Summary: They say your life flashes before your eyes just before you die. Dash discovers that his brain has other ideas - namely, focusing on his bisexual awakening (post-reveal Danny/Dash)

Dash thought dying would involve more reminiscing of his life. All those golden memories that flash before your eyes, like in the movies. His first touchdown, his first kiss, that sort of thing.

And yet as he plummeted towards the ground and time seemed to move in slow motion, he found himself annoyed. Of course he wouldn’t get to relive his life’s greatest hits.

Of course he’d be forced to think about the one person he didn’t want to think about, the person who was supposed to be saving him right now.

He hated the thrill that ran down his spine when he thought about that person swooping down, sweeping him up, and flying off with him into the sunset.

Stupid Fenton. Stupid wind-swept dark hair. Stupid endless blue eyes. 

Stupid bisexual awakening moments before death.

Dash closed his eyes. If he was going to die, he might as well just suck it up and face the music. At least then he could die knowing he wasn’t such a coward that he couldn’t finish what he’d started.

Alright Fenton, he thought to himself. You got me.

The ground was getting closer and closer now. He tried to ignore it.

Then, just seconds before impact, he was jolted to the side and he started falling sideways. No, wait. Not falling sideways.

Being carried.

“You’re an idiot, you know that, right Baxter?” Danny’s voice came through the rushing wind.

Dash could only nod mutely and wonder if his racing heart was because of the near-death experience or because of the rescue.

Look, no matter what anyone tries to claim, I wasn’t trying to fall off the building, alright? 

I mean it wasn’t even my idea to have the junior prom on the roof of one of the tallest buildings in Amity Park. I was only on the roof ‘cause that’s where prom was, end of story.

No, I wasn’t sloshed. And I wasn’t high either. I’m not an idiot; I’m not gonna do something that’s gonna get me kicked off the team. People just sometimes fall off of buildings, especially in cities that are literally haunted by ghosts.

God, I swear none of the teachers at Casper have a clue how to handle themselves and all of us around ghosts. Like come on, us students have been involved in way more ghost stuff. We saved all the adults that one time!

Ugh, whatever. Not important. The point is, I didn’t fall off the building on purpose. The ghost that came and crashed the prom just happened to fly right towards me. As I was just standing there, doing nothing. 

… near the edge of the roof.

It caught me by surprise, alright? Like it wouldn’t happen to anyone else. I’m the most athletic kid in school, if a ghost can knock me off my feet, it can happen to anyone.

So yeah, I was basically falling twenty-six stories at breakneck speed. 

Heh. Breakneck. You know, ‘cause landing on the ground would break my - you know what, forget it.

But yeah. Whoop-de-doo, this was how the King of Casper High goes, apparently. Being knocked off the building in a random ghost attack. During junior prom of all things.

Aw man, everyone was watching me, weren’t they? 

I saw a flash of light from back on top of the roof. Thank God, Fenton was finally getting up off his -

Nope. Nuh-uh. We aren’t going there, Baxter.

… oh, who was I kidding. If I was gonna die, I was gonna face it like a man. Face everything head on, you know? Especially ‘cause my life was definitely not flashing before my eyes. Which sucked. There would’ve been some memories I would’ve liked to revisit. Like when I scored my first ever touchdown. That was sweet! Or when I got my car and drove it for the first time. Or my first kiss - 

- argh, no! No, I was not gonna think about kissing, or think about Fenton, or think about his dark hair and how shiny it is, or think about that little face he makes when he’s excited about something, that one is so cu-

- I hate everything.

I hate this. I hated the fact that I was falling towards my certain death. I hated that I had been dumb enough to walk off and hang out towards the edge. I hated the fact that I was even at this lame prom in the first place. I hated that I hadn’t been able to come with the person I really wanted to come with.

I hated that the person I wanted to take to prom was freaking Danny Fenton.

There, alright? I admitted it. I could die happy. 

Except I wasn’t happy. It’s like whenever I think of him, my stomach does all these crazy flips and stuff like I see him doing in the sky all the time, and I can’t tell if it’s ‘cause I hate him or ‘cause I… ugh, don’t hate him. I’m not going any farther than that, nope.

It doesn’t help that it’s not easy to avoid thinking about him. He’s in the majority of my classes, and beyond that, his stupid face is plastered all over the city. Heck, I walk out my front door and there’s a huge billboard with, like, “HOME OF DANNY PHANTOM” written on it, right next to his picture.

It definitely doesn’t help that it’s a really good picture.

You know, shouldn’t he have been helping me? It wasn’t like him to just abandon a civvie like me to the wolves. The wolves in this case being the concrete that was approaching way too quickly for my liking.

It’s whatever. He’s gotta keep everyone else from falling off the roof too, I guess.

Didn’t keep my stomach from doing a freaking trapeze act when I thought about him swooping down and rescuing me. And then he’d look at me with those pretty green eyes and tell me I’m an idiot and I’d sit there and let him because he wouldn’t be wrong.

Yeah. Whatever at this point, right? Not like I’d be alive long enough to live it down, anyway.

I was the idiot in love with Fenton.

Does anyone else know? God, no. I have a rep to maintain, you know! It’s not easy being me. Like I could ever be seen crushing on a loser, whether that loser was a superhero or not.

I mean don’t get me wrong, they guys on the team are like, super chill. It’s not like I’m necessarily worried about them beating me up for liking a guy or anything, but come on. Hundreds of other guys at Casper High and I had to pick on the one guy that was the worst for me to crush on?

And to be honest, I didn’t really feel like trying to justify the fact that I’d gone out with a bunch of girls before. Again, most of the guys on the team aren’t homophobic or anything, but that doesn’t mean they understand everything, like the fact that bi people exist. Honestly, I bet most people think I don’t understand the fact that bi people exist.

Look, I might, ah, help loser-types understand their place, but I have standards. I’m not gonna be a weird bigot about it.

(Also that concrete was definitely getting closer, where the heck was Fenton?)

Except for some reason, even though I was admitting this to myself, I could hear Kwan’s voice in my head, telling me that I wasn’t being totally honest. Kwan, who would definitely be the last person I would think would suspect my secret.

Which probably meant the voice was right.

Okay, so I might, emphasis on might, be the teeniest bit nervous about approaching Fenton. Not scared! Dash Baxter doesn’t do scared. Just, uhh, a little antsy. Like how I get right before a game.

Argh, fine, a lot antsy.

It’s double stupid ‘cause I have no reason to be. He and Manson broke up like, only a couple months after the whole asteroid thing, and it somehow leaked that he swung both ways a little bit after that. He hasn’t gone out with anyone since, which is kind of surprising, really. I would’ve thought a superhero like him would’ve been snatched up right away. 

Especially with how I’ve heard other kids at Casper fawning over him. He’d have the lion’s share of potential partners.

… Oh my God, do not tell me this whole thing was some sort of inferiority complex on my part. I mean sure, I did beat up on him for the better part of middle school and our freshman year, but I stopped, and, again: I’m the King of Casper High. Who wouldn’t want to go out with me?

Apparently my subconscious has decided the one person who wouldn’t want to go out with me is the one person I want to go out with. 

Well, no sense in worrying about it. The ground was getting closer and closer, and really, I was kind of surprised that time felt like it’d slowed down as much as it had. And of course, Fenton and that pretty white hair of his were nowhere in sight. 

Just my luck. 

I closed my eyes. Might as well make my last few moments count, right?

And so I started imagining how things would’ve turned out differently if, let’s say, I’d been able to take Fenton as my date to prom. We would’ve had a blast laughing about Brady, who had definitely been the one to spike the punch and then proceed to chug it. And we would’ve just hung out and talked about sports and space and the stars and anything else he wanted. Then a slow song would’ve come on, and I would’ve taken him out onto the floor and danced with him, hand in hand just like a real couple. His gorgeous blue eyes would’ve had that little mischievous twinkle they get all the time when I inevitably tripped over my own feet while dancing ‘cause I’d be so nervous.

And then he’d laugh and wrap his arms around me, and I would’ve pulled him closer, and we would’ve leaned in all quiet and excited, and his lips would be right there and -

“GAHHH!!”

Okay, I’ve taken some nasty hits during games, but whatever had just plowed into my ribs hurt like crazy. Was it the ground? Was I still alive?

A quick scan told me that yes, somehow I was still alive? 

And it wasn’t the ground that I’d crashed into. Or, more accurately in this case, crashed into me.

White hair stung my cheeks as it whipped around in the wind. 

“Jeez, Baxter, what were you thinking?” came Fenton’s voice. He set me down on the ground and fixed me with a look that sent my heart racing. “Why on earth were you that close to the edge?”

I couldn’t help it. I closed the gap between us. 

His lips were cold and chapped. Totally different than any girl I’d ever kissed.

I broke it off. He stared back at me with his wide eyes. I just grinned and asked, “Wanna go to prom with me?”

Whenever this scenario is mentioned, I always think about Lilidia first, since Lilia is kind of a nerd himself + wouldn’t mind dressing up. In fact I did draw this once, if you consider a maid outfit a cosplay… we might revisit the theme of cosplay in Idia smut sometime, it’s a very fun one.

Idia desperately needs to get fucked in a cosplay, that’s for sure.

Then halfway through the week I figured I was done with sleeping so the stars have finally aligned for me to play "the incest game" and now the brain rot for The Coffin of Andy and Leyley is kinda severe and only getting worse so as a result, just needed to know if you heard about it too lol.

Yeah, we’ve heard about the game! At some point it became impossible to avoid, and while we haven’t played or watched it, the discourse around it is fascinating and very telling. We are just very happy in general that the game exists, and not necessarily because of incest, but because it’s always cool to see games with darker and more problematic themes getting popularity and recognition, especially if this is the game where the main characters are kind of shitty people lol And the artstyle is cute, I agree! It’s such a pity the author got harassed, I hope it didn’t affect them in any way.

Omgomgomg here we go. Strap the fuck in boys, it's worm wife time. I feel like I'm going to have heaps to say about this episode, it's probably one of the best episodes in the entire series so there's a lot to comment on.

Starting with the fact that this epsiode is Jane's statement in the first place. Last episode Jon finally cracks because he's so stressed and confused by Jane's stalking of the Institute, and the very next true statement he finds just happens to be from Jane herself? The Eye absolutely led him to this statement, ensuring that he found it at exactly the right moment for him to be affected the most deeply by it: immediately after letting go of his detached academic persona and admitting to feeling helpless for the first time. He's spent months trying to make himself believe that the worms aren't a supernatural phenomenon, and then here comes this statement to force him to see them as they truly are. Now he'll be even more afraid as the infestation continues to spread.

Oof. If I ever forget why TMA fucked me up so severely, all I have to do is revisit the opening of this statement. Jane Prentiss is the Big Bad of Season 1, and everything we've learned about her so far has painted a picture of something dangerous, monstrous, potentially even inhuman. Then we hear from her directly and she tells us that something is happening to her that she can't control, that she doesn't want to be happening. She's scared and confused and she needs help.

She's the first to really allude to the fact that the monsters in this story are themselves the victims of something much larger and more incomprehensible, and she starts her statement in a way that still makes my skin crawl when I hear it. Fuck me, the writing on this show is so damn good.

Also shout out to the voice acting! Jonny fucking kills it on this one.

There are many allusions to the other Entities in Jane's statement (I think someone even made a post that pulls specific quotes to show that all of Smirke's 14 are represented in this statement) but the really specific stuff like this makes me question how much Jane understands about the Entities. Something that I find really interesting is the question of how much, if anything, the avatars of Powers other than the Eye understand about what's going on in their world. We're spoiled in a way by being introduced to the universe of TMA from the perspective of an fledgling avatar of terrible knowledge. The development of Jon's powers (and his ties to the Eye) grow through his learning horrible things, and his position as Archivist means that the things he learns are all about the other Entities. I imagine most servants of the Ceaseless Watcher go through a similar (if less structured and supervised) version of this same process; for avatars of the Eye, learning what's really going on is an essential part of their service to their patron.

But what about every other kind of power? Surely there must be avatars walking around with no idea that there are 14 distinct Entities with their own stuff going on. How do they learn about the other Powers? Even more basic, how do they learn about their own Power? They experience it, sure, figure out how to feed it or die along the way, sure, but do they ever get told that there are others like them with their own distinct abilities and aesthetics? That there's names for what they worship? A complex system of other fears that it fits into? A ritual they should be working towards?

I imagine most new avatars know none of this going in, and either learn it by being told by someone else, or just figure out the basics as they go and never touch on the rest. Additionally, every Entity interacts with its avatars in its own way, and I think Corruption avatars are particularly prone to understanding things based purely on how it 'feels'. Not instinctive understanding (which would come naturally to say an avatar of the Hunt) but an emotional, empathetic link to their Entity which drives them towards certain courses of action. This makes sense to me because the Corruption is one of the Entities with a strong emotional core. Also, rot and pests don't need to be told how to grow and spread, they just do it.

All of this is to say that I don't think Jane knows what the Entities are. I don't think she knows what the Eye is, or the Corruption, but she feels them and is doing things based purely on how she feels them reacting to her at any given moment. She feels like she is losing herself to something that makes her itch, and she feels like exposing that feeling to outside scrutiny is somehow the opposite to feeding it, so she does that. Or tries to, anyway. But if you asked her to explain what she is doing or why, she wouldn't know. All of this contributes to her generally disorganised thinking and state of confusion.

Here's an example of that great horror writing. I can see why so many people were deeply disturbed by the Corruption storyline in Season 1. Amazing how Jonny can make a primarily visually-based phobia work through an audio medium.

See!! See this shit right here!! She fucking calls it!! A place of books and learning sure, that makes sense for an academic institution, but a place of sight and beholding? She pulled the name of an Entity out of the aether when she realistically would have no way of actually knowing it. It must be the song of the hive changing her, opening up her awareness to the Entities so that she can feel them (at least in their places of power).

More evidence for the 'Corruption allows Jane to feel things she shouldn't be able to' theory. As far as we know, Corruption doesn't have any capacity for prophecy (that's just the Web and the End), but she talks about violence that will be done here. I don't think that's an instance of her literally knowing the future, I think Corruption is telling her that the Eye is an enemy, and the Institute is a perfect site for a ritual. The song of the Hive is telling her to crawl into the dark spaces inside the Institute and and breed and grow there, and the more she listens to that song the more doing so will start to feel right and natural.

There! Is! A! Wasps'! Nest! In! Her! Attic!

Fucking hell. That line still sends a chill through me every time I hear it. A fat sprawling thing that thrums with life and malice!! I love that so much I might put it on my business card. Or my tombstone.

Then a line about the 'fools chasing fractals'. How does Jane know about the Spiral? Has she met someone touched by it? Or is the hive song also singing about the Distortion in between choruses of how great it would be to be eaten by the things that love you?

This is so interesting!! Why didn't the Arthur Nolan notice that the Corruption had moved in to the Desolation's territory? I don't remember his statement too well, so can't recall what he had to say about it when the wasps' nest is discovered. We'll find out later I guess, but I've literally just realised that this is exactly what Jane does to the Institute. Maybe it's a thing that Corruption does, moving into territory occupied by another Entity and growing there in secret. Maybe every time an avatar sets up a new sest of power they have to be constantly vigilant against mould or nests cropping up in the hidden places.

One of the major themes of Jane's statement (and all of TMA) is the question of choice and autonomy. In a way, Jane's entire statment is about her making the choice to serve Corruption, or else realising that she is so deeply marked by Corruption that she has no choice but to serve it (depending on how you interpret free will in terms of avatar's relationships with their patrons). I find that interesting in terms of how Jane is becoming so disorientated she is losing her memories and understanding of who she was before Corruption got it's hooks into her. Like Jon 'choosing' to serve the Eye when not doing so is the equivalent or starving to death, can Jane really choose to serve Corruption when being touched by it involves losing all sense of who you were without it? How can you chose to try and be something you can no longer comprehend? Especially factoring in that she has been ostracized from her friend group, fired from her job and is maybe about to be evicted from her apartment. What is there for Jane to hold on to, other than the song?

Hey Oliver :) Another example of the other Entites being present in Jane's statement, though this time without her showing an awareness of anything unusual. I also thought it was ironic that Oliver spoke about trying and failing to warn people about their upcoming deaths, while Jane is trying and failing to explain the ants. Even the most seemingly straightforward manifestations of the Entities can be incomprehensible to people who haven't been marked by them.

11. Which one would confess their attraction/love first? Why?

Eddie. In my personal headcanon, I think it would be Eddie. Steve might have been more experienced in relationships in the past, but his heart is damaged. His heart has been broken before, and I think he would be careful, especially when it is something new. He's gotten so good at platonic relationships, he has learnt how to be a great friend, and I think that he would have deeply befriended Eddie before he developed feelings towards him, so he wouldn't want to mess up because things are good between them. There's this sad headcanon about Steve, and it is that he might actually agree with the fact that he does not deserve what his heart wants, since he's been denied over and over again, so if he yearns for Eddie's love, and he already has him as a friend, I don't think Steve would risk that friendship over some other doomed desire that is born and meant to die in his silent, patched up heart. He would settle with friendship for ever if that would mean to keep Eddie.

I don't think Eddie is a patient person, and I think he feels too much, if that makes any sense. I see Eddie as a loud, obnoxious person that had to learn to be that way because the world didn't treat him right. I think his personal world is narrow, and he hates when things slips from his control. It makes sense to me that Eddie has been for a long while trying not to let his emotions take control over his actions because that is chaotic. He's not a player, he's a dungeon master for a reason. I see Eddie as a character that needs to know every bit so nothing can surprise him. So, when Eddie catches Steve looking at him a few times, when he begins to understand the throat clearing that Steve does before his mouth turns into a smile and looks away anytime Eddie does something silly, or jokingly flirts with him... Eddie knows. Eddie knows, and he grows confident. He also knows about Steve's self loathing because he actually sees the shapes of Steve's negative spaces. He knows that behind every "nah, you pick what we eat", and "fucking Henderson, man, he's always making me drive him around" (and then proceeds to drive him around), and "Robs, come on, do it! Buy that fancy lipstick! You deserve it! It's okay, we'll go to the movies any other night," what lies is that his the fact that he always puts himself in second place. So, yeah, when Eddie learns about Steve's feelings he already knows that he won't act on them, precisely because he wants to, so Eddie confesses first. Not in any way, no. He would do it using every piece of information that he has to shape that confession into a memory to revisit. Eddie would confess by telling Steve that he's in an unbeatable first spot in his priority list of people, because he deserves to be, and if he doesn't realize that himself and puts himself in the first place, Eddie would do it for him, so he doesn't forget.

So, yeah. Eddie confesses first.

Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux This book was one of the first books that really truly catapulted me back into reading as a young adult (the first being A Winter's Tale) and I remember sitting up and crying at 2am in my bed as I finished this book just sobbing and if i'm honest ? Feeling so ashamed that I take my normal life for granted. I have never had such a reaction to a book before and honestly I don't think I ever will again in such a resounding way. For me this is not a love story its a story about humanity and our relationships with each other.

Phantom by Susan Kay This book comes second because I don't have the same emotional connection as I do to the original but hands down in reading a book cover to cover and returning to reread snippets I have read this book so MANY times my god. I always go back to this book when I'm bored or need to revisit a friend. This book is definitely flawed and its got its issues but its one of my all time favorites and I'm so glad to have like three copies (hardcover, pdf and kindle) so its always on hand. I love the depth and exploration for Erik and what shaped him and his life and the people around him and how they were affected by him. Like wow. Its just a book I will always have on my shelf forever till I die.

The Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Orczy Its just so good and I don't know why more people haven't read it. Its the beginning of the creation of superheroes and double identities and it has a FEMALE LEAD. The entire book is in the POV of the brilliant and beautiful Marguerite and honestly if I had known years back that it was from a female pov I'd have gotten into it much MUCH sooner. Its dynamic, the characters are so good and the villain is so deliciously good at being bad. I loved the movie, but the book just captured my heart because Margot is this wonderfully clever but soft heroine that just speaks to me.

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo WHAT can I even say about this duology other than the characters are flawless and by that i mean they are so flawed and relatable and complex. Its a wonderful book of found family and slow burns and enemies to lovers with fantastic representation. I absolutely couldn't make myself get into S&B but you can pry the crows from my cold dead hands because I adore them and go back to reread this series all the time!

The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova This is also a big reread for me, but mostly I go back and reread sections that interest me most but the entire book is just gold. Its just MINDBLOWING that we never know the main heroine's name which is just shocking, but we never needed it or would've noticed if it wasn't pointed out. Its this complex beautifully woven story with history, globetrotting, mystery, suspense and some thrilling aspects that I just love love about it. This is the book that sent me down the Dark Academia rabbit hole guys.

The Golem & Jinni by Helene Wecker This book honestly is on par with The Historian for me because the pacing is very much the same and it took me a bit to read it as did the The Historian, but man am I glad that I did because its complex, its such a human story told in such a supernatural fun way that's just thrilling in a slow build sort of way that ends beautifully and I can't wait to start on the second book soon! The character development and the world building just really draws you in and makes you forget your current time to be absorbed into theirs and its brilliant.

The Invisible Life of Addie Larue by V.E Schwab I'll be honest and say that this book almost didn't make the list because at first I didn't think the book was as good as the hype, but upon looking back and rereading snippets again and rereading the ending more thoroughly- my god, this book is definitely going to be a CLASSIC. Its beautifully written and one of the books I made myself slow and savor each word and sentence as it wove the magic over the years of addie's life. Its a VERY good book that I'd definitely recommend to anyone and everyone. Addie has grown on me in such a different way and I love love her.

Entwined by Heather Dixon THIS is one of my all time childhood/youth/teen favorites. Yes its YA and yes it might be a little boring to the adult reader, but its one of my absolute favorite retellings of the 12 Dancing Princesses. I still go back and reread it because its that good and has a special place for me. The villain and world building is so good and easy to follow along. Its fantastic and I'd go back and reread this book over and over again. Its great if you love magic, sisters, princesses, unexpected love, dancing and magical objects.

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte This is on the list because I remember loving reading the story in highschool and feeling so connected to Jane and now as an adult I love her even more for her actions and choices. Its one of the first classic books I ever bonded over with my brother on and so that in itself is a miracle. Jane just has a special place in my heart for the romance, the mystery, the dynamics and the characters and their development is just absolutely wonderful with a fantastic ending. Can't really ask for more.

The Book of Esther I have done and read and watched nearly everything I can find on the book of Esther, which is kinda the oddball on this list because its a book in the Bible, but its still a book in my definition. Its just such a beautiful story of overcoming oppression, tragedy, fear, genocide and this beautiful painting of faith in terrifying times. The twists and turns and thrills and complexities that come with this story before and after if you know the history and its setting- Persia (-gestures to Kay's Phantom-) just absolutely has me fascinated. There's also the aspect that just maybe the 1001 Nights are inspired or based off the story of Esther just absolutely delights me with its fantastic similarities because I adore that story just as much as this one. I love Esther's bravery, courage, wisdom and discernment and she's absolutely one of my heroines IRL that I look to.

Honorable mentions:

I, Strahd by P. N. Elrod - The only reason this isn't in the top ten is because it reads sO MUCH like Kay's Phantom that if I had to chose one of these it'd be Phantom, but this book was so good and really helped get me back into reading during one of my many many slumps. It was a great blend of myth, royalty, supernatural and tragedy that I've reread it a few times already recommended it to a LOT of my friends.

Wintersong by S Jae-Jones- The only reason why THIS one didn't make the ten list is simply because I already have ten and because it would be between this and Jane Eyre and lbh Jane Eyre is almost the perfect book. It was a toss up of faerie girls and Miss Eyre won it because she really was my first classical book love.

Wildwood Dancing by Juliet Marillier THIS BOOK omg its another 12 Dancing Princesses retelling and its so beautifully and wonderfully crafted in its world building and the magic and the everything of it. ITS SO GOOD and tbh I'd definitely recommend this book more to the adult reader than I would Entwined, but- BUT it didn't make the list because I would personally pick up Entwined far more often and remember the characters far more than I did in this book. It is a very very good book and I also highly recommend you read it if you like retellings, vampires, fae complexities and a blending of fairytales.

ACOTAR by SJ Maas- I did really enjoy reading this series but it is definitely not one of my top faves because its really only the last two books (not the novella) that I actually devoured. Its a good series and I def recommend reading it because its almost worth the hype but my quibble here is that I could EASILY slip out of that world/the books never absorbed me like others have. Also I didn't care for the main heroine shhh don't come after me guys.

A Voice in the Wind by Francine Rivers So this book was a toss up between it and Esther and it was a TOUGH one because I do go back and reread this trilogy at least 2-3x a year, but I do reread and study and think a lot more about Esther so it lost out in that competition spot. But its an excellent series and the first two books just have my heart for the romance and the intrigue going on during this time period. Its a wonderful slow burn though I'll admit the third book is slightly out of pocket, but still so good that I had to make pinterest boards about this series.

Eye of the Red Tsar by Sam Eastland THIS book is so so SO GOOD if you're into reading about the Romanovs and Russia shortly after that. The entire series is so so good and I normally don't like mystery and thriller plots but this book does have a special place for me, but was beat out by the golemn & the jinni. Pekkala is fascinating and the people and cast he meets along the way just build up in such a delightful way.

The Holy Thief by William Ryan Again this only got beat out by The Historian by a margin because vampires, but The Holy Thief oh my god is very much on par with the Eye of the Red Tsar because its the same time period and magnetic energy. I was so invested in this book and its characterse and it might be due to my love of all things Romanov/Anastasia musical wise, but it was so good and I highly recommend it. I wept, I laughed, I sat on the edge of my seat it was a great read.

The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran This is a recent read and like wow...it just really blew my mind and touched me in a way I don't usually get outside of my belief system and IDK but this book is everything and more than the hype and the only reason its not on the list is because it didn't quite beat out Esther for me but its such a good book.

SPN Season 8 rewatch thoughts

- Currently my least favorite season (post season 5 I think it goes 7, 6, 8) The plot is at least coherent but I hate Benny and Amelia. Both as characters and their use as devices to cause tension between my boys.

- Even though the plot is coherent it’s pointless bc they don’t even complete the trials!!!! Can demons be cured? We still don’t know!

- We also get information about Cas basically being alive forever and continually having his memory wiped and angel mind control that I don’t remember getting revisited?

- Kevin is the bright spot but he is like GOING THROUGH IT and is basically abandoned

- if the fandom didn’t love Cas when I watched I honestly and am unsure how I’d feel about him he is soooo stupid at the end of this season. And mean to Kevin which is not cool!

- Crowley remains the smartest character. Team Crowley. Abbadon is meh. Does she use that “tell me what you see” thing ever again?

- this season is when Sam became my favorite. Dean is so mean to him at the start of the season and is such a little brat about it.

- Garth/Southern Comfort another bright spot but again Dean is such a dick!

-Charlie/LARP and the Real Girl Another bright spot and Dean is not a dick in this ep!

- I forget if Goodbye Stranger is when Meg actually dies but what a lame way for her to go

- I do like the plot line of Cas hiding out in a chain restaurant to escape angels

- I can’t believe Abbadon comes back because the boys WILLINGLY STITCH HER BACK TOGETHER

- oh I do love Crowley talking about Girls! And calling Sam Marnie to his Hannah!

- Still can’t believe Benny had to die, Sam had to almost die, and the gates of hell were almost closed just for these guys to talk about their feelings! Men!

- the shot of the angels getting cast out is great! I do like that plotline

Cherry Blossom Colored Kisses is the side of Hanahaki that works out where Eddie confesses his feelings and it's not too late and YAY! things work out! cool.

I think that a lot of fandom discourse in general could be erased if we just took off the “over complicated every line must have 800 layers” goggles & revisited scenes for what they are. I see a LOT of debates about the line “I love Zuko more than I fear you” from Mai in the “Boiling Rock.” Admittedly, it’s a loaded line considering Azula’s trauma with feeling unloved by her mother & her later declaration post betrayal that “trust is for fools, fear is the only reliable way.”

I think both Mai & Ty Lee are given fanon motives & background surrounding their betrayal that isn’t there in canon. Unfortunately the comics ret conning to say “they were never really friends with Azula” doesn’t help, but as anyone who follows me knows, I don’t consider the comics canon. Looking at the SHOW, I think that both the betrayal itself & Mai’s line shows a pretty straight forward sequence of events & motive.

This post isn’t going to go in depth on why I think that Azula, Mai, & Ty Lee were real friends with a toxic power imbalance making things complicated because I’ve talked about that many times. Let’s talk specifically about that line from Mai. Here’s what happens:

Zuko is in danger, probably about to die. Mai cares about Zuko & acts in an adrenaline fueled moment to save him. Azula is furious. Mai recognizes that she’s committing treason, & says “I love Zuko more than I fear you.” Before establishing motive or meaning, we have to remember - things were happening very fast here. Mai’s line can be read by me as basically saying: “I love Zuko & he was about to die. That takes precedence of my fear of the consequences, which I know could be extreme.”

People debating Mai & Ty Lee’s motives & this line specifically seem to forget that the betrayal happened very fast in a moment of life or death. It doesn’t mean Mai was shivering in fear of Azula throughout the entire show, but she did know the gravity of what she’d just done. She just didn’t think she had a choice because otherwise she would have watched someone she loved die.

Rewrite shower thoughts I gotta jot down before I forget:

I’m really glad I’m rewatching! It’s fun to remember stuff, and I think that I’ve thought of way more interesting things by revisiting the source. Recommend! I think I have to scrap chunks of my script bc I thought of new things, lol. That’s the process tho!

Gaito thoughts:

While I haven’t posted them all here, I have rewatched and taken notes on episodes 1 - 16 of Pitch. Unless I’m forgetting a line here or there. Gaito’s given reason for doing what he is doing is because he thinks the princesses and their pearls are pretty, and he likes pretty things. Like, he caresses the glass encasing Noel and ignores Lucia to her face when he’s got her in his grasp. He has the new shiny thing, but doesn’t have them all, so onto the next! This is a good villain! This is not my favorite type of villain, but still good. He’s downright cruel to the Dark Lovers, who literally live to serve him, and (if I’m remembering right) has no problem destroying the Black Beauty Sister’s sentience, which is effectively a death. Cold and goal oriented. Good, simple, and clear!

BUT. Once Sara enters the picture, Gaito’s villainy gets less direct? If I remember correctly, we don’t get the reveal about Gaito’s ~tragic backstory~ until maybe three episodes before he dies. Additionally, he chooses to die, which is framed in a redemptive light. The turnaround on what the audience is supposed to feel about Gaito is way too quick! (again, if i remember correctly). Before the narrative wants us to feel bad for him, Gaito is just a villain. And that’s fine! There’s nothing wrong with an antagonist just being a bad guy! Not everyone is Zuko.

I actually prefer the idea of a young, lonely, and misguided Gaito committing his sea-crimes out of a more explored backstory. I think it’s more interesting! It also gives Kaito more of an identity when it comes to Panthalasa. What does it mean for Kaito to be a lost prince to a dead kingdom? If I remember, it doesn’t really get touched upon ever? He just shoots light from his forehead when the plot needs it. Obvs, this kind of stuff is why I’m planning the rewrite in the first place! At this point, I’m using the backstory-driven Gaito, but what about Sara?

Sara thoughts:

Sara is an interesting character. She’s a pretty strong foil for parts of Lucia and Hanon as well as being a look at the “what if the good guy went bad?” genre. Her innocent trust was broken as a young teen, and her emotional outburst essentially destroys her home. She probably ended some lives. How does she deal with that? The anime only focuses on her relationship with Taro, so idk! Sara comes to hate humanity, which rubs off on Gaito when she meets and stays with Gaito. He does what he does for her. She seems to be completely smitten with him as well, but she is so focued on her hate that she uses him to enact her revenge. She also chooses to die with Gaito, as a form of atonement.

Sara has been so motivated the whole time that it seems a little out of left field for her to just give up at the end. Here’s an outline of an idea I’m playing with: At the end, Gaito does not die with Panthalassa. Gaito and the others (let’s be real, it’s mostly going to be Coco) try to convince Sara to live peacefully with the rest of them. Sara doesn’t. Sara is still angry. Sara isn’t going to quit. Sara shatters her pearl tear in defiance to the others, Aqua Regina, and her destiny as a mermaid princess. The shattered pearl would replace the search for soul fragments in Pure, and Sara would replace Michal and Mikeru as the main antagonists of Pure. They’d still be there, but maybe Sara would replace Fuku as the mastermind villain!

Quick Michal thoughts:

I don’t remember much about her except that she’s a good foil for Lucia, and also she’s kind of annoying? I’ll get to her character later, but man do I want her to be a good character. As it stands, I think it would be cool for her to be the villain for Aqua, as some kind of mermaid hunter. I’ll get there when I get there.

Handwriting Headcanons

Same dynamic as before, try to guess whose handwriting it is before reading and tell me how many you got right! <3

Quick disclaimer: halfway through making my initial notes, I remembered I had one (1) single lesson of graphology in my applied linguistics class, but that was a year ago and some information might be off. I just thought it was neat to include.

Another quick disclaimer: I don’t know much about Hylian, but I like to think it has a similar stroke system to Japanese, so the pressure and accuracy of your strokes play a major role in your handwriting (among other things, ofc.) so there are some parts where I focus more on that

Sky

Our first boy is mother hen! Believe it or not, he has the prettiest handwriting out of all of them! Sky: probably has nice, even elegant handwriting because Sun forced him to practice when they were little. In the end, that paid off because his handwriting is the prettiest one. There’s no pressure, but he is confident in what he writes that his lines aren’t thin. Mistakes? what is that? this boy has impeccable grammar and spelling. No mechanic errors to be found in his letters! I’d like to think that many of Hyrule’s classic/staple poems were originally written by the firt king aka sky child. Like, imagine, after a retiring from being a Person of Power (as the first ruler), Sky finds comfort in the arts: revisits his old woodcarvings and starts writing poetry about the world he still doesn’t fully understand. wowie. tldr: sky writes poetry and you can pry it from my cold dead hands.

2. Time

I’ll die on the “Time didn’t know how to read and write” hill. His handwriting is simple, not pretty but not messy. It has some grammar and spelling mistakes here and there. Can become unreadable if writing in a hurry, he sorts of forgets spaces between words are a thing/letters have different sizes and lowercase letters end up the same size as capital letters. I’m not saying he sometimes forgets to write articles: he just doesn’t want to. Honestly, he just has this dad-neat handwriting. He is a gentle dad and writes like a dad, if he puts too much pressure onto the paper, his handwriting become too sharp/angle-ish and ends up looking ugly. And as much as he would like to not care about it, in the end he does (:

Malon taught him how to write and it was quite the experience. At first he didn’t want to because he was ‘too old’ to learn and it was torture at first, but now look at him devouring his cowboy novels.

3. my mansss, your  4x1 deal at Target: Four

Look, my boy is patient! He could do some nice and fancy lettering if he wanted to. He was taught that handwriting and spelling said a whole lot about him as a person, you know, like a first impression kinda thing; so he always proof reads more than twice before sending ­a letter. Super rare grammar mistakes.

The faster he writes, the more slant his writing becomes. Under stress/ when not sure how to write things down, run-on sentences are everywhere and his handwriting is inconsistent in general (I don’t headcanon each part of him having completely different handwriting because handwriting becomes muscle memory over time. It’s just slightly different variations of the same, like idk  Vio’s handwriting is neater than Green’s and Red writes hearts instead of any dot/circle and no, I do not take constructive criticism on that, jk i do.) Adding on to each of the colours’ handwriting, I’d think Red and Green write with words slanted to the right( inclined), Vio is a mix of the opposite, so reclined and straight, and my mans blue a true neutral writes straight (kinda like Time’s).

The logic behind this is that inclined writing supposedly means honesty and need for giving (and getting) affection; reclined means, as you can probably imagine,  defensiveness and repression of true feelings, but also shows great concentration; straight handwriting means self-control, observation and reflection as well as distrust and indifference. But as complete being (tm), Four just writes as in the image example which is not too straight and not too inclined, and I believe that’s a good middle for him

HOWEVER, if I’m feeling in the mood for crack, I totally accept this boy to have the ugliest, chicken scratches-looking handwriting! :’D It’s just funny to think that someone like him, who has to be precise and careful in his work, can't write neatly to save his life.

4.- Mister Bunny Boy - Legend

His uncle taught him how to write. I’d call his handwriting pretty and neat at a first glance, but he presses too hard on the paper, most of the time staining the back or the following page. Sometimes will retrace some words if he doesn’t like how it looks (which only makes it messier). According to my notes, a thick or strong handwriting represents determination/commitment.

As I also headcanon him to know many languages, mechanical errors are more present than grammar ones; that is, weird capitalisation of words. Punctuation is somewhere in between; uses too many commas when he should just cut the sentence. he mixes punctuation from two languages or more in writing when too distracted (or too focused, because, well, pressure.); when he writes for himself, he has almost no problem following said language’s punctuation rules. Also, this is just polyglot culture, and I’m projecting a bit, but when he forgets a word in the language he’s writing, he just replaces it with its equivalent in another language because we don’t care about fluency, but rather functionality. in this household (more on that in my language hc, ksksks).

4.-  Mr. Wolfman, howl me a song - Twilight

I don’t have much for him because 1) I don’t think he writes a lot and 2) he is a hands-on/visual learner, I’ll die by that. He only learnt how to write because Ulli insisted it was important and he was not about to disrespect his momma; he IS That Guy, but doesn’t really write enough to have neat handwriting.

Many people seem to overlook the fact that his house is filled with books and write him as completely illiterate (which if not explored properly, ends up feeling a bit disrespectful and full of prejudice, but go off I guess; and that’s on my core Headcanons for Twi); however, he sticks to simple sentences. Knowing how to read and understanding a text is different from knowing how to write them. Like, when we would see a semicolon and understand its position in the text, but didn’t understand the nature of it. Is this clear? idk i’m sorry. So yeah, boy reads a lot, writes very little.

As for his Actual Handwriting, as opposed to Legend, his handwriting is thiccc but not because he presses into the paper; he is just that messy, he has no sense of ink-flow-control, he does what he can with what he has. To the untrained eye, his handwriting illegible letters like v, n, u are very similar; when he makes notes for himself he does it in the form of doodles or small ‘icons’. But! He reads a lot, so he rarely makes spelling mistakes (: he is your go-to guy when you don’t know how to write a word.

3. My first born- Warrior

Okay, first off... I accept this is completely biased. I saw the idea and said “That’s True”. If you haven’t, please read Effective Communication; or The Lack of Thereof by htruona, a fic where the boys reflect on the language barriers between them. It’s incredibly funny and probably what made me start making these silly notes. So, if you’ve read that fic, you know where I’m going.

My man, Warrior, can’t fucking write. I mean, he physically can, but it’s very bad. Here’s the reason for it, tho, and it’s not his fault: Technically, he knew how to write alright but he joined the military and whatever note he had to write had to be concise or in the worst case coded. He mixes capital and lowercase letters. If we consider that he joined the military at around 15, his handwriting and grammar had yet to continue developing. Just think about how after summer break, your handwriting was always slightly worse than before because you didn’t write for an entire month. Now think what 2 years can do to that. Hmm, not cool, dude. He makes quick notes, when writing he’s all gotta go fast. he is the lighting mcqueen of writing; good for emergency messages, not ideal for love letters. His punctuation also suffered a lot, he only know full stops and commas and hardly uses them. A sentence for him is either one word or fifty without a single comma, no inbetween.

7.- Magic man - Hyrule

I’m basic and I do agree with the popular headcanon of he not knowing how to write because well, y’all know his Hyrule. He only knows how to write his name because that’s important, same with numbers. I don’t see why would he write/read except checking the roadsigns. (he can even use this as an excuse for getting lost frequently; he thought it said something different.) But I do think that because his habitual reading consists of roadsigns, his ‘punctuation’ is weird af and places full stops/points/periods at the same level of his words and his commas/question/exclamation marks below them. Yk, creative license. Sadly, I don’t have much about my magic hands man so here’s what his writing would look like if he actually wrote a paragraph:

8.- Man, I don’t understand this boy -  Wild

Cursive? ain’t nobody have the time for that. He woke up and had to save the world in his underwear while not knowing how to read nor write.  He learnt during his journey and was taught by multiple people from different regions, that explains his inconsistent spelling of things and names for them. So Wild knows language variations for many items and uses them interchangeably (even if they aren’t exactly the same). Another headcanon related to writing/language skills that I’ve been thinking about is that if the shrine was able to cause amnesia, I’m sure there were other areas in the brain affected which leads us to language disorders such as agraphia and aphasia. But that’s a story for another day ksksksk

9.- The best of sons - Wind

I don’t have much for him and that makes me sad. Look, he’s a kid, doing kid things like stabbing dudes on the head. This boy was taught cursive by his grandma, but could never do it and no one needs it anyway. His handwriting is good enough for his pirate life, Tetra is the one to handle Official stuff, he just gotta sign. Spelling and grammar mistakes abound. He is still relatively young and can correct his handwriting if he desires. But same as Wild, with how many times he’s been thrown out and hit his head, I’m starting to consider some language disorder for him as well.

This 2017-2021 label kinda looks like a gravestone. That’s kind of fitting and cool and edgy and...

So, yeah - hello! These last two years or so, I’ve been totally engrossed in developing my other game, but how could I just forget the first one? I mean - it’s been 4 years since I’ve launched it and about 2 since last proper update, so a lot of time has passed, but it’s still a little surreal to me, that I’ve even managed to release it in the first place.

This year, I will address the issue of the new update - version 1.5, which I’ve been announcing from... I guess, the last update? For now I can say, that I still work on it(albeit with months-long breaks - the new game takes priority) and have finally agreed with myself on the list of features I will want to include. These are (from least to most important[and also - most time consuming for me]):

That’s basically it. For the last big update - I think it should be fine and when it’s complete - me and you can finally have a final (I wanted to write definitive, but it’s a dirty word these days...) edition of SpaceSave. I’m considering releasing a smaller update, when I’m done with the first four of these bullet-points, but no promises here. Basically - I will try to release that update... someday, since I’m very busy with my very serious, adult life right now and I can only really spare time to work on one project, at a time. That being said - since I’ve already done some changes to the game and planned out all of the stuff I wanted to include - I hope I will be able to release it, in the next two years or so. I will certainly go full speed ahead on SpaceSave, once Sunset Rain is all done and translated.

To not leave you without anything, on this anniversary post - I actually will let you guys take a sneak peak on one of the plans for the update. Literally. It’s a design for a remade optional dungeon. Made in a professional software and compressed/blurred considerably as to not ruin the mystery, but it should be pretty noticeable that the plan is much more complex than any other dungeon in the game:

I hope, as it is optional, that it will be a hard, but a fun challenge for any willing player, as opposed to the slog it is in the game now. The only thing left to do, is to actually implement it into the game, but hey - we have all the time in the world (or at least, before I die)! That being said - I will try to give you a more detailed development post about the new version, soon - at the end of December/start of January, maybe...?

I don’t think I’ll ever get to humorously commentate on KH2 piece-by-piece as I tried to do for the first two games (and god knows if I’ll wrap up Re:chain of Memories with the writing method I was doing, but I digress.) I like talking about this endearingly dumb series and replaying this game is a nice opportunity to revisit how I feel now versus how I felt back when I was a fresh-out-of-high-school Neo playing this game for the first time back in 2005.

So I’m going to surmise my current play session (this collects my thoughts up to the Hercules world) with easily containable bullet points.

*I kind of want to make a separate post about the infamous prologue and discuss how people felt Back in the Days (an understatement, let me tell ya), and ultimately what I feel it does for the game and whether I personally liked it, so I'm going to leave that in the back burner for the time.

I will say Twilight Town sounds like a nice, quiet place to live. I love the concept of a city that's always perpetually sunset. It's a beautiful place and like Traverse Town, sports an amazingly cozy soundtrack.

*I'm sure there's some bullshit reason why, but I don't get why Sora's one year absence meant some of the people he's met just....forgot him. Like why? What purpose does this serve? This especially affected Kairi, but it’s ultimately negligible because she regains her memories of him during the beginning portions of the game.

Was this Namine's doing? Was it to protect Sora from the bad guys or something? Why hasn't Riku forgotten him? Was Namine just selective on who she erased Sora's existence from? Did Kairi forget just because she’s connected to Namine? Or Sora? What purpose does this narrative serve? What was the point?

*Speaking of, I forgot, did they ever explain why Riku disguised himself as Ansem? I don’t remember if they ever explained it when I played through this game, but also I haven’t touched KHII in six thousand years, so I don’t remember a lot of the more convoluted parts of the plot.

*It is comical to see Setzer of Final Fantasy VI fame turn from a risky, gambling sky pirate who doesn’t give a rat’s ass about the empire, only cares for the freedom of the skies, and enduring survival’s guilt over a tragic loss of someone dear to him into a...

Whiffle Bat Champion.

*My sheer excitement and obsession when they first announced Vivi as one of the FF cameo was astronomical. I remember keeping a DeviantArt journal detailing any news and screencaps of the little guy pre-release. Still my favorite character from the whole franchise.

Even if he suffers the same fate as Donald and has a zipper on his mage hat for absolutely no reason other than this game existing during Nomura’s Belt-and-Zippers phase.

*Someone’s going to get sued one day because these damn kids keeps sitting atop the clock tower that has yet to be grafted with bars to prevent their inevitable deaths when one of them slips and falls.

*I swear I could play a six degrees of Kingdom Hearts with all the voice actors in this game. Or at least a "Whozit" and "Whatzit" they've done in other media (like Yuffie who is voiced by Mae "Katara" Whitman here. Pre-Avatar, even.)

Also I’m sorry, Will Friedle, you’re a fine voice actor, but you’re...Terry McGinnis. Batman told me he “totally owned all you lamers.”

*I love the Nobody enemy designs. The sheer creepiness and uncanny valley of them all lends credit to their existence as, well, non-existences. The Dusk enemy design alone is inspired with its unsettling belts wrapped around its fingers, or terrifyingly sharp teeth subtly hidden inside of its mouth. I can imagine the creature unzipping its mouth to reveal a set of flesh-eating teeth and the fear is real.

I love the way it flies and circles around its victim, almost like it’s trying to wrap itself around you, but I’m especially fond of that one attack where it essentially kicks you as while it sashays over to you upside down.

The Samurai Dusk also has my favorite reaction command. It’s just unspeakably badass.

*I never liked Squall in FF8 back then (don't know how I'd feel now if I ever replay FF8) and he was just okay in the first Kingdom Hearts, but I remember I really endeared myself to his reappearance in KHII. Squall in this game is what happens when he grew up, found good friends and family, and got some therapy for his issues. He’s stoic, but always a team player, and supportive of Sora and the people around him. KHII Squall is what FF8 Squall has the potential to be once he reaches adulthood and it’s nice to see that here.

*I really love the little changes the developers inputted for Sora, Kairi, and Riku's models to accommodate for their physical growth. Riku's is the most obvious (boy clearly ate his vegetables), but I like that you can tell Sora grew not just through story observations (Yen Sid points out how he outgrew his old garbs) but by comparing his height in relation to Goofy. Sora was shorter than him in the first game, but has since outgrown him in KH2.

Along with his better skill set during combat, this is a really nice way to visually shown how far Sora has come and how much time has passed.

This also goes in the opposite direction with Namine whom I think had to redo her mod when they remastered Chain of Memories for 3D. I notice she looks younger in that game than in KHII which would make sense at the time since it takes place a full year ago.

...Well, maybe. Can Nobodies age???

*Damn it, game, don’t give me a pouch containing 5,000 munny and treat it as an in-game key item that I can’t use even though munny is literally the currency I use to buy things.

*The retooling and emphasis on battle mechanics means the platforming element of the first really suffers and that’s a damn shame. I wasn’t particularly in love with exploring the Disney Worlds in the first KH, but I appreciate the effort put into so Sora could not easily get from Point A to Point B.

Even finding treasure chests is comical and if not for sake of posterity for anyone going for 100%, I wonder why Jiminy bothers to keep track of how many you find. There were literally like three out in plain view the minute I entered the Mulan world.

*Speaking of level designs, yeesh, the layout is not optimal for the skateboarding minigame.

*Trying to design a gummi ship in this game requires a masters degree in gummiology and metaphysical engineering, as well as the ability to tap into the 4th dimensional. The 45,000 page instructional manual they give you, the odd grid map used to piece together your ship (fair, the latter was also in the first game), and finicky button controller layout means it took me a while to fully grasp what I was suppose to do and I’m still not sure I got a full handle of it just yet.

*I don’t understand why Sora had to use a physical object as a conduit in each world to open up a metaphysical gate to the next world. He never had to use an in-between to close it. What’s the exception outside of unnecessary symbolic tie-in to the individual worlds he’s in?

*Props to the developers for recreating the ballroom. It’s actually kind of majestic to look at the beautiful ceiling and chandelier design from Sora’s perspective.

*There are a couple of random gameplay elements I forgot completely existed and seemingly there for arbitrary purposes. I just find it unusual that Mulan’s world forces you to collect literal manifestation of morale. It’s like the developers decided they wanted to reuse the Struggle minigames’ balls into a repurposed Morale Ball because well shit, someone programmed these things they’re damn well going to put it to good use.

I guess if Sora and pals don’t literally collect morale, all the soldiers will be, I don’t know, sad and die in battle or something.

*I’m aware Disney villains using the Heartless as their personal army is the norm, but it’s tonally weird when it’s Shan-Yu of all characters doing it. The infamous Charge-In-The-Snowy-Mountain scene doesn’t quite have the leg up in terms of threat when his army consist of adorable Heartless bumblebees.

*You know what pointless shit I am obsessed with? The stupid puzzle pieces scattered throughout the game. This is the first time I’m playing the Final Mix game and I’m just seething at the lack of abilities I currently do not have that prevents me from reaching certain pieces.

*Auron was instantaneously my favorite character when I first played FFX twenty years ago, and his return in KH2 sent me in fangirlish squeals. How could I not? Look at this handsome bastard. He’s calm, collected, badass with a cool sword, has rugged good looks (he doesn’t have it here, but he rocks some killer shades), and a good dad. That’s prime DILF quality right there. Of course I can’t get enough of him.

Square Enix knows we can’t get enough of him; dude be all “fuck off hades” and gives the god the middle fingers and fucks off elsewhere. Auron is King Shit.

*Oh man, do I still have my old Sora figurine? I think I got him in Katsucon way back in 2009.

*So who’s done a drinking game every time the game introduces Sora, Donald, and Goofy individually to every character they meet?

*Hey, so I noticed Square Enix is finally moving their asses and bringing the Ultimania books to the US. I doubt they’re going to bring the older KH Ultimanias overseas (my kingdom for an officially translated FFIX one), but ya know. I kinda think that yeah, I might want the KHIII Ultimania.

...Just saying.
