I propose to you, the core four being poly but Tim is the last person to realise.
Dick, visiting Tim at the tower: Hey buddy! You got something you wanna tell me? Tim, laying on the couch with his head in Kon's lap as he reads case files: No, why?
Wally:
Tim:
Wally: Why did my Uncle's Grandson just kiss you goodnight?
Tim: Don't shame him, he's adjusting to being in the past.
Diana: When did you and Cassie get together?
Tim, ever oblivious: Like, three years ago. You were there when we formed Young Just Us, weren't you?
Tim, venting to Stephanie: And like, that year was so hard because two of my best friends died! Weirdly enough, their deaths were way harder than like, anyone else's. I mean, I tried to clone Kon for some reason! Stephanie: God, I can't believe we ever dated, you're so stupid.
Damian: Drake, I have been informed that it is customary to wish queer people a happy pride month.
Tim: I mean, yeah. Why you telling me though?
Damian: In order to repair our relationship, I did some research and according to Father, you are bisexual and polyamorous. Therefor, I wish you a happy pride.
Damian: Drake? Why does your face look more ugly than usual?
Tim, reevaluating his entire life: OH MY GOD-

Hello,
(without judgment) may i know why you like tim? i mean the reasons why he is the "best" robin for many people, (according to you). You seem to really know his character
(my english is really bad, sorry)
Ah, okay, so this seems like a serious ask, so I'll sit down and actually answer it.
I like Tim because, at his core, he believes he is a good person, and does good things. Is this true? Well, in most cases, yes. His morals can be loose sometimes, and he's always this close to snapping and becoming a genocidal dictator, but his conviction that he is a good person and those aren't "good person things to do" stop him. He's silly and dumb and so so complex and seems generic on the surface, but I swear he is so, so much more.
He's undoubtedly a good Robin. He was the first to get the Robin suit pants (thank God for that, though the scaly shorts were cute), and his writers loved him and loved Robin. Tim’s hardworking, a fast learner, kind, canonically the most intelligent Robin and a better detective than Batman himself. (Not to say any of the Robins are stupid, they're all intelligent and amazing detectives, but this is Tim’s thing, y’know?) I consider him the best because he was diligent and reasonably cooperative (at least cooperative enough that it didn't interrupt the mission), intelligent, compassionate, a good fighter, and quippy, all in perfectly Robin-sized proportions. He did a lot as Robin, achieved a lot, and that definitely adds to my conviction.
He's also got his own personal agenda half the time that he pushes secretly or blatantly, depending on if it'll cause problems that will stop him from achieving said agenda. He thinks out of the box to achieve his ends, and has a ruthless streak a mile wide. He's also such a loser yet makes fun of others, and that's hilarious to me.
For me, at least, he's just...relatable. He's flawed and bossy and sometimes paranoid and a Batman and Robin (then later, Nightwing) superfan and he's funny and tends to overthink a lot and he fails, sometimes. The narrative tends to be kind to him, and many characters admit he's likable or at least worth their time (I'm thinking of Lady Shiva here, basically training him because she basically thought he was batshit insane ("thought outside of the box" or whatever) and that appealed to her). He's what I call little-brother shaped, in that he's annoying in a way that you're accustomed to find endearing.
Tim has good relationships with a lot of fan favorites, batfamily members or not, and has a tendency to get in other people's business with the insistence he can help. People, whether with shock, humor, derision or resignation, tend to let him, leading to his genuinely ridiculous amount of teamups. He's friendly and fun(ny) to be around generally, even when he's moping. (See: Red Robin 2009). He was remarkably popular in school but too wrapped up in Robin to take up the many, many invitations to hang out he got daily. He's a nerd but hates school and dropped out. He's unable to stay in one place, maybe partly due to him moving apartments a lot as a child.
...I'm rambling. Anyway, here's posts that get into Tim's relationship with his parents. These next ones are about Jack Drake; one that I agree with probably due to my father being a lot like Jack Drake, one that's kinder to him than I'll ever be, but looks at it from both angles and I agree with the harsher take, and one that's got a lot of Bruce but a lot of Tim about Jack as well. TDLR; Tim's dad was shitty, but not shitty enough for anyone whose name isn't Dick Grayson to really...notice? Or do anything about? Which is relatable to me, at least. Jack dies when Tim’s 16, kicking off the worst year of his life.
Tim's also got average parents that tend to be on the side of bad, in Jack's sake. His parents weren't shown on-panel a lot, but from what we know, they ship him off to boarding school once they can. (Which, hey, no judgement, better than leaving him alone) He stops going to boarding school when he's uhh, 15-16. He's 13-14 when his mom dies and his dad is sent into a coma. He mourns her. Jack gets out of his coma eventually, dates then marries his much-younger physical therapist who's a better mother-figure to Tim than Jack is a good dad, is a shitty dad (he knows barely anything about his kid yet keeps exerting control over him, he lets Tim down time and time again, he's shown to have violent tendencies though it's worth noting he never hits Tim on-panel. Some of this can be attributed to him and Tim just being different, but Tim's his son. He should put in more effort than he does.), makes up for it a bit, then dies.
This sounds like Tim propaganda, and it is. He's forgiving and sarcastic and very quick to make nice with people that've hurt him in the past. He's also got a chronic case of Youngest Child Syndrome due to him being the youngest for so long, so he's there's that undertone of brattiness/entitlement when interacting with the older family members he's close to, that screams he's used to being put first and expects it, even. It's endearing though. He loves his friends and his family, makes sure to let them now, and makes sure they know when he feels unloved so they can fix it. He proudly parallels Dick and quietly parallels Bruce, and is the most Bruce-like off all the batkids. King of compartmentalization for the mission.
(Also, he's bi and I see him as heavily ADHD/autism coded (a bit of both in my opinion) he's also absolutely insane btw.)
He's just!!! I'm so fond of him, and I see why other are too. He seems over-hyped, but like...he's genuinely amazing. He didn't create the Robin mantle, but he gave it so much life and joy and he deserves the world.
Also dw your English is perfect here!

Clubs were not Tim’s thing. Even when undercover, he preferred to avoid them. But a networking opportunity was a networking opportunity, at the end of the day, and there were cases to solve and contacts to be established.
Alvin Draper, young art thief, was probably someone who enjoyed scenes such as this, though, so here he was. He already wanted to find a hole to crawl into and never be found. At least this place didn’t have too many flashing lights and loud music. It was a little more high-end. It wasn’t too different from being strong-armed by the Drakes into attending galas where he was toted around like some doll to show off. Except this time he wasn’t a doll, and was doing all the charming smiles and asking all the right questions all by himself.
A familiar song and dance, by now. This time will be no different. He brushes past the bouncers easily enough — his fake ID might as well be authentic with the work he’s put into it — and he’s making his way towards the central bar in order to have a decent view of his surroundings.
He knows exactly what kind of people actually frequent this place. But he has to play his cards right, or this’ll all be a bust. Mask or no.
Alvin smoothly slides into a stool close (but not directly next) to one of the younger socialites that frequented this place, and waits. Orders himself a drink, puts forth the purposeful energy of someone new that was going to act like they belonged until they did. That’s what Alvin does, after all. Fake it ‘till you make it, or not at all.
“Perfect night to stay indoors,” a passive comment, not exactly directed to anyone, and a typical conversation starter. No one actually likes to talk about the weather, yet they do it anyways.
Felicia Hardy was what the tabloids called a party animal. She was always in one picture or another, stumbling out of a car or a nightclub, clinging onto friends with similar wealth, or acting like some sort of accessory to a less-than-favorable guy who was probably suspected of some crime. To do what she did, you had to have discipline. No, we aren't talking about partying.
You had to be able to position yourself around people convincingly. You couldn't be smart enough that they cottoned on. You had to play stupid and playing stupid was really hard. You couldn't dumb it down to the point of being unbelievable. Then you would be caught. No, you had to be ditzy enough to seem blase without seeming like a poor attempt at comedy.
You also had to dress the part. This was the easiest because Felicia loved getting dressed up and she was the kind of girl who just knew it in her bones that she looked good. She didn't have the be the prettiest. She just had to have the confidence that she was. It did a lot. Take tonight for instance, the slip of a blue dress that was dangerously sheer and dangerously short with slits on either side that almost reached her hips. The kind of dress that did two things; brought trouble and made people think you perhaps relied on your physical assets because you didn't have much else other than money and looks. She could almost laugh in their fast sometimes as she twirled a lock of hair around her index finger and giggled 'what's that?' to the most simple of things. They didn't know they were going to be in some sort of financial ruin once she was done.
Tonight was one of those nights as she danced against the bar and held her fingers up for three more shots. She heard the voice next to her as she glanced at him through sharp winged eyeliner. A Felicia staple. "It is always summer inside, baby!" She said over the music before her eyes narrowed. "Baby, you are in a club. No one cares about the weather." She looked him up and down before her eyebrow quirked. "First time?"

Since you wrote Christmas with tha Bois are you planning on writing a New Years Eve fics too 🎇🎉?
*insert surprised pikachu meme*
now I am (!!!)
They are all required to go to a Wayne gala that Bruce has thrown since before he took Dick in as a ward. It’s important. So of course, I wanna show what kind of suits they would wear too. (Indulge me lmao) [none of these images are sensitive. Tumblr is an idiot]
Tim
Tumblr media
Okay I get that you wouldn’t think high strung proper Tim Drake Wayne , Mr CEO, would were a pretty casual suit. But he wears a suit everyday and by golly, he isn’t wearing a tie for New Years freakin Eve. It’s something different and he can relax. And he’s so tired of black. Plus the blue brings brings out the color in his eyes.
—————
He adjusted the collar of his suit. He always wore a nice suit to work. But this was for a gala. The tie just wouldn’t lay flat. You walked up behind him and pulled the offensive fabric off and tossed it on the bed. He moved to protest but you started unbuttoning his collar.
“Okay,” he said with a slow smirk. “But it’ll have to be quick.”
“I’m just fixing your shirt,” you said rolling your eyes. “I’m not messing my makeup up before a gala. That looks nicer. I never see you relaxed,” you said leaving your hands on his chest longer than necessary.
“I relax sometimes. I’m relaxing tonight. With you,” he said turning to give you a quick kiss. You smiled and he took a look at your outfit. “I’ll have to keep my eye peeled though. You’re going to attract a lot of attention in that.”
“Too bad I’m already dating a man they couldn’t possibly compete with. Come on, lover boy,” you said and he took your hand before going downstairs.
It was always stressful to first go to a gala. Tim was moderately famous as Bruce Wayne’s heir, heir to the Drake family fortune, and the acting CEO of Wayne Enterprise. Luckily this was very boring to most young people and his pictures were in a small section of the business page of the papers rather than like Dick Grayson being splashed all over the lifestyle section like a celebrity. But cameras flashing as you walked down stairs in heels was terrifying. Tim was the only one to notice as you gripped his arm like a vice each time.
You could usually smile and drink champagne as Tim talked shop with the old men he worked with or young men who were trying to climb the business ladder. Tim’s fingers made idle circles in your hand or on your back as he talked. He was also taking glances at you in you outfit all evening.
Only when he was desperate for a break would he ask you to dance. Tim was a good dancer. He had been taught at an early age. But he was not a natural and he didn’t want you bothered with more photos. You insisted after a full hour of talking about some sort of quarterly investment opportunity that he take you to the dance floor.
“Dance with me, Timmy,” you asked quietly in a lull in the conversation. It was almost midnight anyways. He smiled at you before looking back at the men.
“Excuse us,” Tim said before letting you lead him to the floor. He gently held your waist and you wrapped your arms around his neck. The song was fairly slow so you barely danced more than a sway. That was fine. You were more interested in staring in to his ocean eyes than cutting a rug.
“Sorry if it’s been incredibly boring,” Tim said. “You’d probably rather be doing anything else.”
“Dancing is nice. Seeing you more than 5 minutes is nice,” you said.
“Speaking of 5 minutes, it’s 5 minutes until midnight.”
“No more work talk tonight. Just be with me,” you pleaded softly. Tim frowned for a second before pulling you closer.
“I can do that. All yours tonight. I’ll just punch anyone who tries to talk business to me,” he said.
“Good enthusiasm. Terrible plan. Sweet though,” you said kissing his cheek. He smiled.
“Or we could just leave right after New Years,” Tim said with a wiggle of his brows. You giggled.
“Better plan.”
Bruce had gotten on the stage and the music stopped. You didn’t let Tim go. As they counted down to midnight, you and Tim gazed at each other.
3-2-1
🎆🎇
You leaned your face up and kissed him. Tim held your waist tighter and your wrapped your fingers up in his soft black hair. After just a few seconds you pulled back and smiled at him.
“Happy New Years, sunshine,” he said.
“Happy New Years, Duckie.”
“Let’s get out of here before they see us leave,” he suggested. The rest of the night was spent in his room and you were so glad for the loud fireworks to cover any noise you might have made.
Dick
Tumblr media
Dick has been to 714 galas. He’s an expert. He’s expected to play the handsome charming eldest son. Wearing a beautiful suit is half the battle. Not to mention, he kinda likes showing off a little. It’s New Years. And the blue and grey bring out the color in his eyes so well.
———————————
Dick barely got in the door before flopping on the bed with his detective uniform still on. You sat on the edge of your bed, already in hair, dress, and makeup, and reached over to rub his shoulders. He groaned softly.
Barely off of work and already having to change into a suit for a family event. Dick needed a day off. Badly. He had the next 3 days off of work and he just had to deal with this night. No, he needed to be positive. You hadn’t done anything and he didn’t want to ruin New Years Eve.
You pushed your palm into a knot on his shoulder. He all but moaned. “Thank you, baby,” he said. “It’s these stupid cases. They have been driving me- baby,” Dick said turning to look and taking you in. “You look good.”
You smiled and giggled. “You think?”
“Always, but this? Wowza,” he said laughing. “Im going be showing off the prettiest girl at the ball,” Dick said sing song. You rolled your eyes with a grin. His compliments were usually over the top.
“Yeah, yeah. Not likely. You need to get dressed or I’m going to be very fancy for no reason,” you said and he hopped up. Dick was overworked but he always was. In record time he was dressed.
“Do you want to drive,” he asked hopefully. A quick 30 minute nap would be awesome.
“I can’t drive the Porsche since it’s stick,” you admitted.
“Well in that case, I’m teaching you soon. But not tonight. You gotta learn how to drive my car,” Dick said and you resisted the urge to roll your eyes. You added that to the list of skills he thought completely necessary that hardly anyone could do anymore. Could you even buy a new standard transmission car?
“Sure, hun. Let’s get going before we’re late,” you said kissing his cheek. You straightened his pocket square and you were both out the door.
“-and then you push the clutch. Right here,” he pointed at the floorboard as he drove.
“Not tonight. We can do this some other time. And if we don’t get there, it’s fine,” you said evasively.
“Ever? It’s important to be able to drive any kind of car and if it’s just you and the Porsche,” Dick said with a frown. You could see a contingency plan forming in his head.
“I very much doubt there will be a situation where I have to drive your car,” you said with a shrug.
“I’d rather plan for it,” Dick said and you dropped it. It was like a security blanket for him to plan for anything.
Walking into a gala was exciting and nerve racking. Dick was extremely popular back in Gotham and it was honestly weird as he was normal back in Bludhaven. Dick was the perfect gentleman and made sure you felt comfortable and safe when the cameras flashed. You smiled and ignored whatever anyone said about you. It could be mean with jealousy. You were with him for his money, you were just arm candy, and you weren’t that pretty. The first time had hurt pretty badly. Now you had a new ring on your hand and you felt almost as nervous as your first gala. One through the door to the ballroom, you relaxed.
“Are you okay? You looked really nervous,” Dick said and you grimaced. That sounds like nice pictures.
“Just a little,” you said subconsciously playing with your ring. Dick, of course, noticed right away.
“What’s wrong? Do you not want the ring? Or the engagement,” he asked quietly and it broke your heart that he was even worried about it. His big blue eyes were wide with worry.
“Not at all,” you said grabbing his shoulder. “I just don’t like how they talk. I’m very happy. And I love the ring. It’s beautiful.”
Dick’s frown turned to a pleased smile. “Good. Because that was my mom’s ring.”
“Dick! You gave me a family heirloom without mentioning it? That makes it twice as special,” you said shocked. “Thats so sweet of you.”
You leaned up and kissed him on the cheek. “I love it. But if you give me something that important again without telling me, I’ll beat you,” you whispered in his ear and he laughed.
“Let’s dance,” Dick said. He pulled you to the dance floor. He was the best dancer out of all of the Wayne children and possibly better than Bruce. He had been dancing since he could walk. His parents were performers and taught him many dance styles. Bruce also insisted that all the children knowing all the common dances they would need to know at a gala.
Keeping up with Dick was the biggest issues with dancing. He could dance quick dances for hours and you had to remind him that not everyone spent hours a day training and fighting. At the moment you had insisted on stopping to get a drink. You practically pounded a water bottle while he sipped on some punch.
“Kinda floral. Not bad. Little sweet,” he said.
“It’s not alcoholic, is it?”
“I don’t think so. It’s just one glass,” Dick said. “I’ll be fine to drive later.”
“No. It’s just that Damian and his girlfriend have a cup each,” you said motioning over to them.
“It’s fine. They wouldn’t give them alcohol,” Dick said and you relaxed. Of course not. That would be crazy to give kids alcohol.
“Let’s sit down. My feet are getting a little tired,” you said with a wince. He nodded and you sat at a table by the dance floor. As if Dick had put out a sign, a bunch of people flocked over to talk to him.
Somehow a plate of small snacks ended up in front of you, probably Alfred. You ate a little while he played the philanthropist son of Bruce Wayne. It was actually really nice to be ignored.
Until it wasn’t.
An older Wayne investor brought a woman over as his ‘date.’ She instantly latched on to Dick and started flirting with him. Her hand kept touching his arms and shoulders. You were getting mad but this wasn’t a surprise. People acted like he was someone they could grope and touch without consequences.
Finally it was too much and you cleared your throat. She looked at you in disgust before going back to flirting with Dick.
“Can you give my fiancé some space,” you asked politely as you could. Her eyes raked over your body.
“He could do so much better than some poor trash like you in a second rate dress. Not even that ugly little ring could change that,” she said nastily. You gasped.
“Okay we’re leaving,” Dick said standing up. The woman had to back away from him. His jaw was clenched in controlled anger. He had a temper and this wasn’t the time to lose it.
You stood up and hissed as your shoes cut into your feet worse than when you had been wearing them all night. Great, you couldn’t even wear heels in front of her. She laughed. Dick simply picked you up bridal style and carried you out of the ballroom and upstairs to his old bedroom. He sat you on the bed gently.
You knew that she was just a vapid socialite but it did hurt. She had pretty accurately attacked your insecurities and you blinked to prevent yourself from crying.
“Baby,” Dick said bending to a crouch in front of you. “Don’t think anything about what she said. She’s just jealous. Not worth your time.”
“She’s not wrong though. I’m just a poor kid trying to fit in in Wayne freaking Manor,” you said wiping your face. Stupid tears.
“And I’m just a circus kid. Don’t forget that,” Dick said sitting beside you. He pulled you into a hug. “Not a single damn bit of that matters. It’s almost midnight in a minute. Do you want to go back downstairs?”
“Not a chance,” you said with a dry smile.
“I figure. We have a better view anyways,” he said opening the curtains. You could vaguely hear the noise downstairs.
3-2-1
🎆🎇
“Happy New Years, baby,” Dick said giving you a kiss. He wiped the tears from your cheek.
“Happy New Years. Sorry I’m all teary,” you said.
“Nope. Don’t be sorry. My new New Years resolution is to make you smile,” he said with a devious look. His fingers suddenly attacked your sides and pulled laughter from you. He pushed you to the bed in his attack.
“Dick! Okay! Quit!” You shrieked with laughter. He stopped his hands and leaned over you.
“Alright. I quit. But since we’re alone. Wanna ring in the New Years the right way,” he asked with a smirk. You grinned back.
“Got any ideas on how to do that?” You asked back.
“So many. Baby, so many,” before kissing you. Fireworks sounded in the background.
Damian
Tumblr media
(Older 16 yr old) Damian is literally the son of Batman. He’s going to dress like it. Nice and formal and expensive. It was like a form of armor. Homeboy looks like a million bucks. His watch might be. And if a burgundy turtleneck A accents his well defined pecs, B shows the gold in his tan skin, and C the gorgeous green in his eyes, he ain’t complaining.
“Beloved,” Damian said pulling on his jacket. “Come out,” he said in a sing song voice that would have been completely foreign to hear to anyone else but you.
You flushed as you came out. His jaw dropped before he quickly straightened his face. He’d taken the risk of buying you a dress for the party. He’d seen Bruce do it for women all the time. It was practically his calling card. Even Dick had done it a few times. But this was a first for Damian.
“You look very nice. Beautiful,” he said quietly looking away at his cuff links. “Are you ready to go downstairs?”
“Just my shoes,” you said, trying to slip them on and almost falling over. Damian quickly grabbed your waist.
“I got you. I can put them on,” he said kneeling to the ground. He hadn’t meant anything besides efficiency with his offer. But as he slid your foot into a heel and strapped it across your ankle, it felt far more intimate. His hand held your calf a little longer than necessary before switching to the other foot. This side had a slit up to your thigh and he could see your bare leg up close. Damian gulped before attaching the shoe. He quickly stood up and cleared his throat.
“Are you ready now?”
You nodded. He offered his arm and you went downstairs. Cameras flashed for just a few minutes before Damian skillfully steered you away from them. His father would kill any pictures of you before they got to the papers but Damian knew how much you hated them.
“Dance with me?” You asked and he happily complied. He had been trained in several dance styles and was good at it. He also enjoyed the way you would smile when he would spin you. If it made his beloved happy, he was happy. It attracted a little attention. Bruce Wayne’s teenage son and his date could dance with skill. This too was only viewable in person.
“Let’s get a drink,” Damian said pulling you to the refreshments. You were out of breath but happy and followed him. There was suppose to be people handling the drinks but there were so many people. Damian pushed through and grabbed two drinks and handed one to you.
“Let’s find a table,” you said. As always, Damian pulled you along to a secluded corner close to the door to the garden. Cold air and little whiffs of cigarette smoke swirled around but at least you weren’t in the overheated body filled floor anymore.
You sat and drank at your punch. It was heavily sweetened and floral. It was refreshing and... warm. You waved at yourself.
“Is it hot in here to you?” You asked Damian.
“Want to go for a walk outside? It’s cooler out there,” he suggested. Damian took your arm again and you walked out the door into the garden. A stone path lined little beds of delicate plants. Topiaries lined the path. Small solar lights and the full moon lit the garden. There were a few people walking but not many.
Damian looked so handsome. Long dark lashes frames his bright green eyes. His skin almost glistened with silver light of the moon. He bent and plucked a flower from a bush. Damian tucked it behind you ear with a little smile.
“The prettiest rose in all the garden,” he said and you smiled shyly.
“I don’t think that’s actually a rose though,” you said and he laughed. A rare occurrence.
“It’s not. But I was talking about you. May I kiss you,” he said lightly touching the side of your neck with his hand. You nodded and he leaned down. You closed your eyes and his lips brushed against yours. You pressed a hand against his chest.
Damian’s hand slid to the back of your neck to hold you as he pressed harder against your mouth. His tongue slipped in your mouth and you made the softest whimpering sound. Damian’s eyes flew open and he almost froze. That was new and he could get used to the pretty sound.
You kissed like this for a little while. Damian’s hand slid down to hold your waist when he noticed you shivered. He pulled back.
“Beloved, are you cold,” he asked, cursing himself. Of course, you were cold wearing a thin dress while he was in a full suit. He quickly pulled off his jacket and put it around your shoulders.
“Just a little. It’s fine,” you protested. He insisted on sliding your arms in the sleeves and button the jacket.
“Let’s go in. It’s close to midnight anyways,” Damian said giving you one last kiss.
3-2-1
🎇🎆
“Happy New Years beloved,” he said with a kiss. Damian had grabbed another two glasses of punch and you two touched them in cheers.
“No sir,” Alfred said sternly, taking the glasses from your hands. “No alcohol for either of you. There is juice on the other side of the table.”
You waited until Alfred walked away before laughing. “They should have labeled that better.”
“That explains why it felt overly warm in here earlier,” Damian said thoughtfully.
The music had changed to overly sappy and people were kissing and dancing far too close. They were feeling the effects of the alcohol they had been drinking all night. Damian looked at them in disgust.
“Want to go upstairs,” he asked. You quickly looked at him. “Not like that. We can watch a movie or something, anything away from this.”
“Sounds great,” you said and you both left.
Jason
Tumblr media
I’m fairly certain I’ve seen him in a suit like this in the comics. I considered him saying FU to Bruce and showing up in boots and black leather jacket. But Jason knows he looks good in red. And he’d probably get a kick out of wearing one of his suits he wore as Red Hood to a fucking gala. Bruce would know.
—————————
“Princess, if you make me wait any longer I’ll kick down the door and physically carry you to the damn party,” Jason said with no malice in his voice. You opened the bathroom door.
“Not all of us look good without a little work,” you said playfully tapping his chest. You yanked his tie straight with a little more force than needed.
“I’d have to disagree, doll. I’d honestly prefer you in nothing,” he said with a smirk. You rolled your eyes.
“How does it look?” You said with a twirl.
“Like a million bucks. That ass. Let’s skip the party and-“
“No no no. Let’s get going. You can be handsy later,” you said grabbing your purse.
“Promise,” he asked as you both left. The roads weren’t too bad with ice and in fact, it was going to be a rare dry night in Gotham.
Jason didn’t do pictures. He hated them and so you both parked in the servant entrance and walked in a side door. It didn’t matter. The Manor was beautiful no matter how you looked at it. And being a poor kid from Gotham, you couldn’t believe you were actually at a party in Wayne freaking Manor.
“Don’t be nervous. It’s just a bunch of shitty rich people in pretty walls. They aren’t any better than us. Hell, worth half of you, sweetheart. Let’s get a drink,” he said pulling you to the drink table. It was pretty packed but he muscled through to the front. He got your preferred drink. “And a whiskey on the rocks.”
“Don’t get drunk,” you whispered to him. “I won’t sleep with you drunk.”
“With a finger of water,” Jason added to the bartender who nodded.
“Good save,” you said turning to look at the floor. You sipped your drink and people watched.
Dick and his date were dancing some quick steps in the middle of the floor. No surprise there. Tim was talking to boring business men and his poor date looked absolutely bored on her feet. Alfred was watching Damian and his date from the corner of his eyes whereas Damian seemed completely oblivious with his eyes on her all night. And Bruce was currently heavily flirting with a woman who literally meowed at him. You resisted the urge to gag and turned back to Jason.
“Wanna dance,” Jason asked casually watching the floor. But you knew he wanted to dance because he asked.
“Yeah,” you said grabbing his hand. He pulled to to the floor. Jason was also trained to dance as all the Wayne boys had been. But he was probably the worst dancer out of all of them. His parents had never taught him anything as nice as dancing and he’d only lived with Bruce for a few years before the whole Joker thing. But Jason was a natural athlete and his dancing was still pretty darn good.
The dance was a bit slower than the one Dick and his date had been dancing to earlier. Jason held one hand on your waist and the other stayed in your hand. His dancing was visibly polite and innocent. The words he whispered in your ear were far from.
“Is it hard being the hottest woman here? This dress on your ass is fucking delicious,” he whispered and you flushed at his words. “I can’t wait to fuck you in it later.”
He really enjoyed saying things that were completely naughty in public where you could do nothing about it. But you knew that if he kept it up, you’d be finding a spare room before New Years even came. And you didn’t want to miss the fireworks again this year.
As the song ended, and you thoroughly turned on and scandalized, you asked him to walk in the garden with you. Lover boy needed something to cool him down.
“Sure, Princess,” he said snagging 2 glasses of punch on the way out. You both walked between the flower beds and he told you stories of things that had happened there. “And that’s when Dick accidentally cut the top foot off of this bush. Alfred had him scrubbing floors for a month,” Jason said with a laugh. “It was so bad that there is still a rule of no swords in the garden. Damian hates it.”
“I bet he does. But he could probably destroy the entire garden with a pocket knife,” you said with a laugh. Jason suddenly pulled you to the side with a hush. He motioned over a ways.
“Speaking of the kid, look over there,” Jason whispered. You looked over to see Damian making out with a girl his age. It was so weird to see him being so sweet. “I didn’t know he felt human emotion, much less find someone his age to makeout with.”
“They could have said that about you a few years ago,” you said slyly.
“Yeah, point taken. Want the best view of the fireworks?” Jason said.
“Where?”
“Top of the roof.”
You blanched at the idea. “No thanks. I choose life.”
“It’s safe. There’s a ladder and everything,” Jason said hugging you from behind. “Best view in the house. And if not, dinners on me.”
“Jay, you get the check every time,” you reminded him. He chuckled.
“Maybe I’m just trying to get a pretty girl alone to give her a kiss,” Jason said pulling you to the roof. You flushed. “Unlike demon boy making out in the garden. I have class.”
“You’re a classy lady. Show me the way before I change my mind,” you said. He took you to a ladder over the library. You pulled off your heels and started climbing.
“Don’t worry I’ll catch you you if you fall Princess. I’m right behind you. Did I mention your ass in this dress? I kinda have the perfect view,” he said. You rolled your eyes before throwing your leg over the side of the roof. Jason quickly followed you.
“Here, wear my jacket,” Jason said throwing the red blazer over your shoulder.
“Oo my knife now,” you said feeling in his pocket and pulling out a sizable switchblade.
“I forgot to take it out of there. I wouldn’t touch it too much,” Jason said taking it out of your hands with a grimace. You gave him a look.
“That’s incredibly gross. Seriously. Do I even want to know?”
“Not really. Look at the stars. You can see them through the shitty Gotham sky,” Jason said sitting on a box. He pulled you into his lap and you were grateful as it was really quite cold. You could see some stars and you leaned your back against his chest and looked up at the heavens for a few minutes.
The music stopped downstairs. It must be almost midnight. You couldn’t understand but you heard Bruce talk over a mic. Then everyone started counting.
3–2-1
🎇🎆
“Happy New Years, Jaybird,” you said turning your head and holding Jason’s jaw. You leaned your head up and gave him a kiss. He held you close and you made out until the sound of a firework had you jumping. You laughed before turning to look. The roof really did have the best view.
After a few minutes of watching the fireworks you heard some lewd noises. Jason looked over at a window near your spot.
“Let’s get the fuck out of here,” he said with a disgusted look. “That’s fucking Tim’s room and the sound of him getting laid is literally the last thing I want. What I do want is to take a bite out of that ass I’ve been looking at all night.”

The Demon You Know
Day 1 Urban Fantasy AU | Magical/Supernatural Creatures | Time Travel
So, something a little off the grid for my first day of DickTim Week 2021. Special thanks to my wonderful babe @vellaphoria for the beta and the incredible peeps on the Capes and Coffee discord (looking at you @themandylion, @strawberryjei and others). Also need to show my undying love for @chippon because babe, we are making it work.
**
When the sun creeps up over the sky in Gotham, then it’s time to GTFO. Capes in the daytime aren’t the usual for the city, and Red Robin has been playing it too late, staying out far past O’s warning to bring it in for the night. So, really, he’s only got himself to blame.
His penthouse perch has seen more use in the last few months since, welp, Gotham and the fact he likes to get away from the team mentality sometimes, like to return to his roots and run the rooftops like when he was still that Robin. His trips to the Manor had become more frequent since B was back in the cowl and things in the family seemed to be returning to some semblance of normal.
Well, as normal as it could get, really.
But all that goodwill and positivity is literally ghost. Red’s hands are shaky and his inner calm is absolutely blown. He’s ducking into his perch to throw his suit off, grab his duffle bag full of sundries and fake idents, then he’s going to hit the airport as fast as he can get a flight the hell out of town, away from the terrifying sight.
(He should just call Bart or Kon or Cassie, tell them he needs an out faster than he can arrange it himself, he needs to get away from–)
He knows he fucked up when the slight sounds, small and metallic in nature, make it past his pulse thumping in his ears.
Like a horror flick, he slowly turns as the front door gives a groan and is pushed open by a very familiar palm.
Dick’s blue eyes fall on him like a ton of bricks, on Red Robin’s feet frozen to the floor, his suit only half on, and no way he can get far enough to throw himself out a window.
Fuck.
“So,” Dick keeps his voice soft, footsteps easy as he steps inside Tim’s penthouse and closes the door behind him, “you finally found me out.”
Keeping his mouth shut in times like this has really saved his ass before, so Red doesn’t say a word, keeps every muscle in his body ready to spring for the right second –
Watching the would-be robber struggle in Dick’s grip, watching the light show brighten overwhelmingly, seeing what had to be-had to be feeding.
“I figured it would be you if anyone, actually, so I’m not really surprised, just… disappointed.” Dick continues softly, only in jeans and a t-shirt since Nightwing was oddly missing from the patrol roster last night.
And Red is apparently the only one that knows why.
“But that doesn’t mean I can just let you go, Timmy,” Dick isn’t stopping, his whole body lax while Red is wound tight, backing away from the man he thought he knew. “I really wish you hadn’t found out like this. I...I had other plans.”
Whirlybirds and pellets aren’t going to help him here. Hand-to-hand and martial arts, aerial acrobatics, none of it is going to make a difference.
His throat goes dry when Dick’s eyes get more and more blue, when his former mentor doesn’t stop advancing, and Red Robin is running out of room to back away.
“I tried to save you, Timmy. I tried so hard to get you away, out of Gotham, even if you went because you thought you had to find Bruce, I’m the one that gave you the compulsion to leave.” The low laugh is edged with something desperate, “why the hell couldn’t you stay away?”
“This is my city, just as much as Batman’s. You taking my fucking cape wasn’t enough,” Red Robin bites out, back thumping against the kitchen counter, realizing Dick had backed him into the corner. “How did you keep it from him? Constantine, Zatanna, all the magic users he has on speed dial and he never figured you out? No one in the JLA or Titans did?”
That makes Dick pause.
“He never had to. He knew what my parents were before they ever died, Timmy. Haley’s Circus came to Gotham regularly. Bruce always knew.”
The information blast hits him painfully, that Bruce didn’t bother to tell him and look at where they are now.
“And he didn’t try to help you?” Red, Tim, gapes at the still silhouette that used to be someone he thought he knew like he knew himself. Someone that’s always had this secret. “He didn’t try to –”
“Cure me?” Dick’s mouth lifts in a semblance of a smile Tim knows. “There is no cure for this, Timmy. It’s what I am. What my parents both were, the curse of the Romain Bababiljos. It’s unfortunate for me both of them were cursed, that just makes the...the hunger two-fold.”
And it’s just a few more steps, a raised hand that makes Tim flinch back, but only a fingertip taps the edge of the domino, makes the whiteouts raise.
Automatically, with everything he’s learned, studied, experienced about supernatural creatures, he ducks his head so he isn’t looking directly into those eyes. That doesn’t stop Dick from bracketing Tim in, both hands on the counter, their bodies a breath apart.
Dick laughs softly, close enough for Tim to feel the breath on his face. “The Titans...I never had to tell them. By then, I could control myself, at least mostly. The JLA? I’m one of the Batman’s proteges. I’ve been fighting crime since I was eight. They believe in me. There was never a reason for any of them to look too deeply past the surface.”
“Wh-what do you mean mostly?” Tim’s heart slams in his chest, “how many people have you killed, Dick?”
“Do you have any idea how awful the hunger is?” And the lower Dick’s voice goes, the harder Tim’s heart starts to pound. “Surviving on hugs and family affection is tantamount to starvation for someone like me. It’s so easy to kill someone during sex because the hunger is so much I can’t control it sometimes. Anyone I’m with is in danger.  That’s why I couldn’t stay with Babs, she’s too human. The one time I came close–”
Dick breathes again and all Tim looks at is the span of throat, thinking of the soft, vulnerable parts, anything he can use to get the fuck away.
“–but I didn’t. I have...willpower sometimes. I drained her so close, though. She was-was so fragile, Timmy, and I was so hungry. I’d been starving for so damn long. She was hospitalized for longer than she’d been when the Joker shot her, and I said never again. But Wally and Kory were...different. I could go further with him without killing them, I could get more full than I’d been in a long time. It was still dangerous for them, but I was so far gone by the time...”
“They’re both still alive. Babs is still alive. Does she–?”
“Remember? Of course not. None of them do. I made sure of that, Tim, so none of them would be afraid of me.”  And the air changes when Dick gets closer, his eyes get brighter, and Tim almost chokes with the almost touch to his body under his suit. “But, you are going to be different, aren’t you? I’m not going to be able to convince your mind that what you saw was a dream.”
“So what? You’re going to make me “disappear”? You’ll give Bruce some sob story about how I got tired of the vigilante life and left for college or some shit? Going to bury me where no one will ever find me?” He isn’t looking at Dick’s face, can’t see his own end coming, can’t believe he’d put all his faith and belief in this man only to have it all come to this.
Tim laughs wetly, blinking rapidly, and everything suddenly comes together. “He won’t ever come looking for me anyway. You made sure of that when you made Damian your Robin. Nice plan, Dick. No one is going to give a shit if I’m never seen again anyway.”
And it’s stupid not to at least try, not to duck and kick out, trip up whatever Dick really is, to break a window and fucking run, try to get Bruce, Clark, Kon and Bart and Cassie, to get anyone to listen to him about what Dick really is, to try to save himself.
(If you’d never figured out Dick was Robin, if you never put yourself in front of him, you’d be safe now. Miserable but safe.)
Even if it’s his own brain pan spitting this out, he knows it’s bullshit.
If he’d never approached Dick Grayson with proof Batman was losing his mind, Tim Drake wouldn’t have reached twenty-one. The way his life was going, he would have probably hung himself long before getting to this stage in his life. If he’d never had Bruce or Alfred or Dick or Steph, if he’d never had Robin, never had Young Justice or The Titans, if he’d never had the Clench, never felt the rumble under his feet as Gotham had fallen, if he’d never had the agony of losing everyone in his life, if he’d never had the drive to prove his adopted father was alive…
The civilian Tim Drake wouldn’t have had the strength to make it through life alive.
So if this is the way he goes out, if Dick is the one that ends it for him–
There’re worse ways to go.
He’s not going to be the Joker’s next victim or Ra’s al Ghul’s heir with a mix of Lazarus Pit crazy. The HIVE, the Light, the mass of aliens he’s fought, any number of Rogue Gallery thugs, none of them will be the ones to take him out.
But this?
His career as Robin started out with Dick Grayson, so maybe...maybe it’s fitting this is the way it all ends.
He sucks in a breath and finally tilts his head up, looks up into those electric blue eyes, and lets his breath out so so slow.
Because Dick is looking at him with watery eyes, with a grimace, with something Tim can actually recognize.
But those eyes light up in his penthouse perch, take on a supernatural glow, Dick snatching his wrists in bigger hands, pulling Tim closer, the heat getting through layers of Kevlar and Nomex. And just like that, he can’t pull away, can’t pull back.
There’s no way to defend himself when Dick pulls him in, when he expects to get his throat ripped out, his neck snapped, something important crushed, for the darkness to take over and his heart to slow down to a sad, weak pitter patter.
He can’t defend himself when Dick kisses him, opens his mouth, and stuns him into going completely slack.
“I told you,” Dick growls softly when he pulls back, bends enough to get Tim laid out over his shoulder, “I had other plans.”
But Tim can’t reply, can’t do anything other than lay across Dick’s back as the Romani love deamon strides down the hallway and kicks open the bedroom door.
**
And if Tim Drake survives until morning, shocking the hell out of the both of them, staring up at Dick’s surprised face and glowing blue eyes, if the soft touch to his jaw contrasts sharply with the bruises and red marks blossoming all over his body from an intense night with his supernatural mentor and best friend, if Dick doesn’t whisper, “finally, finally, my mate,” before kissing him.
If the power Dick drains from him doesn’t kill him, doesn’t do more than give him the most amazing span of unending multiple orgasms to ever happen, if Dick isn’t fully satisfied for the first time in his life. If Dick doesn’t call them both off patrol for the next three nights, carts Tim back to his apartment, refuses him clothes and computers and tech, tells the Titans they’re taking a break from crime fighting while Tim is tied and gagged in his bed, sated enough to listen hazily with half-mast eyes.
If Dick doesn’t hand feed him while he’s getting feeling back in his legs (finally) and give him the full run-down about his parents. If the strange mark on his abdomen doesn’t get warm whenever Dick’s hand is on it, fingers tracing the edges, making those blue, blue eyes dilate in possessiveness. If Tim doesn’t eventually escape with his sanity intact and a little terrified how much his body craves only to have Dick chase after him with single-minded purposes to convince him they’re meant to be.
Then only the man with cameras all over Gotham, waiting and watching with bated breath and fear for his Robins, unmitigated relief when his theory proves true, would be able to give all the details.

NIGHTWING #81
UMM... HOW ABOUT NO.
Ever since Tom Taylor took over Nightwing I have only made a post about one issue of his (I will leave it here Nightwing #78), that issue was beautiful, it was a solid start and the little things that made me feel a bit icky were not mentioned in the post because the issue was good.
Then the issues felt like connectors or just very bland story wise. I had problems with the book also feeling like a Nightwing and (fake) Oracle book instead of just Nightwing. There were many instances where Dick alone could have gotten himself out of situations without Barbara, but because she was there the opportunity to show that he can do things was taken from him. I guess what I am trying to say is that the book has disappointed me but I didn’t feel like making a post because it was too early and this is an ongoing book that Taylor said he planned on continuing for a while, but now I can’t not make a post.
A few days ago, I finally read the Red Hood story in Urban Legends (I have a review for that one too I will link it here Red Hood part 4) and I couldn’t stand how OOC and disappointing the story/characterization has been. I am saying this because I am only reading these two books at the moment, ONLY these two, and all I have gotten from them is shit.
I know it’s still early to say that the Nightwing book is bad but…I hated this issue, I hated it with all of my heart. But now that I am a bit calmer, I have come up with some ideas of what is truly going on with the Melinda situation.
Anyway, let me give you my thoughts.
There are big Wilson Fisk vibes coming from both Blockbuster and Melinda Zucco. Those two will lie, manipulate and be evil every chance they get. They are working together to make Nightwing disappear. I know it. The whole “make us all much wealthier and to extend your power beyond the city” idea does not include Nightwing.
Melinda might not want to burn anything down but she sure isn’t a hero. This woman accepted the position of Mayor after watching Blockbuster kill the former mayor. I understand that talking with the BHPD isn’t the best idea but this woman feels way too comfortable in the presence of a killer.
She is cunning and she has plans, I strongly believe that she might be a villain and that she will betray Blockbuster and take all the power (if it reaches that point) to herself.
Heartless is just another weirdo, he tricks both Nightwing and the reader into thinking that he has a soft spot for kids but surprise! He doesn’t. There isn’t much to say about him, he just has very complex gadgets and doesn’t know how to fight. I don’t even have any ideas about who he might be.
What I know though is that there was absolutely no need for Dick to think that he had “underestimated” Heartless, my love you threw your stick at him while he was looking directly at you, there was a 50/50 chance of him catching it. I swear I don’t understand the need to write him thinking that mostly because Taylor then has Dick swiping the floor with the guy, not only is it a simple fight (for Dick) but it’s also boring for him. Taylor’s writing is so annoying sometimes, he just loves to write extra things that are out of place like the “Tim Drake. Thought of by many as the best Robin” why the fuck did he put that there? Honestly, what was the point of having Dick say that, I don’t read a Nightwing book to have Tim Drake praise. If it doesn’t offer anything to the story that is being told then keep the thought to yourself Tom...
Moving forward the scene in the pier was quite nice, mostly because it’s Dick’s quick thinking that gets everyone to safety, he knows exactly what to do and how to contact the Maritime distress channel.
He has hope for his city, he knows there is good in it and he believes help will show up when lives are about to be lost. I loved that, just like Heartless said, Nightwing IS Bludhaven’s Guardian Angel. Once again, I am having Daredevil vibes from Dick (like from the show)
After the fight we get to see consequences of Dick not healing properly from a shot to the head. He loses his consciousness which is extremely dangerous but luckily Tim is at arm’s reach to help him out of the pier.
There are many things I want to talk about from the scenes that happen after Dick wakes up in his apartment so here we go.
First of all, Bitewing is adorable, she loves Dick the most and was happy to see him awake once more, what a good girl!
Secondly, Barbara, honey, you do not have three names, you aren’t Batgirl anymore, you are a grown woman that needs to move on from a mantle that has other people that can do something else/better with it. And we all know that this Oracle is just the ableist version of Oracle. So yeah…all I ask is for Barbara to move on from Batgirl, Cass and Stephanie are right there, enough is enough.
In these panels we have Dick, Tim and Barbara being kinda dismissive about the homeless kids, and it has been happening for so many issues, what is the point, Taylor? You made Dick a millionaire and you just can’t have him say or think for a second that he will monetarily help those kids and make sure they are put somewhere safe? You are really going to wait up until you have Dick running for Mayor or something to help the kids? I just don’t get it. Kids living on the streets and each time they are mentioned the three heroes of the book act like it’s normal and doesn’t need fixing. What the fuck.
Then we have the gang finding out that Melinda Zucco is the new mayor, the woman has an FBI file and a redacted one! This makes me think two things, either things are like I thought in the beginning of the post (she is evil and very good at it) or this woman is actually FBI and she is undercover (this one is less likely because of what happens at the end of the issue).
What we can see from the file that Barbara found is very little, but in these two pictures we can see that maybe she was put in foster care and x age? Also, she was apparently investigated in April of 20xx, the investigation must have been recent, why would the FBI investigate a minor or college student? What if these files were implanted by Melinda for someone to find them, and for her to have some sort of proof of her lies? If the file is about her being left in foster care or something while would the file be redacted? I don’t know, everything about her is shady and I don’t trust anything from or about her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This could be a complex and very interesting character but Tom Taylor and DC really love to do stupid shit for shock value (more of this later).
All the new information (the Maroni, Blockbuster and now this very shady Mayor) has Dick saying that it is a bit too much for him and yeah, it is too much, you know who could help? Red Hood. I am of course not talking about current DC comics Red Hood, I am talking about the Red Hood that I would love to see, just yesterday I had an ask about who would I like to see working with Jason and I said Nightwing because Dick puts a lot of responsibility on his shoulders so it would be nice if they negotiated and each could work on different crime areas in Bludhaven, if only DC would hear me…
Anyway, now that we come to the end of the scene let’s talk about Barbara’s shirt.
That was unnecessary and not funny. That’s all it was. Yeah, I know it’s a meme and I know it was included for funny ha-ha purposes but I am not laughing. Bruce has been written as abusive towards his kids for so long, Jason, Tim and Dick have been physically harmed by Bruce and writers use it as just something that happens, there are never repercussions for the Bat. And this shirt sucks because Dick was Robin there and he was a kid, so having Barbara or anyone wearing a shirt with Batman hitting Robin!Dick right in front of Dick is just disgusting. What if someone wore a shirt that had Joker beating Jason with a crowbar in front of Jason, would that be a funny ha-ha too? What about Dick wearing a shirt with the Joker shooting Barbara, is that a funny ha-ha? The answer to those questions is no, it’s not funny.
The idea of that shirt shouldn’t have been pitched, drawn or included after the editor took a look at it.
The picture is a meme in our world, not in theirs. And the readers aren’t laughing.
Back to the issue, Dick is left alone in his apartment to rest (seriously? You think the man that showed up to help Bruce in Gotham with a knee brace is going to rest?) but he can’t, he just found out that Mayor Zucco might be trouble for Bludhaven and might be working with not only Blockbuster but the Maroni family. He is not waiting one more second to have a chat with her.
Dick is obviously still concussed so of course he grabs a mask that has a camera that Oracle can view, and of course he enters yet another window without being careful.
Melinda and Audre were obviously waiting for him.
But here is where the real bullshit begins. Dick is unmasked.
I am so mad; it’s been four issues and Dick gets his ass in a trap and is unmasked by a villain? Are you kidding me right now?
But that’s not all, after Dick breaks free and accuses Melinda of being the daughter of the man that killed his parents, she pulls out a uno reverse card and says that her actual father is John Grayson, and that she is his sister.
How about no. Absolutely not. Go away.
Let’s re-visit Melinda’s appearances in the book so far so we can start theorizing about her real intentions or if she could be saying the truth.
Back in issue #78 where she is first introduced to us, after Melinda watches Blockbuster kill the mayor, she goes home and tells her Audre that she is now mayor because Blockbuster did what he does, so she knows that this guy is trash and a killer. But that’s not all, Audre asks her if she came across Dick Grayson to which Melinda answers “I am not ready for him yet”. Audre suggests she talks to him sooner rather than later because she might not have “another chance”, and the issue ends with Melinda agreeing with her while she is looking at a Flying Graysons poster with a red circle framing Dick’s face.
That whole thing? Shady. Melinda, obviously, wanted to talk to Dick Grayson, probably to tell him that she is his sister, but why is there a time limit, why is Audre telling Melinda that she can’t wait too long? Is it because her undercover work is ending soon? Is it because it’s not real at all and she needs to tell that lie in order to move forward with some sort of plan? I don’t know…
In issue #79 Melinda (and Audre) are out in the open with Maroni and they are talking about her becoming the next Mayor, Nightwing was watching from afar so this is his first contact with her. And it might be the first time that Melinda and her friend see Nightwing in action too. I cannot tell if she is aware that Nightwing/Dick Grayson are the same person here.
In #80 she doesn’t make an appearance.
But now in #81 she is taking her place as Mayor of Bludhaven, there Commissioner McClean takes her somewhere she didn’t expect to go (she is shown not knowing that Maroni and Blockbuster were in the next room over). Once in the room she refuses to take the cash from McClean but she will take the money as a transaction (for a second I thought she wouldn’t take the money but she did because she is very corrupt) and talks to Maroni once more. Before I talk about what happens with Blockbuster let me say this, she acts so distant to Maroni, she calls him Mr. Maroni every single time and she comes off as cold and feeling no type of way while talking with someone that is part of the family that actually raised her, and this is not because she is in a room full of other people, she did it too in #79. It seems weird that she acts that way with someone that took her under his wing since she was eight years old.
When she sits with Blockbuster he says “tell us your plan for my city” to which she says all of this: “My plan, Blockbuster, is to make us all much wealthier and to extend your power beyond the city. But to do so in a way that builds on the good work you’ve already done I have no interest in burning anything down.”
At the start of the post I said she gave me big Wilson Fisk vibes and that right there is why. She is shady, she has plans on top of plans, she calls Roland Desmond Blockbuster to his face but says that he has done good work for Bludhaven, which is weird because Blockbuster destroys Bludhaven a couple of times a year…
As I said before whatever she has planned does not include Nightwing, and here is where I kinda start theorizing a bit more, what if Blockbuster told Melinda Nightwing’s real name, he used to know who he was once upon a time…
Later in this issue when Nightwing is going to Melinda’s place Audre is already waiting for him right next to the window (with a sword), so, was he making an insane amount of noise or were they told to be ready for him?
Melinda traps him and takes his mask off, she barely seems surprised about Nightwing being Dick, she barely reacts when he jumps at her. She is in complete control of the situation and proves that by disarming Dick, as fast as he accuses her of being Zucco’s daughter she tells him that her real father is John Grayson.
She is in complete control. She has to be lying, she put a stop to whatever Dick had to say and do in seconds. This woman is trained and she is manipulative as fuck!
And if she isn’t lying then fuck DC and fuck Tom Taylor, this woman is either younger or the same age as Dick, John Grayson was not a cheater, the man is dead, has been dead for so long, don’t throw dirt on his name at this point. I refuse to believe this is true.
I honestly think that she is evil, and knows more than we are aware of, her first appearance was shady as fuck, let's suppose that she didn’t truly know that Dick was Nightwing, why on earth did she have a Flying Graysons poster with a red circle on top of Dick’s face? That doesn’t seem like something a sister would do! And why would this be information that is so important that she NEEDS to tell him in a certain amount of time?
It’s fucking insane. Tom Taylor, if she is actually Dick's sister then shame on you. Disgusting, what is with writers and cheating, what the hell is going on? Dick doesn’t need to think back to his parents and see a cheater in one of them. This better be Melinda being a cruel and vile human being that is trying to emotionally hurt Dick/Nightwing so she and Blockbuster can do whatever its they want to do.
That’s all I have to say.

Wholesome BatFamily Fic Rec’s
Hey All, so here is my BatFam Rec List you all have been asking for! Lol jk no one has asked for this, but I made it anyways! So here are my All-Time Favorite BatFamily Fic Recs, for the most part these Recs are all rated either “G” for General Audiences or “T” for Teen and Up Audiences. And remember to always read the tags before you read the fic!

Summary: We all do stupid things when we are lonely, and in faraway lands, we hardly expect the consequences to follow us. Bruce certainly never thought twice about an American woman in Jaipur after one night with her. He hardly expected to see her ever again.
The universe, on the other hand, had different ideas, and the tides of time and chance brought Tim Drake to Bruce's life over and over again.
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences
Word Count: 181,939
My Comments: FANTASTIC AU! One of my favorite Tim Drake centric fics, but still has plenty of the rest of the BatFamily. I also love that we get to see Tim as his sweet six-year self. This story has it all, great characterizations, good plot, angst, fluff, and BatFamily bonding 😊
Cracked Foundation by @cdelphiki
Summary: The last thing Damian expected to happen when he ran away from home was to spend a day crammed into a small space with Jason Todd. His father's second son was a black sheep. An outcast. An angry, insanity driven criminal who enjoyed screwing with the batfamily in every way he could. At least, that's what Damian thought. Maybe he was wrong about Todd.
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences
Word Count: 20,902
My Comments: This is a brilliant fic that examines the relationship between Damian and Jason. I absolutely loved this fic and never wanted it to end. I truly wish there were more Jason and Damian Fics out there, I think it’s a character duo that isn’t explored nearly enough. If you love Damian and Jason brother bonding fics, you’ll love this one and if you’ve never read a bonding fic between these two brothers, you may just find a new love!
Five Times Jason Todd Saved His Brothers, and One Time They Saved Him by laceymcbain, reena_jenkins
Summary: “Did you know I was in here, or did you just blow up the place for fun?”
Damian didn't need to see Todd's face to know he was grinning under the helmet.
“It's not really a rescue unless something blows up. But if Bats asks, it was completely necessary."
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences
Word Count: 6,923
My Comments: This fic is BatFamily feels to the extreme. Jason Todd deserves love and this fic gives it to him. LOVED IT <3 <3 <3
Fly By Night by @lysical
Summary: Damian is thirteen. Sometimes he even acts like it.
"This is an injustice," were the last words Damian had spoken to his father all day.
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences
Word Count: 2,889
My Comments: Another great Fic by @Lysical! This is just a plain ol’ fun Fic, y’all. Great Bat Brother love in this one and it also features my sweet summer child- Jonathan Samuel Kent. Trust me you will love this Fic, it is hilarious and all around good stuff 😊
A Good Place by @lemonadegarden
Summary: Damian Wayne is kidnapped and sent back years through time. Together, he and Father – who's only been Batman for a mere six months –must figure out how to return him to his own time.
Over the course of the next week, Damian discovers that Mexican gangsters do not mess around, that social workers find Bruce annoying, that Bruce might be a little messed up, and that crystal chandeliers create the fondest memories.
Oh. And Alfred has hair.
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences
Word Count: 36,903
My Comments: LemonadeGarden is one of my All-Time favorite authors, so anything written by them is brilliant. But A Good Place will always be a favorite of  mine, it is by far my favorite Damian & Bruce centric Fic out there and is something I have read over and over again. I love getting to see a younger Bruce interact with Damian and in turn, Damian interact with him. It’s overall great and has a fantastic plot!
Let There Be a Bruise by @audreycritter
Summary: Damian is a child who should not have the scars he does; Bruce is a father who has plenty of his own scars, but still wishes he could take his son’s, too.
The silver lining is where they find each other— a broken son and a broken father, putting each other back together.
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences
Word Count: 3,656
My Comments: Audreycritter is the master of Damián & Bruce Hurt/Comfort fics. I honestly would recommend all of Audrey’s fics, so check them all out! But this one will always be a favorite 😊
 Life Happens by @cdelphiki
Summary: While walking home from an event at Wayne Enterprises, Tim and Damian are kidnapped and sent to an alternate dimension. In a world where superheroes are merely comic book characters and the idea of the multiverse is only a theory found within the pages of science fiction, how are Tim and Damian going to return home? How long will they be stranded on this strange Earth? And will the boys murder each other before they figure it out?
Rating: General Audiences
Word Count: 176,966
My Comments: Hoo-boy, folks. I don’t even know where to start with this Fic. I honestly get teary-eyed thinking about how beautiful it is and how much I loved this one. My favorite Tim Drake and Damian Wayne brotherly bonding Fic EVER. I would almost describe this Fic as a love letter to the characters Tim and Damian, in the sense that the author captures their characterizations beautifully and tells one of the best stories of growth and familial love I have ever read. It’s fluffy, angsty, humorous, and full of BatFamily feels. And don’t worry, there is plenty of Dick, Jason, and Bruce as well (If not a little later in the story). I would run to this Fic, if I were you.
Life, if Well Lived by CaptainOzone
Summary: Jason wakes up from a time-travel mishap to find Thomas and Martha Wayne hovering over him.
Just another day in the life, right?
...Not quite.
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences
Word Count: 10,758
My Comments: A Fic that destroyed me in the BEST way possible. Tears, so many tears were shed during this fic. The best Hurt/Comfort fic I have ever read. Extremely unique in the sense that Martha and Thomas Wayne are two of the main characters and boy did I love it! I can not stress how AMAZING this Fic is. I never knew I needed this fic in my life until I read it. I wish I could re-read it for the first time all over again. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!
My Brother’s Keeper by Forever_A_Thief
Summary: The boy had two options, two roads stretching out before him: stay with Mother, and become the greatest assassin ever known to man, or go to Father, and become a masked vigilante fighting for justice in a city drenched in darkness. Damian looked at these two roads, these two lives he could lead, and decided on a third path for himself instead. He chose his own road.
Jason never let himself think about the kid he had left behind at the desert compound all those years ago. When Talia never got in touch with him after his return to Gotham, Jason had assumed he had just been forgotten like he had been in Gotham. But then that kid, his little brother, showed up one night and Jason couldn’t just continue to push him to the back of his mind. Not anymore.
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences
Word Count: 43,907
My Comments: Did I mention I love Jason & Damian fics? Well I do and this one is beyond FANTASTIC. Overall great Bat-Bros fic that I would recommend over and over again.  This fic is Damian and Jason centric but it does involve the rest of the Bat Family too. I love seeing all the brother’s bonding in this fic and the overall family feels 😊
Of Owls and Assassins by Cirth
Summary: "Dick," Bruce says, not entirely sure how to react, "who is that?"
Dick blinks at him from his place on the workout mat. There's a broken plate with mac and cheese strewn all over next to him, as well as what seems to be Bruce's old G.I. Joe action figure from the attic. It looks like a child's imagining of a murder scene. "My owlet," Dick states.
Rating: General Audiences
Word Count: 853
My Comments: The adorableness of this Fic is off the charts. I love AU’s where Dick is a Talon, but this one will always hold a very special place in my heart since Dick is just so pure in it. Forever a favorite <3
Party Games by @lemonadegarden
Summary: I can't believe you got into a bar fight at two in the morning. And now you're all in prison. The night before your wedding. What the fuck kind of a family am I marrying into?” Selina said.
Bruce Wayne goes to a series of bachelor parties, each one worse than the last. Set in the same timeline as We, So Much Older, but can be read as a standalone fic as well.
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences
Word Count: 12,659
My Comments: Okay, so technically this is a Selina Kyle/Bruce Wayne Fic and even though the plot premise revolves around their upcoming wedding, I wouldn’t really consider this a “slash” fic. There is definitely more BatFamily vibes with this fic. It’s hilarious, fun, and oh so wholesome! I love this fic beyond measure and even if you aren’t a fan of the BatCat ship, I highly suggest you give it a shot for the amazing BatFam moments.
Second Chance by @cdelphiki
Summary: When Talia al Ghul watched her toddling son start his training, his awful, grueling training, she had an epiphany:
The League of Assassins was no place for children.
(Or: Talia realizes training literal babies is abuse and gets him out of there.)
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences
Word Count: 6,461
My Comments: This is the Talia al Ghul we deserve! This is the Talia al Ghul, Bruce Wayne deserves! THIS IS THE TALIA AL GHUL, DAMIAN WAYBE DESERVES! Loved this fic, great Talia al Ghul characterization. It’s the Talia that could have ben before DC slaughtered her character.
Running Headlong into My Arms by gleesquid
Summary: Bruce doesn’t like to credit one thing for saving his life, but if he did, it would be Haly’s Circus that Friday night in September, just as summer was beginning to die.
(He'll always be a sucker for kids with sad eyes, no parents, and more fight than the world knows what to do with.)
Or: in a universe where superheroes don't exist, Bruce Wayne finds his family.
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences
Word Count: 54,231
My Comments: I feel like this fic is a right of passage into the BatFamily fandom, so if by some chance you haven’t already read it, I highly suggest you move this straight to the top of your reading list. It’s a classic and has everything you could ever want in a BatFam Fic.
we are not alone in the dark by @audreycritter
Summary: Damian has a flashback on a family camping trip.
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences
Word Count: 2,218
My Comments: A BatFam camping trip, need I say more? One of my favorite hurt/comfort fics involving Damian. We get to see some super sweet moments between Bruce and Damian, and Damian and Jason. Loved it.
Where You Go, I Follow by @fishfingersandjellybabies
Summary: In some world, Dick Grayson was never revived by Lex Luthor, and was probably better for it.
Rating: General Audiences
Word Count: 1,427
My Comments: BROKE MY HEART, but in the best possible way. I cried both sad tears and happy tears for this fic. LOVED IT! I have read it at least six times (I’m going read it again after I post this rec). A fantastic Dick & Damian story. I also love the title; it captures the mood perfectly. I’m always a sucker for fics that are inspired by songs, this one was inspired by ‘I Will Follow You’ by Toulouse!
Video message incoming by helenabertinellis
Summary: The League are just wrapping up their meeting when a call comes through the Watchtower servers.
It's for Batman.
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences
Word Count: 1,228
My Comments: I consider this a classic BatFam fic, so I will be shocked if you haven’t read it, but on the off chance that you have not read it, GO READ IT NOW. It’s humorous and all so wholesome 😊
Yesterday’s Voices by @lemonadegarden
Summary: While trying to take down a drug cartel that deals with memory altering drugs, things go awry, and Batman wakes up with no recollection of the last five years.
As a result, his family must now race against time to find the antidote, while also having to deal with a Bruce who still thinks Jason is Robin. A Bruce who doesn't recognise most of them. A Bruce far less jaded and cynical than the one they're used to. A Bruce who still cares.
Rating: General Audiences
Word Count: 49,000
My Comments: Surprise, surprise another amazing fic by LemonadeGarden. I will be shocked if you haven’t read this fic yet, but on the off chance that you haven’t, I am telling you now, to RUN to this fic. It will forever and always be my MOST FAVORITE BATFAMILY fic out there. I honestly wish this fic never had ended, it’s one that will always hold a special spot in my heart. THIS IS THE BRUCE WAYNE WE DESERVE.

Hello! I hope you have a lovely day/evening/night when you get to this one! 😊
This just screams sleep deprived Tim to me: “Do I look like I have ever had a coherent thought?” Maybe with Jay or Dick (or both)? Or maybe all the bats?
Hello lovely, I had, thank you :)
Tim is fine.
He’s just not been sleeping a lot, that’s all. Doesn’t matter; he’s young enough that he can stomach it. If he takes a nap in the Batcave sometimes, that’s between him and the chair.
…except he wakes up to Duke’s grinning face.
Oh, no.
“This is why I do day shifts,” the other boy comments mercilessly.
Tim tries to open his eyes all the way. His eyelashes have gone crusty. Fuck. That means it wasn’t just a ten-minute power nap as he’d planned. “Did I miss anything?”
“Eh, nothing much. Except for dinner.”
“What?” Tim sits up straight. He’s in so much trouble—
“Just kidding. Alfred said to fetch you because you will look even sadder without food.”
…sometimes, Tim misses the days when Duke was too in awe of them to open his mouth. “Fine.”
“Master Tim.”
There’s no reply.
Alfred sighs and resolves to wipe that part of the kitchen table later. He will have a strong word with the oldest of his charges, though. Master Bruce should know better than to allow child labor.
“Tired?” Cass asks gently.
Tim nods. “Yeah, sorry. I just need to finish this report, then I’ll be right with you on that surveillance—“
He doesn’t even see her fist coming. All he knows is that she moved, and then he wakes up six hours with a giant bruise on his neck.
(It’s the best sleep he’s had in a while.)
Steph just takes about a hundred pictures of him and posts them all on her Insta.
“Red Robin.”
“He’s not replying. Oracle?”
“His comm is still switched on. GPS says he’s still at King’s St 45B.”
“I’m on my way.”
“That shouldn’t be necessary, B; I have a camera on the building… oh.”
“What, O?”
“I think… I think Red Robin fell asleep.”
Silence.
“I will fetch him, anyway. Maybe he has been paralyzed or otherwise been interfered with.”
“Sure, B. Sure.”
“This is getting ridiculous,” Jason says.
Bruce sighs. “You don’t even live here.”
“Yeah, well, that doesn’t stop me from finding him asleep in the fucking window, am I?” Bruce notes that Jason is carrying Tim very carefully for all his grumbling, depositing him in his bed with surprising gentleness. “At what point are you gonna realize he’s overworking himself and do a proper intervention?”
“We are—“
“Dosing him with sleeping pills occasionally doesn’t count.”
Bruce switches tactics. “What were you doing entering through the attic window anyway?”
“None of your business.” Jason shakes his head. “Seriously, start taking care of your kids, dude. Bye.”
Bruce watches him walk away, presumably to meet up with Alfred in the butler’s apartment and drink some tea. His sons still think they can keep secrets from him. It’s cute.
Tim is working on yet another case and wouldn’t luck have it; he got stuck with ‘watching the brat’ duty tonight. At least Damian can be trusted to entertain himself, just occasionally asking stupid questions. Right now, Tim is trying to explain his surveillance set-up: “So she’s going to go visit her lover, but we’re not interested in that, so we’re filming the living room instead, hoping that’s where he hides stuff.”
“That makes no sense,” is the snide reply. “At least try to be coherent, Drake.”
“Do I look like I have ever had a coherent thought in my life?” Tim asks. It doesn’t come out sarcastic, just tired.
Whatever. He’s kinda past caring about all that shit. Who cares what one teenager thinks about him? Tim has learned to ignore Damian’s comments long ago.
To his surprise, however, the brat just turns around and leaves. No words of derision, no parting shot, nothing
Tim would think about it more if he wasn’t so tired.
“A little bird told me you’re not sleeping.”
“Okay, which of the bastards ratted me out—wait, no.” Tim realized his mistake as soon as he sees the glint in Dick’s eyes. “I meant that there is nothing to talk about because I’m fine.”
“Uh-huh.”
“I’m not tired.”
“Sleep,” Dick says, “or don’t. But you need to rest. And if you wanna talk about the nightmares, we can. Only if you want to, though. Either way, I’ll be here.”
“…Fine.” Tim leans back on the pillow and demonstratively closes his eyes. “I’m gonna try for twenty minutes, and if I’m still awake then, you’ll let me go out, okay?”
Dick wisely doesn’t point out that he didn’t actually take his younger brother prisoner. Instead, he tells him gravely: “It’s a deal.”
“No going back.”
“Never.”
When Dick checks back fifteen minutes later, Tim is curled up on his side and fast asleep.
With a smile, he types into the family group chat (currently missing one member): Phase One is a go. The subject has succumbed.
The number of thumb-ups he gets in reply almost breaks his app.
(I’m taking prompts until the end of the year.)

Metro Encounters - Tim
Pairing: Tim Drake/ Reader
Genre: Fluff
Word count: 1,200
Summary: You catch Tim’s eye, but Tim looks away.
A/N: HERE IT IS GUYS!!! After a lot of persuasion from all of you, here’s my first Tim Drake fic! Though it’s just a short fluff, I wanted to get a feel of writing him before I write something longer and plot heavy! I had a lot of fun writing Tim, not gonna lie. I’m really nervous about this one and I hope I got his personality right! If I didn’t, please PLEASE don’t hesitate to correct me, because that’s how I’m going to improve. I love feedback and don’t mind constructive criticism!
The rush you felt from before had settled down the moment you entered the metro. Immediately, you regretted not bringing a change of clothes.
In the black dress and high heels you were wearing, you felt eyes on you. Predatory eyes raking you up and down. It wasn’t like whatever you were wearing was revealing anyway, and even if it was, it shouldn’t give people an excuse to stare.
The palm that gripped the handle of your violin case started to sweat. Reaching out for the grab handle of the train, you stood awkwardly, trying not to bring too much attention to yourself.
The subway wasn’t as crowded as it was during the day, because at 9pm, most Gothamites were already either home with families or participating in some kind of criminal activity. God, if only you could afford a car with your profession. Yet the seats were all still taken.
You noticed a man eyeing you from your peripheral vision. He looked like one of those guys who tried so hard to look like they belonged on Wall Street, mid-tier suits that didn’t fit and a cheap haircut. Not that you would usually judge anyone, but those guys irked you.
Why would anyone want to try to be selfish, unethical assholes?
Because said guy was practically undressing you with his eyes, and you did not feel comfortable.
Looking away from him to find another spot to stand, you noticed another man who had his gaze on you. Surprisingly though, when he saw you look at him, he immediately blushed and lowered his eyes.
He didn’t seem like he was eyeing you for impure reasons, and hell were you familiar with those kinds of stares, but the way he looked at you was as if he was trying to figure you out.
You shrugged and then walked carefully to stand nearer to the second man, away from the first. You didn’t feel anything predatory about him.
He noticed that you came closer, and you noticed that his ears started to turn red. You chuckled to yourself. He had wavy hair that was longer than most business cut types, with pale skin that you noticed had some scars littered on them. His blue eyes looked tired, though, as if he was lacking sleep.
Oh, boy, he was cute.
The two of you stood there in silence, avoiding each other’s eyes like any strangers on the train would.
But then-
“Hey, uh, sorry,” the man said, wincing to himself, completely unsure. “I’m sorry- uh- you know what, nevermind.”
He immediately turned his back towards you, and you thought you could hear him muttering to himself, “Stupid, Tim. Absolutely idiotic.”
“Hey, it’s okay,” you tried to coax him. “You were saying?”
He peeked at you from over his shoulder, his eyes widening in surprise at your answer. “Ah, no. It’s just. I saw you. Earlier. Your performance.”
You blinked in surprise. “Oh! You saw that?”
This time, he actually turned to face you fully, a small smile creeping his lips. “Paganini’s La Campanella. How could I forget?”
“Are you a musician too?” you asked.
“Oh, no. I mean, a little bit. But not like you,” he shook his head, “But I do appreciate it.”
“Then what were you doing at an amateur classical music concert?”
“I like to have a look at the local talent,” he shrugged, relaxing into the conversation. “To support the industry.”
“Well, thank you for your support mister..?”
“Drake. I mean, Tim. Tim Drake, but you can call me Tim,” he said.
You smiled and offered your name. “Thank you, Tim, for supporting us amateurs.”
“I think you’re too good to be an amateur,” he blurted.
You raised an eyebrow.
“I mean, that piece is really difficult to play,” he explained, “And you played it almost perfectly. The tempo, everything. You have such brilliant technique down, and precision and- and efficiency- I can’t believe someone like you is still called an amateur. You must have put a lot of practice to acquire that level of skill, but how do you remain so precise?”
You were taken aback by his sudden outburst of enthusiasm for your music. No one else around you understood your love for it, but he looked like he did.
“Wow, thank you,” you blushed, “While I appreciate everything you said, I’m still very far from being a pro. Though yes, I do practice a lot, but for me while I’m playing, I don’t notice whatever you just said. About precision and all that.”
“What do you mean?” he cocked his head to the side, curiosity burning in his suddenly bright eyes.
“I don’t know how to explain it well, but when I’m playing, I just… feel the music, you know?” you tried, “I feel it and I play.”
“Feel… music?” he asked, perplexed. “How do you feel music?”
“I’m sure you’ve experienced it before. When you listen to something and you don’t know why but it just really hits you right in the heart?” you tried, “Maybe a sad song that describes your feelings?”
“Huh,” he pursed his lips, “I’m gonna have to think about that.”
What a strange man. Even though the people around you weren’t really into music as much as you were, everyone still felt music. Everyone has their happy song and their breakup song and their angry song. Why doesn’t he?
Interesting.
“Anyway,” he continued, “You play beautifully. And I would like to see you perform again.”
“I’d like to see you again,” you grinned widely.
He turned a shade darker again, making you laugh. You were liking him more and more.
“Oh! Uh- wow- I think- yes, I think that would be possible,” he nodded seriously, “We have a lot of things in common, and I think that factor itself could pave way for a rela- friendship.”
You tried hard not to burst into laughter at his obvious slip up.
“I think friendships,” you enunciated, “Are not only based on common interests. It’s also based on connection. Feelings. And I think that you and I have some sort of spark between us. For the friendship, that is.”
Usually, you weren’t so bold. Hell, you usually kept your head down and spoke little to people you didn’t know. But there was just something about this Tim Drake that had you intrigued. Maybe it was the way that he took himself too seriously, or maybe it was because you enjoyed teasing him.
To your surprise, he started chuckling. “I’m doing it again, aren’t I?”
“Doing what?”
“The people close to me, they call me a robot sometimes. A hard metal robot with no feelings,” he smiled bitterly, “I’ve been trying to reel it in and not think too much with my head, but I just can’t help it.”
“Then go out with me,” you demanded.
“W-what?”
“Go out with me,” you repeated, “And I’ll show you what it means to feel.”
“You would really go out with someone you just met on the train?” he asked. “I could be some sort of weirdo, and you wouldn’t know.”
“Oh, Tim Drake, trust me,” you jested, “I already know you’re a weirdo. And it makes me want to go out with you even more.”

As yet untitled sequel to Gotham Ghoul - Batman comics, Jason/Tim
Dick paced, and when that didn’t help calm him down, flipped over onto his hands and continued.
It was stupid to be nervous about Tim's visit, but the fact was that they hadn't really hung out since they got Tim back from the Iceberg the first time.
They'd been so close when Tim was younger, but after the Iceberg Tim had pulled back from everyone, stopped talking about anything other than the mission.
Dick had tried to reach out after Jack Drake was killed, but it was like Tim had forgotten everything Dick had taught him about letting himself be loved, and Dick had let himself be pushed away. He’ll take the guilt for that to his grave.
But Jason is helping, getting through to Tim in a way no one else has managed since his mom died, and Damian and Steph are forcing him to be social, and Cass never had any problems understanding him in the first place, and Bruce has stopped just assuming Tim is always fine and started actually asking and sometimes Tim even answers him.
Which just leaves Dick, out on the fringes. Not in Gotham. Not part of the normal patrol rota. Not in Tim’s life the way everyone else is.
He’s going to fix that though.
His apartment is cleaner than it’s been since he first moved it. He’s spent half a month’s pay on food he thinks Tim might actually eat, and more different bottles of spirits than he’s ever owned in his life before in the hope that he might actually persuade Tim to have a drink with him if the drink in question tastes like alcoholic cherry Zesti, and DVDs of like 50 really depressing films about toxic masculinity and also Twilight because you never know with Tim. He’s even put fresh sheets on the bed because when Tim was younger he could generally persuade him to sleep there with Dick instead of alone on the couch and he fucking misses being able to cuddle his baby brother.
He’s promised himself that he’s not going to talk about sex unless Tim starts it, and he’s not going to freak out even a little bit when Tim inevitably starts talking about cannibalism, or all those mysterious accidents he keeps having since he started dating Jason, or something else horrifying that Dick isn’t nearly twisted enough to think of. He’s going to be nice, and as normal as any member of his family ever gets, and remember that just because he doesn’t really have boundaries that doesn’t mean Tim shouldn’t.
He’s so caught up in worrying that he nearly jumps out of his skin when there’s a knock on his door. No one uses the door. All his friends are window kind of people.
He flips back onto his feet and generally tries to make himself look less like he’s been pacing upside down again. “Coming.”
He's expecting Mormons, or Girl Scouts, or one of his neighbours come to complain about something. He’s so surprised to see Tim standing there, in his good-boy-disguise clothes, that he doesn’t say anything, just stares.
“Hello Dick.”
“You’re using the door.”
Tim quirks a smile at him, and it makes Dick feel a little better that he recognises it as a smile when no one who doesn’t know Tim would. The muscles in his left cheek tighten momentarily, almost a twitch, and his eyes narrow slightly, and Dick knows that this is Tim laughing at his awkwardness. “I do that sometimes.”
“When?”
“When it’s daylight out and I’m not dressed for breaking and entering. Can I come in?”
Dick steps back too fast, doesn’t need another of Tim’s not-smiles to tell him that he’s being awkward, but he can’t help it. Tim is here, in his apartment. There was a time when he’d thought that would never happen again. “It’s good to see you, little brother.”
“Jason has been teaching me to appreciate being seen.”
“Comm sex?” Shit, he hadn’t been going to talk about sex, he’d promised himself he wouldn’t talk about sex unless Tim started it.
Tim doesn’t look uncomfortable though, he just nods and says, “that too.”
“So what, any time you’re not responding on the comms it’s because Jason’s describing how he wants to eat you?”
Tim gives him a long look, and then turns and heads towards the kitchen. “You’re not old enough for this conversation. I’ll tell you when you’re 21.”
“I’m 25!”
Tim turns just enough that Dick can see his grin, wider than before but still not really a real-boy smile, “31 then.”
“I’ll have you know I’ve been having comm sex since before you were in green panties, young man.”
“But how much of it was with someone who wanted to crack open your bones and eat the marrow?”
“You’d have to ask Roy. Kori doesn’t, Babs only does when I’m being especially annoying, Wally… is terrible at comm sex, he’s not big on delayed gratification. Roy though…” He’s joking. Mostly. Dick loves Roy, he always has and always will, but they’re not super sexually compatible. It’s always a balance between how kinky Dick’s willing to go vs how vannila Roy can take, and while cannibalism is definitely too far for Roy, he knows for a fact that blood-play isn’t.
“And now I’m regretting not getting to know him better.”
“You can’t just collect cannibals.”
“I don’t see why not. Anyway Damian and Steph aren’t cannibals, they just eat people.”
“Ah yes, of course, because that’s much safer.”
“If we cared about safe, we both would have laughed in Bruce’s face the first time he offered to mentor us,” Tim points out. “Safe and vigilantes don’t go together.”
“I want to tell you that exclusively socialising with people who want to eat you is stupider than dressing up in tights and punching people who want to eat you, but I might have to concede this one.”
“Glad you can see my point of view.”
“But putting your soft bits in the mouths of people who want to eat you is still stupider.”

You have something to tell me?

Pairing: Jason Todd x Timothy Drake (JayTim)

Other(s) links: AO3
During the first weeks Jason spent at Wayne Manor, right after he had been picked up directly from Crime Alley, he learned something important: It was difficult to hide things from a good detective. Maybe he should have had that in mind during his adult life as well, especially when he was dating one of the best GCPD detectives.
"Tim? What happened?"
"Don't know. Tell me." He answered, angry. "You have something to tell me, Jason?"
You have something to tell me?
During the first weeks Jason spent at Wayne Manor, right after he had been picked up directly from Crime Alley, he learned something important: It was difficult to hide things from a good detective.
By a good detective, he meant Alfred, of course. Because at those times Bruce was a mess and was too busy panicking to have adopted another child. Really, the millionaire couldn't pay attention to when he was sneaking, smoking, stealing food, and hiding provisions along with money in case he had to flee at any time.
Anyway, he knew the man was trying to find a way to do things correctly with him, since he was a child of the street, with a difficult life, and totally different from the ray of the sun that turned out to be his first pupil, Dick.
Of course, he didn't know that at the time. All he was aware of was that he now lived in a mansion and the butler there knew everything. Everything. No matter what he did, how he hid, or how he lied, Alfred always knew it, he always ended up finding out sooner or later. The first few times he was even scared.
For this reason, he ended up learning that lesson. You couldn’t fool a good detective, because in the end they always ended up finding out whether by chance or not.
He should have had that in mind during his adult life as well, especially when he did what he did. Because it would have saved him from some trouble, and he would have gotten away with it.
That day he came home early, in a very good mood and wearing a slight smile. It was noon, and he had finished some duties, the patrol that night had been quiet, everything was going well, and his boyfriend had the day off.
His boyfriend. His Timmy, his little detective.
Against everything -and after several talks from absolutely his entire family- his relationship with Tim was going very well, better than anyone could have never thought. And contrary to what some people wanted to believe, Jason didn’t meet Tim as a GCPD detective, no, he was the pretty boy who lived in the neighborhood that greeted him with a cute smile, and stopped at the 24-hour coffee shop too often to be healthy. His surprise was even alarming when one night he showed up with Batman for a joint case on the police station rooftop and Jim Gordon was there with the force’s new promise: Detective Tim Drake.
As expected, just as that smile and pretty face dazzled Jason the first time he saw him in the cafe, so did his intelligence and professionalism in helping them with the case. So, days later, when Tim approached him shyly and asked him to have coffee together, how could he say no?
He was crushing on him back then. And now, two years later, he still was.
“Timmy.” He called him fondly as he entered the apartment they shared. “I'm back.”
Walking down the hall, Jason looked around the kitchen and then headed to the living room. He didn't know if Tim was still asleep, but he wouldn't blame him if he did, his little bird worked too hard and sometimes didn't rest properly. Although it isn’t as if he was the most appropriate example of this considering his night activities, or night work, according to the version Tim knew.
Even he didn't know how he had managed to hide his life as a vigilante from his partner for so long, but he couldn't continue doing it. As much as he feared for his safety or his reaction, it was a part of his life that he could no longer hide, and the more time passed, the worse the consequences.
Just when he found Tim in the living room, he began to fear that these consequences had come sooner than expected.
 “Babybird.” He called him again.
 No answer.
Tim was sitting at the end of the sofa, his feet up on it and curled up on himself, his arms were crossed, he was watching at the television turned off completely silent and thoughtful. His hands clenched into fists didn’t loosen, his nose was red and his eyes were watery, he seemed angry, sad, upset.
Jason's chest sank in concern, immediately closed in on the boy. Tim didn’t usually respond in a particularly emotional way to many things, he generally liked to compartmentalize unless it affected him a lot, the times when he had seen him crying had been at times like the anniversary of his parent’s death, for example.
 “Tim?” He asked somewhat alarmed.
However, when he reached out to comfort him and lifted his hand to touch him, perhaps caress his hair in the way he knew it would relax him, he pulled away immediately, startled, surely he had been too deep in his own head to realize he had arrived.
A bad feeling began to invade him when he frowned and moved further away from his touch, clenching his fists. He knew that face, that sparkle in his eyes, he was angry, specifically with him. But at the same time his eyes were still watery and shone with disappointment, anguish.
“What happened?” He asked again nervously.
 Tim frowned further and shrugged.
 “Don’t know. Tell me.”
That reply was a confirmation that he was angry with him. Why? Well, based on the answer and the tone in which it was said, he might have discovered something that he didn't like at all, that would have hurt him, and Jason didn't have to think much to know what it was.
 “What?” He asked uselessly.
Tim’s lower lip trembled for a second, but he controlled that to stop clinging to himself and getting his feet off the couch.
“You have something to tell me, Jason?”
Jason's alarms went off even, much louder. It was clear what was going on, Tim had figured it all out on his own.
He knew it, he knew it. God how had he been so stupid? He was dating one of the best GCPD detectives, one of the younger to join the force, with an outstanding record and the smartest person he knew. Fuck, even Batman praised the boy's ability, they had worked together on cases, that intelligence and audacity were scary, and that was what he most liked about him. Timothy was like a hound, stubborn and determined, he never gave up until he found the truth, and that was something he highly valued. If he felt that his boyfriend wasn’t being completely honest with him, of course he was going to investigate, of course he wanted to know. And having worked with the bats, being so close to him and having the necessary means, it was no wonder that he could have easily tied the dots.
He couldn't lie to him, not anymore. He also didn’t like to do it before, the only reason he did it was because he knew it was for the best. Tim had thrown a light into his life that he never thought he could -or deserved to- have, a feeling of normality and affection that helped him improve and not be a fucking unconscious fucker. But he knew that part of his life was dangerous, dark and crazy. The proof was in his scars and nightmares, in his traumas and fears, those that Tim helped calm and never asked about. The fact that he didn’t know, kept him away from the danger that he was so afraid of could reach him, but he also worked with bats, was in the first ranks of the GCPD, and that made him join the risk.
He had no choice, besides, how could he continue to lie to him when he was there, half crying, begging him the truth and piercing his soul with those big blue eyes? Seriously, he wasn't surprised that the suspects sang so quickly with him, the boy was all eyes and pretty face.
Jason sighed and sat down on the couch next to him, his heart beating hard and guilt devouring him. He never thought he would have to reveal his secret to someone out loud, not to a civilian, but he also never imagined caring about someone enough to do so. He looked Tim in the eye and took a deep breath:
“Okay, it sounds like you already know, but you deserve to be told.” He said with a nod.
Tim sniffed, looking nervously into his eyes, hurt, but let him continue. Jason swallowed and knew there was no other way out.
 “I’m Red Hood.”
 Silence.
Tim didn’t move, didn’t react, and Jay exhaled altered. It wasn't enough, was it? It wasn’t.
“I'm sorry I didn't tell you before.” He continued. “But I couldn't, seriously. It was too dangerous.”
He looked for any trace of a single reaction on his face but didn’t find it. He just stood there, looking at him silently and thoughtfully. Which made him even more nervous.
“I know you’re in the GCPD and we’ve worked together, but I didn't want to get you much more involved.”
 Still silent.
“I pissed people off very dangerous, horrible villains, it’s a world you don't want to get into.”
 “…”
“You have to believe me. If it were up to me, I would have told you a long time ago, but the more time passed the worse the secret became.”
 “…”
“I constantly face undesirable people and you would be a very easy target.”
 “Jason.”
By the time Tim whispered his name, the dam had broken, and he couldn't stop babbling, thinking aloud about everything that he had been holding back.
“I know it sounds selfish, but it’s not just up to me and there’s a reason we keep civilians out of that life. Fuck, if you knew...”
 “Jason.”
“It's a fucking hell and it killed me; I couldn't risk you.”
 “Jason.”
“I know I've broken your trust but...”
“Jason!” Tim interrupted, weary and leaning down to meet his eyes fiercely. “I knew it.”
It took him three seconds to assimilate that, causing him to freeze and the confusion nullify him.
 What the fuck?
 “Eh?” He asked confused.
“I knew it.” The smallest repeated, huffing and crossing his arms. “I’ve always known that.”
 What the actual fuck?
Tim had to see the chaos and mess that was his head at the time on his face, because he huffed harder and shook his head, totally exasperated.
“Jason, I'm not stupid.” He emphasized with a frown and raised his hands to point to the apartment. “This place is reinforced everywhere with bat technology.”
He didn’t know what to say, because that was a good point.
“You hide a gun in the cereal cupboard and...” Sighing and reaching into one of the holes in the sofa, he pulled out one of the rubber bullets that Red Hood used and had been there for who knows how long. “This! There are rubber bullets everywhere. Bullets I've seen you use.”
Okay, so he might like to hide guns in certain parts of the place for extra security. And maybe he was a little sloppy with his bullets sometimes.
“You have the same boots, pants and jacket in your closet. I even found your helmet once!”
The excuse it was from a Halloween costume may not have been as convincing as he believed.
“You speak the same way, you move the same way, you have the same height and constitution.” Tim continued listing. “Even the first night you saw me as Red Hood, you flirted with me.”
 He did?
 Maybe yes.
“I knew it from the beginning and still accepted it. I knew the reason you were hiding it and I respected your decision to not tell me until you saw necessary.” Again, Tim began to look distraught, his eyes watering again. “But that's not what I was talking about.”
Confusion arose again for something quite different. Because if Tim, his intelligent and precious detective, had known and accepted his other life from the beginning, what was going on? Why was he angry?
“Then what were you talking about?” He asked fearfully, again the bad feeling settling in his being.
Tim hesitated, shifted in his seat, and his lower lip trembled again, looking much more distressed than before, about to burst into tears.
“I'm talking about you spending Saturday night at a 5-star hotel. Enjoying the restaurant and the suite for couples with another person.” He said and barely tried to control his voice. “The bank has reported recent suspicious movements on your card, when I asked half an hour ago it took me to the hotel, which asked for your assessment of your stay there and confirmation of another reservation this week.”
Tim’s voice broke at the end and Jason started to panic much more than before.
Shit, shit, fuck, shit.
 “Tim this isn't-”
“What it looks like?” He cut him off, trying to compose himself. “So, what is it?”
Jason rubbed his eyes nervously. It really wasn't what it seemed, dammit. He knew what Tim was thinking, what anyone would think, and he understood his reaction. But he would never cheat on Tim, not like that, not feeling what he feels for him, not wanting to...
“I know what you think but-”
“But what? What should I think?” He asked again, his hands shaking.
It was clear that he had cried, and he was trying not to do it again at this moment, the way he was getting more upset indicated that, he wanted to stay strong. And Jason didn’t know what to do, because he couldn’t deny anything and couldn’t explain it the way he wanted without making it seem even more suspicious, he knew that Tim’s self-esteem problems didn’t help the situation at all, he was among the sword and wall.
“I went there, but not for what you think.” He began to explain, also nervous.
Tim ended up getting off the couch, shaking his head vigorously and pacing in front of the living room table, like a caged lion.
“With whom?” He asked then, almost in pain. “Nightwing?”
 “Wh-”
 “Arsenal?”
 “No!”
 “Starfire?”
There he said nothing. About his brother and his best friend, he could deny it, but not with Kory. He went to the hotel and the restaurant with her, it was true, but not as more than friends. What’s more, he didn't even spend the night there, leaving the Tamaranian woman alone in the suite with one of Bruce’s credit cards to do whatever she wanted while he left on patrol and then returned home.
But Tim didn't know that, all he had was that brief silence on his part that told him he was correct, and that immediately broke him when he understood.
Turning around, Tim rushed down the hall to their room, letting out a sob and not stopping to look back. Jason followed him without hesitation, frantic, guilt hitting him more and more along with the fear of losing him.
“Tim!” He called him. “Listen to me, please!”
They entered the room, Tim going straight to the closet and searching through his clothes. He knew what he was doing, he wanted to get his things and leave as soon as possible, he didn't want to be there to break even more, but Jason couldn't allow it.
“We didn't spend the night together!” He explained grabbing the closet door and trying to get him away from there. “It’s not what you think.”
Tim shook his head and rubbed his eyes, his breathing uneven, with no choice but to let him close the closet as he sobbed.
“No, Jason, I get it.” He started to say. “It’s heroes’ stuff, I get it…”
“What?” He asked confused. What was he talking about? Heroes stuff?
“S-She’s a hero. Fuck, is Starfire, and I'm just a civilian...” He continued saying as he looked at the ground, almost looking resigned. “She can understand things that I don't, understand you on a level that I can't, and you don't have to lie to her or pretend to be anything else with her.”
Jason opened his mouth and then closed it, stunned. He couldn't believe what he was hearing, it was surreal.
It was true, most of the heroes ended up dating others in the community, but it didn’t always have to be like that. Secret identities, lies, and danger often ruin relationships with civilians, but other times, if you wanted to, they could work. Damn, the fucking Superman had a family with Lois Lane, also Flash, many others, he was not exactly lacking examples.
And Tim thinking for a single second that he couldn’t make him happy for not understanding that part of his life, compared to other people, not only hurt him, it made him angry. If he knew how much he had helped him, how much his life had changed, how happy he made him…
“So, it’s okay. Don't worry, I really understand.” Tim continued, even in that resigned and sad tone. “I'm sorry I wasted your time...”
That was the drop that filled the glass.
Tim saying something like that, crying in front of him and saying that he understood it despite how much it hurt him, broke him inside. And that he really believed as a result of all this that he hadn’t been able to make him happy, that those two years together had been a lost time and not the best in Jason’s life, made him make the decision to send everything to hell and act. Fuck everything.
As Tim tried to hold back his tears and dry the ones that ran down his face, he silently approached his nightstand to pull out what he had been hiding for months, then turned back to him, determined.
“Tim, listen to me.” He started to say as he approached him again. The younger didn’t dare look at him. “I invited Kory to those places because I needed to know her opinion about them. She’s one of my best friends and the person with the best criteria I know about that kind of things, but we couldn't access there without a reservation, so I had to take her.”
Tim sniffed again and the tension in his shoulders eased a little, he seemed to be listening intently, almost hopefully.
“I didn’t spend the night there; I was on patrol. You can check it, I faced Mr. Freeze in the town hall square, there are videos and reports about it. And if that’s not enough and you don’t believe me now, you can ask Starfire personally later.” He explained getting closer, surrounding the bed, and placing himself in front of him. “The thing is, I did all that behind your back because I really needed her advice and help.”
Tim rubbed his eyes, still without looking at him.
“For what?” He asked in that weak, broken voice.
 “Look at me.”
What Tim saw when he finally dared to look up, was Jason kneeling in front of him and showing him an engagement ring.
“Timothy Jackson Drake, do you want to marry me?”
Time seemed to stop completely; Tim's eyes couldn’t open more because of the impression. Jason swallowed hard and buried his nervousness to continue speaking.
“I’ve been wanting to ask you for months, but I really didn’t know how. I don't care if you are a civilian or not, I love you and I wanted it to be a surprise, something special.” He sighed somewhat agitated, the uncertainty at his answer was too much. “I no longer have to reveal why, but in my life I have learned that I must cling and keep by my side everything that makes me happy for as long as I can, and my happiness is you. So, what do you say?”
Tim was still frozen, stunned because all the information he had to assimilate. Not only because Jason had not cheated on him as he thought, but he had been planning how to propose to him. He was thinking he didn’t want to be with him and then he just discovered that he wanted to spend their lives together, it was too sudden.
But despite having to go from one extreme to the other so quickly, Tim seemed to assimilate at last when those tears turned into ones of happiness and a smile began to grow on his face.
“Yes.” He replied with a sigh of relief. “Yes, I do.”
Jason couldn't help but smile too, happiness flooding him completely, his answer echoing in his head and brightening every part of his being. It didn't take him long to get up to catch him and hold him tight, both of them letting out a relieved laughter. Words weren’t enough.
The tallest wiped the tears of his now fiancé, with affection and devotion.
“I should have thought how difficult is to hide something from a detective.” He said placing a lock of his hair behind his ear. “And this time you didn't even have to do much to discover me.”
Tim smiled and shrugged, his eyes shining with love and relief. Almost seemed that he was going to cry again when he grabbed his hand and put the ring on him carefully. Jason's heart squeezed at the sight because it fit him perfectly, and it was his, all his, forever.
When Tim leaned down to kiss him, he didn't even hesitate. He was more than willing to love his detective for the rest of his days, and he would make sure to tell him in every moment.

I Will be Your Tim Drake for Tonight (3) (Jason Todd/ Reader)
Summary:  Preferring to do anything but your physics project, you decide to accepts Tim’s proposal. It’s simple. He does your project, you try to figure out whether Jason Sionis is criminal. Easy, right?
masterlist
A/n: This takes place in a world where Jason is adopted by Black Mask. Inspired by Building Interest by Zoeleo. The events and characterization in this story are very heavily based on Zoeleo's Long Term Investment series. It is fantastic and I really highly recommend all of her fics.
a/n: For clarification, Reader does have psychic powers but it only lets her sense people's emotions physically. No mind-reading. Her power is more like an overactive sense of empathy which may force her to dissociate into someone else.
There will be violence and mentions of alcoholism (used as coping mechanism for physical pain) and chronic pain.
As for the additional warning, an animal is harmed but it is barely described. I could not bring myself to actual describe it but the aftermath is described.
I also just converted this from an OC so I apologize for any grammatical mistakes.
Without further a do:
Your stomach drops.
Fuck.
Of course, Damian just had to be the one to pick up.
"Hey baby bro, could you pass the phone to dad?"
"I'm sorry who is this?"
This little shit.
"You're such a kidder! Dami, it's me, Tim. "
“Ah yes, Drake-” You can hear Tim choke in the background. “What do you want?”
“Please Dami just pass the phone to dad, I- I really need to talk to him”
“Very well,”
“Tim?” The voice sounded like Bruce’s but the intonation was all wrong. The voice changer Tim and Babs were working on seems to have made progress.
“Hey dad, I- uh. I might have gotten kidnapped.”
Tim makes another choking noise. “Might have?”
“I was at the party. I think I had around 13 drinks. 13 ! Can you believe it? I felt like a right sailor after that, like the harbor workers, y’know? Anyway, I was taking a smoke-”
“Enough!” The large man roared, snatching the phone from you. “Send us $100 million by tomorrow or your kid’ll be shark bait!” Who says that anymore?
“Of course! Of course! I’ll have the money sometime this evening. Please don’t hurt him.”
Tim, God bless him, does not laugh. Tim’s acting needs some work but he sure does know how to act worried.
The line dies and they tie you back up to the post.
“What the hell?!”
“We have to make sure you don’t just runoff.” The large man says tightening your bonds. Truthfully, you’ve felt far worse. After all, corsets exist. However, this was still a close second.
“Do I look like I could outrun a snail?”
“He’s got a point boss. He looks like he hasn’t even seen the sun in ages.”
This, you decide, is true for Tim. When was the last time he went out before dark? Maybe he got sunlight when he stayed over at Eddie’s place.
The large man grabs Jason by the collar and throws him to his men.
The 3 men kick and curse at him. They mock him and beat him down. They wail on him with their fists, their steel-toed shoes, and sometimes brick. Jason takes it all with a crooked grin and a sharp tongue. You watched in awe. Even on the floor, Jason looked sturdy, ferocious, and indomitable.
"They all break, sweet girl."
Jason is on a tiled floor. No, he should be on concrete. His blood is on the tile. They’re hitting him. They’re hitting him with a bat. No. They aren’t supposed to be holding a bat. They were kicking him but now they’re holding a bat. No, She’s holding a bat. There's supposed to be three of them, three men,  but their forms coalesce into her .  You can hear his ribs cracking. Next are his legs. His legs are always next. Then his arm. She'll break each bone in his arms and his hands.  He’s wheezing. His voice sounds hoarse. His voice is too hoarse. He sounds like he’s been starved and dehydrated for at least a day. They’ve only been here for an hour. That isn’t right. Oh God! Now she had a cleaver in her hands.
No!
No!
He doesn’t need to die. She can’t.
no.
No.
No!
The scene crescendos as the tall, dark, sinewy silhouette towering over Jason raises the butcher's knife above her head.
“Harder, daddy!”
“Son?”
The scene of the kitchen fades and the shit-eating grin on Jason melts into view which shifts from amusement to confusion then back to amusement.
You blink seeing his stupid grin far too clearly.
You let a bark of gut-busting laughter out as you strain against the rope. Your brow pinches with concern but based on the scowls you’re receiving they're more focused on the fact that you were laughing like a mad man.
Jason looks like he’s about to laugh from the absurdity as well when the man in charge picks him up again tossing him into a chair. The other men tie him down binding his wrists and ankles.
"I've had worse." He spits out.
The phone rings again, the dial tone echoing. Jason looks like hell with his face swollen and bruises beginning to bloom on every surface but he still looked like he was 5 seconds from starting a fight.
The large man punches Jason hard in the gut knocking the air out of his lungs as the dial tone cuts off.  “Hear that, Sionis? Your little bitch is pretty soft.”
Oh God, are they serious?
“Who is this? Nevermind. You ok there, sweetheart?” Roman Sionis’ ‘concerned’ voice carries over the line.
They are.
“Nothing I can't handle, daddy.” Jason chuckles with the utmost casualness. You, on the other hand,  instantly want to disinfect your brain. Thankfully, before your mind could wander somewhere it can't return from,  the big man growls into the phone.
“Don't you recognize the voice of the man whose life you've ruined?!”
“You've gotta be more specific than that. I've ruined quite a few lives but I would like to know whose brain I need to put a bullet in.”
“IT'S ME  BRUNO HARDIN!”
“Doesn't ring any bells.” Roman deadpans almost sounding completely disinterested. “Sweetheart, you remember anyone like that?”
“Nope,” Jason replies letting the p pop. It seemed like a strange sort of triumph before it all crashes down with another swift punch to the ribs.
You stare at the strange scene torn between amusement and horror.
“Take this seriously!” Bruno roars.
"I'm taking this about as seriously as it deserves."
A part of you thought 'yeah this is ridiculous enough to warrant nonchalance' while the other part wanted to scream.  On one hand, even you found his identity anticlimactic. Doesn’t he know just how many small-time businesses Roman has ruined? He’d be lucky to get into the top 50. It’s not like he was running a pretty ethical establishment either.  On the other hand, your freaking kid is getting the shit kicked out of him. Emote damn it.
“Jason. Don’t you worry. Daddy’s going to take care of this. Your Uncle D happens to be in town. He’s on his way to pick you up. Love you, baby. See you soon.”
The line dies. Your stomach sinks further somehow. You don’t know if the nausea is due to the fact that the line died, the threat, or the number of times the word ‘daddy’ came up. Who the hell is Uncle D? How is he supposed to help? Your gaze trails to Jason who is now lowering his head to the floor seemingly tired. Maybe that last punch finally drained the fight from him.
“You're all so fucked.” Jason barks out in a fit of laughter. The men around him, jumping from the volume of his voice.
Bruno grabs Jason by the collar and begins to shake him as if the  “Shut the fuck up you little bitch! Whoever your Uncle D is he's-”
“Deathstroke”
You feel like someone kicked you in the chest. First of all, Uncle D? Really? You guess that there are worse hills to die on. This was somehow weirder than hearing Faust and her siblings call him pops. Second of all, Fuck. You'd never gotten your asshanded to you by Deathstroke but based on how banged up the Titans looked after fighting him this wasn't gonna be pretty.  All you could hope for was that you wouldn't get caught in the crossfire. Although, the image of Deathstroke grudgingly letting a kid call him Uncle D lightens your mood a bit.
Bruno throws Jason on the floor hard enough for his body to bounce. Like Jason earlier, Bruno is radiating murder.
Just run, you thick motherfucker.
You, being the ‘nice’ Wayne kid that you are,  try to tell him as much but sadly that was halted by shattering glass. A flurry of black, orange, and metal crash through the glass and cut through the crowd of men.
They fire at him, panic making their faces even paler. They hit him, bullets sinking into his flesh, blood splatters but none of it fazes him. He skewers and cuts them down with ease. His swords and suit are liberally decorated with their blood when it’s all done.
He steps over Bruno’s body. From the grunt that comes out, Bruno is still alive. Dumb bastard doesn’t know how to play dead. He’ll die from blood loss anyway.
“Hey, kid-” Deathstroke greets tersely,  picking up Jason’s nearly limp body.  “We’re gonna get you home.” He slings Jason’s arm over his shoulder.
“Wait!”
Deathstroke stops sounding slightly annoyed.
Jason turns to you, who’s still unhappily tied to a post.  “We gotta get him out.” He rasps.
“Kid, you’re the only one I’m getting paid to rescue.”  Deathstroke helpfully informs as he carefully adjusts his hold on the struggling young man. You blow out a breath somehow more irritable than scared.  “Just cut me out. I can make my way back just fine.”
“Walk in Gotham, are you stupid?” Jason hisses. The concern bleeding through.
“Which one of us charged at their captors while they were armed?”
Jason scowls at you with a petulant twist in his lips. “Yanno what,  Leave ‘im.”
“Ok, ok, I’m sorry and yeah I’ll be fine. I know where to avoid. Just please don’t leave me with them” you plead, throwing away any pride you held as you glance at the most likely dead bodies. Deathstroke cuts you out. Your skin feels raw but you’re otherwise unharmed.
You walk out of the warehouse and Dick practically throws himself at you. “Oh thank god, they didn’t shoot you in the head.” He mumbles into your wig.
"Why would you think they would shoot me in the head?"
Dick pulls back and frowns at you through the domino mask.  “You aren’t exactly the most pleasant-”
“ We were model hostages.” you squawk.
Jason snorts far too loudly to be helpful.
You glare at him but you weren’t about to say fuck off to him while he has one of the world’s deadliest assassins right next to him.
Deathstroke coughs.  “Well if you don’t mind we’ll be taking our leave.”
Dick holding you protectively, glares but says nothing. Maybe he does but you faint before you can hear it.
A/n: Thanks for reading!

Fates Be Damned - fic
Characters: Dick Grayson, Bruce Wayne, Damian Wayne, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Cassandra Cain, Selina Kyle Summary: Batman Incorporated was waging war against Leviathan. But Dick would be damned if he let Damian become a casualty to this fight. A/N: A fix it for Batman Inc. 4 from like five years ago!!! Because I’m clearly up with the times. Bruce’s starting dialogue is from that issue. I don’t want to call this a hurt/comfort fic, because it’s not a happy ending for everyone, and I’d be interested in anyone thoughts on the ending I chose because it’s not a ‘everything tied up neatly’ kind of ending like I tend to do. Anyways, this all happens over a year as hinted at. Alfred was away in the last part, and he is still in constant contact with Dick and Damian. Dick and Damian keep up their training, though really do enjoy not being vigilantes. No, Damian does not take Dick’s last name. Batcow and Goliath, of course, come with them to live in the ‘burbs, and the family visits often. Bruce does too, eventually.

It felt like someone shocked him. Or maybe slapped him, or just said the sky is falling.
Because this…this wasn’t happening, right?
He looked to his brothers, to Tim and Jason, and saw his own near-revulsion mirrored on their own faces.
So it wasn’t a dream. Or a miscommunication.
Here they were, in the middle of a goddamn war, all hands on deck. And Bruce just told one of their ranks, just told Damian – little, mostly innocent, eleven-year-old Damian – that he had to leave the life he chose, the life he loved, and go back to his mother, the one who hurt him more than anyone in the world.
And Damian’s face is wrecked. Dick had never seen this child cry, but here, there were tears in his eyes, and terror in his voice, as he tried to reason with Bruce, explain how much he gave up, how much he did. Just to belong, just to be loved by his old man.
How much he didn’t want to go.
But Bruce… Jesus Christ, Bruce just shook his head.
“If you don’t, Gotham, the world, will be plunged into chaos. And you, Damian…” Bruce sighed, like he was disappointed. “You’re going to be responsible…”
It was out of his mouth before he thought about it.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” Dick snapped. Damian jumped in surprise, and Bruce turned so quick he may have given himself some sort of whiplash.
But any surprise Batman had immediately disappeared. “Excuse me?”
“He’s eleven, Bruce.” Dick hissed, balling his hands into fists. Damian had looked away now, stepped forward and grabbed Bruce’s cape to regain his attention, plead his case. “He’s eleven years old, your fucking son, and not only are you blaming him for this mess, you’re going to force him to go back to Talia?”
Bruce’s shoulders slumped. “Dick, you don’t understand…”
“The woman who put him through hell for most of his life?” Dick’s fury rose with every word, and he could feel his muscles start to shake with adrenaline. “The woman who put a fucking hit out on him, and you’re going to send him back to her?!”
“Dick…”
“No. No.” Dick started shaking his head. In his periphery he could see Tim and Jason glancing at each other, Damian still trying to take back Bruce’s attention. “You know what? No, I’m done. Because I let you take him back, I let you break up our partnership and regain guardianship even though I knew, deep down, it was a terrible idea, for both him and you. I let you uproot him and isolate him. I even let you abandon him for your rendezvous with Selina, or any time you felt the need to play Brucie Wayne halfway across the world.”
He stepped forward now, his breathing heavy as he got into Bruce’s face.
“But you must think I’m a goddamn idiot if you think I’m going to let you sacrifice him just because you and Talia can’t get along, and got the whole world involved in your stupid spat.” He poked Bruce in the chest now. Over and over, to emphasize his words. “Damian is innocent in this, and for you to have the audacity to blame him…” Dick bit his lip, and shook his head. “The needs of the many don’t outweigh the needs of the few. Not here. Not with your own fucking son, Bruce.”
“Dick, if there was another way you know I’d-”
“I’m done listening. I’m done being your soldier in this. I’m done letting you hurt him, for nothing.” Dick growled. Without waiting for a reply, he shoved past him to where Damian was standing, and scooped the boy up into his arms. “I’m taking him, and we’re going into hiding until this garbage is finished. I’ll help run computers with Oracle, and ping the communicators when I’m online.”
“Dick…!”
“I’m disappointed, Bruce.” Dick glanced back, just once, holding the back of Damian’s head. “You’ve made better plans in worse situations. And the one you settled on here, to save the day, was to sell your son back to the demon?” He narrowed his eyes. “Shame on you.”
Damian didn’t argue as Dick moved towards the door. Just wrapped his arms and legs as tightly around Dick as he dared. His breaths were shallow and hiccupped, and Dick could feel the tears splashing away from his cheeks.
“G-G-Grayson.” He murmured.
“I know.” He whispered, kissing Damian’s head. He couldn’t tell him it was okay. Because it was a lie, and Dick couldn’t do that to him. Not right now. “But I’ve got you.”
Damian dug his traumatized, trembling fingers into Dick’s neck.
“I’ve got you now, kiddo.”
~~
Dick had been right, in the end. Bruce did come up with a better solution.
The world was saved. Talia and her army were dealt with. Blah, blah, blah.
That’d been about a month and a half ago, and it was still Dick’s kitchen table in a tiny rented house away from any city that Damian sat at every morning to eat his breakfast.
Bruce had called a week after the battle ended. Told Dick about the final fight between him and his once-lover, the injuries sustained. How everyone, from family to communities, were coping with the aftermath.
Dick listened politely, waiting for the real reason for the call.
“So…yeah. Everything has been settled. Talia won’t be bothering us again for a long time.” Bruce huffed, trying to be nonchalant. “You can…bring Damian home whenever it’s convenient for you.”
Bruce couldn’t see it, but Dick smiled. A sneering, cold, angry smile. “Who said I was bringing him home at all?”
And then he hung up.
Damian had been in the room during the call, drawing in the corner and taking pictures on his phone of his dozing pets. He’d heard everything Bruce said, just as he heard everything Dick said.
So when Dick tossed his phone on the table and looked up, it was no surprise that Damian was staring at him.
“What?”
“You…” Damian tilted his head thoughtfully. “You’re not making me go back to Father?”
Dick blinked as he leaned back in his chair. “Do you want to?”
Damian’s eyes lowered, his lips twisted in thought.
“…No.” He decided, looking back to his art. “I…after what happened, I…don’t think I’m ready to see Father yet.”
“Okay.” Dick smiled. “Sounds good to me.”
Dick turned on the TV. Damian went back to drawing.
~~
It was no surprise when the Batman showed up at his door in the middle of the night.
“Took you long enough.” Dick muttered dryly when he answered the door with crossed arms. Stephanie, Batgirl, stood sheepishly behind him, clearly not wanting to be there as his partner.
“I need to see him.” Bruce growled.
“Well, he’s sleeping.” Dick smirked. “So how about you call again in the morning and make an appointment.”
“He’s my son, Dick.”
“Yeah, well.” Dick shrugged. “Maybe not anymore.”
And Dick knew Bruce well enough to see the hit that was coming, and block it.
“Oh, going to break into my house and beat me up?” Dick laughed, even as Stephanie tried to get between them. “Where was all this concern during you and Talia’s little tiff, hm?”
Before the fight could continue, there was a harsh whisper from further into the house. “Oh, will you two knock it off?”
Bruce hesitated, and glanced over Dick’s shoulder to find Tim standing at the mouth of another hallway. “If you two wake him up, I’m kicking you both out. He has a test in the morning and needs his rest.”
Bruce blinked, allowing Stephanie to push him away from Dick. “Test?” He looked at his eldest. “He’s in school?”
“Well he’s not getting private lessons from Alfred anymore, so I enrolled him here.” Dick pretended to dust dirt from his shoulders. “He’s still struggling with being a child genius and making friends, so Tim comes by and helps tutor him sometimes, since he knows what that’s like.”
“…This wasn’t a permanent move, Dick. For either of you.” Bruce scolded.
“Yeah, well. Maybe I decided it should be.” Dick spat. “He doesn’t need to be Robin, he doesn’t need to be out there on the streets like that anymore. And…maybe I don’t either. Haven’t thought about Nightwing once since we moved to the suburbs, if I’m honest.”
“Domesticated? You?” Steph snorted. “I’ll believe it when I see it.”
“It’s wild, Steph.” Tim called from behind him.
Dick shot her a warm grin, but Bruce cut their own small moment off. “I want to speak to my son.”
“Well, A, I’m also your son and you’re speaking to me, so. You already have.” Dick mocked. “And B, you’ll talk to him when I say you can. Which is not right now.”
Bruce tried one of his tactics, pushed into Dick’s space and glared down at him. “He’s not your son, Dick.”
Dick shrugged, keeping his sneer. “Maybe he actually is.”
Dick smoothly backed away. “You’re welcome to a drink, snack or nap while you’re here. And if you don’t want any of those, then you can just get the fuck out, I guess.”
“Dick…” Tim sighed as Dick stood next to him.
Dick smiled. “You play host, Timmy. I’m beat. Mind if I hit the hay?”
He didn’t wait for an answer, just disappeared down the hall behind Tim.
Later, after he’d entertained Bruce and Stephanie, and gave them a little more insight into Dick and Damian’s new life – Dick’s job at a youth center, teaching each other how to cook, Damian’s friends – Tim checked on Dick before heading to the guest bedroom himself.
Dick wasn’t in his own room, and that didn’t surprise Tim at all. He sighed, turned to Damian’s room, and found Dick in there, all but octopus-wrapped around Damian.
Tim frowned at the escrima stick his sleeping older brother still held at the ready, though.
~~
It was never stated out loud, or made official.
Damian lived with Dick now. Permanently.
It was one of those things that everyone knew, but no one talked about, at least, not in front of those involved.
Dick’s friends quietly texted each other about it. The Justice League murmured amongst themselves when Bruce wasn’t on the satellite. The rest of the Batfamily did what they could to just bridge the gap.
Bruce was more closed off than normal, and he talked about his eldest and youngest less and less. Even their codenames of Nightwing and Robin were like forbidden words.
There were cases with their uniforms in the cave now. And Batman’s other partners found him staring at them often.
Dick and Damian didn’t patrol anymore, and Robin and Nightwing hadn’t been seen since the War of Gotham, and the fight against Leviathan.
Most people thought they were dead. No one corrected them.
But Dick and Damian seemed to have traded their gauntlets for gardens. They walked the dog around the neighborhood every night. They meal-prepped, had movie nights, attended the local neighborhood block party.
To their neighbors, it was a single young father and his son. Just some normal folks with their not-quite-normal pets, trying to get away from the city life, and the darkness of Gotham. The father was charismatic and handsome. His son a bit aloof, but polite when approached.
They didn’t talk about their past. Didn’t talk about things like the boy’s mother, or any other family. They came from Gotham, that’s all anyone in town knew.
And they were happy, that’s all anyone in town knew, too.

Jason watched him for a few moments, slowly taking a gulp of his beer. Then, he slowly lowered his bottle and smacked his lips thoughtfully.
“You’re too giddy about this.”
Dick looked up from Damian, who was sleeping against his side. The child had fallen asleep after the three had had dinner, and continued to curl into Dick’s side in his slumber as the sun lowered behind the horizon.
“Too giddy about what?”
Jason motioned to Damian. “Being his dad.”
Dick blinked, and then fell into a huffed laugh. “I’m not his dad.”
“I bet he’d beg to differ.” Jason murmured. Paused to look at Damian himself. His chubby cheeks and long lashes. How small he was. “…If you didn’t want to give him back to Bruce in the first place, why did you?”
“I thought it was best for him. He’d always wanted to be with Bruce. It wasn’t my place to keep him from that.” Dick hummed, glancing back down to Damian himself, brushing his hair away from his eyes.
“Could have just asked him.”
“I also didn’t think I was ready to be a dad. It was a lot, that time Bruce was gone. Being Batman, raising him…” Dick shrugged. “I wasn’t doing that great of a job, despite what you all apparently think. And he deserved better.”
“And now after everything that’s happened, do you regret what you did?” Jason asked. “If you could go back, would you have kept him with you instead?”
“…I don’t know.” Dick sighed. “Maybe. If I knew Bruce was going to be this much of a prick, then yes. I would have kept him as far away from Bruce as humanly possible.”
“Well, better late than never on that last bit, right?” Jason snorted. He let the laugh die off as he took another drink of his beer. “You ever going to speak to him again?”
“I speak to him now, Jay, you know that. Just not…you know, frequently.” Dick defended. “But I know you mean in regards to Damian, and…no. I want to talk to Damian about it first, but I don’t think he’s ready.”
“Dick, it’s been months.”
“Yeah, and Bruce was trying to give him away forever.” Dick nearly spat. A sore spot still, Jason assumed. Though he wondered if it was a worse sore spot for Dick or Damian. “It’s…a lot to deal with. You were there, you saw how Damian reacted.”
“Yeah, he cried. Never seen that before.” Jason admitted. “Has he talked about Bruce at all?”
“In passing, and…coldly. Very detached.” Dick’s brows furrowed. “Doesn’t call him Father anymore. Just Bruce. Sometimes even Mr. Wayne.”
“Harsh. Does Bruce know that?” Jason asked.
“Tim knows, and I’m betting he’s mentioned it to him.” Dick explained. “But, I digress. It’s not something I want to push him on. I just…want to be here for him instead. In the interim, whenever he’s ready. Stuff like that.”
“AKA…like a dad.” Jason smirked.
“Shut it.” Dick laughed. “…What’s your thoughts on all this?”
Jason took another drink from his bottle, picked up his phone and read a quick text message. “I think Bruce was a piece of shit, deciding that was the only option for ending that stupid battle.” He placed his phone back down. “And I think you did the right thing by getting Damian out and as far away as possible.”
“Think I should have kept him?”
Jason thought a moment more. “…Yes.” A quick sniff. “And I think you should have gotten him out of the life. You getting out too was just a bonus, I think.”
Dick smiled warmly. “Thanks, Jay.” He inhaled. “I thought I’d miss it more, being Nightwing and all that, but.” He looked down at Damian, ran his hand up and down Damian’s arm. Damian just burrowed deeper into his side. “I don’t.”
“They say having kids changes you.” Jason reminded. “And this time around, you aren’t trying to juggle seven hundred different things. And you’re not grieving.”
“True.” Dick mumbled, staring down at the boy in his arms. “…I hate Bruce for what he tried to do.”
“We all do, I think.” Jason offered. “Damian’s a shitball, but…he didn’t deserve that.”
“Do you think Bruce understands that yet?” Dick asked.
“…I don’t know.” Jason admitted. “It’s hard to tell with him.”
Dick nodded, then slowly leaned his head against Damian’s, looking at Jason with a soft smile.
“Thanks for stopping by, Jay.” Dick hummed. “I really love when you do.” Then a laugh. “And Damian will never admit it, but he does too.”
“Yeah, yeah. It’s what’s family is for, and all that shit.”
Dick laughed and closed his eyes. Jason just took another drink.
~~
“…Do you blame me?” Bruce, not Batman, asked, though his cape waved softly behind him. Cassandra and Tim glanced at each other, then to Bruce’s back, as he did not face them. Selina tilted her head. “Do you hate me?”
“Hate, no.” Selina hummed. “But blame? Well, Bat. What you almost did was terrible. Would you blame us if we did?”
“It was…” Bruce looked down at the streets below them. “I didn’t think I had another choice.”
“But in the end, you did.” Selina reminded. She looked at the younger two heroes, gave them an encouraging smile. They didn’t return it. “You found another solution that didn’t threaten your child’s life.”
“It was…” Cassandra offered. “A…poor choice.”
“And the only reason we don’t hate you is because Dick stepped in and stopped it from happening.” Tim added. “He saved Damian…and if he hadn’t gotten in your way, this conversation would be going very differently.”
Bruce closed his eyes, swayed slightly in the wind. “Would it make a difference if I said I was sorry?”
“We’re not the ones you should be apologizing to.” Selina sighed. “You know that, Bat.”
Bruce didn’t open his eyes. “…Do you think he’s happy?”
“I know he is.” Tim almost hissed. It was harsh and angry, but controlled, contained. Businesslike, and so very Tim. “He’s probably happier than he’s ever been, which is funny to say since you broke his heart and he’s still trying to put those pieces back together.”
“And better,” Cassandra cut in. “He is…safe.”
“And alive.” Selina continued.
No one spoke after that, for just a moment. Let those words – happy, safe, alive – linger between them, and float through the air into the Gotham night.
“…I miss him. I miss him and Dick both.” Bruce whispered. “Am I allowed to?”
Selina walked up behind him and put a hand on his shoulder. “You’re allowed to have emotions, Bruce.” A smirk, just for him. “In fact, we’re all pretty sure a lack of emotions is what got you here in the first place.”
Bruce tried to smile back to her. It didn’t feel right.
“…But to answer your question.” Tim exhaled, like he was exhausted. “No, we don’t hate you. We’re mad-”
“Pissed.” Cassandra interjected.
“-but would we be standing here if we hated you?”
~~
It’d been ten months.
Ten months of Damian living with him, away from Bruce – and they hadn’t talked about it. Not once. Not even a mention, or a second.
It made him anxious, worrying about what might be clouding Damian’s brain, but it also made him happy. Because Damian seemed freer here, outside of Gotham, away from the costumes.
Away from his father.
He smiled so much out now. Laughed out loud, let himself feel.
And as much as he knew they needed to talk about it, Dick just didn’t want to wreck that.
But still – the tension of the topic was palpable. And Dick didn’t want that to get worse.
So it wasn’t his plan to talk about it right now, as they lay in the backyard, resting against Batcow, gazing at the stars above them.
But as he watched Damian pointing constellations out to his dog between them, the words just slipped out.
“I’m sorry.”
Damian looked up at him, confused. “For?”
Dick just kept staring at his charge, his voice quiet. Mournful. “For what Bruce did to you.”
Damian’s creased brows smoothed. He glanced down, reaching out to pet Titus’ head, and shrugged.
“I wish it didn’t. I wish I could have stopped him before he ever said anything.” Dick whispered. “I wish I didn’t have to take you away.”
“But I’m glad you did.” Damian interjected immediately, eyes fierce when he met Dick’s eyes once more. “Who knows where I would be right now if you hadn’t.”
Dick tried to give a little smile at that.
“…How are you feeling, though? Are you doing okay?” Dick asked. “Are you…happy?”
Damian leaned back, stared thoughtfully up at the stars.
Then smiled.
“Happier than I’ve been in a long time.” Damian decided. “A very long time.”
Dick allowed himself his own grin then, then shifted to pull Damian into his side and kiss his head.
“Do you want to talk about it?” Dick murmured into his hair. Damian merely shrugged again. “…Well, if you ever do, I’m here, okay?”
Damian looked up at him. His face was open and his smile was bright.
“I know you are.”
~~
The manor was quiet, that was the first thing Damian noticed as he stepped in the front door.  Quiet and dusty.
He didn’t take off his shoes, didn’t plan to be here long, just looked around as he made his way towards his father’s study.
The house was so empty, he could hear the scratch of a pen from down the hall. When he reached the door, the noise was almost deafening.
He stood there, though, for just a moment. Collected himself, inhaled. Then pushed the door open.
Bruce was at his desk, proofreading some sort of document for Wayne Enterprises. There was the shadow of a beard around his face, and his hair was messy. He looked tired, but not Batman tired.
Old man tired.
He looked up at the movement of the door, and his eyes widened as he registered who it was. He learned back in his chair, braced the armrests like he was about to stand, but Damian held up his hand to wave him off.
“I’m not staying.” He said quickly. “Just…wanted to stop by.”
“…What are you doing here?” Bruce asked quietly. “In Gotham, I mean.”
“Grayson is having lunch with Gordon.” Damian hummed. “I asked to tag along, said I wanted to see a friend too.”
“…He doesn’t know you’re here.” Bruce concluded.
“No. But I will tell him later, when we’re finished.” Damian nodded. He hesitated for a moment, looked around the room, at the art and style. He didn’t feel any sense of nostalgia, though. Didn’t miss this place at all.
He sighed, and looked back at Bruce.
“…Father.” The word sounded strange, he hadn’t said it in so long. “I know we haven’t talked or seen each other since…since that day.” Damian started. He could see the pain in Bruce’s eyes immediately. The guilt. The regret. “Both through my own choices and Grayson’s interventions.”
Bruce waited, looked like he was holding his breath.
“But I just want you to know that I forgive you.” Damian said plainly. “I forgive you for what happened.”
Bruce watched for a moment, then slumped. “You don’t have to.” He whispered. “I know I don’t deserve it.”
“Debatable.” Damian shrugged. “But that doesn’t change anything, not from my perspective. I forgive you.”
Bruce looked down.
“So don’t…feel guilty. It’s okay.” Damian offered. “I...want you to be happy.”
“I’ll be happy when you come home.” Bruce admitted, not looking up. “…I miss you.”
Damian didn’t seem to expect that response. Blinked in surprise, then looked guilty himself.
“I feel that I am home.” Damian murmured. “With Grayson.”
Bruce closed his eyes.
“And I apologize for that, I know it’s not something you wanted to hear.” Damian sighed. “But…I’m happy to extend an invitation to you. To visit whenever you like.”
Bruce didn’t open his eyes. “Dick won’t like that.”
“I’ll get him to come around.” Damian paused then. “He won’t say it, but he forgives you too, or at least is in the process of it. He was only upset because your decision was not what he felt was best for me, and that’s all he wants.”
Bruce did look up at that.
“He just wants what’s best for me. And I’ve found that the life we’ve adopted since we left is that.”
“That’s…good.” Bruce forced himself to admit. “I’m glad. For you and Dick both.”
“Thank you.” Another hesitation. “And thank you for everything you’ve given me thus far. I appreciate it more than I can ever say, even with our last meeting what it was.”
Bruce flashed a grim smile. Thank you for introducing me to Dick, is what Damian wouldn’t say.
“…But I better get going. Like I said, I can’t stay. And I actually do have a friend I’d like to visit.” Damian ended. “…It’s good to see you…Father.”
“You as well, Damian.” Bruce stood. “Thank Dick for me. For protecting you when I should have.”
“I will.” Damian promised. Stopped again, like he didn’t know what to do next, then merely gave a quick wave. “Goodbye, Father.”
“Goodbye, Damian.”
Damian nodded, and disappeared back into the hall. Bruce didn’t follow.
Just sat back down, and hid his face in his hands as he heard the front door close.

What if for Omega Gotham University AU Dick’s never met Jason face-to-face and is rejecting solely based on the fact that he’s flattered by the idea but he’s happily in a relationship. Is this a capes universe? Anyway maybe down the line he and Kori break up and when Jason’s over for dinner with Dami he finally meets the omega for the first time in person! Dami’s like you had your chance Richard! So begins the secret war for Jason’s hand. Jason just wants to graduate top of his class.
Now I'm thinking about what if in the University AU Jay starts to hang around the manor more and more since Damian is very adamant they start building up their bond NOW to make it stronger in the future and then, someday, Dixk and Koro break it off shortly before the wedding and Dick is heartbroken and starts spending more time at the manor again as well to take comfort from his pack and in the beginninf, he really isn't interested in Jay. (1/?)
His girlfriend just dumoed him and he is hesrtbroken. But as time passes (months? Years?), he starts seeing the world and other possibilities with open eyes again and suddenly he can see all the appeal Damian made sure to tell him off when he first introduced Jay. Damian, fully into puberty by now, is everything but thrilled, and Dick has the greates conflict bc on one hand that's his baby brother and hw's in love, not to mention all the social norms he would break by persuing Jay now (2/?)
that Dami's picked him, but Jay's just to cute and Dami was right,he would be a perfect mate. Dami more than agrees with that and gets a little territorial with Jay to 'strengthen his claim'. All the while Jay is just over there like.... what? (3/3)
_________XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX________
I don’t know if you’re the same Anon, anon, but I put these two together, because  this speaks to me.
BUT
What IF – listen to me, what if the situation gets kind of ridiculous, because we’ll start with Jason at 17 and  Damian at 12, and Dick is 19-20, and he DOES marry Kori, and they’re happy, but… well, Kori isn’t an omega, she’s an alien and she loves Dick, but she knows there’s something he’s missing – that his pack is missing, so she starts to nudge him towards maybe listening to his baby brother and that omega he’s talking about – that would unify the family if they had an omega, yes? She’s not opposed to expanding her little family unit either;]
So Dick starts to pay attention and, damn, by the time Jay is 19 he grew and filled out, and he has this incredible nerdish charm, but he’s also training boxing in the meanwhile (therapist advised him to pick up sport and he picked up defensive one;]) so he’s also a bit stacked and growing taller with every month and Dick – who has a wife almost 6 inches taller than him – is already interested>>
Pity that Damian is so defensive all of a sudden, claiming the omega for himself only and Dick is like, Damin, he hasn’t agreed to anything yet, this is not middle ages you can’t claim someone who isn’t willing. But Damian is like, no, he will be mine, I just have to keep him available until I’m of age and able to properly court him! And he was doing well at it in the last couple years – at the Academy it’s known that if an alpha makes a move towards Todd, he will have a Wayne heir on their back so everyone stays away – and Jason, who never had a good track record with alphas or people in general, is kinda grateful for the overprotective (or so he thinks) baby alpha hanging around, because people leave him alone…
And in time Jason gets used to the kid and the fact that sometimes his butler/chauffeur will drive them somewhere to have ice cream, and while they’re at it help Jay with his English homework a bit (Alfred, as it happens, tends to agree with Damian, the pack would surely gain with such an omega and the boy deserves a better life than he’s got so far, so he’s willing to play into Damian’s little scheme) and every once in a while he’ll be invited to the Manor for Holidays
“It’s in poor taste to leave a friend of Master Damian to spend the Christmas alone, young sir. I will hear no excuses, there’s a place at the table set for you.”
Jason assume sit’s because Damian has so few friends that the family tries to keep the ones he does have happy – and he’s not entirely wrong;] – so he comes over and Alfred takes care of him. Bruce is also there, inviting and very smooth, and Jason is impressed and so, so does not believe that this is his life now. Then he meets the ever elusive Dick Grayson and is like, wow:O
So, while Dami and Dick hash it out between them for the right to have an omega, disaster strikes and the Drakes are killed and Bruce decides to take their son into his pack – the rich of Gotham will tear the kid apart – and it’s all noble and shit, but… Tim is an omega. And that changes things. Damian is like, oh no, how am I supposed to deal with two omegas in my pack?? Because he’s convinced that he’ll be the head after Bruce and will gear nothing else;]
And Timmy causes the pack dynamic to change around him – and Jason, who started to slowly cotton on to the fact that the Waynes may be trying to court him (only took him 3 years=_=) is struck with the thought that oh, now they won’t need him anymore. Thing about omegas entering new packs is that they undergo a settling period where they hash out the prime position in subtle ways – and Jason was on the way to settling into that position slowly, but Tim has now more claim as a legit adoptee, so they both feel unsure and wrong-footed, and the alphas around them are not helping (alphas don’t understand that process) and Jason decides – as the older one – to step away and lick his wounds alone, like he usually does, because Jason Todd can’t have nice things.
Except Tim won’t have that, because Tim is a baby (17) and doesn’t know what to do as an omega with a pack that acknowledges him Waynes are intimidating and scary and he wants to be good, but he was raised traditionally, where the omega has to be seen, but not heard, and he just… he doesn’t know… he just lost his patents, he can’t be an omega of a pack, he needs help, he always looked at Jason and admired him and he never wanted to unseat himTAT
Alfred sets out to fix this, but, surprisingly, it’s Bruce that goes to Jason and takes him out to a nice dinner and hashes out the situation – the truth of Damian’s odd behavior, he way their pack would very much like Jason to join them, because they’re all a little bit broken and Jason is an omega that just fits, and that, if Damian and Dick are a bit too much, then Bruce is perfectly willing to Mark Jay and make him a part of the pack. Not because they expect him to birth them pups until Tim comes of age, but because they like him.
And Jason is like, oh. He never, he never even considered having pups, he never though he’d have the security to have his own kids, never trusted into alphas giving him a choice in the matter, so he stayed away from them, but now it’s… well, it’s a nice thought, isn’t it? An idea of pups that will be cared for by a pack even when he decides to go back to school or work, that will be provided for and loved… that never even occurred to him. Even if he was the second of the pack, because Tim has better breeding, that would be more than he’d ever have otherwise…it’s tempting. He doesn’t know if he’d have kids, but the option being available is a novelty… And no one in the Wayne pack is hard on the eyes, to be honest…
…and in his deepest fantasies, in his heart of hearts, he used to dream of this, of being rescued from his crappy life by a handsome, wealthy alpha, of becoming someone’s mate – and life cured him from believing these fantasies, he set out to save himself and managed to do it, but… it’s still there, in the back of his head the little voice is weeping with joy, because this is one stupid wish he had as a kid coming true if he lets it.
And Bruce wasn’t raised in a barn, he’s aware this is a monumental decision, so he leaves Jason to think it through and makes it clear that when Jay makes his decision they will start the courting process – a proper one this time, to give him time to get used to the idea and change his mind if necessary. They won’t jump into it, he will have to accept everyone in the pack – and there’s more kids Bruce has that Jason met so far – and he doesn’t want to tear Jay away from studies, either, since it’s so important to him. Bruce is being perfectly transparent about it, like, I am perfectly ready to get the professors to home school you for the rest of the degree so we can focus on courting, but I know it’s important for you to make it through and show them that an omega can handle university just as well, and I respect that, courting will have to take a backseat. Even though every instinct in his head argues that if they don’t secure that sterling omega now they may lose him:O

Sometimes, Tim hated his life.
Actually, a lot of the time.
If he were honest with himself, he’d admit he’d spent most of his 15 years hating his life.
He didn’t like to be honest with himself, though.
Growing up, he always felt so cold. So alone. His house was dark. Big. Quiet.
Sure, he had nannies for the first several years. A rotating assortment of girls in their early 20s, each one taking what seemed like a well-paying, easy job. Some of them were really nice, others Tim didn’t much care for.
But no matter how great they were, they always left, and Tim was left alone.
Eventually, though, he was too old for nannies, and he started spending his time alone. So many hours spent walking the halls of his house, listening to his footsteps echo.
Music helped. Playing music helped liven up the place, but no matter how loud he played it, it never filled in the void.
Tim spent many nights wishing he were someone else. Somewhere else. That people cared about him.
Then he met Batman. And that all changed.
Suddenly he had a drive in life. A mission. And while it wasn’t immediate, he eventually won over Bruce and Alfred and Dick, and then he had a family.
A family. A purpose in life. A reason to smile.
He was happy. Really, truly happy.
Sure, sometimes he felt down. Like when his parents popped in for a few days and didn’t even notice his black eye. Shouldn't parents care about that? Or when his mom sent another email to say they wouldn’t make it back in time for Christmas. Or when they forget his birthday. But overall, his life was great.
Being Robin was amazing.
With being Robin came his work with the Teen Titans, too. His friends. His second family.
Life was great.
But then his parents died. One after the other. That dragged him down again, but not nearly as bad as he thought it would. More than anything was the guilt that it wasn’t dragging him down. They were his parents. Shouldn’t he be sadder? Bruce never got over his parents’ death, while Tim moved on fairly easily.
Maybe that was because Bruce Wayne adopted him.
Tim was convinced that nothing would ever drag him down ever again after that. The man he’d been looking up to for years. His neighbor. His mentor. His boss. Wanted to be his dad. Loved him enough to want to be his dad. To want to take care of him. To lay claim to Tim forever as his.
Just the mere idea that anyone wanted him like that was enough to make Tim want to cry from relief.
Nothing would ever drag him down again, he was sure.
Then Damian fucking Wayne appeared. The devil incarnate himself.
Tim cursed the name of Damian Wayne as he sat on the bathroom floor, clutching the sides of the toilet while the entire contents of his stomach made their way back out.
Damian fucking Wayne.
If it weren’t for that stupid brat, Tim would still be happy. Everyone would still love Tim. But no. Damian had to come around and steal Bruce away from him.
“This doesn’t change anything,” Bruce had said.
Yeah fucking right. Didn’t change anything his ass. It changed everything.
Because “oh Tim, Damian needs our love and patience. Be nice to him. You’re older. Be patient.”
Bruce ‘dying’ just made everything so much worse. Of course, he wasn’t actually dead, not that anyone would listen to Tim.
His disappearance made everything so much worse. At least when Bruce was still there, Tim was Robin. Damian might have been able to steal Tim’s dad, but he couldn’t steal Robin away from him, because Tim was Robin. Tim had earned his role.
Then Bruce ‘died,’ and Dick became Batman. And Batman fired Tim and replaced him with Damian Fucking Wayne. Tim was definitely hacking into the Social Security Administration to officially change Damian’s middle name to ‘Fucking.’
So Damian stole Bruce. He stole Dick. And now he had stolen Robin.
That was all Tim had. All that made him happy in life.
Without any of that, he was just that sad little boy all alone in his parents’ house.
It was dark. It was cold. It was lonely.
Maybe Tim could forgive the brat. After all, he was only ten. He had been raised by the League of Assassins. Tim could be the bigger man and give the child a chance.
Except.
That stupid fucking little piece of shit kept trying to kill him.
On top of that, every. single. day. he put Tim down. Took every little insecurity the teenager had floating in his head and vocalized them, threw them back in his face, and made sure Tim was aware of how absolutely useless he was.
Tim wanted to scream. He wanted to scream and cry. Scream, cry, and murder Damian Fucking Wayne.
And it didn’t help that Damian had poisoned him. Poisoned. Like they were in a damn soap opera. A medieval drama. A poorly written story.
Damian Fucking Wayne had poisoned Tim’s food, and now Tim was in the bathroom, tossing up the entire contents of his stomach.
Tim hated Damian.
“Drake,” Damian hissed from outside the door, irritating Tim further, “what is your problem? The noises you are emitting are disgusting.”
“Fuck off, you bastard,” Tim shouted between wretches, “as if you don’t already know.”
“Watch your tongue,” the brat snapped, kicking at the door, “It is obvious you are vomiting, I want to know why you are doing so in my bathroom.”
Tim sat back against the tub, pushing back the sweaty locks of hair that had plastered themselves to his forehead, and glowered at the closed door. “You fucking poisoned me, you piece of shit.”
With an exaggerated huff, Damian kicked open the door and glared daggers at Tim, the venom in his voice almost palpable. “I did no such thing.”
“Get out,” Tim shouted as he slipped off one of his sneakers to throw at Damian, “can’t you leave me alone for one damn day? After trying to kill me you can at least let me suffer in peace.”
Damian caught the shoe and threw it at the tub behind Tim. “If I wanted you dead,” Damian said coldly, “you’d be dead. Believe me there, Drake.”
“Right, because the multiple attempts you’ve made on my life were just playing with me. Fuck. off.”
“What is going on in here?” Dick shouted, probably lured in by Tim calling Damian names. Stupid Dick Grayson really lived up to his name of ‘Dick’ because he always, always chose Damian’s side.
Damian cut Tim’s line? Oh Tim, shouldn’t you just hide your stuff from him better? Damian poisoned Tim? Oh Tim, don’t call him names. He’s just a child!
Stupid Dick Grayson.
“Drake is sick,” Damian said flatly, crossing his arms. Indifferent to the situation.
“Sick?” Tim screamed, “I’m not sick! You poisoned my food, you fucking demon. Poisoned.”
“I did no such thing!” Damian shouted back, “Stop accusing me of something I did not do or I will poison your food.”
“Damian, don’t poison his food,” Dick said tiredly, “Tim, why do you think he poisoned your food?”
“Because he did,” Tim said, fighting back the urge to just scream unintelligibly until his throat hurt too bad to keep going. To break everything in the stupid apartment. To throw Damian out the damn window. Instead of releasing his rage, however, Tim sat back up and released more of his stomach.
Or, his stomach tried, but all that was coming out anymore was acid.
“Dammit, okay,” Dick said, running out of the room.
“Tt. That’s disgusting.”
“Get,” Tim wheezed, struggling to speak through his sickness, “out.”
“No.”
“Would you two stop?” Dick exasperated, “Damian, leave him alone. Tim, here’s some water to rinse with. I’ve got a second glass to drink out of. We can get you something with electrolytes when you think you’re ready to keep stuff down.”
“I’m not sick,” Tim hissed, taking the glass angrily to rinse his mouth out with, “Damian fucking poisoned me.”
“I did not!” the child shouted, “I did not!”
Dick sighed loudly and waved a hand at Damian. “Okay, just stop yelling.”
With his signature scowl, Damian sneered, “But it wouldn’t be hard. You never check your food. You let your guard down too much.”
“It’s my house!” Tim screamed, throwing the now empty glass at Damian, “I live here. I shouldn’t have to be on guard here.”
“Tt.” Damian evaded the cup easily, the object somehow not shattering as it thudded against the drywall and fell onto the bathroom rug. “You should always be on guard, because it’s when you drop it that your enemies strike.”
“Damian…”
“It’s my house! It’s my fucking house, Damian,” Tim’s voice cracked as he screamed, and he couldn’t keep his face from crumpling as he continued, unable to stop the word vomit spilling out of his mouth, “I should feel safe here. I should be happy here. I was happy here, I was safe, and then you showed up. You stole everything from me. Everything. Even my safety.”
Damian froze in place, a strange expression flickering across his face too fast for Tim to really catch it. He didn’t care, anyway. He just wanted Damian Fucking Wayne to go back to hell.
“Get out,” Tim snarled, tossing his other shoe at Damian “Get out, get out get out get out.” By the end of his demand, all Tim could do was collapse onto the side of the tub and bury his head into his arms. “Go the fuck away,” he cried, so done with the fucking world.
Damian let the shoe hit him this time and just stood there, motionless. Tim didn’t care. If Damian used this as his chance to finally kill Tim, he didn’t care.
He was so done with this.
“Tim,” Dick said so softly from his side, a gentle hand resting on his back, “Tim, what’s going on?”
And for some reason, it wasn’t comforting. What Tim knew was meant to be reassuring, to be kind and nice and comforting, wasn’t. Instead, Dick’s hand felt like ice. It felt like a knife being driven into his back.
Because Dick had chosen Damian over him.
Dick had invited the demon into their lives and allowed him to get away with literal attempted murder.
Repeatedly.
And Tim was so fucking done.
Dick had made his choice, and it wasn’t Tim.
So Tim didn’t need Dick. He didn’t want Dick. All he wanted was to be left alone.
“Go away.”
“Tim-”
“I said get out,” Tim shouted, pushing Dick away this time, “leave me alone.”
And, to Tim’s utter despair, Dick did just that.
He left.
He left and Tim was alone again, just like he’d always been. Like he’d always be.
Now there was more than just pain from being sick in his stomach. There was a deep, cold, emptiness Tim knew he’d never fill.
Because he had no one. And that would never change.
