The Ink Demonth 2023 - Day 23. Contraband

Day 23. Contraband Crossover: Craig of the Creek, Disenchantment Apparently Workshop toys are a pretty bad currency at least for the time being, but wait until you have some more of them, Kit, and you can make the best trade in your life: "limited edition toys from haunted studio, only from me!"

Kit, as well as the Trading Tree itself, come from the cartoon "Craig of the Creek" (I drew Craig once), which is an extremely nice Cartoon Network production showing kids playing on the titular Creek. I love it for many things - firstly, it brings back sentimental memories from my own childhood, secondly, it is a wonderful cross-section of different types of kids and their behavior, thirdly - it shows small problems in a completely different light. Every parent should watch this series to understand things better. I especially love the episodes that alternately show what the kids see - and what is really happening (e.g. during the game "the floor is lava"). My objection is the same as against Bluey: that it is a bit unrealistic that all the kids always take part in the games and accept the sometimes problematic rules (e.g. when playing hide and seek or being trapped in a maze) - that no one will say "ok, I've had enough, I'm not playing with you anymore". But apart from that - a wonderfully presented world of imagination, actually a mini-community. This series was also "nominated" for the City entry for a while, but I decided that I wouldn't find anything else for the Contraband (plus wanted to draw Kit).

I really like the character of Kit. This little, enterprising girl is something of a higher instance of the creek - thanks to her, kids (for a small fee) can eat their favorite sweets or snacks without having to leave their playground and go to the store, she also sells toys and gadgets. I ship her with Craig - all the episodes of them working together confirm in my eyes what a wonderful couple they'll be when they become teenagers. I'm honestly counting on it, because of all the girls hanging around Craig, Kit is the one who best suits him in terms of character and common interests.

More observant people may also notice a guest from another cartoon, this time absolutely not for children - the demon Luci from "Disenchantment" - a series by the creators of Futurama aimed at adult viewers, a somewhat modern fairy tale, and partly a parody of many well-known stories. If someone is an adult and doesn't know it, I recommend it. A wonderful story with a very good ending to the whole plot. Luci, the personal demon of the main character, Princess Bean, is undoubtedly my favourite character. I love his physical two-dimensionality, to his absolutely non-one-dimensional character. I love his texts and the fact that in all his participation in Bean's adventures, he never forgets for a moment that he is a hellish being, and his "do it, do it" is always wonderful. In his original storyline, Luci was considered a "weird cat" by those around him, hence Kit's text (while he's actually just another of Bendy's "cousins" that the ink demon is wandering around with).

As for the technical side... it took a lot of time to colour, but was surprisingly fun. It was the first time in a long time that I shaded in such a strange way. Oh, it's worth noting that the colours of Bendy's clothes were entirely developed by my daughter, Ursa. Kudos to her! By the way, I wonder who Bendy stole these clothes from X"D

Finally, I will just mention that the Contraband theme was originally associated with "The Owl House" and Eda's stall, but I moved it to another place with a better idea. And that's why Craig landed here.

PS. I don't like Kopiko, but I'm not crazy about avoiding showing existing products in my drawings. But seriously, I didn't feel like changing the name, so here you have it, a covert advertisement for the hideous Kopiko coffee candies. You're welcome, Kopiko.

About the situation at hand and why I responded this way

[important please read]

Ok, so as you know I have been in a really dark mental state. A couple days ago I saw a post about a ship which really triggered me and I got extremely upset. Things escalated quickly and I ended up sending hate mail to the person who the post was dedicated to (and has been a problem in the past) and acted outwardly violent on my blog.

I’m sorry for what I did. I was in a really dark state at that moment and couldn’t think of anything else to do, and was so scared. I had felt this was the end for me on tumblr so I decided to go all out. But now I’m still here, and I have to deal with the consequences of what I did.

I really want to talk about how this all happened and why I reacted like this and thinking about it a lot I think I understand why. I have really bad reactions to the ship 0709, but really thinking about it it’s not the ship itself that much. Even though I think the ship is really creepy by shipping a young adult with someone who’s almost middle aged, I don’t care about ships much. In a normal situation I wouldn’t of responded this way. Let me explain.

The original incident started at the very start of the year in the second gartic phone game that was hosted. Someone did a prompt of the ship and I got very uncomfortable. I started getting really stressed and had to quit the game. I talked about my distaste on my blog and how I was feeling. Eventually someone replied on my post saying that the ship was totally ok in this creepy positive tone instead of acknowledging how I felt. I will not go into the specifics of the person who started this as I feel like it’s rude.

But some background, a part of me hated this shop because it reminded me exactly of some other creepy ship in a fandom I was in 3 years ago. I expressed my discomfort for it and was constantly dogpiled and harassed by so many people. Lots of the comments did not acknowledge how I was feeling or tied to reason, and instead replied on this creepy positive way of “it’s ok because…”. In a way that attitude was much worse than the actual hate I got and that experience lead me into an incredibly bad mental state, and is probably the reason I don’t trust people that much online.

Now the comment I received had exactly the same tone as everything that happened back then, and I started freaking out. This was no longer about the ship itself, it had became personal.

To say it again, in any other circumstance I wouldn’t of reacted this way. The ship itself and people’s responses to it made so that 0709 wasn’t just a ship I disliked, but the embodiment of all my fears in this fandom and that one experience online 3 years ago.

Things escalated and it kept getting worse. The idea of the ship itself had long gone and it was more so about what it symbolised.

Now please, to anyone else my attitude seems like I’m just some silly anti who sends hate mail, but this situation has become personal and detached from any sort of shipping.

That one post for Valentine’s Day a complete set me off. Things had been brewing for a long time, especially when I had to leave for a week. It felt like a personal attack, not caring about my situation at all. And I guess that’s where I snapped.

After everything I’ve become extremely paranoid of everyone. Every like on that post or support felt like a swarm of people hating me and out for my blood. I know I have acted irrationally, and because of that I believe I am irredeemable. All I want is to safely return to the fandom and have things be like they were last year. Where I can laugh and make theories and art and talk about the series I love so dearly. But I’m so scared I’m too far gone.

It feels like everywhere I go people hate me. People have been treating this situation in a way that frames me as just some anti. It’s like a game to them. Or perhaps that’s just me being paranoid, as now I can’t tell my fears from reality. So many people have blocked me and I just want to tell them how extremely sorry I am for everything. And even that actions heightens my fear of being hated by people.

I have acted awfully in this situation. I have always been a social isolate and I have never ran into a situation like this where I felt like so many people hated me and I was stuck. And to a point where I knew these people and how it got personal. I had no idea how to respond to a situation like this and I guess even though I never wanted to, ended up resorting to violence.

I just want to say how sorry I am, and hopefully you can forgive me and everything can return back to normal and be happy.

The elves, vampires, pirates... fine. Those are fun and cute, although im a bit over them now. Fantasy characters I am okay with, but I am not comfortable with the family portraits. They are just... wrong.

And now this... Even worse!

I unfortunately happened to stumble on intimate (not explicit but very personal) AI edits of JK & T on inst@

I can't imagine how compromising it must feel for them to have all this real-looking manufactured intimacy floating around the web. It's bad enough that AI songs are using their voices but this is another level.

I'm not specifying who the members are. I'm sure these exist for many pairs that delulu shippers want to see together. I did NOT go looking for jikook photos - i dont want to see them.

I'm incredibly frustrated that people who call themselves ARMY are creating and sharing these. If you are doing it, please stop. Put yourself in their shoes. I dont know in what universe it's ok to create photorealistic images of real people doing things they would never do (certainly not in public) and think its all a bit of fun.

while i'm not saying they are identical ships they definitely fall into the same bucket for me, and boy oh boy do i love that bucket

kashima and hori make me belligerently delighted, and koyanagi and kabakura make me a special sort of feral that i don't even know how to start in on

3. saaaaaaya and yuusuke from neon sign amber (aka aokise knb)

obligatory shoutout to the boys of my FAVORITE BL OF ALL TIME ok so like as far as bl goes neon sign amber is really not the most unique thing, i would say. but that's what makes it so perfect to me

i feel like a lot of outstanding bl are great in ways that are 'atypical' for bl, like how saezuru is bl, sure, but also comes with a genuinely gripping gritty yakuza plot. and many others that are highly praised tend to be praised by people going "oh this is good because it's not like TYPICAL bl" which i have feelings about but let's not get into that here

neon sign amber is my favorite because it is very much a typical bl, it has a lot of the typical tropes (guy who's been historically straight but is "gay for you" for example)

i don't necessarily love any of those tropes, but i adore what neon sign amber does with them. it is practically a cookie cutter bl, but its characters (despite existing for only one volume of a manga) live in my heart forever. it takes that "gay for you" trope and doesn't gloss over the problems that could arise in a relationship like that, instead actually addressing them in a way i found satisfying

saya especially is one of my guys of all time, and given that they're kind of obviously aokise i'm lumping them in here too. mwah

4. idolish7 YUKIMOMO MY BELOVEDS (e banri)

thought about this one a lot because i feel like i normally like them in a... normal way, so do they really make the top five? but honestly i think they do

i love their stage gay married act and i love to think that's very much rooted in a foundation of they are actually fucking in love with each other. but just that would've made them a cute but not too memorable ship to me

THEIR BACKSTORY THOUGH. MY GOD. first of all baby momo looks literally just like tdd ichiro which is a. a lot. for me. lmao but anyway setting that aside

momo discovering revale at such a pivotal time in his life, being saved by them, becoming their fans, and then being the one to replace banri after THAT happened??? and then five years later feeling like he's running out of time with yuki and ad;slkfja;lkdsfj

i'm becoming incoherent just thinking about it. anyway i guess this is kind of an ot3 for me though i like it in very much a "we are a couple and we are, as a couple, dating banri" sort of thing (not because they wouldn't ever see banri as an equal partner but because imo banri has better things to do than get too involved in that lol)

5. this last one... is so tough... i think i'm giving it to VARIOUS RELATIONSHIPS IN TOKYO GHOUL

ok this is absolutely cheating and ultimately i think what i would have to say is kaneki and hide because like. eat my face to survive is peak romance to me, sorry. as if it's my fault

HOWEVER there are just so many relationships in tokyo ghoul that i'm absolutely obsessed with. amon/akira and nishio/kimi especially!! amon and akira are so so so delightful to me, in a way similar to roy and riza fma, and nishio and kimi are just. i mean. again. eat me to survive. peak romance

(and i swear i'm not a nishio stan because of voice actor bias, i have not watched tokyo ghoul yet because i have been repeatedly and sternly warned away from it... nishio is one of my manga favorites even without the asnm factor, but good fucking lord does the asnm factor tempt me to watch)

the writing in tokyo ghoul is genuinely just so good to me. the main plot is fantastic but what really makes it is the relationships between characters, both romantic and not

(also a fan of the one-sided tsukiyama/kaneki thing going on but strictly as a one-sided thing lol, tsukiyama get wrecked (said with affection))

so i think that is. more or less where my top five would be. though it's like. it's hard. and probably always changing. those are the first beloved ones to come to my though so they will go in this post and i will smack myself in the forehead and be like "I CAN'T BELIEVE I FORGOT ______" as soon as i go to sleep probably

Post Traumatic Ship Disorder

Ok, hear me out. This is going to be a long post.

I am grieving and I will be grieving for several reasons. I am grieving for Lucy. I have been broken up by guys like Tim with a mindset that Lucy's had. And, let me tell you, this s u c k s. I believe, she is left alone with a feeling insufficient, with more questions than answers, just like I was. She is left alone with deep insecuirities and not understanding what's going on. Why the guy that only a few days before confessed he loved her suddenly walks away. Why is he making a choice for her? Why is he acting like a 15 year old high school boy? She is clueless and she is hurt. Lucy has been so badass for the whole series that I don't want her to end up with a guy that doesn't treat her like a partner.

I am grieving for Tim Bradford. Because he acted like a huge dick. He shut down Lucy after being the one saying "Unless it is". And he went through with the promise so well for so long and now he... gave up on the fight? He is just na ass. I'm sorry, but he is. I know he is in pain and I know he is stuck in his mind, but that is not a ticket to hurting people you claim to love. It is not.

I am grievieng for Chenford. After a break up like that I kind of don't want them to get back together. I think there might be way for them to come back, but unless he doesn't work this through and doesn't say he's sorry then it'll feel like she's just weak (SHE IS NOT) and he gets what he wants (and he's never been [written] like that). Tim needs to make up for his mistakes and show consistent support and change and repair his communication style. But, even then, if I were Lucy I wouldn't be so quick to let him back in. He betrayed her on so many levels here. He broke their bond, their mutual trust, their partnership. He just ruined the most important relationship of their lives.

I am grieving for the show. One of the reasons I've found The Rookie so special is how they've treated relationships. Until S6 all of the relationships developed organically and were based on mutual trust and willing to be together. It was refreshing to watch, when the drama came from work and not from stupid personal decisions that ramp up the views. And then they just decided to give that up with Tim and Lucy. When you say you love someone like Chenford did in 6x02 you don't hop off the train on the bump. You stay, you work it through. That's what Wopez did with far worse situation when Wesley acted like a scared gazelle with Elijah. And now they just decided to throw this out of the window, because of "the trope". It is such a dick move. And such a male perspective that they did.

I am grieving for myself. Chenford has been in a way deeply personal for me. It's one of the few ships I've boarded that made sense because they were so good at communicating problems, in what I deeply believe. My husband stole my heart, when he said once "Relationships are not supermarkets, you are not in and out whenever you wish. When I'm in, I'm in all the way". I cried so hard after that because of happiness and relief that I finally found someone like that. And so far I thought Tim and Lucy were a couple like that, too. Despite their problems and communication misfits, they were honestly trying and making it work. But now it feels like another couple on another soap dramedy, I grew up with (all the broken hearts of Grey's Anatomy please connect).

I am grieving, but I am a little bit curious how they are going to resolve this. Now I am sad, I am mad, I am frustrated and I don't trust the process anymore. But the promo for 6x07 looks kind of interesting and I hope that they know something I am not seeing because of how much I am in hurt now.

I guess Gravity brought Tim Bradford down for now. And I can write a very angsty fanfic now, which I love to do.

That’s what has me all confused. I’m pretty sure there’s only a small handful of Damangela acc on here, or anywhere. I don’t really know why people have been getting so up in arms about Damangela? I’ve been seeing a lot of hate for ‘damangela shippers’ when I really can only think of like 3? that are openly shipping them together??

Most people posting about Damangela are purely Dynamic Enjoyers™, and openly stating that. I don’t know where this wave of people came from, talking about ‘damangela shippers’ like there’s so many.

I think it’s because those ships in particular are all queer ships. It always strikes me as odd that people are EXTREMELY comfortable shipping rpf if it’s queer, but if it’s hetero they say it’s an invasion of privacy and weird. That’s ^ the only reasonable thing I can think of. (they still aren’t doing a very good job as a community... I think it’s because there’s been a lot of new fans the last couple years)(along with Smosh not being very good with fan discourse)(I could go on for days about this lol)(if there was an obvious figure head in the community that could point the fans in good directions I think that would help with the weird dog piling that’s going on rn)

The one thing I did see that I could imagine being annoying, is that people trying to look through #Angela Giarratana tag are getting flooded with damangela content. (and obviously the #Damien Hass tag as well) I could TOTALLY see why that could make some people mad! but there’s really not much to do about that..

I feel a little bad that we’ve been flooding their tags, but I can’t really do anything about it? I could start not tagging both of them? but I feel like it makes more sense to just filter your own tags than get me to change how I tag (other people would be tagging them even if I stopped anyway..)

Hello, I hope work is going ok

Haha, I also hope this is somewhat coherent, but I am very bad at assembling my thoughts into something that resembles a narative, but here are some thoughts that has been carouseling my mind:

Recently, I have been thinking abou beyblade fantasy AU's: A grant adventure, a world fractured into many fighting factions (some human, some elven, some with magic powers and so on), soon to be overshadowed by The Great Dark Lord Nemesis™️

The legendary bladers are propheciesed to save the world, and as of now most of them traveling together on some great mission to raise an army to defeat Nemesis or smth (everyone except Ryuga? Have a very hard time imagining him going anywhere with anyone). However the legendary bladers are NOT a cohesive unit, they are from different factions and have a hard time trusting each other 😔 </3

Along with this, I've been thinking a lot about armor: how to make it functional and actually protective, while still evoking the feel of the bladers original outfit... (ok actually I've mostly I have been thinking about how to make armor, that looks like a crop top with a big billowy coat for Kyoya, but at the same time actually protect his vital organs)

My solution for now is probably layering some chain mail under some cut up shirts, but then I ran into my second problem: that much armor is heavy, noisy and warm (since you'd also need layers beneath the chain mail), would an adventurer even wear that much armor on a day to day basis?... So now I am trying to come with a way to balance that out... (Actually after writing it down tho, Kyoya specifically would absolutely see wearing heavy armor as a great training exercise...)

Also bc Kyoya gets special treatment as my favorite character, and I think he could use more "great-destiny-I-didn't-pick-and-thus-don't-want" issues: Mayhap his mother is the heiress to one faction, but she was driven away by an usurper, who is now out to kill her and her descendents? (No scars from *accidently* falling windows in this AU)... (Also maybe the usurper is paying Chris to take care of her descendents?)

fantasy au my beloved!! the idea of the legendary bladers roaming around the lands and trying to rally an army while constantly bickering with each other is so funny. i have to agree that ryuga probably wouldn't travel with them but! imagine the kenta & ryuga interactions in this scenario :(( kenta tries to learn magic from ryuga who is so so good at it but unwilling (and without the patience lbh) to teach. kenta just stares at him really hard and tries to learn by observing ryuga do impossible feats of magic. ryuga acts annoyed but he also loves the attention lol

plsss kyoya in fantasy armor is simply amazing and badass. id love to see it. i know its impractical but i do imagine him in a chainmail crop top or something similarly unnecessary but stylish. anything for the glam. could also imagine some kind of corset top-like leather armor? i think leather armor would be the go-to for adventurers anyway.

kyoya is the perfect protagonist for a "refusal of the call" trope lmao. it would be a "fuck this, im gonna do my own thing" situation with him. every. time. "i don't care that you're a god or fate or whatever and you can't tell me what to do."

d-did you just make kyoya/chris possible in this au?? FJFDHSSJS maybe it's just my permanent brainrot for this ship but! chris keeps failing to assassinate kyoya but he's come close a couple of times and also kyoya's scars being a result of one of chris' assassination attempts and also they know each other by now after all this time and they probably keep bickering while trying to kill each other which is so unprofessional but it's almost like they're friends and do they really actually truly want to harm each other at all at this point?

Well have I got good news for you. The answer to "Which of those crack ships I mentioned is the one that I myself have written?" is in fact, Raine x Wonder Chef. I have the original Word file, which helpfully recorded the exact date it was created, so I can tell you that I wrote this at the age of 15 at 1:44 AM (it was probably a school night):

Genis yawned and sat up in bed, wondering why he was awake.  He rubbed his eyes, looked around his room, and realized Raine’s bed was empty.  Huh, that was odd.  Raine was usually a deep sleeper, and rarely got up in the night. 

He remembered when he was little and used to sneak out of the house at night with Lloyd, and Raine just snored as he crept out the creaky door.  Her arms would hang off the side of her bed, blankets kicked to the floor, book she’d been reading before bed resting under her cheek. 

But now she was missing, and he was a bit concerned.  He crawled out of bed, noticing the open window with the ocean visible in the distance, illuminated by the full moon.  Perhaps it was the sound of crashing waves and the smell of fish and salt that had woken Raine up, although they’d been in Palmacosta for a few days so she should be used to it by now. 

Well, if Raine was up, too, then he didn't know how many of them were actually asleep.  Colette had been in bed resting all evening after the fight with Kilia, and Lloyd had diligently sat by her side.  Whenever Genis poked his head in, she was always awake, staring blankly at the ceiling or chatting with Lloyd.  He’d always tell her to go to sleep, but she’d just smile and say she wasn’t tired yet. 

Genis left the room, seeing Kratos and Lloyd’s room door open.  They were probably out training somewhere.  The question was, where was Raine?  He walked down the stairs to the main room, looking around.  

Wait...was that voices?  Yes!  He heard something coming from the kitchen!  It sounded like Raine’s voice, too, from the sound of things.  Happy to find her but dreading what she might be doing in the kitchen, Genis approached the closed door and listened, wondering who she could be talking to.

“It’s so large!” Raine was saying.  “I’ve never seen one quite this size before.”

“Yes, I know,” a male voice Genis didn’t recognize said.  “I’m quite proud of it.”

"I've seen one before, of course, but a more average size, you know?”

“Yeah, I’ve never met anyone else with one this big before.  It makes me feel special!  Do you want to touch it?”

“Oh, could I?”

“Go ahead!”

The was a pause.  “Wow, it’s so smooth.  And the shaft is so thick!  Is it even practical?”

“Well, it’s really more for show, if you know what I mean.  But we’re really getting sidetracked.”

“Yes, I know.  I’ve cleared the table, just like you asked.”

“Ah, good.  We’ll need plenty of room to make our magic.”

“Magic, hm?  I know a thing or two about magic...”

They were quiet for a bit, and Genis overheard the clank of a pot and shuffling things around.  He was very confused about this conversation, but didn’t want to interrupt.

“Ok,” the man said.  “Now you just need to take off – oh!  Very nice!”

“Yes,” Raine said, uncertainty in her voice.  “But I don’t know...I think they’re too small.”

“Nonsense.  Just look at them!  So round and smooth, the skin so white and soft...they’re perfect.  I want to just put my mouth around them - lick and bite them.”

Raine laughed.  “Oh, you’re just saying that.  But is it warm enough yet?  I feel a bit wet.”

“That’s because it’s so steamy.  But yes, I think everything’s ready.”

“Oh, I’m rather excited.  I’ve only done this a couple times and I’ve never been very good.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll guide you.  Are you ready?  First, this goes in here...”

Genis was starting to get a bad feeling about this.  Without knocking, he burst into the room, a bit afraid of what he would find.  “S-Sis!  What are you...?”

Raine and the Wonder Chef looked up at him, standing over a boiling pot of water.  The Wonder Chef had two onions in his hands, his giant fork leaning against the counter. 

“Genis?” Raine asked.  “What are you doing up?”

“Uh, I saw that you weren’t there and wondered where you went....”

“Oh,” she said.  “The Wonder Chef was trying to show me how to make a soup.  I wanted to surprise you and Lloyd tomorrow for dinner.”

“O-oh.  I’ll just...head back to bed now...”  Feeling a bit embarrassed at his outburst, he darted out of the kitchen and headed back upstairs.

Raine just sighed and shook her head.  “He can be rather overprotective at times.”

The Wonder Chef just shrugged.  “Now, where were we?”

Absolutely! Let's see....

1 . Do you prefer writing one-shots or multi-chaptered fics?

Honestly, multi-chapter! I actually find it really, really hard to write a one-shot. I mean, I can do it, and certainly have done it... but my plots usually tend to get away from me and branch out here, there, and everywhere! The only problem is, I also don't tend to finish those multi-chapter monsters...

7 . How do you choose which POV to write from?

It depends on what story I am trying to tell. If I want some details to go unknown to a character for mystery's sake, I will write in their POV; or I will write in the POV of the person who has the most emotional stake. When I am writing a ship fic, I often try to write from both POVs (alternating from chapter to chapter) to compare and contrast how they are coping or what they are thinking. The challenge there is to get the "voices" right, though.

16 . How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Share one of them?

Far, far too many to count! In way too many different fandoms! Of the stories I haven't posted a word on yet (as opposed to current WIPs that I have up at AO3), there's at least one Lokius AU, a couple Bagginshield angst pieces, three gen TMNT fics, and a couple of random ideas that I have yet to fix a fandom to.

25 . What fic do you wish you got more of a response on?

Oh, gosh. It's weird, but although I absolutely love getting comments, I don't often push for them because I don't want to seem... needy, I guess? Back in the late 90s and early naughties, it was actually a lot easier to get responses to fics. The fandoms were smaller and everyone knew everyone, so the stories would be passed between friends online... so now living in the age of kudos is actually a bit disorienting. Of course, the fics that don't get responses are usually about pretty obscure people or situations. Like Afterimage (a short Hobbit thing about Nori as a child), The Touch Of Rain (about Cobb Vanth), and When She Loved Me (an imagined backstory about a character that was only in the TMNT Adventures comics... and when I originally wrote and posted that one twenty-some years ago, it got a much better reception). I do notice that gen stories tend to get swept to the side in favor of ship-fics, though, which always seem to get some kind of response.

56 . What’s something about your writing that you pride yourself on?

Actually, what I mentioned up in #7 about finding the right voices. I think I do okay with getting into characters' heads and making them each sound individual. Again, like I said... it isn't always easy. I'm currently writing a chapter in a story... and in this chapter a character is in medical distress and we are seeing it from their POV. Problem is, two chapters ago there was a different character in medical distress whose POV I was writing from... and in both instances the characters are waking up from being treated. It's taking a bit of juggling to make sure the second one and the first one are different enough so people don't think, "hey... I've read this already!" It helps, I guess, that one of the characters is more skilled in medical concerns, so they are more calm about the whole thing while the other one was in full panic mode.

not to say something super obvious like grass is green and water will get you wet, but ummmm . even outside of dnd, mike and will would 100% roleplay together. they're both creatives with similar tastes, so i can see them coming up with all of their different little worlds and original characters to fill them up. some of them are fantasy, others are more adventurous, and some of them are their own superhero universes similar to marvel n dc but better because it's theirs. will draws their ocs and pivotal scenes and mike tells him they'll totally make a movie together about this one day obviously.

will isn't as confident in his writing, but mike tells him to shut up because of course you're good!!! you're great even!!! and you can draw, too, like talk about being a double threat, will!!! i won't stand for this slander of my best friend! will of course Loves mike's writing and all of the ideas and plots he can come up with at the drop of a hat. he lets and encourages mike to infodump about his characters' backgrounds, the world building, and all of the interpersonal subplots he was thinking they could do, and when mike suddenly peters out bc he's been talking nonstop for a couple minutes straight, embarrassed bc Dear God I'm Talking Too Much And Being Annoying Aren't I, will jus tilts his head and goes "why did you stop? :(" which makes mike pause n bashfully do The Will Smile bc ofc will is listening ofc he actually wants to know and cares abt wht i'm saying of course he does!! (insert butterflies in his tummy here) and so he keeps on going and tells him all about everything he was thinking abt during their super boring history class.

will is a little nervous the first time he shares that one of his characters is gay actually and mike is a little shocked NOT bc of the gay thing but bc will says it so quietly n nervously tht mike is just like ?!?!?!? u thought this would be a problem?! u thought i'd have a problem with this?!?!??! what?! and then before u kno it so many of their characters are lgbt tht they're eventually like ok .... i hate to say it, but i think we need some straight characters too just for diversity points here, which becomes a little inside joke of theirs.

and if one of their favorite ships just so happens to be a knight and a mage that were childhood companions turned lovers then tbh thts Their business and clearly they both really like this ship bc who doesn't love the fantasy element okAY it doesn't Mean anything, lucas, plEAse stop looking at me like tht or i will never share anything with u ever again thank u!!!!!! ok so i feel like it's about time i've talked about the weird, convoluted headcanon lore i've made for DJMM. everything i leave in my head for too long gets distorted and unrecognizable from.the source

ok so i think a lot of DJMM enjoyers have seen this tweet and while it's fake, because there's like 5 sentences alluding to DJMM in the entire game i've accepted it as fact and I went so overboard with the detail that it says home language. Not like, "original language" or nothing like that, home language

So, alongside the fact that DJMM has a couple things implying that he wasn't originally from Fazbear Entertainment (why would fazbear entertainment issue a warranty... to themselves?...), and that there also just happens to be a wedding dj company called The Music Man IRL that I found by accident, I kind of just made this whole weird thing that before he was bought by Fazbear Entertainment he was a Wedding DJ in Japan.

Alongside being able to set up practically everything, clean up afterwards, and cater to guests in all sorts of ways, he was also made to be able to just... hit the town and stroll down to his destination instead of being directly shipped to or brought there. Imagine being some little kid watching this giant spider thing stroll down the street.

Hold on to that visual, actually, because that brings me to why he considers Japan his home rather than just his... place of origin.

So his bouncer mode. It actually wasn't experimental but rather a very often-used mode of his since I imagine he's attended many weddings were someone has had to be... forcibly escorted out. But what the problem is with it is that during that mode, he is essentially given no restrictions on what he can do and has just been activating it so he can go against orders.

He's big, but he's travelling on hand, hulking around a big bag of supplies on the way, it may take a while for him to get from headquarters to his destination, maybe even days. But what his creators don't know is that he's been taking detours and entire days off to bond with civilians that have been fascinated by him, originally just children marvelling him, but he grew closer to them and becoming much more like a weird uncle to them, growing a bond with a rural community to the point even their families know of him and see him as a friend, and it's this bond that starts to bring problems.

DJMM starts to demand things that robots don't really get to demand, like days off and privacy, which concerns the company as for why he'd even need that. He starts committing outright fraud to insert legally insert himself into society and starts taking tips or some of the profit to spend for himself. He starts tearing out/ sabotaging GPS systems, or disabling microphones so they can't figure out where he's been going or what he's saying. It gets to the point where he outright threatens employees' lives and keeps some hostage to force them into allowing him to do what he wants.

The arms race between DJMM and his creators comes to a close when his creators decide to sell him off to Fazbear entertainment, sieging him and choking him of his battery life before doing a factory reset and sending him off, finally getting rid of him (also voiding Fazbear's warranty on him if his bouncer mode is ever activated again)

While he was able to secretly save his memories, it's not much use now that he's in a whole new country. He's still figuring out how to reconnect with the kids he practically watched grow up but he's also still getting up to trouble in America. we stan a dude who commits... all of this

His design is, now that i realize it, very much inspired by Moguro from the Laughing Salesman. Also he's got the fun eye liquid swirlies from DJMM's Beta design

can I say something controversial after we just got done celebrating miles and Alex reuniting?

I think Milex is a cute ship, it is, they are an adorable pair. their chemistry is very sweet and they are like soulmates you can tell, be that platonic or not in y'alls opinions. I personally don't ship it (always been a mattlex girly myself, platonically talking). I do feel at times y'all do focus on the wrong thing with Miles and Alex. some of you lot love defending Miles and how he doesn't deserve to just be associated with Alex but please and I beg you, tell me truthfully you know Miles from his solo work and not from TLSP. there's few of us, I think Miles is great and his music is good, I saw him before AM live FFS but no I wouldn't know Miles without Alex. It's just a thing that will always exist and it's unfortunate I know but it's true. I also think documenting and cherry picking at specific moments that have literally no correlation at all to milex romantic moments and making them oddly sexual is fucking odd. like I'll give you the d, I wish you would: that's an innuendo, that's funny and you can make that sexual cuz they did. they act like an old married couple at times. the lentils joke about their bad habits for example, it's cute and domestic. it's fic material. I understand that, trust me but like sometimes they are just on coke and giggling like little boys over like bringing bread and crumpets to the studio and that's not an allegory for fucking each other (an actual real post someone made). please it's odd and fetishism of two men who are straight. I understand that being gay is still a taboo subject for some people from more oppressive countries and maybe at 14 when you found AM, milex was your first introduction to shipping culture and men being shipped together, that would be exciting to you. However the nuances of that is that it can cross a line to a degree where you aren't respecting the two real people. I was in the Dan and Phil fandom before they came out and we had an era called 2012 where Dan especially was on the defense constantly to a point where it was a taboo to us to talk about but through time, that defense became more empathetic with them coming out. we all grew up and that behaviour from when we were kids was not ok anymore and that frustration was valid. I have many straight friends who have felt that pressure to be part of the LGBT community in order to not be shamed and on the flip side, I don't even need to tell you how hard it is still for lgbtqia people to want to hide in the closet with all the problems we still as a society have to face.

what I'm trying to say is, these are straight men and it's ok for straight men to be affectionate with their friends, I know it may still be frowned upon in some cultures but we wouldn't have am without a close bond between the lads. we wouldn't have TLSP without miles and Alex being best friends. i don't think milex is wrong, plz do what you want, draw your porn art if you want, write fics upon fics but plz just think about why this makes you so happy and understand the true consequences on what you say because you could be upsetting the gay community around you by being elated that miles can kiss his friend on the cheek. let boys love each other platonically or not, it doesn't matter. If Alex or Miles came out tomorrow, I'd support them, it's just something to think about.

Plus it's ok for teenagers and younger people to see what the boys do and want that, that's valid and I hope you have fun. There's a point where you may realise that something you said was a kid that you don't agree with and that's part of growing up, I know (hence the dnp rant). I see this now as an adult and think of that as crossing a line by prying at someone's sexuality cuz that's not mine to know and I don't know that person in real life. However if you are like a long time monkeys fan in your late 20s, early 30s, please consider what you're doing and re-evaluate what this means to you because maybe it's not just Alex and Miles that make you feel this way and that's not healthy: that's a parasocial relationship you've held for so long you don't know any different.

1. 3 ships I really like right now: Ohhh this is always tough for me. I have so many ships at all times. Ok well if we're going by my current brain rot...

Dreamling: No one is surprised by this. They caught me by the throat and have not let go for the last year. It's so funny coming in as someone who was familiar with the comics before the Netflix adaptation, because they are not at all romantic. Like, I got no romantic vibes from them (and I'm someone who sees romance vibes in everything). The MOST romance I can see MAYYYYYBE (and this is a massive maybe because I only read this arc after the show aired and I was already getting into Dreamling) happens in The Wake (and I won't go into further details because those are massive spoilers). Why do I like Dreamling? They're just so feral for each other in fanon. Plus it helps that the actors on the show had incredible chemistry with each other (I would also consider HellDream and DreamMuse as other potentials because yeah he looked like he was about to make out with those two actresses).

SnowBaz: I still have so much love for SnowBaz. This was the pair that got me through a massive depression/writing slump. Seriously guys, read Wayward Son and Any Way The Wind Blows if you want an accurate representation about depression and intimacy problems and just finding yourself once that biggest event of your life is over. It's about learning to live after trauma and how to heal. Plus this was also the first CANON queer couple I read and helped me to become comfortable with my own queer identity. Yeah... I may move on and have other loves, but Simon and Baz will always hold an irreplaceable part of my heart.

Tie between Ineffable Husbands and BlackBonnet: These are two very new relationships and I just love them both so much. I don't know much about BlackBonnet, because I've only seen gifs of the second season and nothing more, but from what I've seen, omg I am so excited. As for Ineffable Husbands, they are SO interesting to me and I have been enjoying reading the Metas that have been coming out after the second season. It's so interesting to me, to connect this to SnowBaz, to see the reactions after the second season aired. It reminds me A LOT of the explosion that occurred after Wayward Son was released (an explosion that not only continued the closer we got to AWTWB being released, but also contributed to Rainbow Rowell leaving Twitter). I'm not going to get too deep into this (though @carryonsimoncarryonbaz has been trying to convince to write a meta comparing the two because MY GOD ARE THERE SO MANY CONNECTIONS).

2. First ever ship: Honestly? Sailor Mercury/That boyfriend she had... what was his name? Greg? I thought they were so flipping cute. Plus I liked that the nerdy girl had someone who thought she was cute. As the Nerdy Girl myself, it made me happy to see.

3. Last song:

Fegari - Natasa Theodoridou: One of my favourite Greek songs. I've been in a Greek music mood as of late, and this is a beautiful song. It's about a woman who prays to the moon to bring her husband back from his mistress, and to watch over him if she can't. She also asks the moon to take her from the Earth so that she may see her husband from above.

At least... that's what my husband tells me. Greek music is so morose you guys.

4. Last movie: I watched Barbie last week with my husband. We both loved it so much. It's such a great dark comedy.

5. Currently reading: Lots of fanfiction, but I recently bought a beautiful Jane Austen collection, as well as an illustrated collection of poems by Rumi, so I want to dive into those.

people dont like mileven anymore bc they lost their chemistry, finn's acting sucks now and they dont fit anymore. everyone shipped them in season 1/2 bc aww cute puppy love and season 3 was ok. but now its not the same.

Hate to break it to you, but that's a completely You problem. When two people have good chemistry as actors, I don't think you can suddenly lose that. If you think cute puppy love is all that is required for two people to be called a legit couple, then maybe you need to grow up more? When people grow up, when they become more mature, or more specifically when you genuinely love someone, the touchy-feely romance, the kissing and making out, all of this becomes somewhat secondary. Mike and El's relationship has matured so much this season it's almost unbelievable that two 15 year olds could have that. People who could really see it, like me and many others, would most probably say Season 4 Mileven was by far the best. They survived a long distance relationship successfully, they went through communication problems, they had, as Mike says, quite an 'adult' fight, and these would only develop them more as a couple. That they can be so far away, yet so connected. Even though they constantly get separated for external reasons, they were always loyal to each other, and the only thing they had in their mind was each other. The argument also helped in exploring what El wants, and what Mike is struggling with, and it's all very reasonable and mature. Emotionally. Being cute, holding hands, kissing and all are just ways of expressing love, which people can do even if they are not in love. What really matters is what you really feel in your heart and this season's Mileven definitely explored that and it was brilliant.

About Finn's acting, sorry you felt that, but many of us didn't. We think he was great this season, so do the people who have been directing him for seven years. Also, I don't really know if you can gradually become worse as an actor? I think you can only go from bad to good, idk if you can do the opposite? So sorry. You sent it to me knowing I wouldn't agree, and I didn't.

For me I would prefer halemond as second choice after Rhaena.

for me this scene shows that this little Aemond who feels uncomfortable with his brother N cousins, likes his sister and defends her when Aegon makes fun of her.

He feels safe and close with Helaena as compared to others. He has admiration for her. Yes you can call it family love or sister love or a little boy having goofy dream of marrying her sister but whatever it is I do see that he feels genuine liking for Helaena.

Now idk whether it was intentional or not but whatever was there, I felt Aemond was around Helaena way more than Aegon should have been whole time. From dinner scene to him entering to her room early to children speaking Aemond's name till Aegon's crowing moment, we all saw it but refuse to accept it for one reason or another.

Green Stans claiming that there so called 'duty driven boy' would never do anything like this as it would be against of his personality. Really How ? Also same green stans are ok with Aemond falling for women who represents everything he hates. An strong bastard women ? Who will be his war bride or war prize.

I can understand if Aemond and Alys actually grew like a couple becoming fond of each other while spending time but sorry it's not. If some Aemondwives truly like his character then they should not be doing this kiddish activity that "Aemond is acceptable if it follows everything accordingly to my head canon only".

If Ewan came and said he supports or love halemond if this ship happened which I don't think it will but if he supports it then Aemondwives would definitely hate him I guess😑☠️

Aemond is antagonist I think many of his wives and green Stans need to recall. So him doing any sort of malicious work would not harm his character arc in anyway neither any of his ships I can guarantee.

He has his own character arc which doesn't only revolve around his love interest. Yes I can understand dislike for incest but world where everyone is r$pist, killer, groomer, abuser, consensual incest only would definitely be last thing to worry about.

You all can enjoy your ship without creating any huge drama for anything happening in series where every single person is problematic.

Who is stopping you to ship Helaena with any lady or someone else. You are all free to have to headcanon and enjoy it.

You know this behaviour among Stans genuinely make people hate that character. I really like characters like Dany, Daemon and Aemond but their stans are irritating many times. It happened with stranger things also

Hello.... If you don't mind me asking, who are your favorite romantic relationship's couples in books/ manga/ anime/movies/tv series (can be canon or non-canon)? Feel free if you want to write the reasons or not of why you love them...Thanks if you want to answer....

Ohohoh, I don't mind at all! I've been fujoshi since forever (and I mean it, one of the very first anime I watched was Gravitation), so this is dominated by m/m couples, of various states of canon... Warning: long post.

My OTPs are Wataru/Eichi from Ensemble Stars and Yuki/Momo from IDOLiSH7. I could write essays (and sort of have done) about Wataru and Eichi, I sometimes joke I don't need romance novels because Wataru and Eichi provide all the twists, from graduation rooftop "proposal" to flirting in front of their unitmates to jealous fits to bragging about their relationship to others. There's almost 9 years of lore here so I'll just say here that their story is superb and they are my jam.

Yuki and Momo are just the most married and cute and funny couple. And funnily have some similar beats as Wataru and Eichi, where one (Yuki, Eichi) was devastated by something to point they didn't really see any reason to continue and the other (Momo, Wataru) came to drag them out of their gloom.

I have other Ensemble Stars ships I enjoy too: Tatsumi/Mayoi, Nagisa/Hiyori, Izumi/Leo, Rinne/Niki... I usually go for ships that have fair amount of canon material and these do.

I have one more OTP: Shizuma and Minato from Therapy Game. Aaa, their relationship is great because Minato *knows* all his own faults and tries to be rational but it's so hard, and Shizuma understands that and has patience of a saint. But Shizuma also doesn't always understand how some of his innocent actions towards other people look to Minato. But they are really cute and hot too. And I bow to Meguru Hinohara for her storytelling and art, her other series, The Dragon's Betrothed is good too.

Other manga couples I like are Hirano & Kagiura from Sasaki & Miyano, and their own spin-off series of course. I like Sasamiya a lot too, they are really sweet but I find myself being more invested in Hirano and Kagi's thing.

Ok, what next... I just finished The Case Files of Jeweler Richard novel vol. 7, so Seigi and Richard. If there ever was what's-actually-gonna-happen?? slowburn, it's here. Seigi is damn slow and Richard communicates in riddles but man I'm invested. I also bow to Nanako Tsujimura for these books, love them.

Speaking of slowburns and slow realizations and dumb communication (/affectionate), the danmei royalty of Hua Cheng and Xie Lian and Lang Wangji and Wei Wuxian. Both are very good. I love the trope of love transcending time and all that, so Hua Cheng waiting for 800 years for Xie Lian ticks this box so hard.

I'm also basic, so of course Viktor and Yuuri from Yuri On Ice are on my list. Same also for Ash and Eiji from Banana Fish. Touya and Yukito from Cardcaptor Sakura. Oh, I quite like Cherry blossom and Joe from Sk8 too.

I have a bunch of Genshin Impact ships I enjoy. I'm most invested in Alhaitham/Kaveh and Diluc/Kaeya. I like ships that have a past, I'm sure you noticed.

Ok, should I mentioned relationship that nobody probably knows about... But I keep thinking it a lot. There's this BL visual novel called Tokyo Onmyoji, the main character Rei is dealing with all kinds of supernatural problems as onmyoji. One of the routes is with his childhood friend Suguru and that route is beeeest. It's so good, deals with trauma and family trouble and their past and aaa now I'd like to read it again.

Also, Dramatical Murder is my least favourite Nitro+Chiral visual novel but damn, Koujaku and Aoba are so good couple, it ticks again so many boxes for me. (why oh whyyyyy that gorgeous figure of them is so expensive?! I can't justify myself to get pieces of plastic that cost two month's rent...)

Alright, let's pretend for a moment I'm not completely rotten woman... One of my favourite game couples is Eirika and Seth from Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones. It again gives me the "I've always liked you but I have kept my distance for reasons". I'm also in the Cloud/Tifa (minority?) camp for FFVII ships.

Kiyoka and Miyo from My Happy Marriage are het couple I'm really behind. I like how they are in the "so good for each other" category and how they've had to work on their relationship. The anime didn't show Kiyoka's thoughts that much but in the books he's also still learning how to be a good boyfriend/husband.

Shin and Lena from 86. Often I'm just "ok" about obvious couples like these but they are the exception. I think maybe it helped that they were separated soon after they got to know each other and then had to sort of got to know each other again.

Oh btw, I do read yuri too but I'm usually more into the series as a whole or one character's personal growth rather than their relationship. Like Sayaka from Bloom Into You. She's my favourite character from the series and I like her spin-off light novel series but I'm most into her finding peace with herself and love in general, if you understand what I mean. But! Hanako and Alice from Goodbye, My Rose Garden manga are my favourite yuri couple! Escaping relationship/marriage that people expect for you but you don't want, to unite with your true love is a trope I'm really fond of.

But Xitty, do you have any Western media couples you like? Well, murder husbands aka Hannibal and Will Graham I think of fondly and love forever. I was very very big Sherlock and John shipper (BBC ver.) and you can't take that away really. I'm also basic when it comes to Doctor Who, so Tenth Doctor and Rose make my heart flutter and eyes cry for their doomed (kinda) story. I just find myself watching less and less Western shows, so I don't even know what's happening there nowadays.
