I think my least favorite thing ever of all time is when I’m reading a fanfic and Basen and Lily are villains like NO my children would NEVER

It’s usually the case in OG Cale fanfic, now don’t get me wrong I love the guy but also his family was not all horrible, and Basen and Lily were NEVERRRR at fault. Lily is literally like, seven years old and Basen is fifteen neither of them hate their brother either. Any child wouldn’t know how to approach their older brother who doesn’t talk to them and is distant(+ is known for having a bad personality) like that isn’t their fault 😭😭

OG Cale distanced himself from his siblings to protect them, there’s no one to fault in this situation for things turning out this way because it happened due to so many combining circumstances. Like IDK! I just don’t like it when Lily and Basen are treated like bad people cause I just find it a bit ridiculous.

Basen and Lily could’ve tried talking to OG Cale, but the real question is if he would let them talk to him ykwim, his act was perfect with literally no flaws. The reason it worked so well was because no one KNEW him and he probably knew that part too. The sadness to their situation is that they all had their reasons and cared for eachother but there wasn’t really any communication

Tbh it should have been Deruth’s job to ask Cale what was wrong, he’s not like the worst father ever okay but he also has extreme communication issues! The Henituse’s middle name is practically ‘communication issues’ like none of them are very good at it I fear. Deruth clearly cares for his son a lot, but he doesn’t know how to approach Cale possibly out of guilt/fear he’ll hurt his son even more. Which is why he just let’s Cale do what he wants

I think it’s important to note that the family did have faith in Cale, they all knew he wasn’t a bad person but they were all just so distant from eachother. I don’t think Deruth would have offered KRS!Cale to go to the capital after like a weeks worth of changed behavior unless he knew that there was more to his son than what the public thought. Again I think the big issue with the Henituse family is their communication

The characters all have complicated dynamics and personalities and it’s just something I don’t like when everything is treated very one dimensional

I'm sure that a PJ book mentions that the immortal children of the gods like to annoy and play practical jokes on their parents' half-breed children, how the yanderes would react seeing them Percy being bullied and belittled by her brothers and sisters, this is already shown to us in the last hero of Olympus when Triton wants to make Percy understand that she is a coward and emphasizes to him that he is the heir of the seas (I've always wondered what the need for an "heir" is if his father is immortal) and that she is not technically a princess according to the label she is a Bastard because Sally was not even Poseidon's concubine when he was with her and that those who are true princesses are the two daughters of Poseidon with Amphitrite being the legitimate wife and Queen from Atlantis (her daughters are called Cimponela and Rhodes if I'm not mistaken)

BUT ANYWAY, poseidon and hades would be the most pissed about this i think.

poseidon's already mad that he has all these kids that are either ugly af, monstrous, and just "imperfect" to him in general, and now he finds out that they've been bullying his daughter (and, in more extreme cases, trying to kill her). like, how DARE they? this would also fuel his hatred for pjo poseidon because "control your fucking sperms you pos, they keep attacking MY daughter 😤". since he can't kill the godly children, he'd probably just toss them into tartarus as a form of "time out" asjfhjahvf 😭😭😭

hades is GREATLY disappointed but not to a murderous extent at least. "this is not how you treat your little siblings, young man/lady 😠, i expected better from you". he's THEEEE big brother of big brothers, so he would be very disgusted at how pjo! posideon's kids are behaving (and the other godly children tbh cuz wtf leave your little half-blood siblings alone!!!). he would also click his tongue at pjo! poseidon's poor parenting and would probs scold him to get better control over his godly children: "your children are bullies, you should be ashamed of yourself for letting this go on!!! DO BETTER!"

as for beelzebub, he'd be the same as poseidon but more swift about it. the SECOND he realizes that percy's godly siblings like to either bully/attack her, he's throwing them into tartarus. won't even hesitate or anything, he is NOT letting this go any longer because he's paranoid and overprotective like that.

apollo would be a mix between hades and beelzebub. since these godly kids are his beloved's siblings, he would TRY to tell them to either leave her alone or be nicer, but they're obviously not gonna listen so he's gonna whisk percy away to delos (kidnap) while he "deals with her siblings 😊". can't risk his darling being killed!

as for loki, he'd be pissed at the treatment, BUT he would encourage percy to get revenge. she'd most likely say no cuz she honestly doesn't wanna deal with her godly siblings (can't remember), so he would avenge her instead by playing some "harmless" pranks on them.

Bela Dimitrescu gasps in surprise as her light wooden door is slammed open. In her shock she nearly drops the book from her hand. Ready to snarl at whatever maiden clumsily enough to disturb her like this, at this hour no less, she looks up angrily.

Instead, her features soften when she eyes her two younger sisters in the doorway, their heads lowered shyly as they seem to be very adamant on avoiding her golden eyes.

A loud, echoing boom from outside changes this. Their heads pipe up at the loud bang, eyes wide and fear written all over them for the blonde to see. Daniela whimpers quietly, her hand gripping Cassandra’s tightly.

Bela smiles softly at them. In her eagerness to finish her book, she didn’t notice a thunderstorm had started. And what a storm it is! Loud, harsh bangs ring out from the sky every few moments, startling the auburn and brown haired girl. Thick, heavy raindrops fall from the sky and drop heavily against the castle’s roofs. Harsh, cold wind bends the trees outside the blonde’s windows and slams loudly against them.

The pats the bed she is on, and spreads her arms wide. Immediately the door to her room slams shut and Bela feels two large bodies push against her, clinging tightly.

She hisses when their claw-like nails are dug into the skin of her waist and stomach, not yet deep enough to cause blood to drip from her, but certainly enough for the blonde to feel it.

The poor women are shaking on her, with occasional gasps being pulled from their lips. She feels their hectic breath on her, the dampness of her own skin when tears hit it.

Their distress lessens as she wraps her arms around the two frightened women and gently pulls the heavy blankets to their noses. She kisses their foreheads gently.

“It’s just a thunderstorm, it’s all going to be okay”, Bela coos softly. She feels her sisters shift closer to her, until they are practically clinging onto each side of her lap and body, their nails used to keep them attached to the blonde.

Another loud bang, more trembles.

When a particularly loud bang of thunder rings throughout the night, both sisters jump, their heads banging against one another and Bela’s. They whine pitifully, and Bela resists the urge to giggle at them. Instead, she presses a kiss to their foreheads and gently guides their heads back to her shoulders. “Be careful, you two”, she reminds them.

The eldest strokes brunette and auburn curls gently, untangling knots and stroking soft locks of hair. “Mother won’t let the storm take us. She will never let anything hurt you”, she assures the two. The tension slowly eases in their muscles. With another kiss pressed to their foreheads, Bela speaks yet again.

“I will never let anything hurt you”, she promises. And it’s a promise Bela knows she will keep. Never will she allow a thing or soul to hurt her precious sisters. Should anything or anybody dare to, she will make them pay bitterly. The two younger siblings relax again at her words, huddling closer to the eldest.

Daniela whimpers at another loud bang. She clings onto her sister’s left side tightly. Bela is so warm, it’s soothing. With her sister’s warm and protective arm around her, how could she possibly freeze to death. No, with Bela’s warm body and blankets surrounding her, Daniela is beginning to feel safe again.

Her face hidden away desperately in the blonde’s neck, hoping to avoid and flee from the loud noises. She smiles at the kiss that is pressed to her forehead and Bela’s hand rubbing her back gently.

Cassandra grits her teeth harshly as to stop herself from whimpering at every bang of the windows when wind slams against them. She stops this when an arm is wrapped around her and a gentle hand sets on top of her head.

Bela gasps when the middle sister’s nails dig in deeper at another loud bang from outside.

The brunette is pressed tightly against her sister’s right side, face aggressively bumping against the right side of Bela’s neck. She too searches for more shelter from the terrifying noise.

Then, as though the answer came to her, Cassandra hears the buzzing noise of her sister’s flies under her warm skin. Thousands of tiny wings flapping about and creating a sound not unlike a heartbeat. She closes her eyes, focusing entirely on this. Bela’s “heartbeat” is even and comforting, neither fast nor hectic, unlike her own. The more she listens to the comforting tune, the more she feels her eyes begin to grow heavy.

The blonde smiles as she feels her sisters’s nails move back out of her skin, instead hooking into her dress to keep them close to her.

“Read”, Cassandra says muffled against Bela’s neck.

“Village”, the youngest pipes in. Her cheek is smudged against Bela’s collarbone, her eyes closed.

The blonde nods with a small smile, although with her sisters’s eyes closed, it makes no difference.

Daniela whines displeased when her sister’s arm is lifted off her back as she reaches for the storybook. A small smile replaces her unhappy frown when the woman resumes her position a mere moment later.

“Long ago-…”, Bela resists the urge to giggle as her sisters squirm the moment she begins to read, turning and fidgeting until they lean comfortably against her. They want to look at the images in the book, she knows.

And so golden eyes set on the pages when Bela keeps reading:

“Long ago, a young girl went with her mother to pick berries for her father, who was hard at work. But the forest greeted them with a cold silence, the bushes empty.”, Bela reads gently.

She smiles at her sister’s fingertips tapping on the page as she reads, tracing the branches of trees and the picture of a girl with her mother.

“Yet determined to find the berries, the rascal broke free from Mother’s grasp and vanished into the trees. Mother’s worried cries faded fast as the girl went on, over vine and under branch, and into the forest deep.”

“Idiot”, Cassandra pipes in.

Daniela shushes her harshly, whining and flashing her infamous golden puppy eyes for Bela to keep reading.

The blonde smiles, her arms wrapping tighter around the two. She pulls them closer and presses another kiss to their forehead, smiling as she feels them sink closer to her. Cassandra’s head lays rested on her neck, Daniela’s cheek is smudged lazily against Bela’s collarbone.

“The girl recalled Mother’s scary bedtime tales and her throat became bony dry.”

“Then the Bat Lord appeared. He greeted her warmly and bit his own wing.”

“That’s Heisenberg”, Cassandra states with a laugh. Bela and Daniela giggle at this. The image of the Bat Lord in the old storybook is a rather silly looking one. “No, it’s Moreau!”, Daniela counters. “It’d have to be way bigger for that!”, Cassandra disagrees.

More giggles of the three women ring out in the quiet chamber. Even as thunder and the wind goes on, their laughter prevails.

Bela keeps reading as they calm down, her voice unwavering. Steady and calm, gentle yet strong.

“Across waters deep and ominous she went, hoping a boat she found would carry her home. But hunger’s grip tightened and her heart grew heavy”, she reads.

Thunder and lightning has long lessened, even the rain no longer paints windows in its transparent glow.

Upon looking down, Bela discovers the youngest fast asleep and snoring quietly. She smiles gently at her as she presses a last kiss for the day against her forehead and adjusts the blankets again, pulling them high enough to ensure her sister’s warmth.

When she looks down to her right, she is met with tired, dark golden eyes staring up at her. “More”, Cassandra whispers, yawning. Bela smiles fondly at the stubborn woman, so eager to hear the end of the story as though it’s the first time she’s heard it.

She pulls the middle sister closer to her and readjusts her blanket too as she keeps reading.

“Then the Fish Lord appeared, and offered one of his many fins. ‘Come child, eat your fill.’, so the girl ate and smiled with joy once more.”

“Moreau”, Cassandra whispers, a tired giggle falling from her lips. Bela giggles at this.

She watches her younger sister’s eyes get heavier and heavier as she brushes her fingertip alongside Cassandra’s nose, from her tip to her forehead. The brunette purrs quietly, smiling tiredly as she rests her head back on her sister’s shoulder.

Bela keeps up the comforting work of her fingertip, tracing Cassandra’s features and smiling softly as it causes the woman to yawn and shift closer to her, golden eyes falling shut even as she insists she isn’t tired and wants to keep listening to Bela read.

“Continuing on she soon entered the forest’s dark heart. Then an iron steed appeared, bearing a beautiful, golden gear”

A quiet, tired giggle is heard when at this, Bela playfully taps the yellow gemstone embedded into Cassandra’s necklace.

Wind hits the window and makes the brunette jump, golden eyes small and tired, but alert. Bela coos gently, her hand cupping Cassandra’s cheek. “I won’t let anything hurt you, Cass. I promise”

Her sister studies her for a moment, then rests her head back on Bela’s shoulder, eyes falling shut as the eldest resumes reading and tracing the woman’s soft face.

“To this day, any child who stares too long into the charred wasteland will be haunted by nightmares of getting lost while picking berries…”

Bela sighs as she closes the book, gently taking Cassandra’s finger from the cover and placing it on the blanket instead.

The woman too snores softly, just as the youngest sister on Bela’s left.

The blonde gently combs the hair out of Cassandra’s face, smiling as she too presses the last kiss for that night against her sister’s forehead. Then, she too closes her eyes, her arms tightening around the two younger women one more time.

The Wheel of Time Ajahs ranking + reasoning. From best to worst. Inspired by a late night conversation I had with my sibling. (Full series spoilers)

1: Brown. They are the best Ajah for 2 reasons, one: they actually do what their Ajah is supposed to do and don’t just fuck around doing politics like roughly 80% of the other Aes Sedai. And two: they are, on average, some of the least insufferable Aes Sedai to talk to. + Verin bias.

2: Blue. They, like the Browns, do also actually do what their Ajah is supposed to do. The unfortunate thing is that what the Blue are supposed to do is basically whatever they want. But they seem generally the most likely to actually help normal people and be invested in making the world better. + Moiraine bias.

3: Grey. They also do their stated job pretty well and consistently. They are the last Ajah until the Red (arguably the white) to do so. tbh the Grey is mostly here because we get so little information on what they’re actually like. But they seem to be doing a pretty good job and not fucking up in any significant way, so they get 3rd.

4: Green. I like the green Ajah. They just don’t really do what they say they do. “The Battle Ajah”? Really? So why aren’t you in the borderlands helping with fighting shadowspawn? Or doing anything actually? Because I thought about it for a while, and I genuinely can’t remember a major thing that the Greens were doing, as a group, before the last battle. But they’re generally pretty cool and when the last battle did actually happen they showed up.

5: White. They’re fine, just the ones we’ve seen seem pretty annoying to talk to. They also are actually philosophers and mathematicians, but from what I can tell they don’t have a ton of contact with philosophers and mathematicians from outside of The Tower. Which is not really good practice if you want to advance those fields. So they fail at their stated job by not actually sharing their work enough. Basically they’re the much less cool and more annoying browns.

6: Yellow. AAAAHHHHH!!!!! The way the Yellows act makes me unspeakably mad. First, they completely disregard traditional medicine, because they can do stuff with the power better. HEY WHAT THE FUCK? The power has limits, especially with healing. Aes Sedai say that constantly throughout the series. But NO. No studying how traditional medicine could teach you more about the body. No seeing if some herbs could help with the recovery from healing. No interest in learning anything new! The most understandable kinda stupid thing they do is that they don’t research new healing weaves out of fear. But the second and worst thing is that they call themselves the healing Ajah, but from what I can tell don’t heal ANYONE who doesn’t come to The Tower or they just happen to heal out in the world. Again, HEY WHAT THE FUCK? There should be HOSPITALS!! At least one small one in every major city. Or at least in a few? I know there’s a problem of them not being able to heal everything, but they could still save a lot of people! Especially if they recruited people who could use normal medicine! But no. They seem to be the worst offenders of sitting on their asses in The Tower just doing politics.

7: Red. Do I really need to explain why Red is the worst? If you’ve read the series you know why I’m doing this. They are literally such a fuck-up of an Ajah that at the time of the series the there hasn’t been an Amyrlin raised from the Red for OVER 1,000 YEARS because the last one was such a disaster. And then when there is a Red raised to Amyrlin during the series she literally causes The Tower to completely fracture and have a little civil war when THE END OF THE WORLD is about to happen. And even though they technically do their job of dealing with men who can channel, they do a really bad job at it (specifically in how they treat the men after gentling, I go into it here). As well as the fact that most red sisters aren’t actually hunting men who can channel. Like 50 of them are at most. That’s 1/4 of the Ajah that’s doing it’s job. Also The Box was the Red Ajah’s idea.

Chilling with my twin brother and now all I can think of is Gaz having a twin sister, or even Price, maybe Nik, but definitely Gaz.

Just whichever one it was still being super close with her. They've been best friends their whole lives despite being very different people. Being able to have silent conversations with each other, totally freaking the others out. Whoever it is getting a random moment of "I need to call my sister" or "hey, I haven't spoken to her in a little while, something tells me I should let her know I miss her and love her and that everything's okay" only for her to tell them that she was having a bad day and really needed it.

If it's Gaz to have a twin sister (which seems the most likely tbh), everyone is a little shocked when one day Gaz is pacing in Price's office in a panic (I see Gaz as being pretty empathetic). Price looks somewhat concerned, but also tired at this point, and Gaz is clearly struggling to get in contact with someone. He's practically in tears by the time his twin sister answers, all confused and sounding sick. He tearfully explains he had what they call a "twin-tuition" moment and thought something was very wrong. She has to assure him that she was indeed sick, but that she's fine and it's just pneumonia, she just went to the doctor and has medication, she's fine. He ends up just having a moment over the phone with her, partly because he was anxious, partly the sleep-deprivation, and another part being homesick (ie mostly missing his sister). That's how they all learn about his twin sister, and then they never hear the end of it from him.

He's always telling them about everything she's doing. How he's so incredibly proud of her; she followed her dreams and became a schoolteacher and is beloved by her students. She's still single, and Gaz is heartbroken for her. He truly sees all the good in his sister, how amazing she is, and he's borderline distraught she doesn't believe anyone could ever love her. He's her number one supporter in everything she does, and she supports him. She may randomly call him in a panic similar to Gaz's earlier one because she somehow knew he got injured during their last mission. She had such a severe panic attack when he was dangling out of the helicopter in that one scene despite having no clue what was happening. She had a feeling it had to do with Kyle, but didn't get a chance to call him until several days later. She tried several times to call him over the span of those days, and both were in tears by the time he was able to answer/call her back.

When they finally meet her, she's clearly his sister (they look like siblings, but no one would ever guess twins). She's a lot shorter, lot more reserved and much more soft spoken. She's not very sarcastic, mostly just an absolute sweetheart. But then, they spend more time together and they're all shocked by how 'mean' she can be to him. They'll bicker and insult each other like there's no tomorrow, but then immediately ask the other what they want for lunch or how is momma doing? Sometimes, Price will get verbal whiplash from listening to their conversations with how back and forth they can be, but there's never any malice, they each seem to know where the limit is without ever having said anything about it.

This is 100% a self-insert, but it's so personal to me, and I just wish to see one of these guys have a good, healthy relationship with a sister, and based on personal experience, having a twin is one of the best ways to have that. Price is like the only other one that I would die if I read something where he had a twin sister, and the idea of Nik having a twin sister is hilarious, but honestly? Gaz with a twin sister makes me want to cry, it's perfect.

Being home and spending time with my twin has made me really emotionally about this whole concept. He's not able to work right now due to health issues and so we're the only ones at home during the day. Him having health issues has made me really emotional (I'm the empath in this duo) so this idea is just brain-rotting me worse

I had written awhile ago about Gaz having a sister because he just seems like the type to have a sister (I don't know how to explain it). Him being a protective brother, willing fight anyone for his sister, very protective when she's dating someone but he's not overbearing about it because he trusts her judgement. Can imagine Soap flirting with her in a joking manner and Gaz almost beats the shit out of him because he knows Soap, he knows this man is a heart breaker and there's no way in hell he's letting him around his sister.

Like, 141 really adores Gaz's sister after things settle and they get to know her. Soap flirts but it's playful and Gaz isn't trying to kill him for it because he knows Soap won't try anything. Gaz's sister actually really gets along with Ghost because she's a teacher and Ghost's reminds her of a troubled kid so she really gets him and they bond quickly. Like, she of course loves Gaz and spends 80% of her time with him while with 141, but she also spends time with Ghost and Gaz doesn't like to be the jealous type but he is jealous watching his sister bond with Ghost. But he also is happy to see Ghost open up to someone and he can see Ghost light up when she walks over to him.

Sorry if is a bit confusing, I'm at a family reunion and there is A LOT of noise, and i have some troubles translating and all that.

Au where the RDA came back years before, when Tuk was some months old and Spider was bearley ten.

But, Spider wasn't kidnapped and he came in awa'tlu with the sully.

So since Tuk was few months old she couldn't come with them, so there it was Neteyam.

So, Spider, Neteyam, Kiri and Lo'ak were going around in the forest.

Lo'ak guiding because he heard some older kids talking about the forest cool places, so he practically dragged his other siblings in.

Then they bumped into the Recoms, I haven't decided if it was Spider as the older one or Neteyam as the more mature one to call Jake and Neytiri.

Anyway someone calls them, and they all barely escape those clones.

Is Jake who save Spider, without even thinking of that he just grab Spider and they all go back to high camp.

"This was too close Neytiri" Jake tells him mate, he is disappointed in his own words.

"You can't ask me this!" She yells, hoping the kids wouldn't hear

Little did she know that three blue kids and a human one were listening outside.

"He returned! And he had our kids under his knife" Jake protested

"This our home! The kids! Tuk just had her first connection" Neytiri tried to continue the discussion.

Only then Neytiri hummed and go to hug him, comforting his mate in the uncomfort.

So they go away, but wait.

"He should come with us" Jake says looking at the human boy

"If they capture him then he could tell everything" Jake says

"Then i kill him, so he doesn't say anything and we are all happy" she says ironically, or maybe not.

"Neytiri!" Jake says back and his mate snort in annoyance

"We only have two ikrans, explain how we can bring 5 kids with only two ikrans" she says

"We can use mine!" Kiri enters, she was obviously listening

Jake and Neytiri look at eachother and he Smile at her meanwhile she snorts again.

Kiri had her ikran, yes, she befriend it. But she wasn't allowed to fly with it until she became of age.

Now she needed to learn how to fly,but since she is Kiri it took her very little of time to learn.

It's a really interesting concept, tbh. Would he and Neytiri bond more in Awa'atlu due to being the ones that fit in the least? I wonder. The other kids start to make friends even if they struggle at first, Jake bonds with Tonowari and the warriors, but Neytiri hates the water and stays in the Mauri with Tuk. But Spider is always there at her side, offering to help and trying to avoid causing problems with his presence in the village. A forced proximity bonding thing, lol.

OR Mo'at can come to provide another ikran. We have yet to explore the Mo'at coming to Awa'atlu with the family concept, and I need it a little bit.

Pedigrees

these guys were sooooo puzzling when I first looked at them. But once you get a feel for them, they aren't too bad. (Then they become a fun puzzle and you feel so smart and smug /pos)

Sometimes they'll include the half-shaded shape, sometimes they won't. On my practice exams they don't so I won't include talking about the half-shaded shapes (which are basically like telling you which ones are carriers, when nothing is half shaded then you have to figure this out yourself.)

Okay so first off, I typically look for sex-linked/autosomal traits. If the affected individuals are usually one sex (male typically) then the trait is sex-linked. If there's siblings and only the males (typically) are affected, then again - sex linked. (I wishhh we could learn biology with intersex people included it wouldd bee soo nicceee)

ALSO ALSO, if the mother is affected, then all of their children are affected - no matter what the trait of the male parent is - then I'd think the trait is passed on through mitochondrial DNA. (mitochondrial DNA is sooo coooool I need to reread those pub med articles. But overall, mitochondrial DNA comes from the female parent only because the male parent contributed only Nuclear DNA, the female parent contributed the cytosol and every organelle in it.)

From there, if neither of the above is true, then it's typically autosomal and either a recessive or dominant trait.

If it's autosomal recessive, then typically it will skip generations/ only some offspring will have it. It's just less likely that the recessive trait will appear, bonus points if there's four siblings and one of them is affected. (Not reallllyyy how it works in the real world since genotypes for each child is independent from the other children... but IDK pedigrees on tests and stuff tend to do this.) Also if none of the parents have it but some children are affected, then one or both of the parents are most likely carriers. (and if you can see the parents of the parents, you can typically find out which one).

Dominant ones just... tend to appear more. They don't usually skip generations, and if neither parent is affected, then the children won't be affected. (You can't be a carrier for a dominant allele under most circumstances... not sure if there's exceptions)

Pedigrees take a bit of getting used to, but they are FUN once you get a feel for them. (Tbh our ap bio class is kind of cursed, we went through a few teachers that all quit. Now I'm the honorary teacher of our class and honestly... I just got a feel for them. Practice I suppose? If you remember how different traits are inherited, then you should be good) Good luck with them!

Fermentation

OKay so not going to lie here.... I usually skipped over fermentation because I thought it would be boring. Once I saw this ask, I looked at it and it's... surprisingly not that bad? (At least to me, I'm insane.)

Okie so basically what happens is

~oxygen~ the most important molecule for us, breathe they say, breath is the language of the soul, our almighty oxygen...

... mops up the waste products at the end of the electron transport chain in oxidative phosphorylation (hydrogens) and turns into water.

But, despite how unromantic that sounds... it's super important. Because without our oxygen janitors, we can't do the electron transport chain. The waste products would build up and we'd probably burst into flames or smth (honestly that is what would happen if our cells tried to metabolize glucose all at once)

So cells that do fermentation decide to forgo the whole electron transport chain, best not deal with it.

So all it has is glycolysis. (I call it the carbon do-see-do, whatever that dance thingy is called. I don't know why.) I'll include a picture here of it

(knowing the names of the intermediate products is probably the hardest part.. I just... don't.)

Basically, add your phosphates to each side, split it in half, add another phosphate (not from ATP this time), Oxidize the heck out of the carbon molecules, then give those electrons to the NAD+, which turn into NADHs (One per half/three carbon molecule.), then you break off your 'caps' of Phosphates and add it to ADPs. ONce you add that extra phosphate, you make the ADPs into ATPs. Four of them total, but because you invested two ATPs, you got two 'new'/net ATPS.

I'll explain a few more concepts because I think I can do better than the textbooks if I do say so myself. (Especially the ones I got for school, mc graw hill ones.... like... ehhhhh it's so weirdly written. The book I read when I was little is called 'the way we work' gorgeous pictures and lots of metaphors, definitely one of the things that got me into biology, and helped me understand it.)

Adenosine triphosphate is basically a kitkat. Lots of energy stored within the last three phosphates on the side. (which slightly repel each other, so there's a lot of pent-up energy stored, which is why it takes all of cellular energy to make these, you have to go against the natural tendencies. The plus is that, like a kit kat, they are easy to break and release a lot of energy)

If you look at biochemistry, signal transduction pathway, transportation across the cell membrane, you use these phosphates (very negatively charged) to power EVERYTHING. Think of using an explosion to power your solar panels so you can make something. Like that. So when you do glycolysis, you're just adding those phosphates onto the ADPs to 'remake the Kitkat'/ put two negatively charged magnets together.

Basically, you're energy harvesting. The electrons hold energy, you take that energy from the glucose to give it to the NADH, your electron carrier.

HOwever, you can't do the electron transport chain. So now what do you do with the energy...

Discard it. You got two ATPs, and without oxygen, that's the best you're going to get. (Compared to around 38 ATPs with oxygen. Helpful little janitor.)

Essentially, you have pyruvate (the 3-carbon molecule you made from splitting glucose in half in glycolysis) and two NADHs that you need to turn back into NAD+ so you can do glycolysis again.

(IDk why I'm using second person now. By 'you' I mean the cell. ANd by the cell I mean I'm personifying, no one really 'wants' anything here. It just... happens.)

To do this, fermenting cells have this little trick, they basically give the electrons back to the pyruvates. Return them from whence they came. (apparently there's a good return policy)

If it's a muscle cell or yogurt or the likes, the NADHs give the energy/elections back to the pyruvate, which turns it into lactic acid.

If it's yeast, the NADHs give the energy/electrons back to one of the intermediate products of glycolysis. (I forget the name). This produces ethanol and CO2

So now you got your NAD+'s back. And you have two ATPs (net, four total). Not the... not the best but it's what you got.

OKAY MOVING PAST THE ANGST!!!

- As a way for him to cope with his anger better, Fazbear Entertainment started to require that he goes to the daycare and hangs out with Sun. Think of it as unofficial "anger management."

- Sun has experience with dealing with emotional kids so it is genuinely good for Monty !!! He gets to participate in arts and crafts and the kids there are excited over him !!!!

- it's funny to think about him looking so oversized when sitting at the arts and crafts tables surrounded by all of the kids

- Initially, Monty REALLY REALLY HATED GOING THERE. AND WAS REALLY MEAN TOWARDS SUN, but Sun still remained nice and friendly because he was eager to befriend Monty nonetheless

- AND THEY DID END UP AS FRIENDS!! In their own time, Sun had opened up to Monty about how he deals with difficult emotions as well. Monty hearing someone else endure something similar to his struggles was eye opening

- Roxy and Monty are so siblings/bffs, they absolutely gossip with eachother and Monty let's Roxy practice makeup on him

- I THINK MONTY AND CHICA WOULD BE SUCH CUTE BFFS.

- Monty's "rivalry" with Freddy is one sided and VERY unserious, Freddy is so friendly with him and Monty gets all grumpy (but he does like Freddy, he just doesn't want to admit it. He's his self proclaimed "enemy")

- I have a headcanon that depending on the animatronic, they're programmed to work better with a certain age group and Monty is more targeted towards older kids and teens

Full house au roommate notes pt 2

Alright, here's the second part to this post. It'll also involve a few random side notes and headcanons and whatnot

As usual, this will contain spoilers for my full house au

Ok so as I said this part is mostly about the kids. There are 7 of them split up into 3 rooms, so they had to be split 2/2/3, with one room having a bunk bed instead of a second single-person bed. They were originally planning to put all the girls together since, y'know, numbers, as well as what I said in the last part about the parents not wanting boys and girls to share rooms*

*I wanted to sort of expand on this for a moment. Personally I think it's silly- and kinda gross tbh- to suggest boys and girls can't share rooms or to assume that something would happen if they did, but it felt like a realistic thing for parents of teens to take issue with in a situation like this, considering their generally heteronormative culture. I know mine would have, lol.

Of course everyone's different about it, but those who didn't think it should matter (Joyce, Karen, Susan) didn't think it was worth arguing with those who did (Hopper, Ted, the Sinclairs). Hopper was particularly against coed rooming, since Mike was part of the equation (he's a little behind lol, mileven is not together in this au; they broke up pretty much right after the events of s4), and the Sinclairs mainly didn't want Lucas rooming with Max. Claudia didn't care either way.

As for the guardians of the "adults" (aside from Nancy & Jon, whose parents I've already talked about), they either don't care, since their kids are grown, or weren't even involved (the Harringtons are left out of the loop and don't know about any of this and I don't know if Argyle even has parents). The Buckleys are pretty chill in general and Wayne has never been one to tell his nephew what to do

However, they decided against this arrangement for Erica's sake, since she doesn't really know the other girls all that well yet, and we ended up with the actual roommate pairings, as follows

Erica, Lucas, and Dustin are roommates, since E & L are siblings, L & D are longtime friends, and E & D have more history than she has with the others (s3). I also intentionally placed these 3 on the same floor as Eddie and Steve, since those two are familiar with and important to the boys and since Steve is the "adult" Erica knows the best. (Dustin may not have an older sibling to share a floor with like Mike Will El and Erica but he does have his dads). Basically it's the Scoops Troop floor, but with Eddie & Lucas instead of Robin

That left Max and El to be roommates, which they were both thrilled about- M told E it would be like having a sleepover every night, and that they should put up a "no boys allowed" sign on their door just to piss the boys off. Protective dad Hopper enthusiastically agreed with this idea and didn't catch his daughter rolling her eyes

I also put Robin & Nancy on the same side as Max & El so they share a bathroom; seemed like that would be preferable to sharing one with the guys (not to be sexist or anything but this way the ladies don't have to deal with piss on the toilet seat or awkward questions about the "feminine hygiene products" in the cabinet. Which reminds me- did anyone ever explain to El wtf a period is??? Bc I highly doubt the Hawkins lab kids had any sort of health education and usually that's something your mom would teach you about. Idk I might address that at some point. But also- if any of the girls are having shark week problems and Robin or Nancy isn't available, they go to Eddie. I haven't decided if he's out to them but either way they know they can count on him for that sort of thing)

And then there's Mike and Will. I'm pretty sure they were always going to room together, regardless of what I had to do with organizing everyone else, because they've been practically inseparable ever since the Byers reunited with the Hawkins crew. Sharing a room is comfortable, familiar, after their years of childhood friendship. And, again, I made sure to place them on the same floor as their siblings; Nancy is diagonal to Mike, and Will is two doors down from Jon and just across the hall from El

I think that's about it for the roommate notes, the next segment might be closer looks/design details of individual rooms. Nobody asked for it but I'm having fun, so. Yeah >:3

He spends a lot of time at the local library because it’s one of the only buildings open late.

He eventually became close with the librarian and the little kids that come there.

He volunteers there and he sometimes reads to little kids.

It’s really cute and all the parents and the people that work at the library adore him because the kids are so comfortable with him.

He often checks in on the Curtis’ (Specifically Darry)

Like he knows they keep the door unlocked but goes in there when he needs a break from Angela and Curly

But he also really likes Darry and his little brothers and heard a bit about them from Dal so he checks in from time to time see how they’re doing

I don’t know much about Tim and his background but i’m pretty sure he also has dead/absent parents so he relates to Darry because he had to grow up too soon to looks after his siblings

So he understands him and checks in without making it obvious.

Ship tier for Murasakibara? :)

Lovers: I have to admit I don't really think about MuraHimu a lot(it should be obvious who is on my mind 99% of the time) however I really like the fact that it's so much more than what it seems. You can take it at surface level and say that Himuro is nice to him and kinda acts like his big bro/mom but it's so much deeper than that?

Like their relationship is great because they are so different. Murasakibara is a player made from talent, its even been confirmed that until high school he was pretty much relying on instinct to play while Himuro is nothing but hard work. Its not just in basketball either but also in academic areas. Himuro resents murasakibara's talent and murasakibara doesn't get why he even cares and even though they are so different they do love each other a lot and that's very cool.(This became very long sorry)

SS+: Because I already talked way too much in the other one I'll keep this one as short as possible. I love how Akashi spoils him so much(giving him snacks he won at the festival, giving him his popsicle so that he doesn't but more etc) but also cares about his health its really cute. Also the scene in last game where mura helps akashi(bokushi) up is very heartwarming and its a very touching parallel to teiko. I think they're very cute.

I shipped it as a joke but I dont think its a joke anymore: Okay yeah at first I shipped MuraMido because lmao but then I started looking into it and now I can actually see it. Despite their differences and how much they bicker(let's be real bickering is its own love language) they are still pretty good friends actually. Midorima lends Murasakibara books quite often according to the psp game and Murasakibara compliments midorima quite a lot there too. When Midorims was complaining about wearing a women's kimono Murasakibara intersects with a "But you looked good in it though" his words not mind. And this was not in a mocking way btw.

Brothers in Spirit: I don't know what I mean by the tier name honestly but it works ig. Kuroko and Murasakibara have very different ideals and also disagree a lot but the love is there. I really do see them as siblings tbh. I can see Mura lying down after practice and Kuroko collapsing on top of him and then they just lay there together until someone(Akashi) tells them to get up.

I read one polyam fic with MuraHimu: Yeah I actually did read a couple of drabbles with MuraHanaHimu and they're all actually very sweet. Still don't know my opinion about this ship though but Im open to it.

They eat together: Honestly MuraKaga just seems so funny to me. Like all these two would do is eat then bicker then eat then bicker then eat again theres a touch if basketball in there somewhere too dont worry. The eating periods are like temporary truces until Murasakibara reaches over and grabs one of Kagami's burgers and then all hell breaks loose. And Himuro is between them trying to keep the peace and failing spectacularly.

I'd say Conquest's plot isn't even in the same league of stupidity as Golden Wildfire's tho, especially in regards to each route's mid-story twist; all the Nohrian royals were convinced Garon could still go back to being the good man he used to be if they kept doing as he said, meaning they wouldn't rebel against him solely on Corrin's say-so, especially when Azura's crystal ball only works for people with Vallite blood or exceptionally powerful magical talent like Leo, meaning Corrin would have had no evidence for their claim that Garon was actually a walking corpse who can never be redeemed and, as such, needed to be taken down, leaving them no choice but to try and get him to sit on the truth-revealing Hoshidan throne in order to get hard evidence for their accusations and convince the Nohrian siblings to turn on their father.

In contrast, Clout's plan (and, therefore, the entire rest of the story in GW) is idiotic and unnecessary on every conceivable level, to a much larger, more obvious and more consistent degree than Azura's plan in Chapter 15 of CQ; not only is allying with someone who's made it abundantly clear that she wants to conquer all of Fódlan, including his own territory, just because he thinks she cares about good PR and isn't going to keep the war going if she loses her initial publically-stated purpose for starting the conflict, stupid, so is thinking that the CoS is solely responsible for every bad thing that has ever happened in Fódlan, along with the notion that killing it's leader will just cause all those issues to disappear overnight and for everyone to be able to sing kumbaya together forever.

And for what it's worth, the CQ twist does have issues of it's own; the crystal ball, even if i defend it in regards to it having enough estabilished limitations to keep it from being of much use for anything other than what Azura used it for, is still a massively convenient asspull that's never brought up before or after the scene it's introduced in (and no, the Birthright scene doesn't count, needing to play through practically the entirety of a completely different route just for basic set-up on an important plot element would still be bad writing, especially when the game never tells you to play the routes in order of BR then CQ), and there should probably have been a few extra scenes at the end of the chapter of Corrin and Azura thinking over other possibilities and realizing that the latter's plan was the only realistic option they had, if only to make their reasoning clearer to the audience in-text instead of forcing them to infer it themselves, but even with those in mind, the combination of the plan in CQ being significantly more justified than in GW and the characters having actual reactions to what happens as a result makes it so CQ's plot is much less nonsensical than GW's, imo.

Well, tbh

Claude's GW stunt, imo, stings more because it's pretty obvious how the world, its characters and even lore are completely neutralised to make GW happen.

Say, in AG, when Dimitri takes the throne from his Uncle, we see and hear about revolts, and AG in general has him think a lot about Faerghus' stability, to make sure his people aren't embroiled in another civil war and can finally start living in peace.

Claudio pisses on the "no king no emperor" Alliance and turns it in a Federation, then sides with the imperialist who legit tried to conquer his land 5 months earlier - and we only hear in a footnote people being pissed but they're either erased in an auxilliary map or unheard of.

AG NPCs are learning to "adapt" and "accept" each others - Duscur with Faerghians, Church peeps with Kingdom peeps, etc. There used to be a conflict - lore wise - a few years ago (Regicide + revenge on Duscur) so there is a tension between Faerghus and Duscur, it's the topic of a few supports, and we see NPCs establish it : it exists.

Well, Almyrans were trying to force the border for funsies last month? Who cares, it's not like we have a Goneril NPC actually wondering why the fuck they are allied witl Almyrans or siding with Nader "I love to bring souvenirs!", one of the most well-known Almyran generals.

Apparently the CoS is so VeRy BaD that it forces people to be racist... but we don't see anyone, of the GW side, being miffed about fighting side by side with Almyrans. The party went to Sreng to arrange a surprise for the Kingdom? Again, no NPC, dialogue, support even suggests that anyone in the Alliance thinks the Srengese are BaD because they're not Fodlanese.

FFS GW bothered with giving us Holst, the leader of the Goneril vanguard and defence against Almyrans who are invading for funsies, but nothing he said is relevant to the conflict he is supposed to play a major part in.

We're left with Clout saying a lot of things that aren't shown on screen - and yet his sycophant allies buy everything and we end up with, well, what the route ends up as.

For the midtwist reveal...

Well, given how Clout (and Supreme Leader, but her plot is a special case) manages to get away with everything without having to work within the confines of Fodlan's foggy lore (just imagine if Dimitri, one day in AG, enrolled Sreng's most famous general in his troops and the Gautiers had nothing to say about that, not even the NPCs) - so him coming up with completely ridiculous plot and reasons/excuses to get rid of the Evil Lizard Lady - isn't more problematic as him calling Nader and his pals to his aid, since no one gives fuck about Almyran raiding Fodlan, why should people give a fuck about killing Rhea today because you had a strawberry jam toast this morning, or because Supreme Leader wants to use a pawn ?

Granted, credit where it is due, I once joked with friends about a NPC I arbitrarly called Padmé, who is, in GW, the only person who thought Clout was going to ally with the Kingdom and is puzzled and questions his choice to ally with the Empire instead.

At least in Conquest, we have the feeling we're playing the same game, with the same stakes, but reversed (in a way!) that the ones presented to us when we're playing BR : each time we invade a country, people call us traitors, we demolish a tribe of shifters and by the end of the story we're left with unfinished solutions - especially not helped by CQ - and Fates in general - being Treehouse'd !

Maybe this is the reason why the premise of Conquest - having Garon sit on the magic throne to reveal he's Gooron being the only thing that can make his children turn against him - felt really wrong to me - even if Treehouse downplayed how horribly fucked up the Nohrian royals were - because of the Camus effect : we have people being loyal/loving someone, despite starting a war and invading a neighbouring nation with all those things war entails, and they will still continue to fight no matter what - but if stars align a certain way and they realise their beloved leader is not the one they initially followed anymore, they will finally fight against him to try and stop the war?

Granted, I'm disgressing a bit here.

CQ ends on a similar story beat as GW - sort of, we have the conqueror of a nation wishing to make peace and sing kumbaya with the people he just invaded for, to those invaded people, no plausible reason, slaughtered key figures of the nations who were just trying to defend their lands and people, while having a puppet ruler (sure sure, Dimitri and Hinoka are rulers that exist in their own right, but can we seriously believe their actions wouldn't be monitored/restreigned by the Empire/Federation or Nohr?) in place.

And yet, unlike Golden Shower, CQ's end is not positive at all, because Azura disappears and... there are still things that moved the plot that aren't adressed at all, it's an ominous ending and Corrin, at least, knows it - especially as they see (iirc?) Azura disappearing!

Golden Shower's ending is as unconclusive as the rest of Nopes' endings - but there's no feeling of dread or anything similar we can get from CQ's ending "maybe the war will stop, or not" yeah sure.

Ultimately, I think the main difference between the two "plot twists" in those routes is, again, how divorced from the lore/world Clout's reasoning is - for his plan to actually make sense, it has to shoot itself in the leg (apparently Rhea BaD bcs people follow her religion and her religion make people marry, or whatever... but then, Judith says no one gives a fuck about her teachings in the Alliance :/) or, and worse imo, drags other characters down (just imagine a second Hinoka telling Takumi that, maybe they should let Garon sit on the throne so that would reduce the number of casualties, or Sakura confirming with Corrin that she will let Ryoma die to defend the capital, but only if that makes less Hoshidan civilians die).

So, in termes of nonsense, I agree, Golden Shower is way more nonsensical - not only because of Clout's ""plot"" twist, but because it bends the rest of the world (characters included!) for it to sort of make sense/be justified - than CQ's plot, even if I have my own grievances about it.

2. I know you mentioned before that you wanted to do like a magic school type of story for Adie which I think is so fucking cool!! Maybe they’ll meet when they enroll whether that’s as children or teens.

3. And for miss Ellie she’s currently a human right? Will she become a werewolf like her siblings when she becomes old enough? And if she does will she be going to that school as well or is it just for spellcasters? And is that the same for Rhys who’s currently a child or is he going to just stay in normal school? I assume Amir is too old to go and he already has a story of his own.

4. This one may be a stretch but I love reading the Sims 4 lore. There’s a character with a similar name to Adelina— Avelina who was Greg’s late wife. We’ve seen Greg fight Amir in that one episode and we know that Greg is miserable because he’s all alone now (lore wise). If they are related we know that Greg and Avelina used to be mooncasters (idk if it’s the same as spellcasters) before they became werewolves. Is there any link here or am I tripping? I mean I know you read the lore too because Lux DeMarco appears in Amir’s story (😉)

I did want to do a magic school type beat but that was a bit before I expanded the lore. Right now (In the next update, I'll touch on it a bit) Nora does NOT want Adie in the Magic realm or any of the sages to know about them. at all. She wants nothing to do with them, the past, her involvement in the war, all of it and honestly, her little magical trigger finger is itching to finish what she started tbh , more on that later.

1000% Ellie will be a werewolf. At this point it's kinda like a family business/rite of passage. Amir is grown grown now 🥹 but Sonny and his bunch will continue to hold down their ranch and keep vampires in check. But they actually play a pretty big part in what's to come and when my Briar legacy and Fallen Angel series meet, we will see ALOT of them.

The only link werewolves has is that they are descendants of Mooncasters and once upon a time they lived in the Magic Realm with all the occult before the Spellcasters got all high and mighty. Now werewolves just do their own thing and fight vampires. But I really don't see them having much involvement with Spellcaster drama other than possibly whooping vamp ass when needed.
