you need to rest

You tiptoed down the stairs from the second floor of Bobby's house, careful not to step on the places you knew creaked. You had awoken feeling the full effects of your dehydration, and needed a glass of water asap or you were certain your mouth would shrivel up and die.
As you reached the bottom of the stairs, you noticed a faint glow coming from inside the library. The men often stayed up late researching, so you didn't even look to see who it was, beelining to the kitchen to get your water.
The doors separating the library from the kitchen were closed, so it wasn't until you were on your way back to bed when you glanced inside the library.
It wasn't Bobby up late, like you assumed. It was Sam, laying over a pile of books, his head resting on his forearm like a pillow. His laptop was open in front of him, casting his face in a ghostly light that emphasized the tired lines etched into his skin.
You walked to the desk softly and placed your water glass down, leaning over Sam to close his browser windows and turn off his laptop.
You gently shook Sam's shoulder. He jerked upright and grabbed your arm, always ready for a fight. "It's just me, Sam," you whispered. He instantly relaxed and dropped your arm.
"Sorry," he said, rubbing his eyes. "Guess I fell asleep."
"It's four in the morning," you told him sympathetically. "You've been working yourself to the bone over this thing. You need to rest."
"I'm fine," Sam croaked. He looked haggard, dark bags under his eyes and lines carved into his brow from squinting.
A few moments from the past week clicked into place in your mind. Sam leaning against the kitchen counter, arms folded and eyes closed. Sam dozing off in the car on the way to town. Sam with his forehead pressed to a bookshelf, jumping when the book fell from his hand, and insisting that he hadn't been falling asleep. Going to bed before Sam and waking up with him not there.
"Jesus. How much sleep have you been getting?" you asked concernedly. "You look like shit."
"I don't know."
"Don't know or won't say because you know it's not enough?"
Sam heaved a sigh that turned into a yawn. "Maybe like, three hours a night? Two? I've gone longer with less."
"A year without a soul doesn't count," you said, swatting his arm. "Come on, we're going to bed."
"But-" he protested.
"Sam."
He closed his eyes defeatedly. "Okay. You win."
Sam rose from the chair slowly and grabbed you into his arms sleepily, resting his chin on your head.
You led him by his limp arm up the stairs to the room you two were staying in, although lately it had just been you. Sam didn't bother to put pajamas on, simply kicking off his shoes and falling face-first into the mattress. You giggled, setting your water down on the side table, and followed suit.
Sam peeked one eye open to look at you. You brushed his hair behind his ear. "You gotta take better care of yourself."
He smiled half-heartedly. "That's what I have you for," he teased. As you scoffed, he turned onto his side and pulled you against his chest. You snuggled against his warm body, face stuffed into his flannel, breathing in the scent of him.
You yawned, causing him to yawn as well, sending you both into a fit of giggles. You turned your face solemn again. "Promise me you'll come to bed when I do this week. At least."
Sam looked lovingly into your upturned face and kissed you on the forehead. "Promise," he whispered. His hand cupped the back of your head and pulled you close into his neck again.
You kissed the base of his throat. "I love you. I don't want you to run yourself into the ground."
He exhaled lightly. "I won't. I know you won't let me. And I know it's not your job to take care of me, but... I appreciate it."
Your arm curled around his side, rubbing his back. "I know," you said simply.
As the first pale fingers of dawn crept over the horizon, you and Sam had dozed off in each other's arms, breathing in tandem.
Finally resting.

Miracle-twenty two
Tumblr media
Pairings: Noah Sebastian x Reader
Warnings/Tropes: forced proximity, slight enemies to lovers, slow burn, smut, angst, fluff, mentions of death, and swearing.
Summary: Reader is the merch girl for Bad Omens. It wasn't what she wanted to do with her life but when her mother got sick with Alzheimer's, reader took a job where she could to help with the costs. She thought it would be a one-time gig but the longer she was on the road with them, the harder she fell for Noah Sebastian; even if he wanted nothing to do with her. She needed a miracle to save her mom and her future.
Author Note: The moment you've all been waiting for. I know I teased masked sex in this one BUT it's going to have to wait for the next chapter. TWO CHAPTERS LEFT; I REPEAT TWO CHAPTERS LEFT!

"Noah, I swear to the gods, put me down," I giggled while smacking his back.
He ignored my protest and pathetic attempt to break free from his hold as he opened the door to his room, kicking it closed behind him. My upside down view was of his round ass, which I tried hard not to take a bite out off, so I wasn't able to see what was scattered around the room and bed until Noah gently let me fall to my feet.
I brushed my hair out of my face while narrowing my eyes at him. "You can't manhandle me to get what you want, you know."
He scoffed while raising a brow. "Says the girl that just jerked me off in front of the guys."
I pursed my lips, a red hue covering my cheeks, and when I went to retort back with a witty comeback, I noticed the scene in front of me.
Behind Noah, who was smirking like an idiot, were a couple bouquets of flowers; one on his dresser, one on the table next to his bed, and one on his desk next to his computer. All black dahlia's, my favorite.
"Davis told me that back in high school you used to be obsessed with black dahlia's," Noah said as he watched me fiddle with one between my fingers.
Tears burned at the back of my eyes but I refused to let them slip.
"Yeah," I cleared my throat. "After the murder; call me grotesque but I'm a huge true crime nerd."
Noah smiled warmly at me when I gazed over to him. "When did you do all this? We've been together all night.
"I set it up when you ran to grab the pizza's. Although, I was hoping to have you up here a lot sooner. The playlist I made is almost over."
"Playlist?" I questioned, now hearing the soft tune of music play from his computer.
Bending over the desk, I scrolled through the entire Spotify playlist he created and titled it Angel. It had all of my favorite songs and of course, some Bad Omens songs. Between the flowers and playlist, my heart was swooning with such an intense feeling that I had to grip the chair in front of me to steady myself. Why did I feel like this? Why was this unknown feeling so intense that I couldn't breathe?
Love, you idiot. You fucking love Noah Sebastian.
I almost stumbled on my feet when the realization slammed through me like a fucking truck. There always was this sensation that lurked at the depths of my heart and soul that knew I loved Noah. With everything that's happened the last few weeks, however, clouded over those sensations until recently. The more time I spent with now, the intense those sensations vibrated throughout my veins.
"You didn't have to do all this, Noah," my bottom lip trembled.
He cupped my cheek, thumb grazing over the trembling lip. "Yes, I did. You've been going through so much lately and while I don't know what's going on in your mind exactly."
Noah's fingers tapped against my forehead causing me to let out a small laugh.
"I do know that you needed something to lift your spirits," he finished then motioned to the bed behind me.
Looking over my shoulder, a gasp fell from my lips when I saw a small velvet box on the bed, next to a piece of paper that folded perfectly in half. Noah quickly hushed my panic with a kiss to the side of my head when he noticed my shoulders went stiff.
"It's not a ring, don't worry," he muttered.
Good.
Because I only realized I loved him, the last thing I needed right now was a proposal. But that didn't mean I was opposed to it down the road.
With shaky hands, I opted in picking up the piece of paper first and seeing what it was made my stomach flip repeatedly.
"A plane ticket?" I peered up at Noah.
"You're coming with to Europe, angel. Wether its to work for Bad Omens or to be with me. I'm not letting you stay back," Noah's tucked a piece of hair behind my ears, fingers lingering on the skin of my neck.
Guilt pulled at my heart. "I think I have no choice but to work for you. I have to save up some money if I want to find a place. Although, I'm not sure how I'm going to afford anything over in Europe. Maybe I should stay back and find a job here-."
Noah hushed my ramblings with a fiery kiss, hand burying into my hair while the other grasped at the back of my neck to pull me into his chest. The plane ticket fluttered to the ground as I grabbed a fist full of his shirt and I had to stand on my toes to lean up into the kiss.
"For once, angel. Stop worrying about what you have to do in order to survive. I'm here now, let me help you with things," he muttered against my lips.
"But I-."
Once again, Noah cut off my words with his lips but this kiss wasn't intense as the last one.
"Please let me do this, okay?" He leaned back so he could look into my eyes. "Let me take care of you the way I should have from the start."
The part of me that was used to fighting help or fighting to survive screamed to decline, tell Noah to fuck off and I didn't need his help. But learning to change and heal from the trauma of my past made me eventually nod. I needed to learn to accept help because there were something I couldn't do on my own.
"Okay," I breathed. "But I still think I should start looking for an apartment. It might take a while of me working to save up."
Noah grabbed the other gift and placed it in my hands. "This might help."
I raised a curious brow at him. "What is it?"
"That's the whole concept of a gift. You open it and see," he urged me on with a nod.
I smacked his hand away as he tried to open the box for me and when I saw what was inside; I was even more confused.
"A key?" I wondered while picking it up out of the box. "What's this for?"
Noah rubbed the back of his neck."Uh, shit. I had this whole thing planned in my head but now that you're standing in front of me, I'm nervous."
My heart hammered against my chest as I waited for him to find the words he needed to say, still clutching the key tight in my hand. I knew what he was going to ask and my brain was screaming the answer already before he even asked.
With his hand in mine, the thumb that had the angel wings tattoo rubbing across the back of my hand, Noah locked his eyes with mine.
"Move in with me, angel."
The words stumbled out in one large garbled mess, and Noah cursed. "Fuck, this was a lot easier when I practiced it in my head."
Through my own nerves, I couldn't help but giggle at how adorable he was in this moment. From the second I opened the small box, I knew what he wanted to ask me but I was still very on the fence about it.
"Are you sure that's a good idea? We're going to be with each other all the time at home and at work? Won't you get sick of me?"
The corner of Noah's lips curled up in a smile. "You said home."
Fuck.
I bit the inside of my cheek to hide my own smile. "You know what I mean."
He pulled me down to sit on his bed with him and brough my legs into his lap, fingers grazing over the bare skin of my thighs. The small action did so much to calm my racing heart.
"There's no way I could get sick of you. Having you with me when I wake up in the morning or go to sleep at the end of a long day makes whatever issues we may have down the road worth it. It makes sense if you think about it. Why would I have you go find a place of your own when Jolly and I have all this extra space?"
My eyes widened. "Oh, please tell me you talked to Jolly about this? I don't want him to feel left out or what if he thinks we're going to kick him out?"
"Jolly is fine with it," Noah reassured me by pulling out his phone to show me the text thread between him and Jolly.
Of course, he was telling the truth. Jolly even called him out for not asking sooner. But when I watched Noah swipe out of the messages, I got a peak at the background on his phone and my cheeks flushed with a blazing heat. It was a picture of me, one that I posted on my Only Fans; the one of mean in their Bad Omens shirt in the tour bus bathroom.
"Noah Sebastian!" I scolded. "Why the fuck is that your background?!"
I jumped into his lap to snatch the phone from him hoping to change the background. Noah laughed while one hand kept the phone away from quite a distance and his other arm snaked around my back to keep me in place.
"It's fucking hot, angel." Noah shrugged so matter-of-factly.
"What if someone sees it?" I seethed trying to reach for the phone again. "Well, Folio's already seen those but still."
"Don't remind me," Noah grumbled, dropping his phone on his bed.
The grip on me turned possessive and for a moment, I stopped trying to grab his phone and instead, cupped Noah's face.
"You have no reason to be jealous. I deleted the page but we both know those pictures are out there. It was something I knew would happen when I started the page."
"I know," he eventually sighed.
"Why do you even want that picture as your background? You can't see my face," I wondered.
Noah's eyes darkened as he licked his lips. "Maybe you should take another one for me, this time where I can see your gorgeous face."
"Hm," I hummed while brushing my nose across his. "You'd like that, wouldn't you?"
"You don't even know."
My squeal of laughter echoed around the room when Noah flipped us on the bed so he was leaning over me, digging his hips into mine. A mixture between a moan and a whine fell from my lips and I grasped at his hips so I could keep him close. He was still wearing his sweats from earlier so I could still feel the hard definition of his hardening cock. With his face buried in the crook of my neck, Noah breathed me in while leaving pepper light kisses everywhere.
"You said home," he repeated his words form earlier.
"Yes," I breathed out a moan when his cock slide over the folds of my pussy.
I was still turned on from our little under the blanket action earlier and with everything he was doing right now; I was minutes away from coming undone.
"So you'll stay?"
Noah pulled away so he could gaze down at me, hair falling into his eyes. I gently brushed it away so I could get a good look of his face to see if he truly meant and understood what he was asking of me. This wasn't something he could take back, or well he could but it would mean the end of our relationship. That wasn't something I wanted.
But through the dark depths of his eyes, I could see that Noah meant every part of his question.
Leaning up so my lips ghosted over his, I smiled. "Only if you change your background."
"It's a fucking deal, angel," Noah said before crashing his lips to mine.
We both moaned into the kiss, starved for the desire that's been clawing at our insides for weeks. It's been an unspoken rule between us that even though we've fooled around, we still haven't had sex yet. Neither of us knew why we were waiting so long to jump over that hurdle but now that the future was bright and clear of any more obstacles, we were ready.
I was ready.
Noah's large hand spread across the skin of my stomach as he slipped it underneath my shirt, fingers pulling at the waistband of my pants, a silent question.
"Please," I begged, raising my hips up to meet his.
He made quick work of shedding me of my pants then my shirt, me now laying underneath him in just a pair of black panties. Sheer darkness filled the whites of his eyes as he cocked his head at me.
"You weren't wearing a bra all night?"
I shrugged innocently. "Oops."
Noah's savageness poured out of him through his kiss as he attacked my lips once more and now it was me who slipped him off his shirt and sweats, the black briefs doing absolutely nothing to hide the hardness of his cock. I ran my palm over it, his entire body shivering underneath my touch.
"Fuck, angel. If you keep that up I'm going to cum in your hand all over again," he groaned while bitting my bottom lip.
I hissed in pleasure, the taste of copper lingering on my tongue.
"Did you-." I licked my bottom lip. "Did you just bite me?"
Noah shrugged. "Oops."
Wrapping my legs around his waist, I somehow managed to flip us around so I was now straddling him. It wasn't an easy task since he was much taller than me but we made it work even though we were horizontal on the bed.
"Noah."
His name fell from my lips in a whine full of desperation. He barley touched me but the wetness between my legs was warm and I needed this release so fucking bad.
"What do you want from me?" His hand slide up my stomach to cup my breast, fingers pinching and pulling my nipples.
"You. I just want you."
With his free hand, he helped me shimmy out of my panties then I hurriedly slid his briefs down his long legs, eyes lingering on the array of tattoo's. I was kneeling in front of him and leaned towards the rose tattoo on his right kneecap to pepper kisses along it before jumping over to the Japanese style mask on his left leg, purposely avoiding the tattoo of Bryan's face.
"That's so fucking weird."
"Trust me. That's not the weirdest tattoo I have," he chuckled.
My lips parted over the leaking head of Noah's cock, fingers wrapping around the base, and I licked up the bits of pre-cum that seeped through the slit. I hummed in pure delight as the salty taste lingered on my lips.
"So good," I praised looking up at him through my lashes
He groaned pleasure, or annoyance that I was taking my time, I wasn't sure. Noah sat up and rested his elbows on his knees, the LED lights behind his bed and around his room bathed him in an orange glow.
"Angel," he warned. "I'm not in the mood for games. Please."
I rose to my feet slowly. "Is Noah Sebastian begging?"
"Fuck yes I am," he sighed.
"Well, who am I to make you wait," I straddled his hips once again and gently pushed him back onto the bed, the head of his cock sliding along my folds.
My head leaned back in pure bliss when Noah guided himself past my wetness, the thickness of his cock filling me completely. It pulsed inside of me, earning a desperate groan from me. Noah's eyes fluttered shut as his lips parted to an 'O' shape and hands gripping my hips so tight I was sure there would be bruises in the morning.
But I didn't care. Having him finally inside of me felt so fucking good.
I rocked my hips against him with my swollen clit rubbing against his warm stomach and I shivered at the sensation. Everything from earlier sent me in a spiral of pure desire and I felt the coil in my stomach pulling tight.
"Are you alright?" I asked when I realized Noah was barley moving.
He nodded, eyes finding mine through the messy strands of hair that covered his face.
"You're just so fucking beautiful, angel. I've wanted this for so long," he admitted and grabbed the back of my neck to yank me down towards him.
He attacked my lips with so my force I had to rest a hand on his chest, our tongues exploring each other mouths in a kiss so vicious it made my head spin. Noah's hips finally moved in a slow, steady stroke and I whined into the kiss.
"More," I mumbled into his lips.
"Fuck, angel." He groaned. "If I go faster, I'll-. It's too good."
I cupped his face to look at him. "Noah, please don't think you need to make this last an hour. I'm so fucking close and I can tell you are too. I have an implant so you don't have to worry about anything."
That's all he needed before his arms wrapped around my back, pulling me closer to his chest as his hips snapped up into me in violent strokes, the head of his cock hitting that perfect spot. I yelled out my pleasure, exposing my neck to Noah who immediately attacked it with his teeth leaving bite marks all along it.
My body hummed in a prayer like awaking, the flames and heat burning high in my belly as my organs crested higher; so fucking high I was afraid I would combust into nothing but matter in the air. His name fell from my lips in devotion, a woman praying to her God, and my toes curled as the orgasm ripped through me with so much force I screamed out in pure bliss.
"I love you."
The aftershocks halted, my body going rigid in Noah's embrace, who didn't bother to stop moving his hips. My heart swelled with so much emotion at hearing those three words and I brushed back the stand of hair from Noah's face, it stuck to the skin with his sweat.
"Wha-what did you say?" I stammered, breathless.
He blinked slow. "I love you, angel. I'm so fucking sorry for everything hurtful thing I've done or said to you but I promise I'll spend forever making it up to you."
"I." Thrust. "Love." Thrust. "You."
A second orgasm tore through my entire being at Noah's proclamation and my head fell into his chest, his cock twitching before he released himself deep within my walls, a low groan rumbling from his throat. We lay there tangled in each other's arms for a long moment to let our breathing calm, along with our hearts. Although, there was no way mine would ever beat normal after hearing Noah loved me.
He loves me.
I peppered kisses all along the tattoo's over his chest as I curled myself underneath his arm, exhaustion digging deep into my bones.
"I love you too, Noah."

tony stark masterlist
Tumblr media
you internally rolled your eyes as you watched as everyone started to leave for the night. it was a friday night and most of the work had been given to you, like usual—countless documents to go over, meetings to set up, and a plethora of emails to be sent.
the vast majority your coworkers despised you, especially your female coworkers. they were all under the impression that you were having an affair with your boss. the he looked at you, brought you coffee every morning, and even gave you your own office was proof enough for them.
if it weren't for you overhearing them talking about you, you would've never realized why they treated you the way they did.
"she's such a whore. sleeping with tony just to keep her job." she said with disgust in her tone and a not so subtle eye roll.
you weren't totally oblivious. you were aware he treated you a little differently than everyone else, but you just assumed it was because you were new, but that treatment continued as the months went by.
and you definitely weren't blind, he was attractive—very attractive. he towered over you, his dark brown hair flecked with gray here and there. he had one ring on his pinky, the gold band always shined bright as he walked through the office.
with most of the office empty, you knew you'd be able to get a decent amount of work done, giving yourself a nice head start for the following workweek.
tony observed you from his office, your eyebrows furrowed in concentration, bottom lip tucked between your teeth as you read your screen. he smiled as you bopped your head to the music that played through your headphones.
he admired how hard you always worked, even when the rest of his employees attempted to make your job more difficult.
you were so lost in your work that you didn't notice tony leaving his office, standing in front of your cubicle. you let out a startled gasp as you looked up.
"sorry, didn't mean to scare you." he let out a breathy laugh, you laughed with him, feeling slightly embarrassed at your reaction.
"it's okay. i didn't notice you were there. can i do anything for you?" you ask, taking your headphones off to look up at him.
"what are you still doing here? you should've left a few hours ago." he stated, walking around to look at your screen. you felt his colonge seep into your system as he leaned in close to you, cocking your neck to see his profile from the side.
he sensed your gaze and turned to meet yours, smiling.
you turned red when his eyes met yours. internally cursing at yourself for staring like an idiot.
"um, i'm just getting ahead. i don't have anything planned tonight so i figured i'd stay a bit later and get some work out of the way. i can leave if you're on your way out." you offered, not wanting him to stay longer so he could close once you left.
you noticed tony's eyes drop to your lips for split second. he shook his head. "no, i don't mind." he stood up straight turning around to walk back to his office but he suddenly stopped. "actually, could you come into my office for a second? i could use you're help with something."
you nodded your head, followed him.
you loved the view he had in his office, big windows from the floor to the ceiling that showed off the beautiful city. the room was pretty dark apart from a small lamp that sat on his desk, illuminating enough to see what he needed to see.
he reached under his desk and pulled out a thick binder, flipping through it till he found what he needed.
"i like to keep track of sales here." he point at the spreadsheet. "but, it's not very organized. i used to know what was what but i lost track and want to sort it out. any suggestions?" he says resting his hands on the desk to be eye level with you.
once again you find yourself staring again but pull yourself together quicker this time.
"well, you can go by dates." you look down at the binder, noticing he has dates by each number. "if you don't mind, i can go through and but the dates in order on a new spreadsheet and have it ready by monday." you say with a smile, tucking your hair behind your ear when you look back up and find him already looking at you.
"thank you for the offer, but i can do it myself." he smiles at you. the lighting in his office enhances your feature and he can't bring himself to take his eyes off you. "you work harder than everyone else, no reason for me to pile on anything more."
you smile at his comment, realizing he does notice your attempt at being a good employee.
your smile made tonys heart skip a beat, he wasn't sure why but he started to lean into you, and you didn't stop him. his soft lips pressed against yours, leading you into a gentle kiss. you let it happen, tasting the mint gum he had previously had.
he placed his hands on your waist, pulling you into him. even with him bending down, you still had to crane your neck upwards to reach his lips. the kiss was quickly become more and more passionate. neither one of you could get enough.
tony pulled away at the lack of air, pressing his forehead against yours. "tell me to stop." he whispered, catching his breath.
part of you wanted to tell him to stop, you shouldn't be crossing the line on professionalism like this. but the other half wanted this, so you kept quite, locking your eyes with his.
your eyes told him all he needed to know, he rushed back in, kissing you harder, placing his big hands on the back of your legs, lifting you up and setting you on the edge of his desk.
his hands roamed your body, reaching the end of your shirt to pull it off you. he start to kiss down your neck when you pull of his jacket, quickly undoing the buttons on shirt.
the way he feels against you has you feeling dizzy. his touch feels so good. he reaches your bra and unclasps it, you move your arms so it falls right off.
"god, you're beautiful." he says as he pulls back away from you, slipping his shirt off.
you also take the chance to admire him, he was just pure muscle, sculpted by god himself.
he reaches around you and unzips your skirt, you lift your hips so he can pull them off, taking your panties off as well. he pulls you closer to the edge of the desk and kneels in front of you. your body feels like it's on a fire at this point.
he leans in and licks your cunt. your eyes flutter shut at the feeling. his warm tongue laps up your arousal, humming against you at your taste. he wastes no time, sucking your clit into his mouth and massage his fingers around your hole.
you lean back on your hands and watch as he eats you out, his eyes locking with yours when he pushes two fingers inside you. his thick fingers stretch you out in the most delicious way possible.
he thrusts them in and out before he curls them upwards. between his tongue and fingers, you can't hold yourself up anymore, dropping yourself onto your back. your hand finds it's way into his hair, slightly tugging at his roots. a moan vibrates against you at the action, causing you to arch your back.
you were embarrassed at how fast your orgasm was approaching but tony just encouraged you, moving faster, pressing his fingers deeper inside you.
your release hit you like a truck. vision blurring, stomach tightening, legs shaking around his head, hands tugging harshly at his hair. he didn't slow down his movements, wanting to prolong it for as long as possible. he only pulled away when you started to push him away at how sensitive you had gotten.
he rested his head against your thigh and watched as you catched your breath, he could still feel the subtle shake of your legs. pressing kisses against your leg, he made his way up your body to your lips. you moaned at the taste of yourself, sitting up so you could undo his pants.
you pushed them down and let him kick them off. grabbing his cock, you stroke him as you two continue to kiss. you could feel how big he was, throbbing in your hand. pulling away, you slightly lean back and line him up with your entrance.
he looks down at you, almost as if asking for permission. you nod your head and he slowly pushes into you. the moan that leaves your lips is involuntarily, he stretches you out in ways you never felt before.
you hear him curse under his breath when he's fully nestled inside you. he just rests inside you, letting you get accustomed before he pulls out. he movements are slow, letting you feel each and every inch.
"you feel so good." he groans, placing his hands on your hips.
his deep voice just turns you on more; the slow movements are like torture, you needed more.
"please. please move faster." you almost beg, gripping his bicep for extra support.
he puts his arms under your legs to push them upwards, almost pinning them against you. he thrusts faster, deeper. leaning down, he kisses you, letting you wrap your hands around his neck to pull him closer. the kiss is mainly the two of you moaning into each others mouths.
he suddenly feels bold and picks you up off the desk and walks towards the glass, pressing you against it so he can thrust up into you. the cool glass against your warm skin feels amazing and the risk of potentially being seen, excites you.
he reaches deeper inside you in this position, hitting your g-spot with each stroke. you throw you head back, pleasure courses through every part of your body.
tony leans forward and places kissing on your exposed throat, making his way towards your sweet spot, sucking on the skin.
"i'm so close. tony, please."
your whining spurs him on. he wraps an arm around your waist to hold you up and uses his free hand to rub your clit. the added stimulation has your toes curling. his movements speed up, deep moans vibrate through his chest.
he knows your close, he can feel your cunt squeeze his cock, making it harder for him move.
"cum, baby. go ahead." he whispers, choking out a moan when his own release hits him.
this one is 10x more intense then the first one. your entire body goes stiff, you can't control the moans that leave your mouth as it washes over you.
tony rests his head against your shoulder as he fills you up. he's never had an orgasm this stronger before. he gently places you places you on the floor, legs wobbling when your feet meet the ground.
"stay here, let me grab some tissues." he says before rushing over to his desk.
you lean against the glass, still catch your breath from the orgasm you just had. he leans down to clean the mess between your legs, doing his best to get you as clean as possible.
you smile at him when he stands straight, appreciating that he took the time to clean you up. he picks up your clothes and helps you get dressed after just throwing on his pants and shirt.
"let me go get you some water." he says, leaving the office.
suddenly it's like your mind clears and you realize what just happened, a wave of guilt washes over you and you find yourself panicking.
the break room was on the other side of the floor so you step out of the office and quickly grab your things from your cubicle, rushing into the elevator so you could leave.
you made a huge mistake sleeping with your boss.

Kane & Jim #52: Trust
Chronological masterlist / Writing order masterlist
content: kidnapping, rescue, comfort, vampire whumpee / caretaker / whumper, whumper turned whumpee turned caretaker, caretaker turned whumpee, begging, humans as livestock, mild classism?
Whumpmas in July Day 12: Search & Rescue
here it is! i've been trying to write this one since literally april, sorry it took so long. i imagine the present arc as divided into 3 parts.
this is the finale of part 1!
-
It had been six months since Jim brought him home, and Kane was fully on a human schedule. He'd gotten into human music as well, with Jim bringing home new CDs for him on a regular basis. He liked to listen to them before bed, after Jim had locked him back downstairs and the sun had set. He would take notes on the music, his hand no longer shaking with weakness. And when he was done and the basement he'd come to think of as home was silent again, he would drift off to sleep. Plagued often with nightmares, but he always knew that he'd wake up safe and unharmed.
A quiet, peaceful life. Kane got a shallow bowl of fresh blood each day, Jim never hurt him, and he had his own little space with possessions of both need and want. He didn't care that he was a prisoner, that the now-fixed door bolted shut each night, that he was made to wear chains upstairs, that he couldn't leave if he wanted to. He was safe. He was happy, something he never thought he would be again.
So it was all the more worrying when his quiet night was interrupted by the screech of tires and the sound of someone's frantic struggling with the front door.
Kane got up from his desk and went to bed immediately, wrapping himself up in his blanket as his mind raced with possibilities. The hunters, always his first fear. It made no sense, they'd handed him over to Jim willingly, but he couldn't stop picturing it. His tormentors coming to snatch him away from his new, peaceful life, where he didn't hurt anybody and nobody hurt him, bringing him back to that horrible place where there was only pain. He shuddered at the thought.
The front door clicked open upstairs, the right key finally inserted. "Jim!" Liz's familiar voice cried.
Kane allowed himself to relax, somewhat. Yes, a hunter, but one who he knew by now wouldn't hurt him without cause. He could never bring himself to feel fully comfortable around her, but she hadn't harmed him yet. And if he kept being good, maybe she wouldn't ever.
Jim's footsteps came quickly, and though Kane couldn't make out the exact words of their conversation after Liz's initial shout, he could tell it wasn't good. She was crying, he was pretty sure.
Kane slowly got out of bed, concerned. Something was wrong, that much was obvious, but he was locked in the basement, and there was nothing he could do. He crept over to the stairs, but didn't climb them, unwilling to get closer to the silver door.
"They took Laken!" Liz sobbed. "They're gone!"
Kane felt his heart drop into his stomach. There was only one thing Liz could have meant by that, only one they she could have been talking about. The relief he would always feel when one of the more sadistic hunters never came back, his gratitude that vampire hunting was such a dangerous job, come back twisted and cruel. The kindest hunter he'd ever met had been taken.
He imagined Laken, always sweet and friendly, Laken who fed him with their own blood as his birthday present, alone and scared and in pain. Shipped off to the blood farms, or kept as someone's personal blood source, their mind stolen from them over and over until persuasion erased their warm, loving personality entirely.
Tears sprung to his eyes at the thought. He couldn't breathe all of a sudden, Liz's sobs perfectly encapsulating his own roaring despair. His head fell into his hands as he cried along with her, sitting on the bottom step. Laken was gone, and there was nothing he could do about it.
Wasn't there?
Kane picked his tear-streaked face up as the gears started to turn. He stood and knocked on the wall, unable to touch the door itself. "Hello?"
"Kane, man, just- not right now, okay? Go back to bed," Jim called, voice choked up.
A direct order. Jim hardly ever gave those. Kane scurried obediently back to bed, listening to the humans cry.
It was only a few minutes before he got back up. He was defying orders, now. He hadn't defied orders in years, hadn't ever defied one of Jim's, not since coming here. His legs felt like gel, his hands shaking at the prospect. But he had to.
He knocked on the wall again. "Jim?" he asked, wincing preemptively.
The door flew open, revealing Liz: bleeding from a wound on her jaw, her eyes red and puffy from crying, glaring down at him with unrepentant disdain. Stakes and nasty silver weapons still hung from her belt.
"What? What could you possibly want?" she snapped, her voice breaking.
Kane took a few steps back, heart pounding as he stared at her weapons. He'd disobeyed, and now the hunter was angry with him. He knew all-too-well that hunters always got more sadistic after they'd lost one of their own to his kind.
"I- I'm sorry, never mind," he backtracked, cowering away from her.
Jim peered over from behind his sister, wiping his face. "Lizzie-"
Liz paid him no mind, stomping down the stairs. "What? What is so important right now?" she demanded through tears.
Kane felt sick with panic, his safe haven suddenly horribly unsafe. He'd been doing so well, and now it would all be over, pain introduced back into his life. He bumped back against the wall, no more space for him to put between himself and the hunter.
"No, no, please!" he begged, holding his hands up defensively. "I'm sorry! I'll stop, please don't hurt me!"
"Liz?" Jim came down after her, arms wrapped around himself, looking haunted.
She kept her attention squarely on Kane. "No. I want to know. What?"
He should just make something up, he really should.
But Laken.
"I had an idea." He drew out each word as if to stall, his voice barely above a whisper.
Liz's voice came deadpan, devoid of anything besides resentment. "An idea."
Kane couldn't bear to look at her. He looked past, at Jim. Jim who had never hurt him, who had assured him over and over again that he was safe here. "I could- if you allow it, I could go over and try to bring Laken back?" he squeaked.
Liz pounded her fist against the wall next to him, making Kane yelp and duck for cover. Jim winced at the sound.
"Are you fucking serious!?" she shouted, her features contorted with fury. "Now? You're using this to try and escape, now of all times? What, so you can go join the party and take a human too?"
He cowered on the floor, breaths coming quick, like he couldn't get enough air. He knew this would be a mistake. "N-no, that's not what I meant! I'm sorry!"
Jim approached slowly, stepping past his sister despite his apparent fear. "Kane, you can get up. It's okay," he said softly, eyes distant.
"It's not okay! Nothing is fucking okay!" Liz screamed. She kicked the desk hard, and both men flinched. She sobbed and kicked it again, shaking.
Jim uncurled his arms from himself. "Kane. Look at me."
Another direct order. Kane looked up.
He had never seen Jim so serious. "Do you really mean it?"
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have brought it up, I really didn't mean anything bad by it, I'll-"
"Did you mean it?" Jim repeated. "You could get them back?"
Kane knew he should be begging for mercy right now. The last thing he should do was double down. But... it was Jim. Jim was safe.
"I don't know," he admitted. "I would need more information." He glanced briefly at Liz, still sobbing brokenly, before looking back to Jim. "I'd need at least a description of who took them. I'm sorry. Please- I was just trying to help." He wrung his hands anxiously. "I care about Laken, too."
Jim stared at him long and hard. "I've really tried to help you, you know that, right? Make life here not suck."
"I know." It was the one constant in Kane's new life. Even when he got scared and panicked, he knew Jim would make it better, help him calm down. "I would do anything to make it up to you. If you let me go- I would try my best to find them, and I'd come back either way. I'd go back down in the basement and you could still keep me here. I don't mind. I like it here. Please, I swear I'll come back." He stood up. "Please let me help."
Liz was paying attention again, but the fury had faded. "What's in it for you?"
"I just want to help." Kane had nothing more than that. He had no way to prove himself. All he had was his word, and given what he'd done, his hopes that they would believe it were slim.
The Liebermans shared a glance.
"I think he really means it," Jim offered.
Kane couldn't believe this was happening. Jim actually believed him.
Liz sighed wearily. "It was two of 'em. They were wearing the same clothes, like a uniform."
"Blood farms," Kane realized. That was good- it would be a lot easier to get them from one of those than someone's house, and there would be a lot fewer places to check. "I mean- a blood processing facility. I can find them. There's only so many of them nearby."
That broke her. For once, Liz looked at him with something other than poorly disguised hatred or the bare minimum of tolerance- she looked hopeful. "Please bring them back to me. I can't lose them," she pleaded.
It was surreal. A hunter had never begged him for anything before.
"I will," he promised. "Jim, could I borrow a suit?"
-
Kane was ready. Jim only had one suit, and it didn't fit him quite right: Jim was a few inches taller than him, and while Kane had made a lot of progress in the past five months, he still hadn't completely recovered from his years of starvation. But it would have to do. He looked more like his old self than he ever had, now.
He stepped into the front doorframe. He was outside, at night, fully fed and able to run. He'd never thought this would happen again.
"I'll see you soon. With Laken," he promised, determined. He put his hand forward.
Jim nodded. "Alright. You just- yeah." He shook Kane's hand, like they were making a deal, one Kane would be sure to honor. "Stay safe out there."
"I radioed base and let them know what's going on, so you shouldn't run into trouble with any hunters as long as you stay in our district on the way to the border," Liz added. "Straight shot."
The thought that every hunter in a 100-mile radius knew where he was and what he was doing was horrifying, but this meant he had permission. This was safer, he told himself. "Thank you."
And with that, he ran off into the night.
Kane hadn't run like this in years, hadn't even been physically able to until recently. There were no chains binding his ankles, not the hunters' cruel burning ones or Jim's soft padded ones. There was no weight of starvation sucking the muscle out of his body and the energy out of his stride. He ran faster and faster, and he would have laughed gleefully into the cool October air if he weren't so worried about Laken. Even the fact of being free brought fear- Jim wasn't here to protect him if something happened.
Despite his nerves, he crossed into vampire territory without issue. Like it was easy. Like it wasn't something that had been an unattainable fantasy just months ago.
It was only about two hours before he made his way to civilization. He slowed as he got to town, got to people- it was the middle of the night, and the streets were full of vampires, like him. He didn't have to hide. He didn't have to be afraid. He stopped for a few minutes and just watched, mesmerized. He hadn't seen more than Jim, Liz, and Laken since Jim rescued him, hadn't seen another vampire in so long-
"Doesn't that guy look like Kane de Sang?" a woman whispered to her friend, a hand shielding her mouth like that would prevent her from being heard.
"Stop reading tabloids. He's dead," her friend reminded her with a roll of her eyes.
Right. Father was a very public figure, his death must have made the news. He couldn't deal with this right now. He had to find Laken.
Kane hustled away. He almost went into a store to buy a map, before he remembered that he had no money. It was a strange feeling, not having any money, one he'd never experienced before. Technically he hadn't had any money since his capture, but he hadn't been in a position to buy anything either, so it hadn't come up. But now, he really could use some.
His bank accounts would be closed, of course. Not only did he have no money, he had no ID. He felt like one of those older vampires who complained that everything required paperwork these days, like Father.
That was one way he could solve things, he supposed. He could go home to Father. The thought of confronting him with the fact that he'd been held captive by humans all this time was unbelievably unappealing, but he would of course do it if that would help him save Laken. Though, his father would surely put a stop to any plans for him to take a human from the blood farms, no matter what excuse he used, naming it an embarrassment to the family. Nobles were supposed to catch their own prey, demonstrate their superiority.
But those women had mentioned a tabloid. That would mean his face was known, wouldn't it?
Kane ran a hand over his cheek, hardly even sunken anymore.
He was Kane de Sang. He just had to act like it.
-
It took him a while to find the closest blood farm, the one most likely to have Laken, but he found himself there eventually. He strutted in like he owned the place. Confident and assured, everything he used to be and wasn't anymore.
The blood processing facility was not a customer service establishment, and there was no obvious place to go to find someone to talk to. He approached a man carrying buckets of human food, foul-smelling as always. Cereal, he was able to recognize one as, after months of sitting with Jim as he ate his meals. The other contained some sort of organ meat he couldn't place, aside from the fact that it thankfully didn't smell human. Jim didn't eat meat anymore, said he'd stopped sometime after his escape.
"Excuse me, I need to speak to a manager?" His first words to another vampire in years.
The man eyed him up and down. "Yeah, place is too spread out for you business-types. They really should put some signs up. Follow me."
"Thank you." He definitely wasn't acting like his old self. The old Kane de Sang wasn't polite to commoners. But after years of having politeness drilled into him, it was hard to stop, and he saw no reason to.
The man took him to an office, Kane thanked him again, and it was over. He wanted to take the man's hands and weep, tell him how he was the first vampire he'd spoken to in years upon years, but he couldn't do that. He just watched him walk away to deliver the food to captive humans.
Right. Captive. Everyone in this place was keeping defenseless humans captive. They'd likely taken Laken, and even if they hadn't and Laken was at a different facility, they'd taken so many more.
He knocked on the office door twice before pushing it open. A normal office, an environment Kane was more familiar with.
"Hm?" An older man, clearly a manager, looked up from his desk.
"Ah, yes, I'd been told you're the manager? Kane de Sang," he introduced himself.
The manager raised an eyebrow. "Like the dead noble?"
"Like the living noble," Kane corrected. "I've been living off the grid, as they say."
The manager squinted at him, shock slowly dawning on his face. Perfect: he was recognizable enough to be believed. He wouldn't have to involve Father.
"I see. And what can I do for you, Mr. de Sang?"
"I believe a couple of your employees accidentally snatched up my escaped human." It was a lie that would have been completely unbelievable for anyone else except for him, given his lack of persuasion. "It wouldn't be hard to find mine, one with blue hair, just brought in earlier tonight?" It was possible that Laken could be at a different facility, but this one was so close to where they'd been captured that Kane was almost certain it was this one.
"I'm afraid I can't help you, Mr. de Sang," the manager said. "All of our humans are sourced directly from human territory. If you lost track of your human so much that it was willing to make it back there... well, a human belongs to whoever's taken it over the border."
There was no way a commoner would speak like that to any other noble besides him. The old anger rose up in him, like being back in vampire territory had allowed his old self to come crawling out of where Kane had buried him. He almost went to push away the bubbling rage, but...
He didn't need to anymore. He wasn't in danger. He was in vampire territory, and this man was keeping Laken away from him. Keeping Laken captive, hurt and scared-
Kane slammed his hand on the desk. "You will return my human at once!" he shouted.
He winced at his own outburst, visions of punishments flashing through his mind, eyes wild with fury and terror. Still, he did not stop. "Or I will do everything in my power to ruin you, through means legal or otherwise. I am not leaving without my human."
The manager seemed to mull over the idea before deciding that dealing with Kane was far more irritating than losing one human. He sighed, standing up. "Very well. Follow me."
Kane pulled his hand back, trembling. He should be punished for that. The hunters would have a field day with him if they knew how he'd acted out. Though, he doubted they'd care that he was disrespectful toward a fellow vampire.
"Yes, sir," he said on instinct.
The manager didn't seem to take it as unordinary, nodding and leading him to where the humans were stored. Kane followed along, bewildered it'd been that easy. They passed hundreds and hundreds of humans with dazed eyes and gone minds, packed into livestock pens. He was just glad they were too far-gone from persuasion exposure to feel anything at all.
Past that were closed rooms. Kane could hear someone shouting expletives behind one of the doors, like he had when he'd first been captured, and someone crying behind another, like him in all the years after. But he couldn't do anything about that: he had to focus on Laken.
"We keep the new captures in isolation," the manager explained, briefly peeking through small peepholes in the doors.
Kane remembered how Jim was when he first brought him home, a defiant teenager who hadn't yet learned fear. "That makes sense."
At last, the manager stopped in front of one of the doors, satisfied with what he'd seen through the peephole. "Blue hair, brand-new capture. This one was reported as a hunter, though, so probably not yours. I can-"
Kane practically leapt at the doorknob. "No, this one's mine! This is my human, you must be mistaken! Open the door!"
The manager sighed again, but obliged, unlocking it.
And there they were.
Laken sat huddled in the corner inside, just like Kane had been in his cell, stripped of their hunting tools. They were in bad shape: it was obvious they'd put up a fight before being taken. Their shirt was torn in a huge gash at the side, blood staining the edges, though Kane could smell that they weren't bleeding anymore. They clutched their arm to their chest defensively, like it was hurt, and looked up at him with fear in their eyes.
But he couldn't comfort them yet. "This is my human," he insisted.
"Kane?" Laken asked, voice drenched in fear and betrayal.
It broke his heart to see Laken so terrified. Of him, at that. They either didn't realize what his plan was, or... didn't think him morally capable of coming to their rescue, after everything they must have heard from Jim about what he'd been like in vampire territory.
"Huh. I guess this is your human. Up you get, then." The manager waved them over.
Laken slid up the wall and shuffled over, shaking.
Kane scooped them into his arms, careful to avoid aggravating their injuries. Laken was bigger than him, but far weaker, he realized. He was strong now. He'd been strong for a long time, ever since Jim started feeding him. He just felt so consistently vulnerable that it hadn't really sunk in until now.
Laken didn't resist, the fact of their helplessness equally obvious to them.
"Thank you," Kane told the manager, curt. He turned and hasted toward the exit, relieved it had gone so smoothly.
As soon as they got out, he opened his mouth to start explaining, but Laken beat him to it.
"Kane? Buddy?" Their voice was too strained to sound natural as they peered up at him with nervous eyes. "We're friends, right? Remember when we did your birthday together? Listen, if it's my blood, you can have some! That's fine! I just-"
Kane hugged them close. "I'm here to rescue you," he choked out, trying not to cry. "It's okay. You're safe now."
He felt Laken untense all at once. "Oh, thank fucking god. I totally thought..." They laughed giddily, wiping their tears away with their good arm, but more came anyway. "Dude, you're a lifesaver. Like, literally."
"I'm- I'm trying to be good. I want to be better." Not just well-behaved. Good.
"Well, you're being pretty damn good to me right now." Laken reclined in his arms. "Hey, how fast can you get going? Those assholes who took me were pretty fast, and they didn't even seem like they were trying all that hard. What's, like, the fastest you can get?"
Kane burst into a grin. "You want to find out?"
-
He could tell it wasn't as fast as he'd ever gone. Kane was still in the process of recovering all the muscle he'd lost during his captivity, and though his speed was still at least forty miles per hour if he had to guess, it wasn't top-level for a vampire. Still, Laken seemed impressed, so he took it as a win.
Liz was waiting on Jim's porch, Jim just inside, talking to her through the window. As soon as he set Laken down, they ran at Liz, but not as fast as she ran at them. They met in the middle with such force that Laken cried out in pain, but neither stopped, wrapping each other in a tight embrace.
"I thought you were gone!" Liz wept. "You were gone, they took you!"
Laken laughed, alight with joy. "Can't get rid of me that easy."
Jim opened the front door, and almost took a step out onto the porch, but hesitated, obviously frightened by the night's events.
Kane scampered up to him. "I came back. Just like I said," he reported, grinning.
"You really did. Huh." Jim stared at him like he'd never seen him before.
"And- and now you know. You know I'd always come back. And if anyone ever tried to take you, I'd bring you back, too. Just like how I saved Laken." Quieter, he added, "Just like how you saved me."
Jim smiled at that, finally finding the courage to step onto the porch. He nudged Kane's shoulder. "Right back at you."
Kane beamed. Jim had promised him he was safe from the hunters over and over, but it felt different this time. Not an attempted comfort during an episode of panic, but mutually-assured protection. There was something to it that felt stronger, more real. A bond.
"I'm gonna take Laken to the hospital!" Liz called back. "And hey, Kane? Thank you."
A thank-you from Liz was almost as precious as the fact that she was trusting him unrestrained, alone with Jim, at night. She still wore her hunting gear, but she felt less scary for once.
He nodded back at her. "Any time."
"See you guys!" Laken gave them finger-guns, punctuated with an "Ow," when they moved their injured arm wrong.
Liz laughed and helped them into her truck, leaving him alone with Jim.
"I'll go back in the basement," Kane promised. "Just like before. Nothing has to change."
Jim blinked with disbelief. "Are you kidding me? Kane, I'm not gonna keep you locked up anymore. I'm not saying I'd never be scared around you again, but... you're not a prisoner anymore."
Kane should feel happy about that, shouldn't he? That's what he'd wanted for so long, trapped in his cell back with the hunters.
Why did it make his stomach turn with dread?
"Um, I don't-"
"I mean, there's not enough time left before sunrise for you to get home tonight, especially if you wanna pack first. But you're not trapped in my basement anymore. You're free to go, man. You can head back home tomorrow night if you want."
Kane shuffled his feet awkwardly. "What if I... don't want?"
"Don't... want? You don't want to be free?" Jim asked, baffled.
Tears sprung to Kane's eyes. This was his home, the only home he'd known in years. "I don't want to leave," he whispered.
Jim exhaled a long breath, the smile dropping from his face. He was silent for a moment before taking Kane's hand. "Okay."
"Okay?" he sniffled, fingers curling around Jim's.
"Okay, you can stay. Long as you keep your promise and protect me. Plus you gotta get your own blood now. And I guess-" Jim chuckled, shaking his head. "I guess we can figure it out as we go."
"I can still wear the chains," Kane offered. "So you feel safe."
"Man, fuck the chains." Jim led him inside, kicking the door closed behind him.
Kane went back down to his basement, tucking himself into bed. As the sun crested over the horizon, he fell asleep behind an unlocked, open door.

Loving you was a loosing game...
Angst collab with @saelique ༊࿐
A/n:Hey lovesss!! This is my work for Cinna's angst collab with Reo Mikage<33 i hope you all enjoy and go check out her collab💜
Genre:angst/no comfort Pairing:Reo Mikage Type:one shot
Loading...
Did you know what you were getting yourself into when you started dating Reo? Yes. Or at least that's what you thought. You knew about your boyfriend's love towards his best friend amd you didn't really mind it, well you didn't.
Him and Nagi were spending way much more time together, since they got interested in football. You again don't mind it that much, after all he is your boyfriend and you want him to be happy. But at the same time-it wasn't fair. You knew Reo longer than Nagi did and he most of time was somehow ignoring you. He didn't do it on purpose, right? No. He wouldn't do that.
Now you were sitting in class thinking about that, while Reo and Nagi were a seat ahead of you. Of course Nagi was sleeping. Your thoughts were interrupted by the bell ringing. You packed your things and started walking through the door. You thought about waiting for Reo, but he was already busy trying to wake up Nagi from his hibernation.
Days has been awfully quiet. Still pushing though aside you decided to meet with your boyfriend so things could get back to how they were. You texted him quickly to meet up tomorrow since it was a friday evening. He replied faster than usual and agreed. You smiled and put your phone away. Well, time for getting homework done for tomorrow.
Tumblr media
You're getting ready for the "date", well at least sort of a date. But it didn't matter it was finally time for you hang out with your boyfriend. You came to the location, patiently waiting for Reo. Waiting.. waiting..ughhhhh.... Okay, okay, calm down.. training might just hold him up right? Just wait a bit longer and check out your phon- ... Nagi, Nagi, Nagi.. enough. You went straight home after his not even bothering to text Reo. He didn't text you either so it's gonna be that way.
Instead of saying something you started being cold to him, not giving him the same attention. Did he noticed that? You can't really tell which explains a lot, but still. You loved Reo and you thought he loved you too, but seems like his best friend was more important. You couldn't continue lying yourself so you decided thar it's time.
Talk to him? How? When there is not time hm? Football, Nagi, Football, Nagi. In that moment your parents bursted into the room. Your father got a different job in another city so you're moving out of here. Well just perfect.
The next day you remembered your boyfriend had a training so you decided to go and wait for him 'till he finishes it and talk to him. On your way there though you saw no other than Nagi himself who was being late because he slept in. As you approached him an idea popped in your mind. You took out a pen and a paper and after writing on it you gave it to Nagi asking him to give it to Reo. He agreed and went to his training.
Tumblr media
There you are now. Sitting on your desk completely ignoring the topic the teacher is talking about. There is no one that you know in the desk in front you... You have blocked Reo's and number and all of his social medias, so you didn't know if he got the paper, but if he didn't he probably figured out what happened.
When break came you were on your phone, when you suddenly saw an article. "Blue lock project" amd there they were their names.
...
-Nagi Seishiro
-Reo Mikage
...
You smiled to yourself when you saw his name. Well at least now he have got the two things he loved the most in his live.

Go home, Hobie Brown pt. 2
Hobie Brown x reader
Part 1:
Notes: Alt and aro ace reader (although that’s less relevant here), fluff-ish, reader remains GN but might have a writing bias towards fem, Hobie does some illegal shit, Hobie and reader are adults, use of (y/n), no phonetic spelling of Hobie’s accent, brit written by a European sue me, he’s probably a bit OOC in this one,
“Why does reader work at a factory and not, say, a pub? That’s a little weird isn’t it?” it’s bc I work at a factory and this is once again ✨wish fulfillment✨
So this initially was something else, but I realized that it was similar in structure to my previous work and that if I reworked it a little bit, it would be a nice addition to that. Is this a series now? I fucking hope not, I have a bad track record finishing those. Loosely connected two shot for now. I might come back tonight to tweak some stuff, but I think it is in a readable state lol
Pls dont repost anywhere thx ✨️

You tried your best to ignore him. An half hearted attempt to deprive him of the reaction he wanted while you continued to flatten out your stack of cardboard boxes, throwing them into the container next to you. Hobie was standing right in front of you, not having said anything to you since he arrived. He stood far enough away from you for it to appear casual and incidental, but close enough for him to still tower over you.
Finally, his patience caved. “…hey,” he said.
“Hey, Hobie,” your tone was cool. You didn't feel as embarrassed now that there were no people around, right outside of the small factory you worked at.
“What are you doing?”
You peered up at him with a smirk on your face. “I need to throw out these boxes. You know, for my job? My job that I have at this factory that we’re currently at. That you jumped a fence over to get to just now.” You gestured towards the fence right in front of you.
“Ey no way,” Hobie laughed as if he hadn't known all along. “You think they got cameras?”
You shrugged, all the while continuing your work. “We have a front door. You could’ve just talked to the lady at the front desk. She might have let you through, you know?”
“Nah, didn't like the look of her.”
"She probably wouldn't have liked the look of you either to be fair," you laughed. Technically, she'd be right, Hobie was trespassing. But she was a sour tart anyways, so you understood Hobie’s comment.
"What's wrong with those boxes anyways?" He pointed. "They look brand new."
You had noticed that he had been antsy about that. He probably didn't like you throwing out boxes that were still more than usable. It wasn’t something you agreed with either, but it wasn’t up to you.
"Dunno." You answered. "I don't think theres anything wrong with them perse. They probably prepared more than they needed."
"That's IT?! What a bloody waste," He gave the container a kick after his outburst. "Why are you contributing to this,"
"Boss's orders" you gave him a cheeky salute.
"I'm disappointed in you," You choked back a laugh.
"I knew you would be. I'm part of the machine, Hobart," You stuck out your hands and did a mock robot walk. “they’re coming to get you, Hobart-”
Hobie pushed your arms back to your sides. His hands lingered there longer than your heart could handle "That stupid uniform too... They're stripping you of all the important bits."
"Well.” You said, hoping to go back to a lighter tone. “If you know of an anarchist version of this part-time job where I can come and go when I want, where I barely have to speak to people and where I make this much money, doing the workload equivalent of Homer Simpsons job, then let me know." It was true, this was the easiest part time you've ever had. "If you look at it like that, I'm practically stealing from the boss, don't you think?"
"I know of a job like that." He said, playing along. "It's called 'dating me'. heard It's got real good benefits too. "
"Ohhh does that include the part that I dont have to talk to my boss?" Hobie’s big dumb smirk dropped to an amused smile.
"No, I'd prefer if you kept doing that to be honest."
You couldn't hold it in and you awkwardly laughed alongside him.
"Can I have them?" He asked out of the blue.
"Pardon?"
"The boxes.”
"What do you need cardboard boxes for?" You put the box you had picked up back on the pile. "Don't become a hoarder, Hobie, I'll stop visiting you guys."
"Not me," he picked up one of the boxes to inspect. "For Gwendy. These are the exact size she uses to ship her clothes in when she sells them online."
You looked at him with narrowed eyes. If he took the few remaining boxes, you could finish up and go back inside, which was tempting.
Before you could answer him, the door to the building opened.
"Hey (y/n)," your manager said. "I came to check on you. Who's this..?" She frowned at Hobie, who was obviously not supposed to be there. Hobie looked troubled, even though he liked testing the boundaries he didn't want to get you fired over something like this. Which is honestly something he should have thought of before coming over, but what can you do.
"Actually," you said in the most somber tone you could muster. You placed your hand on Hobie’s arm in a comforting gesture. "Hobie just told me his grandma passed away this morning." You felt him stiffen up, his emotions shifting from confused to amused to acting out sadness in a split second.
Hobie, of course, didn't have a grandma in his life.
"Oh..." your manager said, you knew how empathetic she was. "I'm so sorry to hear that."
“I’m sorry ma’m.. I know I’m not supposed to be here, but,“ He let out a very fake sob and you suppressed the desire to roll your eyes. “I just know how close (y/n) was to my nan... I’ll be going now...“
Before he went though, he turned around and grabbed an entire armful of cardboard boxes. Leaving your manager stunned. Hobie walked towards the fence gate.
“You perhaps got a key for this gate? Ah, you do? Thank you I’ll be leaving now, Cheers.“
Your manager looked at you when he left. “Ah well. Nan would have hated for those boxes to go to waste.”

Alright wow, I'm being so productive with fics at the moment this is kind of crazy.
I hope he isn't TOO out of character? I think it's really hard to get his speech pattern right. And then I don't just mean his accent, but how that interacts with his cheeky and confident way of talking. But my biggest pet peeves in fics of his at the moment are a) phonetic spelling of his accent and b) people who write fake and cringey British slang. (He doesn't constantly speak in cockney rhyme in the movie ppl lol) Bonus point if both are true, haha... I've lived in England, but honestly, getting it right is difficult, and I still feel like I'm having him say american phrases 😭

It was three days ago. You know to the hour. Three days ago your powers, your finger glow, just stopped. Not sputtering, not weak, not temperamental, it's just gone.
You noticed when trying to use your magic for something small, you were too focused on the fact that your magic wasn't working to remember what you even wanted to do to begin with, and you thought that maybe it was just your magic deciding to be picky. So you tried it again on a different task, but the results were the same.
To say you were confused and upset was an understatement. You were feeling so many things and none of them were good feelings. As time went on, you became increasingly frustrated because you never realized just how much you relied on your magic.
You tried hiding not only your lack of magic use but also how you were feeling about the situation. And even though you were a teacher for The School of Good, your students didn't catch on. There were some questioning looks about your slight shift but none of them really cared too much to ask. You were able to hide it well enough from Dovey and Anemone, seeing as you really only saw them during meal times and you didn't need to use your magic during that.
However, the Dean of Evil wasn't convinced everything was fine. You knew she could tell that something was off, but didn't know what exactly it was. She's very observant so it wasn't all that surprising, and she's your girlfriend so of course she'll immediately catch on to the different moods that settled within you.
In your defense, you wanted to tell her, to see if maybe there was something she could do, but your worries told you it wasn't a good idea. What if she'd find you pathetic? What if she doesn't want to be with someone without magic? What if she finds you weak and no longer good enough to be with her? And those are the reasons you've kept a bit of distance.
And caught on she did. Lesso was mentally tracking the different occurrences of your mood shifts, just waiting to see if there was something specifically causing it or if you were just having a moody day. But once that 'moody day' was on day three, she knew something was wrong.
And that's what led you here. Lesso called you into her office. Of course, you knew the reason, you aren't thick. But maybe, just maybe, if you played dumb you could get away with not telling her.
Her arms were crossed over her chest and she was leaning against her desk in front of you.
You were twiddling your thumbs as both of you remained silent, waiting to see who'd break first. Lesso knew you'd be stubborn about this, but she wouldn't admit she finds it cute.
You pursed your lips when you saw her eyebrow raise and you knew she was beginning to lose her patience.
"Okay, out with it. What's going on?" She lowered her gaze in an attempt to pry it out of you.
And if you know anything from being with Lesso, the things she taught you, you'd never break that easy. And you both were well aware of that.
"I don't think I know what you mean." You remained nonchalant, not letting on to your frustrations with the situation.
"Baby, come on. I know something going on, or else you wouldn't be avoiding me." Damn her pet names for you.
Your facade faltered for a moment, briefly showing your panic, and Lesso saw it. She knew there was something wrong.
It was already hard enough to keep it from her, but seeing and hearing her concern was making it increasingly difficult.
She reached out for your hands in an attempt for comfort before you flinched away, you weren't sure why. This really confused Lesso.
But you couldn't hide it anymore.
You abruptly stood from the chair and immediately started pacing the room, the beginning of your tears weren't noticed by you.
"Leo, I don't know what to do! I-I've tried everything!"
She didn't want to admit it, but this whole situation and how you were acting, was really concerning her. But she didn't want you to know that, it may upset you further.
Lesso stood up, now facing you, "What? What happened, love?"
"I lost my magic! Leo... It's gone." A strangled sob came from you, finally letting out your annoyance.
"Wha- I'm sure that's not true." You stopped pacing and faced her, you knew she wasn't accusing you of lying but that she simply couldn't believe it.
You didn't look away from her eyes as you moved your hand to attempt to light her fireplace, nothing happening.
Then you walked over to her couch and to her constantly unorganized stack of books, the very one that she knows annoys the hell out of you and waved your hand over it. Nothing happened.
You turned back to her desk, your last move was an attempt to grade the sheets of paper that were askew on it. But nothing.
"Leo, I have no magic. It's gone. Nothing, not even a little bit." She could hear the annoyance in your voice, but she also heard the fear you were trying to conceal.
Your pacing picked up again, and you started rubbing your temples as the thoughts started racing and the tears started flowing again.
"I mean, you're the most powerful person I know!" You glanced at her with worry laced in your features. "What if I'm not good enough for you? Or- or what if you don't want to be with me anymore? I can't do anything anymore, I'm not good en-"
She grabbed your wrists to stop your pacing.
"Absolutely not. Y/n, no. That's my girlfriend you're talking bad about, and I won't let that slide," She tried to lighten the mood. "But don't think like that. Your abilities are not why I'm with you. I don't care if you have magic or not."
You looked at her with the tears streaming down your face, your mind was feeding itself with lies again, "You don't?"
She reached out and started drying your tear-stained face, "Of course not. I'm with you, because you're amazing,"
"But, I'm no-"
A playful smirk came to her face, "Evers and their need to be perfect at everything. To me," She pulled you closer to her body. "You are perfect as is."
"Besides, now you just have to come to me for help anyways." She loved when you came to her for anything, but especially when you needed help. You never asked anyone else for help.
Well, in all honestly, you never needed help. You just loved seeing how Lesso would light up every time you came to her for something.
"I don't know what to do." You planted your head into the crook of her neck, a sigh being emitted from you when she started rubbing your back.
"I'm not sure what we can do. How long has it been like this?"
"Three days..." You whispered.
"Thr- love, why didn't you tell me sooner?"
You felt a little ashamed for not coming to her sooner, "I don't know, I was kind of hoping it would've come back before you could even notice it was gone."
"Well, if waiting it out won't work then to the library we go." She gave no room for your response, instantly grabbing your hand and pulling you out of her office.
Once in the library, both of you began searching in any magic-related book for any possible solution. You thought your attempts were in vain, with nothing coming up that could at least provide information on why it happened.
Until Lesso found something.
The book summarized that although rare, it's possible to lose magical gifts. Some instances last a few days while others are more... long-term.
As Lesso read that you may have permanently lost your abilities, your worries returned but are now worse. Before you could spiral further, Lesso pulled you flush against her again.
"Love, hey, it says that permanent loss is the rarest case. We probably just have to wait a few more days. And in that time, we can do more research. Maybe even look to outside resources," She briefly scratched her nails on your scalp. "I fully believe they'll come back. We just need to be patient."
"But, I don't want to be patient! You have no idea how annoying it is to not have magic after experiencing the luxury of magic." You grumbled into her shoulder.
Lesso stifled a laugh, "Maybe not, but at least you're not doing this alone." She placed both of her hands around your head and positioned you to look at her, keeping her eyes locked on yours so you can see the sincerity of her words.
Of course, you knew she was being entirely sincere and honest, that's your Leo for you. No matter what you were experiencing, you knew you wouldn't be alone in it. Even if she had no idea what you were feeling, she would always try to make you feel better.
And she always did. There was just something about her that always made things better.
And something inside you told you that this would be no different.
"Thank you, Leo. I don't know what I'd do without you."
She smirked, "Oh, probably perish. Or-" You cut her off with a playful smack to her shoulder, lightly rolling your eyes.
You wouldn't tell her that she was probably right and definitely adorable.
"Okay, okay. You're welcome, my dove."
You bit back your smile and just pecked her lips again, moving to hide your face in her neck. There was no real reason for that besides the immense amount of comfort she brings you.
"But really, how long do you think it'll be gone?" Lesso let out a loud laugh at your question.
"I'm not sure, love. But you know dwelling on the fact you don't have it will make it seem longer."
"I know." You were well aware that you were pouting, but you didn't care.
~~~~~~~~~~~
It had been four more days. One week. One total week since you became magic-less. To your credit, you still tried to use your powers up until today. Just hoping that they'd come back by chance.
But they hadn't.
You spent most of today sulking, your hope becoming almost entirely diminished. And on top of that, you didn't feel good. Well, it's not like you felt sick, you felt strange. You couldn't get comfortable, no matter what you did. It was annoying and there was no way to describe it.
You just wanted to curl up next to Lesso on her couch and have her read to you while you watch the flames dance in her fireplace.
And that's what you've been doing for the last 20 minutes. Trying to get comfortable. You succumbed to your discomfort and gave in to thinking about your Leo. Your classes were done for the day so you had free time, but you knew that Lesso still had the things she needed to work on and wouldn't be done for another hour-ish.
But there was suddenly a shift, you felt even more weird than before, then something changed. You weren't in your classroom thinking about Leo anymore, now you were in her office.
She hadn't even looked up from her paper, your presence going unnoticed. You must've come in silently. But how the hell did you get in?
"What the fuck?" You were beyond confused, looking around and at yourself. You were entirely intact still.
You teleported. You teleported? You were never able to do that before.
Lesso startled in her chair, but she hid her reaction, not hearing you enter, "How did you get in here? My office was locked? I didn't hear you?"
Both of you looked at each other in disbelief at your sudden emergence.
"I- I don't know. One moment I was thinking of you, and the next I'm here."
She smirked, "You were thinking of me?"
You gave her a pointed glare, "I'm choosing to not focus on that right now."
"Right, right, right... so what did you do?"
"Nothing! I was just thinking!"
"And you were suddenly here?"
You shrugged, "Well, I mean I've felt strange all day but it felt even more intense just before I arrive here."
"Interesting. Have you tried your magic at all today?"
You lightly bit your bottom lip, "Uh, no."
"You were fully convinced you had lost your magic weren't you?" Lesso asked though it wasn't a question but a statement because she knew you all too well.
"Yes..."
"Well, what are you waiting for?!" Lesso stood up from her chair and started walking to you, confusion was evident on your face. "Try it out! Do something! Maybe you can do more than you could before!"
You thought about it, she had a point. Especially since you teleported into her office, you must have at least something back.
"Okay," You took this opportunity to reorganize her books, waving your hand in the direction of the stack by her couch.
You smiled in glee as the books replaced themselves on her shelf. A chuckle came from Lesso because, of course, she should've known that would've been the first thing you tried.
"Did you see that?!" You glanced back to Lesso but your excitement took over and your eyes didn't linger long enough to her her own excitement.
You decided to test her theory, maybe you could do more now. After all, you did get here just by thinking.
Leo watched you as intently as you were looking at her fireplace. You were thinking of nothing but lighting it. Your glare narrowed at the fireplace as you focused on lighting it. Just as you were about to give in and try your hand wave, it lit. It lit by you just thinking about it.
"Oh shit!" Your mouth was dropped open but the words didn't come from you.
Lesso almost couldn't believe it. And she wouldn't have if she hadn't just witnessed it.
"You just- with no- damn!"
Usually, you would've found her response funny if you weren't currently experiencing that exact response.
Just then, an idea popped into your head. You had plenty of time to figure out what all you could do exactly, but this? This you wanted, no need, to find out now.
You wordlessly walked up to Leo, her eyes curiously examining you, "You're not going to set me on fire next, right? I mean that would be totally badass but I'd rather you not."
You just chuckled and grabbed her hands, interlocking your fingers with hers, "No, I'm not going to set you on fire. I just, I have something I want to try?"
She looked between your eyes, both of you getting lost in each others, "Okay, anything."
Your grip on her hands tightened and you stepped closer to her, your eyes closing for a brief moment as you thought about where you wanted to go.
You had that weird feeling again and you opened your eyes, yours instantly locked on hers. And hers were locked on yours until you both looked around at where you now were.
The sudden breeze distracted you.
You were outside, in the gardens.
It worked. It worked? It worked!
"Yes!" You celebrated.
"You can relocate? Like, anywhere you chose? This, this is where you wanted to go right?" Lesso looked back at you.
"Yes! Yes and yes." The smile Lesso gave you made your heart swell.
She wrapped her arms around you and picked you up, instantly spinning you around.
"That's amazing! Dove, your powers are back. And better than before." She planted kisses all over your face, her happiness at your magic being returned matching yours.
"That's my powerful girl." Your cheeks reddened at her words until you got lost in the gleam that was sparkling in her eyes.
"Thank you, Leo. All thanks to you."
She looked at you with confusion, "As much as I'd love the credit for this, Dove, I've had no contribution to this. This was all you."
"Maybe, but you kept me hopeful and you stayed by my side. So, I have every reason to thank you too."
She smiled and leaned down to capture your lips with hers, all words and emotions being portrayed in it.
"But, I am curious to see what all you can do now."
And for at least the rest of the day, you tried seeing what all was different with your magic. Leo stayed by your side and supported you, but also curiously watched. Maybe with a smidge of envy too, she loved that you finally had the magic you deserved but a part of her wanted that too.
The main thing you noticed, besides the teleportation, is everything you could do with the wave of your hand before, you could do with a simple thought.
You knew you were going to have fun discovering all you can do, and with the new ease they have. But hands down the best part was being able to get to Leo as soon as you want, and being able to go anywhere you want, especially with her.
Yeah, you were gonna have fun.
Chapter 7
Spencer reid x male reader x Derek Morgan
Genre: Angst
TW: mentions of mental illness, yelling, cursing, suicide.
A/n- sorry for the long wait guys here is chapter seven I will try to have chapter 8 out way sooner this time!!
———————————————————————————
It's been three days since anyone at work has seen you. No one wanting to overwhelm you. Your presence was missed by everyone who ever worked with you. Everyone knew you would be coming back today. Excitement was filling the full office that had been filled with silence while you were gone. The only noise was the sound of agents bustling about and the sound of pens on paper. Your desk had been empty, but not for long. Penelope had filled it with cards expressing how much she cared for you. Her heart was hurting from the events of the past months. She was angry. You deserved better then what was being given to you.
She had a hard time maintaining her happy personality as she watched you go through everything. She remembers when she found out Spencer cheated on you it was the first time she felt anger towards him. How could someone so smart have such an empty head? How could he possibly think any of this would play in his favor? You were a gem to be treated carefully and he didn't handle you with care. She was angry with Hotch for not telling you Emily was alive.
Deep down she knew it was his job but sometimes there were more important things then protocol. He could have saved you from so much pain. Everything that happened could have been avoided. She knew she would have to come to terms with everything and move on. For now she sat in front of the doors waiting anxiously for you to walk in.
It didn't take to long to see you and Derek strolling in hand in hand. She couldn't help the excitement that flowed out of her as the two of you walked in. She didn't hesitate to wrap her arms around you as well as scolding you for your choices. She noticed the smile that was usually plastered on your face was no longer the same as it was. You hugged her tightly but your brightness has been severely dulled. Looking to Derek for answers, she was met with silence, he would never air your feelings and business out without your permission. She knew he was looking out for you, however, her worry for you only grew.
Her and the others watched as you walked past your desk, Derek knew the happy moment you two shared days earlier would only distract you fer a short period of time. He knew the emotions would swirl back around and he wasn't going to tell you to handle them any other way then how you wanted to.  All he could do was prevent others from adding onto the stress that was already there. His eyes stay trained on you as you walked towards Hotchs office.
You knew a reprimand was in your future and you wanted to get it over with as soon as possible. You weren't angry for getting in trouble you made your own choices and they have consequences. You hated the fact you had no nerves bubbling in your stomach as you stood in front of your boss the feeling of numbness had taken over.
"M/n did you hear me?" His deep voice brought you out of your trance "no sir I'm sorry" you hated the habit you developed of dissociating from your reality that was tearing you apart. " I asked if you had anything to say about your actions" shaking your head in response he continued "well this is your first reprimand so it's a written reprimand on top of the verbal but I would like you to take leave for a few weeks" you unfortunately heard that part.
"What? No I don't need a vacation Hotch I'm good" the tight lip smile he did told you there wasn't a question in his statement "M/n you put yourself and your team in danger because of unresolved issues you have been dealing with the past few months" he was right but you wouldn't admit that " okay and I have been reprimanded for that! You didn't send Rossi on leave when he worked a case by himself or when Elle shot that unsub!" You didn't mean to raise your voice  but you were frustrated other then Derek this was all
you had and you didn't want to lose that to. "I know I didn't and I should have and I refuse to make those same mistakes with you. I will not lose another person I care about by not trusting myself" you heard where he was coming from but once again emotions can cloud judgment "this isn't fair Hotch"
The look in your eyes was the same one he had seen in Elle before she murdered someone. He would not repeat his mistakes " during and after your leave I'm setting up mandatory counseling session that you will attend if you want to keep your position on this team" he knew you would be angry he had expected it. He also knew later down the road you would thank him. He wanted you on the team, but he wanted you at your best and right now you weren't at your best. How could you be? For months life has thrown things at you left and right and you have not had time to process and heal from these events. He didn't feel comfortable sending you back in the field until he thought you were ready.
"When does my leave start?" He could hear the hoarseness in your voice a sign you were holding back tears. By the way your fist were tightened he could tell you weren't sad but angry. "It's effective immediately a minimum of three weeks, after that you are free to return upon receiving clearance from your counselor" he hated you being upset with him but he knew it was what's best for you. So he didn't take it personal when you stormed out of his office without saying another word. He could only hope he was doing the right thing.
Confusion rose in the bau as you stormed past everyone trying to make it to the door. Unfortunately you bumped into Spencer on your way out before he could say anything your words spilled out "just shut the fuck up Spencer and leave me alone" you didn't mean to snap but you were tired "I was just going to apologize for bumping into you" shaking your head "just move out of the way!" He was taken aback by your tone. He had been with you for years to know that you were on the verge of a breaking point.
"M/n are you okay?" Snapping your eyes up at him the coldness behind them scared him "am I okay? No Spencer I'm not okay and god I can't believe you have the nerve to even ask me that!" All you wanted to do was go home "I just noticed you seemed stressed I wanted to help" his words shouldn't have never left his mouth "help? You know what you could do to help? Stay the fuck out of my life Spencer. I hate you. Everything about you makes me sick to my stomach I wish we never met."
Rationality Spencer knew the words you threw at him were untrue, but it still hurt to hear them. He knew he hasn't done anything to deserve your love and respect but words still hurt him. Instead of replying he simply stepped aside as you walked away from him. He knew you needed space but he feared what you were capable of if you were on your own. So instead of following you he went to the only person who could keep you from doing stupid things. "Morgan we need to talk it's important"
Derek couldn't help but raise his eyebrows at Spencer's tone "what is it Reid I'm looking for m/n" mentally he rolled his eyes but that was unimportant at the moment despite things between him and Derek being rocky they could agree on one thing, you shouldn't be alone.
Once stepping into your home all the pent up anger had resurfaced. The anger you had tried to overcome wasn't gone it was only overlooked. You hadn't moved on and that was certainly coming out as the place you now called home began to look more of a mess. Glasses were shattered on walls, plates smashed on the floor, pictures of you and Emily broken, walls now bearing new holes. You hated how upset two people could make you but you knew deep down this was all becoming to much. How do you overcome something like this? All you wanted was to escape. So you did. Putting your phone on the counter you left. Leaving behind anything traceable you walked out the door with no plan of returning any time soon.
It didn't take long for Derek to rush home to check on you after hearing the news of your mandatory leave. He expected you to be upset this was the last thing you wanted. He did agree with Hotch that you needed time to heal properly. He worried for you, you were in a downward spiral and he was trying to pull you out of it. He knew when getting into a relationship with you that you had a lot of healing to do. He didn't get with you only for the good parts he wanted to be with you through the bad parts, be there to pick you up when you were down. He knows you would do the same so he would give you nothing less.
Walking into his home he was surprised to see the state it was in. The broken glass, broken frames, none of it mattered. The only thing that mattered was your phone and belongings sitting on the counter. He knew you left them there and that scared him. You never left home without your wallet, keys or phone. Picking up his own phone he called the team hoping they could find you before you did something they couldn't fix.
The team stood on the other end of the phone each of them holding back tears. Deep down they knew why you left everything but they wouldn't let you get that far. As much anger was held towards him Spencer was one of the people who did in fact know the most about you. Emily followed behind as she had known you forever.  "Morgan I know it's hard but I need you to profile the scene, I'll send Emily to help. We are going to have to treat this as a case nothing else gets touched until we find him" holding back his own tears he agreed to help by profiling everything he knew about you.
Soon Emily arrived at your home, walking in she tried to hold her tears back. Seeing Derek with tears in his eyes she couldn't help but feel guilt as she looked at the broken home "morgan I~" shaking his head he didn't want to hear any of it "don't, just don't I don't want to hear the excuses"
"Morgan I had to go into witness protection for everyone's safety" he had been hearing the excuses since she got back and frankly he had grown tired of it "that's not the problem!" She knew everyone was upset with the situation but she also felt like this shouldn't be held against her as it was what was best for everyone "then what is!" Shaking his head in disbelief it amazed him no one could see the real problem.
"If anyone had the Right to know it was him! Not JJ! Not Hotch! Him! You have known him since you two were kids! Do you know how long he blamed himself for your death?! He never stopped!! He watched you die! He cried with your parents! Then after lost his relationship! So no the problem isn't you leaving it's that none of you understand some things are more important than this fucking Job!"
He was right you should have been the one to know she was alive. " I understand that Morgan but I had to Grieve all of you too" once again his head shook at her "no you knew we were all alive and safe. It's not the same kind of grief. He called your phone everyday to hear your voicemail and leave messages because it felt like talking to you. While he was grieving you he was being cheated on by someone he spent six years with he was just tossed aside. So no Emily it's not even close. You were living in Paris a whole new life while he was stuck picking up the pieces of the old on you left behind"
Before he could continue his yelling and shouting he noticed the broken pictures that laid on the floor. All of them were of you and Emily. None of the other pictures were touched "prentis this about you he is grieving your death. He only recently accepted you were gone it's possible he isn't accepting you're alive." She couldn't deny she was the root of the problem. In a way she blamed herself although she tried to convince herself it was for everyone's safety she knew that was untrue.
She did what she did best in situations where she got to uncomfortable. She would run in avoidance and convince herself it was what was best for everyone but truthfully it was what she thought what was best for her. She knew of you're past, the things you told her she knew the trauma that was hidden from others. She wonders if you ever told Derek or Spencer what you went through as a kid. She wonders if they knew you were battling depression since childhood. Do they know you're on medication? Do they know everything like she did? The answer was probably no.
See the thing about you was you would let your life dangle by a thread while holding someone else's up. You put everyone before yourself and never let anyone in on the emotions swirling within your own mind. You were such a good actor sometimes she forgot herself that you struggled with mental illness. It made herself questions whether or not she was a good friend for leaving you behind.
She stood in your home watching the flashing lights surround it as your lover profiled it. She looked around the room you occupied for majority of your time here. Going through your drawers she didn't realize how quickly she was throwing your things around. She was searching everywhere for a certain thing that she didn't realize the mess she was making. "Emily!" She ignored the calls of her friend as she continued searching. It wasn't until she found the full pill bottle that she let the tears slip.
You stopped taking your medication. Turning around she showed Derek the pill bottle "what is that?" Just as she thought you didn't tell him. She couldn't blame you it was something you weren't proud of. "His antidepressants. He hasn't been taking them" Derek had been confused. He knew you were struggling how could you not be? But why did you need pills for the months he had seen you were doing better. Right?
"Why does he need those I know the past months have been hard but I don't understand" shaking her head she tried to get the words out "M/n has severe clinical depression and ptsd he was diagnosed when he was a kid" Derek was trying to understand he really was he loved you "explain it please" he just wanted to help "he went through a lot as a kid and because of that he struggles with depression it can get really bad Derek" he didn't Like what he Was hearing "how bad Emily?" She didn't want to tell him how bad it could get. That answer was something she wanted to ignore "how bad!?" For once she was genuinely scared of what could happen. "It's bad Derek!" Both of them knew the meaning of her words. Neither of them hesitated to call the rest of the team to inform them on the news.
"Emily where would he go?" Derek didn't mean to sound accusatory but she would be the only one to know "I don't know!" He didn't mean to tell but this was very time sensitive "yes you do! You're supposed to be his best friend where would he go!" She thought back to all of your conversations, the late nights driving around town, the phone calls where you would rant to her, the late drunk nights in college, everytime you said the bridge showed the most beautiful view to sleep to. "He's at the bridge off of 4th street"
It didn't take long before the sound of rubber burning echoed through the streets. The whole team was rushing to you again. Some of them not knowing how dire the situation was. Without knowing the facts they could put pieces together as they could smell the burning of the tires as Hotch drove.
Arriving they quickly searched for you but it didn't take long to see you. You weren't standing on the ledge but sitting. No one questioning as you say there, it wasn't until they showed up people started to clear the bridge away from you. You never turned around to face them as you ignored the calls for you. You heard his voice the only source of peace you had the last few months. Your brain only told you the negatives about your relationship that had barley begun. Was it real or were you just trying to make yourself better.
Standing up you enjoyed the view of the sun setting as you stretched your body out. You could hear the commotion behind you but decided to ignore it. You're eyes focused on the sunset. You're mind went over the traumas you went through as you pictured losing Emily "m/n look at me" the images of spencer hitting you that night "m/n look at me!" The feelings of him cheating on you resurfacing "look at me damnit!" Then there's him. Finally your eyes locked as he stood behind you. Turning your body to face him you could only give him a small smile. You thought back to all of your time spent together "m/n please come down we can talk I can listen we can get through this"
The scene was heartbreaking as they knew the difficulty as you knew every strategy in the book. It felt like life was constantly testing their love for you and it has been at a constant road block to get to you. You couldn't hear any of their words you just listened to their voices as you felt your feet slip from the concrete holding you in place. For the first time you felt completely peaceful and comfortable as your eyes stayed locked on the sky before letting the ice cold water embrace you. The pins and needles numbing you quickly as you closed your eyes letting the water fill your lungs. Years of pain were finally being let go as you finally felt relaxed.
Little Parasite Chp. 3
Your father, Leon's boss and the president of the united states, had called the agent to the White House for a meeting.
Extra warnings: pregnancy mentions, Reader isn't in this chapter but she's mentioned, I try my best at subtle threats, Leon being Leon, brief VERY BRIEF mention of Leon killing himself if he harmed you, petty shots at Leon’s past by the president
Leon’s steps through the hallway were steady and focused. He kept his eyes ahead, trying not to pay attention to the White House staff around him.
He had been called to the Oval Office personally. The president, your father, wanted to speak with him.
He heard the whispers. He’d be deaf not to.
Sleeping with the president's daughter.
Knocked her up.
How long have they been together?
So agent Kennedy is going to be the dad to the big man's grandkid?
Leon nodded to the secret service guarding the door. He waited for one of them to knock and announce his arrival.
“Wait a few minutes.” was his command.
It was a power play. Most likely your fathers way of saying ‘my time is more important.’ The agent knew that the president wasn't doing anything behind those double doors. Probably on his phone. Or reading a useless email.
It was his way of establishing power. Let Leon know that despite his connection to you, he was always on top.
So the agent had to wait. Bide his time. Presidencies only last 4 years. And hopefully, your relationship will last much longer.
Leon wouldn't entertain the possibility of a reelection. He was, in fact, working on being more optimistic.
After a few minutes of staring straight ahead, he was allowed inside the Oval Office.
The sun was hidden by thick curtains. The patterned cream walls were decorated with historic paintings. Several marble busts of leaders past stared straight, lifeless eyes piercing the air. At the very end of the office was the massive wooden desk.
And sitting behind it was your father. The president of the USA. His cold, stern eyes were on him.
His fucking boss.
“Mr.President, sir.” Leon saluted. He had to be an agent. This was the man he worked for. Not his future father-in-law.
“Agent Kennedy.” The president stood, “It’s been a while. After your report, you’ve been on medical leave haven't you?”
Another power play. He’s pretending not to know. Lure Leon into a false sense of security, and make the agent think he wasn’t in the leader's crosshairs. That maybe he had some fucking privacy in this job.
“Yes sir.” He nodded, keeping his answers short. The agent had to give only the required information. Nothing more. Nothing less.
“And how is that?” Your father leaned against the front of the desk, looking to his left. His eyes were down, roaming over some papers, “Going back to the field soon?”
This was another way for him to let Leon know that he didn't care about the man he called to the office.
“Recovery is fine.” Leon answered calmly, “The BSAA medical personnel have informed me I can return to field missions in about 2 weeks.”
He probably knew this already.
“Hm, good.” His future father-in-law nodded, “And my daughter?”
There it is.
“I’m sorry sir, what do you mean?” Leon asked, hoping to grab even a little bit of control. He could perhaps get his boss to say his intentions with this meeting.
“Well, you got her pregnant.” His boss responded rather coldly, “She hasn’t called me to talk about it. She’s spoken to her mother though.”
The agent’s guard was raised. Got you pregnant. The president made it seem like you were an unwilling participant. That Leon forced the baby on you.
He’d rather kill himself than do such a thing.
Leon swallowed, he took a shot, one that could frankly get him in trouble, “My fiancé is fine. So is the baby we both wanted.” His tone was less than respectful. At this point, he didn’t care that this was the president. The man signing his paychecks could be a fucking god, and he wouldn’t care.
It was a subtle ‘fuck you’. It told your father that yes, his favorite attack dog was having sex with his sweet, innocent daughter.
Oh if only he knew how ‘innocent’ you really were.
The president narrowed his stern eyes ever so lightly. He was irritated, but didn’t want Leon to know, “Good. That's good. This will be my first grandchild, you know.” His hand roamed over the file, “It's exciting, though, it's rather unfortunate that the child will have only one set of grandparents.”
Oh fuck you!
Leon swallowed. What was this? Shoving his dead parents in his face? Was this a joke?
Am I being punked? He thought, The president of the United states resorting to middle school insults?
Leon’s life was a fucking joke.
“I’m sure you and your wife will be wonderful grandparents.” The agent had to keep his tone calm and collected. He couldn’t break under his boss’ critical gaze.
The country’s leader nodded slowly, closing the file, “Agent Kennedy, I’m going to be frank and honest with you.”
What? Leon’s eyes widened, honesty? Here? In the White House?
Oh the world must be ending now.
“Sir?” The agent knew he sounded confused. Probably like an idiot. But he wasn’t expecting any form of honesty from the country’s leader.
“You are going to change the second you hold your child,” His future father-in-law said, putting a hand on Leons shoulder, “If you have a son, you would die for him. But if you have a daughter…” He tightened his grip, squeezing the agent's shoulder, “You’ll kill for her.”
Harm my daughter and I will destroy you.
Leon swallowed and nodded, “I understand.”
“You never will. Not until you do.” The president let go and stepped back, returning to his desk, “Now, your health reports have come back all clear, however, my daughter will need to continue with weekly visits to the lab until the baby is born.”
“Yes sir.” The agent nodded again, “is there anything else?”
“No, you’re dismissed.” The president waved him away without even looking up. Still Leon knew he was forced to salute before leaving.
One final show of power. Making him leave without even so much as a ‘bye.’
Once in the hallway, he took a deep breath.
God…despite the man in the Oval Office being your father, your fiance fucking hated him. He despised politics. He despised the government. He wasn’t a patriot by any means, and he wasn’t going to raise his child to fucking worship the USA.
Leon took another breath and began to walk through the halls of the White House again.
He couldn’t get to the exit and into your arms fast enough.
It was a quiet morning in the DPD, with almost no phones ringing, nobody running around from person to person trying to solve a tough case, and very few people currently in for questioning.
It was a nice change from the usual hectic environment, and you let out a relaxed breath as you stepped into the office area, your persistently present partner just a few steps behind you as you both made your way to your shared desk space.
It felt good to not be immediately overwhelmed the second you entered the bullpen, and you were just about to turn towards Nines and ask if he knew why things were so calm this morning when a familiarly grating voice interrupted you.
"Hey, RoboCop, isn't your babysitter missing something important?"
You held back a groan as you stopped mid-step and turned around to face the owner of that voice, noting that Nines had done the same despite the fact that you knew he vastly preferred to simply ignore Gavin's taunting most of the time.
This morning however, he seemed far more open to entertaining the man.
"I fail to understand what you're referring to, Detective Reed."
Nines replied coolly, his voice smooth and his gaze full of boredom as he regarded your least favorite DPD detective with what could only be described as disdain.
Gavin scoffed,
"Her sling, you glorified can opener, you know, that thing she was wearing after you caught her wrong and fucked up her shoulder? Last I checked she had another week of wearing that thing."
Nines raised a brow in response to Gavin's words, an incredibly slightly shift to his head posture reminiscent of Connor's infamous head tilt showing his feigned confusion,
"How observant of you to remember my partner's original expected date of recovery. I had no idea you cared so deeply for her well being."
You choked back your laughter as you realized what Nines was doing, watching as Gavin's cheeks grew dusted with a light pink color beneath his stubble.
He glared at the android in front of him, crossing his arms over his chest indignantly.
"As if, asshole. Maybe you've both forgotten but with Detective Droid-Lover out of commission I've had to take on twice the number of field cases. I've been counting down the days until she gets that thing off since day fucking one."
Nines hummed, inspecting his fingernails briefly before he replied,
"I see. Well, I'm sure my partner is glad to hear how useful she is, since you clearly struggle to carry the work load that exists without her around."
Gavin rolled his eyes at that, clearly thoroughly annoyed,
"Deflect all you want, but I know you're just embarrassed that you didn't notice she wasn't wearing it until now. Hasn't Fowler been praising you for how excellently you've supported her the past two weeks? What's he gonna say when he finds out that your android ass was caught slacking?"
This time, it was you turn to scoff, and you crossed your arms for the first time in weeks as you finally addressed the human standing a few feet away from you.
"The sling came off early, Gavin, Three weeks was the longest projected time, the same way that one week was the shortest. You literally complained about me missing two hours of work for my doctors appointment about how much longer I would need in the sling last week. Do you ever pay attention to the shit people say to you, or do you just stop listening when your name isn't mentioned enough times?"
You watched as your coworker took a few steps forward, though he notably did not move past the android who stood in the middle of the space in between the two of you,
"I didn't complain about you missing any work, I complained about your plastic partner missing work. Since when is it normal for a detective to take their coworker damn near everywhere that they go? You two are always together and soon enough Fowler is gonna get tired of i-"
"Detective L/n, RK900, I need the two of you to take on a field case that came in five minutes ago. The report will be in shortly, so be prepared to leave in less than ten."
The sound of the captain's voice calling out from the direction of his office immediately caught your attention despite your previous argument with Gavin, and you were quick to nod in confirmation to your boss before he closed the door to his glass office, taking a phone call immediately thereafter.
You turned to Gavin once more, arms crossed over your chest as you smirked,
"What was that about Fowler getting tired of Nines and I always being together? Because it seems to me like he's pretty eager to have us working out in the field again."
The man standing opposite you glared daggers in your direction, flipping you off as he all but stomped past, sitting down at his desk and ignoring you as you chuckled at his childish response.
With that conversation being over, you turned your attention back towards your partner, who was staring straight ahead of him as he read up on the report he had just received,
"Let's go, Detective. I can tell you about the case on the way."
On the car ride over to the scene, you learned quite a bit about the investigation you and Nines were meant to carry out, and honestly, it was quite the introduction back into the field after two weeks stuck doing office work.
The two of you were headed for an abandoned car factory, where there had been recent sightings of an AV500 that had attacked his boss a few weeks prior.
Apparently, this android, whom his coworkers referred to during interviews as Martin, had been growing increasingly irate throughout the past few weeks, and had ultimately assaulted the store owner just before his opening shift on Tuesday of last week.
The store owner, a fifty-eight year old man named Herb, had survived the initial attack of being shot thrice with a handgun that had been registered in his name, but had still died at the scene after bleeding out due to the next shift not occurring for several hours, and the attack having happened in the owners office, which no one bothered to check until closing time.
Two workers had shown up nine hours after the shop opened to find that the store, a gardening shop right in the middle of the city, had been ransacked, and that their boss was slumped over in his office chair, dead.
Both coworkers claimed that they'd assumed the AV500 had been a victim as well due to his typically gentle and well-mannered nature, and it was noted in the case file that every single one of his coworkers stated they did not believe he could have done this when asked that question during interviews.
So, you had a dead shop owner who was also typically regarded by his workers as kind, a missing murder weapon, a severe lack of relevant finger prints at the crime scene, and a suspect who was supposedly very gentle, but had suspiciously gone missing the very same day that the crime had been committed with no word on him until now, when he'd been spotted at an abandoned car factory right at the edge of the city.
It was an interesting first case to come back to, to say the least.
Nonetheless though, you felt prepared, despite how little faith Nines seemed to have in your ability to stay out of harms way.
"Don't do anything foolish."
He'd stated after parking the car around the back of a building that was nearby the car factory, turning to face you with a rather serious expression.
You sighed,
"Come on, Nines, this is starting to feel insulting, do you not have any faith in me?"
Your partner rolled his eyes at your words before ultimately choosing to ignore them entirely, stepping outside of the car and closing the door behind him without a word.
He could be so difficult sometimes.
You huffed but were quick to follow suit, walking quickly to keep up with Nines as he maneuvered carefully around the various buildings surrounding the car factory, using his GPS systems to avoid putting either of you within the line of sight of someone that could be hiding out within it.
You were both silent as you eventually made your way to the east facing wall of the building, which had the least amount of windows on it. It was here that Nines motioned for you to climb up a lowered rusty metal fire escape ladder, leaning down just beside your ear as you reached up to grab at the sides, preparing to pull yourself a few feet up to the first wrung, which ended roughly six feet above the ground you were standing on.
"The ladder is stable, but be careful upon entering the building. It was lowered very recently according to my scans, and I do not need you rushing into things and getting injured all over again."
You rolled your eyes and glared at your partner, being sure to keep your voice lowered as you replied,
"Oh of course not, we wouldn't want to tarnish you record with another negative assignment outcome."
You all but spat out, watching as Nines' brows rose briefly before a slight grin began to play upon his lips,
"I'm glad you see it my way for once, Little Mouse."
He whispered back, his breath tickling your ear and nearly making you shiver even as you glared daggers at him, moving to pull yourself upward only to curse when you realized how difficult that was actually going to be.
Two whole weeks with limited arm and shoulder mobility had not been kind to your upper body strength, and the slight bolt of pain that coursed through you didn't help with the situation either.
You groaned in both discomfort and frustration, letting go of the bars completely to allow your feet to plant themselves firmly on the ground below once more.
Nines looked down at you expectantly, his brow raised as he looked you up and down slowly, attempting to assess the situation.
"Is there a problem, Detective?"
He asked, his tone both amused and disinterested at the same time as he watched you intently, awaiting your response.
You dropped your gaze toward the ground, sighing,
"I can't get up. It's bothering my shoulder and I don't wanna- woah, hey!"
You whisper shouted at your partner as he lowered his hands to your hips, lifting you upward with ease as he chuckled beside your ear,
"Whatever would you do without me, Little Mouse?"
He asked haughtily, and you could hear the teasing grin in his voice as he helped you gain footing upon the first rung of the ladder, and you couldn't help but sigh in relief as you grabbed on to the sides and gained full stability.
You gave yourself a moment longer to adjust before you started climbing up slowly, remembering Nines' previous warning to be careful as you pulled yourself into the building, noting the way that the wind whistled ominously through the many broken windows of the factory as you pressed your back against the wall with the entrance you'd just crawled in through, scanning the room for any signs of life or movement as you waited for Nines to join you.
Thankfully, due to his ridiculous strength and agility, it wasn't long before you were no longer alone within the building, and you nodded to your partner as the two of you began walking together towards the doorway that lead to the next room.
Together, you traversed the entirety of the third floor, before suddenly, Nines grabbed your arm and tugged you close, his lips only an inch away from your ear as he whispered as quietly as possible while still ensuring it remained audible to you.
"My sensors have neglected to pick up anything of significance, but my auditory system has picked up what sounds like footsteps on multiple occasions since our arrival. They are incredibly faint, and I cannot tell which direction they are coming from, but I am almost entirely certain there is someone else here."
You nodded, whispering as quietly as you could in response, knowing Nines would hear it with ease,
"Alright, what do you think we should do then?"
You asked, eyes scanning the room around you as your partner gave your question a few seconds of thought before replying,
"We should split up briefly to search the second and fourth floors. If there is someone here, the longer we take to discover them, the higher the likelihood of them escaping."
You nodded in agreement,
"Sounds like a plan, who takes what floor?"
Nines' response was immediate, clearly well thought out from the very moment he had shared his plan,
"If that AV500 is here, he's afraid of being caught, and therefore there is little sense for him to trap himself on the upper floors of this place when its harder to escape that way. This means there is an increased likelihood that he'll be on the first or second floors, so I'll check the second, and you can take the fourth."
You gave another nod, taking a step forward towards the stairs that led up to the fourth floor before a hand wrapped soundlessly around your wrist, causing you to turn around to face your partner once more,
"Be careful, Detective, and shout if you require my assistance."
Typically, when Nines said something like that, you would make a joke about him always choosing to ignore you whenever you called, but this time you just promised him that you would stay safe before slowly ascending the steps to the fourth floor as silently as possible.
Without Nines at your side, you kept your hand on the holster of your gun, trying desperately to keep both fear and adrenaline at bay as you went from room to room, sighing in relief as each one revealed itself to be empty.
You continued on your solo venture until finally, you came to the final room, making a note of the sudden chill that hit you as you stepped into it. The north facing window was smashed inward, and glass littered the ground all around the area as a result of how large the pane had been prior to being shattered.
You cursed softly as you rubbed your arms with your hands, taking note of all of the debris that littered this particular area of the building. There was way too much stuff in this room for you to be able to tell at a glance if someone was in there or not, so instead of turning back and assuming everything was clear, you moved further into the room, about to peer around a large stack of crates when a man all but jumped out from behind them, gun in hand with blood covering his work uniform.
'Herbs Gardening'
His shirt read, and you all but froze when you realized this was the AV500 you'd been searching for.
This was Martin, and more than anything else, he looked terrified, which was never a good thing when it came to deviants.
You raised your hands instantly as Martin pointed his gun at you, throat bobbing as he squeezed his eyes shut before speaking,
"Y-you need to get out of here, right now."
He said, and you shook your head gently before replying,
"I'm sorry Martin, but I can't do that. I'm with the DPD, and-"
"I don't care who you are or why you're here,"
Martin spat, his hands shaking as he tried desperately to maintain control over both himself as well as the situation at hand,
"You need to leave, and you need to forget you ever saw me, otherwise I'll be forced to do something that I really really don't want to do."
He warned, taking a step forward that had you fighting not to take your own step back as he continued to point his gun in your direction, his finger wrapped around the trigger, just waiting for the right reason to squeeze.
You swallowed thickly,
"Martin, please listen to me, I'm here to help you. I know what happened, and I want to get your side of the story. Can you tell me what made you shoot your boss?"
The android standing in front of you inhaled sharply at your words, his finger tightening instinctively over the trigger of his weapon as he searched for the right words to say,
"H-he was using me! After the revolution, he started paying me more, so even though my shifts were longer than the legal limit, I didn't care. He told me that he saw me as a person, just like every other employee that he had, but he was a liar! he was paying everybody else three whole dollars more than me per hour that entire time, and when I asked him about it, he got so... so angry. I was terrified, I'd heard that morning what had happened to that other android employee who had been ripped to pieces by his boss after bringing up his workers rights, and I couldn't bear the thought of dying in there, knowing he would never get punished for it. So I grabbed his gun from the drawer I knew he kept it in. At first, I didn't think I was going to shoot him at all, I just wanted to scare him, but he just wouldn't stop screaming how worthless I was at me, how he was going to have me taken apart for being violent towards him. I didn't want to die, especially not for trying to defend myself, so before I could even really think about it I just pulled the trigger. After that, he was still moving, and I felt so terrible for what I had done, but I didn't know what to do and I was afraid he was going to scream, so I shot him two more times in the stomach and ran away... I never wanted to hurt Herb, he was always kind to me before that..."
He looked at you, eyes glistening and fearful,
"I'm not a murderer, I was just scared."
You listened intently to his words, conflicted over what to say next as you considered your situation.
You could try to comfort the clearly fearful android, which was your first instinct, but you were unsure of how that might go. Martin was acting more than a little bit neurotic, pacing about and mumbling to himself incomprehensibly even now as you were contemplating. How he might react if you said that wrong thing frightened you into silence, even though you knew for a fact that the alternative to comforting the android in question was an impossibility for you.
Pulling your gun and threatening Martin was an idea that you had recognized as bad from the moment you'd met the man who was currently pacing quickly in front of you, speaking to himself as if there was no one else in the room as he too considered what he was going to do.
You feared for the results of his decision.
But what could you possibly do?
Nines was a whole floor away, so you couldn't risk shouting and then getting shot for it, and beyond that comfort seemed risky, and even riskier was pulling your gun. You were certain that, after all that Martin had been through, he would not react well to the sight of a weapon, and you were not about to test how good you were at dodging bullets.
You were just about to give into your initial instinct to try and comfort the android out of his fear when suddenly, the sound of heavy footsteps caught your attention, as well as the attention of Martin, who instantly aimed his gun at the doorway, letting out a cry of fear as he waited to have whoever it was that was coming into his sights.
You cursed and called out for your partner to wait, shouting that the suspect was armed and scared, but Nines either didn't hear you or didn't care, because he burst in just seconds later, gun in hand and aimed straight at Martin.
"Drop the gun!"
He shouted, his voice threatening and firm, promising injury if the receiver of his instruction didn't listen, but even so, Martin, petrified, did not listen, and instead let out a cry before he aimed that gun straight at your partner, pulling the trigger before you could even attempt to get a word out.
It struck him right where his ribs would be if he had any, and you gasped audibly as warm blue blood splashed across your face, staining the white button up you were wearing as well.
Your mouth fell open in shock at the sight of your partner's hands flying to his wound, his eyes briefly rolling backward as he clutched at the area before falling to his knees, thirium slowly staining more and more of his undershirt as it spread, leaving the insides of his hands sticky with it.
"Nines!"
You cried, rushing to his side just as Martin dropped the gun to the floor, his hands shaking and his eyes watering as he ran quickly out of the room, fleeing the scene of the crime for the second time within the past two weeks.
"Shit."
You cursed, shooing away your partner's hands as you tried to cover his wound with your own instead, desperate to keep him from bleeding out enough to shut down as a result.
You knew how rare he was, the only RK900 model in existence, and it was already getting hard enough to find spare parts for the standard models now that android injuries were occurring so frequently due to the revolution and the way some humans were reacting to it.You did not want to find out the hard way that there was some part Nines had that was irreplaceable that would mean him shutting down entirely, forever.
You watched as the android in front of you placed one of his thirium coated hands on top of your own, a slight grin finding its way to his mouth as he spat out wads of thirium and lubricant, which was pooling within his mouth due to his internal responses to the injury.
You winced at the sight, but kept your hands steady as you called for backup, praying they would arrive soon.
"You're gonna be alright."
You muttered, putting more pressure on the wound as you desperately tried to recall everything you'd learned during your two day android first aid training a few months prior.
But no matter how hard you tried, your brain just couldn't keep up due to the stress you were under.
Here was your partner of two months, injured in a way that could have been critical for all that you knew, and you felt helpless to support him as blue blood started peeking out from between your finger tips.
This was a disaster.
You cursed once more as you moved to sit on your knees, hoping that a new position might give you enough leverage to help stop the bleeding.
Your eyes stung as tears began to build in the corners of them, making it hard for you to see until you gave in and wiped them on your shoulder, not caring whether or not Nines saw how upset you were. You were terrified at the prospect of losing him, so unsure of your own future that you were desperate to preserve whatever of him that you could.
Your heart hammered in your chest despite your intentional lack of movement, your breaths coming out in short gasps and strained inhales as you pulled back briefly to rip off a piece of your shirt that hadn't already been soaked through with thirium.
But before you could, a hand reached out and grabbed at your wrist,
"Detective,"
Nines said, his voice stern and steady despite his situation,
"You need to calm down, immediately. My injuries are nonlethal, and my damaged parts will be easy enough to repair or replace."
You shook your head at his words, hands shaking as you squeezed both of your eyes shut in an effort to collect yourself, desperate to make the pounding in your head stop even for a second.
"I-I can't just calm down after you were shot like that! He could have killed you, what am I supposed to do, just be alright with it?!"
You cried, tears falling faster and rolling down your cheeks as you used your free hand to clutch at the bottom of your partners shirt, desperate for something to hold on to as all of reality appeared to fall away right before your eyes.
Your partner watched you silently for a few moments, his eyes scanning your every movement as he tried to discern what it is he could say to make you feel better. Clearly you were experiencing some form of a panic attack, but what could he do? He had said was perfectly fine save for a few bio-components that would need replacing, and that he was at almost no risk of shutting down entirely as a result of the injuries he had sustained. He had tried to explain that to you, to make you listen, but you just wouldn't hear him, couldn't believe him, and would not stop your incessant squirming, as if you were itching to do something, anything but sit there and wait.
"Little Mouse, you must hear me."
Nines finally spoke after several long seconds of deliberation, his eyes boring into your own as he did so,
"I am okay, and I must insist that you calm down before you cannot say the same. I am in no condition to help you in my current state, so you have to take care of yourself. Can you do that?"
His voice was a bit softer as he spoke this time, but still firm, and somehow, that seemed to be what got through to you, because without a word you nodded and moved off of your knees, the force of your pushing downward having bruised them long ago.
He would need to talk to you about self preservation later.
But for now, he simply watched as you tried to take deep breaths, his hand still gripping your wrist as you ran your free hand through your hair, accidentally dragging thirium through it in the process.
In fact, now that he was looking closely, he could see that there was thirium all over you.
It covered your hands, was streaked through your hair, had stained your clothes, and you'd even gotten some on your lower lip somehow.
He decided not to mention any of that.
Warnings flashed in the corners of his vision, one stating that a circulation unit of his, which was a biocomponent that supported his thirium pump regulator, was at risk of failing and inflicting strain on both his thirium pump and the aforementioned pump regulator, while another said that he had lost too much blue blood and would soon need to select various areas to shut down the function of in order to preserve consciousness and avoid a complete and total system shut down. But despite those two warnings being different, he knew they were tied together by his need to lessen his circulatory unit's strain and preserve his blue blood storage.
The gunshot wounds were not nearly as harmless as he'd let on, and now he was facing the consequences of that, because in no way could he risk you finding out about his lie.
This meant that when it came down to it, he couldn't shut down any part of him that might be cause for concern, and his options were pretty scarce.
It was either his left leg, his left arm, his left optical unit, or his vocal modulator. Clearly the circulatory unit that had been damaged was sustaining the left side.
Not that that knowledge did him any good.
Wordlessly, Nines gave you one last pointed look, one that you never actually saw, before he chose to shut down his left optical unit, hoping it wouldn't be long before a new circulatory unit could be installed and he could regain his vision on that side.
Normally, he would never have chosen something that made his aim so much less accurate, but he didn't dare run the risk of shutting down a more visibly notable portion of his body.
For now, this would simply have to do.
With the lessened strain on his left circulatory unit, Nines nearly sighed in relief as that flashing warning sign at the corner of his vision (which was now far more limited than it had been before) faded away.
He refocused his gaze on you suddenly, surprised to find that you were looking right back at him, cheeks stained with tear trails and eyes wet and wide. There was so much fear in those eyes, although he struggled to fully comprehend why.
He opened his mouth to speak, although he wasn't quite sure what he intended to say, when the sound of a door bursting open down on the first floor had you both snapping to attention.
"Detroit police!"
A familiar voice shouted, and for what may have been the very first time in your career, you were actually glad to hear Gavin Reed.
Three hours and a rather accusatory interview from Gavin himself later, and you found yourself standing anxiously outside of a large brick building simply labelled as "Android Emergency Center".
You remembered coming here when this place was unveiled by Markus and the others just a few months back, but despite that, you couldn't help but feel contempt for it now. Something about its cold exterior made you uncomfortable, and you were angry at how unwelcoming it was, no matter how ridiculous you knew it was for you to feel that way.
Deep down, you knew you were just worried about Nines, who had been taken to the emergency care center immediately after the two of you were located back at the abandoned factory, and that you were projecting all of your worry, fear, and anger onto the less than pleasant looking building in front of you, but you couldn't bring yourself to admit that out loud.
For now, you just wanted something, anything physical to be angry at, and the Android Emergency Center was working just fine.
Suddenly, as if knowing you needed a new distraction, your phone rang, and you nearly jumped out of your skin before you realized what the sudden sound was and fished your cell phone out of your pocket.
You answered it without looking,
"Hello?"
You asked, waiting impatiently to see who was on the other end of the line.
"Good evening, Ma'am. I'm very sorry to bother you but I'm looking for a Y/n L/n?"
The voice replied, and you furrowed your brows in confusion as you tried to understand what was going on.
Who was this?
"That's me. Can I help you with something?"
You asked hesitantly, briefly pulling your phone away to check the number before pressing the speaker back against your ear as the person started to reply,
"Unfortunately yes. Would you mind coming to the Android Emergency Care Center located on fifth street?"
You looked up at the large building in front of you, and then down to the street sign just at the end of the road.
'Fifth Street' It read clearly.
You swallowed thickly before replying,
"Sure, I can do that. Would you mind telling me what's going on though? I'm a little bit confused..."
The voice was quick to reply,
"Oh of course Ma'am, my apologies. You're the emergency contact for an RK900 model that we had come in earlier this afternoon, and I'm afraid that he-"
You hung up before the speaker could even finish, hand reaching to cover your mouth as you all but fell to your now shaky knees, barely managing to keep yourself upright.
You looked down at yourself, taking in of all the blue blood that covered you, particularly the clear hand print that wrapped around your right wrist.
Was this all that was left of your partner now? Some thirium that would soon fade from your naked eye forever?
You felt sick at the thought, and in an attempt to silence your reeling mind, you all but bounded up the steps of the building in front of you, slamming the large doors open as you struggled to see straight.
You walked dizzily over to the front desk, still covered in sweat, tears, and thirium as you waited for someone to help you.
Thankfully, you weren't waiting long.
Being covered in android blood in what was basically an android hospital usually meant that you didn't, but this was only your first time in that particular situation, so you weren't aware of that fact quite yet.
It would take another two times for that to really sink in.
"Uh, Ma'am, are you alright?"
An android asked from across the counter, and you realized with a start that you were just standing there as he stared at you with widened eyes, hands raised part way as if he were trying to calm you down.
"I got a call about my partner? An RK900 mode?"
You said, panting through your words as you fought for breath after your run up the stairs and your physically and emotionally taxing day.
The android regarded you with concern, but replied nonetheless,
"Oh, that was you on the phone just now?"
You nodded hurriedly, feeling an immense need to rush the man in front of you in order to get some answers about what had happened.
"Is he okay?"
You asked, voice desperate and afraid in a way that you weren't sure you'd even heard yourself use before.
The android cocked his head before he seemed to understand,
"Oh! My apologies, I wasn't sure how much you'd heard before hanging up. I was calling to ask if you might be able to help him home. He shouldn't drive so shortly after the biocomponent procedure he received, and we were hesitant to put him on a taxi alone when the side effects can be so... dramatic."
You all but froze, heat creeping up your cheeks as you swallowed thickly, suddenly very embarrassed at your previous behavior.
Maybe you should have let the man finish before hanging up the phone.
Whoops.
"Oh uh sure. Where is he?"
You asked nervously, praying he wasn't nearby enough to have heard you speaking before, only for said prayers to be met with what could have easily been considered a mockery from whatever God might have been watching.
Silently, and with a vague sparkle of amusement in his eyes, you watched as the android standing behind the service counter pointed behind you, and you had the fight the urge to flinch as you turned around and saw Nines, looking as smug as ever, sitting in a waiting room chair casually with one leg crossed over the other, no more than five feet away from where you had been standing for the past two minutes.
Perfect.
You turned back to the android who had been helping you,
"So um, you said there could be some side effects?"
It didn't take a lot to get Nines out to the car after your conversation with the engineer who had worked on him was over, although you had certainly felt the urge to make his life difficult after everything you'd learned.
Because not only had your partner lied to you about his injuries being harmless, but he had also simply watched as you all but burst into the care center, basically shouting and gasping for air as you tried to ascertain whether or not the man you had spent the past two months getting to know was dead.
If not for his engineer's warnings for him to take it easy to ensure his body adjusted well to the new and repaired biocomponents, you actually might have kicked him.
But alas, fate was not so kind as to allow that.
So here you were, stuck in the car with a man you were currently seething at, driving him back to his apartment where you would need to remain for six hours to help with observation.
You gripped the wheel tightly, fighting the urge to strangle the android sitting to your right as he spoke up for the first time during your currently fifteen minute long drive back to his place.
"You seem... upset."
He said as if he were making a simple observation, and you inhaled deeply as you considered once again how many minutes it would take for him to choke to death, if he even could at all.
Instead of that though, you simply shot a glare in his direction before turning your attention back towards the road,
"Incredibly astute thoughts from Mr. Super computer brain over here. Are you sure they didn't just make you so that you could say the most insanely obvious things ever? Because if not you're really good at it and should definitely quit your day job."
Nines hummed in response, the corners of his mouth turning upward a bit as he watched you slow down in order to pull into the parking lot of his apartment complex, parking in the same spot he always did when he was borrowing your car before throwing it into park and all but ripping the key from the ignition before you turned to face him.
"You're a real asshole, you know that?"
You all but hissed, arms crossing over your chest as you glared into his very soul,
"First you mock me for being lesser during a mission, then you go and get yourself hurt and lie to me about it, and after all of that you sit there and grin smugly at me instead of telling me that you aren't dead, and finally you make me drive you home and babysit you as the cherry on top! Where do you get off? Do you just like making everyone around you angry?"
Nines analyzed your expression, his gaze flickering between your face and the thirium that was still covering various parts of your body.
He was unsure how to feel about that sight, but brushed the thought off entirely after a few moments.
"I had no intentions of worrying you, Detective. That is exactly why I did not mention my actual condition while speaking with you previously. You were unfit to be worrying about me in your mental state at that time. And beyond that, there was no reason for you to. As I said before, I was not receiving any warning of an imminent full status shut down. If I had, I would have notified you immediately and-"
"Oh but would you have?"
You cut him off, your tone far less harsh but significantly more weak as you spoke this time,
Nines missed the old one. It was vastly preferred when compared to the pain in your voice.
"You sat there and you lied to me so easily that I never even doubted you for a second. You said that you were fine and I believed you. How do I know you won't do it again? How am I supposed to feel comfortable going out into the field with you when I can't even trust you to tell me when you need my help?"
Nines watched you for a few moments before he reached forward to your right wrist, placing his hand upon the hand print that he'd left there in a manner that was almost mindless.
You stiffened in response, but didn't pull away.
He spoke.
"I apologize. My main concern in that moment was your well being, but I neglected to consider what impact lying to you might have had when it came to our partnership and your trust in me. I had no intention of causing you any fear or stress."
You were silent for a few moments, as if taking in the words he'd said, before you eventually sighed, slumping in your seat as you finally met his gaze,
"You scared me, you know?"
He gave you the closest thing to a soft smile that he could manage and nodded,
"I am aware. Your heartbeat was extremely elevated."
You rolled your eyes,
"And that phone call bullshit was a dick move. I don't know how you got that receptionist to do it, but I would appreciate if you would have them call your actual emergency contact next time so you can get someone to convince them that you're dead instead of me."
Nines shrugged,
"That would be difficult to do considering that you are my actual emergency contact, but I'll see what I can do, Detective."
You gaped at the android sitting beside you, raising a brow in confusion,
"Wait, actually? Since when?"
He hummed before pushing your passenger side door open and stepping out onto the wet concrete below, regarding you with amused eyes,
"Around the same time I gave myself access to your medical files by forging your signature while you were in the hospital. I thought it would be more... fair that way."
You blanched,
"What?!"
You rushed to jump out of the car as quickly as possible, glaring at the man who stood on the other side of it as he chuckled at your reaction,
"I had no interest in bribing a nurse to let me stay in your room again, therefore I did what I needed to in order to ensure I could be present should you ever get injured on the job a second time."
You furrowed your brows, crossing your arms as you followed Nines into his apartment building,
"You never said anything about bribing a nurse to get into my hospital room. Where is this all coming from?"
Nines shrugged once more as he unlocked the door to his home, pushing it inward so that it swung open without a sound,
"It never came up as it was hardly anything worth noting. I simply struggled to visit you after your injury due to my non blood relative status. By putting my name down in your contacts, I therefore ensured the issue would never arise again. It also happens to have the added benefit of me having access to your medical history and upcoming appointments as well. Your gynecology appointment is in two weeks by the way."
He stated simply, inspecting the nonexistent dirt beneath his nails as he spoke.
You glared, cheeks burning bright red as you entered his apartment, all but kicking the door shut behind you.
Six more hours of this before you could go home?
You weren't even sure Nines was going to survive the next five minutes.
Daddy's Trophies (George Russell)
George managed to bring some of the most important people that supported him throughout his career to finally see and hold his trophies
Note: english is not my first language, here is some dad!George and family!Georgecontent that I hope you enjoy!
Thank you so much to everyone who likes and reblogs, your feedback is appreciated 🤍 and I'm not taking longer requests like this for the time being, so if you have any ideas or concepts you want to share, feel free to do so as I'll try to get to them the best I can but know that I am writing them in a blurb/smaller form!
"Mummy, do I need to put on my cardigan?", Olivia asked as she held the piece of clothing, "yes, bubs, it's probably going to be a bit cold outside and when you take your big coat off it's going to be worse if you don't have the cardigan", you explained as she complied, holding her sleeves on her hands like her grandmother had taught her so she could put her cardigan on without her shirt crumbling inside the sleeve, "Good job Olivia!", you praised as you tied the laces on Arthur's shoes, "And you mister, we need to get you a coat from the wardrobe because you have already outgrown yours!", you said as you turned back to get it, "That's because I'm a big boy!", he squealed as you let out a chuckle, urging them to follow you so you could make your way to your parents in law's house. Grabbing a backpack with their things as well as your own, you got to the car, strapping the kids in their seats and driving to the first stop, seeing Steve and Alisson's car already coming out of their house and follow you to the Mercedes factory.
Arriving in the Mercedes AMG F1 HQ, you parked your car as close to the door as possible before texting George that you had arrived, taking the kids out of the car and putting their coats on, "Is daddy here already?", Olivia asked as you nodded, "Why?", Arthur asked as you zipped his coat, "Because this is where daddy works during the week", you said as you saw Steve and Allison approach, the kids running to greet their grandparents who picked each of them up on their arms, "Look at how grown up you are guys!", they beamed as you grabbed the backpack and your things, looking the car as you made your way to them, "you saw us last week grandpa, we haven't grown much! Although Arthur did need a new coat, look!", she pointed to her brother, Allison giving her a smile, "at this rate it's safe to say that he's taking after George's height, we got the old coat barely 6 months ago and he's already outgrown it!", you said as you greeted your in laws before heading in.
"Little Russells, how are you?", the secretary at the front desk said as she gave each of you a lanyard for your neck, the little ones getting a sticker to put on their clothes while you collected their outerwear in your arms, seeing your husband approach, "Daddy!", they, alike they had done with his parents, ran to his arms, George crouching to hug them both, "did you have a good day at school? Didn't give mummy too much trouble?", he asked as he kissed their heads before coming back up straight, holding each of their hands in his before looking at you, stretching his neck slightly to press a kiss to your forehead before he felt his children pull at his arms, ready for the adventure. A few weeks ago, George was talking to Toto and from the conversation he realised his kids and his parents had never actually seen any of his trophies up close, let alone hold them, and given that his parents played such an important role on his career and his kids were two of the people that made me want to work more and do better everyday, so it only made sense that they too would get to see them.
Walking through the corridors you knew a little bit of from previous visits on your own, you, Steve and Allison followed George, Olivia and Arthur until you reached one of the rooms where they build the car parts after placing some earprotectors on the little ears, Arthur absolutely thrilled when he found a screw and one of the engineers allowed him to put it on properly in the component they were working on and, when you moved to one of the simulator rooms, Olivia was having the best time as she sat on her father's lap while he drove in the circuit simulation. "Olivia, Arthur! You came to the office and didn't tell me?", you heard Toto say just as you were closing the SIM room door, "Toto!", Olivia was the first to let go of her father's hand, running to Toto to meet his highfive, Arthur running behind her and doing the same before the waved at you to come closer, "Are you guys headed to see the trophies?", Toto asked after he greeted you briefly, heading to the room when you nodded.
"This one I won when I was 24, in Monza", he crouched down so the kids could see it on his hands, afraid that they would hurt themselves if they dropped it on their feet, "did you know mummy when you were 24?", Olivia mused, looking up at you, "I did, me and mummy met when we were 21", he recalled the day where his eyes first landed on you, your laugh catching his attention before he saw you, his heart skipping a beat, "So you're very old", she concluded from the small conversation, making you fake gasp, "did you just say I'm old?", you exaggerated your reaction, earning giggles from her, "it's alright, you're very pretty still, mummy. Oh look, is that me or Arthur in your mummy's belly?", Olivia asked as she pointed to one of the pictures next to the trophy where you were pregnant, George's right hand craddling your bump while his left one held the trophy from a race in Silverstone, your smiles massive as you looked at the camera, "that would've been you Olivia, but that one right there", George pointed to a bigger frame where you were craddling a baby boy in your arms next to George and another trophy, "That is Arthur, look, little man, it's you!", he said as he grabbed the frame so they could take a closer look, "I was holding the trophy grandma has on her hands right now", he said before he hugged his mother's side, "it's incredible how much you have achieved in your career. Seems like it was yesterday that you were telling me that the kart was either too slow or too noisy in certain parts of the circuit and I kept taking notes to see where your father could improve it, my goodness, and it was so long ago, look at them!", she pointed to her youngest son's children running around eachother, the trophies long forgotten for now. Pressing a kiss to his mum's forehead, he went to your side, looking at the cabinet that held the trophies from his first season in Mercedes, "These bring back a lot of memories", you began, stretching your arm to hold your husband's waist, leaning on his chest a bit when he put his arm around your shoulders, "so much has changed", he nodded to your children, "but at the end of it, it's still us, since then and until forever", George finished as he kissed your forehead, your head tilting so you could get a proper kiss, "even when I get old and wrinkly?", you teased, "Olivia already seems to think you're old so I wouldn't worry about it", he replied back, your hand swatting his chest playfully as you admired your children and his parents talking about the different circuit shaped trophies.
Didn't Plan for This: Chapter 2
Wonder Woman x Demigod!Fem!Reader
No warnings! Just a completely normal date, trust me ;)
agápi mou = My darling in greek
3148 words
Masterlist
Chapter 1
Summary: Your date with Diana goes well... Until!
To say that I was antsy to get my cast off wouldn’t be a lie but also it wouldn’t be the full truth. After she left my room it wouldn’t be for another two days before I was told that my foot was healing much faster than normal. That’s to be expected, I’m a demigod, but getting into that with the doctors would take too much time, so I just nodded and waited for them to give me the all clear to leave.
After leaving the hospital, Ana took me to my place so I could rest, shower, eat real food and wait for her text. Which took longer than I expected (A full day!). I got a text from an unsaved number asking if I was okay so we could have a date, at least that’s what I understood. It was actually written:
- I trust you’re safe. I have seen someone else in your hospital window so am I to assume you’re okay and not dead? -Diana
I chuckled while reading it, it felt like she was trying so hard not to write a letter but texting is clearly something she’s not super used to, I responded that yes I was alive and that I appreciated her text, after a bit of back and forth where she took her time writing her Hymns. We eventually settled on a date and time, you can Imagine my completely cool face and simple smile as she told me the details and not at all my embarrassing kiddie giggles as this interaction happened.
As the day approached, friday so I could go and not worry my job the day after, I tried to keep myself busy with all the reports and managing the damages the earthquake had brought upon the poor building I work at, thankfully the slides actually managed to hold most of the building up so the cleanup was easy and the fixes that were absolutely needed were made without the threat of the a bunch of rock falling on top of the workers.
- The boss wants to see you - Ana said knocking on my door, which is weird, she’s the front desk secretary. What was she doing in my office on the second floor?
I looked at my watch, two hours until I could go home, time was going too slow. Unfortunately that gave me plenty of time to see my boss.
- Alright I’ll be right over, thanks Ana. - I sigh giving her a smile
- Actually he wants to see us both, right now - She said, her face not showing much but I knew she was just as confused as me as to the why of the meeting.
- Maybe he wants to talk about the earthquake. Maybe he’ll make you my assistant seeing as you were also helping people - I say hopeful
- Maybe he’ll make YOU my assistant, for installing floaties on his building! - She smirked
- Safety slides! - I corrected her, lightly smacking her on the arm as we made our way to his office - And he knew what they were, maybe not what they looked like, but he knew!
As we walked I couldn’t help but wonder back to that night in my hospital and the way Wonder Wom- Diana… Diana sat beside me and we just talked, she praised me like I was an equal and asked ME for my number. And then she set up a date. I kept thinking of ways I could impress her, making plans and imagining every possible conversation in my mind. Maybe I should bring her flowers? Or sword polish? Maybe she’s more of a chocolate kinda girl? Everyone like chocolate ri-
- We’re here - Ana said as she put a hand on my shoulder before I was able to open my boss’s door with my nose
- Great! - I say trying to push Wonder Woman thoughts away and putting on my work face - What are you waiting for? - I say to my friend as if I didn’t just almost run into the big boss door.
As we go in I see that the quake hasn’t done much to change my boss’s absolutely hideous sense of decor, his “newton’s cradle” that keeps hitting itself perpetually is still there and is still as annoying as always, his poster with a robot in a suit saying with a little speech bubble: “A good workplace is like a well oiled machine” didn’t get turned into dust during the incident. The whole vibe of the small office on the top floor was still the same, though I did feel like it was all leaning to the left a little too much.
My boss, Mr. Vamp - if that sounds a bit too much like a certain monster to you, don’t you’re not alone and Mr. Vamp already beat you to the joke - Is actually quite the nice man, other than his terrible decoration choice, he always knew what to do for the company to flourish and never thought of himself as above us, though if I’m being honest his demeanor probably stands from the fact that his father owned the company before he did and he was raised to take this position so he most likely grew up in this place. Learning what everyone did so he could always make the best judgment call. Terrible sense of humor though, as all CEOs have. Maybe the robot was a joke? If it was, I did not get it.
- Sir, you wanted to see us? - I said. Sitting in one the chairs in front of him, Ana taking the other one
He looked at me with his brown eyes and bushy eyebrows with almost an expectation, then said:
- Yes Ms. Y/L/N, and Ms. Blönd. I wanted to see you both. - He said leaning back on his leather chair that looked to be recently cleaned, good for him. - I wanted to talk to you both about the incident that happened a few days ago…
After the meeting I felt as if I was going to explode with excitement, both from the topic that we just discussed and also because it was my time to leave!
I said a quick goodbye to my friend and went promptly home. Getting there I texted Diana to see if our plans were still up, and getting back a yes and that she would come over to pick me up in thirty minutes. Thirty minutes was plenty of time to take a shower, pick an outfit, have a little stress snack and get my mind rolling on possible conversation topics. The one thing I didn’t know was what we were doing! Diana had just said to wear comfortable clothes. But I didn’t know if we were going somewhere fancy or not so I settled on long pants, a nice enough jacket and a black and yellow t-shirt. Now all I had to do was wait…
Half an hour until 18:00, I check my phone and see she’s sent a message:
- Wait on the roof - Diana
I think she’ll do a surprise but still, you never know so I pack a little bag with a few things to my mind at ease, also grabbing the little gift I bought for her.
It’s now 18:30 and I think I can see her silhouette, coming towards the roof? Or maybe a night pigeon? No, it’s getting bigger? I think that is her! Yes! It’s her! I start to jump up and down while waving at her. When she lands next to me  I have to take a deep breath, she’ll always impress me with her height.
- You came! - I said
- I remember saying I would come. - She said with a smile before pulling me into a hug, I blushed so much from that gesture - I hope I didn’t leave you waiting for long? - She set me down before taking a step back and smiling.
- Not at all, it’s a big city and I imagine you stopped to help citizens along the way - I say with a smile, I would’ve waited until midnight but I don’t tell her that
- You wouldn’t believe how many people get in trouble when you have somewhere to be! - She sounded exasperated but chuckled - I am sorry I was late and hope I can make it up to you. - She said, reaching for my hands and holding them under her own.
- Well, that's what I get for going on a date with a superhero so good she’ll help everyone that needs her - I say trying to ease her worries - But I’m curious as to what you have planned for us Diana.
She beams at me, it’s beautiful. Her sapphire eyes glitter when she’s reminded of her purpose here. I just now notice that her black hair seems perfect even though she just flew across the city to meet me and her tiara is shining as it reflects the setting sun.
- Oh you’ll love it. I talked to some of my sisters that met other children of Athena and what I have planned will amaze you. - She says matter of factly like it was obvious or premeditated. That struck as a little cocky from her part so I decided to poke at it for a bit.
- You sound so sure, what makes you think I’m like the others? - I say with a little smirk and it seems to take her off guard.
Her eyes narrow at me and she shoots an eyebrow up before smiling and saying.
- I guess you’ll be disappointed by the field trip then. - She says, gauging my reaction, which consists basically of my eyes widening and my mouth opening to ask her a barrage of questions, but before I can she puts my hands around her neck and whispers to me - Ready to fly?
I nod furiously before the ground leaves my feet and I find myself being lifted up into the air, it’s an amazing experience. The wind in my face, Diana’s hands on my hips securing me to her body, the way the city’s lights turning on dance flicker through my eyes. But before I can get used to it all, we begin to descend and I find us in front of a broken down phone booth.
- Which of my siblings did you talk to, exactly? - I look at her confused and she laughs out loud.
- No no, this isn’t the place, this is a shortcut. - she says, opening the door and walking in. She then says something that I assume is code. - Wonder Woman, 03, location, 37.9838° N, 23.7275° E.
- That’s in Europe - I whisper, remembering some maps I had read of the world.
- Plus Y/N, 03-B. - She adds winking at me and the phone booth speaks
- Location locked, access granted, Diana Prince and Y/N - It says before the inside starts to glow and Diana pulls me inside, the phone booth isn’t super big so the only place I can comfortably sit is her lap, which makes me blush, like, a lot!
I closed my eyes as the inside glows brighter and brighter until suddenly it stopped and I found myself still on Diana’s lap, still blushing but being able to hear the faint sounds of New York anymore. I quickly get off of her and open the door to see that I’m not in New York anymore, I’m in…
- Athens - Diana completes my thought like she can read my mind - Well, the center of it, not nearly as pretty as it was in its heyday.
- H-how, How on earth did we… - I can’t think of words to say, my mind is racing through different ways that phone booth, no, wait. It’s not a phone booth, it’s a creaky door to an unsuspecting building. Must be the way the Justice League disguise their teleporters - So that must be alien technology, can’t be kryptonian since it’s in English, but it also can’t be martian because if it was we would have teles to Mars already - I start rambling theories before Diana puts a hand on my shoulder.
- You really can’t stop thinking can you? - she smiles - How about we go have our date. Then you can go back to your theories? - she suggests
- Y-yeah. W-where are going, are we flying again? - I pick up my thoughts and manage to ask her.
She gives me her gorgeous smile and says
- We can, agápi mou. - She said in Greek. Which I know some, I wanted to learn after I found out about my heritage but the crappy lessons I took never taught me this word but the way she said it gave me fuzzy feelings inside.
I put my arms around her again and we started to soar through the beautiful landscape before landing on a secluded little hill. It overlooked most of the city, the lights were mostly off, the moon was off-center in the sky so it was probably 01:00 in the morning. The time seemed perfect to see the stars, and all the constellations of my ancestors and all the ancient stories.
Another thing that I noticed was the little checkered blanket and large picnic basket beneath a tree on the top of this hill. I gasped out loud and said
- Oh my gods, a picnic under the stars in one of the most historically charged cities in the world? You really know how to get inside my little owlet heart. - I said hugging her
- I wanted to make a good impression, and I’m glad it was your heart that I got inside because your mind seems like a tougher place to get in.
If only she knew
- Don’t worry Di, you’re off to a very good start. - I said as she started pulling me under the tree to sit down
- I am glad. - She said with a genuine smile, it was more reserved than her other smiles but showed just as much, if not more, emotion. - What would you like? - She slid the basket in between us and threw it open revealing a whole bunch of food. She clearly wanted to make sure we had a good selection of sandwiches, fruits, juices, and all that kind of delicious things.
- Oh that, that and that. - I pointed to a couple of items and she put them in a little plate for me before making one for herself.
The dinner was pretty silent, but a comfortable silence that didn’t make me feel like I needed to talk.
After we were done we started stargazing, I showed her my favorite constellations. She told me of the stories of the ones she liked. Then I told her the myths attached to mine and laughed at weird hymns and poems that the ancients wrote.
When the laughter and conversation started to die down Diana got up and offered me her hand.
- Come on, we have one more stop.
- I hope it’s as fun as this stop - I smiled and took her hand before wrapping myself around her, I could get used to this, and we took off.
It didn’t take long until we got to this next stop, which left me grasping for words, this woman loves doing that to me doesn’t she? We were on top of the Parthenon, one of the most famous monuments in the world and a direct tribute to my mom.
- Holy shit. - Was all I could say, as my mind was flooded with the image of the huge building and the people below us, not many but still enough to look like ants going inside and out - Diana, you are amazing. - I managed to gasp out.
She looked pleased with herself but before she could say something she got a frown on her face, only then I noticed the ear piece she was wearing. She touched it and made an angry face, before softening when looking at me.
- I am sorry Y/N, but it seems that the culprit of the earthquakes is still loose, but we think we got them. I am going to have to go and make sure they get arrested. - She said a little sadly, but I couldn’t help but think:
- Take me with you! - I said out loud, noticing this could be my chance to really impress her and the rest of the superheroes - I’ve been researching the best way to negate, what I assume is, the vibration maker that screwed up my city and I think I came up with a solution. - But before I can go on she stops me.
- No agápi mou, I can’t let you come with me. It’s too dangerous for someone like you - Now it was my turn to cut her off.
- Someone like me? I’m just as much a demigod as you! I’m not exactly a vulnerable mortal here, I broke my leg not even a week ago and now I’m walking around in Greece. If you think you’ll have to protect me? I can assure you I’m trained with hand to hand and knives. My job as Chief of Security had me learn that to be able to defend myself. - I said a little mad, but also kinda feeling fuzzy over her trying to protect me, as I finished my speech I looked into her eyes with my best determined look. That was the most time I’ve ever spent looking into someone’s eyes and I’m so glad it was her beautiful dark blue eyes.
Eventually she relented and said:
- Fine. But you stay as far away from the dangerous parts as possible - She reached on the back her suit and pulled a beautiful silver dagger with ancient greek inscriptions along it and a leather strapped handle - And you will use this if you get attacked, it’s enchanted as to not be dulled or break.
I took the dagger along with its sheath and strapped it to my belt, not too heavy, not too light.
- Thanks for trusting me Di, now. Where did you say we were going? - I asked expectantly. I did not expect Diana to turn to me with a smile and say.
- Well, New York of course. They wouldn’t want to stay far from home now would they? - She before picking me up and flying us to the rundown building, completely forgoing our bags. But I had the feeling that they were safe.
She opened the door and said the same string of commands just changing the coordinates to New York then pulling me onto her lap. I think she was also enjoying making me a blushing mess in front of her, I can just hope I don’t come off like this to her friends.
The room started to glow and I closed my eyes taking a deep breath, saying a quiet prayer for my mom and preparing myself for a battle.
Even after a full day off I felt more tired than I did before. But I still went to the Club before the crowd came in and took my place behind the bar.
I worked through the orders as usual, but didn't engage into conversations with customers or other workers too much. I knew being distracted will probably make Kaz talk my ear off, but I didn't really care about him or his Club today.
"He wants to see us." Inej said sliding on one of the stools. I looked up to her in curiosity. "Said he had a job." I huffed giving the customer his drink before throwing the rag on one of the shelves.
"Anything important?" I asked walking with Inej. She send me an apologetic smile.
"He took you away from the bar so I think so, yes." She nodded walking upstairs. I only nodded trailing behind the girl.
Kaz was sitting behind his desk with documents thrown all over it. Inej walked in first and stopped in front of his desk, while I closed the doors and plopped down into the chair. I never asked why Jesper and Inej never sat down in the free chair, but I always used that opportunity to sit down myself.
"I want you to join Inej on her night watch." Kaz glanced my way but I didn't react to his order for a second.
"Can't Inej take care of it by herself?" I asked which made Inej throw me a warning glance.
"I want you both on the job." Brekker said again making me huff.
"I ain't a Crow, Brekker. I work the bar, that's why I was employed for. I don't have to ran around doing jobs for you." I said getting pissed off. Last night didn't help in controlling my emotions.
"Inej, go ahead. She'll join you later on." Kaz said making the girl nod and leave the room quietly. I crossed my arms sinking into the chair. "We have a deal."
"I've been here for months and you didn't do shit to bring him down. Do you still really think I'm some dumb gang member?" I seethed glaring at him. He ran his gloved hand through his hair before meeting my gaze again.
"What do you want me to do? Can't really go against Dime Lions with nothing on us." He said slowly like I was a child throwing a tantrum. It made me grit my teeth even harder.
"I give you a month, Brekker." I said standing up. "If by that time you don't have a plan or do something I'll do it my way." We glared at each other for a second before I turned around to find Inej.
She was already on the rooftops when I managed to catch up. She quickly informed me where we should head and started to lead the way. I couldn't show her what I really could do, but I made sure she seemingly taught me her art of stillness. Now Kaz would send me on recon missions with her to keep me in form.
Soon Inej caught a word on the streets about a big job coming up. We followed the man silently, while they unknowingly gave away more and more details.
We went separate ways close to the mansion so we could gather more intel. Although I mostly watched over the guards and staff members so they didn't come close to Inej's hiding spot. I didn't hear much either since I constantly moved from one place to another keeping my friend safe.
When I finally noticed her shadows move away from the building it was already raining. I loved Ketterdam for its weather. The constant rain was something I loved. Most of nights like this I would spend perched on my window watching the water wash away mood and blood.
Inej was the first one to slid into Kaz's room through the window. I stayed out for a moment longer until I heard him greet her.
"What information do you have for me tonight?" He asked washing his hands. Inej stepped in front of me, while I stayed close to the window.
"A lead on a job. A big one. Enough money to change lives." Inej said, but I stayed quiet. Seemingly a shadow in the corner. Kaz looked at her through his mirror before softly shaking his head.
"It doesn't take much to change someone's life in the Barrel." He said not showing his interest. I huffed rolling my eyes.
"A million kruge?" Inej asked knowing it would finally get his attention. He straightened up almost immediately.
"What's the name?" I could see his curiosity through the reflection in mirror. He was already in his work mode.
"Dreesen. A wealthy merchant." Inej informed making him nod slightly.
"Dreesen. I've heard of him." I hummed lightly. Every good gang leader should know about people like that. The slimy rats acting like they're kings of the city. "He could afford it. The question is, what's worth a million kruge to him?"
"He's looking for a crew willing to cross the Fold into East Ravka and bring back something." Inej said making me turn my head in her direction. Guess I should've asked about the job before we came here. Kaz turned around putting his gloves on and I turned my face blank again.
"The Fold? Well, of course, certain death pays a million." He quickly glanced my way and I shrugged lightly. "He didn't say what he wants nicked?"
"No." Inej answered looking down. "But he's taking meetings tonight, starting at midnight."
"Tell me you followed him." Kaz said looking at us over his left shoulder. Inej smirked and I knew she was proud of herself.
"He brought someone in from the ship. Took a way back to his house in the Garden District to avoid attention. I would have followed him inside, but Dreesen's hired some private security. I would have had to use my knives to get closer." Inej told Kaz the story while I looked at the wall getting slightly distracted by my own thoughts.
"Private security. Anyone we know?" Brekker wondered with his attention on Inej.
"A Zemeni man. I think his name is Tendo. You know him?" Inej asked glancing to me too. I had quiet the memory for people's faces and names.
"Gambles at one of Pekka's clubs." I said lightly making Kaz nod along.
"I won't have leverage on him. But Pekka will." Kaz grimaced lightly and went to his desk with Inej following. I lightly rolled my eyes going after them.
"Kaz, I got this lead from one of the girls at the Menagerie." Inej said making me realise why she was the only one to hear about it before we saw Dreesen. Kaz glanced her way in question. "They tell me things in case you'd buy them out, like you did with me."
"I didn't buy you, I'm paying off your indenture." Kaz said leaning on his desk.
"You know what I mean." Inej said quickly. "This one girl, Kesh, she has skill. She's like me."
"I only invest in the one of a kind." Kaz said slightly raising his voice. "She isn't like you. No one is." I bit my cheek seeing the awkward interaction.
"So? What's our move now?" Inej asked walking to stand in front of the desk and I leaned on the arch beside me.
"You're the one of us who believes in a higher power." Brekker said straightening and looking at DeKappel's painting of the Fold. "If we're going to survive a round trip through the Fold, we'll need a miracle or two."
"Or a lot of money." I huffed standing normally. "Either way, I'm out."
"What do you mean?" Kaz asked squinting at me and I shrugged.
"I'm out. I did the recon job with Inej, I've got a shift in the morning and there's no way you'll make me cross that pit of darkness." I said crossing my arms and Inej looked from me to Kaz.
"We'll need you on this job." He said not breaking our gaze.
"You don't even know the details. You have no idea if you'll need me." I threw my hands up in annoyance. He pinched his nose showing his own irritation.
"Inej leaves us." She patted my shoulder on the way out as a sign she'll be waiting at the Slat. Second time that she was order to leave, because I didn't follow orders. "Why are you being so difficult lately?"
"Maybe because we made a deal and you didn't do shit yet." I said with anger in my tone. "If you can't do it then just tell me. I'll gladly get Blade back to life and cut his head off."
"Killing him won't make him pay for what he did." Brekker reminded in a raised voice making me groan.
"Then do something. At least let me mess with him a bit." I sighted giving him my puppy eyes.
"It won't work on me." Kaz send me a glare and turned to his documents.
"Oh, I think it would if you didn't try to distract yourself with papers." I smirked seeing his tightened jaw. "But fine, I gave you a month. And I'll wait."
"Fine. Now go out and figure out a way to cross the Fold." Kaz order not even looking up to see me frown.
"I've got a shift in the morning." I said reminding him of my real work.
"You're off the bar duty as long as the milion kruge job is on the table." He only gave me one look before waving me off. I didn't had much energy to have another argument, so I opted in joining Inej in the Slat and downing a drink or two.
5 Times Ross and Lisgoe Definitely Weren't In Love (and 1 time they were)
I'm a sucker for "5 Times, 1 Time" fics, so I decided to make one for my current brainrot ship
When you live with someone for long enough, you grow used to seeing them everywhere. Even if you don't spend every waking moment attached at the hip, you'll see them going about their day at the same time as you. It gets to the point where not seeing them, when you know they're in the house, is a little jarring
Lisgoe had to get used to that quite quickly, since Ross likes to bring home work to do on his day off
He isn't clingy but, when they first started living together, when he was downstairs and hadn't heard so much as a shuffle upstairs for most of the day, he started to wonder if he's snuck off somewhere. Eventually, he decides to test the waters
"Ross, are you still there?"
No answer
"Ross?"
Still no answer
"Twat!"
No answer
OK, so he's definitely gone
Deciding to get to the bottom of this himself, Lisgoe got up and made his way upstairs
Once he reached the top floor, he noticed that the door to their bedroom was ajar, which suggested at Ross had either just left or just got back - if he even left at all. Lisgoe decided to take a quick peek through the space in the doorway, and that's when he saw him
Ross was sat at his desk (technically, they shared it, but he used it far more often) with a desk lamp on. There was a stack of books on one side, a laptop in front of him and another book propped open by his hand. Everything was in its place
What started as a "quick peek" turned into something that took a little longer. He wasn't staring, obviously, that's weird! This was just... something that wasn't staring! Truth be told, there was something about seeing Ross so focused that caught Lisgoe's attention and refused to let it go. Maybe it was the stillness of it, aside from nimble fingers flicking through pages and the clicking of keys. Or it was the way his brows furrowed in concentration as his knuckle rested on his lower lip
Yes, there was something about it that made it impossible to look away. And he'd come to the conclusion that it was Ross' fault. It wasn't a bad thing, but it was definitely his fault
"Staring is rude," Ross said, not looking up from his work "can I help you?"
"I thought you'd died." Came the casual response as Lisgoe opened the door and leaned against the doorframe "And looking is different to staring."
"I know. And you were definitely staring."
"Don't wank yourself off, I was just looking."
"What do you want?"
Instead of replying, he left his spot and went over to stand behind Ross to get a better look at the laptop screen. It was full of... there was lots of...
"What the fuck is this?"
"Data analysis"
"Right, I see it now."
"I assume you know what-"
"What do you think I do at my desk all day?"
"I don't know, you don't tell me about your job."
He didn't know what possessed him to ask, but it came out before he could stop himself:
"Tell me about it."
The way Ross blink rapidly and seemed to twitch his head to the side suggested that this was not what he expected to hear
"You want to hear my weekly evaluation?"
"I want to know if you actually understand what you type into that laptop."
Lisgoe knew damn well that Ross understood what he was typing, but it was the one method he knew would explain everything in detail. And it worked! He was completely in the zone, like a lecturer explaining to a keen student
Had he been less focused, he'd have noticed that Lisgoe hadn't looked at the laptop screen more than twice
There are things you expect to see in Royston Vasey: blood in Edmund Chinnery's veternary, pens in Pauline's office, Dean trying to interest some poor sod in his magic
What Ross didn't expect to see at the dead of night, after waking up randomly and realising his partner wasn't there, was finding him lying on the edge of the pavement a fair way out from their home. He didn't look injured or annoyed, in fact it was the rare sight of him looking almost peaceful, his eyes directly up at the sky
That was, of course, quickly ruined when he realised he was being watched
"Fuck off, Glenn, I don't have to deal with your shite after 4pm. It's clearly past 9."
"Have you been here all day then?"
That made him sit up suddenly, noticing who it was seemed to make him less cranky
"I've only been here for half an hour, maybe, I left the house at 11."
"It's currently 2:30 in the morning. You've been here for 3 and a half hours."
"Have I? Fuck, must've fallen asleep."
"What are you doing here? People are going to think you're homeless!" Ross took his arm and tried to yank him up "Get up, you don't know what people have done on this street."
"Get off, I'm fine!" Lisgoe said as he shook free from his grasp "It's 2:30, nobody's gonna see me. Besides, I've done this before, you've just never realised."
"Are you the newest member of Legz Whatever? Has their director got you method acting in preparation for his newest disaster?"
"Fuck off, you cheeky bastard!" Lisgoe shuffled a little, moving so he was facing the empty road "I come out here sometimes, only when I really hate things."
"What things?"
"Everything. Work mainly; sometimes it's fine, but sometimes I can't stand anything about it. I hate my job, I hate my co-workers, I hate my boss - especially hate my boss."
It was a this point that Ross remembered how little Lisgoe actually told him about his work. He knew he was a debt collector, he knew he had two stupid bozos working for him, but that's it
"I didn't even know you had a boss."
"Not many people do." Lisgoe couldn't help but laugh a little, there was something oddly empowering about the fact people assumed he was the man in charge "I'm Barry and Glenn's supervisor, Hammonds oversees everything. When those thick twats don't meet their target, I'm the one who gets it in the ear. He gave me a right telling off today, the gobshite. He doesn't give a fuck about those two, I'm the one who's meant to be making sure they reach their target each week. What am I? Nanny Mc-fucking-phee?"
Ross waited for a moment, then folded his jacket and put it on the floor beside Lisgoe. He sat down
"I've never met Hammonds, but he sounds like a wa- um, a very arrogant man."
"That's not what you were gonna say."
"I don't know what you mean."
"You were gonna swear!" Lisgoe said with a mischevious smile which Ross did not find handsome at all "I heard it, you were gonna call him a wanker!"
"No I wasn't."
"Come on Ross," Lisgoe teased, moving closer "you wanna call him what he is. We both know that. Nobody's around, let it go."
Ross leaned away slightly, refusing to give into his influence. This was met by Lisgoe laying back down with a huff, hands behind his head
"Aren't you a boring sod!"
"I'm not calling him that because that isn't what he is."
"Maybe you think that, I think-"
"He's a... prick"
At first, Lisgoe was taken aback, then he started to laugh a little
"It's funny when you hesitate before you swear, you're like a primary schooler saying 'crap' for the first time!"
"It's not that funny." Ross replied, but his sterness was weak. He was focused on the man beside him, who still seemed tickled by what had just happened
He had to admit, seeing Joseph Lisgoe's tough shell crack a little wasn't an unwelcome sight. If it happened again, at some point, not that it would, but if it did... he decided that he wouldn't mind
●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●
"You're an idiot." Ross muttered as he held an ice bag to Lisgoe's cheek "I mean it. You're a complete idiot."
"Can you say it again?" Lisgoe snarked "I don't think I heard you the 6th time."
"One week, can you go one week without picking a fight with someone?"
"I don't know, can people go one week without testing my fucking patience?"
It didn't matter what Ross said, it wouldn't change Lisgoe's mind that the bastard deserved it. Actually no, he thought, I went easy on him. I was kind enough to give him a minor concussion instead of snapping his neck. Either way, it seemed that Ross was making sure his message came through, because he was pressing the ice down so hard on Lisgoe's cheek it was like he was trying to dislocate his jaw
"Do you have to press so hard? Or do you just want to give me another fucking injury?"
"If you don't want me doing this, then stop wanting to attack everyone that looks at you wrong. I don't find this enjoyable, seeing you come home with new injuries every day."
"You're exaggerating!" Lisgoe grabbed his arm and moved the ice away "And he was asking for it! I don't care what he had to say about me, he shouldn't have dragged you into it."
There wasn't a response after that. He leaned back on the sofa as Ross put the ice away, not speaking even he was sat back down
"Ross, don't do the 'silent treatment' shite. It annoying as fuck when people pull that-"
He hadn't noticed Ross leaning in until his lips pressed against his own. The first thought that crossed Lisgoe's mind was that asshole didn't let me finish. What made things worse was, as soon as he pulled away to say something, he just pulled him in again roughly
It pissed him off, how easily Ross affected him. The last thing he wanted was to be affected like this, to need this: those hands, that mouth, just... It felt so fucking pathetic every time and yet he couldn't stop himself. It wasn't just adrenaline, it was like an anchor weighing him into place. His nails dug into Ross' back tightly, and he revelled in the sound he produced
Out of everything, that was the one thing Lisgoe hated about the way he felt. Royston Vasey knew him as impenetrable, and he was! Nobody dared to challenge him because everyone knew he wouldn't be stopped. That was who he was, unwavering and authoritative
So why did he react so erratically when that man threatened Ross earlier? Why did the mere thought of Pauline make him want to storm right into that Job Centre and turn her inside out? And why the fuck, whenever Ross kisses him, even for a second, does it make his brain shut off for the duration of it? He wished he could come up with an answer, but his brain was short-circuiting and Ross had his lower lip in his teeth...
He hated it. He truly fucking hated it. But he didn't at the same time
As he felt Ross's hand move up his shirt, he thought this is going to kill me
Then, as he pushed Ross backwards against the sofa, he thought what a fucking way to go!
●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●
The next morning came far too quickly
Neither could remember when they ended up in their bed, but it happened. Clearly. Because Ross had woken up and was laying on his side, looking at the back of a sleeping Lisgoe. Instantly, his eyes were drawn to the tattoo that decorated his back - a large snake slithering up to his neck. Ross thought it made Lisgoe look like a member of the Japanese mafia which, he supposed, was partly the point. Still, it made him look infuriatingly good; when Ross first slept with Lisgoe, he was less disturbed by the fact he liked doing it with guys and was more confused by the fact it was the first instance in which he wasn't massively put off by someone's tattoos - especially given how many Lisgoe had
Before he could stop himself, he slowly reached out and touched his shoulder, running his fingers gently down the black marking... next thing he knew, he's been back-handed in the face by a very surprised Lisgoe
"Fucking hell..." he muttered when he finally realised who it was, still slightly groggy from tiredness "What was that?"
"That was me, you moron!" Ross was clutching his face, clearly feeling the sting
"I know that," he turned onto his other side, facing the man he just hit "what were you doing?"
"Nothing."
A pause. They both knew that was a lie, Lisgoe wasn't accustom to smacking Ross in the face
"I was just looking at your tattoo," he explain, reaching for his glasses on the bedside table and putting them on "I didn't realise that warrented a smack in the mouth!"
"I didn't do it on purpose! You know unexpected touches put in fight-mode, I raised my hand, you were too close, you got hit!" Lisgoe looked at the red mark on his cheek and asked, in an uncharacteristically soft voice "Are you OK?"
Ross was caught off-guard by the quiet, half-whispered tone. It actually made his chest jump a little, but only because it was so unexpected! Yes, it was like a jumpscare... but nicer
"It just hurts," he answered, more confused than in pain "a lot."
"Oh give over. I didn't hit you that hard, you big bitch! It's not like I'm gentle with you when we're fucking, anyway!"
"Thank god," Ross felt himself smile a little upon hearing that familiar, snappy tone "for one horrible moment, I thought you were developing compassion."
"Nah, not a chance!"
Lisgoe was lying on his back now, which meant Ross could see even more of his tattoos. Maybe it was the fact they were just a neutral monochrome that made them look OK (well, more than OK), or maybe, and this was a frightening thought, Ross liked tattoos on Lisgoe specifically
He faced the ceiling
That was the one thing that truly set his teeth on edge: Joseph Nigel Lisgoe was an exception to all his rules. Don't get involved with the wrong sort: the sort with tattoos and vulgar language, the sort that settle disputes with their fists and find books a waste of time
What made things worse is that no only had every rule been broken, but it turned out that they were all based on incorrect conclusions. Lisgoe may not have been good with logic or reasoning, but he could tell you everything about niche subjects like medieval torture methods, famous cults, and serial killers - hell, he'd probably truly enjoy reading a book on the subject if he didn't find the act of reading so difficult. He didn't get tattoos because they made him look intimidating, he could do that without ink on his skin, he just thought they looked cool. And Ross learned that, despite everything, he wasn't a hypocrite; whatever you gave, he gave back. Direspect, attitude, favours: he repaid it in full - maybe not in the way you expect it, but he did. Lisgoe wasn't a kind or even a forgiving person, but he wasn't dishonest
When he thought about it, Ross realised that he really couldn't predict anything about Lisgoe the same way he did for everyone he met. But, for the first time, he didn't want to. He didn't want to look for patterns in his behaviour and try to figure out his next move. For once, he'd met someone he didn't want to analyse - he just wanted him as he was
And that thought alone went against everything he'd taught himself
Joseph Lisgoe, in many ways, was a jumpscare
First thing Lisgoe thought when he came home from work:
Well. That was shite
It wasn't like he hated his job normally, some days just felt worse than others. This was one of those days; it was as it Barry, Glenn and Hammonds were in cahoots today, banding together in order to make Lisgoe's life a misery. All he hoped for was that he could come and forget it all happened
The first thing he noticed was Ross Gaines, in his dressing gown (this evening seems to be looking up), pouring a glass of white wine (ah, that explains it)
"You've had it shite as well then?"
"What gave it away?"
"The wine, you only drink white when you're pissed off. I don't even think you like the taste."
"Well, you don't exactly look happy yourself." Ross took another glass from the cupboard and a bottle of red "Lucky for you, these came together. Shut up, Joseph."
"I didn't say anything!" Lisgoe grabbed the bottle and took a large gulp
"I saw the look on your face, you were going to make a dirty joke. And stop drinking out the bottle, there's a glass right there."
"I know."
"I can't stand it when you drink out of the bottle."
"I know."
"Then why do you keep doing it?"
"I have free will, dickhead!" Lisgoe retorted with a smug look as he took another swig of wine before putting it down on the counter and pulling Ross towards him "And pissing you off makes my day so much better."
"You're insufferable, you know that right?" Ross' focus darted to Lisgoe's mouth, then back to his eyes "A real pain in the arse."
"And you have the personality of a fucking dish-cloth."
Lisgoe kissed the corner of his mouth (which did not affect Ross Gaines at all), then took a step back to actually pour himself a glass of wine. He raised it up, to which Ross did the same. They then took a sip
Neither could explain why, but they started to feel a little better than they felt a few moments ago
○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○
"I told you, you need to quit!"
"I'll quit on my own terms, Joseph. I don't need you to tell me when to do things."
They were having an argument in their kitchen. Not one of their meaningless, amusing games - they were both annoyed at each other. Ross had come home with a bruised arm thanks to an altercation with Pauline, and Lisgoe had gotten mad and told him to quit on the spot. Of course, Ross tried to explain that finances meant he couldn't, and quitting would mean unemployment - which would mean Pauline had even more power over him. He had to bide his time, make a plan
Lisgoe wouldn't hear it
"Either you enjoy getting used as a punching bag or you're more of a stubborn bastard than I am! There are other jobs, and you're more qualified than any of those incompetant shites!"
"Oh, and I'm supposed to believe that's the only reason you're so against me working there?"
"... What?"
"Those... defamatory and false rumours that I had sex with her." Ross' face was smug, as if he'd cracked the Enigma Code "We both know you have a jealousy problem, are you scared it'll happen again?"
Then there was silence. If looks could kill, Ross would probably have been brutally murdered. Lisgoe could brutally murder him right now
"First of all, wipe that fucking look off your face." His voice was quiet yet sharp "Secondly, don't ever bring that up again."
"Let me live my life and I'll let you live yours."
"Sure Ross!" He snapped, clearly done with the conversation "I'll let you live your fucking life! Pauline can do what she wants with you! I'm going." With that, he was up the stairs like a bullet from a gun
Ross watched him, knowing damn well how screwed he was. When Lisgoe said something, he meant it. He wasn't going to wait for anyone to stop him, if he said he was going, he was going and gone for good. Something about that notion made him want to throw up
Before he could stop himself, he was following. Halfway up the second flight of stairs, he finally caught up and grabbed Lisgoe's wrist
"I'm not letting you leave."
It was stated like a fact, the objective truth
"Is that right?" Came the reply, dripping with malice "And what are you gonna do to stop me?"
"Nothing. I'm just not letting you leave?"
"Why's that?"
"Because I love you."
That snapped Lisgoe right out of his angered trance. His face seemed to glitch into one of shock and confusion. Is this a mind game? He thought Is he trying to mess with me? He studied Ross' demeanour: slightly tense, his muscles were contracted, but his face was earnest - like he'd told Lisgoe something that couldn't be disputed
"Why are you telling me this now? When I'm packing my shite and fucking off?"
"That's exactly it. No point hiding it now, I've been waiting for the right moment to say it for ages. I don't like using the word, it's too dangerous - too much risk of it backfiring. I'm probably not going to say it again for a long time, so make the most of this. But I know you, and I know that you meant it when you said you were going. And I don't want that."
"So you said it to get me to stay?"
"Why else does anyone say it? I know I'm not going to find someone else I can say it to and mean it, you're rare. I'm not going to love someone else the way I love you. Never. And that's unnerving."
What else do I say to that? Was the thought that immediately burst into Lisgoe's mind How does someone respond to that? In spite of himself, he started to laugh - which clearly wasn't the right response
"Joseph, why are you laughing? What are you laughing for? I'm being serious."
"I'm sorry Ross, but I can't believe you. I mean, let's look at this factually - I know you like doing that. What about me is worth loving? What even is there to like?"
What hit Ross wasn't what he'd said, it was the tone. As if he'd accepted that he was so unworthy of positive regard that the very idea of it was laughable. All he could do was listen to Lisgoe and approach it the way he knew best - factually
"You're blunt to the point of rudeness, but I only think that because you say what I need to know not what I want to hear. You have this... annoyingly fascinating way of reading body language and facial expressions that leads you into fights. But it also means you know when I want to be left alone. Basically, your 'bad parts' work in my favour."
Now neither of them knew what to say, they'd gone from being so guarded... to whatever this was
"I like-"
"Joseph, leave it."
"No, I want to-"
"I know it's awkward, you don't have-"
"Shut the fuck up!"
"Alright then."
"I like... fuck, now I've forgotten how to word it! ... you can't here someone's problems without inserting your own opinion, but it always makes sense - you look for solutions instead of bitching. You have a fucked-up, dry sense of humour, but I do too, so we laugh while everyone looks at us like we're sick. And you never like giving me the last word, you always have some kind of rebuttal. You challenge me. It makes things fun, but you always find a way to call out my bullshit. I need someone like that." Lisgoe looked down at his wrist "And I like when you let go of my wrist, which you've been gripping onto for 5 fucking minutes!"
Even more embarrassed, though he tried to hide it, Ross let go
"There's also the physical shite," Lisgoe continued with a shrug "but that's-"
Whatever he was going to say died in his throat, because Ross had pulled him into a kiss, letting his back press against the wall behind him. Lisgoe's hands were around his throat gently
"For the record," Ross' voice came out hoarse "I wasn't thinking about Pauline when I was with her."
"So it did happen," Lisgoe started to bite and kiss along his jawline "you lying bastard!"
"Maybe it did, but my mind was elswhere." He could feel his partner at his neck and tried to keep his voice steady "Some debt collector that came knocking on my door once, maybe you know him?"
"Yeah? What's his name?"
"Barry Baggs."
"Get fucked!" Lisgoe gave him a hard shove, but the laugh that followed showed he didn't take it personally
"I'd say that encapsulates your goal, wouldn't you?"
"After that, you can finish in your hand!"
Lisgoe moved up the stairs, but only made it two steps before he was pulled in again. This time, the kiss was slower, the movements less frantic and the electricity buzzing rather than sparking
Nothing else needed to be said
Pause
Summary: Studying for your exams made you beyond stressed. But Oliver knew just how to make it all better.
Warnings:Just fluff
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"I've read this sentence already....Damn,"
You sighed and passed your head into the book in defeat, feeling how heavy your head was and how a headache was about to form right in the front near your eyes. The rain was pounding outside and the fireplace was having a dying fire instead of a roaring one that you started when you first started your study session.
You wanted to be ahead of the curve when exams were right around the corner. This was the one year when it was crucial: your OWLS were decent and to have top marks in exams would be highly important for you to get a decent job when you graduated from Hogwarts next year. You are pretty fine with all of your courses, though Potions was always hard for you and Ancient Ruins was intense this year. But still, you wished to go into your exams stress free and with your head held high.
Yet now your head was sunk into your book and you were on the verge of tears.
Maybe you were studying too hard from dawn til dusk, but the lines in the books were being blurred and the definitions you knew clearly were getting jagged in your mind. You barely took a break since you were either studying or king to class, and sleep was becoming hard to come by. You were only a few days away until your first exam, and now you wanted to throw your book against the wall or not the fireplace.
"Thought I'd find ya in here," You heard behind you as you were slumping in the desk chair. You didn't move but grumbled as a calloused set of fingers were along the back of your neck and along your arms. That touch was very familiar to you, making you wish you could smile but you were too tired to do anything.
"I take it the studying is going well?" He asked, though there was no sense of a joke in his voice. You sighed and pushed yourself up from the book, looking up at Oliver Wood who was watching you with a hint of worry. He had something hidden behind his back with his other hand on your shoulder, giving it a reassuring squeeze.
"I want to set this book on fire, but I don't think Snape would like that," you said to him in groggily tone. Oliver chuckled leaning over to give your a light kiss in your hair.
"Snape is a tosser anywho, especially when he talks about suspending' me from Quidditch when I was talkin' too much in class today," He replied as he slipped your book away from you before you could take it back. You were about to argue when he placed a plate of fresh cookie in front of you instead, your eyes going big from seeing the site of the baked good that were the size of dinner plates stacked on each other.
"Merlin's Beard," You gasped as you breathed in the delicious aroma of the chocolate chips in the cookies. Oliver chuckled as he gestured to the cookies.
"You can thank the twins for these," He explained as you took one of the cookies within your fingers, "We had a Quidditch Team study session since we're all lackin' in Potions. They were able to sneak in the kitchens and make a deal with the elves down there to make their mum's recipe for cookies,"
You took a bite and a moan escaped your lips. The cookie itself was beyond delicious and delectable on your tongue, you smiling in pre joy from how good it was as you took bite after bite.
"These are amazing, Oli," You hummed as you looked up at him with a softer smile, the grumpiness that was there no longer present.
"Yeah, they uh...mentioned you were stressed lately from studying' and I wanted to come and be with ya, give ya a break," Oliver explained some more, you pausing as you placed your half eaten cookie on the plate and Oliver took your hand. He helped you up from the chair, you going willingly as he then wrapped his arms around you soothingly and with gentleness.
Maybe he knew you needed a hug, a simple hug that could make you unwind and just breathe in the familiarity that is Oliver. You loved getting hugs from him, they were always both intimate and yet calming simultaneously. Breathing in Oliver's unique scent of his broomstick polish, the cologne he would wear every once in awhile, and the fresh air from being up on his broom, it made all your problems and worries go away.
"Take a break, hun," he said to you in your hold, "Come with with me by the fire and we can just watch the rain. Okay?"
"Mkay," You mumbled into his shirt, feeling him squeeze you a bit more before he pulled you away and grinned down at you.
"Let me get that sweater you like wear while you get in your Pj's, deal?" He asked, you grinning and nodded your head as you snuck a kiss on his cheek. You both both to your dorms, on a mission to get comfortable and cozy for the rest of the night. It did feel nice to get away from a text book or a roll of parchment, letting your brain calm down and recharge as you made it to your dorm and to your dresser. Changing quickly, you got into some sweats and a loose shirt, pulling your hair in a loose ponytail and some thick socks to keep your toes from the chill before you made your way back to the common room.
You re-lit the fire again in the fireplace, making the room glow again as the rain was still pounding away along the tower roof top and stained windows. Making your way to the massive couch in front of the fireplace, you grabbed a crimson blanket that was drapped over the arm of the couch and plopping down to to place it over your legs, leaving your socks open to be warmed bye the fire. You could heard Oliver going down the stairs to be in the Common Room, sitting down next to you on the couch and holding out his sweater for you to take.
It was your favorite sweater of his that you would steal every once in awhile to wear. The fist time it happened it was on accident, you finding it out on the study desk in the common room right when you two just starting dating. Oliver left it on the chair as he was rushing to get ready for his quidditch practice, not noticing you slipping it on and almost swallowing it in because it was massive on your frame. Yet he grinned widely at you wearing his sweater, thinking you looked rather adorable.
Since then, he would always leave that sweater for you to wear when you knew you needed it.
You grinned as you threw it on, already feeling the soft fabric along your arms and neck as you got it on and sighed in both relief and satisfaction. It smelled like him, the small tear in the right sleeve near the end was familiar, even the very small stain from a butter beer that you drank while wearing the sweater last winter. It was the best sweater, all because it came from Oliver.
"Come on, hun," He hummed, placing the plate of cookies on his lap as he pulled you in his hold. You head lulled over to be on his shoulder, you two watching the fire dance in the fireplace as the rain was not showing any signs of letting up. You took another bite from another cookie as Oliver ate one of his own, the silence of the Common Room filled the air with only the cackle of the fireplace being heard and the soft winds from the rain.
It was a good break to take with Oliver, who knew you more than you knew yourself sometimes. He saw the cracks that were getting bigger and bigger and was willing to mend them before they were too big to fix. You two could lean on one another though the dire times and the times of pain, knowing fully well and deep down that this was no temporary fling.
You both were committed.
"After we're done with this year, you and me can hang out all summer and not think about school," Oliver reassured you, you nodding in agreement as you both were snuggled together on the couch, "I can show ya those tricks on the broom you've been wantin' to learn,"
"No, You've been wanting to teach them to me remember? Merely to have me sit with you on the broom," You corrected him, flicking his ear to make him laugh, "Cheeky."
"Aye, but you never said no!" Oliver reasoned. You both were chuckling and talking some more in the Common Room for the rest of the evening, leaving your studies behind and just talking about random things that were on your mind. Leave it to Oliver to tend to your mind with a plate full of cookies and a cozy sweater to bring you rest.
And rest you shall have, thanks to Oliver Wood.
The End.
Mathurin liked to consider himself a good worker. He was loyal (so long as he got a paycheque), intelligent (enough to pass most of his work off to interns), and innovative (if only in his own mind). He’d been enjoying a rather cushy lower rung management position for what was close to 7 years, and vying for a position higher than that. He felt it was owed to him.
And then, a month ago, his shots at a promotion all came tumbling down, with one fell swoop. “Clearly she slept with him.” He says, and his coworker flicks a disbelieving look at him.
“No comment.”
“She’s even living with him.”
“I don’t think Vox would hire, or give her as much control as she’s assumed if that were all it is.”
“No, no, look at her, she’s such a bitch and he seems endeared.”
“Mathurin, stay out of it.”
“Do they think we’re falling for their charade?” He says, ignoring the warnings, on a tirade. “She wore one of his shirts a week ago.”
“Yeah, on the day the entire building’s water stopped.”
“What does she even do? What does she know about this company? I’ve poured hours into this! And what does it get me?”
“Still alive?”
“Mark my words, when she stops being a bit of tits and fluff, or doesn’t fawn over him, she’ll be out! And I’ll be there… ready to show what a real man could do for this company.”
(Note: Mathurin is also the same of the patron saint of lost causes and idiots).
Normally, Vox wouldn't get involved in the office gossip, only because he usually sat in front of his screens, watching everyone talk shit about each other. But today he just so happened to be around to over hear, well, maybe not every word but enough to know where this one thought he stood.
Now, he knew damn well, Hellaina could handle this without him stepping in and he knew this guys opinion didn't matter in the slightest. It was clearly some form of jealousy. He just couldn't tell what Mathurin was more jealous of, that Hellz took his long sought after position or that she wasn't fucking him...or maybe, it was that he wasn't fucking him. It almost made him laugh to think about.
Well, who was he to deny the guy his chance to tell him just how fitting he was for the position Hellaina had so graciously 'fucked her way into'. It was only fair, right? He thought he was so much better suited for it and thought Hellaina was just a nice set of tits that kept his dick wet. If only it were that easy but if Mathurin thought he could do better, why not make him prove it? He was in a mood to fuck with someone, anyway.
Tumblr media
Chuckling, Vox dragged a claw along the desk to gain Mathurins attention, giving it a tap before folding his arms behind himself.
"....Well, if you think you'd do a better job filling her position, you could have applied. I'm always looking for an ass kisser that can sit pretty under my desk, while I'm in meetings." He grinned. "I mean, that's all Hellaina is doing, right? Maybe I do need a 'real man' to show me what he can do for 'my company'. Obviously, you'd be better suited then a lesbian that's only sleeping with me to keep her job. I suppose you would have a better offer then just keeping your job, right? Perhaps you might want to keep your life a little longer, instead?" He stated with a wave of his hand as his tone changed from menacingly cheerful to annoyed before he reached out that hand to drag the man closer.
Tumblr media
"Just because the new bitch in the building is a woman, doesn't mean she isn't every inch as qualified as you think you are. I don't have to sleep with her to know she is capable of handling her job because she didn't whine for it like you are. She actually had the balls to take it for herself, something I know a piss head like you, wouldn't have even crawled out from your mother's skirts long enough to even fucking try."
Tumblr media
"So, next time you think you belong in a position you rather cry about not having, I hope you're really good at showing me just what you can do for my company because next time, I'm going to show you exactly how you can contribute to this company... got it?" He warned as he released the other, giving him a pat on the cheek with a well deserved zap.
Tumblr media
"Now get back to work and the next time you see Hellaina in the building, you better kiss the fucking ground she walks on because she's the reason you aren't already dead. You understand me?"
