a/n: this is my first time writing in this format, so pls show this some love if you like it !!
more under the cut!
Tumblr media
⚝onew
quietly attentive. he doesn't often tell you how much he loves you, but you can see it through his actions. NEVER lets you pay for dinner. he's always sneaky about it, but even if you put your card down, he subtly exchanges your card with his so you don't have to pay a single cent. he's always interested in what you're doing! even if you're just reading a book on the couch or doing your makeup, he's watching attentively and asking questions. he loves to listen to you talk about your day. as soon as you come home from work or from a day out with friends or family, he's asking you how your day went, what you did, if you had a good time, etc. he wants the details, too. so don't leave anything out! he just loves spending time with you. you could be doing the most mundane tasks, and he'd be looking at you with the most loving face. seriously, you could just be like, cleaning the fridge and he'd be staring at you like 🥹 overall, jinki is the most attentive and loving boyfriend you could ask for<3
⚝jonghyun
very loud about his love for you! words of affirmation are 100% how he shows his love in your relationship. you could have just woken up, crust in the corners of your eyes, your hair a mess, stinky morning breath, and creases on your face from laying on the pillow, and he'd just be like "you're so pretty :3" like, omfg. he loooves showing you off, but still likes to keep your relationship private. it's very conflicting for him. he loves taking you to dinner with his family! he loves to watch you talk with his mom while making food and drinking wine. i think he'd like to let you lead the way in the relationship, just so he knows that you two are always doing things that you love and are comfortable with. but!! if you don't feel like making the decisions and just want him to take you out and make the decisions, he's more than happy to do so! he just wants you to be happy :))) overall, jjong wants you to feel as happy, loved, and comfortable as possible in the relationship! (literally my dream man 😔✊️)
⚝key
kibum loooves going out and showing you off !! but unlike jonghyun, he doesn't gaf about keeping your relationship private- he wants everyone to know that you're his and he's yours! will spoil you to no end! you two could just be walking down the street, and you'd point out a cute skirt or something in a store window, and he'd immediately walk in to buy it for you. he treats valentines day like the most important day of the year. he'll pull out all the stops- breakfast in bed, gives you little presents throughout that day, takes you out for a FANCY dinner (probably reserved the whole restaurant for a few hours just so you two would be the only ones there), he even picks out your outfit and jewelry for the day so you two can match. speaking of which!! he loooves wearing matching outfits! not in a tacky, literally wearing the exact same clothes kind of way- but a "classy" matching. like, wearing the same color scheme. just something subtle as another way to show the world that you two are together. in conclusion: kibum is quite literally obsessed with you, and he wants EVERYONE to know it.
⚝minho
immediately obsessed with you from the beginning of the relationship! he is the single most husband-material man in the world, idc. will make you breakfast in bed as often as he can! even if you guys don't live together, he'll literally doordash a breakfast burrito or smth to your house just so he's sure you eat something in the morning. probably starts looking for rings just a few months into the relationship- but he won't tell you that bc he doesn't wanna freak you out. he's so sure that you're THE ONE, though. acts of service is 100% his love language. he just likes doing the little things for you! whether it's hanging up your jacket when you come home from work, washing the dishes, or learning how to make your favorite food, he's more than happy to do it! probably learns how to braid your hair! idk, i just feel like that's something he'd do. like, he'd wanna learn how to braid your hair so it's out of your face while you're sleeping</3. he loves talking about your future together! marriage, kids, retirement, all of it! he just loves to imagine your life together<3. minho is the guy that's in it for the long haul- he's the one you know you're gonna grow old with.
⚝taemin
he's a little weird!! but you love him, so it's okay!! just has the oddest little ways to show his love for you. like, i feel like he bites?? not hard, it's really more like, mouthing?? like, you guys will just be sitting on the couch watching tv, and he'll just gently bite your shoulder. and he'll stay there for a while, just like, holding your skin with his teeth. he likes to send you songs that remind him of you, but sometimes they're just so?????? like, he'll send you a song and be like "this came on shuffle and reminded me of you :3" and you're just sitting there confused like, bro this is literally "fireball" by pitbull??? silly stuff aside, i feel like he'd like to let you plan things!! not bc he doesn't want to- he just likes to let you take charge! you two will be deciding on where to go for dinner, and you'll be like "let's go here!" and he'll just be like, "okay :3" no arguing at all, he'll just go along with whatever you say! but he still likes to take care of you! like, he'll do little things like, zipping up your jacket, or holding the car door open for you, or bringing the blankets up to your chin while you're in bed so you don't get cold :((( also, kind of like the random biting thing, i feel like he just likes to hold you. like, you'll be standing at the stove cooking dinner, and he'll come up behind you and hug you TIGHT. like, you can barely breathe, but you know he just loves you so much, so let him squeeze the air out of you <3. taemin is the type of boyfriend that wants to be romantic, but he's just not really sure how! you two have your own way of going about things, and that makes you happy :)
Tumblr media
a/n no.2: i went a little overboard with taemin, but i had a lot to say about that funky guy!! if you liked this, a like and reblog would be highly appreciated!! i love u guys. thanks for reading<333

★ Slow Down.
ㅤㅤ( genre ) — Motorcyclist au, fluff, slight angst! ㅤㅤㅤㅤ( cw ) — vulgar language, characters aged up to 19!
Isagi Yoichi. ( Dedicated to my snookie bora. )
Tumblr media
The wind howled as his engine roared loudly, speeding through the bustling city of Tokyo. Moonlight shined through the large buildings beside him as an air of melancholy surrounded him.
No matter how much he drove, he could never get his mind off it. He swiftly tilted the handlebars of the motorcycle, making a smooth turn. His eyebrows furrowed as his eyes focused on the road.
He leaned down while accelerating, the engine roaring as he sped through the street. The sound of car horns made him smirk.
But that smirk quickly faltered.
His phone vibrated in his pocket, making him huff before he swiftly turned a corner, pressing on the brakes of his motorcycle, and hopping off.
He pulled out his phone, checking the number calling him. His eyebrows furrowed until he saw the familiar contact name.
He picked up, gently pressing the phone to the side of his head, leaning on his motorcycle.
“Hello?” he spoke in a soft tone.
Shuffling was heard from the other line, making him take a deep breath. He knew her antics all too well. It was either a fart joke or screaming into the mic.
“Hey,” she spoke dejectedly.
Well, that was new.
The dejected tone of her voice seemed new, but it wasn’t. He knew she was capable of being sad at times, but he just felt a bit iffy about it.
“No rants about Blondie?” he asked curiously. Blondie was her boyfriend. Oh, how he hated that guy’s guts.
“Blondie and I are done, Yoichi.” Her voice croaked.
Finally.
It was about time they broke up. He was done playing therapist with her—he hated playing therapist when all he heard from her was how her boyfriend treated her like shit.
“Drop me your location, I’m on my way.”
“Thank you, Yoichi.”
The ravenette slightly grinned before putting on his helmet again, riding the motorcycle and starting its engine. He checked the notification on his phone and saw her location.
She was at their usual place.
He revved the engine of his motorcycle, speeding through the streets. The roar of his engine echoed loudly in the background as he drove, swerving through multiple lanes, avoiding the cars.
He stopped by a store, buying those disgusting cheese sticks she loved eating whenever she felt sad, before heading the same route again.
As he reached the location, he saw the familiar brunette looking down, kicking pebbles on the floor while melancholy surrounded her whole figure.
"Cece." The ravenette slowly approached the dejected brown-eyed female.
"Yoi..." The brunette jutted her lip out, looking up at him.
Upon seeing her mesmerizing features, he was captivated by her alluring eyes yet again. The feeling of her eyes on him always made him feel attracted... or pulled in. The feeling he felt for her was ineffable—her beauty was ineffable.
"Hey...what happened?" He walked towards her, right hand inside his pocket while the other was holding the bag of cheese sticks.
"It was meant to end anyway." She sighed, "Our personalities never clicked." Her eyebrows furrowed, feeling a sense of dismay while she spoke.
"Ours do." He mumbled, looking at her lustfully.
The brunette heard it, but due to their friendship—she had to pretend like she heard nothing. Celine Clemonte was a pussy...or not.
"What? Yoichi you gotta speak up." She laughed half-heartedly, avoiding his hypnotic gaze.
His eyes held a magnetic pull that she could never resist—there was just something about him. Something she could never explain.
Maybe it was his aura? Fuck it, he was too good to be true.
"Nothing, wanna go for a ride?" "Is that even a question? Obviously."
He chuckled at her quick response. Isagi loved how her eyes sparkled whenever he mentioned something that sparked her interest. They always somehow clicked.
"Here, let me do it for you." He grinned, seeing her munch on the cheese sticks he got her. He grabbed the spare helmet and gave the brunette a small smile as he slightly lifted the helmet up.
Celine got his signal, dusting her nasty cheese hands before setting her food aside. She chuckled at the blue-eyed male's simple actions, she adored how he always took care of her like no other.
"You know that I'm capable of doing this, right?" "I know you are, I just like doing stuff for you."
That simple response made her flustered. Butterflies swarmed her stomach—or diarrhea. Was it because of the cheese? Isagi Yoichi...He knows what he's doing.
Cunning cunt.
After placing the helmet on her, he placed his helmet on. Shortly after, he rode his motorcycle, Head slowly turning around—checking if she was comfortable behind him.
"Be sure to hold on tight, princess." He smirked, revving the engine.
As she rolled her eyes, she felt the motorcycle move. Making her whole body move forward—hands unconsciously traveling onto his waist. She gripped it like she was about to fall off.
"Oh for fucks sake, Yoichi." She scoffed, "I told you to hold on tight, didn't I?" He replied.
The two lovesick teens sped through the streets. Swerving and speeding like there was no tomorrow. A smile was seen on both their faces, forgetting about all their worries as they made new memories.
Together.
Always together.
"Wait...Slow down." The brunette spoke, tugging his shirt. He was unaware why she wanted him to slow down, but he followed her orders. He slowed down, stopping by a cliff.
Celine slowly hopped off the motorcycle, removing her helmet. The male turned his engine off, removing his helmet as well.
He ruffled his hair, fixing the strands that were scattered all over—making his hair look like a mess. While he was too focused on fixing his hair, the female's chocolate brown eyes were glued to the breathtaking view.
Everything was peaceful from above. Everything was alluring—mesmerizing.
She walked towards the end of the cliff, sitting down on the grassy land. She heard footsteps from behind, making her turn her head.
Isagi sat down beside the female. He was as mesmerized as her. The view was certainly breathtaking—but he knew something else that could be par with this view. Well not really...it was better.
"It's so pretty." She mumbled, her eyes glued to the mesmerizing view of the stars in the night sky. Shining as bright as a diamond. Twinkling as bright as his eyes.
"It really is." He responded, eyes never leaving the other view. A smile grew on his face as he kept on scanning her features. He will never get tired of her face. Or just her in general.
"Yoichi!" Her eyes widened, "A shooting star! Make a wish." She smiled, clasping her hands together—closing her eyes as she made a wish.
He sighed, the smile on his face remained. He copied what she did—clasping both his hands together as he wished for whatever.
After wishing for what he wanted, he slowly opened his eyes.
Only to see her staring at him.
They both looked away—face flushed red.
"Um, what did you wish for...?" Isagi attempted to start a conversation, wanting to avoid the awkwardness that was growing.
"You dumbass! It won't come true if I told you." "If I tell you mine, can you make my wish come true?" "What am I your fairy?!"
He laughed heartily at her stupid responses before responding.
"No, but you can most definitely make it come true." "How?" "Because It's about you."
Silence filled the air. His eyes stared right through hers—a soft smile was evident on his face. He seemed...serious. There was no backing out now, huh?
"Nice joke." "Not joking." "I hear nothing."
The banters never disappeared, she was always like this. Avoiding conversations like this like the plague. It was aggravating.
"Celine." He sternly said, "I'm not joking."
"I hate how I see those stupid boys treat you, I hate how they make you feel all insecure, how they don't see your worth—I can do better."
He stopped, "You know I can."
"Bu—" She was cut off by him, "I know what you're gonna say! You don't want to 'cause we're friends? I would rather risk our friendship than see you all...heartbroken over someone who looks generic."
She laughed at what he said, he never failed to make her smile.
"But I just went through a breakup, Yoichi." She rolled her eyes at the person beside her, the one who waited for an answer.
"Okay and? Let me court you." He shrugged. "You think I can't wait?"
The cold breeze was hitting both of their skin, it was really cold today. Awfully cold, freezing cold.
"Hey, don't you think it's cold today?" "Oh for fucks sake!" "I'm joking!!"
The blue-eyed male rolled his eyes at the female he had always admired. Despite her cheeky persona—his feelings never stopped. It was unwavering, like a birthmark.
It was stuck on him.
"Fine." She finally replied, jutting her lip out—head turning back to face the lovely view of the night sky. Her arms were spread out, letting her body fall down the grassy land.
"Fine?" His eyebrows furrowed.
"Fine! I'll let you court me." "You're fucking joking?" "Do I look like I am?" "You look like a joke, that's why."
She sat up straight, giving him the nastiest look. Arms crossed and all. She looked at him up and down, obviously joking.
"Never mind then." She scoffed. "Oh c'mon, princess! I was joking." He chuckled, his pointer finger made its way to her chin—making her face fully face him.
"You have my everything, you are my everything." His eyes looked at her sternly. It was like his eyes were filled with lust—but more romantic.
"You're so corny." "Love you too."

🖋️ want another blanket?— you know Im picking Billy and fluff of course! 😊
slumber party shenanigans
billy hargrove x gn!reader
a/n: hi!!! i thought of this pretty quickly and figured it could be sweet. i hope you like it!! thanks for sending one in <333
————
🖋️ want another blanket?—i will write you a little ficlet (under 1000 words) for the character of your choice. i would appreciate if you’d specify whether you want comfort/fluff/angst/whatever and i will try and come up with something for you!
“I don’t understand why we can’t go buy ice cream at the store and eat it here. Shit, baby, I’ll take you to that place in town if you want it that bad.”
“Because, Billy. They’re my friends! I’m being supportive of their endeavors.” Billy rolls his eyes at you. “How many times have I come to the pool while you’re working? Or how often do you come to the store and pretend like you’re in dire need of a book?”
“That’s different,” he says.
“No it’s not,” you argue, and then pause, thinking.
“They have strawberry cheesecake,” you add.
Billy stares at you, trying his best not to show any emotion. He disappears for a moment and comes back with shoes on and his keys.
“Let’s go then.”
You knew that would work.
When you get to Starcourt, Billy holds onto your hand for dear life. Not only has he avoided the mall as often as possible, but there are way too many shithead kids running around in here.
You turn a corner, and the crowd thins out, less children and more young adults meandering through the record store or walking towards the Gap. Billy spots the boat booth sticking out of Scoops Ahoy! and sighs.
There’s a long line, and it’s no wonder, because it’s fucking scorching out today. Robin looks up from where she’s been scooping ice cream into a cup and hands it to a sticky-fingered child. She catches your eye and perks up, her bored look turning into a much more pleased one.
Steve is at the register, poorly flirting with some girl you’re pretty sure you went to high school with. She awkwardly takes her change and walks away.
Robin slides over when you and Billy are at the counter. Steve’s rubbing his forehead, ashamed at himself. He’s really losing his charm. She elbows him.
“Ow, Robin! What the hell?”
“We have special guests!” She proclaims, smiling at you and Billy.
Steve finally looks up, focusing on the both of you. “Oh. Hi.”
Billy’s practically hiding behind you, his fingers tucked into the belt loops of your shorts. He really doesn’t like this.
“Hi, Robin. Steven,” you say. You’re the only one he’d let get away with that. Perks of spending time in the Upside Down one might say.
“What can I get the both of you on this fine Tuesday—it is Tuesday isn’t it?”
“Yes, Rob,” Steve reassures her.
“This fine Tuesday afternoon?” She finishes. You order for yourself and Billy does the same. You pretend not to see the glimmer in his eye at the prospect of his favorite ice cream. It’s hard to find these days.
You stand there while Robin takes her sweet time, possibly adding a little more than you asked for, just because she can.
Billy opens his wallet, handing Steve cash. “Harrington,” he says in greeting.
Steve nods, smiling as politely as he can. “Hargrove.” He takes the cash and counts out the change. “Everything going swell?”
Billy chuckles. “Yeah, I guess you could say that.”
Robin hands you both cones, and you give Billy his.
The four of you stand there for a moment. “Well,” you finally say, “I hope work goes okay today. You guys wanna see a movie for something this weekend?”
“Sure!” Robin says. She’d decidedly in charge of her and Steve’s outings.
“I’ll call you,” you tell her. She shoots you a wink and a thumbs up.
You walk away from the counter and turn to Billy. “I assume you don’t want to sit here and eat?”
He kisses your forehead in gratitude. “Please don’t do this to me. I’ll sit anywhere else.”
You laugh, watching him lick the ice cream that’s already begun to drip from the cone and then from his hand.
He raises his eyebrows. “See something you like?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know.” You pat him gently on the ass and move away from Scoops, off to find somewhere else to sit. You hope to revel in the air conditioning for a bit longer.

hello!!! 🍊anon here!!! the shiver fic was so so so good!!! as a chubby person myself it really makes me happy to see/read things like that! and never never apologize about the wait! I don’t mind waiting cause I get to read such amazing stories!! Speaking of, I have another request! If you aren’t overloaded that is!
🎨🔫✨☁️ 👨‍❤️‍💋‍👨
Could I request a fic of Marie x a genderfluid/chubby reader helping them present how they want to present (perhaps they want to appear more femininely, and Marie is more than happy to help with that, but whether reader is masc presenting or fem presenting, that’s okay and up to you)! And some kisses of course! (If it wasn’t obvious by now, kissing is like my favorite love showing activity haha)
Thank you, and of course, have a great day and night!!! Hopefully this wasn’t too confusing either!
Hii again 🍊 anon! Thank you for all your kind words, I truly mean it! And, no, I'm not overloaded or anything! I've been busy but I'm always happy to write! But thank you! (And no thr ask wasn't confusing)
Now onto the thingy

"Marriieee!" You called out from your closet to your idol lover. Marie, who wasn't doing anything important at the time, popped her head around the corner shortly after you called for her. "Yeah?"
"What do dudes usually wear?" You inquired as you held a dull red hoodie in your hands, as if you were about to put it on. Marie leaned on the doorframe after entering the doorway. "Depends. Why do you wanna know?"
You grinned and set the hoodie down. "I feel like being more masculine today." Marie nodded her head, letting out a small hum and crossing her arms. "Well, you're not just gonna do that with a hoodie, are you?" You looked between her and the hoodie. "Anyone can look like anything in a hoodie. Besides, it's basic."
Your eyebrows furrowed when you picked up the hoodie to hang it up again. What else were you gonna wear?
"Tell you what,"---she got closer to you---"how about we go shopping for some clothes down at Arowana Mall? I'm buying." You and your ears perked up. A shopping spree? With just you and your girlfriend?
You couldn't be happier!
You immediately threw the hoodie onto your body and turned to Marie. You didn't even have to speak for her to get how joyful you were.
You put on some overalls and a baseball cap. Marie put on their usual diguise for when they went out in public: green cap, black mask, and a green hoodie. With that, you both set out for Arowana Mall.
This is the part of the story where you both have a montage of shopping for clothes and trying them on in different stores. Marie would help you choose clothes depending on what was "in" and what wasn't. What did suit you and what didn't.
She's kind of a fashion diva.
You bought a bunch of outfits and clothes. However, you favorited one outfit in particular. You got a brown jacket, a red shirt about the same shade as your hoodie, a peach colored bag, and some shades. Combined with your overalls and your cap, you thought you looked pretty good.
After your little montage, you both got something to eat at the food truck outside.
Marie was certainly pleased. "You look stunning, love! I sure do know my way around a closet." You scoffed and gave her a small shove. In response, she wrapped an arm around you and gave you a huge kiss on the cheek.
You responded and turned, so you were now kissing her on mouth. It went on for a minute or two before you both pulled away. Just then, an inkling walked past you and gave you finger guns. "Nice outfit, my guy!"
"My guy".
You felt a warm, fuzzy feeling in your chest as they called you that. A big, goofy smile crept onto your face, and Marie kissed your cheek again. "See? I'm not the only one who thinks so, too."
You looked down at yourself and smiled bigger. You really did look great, didn't you? And you could say it with confidence, too.

⟡ 𝐁𝐅 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐘𝐄𝐀𝐑! ━━ 「 Love Aikawa. 」
Tumblr media
male reader ʚɞ req by anon ( •̀ ᴗ •́ )و
˚୨୧⋆。˚ FOR AS LONG as you could remember you’ve been obsessed with literature. Any horror or fantasy novel immediately caught your attention within the blink of an eye. And Love Aikawa only made your obsession worse, he brought every horror/fantasy novel that came into his view for you. Even though you both have different tastes in literature he still sits with you on the patio of his house to do his daily reading with you.
"Come on Love! They’re having the sale today!" You held your boyfriend’s wrist and began to tug on it so he would walk faster. Today was the only day of the year when your favorite store have their buy one get three free sales and you couldn’t stay off your feet the whole day because of the announcement.
Just the thought of owning so many horror and fantasy novels made your life feel complete. Love chuckled at your excited behavior, he could practically feel your energy radiate off you and onto him. "Calm down, it’s right around the corner." He fixed his glasses and started to walk faster so he could catch up with you. Since he doesn’t like it when you spend your money he was going to be paying for everything you brought today.
Once you both reached the store your eyes immediately traveled to the horror section, after looking at the price you looked for your boyfriend that was walking out of the section. "Love? Where ya' going?!" You deadpanned at your boyfriend who only shrugged his shoulders and walked to the shonen section. "I’ll be in the manga section, come back when you’re ready!" He waved and disappeared from your line of vision. You rolled your eyes and quickly turned your attention back to the books. Your eyes scanned the dark-colored spines and frowned until a certain book caught your eye.
"It by Stephen King?" You examined the thick book and began to scan through the first couple of pages. The book interested you so much till the point of you not even noticing that you’d been standing in the same spot for ten minutes. The way the another narrated the story and described everything threw you in a complete trance. "Did you pick out everything you wanted?" Love peaked over your shoulder to see what you were reading. "No, but I want this most definitely!" You held the book out in front of him and squealed while spinning around like a school girl.
Love scratched his chin at the book cover but held his tongue. "Do–Do you wanna go to the fantasy aisle? I heard they’re handing out free stickers." He tried to hold back his laugh as you nodded your head in agreement. "Yes! You know I love stickers!" You grabbed his hand once more and quickly dragged him over to the section with the biggest grin on your face.
Tumblr media
˚୨୧⋆。˚ "THANK YOU SO much, babe! I can’t wait to read all of these!" You held the bag to your chest and started to dance around your boyfriend who laughed at your actions. As you both made it to his house you immediately took your shoes off and jumped on the sofa, while eagerly patting a spot for your boyfriend to sit down at. "Calm down I’m coming." He took off his glasses and dropped the keys. The same rush of excitement you felt earlier came back to you quickly when you placed the books down in front of you.
"What did you get?" You peeked through his bag to see the multiple mangas. "Mmm, I got one piece, hell's Paradise, and dragon ball!" He showed you the colorful books one by one. You hummed softly and leaned your head on his shoulder with a satisfied smile on your face, not before pecking his lips and thanking him one more time. For the entire day, you spent the rest of your time with your boyfriend by reading and cuddling.

Dead Bird Metro: The Tale of two Girls Chapter 7 Part 1
TW: Minor Character death
Hattie walked through the near empty street that connected the central plaza and the shopping district, she looked at her watch 07:51am, no surprise that she encountered hardly anyone, and the ones she did, gave her a strange look that made her want tell them to peck off, but she didn't care about what they thought anyway.
She hadn't been able to sleep, her thoughts kept circling around the mission and it's severity. She couldn't mess this up. It would all be way easier without the Penguiads around to interfere in their business constantly, yet what if she failed, then all the hard work from everyone toward realizing this plan would be wasted.
As she routed the corner into the next street she noticed someone she knew walking on the other side of the road. It was Bow! Bow always had good advice and she was fun to talk to, maybe talking to her would cheer her up a bit. She sped up a bit and yelled over the traffic to get her attention.
“Hey Bow, wait up!” The girl in the green coat got startled and almost tripped. She spun around to see who had addressed her and found Hattie looking to the right to check that no car would run her over before she crossed the street and caught up to her.
“Hattie?! What are you doing here this early?” Maybe she was on the way to school or something...but there were no schools in the metro, and she wasn't carrying a bag of any kind. It was truly strange, especially because she had never seen her accompanied by anyone. Well, the blue-eyed girl had told her that she'd be fine, so she just ignored the obvious neglect of her guardian, she was out here by herself too after all.
“Oh, I was just taking a stroll, and you?”
“Same. I needed some air, things have been...hectic to say the least.” Hattie's face fell a bit.
“What's wrong, Bow? Has your grandpa still not listened to you?” Bow shook her head.
“No, your advice worked like a charm, Hattie!-”, the purple-wearing child beamed, happy that her advice yielded results.”-I finally figured out what had him so worried...he was simply concerned about the safety of the family.” The smile on Bow's face faltered a little at the question Hattie asked after.
“Why would he be worried about the safety of you and your family?” A very valid question to which she absolutely had to make something up, she didn't want to drag her first real friend into harm's way.
“Uhh, you see...we're kinda not doing so well financially...but we'll soon have paid all the debt back.” Yeah soon they would pay back the losses of life and freedom the less fortunate Penguiads had to endure at the wings of the Leowles. She had no idea yet what “Operation Jailbird” entailed, but she had no doubt that DJ Grooves' plan would succeed, and that the Leowles would crumble after their attack.
Hattie looked a bit sad and worried, but lit up a moment later, “Wanna buy some cookies and chocolate milk for breakfast?!-” She gave her a friendly smile, “-My treat.” Bow wasn't going to refuse such a tempting offer, although she felt a bit bad for abusing Hattie's kindness.
“Cookies and chocolate milk? Count me in!-” She jumped up and down excitedly before giving Hattie a wink, “But next time, I'll treat you to something, I know just the place.” The purple-eyed girl could see that Hattie looked excited at the idea, before her delight stopped rather abruptly.
“Okay, but don't spent all your saved up pocket money just to make it up to me.” If Bow's family really had little money, she'd feel awful. How was Bow going to buy the latest issue of 'Soldier Moon', if she would spend it to return the favor?
“Don't worry, as I said, it isn't that bad.”
Hattie took Bow to her favorite bakery and bought some chocolate chip cookies, after that she bought some chocolate milk from the convenience store nearby. Bow suggested that they could sit in the tiny park just a few blocks over, it wasn't really a park, just a small bench situated in the middle of a green grass field with a total of...three trees around them, the metro really didn't have much greenery to begin with, but it was the perfect place to enjoy a nice and calm breakfast with a friend.
“Those are some of the best cookies I've ever had! Thanks, Hattie!”
“I know right! I always buy some whenever I have some money left over.” Maybe she should ask the yellow bird for more allowance? The thought reminded her about what she actually wanted to talk about with Bow. “Bow can I ask you something?”
“Go ahead I'm all ears.” Bow assured the other girl, who was fumbling with the packaging that the cookies were in previously, Bow could tell that something was weighing heavily on her.
“I...I have a really difficult task to complete and I'm worried that I mess up. If I do, I'll let my family down.” Bow didn't know Hattie for that long now, however, she didn't strike her as unreliable or incompetent. Heck, she was out here all on her own and seemed completely fine, most other kids avoided the whole metro like the plague.
“You got this, Hattie! You simply worry too much. Just do it and don't think about what could go wrong all the time.” Bow had a point she just needed to concentrate on the mission and not think about failure, it only made her fear worse and distracted her.
The blue-eyed girl smiled once again after her eyes lit up with realization. “Yeah, I'm just gonna focus on completing the task. Thanks, Bow!” Bow was caught a bit off guard as Hattie gave her a big hug, which she returned a moment later.
Yes, the Penguiads wouldn't even know what hit them. Just like the cats they were just obstacles that needed to be eliminated, as long as she didn't think of them as living, breathing beings and more like objects it would be fine.
-
A small convoy of cars made its way through the dark, narrow back alleys, careful not to draw too much attention to themselves. Bow sat in her seat, as rigid as a statue, on high alert, ready to carry out the mission with which she was entrusted by the tall penguin.
“So, this should be easy, right, Bow?” Dave's flippers trembled slightly and were clutching the steering wheel so tight they almost left imprints on the leather, which only confirmed that he knew just how important this mission truly was.
She took a deep breath to calm her own nerves down before she replied, she had to be the level-headed one now, the penguins were loyal, but very prone to messing up if they didn't concentrate enough. “Bro listen, I'll handle most of it, just stand near the station so that you can see me through the windshield of the train. Got it?”
“You sure you don't want any help?” He gave her a small glance before fixing his sight back on the bumpy, hardly-maintained back road. She slowly shook her head.
“I'll need you and the others after I'm done in there, we needed to get a hold of the owls before they have a chance to report to the Conductor. That ancient owl...thing may have no style, but he ain't dumb.” He'd know to be prepared and bring reinforcements with him, and that would compromise their plan, they needed him alone.
Dave parked the car a bit further away from the station, three other penguins followed them, one stayed behind in the other car, prepared to pick them up in case something went wrong.
“What time is it?” Bow asked Dave as she carefully approached the station, she rose a hand to stop the advancing penguins behind her, as suspected, there were two owls patrolling the station.
“02:48, we gotta hurry.” Dave whispered. Bow had to lure the Leowle members over to them somehow, they would spot them even in the dark, due to their superior vision.
“Anyone have a coin?” The others searched their pockets upon the odd demand.
“No coin, but a marble.” One of them said and Dave beat her to the question that she wanted to ask.
“Dude, why do you have a freaking marble in your pocket?” The other penguin put his flippers to his hips, a little irritated.
“None of your business...I can collect what I want, it's a free country.” Bow just rolled her eyes and reached for the small turquoise orb, with hesitation and a sincere anguish, the penguin handed it over.
She waited for one of them to turn his head in their direction, before ducking back behind the building and throwing the marble. The owl seemed to have noticed that something landed in the street behind the station and alerted his friend, who also moved away from his post.
“Get ready, they're coming over here.” She readied her dagger, as much as she hated to do it, killing them would make it easier down the line.
The wide eyes full of sheer terror, that broke right as she stabbed the dagger through the owl's stomach, made her skin crawl. She would never get used to this, the lifelessness and the way their dead eyes seemingly stared at her made her almost vomit.
The other owl was swiftly taken out by the other Penguiads. Bow composed herself again, not wanting to dwell on the horror of taking a life any longer, she had to pull herself together and focus on the mission. “Put them into one of the dumpsters in the alley, we'll be long gone before they find them.” She loathed the words that came out of her mouth, she knew it was necessary, she hated the Leowles just as much as the other Penguiads did, but it still disgusted her. They did as she commanded and simply tossed them in the big dumpster like feathery pieces of garbage.
Bow went closer to the station and hid just out of sight behind advertisement standees placed on the platform, as long as she was quick about it, they wouldn't even see her coming. The penguins waited a bit further away, ready to help out after she had broken the front window and opened the doors to let them in. For this operation, Bow decided to bring the heavy iron bat she had found among the stuff in the storage once, thinking that it would come in handy now.
Bow jumped out from her hiding place the moment the train came to a halt, a loud shattering noise could be heard as the metal bat made contact with the big windshield as the purple-eyed girl broke into the enemy vehicle. Before the owl in the front could react she swung her weapon again and either knocked him out or killed him, she wasn't sure and she didn't have time to check, she needed to open the doors first. She panicked a little after seeing the huge array of blinking lights and various switches, but after pressing a few buttons the doors finally opened, and not a moment too soon. The owls in the other wagons acted just as they anticipated and ran to the front to find the cause of the commotion. The two owls that arrived were assaulted by the three penguins that swiftly entered, now that the doors were open. Dave, who was oddly focused today, opened the door to the next wagon and managed to knock the communicator right out of the Leowle's talon, thus preventing the failure of the mission right then and there.
Bow opened the lock on the door and joined the others, who apparently had everything under control, as she found the two owls dead on the floor.
“We rock, dude! Those mite-ridden feather bags don't stand a chance against us!” The two penguins high...oned? each other and looked to her with proud smiles on their beaks.
“Stay focused, this isn't over yet.” They stopped their cheering, a bit perplexed by Bow's unusual seriousness. A moment later Dave returned with the communicator that he had taken from the, now incapacitated, owl.
“So we just gotta put that little chip in that the boss gave you, right?” He asked Bow, who nodded and pulled the tiny chip out of her pocket. The DJ had told her that all she had to do was put it in the slot in the back and it would do the rest, after it was inserted she was to do her best impression of a gang member of the Leowles and get their yellow-feathered leader to the train.
“Dave, you got the jewels, right?” He grabbed a small bag and showed its sparkling contents to the purple-eyed girl, who nodded and told him to place it in the front. It would be more than obvious that it was a set up, but the new police corps would jump at the chance of getting the old owl behind bars, how would not matter to them. They just needed to make sure that old bird would arrive around the same time the police did.
Bow inserted the chip and switched the device on after clearing her throat.
-
“Hattie, Hattie....HATTIIIIEEE!!!”
“I can hear you, you know. You don't have to scream my ears off, gramps.”
“Sorry 'bout that, wasnae sure if it was operatin' properly.” Hattie put the headset up for a moment to stop her ears from ringing, before she got up and got ready for the mission. With a slight jolt, the train stopped at the only station in the entertainment district, from here, she had to walk as stealthily as possible. One wrong move and she would alert the penguins to her presence, and that would probably be the last thing she would do. Hattie could see the glowing lights of the biggest night club a few blocks away.
“Tell me when ye get there, lassie, and...be careful, okay.” She smiled, somewhat happy that he worried about her.
“Roger! Talk to you when we arrive there.” She looked over to Enrique and the other owl that followed them. He had told her his name right after they boarded the train, but she hadn't paid any attention, she had been so focused that when Enrique lightly tapped her shoulder, she had fallen off her seat.
“You ready, Noah?”, the eagle-owl asked his shaking comrade.
“W-We just have to fly to the rooftops and wait for Hattie to get in position, right?” The other owl nodded and looked over to Hattie, who tried to figure out the best way to make it to the side of the building without being seen.
“I wish you luck Hattie, we'll start phase two as soon as I see you arrive.” With that he took to the skies, the other owl followed close behind. Hattie sighed, sometimes it really sucked to not have wings to fly.
The young girl decided to avoid the front of the club and the roads leading to it entirely, and opted to take the long way around, sneaking through side roads. As she got closer, more and more Penguiads were patrolling the area. On time she got particularly close to being caught after two penguins nearly spotted her. She had seen them route the corner while talking to each other, the girl doubted that they wouldn't have noticed her climb up the escape ladder and hide on one of the platforms of the fire escape, had they not been so involved in their conversation.
When she was around four houses away form building, the loud booming of the heavy bass made the ground under her vibrate, not to speak of the loud music. How anyone could have their headquarters in a place this intolerably loud, was beyond her.
She also noticed the cars that were parked all over the road, she had been skeptic when the yellow owl had told them that the noise of the cars would be so loud that they could distract the Penguiads at the entrance, but now all that doubt had disappeared.
“Alright, I'm in position, Enrique and Noah should start the distraction any moment now.” As if on cue she heard the cars in the front and on the other side of the club activate their alarms. She wondered for a moment just how those two could fly with rocks in their pockets.
“Alright, lassie, you gotta make it all the way ta the back of the buildin', then, we start phase three.” That was by far the hardest part, she needed to make it past the huge crowd without drawing the attention of any of the Penguiads. She swallowed the lump in her throat and prepared herself.
Just as planed, the penguins that stood guard near the entrance left to figure out what had triggered the alarms of the nearby vehicles, giving Hattie the opportunity to slip in unnoticed. The moment she entered, she immediately ran to the back of the crowd, staying as far away from the front as possible while she searched for an easy way to make it to the rooms in the back on the other side of the huge room. The blue-eyed girl had noticed that there were a lot of penguins watching the crowd from the edges of the room probably to keep the more rambunctious patrons in check.
She grew a bit anxious as she tried to figure out how to get past them, until she noticed a vent shaft up on the big speaker on the other side of the room, however she had to sneak behind one of the huge music-blasting boxes, and when crawl behind the bar.
When no one was looking, Hattie quickly moved to the speaker closest to the entrance and squeezed behind it. She wondered when the last time was that they cleaned them, there was so much dust and so many cobwebs that she had to pinch her nose to prevent a sneeze. After climbing over and ducking under long, thick cables, she emerged on the other side. She spotted two penguins, who honestly appeared to be so wasted that they were in worse condition when the yellow owl had ever been whenever she found him drunk, so it was easier than she thought it would be to sneak by unnoticed. The last thing she had to do was get up on the huge speaker near the ventilation shaft, it took her a bit of effort but she managed by pressing her arms and legs against the speaker and the wall and slowly pushing herself up that way.
Hattie breathed a small sigh of relief the moment she entered the vent and made her way through the narrow path, all she had to do now was find an opening somewhere further in without to many people and she would be fine. The vent opened in a small storage room, which Hattie chose as the perfect place to plant the bomb.
“Hey, can you hear me gramps? I'm in one of the backrooms now.” She heard a small rustling noise before he answered her.
“Good, get the parts out and assemble the bomb like I showed ye.” She put her small bag down and tried to do it just the way she had practiced.
“Okay...Just wait.....almost got it. There!” She exclaimed a bit louder than she wanted, and as no sounds followed after she listened for footsteps, she quietly let out the breath she had been holding.
“Well done, lassie. Now set the timer to 'round 30 minutes and get the peck outta there.” Hattie placed the bomb high up on a shelf that had a lot of canned food, most of it appeared to be canned tuna. The bomb started beeping and the red digits counted down from 30. She checked her watch it was 03:17am.
When she tried to tell the owl that so far everything was going according to plan, she was confused, the weird rustling from before was even louder now.
“What is that noise, is everything alright?” Hattie cautiously asked and heard a low grumble before his tone shifted.
“Don't ye worry, lass. Just gotta go out fer a moment.” Right before he switched the device off, she could hear him angrily mutter something about stupid peck necks, a train, and Crowwing-Station.

wut's a trend from the 90s/early 2000s u wanna see make a comeback? :0
Tumblr media
THANK YOU FOR ASKING
For those who don’t know Hi I’m Grave and I am obsessed with 90’s-2012 things and have archives and logs of media, specifically web, of things from those eras
1:Radio shack
As someone who is getting into ham radio and also just misses being able to get funky little add ons to computers and shit, I think we should all as a collective demand a radio shack. “Oh bUt yOu hAvE bEst bUy” I will literally slit your throat if you are dumb enough to think that that ugly wanna be ikea shit is anything remotely similar to big daddy Radio Shack
2:Chatrooms
Was I way too young to be on them back when they were popular? Yes. Did that result into trauma? Yes. But I’ve learned my lesson and now I want this shit back so bad. I LOVE chat rooms. “YeAh wE hAvE dIscOrd aNd DMS” ITS NOT THE SAME FUCKING THING AND YOU KNOW IT.
Bring back chatzy, bring back IRC (I’m active on a few), I’m even on Wireclub if anyone wants to join my chat rooms there!!! And pesterchum
3: physical copies of media
I hate streaming services. I hate it. There is nothing but zombie glossy eyed, let’s market to the brain dead, shit on there. Like yes, I love some of the shows, but we have lost so much shit from moving to streaming services. Remember on a VHS or DVD where you could watch behind the scenes, bloopers, play movie/show related games all on a tape/disk???? It’s the same with any physical music media too. I think it makes you more so focused on what entertainment you actually like. Too many people just like things because it’s popular or trending, which is fine, but when it comes down to it do you actively want to OWN something physical from the media? If not then is it something you’re willing to put time into then? Why not do something else?
4:Arcades
I’m not talking about that Dave and buster shit. I’m talking not scam (at least not as bad as it is now) arcades that was on every Main Street, in every mall, like in a mall now of days is a small as shit arcade if it’s NOT Dave and busters. I hate Dave and busters mainly bc they ruined a genre. It was marketed as a arcade for adults but then they added kid I pad games and now it’s just an awkward overpriced place to be where you can see a seven year old play cross road or angry birds on a glorified I pad and also see grown men get shit faced drunk.
5:MAGAZINES
Literally so hard to find good magazines now of days. Especially for a cost that won’t fucking kill you. I managed to get most of mine second hand, but it’s so hard to find anyplace that sells magazines especially ones that are to kids without being too babyish. I go to a grocery store and if I look for a young girls/boys magazine it’s about very YOUNG things to the point I don’t think the market audience can even read??? That or it’s just guns or gardening. Which is cool, but there isn’t anything for teenagers really anymore. Like yes there are, but you have to sign up online for it which is fine, but I miss being excited to go to the corner store to see if there is any latest addition of the magazine I loved there.
6:social interactions
You would jus stay outside or inside right next to your phone/computer waiting for someone to come by and tell you where everyone else is at. Like having to go walk to every gas station and corner store to see if your friends are there and getting excited when they are actually there. I am thankful for being able to easily like meet up with people, but like the feeling you get when you run into people and then go fuck off is so fun
7:The video games
Video game quality has gone down hill. I’m not talking about highly detailed story based games, no. I’m talking about app games, free to play games, all that shit. It is now a click bait, league clone, or clash clone. And it’s BORING. It’s all ad based and trying to suck as much money from you as possible and it’s all so ugly in that ugly 3D art style.
8:intelligence
*insert the tweet about how if you say you like waffles people will just assume it means you hate pancakes* people today do not have common sense anymore.
9: sense of community
#coquette #grassfromthegardencore #corefromcore
Like yes, back then was also elitist, but not as bad and forced as it is now. So many people today are so focused on aesthetic labels instead of just focusing on what they just like. Like yes, labels are comforting, but to the point you’re desperately asking what aesthetic this is so you can then throw out and change your aesthetic to match it and then repeat over and over? Gross.
10: early web memes
Memes arnt long lasting today as it was back then. There aren’t even memes today. Just a tiktok video that was posted on Twitter. I hate it.

camping
Tumblr media
Around the time he enters his hiking phase, Daniel also enters his camping phase. And even though there are plenty of places in the state of Michigan where they could camp and have a great time, that’s where Sadie draws the line.
“We could get eaten by bears,” she says as they walk through the hardware store, looking for a tent.
“We could always get eaten by bears,” Daniel says. “We could always experience anything. You know this. Revelations and all that.”
“Revelations doesn’t say anything about bears.”
“No, but it does say ‘neither the day nor the hour.’ You know this.”
Sadie rolls her eyes and pushes the cart down the aisle. Daniel watches her and laughs in the corner of his mouth. For a woman who doesn’t want to go camping, she sure is good at making compromises.
“You’re right that we never know what’s going to happen and when,” Sadie says. “To a degree. But you have to admit our chances of getting eaten by bears goes up astronomically if we camp in the woods.”
“And that’s why we’re buying a tent just so we can put it up in our backyard?”
“Exactly. I can go camping – just as long as I know there’s a phone and a refrigerator ten feet away.”
Daniel laughs. There’s almost nothing funnier than when Sadie draws a line. She’s usually pretty open to the world – open enough to hike parts of Iron Belle Trail for their second anniversary just two weeks ago – but sometimes, she can spot a bridge too far before anyone else knows there’s a bridge to be built. When Daniel wanted to wallpaper every room in the house they bought earlier this year, Sadie put her foot down and stopped him. Years from now, he’ll thank her, but somehow, he already knows that.
Eventually, they toss a tent into the cart and get it up in their backyard. When they climb inside of it, Sadie turns on the transistor radio. One of the nearby stations is playing “Hollywood Nights.” Daniel smiles a little. Not the most romantic Seger tune, but it feels like it’s divined for them, at the very least.
“You know, the more I think about it, the more this could be a fun thing to do on a weekend,” he says.
Sadie looks at him with smiling brown eyes. She is so beautiful. More beautiful tonight than usual, somehow. Daniel’s heart still skips when he looks at her for a little too long.
“Is that so?” she asks.
Daniel nods.
“Yeah,” he says. “You know … when we have kids, if we ever want to go camping with them, but they don’t wanna get eaten by bears … we could just take them out here. Make some s’mores. Hot dogs, too, if they’re into that. Could be fun.”
Sadie’s smile gets bigger as she wraps him up into a tight, perfect kiss. When their lips part, Daniel thinks he knows something … just not sure of what.
“Daniel?”
“Yeah?”
“About that.”
Daniel furrows his brow for less than a second before he puts it all together. Now, it’s his turn to kiss Sadie like he means it. He will always mean it.
“I’m pregnant, by the way,” Sadie jokes.
Daniel bursts out laughing – some combination of joy and fear, the scariest of all feelings.
“Yeah,” he says. “I know – I know!”
“Oh, good.”
He kisses her again. Even though the radio station is still playing “Hollywood Nights,” he swears he can hear “Still the Same.”
“Now, do you feel sorry for making me hike Iron Belle Trail?”
Daniel laughs again.
“I love you,” he says.
Sadie squeezes his hand, and he feels like he’s made of air.
“I love you, too.”
They rest on their palms and look up at the tent, almost like they can see the whole sky … almost like they can’t wait to share it, too.

a random scene i thought of while i was on a walk (while i was high):
my heart is pounding. so fast. is it even in my chest, or in my right hand, which is anxiously gripping at my left tit, desperately trying to keep the heart in it's place? i am not sure. i see a convenience store a couple blocks from me. i need water. and food. i walk over to the store, gasping for air, my hand still holding down my boob. i look around. i realise how strange i must look. i see everyone staring at me. i drop my hand, in hopes of maybe looking like a normal person going to the shops for a drink. but I can't. because if i stop holding my heart, it's gonna jump out of my chest. so i cross my arms, concealing the fact my trembling fingers are the only thing keeping my heart safe. i want to go in, but someone stops me. oh my fucking god. it's an old friend. i forgot he goes to the skatepark here sometimes. and he's with friends. for fucks sake. i quickly just say what im doing there, in hopes he would do the same and i could go on my way. but no. he notices how hardly i am holding my chest. 'are you... is everything alright?' he says, switching his eyes from my chest to my face, and back again. 'uhm... yeah... just my heart is... pounding... very very... fast' i manage to get out of my lungs without choking. his friends laugh and look at each other. 'ha... can i see?' asks one, and lifts his hand to my boob. in that moment i realise i am not even wearing a bra. i lift my hands above my head, as if im getting arrested. with that motion, my long sleeve drops to my elbow, revealing the acts of last night's depressive episode. they all look at it. with the corners of their mouths slowly dropping, their faces turn from playful smiles to... looking like they're scared, or just sad. small tears form in my eyes. i let out a small breath of air, resembling a small chuckle. 'bet you don't wanna touch my boob now, huh' i say, pull down my sleeves, and go into the store. i start crying, but i wipe the tears as fast as possible, buy what i needed, and head on home.
(its all true except for the whole interaction with the boys)

Script Writing Part 2
On a sunny day, people are walking on the street enjoying the weather.
Xuan (strolling and suddenly sees someone familiar cross the street): Hey Wen!
Wen (turns his head towards Xuan. He recognizes him and comes across the street): Hey! What a coincidence!
Xuan: Didn’t expect to see you here. Haven't seen you in a while! How have you been?
Wen (shakes his head): Nothing much. Just school and work. How about you?
Xuan (shrugs): Pretty much the same. Focusing on school. Nothing special.
Wen (chuckles): Yeah, I know. School is just school.
Xuan: It's so chilly today, although it’s sunny. Wanna find a warmer place to hang out a little bit?
Wen (nods): Yeah sure!
They find a boba shop, buy some drinks and sit down in a corner
Wen: So... how have you been? Was there anything interesting happened recently?
Xuan: Not bad. I just had my second exam this week. It was harder than the first one but I did better.
Wen: Good for you! My exam is next week. Hope it goes well.
Xuan: Good luck! I really missed high school when we had the same class together. It would be much better if we had chosen the same college. We might have the same class again.
Wen: Yeah. I can't imagine how much fun we would've had if we were in the same college. Oh, you remember the advisory teacher we had?
Xuan (blinks): Yea why?
Wen: I saw him at the grocery store one day. He was with a girl.
Xuan (laughing out loud): NO Way! I thought he said he would never look for a relationship.
Wen (laughs): You will never know! He probably changed his mind or maybe that's his relative or something, although that girl didn't look like his relative at all.
Xuan: Or they might be just friends. Did he see you?
Wen: No. I saw him far away. I just recognized him.
Xuan (giggles): It would be hilarious if he saw you.
Wen: He probably won't even remember me.
Xuan: You might be right. Anyway, I just moved into a new apartment. Would you like to come over next week after your exam? We could chill and watch some sports together maybe?
Wen: Sure! I'm not really a sports fan, but I can watch it with you.
Xuan: Perfect! We could also watch something else that you are interested in. Call me when you get there!
Wen: Sounds like a plan!
Xuan and Wen chat for a little bit more and leave the boba shop together

If I were to tell something about me that no one else could see...would it change how you felt about me?
What would you do if out of the blue I whispered into your ear a thing or maybe two that you didn't want to know was true?
It seems to me these days there's this detatched popular craze (since we are all stoned out of our minds on that purple haze) of using the term unconditional love without considering that you have to accept another person for their good AND bad ways.
I have been around the block a time or two..maybe three but that's enough about me hee hee. What I'm trying so desperate-ly to convey is that unconditional means that under no circumstances do you question whether or not to give 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chances. There is no room for regret over dates that were set but had not been met. No sideways glances out of the corner of your eye when you see your guy looking at the ass on the chick that just walked by. Don't even think about walking out the door bags in hand cuz you actually caught him red handed cheating on you with that same whore at the corner store cuz apparently you are somewhat of a bore...no wonder when he's with he always falls asleep and starts to snore. Back to my little liturgy or dare I call it a lecture. There is no room for rebuttals or conjecture. No time to be wasted on tears that were tasted as they rolled down your cheeks once more. No shoulder for you to cry on. No hugs for his intimate romance with drugs that left you out cold and shivering in his car for four hours with wanna be thugs that can't seem to keep their eyes of your jugs.
Unconditional Love is all of the above. Its the good parts of a great love affair but its also telling another soul walking around confused that you'll always be there. Mistakes will be made and beating bleeding heart won't be handled with tender loving care but remember this one little thing if you can. Something that keeps me holding onto an imperfect masterpiece that I call my man...he has always been a part of my life even when I wouldn't hold his hand because I had finally gotten the balls to take a stand and tell him all of the ways he had treated me like dirt and all the stuff he had done to make my heart hurt. I went on and on but not once did I try to make it work. Turns out he had been telling me for months that I was being a big jerk. I wasn't paying attention to all the signs he'd forgot to mention but when I finally opened my eyes and saw what was his intention I felt my heart sink for my husband was planning a surprise birthday party for me and not a who's who in sluts convention. The person I had called a whore was a party planner and my husband had met her at the store to buy what she thought I'd like most from the list he had made of things I'd like and how he'd like to host. Sometimes in life I think we are too quick to jump to conclusions that are based on our fears and misguided illusions. If you have someone special and they are willing to put up with your bullshit and love you dearly even after you fus and cause a huge fight remember how lucky you are that they didn't take flight. They chose to show you unconditional love and that's a blessing only dreams are made of.

You barely looked up when the paper airplane landed swiftly on your desk in front of you. It was only when you caught a glimpse of the red and blue stripe along the side that you spared it a glance. You prodded it with your pen and dragged it across the desk towards you, feeling a pair of eyes watching you eagerly from the back of the class. You unfolded the note carefully until a small sprawl of letters became visible, barely spelling out the word 'purple'.
You bit back a smile at the message and scrunched it up into a tight ball, throwing it in the bin near your desk before going back to writing your notes. You wanted to turn around and meet the eyes you were certain were staring at the back of your head but you knew you couldn't. It had become routine and you swore it was still the hardest part of your day - pretending you didn't notice her.
The bell in the corridor rung loudly and the second it did everyone in the class got up from their seats, ignoring the final reminders from the teacher at the front. Students swarmed into the corridor and amongst the crowd you lost sight of her for a few short moments until the wave of blonde hair appeared ahead of you where she maneuver to the side to be greeted by others in the same blue jacket. You caught her eye for a split second as you went by but it was no more than that. You wished so much that it could have been longer, that you could confidently stroll down those corridors hand in hand with her. A short hug. A brief kiss. A small smile. Anything. You just wished you could have more than fleeting moments with the blonde.
It felt like you could finally breathe properly when you left the suffocating building. The crowd dispersed into smaller groups while you walked out of the school grounds with a slight trot in your step. The further you went the less people you saw until the streets you walked down were near empty. The small corner shop eventually came into sight and you sped up slightly at the sight of your destination, not spying the red car you were always looking out for but knowing she was somewhere close by, she always got there first.
Instead of going into the corner store, you went through the narrow alleyway besides it and around the back of the store. You weren't in a sketchy part of town and even if you were you wouldn't have been afraid of going down the alley, not when you knew who was around the corner waiting for you. You had told her that last time you were there when she had asked you out of sheer curiosity. Apparently she wanted to challenge that truth.
A pair of hands shot out besides your and covered your eyes in an instant, not giving you any chance to stop it. Before you could even give a startled cry, her body pressed firmly against your back and the familiar smell of vanilla surrounded you. Relaxing in her grip, you felt her sway playfully as she leaned forwards to plant soft kisses along your neck. "Guess who?" She mused and you smiled as you tilted your head back for her.
"Hey, Care Bear." Carol groaned against your neck as she pulled her hands away. "I told you not to call me that." She complained, though her smile betrayed her when she spun you around to face her. You instinctively wrapped your arms around her neck as she held your waist softly, kissing you with enough passion to tell you she had been missing you too.
"How'd your test go?" Carol asked between kisses as she guided you backwards to lean against the nearest wall.
"Okay, I passed." You said absentmindedly. "How'd your game go?"
"Okay, I won." She copied and you couldn't help but smile faintly.
"That film you wanted to watch is on tonight, at 11. Wanna go?" The Captain asked as she stopped kissing you to talk properly and kept her hold on you so you stayed close.
"There's show times a lot earlier than 11." You laughed but stilled when Carol scrunched up her nose. "What? You don't want to be seen in public with me?" You teased but there was something very genuine to your question. You felt a familiar pang in your chest when Carol's grip loosened and she looked away.
"Y/n, we've talked about this." Your girlfriend sighed.
"I know, I'm sorry." You muttered as you tried to look as unbothered as possible but knew your face gave away the disappointment you felt so intensely. "You know if I could I would go out at all hours with you, where ever you'd want to go. It's just not that simple." It was hard to truly believe those words when your girlfriend sounded so exasperated, like she was having to explain to a child why they couldn't draw on the walls or have candy for breakfast.
"I know." You said because you really did and you felt guilty for bringing it up.
Carol had told you before you had even started dating her that your relationship would have to be secret. You didn't go to the most gay-friendly school for one thing. There were no openly gay couples there and to be honest you didn't have the nerve to be the first. Carol was content on being popular and you were happy staying under the radar with no intentions to change that. Above all Carol believed it would make securing her scholarship a great deal harder. You were never sure if that was just her fears or if it could really affect it but you respected where she was coming from. That didn't stop it hurting. It didn't stop you envying all the couples that got to openly love their partners. You always reminded yourself that keeping your relationship secret took as much of a toll on Carol as it did on you, she was just far better at hiding it. She was good at hiding a lot.
"Is that a no on the movie?" Carol asked with a strong hint of upset in her voice and unintentionally heart wrenching puppy dog eyes.
"11 right? Sounds like we have a lot of time to kill." You smiled wholly as you glanced at the old blanket fort you had built together months ago, right after you had gotten red and blue slushies that you had spilt on one of the blankets inside and stained purple. That wasn't the only thing that was turned purple that day but was the one that seemed to be permanent.
Carol smiled eagerly and wrapped her arms around you tightly again. "I love you, you know that right?" She asked genuinely and you returned her bright smile.
"Always, and I love you too, Care Bear." Carol rolled her eyes but kissed you softly again, treasuring the feeling of your soft lips against hers and the vague taste of the lunch she had discreetly bought you that day.
*
You swung open your locker door and made to shove as many of your school books inside as you could until you halted at the sight of a small, folded up, piece of paper in the base of your locker. You crammed your books into the tight space and stood as close as you could to it as you unfolded the note, knowing it wasn't for the eyes of the rest of the world. 'East feild field supply shed, lunch' was all it read in the familiarly rushed handwriting. You scrunched the note up and put it in your pocket, locked your locker and made your way down the corridor with a sense of uncertainty in your step. Carol never wanted to meet inside school - it was practically a rule. You would text each other as much as you could and even call if you were lucky, but you were never physically together.
You continued on to the field and walked across as nonchalantly as you could. You only vaguely knew where that specific supply shed was because it was rarely ever used and not to mention half submerged in the woodland bordering part of the field. You glanced around as you neared it and when you were sure no one was near by you dipped behind the back to an awaiting Carol, sat cross legged on the floor and trying to balance a spoon on her nose.
"Hey, are you alright?" You asked hastily as you put your bag down on the floor and stared at your girlfriend in concern.
"Of course I am, you're here." She said simply and held both her hands out to you. You took them with a confused smile as Carol guided you to sit on her lap and cupped your cheek with her hand.
"Are you sure? We don't usually- we never-" Carol pecked your lips to successfully silence you.
"I know, but I missed you too much." She said with a contagious smile. "Really. I just wanted to see you." Your smile grew as you nodded and lent forward slightly to kiss the blonde back.
"I missed you too."
You stayed like that for the rest of your lunch break, enjoying each other's company and embrace as you ignored the rest of the world that wasn't shielded by the old wood around you. It was pretty much perfect. You knew it couldn't become habit so you tried your hardest to just focus on the there and then. Carol seemed to be thinking the same thing, letting her guard down more than she ever had when you had to part days.
The Captain chuckled as she kissed you after backing you into the shed door. You pushed her back lightly with a giggle, feeling giddy from everything happening. "We gotta go." You laughed more when Carol trapped you against the shed, clearly not having any desire to attend her next lesson. "Carol." You scorned, making her pull away only to gaze at you adoringly.
"Okay." She huffed and stepped back to give you space to move. The moment you did she laced your fingers together and held up your hand to her lips, giving the back of it a soft kiss before letting you go. You grinned back at her as you started in opposite directions, your hand still tingling from your girlfriend's soft imprint.
You were both so blissfully unaware of your surroundings you forgot to make a quick check of anyone near by. Neither of you were aware of the eager eyes following both your steps, nor the digital lens that followed with them. However that was something that became very much apparent the next day. The eyes that landed on you as you ventured down the school corridors weren't subtle. They weren't kind either.
You felt like there was a spot light on you everywhere you went and it went on for a while. Some people would look away once you glanced anxiously in their direction while others stared back with a distasteful and all together brutal glare. It was clear that everyone knew something you didn't, something that soon brought your mind to Carol. Where was she?
That was a question you had to wait a while to be answered. Your girlfriend wasn't in any of the few classes you had together, something that wasn't completely unheard of for her but was especially anxiety inducing on that day. It was during lunch break that you finally saw her. You were thrilled and filled with relief when you saw the blonde hair and blue jacketed figure making its way towards you where you sat under a tree on the far edge of the field. However as she got closer and you were able to distinguish the infuriated look upon her face, all the relief drained away. You had seen her angry before. She had been known to have a short fuse and with a team that wasn't the brightest and some games not going the way she would have wanted, you knew what angry Carol entailed. But what you saw that day was something new.
"What the fuck?!" She yelled and you stumbled back a couple of steps in shock.
"W-what?" You fumbled when you realized Carol's new found fury was directed at you.
"What did you do?" She demanded as she advanced to being a short step away from you. Suddenly, having Carol so close didn't hold the comfort it usually did.
"I don't know. I don't know what's going on! Everything was fine until..." you trailed off when the Captain turned her attention to her phone. You glanced between her and the screen, not understanding why she suddenly didn't want to pay you any attention. However, when she showed you her screen your heart dropped. Any other couple wouldn't have minded the picture. They may even have loved it. You and Carol couldn't take a moment to admire the moment that was captured, because you both knew what it meant. You were so close together in the photo, arms tightly around each other as you shared a kiss. You were unbreakable. Were...
"Who... how did they..." You barely managed to speak, feeling far too numb.
"You tell me, y/n." Carol crossed her arms defensively and continued to glare right into your eyes. You thought that hurt more than anything else that had happened that day and honestly ever.
"I didn't do this." You whispered, too shocked to fully comprehend what your girlfriend was accusing you of.
"You wanna rethink that answer? Because this secret has always bothered you a lot more than it has for me." What? You felt sick at hearing her words. You had spent the whole relationship thinking, fooling yourself into believing that it was both sided. How much did she care?
"There was a time you wouldn't fucking shut up about it for two seconds and no matter how many times I explained to you why we couldn't go running around holding hands like goddamn kinder-gardeners you still couldn't get it through your skull that is was the smart decision. Do you not like what's happening today, y/n? Does it upset you?" She gritted in a sickeningly mocking tone that you had never heard before. It was just plain cruel. "Well buckle the fuck up because it's going to get a hell of a lot worse, especially for me. You'll be happy though, won't you? This is what you wanted." Carol finished, chest heaving and eyes ablaze. That was all you could really make it through your teary eyes.
"No this isn't what I wanted." You started to sob as you reached out for Carol's hand but she smacked it away hard. You recoiled in alarm and tried again. "Please Carol, I would never do this. I just wanted what you did." Carol scoffed at your pathetic attempt at explaining yourself, far from believing you in your hysteric state.
"Fuck off." She spat as she gave you one final glare and turned sharply on her heels to leave you were stood. Alone.
"Carol, please!" You begged but the blonde had had enough.
"Stay away from me." She shouted back and you stopped in your tracks, only able to watch her leave.
"No." You whimpered in defeat and dropped to your knees, breaking down in tears as you felt like your world was crumbling around you and there was nothing you could do to fix it. There wasn't even anyone who could help you through it anymore.
*
Carol was right. Things did get a lot worse after that, in a lot of different ways. Your heartbreak was the worse thing. You spent every moment you weren't in school curled up in bed, soaking your sheets and pillows with tears, scolding yourself for everything that had gone wrong. You knew, deep down, that it wasn't you fault, that it was Carol who was entirely in the wrong but you found it impossible to hate her. It would have been so much easier if you had been able to. It might have hurt less.
School was a much worse place to be. You saw Carol every day but a word was never passed between you. Anytime you caught her eye she looked away quicker than you could read her so it was hard to tell if she still hated you. All you knew was you weren't her favourite person. That was one thing, but the bullying was something else. It was relentless, ranging from everything between graffitied slurs on your locker to being shoved into them. Your grades dropped and your mental health declined with it.
"Move, fag." You gave a low 'oof' as you were tripped into the railings along the stairs. You held your stomach and winced at the instant throbbing pain there. You avoided the eyes you knew were on you but when you risked a glance up you saw the blonde you weren't sure if you were avoiding or not. You held her gaze longer than you had since she had broken your heart, your breath catching in your throat when you saw the undeniable pity written across her face. In that moment you found yourself wanting to go up to her. What you would do or say you weren't sure of, maybe it would have come to you got there.
You took a bold step forwards until you were cut off by a junior who gave you the first friendly smile you had seen in a while. You didn't trust it at all, like it was a mask worn by the devil himself to trick you. "Hey." He greeted. You opened your mouth to speak but you had no clue of what to say. "I just wanted to say I thinks it's pretty cool what you did." He said simply.
"What I did?" You asked slowly and he nodded back with the same smile.
"The picture." He clarified. You clenched your jaw and peered over at the blonde who was still watching you cautiously. "I know it wasn't you choice to have it taken or anything." He rushed when he noticed your defensive stance. "And I can't imagine what you're going through right now." He added with a sympathetic look. "But seeing you guys together in a town that isn't exactly the best place for it has given a lot of us a some hope. Most of the world is becoming more acceptant, it's only a matter of time before things change here too, even if you're not here when it does." He shrugged before getting distracted by someone in the corridor. "Plus you guys are a cute couple." Ouch. He smiled at you and waved at his friend as he made to leave.
"I gotta go but I hope I see you around." You nodded slightly as you pondered his words. You glanced at Carol and was surprised to still see her standing by her locker, it felt like some strange stand off and you wondered if she had heard what the junior had said to you. She wasn't that far away by the corridor was beginning to get crowded and loud.
You made to walk towards Carol but the second you did she took off like a startled deer. You sighed as you watched her go. Maybe it was for the best that you stay out of each other's way after all. Despite whatever the hell had just happened, the blonde's last words to you played as clear as ever in your head. They still made your heart ache as much as it did the first time around.
Things didn't change between you and Carol after that. It was hard, near impossible on some days, but you started to try and get over her. You didn't want to forget and you certainly didn't want to regret it because until the end, your relationship with Carol was the best thing that ever happened to you. Knowing that made it so much harder to move on. Not to mention a large part of you didn't even want to. You loved Carol. Making yourself fall out of love with her was just as difficult as when you had tried to stop yourself falling in love her nearly a year prior.
Given the absence of progress between you and the Captain, you honestly thought you were hallucinating when she called your name one day after school. You spun around in every direction to find her, something that wasn't that hard when she came jogging towards you. "Can we go somewhere more private?" She asked as she glanced at the onlookers. You nodded quickly, your mouth and throat feeling far too dry for you to even attempt to speak.
You walked in an extremely awkward silence towards the field. You were waiting for Carol to speak first and you were hoping she wasn't thinking that you would do the same thing given she had approached you. Unless she had done it on a whim, you really hoped not. It was only when you were alone that she piped up.
"I'm sorry." She blurted out. You glanced at her in surprise, an apology was the last thing you were expecting. "I'm so so sorry. I was so stupid- beyond stupid. What I did was something I promised I never would and I hate myself every moment for it." You stared at the blonde blankly as she continued to ramble away. You had never seen her so frantic and you were so taken off guard by it you didn't have a chance to notice the irony of what was happening and how drastically the roles had been reversed.
"I was just so scared and that's not an excuse I'm just trying to explain." She paused to peer at you properly, waiting to see if you really understood that. You gave her another weak nod. "I didn't know what to do. It felt like I couldn't trust anyone and I got defensive to try and protect myself. I didn't mean any of it. Anything. Especially about not finding the secret hard." That was something you had been longing to hear but once you did you couldn't bring it in yourself to believe her. "There were days I had to stop myself screaming in the corridors or in the cafeteria that I was in love with you. It was even harder not being able to hug or kiss you whenever I wanted to." You listened on intently.
"I just wanted what was best for you and I didn't know what that was." She admitted. You had the sudden strong urge to reach out and hug Carol, but you also wanted to walk away. You didn't get much chance to consider your options because a group of Carol's old friends came sauntering around the corner, eyes lighting up at the sight of you and the Captain.
"Don't stop on our account." One of them snickered.
"If you're gonna dyke out you might as well make a show out of it." Another added. Your skin crawled in discomfort and Carol noticed instantly.
"Fuck off." She spat but the group ignored her.
"You know you probably just haven't had the right dick." The first one said as he eyed you up and down. You backed up and found yourself moving closer to Carol. "I'm sure I could make you straight again." He mused sickeningly and made to grab your wrist but the blonde stepped in front of you.
"I said fuck off. No one wants your two inches, Walker." She challenged and got an instant reaction. He went to swing at Carol but she swiftly kneed him in the groin before he got the chance, barely able to stop herself smirking when he doubled over with a groan. The blonde turned to you and jumped forwards when she saw one of the other boys go to grab you.
"You get the fuck away from her." Acting on pure instinct and adrenaline, Carol swung her fist forwards and caught the jock in the jaw with a crunch. The other boys looked between the two injured and Carol, quickly making their call in grabbing their friends to leave.
Carol turned to you swiftly with worry and concern on every inch of her face. "Are you alright?" She asked as her eyes scanned you for any signs of injury. You gave a shaky yes, avoiding Carol's gaze. "Fuck, this is the kind of thing I was always afraid of, above everything else." She said as she ran a hand through her hair. You caught sight of her red fist and without any thought, took ahold of her hand gently. You ran your fingers over the redness softly, not realizing you were crying until a tear dropped down onto Carol's hand. At the sight of it you broke down crying more.
"Oh ba- y/n." The blonde sighed, heart breaking in smaller pieces at the sight of you. It hurt even more to see when she wasn't sure if she could hug you or not. Luckily for her she didn't have to feel useless for long because you reached out for her and clung onto her jacket as you buried your face into her chest, crying harder. "I've got you. It's okay, they're gone." She cooed. "I'll never let anyone hurt you again." You knew she was thinking of herself more than the boys when she said that.
You stood like that for a while, crying against Carol as she rubbed your back and continued to whisper reassurances to you. "Promise." You hiccuped between sniffles.
"I promise." She said instantly. You slowly pulled away to read Carol properly, watching closely for any tell of a lie and finding none. "Could you give me another chance?" The blonde asked, barely above a whisper as she feared your response. She would respect it entirely if you said no, but she really hoped you wouldn't. "There won't be anymore secrets and I'll never be a dick to you ever again."
"I'm scared." You admitted and Carol nodded tightly as she fought back tears herself.
"Me too." She admitted. "We don't have to stay here." You lifted your head up to look at Carol clearly and she continued. "We could leave, go where ever we want. There's only a couple months left of this shithole."
"A couple months." You repeated. Carol nodded encouragingly, desperate to find a bright side and winning point.
"Could you do a couple more months here?" She asked carefully and you nodded after a few seconds.
"Lets do it." You said with a sharp intake of breath.
"Fuck, really?" She laughed lightly and you found yourself doing the same.
"Yeah." You smiled. "I can't stop loving you and I don't want to." Tears started to fall down Carol's cheeks. You cupped her face gently and wiped the tears away with your thumbs. The blonde's own hands held yours as she smiled down at you.
"I love you too." With a sudden, unexpected, burst of confidence, you leaned forwards and kissed Carol longingly. She deepened the kiss instantly and wrapped her arms around your waist to keep you as close as possible, like she never wanted to let you go again.
"Everything's gonna work out." She whispered once she pulled away to rest your foreheads together.
"Of course it is." You smiled softly. "You'll be with me."

however, he does mind if they insult you or talk down on you/your talents in the slightest
“honestly, y/n’s quirk skills are kinda trash compared to todoroki’s. wouldn’t he wanna date someone who’s up to his standard?”
he would silently fume as he heard some irrelevant ass girls speaking about you like that, and he just had to say something.
“if i did date up to my standard, you and all of your friends would be at the very bottom of my list.”
they’d be gaping at him like a fish while he smoothly walks away from them 😭
praises you a lot, and enjoys it when you praise him as well
“oh hell yeah, todoroki! you kicked that villain’s ass!” you’d high five your boyfriend on the way back to UA, after you and dekusquad just beat the absolute fuck out of some scummy villains

“yeah… yeah i did.”

crane game
ft.: oikawa x reader
a/n: oikawa tries to win a plushie for you, but his crane game abilities aren’t as a good as his volleyball skills.
word count: ~1k
Tumblr media
You and Oikawa originally had plans to have an outdoorsy type of date once volleyball practice was over, but the weather is cooler than you had anticipated, so you both decide to hang out at the mall for a bit.
After walking around for a bit and grabbing something to eat at the food court, you notice a sign promoting a new arcade nearby.
“Oh yeah, Matsu was telling me about it the other day!” Oikawa remarks. “I totally forgot about it.”
“Do you wanna check it out?” you suggest. You weren’t really in the mood to do much more shopping, yet you still wanted to hang out with Seijoh’s captain for a little while longer before heading home.
“Sure, it might be fun!” Oikawa agrees.
And that is how your trip to the mall became a spontaneous excursion to an arcade. The arcade isn’t too far away and the moment you step in, you are hit by the sound of pounding music. Various sounds and vibrant lights emanate from multiple machines, giving the large space a playful and fun atmosphere. Fortunately, there aren’t many other people around, so you and Oikawa can essentially choose any machine you want.
Your boyfriend kindly offers to turn a couple of his own bills into coins and the two of you begin walking up and down the numerous aisles, trying to decide on a game to play first. Suddenly, something out of the corner catches your eye and you cannot help, but react excitedly.
“Aww, Tooru!” you animatedly cry out, tugging his arm to get his attention and pointing at the crane game you just walked past. “Look how cute that plushie is!”
Inside the claw machine sits a fairly large Shiba Inu plush with an adorable handkerchief wrapped around its neck. It appears very soft and squishy, which makes you think it would make an excellent pillow/cushion.
Oikawa isn’t particularly fond of crane games, but when he sees how your eyes light up at seeing the plush puppy, he knows he has to win it for you. So, without saying a word, he heads over to the machine and starts adding the coins in.
“I’ll get it for you within a few tries,” he promises with a cocky grin as the claw begins to move and he glues his eyes to the prize in front of him.
You go to stand beside the setter to observe his progress. Your eyebrows furrow together as you watch the claw delicately pick up the stuffed animal and you skeptically ask, “Isn’t it supposed to be pretty hard to win a crane game prize?”
Immediately after the question leaves your mouth, the puppy falls from the claw’s grip, still a ways away from the toy chute. Oikawa quickly glances over at you and the determination in his chocolate brown eyes makes you realize that you’ve made a grave mistake: Seijoh’s star player is extremely competitive and if anybody claims that something is too formidable for him, he will fixate on proving them wrong.
“Have a little faith in me, Y/N,” he assures you before scrutinizing the claw and the plushie.
A few tries turn into a couple of minutes.
A couple of minutes turns into five minutes.
“Tooru…” you start to whine, but Oikawa cuts you off by waving his hand (the one not gingerly maneuvering the joystick) in your general direction.
“Shhh,” he mumbles, not tearing his gaze away from the Shiba Inu. “I’ve almost got it.”
Five minutes turns into ten minutes and Oikawa’s finally out of coins, but he refuses to give up. Instead, he takes a few more bills from his wallet without any hesitation and rushes off to convert them into more coins.
When he returns and starts adding the money into the crane game, you cross your arms over your chest and give him a vacant stare, “You are aware that you’re wasting your money, right? It would literally be cheaper to buy this exact same plushie in a store.”
“But winning it is better than just buying it!” Oikawa exclaims as if what he is saying is an obvious fact. Then, he once again goes back to attempting to obtain the puppy (whose cute face is basically mocking him at this point) on your behalf.
Following another five minutes of intense concentration, the Shiba Inu is leaning precariously against the chute. Your boyfriend decides not to even try picking it up. All he has to do is carefully angle the claw, so that he can gently shove the plushie over the edge...
And this strategy pays off.
Oikawa lets out a victorious holler as he leans down to claim the prize. Next thing you know, your boyfriend is sporting a triumphant grin while holding out the Shiba Inu towards you.
You look back and forth between the puppy and Oikawa with a raised eyebrow then sigh. “You’re a dumbass.”
The captain places a hand over his chest, as if he’s been wounded, and wails, “How am I a dumbass?!”
Although Oikawa can be dramatic and stubborn sometimes, you must admit that he is extremely sweet. You know that he will strive to make you happy no matter what, even if it means spending an absurd amount of money on a stuffed animal. It is heartwarming and reassuring to know that you have a significant other who values your happiness so much.
So, you roll your eyes in response to his complaint and a small smile forms on your lips. You accept the plushie from his hands and lean forward to press a gentle kiss on his cheek.
“Thank you for the plushie,” you say and promptly add, “But don’t ever spend a ridiculous amount of money on something like this ever again.”
“Roger,” Oikawa concedes, raising his hand to his forehead to give you a mock salute, which causes you to burst out laughing.
Some people might perceive your boyfriend as an intimidating force to be reckoned with, but to you, he is a lovable goofball who groans internally every time he sees a crane game.

“...sorry that i can’t come to the phone right now, but- james?” you picked up, hearing the shaking breaths of bucky’s down the line as he tries to self soothe himself.
“hey,” he sighed down the receiver; you could imagine his metal hand running through his shortened locks, too. “did i wake you?”
“no, no, i’m always awake at...three-fourteen in the morning.” you replied, a teasing tone to your voice as you rubbed your sleep-ridden eyes.
“i just needed to hear your voice,” to ground me, he wanted to say, “i’m sorry, it was selfish.”
“i don’t mind, i wanna talk to you.” you smiled, knowing in a minute or so you’d be leaving the confines of your apartment to walk across the hall to bucky’s.
the other side of the phone stayed quiet for a moment, the only thing being heard was the static of the line. you didn’t want to say anything, knowing bucky usually needed a minute or two to collect this thoughts before he asked you to come over.
his excuse was that he felt like a burden; your response was always the opposite. ever since you had met him, something you always reminded him was that you were there for him, knowing what he had been through. although he was hesitant, the majority of the time you were by his side in the early hours of the morning.
“can you come over? just for a little while?” bucky’s voice was small, quiet, as always when he asked those four words. both of you knew that you’d be there much longer than ‘a little while’, but you didn’t mind when you forever replied,
“of course.”
it wasn’t long before you pulled a hoodie over your head, slipping on some socks before making your way to your front door. you grabbed your keys and opened your door, turning and twisting the lock as quickly as you could.
the hallway seemed darker than usual that night, the chill of the wooden floorboards seeping through your socks and hitting the pads of your feet as you crossed over to bucky’s apartment door. you knocked, waiting for the answer which came only a second or two later.
“i’m sorry.” was the first and only words he spoke as the door swung open.
“it’s okay.” you replied as bucky stood to the side, allowing you to step through the door before he closed it behind you.
the bareness of his apartment always worried you; it felt as if there was little progress happening, but it was. slowly but surely, and bucky knew this, he was just waiting for the right moment to ask you to go shopping with him. help pick out a new sofa, one you found comfortable. maybe even a coffee table, or a dining table so you had a proper place to sit while you ate your various take-outs every week.
it wasn’t like you didn’t see each other enough for him to ask, but he was hesitant; worried you’d say no, that he’d miss judged your friendship, your relationship even, that you were only a source of comfort on nights like this and not a friend who helped make a house a home.
even after that time you’d been with him whilst buying new bed sheets. his mind kept telling him right place, right time, that you didn’t actually want to do that with him, but you’d felt obliged to when running into each other in the store.
he was wrong, of course. your friendship meant the world to the both of you and you adored bucky, but he needed time and so did you. so, your friendship was just that: friends who saw each other the majority of the time, who found any free moment to spend together and who slept next to each other on nights like these...
bucky locked the door behind you before grabbing himself a quick drink, watching your figure as you stepped into the side of the living room and hovered over the blanket and pillow on the floor.
like usual, you said nothing, only following the same route into his bedroom while bucky left his now empty glass in the sink. just as he turned the corner, you were pulling the covers back, pulling off your hoodie and sliding under the sheets.
he watched for a minute, waiting for you to find a comfortable spot with the sheets pulled tightly around your body.
his mattress was cold, still hard, yet comfortable, from when he first bought it. the sheets were soft, too, your choice - of course - colours which you had said complemented his eyes; it was more difficult hiding the blush on his face than you hiding the price tag. he bought them anyway, knowing that you wanted the best for him and hoping that you’d put them to use some time.
and use them you had. there had been many nights since that day which you had spent in his bed, curled up against him as you feel asleep and bucky attempted to. you were the only reason the sheets got washed often; other than you and him on nights like these, nobody else used them.
it wasn’t long before he moved from his place by the door, following your early actions and joining you under the covers. ever the gentleman, bucky stayed on his side while you stayed on yours, him on his back with you on your side facing him.
it took for you to move closer to him, pressing your body into his for either of you to begin feeling any comfort.
the warmth of bucky’s body was a pleasant contrast to the mattress, both of you slowly warming up the longer you were huddled together. truly, you hadn’t meant to lay like this, but after climbing under the sheets next to him for the first time, bucky pulled you into his side and wrapped his arms around you. as if on instinct, your head laid on his bare chest, a hand resting in the middle of his torso as you shifted onto your side.
there were some delicate whispers from the two of you before you drifted to sleep. your kind words soothed bucky’s mind as he allowed himself to relax and settle back into the pillows; a luxury he rarely let himself have. his allowed you to feel them reverberate in his chest, his low hums acting as a settler for your thoughts.
both of you were asleep moments later.
-
“was it the nightmares again?” you asked the following night, your back against the headboard of your bed, the bright moonlight shining through the thin curtains you’d forgotten to pull across the window earlier.
“no”
“you suck at lying.” a light giggle came from you, followed by bucky’s unpleased sigh. you were right; he knew it and so did you, but you wanted him to admit it.
“i really don’t.” you scoffed lightly at those words, knowing that he didn’t even believe his own words.
“james barnes, how have you not yet learned that you cannot lie to me? i know you.” like always, there was a teasing tone to your voice, trying your best to cheer him up over the phone, especially when you could just tell that the nightmares were bad tonight.
for a moment, the other side of the phone feel silent, except for some light rustling of covers. you knew he was laid on the floor, blanket on top of and under him. regardless of how many times the two of you had tried, bucky could never find comfort inbetween his sheets unless you were there by his side.
“buck? you still there?” you hadn’t meant for your voice to go so quiet, but you really didn’t want to stop talking to him; you never wanted to stop talking to him.
“yeh, yeh i’m still here-” his sentence was almost cut off by three rough knocks at your door, making you body stiffen.
“hold that thought, buck.” you replied, moving slowly off of your bed and towards your slightly open bedroom door.
“doll, its okay,” he spoke softly, noticing the slight quiver to your voice. “its only me”
“could you not have told me that?” you laughed, speeding up to open the door as to not let him stand in the hallway for much longer.
“hey.” he smiled as the door opened, dropping his phone from his ear before ending the call.
“hey.” you mirrored his smile, doing the same while moving to the side to allow him in. as you shut and locked the door, bucky went through his usual routine every time he stepped into your apartment this late at night. his keys were dropped into the bowl on top of the cabinet by your front door, then he grabbed a drink fro your kitchen that was adjacent to your entryway, and then he met you in the doorway of your bedroom, your arms open and waiting for him.
he gladly accepted the contact, always relying on you to ground him when it felt like he’d been floating for too long. and tonight he had been.
both of you used the minimal light from the moon to figure out your way to your bed, his right hand never letting go of yours until he finally had to. the covers were pulled back from where you had left them moments ago, the sheets now cold.
the two of you laid in your bed moment later, bucky being the first to be settled on his back as you began to be pressed against his side, your head on his chest. along with the curtains, earlier you had left a small window open, allowing the noise of brooklyn at night to seep through to your room. neither of you would be falling asleep anytime soon.
“i love you, buck.” your whispered confession making its way to bucky just before he closed his eyes.
“love you, too.” he replied, not allowing the true meaning of his words to be heard.
“no, bucky,” you sat up, leaning your weight onto your right elbow as your left hand reached out for his cheek. “i love you, okay? i love you.”
there was no words for him. he truly hadn’t expected the weight of your confession and it has shocked him beyond words. all he could think to say was,
“i love you, too, doll.” his shy smile made an appearance, reminding you of the first time you saw each other. with that, you leaned forward, placing a delicate kiss onto his lips, the corner of his mouth and on his cheek.
bucky’s smile never faltered, only growing wider the longer you planted kisses upon his skin.
after leaving a lingering one on his jaw, you moved back to face him, resting your forehead onto his. “goodnight, baby.” you whispered, pressing one last kiss on to his lips.
“goodnight, doll.” bucky repeated your actions, leaving the both of you in a fit of smiles.
and, just like earlier, you laid on your side, your head resting above bucky’s heart with his vibranium arm around your shoulders. the two of you were asleep a few moments later, the steady beat of his heart bringing about a peace which you always felt around him.
