*♡Happy Father's Day - Chan
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
MINORS DNI 18+ ONLY membership // m.list
pairing: single dad! Chan x afab reader
warnings: fingering, lots of mouth sounds, angst (if you squint your eyes)
I’ll tell him about you.
Your friend had an adorable three year old. A loud, sticky, energetic three year old. But adorable nonetheless. You had a pretty regular babysitting gig going. A few people around your neighborhood had talked and heard about your services and now you were basically a seasoned vet when it came to entertaining toddlers.
But your friend was a full time stay-at-home mom now and could watch her own adorable, sticky three year old. And now you needed another spot to fill those last bit of monthly bills. So she said there was a new dad at the preschool that seemed like he was struggling. “Struggling”, she said in air quotes. You agreed and asked her to give this new dad your information. Even though you mostly worked with the mothers, money was money.
A few days passed and eventually your phone rang, an unknown number flashing on the screen.
“Hello?”
“Uh, yeah. Hi. This is Chan. The.. uh.. Dad from Sunnyvale Preschool? I was told you could help me out with babysitting?”
He sounded nervous, or maybe he was just a shy person. Maybe he hated talking on the phone. But did his voice sound sexy? There was a deep, velvety smoothness to the way he spoke. Even between the stutters and pauses. You lingered for a moment, lost in the thought of that voice of his.
“Are you still there?” His voice pierced through your eardrum.
“Shit. Sorry, yeah. I’m here. And yes, I am available. Do you have time this week to set up a meet and greet?” your voice quickly went into customer service mode, knowing exactly what to say, memorizing the script you had made for yourself months ago.
THe two of you agreed on a time and day and said your goodbyes. You took a deep breath and tried to forget the way the sound of his voice made you feel. And you prayed all night that he didn’t look as good as he sounded.
Soon, you found yourself at the front door of Chan’s house. An expansive four bedroom home with one of those driveways that was nearly at a ninety degree angle. The door itself was large with two thin lines of stained glass running vertically down the front. A wooden WELCOME sign layed lazily against the door. A novelty sign you could buy as a last minute purchase at a hardware store. The front door clicked open and Chan stood in the doorway, child on his hip.
“Come on in,” He said warmly, arm gesturing for you to walk inside, “Did you find the place okay?”
Inside was a long staircase leading up to the bedrooms, a chandelier hanging from the top floor and swinging down gracefully into the foyer where the three of you stood. Past the stairs was a long hallway that led to the living room and an open floor plan kitchen. Windows surrounded the rooms in a sunlit blanket that made the whole house seem as if it was holding its arms out to you, embracing you.
The three of you sat down on the sectional couch in the living room. You sat on one end, while Chan and the small child sat together on the other corner. Chan introduced the small girl as Lilly. She clung to Chan tightly, her small, chubby finger gripping onto his shirt as if it were a lifeline. You smiled at Lilly and introduced yourself to her. You held eye contact with only her and asked her about some of her favorite things. You had learned over the years that children appreciated when you spoke to them like you understood them. Like everything they said was important, because to you it was. Lilly lit up and talked excitedly about some of her favorite books, jumping at the opportunity to show you. She ran to her room and hastily returned with a few small books. One was about animals, another was about a tractor that made a new friend. You exclaimed in amazement at Lilly’s amazing books. She was smart and she was quiet, but you could tell she was very well loved.
Chan watched the two of you talk about books and the different noises that animals make. It had been a long time since he had seen Lilly open up to someone so quickly. It made his heart feel full to burst, seeing the way you interacted with his daughter.
“You’re hired.” Chan said as you started to walk out of the door. His sudden decision startled you, usually it took most parents to call a few days after the meet and greet. You smiled warmly at Chan, giving him a firm handshake. The two of you quickly made a schedule of the days you would be working and before you knew it, you were in the routine with him.
Months went by with the three of you falling into this routine. You knew exactly when Chan would get home, you knew the foods that Lilly liked to eat, with her tastes changing by the week. You knew when to have dinner on the table and when to have Lilly in bed. And there was comfort there. A comfort in Chan coming home, in making a meal for him. You loved Lilly, and you couldn’t ignore this role that you were easing into.
“Happy Father’s Day!”
Chan walked in the door to find you greeting him with balloons and a cake on the dining room table. Lilly ran to Chan and squeezed his leg. You stood by the balloons and cake, waiting for his reaction. But for a moment he just stood there. Then, he picked Lilly up, propping her on his hip and walked towards you, embracing you with his free arm. He pulled you in close and whispered a soft thank you against your neck. As he pulled back from the hug, the two of you lingered there for a moment, caught heavily in the tension building thick between you. Later that evening, you walked back downstairs from putting Lilly to bed. You entered the kitchen to see Chan cleaning off the rest of the plates and silverware, blue frosting speckled on forks and spoons alike.
“I hope the cake wasn’t too much,” You spoke softly, moving towards Chan at the sink, “It was Lilly’s idea, she really wanted a cake.”
Chan chuckled softly at the thought of his daughter begging for a cake, with only blue frosting, blue being her current favorite color.
“It was perfect,” Chan stopped washing dishes and turned towards you, “you’re perfect.” Chan slowly moved his hands from the warm sink water, to your waiting waist. His fingers crept along your stomach and landed flush along your back, pulling you close to his body. You gasped at the sudden movement, but your body reacted reflexively to his touch. He took you by the hips and propped you up on the kitchen counter. He moved in towards your legs, spreading them open, making room for him. He gripped your thigh with his large hand and pulled it up and around his waist. Your eyes burned bright at his brazen actions as you wrapped your hands around the back of his neck, pulling him into a deep, possessive kiss. Chan forcefully glides his tongue into your mouth, letting it graze across your teeth. You let out a soft gasp as you feel his tongue slide inside, sending a shiver up your spine. You open your mouth wider for him, letting your tongues tangle together in a slow, sensual dance. You press against Chan, craving more of his touch, desperate for it.
He lets his hand fall lazily down your chest, then your stomach. He easily unclasps the button of your pants and lets his hand slip inside. The rush of warmth from his hand causes your head to fall back, your back arching at his every movement. A low growl escapes from inside Chan’s chest seeing how responsive you are to his touch. He lets his teeth graze lightly along the skin of your neck while his fingers trace hypnotic circles around the entrance of your cunt. He can feel how wet you already are for him and it causes something feral to happen in his brain. He buries his fingers deeper inside you, the sudden impact and pressure causing you to squirm and squeal pathetically in his strong arms.
A small, faint cry comes from the top of the stairs and suddenly the two of you snap back into parent mode. The sound of Lilly’s tiny voice pushing all other thoughts and feelings aside. The two of you run upstairs to find Lilly in her bed, crying from a nightmare.
Chan melts instantly at the sight of his daughter safely lying in her bed, instantly thinking the worst may have happened. He sits on the bed with her and holds her close. He consoles her and reminds her that dreams cannot hurt her, he reassures her that he is here to protect her. That he will always be here for her. But as he speaks, he looks at you too. He looks at you as if he wanted you to hear what he was saying as well, like he was speaking to you and Lilly. That you were both important to him. As if he wanted to protect you too. And love you too. You gave Chan a small nod, so he knew you understood. You loved him too. And you would protect both of them with your whole heart.

sneaking out of heaven
ft. leon kennedy x fem!reader
part one, part two
cw: 18+ content, religious guilt, sexually repressed reader, allusions to abusive parents
a/n: i'm soooo nervous about this one lmao... will be smut eventually, but part of is kinda just... setting things up, yay!! not really sure how to tag this part either, so sorry if i missed anything :// title from the waterparks song of the same name <3
word count: 1.3k words
Tumblr media
Growing up in the church offered you the only sliver of normalcy in your childhood. Your father, the pastor, was a strict man. He'd always made his expectations of you clear, and you were not one to go against his teachings. After all, his words were the extension of the words of God, as he had made abundantly clear.
You'd never been to a public school, and living in such a small town meant you were not subjected to things that most young girls were. Your father favoured it. This way, he could ensure his daughter stayed free of temptation. That she would be safe under his watchful eye, and never stray from the teachings of God.
Still, in the Church, you felt at home. In God's eyes, all men were created equal. You felt like you had some semblance of free will, less trapped under your father's thumb. As long as you devoted your life to God, you would be safe. He would provide for you, and you'd be able to leave this town.
This did not mean you did not miss the things that most teenagers got to experience. Fiddling around with the computer your dad allowed you for home-schooling purposes and finding incognito mode was something that instantly fed into your curiosity. Your dad couldn't monitor what you were doing, and it made you feel more comfortable to explore.
You never ventured too far, of course. It was as though you felt God Himself would strike you down if you looked at something you shouldn't. No, all you did was watch teen dramas with your volume muted late at night when you knew your father was asleep. You read the subtitles as you watched, fascinated by the idea of partying and going out. Having fun. Being free.
You couldn't help but imagine what it would be like to speak with someone your own age. This town was filled with old folks, and those who had kids all seemed to decide to have them a good ten or so years before or after you were born, so you were left being the only teenager there.
As you got older, the need to spread your wings and leave the nest only grew. Your father got stricter, roped you into more church duties. Anything to keep your curious mind wandering too much.
That was until the Kennedys moved into town.
Along with them came a boy, only a few years older than you. You could feel the tension in your father's body as you stood next to him while greeting them after they attended their first Sunday Mass there.
Their son, Leon, stood behind them looking incredibly uninterested. It was as if your father could sense what the boy would do to your mind, how he'd plague your thoughts late and night when you were all alone. You shook his hand that day, and that contact alone was enough to cause your downfall.
As you lay in bed that night, you felt the devil claw his way into the corner of your mind. He made his home there, filling you with thoughts that left you weak to temptation. As wetness pooled in the gusset of your panties remembering how Leon's hand felt in yours, you sobbed.
You prayed for God's forgiveness when the thoughts subsided. Apologised profusely for even thinking about touching yourself. The next morning, your shower took twice as long. You pretended it was the heat of the summer, but you knew it was your attempt at washing the dirty thoughts from your mind.
Every Sunday, Leon was begrudgingly dragged to church by his parents. And every Sunday, you fall further and further into sin. Until one day, you can't find Leon as you gaze into the pews.
It bothers you more than it should. You should be relieved. If he had convinced his parents to allow him to avoid church, you'd be rid of your temptation. God had heard your prayers, and he had offered you a solution.
You were not so lucky.
As you leave the church, Leon is propped outside against one of the walls. He's smoking, his lips the picture of sin as they wrap around the cigarette while he takes a drag.
His gaze flicks to you, and he tosses it to the floor, stopping it out with the toe of his boot. He grabs your arm, dragging you to the side of your church despite your protests.
“I've seen you watching me.” He says bluntly, but your brain can only focus on the sound of his voice and the way his hand feels as it lingers on your arm. You blink a few times, taking longer than usual to register his words.
“I-I haven't…”
“You have been, though.” He says harshly, brows furrowing like he's ready for a fight. “Think you're better than me? I can feel you judging me, y'know. I didn't want to come to this shitty town. I know I'm not like you.”
Your expression twists into one of confusion. Judging him? If anything, you were the one that deserved to be judged. You shake your head quickly, your heart beating so hard it felt like it would come out of your chest.
“I wasn't… I was just… just curious, that's all.”
He narrows his eyes like he's trying to see if you're lying. After a moment of studying you, he seems pleased enough with your answer and releases your arm.
“Cool. Your dad just really laid it on to my parents. They won't get off my back. Thought he sent you to keep an eye on me or something.” He says with a shrug, his gaze trailing over you.
“I'm not my father.” The words come out more sharp than you intended, and you're instantly scolding yourself mentally for speaking in that way. You take in a deep breath, looking down at the floor before meeting his gaze once more.
“I was wondering if we could be friends?” You ask softly, your voice shaking with slight nerves. Your father would probably crucify you if he knew you were alone with a boy, and here you were trying to bargain more time with him.
“It's just… well, I've never been able to hang around someone my age before, and-”
“Never?” He interrupts, brows furrowing as he looks at you. A small frown tugs at his lips, and you want nothing more than to kiss it away.
You shake your head softly, embarrassment burning in your chest.
“Shit. Does your old man keep you locked up in the church basement or something?” He asks with a laugh that only grows louder when he sees how affronted you are by him cursing.
He's joking, but it's not so far from the truth. You've been tethered to this town since the day you were born, kept on a leash so tight you could feel your airwaves being restricted more and more with every tug made by your father.
“It's just… I've never left this town.” You say quietly, and just like that, Leon's expression softens.
“You don't seem so happy about that.” He replies. The look on your face confirms his suspicions, but you don't say anything in response.
“Hey, well… I'll tell you everything you want to know.” He says with a smile that makes you weak in the knees.
If God created everyone in His image, he must have put a little extra of Himself in Leon Kennedy. You're not entirely convinced you're not in the presence of an angel. Or perhaps a demon sent by the devil to lure you into a life of sin.
You brush the thoughts away quickly. Leon was a human, plain and simple. It didn't matter what he looked like. All men were created equal, you remind yourself. There was nothing wrong with talking to him.
“So we're friends?” You ask hopefully, extending a hand in hopes of making contact with his calloused palms once more.
“Yeah. Friends.”

Two’s company, three’s a crowd (Part 3)
(Tara Carpenter x fem! reader || Sam Carpenter x fem! reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: Things aren't really going well after what happened, and a new murder spree does not help. Part 1 || Part 2 || Part 3 Warnings: violence, blood, death, Ghostface, explicit language at one point, angst maybe (?) a/n: honestly I was on freestyle mode the whole time so idk if that even make sense 😭 (English isn't my first language, I'm sorry if there are mistakes or if something doesn't make sense TvT)
The atmosphere was tensed at the apartment. Tara wasn’t talking to you or her sister, and you both felt bad for hurting her. Sam for ‘stealing’ the girl she loved, and you for breaking her heart after giving her hope.
You tried to tell her in the less hurtful way possible, but that kind of thing always hurt, no matter how you handle it.
As if it wasn’t enough, their roommate, Quinn, wouldn’t stop making dirty jokes about you and Sam, not caring if Tara was in the room. You liked the redhead, she was nice, but sometimes you just prayed someone would make her shut up.
Quinn wasn’t exactly known to be quiet. She was pretty loud even. Especially when she was getting fucked by whatever guy she brought back to the apartment. Which happened like everyday.
It was part of the reason why Sam and you spent most nights at your apartment, so the mood isn’t ruined by Quinn’s moans. It was also to give Tara some space, and to keep a distance between her and your sexual life.
This night, however, you were at Sam and Tara’s apartment; after the news announced a murder in the neighborhood and that a Ghostface mask was found on the crime scene, it was the best thing to do.
Everyone was gathered in the apartment: Sam, Tara, Quinn, Anika, Mindy and Chad. You were making dinner with Sam while the others were chatting in the living room -minus Quinn who was in her room.
While you were watching the pastas, you felt Sam’s arms wrap around your waist from behind. She rested her chin on your shoulder.
“Thank you for staying… I mean- you could’ve left New York and-”
You turned around to face her, her arms still around you.
“Hey, I’m not leaving you here. We don’t even know if it’s really Ghostface, maybe it’s some kind of joke. Whatever it is, I’m staying with you, okay?”
She smiled softly, touched by your words. She kissed your lips and stayed close to them after pulling away.
“I appreciate it, but I don’t want you to get hurt…”
“I’ll be okay, I promise” you replied immediately, kissing her again
She hummed and kissed your forehead before going back to preparing dinner while saying:
“Your pan is overflowing, baby”
You quickly turned back to it and took it off the stove.
“You could’ve told me earlier!” you whisper-shouted
Sam chuckled.
“Sorry, I preferred kissing you”
You rolled your eyes with a smile, grabbing a sponge to wipe the water off the stove.
Suddenly, you heard noises coming from Quinn’s room. Not that it was unusual, but this time it didn’t sound like moans. Rather muffled screams.
You looked at Sam, then at the others, who apparently heard it too.
You walked a bit closer to her room.
“Quinn? Everything alright?”
No answer.
The noises in the room became slightly louder; you could hear fight noises now, as if someone was thrown against a wall, or the pieces of furniture were thrown across the room.
“Shit”
You tried to go in the room but Tara and Sam held you back.
“Y/n, no!” Tara said, holding your hand tightly
Sam agreed, her arm in front of you.
“Whatever is happening it does not sound good! We can’t-” you paused; the noises had stopped “Why did it stop?”
You looked at the others, fear rising.
The door burst opened, taking you all by surprise, and a bloodied Quinn was thrown forward, falling on Anika. You tried to help her up, but were dragged away by Tara, allowing you to dodge Ghostface’s knife.
She started running to the door, hand still holding yours. You were almost at the door when you were pulled backwards by your hair, causing you to let go of Tara’s hand.
“Y/n!”
She took a step closer to you.
“No! Go, Tara!”
She looked at you hesitantly, not wanting to leave you in that situation. Ghostface didn’t let her more time to think and kicked the door closed before slamming your head against it. You swore you heard your nose crack.
When the grip on your hair loosened, you fell on the floor. You felt dizzy, the world was spinning around you.
You felt someone lift you up and carry you for a few seconds. Things were all blurry around, and when your senses came back to normal, you saw blood all over the room.
“Shit…”
Anika was next to you, bleeding. Sam, Mindy and Chad were trying to push Quinn’s cupboard against the door leading to the bathroom.
Ghostface was banging against the door, to the point it was shaking. It was clear it wouldn’t last long.
“It’s not going to last! We need to find a way to get out of here!” Chad said
You silently agreed. Having regained your composure, you ripped off a part of Quinn’s sheets and tried to tie it around Anika to slow down the bleeding.
Mindy let her brother and Sam holding the door and took a look at the window.
“If we tie the sheets we could escape by the window!” she said
“Or we could just open the other door and flee the apartment” you whispered loud enough only for your friends to hear
They all look at you with wide eyes.
“That’s… that’s actually a good idea”
“Thanks Chad. Now we might want to hurry up, quietly”
"Wait, who goes first?" Chad asked
"Anika. Then Mindy, Sam and you"
"No no no, you go before me. You're hurt." Sam declared
"I'm fine, I promise. Trust me, okay?"
She didn't move, hesitant, before nodding reluctantly.
You gave Anika and Mindy a nod, signal for them to go and open the door as quietly as they could. They did and walked to the apartment door, which they opened as well. Chad followed them soon after they left you field of vision.
You were now alone with Sam, trying to keep Ghostface busy with the bathroom door.
"Go!" you whispered to your girlfriend
She gave you an unsure look; the door was going to break soon, and she didn't want you to die.
"Sam, go! I'll be right behind you, I promise" you reassured her quietly
She finally nodded and walked to the door.
Almost as soon as she left, Ghostface managed to kick the door open, causing you to stumble away due to the shock. He was soon on you again, pushing you on the floor, and tried to stab you.
You didn't have time to think and protected yourself with your left hand. You felt the blade sink right through it.
You thought it was over. You were going to die there. There was no way you could defend yourself, not when every fast movement made your head spin.
Luckily, Sam hadn't gone too far already, and came to rescue you. She slammed the knife stand on his head as violently as she could and kicked him in the face too.
That seemed to work, because Ghostface was on the floor, trying to regain composure.
Sam didn't lose any second and lifted you up before carrying you out of the apartment and down to the street. When you got down there, everyone was here.
An ambulance didn't take long to arrive.
They took care of Anika first, as she was the most hurt of the group. Then they checked your forehead, opened due to your head being slammed against the door, and bandaged up your hand after stitching it up.
While the police what interrogating Sam, Tara came to you.
"How are you feeling?" she asked quietly
It was obvious she felt guilty for letting you in while she was safe outside.
"I'm okay, it's nothing too serious, don't worry" you reassured her She hesitated for a minute, before hugging you tightly.
"I was so scared... A-after the door closed I- I tried to go back inside but.." she sniffled "If I were there maybe I could’ve protected you…”
"Hey.." you hugged her back as best as you could "I'm okay, I promise"
"But your head, a-and your hand...
You rubbed your forehead.
"That's nothing. And that..." you looked at your wounded hand "Hey, we're twinning now!"
Your words caught her by surprise but caused her to chuckle slightly.
"Yeah, we're twinning now" she said with a little smile
After that, Anika stayed at the hospital. Mindy was chosen to keep her company and protect her -just in case. Gale and Kirby joined your little group, as did detective Bailey -Quinn's dad- and Ethan, who 'had e-con' when Ghostface attacked the apartment. He wasn't really convincing though... maybe he was the one who attacked you.
Thanks to Gale's help, you discovered a shrine dedicated to Ghostface and the previous Woodsboro murders. The one who did that clearly was obsessed with everything Ghostface related.
After that, Kirby 'kicked' Gale out of the group -saying it was not a place for a journalist-causing her to get attacked at her apartment. You were all afraid another original was about to die, and you hoped she would be okay.
After Gale's attack, you tried to elaborate a plan to kill Ghostface, and decided to lure him into the shrine, lock him in, and kill him.
"We should go there using the train" someone said
It was a terrible idea. There were so many people. Too many people.
You got separated from the rest of the group almost immediately. Luckily -or not- Ethan was with you. You took out your phone and texted Sam to tell her you had to take the next train.
Surprisingly, nothing bad happened on the way to the shrine. It was even a bit odd, considering it was a perfect occasion to attack Ethan and you.
You were almost at the shrine's door when you felt something hit the back of your head violently.
You knew it was going too well to last.
When you opened your eyes, you were inside the shrine, tied up.
“Ah, great, you’re awake. Perfect timing, really”
You turned around to see detective Bailey coming towards you.
“W-wait Ghostface, he-” you started, before being cut off
“I know, I know” the man said as he lifted you up and led you to the main room of the shrine.
When you got there, you saw Sam and Tara being held hostages by two people; Ethan -as you could have predicted- and…
“Quinn?”
“Hey pretty girl” she smirked and waved at you, knife in hand
You were completely lost; she was supposed to be dead!
In your confusion, you noticed Chad was nowhere to be found, and so was Kirby. You hoped they were safe.
“Enough talking.” Detective Bailey declared, pressing his knife against your throat “Now Y/n… I’ve been told you had trouble making choices”
Quinn winked at you.
“I figured you might want some help” she said
“It’s just a little plus to what we planned” Ethan added
“What? What are you talking about?” you asked
“Let me explain simply” the older man started. He pointed at Sam and Tara. “You get to choose who lives, and who dies”
Your eyes widened at his words.
What…?
You looked over at Sam, held by Quinn, knife dangerously close to her throat, then at Tara, whom Ethan was keeping still, also threatening her.
“So, Y/n? What do you decide?” the redhead asked
“Fuck you” you spat
“I’d rather fuck you, honestly” she smirked “If you knew how many times I’ve wanted to just pin you against a wall and fuck you right there, I-”
She didn’t have time to finish her sentence, as Sam threw her head back, hitting the other girl right in the face. Taken aback, she let her guard down, which allowed your girlfriend to take the knife from her hand.
Next to them, Tara managed to kick Ethan where it hurts, and tried to take his knife as well.
If Bailey was surprised by all that sudden action, he didn’t show any sign of it. Instead, he plunged his knife right in your stomach.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you” he told the girls, who were about to stab the two other Ghostface
They turned to look in your direction and stopped all movements. They were hesitant now.
“Drop your weapons, now.” the man said
As they weren’t moving, considering all the possibilities, he twisted the knife to the side, making you whimper in pain and spit out some blood.
“Okay okay, stop!” Sam said, almost pleading him to stop hurting you
“You know what to do if you want me to stop”
He punctuated his words with another twist of the knife in your stomach.
Sam dropped the knife, and so did Tara.
As Quinn and Ethan bent down to grab their weapons again, a gunshot was heard and Bailey’s legs seemed to get weak. You took the opportunity to escape his grip.
Sam kicked Quinn in the face as she was still bent over, probably breaking her nose in the process -and maybe even a few teeth. Tara was quicker than Ethan to grab the knife, but slower to get back up. He grabbed her by the throat and tried to choke her, laughing like a psycho. The smaller girl had trouble moving.
Her sister was busy fighting Quinn, so you were the one to help her.
You took the knife from her hand and stabbed Ethan in the mouth.
“Don’t. Fucking. Touch her.” you said as you twisted the blade in his mouth, before pulling it out, letting his body fall to the floor
You turned to Tara.
“Are you okay…?”
She nodded, and was quick to hold you when she saw you stumbling.
“Are you okay? You’re bleeding a lot…”
She was worried, and afraid you were losing too much blood.
Sam soon arrived next to you, as concerned as her sister.
“Tara, please, can you try to slow down the bleeding?” she asked her
The youngest nodded.
“What are you going to do?” she asked her sister
Sam turned to where Bailey was, starting to stand up while holding his bleeding leg.
“Take care of him.” She said with a stern, cold voice
Tara led you away from the fights and took care of you. You were barely conscious at this point.
You didn’t see Sam and Kirby close to Bailey. You didn’t hear Kirby tell Sam she would just shoot him and it will be over. You didn’t hear Sam deny her, and stab the man at least 30 times, punctuated each stab with cold words, filled with venom.
She was so mad he hurt you. She was enraged. No one had the right to hurt you. No one had the right to even lay a finger on you.
<><><><> ♡ <><><><>
Months after this day, everything was back to normal; you were happy with Sam, and Tara had moved on. She even had her eye on someone.
Your wounds were healed, and the only remaining thing of them were scars. As you thought, you now had a matching scar with Tara, on your left hand. And just like her you had to train your hand everyday so you could use it properly again. Some nerves were cut when the blade went through your hand, which wasn’t the best thing.
But let’s see the positive: it gave you an opportunity to spend more time with Tara and bound together over something, even if it wasn’t the thing you would’ve imagined.
You braided each other’s hair every day, and you were regaining more and more control over your hand. It was like before, just you and your best friend.
Sam’s relation with her sister also improved after the events. They took time to talk, to really talk and listen to each other.
To say it briefly, you were back to an almost normal life, and you hoped it would last.

I wrote this as a vent/comfort fic for myself but figured others might like it. Corpse has been my new safety youtuber ever since the old nosleep reader--deep voice/no face gamer went to shit so... yeah.
Heavily inspired by @mmonamona ‘s fic “Petty Fights and Lonely Nights” just more angst.

“God would you just fuck off already?!”
Frozen. Your body tensed up as the deep growl echoed through the cramped dark room.
You had been staying at your boyfriend’s apartment for about a week while you were on break from college. Flying out from the UK to California so you could spend as much time as you could with him before ultimately having to return to 5am facetimes while drowning in papers and essays.
Even before you’d booked the tickets, Corpse was already apologizing for everything under the sun. The size of his apartment and its cleanliness, the fact that he couldn’t do much more than order take out for you, his irregular sleeping patterns.. the list could go on and on. And while you assured him every time that you didn’t care, that you were coming to see him— not his apartment, not home cooked meals, and definitely not to scrutinize him for things he couldn’t control due to his mental health. But he wouldn’t buy it.
Not one bit.
He’d offer you a weary half-smile, pulling you into his chest or ruffling your hair before placing a soft kiss on your temple and changing the subject. You didn’t press any further knowing how often he was at war with his own mind and couldn’t help but think the worse of every situation.
As the days carried on, you’d spent most of your time tangled up in each other. Whether it be a movie, or playing some co-op games, or even just laying in his bed with him, you could barely stand to spend any time apart. But, of course, you were adults with responsibilities that would tear you from one another eventually. While you did miss his presence every second he wasn’t around, you couldn’t help but try to make his life even better for when he got back and for when you’d eventually have to leave him once again. Now, a week into your stay, his apartment was a good amount tidier than how it’d been when you arrived. The cupboards and fridge were stocked with groceries that would hopefully last for some time after you left, on top of the home made meals you’d make together or for him everyday. New picture frames were hung up on the wall of the two of you that you’d gifted to him when you arrived; it actually started to feel like home. Well, as much as it could without those familiar strong arms wrapped around you every second of the day.
Unfortunately, this evening was one of those times. Corpse had already been locked up in his office for a few hours now, the sounds of button mashing and frustrated exclamations making its way through the thin walls every so often bringing an amused smile to your face. He’d woken up a bit anxious already knowing he’d have to both leave you alone and put up a brave front for the stream that was planned that evening. You didn’t push him or try to talk about it, knowing that it would just make it worse; so you two had spent the day as it normally would (though he always looked and felt on edge) until he was forced to retreat back into that dreaded workspace.
You occupied yourself on your phone and laptop for a while, checking up on friends, reviewing anything you’d need for the upcoming semester, just scrolling through your socials— y’know, the works. But by the time you’d gotten bored with your scrolling, you’d notice it was a perfect time to start dinner that you’d hopefully be able to eat together with Corpse. You’d gotten to work right away, doing your best to be as quiet as you could to not disturb his work as the different aromas began to spread through the small kitchen in his apartment. Finishing up the dishes after the meal was all cooked, you dished up two servings and set them on the coffee table in front of the couch before you went to retrieve your other half.
Turning the knob of his office door slowly, you peered into the dark room; only the silhouette of the floppy mop of hair you adored so much was able to be seen in the dim light of his computer monitors. Taking a hard look at his right-most monitor you notice an editing software pulled up instead of the usual live chat he had on while streaming, so without any worry of interrupting you opened the door and stepped into the room. It was a cozy room for sure, and it always seemed to smell just like him— which of course is a given but with how much time he spent in this room, it was even more so present. Walking up slowly to his right side so you wouldn’t startle him with just your voice you watched his gaze flick to your form before steadying itself back in the monitor. Furrowing your brows at his strange behaviour but not letting it get to you, you opened your mouth to speak.
“I made dinner!” You smiled down at him, taking a few steps back toward the door so he would be able to get out of his gaming chair without you in his space. However, the hunched form of your focused boyfriend didn’t move an inch. Your heart sunk a little at his attitude but decided to just try again.
“Corpse, baby, dinners ready.”
“I’m not hungry.” The short statement left his mouth in a low grumble, if you hadn’t spent all this time with him studying his voice and begging him to speak more to you, you probably wouldn’t have been able make it out at all. You huffed out a sigh, this was new for him, you really hadn’t seen him as anything other than the cuddly baby you’d grown to know and love. But, you thought to yourself, love would come with days like this and it was bound to happen eventually. Trying your best to not get frustrated or angry with his snappy attitude, you kept your voice light and cheery as you tried again to coax him out to eat.
“Corpse you’ve barely eaten today I-“
“I said I’m not hungry.” Startling at the angry tone you’d never heard from him before, you could feel yourself start to get choked up. Pulling your hands up to hug your arms, trying to sooth yourself, you could feel yourself starting to slowly freeze up. Goosebumps ran over your skin, a chill snaking  it’s way up your spine as you gulped, trying your best to muster up the bravery to speak again. You didn’t know what had gotten into him, he knew how the tone affected you— he was usually even the one to comfort you after an episode triggering something like this. As your mouth began to run dry, you took a deep breath deciding that he would definitely come to his senses in the next moments, you opened your mouth to speak again.
“Is everything alri-“
“I’m FINE! I’m not a FUCKING CHILD I don’t need you constantly checking up on me! God would you just fuck off already!”
You didn’t even notice the tears dripping off your cheeks until they splashed against the bare skin of your hand. Slipping into the defense mode you knew so well, your body switched onto autopilot as you began to backpedal out of the room, almost tripping a few times as you sputtered out a choked “okay, I’m sorry,” before closing his door once again and stumbling messily down the hallway to his room. Your mind was moving a thousand miles a minute yet was completely blank at the same time, and before you knew it you were tucked away inside the dark closet in his room.
This was the routine, this is where you’d be safe.
Trying to slow your erratic breathing you hugged your knees even closer to your chest, praying that in some way it would ease your shaking body. But inevitably, you felt the sobs that you’d kept trapped in your throat since you’d left break through. Your chest heaved with the breaths you took to keep your sobs as silent as possible. You thought you had trained yourself well enough for this, you’d done this a million times before— but in the back of your mind you knew that this time it was different. Shrinking into the corner of the closet, the only thing on your mind was all the broken promises he’d sworn to keep.
>>>
Corpse sighed, his body weighing him down in his chair heavily, head aching with all the work he’d been doing that evening. Pulling his attention back, he stretched his arms as his sore eyes glanced over at the clock in the corner of his screen. 11:34pm. Fuck. That much time had passed already? Raking a hand through his hair he yawned sleepily, he knew he should probably spend more time working before calling it a night but all he wanted to do was curl up in bed with you-
Shit.
Finally snapping out of the heavy trance he’d set himself in every time he sat down to edit, he thought back to the last time he had seen you— calling him for dinner where he snapped at you to leave him alone… almost 3 hours ago. The memories of the past moment flooded into his head and seconds later he was scrambling out of his chair and out into the hallway. It was dead silent, Corpse felt like his heart was practically breaking his ribs with how hard it was pounding in his chest. Fuck, fuck, fuck. Gripping at the right side of his shirt he rushed into the living room, rubbing frantically at his eyes as they darted around the room quickly looking for any sign of you.
“(Y/N), baby?” He rasped out, voice caught in his throat, walking through the living room and spotting the now cold meals she’d prepared waiting uneaten on the coffee table. His heart sunk as he hurried to the kitchen only to see the rest of the meal out on the counter, not doing anything to ease his mind. He called your name again and again; rushing back into the living room his eyes darted to the front door, a tiny bit of relief pricking his system as he saw the door was still locked and latched, as well as seeing your shoes and jacket by the door. Rushing back into the hallway he peeked into the bathroom, flicking on the light switch and with no sign of you, continued down the hallway to his room.
“(Y/N), please baby.” Flicking on the light his eyes scanned the room not catching a single sight of you-- when he heard it. Slowing his breathing down as much as he could in his panicked state he focused in his hearing on the small heaves of air coming from the closet. Stomach dropping, Corpse collapsed onto his knees, legs giving way from underneath him when he realized where you were and what was happening. Crawling his way toward the closet door he stopped right outside of it, he heard your breath hitch and knew you were holding it out of practiced instinct which made him want to vomit. But it wasn’t about him right now, so with a deep breath he finally managed to whisper out.
>>>
“Princess, I’m gonna open the door okay?”
Finally releasing the breath you had been holding, your lungs heaved for air as light flooded into the dark closet. Peeking an eye out from where it was buried in your knees, you blearily made out your boyfriend’s blurry figure kneeling outside the closet. With your body feeling like it was completely out of your control, sobs once again began to rack your huddled form as you shrunk away from him as far as you could into the corner of the closet.
“I’m gonna come in and sit with you okay, I won’t touch you unless you say I can alright?” You could hear some shuffling before hearing the door creak shut again engulfing the both of you in almost complete darkness, save for the few streams of yellow light coming from the cracks of the door. Corpse stared forward in complete silence, long legs bent uncomfortably and body hunched over in the cramped space of the closet trying to give you as much space as possible but knowing that the first step was sitting with you. The man beside you sighed softly, feeling his heart splinter with every heaving sob that raked over you; he could feel his own tears prick at his eyes and a sob starting to well up in his throat but he held them back. Mustering up the courage and will he finally opened his mouth to speak.
“(Y/N) I am so, so fucking sorry,” his voice pitched just above a whisper because he knew if his voice got any deeper that it would startle you and scare you even more than how you were already feeling right now. ‘I don’t know what I was thinking. It never should’ve hap-“
“Y- You br- broke your promise.” Your reply came in watery, stuttered breaths; the knot in Corpse’s throat came right back up, tears filling his waterline as much as he tried to keep his composure for your sake.
“I know. I know I did.” The man beside you managed to choke out thinking back to the day where he first lost his temper around you. You’d told him everything about your experience with your past relationships and how you were treated, what you used to cope and what he could do to avoid that in any way possible. He promised that day that he would never again raise his voice, or move too fast even when he was angry or frustrated, and made sure to note down anything that would possibly trigger you to completely avoid altogether. And he kept those promises… until today. Tilting his head to glance over at you, his eyes adjusting to the darkness of the closet to see you staring straight ahead, tears pouring endlessly down your damp face as your body still shook with soft cries.
“I can’t lose you (Y/N)” Corpse’s voice shook as he tried to figure out the right things to say that would keep you from walking right out that door.
“I’ll do anything. You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me, I don’t know what I’d do without you. I’ll be better, I swear on my life I’ll be better. Anything you need— it’s yours. I just.. I can’t lose you. Not like this.” He hated how much he sounded like he was pleading when he’s the one who fucked up. The last thing he wanted to do was manipulate you into staying with him which was exactly what your ex did when they made the same mistake time and time again; something he swore he’d never even think of doing. But here he was, and here you were glancing up at him with bloodshot eyes, hair sticking to your tear slicked face and body shaking so much you’d think it was below freezing in there.
Tearing your gaze away from his, you heaved a watery, shaky sigh trying your best to get your thoughts in order. While you had your issues, you knew he had his as well; and with as much patience and understanding he gives you with your snappy, frustrated, sad days, you needed to give back that same patience and understanding with his own. You needed to be brave here.
“Baby-“
“C-Can you just hold me? Please?” You sputtered out just above a whisper, and before you could even unwrap your arms from around yourself Corpse was pulling you into his lap; strong arms encasing you as he pushed his face into your hair. That’s when you found out he was shaking just as much as you were, chest rising and falling erratically with contained sobs as he tried to keep his brave demeanour up for you. Tucking your head under his chin he leaned back against the wall as he crushed you to his chest, the droplets hitting the top of your head giving way to the fact that he was crying too. Pulling your arms up from your side, you slowly wrapped them around his shoulder as he pushed his face against the crook of your neck, sobs finally giving way as he cried helplessly into your shoulder; further dampening the already tear-soaked cloth of the hoodie you were wearing.
“I’m sorry,” Corpse sputtered, hooking his chin over your shoulder so he could keep up with the heaving of his chest, pulling an arm up from around your waist to rest on the back of your head. As much as he wanted to run his hands all over your body and bury his fingers in your hair to feel and memorize every inch of you, he kept them still not wanting to overwhelm you more than this kind of touch already did.
“I love you, I love you so much, I love you..“ he whispered over and over into the darkness of the closet as you both began to breath slower as one. Shushing him softly, you repeated the soft words back to him before wrapping your arms tighter around his shoulders, ensuring him that you were going to be alright.
There would be bumps in the road but Corpse was worth it.

The Notebook
Remus had been in such a rush to get to class, he didn’t notice he had grabbed the wrong bag. In fact, in his absentminded state, he didn’t realize before he opened the bag to find Sirius’ things inside: Pieces of crumbled up parchment, a couple of chocolate frogs, a bottle of ink, and his notebook.
Remus remembered buying that notebook with him, in a bookshop in muggle London. Sirius had immediately fallen in love with the notebooks that had silly “inspirational” quotes written on the cover. The one he had bought said “Shoot for the moon; even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars”, which didn’t even make sense. Of course, Sirius didn’t care if it made sense or not.
“Alright, now, students, you will be taking notes today, so get your quills and parchment out,” said Professor McGonnagal as she entered the classroom.
Fuck. Remus didn’t have his own bag, and therefore didn’t have anything to take notes with. He turned in his seat to try and catch Sirius’ attention, but to no avail.
He would have to borrow Sirius’ notebook then, just for this lesson. He could give it back to him afterwards.
But as he opened it, something written on the first page caught this eye:
This notebook belongs to Sirius Black Lupin.
Remus felt his heart rate speed up as he flicked through the pages. On some of them, Sirius had written things like “S+R”, usually with a heart neatly drawn around the letters, as well as “Sirius Lupin” over and over again. A larger block of text caught his eye:
“Why do I feel this way? I know it’s wrong, but no matter how hard I try to make the feeling go away, it’s still there; making me weak in my knees every time I look at him.
He doesn’t realize the effect he has on me. Every damn time he smiles, or ruffles his hair, or bites his lip when he’s concentrating… Someday, one of these things will be the bloody death of me and he doesn’t even realize.
If he found out how I feel, he would surely hate me. He can’t know I’m hopelessly in love with him. No one can ever know.”
Remus stared blankly at the page. Surely, this couldn’t be about himself? Sirius wasn’t in love with him… Was he?
He quickly closed the notebook before anyone around him could see what was written in it, and turned around to look at Sirius. He was staring at his desk, though he didn’t appear to be taking notes, or doing anything, really. Remus couldn’t help but wonder if Sirius had seen him reading the notebook and if so, what was going through his head?
-
Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck. Sirius’ ears were ringing, his whole brain in panic mode. It was like an alarm inside his head, frantically ringing out:
He knows, he knows, he hates you now, everything is ruined.
He thought of all the possible ways out of this: Fakng his own death and moving to France and live under a new name. Or faking his own death and move to the other side of the world. Or perhaps even better, faking his own death and going into outer space, making a life for himself on Mars. In fact, he didn’t really have any idea that didn’t involve faking his own death.
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Remus turn in his seat to look at him.
Alright, Sirius, he said to himself. Keep your eyes down, don’t make eye contact. As soon as Transfiguration is over you can make a run for it.
By the end of the day, he would be Pierre The Frenchman, living on a cozy wineyard in France. Or an astronaut on his way to Mars.
But as the lesson ended and students hurried out, he started to realize he couldn’t leave. Even if Remus now hated him, he still loved Remus, and a life without him, even if he got to meet some cool aliens instead, wouldn’t be worth living.
He stood up, finding himself face to face with Remus. “Hey,” he said, praying his voice wouldn’t betray his nerves. “I think you have my, uh-”
“Notebook?” Remus interrupted in a strangely high-pitched voice. “Haha. What notebook? I didn’t read it. I didn’t even notice it was there. Here’s your bag! Goodbye!” He tossed the bag onto Sirius’ desk, before practically running out of the door, leaving Sirius behind in the nearly empty classroom.
“What on earth was that about?”
Sirius jumped. He’d completely forgotten that James was there too. He turned around to face him, making a desperate attempt at a nonchalant expression. “No idea,” he lied.
James didn’t seem so convinced. “Why was he being so weird about a notebook? And what notebook was he even talking about, anyway?” He reached into Sirius’ bag, but Sirius was quick to snatch it out of his hands.
“It’s private!” he said.
But James had managed to grab the notebook, and had already opened it. “Oh.” he said, realization dawning on his face. “Oh!”
“James, give that back!” Sirius pleaded, no longer able to keep the panic out of his voice.
James looked up at him. “You’re in love with Remus,” he almost whispered. “Shit, mate. Everything makes so much more sense now.”
Sirius looked down, shame mixing with the panic. “You weren’t supposed to have read that.”
But James ignored this. “Sirius, you have to go after him! He clearly feels the same way!”
“No he doesn’t!”
“Yes, he does,” James insisted. “Did you not see him running out of here all red in the face. And how weirdly he acted before… Pads, that is not the behavior of someone who just learned his friend is in love with him and doesn’t return those feelings.”
Sirius ran a hand through his hair, letting out a shaky breath. “You don’t know that,” he mumbled.
“Yes, I do! Listen to me, dimwit,” James said, grabbing a hold of both Sirius’ shoulders, forcing him to look at him. “If he didn’t have feelings for you too, he wouldn’t have acted that way. There would have been an awkward conversation where he tried to let you down gently. ‘I really like you as a friend, Sirius, but I would like to stay just that.” Something like that, you know? He definitely wouldn’t have acted like that!”
Could James really be right? Sirius fiddled nervously with his shirt collar. “So… you think I should find him and talk to him, don’t you?”
“Exactly!” James responded. “Come on, no time to waste!”
Sirius sighed. “Alright,” he muttered, taking hesitant steps towards the door.
“Actually, wait.” James said, grabbing his arm. “Look, Pads, I know I shouldn’t have meddled in this. That notebook was private. And, well… I imagine this isn’t how you planned on me finding out that you like blokes but, uh… I want you to know that I love you just the same. You’ll always be my brother.”
Sirius didn’t have the words to explain what a relief it was to hear that from James. All of the sleepless nights he had spent, after realizing he was gay, picturing James’ reaction. In his imagination, it was usually the end of their friendship. James looked disgusted, angry, betrayed. But as he looked into his eyes, a deep, gentle brown, there was none of that. No hatred, no disgust. “Thank you, Prongs,” he said with a small smile.
James returned the smile, pulling him into a brief hug. “No problem, mate. Now go talk to Moony, for Merlin’s sake!”
-
Remus had gone to the place he always went when seeking comfort or a place to clear his mind: the Hogwarts library. Surrounded by books, with no people around, except maybe for the librarian, he felt strangely at peace. Today, however, there was no peace. His mind was running at a dangerous speed, way too fast for himself to keep up.
Sirius liked him… maybe. It could’ve been a prank. Could Sirius have meant for Remus to find it? Was he trying to humiliate Remus by tricking him into confessing his own feelings? Or it could all have been something Remus’ own brain, desperate for love, had made up. Either way, he was going to do what he always did in uncomfortable or scary situations: ignore it until it hopefully went away.
“Remus.”
Fuck. It was going to be hard to ignore the problem, when the problem was standing a few feet away from him, nervously fiddling with the strap on his bag.
Sirius shuffled awkwardly next to Remus’ table, eyeing a chair as though he was debating whether or not to sit down. “I thought I might find you here,” he said.
Remus got up, grabbing a random book off the nearest shelf. “Congrats, Sherlock,” he said snarkily, sitting back down again. He opened the book, pretending to read. It was better than having to face Sirius.
“Moony, I- I know you looked in my notebook,” Sirius said, pulling out the chair opposite Remus and sitting down.
Remus kept his eyes on the book, without catching any of what was written in it. Sirius continued:
“I don’t know how much you actually read, but… Well, I’m pretty sure you saw enough to know the truth.”
“No, I swear, I have no idea what you’re…” Remus trailed off. What good would lying do? He had known Sirius since they were both eleven. There was no one more stubborn or persistent. If Sirius wanted to talk about this, that would happen whether Remus wanted to or not. “Yeah, I did,” he mumbled. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have.”
“I need to know the truth as well,” Sirius said. “If you don’t feel the same, that’s fine. I’ll… I’ll get over it, I won’t make it awkward or uncomfortable, I promise. But if you do feel the same…”
Remus opened his mouth, but no sound left him. He didn’t know what to say. This didn’t feel real. It was too good to be true. A prank, for sure. James was probably hiding somewhere, ready to jump out and laugh at him with Sirius if he confessed.
Silence stretched for what seemed like an eternity, while an internal war wreaked havoc inside of Remus. Should he tell Sirius the truth, or stay silent?
But before either side could win, Sirius had already drawn conclusions from his silence.
“Right,” he said, his voice choked-up and distant. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have assumed there was even a chance you liked me back.” He got up, before Remus could say anything. “Just forget about it, okay?”
Fuck. Remus looked up. Sirius was walking away, his shoulders slumped, his steps heavy. Remus stood up, knocking the chair over in his hurry. “Sirius, wait!”
He had caught up with him in a few long strides. Sirius turned around, his expression hardened like he didn’t dare let himself hope again.
This time, Remus didn’t waste any time worrying about the consequences. He cupped Sirius’ face with his hands, leaning in to kiss him, and oh Merlin, was it the best decision he had ever made.
The kiss was returned almost immediately, like it was all Sirius had been wanting to do for years. And maybe it was… Remus thought that was the case for himself, even if he had only recently realized it.
Both of them lost in the other’s lips, they accidentally backed into a bookcase, sending a few books falling onto the floor.
“Who’s there?” Called the angry voice of Madam Pince.
Sirius and Remus looked at each other, both trying to suppress their laughter. “Let’s get the fuck out of here,” Sirius whispered.
Remus nodded, letting Sirius take his hand as they both ran from the library. He grinned, feeling the rush of adrenaline and euphoria take over his mind. They hid in an unused classroom, both of them laughing and panting.
“That was close, huh?” Sirius said. “Imagine if Madam Pince had seen us. She would’ve lost her damn mind.”
“Definitely.” Remus’ cheeks hurt from smiling. “So,” he said. “Sirius Lupin, huh?”
Sirius groaned. “Shut up,” he said, his face turning red.
Remus laughed. “No,” he said. “Never. It’s embarrassing for you.”
“It is,” Sirius agreed. He leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to Remus’ lips. “Will kissing shut you up?”
“Mmh.” Remus stroked his chin with mock thoughtfulness. “You know, it just might. Why don’t keep kissing me to find out?”

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
all you wanted were groceries. that was all you wanted. you were standing in line behind the stall as you counted the items you needed to get. salt, milk, sugar, fowl, what else? you were lost in thought as you prayed that you had enough mora to buy everything - god knows how hard eating is as an adventurer. which was why, when you dropped your precious mora, your mind immediately went into panic mode. not now, not now, please don’t let the line move, you begged internally. in hindsight maybe if your mora hadn’t dropped, maybe if you weren’t at your wits end as a broke adventurer, maybe if you had just bought those damn ingredients sooner, you wouldn’t be in this position. as you breathed a sigh of relief after collecting your money and returned your gaze back to the stall, the only thing you could do was stare. where...did everyone go? instead of simply turning around and fleeing which should’ve been your first instinct considering how deserted the place was, you stood there trying to process the information. that was, until you saw a head of auburn hair peak up out of the stall. startled, you almost dropped your mora again. as the tuft of hair gave way to a very tall, handsome, blue eyed man, your brain short circuited.
oh god how you wished you had run when you had the chance. you imagined you must have looked quite comical; mouth hanging slightly open, the list of ingredients fisted in your hands while mora was hanging precariously from your fingers. after what seemed like an eternity, the man seemed to finally notice you.
“oh hey, you must not have noticed but this stall is sold out for the fatui”
the sentence accompanied with his signature smile practically brought you to your knees. that smile? aimed at you? you would be surprised if you weren’t drooling.
determined to not look like an absolute idiot you flashed him a smile of your own before saying, “sorry my bad, i must not have been paying attention” while doing what little you can to get some semblance of balance. tuck the mora here, try to balance your list more gracefully, move that piece of hair from your face.
his eyes surveyed your undoubtedly disheveled appearance, before making a quick decision.
“what items do you want, i’m sure i can spare a few ingredients for someone as pretty as you”
one blink. another blink. did he just call you pretty? oh my-
“oh no, it’s really ok, i can just get these later - it’s not that important anyway” you lied through your teeth. you needed those ingredients or you were most likely going to starve on the road but he didn’t need to know that.
“don’t worry about it, as a harbinger i’m sure my subordinates can overlook a few missing ingredients” he smoothly said before gesturing you towards him.
“i’m childe by the way, if you didn’t know” his eyes flicked up to meet yours.
“y/n” you offered while handing him the list.
as he looked over what you needed, you tried your best to keep your breathing steady while your mind raced. if you didn’t know? of course you knew who he was, who didn’t? you would know better than most considering how often you thirsted about him to your mutual. if anything, you should’ve been the one saying that line to him. as an adventurer, you tend to not spend much time in liyue harbor, chasing down ruin guards and running errands was how you would rather keep yourself busy. however, ever since you saw childe in liyue, sharing a pot of tea with zhongli of all people, you started swinging by the harbor more often. fascination was what kept you seeking him out wherever you went. you had heard about the infamous eleventh harbinger, supposedly the youngest of them, all while being quite easy on the eyes. you had brushed off all the talk you had heard to just that - talk. international affairs wasn’t something you cared for and if anything, seeing the fatui made you wary. however, your curiosity grew after seeing him whenever you were in town. you chalked up your eyes subconsciously seeking out his figure to the fact that he was just an interesting guy. nothing wrong with wondering about a peculiar fellow, right?  you went through excuses upon excuses until finally, you had concluded that perhaps, maybe, you had a little crush on him. tiny, you assured yourself. just a tiny crush on a very attractive man.
that crush then trickled over to your time spent talking to your mutual. it started off with little hints of “oh there’s this guy i saw and i thought he was kinda cute” to full blown hysteria of “PLS SEND HELP HE LOOKED SO GOOD TODAY.” @cryogoddess definitely had a lot of patience putting up with your thirsts over a man she didn’t even have the name of. you felt horrible sometimes since more than half of your conversation was about the newest detail you had noticed about childe - however your protests on boring her were met with reassurances about how no, you weren’t boring her, and yes, this is the most lighthearted talk she’s had her entire day so please keep going. you weren’t exactly sure what this woman did, or even how old she was. all you knew was she was someone who was constantly stressed (maybe a fellow adventurer?) and she was quite honest (which you happened to appreciate). despite how busy she was, she seemed to always make time for your texts which made you feel like you could trust her with anything.
“is that all? do you need anything else?” childe’s voice interrupted your mental tirade as you owlishly looked at him.
“oh! yes that’s fine thank you” you smiled before taking the bag from him. grabbing the mora, you rushed to hand out the correct amount before he stopped you.
“don’t worry about it, it’s on the house” he laughed slightly before waving your mora away.
it’s on the- excuse me? did he just give you all this for free? is this what fatui hospitality is like?
rushing to close your mouth, you quickly recovered while slurring out a quick “thank you so much” before shouldering your bag. your brain was currently running on fumes and you were very sure that if you stayed there any longer you might just combust.
“well, i’ll be off then, thank you again” you shot him another smile before quickly scurrying away.
without turning back to look at his expression, you moved as fast as humanly possible while trying not to seem like you were about to jump out of your skin. you didn’t know what was more embarrassing, your thumping heart or the dopey smile on your face. there was no way you were ever going to get over this, not with the way he looked at you the entire time. sighing, you put your bag down near a bench and pulled out your phone. at least you had an update for your friend that consisted of something other than just mindless thirsts.
your mind was still reeling over from what happened as you texted her with shaking hands. the reply was immediate: “wow, you finally got up the courage to talk to him huh.” you rolled your eyes playfully at her blunt message. “bY ACCIDENT- IT HAPPENED BY ACCIDENT,,, guess he couldn’t keep himself away from this sexiness 😩” another blunt reply: “right.” smiling softly, you responded: “thanks for hyping me up bestie i really appreciate it <3 ok but maybe childe and i belong together??? is this a sign from the archons???” you stared waiting for her reply, however you were met with a read 8:45 pm. you’re lucky i love you bestie, leaving me on read during my crisis you whispered to yourself as you shouldered your bag once again to head home. at least you won’t be starving tomorrow on your commissions.
as soon as you entered your house, your phone lit up. “wait. as in childe, eleventh of the fatui harbingers, also known as tartaglia, feared by many on the battle field, currently stationed in liyue, major pain in the ass, and is currently ignoring some of his paperwork???” - @cryogoddess. your eyebrows furrowed as you read her message, “yes that’s him but why do you sound so freaked out and how do you know sm abt him?” another notification: “i can’t believe you’ve been thirsting to me abt CHILDE.” you: “KDJKSFJ YOU DIDNT ANSWER MY QUESTION - also??? i thought i told you his name did i not??? 😀” her: “no??? wow this definitely is...interesting” you: “BESTIE ANSWER MY QUESTION DO YOU KNOW HIM???” her: “i’ve gotta go, work is calling.”
you sighed in frustration as you tossed your phone on your bed. why was she so freaked out? you weren’t dumb, you knew there was something she wasn’t telling you but you trusted her enough to know she’ll let you know if it was important. you wondered as you pulled the covers over your head, if you’ll meet childe in your dreams and if you do, hopefully, in a less embarrassing scenario.
the next morning, you awoke to a barrage of texts from none other than @cryogoddess. they were all along the lines of you should go to bubu pharmacy and stock up on medication this evening (i heard they’re having a sale). you responded back with a maybe, if you had time today after your commissions and if xiangling didn’t stop by with some food. however, your mutual made you promise you would visit in the evening, even if it’s just for a few minutes. you gave in because a) you never could say no and b) she made it sound like it was urgent so maybe she was obsessed with medicine? hmmm you would have to figure out where she lived so you could send some to her.
you walked toward bubu pharmacy while tiredly sheathing your weapon, loosely taking in your surroundings. kids playing near the pond, teenagers chatting at the steps, adults keeping a watchful eye over their kids while laughing about the day’s events. your eyes studied the sign outside of bubu pharmacy. sale? what sale? there doesn’t seem to be anything regarding a sale?
“y/n?” a mildly familiar voice called your name. you whipped around looking for whoever uttered those words before your eyes fell on none other than one blue eyed harbinger. he was holding a few silk flowers in his hand as he stared at you with a sheepish smile.
“hi” you stuttered out. your mind was blank, what was happening?
“oh sorry, these are for you. i don’t mean to make you uncomfortable but i heard that you might be interested in me? you caught my eye at the stall yesterday, so i was wondering if you would want to grab lunch from the third-round knockout and then go watch the sunset at mt. tianheng? there’s this really cool trick i can do with my hydro vision where i can make the sunlight dance across the waypoint.”
you stared at him as you wordlessly took the silk flowers from his hands. the golden light of the setting sun cast his face in a beautiful sheen, softly showing off the gentle blush on his cheeks and the brilliant blue of his eyes. his auburn hair seemed to grow alive at the touch of the fiery light and all you could do was stare.
childe’s confidence seemed to wane with every passing second that you gazed at him, open mouthed, so he decided to save himself the embarrassment before hesitantly opening his own mouth.
“yes, i would love to” you quickly said. you smiled gently up at him.
“i would love to watch the sunset with you”
you felt your cheeks burning up as you looked at him with soft eyes. when he returned your expression with a dazzling smile of your own, you could feel yourself relax. yes, your heart rate was off the chart right now, but you were content. the sunset, childe, and the silk flowers was something you never knew you needed, but were glad you got. you had enough time later to worry about the oncoming mortification of how he found out you liked him.
a single notification appeared in your phone as the two of you walked laughing towards the mountain.
“you’re welcome <3″
BONUS:
“i know i’m too sexy for you to not fall in love with me” childe sighed dramatically as he leaned against you for support as the two of you went up the stairs.
you promptly rolled your eyes and pushed him down the steps as you walked ahead with his protests falling on deaf ears.

I’ll Always Be Here to Help You

Sam Wilson x Fem!Reader
Request:  If you don’t mind, I wanna request maybe something like sam and the reader previously being lovers in the past but they separate and she becomes a lab rat for hydra or something like that, and he saves her and what not. Very cliche yet cute in my opinion. 🙂🙂❤️   @jeonsblackgf-writes
A/N: Hey, All! I have to admit, this one made me a bit nervous. This is my first Marvel One shot and I wanted it to be so good so I hope you all like it. Also, this is written in 3rd person, which is new for me in one shots so I hope you don’t mind.
Warnings: torture, breakups, hydra stuff
H/C: Hair Color, S/C: Skin Color
There’s a moment when you’re watching something about to happen, something terrible, where you so badly want to turn your head, to avert your gaze, but something is still fixing it onto whatever is happening. Car crashes, accidents, injuries. You would never purposefully enjoy watching something so terrible, but your brain doesn’t make the connection between something about to happen and needing to shield yourself from it.
That was exactly how Sam Wilson felt as he watched the screen in front of him. He wanted so badly to turn, to leave the room. Steve had even approached him to try to get him to leave, but some sick part of his brain wasn’t allowing him to even step a foot away. He watched as the sick criminals injected something into her skin. Her skin. It was so grey, so much paler than her normal (S/C) tone. Bruises and bloody injuries lined nearly every part of her body.
Her (H/C) hair, which he had loved so much, was matted and dirty. It was so unlike you, so rare for you to be so weak, so hurt, that he almost didn’t recognize you at first. It was her screams of pain, her desperate pleading that brought him back to reality and allowed it to actually sink into his brain. Hydra was using her as a lab rat. They had no plans to actually turn her into anything, they were just testing all of their materials on her.
He hadn’t seen her in so long. If he had known she was in danger, if he had known that this would have happened, he would have done anything to make sure she was safe.
“I’m sorry, Y/N,” Sam sat down at the park bench, holding her hands tightly as he tried to explain the very thing he was dreading explaining to her. It was worse than he imagined. “I can’t force you to wait for me when I’m off god knows where, fighting in the Air Force.”
She turned her head. Sam Wilson, the man who meant everything to her, the man who she’d been with since she was in 10th grade, was breaking up with her to go into the military. He didn’t want her to have to forsake her health and life so that he could live his own. “Sam, I don’t care about where you’re going. I’ll go with you. There’s nothing keeping me here anymore.”
He shook his head. People walking by looked over as the two of them spoke. Tears poured out of her eyes. She was still trying to keep from sobbing out loud, although she wasn’t sure how much longer that would actually last.
“You need to live your own life,” He was strong with his statement. As a rescuer, his job would be dangerous and take up a considerable amount of time. “Even if you came with me, I wouldn’t be around much. I can’t drag you to some unknown location and then force you to stay there without any friends and family. This is for the best.”
Y/N didn’t want to even look at him. She turned your head slightly and crossed her arms. She felt like a child who wasn’t getting what they wanted. Sam meant everything to her and it hurt her that he was leaving without even giving her an option in the matter.
“I love ya, sweetheart,” He ran his hand along her back, trying to comfort her. He hated when she cried and it hurt him even more that he was the one causing those tears. “I’ll come back and visit you when I get the chance.”
That had been the last time he spoke to Y/N. The last time he spoke to her before she was captured, he left her on a bench. The guilt began to spread in his chest at the thought. She must have been so terrified, so lost when Hydra captured her, and he wasn’t there to help. “We need to get her.”
Steve nodded his head. “Where do you know her from?”
Sam watched as she withered in the chair they had her strapped in, screaming for help. His chest constricted at the idea of Y/N in so much pain, the idea of someone hurting you like that. She had absolutely no business being there. “Her and I dated when we were in high school and a little bit before I joined the military. I broke up with her.”
Steve’s face dropped. He had no idea that she had been so close to Sam. He knew that his friend must have been devastated. Moving forward, Cap placed his hand on Sam’s shoulder. “We’re gonna get her, Sam. I promise you.”
…
Sam was flying over the base, trying to find some weak point to enter through. It was easy to find the location. Because they had received the video via hacking, all they needed to do was look at the location codes. Rumors had been circulating about a Hydra base closeby, so once they had a general spot to look in, they found it rather quickly.
“Sam, the third window to the left in the back looks unguarded,” Clint said through the earpiece. “Goes into a small closet. We did a quick X-Ray check and it seems there’s no one guarding that either.”
“I’m goin’ in,” He said quickly, rerouting his position towards the back of the large base. He was surprised no one had found them yet. They were able to get into the base rather easily, which sent shivers up his spine. It was never this easy.
Apparently, it was right to be worried. As soon as he broke through the window and closed his wings to begin walking through, three men immediately charged him. He dodged them quickly, throwing one into the wall as he kicked another in the face, knocking him out. The last charged forward with a knife held in hand, but he quickly grabbed the man’s arm, bending it backwards. The sound of a bone snapping echoed through the small closet and he screamed out slightly in pain. Sam quickly pushed him into a cabinet while his defenses were down and slipped out before he tried anything else.
He walked carefully through the hallways, not wanting to draw any more attention to himself than he already did. He hoped that the three men were the only defenses they put up against him, but he seriously doubted that.
The one thing that kept him going was thinking about Y/N. She deserved none of this and he would make sure she was safe before anything else. He pressed on the small bud in his ear. “I’m in. You see anything else?”
“There’s a couple of guys fighting down here,” It was Natasha this time. “Steve and Clint are trying to hold them off while you’re down there. Try to get to her quickly.”
“Well, it’d be a whole lot easier if I could see a damn thing down here,” He turned the corner, but could only see about 3 foot in front of him. The combination of dark walls and a lack of windows made it quite dark. “You’d think an organization that has been around for this long would have enough money to turn on some lights every once in a while.”
“Ha Ha, Wilson,” Natasha said sarcastically. “Just find Y/N and get the hell out of there.”
He went into overdrive mode. Occasionally, someone would pass by, almost completely oblivious to the fact that they had an enemy raiding the base at the moment. They were unprepared and by the time they realized they had to fight, Sam already had them on the ground.
One room in particular stuck out to him. There was a breaker box right outside the door for electricity. This meant they likely needed quick access to the controls here. He was wary, unsure of what he may find inside. He prayed that if she was there, no one else would be. He needed to get her and leave as quickly as possible.
He opened the door quickly, ready for a large fight. There she was. Y/N. She was sweating, but shivering at the same time. Her eyes were huge as she turned towards the door, caught off guard by the loud sound. He would never forget the expression of relief that crossed her face as soon as she saw him.
There was a man frantically trying to undo her restraints, likely trying to evacuate her before Sam could get to her. He quickly rushed forward, tackling the man to the ground. He grabbed the man’s head, hitting it against the concrete floor until he was seemingly unconscious. Sam pried the key from the man’s hand and rushed to unlock them.
“Sam, what are you...what are you doing here?” Y/N questioned. She was shocked. She had prayed that someone would help her, that someone would save her from the absolute misery she was experiencing. The person she expected was definitely not her ex boyfriend.
“Found a video of you being used as a lab rat,” He started, moving to her legs now that her arms were free. “There was no way I was going to let you stay here. Can you walk?”
“I-I don’t think so,” She looked down at her hands. “I’ve been here for a few weeks so my legs are so weak.”
It hurt Sam almost physically that they hadn’t even let you out of the chair. As soon as you were completely unshackled, he leaned down and lifted you into his arms, quickly carrying you throughout the facility.
This time, there was seemingly no one left to fight. He went through the same way that he came in, making sure he didn’t take a bad turn. Taking the wrong turn here could be the difference between life and death. Steve was waiting in the same closet he’d broken into, his eyes surprised as soon as he saw Sam come through the door with the girl in his arms.
Steve helped Sam out and sprinted with them as they made their way back to the jet. He could feel his arms beginning to grow heavy but he knew he couldn’t let you go. You wouldn’t be able to walk by yourself. Your muscles were likely atrophied at this point.
As soon as the team got the go ahead, they were taking off. A doctor had rushed forward to help Y/N, taking care of the most dramatic injuries first. He cleaned off a few deep wounds. “These likely needed stitches when they happened but they’re too old now. Stitching them would just cause the infection to be trapped inside.”
Sam watched as they worked, making sure that she wasn’t afraid. He felt the need to use comic relief, as he normally did, but refrained. It would likely be in bad taste at the current moment. After a few hours of poking and prodding, there was a few minutes where Y/N could just soak everything in. She had been rescued, saved from the most terrible people by Sam, her old love.
Sam sat quietly on a chair next to the small gurney. He looked down at his hands but kept a close eye on you to make sure you didn’t need anything. “Thank you, Sam.”
He looked up, surprised by her words. Why would she ever think she needed to be thankful for him for this? He got her out of a situation that he wouldn’t have wished on anyone. “You could have just called me if you wanted my attention. You didn’t have to do all this.”
A grin crossed Y/N’s face. He was the same old Sam. Even though he was a superhero and looked quite different physically than he had before, he still had the same personality. “Yeah, I might have to think about that differently next time.”
Sam slowly walked towards you and grabbed your frail hands in his large ones, giving you a comforting squeeze. His eyes were sincere as he looked down at you. “I meant what I said when I saw you last, Y/N. I love you. Even though we haven’t seen each other in years, I’ll always be here to help you.”

In Session
This one is a doozy. Warnings: m/f sex, over stimulation, multiple orgasms, voyeurism, male masturbation, cum eating, use of mutant abilities in a sexual situation. 18+ please!
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The three of you have been home for a couple of weeks now and, unfortunately for poor Bucky, the pixie dust has worn off. All Steve has to do is breathe near you and you go off. He has apologized and apologized but you refuse to let it go. Steve tries to be patient with you. He accepts that what he said gutted you. He is trying to make it up to you but you rebuke all of his attempts.
Quite frankly the whole thing gives Bucky anxiety. As soon as he hears “You know what, Steve?” He reaches for the antacids. In two weeks he was leaving for a semi long trip with Sam and Nat. He needed to set you on the path to healing before he left you two alone. That’s why he hijacked you both and brought you to his therapist.
Dr. Coleman is far more gentle than his VA therapist. She specializes in PTSD and has worked with many first responders and members of law enforcement. She also helps couples to reacclimate following traumatic experiences. Bucky thought that, with the amount of trauma the three of you had suffered, she would be perfect to help.
Neither of you were pleased to be there. The doctor spoke ok Bucky’s behalf at the start of the session. “Steve, Y/N. I’m so glad you’re here. This is an important first step on the path to healing. You are here for each other as much as you are here for yourselves. What we know is the three of you love each other very much. I would like you to keep that in the front of your minds as we go through this journey. I do have a few ground rules. First, we will not raise our voices or become physical here or at home. Second, we will not resort to name calling. Third, we will not shut down when confronted. We will speak on our feelings. Can I gain your agreement on those rules?” You all nodded. “Wonderful. I just need the two of you to sign some consent forms and we’ll be on our way.”
You hated therapists of any kind. You never had a good experience. Grant it, your only experiences were forty something years ago. You were sure there were advances. Still, you were wary of this woman. She does seem to help Bucky. If this is what he needed, you’d do it for him. When she asked Steve to speak first you nearly gagged.
“Steve, tell me why you think we’re all here today.”
He sighed loudly and spoke in a monotone voice like he was in trouble in the principal’s office. “We’re here because our bickering is upsetting Buck.”
“Ok. Can you tell me why you and Y/N have been bickering so much lately?”
“Because he’s impossible to live with.” You said not so under your breath. Steve was quick to react but Dr. Coleman stopped him.
“Y/N, you will have your turn to speak. Please give Steve the courtesy of having his time uninterrupted.” Steve smirked at you. You wanted to reach over and slap him in his smug face but Bucky rested his hand over yours.
“We’re bickering because I said a horrible thing to Y/N and she refuses to forgive me.”
“Right. And what did you say?” Fuck it was like pulling teeth.
“I told her in the heat of an argument that I didn’t want a whore for a wife. But I said I didn’t mean it and that I was sorry. She refuses to move on.”
Dr. Coleman listened to both of your sides and gave you some short term and long term goals. She asked you to open the door for better communication. She understood why you were so upset, especially since his admission was premeditated. She tasked Steve with finding a way to come to terms with what you do. Now that he knows why he feels the way he does, it is time to confront those feelings as his own and stop projecting them onto you. She also suggested that, while Bucky was gone, the two of you should do couple things. Your love was not linked exclusively through Bucky.
The three of you left feeling a little lighter. You made promises to each other and you intended to keep them. The couple of weeks leading up to Bucky’s trip were fine. There was something hanging in the air that made Bucky nervous. Like you two were just waiting for him to leave so you could unload on each other. Steve promised he wouldn’t make faces when you left for your appointments. You promised not to snap at him over every little thing. He didn’t believe either of you.
The night before he left, Steve fell asleep on the couch. You were already in bed half asleep yourself. It was rare when you had alone time. When they were in deep Avengers mode, you cherished your privacy. Maybe it was time to start thinking of getting a bigger place.
Bucky came out of the shower still warm and a little damp. He smelled like cedar and fresh rain. He dropped his towel and slipped under the covers. Compared to him your skin felt cool when you pressed your bare ass against him. “You’re so warm, daddy.”
“I needed that hot shower after the training session Steve and I had. I wore him out.”
“Mmmm. I bet you did. Did you fuck in the gym again?”
His laugh rumbled against your back. “Not this time. Should I go wake him?”
“No. We haven’t had a moment alone since he moved in. This is gonna sound disgusting but I kind of like it when you’re sweet with me.” You didn’t have to say anymore. He slid his hands under your arms to palm your breasts and pressed gentle kisses along your neck and spine. With his knee he parted your legs so he could stroke your warmth. You whined in his mouth when he ran your slick over your clit. He took his time pumping his fingers inside of you coaxing tiny whimpers and moans out of your body. “Fuck me, Jamie.”
You had never called him Jamie during sex until you told him you loved him. His name falling from your lips became his favorite sound. You invoked him like you were invoking God praying for peace. Your cunt fluttered and squeezed his cock bringing you both to your end. “I love you, Jamie.”
“Oh my…I love you too, baby. I’m gonna miss you so much.” He stayed inside of you keeping his spend deep inside of your channel and fell asleep. Sam would be there early.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Your calendar was pretty full the first week Bucky was gone. Most of your appointments were during the day. Steve was back and forth between the apartment and compound. You settled into a pleasant routine like a normal couple with typical careers and predictable schedules. You even got through a meeting when a realtor without a single clenched jaw.
“Do you have time for lunch?” He was so hopeful. You promised Bucky.
“Yeah. I think so.” He took your hand and held it all the way to a cute little spot down the street. “I like this neighborhood. Not far from the subway. Walkable.”
“I like it too. I’ve seen a ton of kids out and about.” That made you want to cringe but you held it in. None of you have had the cliche conversation about your futures. Since you were the only one who could bear children, you figured you should speak up.
“Do you want kids?” You kept your eyes on your salad.
“Yeah. I really do. Have you um, been checked out? Can you have children?” God this was awkward.
“I can. I wonder if Hydra has successfully bred a serum baby. Like, it altered our DNA. I wonder what would happen.” His brow furrowed. He really hadn’t thought about that.
“I will have to look into it. That’s something we need to know I guess. Why do we feel so weird around each other?”
“Right?!” You were so glad he felt it too.
“Are you ever going to forgive me?” He asked so quiet and quickly that you almost didn’t hear.
“Before I answer that question can I ask a question?” He nodded. “Why are you ok with me having your babies but not being your wife? I know in therapy you said it scared you and you didn’t care for my clients. I get all of that. Those are valid things. I can’t help but think you don’t like the optics.” That was the million dollar question. Could Captain America be out as polyamorous? You felt like Steve might be a closet Republican. Most of the republicans that were your clients were the biggest freaks.
“There’s nothing our media team can’t spin. I’m not embarrassed by you and Buck. My reasons for disliking your job are exactly what I said. I feel like being out about our relationship puts a target on your back.”
“But that’s not what you said, Steve. You said ‘I don’t want a whore for a wife’. That implies something completely different. I like what I do. Those rich assholes and politicians put money in my purse. A lot of my clients are like us. Freaks of nature. They can’t have normal relationships. I help them. I don’t judge their abilities or physical mutations. We just fuck and they feel normal for a while. Like the guy I’m seeing tonight. He just wants to feel normal.”
Steve was quiet for the rest of lunch. You gave him a lot to think about. He had no idea you saw yourself as a freak of nature or that you saw him that way. Everyone celebrated what Steve was but essentially threw you away. The people on your client list who he saw as villains have been tossed out by the society he swore to protect. He guessed he jumped the shark a bit by even bringing up marriage. Not like you were there yet.
You and Bucky seemed to have a don’t ask don’t tell policy regarding your situation. That was not Steve. He wouldn’t be satisfied until he knew without a doubt that you were safe. Tonight he will follow you. If he ever wanted to move passed his own feelings, he had to know.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Tonight you were seeing Erik Lensherr which meant you had to be prepared for anything. He never beat you like other idiots did. He wasn’t stupid. Why hit you when it doesn’t hurt? He liked to really bring you to the brink of pain with pleasure. Sometimes he edged you for hours. He loved when you were a drooling sobbing mess begging for relief. That’s what turned him on. After sessions with him, you always took the following day off.
You and Steve had dinner together. You were both much more relaxed. He sat in the bathroom while you got ready. You picked a dress and made sure to have lots of mascara on. Mascara tears were Erik’s favorite. While you put on your jewelry, he stood behind you and kissed your shoulders. You missed his touch. You leaned in and let him put his hands on you.
“You look beautiful, honey.” he said against the back of your neck.
“Thank you. Why don’t you take the day off tomorrow? We can stay in bed all day.”
He smiled that beautiful sunshine smile at you that made your insides liquid. “Really? Does that mean you forgive me?”
You giggled, “No. It means I want to get reacquainted. Forgiveness is not so easy for me. Maybe if you ever put a ring on it, I’ll forgive you.”
“I’ll take it. Will you be out late?” He kissed his way down your neck.
“I’m not really sure. If I know I won’t be coming home I’ll text you. I wouldn’t wait up.” You allowed him to really kiss you. My lord Steve Rogers is an amazing kisser. He is confident and strong in his movements. He kisses with his whole body. Hands roam your back and and shoulders while he presses your body into his. His eyes barely close, making his lashes flutter on the tops of his cheeks. And he softly moans which drives you crazy. Well, at least Erik won’t have to warm you up.
“I love you. Be safe. Call me if absolutely anything is off. Promise.”
“Yes, sir. I love you, too.”
He gave you a thirty second head start before he followed you on his bike. You met Erik at a beautiful brownstone. He held the door for you and kissed both of your cheeks. Steve saw him pour you a drink and direct you to the sofa by the small of your back. You looked comfortable enough. It was clear the two of you were friends. Then, he sat next to you. His movements became predatory. He always kept his hands on you.
Soon he was taking your drink and leading you up the stairs. It was the moment of truth. He could walk away satisfied that you were safe or climb the fire escape to watch. The thought of seeing you in flagrante was turning him on way more than he should have been. Option B it was.
He climbed to the second story where he sat stock still in a darkened corner. The window was cracked a bit so he could hear everything.
The two of you kissed passionately. Erik’s hands found your zipper and made quick work of shedding your dress. He pushed you to the bed which was decorated by an ornate metal head and footboard. He raised his hand and part of the bed broke off bending around your wrists to bind you.
“Too tight, Princess?”
“No, sir.” Next he attached a spreader bar to your ankles springing your legs open wide. “Color?”
“Green.” Your voice was steady but your breath was heaving in your chest. Steve wondered if it was nerves or excitement.
Erik knelt beside you and stroked your face. “How many times shall I make my Princess cum tonight hmm? Shall we try for six?”
“Yes, sir.”
“Good girl.” He produced a string of metal balls from his pocket and popped them one by one into your mouth. His lips were on yours again. His tongue moved the balls around your mouth clacking them on your teeth. When he was satisfied with their saturation he pried your mouth open with his thumb and removed them. He parted your folds and sunk the balls into your dripping hole one by one. His fingers danced swirling the orbs inside of your cunt. Your back arched off the bed. “Does that feel good, Princess?”
“Yes , sir. So good.”
“Excellent. Princess, I want you to count out loud each time you come. I will edge you for one hour if I don’t hear you.”
“Ah! Yes, sir.” The coil in your belly was building. Erik smiled down on your writhing body. You tried to bring your thighs together but the bar was made of steel. Unless you focused you couldn’t break it.
“Look at you. I bet if I touched you even a little you would cum.” He ran his index finger lightly over your clit and you fell apart.
“One! Oh my…one.” You moaned and that beautiful sound went right to Steve’s cock. He stroked himself outside of his pants at first. He wanted to last as long as you. It would be difficult.
“Good girl. That’s my good, Princess. Doing so well.”
He kept the balls swirling while he licked a stripe up your cunt. His lips closed over your clit. Your hips bucked wildly against his face. You threw your head back against the bed and screamed, “Fuck! Two!”
He pressed the pads of his fingers over your clit and rubbed furiously. “Three” you whimpered.
He smacked your pussy hard. “Didn’t hear you, love.”
“Three, sir.”
“You getting tired on me? You have three more. Color, darling.”
“Green, sir.”
“Oooh. She’s being a warrior tonight. Give me one more in my mouth and I’ll take two on my cock.”
“Yes, sir.”
He went back to licking your snatch. You were sonsensitive. His big hands held you still while he licked and nibbled. Steve leaned on the railing panting. He couldn’t take it anymore. He unsheathed his throbbing member and wrapped it tight in his fist.
You got to four and tears started streaking your face. Erik pulled out the balls and tossed them aside. You mewled at the emptiness in your pussy. Erik undressed. When his cock was free he ran the leaking tip around the hole pushing in ever so slightly. The stretch made you cry out.
“So wet for me. You’re leaking and I haven’t even pushed all the way in. Do you want more?” You nodded so he pulled away. “Use your words or you won’t get to cum.”
“More please, sir. I need it.” He slammed into you letting his pelvis hit your clit hard.
“Was that five, my darling?”
“N…no, sir. M’so close.”
“Give it to me.” His hips pumped faster and faster. You screamed and nearly arched yourself in half.
“Fiiiiive. Yellow, sir.”
“Oh you feel so good around my cock. One more and then I’ll paint your belly and tits.”
Steve pumped his fist in time with Erik’s hips. When you came the sixth time, so did he. Hot ropes of cum dribbled onto his hand. He kept stroking while Erik finished.
“Think you can go for seven? It would make me so proud.” You were much too sensitive.
“Red! Red red red.” Erik pulled out immediately and jerked himself all over your belly and breasts. Out of breath he fell over onto the bed next to you. You looked wrecked. With a wave of his hand your wrists were free. He undid the spreader and kissed you deeply.
“Water, Princess?”
“Yes, please.” He brought you a glass and held it to your lips. He tossed you your dress. You didn’t clean yourself up. That was part of the scene. You went home still sticky with his cum. Steve was feral at the thought of licking another man’s seed off of you. He made it down and onto his bike before you got to the door.
You took your payment and kissed Erik goodbye.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Steve made it into the house moments before you. He changed his clothes and acted like he had been home all night. His heart thumped loud in his ears when he heard your keys in the door.
“Hey, honey. Didn’t expect you so early.” You patted him on the head as you limped into the bathroom.
“Need a shower.”
“Can I join you?” The thought of cumming again nearly made you cry.
“Yes, but only to shower.” He jumped up and followed you. You shook out your hair and went to unzip your dress but his hands were there already.
“You look so pretty right now. All fucked out. You were such a good girl tonight.” Every nerve in your body prickled. He kissed down your neck and the top of your spine.
“Steve, did you follow me?” Your voice was low. Your expression unreadable.
“Are you mad? I just wanted peace of mind. I got a lot more than that. I’m not saying I’ll be ok every time. But, if I’m honest, I’ve been thinking about licking that cum off of you.” Your whole body went warm. A smirk pulled at the corner of your lips as you edged down your dress.
“Did you like what you saw, sweet boy?”
“Mmm. Very much.”
“Did you make yourself cum watching us?”
“I did.” He ground his hard cock into your ass cheek.
“I’m so sticky. Clean me up before we shower.” He knelt in front of you and licked all of the dried cum off of your belly. “Mmm. Good boy.”
“I need to be inside of you so bad. Please can I fuck you?”
“Please fuck me, Steve.”’ He brought you into the shower and soaped you up. After the two of you were clean he kissed you fiercely. He lifted your hips and drove into you. “I can’t wait until Jamie gets home so I can tie you to the chair while he fucks my brains out. Wanna watch Jamie fuck me, sweet boy?” He moaned loudly.
“Yes, ma’am. Wanna watch him pound this pretty pussy.” It wasn’t long before you both lost it.
You got into bed and stretched out on his chest. “Y/n?”
“Yeah?”
“I had no idea I would like that.”
You giggled, “We learn something new about ourselves every day.” You both completely passed out.
The next morning Bucky got home early. He was shocked that Steve wasn’t already up. He found the two of you sleeping soundly. He nearly cried at how content you were. Steve opened his eyes and pressed his finger to his lips. Bucky got undressed and crawled in behind you. He pressed a kiss onto your shoulder and laid an arm across your back. He and Steve laced their fingers together.
“Did you make up?” He whispered.
“Something like that. It’s a long story.” You stirred a little.
“Jamie?”
“I’m home, baby doll. Go back to sleep.” He kissed you again and pulled the covers over you.
“K. Steve’s a kinky freak.” You buried your face into Steve to shield you from the sun streaming in from the curtains.
Bucky raised an eyebrow and smiled. Steve kept his eyes closed. “What the fuck happened?”
“Get some sleep. I promise we’ll show you later.” He kissed the back of Bucky’s hand and fell back to sleep. Bucky forced himself to close his eyes. He couldn’t imagine what was going to happen but he couldn’t wait to find out.

Don't do this to me.
Word Count:
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x BlackFem!OC
Warning: Angst, Sadness.
Summary: Charmaine's first mission with the team but it doesn't end well and the team loses a member.
Go to the series masterlist before you read this chapter, if this is your first time: Charmaine
A/N: Okay so I feel way more comfortable posting this chapter after I said I wasn't going to post the rest. Let me know if this cringy, I love feedback.
------------------
The day was Friday and it was the same as any other day, Charmaine was back home from her class, Peter was getting out of school, the team either train or helped find the location of the Hydra base that held the scepter. One month after the avengers been staying in the tower. The relationship between Charm and Bucky was growing every day, at times they act like a couple without even noticing.
"Did you enjoy dinner?" Charm questioned while washing the few dishes that were in the sink. Bucky walked over placing a kiss on her cheek and putting his dirty plate in the water.
"I loved it, that lobster mac and cheese was amazing."
She blushed at the comment and his boldness of him kissing her on the cheek. He winked then walked over to the couch sitting down beside Sam, joining him in the movie that was playing. Bucky let go of the nervous breath he was holding,  he seemed confident on the outside but on the inside, he was scared as fuck.
Charmaine wasn't no easy girl that he would flirt and take home the same night in the '40s. She was the girl that he wants to get to know fully, learn the little things about, be himself around. So most time he was around Charm, he was nervous as hell praying that he wouldn't say something dumb.
Charmaine hummed one of her favorite songs while cleaning up the last dish thinking about a certain long-haired brunette. She turned around coming face to face with spiderman who was hanging upside down.  The 21-year old let out a yelp clutching her heart.
"Peter don't do that !! What the hell dude."
"You okay Charm?" Bucky questioned from the couch looking over at her. He saw Peter hanging down so his concerns washed away. "Oh, Peter just scared her."
"Yeah, you alright?" Sam asked as well not taking his eyes off the screen, ignoring what Bucky just said.
"Sorry Champagne, I just came back from patrol and I rushed in here before you left to ask you this. Can you make brownies? I wasn't here the last time you made them and everyone said they were good. " Peter rambled as he let himself come down, sitting on top of the perfectly clean marble countertop.
"They were!" Sam chimed in.
"See! I want to try them." Peter pout poking out his lip.
"I be spoiling you guys I swear. I'll make some just for you Peter."  Charm groaned playfully, opening the cabinet grabbing the brownie box. "Get your ass off my counter, I just cleaned it."
Peter hopped off happily," So? You and Bucky?"
"Peter if you continue to say something about that topic, I'm not making the brownies." She warned looking in the fridge for the eggs.  Maria walked in from the elevator with a serious face grabbing everyone's attention.
"They found the base. Cap said suit up and meet them in the lab in 5. Peter, Happy is downstairs waiting for you."
Everyone nodded and Charm hugged Peter. Tony had let slide with one of his kids going on the mission, not both so Peter was going home until they got back. She kissed his forehead.
"This mission shouldn't take long, I'll be back to make your brownies. Be good for Aunt May."
" I am Champagne, be safe and please come back. "
"I will Petey. I'll always come back."
-----------
Charmaine walked in beside Sam as they were the last two to join the rest in the lab. She found a spot beside Scott. Everyone was in full armor ready to go except Bruce and Tony because you know.
"Glad of you two to finally make it," Tony said sarcastically then started swiping away on his tablet. It projects a hologram of what seems to be Rome. "We are going to Rome. Intel tells us that hydra has a camp in the countryside."
The hologram shows a huge vineyard with a building that looked abandoned with little buildings surrounded.
"Inside sources tell us that the person who is over this organization called M.A.Z.E is supposed to be visiting any moment now. We're taking down two operations at once so be prepared for this mission to be one of the hardest." Maria said reading something off her tablet. Charm snuck a glance at Bucky who was in his winter soldier attire. She hoped that this mission wasn't going too hard for him.
"Brief explanation. Stay focused at all times, take out as many as you can, feeling overwhelmed? Walk it off. Get in, Get out. Anyone that has the chance grabs the scepter." Steve spoke with determination.
"When we get there we fight anyone that comes our way. Sam or Stark will find a way to get us in. Charm you stay by someone at all times okay? first mission and we don't want to lose you."
"Gotcha." Charm nod her head understanding his rule.
-------------
Inside the quinjet, she sat beside Bucky. Both had their mask off to communicate with each other. Everyone was in either their own zone or in a conversation. Bucky closed his eyes so he could converge on how to not lose control of himself, he didn't want to completely turn back into the winter soldier.
"You like my suit?" Charmaine asked softly taking him out of his trance.
Bucky turns his head giving a smile, "I like it. You make it look good and very badass."
"I feel like a badass." She jokes making them laugh. As their laughter died down, Charm grabbed his hand pulling it in her lap. "Are you okay about this whole mission? I know history with you and hydra isn't really that good."
"I should be good, I just don't want to be captured again, you know? Steve and I are still working on me not reacting to my trigger words. It's hard but it's working. Plus I got you fighting by my side so we are going to be the coldest duo."
"Well I'm not going to let that happen, you protect me so I'm going to always protect you . If you don't mind, I could help with the trigger words? I'll be there to hold your hand or something." Charm said with quiet empathy giving him a soft smile. " Coldest duo? Well, this mission should be over in no time. When we get back can we finish watching Legally Blonde? You fell asleep before it started leaving me up by myself."
"I'll check with Steve when we do it the next time, I wouldn't want you to get hurt if anything happened," Bucky said nodding his head towards Steve. " And I told you that I was tired! You didn't listen and put on the movie anyway."
"I'm not going to get hurt and I thought you were playing!" Charm said in defense then calmed down. "Hey, Bucky?"
"Hmm?"
"I'm always going to be here for you okay? You mean the world to me and I don't want to lose you under no circumstances." She said holding his hand to her face. Charmaine looked him in the eyes, showing that she was serious. A world without Bucky is a world that she can't live in. She needs him.
His hand opened and Charm cuddled to it. Bucky looked at her in admiration rubbing his thumb against her cheek. He admits it, Buchanan was head over heels for her,"You mean the world to me as well so don't think you're going anywhere. You're my lucky charm."
In the next four hours, they had arrived Rome's countryside and everyone prepared for landing. Charm stood next to her dad as his Iron Man suit connects over his body. Before his helmet covered his face, Tony turned to Charm.
"Kiddo, be safe alright? Don't get hurt or anything."
"I will." She reassured and he kissed her forehead. 'Now thinking about it Tony has a weird way of expressing his feelings' Charmaine thought to herself. The doors to the jet opened and Steve spoke up, "Stark, Sam you're up!"
-------------------------
A/N: I am not good with action so skipping to the juicy part.
-------------------------
Charmaine ran down the hallway trying to find the exit to the big building. Thor didn't retrieve the scepter and they were still looking but time was winding down. She ran into this room where there were big computer screens on the wall with a closed-cell in the corner.
"Ahh, I have been looking for you." A female voice came from behind her making Charmaine turn around swiftly. "I'm Mazikeen and you are going to be on in my unit."
The room filled with tension as they circled each other not losing sight of one another. "Unit? I'm not going to be anyone's slave. Let alone let you lay a finger on me, so let go of that stupid ass idea you have." Charmie snapped holding her fist up. Mazikeen winked getting in defense mode as well.
"Snarky? I like that. Let's do this shall we?"
She swings on Charm who easily blocks it. The two fight hand-to-hand combat for a couple of minutes, none stop. Charmaine was getting tired but she held her weight up. She kicked Mazikeen on her back, placing her foot on her neck. The Demon grabbed her ankle smirking then rolled over making Charm fall on her side. She gets on top, pulling out her knife.
"This won't hurt one bit. Well, maybe just a little."
"Anyone have eyes on Charmaine? The building is going to blow in 3 minutes." Tony's voice came through the comm.
"I'm busy at the moment!" Charm yelled pushing Mazikeen's arms up so she wouldn't get stabbed in the face. The dark skin girl moved one of her hands to the side grabbing the demon's hair yanking it.
Mazikeen fell off and it gave her enough time to get back to her feet. Charm kicked her to stay down but Mazi grabs her foot mid-air then twist it making her body twirl, falling on the ground.
"I will have you to myself and make you my eternal flame. Right along with the other 3 elements. You are going to be the most powerful." Mazikeen leans down grabbing her hair yanking it making Charmaine cry out in pain. The demon moved her mouth close to Charm's ear with a sinister smirk.
"I'm going to have you kill anyone that stands in our way."
A guard's body flew in the door from someone kicking him through. Bucky walks into the room angrily seeing Mazikeen holding a handful of Charm's brown hair.
He runs over punching her in the face making the demon drop his lover. Bucky grabbed Mazikeen by the neck with his metal hand dragging her towards the closed-cell.
The bounty hunter's eyes widen from the pressure that was on her throat, she hit his arm repeatedly but that didn't do anything. Bucky flings her into the closed cell like she was discarded trash.
Charm sits on the ground rubbing the back of her head, the words haunting her mind. Bucky goes back over to help his best girl onto her feet.
"We need to out of here now."
But it was muffled because of the mask. She nodded putting her weight on him as they walked to the exit. On the roof, the two ran to the middle.
"We're on the roof! Bring the Quinjet!" Bucky yelled taking off his mouth cover. Charm was hunched over trying to catch her breath, she literally just fought 5 minutes straight now she doing a full-out run. She needed more exercise.
The explosion sounded off and the building shook. Just in time, the Quinjet hovered down lowly so they could get on. A huge crack in the roof separated the two.
The building was going to collapse.
They looked around frantically as Charm's side start to slowly but gradually fall.
"Jump!" Bucky yelled, holding out his hand.
Charm did as told, not even second-guessing, leaping off the fallen building. She catches the side of the broken roof, barely holding on with one hand. All she needed to do was use her upper body to lurch her forward so her other hand could grab his. Bucky bends over, reaching for her hand, not taking his blue eyes off her brown ones.
Charmaine's eyes were filled with fear, feeling herself slowly losing grip, "I can't reach it!"
"Use your strength, Charmaine. Grab my hand!"
"I can't, Bucky; my body is too tired. I feel myself slipping!"
"Charm, grab his hand! Bucky, you need to need to grab Steve's hand. That building is going to collapse any second! He will pull you guys up." Natasha said in the comms but was ignored by both.
Bucky leans forward more without noticing that he might fall himself, "I'm not leaving without you charmaine. grab my hand!"
"I'm trying!" Charm yelled when she tries to lift herself; it aches in pain. She drops her hand down in pain. Tears clouded her vision as she knew this was it; Bucky stared at her scratched-filled face knowing what she was thinking.  He shook his head; He can't lose her, not now, " No Charm, you're leaving with me!"
Charmie could feel the building she was holding on to began to fall, sobbing; she looked into Bucky's blue eyes one last time. "I'm sorry Bucky."
"No Charmie, you have time. Just grab my hand! P-Please." Bucky yelled as tears clouded his vision. "You're my lucky charm. I need you!"
The building collapsed, and his feet slip from under him. A hand grabs his keeping Bucky from falling in the rubble; Natasha lowered it down in time just for Steve to grab the back of his armor from falling with her.
"No!" Bucky stared in horror watching Charmaine screamed, falling into the explosion reaching out for him.
Tumblr media
Steve gasp as tears fell down his face seeing the horrible fate of his sister.
There was nothing either could do.
With the help of others, Steve pulled Bucky into the quinjet.
Bucky laid on his stomach sobbing with heartache.
Tears weld in Thor's eyes as he saw that Charmaine wasn't on the jet. This didn't seem real to him; he couldn't accept it, "Where is Charmie? Why isn't my sister on this jet?!"
"Steve, where is Charmie?" Natasha asked, slowly getting up from the pilot seat as Clint took over. Her heart raced, hoping that he would say that Tony has her or something. Bruce grabbed her waist, but she snatched away from his touch.
"Natasha, sit down."
"Don't tell me to sit down! Where is she?!"
Steve couldn't say anything as he drops to his knees, breaking down. Sam catches him before he hit the floor. "I got you man."
The jet doors opened as Tony flew in; he raised an eyebrow to see the team in tears. He was getting files in this underground room but got out in time just as the building collapsed. He noticed someone was missing.
"What's going on? Where is Charmaine?"
No one answer, which made Tony panic.
"Where is my daughter?!"
"Tony, she died; she f-fell into the explosion," Scott informed him while wiping his tears.  Her falling replayed in Bucky's mind like it was his personal hell. Charm reached out for him, and he couldn't save her. He failed.
Tony's world crumbled as tears blurred his vision looking around the jet as if she was hiding, "What? Barnes tell me he's lying! Where the hell is my daughter!"
Bucky sat up now with his knees to his chest; he couldn't stop crying no matter how much he tried. He lost the one person that meant the most to him other than Steve, the person he saw a future with. His best girl is no longer here.
Tony sat down in a seat in disbelief; for once in his life, he cried. He completely broke down, not being able to hold it. She filled the lonely hole in his heart; everyone he ever loved was gone, and the person who made him happy.
Was gone too.
------------------
It was evening time when they got back; they had been gone all day.
The living room was silent; the avengers sat down sulking and mourning. Bucky squeezed his eyes tightly closed as the memory of her falling hit his mind like a truck. Tony had his head in his hands, just letting his mind run all over the place. The elevator ding, and a frantic Peter walked out looking for Tony.
"Mr. Stark, I'm here! What happened? Is everyone okay? Are you okay?" Peter rambled, walking into the living room. He noticed everyone's sad behavior, then looked around for Champagne. "Guys?  Did something happen? Where is Charmaine?"
Tony gets up from the couch, going to Peter, engulfing him in a hug. Peter hugged back, shock that he did that but was still confused about what happened. "Mr. Stark, what's wrong?"
"She n-not co-coming back, kiddo."
"H-huh?"
"I'm s-sorry, kid."
"N-no, you're lying! This isn't a joking matter, Mr.Stark; everyone can put smiles on their fucking faces, and Champagne can pop up from under the couch." Peter said abruptly, pulling back from Tony's arms; doing a 360 to look around for a camera. Steve rubbed his hand over his mouth to keep from crying again.
"Queens, it's not a jo-joke."
Peter's face reddens from anger and sadness," She said she was coming back! She promised! What happened to her?!" Charmaine promised without even promising him because she always comes back. Peter prayed that this a sick ass joke; she was his best friend. Him and Her against the world.
"She fe-fell into the explosion Peter," Bruce said sadly; with that, Natasha broke down in his arms. Peter wasn't taking this well, and that broke everyone's heart even more.
"N-no guys, stop this, pl-please."Peter cried, shaking his head, then he looked Tony in the eyes. Her father nodded his head as a way of saying that it's true. Peter broke down mentally, " My Champagne is su-supposed to be here with me. My best friend is.."
Tony pulls his son into his arms; tears threaten to spill.
Peter sobbed his heart out.

2:43 a.m.
Bucky's body lurched forward after grabbing the gun that was kept under his pillow for 'emergency purposes' raised at...
Steve.
"Bucky, drop the gun. It's me."
"Shit, I'm sorry, Steve." His fingers slowly lost grip of the gun, and the weapon dropped to his lap. His chest drew up sharply with each breath as he tried to control his rapidly beating heart. Steve sat on the edge of his bed.
"It's fine Buck, you were yelling, so I came in here to see if everything was alright."
"I should be fine."
"Okay, I'm going back to bed and try to get some sleep before my morning exercise." Steve sighs, getting up from the bed. He wasn't getting any sleep at all, but he didn't want to tell Bucky that.
"Steve?" Bucky called before he could leave out the room. Steve stopped in his tracks looking at him.
"Yeah?"
"Can you stay with me and watch Legally Blonde? I was supposed to watch it with Ch-Charm when we came back, but..."
"I'll stay Bucky; I don't mind."
Bucky gave a small smile getting out of bed, grabbing some pillows and the comforter. Steve grabbed his laptop from the desk to find the movie. 5 minutes later, the two super soldiers were lying on the floor, eyes glued to the computer enjoying the movie.

Hey there I'm really enjoying your work. Please could I make a blaine x reader request? Maybe one day they get really injured and blaine is called to the rescue and he turns her out of fear of losing them. When they wake maybe he'd ramble on about how sorry he is for making her a zombie but he just loves her and fluff. She could interrupt his rambling with a kiss perhaps as she feels the same.
I hope this isn't too long and that your college work is going ok 😊
Hi! Thank you so much Im glad you’re enjoying my work
“Let her go! You can’t do this!”
Ravi yelled at the anti-zombie hillbillies who had captured Don E and Blaine’s girlfriend, Don E was chained to the wall, but they planned to let he chains go and let him devour you, to show the world how awful zombies really were, you stood there, silently looking numb as you tried to remain calm, “Yes we can, for the good of America, until then though you will also be chained up, across from our little monster here so he can watch his next meal like the animal he is.” He smirked at Ravi, who was staring at him wide-eyed that he would let a human be killed like this. He started to grab your arms, yanking and pulling you about till you were in Don E’s room, he had his eyes closed and his head back like he was sleeping, they chained you up from the other side of the room and left, faintly down the hall you heard Ravi talking to the mad idiots saying he needed to do some tests on the zombie first so they all left to get more beers and guns in case things got ugly.
“You’re boyfriend better come soon, (y/n), I don’t want to hurt you but I know they’ll make me, you’ve always been nice to me so I’ll try and hold off as long as I can, it’s too bad Blaine never made you a zombie.” He said, opening up his eyes and smiling at you, you smiled back and nodded. Seconds later Ravi came in, running to Don E. “Have you got a phone or something that could help me get the two of you out of this?” He asked hopefully, Don E thought to himself and then remembered he had a phone in his pocket, “Oh yeah I do! It’s in my left sock!” Ravi quickly took off his shoe and sock, snatching the small phone out, he tried to type in Liz’s number but he couldn’t remember, “It’s got Blaine’s number on it you know? I’m not so sure he’ll save me but he’ll definitely save (Y/n).” Don E mentioned, “Okay, I’ll text Blaine what’s happening then, I’m sorry this is happening to the both of you.” Ravi ran out after putting Don E’s shoe and sock back on to make it look like nothing happened. “Don you know your his best friend right? He might act like a heartless idiot but he doesn’t share his trauma with everyone.” You mentioned to him which was all very true. “Thanks (y/n), and yeah I guess so.”
After an hour or two of waiting the hillbillies came back, laughing and arms full with beers and guns, they looked at the laptop to see the livestream hit a million views, cheering and laughing to themselves while Ravi downed a bottle of alcohol knowing this probably isn’t going to end well. They started to try and walk into yours and Dons holding room and Ravi finally said something, “Look you cannot kill a human just to show the world that Zombies are bad, I mean have you ever seen a video game where a zombie doesn’t eat people?” He tried hard to persuade them but all it did was end with him getting knocked out from a gun being shoved hard against his head. One waited in the room to release them once the others were ready to watch it themselves. And once he got the all clear he did, your heart beat raced up as you felt the chains get looser, you looked at Don E’s and so was his, his eyes were full zombie mode now, he had been chained there for days maybe even weeks without food, of course he’d be starving. Backing into a corner as much as you could you almost prayed in your head that Blaine would come busting in and save you, but you thought maybe not this time, maybe this was really it.
Don E sighed at the feeling of no more chains, the hillbillies were laughing and then started shouting, “Go on then demon! Feast on the poor helpless little girl!” One shot you in your stomach, the bullet creating a waterfall of blood to escape and slowly drip down you, you fell to the floor on your knees as you tried to cope with the immense pain, but then all the lights went out, little murmurs of “What the hell’s going on?” Echoed through the room but then they heard someone screaming in pain followed by growling. “What the hell!” The hillbillies whispered amongst themselves, little did they know your boyfriend had came just in time, he pressed the button in the control room to open the cage which made Don E laugh as he realised in relief he wasn’t going to hurt you, but he was about to be fed. He ran towards the noise of the murmuring biting into one and then another, bullets were fired everywhere, you only missed them because you were on the floor bleeding out, half unconscious, the lights turned back on, and Blaine came running in the room, full zombie mode like Blaine but he was almost growling at the sight of you dying on the floor thanks to these so called humans. He ran towards you, kneeling down as he took your face in his hands, your eyes me this red ones, “I gotta do it (y/n), if I don’t I’ll loose you and I really couldn’t live with myself if that happened.” He whispered, you nodded in pain cringing as you tried to sit up and comfort him, He instead leaned down to you so you would stop moving and hurting yourself more. “It’s gonna be okay, do what you gotta do.” You reached up to his face, leaning your foreheads together, Liz and a few others were already there tearing everyone apart so they were undisturbed.
Blaine closed his eyes as he sighed, he didn’t want this life for you, it was awful but if it came to you dying or becoming one of the undead he’d choose the second option in seconds. He leaned backwards, put his hand in yours and scratched your palm, He waited anxiously for a few seconds, not even knowing himself how he would know it worked. You sighed after a few minutes, your consciousness fully coming back, “it’s working, don’t worry too much or else you’ll get wrinkles.” You joked making him crack a small smile. “I’m so sorry I had to do it, if there’s anything you need-” Blaine tried to say but you cut him off, “Stop being sorry, you saved me.” You slowly started to sit up, surprisingly it still hurt but not as much. “Hey, (Y/n)! Get your ass over here, I got you some food zombie sister!” Don yelled across the room while he was munching on a brain, Blaine told you to stay and he would go and get it for you, “We’ll still have to get that bullet out but it won’t kill you at least.” He spoke while picking up half the brain Don was holding out towards him, you only now noticed his zombie mode face had gone away, Blaine sat back down beside you and held out the brain, “And before you ask yes you will get unlimited brains from me, anything you want I’ll get you it.” You held the brain in your hand and then slowly started to bite and chew on it, “...What if I just want a hug from you right now?” You asked, Blaine smiled and rolled his eyes, he wrapped his arms around you, making you feel safe, you saved a bit of the brain he gave you for him though. “Here you can finish it,” You gave it to him which he put back in your hands, “Nope, it’s yours, you can’t make me eat it I can eat later.” He insisted, still feeling guilty for turning you. “Stop being guilty jeez, you only did it to save me and I’m okay with that okai?” He nodded but looked at the floor, “Plus me, being a zombie might have some perks don’t you think?” You raised an eyebrow at him with a smirk, eating the bit of brain you saved for him, he realised what you meant and giggled to himself, “wow, so zombie you is naughty, i love that.”

A/N: Sorry, I couldn’t do it. I just couldn’t. Ghost mode is officially dead. It was stronger than me.
I will, however, disappear from tumblr once Release Week begins, but in the mean time enjoy some words that I wrote.
Tumblr media
In which she makes a friend, Part Seven
“Cassian, for Cauldron’ sake, stop with your fidgeting”
“I am not fidgeting, Azriel” Cassian said, eyeing the females training and making sure that Devlon was at least trying to teach them.
“You almost blinded me with your wings three times in the last ten minutes” the Shadowsinger huffed back, taking a step back and putting some distance between them.
Cassian just snorted but did check himself, realising he really was flaring his wings a little, a nervous tick that came out whenever he was distressed with something.
Not that he was recalling his conversation with Nesta during training yesterday, how he had been delighted to see her improvement and her beginning to master her powers.
Not that he was remembering how he could hear her heart beating quickly when he had pulled her close.
Not that he had had to muster every ounce of strength and control he had to not fall at her feet and beg for a kiss, for a touch, for anything when he smelled her scent.
Not that he had felt guilty of not telling her of the Illyrian revolution that was probable to happen.
Not that he was remembering how his heart had stopped when he asked her if she wanted to leave.
He would do that. Would help her walk away. From him, from the situation Feyre had forced upon her. But it didn’t mean it would not hurt him to watch her go.
Didn’t mean he would not reach the conclusion that he had failed her once again.
Cassian thought he and Nesta were making progress, but after yesterday he stopped trying to convince himself of that.
Things between them were awkward when they saw each other again at the afternoon training with Kaelin, and for once he was grateful for the boy’s constant chattering.
It was a good way to take his mind of his worries.
And the way Nesta seemed to relax and almost smile whenever Kaelin said something or nailed move was a relief to Cassian’s troubled heart. It was an accidental blessing that he cherished with all his life.
No, Cassian preferred to think that his actual state of mind was due to all the new documents and information he would have to go through after Azriel’s arrival, and maybe a little bit worried of how Nesta’s and Azriel’s encounter would go.
He knew her and his brother were not close — he had never even seen they talking to one another — but Cassian worried that Azriel’s presence may bring forth uncomfortable memories of the rest of the IC to Nesta, neither having the best relationship, specially after that party at the Sidra in summer solstice.
Cassian could only hope and pray that the little progress he had seen Nesta go through in five months would not go down the drain.
“There are more females today” Azriel noted, taking Cassian out of his daydreaming.
“There are” he looked over the training ring, eyeing the small group of eleven Illyrian females.
It was the biggest number he’d ever had so far.
After the war with Hybern, the death of many Illyrians took its tool in the ranks. Although it was a reason for dissatisfaction to arise, it was surprising to see a number of females wanting to train. Many had lost fathers, brothers or lovers.
They had realised that nobody would protect them except themselves now, and slowly the number of females appearing had gotten bigger.
Some came and stayed only for a few self defence classes. Some were coming steadily for more than one session.
Cassian didn’t care if they wanted to be warriors or not. The fact that they were coming and wanted to learn was enough for him.
“Baby steps Cassian” he thought, hope blooming on his chest for the first time in a long while as Devlon dismissed the group, for once having taught them with more attention.
Cassian suspected Azriel’s presence was a weight on the camp lord’s mind, and an undesirable reminder to try this time.
“I’ve to stop somewhere first before we go back” Cassian said to the shadowsinger, who watched Devlon leave the training ring without a glance in their direction.
Azriel only shrugged, not minding the delay at dinner and indicating that he’d accompany Cassian.
Not long after, both Illyrians were entering a clothier, the bell in the door chiming and announcing their presence.
“Look who decided to pay a visit”
“Now, did the oh so ruthless Emerie miss me?” Cassian smirked, leaning against the polished counter where Emerie was.
“It was not me who was left for two months alone in a cabin” she retorted, her brown eyes twinkling with wicked delight seeing Cassian’s shocked expression.
“You know—”
“Yes I know Nesta, she was here not so long ago for tea” the female answered, as if Nesta going out and having tea with Illyrians was nothing out of the ordinary.
“How—”
“If she did not tell you of our encounter, I don’t think I should be the one to explain the particulars of our meeting” Emerie cut him again, raising an eyebrow in question.
Cassian was baffled.
“Since when had Nesta befriended Illyrans?” he thought to himself, having mixed feelings about it.
In one hand, he was happy she was putting herself out there, meeting people, living.
On the other hand, he felt a pang of jealousy and hurt go through his heart. Nesta had not told him any of that. Had not bothered to tell him of what she did on her spare time outside the morning and evenings trainings with him.
“But did you give her a reason to trust you?” Cassian thought with regret “Did you ask about her day? Did you tell her about yours?”
Trust was an one way road. And Cassian had lost the map which would direct him to it.
He also had to put himself out there. He had to open himself to Nesta if he wanted to mend their already tethered relationship.
Cassian had to stop being afraid of hurting his heart again when he had already hurt hers.
And he realised that not even another heartbreak would be enough to keep himself away from Nesta.
“But I take you did not come here to chat with me” Emerie said, eyeing Azriel, who was looking at her with curiosity.
“Not this time. But do invite me for tea” he grinned, trying to gather his lost swagger “The weather is about to change. I would like to purchase some clothes before autumn ends”
“The usual?” she asked, returning her sharp gaze to Cassian’s face.
“Today is light shopping,” he answered, dropping some coins on the counter.
Azriel shot him a puzzled look, but Emerie understood him just fine.
She gathered some clothes, and Cassian noticed that she also placed small sized ones too.
Emerie no doubt knew about Kaelin.
And she knew that Cassian would not let the kid go through autumn and then winter with hand me downs and fixed clothes, no matter how good of a seamstress Nesta was.
If Azriel noticed the clothes, he didn’t let it show.
Cassian also thought his brother was too busy inspecting Emerie to noticed anything else.
It had surprised him too the first time.
A female with a will strong enough to fight to be the sole owner of a shop in a place like Illyria.
Emerie had a fire that reminded him of Nesta. No wonder both females had somehow found their way to each other.
“Oh, please put this too” Cassian said, and quickly grabbed a leather strap he had spied on one of the shelves.
“Have you lost another one? I swear, you go through this things as if they’re water” Emerie ruffed, placing it with the rest of the order.
“It’s not for me.”
“Thinking of gifting it to Nesta?” Azriel said with a chuckle “Tell her to braid her hair with it?”
“As if Cassian was stupid enough to gift it to a Lady to tie her hair with” Emerie snapped, and Cassian laughed at the shocked expression on Azriel’s face “He knows her better than you think he does.”
“Charming as ever Emerie” Cassian said, gathering his purchase and bidding the female goodbye.
This time, Cassian didn’t fail to notice how his brother’ shadows were agitated.
And how they kept trying to go back to the clothier.
~•~
Cassian stopped breathing. Stopped living altogether as he looked at Nesta.
Nesta, who was sitting on the couch, reading.
He didn’t even have a mind to say how she did not light the fireplace, not as he saw what she wearing.
Because Nesta Archeron was not wearing one of her usual dresses.
She was wearing the clothes Cassian had left in her drawer all those months ago, when she had first arrived at Illyria. Clothes he not seen her ever wearing.
Until today.
Cassian had seen Nesta wearing pants. Hell, he saw her almost everyday now wearing the leathers, and his reaction at their first training was not so different as to when he had seen her at the war.
He had to constantly remind himself to breath and think with his upper head. To not make a fool out of himself.
But this time it was different.
Because Nesta was wearing leggings.
Mother’s tits, what had he been thinking when he left those leggings in her drawer?
Nesta wore dark leggings and a burgundy sweater, a little big on her due to her still too thin figure, something Cassian hoped to change.
And her hair. Cauldron, her hair was not on its usual coronet, but a loose braid, a few strands of her light hair falling over her eyes.
Cassian wanted to brush them behind her pointed ear.
Wanted to kiss and mark her slim neck. Feel her pulse under her soft skin.
Wanted to cover her body with his wings and scream at Azriel to leave.
But he did none of that. He willed his body and his temper to behave, and cleared his throat, making Nesta look up from her book.
Even though he was sure she had been monitoring their every breaths as soon as they arrived at the cabin.
“Hello Ness, did you have a pleasant day?” he tried, wanting to test her mood.
“I was having one until someone decided to disturb it” she answered, but Cassian noticed she did not put so much bite in her words as she did when she truly was annoyed “And don’t call me that”
“Well, I come bearing presents” doing a mocking bow and bracing himself for the worst, he looked at Azriel.
The shadowsinger’ Siphons gleamed, and a brown package appeared on the small table in front of Nesta.
“What is that”
A memory of a conversation during Winter Solstice, outside among the snow, resurfaced, and Cassian quickly shut it down.
“Tell you and ruin the surprise?” Cassian faked outrage, placing a hand on his heart “As if I could do that. You will want it.”
“I don’t want anything from you.”
Cassian resisted the urge to close his eyes and scream in pain. Those words, that memory, kept appearing against his better wishes.
He had been an asshole.
Had regretted his words the moment they had left his mouth.
He had wanted to get a reaction from Nesta. Do it the way it usually was between them.
Blown being met by blown.
Fire against fire.
He had been stupid to think it would work.
Had been even more stupid to not apologise afterwards.
But this Nesta was not the Nesta from his memories. Was not the Nesta from a year ago.
He could only hope her reaction would be different.
“Are those... are those books?” Nesta asked, trying to hide her surprise as she opened it, reading the titles.
“I thought you would have gotten bored of reading the same books over and over again” Cassian said, hoping he didn’t sound as nervous as he thought he was.
“And they must be more interesting than my military books” he added, indicating the long forgotten book Nesta had been reading when he arrived.
Nesta only looked at him and slightly dipped her chin in gratitude.
Cassian wanted to dance in happiness at that.
“Good to know that now you have a personal delivery boy to get whatever I want” Nesta said, directing her words at Azriel.
“As if I would do it for free” he snorted “Cassian promised to cook my favorite dish in payment. He’s the errand guy.”
“He does seem to like to be bossed around” she commented innocently, and that earned her a rare grin from Azriel.
“He also requested children’s books” the shadowsinger eyed her figure and raised an eyebrow “You two need a chaperone up here?”
Cassian tensed, not knowing what to expect from Nesta.
“Are you looking for a new job? Playing spy getting too boring?” Nesta replied, also raising a perfect eyebrow mockingly.
“Perhaps” was all the shadowsinger said, and Cassian took that as a cue to get between them.
“They’re for Kaelin, I thought they’d be easier books to read for now than the ones we have here”
Cassian had asked Azriel to get some old myths books for Kaelin, nothing too childlike but also not too difficult for him. He hadn’t wanted to offend the kid by giving him something too easy, having seen his progress with Nesta.
“And who is that anyway?” Azriel asked.
“He’s our new roommate” Cassian joked, not failing to notice how Nesta had flinched slightly when Azriel had asked about Kaelin.
“Kaelin is too young to live like he had been living” Nesta declared, stiffening her spine “I took him in. And he’s going to stay here”
Azriel said nothing, his shadows seeming to catch something in Nesta’s voice, and his eyes softened.
“I’m sure he’s nothing but nice if he’s keeping up with Cassian” he attempted “I’d like to meet him”
Just then, they heard the door opening.
“Ah, there he is!” Cassian exclaimed, a smile appearing.
That smile, however, weakened as Kaelin came into view, quieter than usual.
And Cassian thought he’d have to be the one to wear that leather strap in the end.
For Kaelin’s hair — once a wild mess of curls, who constantly feel on his eyes — had been sloppily cut, no curl at view.
In fact, he looked nothing like Kaelin at all.
There was a tension in him that had not been there before, the young Illyrian brown eyes’ seeming to look bigger on his face now that they were not hidden by his bangs anymore.
And the short cropped hairstyle that Kaelin now displayed also made the fresh bruises on his face even more alarming.

Ten Fingers, Ten Toes: JJ x Male Reader
Sent in anonymously: Reader and JJ are married and he works for the fire department. They have to work together for a case with an arsonist. While visiting the suspect's house, he smells gas and tells JJ to be careful. As they slowly approach the house the suspect has a gun to their head with the cooker on. JJ tries to calm the unsub down but it doesn't work so he points the gun at JJ and the reader tackles him from behind before pushing JJ out of the house before it blows up."
disclaimer: I have NEVER written anything x male reader before so please, please, please be gentle with me.
warnings: fire, explosions, injuries, violence, angst.
Words: 5,589
It was rare that you and JJ ever met up on duty. So rare, in fact, that it just hadn't happened. In your ten years of marriage, it hadn't occurred even once. Arson charges in Quantico weren't rare, there just weren't that many serial arsonist charges for the BAU to pick up, and even so, your fire station wasn't in the districts that it had occurred the three times JJ's team had been called. But, this time was different.
The BAU arrived in its usual fashion, two separate government-issued SUV's, black and shining, dark as the soot that no doubt remained on your face from this morning's bout of firefighting. It had been a tough one, ventilation becoming a bit risky when your team noticed the roof was easily collapsible, but Station 13 had gotten the job done, as they always did. Your hands paused in their movements of shifting debris when the doors on the SUV's began to open, one of them revealing a rather familiar blonde figure, their bright blue eyes scanning the scene rapidly.
You smiled, knowing what the agent was looking for.
Letting out a low whistle, you made your way to the woman who's shoulders instantly relaxed when she saw you, eyes lingering on the damage done to the place. You knew precisely what was going through her mind, simply because it often rang through yours.
You both worked dangerous jobs, one running into fires and the other chasing down psychopaths who had a penchant for murder. Worrying about your spouse practically came with the marriage license. It had been something discussed extensively on both ends before you had gotten down on one knee all that time ago, asking for her hand in marriage. But, despite the multitude of reasons not to and the fears of what would come forth in the face of it all, there was a singular reason that made you both forget the rest; "I love you", You had said when she had asked, a shrug that told her how simple of an answer it was, but the look in your eye telling her that your love for her wasn't simple at all. Not really. It was convoluted and complex and deep and consuming and that was enough for her. That was more than enough for her.
So, each day when you went off to fight your fires and she went off to fight the monsters, you both reminded each other of that, of that love, that feeling of taking a leap, praying for a happy ending in which you both came home alive each night just to do it all again in the morning.
Except, now, here she was, and here you were, both of your battles being condensed into one.
"The calvary's arrived." You praised with a smirk.
Her blue orbs, intensified by the dreariness of the burnt surroundings, glanced over your body.
God, those eyes. Those eyes that you had fallen in love with, fallen so extremely and irrevocably hard for. Two glistening, gleaming, and just about every other synonym for glistening and gleaming under the sun, orbs that were like two little tiny pools of water. Water, a bit ironic given your occupation of fighting fires, but water all the same. Except, it wasn't exactly water, because you didn't think of water when you saw them you just thought of JJ, and that feeling you got around JJ. That fuzzy feeling in your chest, that dizzy feeling in your head and that tingly feeling in your legs that made you feel like you couldn't walk. The eyes that elicited those feelings were on you, checking for damage, scanning for injuries.
The turnout gear still laid heavy on your figure, but you stood tall beneath the weight of it all, accustomed to the sheer mass that it added. It was covered in ash, and stitched in tightly woven thread on your coat's breath pocket was your name. "Captain Y/N L/N", it read.
JJ remembered how you had received that promotion last year, the ceremony that Henry and Michael had tottered along to, how you had hoisted Henry up on your shoulder, Michael on your hip, insisting that your wife come by your side for a picture, one she cherished dearly. It sat in her wallet now and the weight of it in her jacket pocket felt heavier now for some reason.
When her eyes came back to your face, she frowned, her fingers coming up to rub your cheek. "You look like hell."
Worry. That was the look on her face, scanning the remnants of the house that had recently been ablaze but was now just smoldering ash. Your team packing things up as JJ's got to work, picking their way through the remains, asking Station 13 questions so to jump start their investigation.
"Thank you, darling, I just got back." You quipped cockily and she rolled her eyes, a twitch of her lips to indicate that she wasn't all too irritated with you, really. Just for show.
Her hand dropped, landing in her crossed arms as she faced the house, eyes narrowing as she entered her work mode, something you found rather amusing. You had rarely seen JJ in her work mode, and she you. You both liked to keep those versions of you separate, tucked away in the attic space of your minds, dirty blemishes to be hidden when around each other not because you were hiding secrets but because your demons, both of your demons were just something you needed to fight alone. The ghosts that followed JJ home after cases, whispering in her ear, nipping at her heels and the flames that engulfed you after calls, burning your eyes, searing your skull.
"So, what happened?"
You nodded, settling into work mode yourself. "We got the call around 5:30 am, house fire, one alarm. Family was asleep in the house, barely had time to notice anything was wrong before it was up in flames-"
"Carson family." She breathed, eyes flickering to you sympathetically. "Are they-"
"Alive and stable." And for a moment your chest swelled with pride. It hadn't seemed a possibility that morning, for the entire family to walk away as fortunately as they had. Sure, their entire house was gone, vanquished in nothing short of forty-five minutes, but their lives, each and every one of them, had been saved and it had everything to do with your team. A flash of that morning, the little girl in your arms, the mask around her face- your mask that you had taken off and given to her, just to give her lungs a few moments of relief- and her fingers clutching your turnout coat as you carried her out of the burning building. Those were the moments you lived for, the moments that made you proud for the occupation choice. "The parents got the worst of it, third degree burns, smoke inhalation damage, but nothing that the hospital can't fix. The kids are fine, I heard their grandparents are staying with them at the hospital until their parents are given the all clear."
She nodded, a bounce of her blonde hair. "That's good."
"It is," You nodded, motioning for her to follows you as you began your walk to the west wing of the house. "We thought it might've been a freak accident, faulty wiring or maybe a gas leak from the stove, but one of my guys found this." The two of you stopped, her shoulder lightly grazing yours.
Her eyes followed the gesture your hands made, landing on an object on the floor. There, covered in soft and ash, discarded on the floor of what used to be a beautiful two story home, was a bottle, its liquid remains only droplets now, the cloth poking out of it burned to shreds.
"Make-shift Molotov cocktail? You're sure?" She bent down, pulling on a latex glove and picking it up cautiously, turning it around in her hands before signaling one of her guys to come a grab it.
You had met the team, of course, you knew them quite well actually. Derek nodded at you, the two of you sharing a brotherly pat on each other's back before he was grabbing the evidence, scooping it into a plastic bag.
"Yep. When I saw it I called you, figured it might be the beginning of a string of fires."
The blonde sighed. "Smart call." There was something else in her voice, concern, stress, everything in between, and your own eyes narrowed, something that made her chest flair with warmth.
She never had to say anything. She didn't have to say that getting your call at seven in the morning, a time she usually spent feeding the boys before turning them over to the nanny who would inevitably be relieved at the end of your twenty-four hour shifts but was interrupted by that incessant ringing.
You had changed it from the default ring almost two years ago.
"What are you doing?" The blonde had laughed, reaching for the phone you had swiped out of her hands but you held it above you head, your figure towering over hers and her laughter had made the chuckle rumble in your throat just the way she liked it.
"I've gotta change it, so you know it's me."
You had fixed her with that stare, the one she knew you gave your team, the "I'm the Fire Captain and you have to listen to me" stare, though you knew it had never worked on her. To her, she said, it looked like you were constipated, but it always made her roll her eyes with that shit-eating smile, so you did it anyways.
"Yes, because in a world with Caller I.D., I will never know it's my husband." Tired of standing on her tippy-toes, she had slumped against your chest defeatedly, taking in your warmth, listening to your heartbeat as she listened to you choose that god forsaken song that she knew that you knew she hated- one that you two had fought over its validity as a song on one of your first dates when it came on in a sandwich shop.
"I'm Henery the Eighth I Am..." Played from the woman's speakers and she groaned, hitting her forehead against your chest in a playful headset that had made you roar with laughter.
"Perfect."
It had been that terrible, dreadful song, the song that would always remind her of you that interrupted her morning and made her heart stop because you never called her on shift unless something was wrong. Unless the fire had nipped at you a little too roughly, unless you were sitting in a hospital bed getting patched up. She had answered that call with a dry throat and almost forgot how to breathe until your voice telling her you were okay reached her ears. "I'm okay, but I think you should see this."
And now, at a time she should be focusing on her job, focusing on telling Aaron Hotchner what her husband just told her, focusing on the family that had luckily made it out unscathed, she wasn't. She was focusing the man before her, her man, her Y/N.
She was focusing on you because for once she was seeing your world, your world past the nice and cozy firestation that she had seen before, polished and clean. That fire station you had showed her on one of your days off, giving her a tour, silently telling her that you were okay, that you were always going to be okay. Now, she was seeing your team, people she had met before but now under your authority, placing all the gear they had used meticulously back into the rigs, and you, covered in soot with that look in your eyes. That look that made her hate you and fall back in love with you every time. The look of a hero. Because heroes are the ones who run into the burning buildings not away and the thought of you running into a burning building, somewhere you would go and not come back and leave her and Michael and Henry in the lurch made her sick to her stomach.
And you saw that.
"Hey," You said softly, noticing that far off look in her eyes. "Hey," You repeated once you noticed she hadn't responded the first time, lightly grabbing her shoulder. "I'm fine. We're all fine. Look," Your eyes were boring into hers, those baby blues that your sons had inherited because, god, they were spitting images of her and it was something you reveled in. Your fingers wiggled out of the gloves, ripping the other off and wiggling your newly exposed fingers to the woman. "Ten fingers, ten toes. I'm good."
It was silly, something you two had always recited, a mantra of sorts, when one of you injured themselves. A tiny little saying, one that said "I'm still alive, I'm still kicking, and you're not getting rid of me that easily", without saying it at all.  Picking her up from the airport after she called to tell you of her injuries, her small smile at the concern that would always be evident on your face no matter how many times she assured you. And she would take your face in her hands, make you look her in the eyes.
'Ten fingers, ten toes.' She would say with a playful smirk, wiggling them against your cheeks and you would smile, resting your forehead against her and now she did the same. A sigh on defeat or relaxation or maybe just a release of a breath she didn't know she had been holding.
She looked at you, eyes narrowing playfully once more. "You're cheating, I can't see your toes in those boots."
You laughed, that hearty rumble she adored and the two of you set to work.
Everything would be fine.
-
Everything was not fine.
"Are you mad at me?"
Frozen grass crunched beneath your feet. It was a cold day, winter still biting at Spring's heels and the brisk air was enough to make you wish you had more cover than the leather jacket slung over your shoulders. And if you were cold you knew JJ was (The girl was raised in a warm climate and basically declared it was winter anytime it hit below seventy degrees.). A quick glance to the blonde- who was apparently very cross with you at the moment- met you with a rather terse look, her lips pursed, eyes forward as she surveyed the side of there house, gun raised before her.
The last day and a half had been spent working hand in hand with the FBI.
It was almost like a game. The BAU spent their time assessing the victims, analyzing patterns, attempting to predict where the arsonist might hit next, though it was a game of cat and mouse because they hadn't perfected it, not yet. And your Station was getting called, putting out every fire just to jump to the next and when the team had finally determined a suspect, JJ was declared to be on the group to survey their house, it hadn't even taken you a moment to suggest your team join as well.
'Fire safety,' you had told Hotchner, 'Wouldn't it be safer to have us by your side in case he gets set off?' and much to JJ's chagrin, he had agreed. The fire rig itself was set up two blocks away, lights and sirens off, just waiting to be called upon, your team inside of it.
That was one of the perks of being Captain, you supposed. Calling the shots, getting to pick and choose when you ran into the fire, delegating your skills to the most high-priority situations and, yes, while you told your Station that the high-priority you were attending to was a possible additional fire as you approached the arsonist's house, they all knew the real reason. They knew it was the blonde by your side, no matter how angry she was with you.
"Okay, so you are mad at me." You nodded at confirmation of your previous question, one that had gone unanswered, and were met by a sharp glare before her eyes were back on the house.
The neighborhood itself was rundown, an area of town about to be lost to construction, properties being seized by the government, one of the arsonist's assumed triggers. His house was one of the only ones left on his block, sagging defeatedly on the corner of the street.
The other pair, Spencer and Derek, from the BAU crawled amongst the property, paired off and speaking into their walkies, both of them attempting to see inside of the house, cautious of how to approach.
"I'm not mad, I'm focusing."
You snorted. "Well that's funny, 'cause your focusing face and your mad face have a hell of a lot in common."
It wasn't a moment longer before she was huffing, pausing in her movements before tossing a glance to you over her shoulder. "Stop messing around, Y/N-"
"JJ-"
Her state was almost as cold as the weather. "No, this is serious. There's a killer in there and you're out here joking around-"
"JJ-"
And her gun was lowering itself for just a fraction of a second, eyes fixing you with that stern gaze of hers that she normally used with the children but still managed to make you feel just as intimidated as they probably did when it was used on them.
"You volunteered to come with us to catch a serial killer-"
"I know-" You tried, but you knew that look in her eye, that rise of an octave. The tone that let you know that she wasn't mad, she wasn't angry, she wasn't even furious, she was terrified.
And damn, you hated that. You hated that she was terrified, because you were terrified too. You had been ever since Hotchner had told her, Spencer and Derek to check out the possible unsub's house. Ever since those words had left his lips it was as if your mind had gone blank, something JJ would claim it perpetually was, but it wasn't. Usually, your mind raced about a million miles per hour, never slowing, never seizing, except for that moment, that moment that had made your stomach drop and throat clog. That moment that had you volunteering to go with her without hesitance because you were scared, scared because this was what she did on a daily basis and yes, while you thought about it, talked about it, and apparently had gotten over it long ago, you hadn't really because this wasn't just something you got over.
Having your wife chase serial killers wasn't something you could just be okay with and if you were given an opportunity to go with her, to watch over her, to look out for her, god damnit you would.
"You chose to put yourself in danger. It's different when it's your job, but, god damn it, Y/N, you don't have to be here-"
And whatever she was going to say next was interrupted, the porch light flickering on, that dim yellow bulb cackling under the sheet of ice it was buried in. The back porch became illuminated, revealing a broken rocker chair, it's left arm chair giving way due to mold or rot, caved into the smooth seat of the chair. It sat limply on the porch, those floorboards creaking in the winter wind and the two of you froze, her gun rising.
"Stay here."
Under different circumstances you might have laughed.
Under different circumstances, you might have thrown your head back and let loose that deep, throaty laugh that JJ always said was contagious.
But you didn't. You couldn't.
You couldn't help the dumbfounded expression covering your face, watching as your wife, your best friend, the mother of your children, began to climb the stairs of a serial arsonist, demanding for you to stay put. You couldn't help that swell in your chest, a swell of anger, no doubt, not at her, because you had known precisely what kind of person she was when you married her. You had known the minute you had met her in that crowded, smelly bar, the both of you both coming back from a long day at work, her tired eyes meeting yours and that wicked smile pulling you in.
You had known from just that first look that she would be hard work. And she had proven that every step of the way. She had proved that by demanding a background check before you two officially went on your first date (that first night in the bar didn't count, she said matter-of-factly.), or by all of her weird quirks and tics. Like, for instance, if you got her skittles she would patiently wait while you picked out all the green ones (They taste like toilet bowl cleaner and the longer they're in there with the other ones the more the taste will rub off on the good ones). Or that how if she vacuumed she absolutely had to have precise vacuum lines (if they weren't perfect, she started over, no matter what.). Or even how she set seven alarms in the morning, snoozing each and every one because she knew eventually you'd get too agitated by the constant interruptions to your sleep that you'd wake her up with your groans and force her out of bed far better than any alarm ever could.
You had known that she would be hard work, yes, but you also knew that she would be worth it. Every smile, every kiss, every laugh, all of it. And so when she told you to stay put you could hardly reign in your outrage enough to keep your voice to a hushed whisper.
"No, I'm coming with you." And your foot began to raise, began to make its way onto that creaky, rotted, in need of a paint job floorboard of a porch before JJ was stopping you.
"No. You might be a Captain, but out here, I call the shots. Stay here and don't do anything stupid." And she was slipping into the back door before you could grab her. Before you could pull her into your arms and stop her.
And you were alone, alone with only the porch light flickering every so often, threatening to give way, that snow underneath your boots clinging to the soles of your shoes the longer you stood there.
How long had you been standing there, staring at the back porch door? You wracked your brain, trying to remember if JJ had said anything to Reid and Morgan about going into the house? Had she called for backup? You wished you had a communication piece on you, wished you had some way to make sure that JJ wasn't in there alone because, yes while you trusted her wholeheartedly, you didn't trust a batshit crazy arsonist who had started a string of fires.
Your nose twitched, snapping you out of your thoughts.
What was that smell? That smell, sharp to the nose, stinging your eyes, making the back of your neck hairs stand erect-
Your feet were moving, moving carefully and efficiently, trying not to make a noise but trying to get into the house as quickly as possible.
Gasoline.
That was what you could smell. You had smelled it a million times before, and this smell was no different, except it was. It was different. This time was a million times worse than any other time you had smelled it because JJ was inside the house. She was inside the house that reeked of gasoline, inside a potential explosion, and you needed to get in there as quickly as possible and so your hand was pulling not he back door and you were lurching inside the house.
"Trevor, I just want to talk, okay? Put the gone down-"
The back door let into the dining room, the inside of the house looking just as dilapidated as the outside of the home. Family pictures were strewn about the walls, each hanging just as crooked as the next. The glass was covered in dust, so much so that the pictures weren't even recognizable underneath, and the roof tilted at a downward angle so threateningly low you worried it might just collapse with the mere addition of your body inside it.
You could hear voices beyond the wall of the dining room, JJ's first, and it made your heart beat a little less frantically (though that wasn't;t saying much because right now you were pretty sure your heart was doing a line dance), and then the unsub's- Trevor.
Your hair brushed the wall as you peeked past it, clinging to that wall like it was a lifeline and in that moment it was. In that moment, it was the only thing separating you and the man pointing a gun at your wife.
When you saw the scene your throat struggled to contain the bile rising at the sight of it. Trevor stood nearest to you, his back to you completely, in fact. A dirtied t-shirt, one covered in scorch marks and ash hung loosely on his figure. He was small, smaller than you had imagined an arsonist to look like, which, you supposed arsonists don't particularly have a look, but still, he didn't look...evil and you had always supposed that bad guys looked evil. But this one didn't. No, other than his dirtied shirt he looked like a normal guy, except, of course, for the gun pointing at his temple.
There was a clicking sound filling the air, that familiar clicking sound that made you divert your attention to the stove, confirming your suspicions immediately. The gas was on, leaking it into the house and your head was already beginning to ache at just the smell.
And then there was JJ.
She noticed you immediately and she made a damn good job of covering that. Briefly, her eyes met yours, and you didn’t need words for you to understand. There was rage at you for following her, guilt because somehow she thought this was her fault, gratefulness because maybe she wouldn't have to leave here in a body bag and fear because what if your children grew up without both of their parents?
"Trevor, listen to me-"
Her voice was steady. How was her voice so steady?
"No! I'm done talking to you bitch!"
And just like before, just like when Hotchner was ordering JJ to go to the unsub's house, time slowed. Time slowed, and it became a long, torturous, eternal moment that made your mind wipe straight clean once more because there was really only one thing that could make it do that and she was standing right in front of you. The girl that had seen you from across that crowded bar, a bar that she later said was disgusting and dirty and made her boots stick to the floor, but would always pull you to because it was sentimental and they made good burgers. The girl who had answered your marriage proposal with "What took you so long?", which, would've been acceptable had your proposal not been asked three months to the day when you met her (Hey, when you knew, you knew.). The girl who talked through movies, beat you in poker, ate all your fries when she said she wasn't hungry and just a million other things that you hadn't even known you remembered until that moment when suddenly her very being was being threatened.
That girl was having a gun pointed toward her, and so you reacted.
Your body tackled the man before you easily, causing you both tp fall tp the ground in a jumble of limbs and grunts and the gun wasn't leaving his hand so easily but none of that mattered because you saw your chance.
You saw your chance for one more tackle and damn JJ was going to be extremely pissed at you, but it didn't matter because you were doing it before she could even register your movements to protest it. Your body slammed into hers, twisting your body in mid-air, preparing it for the impact it would surely take through the boarded up windows that were about to become a bit more open than before.
The wood splintered across your back, your head throbbed at the hit, but you barreled through just as you heard Trevor yell and, stupidly, predictably, unfortunately, he shot and as soon as he did, the heat from the bullet related to the gasoline in the air.
Your bodies hit the snow in record time, yours on top of hers, and the sheer heat from the blast was enough to make you never want to hear the words "Liar, liar pants on fire", again.
Breathing. Breathing and sirens and ringing, a horrible ringing in your ears that was quickly subsiding and a pulsing through your head that was not. You peeled yourself off of her with a grunt, your back landing roughly next to hers, the snow quickly clinging to the back of your jacket.
The two of you stayed that way for a moment, just a moment, because you both knew Derek and Spencer were just around the corner and if they found you two lying on the floor their first reaction would be to think you were both dead (partially because of your position on the floor and partially because of the fact that your left eyebrow was singed off and you were pretty sure your head was leaking out some blood onto the blanket of snow beneath you). In that moment, that tiny brief moment, your hand grasped hers, squeezing it, before sitting up with another groan.
She looked...like crap. Her hair was wet and frizzy, nose red to the bone, cheeks covered in dirt of ash, wood littered across her bulletproof vest, and her pony tail had loosened to the extent that half of it was just pouring onto the side other face. But she still looked beautiful to you.
“You did something stupid.” She said exasperatedly, reminding you of the last thing she told you not to do before leaving you alone but it hardly registered to you.
"I had to." You said quietly, so quietly that your ringing ears even had trouble hearing it but the squint of her eyes let you know she heard you just fine. "Earlier, you said I didn't have to be here."
You were not a quiet man. You just weren't. You were loud and brave and funny and JJ had always adored that about you but she loved these moments too. These moments where you were quiet, reserved, and afraid, because it showed her that you weren't just some pompous meathead charging into fires irresponsibly. It showed her that even the bravest of the brave get scared, and that fear was what would stop you from making a decision that would leave her in a world without you.
Her eyes softened. "You know what I meant-"
Your bottom lip quivered, hands going up to attach themselves to her cheek, just to feel her, to know she was real, that she was there, that she was alive. "I cannot lose you. I know that you do this everyday, and I know that you are good at your job, and I know that you probably had it handled back there, but damnit JJ, I was scared, okay? I'm sorry, but I was scared and I needed to be here, I felt it in my bones, okay? I just-"
All of the emotions from that night. All of the anger, the fear, the adrenaline, all of it left you, left you in the sob that had formed in the base of your throat, leaving you feeling hollow and empty as the world passed around the two of you. You could barely register your team rushing into the building, the hose spraying into the house, JJ's team approaching the two of you, because it was just you and her. You and her, and that was all that mattered to you.
Her hands clung to yours, piling atop her cheek and embracing the warmth it gave her, leaning in to let her forehead touch yours, your salty tears falling into her cheeks but she didn't say a word about it.
"I can't lose you." You repeated it again and it sounded so small, so lost that JJ was locking her eyes with yours.
"You didn't." A pregnant pause, a lick of her lips, a small beginning to a smile that looked so wrong given the state of her surroundings, and a tiny breath let out. "Ten fingers, ten toes."
Her thumb was reaching for your cheek, swiping the pad of it across it, clearing away the remnants of the tear that was trailing down the side of your face and then following it with a kiss, a small peck at where the tear once stood.
"Ten fingers, ten toes." You exhaled.

Hope you enjoyed:)

Getting Better
Author: GA!Babe
Fandom: Banana Fish
Summary: *MAJOR SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 24 BANANA FISH* IMMA FIX THIS BULL SHIT ENDING REAL QUICK HOLD MY BEER. aka these boys are getting to Japan safely, thanks. no sad times in the library allowed.
When Eiji had first heard what had happened back in New York, he had been walking out of the airport in Japan. He had just taken his phone off of airplane mode and decided to check his messages.
As soon as he had read what had happened, he felt his blood run cold. No wonder Ash hadn't made it to the airport in New York... it wasn't because he was bad at good-byes or that he was relieved that Eiji was finally leaving... it was because he had been attacked. It seemed like the world around Eiji was spinning and he was caught in the middle of it, unable to move freely in this stupid wheelchair. Once Ibe had read what had happened too, he took Eiji straight to the nearest counter in order to get him back over to America. It had taken what had seemed like hours to convince the airline that he really did in fact want to go back the way he came.
All of the yelling and talking and negotiating seemed so far away in Eiji's mind as he just imagined Ash, alone somewhere and thinking that Eiji was just on the other side of the world, without him. Just that thought was enough for tears to prick the corners of his eyes. He realized that he didn't want to say sayonara. He didn't want to say good-bye to Ash Lynx, the most feared gang leader in New York. Not after everything they had been through together. It couldn't end like this.
As quickly as they could manage, Eiji and Ibe were back on the next plane to New York City, heading straight towards the poor snow leopard who had almost given up half way up the mountain. Eiji just prayed that he could just hold on for just a little bit longer.
Sure, maybe it was selfish for him to want Ash to stay, but Ash deserved to be happy. No, not just that, he deserved to forget the terrors of his past and move on in a place where he didn't have to fear for his life. If -- when -- Ash healed, Eiji was taking him straight to Japan. He didn't care if he had to drag him there, but Ash would be out of New York if he had anything to say about it.
*~*~
At the hospital, Eiji sat comfortably in his wheelchair in the waiting room of the hospital Ash had been taken to. Apparently, he had been discovered in the library with his head resting on Eiji's farewell letter. A librarian had at first dismissed him as just another napping student, probably too tired from exams to get up, but then she noticed the blood.
Eiji did his best not to blame her. What would he had done if he had seen something like that? Well, what would he had done before he had met Ash? She couldn't have known. Even if he was angry, that had to be directed towards whoever decided to hurt Ash... again.
Eiji balled up his fists in the blanket across his lap, wishing he could just will Ash better.
A nurse walked in from the ICU. They made eye contact. She smiled.
And Eiji knew everything was going to be okay.
~*~*
Only family was allowed to see Ash while he was in the hospital, so naturally, the gang waited until Ash had healed up after a week or so before breaking him out of the hospital.
Naturally.
Eiji had planned pretty much every step of the operation as the New York City police were still kind of under the impression that Ash Lynx was dead and Eiji planned to keep it that way. One less enemy to keep an eye out for.
Finally, Ash limped into a secluded apartment they had set aside in neutral territory. There was a moment where time stood still. Their eyes met, both Ash and Eiji, both still broken and healed from their ordeal together and now having made it to the other side. Together. Eiji's eyes filled with tears and his crutches clattered to the ground on either side of him. Ash inhaled sharply as Eiji's arms wrapped around him tightly. It hurt, yes, but it was something that he couldn't help but love.
He had made it to the top of the mountain. For a while, he didn't think he would get a happy ending, but here it was. His happy ending was right here. Shakily, Ash wrapped his arms around Eiji and they both sunk to the floor, too emotional for words. Eiji balled his fists in Ash's hospital gown and inhaled deeply. Sure, it mostly smelled of the sickly sweet scent of medicine and cleaning supplies, but it was also undoubtably Ash. His Ash.
"I'm okay," Ash breathed into Eiji's hair, pulling him closer. Eiji choked out a short laugh.
"What are you comforting me for?" Eiji asked, looking up at Ash through his tears. Ash just smiled softly and wiped away Eiji's tears with the pads of his thumbs.
"I love you," Ash said before he could stop himself. Then he realized what he had said and his cheeks flushed pink. That was definitely unexpected, especially from him. Maybe it was the pain medicine.
Eiji pressed a soft kiss to Ash's lips. At first, the blonde froze up, expecting a wave of panic to settle over him like it had every time someone had kissed him, but not this time. This time, there was no danger, no need to move information, no need to shut down. He was safe. With that, Ash melted into the kiss, cupping Eiji's face in his hands.
Was this what kissing was supposed to feel like? Is this what love was supposed to feel like? This was intoxicating, sweet, and everything that he had never dared of it being.
"Am I hurting you, Ash?" Eiji breathed against Ash's lips, pulling away for a moment. It took Ash a second to realize that it was because he was crying. He hadn't even realized.
"No," Ash responded, surprised at how raspy his voice had become. Eiji smiled and gave him a small peck on his lips before slowly, and painfully, getting back on his feet.
"I would help you up, Ash, but I do not think that would be best for either of us." Eiji said, leaning heavily against the arm of a nearby couch as he handed Ash one of his crutches. Ash slowly pulled himself up and they both limped over to the bedroom.
"What now?" Ash asked, sitting on the edge of the bed. He wasn't sure if he meant for them or... what they were supposed to do now that everything was over.
"We sleep and then get on a plane tomorrow at six." Eiji sighed, laying down on his back and wincing as his stitches pulled uncomfortably against his skin. Ash laid next to him, curling up on his side with his forehead resting against Eiji's shoulder.
"Where are we going?" He asked even though he already knew the answer.
"Japan. You'll be safe there." Eiji sighed, shifting to his side so he could face Ash. He ran his hands through Ash's slightly greasy blonde hair, twirling the locks in between his fingers. Ash hummed softly, letting himself enjoy the soft touch as he slowly drifted off to sleep. Eiji brushed Ash's bangs behind his ear to see Ash's sweet face better. A small sleepy snicker left Ash's lips.
"Stop, that tickles." Ash mumbled sleepily. Eiji smiled and pressed a soft kiss to Ash's forehead.
"Go to sleep, my ticklish little Ash. You'll be safe in the morning," Eiji whispered and for the first night since... well, he couldn't remember, Ash slept through the night without a single nightmare.
The fucking end they both lived happily ever after in Japan goddamnit.

Curing a Curse?
Here it is, the third part in my ongoing Nixie Scenario that has honestly turned into its own separate AU at this point.  And in keeping in line with the cliffhanger that the first part ended on, this one ends on one as well.  Anyways, enjoy.
(By the way, here’s the first part, and here’s the second part.)
——————————————————————————————
“I’d like to see the actual process of your transformation,” Ford said.  Angie groaned loudly, kneading her forehead.  After spending two days hiding in the lake, she had shown up at the house out of the blue to answer questions from the nerds.  Only five questions in, Stan could tell she was regretting leaving the lake.
Can’t blame her. Ford’s gone full scientist mode and Fiddlenerd’s even more overprotective than when he found out I was seeing Angie.
“Look,” Angie sighed, “I learned the hard way not to be in frog form with clothes on.  The slime ain’t easy to clean off.”
              “Slime?” Fiddleford squeaked.
“Have you ever held a frog in your life?” Stan asked. “They’re slimy.”  Fiddlenerd frowned at him, but before he could scold Stan for being a smartass, Angie spoke again.
“I transform while nude to avoid destroyin’ my clothes.  Bein’ unclothed in front of folks while I’m in frog form ain’t a problem, but I won’t let ya see me naked and human, Stanford.”
“It’s purely for scientific-” Ford tried. Angie glared at him.
              “No.”
“Fine,” Ford muttered.  Angie got up from her chair.
“I’ll go transform ‘n come back.”  She left the living room.
“This is thrilling,” Ford said excitedly. “Finally, a chance to see a nixie up close!  Granted, she’s not a full-blooded nixie, but morphologically, there should be few differences.  Well, other than the fact that she can switch between nixie and human forms.”
“What do you mean by ‘full-blooded nixie’?” Stan asked.
“Angie was born human, only turned into a nixie upon exposure to nixie venom, and can switch between two different forms.  A full-blooded nixie would have been born one and stuck in that form.”  He paused. “I wonder if certain people are more likely to become a nixie when exposed to nixie venom.”  Ford looked at Fiddlenerd.  “Fiddleford, do you know if there are any fae in your family tree?”
“I don’t know of any, but I wouldn’t be surprised,” Fiddlenerd said after a moment.  “We were told ‘bout the fair folk from a pretty young age.  And in Ireland, where my Pa’s fam’ly came from, the fair folk do tend to interact with mortals.”
“Interesting,” Ford said quietly.  He rubbed his chin thoughtfully.  “If fae blood runs in your veins, that could explain why Angie transformed into a nixie with a kiss, but Stan didn’t.”
“I think the more likely reason is that, like ya said, she ain’t a full-blooded nixie,” Fiddlenerd said.  “Maybe she has less potent venom or even less venom overall.”
“Good point.  Once I’ve collected some venom to study, I can determine whether that is the case,” Ford said.  Slapping footsteps, like someone wearing flipflops too large for their feet, sounded. Angie came back into living room, in her full nixie form.
“What’s this about venom?” she asked.  Like it always did when she was in nixie form, her voice had changed, becoming cooler and more melodic, as well as losing her thick southern accent.
“I’m going to collect some from you.  If you don’t mind,” Ford said, getting up from his chair.  Angie shrugged.
“Sure.  That would be the easiest way to come up with an antivenin for the next time I kiss Stan.”
“Yes, but I feel that finding a cure for your situation will go much faster if I can study your venom,” Ford said.  An uncomfortable look settled on Angie’s face.
              “Uh.  Sure.”
“I’ll go get a jar to collect your venom in,” Ford said eagerly.  He rushed out of the room.  Fiddlenerd got up and walked over to Angie, looking her up and down.
“This is the first time I’m properly seein’ ya like this,” he said idly.  He smiled. “Hopefully, it ain’t the first of many. I suspect that Stanford will be able to cure ya pretty easily.”  Angie’s uncomfortable look worsened.  She looked down at her elongated, webbed feet.
              “Yeah,” she mumbled.
“I’m surprised by how tall ya are,” Fiddlenerd continued, apparently not noticing Angie’s discomfort.  Angie grinned, quickly wiping away her tense body language.
“It’s the frog legs,” she said.  Fiddlenerd chuckled.  Ford ran into the room, carrying a glass jar.  He handed it to Angie.  Angie looked at him, confused.  “Do you want me to spit in this or something?”
“Yes.  Technically, you should secrete your venom from your skin as well as your salivary glands, but that only happens when you’re under stress.  So a saliva specimen would be best.”
“Do you really think I’m not stressed right now?” Angie mumbled.  Ford’s eyes widened.
“Do you think you might be secreting venom from your skin at the moment?” he asked.  Angie held the jar next to her shoulder.  Ooze slowly seeped into the jar.  Ford’s eyes widened even further.  “Remarkable.  Would you mind spitting into this one, so that I can compare the two samples?” Ford held out another jar.  Angie rolled her eyes, but spat into it.  “Thank you.”
“Yeah.”  Angie handed him the jar with her skin venom in it.  “By the way, I had an idea.  Now that you all know my secret, I was hoping that I could move again.”
“What do ya mean?” Fiddlenerd asked.
“I don’t really like living in a human house. I mean, I have to keep leaving it to go to the lake.  So, I want to live in the lake full time.”
“Wh- Angie-” Fiddlenerd started.  Angie held up one of her large, webbed hands.
“Let me finish.  I’d like to live there, but keep my human stuff here, since I’ve got a lot of things that I want to hold onto.”
“I’m fine with that,” Stan said, shrugging. Fiddlenerd nodded.  “Ford, it’s your place.”
“Hmm?”  Ford looked up from the jar of ooze, which he had been staring at intently.  “Oh, yes, feel free to store your belongings here until you are cured.”  Angie abruptly became uncomfortable again, shifting her feet anxiously, her eyes darting around.
“Sounds- sounds good,” she mumbled.  She cleared her throat.  “Stanford, did you want to sketch me?”
“Oh, yes, that would be excellent!” Ford enthused. He handed the jar of slime and jar of spit to Stan.  “Come outside, please, the lighting will be better.”  Angie followed Ford out of the house to the backyard.  Stan set down the jars.  He looked at Fiddlenerd.
“Angie seemed a bit nervous,” he commented. Fiddlenerd shrugged.
“Given Stanford is lookin’ at her the same way he looks at them gnomes, I don’t blame her.”  He got up from his seat.  “Now, if ya don’t mind, I’ve got an idea fer a way Angie can stay here instead of in a dirty lake.  I’m goin’ to work on some blueprints.”  He left.
Maybe he’s right.  Maybe Angie just seemed upset ‘cause Ford was looking at her like that.  Stan sighed. Who knew falling for a frog-lady would cause so many problems?
-----
Stan sped all the way to the lake, praying that he had properly secured the babies in the back seat.
Maybe Fiddlenerd was right.  Maybe Angie should start staying at the house and sleep in that tank he made for her.  Having her close when the lab exploded woulda been nice.  The Stanleymobile peeled into the lake parking lot.  Stan parked it right next to the water.  Thankfully, the unseasonably cold day had scared people away; the lake was deserted.  Stan slammed the car door open.
“Angie!” he shouted before even taking a step out of the car.  There was a splash.  In nixie form, Angie’s head popped up by the pier.
              “Stan?” she called.
“Get your gorgeous ass over here!”  Angie blinked in surprise, then disappeared back underwater.  After a few moments, she resurfaced in shallower water and walked ashore.
“Next time, a ‘please’ would be nice,” she scolded, coming over to the Stanleymobile.  “Now, what’s…”  Her gaze landed on the babies in the back seat of the Stanleymobile.  “Oh, Lord.”  She kneaded her forehead with her webbed hands.  “Stanley.  Please tell me that you didn’t steal these children.”
“No.  They’re our brothers,” Stan said.  Angie stared at him.
              “Pardon?”
“There was some sort of explosion in the lab.  I went to check it out just in case it was some spookum again.”  Stan gestured hopelessly at the babies.  “I found them like this.”
“How did this happen?” Angie whispered.
“Hell if I know.  I tried to look at their notes, but I don’t speak science.  I also know jack shit about taking care of babies.”
              “Luckily, I know plenty.”
“Wanna grab your clothes and we can head to the house?” Stan suggested.  Angie sighed.
“Just give me your shirt for now.  My clothes can wait.”
“Got it.”  Stan pulled his T-shirt over his head, obscuring his vision.  By the time he could see again, Angie was fully human and nude.  He handed the shirt over.  Angie slipped it on.  “Good thing you’re so tiny.  You look like you’re wearing a dress.”
“Shut up,” Angie muttered.  She got into the back seat with the babies.  “Aw.  They’re cute.”  As if on cue, one of the babies started to cry.  Angie grimaced.  “Never mind.”
-----
“Shh, shh, Little Sixer,” Stan whispered desperately, gently rocking the infant Ford.  After getting to the house, Angie had taken charge immediately, instructing Stan how to take care of the babies.  Only once they were both sleeping in makeshift cribs in the living room did she finally go into the lab to figure out what the nerds were doing. Unfortunately, Ford had started to fuss. Stan continued to rock Ford, praying that Fiddlenerd wouldn’t wake up, too.
“Aw.”  Stan looked up.  At some point, Angie had come up from the basement.  She smiled.  “The two of ya are quite adorable right now.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Stan said, rolling his eyes.  “Did you find the nerds’ notes?”  Angie’s smile vanished.
“Yes, I did.  They should revert back to their proper ages before the day is over.”
“That’s great!”  Stan frowned.  “Why do you seem so bummed about it?”
“They were studyin’ my venom.  They turned into babies ‘cause they were lookin’ to cure me of my frogginess.”
“Don’t feel guilty about it, Ang.  This isn’t the worst thing they’ve been turned into. It’s not even in the top five.”
“Yes, but…”  Angie walked over to the “crib” that Fiddlenerd was sleeping in.  She sighed.  “I don’t think I want a cure.”
“I know.”  Angie’s head whipped up to stare at Stan.  “The second Ford and Fiddlenerd starte talking about curing you, you get nervous.”  Stan shrugged.  “I don’t really get the appeal of being a frog.  But if you like it, then don’t get cured.”
“Fidds won’t be happy,” Angie said quietly.
“So?  You’re the one who wants to stay a frog, not him.  His opinion doesn’t matter.”
“I guess…”  Angie sighed again.  “I really do like bein’ a nixie.  It didn’t start out that great, but I’ve come to love it.  I feel so free and in tune with the world around me.”
“Also, you have venom,” Stan pointed out.  Angie managed a small smile.
“Yes.  I have venom.”  She looked down at Fiddlenerd.  “If I was always stuck in frog form, maybe I’d want a cure.  But I can turn human, too.”
“You don’t have to explain yourself to me. It’s your life.”
“Well, you are my boyfriend and get drunk every time I kiss ya in frog form.”
“Cheaper than beer,” Stan said.  Angie snorted.  Ford squirmed in Stan’s arms, fussing again.  “Dammit, can’t you just sleep?”
“Have you ever watched a real infant?” Angie asked.
“You already know the answer is ‘no’.”  Ford’s squirming increased.  “Do you want me to drop you?  Stop wiggling around like one of Angie’s snacks!”  A faint glow began to emit from Ford.  “Uh.”  Then, in a split second, Ford was back to his proper age, still in Stan’s arms.  Ford looked up at Stan in confusion.
              “Stanley?”
“Uh…”  Stan looked at Angie for help.  She shrugged.
“I told ya the effects would wear off by the end of the day.  I’m goin’ to find myself some proper clothes so’s my brother don’t have an aneurysm when he’s back to normal.”  She glanced over at Fiddlenerd’s “crib”.  “Speakin’ of my brother, ya might want to let him out.  Sooner rather than later.”
-----
Sitting on the couch in the living room, Stan idly paged through one of Angie’s guidebooks on amphibians.  Normally, he wouldn’t be interested in something so science-heavy, but he was missing Angie.  He hadn’t seen her for about a week.
And I don’t know why.  Stan frowned at the page the book was open to, an entry on some kind of toad.  She told the nerds she wanted to stay a frog ages ago, and even after that blowup, she didn’t go AWOL.  He sighed. At least this book’s got pictures.
              “Stanley?”  Stan looked up.
“What is it, Ford?” he asked.  Ford stood in front of him, his hands clasped behind his back.
“Do you still kiss Angie when she’s in nixie form?” Ford asked.
              “Uh, yeah.  Why?”
“I’d suspected as such,” Ford sighed.  He sat next to Stan.  “You do realize how dangerous it is, right?”
“Look, at first, yeah, it got me drunk or high or both.  But not anymore.”  Ford stared at him.  “Angie’s theory is that I’m building up an immunity. She said that sometimes if you expose yourself to a poison, it stops affecting you.”
“You haven’t been feeling the effects of Angie’s nixie kisses as strongly?” Ford asked.
              “Nope.”
“That makes me more worried, not less!” Ford burst out.  He pinched the bridge of his nose.  “There’s very little likelihood mithridatism applies to nixie venom.”
              “Mith-what?”
“The process of gradually exposing yourself to a poison to become immune is referred to as mithridatism.”
“Huh.  Weird.” Stan shrugged.  “Maybe you’re just wrong.”
              “The term is-”
“Not about what it’s called.  Maybe you’re wrong about whether I can build up an immunity to Angie’s kisses.”
“I highly doubt that,” Ford said firmly.  “Haven’t you noticed your skin becoming more sensitive lately?  Your voice changing?”
              “It’s allergy season.”
              “You’ve never had seasonal allergies!”
“So?  Just ‘cause I’ve never had them before doesn’t mean I can’t get them later.”
“Stanley, I’m concerned that you don’t realize the gravity of the situation.  You could be transforming into a creature like Angie!”
“Stanford.”  Stan closed the amphibian book.  “It’s my life.  My decisions. Is it stupid to kiss a nixie? Maybe.  But that’s my stupid choice to make.  Not yours.”
“If you go down this path, you might become a nixie yourself.  Is that what you want?”
“I dunno.  It can’t be that bad.  I mean, Angie likes it enough to turn down a cure.”
“I don’t think she actually does like it,” Ford said quietly.  Stan frowned at him.
“What the hell does that mean?”
“Think about it.  She was turned into a magical creature without her consent.  Yes, there are some characteristics of nixies that would be enjoyable, but it’s permanently changed her life trajectory.  I suspect that Angie has fooled herself into thinking she’s fine with her situation as a coping mechanism.”
“Ford…” Stan started.  Ford became more agitated, gesticulating wildly.
“Why would anyone choose to be- to be-”
“A freak?” Stan asked quietly.  Ford froze.  “A weirdo?  Abnormal?”
              “I…”
“That’s what this is about, isn’t it?  It’s about your own hang-ups with your extra fingers. Stanford, what happened when we were kids sucked.  But this is completely different.  For one thing, she’s a grown adult.  She can make her own decisions, just like me.  And like my dumb decisions, you need to respect her smart ones.  Got it?”
“I just…”  Ford sighed.  “Fiddleford speaks very highly of her and her potential.  I don’t want it to go to waste.”
“She’s helping you with your research.  How is that letting her potential go to waste, huh?” Stan asked, elbowing Ford.  Ford managed a small smile.  “By the way, even Fiddleford accepted that Angie wants to stay a frog.  If he can, you can.”  Ford raised an eyebrow.  “You didn’t know that he’s fine with it?”
“No, I knew.  I’ve just never heard you say his name correctly.”
“Eh.  He’s my girlfriend’s brother.  I should probably start using his real name.”
“Hmm.”  Ford eyed Stan thoughtfully.  “Girlfriend for now, but something more serious later?  Potentially soon?”  Before Stan could come up with a response to Ford’s prying, the front door opened. Fiddleford stomped inside, slamming the door behind him.  “I’m assuming that your search in the woods was unsuccessful.”
“Yer right,” Fiddleford choked out.  “I’ve looked everywhere!  She’s- she’s gone!”  He tugged on his hair.  “It’s been a week!  A full week since any of us have seen Angie.  How can somethin’ bad not have happened to her?”
“Nixies are notoriously slippery,” Ford said in a soothing tone.  “Angie has immense strength and venom on her side.  I’m sure she just needed some time to herself again.”
“But she didn’t warn us ‘fore goin’ radio silent!” Fiddleford argued.  “She’s-” There was a timid knock at the door. Everyone froze.
“Hello?” Angie’s voice said nervously.  Fiddleford sprinted to the door and tore it open, revealing Angie on the doorstep.  “H-howdy,” she stammered.
“Banjolina Quinn McGucket, where have ya been?!” Fiddleford demanded.  Angie drew back.  “Sorry. Sorry, my tone was a bit harsh.” Fiddleford took a deep breath. “Banjey, we’ve been worried sick about ya!  Ya disappeared fer a week!”
“I needed some time to recollect myself,” Angie said softly.  “Somethin’ happened that- that threw me fer a loop.”
“What happened?” Stan asked.  Angie bit her lip.  She looked down at what she was holding, a large glass jar with water in it. Water and…
“The coloration is peculiar,” Ford remarked, “but other than that, the item floating in the jar looks like an abnormally large frog’s egg.”  Angie swallowed.
“Egg, yes.  Frog’s, no,” she whispered.  Fiddleford’s jaw dropped.  Ford looked at Stan.  Stan met Angie’s eyes with a silent question.  She nodded mutely.
              Oh. Oh, no.

PART 2 HERE!
・゚: *✧・゚:*
It was easy to maintain a romantic relationship and to believe that everything was alright when we never had to see each other at school.
What’s harder was being in a professional setting and forcing ourselves to confront the reality that what we were doing was wrong.
Just plain wrong.
We must’ve lucked out in the first few weeks of our relationship because it was smooth sailing for the entire first month. We’d even gotten into a routine - found our groove, if you will.
Most often, we would meet at a place far from Hollis, where we knew we wouldn’t run into anyone who would recognize us. There we could just be (y/n) and Spencer; and there I would get lost in the good times and the bliss of the moment to the point of forgetting that we weren’t just (y/n) and Spencer - we were student and teacher, too. Other times, I’d come over to his apartment, but given my living situation, he had never come over to mine.
It was somewhere around our one-month anniversary when our luck ran out.
Holly had come into the room while I was finishing (or at least attempting to finish) reading a court case.
“Are you going to the Promotional FBI Seminar?” She slid a large pamphlet on my desk, never minding the fact that she’d just haphazardly thrown the pamphlet in the spot where my book lied, causing me to lose my place on the page. Though I didn’t outwardly display my frustration, my agitation did grow beneath the surface.
“What’s that?” I asked her, not out of sincere curiosity, but more so because I wasn’t even really listening to what she’d said before, and I’d pushed the pamphlet out of the way before I even read it.
“A couple guys from the FBI are coming to talk to us about the job, like all the requirements to be hired, how much it pays - stuff like that.”
Holly’s voice didn’t make for great background noise, especially when she started rambling while I tried to continue reading.
“Are you going?” I asked. Again, this wasn’t a sincere question, just a way to make it seem like I was listening.
“Yeah, and I really want you to come with me. I think you’d like it. You’re really into crime stuff, aren’t you?”
“Yeah, yeah…” I said in a daze, obviously distracted by my other priorities.
“So you’ll come?”
I should note that I faintly recognized the name and premise of the seminar, but I couldn’t quite place where I remembered it from, and I was far too preoccupied to pay any further attention to the topic, so it slipped out of my mind almost as fast as it entered it.
It was this moment here where Spencer’s eidetic memory would’ve come in handy.
You see, the reason I weakly recalled the seminar was because just three days ago, Spencer had told me he was going to be a guest speaker for it. But again - I didn’t remember that, and so without any recollection of this information, I told Holly I’d go just so she’d stop bothering me about it.
Unbeknownst to me, I’d just agreed to attending my own personal hell.
I woke the next morning to Holly violently shaking me.
“(Y/n), we gotta go! We’re so fucking late!”
Still half-asleep, I mumbled, “Huh?”
“The seminar started at 9:42 and it’s 10:36 right now.”
This was enough to jolt me awake and get me out of bed.
There was just something about the pressure of being late that forced me into a mode where I could get ready in an ungodly short amount of time. I could never get ready that fast unless I was late for something, which makes no sense.
Holly and I ran from our dorm, through the courtyard, and into the classroom, somehow managing not to trip once on the way there. I was actually quite proud of that.
I couldn’t tell you if it was our breathlessness, our late departure, our struggle to find open seats, or a combination of the three, but we’d commanded the attention of the entire room - and the attention of someone I had yet to notice, too.
“There’s a free seat over there. I can sit in the one over here.” Holly told me, suggesting that if we wanted to sit anywhere, we’d have to be separated. I followed her finger to the empty seat, shuffling awkwardly and apologizing profusely to the people I disturbed by approaching. I was so caught up in the hysteria and chaos to even bother looking up at the stage, hindering my ability to meet my impending doom any sooner.
On the way to my seat, I noticed the copious amounts of notes being taken by virtually every student in the room, so rather than taking any time to look up, I was searching my bag down below me for note taking materials.
But as they say - third time's a charm.
After I’d settled into my seat, I finally looked up from the floor and it was then that I was transported back to a month ago - an eerie parallel to this exact moment.
“Holy shit,” I muttered, earning sneers from the people sitting next to me who I’d clearly disrupted with my profanity.
“Sorry,” I whispered to them, for I was truly sorry. I just couldn’t help myself. When I saw him, my stomach dropped. I had a feeling he’d already seen me, but I was too disorderly before to notice.
I did, however, notice how he eyed me from the stage, even doing a double take when we locked eyes.
“Most of us have done extensive work in areas such as …” His voice faded while my mind swirled.
We have got to stop meeting like this, Spencer.
Our eye contact was too much for me to handle, so I was the first to break away. Through the entire question-period, I kept my head down to avoid any eye contact I could.
“Well, that’s all that we have for you today. Before you go, please hand in your applications if you filled them out.” The other lecturer advised.
I was well on my way out of the room even before he dismissed us, but I was drawn back by the sound of the sentence, “Excuse me, Miss? Could you stay back for a moment?”
I briefly walked backwards before turning on my heels and meeting those eyes that I desperately didn’t want to.
“I noticed you came in late and I thought you might want to know the information you missed -” Spencer paused to look over his shoulder, noticing his colleague was attending to someone else and therefore, too engaged in that conversation to interfere with ours.
“(Y/n), what are you doing here?” He asked me in a hushed tone, a stark contrast from his sweet tone from before.
“I’m so sorry, Spencer. I completely forgot that you were a speaker for this seminar. I didn’t even know I was coming until last night when my roommate asked me to come with her. I would’ve warned you if I knew. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to put you in this position.”
My apology was sincere seeing as I promised Spencer we would never run into each other. In fact, it was the sole reason we agreed to stay in this relationship - the mutual guarantee that we wouldn’t be put in these situations, but here we were.
In this fucking situation.
“No, it’s fine. I was just surprised to see you, that’s all.”
Spencer could tell I was flustered and truly apologetic for my ignorance, and he was almost about to reach out and rub my upper arm comfortingly when his actions were cut short by the looming presence of his fellow guest speaker.
“Hi there. David Rossi.” He introduced himself by extending his hand into the space between us. “And you are?”
“(Y/n) (y/l/n).”
_ _ _
“(Y/n) (y/l/n).”
It was like watching my worst nightmare come alive.
If I ever imagined introducing (y/n) to my work family, this certainly wasn’t the plan. I just hoped to God that if Rossi and (y/n) ever met again in the future, he wouldn’t suddenly obtain my eidetic memory and recall her familiar face from this exact moment.
“Got any questions for us?” Rossi coyly asked her. Once more I prayed to God that his profiling skills hadn’t just improved drastically and that he could sense the tension between the two of us. It almost seemed like he asked that question just to tease her because he knew what was really happening. But then again, that was probably just my paranoia speaking.
She looked mortified when he asked this, even glancing back at me briefly as if to ask for a reprieve. “Um, no not really. I-I was just telling Dr. Reid that I’ve applied to audit his class before, but was always rejected.”
“That’s a shame. Well, maybe I can look into that. You know, put in a good word for you.” Rossi chuckled, nudging (y/n)’s shoulder to suggest he’d help her. She only shyly laughed and took a step closer to the door.
“Oh, no you don’t have to do that for me.”
“Nonsense. I’d be happy to do it.”
“Thanks, Mr. Rossi.” With a thankful smile, (y/n) pranced out the door, closing the lecture hall door sharply behind her without one look back.
“Nice girl,” Rossi acknowledged. “But it would be nicer if she could be on time.”
I laughed, despite not finding (y/n) to be at the butt of the joke to be funny at all.
“Um, are you actually gonna put in a good word for her?” I followed Rossi with my eyes, searching his face with a desperate hope that my question didn’t reveal too much.
“Yeah, why not? I figured you would’ve liked to have another student audit your class.”
“Yeah yeah…” I murmured in false agreement.
Herein lies the trouble.
