aaron is lost for half a second until he remembers what this is about. he scoffs, but goes anyway reluctantly because he had planned on going to the library to study for the next two hours and screw it if he skips lunchtime. by the time he arrives to the statue, andrew is sitting on a bench, a cigarette at his lips and a brown bag at his side. aaron recognizes the logo printed on it instantly because it’s matt’s favorite sandwich place. aaron narrows his eyes but sits by his twin. it’s a nice, sunny spring day, and the sun is shining directly on the bench.

“and here i was thinking the sun would turn you into ashes,” he says in lieu of greetings and andrew just stares at him flatly. “i have to go study, how long are we supposed to pretend?” aaron asks.

andrew doesn’t answer. he takes a drag of his cigarette and pats the empty side of the bench next to him. aaron groans. he rolls his eyes, already thinking about the time he’s going to waste sitting here but he sits anyway. without looking at him, andrew hands him the brown bag.

“eat,” he says.

aaron looks to find two sandwiches inside, one of which is his favorite. “how did you—”.

andrew levels him a look, “tick tock, time is passing. i only have one hour free, better get started.”

aaron takes the sandwich and hands the other to his brother. aaron hadn’t realized how hungry he truly was, and getting some food in his stomach is a relief. andrew busies himself methodically tearing his into small bites. they eat in silence, the sun warming aaron’s skin in the most agreeable way, until andrew surprises him.

“i bet that guy is a business major,” andrew says flatly, his eyes firmly set on a man speedwalking past them.

aaron frowns. he hesitates, takes another bite of his sandwich, then says, “political science.”

andrew considers it. “both.” aaron scoffs. of course he wouldn’t agree with him. andrew turns his attention to someone else. “computer science,” he declares while he jerks his head at a girl with purple hair and way too many pins on her backpack.

“how cliché.”

“tell me i’m wrong.”

aaron observes her for a beat longer, “you’re right.” and then aaron surprises himself when he looks at another girl wearing clothes more expensive than anything he could ever own. “this one is in law.”

andrew hums his approval. “that, or architecture.”

“maybe she majors in real estate law.”

“could be.”

they continue like this for all of andrew’s break, their sandwiches long gone. it becomes easier after a while, and when andrew starts inventing the most ridiculous ideas about the people they watch walking by them, aaron finds himself laughing more than once. he is almost certain the corners of andrew’s lips quirks upward once or twice after aaron gets into the game as well, but he doesn’t say anything about it. they part ways once the hour is up, and when the next tuesday aaron gets another text from his brother to meet him at the exact same spot, aaron never walked faster to get to him.

GOD. ok so. I've always enjoyed the concept of body horror, not all the way, but it looked cool in art! But! Recently Symbrock (and Venom as a whole) has turned that up to 100- both in a "Wow! Cool alien creature biting people's heads off! >:D" way, but also in a "The goo is in his organs, his tissue, his cells... how romantic!" way.

And, if you'll excuse me, I'll only be talking about my (limited) knowledge/headcanons with Symbrock because I haven't read all the comics yet so this is all with Eddie and the Venom Symbiote in mind-

Firstly, I don't think I've ever seen anyone mention how the Symbiote can enter/exit it's Host's body through their skin, without damaging the Host. There's no wounds, just the easy slide in between layers of cells, Venom can be as solid as they want but can also come together so seamlessly, its like watching someone fold a deck of cards.

Even on a psychological standpoint, the idea of actually being "Venom". Singular. Not "We" are Venom. But the idea of two beings, from different sides of the universe, coming together perfectly as one being, one mind, one consciousness. A bit of an OC ramble, I have this OC that goes into this idea of acting as one being and I'll talk about them later but WOAH is it fun. The sheer intimacy of it.. not losing your own self, but simply combing it with another to create something- someone new.

Ok onto the actual body horror-

I am not normal about the Symbiote literally being in Eddie's blood. Blood is everywhere in the body, anywhere you poke, blood will come out- and in that, the Symbiote, ready to heal the wound.

Speaking of healing wounds, and also this post because I keep rereading it, it makes me ill, the Venom Symbiote truly sees it's Host as it's home. and that does something to me. The way it keeps the body healthy, like how you would clean your house, no longer having to worry about illnesses or infections; how it heals any injuries, like fixing a broken wall, repainting it, like there was no damage in the first place.

Knowing it's home so well, able to know what's wrong and how to make it right. Complete and utter devotion to it's beloved home, the one that keeps it safe, willingly, lovingly let's it- wants it inside to keep it safe. To know that something that could tear apart planets if it so wanted to, something that bares it's rows of teeth as a natural expression, something that has destroyed countless lives- to know something like that gently rests in the space between your organs because it wants to. And how much you want it to too.

And this goes both ways too! When they're Venom and get hurt, they way the Symbiote peels away from the body is.. its amazing that the Symbiote can be torn away from it's Host. When Eddie gets hurt, the Symbiote comes out, from inside- When Venom gets hurt, instead of blood or organs, it's Eddie at the center, but he acts as the same anyways. Eddie is the Symbiote's life, he is it's heart, carefully tucked away and protected.

Even though Eddie doesn't particularly enjoy eating people's brains, he comes up with a compromise for the 2 of them anyways, he buys tons of chocolate for it to eat too, and that adds up for a guy that is living in a one room flat. and AND AND I will never get over how, in LTBC, Venom leaves all the red m&m's, because the red dye is said to be harmful to humans in large amounts, so even though it's one of the few things it needs to live, it refuses it to keep Eddie- it's Host- it's home safe.

and, I mean, Venom totally could eat Eddie if it so wanted to, in the first movie, Eddie's literally going through.. several organ failures- but Venom puts him back together, back better! and i am suddenly ill-

excuse my weird ideas but hhhhhh Eddie being torn apart and put back together..... yeah. how much trust is needed for that? how much love is shown from letting it consume his flesh and bones, from it eating the thing it loves the most, from it knowing every ridge and curve of every organ and cell to put everything back where it was?

how much love is needed to destroy something, to be destroyed, and come back together?

This, too, can go both ways, I am a big fan of swapping how Eddie and Venom and portrayed, both in canon and in fanon, just for the fun of it- and I'm just saying... let Eddie tear apart the Symbiote! maybe Eddie wants to rip it apart with his teeth and bare hands! Let them fight and rip each other apart, but with love <3 (oh fight/sparring scenes between friends/lovers, how i love you so)

you can't really see it well, and i'll make a better show of it later, but my design for (movie) Eddie has sharp teeth and that isn't for no reason. I.... ADORE the idea that, after being Venom for so long, Eddie starts adapting parts of them into his "normal" body- sharper teeth, clouded eyes, maybe even some of his skin is pitch black too, just because it makes him feel like Venom in his everyday life, even a little bit.

ough i need to lay down after that but- THANK YOU so much for asking me this, this was such a treat to let out, it's like a weight has been lifted off me lmao

i'll probably have more on this topic later on, but i'll probably use those ideas for art/writing, i love thinking about them :3

I was thinking about some of my old friends in my old highschool on the men's swim team and how they would shave their legs to go faster in the water.

i picture poseidon - wild and untamed as he is - being a hairy guy. not like in a gross animal way (ares, however…) but just like having the most chest hair, facial hair, and arm/leg hair out of the big 3. hades doesn’t have a single body hair on his paper-white being. zeus would have an average amount, but manscapes (in a magical god-like way), and then brags about his ‘neatness’ 🙄. poseidon doesn’t give a fuck. he rocks his flip flops and bermuda shorts and hawaiian shirts with the top buttons undone - chest hair showing.

and i think their kids are the same way. 16/17 year old percy, i feel like had more chest hair (i repeat, not an absurd amount) than most of the other guys his age. he totally teases his friends on his swim team (“it’s ok boys! you’ll be a man like me one day!”). i think he has to start shaving his face at a young age - which sally teaches him - and as an adult he has to shave pretty much every day to stay clean-shaven. (which is why i think adult percy usually has stubble/short beard). and if he were a normal person, he probably would shave his legs for swim team. except, he doesn’t need to. he can swim exactly as fast as he wants (like at mach 5, for instance.) and actually has to purposefully slow down. so shaved legs = not necessary.

and if anyone is thinking “i can’t imagine percy with chest hair and facial hair.” first off all, probably because you’re thinking of 14 year old percy. second, well, do you imagine poseidon all bare and hairless? probably not. you probably imagine him with a beard (canon) and a healthy amount of chest hair and arm/leg hair. and percy inherited his physical features, so he’s bound to be the same.

Oh gods, I love and adore the new update! My new grey horse Dust (bc it will leave them in the dust, is grey and unassuming at first glance, but also pure diamond) is already a favorite, even if my MC is slightly afraid of horses and not very good at riding. Aretas offering PRIVATE RIDING LESSONS and MC making not even one dirty joke to Merikh about it shows how serious the tension is, though. The cliffhanger is just mean, bc we don't get to sass big bad brother back. Not even a "you smell better, don't worry about me leaving you for him, wow he looks like a paler imitation of you".... I just imagined letting Desma loose on miserable big bro Labadon, but somehow that feels like bullying. ... Is that on purpose? He feels so arrogant and desperate to put down the bastard child, that it feels a little pitiful and insecure instead of evil, though I of course dislike and disdain him a normal and healthy amount, for his crime of a personality. But back to the important bits, Aretas is being smooth right back and I wasn't sure he'd have it in him. But so worth it, bc I already got a shovel talk from his mom! (a pretty mild one for now, thanks Teacher Alim) Aretas looking pained at Daddy Labadon's grand speech about his father's supposed greatness and aspirations and unsubtle attempt at baiting his king was greatly appreciated and the option that simply says "Blame Merikh" when asked why we couldn't ride? It was so .. tempting, I don't know how anyone can choose another. It's just such an impulse control defying little red button that all imp MCs just HAVE to press. And the reaction did not disappoint in the slightest! I laughed so hard! And then it got better, bc Merikh is just as clueless as you and my MC is learning that omg, he's actually just a grumpy little good boy. You just gotta adopt him. Sorry Sutek, sullen grumpy warrior slots are filling up really fast... I also loved cheering for Sefu and Sefu being so friggin POLITE and well behaved. I love when they show that they can be mature and competent at the same time as being total loving idiots. Desma feeling insecure was really hurting my kokoro, but then it got funny again when she asked "but are they REALLY brothers, how can we ever know?" Never change, best sister girl, my MC will steal horses with you and bury bodies. Their own horse, but probably other people's bodies. I do feel a tiny bit worried about Tamu being alone and trying to find the guild traitor preparing a take over without backup, though. Please let him be ok or at least let Gally have his back a little! This whole update had so much comedy potential with the right choices, it was a delight to read and totally worth staying up till after midnight! This is a super fun idea omg thank you! I’m still going to go with the whole owner/pet angle since this is Asa, I hope that’s ok! It will still be domestic but with the dynamic too💗

Asa doesn’t have much time to cook regularly, constantly caught between lecturing at the local uni about a twenty minute drive away and keeping up with his collection at the hotel.

On days when Asa has free time or is just determined to get something nutritious in his stomach he dusts off his recipe book he bought on a whim on discount and gets to work.

Asa likes to think he has a pretty good repertoire of kitchen skills, not exactly a five star chef but better than most men his age.

He prefers to centre either meat or fish in his meals, usually covered in a flavourful marinade or rubbed down in herbs and spices. Asa enjoys vegetables to be steamed as opposed to boiled, he thinks it makes them taste sweeter and softer, texture is important to him. Flavoured rice is always a good side.

He’s more fond of sweets than you think he would be judging from his standoffish appearance. Dessert is a must, Asa tells himself it’s all part of a balanced diet and he can’t skip it because it wouldn’t be right. In reality he just really wants the apple pie, enjoying the tartness of it and unable to deny himself this simple pleasure.

And then there’s you. Asa has always been one to care for his pets to the best of his ability, keeping their meals on a schedule. Even if he’s short on time meals will be prepared a day or two prior and put in the freezer. He’s stubborn when it comes to making the meals balanced, often erring on the side of health obsessed when it comes to his pets, like a dad telling you to finish your vegetables before you can have dessert. He’s not too bothered if he has to throw a microwave meal on and eat that when he comes home late but he always likes to make sure you have something good for you available. This doesn’t mean he doesn’t bring home takeout sometimes, he loves how excited you get at the junk food and the way you flop down on his lap afterwards, letting him rub your tummy as you try to stop feeling bloated.

Dinner is made as you watch from the floor on your dog bed, head resting on your folded arms, watching your master fondly but also a little impatient and hungry. Occasionally Asa humours you and wears the frilly apron you begged him to order under the guise of you wearing it, only to present it to him with puppy eyes at dinner that night. He’s a strict and sadistic owner but he can be a total dork.

“Dinners ready. Come”. Asa snaps his fingers and points to the three metal bowls on the floor near to the dining table, one bowl next to his seat. The two large German Shepard’s ears perk at this and they scamper over, sitting at Asa’s heals, tails wagging. He looks at you expectantly as you crawl over and join the dogs at his feet.

The two metal bowls are filled with a measured amount of dog kibble and wet food, water on the side. The two dogs eye the bowls twitchily. He raises his hand, all fingers laid flat for the dogs to see. “Wait” the dogs sit sternly in front of their master using all their restraint to not dig in until given permission. “Go ahead” he chuckles and the dogs immediately dig in, he pats over their heads with an affectionate smile and moves back to the granite counter, filling the final metal bowl with a healthy mix of seasoned vegetables, rice and finally chopped bites of beef, all in a Korean sauce. He plates the same onto his dish and takes it to the table, sliding onto the wooden chair and groaning at the relief it takes off his weary joints.

Asa places the final bowl on the floor next to his chair and click his fingers again, pointing to the bowl. “Come” without question you crawl over to the bowl, eyes switching between the delicious food in front of you and your master, waiting for permission. Wearing a smug and smitten look back at you he finally clicks again. “Go ahead, pet” he chuckles lowly as you start to eat from the bowl, used to using only your mouth as your utensil at this point. He leans forward and tucks a strand of hair behind your ear that was falling into the sauce. “Messy pup”

But considering our track record with Asmodeus not thinking lust should be forced and Beelzebub not encouraging overindulgence or overindulgence for the wrong reasons (when she tells Loona "like hey he a mess and killing the vibe k?”)  

(Also, I feel like the Asmodeus thing is a damned if you do damned if you don't thing honestly there was no winning with this one viv would have gotten flamed either way. I don’t have a gripe with it either way  )  

Are the sinners worse than them? Like Valentino is an abuser and uses angle dust and others for his body in more ways than one. Alastor is allegedly a cannibal (can that be seen as gluttony or some other sin? Other than it being morality wrong to eat people), angel overuses drugs, husk drink to an excess Yada Yada Yada  

....so, like who are the real demons?

I am very aware expecting Viv to give us correct demon mythos is a tall order and not realistic at all, but I don’t think we can stay any farther from the 7 deadly sins in their basic boiled down forms, you know? Like money, anger, ego, sex, food, lazy, and jealously.  

They are demons! You can have kind and sweet demons like minion from the Cuphead show he's a sweet heart but he still encourages the devil to be the devil  

Or even king dice (not a demons but a bad person he works for the devil) he has sympatric qualities but he's still a bad guy. Same with the devil too if you look hard enough  

They are still demons people have a negative connotation with them why not make them morally gray? Like “you can cut some guys arm off if both parties are into it, I don’t care just ask first” that would be kinda funny. But also, he values consent to a fault he doesn’t care about them being safe but as long as you asked its fine.

Like I feel like her people are the hell born like her, the deadly sins, the imps, the succubus and so on 

You know her people the demons and junk who are like her kin of sort?

Also why is over population such a problem? It seems like a fitting punishment to me if there's limited space seems like a good thing, no?  

Are they not here to suffer?  

Also why not just allow the sinners to wander the other rings? Why are they only in pride?  

What's the point of the other rings? Why are they named after sins if they aren't going to be used by the sinners?

ok people. i really don't want to have to be saying this but i am once again being struck by the lack of etiquette in the byler fandom and just in current fandom in general so i just. have to say something ok

first off i'm gonna say that fandoms come from a place of love and i know everyone most people have good intentions and love their fic authors but the etiquette around fics and art and all that lovely stuff is,, how shall we put it,, literally nonexistent.

listen. i love writing fic. i love that people like reading my fics that's insane hello?? i love getting comments and kudos and getting messages from ppl who are excited about my future projects it's great!!!

that being said, when i receive messages asking when things will be out/comments on wip wednesday snippets asking if the fic is out yet/messages asking me to tag them when the fic is published, regardless of how good the intentions are it comes off as very demanding and doesn't make me feel good as a writer who is doing this Voluntarily and For Free.

fanfic writers do this for fun!! we are not machines, we are people with our own lives outside of fandom and those lives have to take priority most if not all of the time. this means that yes!! sometimes fics take a while to write!! sometimes chaptered fics take a while to update!! and guess what?? that is totally ok. fanfic writers taking their time is not a bad thing. it means they care and are taking their time to create quality content. it means that they are spending time tending to their real personal lives, which is a normal and healthy thing to do.

there are plenty of posts about why demanding faster updates is bad, and i think that's pretty common knowledge, but i want to talk specifically about these very enthusiastic comments/messages/etc because i don't think anyone means harm but the thing is that fic authors simply do not owe you anything. we don't owe it to you to let you know when a fic will be out, we don't owe it to you to tag you when it is, and we definitely don't owe it to you to provide information that you can easily find out for yourself. as a writer i'm already putting insane amounts of pressure on myself and receiving it from other people, even if that's not the intention, is just not a good feeling.

especially because much of this information is readily available to you!! while you may not be able to find out when a fic will be out (which is probably because the fic author doesn't know either), you are entirely capable of checking the timestamp on a post to see how old it was, then using a little thing called Critical Thinking Skills to determine whether it's likely the fic has been posted or not. if so then great!! most authors have their ao3 accounts linked somewhere on their blog page so YOU (yes, you!!) can go look for the fic on ao3!! if you don't find it, ao3 has a super cool feature where you can subscribe to an author, so you'll get an email notification whenever they post!! and while you're there, if you're truly desperate for something to read, you can always go through the fics they've already posted, and if you've read everything there already and/or they haven't posted anything yet, check their bookmarks and see if there's anything there you like!! and as a last resort, there's always the trusty old search bar on ao3, which you are capable of filtering to every last preference!! the byler fandom is huge and there are tons of fics out there so undoubtedly something will fit your taste.

i know that can feel daunting, and i know it's disappointing when a fic hasn't been posted or updated yet, but the good news is that if you're seeing a snippet it means the author is working on it!! a little patience never hurt anyone, and taking those steps to determine for yourself what's going on with the fic rather than bugging an author who is just trying to go about their life and work on content during whatever free time they have just proves that you care. the simple fact of the matter is that fic authors don't do this for attention, they do it for fun, and therefore we can't cater everything to you or answer questions that you should find the answers to yourself. it's not our responsibility to keep track of people who want to be tagged when a fic is published or want to know when it will be out, because all our energy is going into creating the content you so desperately want!! i'm just begging everyone to be a little bit independent. asking an author for this information just shows you don't care enough to find it for yourself and this sort of laziness is part of why fandoms die.

tldr: fic authors are not machines designed to please you, use some critical thinking once in a while, and please for the love of GOD just go touch grass. breathe some clean air. you'll feel better i promise

To answer your ask, Alastor wouldn't be surprised but he would a bit hurt that Vox didn't tell him. Alastor knows that it's important to keep secrets in Hell so it isn't taken advantage of- but Alastor feels hurt that Vox didn't trust him with that information.

Vox is always drowning in work. Even having Papermint doesn't help usually because Papermint's powers aren't as expansive as Vox, and he can only do so much as a sinner. Vox would rely heavily on sleeping meds to get a healthy amount of sleep so as not to stress out Alastor.

Vox and Alastor would talk it over and Vox would tell Alastor that he did trust him, he just didn't want Alastor to stress over his issues while Alastor would politely remind Vox that they are partners and that Vox's burdens are his. Vox would feel comfortable enough to take them around Alastor instead of hiding it and raises a huge load off his shoulder.

I'm the anon that sent the ask that inspired the heteronormativity rant and I just wanted to say that I agree with EVERYTHING you said. It's like you read my mind lol. I do think there's definitely something to the idea that you can tell who is familiar with queer culture and who isn't by how they perceive dnp and their relationship. I'm glad you said that open relationships are more common in mlm relationships. I got hate for saying that during the WAD era lol. It's really not a jump to say that dnp might be ENM when one half of the relationship spent 2 years constantly talking about hooking up with other men, but for some reason anything other than a total dismissal was considered homophobic.

While we're talking about heteronormativity, let's also talk about people's insistence on dnp getting married and having kids. Dan even talked about this in Dystopia Daily. How as soon as they got a house people were like "Ok great. Now get a dog and get married". I think that this is what Dan meant when he asked us not to get mad when their reality doesn't fit our fantasies. Like they might not want to get married. They might have sex with other people sometimes. They might not be as cutesy as we imagine or fit the roles that we think they should have. This new era seems to be about breaking down the misconceptions we have of them and their relationship before they open the door and I think that will probably continue at TIT.

as for dan’s femininity being exaggerated, he definitely has embraced the more feminine sides of himself in recent years but i cannot emphasize enough how that barely scratches the surface of what’s considered feminine in queer culture, specifically gay man culture. and dan from a decade ago? 2014 swaggy dan in his snapbacks and graphic tees was not feminine, he was a geek chic nerd boy. the majority of the ultra feminine dan narrative in the early years was projection.

i’m going on another tangent under the cut

i love phwedding hill mostly because i think weddings are a fun party that celebrates love and just in general i love an event, but i don’t think marriage is something they realistically have on their radar or necessarily desire or require at all - which is really okay and common in queer relationships. it wasn’t legal for us to marry our partners for a very long time so our concepts of long lasting commitment and love is different from that of het couples. choosing not to get married doesn’t mean the relationship is any less serious or committed than that of a married couple.

they’ve lived together for 14 years, likely have been dating for the whole 15, a ring and a party will not change the day to day of their relationship in any meaningful way or change what they mean to each other. heteronormativity plays a part but it’s also a cultural leaning towards traditionalism. you’ve been together for an ‘appropriate’ amount of time, you bought a house together and share a mortgage, now it’s time to get engaged and after an ‘appropriate’ amount of time get married, then have children, raise children, etc. and that’s not them, not once in their entire 15 years of being in the public eye have they followed tradition - so why would they start now?

there’s been an argument i’d seen floating around saying that the reason why they’re not married is because of dan’s commitment issues but i disagree. even if for some reason fear of commitment was dan’s motivator for not getting married, phil wasn’t raised with traditionalist values and that would also play a role in not feeling a need to get married. martyn and cornelia have been together for over a decade and have a child together, and they’re still not married. the lesters have never portrayed themselves as ones for conformity and traditionalism.

getting off topic again but i think that one part of the issue with only experiencing queer culture through social media is that it’s very very easy to get sucked into queer traditionalist echo chambers when you haven’t unlearned traditionalist heteronormative values, and think that is the set expectation for queer relationships (and tbh all relationships in general). there are a few lesbian couple influencers that i actually despise because they have commoditized their traditionalist relationships and turned them into something scary and surreal, like over the course of three years both of these couples went from home ownership to engagement to marriage to baby #1 then baby #2 which is an arguably unhealthily fast progression of these things, filmed and set up in a way that’s like their relationships are a show and we need to keep watching for the next season of traditionalist marriages. and if you don’t have experience with queer communities outside of the internet (and i specify queer here because our communities most commonly have nontraditional relationships), it’s very easy to see a couple of accounts like that and feel reaffirmed in your expectations that all relationships have to be like this.

i really hope they continue to share more of their lives with us and that they live their truths as happily and comfortably as they can, and i hope that we as a community can unlearn the values that are doing nothing but hurting us and each other.

not typically, theres some weird thing with my head where i kind of hate that it counts my comments in the total comment amount. i cant explain it i just dont like how it looks, plus just repeating variations of "thank you!!" feels hollow after a while. im more likely to answer direct questions about the story rather than general commentary i do love talking about my thought process and intentions

ok so i cant actually tell you this because none of those fics are Done yet but all you need to know is that i consider all of my TLT fics tragedies to some extent. take that as you will. i dont even Like the word angst really it portends a level of melodrama id like to avoid

I'd say its a dead tie between A Brief Lesson In The Occult and Shit. Let’s Build A Fort. i can barely look at these anymore and if you read them and feel compelled to tell me you like them: dont. i can do better now

never to my knowledge has anyone ever publicly disliked one of my fics. in fact sometimes i dream about someone posting it in their discord group chat and making fun of it because im so curious about what theyd say

yes i have. i do it almost exclusively as satire or character analysis as i find like, the physicality of sex to be inherently kind of goofy. liek the second you have to describe a dick or boobs with words the magic is gone it just becomes weird silly looking flesh. so i like focusing on weird and bad sex, unsatisfying or clumsy sex. sex that changes you in no significant way

10. Do you write crossovers?

yes i have. A Brief Disappearance and Statement of David Wong are both TMA/JDATE crossovers and i DID write a homestuck/TMA crossover but its not on my ao3 i guess? odd

after asking some friends theyve told me im good at tone, prose, funny metaphors, and dialogue but a caveat for the last thing as "I have yet to see how your Own guys talk and how you'd handle distinct voices from scratch so I'm only giving you about 80%"

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

i hate like. writing Around the important bits of a scene. i love the physicality of characters and what it reveals about them, along with pieces of the scene the narration deems important or interesting enough to mention to the audience. but im always worried im jsut fucking yapping. also i hate like, political scenes theres a rhythm to them that i dont quite understand. people sitting around using specific language that Feels important in a way that doesnt make it clear im bullshitting like 99% of what theyre talking about

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

AHAH. GOD. i actually looked this up the other day because theres an original story i want to write where i want to make it clear theyre basically speaking french the whole time, even though its written in english. i only speak english (i took some french in hs, its left me though i want to pick it up again) so i wouldnt know anything about how it reads to polyglots but i guess theres really only so much you can do outside of literally learning a new language just to write a story for free. ive seen a whole host of tips so i gues sit just matters how you employ them

Homestuck. my only regret is that i wasnt a better writer

i am entirely convinced that if you took tged and just replaced the scene where he gets married to alicia to be the one where he gets married to javier the plot would not only feel wayyy too coherent to be straight, it would probably make MORE sense and be MORE satisfying that way... i'm just saying...

mmmgghhhh!!! listen!! ok listen!!! i didn't mention it in this post because i was trying to focus on the focus that,,, the novel itself didn't need a romantic subplot because the emotional weight is already being carried by lloyd and javier's relationship (along with a healthy dose of lloyd&arcos&marbella) so it would've been perfectly fine for it to remain completely platonic and it still would've made perfect sense without the need to shove an unnecessary romantic subplot that added almost nothing,,,

but on the other hand!! it would also make total sense for lloyd and javier to end up together in the end! like!!! c'mon!!! they are!!! so much!! they're perfect as best friends don't misunderstand me! but they could've also been perfect as a couple!! their story would've made just as much sense had it been romantic and not platonic!!

and listen if in the scene where javier (and i will never get tired of saying this) crosses literal universes to get to lloyd those two had kissed i would've totally screamed but also not been nearly as surprised as i probably should've been.

because the way their story is written,,, it would've made just as much sense as letting them remain friends.

now, do i think the story makes more sense if lloyd and javier are in love? not necessarily, i think platonic relationships can and often are just as strong as romantic ones, so them being best friends does more than enough to justify their actions through the plot.

do i think lloyd and javier ending up as a couple makes more sense than lloyd and alicia? yes, absolutely, a hundred percent, no doubt kajdhfkdas

like,,, you cannot build the foundation of your entire story on the relationship between two guys and how much they care and love each other and then,,,, make a completely different relationship between one of the guys and one of the female side characters be the core of your happy ending,,,, like,,,, it makes,,, no sense,,, there's a disconnect between those things!! that wouldn't exist if you just dared to make your protagonist fall in love with each other!! like their relationships is already the heart of your story, why not allow it to also be part of the happy ending if you're that committed to needing a romantic relationship be part of it????

and i guess that's my issue. like i don't think the novel needs a romance to make more sense or be more satisfying, but if it has to have one, then it made more sense for it to be lloyd and javier considering they were already the core and emotional slowburn of the entire thing.

(but also yeah lloyd spends a ridiculous amount of time talking about how hot javier is it's so funny lmao)

I always just love little behind the scenes looks! Seeing insight to NIL stuff was cool. And I get they dont really have to, but it always slays me that these athletes cant really cook!And I thought it was a really good mix of players with them all being prominent but very different individuals. CC bias was predictable but also logical given Iowa had another run to the title game. I was mostly bothered by the amount of time we had her bf on screen. Like I get thats a significant other, but why are we hearing from this dude constantly? He just didnt really offer anything for the audience as a narrator imo. Also the others just may not be in relationships, but it seemed an odd choice given that just family members were featured otherwise for everyone. Cardoso's journey was really interesting to me. I wasnt aware of all of her tough family circumstances back home. Makes me feel good for her success. And Kiki.. honestly kinda just blindsided by how attractive she is and realization of who her aunt was! (Really brought home the fact that I dont get to watch enough west coast bball lol)

AHHH TWIN! The Liberty (please don't embarrass me against the Sky again) and Sun are my two main teams this season so tbh I very much was not rooting for Indiana at all but now? We are Fever fans on this page (that hurt to write actually).

This. Is the thing I'm genuinely contemplating contacting the artist to ask if they'd be fine with me using it for a tattoo. Bc it's like. Well, roses are my favorite flower. But then also the message. Create your own sunshine. Feels like that's what I've been doing the past however long, ykno? Trying to find what joys I can in life, however small. It just feels rly personally meaningful to me. And it's such a lovely compact design, perfect for a tattoo... & I was thinking of getting it on my inner left forearm, turned towards me. So that I can easily see it. A tattoo for me.

Of course, I gotta clear it with the artist first, & I'm gonna give it at least a few days of thought so it's not so impulse. I just really, really like it
