He can and will pass out due to a caffeine crash or a sugar crash (sometimes both).

His talk sounds are ease to identify how he's feeling because his meows are based on his mood. He does tend to get easily irritated when the player sprays him with water or hits him with a snowball.

He has ADHD (the combined version [ADHD-C]) and one of his special interests is space. He is touch starved (hates to admit it) but doesn't like it when people touch him without his permission.

He can speak multiple languages (Angelic, Hungarian, German, Russian, English [mainly since no one can understand him], and Japanese [he learned Japanese from Pest]).

He's been casted out of heaven due to a false rumor one the day he was supposed to be the next ruler over heaven. He's technically the last angel cat of his kind. He's the way he is because of people being terrible to him. Though, when he met Pest, he felt... calmer... safer... like he can just be himself without judgement. He and Pest clicked instantly when Jex told an NPC to stop bothering him and for them to go away.

He's good friends with Gregoriah, Spit, Bive, and DrRETRO. He dislikes Poob (because of how loud they are), Infected (because he's very curious about Jex and has attempted to touch him on multiple occasions), and he could care less about anyone else. He's dating Pest, Mach, and Spud (as if I haven't said that enough lol). Absolutely hates MR, Unpleasant, and Gnarpy.

Digimon Anode/Cathode Tamer: Veedramon Edition - 5 hours in

Another long-ass title I have to type out. Also, another name that only sounds cool to Japanese people, but to English speakers it's just like "wtf am I looking at?"

Anyway! I started playing the Wonderswan Digimon game! I think this game was an attempt to use the Pokémon model of having two versions of pretty much the same games with a different variety of mons in each. (Only ever seen Pokémon and Yokai Watch do that). I honestly can't remember which version I selected, but I'm only going to do one of them. Judging by the walkthrough I'm using, it seems like this will be a short one. That's already a plus in my book. I'm enjoying myself so far.

Notes:

-First impressions of this game were very much a mixed bag. On the one hand, I really like the art/graphics, but I was very frustrated to not be told wtf was going on, like with Digimon World 1. I did end up picking things up pretty quickly, but I don't think a newer kid's game would ever be this vague. Also, the music is very annoying and repetitive.

-I didn't expect poor Ryo to get so ripped off! Gennai calls him a "chosen child," but then is immediately like "here, have this hand-me-down digivice and Agumon." Lame! I get they're trying to tie it into the anime, but they still could have given Ryo his own stuff. Oh well, maybe that changes later.

-Plot-wise we have a similar issue to Digimon Adventure 02, why can't the OG kids just help? -big shrug-

-I groaned when Gennai welcomed me to the digital world lol. Hate that dude.

-Now that I've gotten used to the battle system I'm having a lot of fun. I haven't played a ton of tactical RPGs (I briefly played but didn't finish Disgaea) so seeing that that was the play style made me a little nervous.

-Already some improvements over Digimon World 2 (even though this game is older): taming digimon is less painful, when you lose in a dungeon you can just try again instead of getting a game over screen, very easy to fast forward through things and the battles aren't as painfully slow, and I haven't hit any annoying storage limits (yet). Earning money, skills, and stat increases come pretty quickly so grinding is satisfying too.

-There's a lot of extra stuff in this game I'll probably just ignore. It seems they wanted this game to be very social, but I don't have anyone to play with, so I obviously won't be exploring the multiplayer features. No clue what the analyzer does.

-I'm 4 dungeons in and there are only 13 of them. It's still kinda tricky for me to predict how long this game will be though because I'm assuming future dungeons might take many tries.

-Sooo this game was officially released in English by Bandai Asia, but I don't think the US ever got the Wonderswan, so I guess it was for English speakers in the East only. Weirdly I was watching an anime the other day and they suddenly mentioned the handheld. I was like "what are the odds!?" (Anime is Haiyoru! Nyaruani: Remember My Lovecraft-sensei. It's really bad, don't watch it lol)

Were you named after anyone?

Nope. My parents just loved the name a lot and always told me that they'd have called my sister like that again if it had been possible 😅. Fun fact is that they never EVER call me by my given name, but by the short version, Steffi.

When was the last time you cried?

Two weeks ago. My dad kinda gave me a scare but it's all good now.

Do you have kids?

My little monsters, as I like to call them 😆. 2 girls of 6 and 2,5.

Do you use sarcasm a lot?

As one of my favorite TV show characters once said : “sarcasm is my only defense.” 😆I love sarcasm and I'll use it as a weapon every day.

What's the first thing you notice about people?

I guess it depends on the reason I talk to them. But I think it's mostly the eyes, they tell a lot. If it's about physical attraction, my eyes love checking out their hands and mouth/teeth.

Light blue (with slight gray tinge) and a large dark blue circle around.

Scary movies or happy endings?

I'm gonna quote parts of Tessa's reply because it's 100% my thoughts: “Happy endings. But realistic ones? I don't know. I'll tell you what. I hate Titanic. Fuck the Notebook. Actually, I'll take scary movies. Love the Conjuring. And Patrick Wilson in it.”

Song stuck inside your head: some pokemon song i THINK from pokemon black and white remixed for scarlet and violet but i can't put a name to it for the life of me (because i've been playing the indigo disk dlc it's so fun)

Favourite food: soup. every single kind (that i am able to eat, because i have Bizarre Allergies, so no soup with added wheat, no soup with dairy unless it's lactose free, coconut milk, or a nut milk/soy milk/etc, extreme amounts of garlic and onion (a little bit is fine for some reason but like. when it's near the end of the ingredients list), and in general no soup that can't be eaten on the low fodmap diet i have to be on or else Intestinal Distress up to and including my breath smelling like sulfur when i burp even slightly)

Last song listened to: hold on i gotta check youtube...attack of the killer queen by toby fox i THINK???

Dream trip: japan for the food, germany to see the immense gaytrans spectacle of berlin, anywhere with a major anime or video game or nerd in general con (i will wear an n95 mask don't worry), canada (in particular prince edward island because anne of green gables is integral to the sunkern-plus system and it's structure), england (to see if bookstores are different and have different selections and also to go to a boiler room party WITH A MASK OF COURSE)...maybe thailand to try out that curry place in the bangkok mall...

Last show/movie watched: i'm watching a lot of movies for class so if you count shorts, it's "mutt and jeff: on strike", if you count full length movies it's "nausicaa of the valley of the wind" (francis george is apparently VERY strongly nausicaa kin, did not expect that) and if you count tv shows either delicious in dungeon or the bernie mac show (underrated fave i swear)

Spicy, sweet, or savoury: all. i love all food. i'm laios kin for a reason (the actual reason is i'm so autistic it makes other people hate me by default)

Last thing you googled: i'll give you five! 1.) "mutt and jeff" 2.) "kieran pokemon" (planning on posting my Kieran Transfeminine Juxera Real theory to my nonbinary headcanons blog) 3.) "suguri japanese name" (again, was looking for proof for Kieran Transfeminine Juxera Real theory but apparently suguri is a surname) 4.) "metamodern" (this was for a class discussion related to movie techniques) 5.) "men who have made love to me" (again, this was related to the same discussion topic because i wanted to see which movie had the first fourth wall break because i genuinely thought it was mutt and jeff on strike)

Favourite game: my personal top three is street fighter 6, pokemon scarlet and violet, and cross channel: steam edition (don't worry, it's the clean version, i wouldn't have bought it if it was 18+; it's an english translation of the clean version of the japanese game called "cross channel: for all people")

The Story of Alopex and Tiger Claw

Do you remember the episode of TMNT 2012 "The Tale of Tiger Claw" where we met the Alopex of this version, who is Tiger Claw's sister and that his actual name is Takeshi and how they became mutants.

After that, de didn't saw to much about her relationship except that that Alopex resented Tiger Claw for their mutation, and that they wanted to kill each other after a fight that they had. Well, because of that, and because I like a little bit the drama, I'm going to write MY version of their relantionship.

So first, as de learn in the episode, they became mutants when they were children after they crossed a Kraang Portal, and the Kraang experimented with them until they finally escaped and joined a circus where they trained their new overhuman habillities, but after sometime they decided to do something else and became criminals.

Until that part, everything remains the same, right? Except that Alopex resents her brother, not for make them mutants, after all they decided to cross the portal together; she resents him for drag her in such inmoral life, unlike his brother that actually enjoys the criminal life.

Alopex grew hating her brother for that, but not doing anything because deep down she stills love him.

It's not until many years later that she tries to convince Takeshi to leave that kind of life, but he refuses to and they fight, after that he wins but doesn't kill her, instead her warns that if she does that again, she would die.

After some time everything goes by as normal, until Alopex decides to sabotage a mission of his brother in vengeance, and the they fight, first with a discussion, and later in a mortal fight.

They were at the same time followed by the police (bc the failed mission of before accidentally left clues so the place could find them) and just as they were entering, Takeshi escaped, hurt and without his tail, but not before hurting Alopex with mortal wounds, he escaped thinking that she will die, but she gets to escape.

Both of them would take that bad; Alopex escaped to a lonely place, far from humanity, living peaceful but training so one day she could kill her brother, cuz after that fight she convinced herself that her brother now is not more than a monster.

Meanwhile, Takeshi would silently cry for her sister, the last remainig of his past life. But after that he would fully embrace his new life, even forcing the people to only call him "Tiger Claw".

At least this is my version of the facts, it can or not be inside the canon of the series (probably not, but dream doesn't cost), and it would explain why in the series Tiger Claw reacted so impulsive and pertubed after realizing that his sister is alive (instead of the usual cold and calculating that we almost always see). And why Tiger Claw didn't make sure that Alopex was alive.

Anyway, this is just my version, I hope you enjoyed reading me, if you agree or disagree with me let em know, I'll be happy to know someone else's opinion. Excuse me for my grammar, I don't use to speak english, but I'm trying!

Hello there! And welcome to my blog!

I've been on Tumblr for over 6 years. In the past I've had several blogs with this one previously being a meme page for Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks' miniseries Band of Brothers.

Now. I still love Band of Brothers, but I decided that I wanted to turn this blog into something more general.

This blog is NOT dedicated to the godess named Sulis OR to Aquae Sulis, known for the Roman baths.

My blogname is just an easy way of writing Suli’s stuff. Gotcha?

Soo, second of all:

What's my name?

My name is Suli.

It's not my actual name, but it's the name I'm comfortable with to put on the internet. So you can just call me Suli on this blog, even if you do actually know me ;)

Now, I mentioned Sulis and that my blogs name is just a version of Suli's stuff

But to those who are fan of James Cameron's Avatar and Avatar: The Way of Water: I'm sorry. My name also doesn't have anything to do with Jake Sully's Na'vi name "Tsyeyk Suli"

I do absolutely love Avatar and I love the connection it has, but it's not based off of it.

Where am I from?

I'm from the Netherlands. I was born and raised Dutch and I'm proud of it! (gekoloniseerd)

So, since I'm Dutch, I feel like I have to mention that the Dutch people seem to be known for their fondness of swearing and cursing.

And I do feel like I also have to mention that I'm no exception.

My blog won't be filled with swearwords though, but I also won't make sure that it isn't. So if you have a problem with swearwords, you should probably look elsewhere.

What languages do I speak?

My first language is Dutch! I'm completely fluent and it's the language I speak on a daily basis.

My second language is English. I was not raised speaking English and I started taking English classes in school when I was about 12 years old. I consider myself pretty fluent in the language, but naturally I still make some mistakes as it is not my first language.

And after that I've had five years of German classes when I was in school, but I can't say I speak the language very well. I do understand it moderately though, but just don't ask me to translate it haha.

What are my pronouns/preferences?

I was born as a female and I identify as a female, so my pronouns are she/her.

I'm straight, and not part of the LGBTQ+ community, but I love and support everyone to be who they are and I will not accept any form of racism or discrimination on my blog! People who comment negatively on those matters will be reported and blocked immediately. No hate on this blog, just love!

So, if people would like me to write anything for the things I listed above, I will surely try, but it has to be okay if it's only written in Dutch :)

okay so my favorite playlist right now...hmm... I'll say it's my "semester 6" playlist, that I named to remind myself I had passed 5 semesters of university before and I could do it again. I just added music that I discovered this semester, or that I listened to a lot

Ongeveer / Eefje de Visser: okay i added this one bc we were sitting in a cafe at the exit of a concert venue when people started coming outside and we asked them what concert it was and they said Eefje de Visser. The Paa-san Paa-shi discourse is similar to how Lucio calls Sandalphon San-chan, but Belial calls him Sandy, but both are the same in English, even though, like with Percy, one just annoys him while the other one would probably make him throttle you if you called him that

Yeah pretty much the exact same issue.

I know they can't really go around that as long as they decide to translate the nicknames, but those two in particulars are unnerving.

Paasan and Paashi annoys me a lot as a Paa fan, mostly because by having both nickname translated Percy it really loses how personal Paashi is and that Percival isn't like, just giving a pass to his family (though he is) but also just that the nicknames are very different. Like, when Vane first calls him Paasan Percival blows up bc "what sort of stupid thing did you do to my name" which doesn't really track if it was the same nickname as the name his family lovingly give him (though he would still be mad at Vane calling him that, he just wouldn't be this offended by it) but yeah ultimately to me it's when Belial started to use it that i got upset the difference didn't exist in English, because there's miles between calling someone a nickname everyone call shim as, and specifically crossing bondaries that only belongs to his family yaknow? esp since in the fight, the line he calls him Paashi in is "The perfect kingdom? Don't make me laugh. You should be thankful, Percy. I've saved you from heartbreak, and a long search with no happy ending.". Which is especially making fun of Percival on the promise he made his mother, so rubbing it with the nickname his mother used on him is another level of vile yaknow?

Sandalphon's situation is similar, though it has less of a double reading of "it's because one nickname is okay for people who matters to him", he hates both nickname, but both do serve a different purpose yeah. Sanchan is much more affectionate, which makes the fact it's Lucio doing that to be just very annoying for Sandalphon, and Sandy is just shortening his name*. But it does kinda stop at it being two equally as annoying nicknames. I do think it would have been better to make them different though, if only so no one would think Lucio reminds Sandalphon of Belial or vice versa. Letting Lucio being hated on for his own merits yaknow?

* (though i have an overreading for this one, over the fact that all the angels have a name ending in "Eru" (or "aru" for Belial), including Lucifer (bc his name is an alternative pronontiation on Lucifer, Lucilius's name is the official pronountiation of Lucifer, as rushifaa), and "eru" being the Japanese pronontiation of the suffix "el", which, in Hebrew, is originally the suffix to say "of God". All of the "eru" angels are angels who answers directly to Lucilius, so they're "of their own God". Meanwhile the two angels who don't fit this patern, Sandalphon and Metatron, are two angels defined by their loyalty to Lucifer and being outsiders to the rest of the angels Lucilius originally planned to use. So an argument could be made that the suffix "on" there is representing a distance from Lucilius and their loyalty to Lucifer in a sense. With that overreading in mind you can read Belial's nickname as a way of stripping Sandalphon from Lucifer's connection. Albeit, he calls every angels a shortened version that cuts the "el" too, so something something Belial removing them from belonging to Lucilius as well so he can be Lucilius' one and only and/or to "give them back their own freedom". This was the overreading corner which was probably not intended by canon but it's not like anything disproves it so, like, have fun with this one?)

so yeah this is kind of a shame how some of the nicknames really lose their nuances due to the translations. I'll never forgive the Paashi one but i'm a Paa fucker, i overthink everything, so. well.

but yeah it's the type of things you might miss unless you catch it by ear, which can be a bit sad imo. alas...

How to Read Whomstve in 2021

Hey Arc, what are you doing?

I'm getting into this thing called Whomstve—

You mean you're back into Homest—

SSSSSSHHHHH don't say its name!

It's Complicated.

So if you don't know, here is the abbreviated version: I started reading Whomstve on the day it ended, the day of the final [S] Act 7 animation, because I watched it on a whim and said "man this music is fucking rad, I should finally try to read this," and then I did.

Then, a few years later, after the completion of the story, Hussie and their compatriots released The Home/stuck Epilogues, which were bad. They were very, very bad and in a specifically very hateful, vindictive way, and they essentially decimated the fandom. Many people left within a month. Most were gone in a year. And they were right to, in my opinion.

(You know how Game of Thrones was the cash cow Cultural Moment and then the finale happened and it fucking vanished from popular consciousness? It was like that, except imagine GOT had a decent ending and people kept enjoying it and then three years later they released a new ending that ruined the show. That's the Epilogues.)

Fast forward to about…. the end of September, 2021. A full 900 days after the Epilogues Happened, I was struck with a thought:

Man. I miss Jake English.

And now, three or four weeks later, I'm into Whomstve.

Okay why "whomstve" tho?

I think my friend Asherinn started this, it was our little way to bitch about the epilogues without winding up on the Tumblr search. Now, to me, Whomstve very specifically means "Home//stuck, before the (Not Actually) Post-Canon content." It's the story I loved.

What I found surprising is that… and this shocked me a lot, trust me: Whomstve is still good. I've done the relisten and it's good, actually. I'm stunned, actually.

When the Epilogues happened, one of the predominate emotions myself and others had was a sense of "were we wrong? was it always bad and we just didn't see it?"

Hi. I'm here. And no, it was good once. And that part still is.

Now you're gonna tell me how to get into """Whomstve"""" right?

Yeah, p much.

I have a few thoughts on this. I'll try to be concise—

Actually I'm impatient, just tell me what to do.

Fine, the short version:

Read Acts 1 through 3, either on the Home//stuck website or using the Unofficial Home//stuck Collection.

Switch to Lets Read Home//stuck starting with Act 4, and continue on from there.

Switch back to the website or UHSC when you run out of LRHS. It'll get you most of the way to the end.

Stop at [S] Act 7 or [S] Credits. Do not read the Epilogues.

Hit me up for fic recs.

Now, the long version.

ONE: Whomstve is best read and understood in archival format, and anyone who tells you differently is incorrect.

For clarity: the "live read" is having read the comic as it was updating. The "archive read" is having read it as a complete, finished story.

I am 1000% certain that being in the fandom during the live update cycle of the story was very cool and very specific and frankly an experience that will never be repeated. I know and respect that.

However, if you have heard shit about how HS is difficult to understand or even impossible or that it doesn't make sense— this is because the Live Read is vastly inferior to the Archive Read when it comes to your reading comprehension. Many of the complaints people have about the story are solved by experiencing it as a complete story, when you set the pace of your read, and you don't have literally months of downtime between updates in which people spin so much conjecture and theorycraft that their actual understanding of canon is hampered.

So. To appreciate the story, forget all the memes and shit, all the fandom history around it, and just read the fucking story, and it will be great. I promise.

TWO: Okay but should I skip to the trolls.

Act One and Two are not very interesting, compared to the rest of the story.

There, said it.

Unless you imprint on the first hero of the story, John Egbert, you can feel free to just fucking speedread the first two acts of the story. Here, I'll summarize what happens:

It's John Egbert's birthday. He has three best friends, Dave Strider, Rose Lalonde (you'll love her), and Jade Harley. They are destined to play a video game named SBURB that unbeknownst to them will end the world. (Kinda, don't worry about it.) By playing the game, they ascend into the game's world. Each of them have to join the game, and the circumstances around them doing so become increasingly complicated. Through Acts One and Two, John enters the game, then Rose enters the game, whilst we learn about each of the kids and start to learn hints about the greater mythology of SBURB.

It's reading through Acts 1 to 3, but like. Briskly. Act 4 is where shit pops tf off.

(Hell there is an in-canon recap I can link you if you REALLY wanna go fast.)

Wait wait you want me to read THREE FUCKING ACTS before it gets good?

No. It's good. It just doesn't get great until Act 4, imo. You know how The Magnus Archives was never a bad show but that fucker took tf off in season three and four? Yeah, that.

Oh and this is important to understand.

Yeah. Trust me, it'll go quick.

(oh and important to note: this isn't even accurate because pages have varying amounts of words. a page can be a 500 word conversation between characters, or it can be a two sentence joke, or it could be an animation. i looked for a word count chart and failed to find one. I strongly suspect Acts 1-3 are even smaller than this chart conveys. anyway.)

THREE: You mentioned that you "listen" to HS above.

I feel like this is extremely and useful, especially because I know a lot of my followers are into audio-media like podcasts.

I have properly read HS three times. I have listened to Lets Read Home//stuck probably about 7 times. It is my preferred way to experience the comic. I think starting with Act 4, you can and possibly should just put on LRHS and experience the story that way.

Why not Acts 1 thru 3? The production values and voice acting from Act 4 and onward are extremely fucking listenable, and occasionally they are even better than just reading the comic. There are no truly Bad performances, only about two I would call mediocre, and more than 15 I would call really goddamn fucking good, and about three I think deserve fucking acting accolades. Also the Hivebent Narrator's voice is hot, I'm sorry.

Isn't it a different experience than reading the comic on the site? Yes, but in a good way. A few years ago, HS as a property was acquired by Viz Media, and a lot of little things in the comic have been altered and lost due to this. Most of the comic was coded in specific languages, and to preserve them, Viz has uploaded a lot of shit to Youtube, which…. loses something very real to the story. So if you are gonna lose something, why not also gain something by listening to Lets Read Home//stuck?

(Hilarious aside: I just tried to run [S] Cascade on the official site to grab a screencap and the fucking embed crashed. GOOD JOB VIZ. God.)

Also if you have not experienced LRHS's Rose Lalonde from Act 4 onward, you are missing the fuck out bc that is an oscar-worthy performance of one of the best characters in the story. I'm not kidding.

But it's not complete! I would say LRHS has covered…… over 80% of the story. And they are still actively updating, actually. They fully plan on finishing the comic and I really believe they will do it someday.

Do you have another reason to use LRHS? Yes. The biggest reason:

The trolls.

The trolls are recurring characters. Several are major cast members. They all have Typing Quirks. Some are readable, like Karkat's:

I cannot read this shit. When I read HS for the first time, I installed browser extensions to literally remove the quirks. But with LRHS, it's fucking read to you, and by people who know what they're doing.

I cannot recommend LRHS enough. I even have ripped MP3s of the whole thing and its in an audiobook on my phone. Yeah. Yep. That's sure a thing I just admitted to. (If you want 'em lemme know.)

FOUR: I don't want to listen to Whomstve, I want to read it, and I'm upset it's not well preserved.

Someone has Done The Fucking Work of archiving the entirety of Home//stuck.

Two downloads, and you will have a self-contained browser on your computer that will let you read all of it. It's very neat and clean, it has helpful configs to change how the font looks if you have issues reading it (however nothing to remove quirks, sorry) and it maintains the multiple games and special animations in the story.

To use it, you DL the main file, then you DL the asset file. It's easy, it's safe, I have a copy on my computer.

FIVE: Stop with either [S] Act 7 or [S] Credits.

This is a matter of opinion, which ending you prefer. Just, whatever you do, do not:

Read the Epilogues

Play the visual novels

Touch literally anything that says "meat" or "candy"

And that's Whomstve! Hit me up for fic recs when you're done.

SIX: Things to know going in.

Like with all media that was made over a decade ago, some shit has not aged well. There is frequent use of the r-slur, until very suddenly it vanishes from the entire comic because presumably Hussie realized it wasn't a funny word. There are a few characters with uncomfortable racial coding, and one that is literally just an fucking Moonspeak Asian joke. She's a minor character really deep in Act 6, I can tell you how to fully avoid her, just hmu. There is one unfunny use of the term "f*g", but the context is a mitigating factor imo. There is also the trouble of Home//stuck trying hard to be "aracial" as in none of the kids have a canon ethnicity. It's as much of a cop-out as you expect, but its something that imo is heavily explored in the fandom. That doesn't excuse it in the canon though, obviously.

The Ultimate Riddle: Why do you care about Whomstve?

That's difficult to answer.

Let me explain one of my favorite things about it. Maybe that'll help.

In Act 5 Act 2 (yep) there is an animation called [S] Jade: Enter. It comes pretty deep in the story, and if you watched it without any context, it's impenetrable. What the fuck is that dog? What's that door? Why is there a meteor? What is fucking happening?

But if you have read Whomstve up to that point, you reach [S] Jade: Enter, and you are given a fucking clusterfuck of a story beat. There is a moment I fucking shrieked to myself because at that point, I understood the language of HS enough that the Thing that happened was simple, fast, thoughtless, but in that single instant explained everything that had gone wrong up to that point in the story. Suddenly I understood jack everything.

This is Whomstve's midterm exam. It's a story that slowly, lovingly, patiently teaches you an entire language of symbology and mythology and mechanics, all so it can show you a dog and a glowy thing, and it can make you shriek in terror because the ramifications are that. fucking. exquisite.

And then Act 5 ends with [S] Cascade, which is simultaneously your final exam and reward. You have been again slowly, patiently taught what feels like an entire language, and for your time and attention, the story gives you a spectacle that

I literally cannot even put into words for you. If I sat you down and showed you, the uninitiated, [S] Cascade, it would be just visual noise. (Honestly, wanna watch it? Go for it. You will not understand what is happening but the music fucks. Enjoy the spectacle.) But if you reached that point organically, it's a fucking present that genuinely, truly wants to reward you for your effort.

So my point is this: the time put into reading this fucking monstrosity of a story is rewarded in a way that no other piece of media has ever rewarded me. I have never so thoroughly felt like I was being given something by a story as thanks for my time.

Also its funny. Also the art can be incredible. Also the music is NOTHING BUT THE FUCKING HITS. Also the gay delight of Rose and Kanaya's conversations in Act 5 Act 2 is unprecedented. Also when you find out why Karkat is talking to John backwards you're going to die. Also Almost Everyone Is Queer and they are all really complex, deep characters, even many of the ones they tried to just make a joke. Also if you're a good person you deserve to experience [S] Synchronize/Unite. Also the slow slow slow slow fucking burn of the story of Dave Strider will fuck you up. Also Jake English is one of the greatest, most complicated, incredible characters ever rendered in fiction. Also you will want to know what your classpect is.

Also there's a lesbian vampire alien who uses a chainsaw that turns into lipstick when not in use. She hooks up with a snooty, hilarious know it all witch girl who's handle is literally tentacleTherapist. Come on.

Whomstve is good. Give it a shot. I'll have fic for you after you're done.

Recently, I saw this interesting discussion thread in Tumblr.... Not from Naruto fandom of Course. But from Mo Dao Zu Shi Fandom. Mo Dao Zu Shi is a popular Yaoi Novel all throughout Eastern Asia.

That whole tumblr thread was just saying what I've been saying about Kishimoto's take on women Characters in Naruto Manga in many of my posts....

Apparently, some stupid pests has started this Misogyny rant in a Yaoi Novel and the OP got Annoyed with those pests. Because those pests are calling the Author (A Women at that) as a misogynist... Believe me, that fandom never got such lame complaints until few months ago.

One of the Reblogger made a Wonderful point which I'll requote it here...

But before that let me give you a preface.... There are 2 popular Yaoi writers in China and both of them are women. One's name is Priest... Other's name is MXTX (Mo Xiang Tong Xiu). But MXTX is the most popular out of the two. Priest also writes Woman centered Novels as well. Whereas MXTX sticks with just Yaoi. What an Irony!!!! A Woman who writes an excellent novel about Woman as well as Yaoi is not popular. But a Woman who writes only Yaoi Genre with very less Women characters in her novels is the popular one!!!!!

So, that discussion goes like this...

I think this is one of the reasons why mxtx is popular, she wrote irrelevant female characters or bitter female characters, both are easy for women to project. She clearly could write strong and independent female characters, but how many in the fandom talk about Ling Wen? If girls here really are honest when they say they want strong female characters, female MC, in battle manga, then Claymore would be the biggest manga here, but no, they're thirsting over boys in bnha. If people really care about strong female characters who have their life together, Priest would be more popular than mxtx.

The Character Ling Wen, whom the poster was talking about... She is extremely a well written character from a Yaoi Novel named Heaven's Official Blessing. She is not that regular power punch girl, smash the enemy and all those non-sense. She is cunning, decisive, calm, quiet and goal-oriented. She had quite an impact on the story to the point of making the Main Character to run around in circles for many chapters, you know.

But I've never seen anyone talking about her in that fandom. Just like I complain about nobody giving a proper credit to Tsunade.. In fact, Ling Wen is more nuanced and layered than Tsunade... Ling Wen has her own Arc too.

And the poster asked a right question about Strong Female Characters.... And I also want to ask the same thing....

Like Why nobody in Naruto fandom talks about Claymore manga which is also a Shonen??? It has a strong female protagonist like many girls want in their dreams and yet... I've never seen anyone talking/citing about this Manga in this fandom????

So, what gives???

People want a strong women character ONLY IN THE PRESENCE OF HOT BOYS.... THEY TOTALLY WANT A MARY SUE WHO WOULD MAKE EVERY MAN FALLS FOR HER STRENGTH/CHARM... Other than that they don't care about story and development.

People like Jiang yanli exactly because she didn't do much, and got an arranged marriage to a rich and good looking dude, she felt like a YA fiction MC who has two boys around her. Priest's characters like Chen qingxu or Zhou Fei are far too competent and useful to project. Strong female characters aren't profitable, look at all these women thirsting after the male actors in The Untamed,

Unlike Sakura, I like Jiang Yanli... But she is just like that OP says... She didn't do much in the story other than offering comfort to the Main Character as his Elder Sister.

But people project a lot into her and expect something that doesn't match up with the narrative. Just like people expecting Sakura to be the Hokage. Just like people make a different Sakura in Fanon.... Jiang Yanli also has a different fanon version of herself.

They say Jiang Yanli should’ve been a cultivator, but Wen Qing had cultivation, they don’t wank her like they wank about the soup girl.

Writing strong female characters for a female audience is such a thankless job. They say they want strong women, but when you write them, they don’t buy it. What they say they hate is actually what they really want. They want weak and average characters for them to project and, also for them to complain about to look woke. They want to have their cake and eat it.

They say they want strong female characters.... But how many of them actually talk about Saori, another female character (an alter ego of Sasuke with same backstory, behaviour and aesthetics) which was also written by Kishimoto?

I got a bunch of new followers (hello 💖) bc of Inktober, and I came across this tag game today (on @vacationgerry 's blog!) so I figured I'd answer these questions as a sort of introduction :))

1. Why did you choose your url?

My name is Danika and a 4 year old English girl once, 15+ years ago, called me Danicat. I loved that so much that it's been my username most places since. It used to be danicat91 bc it wasn't available without numbers, but I hated the numbers so I changed it to the German version Danikatze a few years ago. (it's daanikatze on twitter and ig)

2. Any side blogs?

@danifanatic where I rb stuff is the only active one. I have another where I collect art refs/advice and only to never look at it anymore. And another one where I posted original art but that one's dead too (I don't make enough original art and I prefer posting it here anyway)

3. How long have you been on tumblr?

Since 2012 I think

4. Do you have a queue tag?

for my sideblog yeah. It's "q"

5. Why did you start your blog in the first place?

.. bc I wanted to post nsfw stuff and I heard this is where I could do it hehe. I deleted most of it since then. I had a nsfw sideblog for a bit, but I deleted that too a few years ago bc it was dying anyway and then the porn ban happened and I got sick of it.

6. Why did you choose your icon/pfp?

I love (and in some ways relate to) Shino and he's wearing one of my favourite hoodies in that one. Just really pleased with that drawing overall!

7. Why did you choose your header?

I thought it was cute and Wai just makes me happy :) (She's kinda my air bison oc? My best friend gave me an Appa plushie and it looked nothing like him, and so Wai was born ^^)

8. What’s your post with the most notes?

My dog dad Kakashi comic.. Almost 30k notes now

9. How many mutuals do you have?

Around 15 I think? I've talked to maybe 5 or 6 of them hahah

10. How many followers do you have?

A few thousand, but I accumulated them so slowly that I feel like half of them must've left tumblr by now hahah.

11. How many people do you follow?

12. Have you ever made a shitpost?

In hindsight I guess the dog dad Kakashi comic is pretty much a shitpost ^^;

13. How often do you use Tumblr each day?

Err about 15-30 min every morning and then compulsively checking the rest of the day

14. Did you have a fight/argument with another blog once?

Once, wwwaay in the beginning.. I followed someone who kept bullying one of their friends. I told them said friend didn't seem to think it was funny at all, and they told me to mind my own business, after which I unfollowed them. I've learned to just unfollow people when their blog makes me anxious in whatever way (if I can't blacklist the stuff that makes me uncomfortable)

15. How do you feel about “you need to reblog this” posts?

I skip those very quickly, or maybe see if I can rb another version.

16. Do you like tag games?

Yes, but tagging other people is bad for my anxiety :P

17. Do you like ask games?

Yeah! It's been a while since I've done one

18. Which of your mutuals do you think is Tumblr famous?

honestly i love how they talk about kaz's cane like it's the scariest weapon ever (which it kind of is)

nothing will ever disappoint me more than finding out that in english their gang name is "the Dregs". like i don't even know for sure what that means

in spanish is "Los Indeseables" (the undesirables?) which sounds a lot more badass

no hate tho i like the dregs

but i was confused af bc i expected it to be sometihng like "the undesirables" or"the unwanted" or whatever

and it said "the dregs"

which in the translator means something like shit or something

That Kaz had chosen Jesper to be one of his seconds was no surprise. Twitchy as Jepser was, with or without his revolvers, he was at his best in a fight, and she knew he'd do anything for Kaz.

idk why but i just love it every time kaz implies or shows that he cares or trusts jesper

But every one of Inej's senses told her that was not how this was going to play out. Her father would have said the shadows were about their business tonight. Something bad was going to happen here.

Though he'd trusted her with his life countless times, it felt much more frightening to trust her with his shame.

Inej had once offered to teach him how to fall. "The trick is not getting knocked down," he'd told her with a laugh. "No, Kaz," she's said, "the trick is in getting back up"

inej is smart af

Kaz was usually unshakeable during a job, but now he was on edge, and Jesper didn't know why. Part of him wanted to ask, though he knew that was the stupid part, the hopeful farmboy who picked the worst possible person to care about, who searched for signs in things that he knew deep down meant nothing - when kaz chose him for a job, when Kaz played along with one of his jokes. He could have kicked himself. He's finally seen the infamous Kaz Brekker without a stich of clothing, and he'd been too worried about ending up on a pike to pay proper attention.

ok i got a couple of things to say about this part

first of all it makes me so sad that jes cares so much for someone who dosn't deserve him. because no hate to kaz but they would never work as a couple and kaz already treats him like shit most of the time

i think this part shows who a lot about who jesper really is. a boy that grew up having to hide parts of himself, who thinks he's worth nothing but it's smart and capable, who's loyal and brave and caring but doesn't even know it himself. he's someone who feels he doesn't deserve good things and thinks he's not good enough, and that's why he unds up in all the wrong places with the wrong people. he left uni bc he fell in with the gangs, because he didn't think he was smart enough or even prepared to be in studying in the university. jesper is constantly hiding behind a mask or running from things because he's scared of not being enough

an kaz is everything jes in a way wishes he could be. kaz is secure in himself (at least on the outside), he's stable, he's smart, he's "unshakeable". and most of all, he doesn't care about others (we know that's not true but that's how he presents himself)

and that's the thing that causes jesper all his problems. because he's insecure because he thinks he's not good enough for the poeple or things he cares about. and he's always trying to do what's best for his loved ones: he went to the ice court to pay his debt for his father, he follows kaz everywhere beacause he cares about him, he offered to read to wylan (knowing it wouldn't be easy for him to be still that long).

and yeah it often doesn't work out becuase he's messy and he has problems but he tries. and he hates that. he hates that he cares so much about people because at the end of the day, that's what makes him feel like he's not good enough

one more thing and i'm done i promise

unpopular opinion but i love that leigh made jesper have a crush on kaz. 1 beacuse it's refreshing to see someone not get otgether with his first crush. and 2 because i love that it shows that we sometimes get attached to people that are not good for us, but that we can learn to move on. jesper ended with wylan who respects him and values him, unlike kaz
