Okay so.. I didn't quite get it yet. What happened to the story of Ultrakill in the 'fallen Gabriel series'? Why's he like that? What's going on??

i really should have a summary for this!! but in general this is a canon-divergent storyline - gabriel dies in a last battle with v1 just before his light burning out is able to take him, but he is reborn as a fallen angel of treachery for his defiance of the council. his tomb is found in judecca, the deepest pit of hell reserved for traitors to their lords and benefactors, which v1 enters in its curiosity and simply due to the fact that little architecture is to be found in this layer. it feels...something, seeing all the stained glass, sculptures, and works dedicated to gabriel's life, and at the end of the long, cold nave, a casket is laid before the altar dressed in funeral rites. as it processes what it sees (in whatever way it can), the resurrected gabriel brutally attacks it - too grieved and too disoriented to think properly, gabriel fully embraces all of his newfound demonic strength to tear v1 apart. his technique is nothing like what is was before, unable to fly, teleport, or call weapons of light, so he just presses v1 with raw power while targeting its weaknesses almost exclusively (namely its wings and blood ports) v1 is ever adaptive though, and of course manages to kick the shit out of him (though it also gets the same treatment, especially as gabriel limits its healing capacities) it makes him come to his senses and, with nowhere else to go, gabriel decides to stay at v1's side and contemplate what he's now to do with all the extra time he's been given.

the au then goes on its own storyline, concerning gabriel's transformation into a complete "demon" and how he handles his prior relationships (namely the ferryman, but also minos and sisyphus), as well as how he and v1 contend with the coming of the three other archangels to reinstate hell's former purpose under the direction of a deeply troubled michael. angelic v1 comes much, much later, when v1's hardware and computer begin to deteriorate to the point that it approaches death - gabriel does all he can to maintain it, but every day v1 fails more and soon....it doesn't wake up. terrified that hell will take it as a puppet, gabriel instead determines to return with its body to heaven and reclaim his lost light as its new life source by tearing his way through the spheres of heaven. overall the au doesn't have the most solid plot, but this covers the major points of it!

-Sentinel won’t stop crushing on you though. He’ll be patient (sometimes)

-at first he don’t gaf. Sure he’d be a lil surprise, but like he don’t care.

Hey! So ive been a long time reader of ur underneath verse (since like.. 2018? Maybe even 2017?) and i just wanted to drop by and tell u how much im enjoying rereading ur writing! Like in general i think this is one of my fav fics series just bc its so extensive and well done and thought out and fleshed out so well it works so well? Like seeing all the different angles and the way u choose to frame things is really fun for me and kinda inspires my own writing in some aspects.

Ive never read the whole thing all in one go before so ive decided to do that right now and im just about done with the pied pipers song - more specifically willys chapter. And i kinda needed to let u know that ur series really stands out to me just bc of how many glimpses into other characters and all these different povs of the same thing like on it stands out on a technical level but then ur actual writing of these things is so good and compelling and like as an outsider pov bitch it hits the spot for me so well? Like ur writing is never stale and its always interesting.

I specifically wanted to take this time to mention that i really love willy and winstons characters and how u went about it. Like im ngl the way u wrote them kinda makes me want to cry tears of happiness for them bc they have found ppl who appreciate them and they have connections with other ppl but then the bittersweet tang of jensen and willy is kinda fucking me up rn /pos djjdjdjd like in general u really do the bittersweet jensen is stuck undercover angle really well and it HURTS so good

But yes i dont really have a good concise message or comment to leave beyond the fact that i keep stopping every few sentences to get up and jump bc im so excited about what im reading i need to get rid of that excess energy lol so sorry if this is all over the place and a really messy message! I just am so grateful and this message made me so happy. never apologize for maybe not having a five point outline lol, this is amazing.

The underneath verse has always been my fandom baby, so praise for it is already amazing, but the pied piper fic and Winston and Willy epsecially, it just makes my heart so full. Ten years ago, they definitely started out as stock characters of mob drivers, because I didn't think this fic would get so big, but then it did, and Willy especially became a real character. a) because I knew he'd fall in love with Jensen too, as anyone does really and b) because I looooove the bittersweet undercover Jensen shtick where I write from other character's POV and the reader knows how wrong they're getting it but they don't *mu har har* (yeah I'm a little mean sometime. sorry?)

but in all seriousness, the Willy chapter, I'ev been working on that for months. And I kept adding things and rewriting things and trying to get it perfect even though I know that most people who read the story mostly care about Jared and Jensen (which is totally fair and understandable), but I care about him and there are a few people out there who do too (and I love you for it, so much), but with Willy, I just wante to do this /right/. I've come to love him so much, and he's come to be so important to Jensen, it felt like he and Winston really deserve their own story told even though that's kind of ridiculous because they're not real, but they're a little real to me now. All this to say, nonnie, this comment and your appreciation of Willy means so fucking much to me. And my poor alpha reader who read like four drafts of this (seriously, M. is a saint) and my beta readers who then had to beta four iterations of this. To know that this effort is appreciated this much honestly make me cry a little (I am not having the greatest time right now, so I cry easily but the point still stands. Thank you.)

Day 23 - Discuss Tosh. Opinions? Favorite moment? Least favorite moment? Any unpopular opinions? Any fun headcanons?

tosh my babygirl my princess light of my life angel darling… shes so good. shes so good 🥺 i love her dearly. she’s so damn underutilized i hate how the show regulates her to a supporting role + only uses her for romantic plots. WACK shes so much more than that. i want a plotline about her cyberterrorism like hello??? i want a plotline about her warped little mind.. i want a plotline about her finally learning spanish ;-; that show did not do her justice and it did not deserve her. i often say torchwood’s characters are too good for the show; tosh is probs the best example of that. no other character gets screwed over as badly as she does by the narrative (not even ianto!) she’s so tragic and lonely i just wanna give her the biggest hug ever. 

fav moment… every time she smiles. (or smirks. hrgh. tosh call me.) also every time she geeks out about smth. im tryna think of a specific moment but idk if i have one?? i just love her overall i smile every time she’s on screen she’s my girlie. when i rewatch i might rmr one though

least favorite moment, the absolute only thing i can think of (hell, my only complaint with her as a character other than i wish she’d get over owen cuz bad taste queen pls u deserve sm better) - it’s always bothered me how she goes over to owen’s flat in aditd and just starts babbling about her own problems. she even says something like “you think everything’s about you”, and in that ep it’s like ??? why are they all acting like he’s unjustified being miserable and angry when he's fucking dead?? like they're all so unsympathetic and mean, even tosh, and out of her it's especially weird?? tbh it just strikes me as ooc (+ kind of misogynistic highkey) writing. i mean, by all means, let tosh bitch, she deserves to blow off some steam + esp deserves to be rude to owen tbh fhsdkjfsd, but the way it’s done in that particular moment feels ooc and, like, how men write women as talking too much and never listening lmao u kno what i mean (owen’s tuned out in the actual episode but you can see her full ramble in the original script, on page 23). tosh has never troubled anyone with her issues before, why would she choose now to, and when she knows owen’s struggling? yeah, on second thought, i don’t hold that against her actually, that’s ooc to me fhdkf. thts just the writer being a wiener.

my only unpopular opinions (slash hot takes) are that 1) towen fucking SUCKS get her away from him, and 2) most people like tosh but she’s highkey underappreciated, esp in fanfic, because of fandom racism + misogyny. she’s not bashed like gwen is but she’s ignored completely which is nearly as bad, and a lot of it’s cuz she happens to be in a show with two white men in a gay relationship who are overwhelmingly prioritized 💀 i will never not be petty about the way that ship dwarfs everything else in comparison. also throwing towen into the background of janto is so gross n cheap. if ppl cared abt her they'd do smth more interesting. and it's never well-done either. ugh.

i have a few hcs that are gonna end up in my owento verse (gwen and tosh are prominent characters in it bc i love them, and their relationships w owen and ianto and each other also have value lawl). tbh a lot of em are just things i think they should introduce into their lives to be happier. i want them happy ;-;

she starts coding video games recreationally!! nothing fancy but she rlly enjoys it + also gets into the swing of making little storylines n getting to express herself that way which is good for her. owen playtests shit for her

her and gwen go on spa dates sometimes. they put it on the torchwood credit card

she gets into fish tanks and fish tank care!!! esp like aquarium plants. shrimp and moss balls, that sort of thing. maybe plecos or loaches. she loves it + it’s grounding, which is good for her bc shes otherwise always got her head in her computers yanno. she’ll sit by her tank while she codes her games and the water sounds are calming. 

she also sits by it while she studies her spanish books which she does finally do. she doesn’t get around to the piano, though; doesn’t prioritize buying a keyboard. maybe one day (this is a nobody dies au btw so she will in fact eventually get around to it ;-;)

oh she’s autistic have i said that. the fish tanks absolutely become a spin. she has a few we know of from canon - math and computers, obviously, but also history (gbg) and the uk’s rivers (from gooseberry; i think it was just the uk maybe it was europe’s rivers. or the world’s! i don’t remember). she also loves trivia like she knows a fair amount about quite a lot of things + loves accumulating random info

lowkey also. giving her a kitty. i think tosh should have a lil fuzzy kitty to keep her company 

well this is smth from my owandy verse but i think it should happen anyway. so it kind of kicks off bc gwen mixes up a blind date (it was gonna be tosh & andy and then owen & a friend of hers, but shes an adhd icon n bungles the invites <3)... tosh ends up with gwen’s friend, who’s straight, but they hit it off and she invites tosh to have drinks or maybe come to a bookclub meet or something with some friends of hers?? point is, tosh makes some casual friends. maybe meets a pretty girl there or smth 👁️ but mainly i want tosh to have girl friends like i think she grew up very lonely i want her to have some normalcy

also sometimes i like tosh x andy maybe they have a little meet cute at a torchwood crime scene or smth fshdkfd. i think they’d be cute and he’d treat her well. she'd babble abt tech stuff and he wouldnt understand a damn word but he'd listen very intently

i also like tosh x ianto for similar reasons. i think it’d be a kind of friends to lovers sitch... they should just be close in general tbh, platonically or not yanno, and in my owandy verse i like the idea of smth kicking off between them i just think theyd be so sweet

she’s a very sleepy drunk and also a lightweight. if the team goes out to drink she’ll get two glasses of smth moderately fruity and then fall asleep against someone’s shoulder it’s very cute (this is just cuz i like the idea of a sleepy tosh 🥺 my baby my baby shes so precious to meee)

and i do it for every fandom. if anyone remembers my old spn comics and AUs, some of those were off the wall cryptic and nonsensical. to the likes of which i havent come close to recreating

many of these get hundreds to thousands of notes/likes/whatever on various websites. so many people just see my nonsense and let me take their hand, no questions asked

& yea i enjoy occasionally making a fully rendered piece but i mean. its not easy, and im never totally happy with the end result most of the time. but if im only posting sketches and doodles and sketchy doodly comics i feel bad like i feel like im just holding people over until the next piece where i actually put in effort.

but it turns out people are totally ok with stuff that i dont kick my own ass trying to polish. people arent settling for it, people voted- they want it.

and i dont know where this attitude against myself came from because i was never unhappy seeing sketches from artists i like

maybe its the part inside of me, which im pretty sure is inside every artist who has ever experienced self doubt, which makes me feel like i should be putting my best effort into everything. like, if i could only just muster up the courage to fully render some of these comics I do, then they would be even better...

but i wouldnt have as much fun. thats too much work, i get overwhelmed

i rlly appreciate ur kind words especially since i try to go for that balancing act between wanting to explore different/“new” themes and plot but also attempting to keep it somewhat “real” . Idk this is the type of stuff that rlly speaks to me so the fact that u mentioned this, it’s very encouraging !

it’s funny, the biggest cause of delay to the AAIT update was the barry bart scene, especially since it was building up to that point. idk if it’s because my flash fam fics reading is limited to bart centric fics or not, but because of bart’s background it’s like there is an overcompensation that sometimes the general dynamics there are just too positive/stable for me, even (if not especially) for a super hero/powered family. I love conflict and tension and all that and i think it’s realistic to have that in a loving family as well. even for generally amazingly good ppl like jay. to be fair those fics r usually feel good/comfort stories so it makes sense, but for characters like bart who i think has some type of edge to him (lol) i just think conflict suits him a lot 😂 because he is someone who seems to be easy to get along with and broadly seems so well integrated!! but he also just can’t be removed from things like his in series origin story and his literal childhood, which i think is just such an incredibly interesting contrast to how he’s settling in in his current time and leads to a lot of cool stories. it’s like so many ppl seem to agree on, it’s rlly easy for his peers/friends/family to forget or not even know about his background, so to them some of his actions/thoughts can randomly appear inexplicable, whereas to the audience, they’d make so much sense. That type of dissonance is just so cool and makes for interesting fic material !

hi!! i just wanted to let you know that i started reading cherry magic in july last year after seeing the anime announced on toyota-sensei's twitter! i couldn't even rlly translate the announcement myself without the help of google translate LMAO but her illustration of them looked so sweet i had to snoop around. more than half a year later. i am no longer normal and my brain is fully rotted over and i think of those two nearly every waking moment!! your art, along with so many others feeds me and your translations are So Appreciated thank you for doing gods work. i usually don't get super involved in fandom or w/e other than consuming fanart or fics so the fact i find myself actually drawing them is so new to me...idk cherry magic really is so refreshing and it's just nice as an adult to see a mature relationship between two working adults. there are callbacks to childhood or childlike behaviors or interests sprinkled throughout the manga's dialogue and i always appreciated how they weren't seen as embarrassing or immature to embrace or learn from as an adult, but encouraged or seen as a valuable part of balancing work, life, and love. idk it's def one of the more subtle and less expanded upon parts of it but i love how adachi's and kurosawa's love of manga, though seen as a children's activity (from how kurosawa thought people saw it) was actually one of their first mutual hobbies. it's also interesting to see how many things about kurosawa's psyche are remnants of ideas probably for a lack of better wording, were taught to him from an early age. his self-image, how he tries to uphold certain societal standards, etc etc. im glad he found refuge in adachi that way. im sorry for rambling for so long but i've just been thinking about these two so much ldks

also w kurosawas whole deal its Definitely a longterm thing hes had for a while, and in canon its mostly been his friendships/relationships that affected him (probs the most clear in ch45 my beloved) but from the way the meeting w his parents went theres for sure a lot of parental/family pressure involved too?? this is going into hc territory but i have like a whole Thing brewing in my head about kurosawas and maris relations w their parents and how that affected their self image and all growing up too and i rlly wanna make stuff for it someday (idk if anyone would be interested but id probably do it regardless so fkdjksjfk)

hello! i hope this isn't weird uhhh... i like your analysis and i had some thoughts... so im a huge fan of kaveh but i don't ship kvhtm (but i respect it); but im really curious what people find in this ship. like i totally get it why ppl ship it: the parallels, the shared past, the roommate trope, etc etc. ofc you don't have to need a reason to ship smth but i like to think about how certain characters end up together and i think it's safe to say that canon-wise kvhtm is in a vague state now. they obvs care for each other, we saw it, but they have an unresolved conflict from the past. reading character stories i realized alhaitham doesn't really hold anything against kaveh, in fact kaveh is the one who can't move on from their akademiya project situation. it's like... one-sided conflict ahaha, alhaitham isn't mad at kaveh but kaveh is mad at alhaitham (or himself; or both). and kaveh is really sensitive to criticism that's why everytime alhaitham says something that's not meant to be even a tease kaveh believes it's an insult or disagreement. (i have LOTS of thoughts about their bickering but i don't want to make this too long). so, (in my opinion) in order for these two to have a honest dialog kaveh needs (therapy, yes, but also) to somehow accept the fact that despite their differences alhaitham doesn't try to change kaveh and they can be at least friends. (i feel like kaveh to alhaitham is like a puzzle that helps his brain to be more open to the things he never thinks of). the question is... how do you think they resolve this situation? what kaveh and alhaitham need to do in canon to become more close like in the akademiya days (or do they even need that). maybe that's just my perspective but i think kaveh needs a lot of work to truly start accepting alhaitham who he is;;; i would be really happy to read your thoughts on this! have a nice day <3

Not weird at all!

I guess first I'll say that I'm not too concerned with whether a relationship could be canon, I'm more interested in how the dynamic is while in the relationship. Which I mean, I do care about canon to an extent of course, but I just more enjoy character relationships (general, not romantic necessarily) and exploring them without getting too bogged down in the details.

But I do love to talk about Kaveh of course, and his dynamic with Alhaitham, in a shippy way or not.

It's interesting, because looking through Alhaitham's character stories again, when it comes to rebutting somebody or making comments, he won't really bother unless it aligns with a personal interest of his or is offensively foolish. But he and Kaveh have gone back and forth in essays (of which Kaveh literally saved clips of them in his sketchbook, showing that Kaveh values them on some level, whether positive or negative), and Alhaitham will consistently challenge Kaveh. It sort of seems like Kaveh is often the escalator of their arguments, but Alhaitham is repeatedly stated to be someone who just won't bother with these things if he's not interested in it. He doesn't even care about negative rumors about himself, unless it'll cause more trouble for him than if he simply corrected them.

Alhaitham also considers Kaveh to be his mirror (huge shippy point, if someone was inclined, we love our parallels and mirrors). So you can really learn a lot about one through the other.

Kaveh notes that Alhaitham can be friendly and likeable towards others if he wants to--but he just doesn't, and I think the ability-but-refusal-to is something that irks Kaveh much more than if Alhaitham just had like no social ability. As someone who cares a lot about other people, the fact that Alhaitham knows that his comments can be painful but specifically just doesn't bother with trying to soften them, is naturally something that will upset Kaveh. That's not even to mention his own experiences.

But the arguing isn't all negative. At the end of the event, in the scene between Alhaitham and Kaveh, Kaveh states that there's nothing that could be more sacred than two scholars of differing philosophies exploring that between each other. When they clash, there's probably satisfaction of butting heads with someone who is incredibly intelligent and insightful, even if you hate their views. I've gotten into some pretty passionate arguments with my friend before, honestly, mostly when our media takes are pretty much opposites. It's pretty fun, though obviously mine and my friend's relationship is a lot more positive and less complicated than Kaveh's and Alhaitham's.

A lot of the issue between them is that Kaveh isn't really ready to face reality, in that he's using his empathy towards others as a bludgeon on himself. During the second round of the championships, he gave all his food to the desert foxes and spent so much time trying to help them that he ended up passing out (which is VERY dangerous!!! He could've died! Heat stroke is no joke, and fainting is one of those immediate signs of "you need to get out of the heat and cool down IMMEDIATELY"). But it was just a temporary issue that they were facing, and would have been solved if he focused instead on his task, but it was his guilt that drove him to try and help them instead at risk of himself. His empathy towards the foxes wasn't so much the issue as the unnecessary amount of risk he put himself through because of his emotional anguish.

But Alhaitham also doesn't help all that much, because he really doesn't bother with softening his commentary, knowing that it'll cause Kaveh to dig in his heels and butt heads with him. Yet the fact that Alhaitham won't coddle him in any way makes him the only person that Kaveh will accept help from.

Also with their project they had a falling out over, Kaveh ripped his copy up out of anger, but later pieced it back together and saved it. This and then saving clips of their essay-fights I think does show how much Kaveh does value Alhaitham's input. It's probably really simple for Alhaitham, but like Kaveh says, for him it's just complicated.

All of this isn't really a response to what you asked for, I was mostly getting some off-the-top-of-the-head thoughts down for what I think of their relationship. But as to what will need to happen for their relationship to improve in canon, I don't think it's necessarily as bad as Kaveh claims it to be. Not all the arguing is fun or productive, but I think if their relationship improves they will still argue about things. Many things. Often. But they won't be fights. They have opposing views on the world, after all, and Kaveh finds egoism to be disgusting, and that won't change, but that on its own isn't friendship-breaking. Kaveh needs to deal with how he copes with his own trauma. It affects every part of his life. He'll work himself to the bone, staying up late nights to please a client, when Alhaitham (I think) notes that Kaveh is renowned and talented enough as an architect to be able to assert his own vision more. Even after reading his mother's journal, where she wants him to rely on companions when he's feeling down, he probably wouldn't have taken Tighnari's dinner invitation if not for the Traveler, because he's still so self-conscious of never wanting to bring others down with his own feeling down, even if it would be beneficial to him (just like during his childhood, he never wanted to be an emotional burden on his mother, and that hurt him).

Like I guess I want to stress that his empathy for others isn't the problem but more like, he takes it and uses it to punish himself more because he thinks he deserves that. Finding better balance in that will probably lessen the more sensitive things that Alhaitham brings up that especially anger Kaveh.

Though I think generally he does actually accept Alhaitham as he is. Alhaitham was always blunt and didn't care about how other people thought of him even in Akademiya days, but the breaking point of their friendship had been working closely together and Alhaitham's blunt comments that just cut straight through to Kaveh's soul were the breaking point (though they argued frequently during the project itself), and Kaveh wasn't ready to accept such things, that his altruism stemmed from his inescapable guilt rather than pure idealistic views. The project probably would have still broken down because of their squabbling, but idk if their friendship would have ended over it. Because Kaveh considered Alhaitham his best friend (as he is called in Kaveh's character story) and those comments did seriously hurt him.

But Kaveh doesn't say that Alhaitham should change completely, but that he should "rein in some of the worst excesses of his personality". That's why I think Kaveh does accept Alhaitham as he is, but even if butting heads with others is inevitable, living in a society and being the social creatures that humans are, having more consideration for others is sort of an important aspect of such interactions. Except Alhaitham actively rejects such rules and norms, unfortunately.

i have a LOT of random gaming headcanons pls (theyre all rly random and cant be backed up AT ALL lmao)

ok so starting off!! i feel like tsukasa wouldve played animal crossing together with saki when they were little and he would grow to love the games a lot <3 he would have a wonderland themed island on acnh and play happy home paradise a lot too!! i feel like he would play story heavy games too, but def avoids horror

he would play any games that are either talked abt by his s/o or recommended to him personally <3 he also likes to play games like stardew, minecraft, animal crossing, etc. with other ppl (even though he constantly dies or gets bullied lmao) ALSO idk why (maybe the fantasy aspect in a lot of them??) but i think he would be love nintendo games!! he would enjoy playing kirby, pokemon, mario (esp party), splatoon, animal crossing, fire emblem, etc. but would 100% avoid smash bc he cant even beat a cpu :') tsukasa also def played nintendogs as a kid and knows the entirety of the kingdom hearts lore!!

as for rui, i think he would play a wide variety of games (like literally anything that peaks his interest)! i think he would play any game his s/o likes bc he rly likes to play with them! <3 he also likes story heavy games bc they sometimes give him inspiration (he also loved laughing at games with bad writing) <3 ruis probably banned from a few minecraft servers after testing bizzare redstone contraptions (that caused the server to suffer a lag spike oops </3) idk why but i also feel like rui would also have a shit ton of mods that makes the game overly complicated lmao

i gave up on organizing my thoughts for the rest of this so heres my v random list on what i think rui would or has played and likes im sorry in advance bc these feel horribly spontaneous skdhkd i think he would be weirdly good at mario kart and splatoon (loves beating tsukasa), likes the persona series, played among us and phasmophobia a few times when they were trending, likes (usually laughing at) horror and psychological thrillers, was an undertale kid, played and likes omori and deltarune, has trolled kids on roblox, downloaded those weird mobile games for laughs, and he likes most building/simulation games (esp if they have a more complex system like minecraft)

Honestly tho, I love these headcanons a lot and some of them made me laugh, especially of how funny it is to imagine Rui terrorizing poor kids online.

I like the idea of Tsukasa having played a bunch of older games with Saki when they were younger. He'd have a blasted with happy home paradise I'm sure. Overall I think he enjoys more relaxed and often story driven games but he'd play just about anything if it were with someone else. Both he and Rui like to find inspiration from fantasy story games.

Rui, oh boy... is absolute troll on multiplayer games just for the fun of it but never in a mean-spirited way. I could see him having fun playing awful games and watching terrible movies/tv shows with his s/o just to they could make fun of it together. I like to think that Rui has played against Nene a lot in the past and she's really good at pretty much any game so it's made him pretty good. I'm sure anything would building or creating he'd love.

I imagine an among us lobby of a bunch of pjsekai characters and it being chaos with Rui being very good at being an imposter and throwing blame and is an excellent liar and so no one ever trusts him no matter what. Would also team up with an imposter while he was a crew mate just to screw everyone up lmao.

hello! i just finished reading your recent meta and wanted to say it was a really good read and very interesting. i wasnt sure if i was going to read it at first because i dont particularly have a strong opinion on the whole discourse thing. i personally love gnc style but i also understand some of the problems people have with making kyle more feminine and stan more masculine. im not like the biggest fan of suuuper masculine jock manly guy stan tbh. i can still enjoy fanworks, im not going to complain lol. but i really appreciated everything you talked about in canon on the show and showing how matt and trey portray him as like.. just some fucking guy sometimes lol. i think it really helped me appreciate that aspect of his character better? as an american football hater i would roll my eyes when ppl pointed out his little bronco interest/merch. and its not like suddenly now i think its cute, bc i always thought stan was cute about it. with everything actually. but like, ugh, idk if im wording this right so excuse me on that!! just love the idea of him supposed to be this ideal kind of idea of masculinity and enjoying what can be seen as like 'typical guy things' or w.e but still wanting to explore femininity and being gnc. the cissy is such an interesting ep for me with stan and its something i often go back to and have since been into hc style as that couple that explore their identity and stuff together. and like basically i guess what im saying is ty for further diminishing the whole goth vs jock line, for me. there is so much to stan and i just... i rly love him. omg im sorry to ramble about stan and being deranged about my own hcs/ideas of him on your kyle meta lol. i am feminine kyle enjoyer as well so i truly enjoyed reading everything. im really glad i decided to read your meta! its just something i didn't expect to like and take away from the whole thing was the differences you put out there with stan and kyle. also something i really appreciated was your tone in your writing? it doesnt come off as passive aggressive or like youre pulling out 'receipts'. youre just sharing some points in canon that help you have fun and see reason for why you like what you like. thank you for sharing with us.

I'm SO glad you got something out of it!! Stan being just some fucking guy is honestly one of the most charming things about him to me; I'm also not a huge fan of American football (or most sports, really) but who are we to stop him from just being That Guy. Stan really is king joth and it makes me SO happy I can blur that line for you a little more; both jock Stan and goth Stan are SUCH good portrayals and they really don't have to be mutually exclusive. id love to tell you why benten is a lil stinky man :3 — there’s honestly so much i could say that would take hours to write down bc he’s so lore intensive :”

but he basically boils down to an anemo sword user who is also an old god originating from ancient inazuma (or whatever inazuma was thousands of years ago). he’s the god of paths and travel, virtually allowing him free reign to wander teyvat as he pleases, accumulating otherwordly levels of information that he alone can process (no gossip can escape him) - his banner epithet would actually be “Sibylline Nomad”.

he was one of the only gods willing to submit to the archon’s rule following the archon war, signing a single contract with them that let him to do what he wished so long as he didnt directly interfere with the path celestia and the archons had set for the future (loopholes included ofc)— his age also makes him good friends with zhongli to the point of referring to the latter as Morax more often than not (he’s still waiting to tell someone about morax’s angry drunk grandma days bc im convinced he had them)

but in the end, benten is kind of like the loki of teyvat - the snakey mischevious type with (very) slightly questionable motives who enjoys playing with the strings behind the scenes. he ranges from withholding vital info to making up stories to screw with future scholars. the world is his playground and he’ll take advantage of it in every way imaginable. (never pair him with yae miko bc the, ah, trouble they enjoy getting up to is a whole volume in on itself)

ahh anon it's fine, i am always v happy and excited to read about other ppl's ocs! ESPECIALLY if they come with a lot of lore dfbnkjkjnb. and i always think that the thought of there being other gods still kicking around, gods of smaller, not exactly less important but certainly less all-pervasive, is a really interesting one to me!

i also love when people have like. thoughts about their banner epithets and their weapons and their voice-lines and level up materials too, i think that's a really fun thing that genshin allows for! his interactions with zhongli sound very fun. especially as zhongli is now on a much more equal footing than before!!
