Playing Stardew Valley
One of my favorite games of all time. More headcanons, this time on what it's like to play SDV with the majority of the main cast. I think these can be read as platonic or romantic too. The only real mention of a romantic relationship is in Gaz' section, but even then it's just a "if you're in this scenario then that happens". SFW and gender neutral, obviously. The characters are the ones I usually write about, so no Makarov, for example.
Price: To no one’s surprise he’s not actually much of a gamer, at all. If the choice was up to him then the two of you would likely be spending your days somewhere outside. However, it’s not too hard to convince him to play with you on stormy days. The game is relaxing, it’s nice, he won’t have to worry about gunshots for once. Despite maybe having heard of it before and nothing else, he’d come to like it after some time. Most of his time is spent on the farm and in town, it takes him some time to find the mines. Loves getting to pat the animals, watering the crops and making the farm look nice. He makes sure that everything is going well so you can go hunt monsters in the mines or mine ore there. He doesn’t go overboard with the money either, so as long as you don’t constantly buy expensive things you’ll always have a good chunk of money.
Gaz: His name is Kyle, it’s in his blood to be a gamer. But Stardew Valley isn’t what he usually goes for in his spare time. However, as long as you’re playing it together you can be sure he’s gonna say yes. Despite being pretty good with money normally, he loses count of how much he has in game and sometimes wants to buy things he can’t afford anymore. But he always promises you that you’re gonna get it back. Gaz is also the kind to bring you all sorts of gifts, regardless of whether you asked him to or not. If you’re dating he’ll call it him “trying to gain relationship points”. His end goal is to marry you, in that case. Despite being resourceful he sometimes forgets to water your crops and pat the animals when he’s in a hurry with a quest. If you don’t take care of it, then you can be sure your crops will wither from time to time. Doesn’t mean for that to happen and will buy new seeds. It’s a vicious cycle.
Ghost: Rolls his eyes and asks you why when you bring up the idea of playing with him. He’s got better things to do, actually, but he can be convinced to play if you annoy him enough. Afterwards he’ll come to enjoy the game, it is a great source of escapism, after all. Unlike Gaz, he will never forget about your crops or your animals and will always take care of them. Even money-wise it will be you who spends most of it. His favorite activity would be foraging. He knows quite a bit about survival and, if you ask him about it, he’s more than happy to divulge some information and give you some tips if it ever came down to it. Every time he sees your character running up to him with some gift he’ll roll his eyes, but appreciate it nevertheless. It wasn’t often that he got presents when he was younger, so now as an adult he’s quite happy, even if it’s just within a silly game.
Soap: Will probably laugh a little when you bring up the game, but is willing to play it with you. It’s not the most exciting game to play to him, but he gets to chat with you over something easy to digest that doesn’t require him to make a million decisions per minute. However, please let him name the animals, he loves doing so. Yes, they will end up with silly names, but he just tries to get you to laugh. Soap does get attached to them, though. Loves being in the mines and slaying the monsters there, he gets to feel powerful as he cuts through slime and mine some ore. Every once in a while he’ll fall unconscious, though, because he forgets about the stamina bar. During those few seconds of loading screens he loves to annoy you. Or when he’s already in bed for once and waiting for you to do the same. Poking you, throwing popcorn at you or something else, he can be a nincompoop in the most loving way possible.
Alejandro: Because he has such a high rank, there’s a chance you won’t get to see him that often. And during those few and short times you do get to see each other? He’s more than happy to indulge you in anything you like. You wanna play a funny farming sim? Of course you can! He loves it because of the setting. A pretty rounded guy, he does just about anything, except maybe fishing. He’s not a big fan of that minigame at all. Everything else is fair game. Once you have the kitchen unlocked he’s more than happy to make you a home-cooked meal every morning so you won’t run out of stamina on your adventures. The game makes him very happy, so much even that he’ll make the suggestion you play together eventually. It’s his mission to pet the animals every day. Please let him discover giant crops, he’ll love it and try to get as many as possible. Gets very into the game and its domesticity, but he’ll leave the decoration of the farm and the house to you.
Rodolfo: He’s a bit skeptical at first since he isn’t much of a gamer and the game sounds somewhat boring to him. The first few days actually are to him, but once he’s gotten the hang of it, he loves the game. Every day, he hopes you’ll ask him to play it with you. Heck, if he has the time, chances are he’ll invite Alejandro to play it with you two as well. Another all-rounder, he does everything he is asked to do, except he loves the fishing minigame. He’s also insanely good at it, the legendary fish got nothing on him. While he does simply follow you around for the most part, especially if you’re in the mines together, he has a good time doing so. Plenty of gifts from either of you for the other, you try to make sure the other feels appreciated. For the most part, he forgets that you can eat to replenish your stamina and will sometimes complain about it running out so quickly, until he discovers he can simply lie down in bed. His favorite activity is fishing with you while you’re talking about anything and everything. Loves playing into the night with you if neither of you have anywhere to be.
Valeria: Scoffs at you when you bring it up. However, once you’ve bought her the game she’ll at the very least give it a try. It’s surprisingly nice to her. Valeria can be a bit competitive, however, so don’t be surprised if she mentions how much money you suddenly have. On those few days she actually has some downtime for once, she’s willing to play it with you. Be warned, though: She has looked up guides on how to be successful in the game and make lots and lots of money. She may be a businesswoman, but she does try to purchase all the upgrades she can for you. Yes, she calls you out on using a lot of money, yes, she’ll also wring out every piece of gold she can find to get you that lovely little couch you want. Go ahead and make her some food every once in a while. It may just be a game, but she’ll remember that gesture. Do that regularly enough and she’ll just take you out to eat at a fancy restaurant, with her paying, of course. If she finds out about giant crops on her own without guides, she’ll simply stare at the cauliflower for a good two minutes before laughing a bit. For some reason, she finds it funny.
Graves: Has heard about the game, refuses to play it because he deems it childish and boring. Tries to dislike it and complain about it while playing with you, but once he sees how much you enjoy it and how much heart and soul has actually been poured into it, he’ll seem neutral, but likes it in secrecy. Like Valeria, he tries to make as much money as possible to show off how competent and good he is at the farming game. While he tries his best to get as much iridium ore as possible, the thought of cleaning up his farm doesn’t cross his mind even once. The animals get to roam freely, the crops will usually be fine, though. He loves having lots of silos, coops and barns because it seems home-y to him. He’s from the south, he grew up with animals and thus loves them, which is why he also enjoys having as many cows as possible. The fact that they look cute is just an added bonus. While playing, his cocky demeanor disappears a bit and he becomes more smiley as well. Point it out to him and he’ll outright deny it. He likes the game, but he’d rather be put in the electric chair than say that out loud.
Alex: The game seems fine to him, a lovely little break from having to worry about getting shot at any moment. He’s more than happy to play it with you and needs no convincing whatsoever, you just need to tell him what the game is about. He immediately falls in love with it and the very first thing he does is try to get a chicken coop. He saw them and knew he needed ten. The joy he felt when he found out he could name his chicken things like “Sweetie” or “Honey” was something else. He gets creative with those cute names too, especially if you like them as well. He’s a bit lost on what to do at first since he usually carries out orders others give him, but if you tell him to explore the map he’ll report back on his finds with excitement. He’s also fairly keen on befriending the townsfolk and tells you about all the events. Another thing he’s rather attentive to is the soundtrack. Once he’s heard the fall themes he’ll listen to the OST when doing the dishes or cleaning. Unlike Graves, Alex will outright tell you how happy he is that he gets to play the game with you. He loves it and he’s glad he gets to spend this time with you, doing simple farming chores.
Farah: For the sake of this we’ll pretend she’ll actually have the time to play the game with you every once in a while. It’s calming, it’s distracting, it’s escapism in its purest form. Farah needs fairly little convincing to play the game, especially if you bought it for her. It’s worth a try in her eyes, if she doesn’t enjoy it she can just tell you. It’s a bit weird to her at first, she’s so used to there being death and destruction all around her pretty much all the time, she’s just waiting for something to happen. But when you assure her that the worst thing in the game is the dragon enemy, she relaxes. Even while playing she tries to be efficient. Someone needs to tend to the crops, the animals and the townsfolk while the other goes foraging, fighting monsters and mining. I think she would enjoy the forest farm the most. Urzikstan doesn’t have the most flora, so it’s a nice change of scenery for her. The more she plays, the more she relaxes, but she does give you orders from time to time. As mentioned before, she likes spending time with the townsfolk and helping them out when they need it. The community center is finished within the first year as quickly as possible and the following cutscene warms her heart. Needless to say, she likes the game and likes playing it with you.
Laswell: Some convincing is needed in her case, but once you tell her about how it’s your favorite game, regardless of whether it’s true or not, she’ll cave in. While she has heard about the game every once in a while, she didn’t think she’d ever play it. Despite knowing nothing about it other than its premise, she’s actually pretty good at it from the get go. She always keeps an eye on her stamina, she always takes some food with her, and she gains money fairly quickly as well. Other than that she’s also fairly lucky, finding diamonds and prismatic shards comparatively easily. Despite getting the hang of the game quickly, she cannot do the fishing minigame to save her life and will openly complain about it. While you’re working on the community center she’ll leave all the fishing up to you. But other than that she loves the soundtrack as well. She won’t listen to it outside of the game, but if she ever hears any of the songs she’s immediately reminded of your small gaming sessions together and smiles. Laswell also found the giant Junimo plushie in the bushes on accident in spring of her first year without consulting any guide and to this day you don’t know how.
Nikolai: He knows about the game, plenty of people he knows play it, but it was never something he was interested in. Then you came and asked him to play it with you, and who was he to deny you such an innocent request? He may not be a gamer, but he’s confident enough in his abilities to suggest you two choose the monster farm. A lot of his time is spent slaying enough monsters to get all the rewards, that’s his goal. While he doesn’t do a lot of farming, he barely even buys any seeds unless he has to or you ask him to, he’s always somewhere on the map, exploring and foraging. His pockets are usually filled to the brim with stones, ores, gems and monster loot. His favorite challenge is getting to floor 100 in the Skull Cavern. He knows about the staircases, but he doesn’t use more than 10 of them. He can be a show off, he wants you to know that, despite not being the youngest anymore, he’s still very capable. Your animals bear Russian names. No Cyrillic used, just the way the words are spelt in Latin letters. If you don’t know any Russian, then he won’t tell you what the names mean. If you do know Russian then you’ll find that the chicken is simply named “chicken”.

Hi! I was wondering if you could write how the SDV and SDVE bachelors would react if they got cheated on by the farmer.
Did someone say drama and angst??? 😀 Absolutely! Hope you like it, anon. Enjoy ❤️
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Stardew Valley:
Sam:
Sam can't believe his eyes. After he caught Farmer with another, they approached him like nothing happened? Hell no, baby, that's not going to work. He will not allow someone treat him like that. Sam is not a puppet or just a pretty face. This will end once and for all.
Harvey:
Harvey was speechless. First from shock, and then from tears coming from the eyes. He became so ill that he ran home to the clinic for a sedative. After the incident, he will immerse himself in his work, trying to forget all this pain at least for a while.
Sebastian:
The Farmer will not receive tantrums or drama from Sebastian. Only a vicious and cold look, from which goosebumps will go on the skin. Later, Sebastian locks himself in his basement and immerses himself in the computer or music, ignoring his worried mother.
Alex:
Well, well, well... And what do we have here? The person he thought was his true love turned out to be an empty candy-coated wrapper. No, no need to explain anything to him. He doesn't even want to look at them. And he won't shed a single tear for the Farmer. They are not worth it.
Elliott:
Wh- what? How could they?! He thought everything was serious! All these dates, sweet words and promises... were they fake? Oh, he will throw out everything that has accumulated in his already broken heart. No, he doesn't want to listen to any excuses! Elliott was still shaking for several days from anger and sadness.
Shane:
And why isn't he surprised? As he thought, his instinct did not fail, and all these "love games" were a fucking joke. And he fell for it. Like the ultimate idiot. Live and learn, apparently. Never again he will trust people...
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Stardew Valley Expanded:
Victor:
Why? What did Victor do wrong? Something happened? He doesn't understand... What are they for? Farmer, why didn't you just say they weren't meant to be together? Why did Victor have to find out the truth like that?! Tears will not flow from his eyes in front of anyone (especially not in front of the Farmer) until he closes himself in his room and weeps silently.
Lance:
Disappointed. He's not even that angry, just... disappointed. "You know, if you thought I wasn't the one you want to spend your life with, then we could discuss as adults. What was all the lies about?" Lance doesn't want to waste his time on this drama. Although he sincerely believed that they were the very ones ...
Magnus:
Looks like Lady Love really cursed him. When your heart is broken for the third time... that's it. Magnus immersed himself in the study of magic and brewing potions in order to somehow cope with the pain. He will not receive the Farmer in his tower for at least a week, and after that all conversations will be purely business.

Retirement home anon again: I’d like to get your opinion on this (if you have one), it’s gonna be long sorry 💀
I bought Story of Seasons: A wonderful Life for the Nintendo switch which is a remake of the 2003 harvest moon a wonderful life.
I’ve bought other harvest moon/story of seasons games for the switch as well and honestly… I’m disappointed.
The character design lacks, they all look so dead and emotionless I don’t know how to explain it. The whole world looks like it’s straight out of Cocomelon. You also start with a gifted Cow and other things, that you’d normally not get in the originals and tbh it feels like they stripped all life away in all the newer versions, made it way easier in the beginning and tried to up the cuteness to a maximum which resulted in it looking like a kids show. The dialogs also turned so soft imo.
In harvest moon ds you straight up start with the mayor of mineral town insulting you and then the character (you) proceeding to try to kill him/punch him with an axe, a hammer, a scythe, even a watering can and in the end your dog bites him in the ass in a blackout screen.
It’s like how they took the sass out of the animal crossing characters with time and it just makes me sad. The new versions of the characters feel like lifeless copies :/
I‘m still hoping for more remakes and I’m still a big fan of the harvest moon/story of seasons franchise. But fields of Mistria honestly gave me the exact feeling I had when I got harvest moon ds on Christmas as a kid and started it up for the first time. I literally had a bit of a teary eye playing the demo and then the EA version of FoM 🥺
That’s also why I like FoM so much - it’s funny, it has innuendos, it’s made for adults/older teens despite it being cutely designed, the characters look and feel like they’re adults as well.
I‘m not trying to be mean to the newer games and I understand people enjoy playing them, hell I still buy them because I love the series, but they leave me hanging. ://
YESSSS I get it OMG it's so boring I have about 100 hours in PoOT (pioneers of olive town) and although I controversially found Harvest Moon One World better than Olive Town (I loved the open world concept and Jamil in particular), it was still kinda boring compared Stardew Valley which I bought as my first game for my switch back in 2019.
That day, I played SDV until 4 am, it was summer break and I just graduated highschool and it was magical playing SDV for the first time, I could barely put the game down for long enough to take care of myself lol.
And I get that exact same feeling again playing FoM, that kind of magical feeling where you're completly transported into a new world. I don't think ConcernedApe made SDV with children as a primary audience in mind, if he did he probably wouldn't have added depressed alocholic in there and I love it, I love a good story and good characters, inperfect characters with flaws, they feel way more real and more likable than the boring nice, polite ones we were getting in newer HM/SoS games. All I remember from PoOT is how claustrophobic the town feels, and how hard it was to decide who to marry because none of them was interesting enough, even Damon, the edgy biker boy, felt like he was taken straight from the Disney Channel. I want characters that I can call bastards, I want mean characters, they're the funniest to learn to love.
As for making the games way too easy, I'm not sure, I just remeber struggeling in older games but mostly because I was a child when I played them. I'm pretty sure you also could get a free cow in Animal Parade and in the tale of two towns but I could very well be wrong.
I'm not gonna lie, I never played Harvest Moon DS but that sounds hilarious, we need more of that back, and less Ned Flenders neighbors. That's another reason why I love SDV so much, Pam and Shane are so mean to the player at first (hell even Sebastian is kinda cold) but that's what makes them more compelling characters than the cast of PoOT, where frankly only the non-marriagable characters were interesting.
I think that's why I'm so obsessed with FoM right now, while yes the characters are so so nice, they're not boring and I don't even remember them by their niceness, Hayden is a super polite farmer, but I'd say his distinct traits are loud, open and so very passionate wbout farming, even his dialogue about being a good neighbor and lending you sugar is so much more memorable because he's so forward about it. I feel like most characters in this game can be described with a positive and a negative trait, which is what newer HM/SOS games lack, the balance between baby boy baby and bastard. And the dialogue in general is soooo good, I don't feel like I'm being talk down to, it feels like a normal conversation between adults, not between a child and their caretaker.
Laslty, thank god (NPC Studio) for the older characters, I feel like farming game fans are not in their teens (13-15) and more like in their twenties and up. We don't want to romace teens, we want something that doesn't feel illegal lol.
I totally agree anon, I love FoM so far and it has also made me super emotional playing this game. Ugh I can't wait for more content, I need to fall for this game harder.

Sdv Bachelor/ettes as the Hatchetfield Universe Characters
A/N:STARKID STARKID STARKID I LOVE SO MUCH also another shitpost? in this economy? More likely than you think. I wanted to do ALL Starkid characters but I think that’s too many options and I will be here for fifty years. Also this is a gift because I started work today and will probably not post anything for a hot minute
A/N pt 2: HAHAHA I STARTED WRITING THIS MY FIRST WEEK AND IMMEDIATELY GOT SICK SO IVE BEEN OUT OF WORK FOR A WEEK
Tw: maybe some spoilers for both the game and the musicals, cursing, mentions of abuse, murder, and some other stuff
Wc: idk it’s headcanons bb it’s gonna be at least 3 points though
Sdv Masterlist
Sebastian
Ethan Green(Black Friday)
Resident emo/badboy duo
I do think that as a teenager he would run away with someone that he thinks that he’s in love with to give them a better life even if he’s mistaken about how hard it is
Like he just seems like that type of guy
Like he would be the “yeah babe your family sucks let’s get out of here and be on our own” type of guy
I also think that he would be sweet to his partners younger sibling like just because he doesn’t get along with his own doesn’t mean that he hates kids or anything.
Also smokers lmao
Just really fits the vibe of Ethan very well
Guy that looks tough and bad boy-ish on the outside to in reality just be sweet and caring
I could also see Seb in the Ethan outfit :)
Sam
Kyle Clauger (Nerdy Prudes Must Die)
While I don’t think Sam is a bully really
I do think that as a teenager he would just go along with what his friends say because he is a sweet boy that just wants to fit in
Doesn’t wanna bully anyone at all just wants to be happy
Is popular but also not the most popular because he’s a golden retriever and isn’t really chasing popularity
Like yeah he wants to fit in but that doesn’t mean he cares about popularity really he just wants to be liked he doesn’t really care if he’s known or not
Kyle is really just a background character and we don’t really see him unless it’s like specific scenes with Max or like the aftermath.
So we don’t really know a lot other than he never really wanted to bully people but wanted to fit in with Max even to the point to where he doesn’t date anyone max tells him he can’t.
I do think that Sam would choose his friends over a significant other unless he actually genuinely loved them so I think he kinda fits this jock that’s not really mean but isn’t really helpful vibe
I would’ve chosen Ethan for Sam but Sam isn’t really a bad boy on the outside if I’m being honest.
Shane
Paul Matthews (The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals)
Mostly because I think it would be funny if he screamed at the top of his lungs for coffee
Also I think he wouldn’t enjoy watching a musical he hates the fact that everyone in them are either so happy or that they’re singing every five seconds
“PLEASE GOD NO”
Would also be horrified at “What do you want Paul”
I would’ve probably chosen Paul for Harvey because of his love for coffee but I don’t think he would be this unhappy about everything
Imagine trying to get him to sign ANYTHING while he’s walking to Joja he will not
Paul is much nicer than Shane at first glance but at the same time I feel like Shane could embody him well.
Like Shane can be Paul but Paul could never be Shane.
Alex
Max Jägerman (Nerdy Prudes Must Die)
Again I don’t really see him as a bully
But I do think he could’ve been one in high school
Like Sam I think Alex just wants to fit in and be cool (especially because of his life) so as a teenager I could see him being an absolute asshole as a teen
Maybe not to Max’s level but like out of everyone I think he fits Max the most
In the whole star quarterback and liked by the cool pretty girls.
The reason they win their games
Also in the whole no one really understands them
Like I know Max is horrible he’s a LITERAL MONSTER
But like when the main characters try to bully him he literally is like “this is the nicest thing anyone has done for me”
Like yeah he’s a bully and we can see that and they didn’t really flesh out that plot line it seemed like Max didn’t really have people in his life that genuinely cared about him to set anything up for him or do things for him other than be yes men which isn’t really caring at all
I feel like Alex would be similar in that he doesn’t really have friends (Haley doesn’t really count for me because I feel like she’s using him as means to an end. As if she sees him as who she’s supposed to end up with because of their looks instead of actually caring for him)
Only people who either tell him what he wants to hear without truly caring or understanding (except for his grandparents)
Alex too would be happy if someone decided to go through the trouble of making an elaborate prank for him.
Harvey
Becky Barnes(Black Friday)
Him and Maru were the most difficult for me but ultimately I settled on him being Becky
Mostly because he’s a doctor and I’m pretty sure she’s a nurse
But also because I also think Harvey is brave enough to go through an abusive relationship and come out of it still wanting to help the world
Also because I also think he would kill an abusive asshole bc he’s hot like that
I think they would have the same values like everyone matters and just because you have money or a greater status doesn’t mean you can take advantage of people or act like an asshole
I also think it would take an ancient god to make him become a man without morals
Elliott
Professor Hidgens (The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals)
CAN YOU SEE THIS LIKE I DO
Both are men of the arts and it’s funny
Also writing and music are very similar/ writing a musical is literally just writing a story and adding music to it so when I say it’s similar I mean it’s SIMILAR
I could see Elliott going insane and holding people hostage like “DO YOU WANNA READ MY NEW STORY?? PLEASE READ IT AND GIVE ME FEEDBACK PLEASE!!!!”
I could literally see Elliott taking this role and killing it
Like it’s not a lot to say because I think it’s very obvious
Also they both have that air of like…..pretentiousness?
Not in a bad way at all it just like…..they seem to give off the aura of having money
I think I feel like this because it’s like they have the freedom to write and go into the arts even though Hidgens is a professor I believe
It’s just they give off the air of feeling or being better than you but not in a way that is like their doing maybe
Idk if y’all can understand what I’m trying to say? Like they don’t act like they’re better than you it’s just their vibes
Abigail
Stephanie Lauter(Nerdy Prudes Must Die)
I wanted her to be “Latte Hottie” from TGWDLM(I forgot her name for now ignore it) but she doesn’t really give those vibes when you think about it
I feel like Steph and Abigail are VERY similar
They both seem like in school they’re cool but in different ways but they both have similar vibes
I think Stephanie is more grunge or skater(forgive me I don’t know clothing genres)
And Abby is more gothic but like I think they’re v similar
Like they aren’t in charge but people know them and even if they dislike them no one is fucking with them at all
Also the way their fathers are
I feel like Pierre would be VERY similar to Steph’s father
Like claims they love their child but beat them down with their words
Like imagine if Pierre was running for Mayor or something like
You already know he would be the biggest asshole
Would also fall in love with a person she doesn’t really match with on outer appearance on first look
Haley
Emma Perkins (The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals)
I think it would be funny to put Haley in this role
Like they’re both bitches but are funny/attractive to the point where it’s fine
And it’s a bitchiness that isn’t from meanness it’s literally just them being blunt
Like there is no lie about what they’re saying it’s just a rude thing to say lmao
Would be annoyed if she was working and was forced to sing for every tip
Would curse and be sarcastic to annoying people without caring and somehow manages to not be fired
Only difference is that I think that Haley wouldn’t half ass ‘Cup of Roasted Coffee’ because I thinks she wants to look good
Would tell Professor Hidgens to fuck off that she doesn’t want to hear about his musical
Emily
Hannah Foster(Black Friday)
I think in my mind(I have not watched Black Friday since the first time I saw it and it’s been a while) that Hannah knew more than the others
Like I remember while watching it that they didn’t take her as serious as they acted more like they listened to her in a “yeah okay grandpa take your meds” kind of way
When in reality she was connected and seeing things that they wouldn’t be able to understand
I think Emily is similar or fits the vibe where she understands things in a different way than the others
And they just see it as her being weird when in reality she’s just connected to the world in a deeper way.
Even though Emily is the older sibling I think she just fits this role where she could feel what is going to happen from the beginning
Leah
Lex Foster(Black Friday)
I know this looks like I ship her and Seb but I don’t
Her moms a bitch, an alcoholic
Jkjk (that’s penny)
BUT!!! I think Leah fits the whole “run away to escape my problems and follow my dreams” sort of thing
Like she literally broke off an engagement(or relationship at least) and left everything behind to move to a town in the middle of nowhere in order to follow her dreams
Literally just wants the best for herself and if she had a sibling I think she would want the best too
I also think she’s a dreamer. Like you don’t run off to become an artist without having big dreams and aspirations.
Penny
Grace Chasity(Nerdy Prudes Must Die)
Argue with a wall I’m right
I see her as like a goody two shoes that puts her beliefs above anything and really wants to make her family proud
Like I could see her being deeply religious
And honestly if Pam wasn’t an alcoholic and her father was still around I think they would be similar to the chastity’s just not as bad
Like obviously holding someone’s books isn’t equivalent to sex or whatever they believe but I do think they would’ve raised her to be a good Christian gal that should wait until marriage
Also because Penny sticks around for her mother and to teach the kids gives me those vibes
Would also go crazy like absolutely bonkers this woman is
Maru
Ruth Fleming(Nerdy Prudes Must Die)
Mostly because I think it’s funny
And because I couldn’t figure out who she would be so she gets to be Ruth
Also I think they’re both socially awkward
Ruth is just an awkward person
And I think that Maru is just socially unaware
Also I think that Maru would be the friend that’s like “can y’all set me up with someone?”
And everyone would be like “lmao no”
JUST FOR ONCEEEEEEEE
also Maru probably never fucks because Demetrius is always on her ass
Ruth never fucks bc she’s unfuckable
Honestly the same thing no one wants to have sex with the girl who’s dad will barge in without announcement or care
Like he legit wanted to catch her in the act to yell
Like why would you walk in if you think she’s getting railed and not like slam your fists on the door if you wanna stop them
N e ways
They’re the same bc they’re nerds <3

Also, please look up Burgess from my time at sandrock, he's my fucking boyfriend. He's tall, round and sweet as can be with his little freckles. I love him so much. Who is your fav in coral island so far?
i've not played my time at sandrock but i have heard of it! i'm not really into deserts, so i never really felt a draw to play it honestly dlskdfg my time at portia has more appeal to me!!
Tumblr media
OMG HES SO YELLOW .. I LOVE HOW RED HIS NOSE IS AND THE FRECKLES.. he's so cute........ i had no idea the game had such cute character design.... i see the appeal...........................
in terms of MY FAVOURITES...!!!!!!! i'm only gonna pick romance options because this game has so many characters. EXCEPT ONE there's a standout npc.. anyone who knows me well will know who that is.. alphabetical order except for the npc
charles - i really love town doctors in these games and i love gingers and freckles and he gives me harvey sdv vibes but hes a lil less strict and a lil more hypocritical and i really enjoy that. he literally wont take his hayfever pills but constantly sneezes from it!!! he's so stupid and smart at the same time <3
kenny - kenny has literally made me tear up. he's my highest heart and his dialogue gets so whimsical and beautiful.. bro sees poetry in the wind and the call of birds. he is so in love with nature and the world but not enough to stand in the rain and get soaked <3 he's really sweet and his best friend is a cow called bessie i mean cmon
noah - noah is adorable and i love his relationship with his family... i especially love how close he is with his mother betty and i really want to be a better farmer to make his life easier.. when he asks me to grab some flowers to help him out even a lil bit i will bring him 50 bouquets
rafael - he's so cute and passive and gentle.. gentle giant trope.. i love his rolling eyes face when he complains and i love that he says magic stuff isnt real but he would like if it was because it would be cool... i love that he likes horror movies and hes so gentle with his niece and respectful of suki's parenting and and and... HES SOOO BABYYYYYYYYY
raj - they/them rep ofc i'm into it... i haven't gotten far with raj yet but i got that one dialogue where they tell you their full name and you can compliment it and if you do the BLUSH EXPRESSION... i really wanna get to know raj better....... i would also like to supply ur coffee beans raj can we discuss this
scott - my partner calls scott a grave robber and he robbed my heart yeah <3 scott is the enemy (white man who works for a museum and wants to display artefacts from other cultures) but scott is also flirt at 1 hearts and has multiple story cutscenes all about him so you get to know him and spend time with him faster than anyone and its like he's purposely trying to entice me. bro called me dear, lovely, asks if i've noticed he's been lifting weights, CHARLES SAYS HE HAS TO REMIND SCOTT TO EAT, SLEEP AND SHOWER.... idk man he's a fucking mess and i really need him
surya - SURYA IS SO CUTE AND I LOVE THE DYNAMIC OF BEING THE TWO NEWEST IN TOWN... i love the ocean stuff so i'm naturally drawn to him and his science and mission on the island.. when u gift him a liked item bro can't even look u in the eye he's blushing up a storm like BRO IS INTO YOU... his lil tv event was so cute and my mind is full of surya being too shy to act on his feelings.. ahhhhh..........
AND LASTLY THE NPC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
betty - EVERY SINGLE GAME LIKE THIS I FALL IN LOVE WITH THE LIL OLD LADY!!!!!!!! she spends all her time refilling bird feeders!! she likes to educate the kids on the coral reefs!!!!! she loves to go on walks and stretch lightly with noah!!!!!! she bakes!!!!! she is so patient and kind with everyone!! BUT SHES THE LOUDEST AND ANGRIEST WHEN PUFFERFISH MOVES IN!!!!!!!!! GET EM MUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! see i'm never into having kids in these games but the thought of marrying noah and having children to give betty some grandkids... man man man !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if there's like some junimo equivalent in this game (don't spoil if there is plsy) they will be ultimate favourites as well ^_^
there are some romance options i do like but i don't know well enough or haven't been drawn in enough to like them a lot and i'll list them here quickly
alice
ben
eva
luke
mark
pablo
suki
i do like the look of nina but i haven't met her yet.. and denali is <3 but i also haven't really met the merfolk yet only the first meeting!! honestly i do think they're all cute.. and i might be surprised like how most people hate haley but her romance is one of the ultimates in sdv.... like i've gotten two events with luke now and he's quickly racing up to favourites but not quite there yet.... who knows......!!!!!!!!!!

Prev | Next
It’s finally the day of the Stardew Valley Fair. I’ve got a few ears of raw corn, a tray of corn bread, and a basketful of those forageables I gathered with Leah, all ready to be presented.
This is gonna go sooo badly.
It’s okay though. I’ve got this. I’ve totally got this!
My reputation as a city girl-turned-farmer is definitely not at stake.
Nobody will criticize my efforts.
No one will point and laugh and mistake me for the clown Lewis allegedly hired to perform.
Not even myself. Nope!
No way.
Not lying to myself at all.
(Yes I am.)
Aaand if my grange does earn the worst possible score, at least I get to see the neat stuff Robin, Leah, Clint and Emily made for the crafting category. Plus, Lady Welwick will be there, and so will a bunch of carnies with games, and there will be yummy food, which could all be a fun distraction.
I got up bright and early to make sure I’ll have everything ready to go, and so I can get there ahead of time to decorate my grange a bit. Maybe the added pizzazz will woo Lewis during his scoring. I shake my hands and head to fidget out my nerves and hype myself up.
Trying to really encapsulate the farmer ~look,~ I toss on a deep red jumper beneath my brown denim overalls. I farm in these a lot more than I wear them out these days, so they’ve got some wear to them. Proof that I am A Farmer!! Then, I braid my hair into twintails and wear the cute hat I won at the Egg Festival on top.
When I arrive in town, it turns out I’m not the only one who had the idea to get here early. Marnie is decorating her own display – it’s right next to the one I’ve been assigned – and Shane’s tending to a pen full of animals next to the saloon. Further down the town square, Clint is polishing a bunch of weapons. While this is going on, tents are still being set up, and Lewis seems busy supervising that.
“Nice to see you here so early!” Marnie greets me, a warm grin on her face.
I smile back, grunting as I plop down my baskets and bins on the ground in front of my grange. “I don’t have much, so I wanted this to at least look nice.” I stand up straight, a tray of cornbread and some faux flowers in hand.
“Your first harvest was lovely,” she reassures me while I plop the cornbread dead-center into the display, “I’m sure you’ll do wonderfully today.”
Marnie places a comforting hand on my shoulder, and as I place some flowers around the cornbread, I briefly lean my cheek down to her hand. “Thanks, I hope so.”
Aside from the noises of us participants working and the carnies talking further away, the air is quiet. There’s barely a breeze today, and because of the chilly autumn air, not many critters are chirping. Every here and there, I merely hear a bunny or something scurrying around behind the buildings nearby.
By the time I’m finished setting everything up, most of the townspeople have flooded in. Must be 9 already. I’m proven correct as I hear a yawn and feel a hand on each of my shoulders, followed by a sharp chin on my head.
“Mornin’,” Sebastian grumbles, inspecting my set-up.
“Hello, my love,” I cheerily greet him, tilting my head up to see him. I wiggle him off me, and he obliges, wrapping over to my side.
“Looks good,” he comments.
“I’d hope so. Got here, like, an hour and a half ago.”
“Gross.”
“I know,” I agree, “So early…” I hug Seb’s arm and lean against it. “When does Lewis usually grade these things?”
“You’ve got a few hours. Why don’t we walk around a bit?”
“Fuck yeah, let’s go.”
______________
Seb and I played a few games, hung out with his mom and Leah by their granges, and watched the shitty clown in pure horror for a bit. As more people from out of town began arriving, we retreated up near the community center to eat some of the stuff Gus has been grilling.
“Feels way too early for barbecue.” Seb is still mad about being awake so early, understandably so. Was probably busy working late into the night. He looks super mopey as he bites down on his hot dog.
“It’sh sho good though…” I answer with my mouth full. I swear, I’ve never had a veggie burger that was so well-seasoned. Gus has to be some weird breed of food-wizard.
“Yeah, if there’s one perk to living here, it’s the food.” Seb takes another bite, then asks after swallowing, “Anything in particular you wanna check out next?”
“I dunno.” I peer over the bushes that line the short cliff overlooking town, and eyeball a tent that looks similarly decorated to the one Welwick had at the Calico Night Market. “I promised Welwick I’d pay her a visit, should probably do that sooner than later.” Peering back at Seb, I notice that he seems to be thinking hard. “What’s up?”
“Maybe I’ll go with you, this time, if that’s alright with you.”
Grinning, I nod with vigor. “Totally! You sure, though?”
He nods too. “I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and… I, like,” Seb pauses to get his thoughts together. “I don’t know if I want to be a wizard, considering how odd it still feels for me to be exposed to all this again.” That makes sense.
Nodding, I urge him to continue.
“But I don’t want to waste this weird gift either, if that makes any sense.” He shrugs, sorta to himself. “Seems less scary, now that I’m watching how well you’re adapting to it all. And also, I guess just seeing you have anything to do with it has been making me want to get involved…” His cheeks flush a little. “It would be cool if we could spend more time together when I’m not coding and you’re not farming, too.”
A little image of myself, Sebastian and Magnus working with one another in the tower flashes in my head. I feel butterflies in my tummy and get giddy with excitement – Was that a vision…? Or just positive thinking? – but do my best to hold it in.
“That would be really nice,” I nearly squeak. So much for containing myself. “I’m sure Magnus would be happy to help, too. I’m not really good enough yet to feel comfortable showing you the ropes alone.”
“Yeah, but I still have some things to sort out with him first.” He explains, “I really want to apologize for abandoning him.”
I take Seb’s hand – which was in a curled fist on the wooden picnic table – into both of mine, thumbing at his knuckles. “I’m sure you know by now that he’s literally, like, the sweetest person ever. He’ll probably understand.”
After nodding, Seb lifts my hands to his lips, pecking my bent fingers. “I hope you’re right,” he mutters, his lips still against my knuckles. “Would be weird if you two start dating and there’s still some unfinished business going on with me and him.”
I snort. “Thank you for not saying ‘getting jiggy’ again.”
“I should’ve,” he tuts. “Wasted an opportunity there.”
I roll my eyes and tug him up. “Come on, let’s go see that witch.”
Fingers intertwined, we make our way down the stairs and through the crowd. We run into Victor and his mom, who is so fucking beautiful holy shit, who’s deep in conversation with Caroline and Jodi. I wonder where Abby and Sam are, that he’s not off hanging out with them…? Either way, Seb promises that we’ll come rescue him once we’re finished with our current business.
Welwick’s tent is set up close to the cemetery. Feels fitting, for her to not just be further away from all the hubbub, but to also be near something spooky.
What’s also fitting is that Magnus is here – not even trying to disguise himself – and speaking with her. I guess he really was serious about trying to integrate himself into the town more. Hopefully he didn’t scare anyone this time…
“Didn’t expect to see him here,” I whisper to Seb. I look up, and he’s taking a deep breath in. “You okay?”
“Yeah,” he assures me with a squeeze of my hand. “Y’know what? This is perfect. It’ll force me to get that conversation out of the way.”
“Want me to go grab him for you?”
“Nah,” he shakes his head, still watching the elemental. Magnus has no idea we’re nearby, unless he’s just hiding it. “When you go up to the tent I’ll just sorta… break off with him, and work from there.”
“Okie dokie,” I salute. We continue walking, and I clear my throat when we get closer.
Magnus peers up, and his eyes dart between Seb and I. He returns my grin, and offers a soft nod of the head to Seb.
“Hello,” he nervously greets us. “Er, I’ll be going–”
“Wait,” Seb prompts, and Magnus’ eyes flush pink. “Can… can we talk?”
After a deep breath, Magnus nods. “Of course.”
He says his goodbye to Welwick just as I’m releasing my hold on Seb’s hand, and we switch spots. I hope their conversation goes well. I’m sure it will, but who knows.
It’s funny seeing how Magnus towers over Seb when they’re side-by-side like that. Makes him look so tiny…
As I approach where Magnus was standing, I’m shocked and delighted to see Welwick’s hood down. Her dusty blue-gray hair flows in long, thick waves – easily down to the small of her back – with a thin braid framing each side of her face. Her pale ears, as pointed as I’d expected, are poking out of her hair and adorn a large sum of piercings. Finally, her eyes — which are just as wrinkled as I expected — look soft and sleepy and warm, with irises as blue as her signature cloak.
“Greetings, my young friend!” The woman welcomes me with a wide smile. “That relic has been treating you well, I hope?” Welwick motions towards my necklace and I nod, clutching it on instinct.
“Hi, yeah! I think I’ve started getting non-sleeping visions now, actually. Still hard to tell if it’s just my imagination or not.”
“Only time will tell. I hope it is as useful for you as it once was for me.”
“Thank you,” I smile shyly. I wonder if she really just wanted me to keep her company, rather than to discuss anything in particular, when she told me to stop by… so far it seems that way. “H-how’s your day been?” I offer.
“Lovely, thank you for inquiring. It’s always a delight to be in Pelican Town. The energies are fierce here – truly invigorating, indeed!”
“Is that just ‘cause of Magnus, or…?”
“Amongst other things, yes.”
We continue to talk, exchanging pleasantries until she decides to dive more into her past (or, at least what she can remember of it). She’s clearly very stoked to hear about how recently I started my journey with all this arcane stuff, and to share her own experiences in any ways that can help or inspire me. It’s adorable.
We only halt our conversation when Seb and Magnus return. They were still speaking, both with a soft smile on their features, as they walked over to meet us. Made me feel all fuzzy. When Welwick sent me off, I half-expected her to tease me about Magnus (or even Magnus and Seb). Nothing came of it, though, which I’m thankful for; I’ve already experienced enough of that from Robin in regards to her son.
“So, uh…” I cut the short silence as we stroll a few feet over to the side before settling. Magnus must want to be somewhat hidden, considering how he seems to be confining himself to this small area. “You two made up, or whatever, I’m assuming?” I look back and forth between them, fidgeting with my necklace.
Suddenly, I’m realizing how intimidating the prospect of possibly “being with” both of them is… it feels weird. Not a bad weird, but just something that’s gonna take getting used to.
“Yeah,” Seb responds from my left, while Magnus’ “Indeed” sounds from my right side.
“Honestly it feels undeserved,” Seb adds, “but I’m happy we got to catch up a bit too.”
“Likewise,” Magnus grins. He then peers down towards me, “You hadn’t mentioned you were acquainted with Lady Welwick. When did that occur?”
I shrug. “I haven’t really had the chance. Happened the same day I met Camilla.”
“Ah, Camilla’s still bugging you?” Seb observes, gesturing with his head towards Magnus.
A hefty sigh and exasperated expression accompany the taller man’s nod. “Gave this poor girl quite a fright, too.”
“Was like a real life jumpscare.” I shudder. “She’s so… touchy.”
Popping his knuckles, Seb says, “Fuckin’ succubus, that lady.” I raise an eyebrow, and Seb shakes his head. He puts his hands up in defense for emphasis. “Nothing happened, but that doesn’t mean she didn’t try.” I tilt my head and nod, completely understanding. She did come off as very flirtatious.
“Is she the same way with you, Magnus?” I ask.
“Not anymore, thankfully. It took that wretch ages to understand my ill feelings towards her outside of a professional exchange.”
We fall into another silence.
This is strange.
“Do you, uh, want to come walk around with us?” Seb asks Magnus. There’s a bit of a blush on his cheeks. I wonder if it’s out of mere embarrassment, or something more…
Y’know, I’ve had suspicions that he might’ve crushed on Magnus in the past, but what if it was more than a little crush? What if the feelings never went away? What if Seb’s jealousy at first was a combination of possessiveness over me, and envy that Magnus has feelings for me that weren’t returned to him?
Muuuch to consider.
Magnus shakes his head, rejecting Seb. “I’d like to slowly assimilate myself. It’s been quite a long time since I last attended the town’s festivities firsthand, rather than viewing from the sidelines.”
“So creepy…” I teasingly whisper.
“Hush,” Magnus grins, leaning down to softly elbow my shoulder.
My brain heavily hones in on how he has to lean down for his elbow to get to my shoulder.
I feel… so small…
Stop, (y/n).
Sebastian nudges me too.
Fuck. I forgot he can feel when I’m, um... feeling.
I grab his hand and squeeze it, gaze planted on the ground. My face feels hot.
I look up at Magnus inspecting me. He saves me the embarrassment of asking me what’s wrong, even telepathically, but I still feel my features burn darker. I drop my gaze again.
This is so strange.
I clear my throat. “See you around, then?” I offer, allowing Seb and I to part from him.
“See you around, my deee–” Magnus’ gaze darts to Seb’s, and mine follows.
“It’s okay,” he chuckles, rolling his eyes.
“...my dear.” It comes out as just barely audible.
Another silence leads me to finally verbalizing what I’ve been thinking. “This is so strange.”
They both hum an agreement in unison, before Seb and I depart.
A few seconds later, I halt.
My partner looks back at me, tilting his head in confusion and stopping in his tracks. “What’s up baby?”
“Didn’t you wanna meet Welwick?”
He thinks about it, then replies, “Not anymore. I’ve had enough magic-talk for the day.”
“You got it.” I give him a thumb up, and then we continue onward.
A few more minutes of perusing the crowd for our friends go by, before we eventually just wind up back at my grange.
Seb pipes up, “We, um… we talked about you, and us, and all that.”
“Yeah?” I prompt, fidgeting with the ends of one of my braids.
“Yeah.” He sighs. “This is new to me, and apparently somewhat new for Magnus too… but we’ll make it work, ‘kay?”
I shrug, keeping my eyes on my fingers and hair; feeling nervous and unsure after our group interaction, given how unnerving it seemed to be for all three of us.
“Hey.” Seb tilts my face up by the chin, forcing me to look at him. “Even if nothing’s romantic with him and I, we both want things to work for you.”
Seb leans down, stealing my mouth in a kiss.
“I love you so much, and I can tell how much he cares about you,” he kisses me again before continuing, “so I’m ready to take all the time you need to get used to it.” He kisses me again, before murmuring against my lips, “Alright, princess?” Oh. This man has me in a complete trance.
His opposite hand comes up to cup my cheek, the one that was on my chin staying in place. I nod within his grasp, unable to find words, and he kisses me again, more passionately this time. It’s embarrassing – we’re surrounded by people, both familiar to us and strangers – but there’s no avoiding the way I completely melt into Seb’s sweet lips and gentle touch.
…Until we hear someone clear their throat beside us.
My eyes shoot open, and both of our heads whip to the side. Mayor Lewis is standing there, one hand on his hip and the other clutching his clipboard to his chest. Must be judgment time.
“Please, save that for elsewhere,” Lewis scolds us.
Unable to meet his face, I mutter an apology as I shift myself away from Seb.
______________
Unsurprisingly, I didn’t get first place amongst the farmers. That prize went to that Susan lady, who had an absolute unit of a pumpkin in her own display. Second went to Marnie, and third to myself.
I’m glad I at least beat Pierre.
Lewis had some nice things to say about the food I brought with me, but ultimately, he wanted higher quality, farm-grown produce as well as more variety. I suppose it’s pretty obvious that I just scrounged up what I could to toss in my box, but I’d hoped what I had would’ve earn me less critique than he gave me. I think he was still feeling grumpy about Seb and I having an impromptu snog-sesh out in the open.
Abby and Sam had apparently rescued Victor and brought him to hide in Sam’s yard, which is why Seb and I had such a hard time scoping them out. After receiving the memo, Seb and I stayed by them for a while.
Seb and Sam smoked and tossed a half-deflated beach ball around , and Vic lamented over how badly he wanted a hit, but couldn’t with his mother nearby. In the meantime, Abby and I sat against the fence neighboring Emily and Hailey’s place and talked about the most recent Prairie King news (DLC, babyyy).
Victor had to leave sorta early with his super hot mom, and once people started to clear out, Sam and Abby went inside for some kinda band stuff they’re working on. They invited me in, but feeling tuckered out from the day, I turned down the offer. Seb, on the other hand, was going to meet them there later. Already promised Robin he’d help her carry things home. After seeing those two off – they both refused my help, those stubborn little fucks – I opted to start cleaning up my grange.
Just as I began peering around for certain red-headed, forest-dwelling, art-making queen so I could give back this huge mushroom she found for me to submit, Magnus snuck up on me.
“What are you searching for, dearest?”
Dearest?!
Also, “Holy fuuu—“
Jas was about to run past us to see what Marnie’s up to, but she stuttered once she reached Magnus’ side. Her eyes bulged as she viewed Magnus’ towering form, then she continued her trek.
I scan the area quickly, and the adults nearby — with the exception of Andy — seem to pay no mind to Magnus. I wonder if they know of him, or if they just don’t care enough to gawk at the height, ears, and weirdly colored skin. He’s at least in normal clothing and uncloaked, so that’s probably helping.
I didn’t have a chance to admire his outfit when we interacted earlier this afternoon, but now that I’m viewing him in a turtleneck for the first time, I have to stop myself from ogling a bit.
“Uhhh,” I draw out the sound as I try and think up a replacement to show my fear and replace my fluster without cursing. I’ve got nothing. I grunt instead. “What’s with you and popping up seemingly out of nowhere all the time?”
“For the reactions, of course.”
“Oh, of course!” I sarcastically remark, as if it’s the most obvious thing in the world. “Prick.”
He grins. “How did you fare?”
“Third,” I whine, shrugging. “What about you?” I look the wizard up and down, “You’re awfully elementally, considering you’re out in the open today. I didn’t get a chance to ask about that earlier.”
As he responds, I set the mushroom aside and pile the faux flowers into the container I’d brought them over in. “It would be a tremendous burden to disguise myself as a mundane every time I leave the tower.”
“And if Abby recognizes you?” I smirk. I don’t know if she would, considering how nervous she seemed to be the night she met him as Mark, but it’s still funny to imagine the possibility.
“I will simply wipe her memory.”
“You can do that?”
“No.”
“Wait, what?”
“What?“
“Then… how would…” I meet Magnus’ eyes again, and they’re riddled with mischief. Oh. He’s fucking with me.
I roll my eyes and snort. I wonder if spending today around another elemental (who isn’t Camilla) is what has him acting all silly, compared to how timid he seemed earlier on. Just as I’m about to playfully insult the man and request a legitimate answer, I hear footsteps approaching. I look to my left, and see Leah sloppily making her way towards us. Her cheeks are rosy, and she has some sway in her step.
Robin did mention that the poor girl didn’t score very well…
I guess she drank about it.
“Ah, I was just looking for you before!” I exclaim.
“Y’were?”
“Mhm!” I grab the chanterelle and present it to Leah with a dramatic bow. “Your fungus, m’lady.”
She curtsies (to the best of her ability, being in pants), and lilts, “Oh, why thank youuu, beautiful.”
Beautiful?
My cheeks redden.
She winks. Fuck. She’s stunning.
I squeak.
Magnus quietly chuckles behind me, reading me like a goddamn book.
Blissfully ignorant to my swooning, Leah points over my shoulder with the mushroom in her hand. My eyes widen, and I turn back around towards Magnus. He seems nervy all of the sudden – must be remembering the painful interaction he had with Leah a few days ago.
“Hello,” he softly offers.
“What,” Leah clears her throat, “what isss swayin', canis lupus familiaris?!” She starts giggling wildly, as if she just made the sickest burn.
“Leah!” I can’t help but laugh with her as I grab the wrist that’s still hovering near my face and lightly shove it back towards her. “Don’t be a dick!”
“You command, whilst nearly in tears of laughter,” Magnus narrates.
It was pretty funny… A hearty snort escapes my nose before I apologize, covering my face with my hands and leaning my back against the table my display sits atop. The pig-like noise prompts him to laugh along with us.
“Did I not sound like’im?”
“No!” Magnus and I answer in unison.
I rub my forehead. “You wanna come to my place ‘til you sober up?” I offer her. “You can stay over if you want.”
“I’m fiiiine.”
After shoving the shroom into the front pocket on her green corduroy overalls, Leah moves closer and puts both her hands on my shoulders. It’s clear she’s using me to keep herself balanced while she tries to put on a serious facade. I plop my palms onto her fingers, letting her borrow me for a sec.
“Where’s Elliott?” I ask. Maybe he could take care of her.
“He went back to th’beach with Willy.” Leah stops to hiccup a little, then pouts. “So mean, that one.”
I chuckle, sarcastically responding, "Ah. So mean."
“Let me teleport you home, at the very least,” the wizard to my left and her right offers.
I scrunch my nose, peering up at him with uncertainty. “Would that be a good idea? What if she hurls?”
Magnus winces. “Ah, yes, that’s a fair—“
“Okay, sure, I’ll do that!”
Our eyes shoot to Leah. “I th-thought you were scared of him,” I claim, in a poor attempt to save Magnus from the curious drunk.
“Naw, hes just a little weird, thas’all!”
“How… relieving?” the wizard tentatively responds.
I throw Magnus an apologetic smile, then transfer Leah’s limp hands into his own. “Good luck,” I murmur to him. Then, I put a palm on Leah’s shoulder, and order her, “Lee, until you’re home, do not let go of him.”
“Mmmmhm, yes ma’am.” She winks again. Even through her bumbling, it’s still a gorgeous, tummy-fluttering sight.
I shove my face in my hands again. Magnus clears his throat, urging me to meet his maroon gaze. I do so with my hands still comfortingly cupping my pinkened cheeks. “Come see me in the morning?”
“‘Kay.” I mirror his soft smile, before he vanishes with Leah in tow.

Hi!! Could I ask for a RES8 and LOTR matchup? I'm a korean/spanish gay guy (he/him/it) with a personality somewhere between Michael Reeves and Shane from SDV.
I have ADHD, Bipolar 2, C-PTSD, and GAD. Outwardly, I'm fairly quiet and withdrawn until people reach out to me. Then I'm much more bubbly, hyperactive, and very flirty (<- also a coping mechanism). I have enough trauma to be a villain but my coping mechanism is to make light of it through dry humor. However, during my lows I have a tendency to be self-destructive and isolating for a few months on end. It can get rough with rare outbursts of violence and relapsing on some uh, very sadistic habits.
Uhh. I'm 5'2 with an average build. Long black hair with black eyes, and I usually dress in a grunge fashion. I look like a k-pop boy with a slightly rounder face.
Hobbies include painting, singing, book-binding, taxidermy, and board games. I like people who can match my high energy and be impulsive with me. My love language is physical touch and quality time.
Take all the time needed :)
As you wish my liege.
== Resident Evil ==>
I match you up with…
Karl Heisenberg
This man is no stranger to intense emotions. He’s been a victim of one woman’s manipulation all his life, and now wants nothing more than to burn her down. That said, when he meets you, he finds a kindred soul.
He wants to know every part of you, even the bits that you hide away. His thirst for knowledge is part of this, yes, but he also sees himself in you, and wants to give you the love he never felt.
Karl is most impressed with your taxidermy. The two of your creations are almost yin and yang: he creates with the dead, and you memorialize the dead.
Karl isn’t necessarily high-energy, but he’s got a flair for the dramatic and a passion that never dies. Impulsive is actually his middle name (trust me).
Whenever the two of you are together, he finds himself energized by you. Your  humor makes him laugh to no end, and the amount of energy you leak into the world around you helps even more. He’s eager to spend time with you just for the caffeine-like effect you cause.
He’ll be there for your highs and lows. He’s been in the deepest parts of the human mind, and knows with an absolute certainty that no one deserves to be left on their own down there. He’ll give you your space, but also knows when you just need to be held and given a kiss or two.
== The Lord of the Rings==>
I match you up with…
Boromir
Energetic and impulsive? This is your man.
Boromir is known for taking risks and making decisions that, historically, have been rather questionable. But despite that, he’s an intelligent and dependable man.
He’s fascinated by your passion for the simpler things in life. You remind him of himself as a child - full of wonder and curiosity for the world around you, and always seeking ways to learn more. Yet, you’re fulfilled by things like simply enjoying nature and honoring it. He’s in love with you from the moment you meet.
If you ever make him anything, he protects it with his life. He’s always in awe of your talent.
If you flirt with him? Game over. He’s done. You’ve won his heart. The people around him have always seen him as a leader, but not as a man. When you compliment his hair or eyes or his skill in battle, when you see him as a person whose skills you can appreciate, his heart is racing.
Continue to do this in the relationship, too. Even though he can be brash and rough-around-the-edges, giving him a quick peck with an ‘I love you’ will reduce him to mush faster than he can respond.

Weird headcannon request: what would your favorite villagers do in an apocalypse
Listen listen listen. I fucking love anything to do with the apocalypse, especially when zombies are involved. So I’ll write about that !!
This one took a while, sorry ! I wanted to include at least all of the bachelors, and then bachelorettes in another post maybe if I’m not lazy.
Also I follow someone on my other account and I really liked how they like, used different colors to highlight names, so I think I’m gonna do that ! It’s just cute okay :)
Bachelors in the Apocalypse
Alex
Alex thinks of himself as the most ready for the apocalypse. He’s got what he and his family need to survive for months. Food, weapons (Mostly just old baseball bats), clothes, and the Will to Survive.
The zombies probably come from Zuzu city. City people are dumb and get infected right when the virus hits. Everyone in SDV is safe. For now, at least.
Alex, unlike the other villagers, refuses to interact with anyone but his grandparents. He keeps contact extremely limited with people. The only time he ever interacts is when he goes to drop off cookies at Haley’s house, per Evelyn’s request.
He does miss his best friend, though. He misses everyone. He misses that time where he didn’t hear zombies going around the town, banging on doors and smacking their heads against windows. It sucks!
Alex takes a number of zombies down. He’s easily one of the toughest bachelors, plus he’s super strong. He wants to eventually take out all of them, make the valley a safe haven like it used to be. There’s still a long ways to go, but he’s slowly making progress.
His grandparents, especially Evelyn, help out by cooking for him and others. Alex helps out other villagers by dropping off little care-packages. It’s cute! It’s also his way of keeping in contact with everyone and making sure they’re okay.
Alex is the one in a zombie apocalypse movie to survive until the end. He makes the smartest choices and keeps his family safe. He can’t afford to lose anyone else.
Harvey
As a doctor, Harvey’s first thought when he hears about the zombie apocalypse is that he needs to find a cure.
And so he tries to. For about a week. Maru is in the office with him for a while, going back and forth from her house to the doctor’s office. It’s tough experimenting on zombies and it feels.. wrong.
Even though they’re a zombie, Harvey knows that there’s a person in there. Was a person. So he gives up on the cure and instead focuses on keeping the citizens healthy.
Harvey is a goddamn tank. Were he to be partnered with Alex, the zombies would be gone within two days. However, they have different concerns. Alex keeps the zombies away from the valley, and Harvey keeps them away from houses.
They have a good system. Harvey goes around the houses to do checkups, trying to keep some form of order in the new world. He makes sure the oldies stay healthy, despite being cooped up, and that the people that are out fighting stay un-zombieified.
I think Harvey would almost last to the end, but makes a careless mistake and gets bit. Fortunately, a cure comes around! He still did research on the zombies during the apocalypse, and his notes came in handy.
Elliott
You’d think by now that Elliott would be used to being cooped up in his house. He’s practically a hermit! The only time he used to go out was to sit by the ocean or see Leah at the bar.
Now that he has to stay in, he doesn’t like it. It’s the same as all of us with quarantine. Elliott never went out much before, but now that he can’t, he wants to.
He feels like dying of boredom within a week. Fortunately, the sense of impending doom creates a good writing atmosphere. He finishes at least three books during the span of the apocalypse.
However, Elliott isn’t very smart about his survival. He either forgets to eat the food that Alex drops off, or eats it before the week is up. It’s tough.
Eventually, Elliott decides he can’t survive on his own like this. He feels like he’s going mad. It makes for nice poetry, but for now, he needs to prioritize his health.
So he makes his way to Leah’s! He figures it’s probably a good idea. Nobody ever said that you couldn’t hang out with friends, or stay with them.
While going to Leah’s, he’s not very careful with avoiding any zombies. He’s not attacked, but he is followed. Leah let’s him in of course, and then end up holed up in her house. She’s lucky enough to have the forest near her house, so she can rely on that.
Elliott probably trips up somewhere and ends up dying first, joining the rest of the zombies. He’s not very good at being a zombie, though. Which might be for the best! He doesn’t run around very much and usually just hangs back by himself.
Sam
Sam thinks he’s going to be good at the whole apocalypse thing. He’s like “I’ve played enough first-person shooter zombie games to know how to fight them off.” Then the second he’s put into combat, he falters and doesn’t know what to do.
Lucky for him, Jodi is good at fighting. Kent knows how to defend the house. Vincent knows how to ask dozens of questions about what’s going on.
And Sebastian knows how to sneak into Sam’s window at night when they haven’t seen each other in a while. They still try and keep close, but most of their conversations are over the phone. It gets lonely, sometimes.
Sam isn’t necessarily smart about the apocalypse because he doesn’t need to be. He feels bad about relying on his parents, but you would too if you had his kickass parents.
He knows how to keep Vincent safe! Vincent is taken out at least once a week, mostly to see Jas. He misses her a lot. Sam likes to see Shane, too! He misses working with his buddy, even if his body was a grouchy alcoholic that waved him off whenever Sam got within ten feet of him. Good times.
Sam really wants things to be normal again, so he tries to stick with Alex whenever he sees him out. They’re good at fighting, but Sam is very chatty and often gets distracted by other things.
Other things are usually Abigail waving out of her window and whisper-shouting for Sam. Sometimes she’ll whip out the Samson!!! just to get his attention. It usually works. Alex will take a minute just to tease him.
Sam either survives until the end of the apocalypse, or dies about halfway through while on his many night trips to see Sebastian and Abigail.
Sebastian
Apocalypse? He doesn’t even know her.
Sebastian’s life is literally the exact same. Aside from hearing less people upstairs, nothing has changed about his life. Demetrius is upstairs working on a cure or something (Seb tuned out the second he started talking) and Maru goes off with Harvey sometimes.
He heard Robin say something about building a wall or something to keep the zombies out. He wasn’t planning to help very much, seeing as the others mom and some other villagers wanted to help out. Really, the only place the zombies are coming in is through the tunnel for the bus, so if they block that off, they’ll be fine.
Sebastian is more focused on other things. Like staying in contact with Sam and Abigail to make sure that they’re still kicking. Demetrius doesn’t let anyone outside of the house, so Sebastian sneaks everywhere, whether it’s outside to go smoke or to see his friends.
He’s pretty good at fighting, though. He can defend himself a whole lot better than Sam, who he thoughts would have more experience. They both thought his video game theory was true because they’re both dummies.
Those few times where Seb does get out of the house, he’s like a zombie killing machine. It’s too bad he’s doesn’t do it very often. He’s good at sneaking around, too. Those years of tiptoeing around the house to avoid his stepdad yelling at him are really paying off.
Honestly, the whole apocalypse could end and the zombies could dissapear, and Sebastian would have no idea. He'd still be down in the basement, messaging his friends and working on his coding.
Or, for a worse ending, zombies could storm his house, saving him for last, and he wouldn’t know until it was too late and he was surrounded by a horde.
I think Seb would end up surviving, though. He’s not necessarily good at the apocalypse, he’s just good at avoiding it.
Shane
When Shane thought about sobering up, he never imagined he’d have to do it like this. The apocalypse is pain in the ass for him.
He stays with Marnie and Jas, rarely leaving the property. He doesn’t like being holed up inside for so long because then he’s just alone with his thoughts, so Jas keeps him going most of the time.
As much as he hates to admit it, he misses his old life. He hated being employed at Joja, but it gave him something to do. And yeah, he misses his annoying coworker. Lucky for him, he gets to see him one a week when Sam and Vincent pop in.
Shane can act like he’s annoyed all he wants, but now? It’s he apocalypse. Why should he be so bitter?
I’m not going to say that the apocalypse changes Shane’s attitude, but he definitely has some revelations about himself that he wouldn’t have had under different circumstances.
Shane doesn’t like fighting zombies. Not as much as Alex does, anyways. But he still helps him out if it’s ever necessary. Shane is infinitely better at defending than he is attacking. He makes sure to keep the zombies away from their house, and the town in general.
Sometimes, Marnie will ask him to deliver stuff to Leah’s house, or Sam’s since they’re awfully close. It feels like a job to him, so he actually enjoys it. He’s surprised to see Elliott at Leah’s and immediately assumes they’re banging. He doesn’t ask any questions, though. He doesn’t care.
Shane probably ends up dying after a tiny mistake that could’ve easily been avoided. He doesn’t see it as that bad, since Jas is still safe. That was all that mattered to him, really. He either dies after a few months, or an entire year into the apocalypse. Either way he does not go down easily.
I would like everyone to know that I wrote these thinking that Lewis holes himself up in his house and does not help anyone out, so they kick him out and elect Alex as mayor. It was a silly thought I had, but then I just went with it.
Alex for Mayor 2020.
It’s not necessarily like, an official position, but they all kinda trust Alex to protect them, so he just assumes the position. He’s not the smartest, which is why Penny was elected to be Vice-Mayor (Alex’s words). They do a good job running the place.
Anyways that’s all! Hope you enjoyed! Sorry this took so long, it was a lot to write hah.

here’s some modern au headcanons for the arcana ... it’s something I think about a lot
Asra
gamer memeing shitlord . he majored in minecraft you cannot convince me otherwise
plays A Lot of minecraft but also just enjoys any similar sort of game, sdv, animal crossing, etc. He’s really good at video games but he’s just fucking around . he likes to play online games and try his best to make everyone hate him in a really harmless sort of way . he heals the enemy spy . changes his display name and avatar to be exactly the same as someone else . tells people to go into the console and type unbindall
he plays games with his friends and he’s usually the top player so he just spends his time spoiling the shit out of his friends giving them good items carrying them through dungeons etc but not Julian, he tells Julian to dig straight down in minecraft . Julian doesn’t ever know what he’s doing in any video game so Asra trains him wrong on purpose, as a joke
anyway enough about video games (for now)
Asra lives in a van that he painted the exterior of himself, it was both a fun project and a very smug way to annoy people with this awful fucking hippie van strolling into town, eat shit
it’s decorated with crystals, furs, fairy lights, mason jars full of food For The Aesthetic, books, etc. It’s very cozy, cottagecore / bohemian and it’s ridiculously obvious that he’s into witchcraft. he just lets Faust explore because this isn’t real and I can pretend that a snake is exactly as well behaved as in a fantasy story
basically homeless by choice
drugs tw but I see him as the type to want to try anything and everything at least once so if he’s ever been offered A Drug (and he crashes parties for fun and for free food, so he’s got opportunities) he’ll try it Just To See, and this has resulted in some bad trips before, but Muriel saw him in the middle of one and then after he sobered up Muriel put his foot down and made Asra agree to only do these things as responsibly as possible, like, with supervision from a friend
still drugs tw but I also see Asra as a stoner but in the cbd edibles sort of way, a lot of this is because I headcanon Asra as having ADD (because I do and I want to project a little bit) so it helps him focus but also he just Likes It. the glove box of his car has like, chocolate/lollipop edibles stuff like that
goes between like super healthy elaborate meals with mushrooms and veggies and fresh meat and shit and then just eating nothing but cheez-its all day
style wise I see him as the type to wear a lot of tank tops, like, the loosest of tank tops so it hangs super low and long and you get some nice cleavage out of it, crystal necklaces, gold jewelry, pride pins/jewelry/etc (trans/nonbinary/bisexual flags), oversized hoodies with loud colorful patterns, joggers and other loose comfy pants, and either boots or slippers
he’s got like... the at home look that’s basically what I just described, and then the away from home look that’s got thirty layers and none of it makes sense and he just shows up in orange crocs With Patterned Socks and everyone who sees him just lets out the heaviest sigh
Asra getting home be like (takes off a layer of clothes) (takes off a layer of clothes) (takes off a layer of clothes) (takes off a layer of clothes) (takes off a l
He likes to go on long road trips completely at random and saves up money to go on more extensive trips like, out of the continent. It can be really hard to place him at any given time, especially because he’s extremely slow to respond to texts for a whole multitude of reasons. He just fucking vanishes sometimes and he doesn’t get that maybe people want to know where he is. He’s too solitary
He makes money either via street performances (magic, tarot readings, etc) or selling shit on etsy like handmade tarot decks, crystal necklaces, magic charms, etc. He Has Never Worked A Day In His Life and He Will Not Start Now
Responsibility? Don’t know her
People ask him really obnoxious questions sometimes and he makes outlandish lies to tell them for fun . Why do you live in a van? A house killed my parents
In the fall/winter he lives with Muriel or more to the point, he crashes on his couch for a really long time and Muriel’s landlord doesn’t need to know about it for rent purposes
Julian
he’s a highly paid doctor and your mother would love it if you’d marry him if not for the fact that he looks like he never left his teenage emo phase
PIERCINGS
There’s DEFINITELY at least one piercing on his d
he lives with Portia and Mazelinka and tries to handle all their expenses but Mazelinka won’t fucking let him
soundproofed his room but not because he’s a youtuber or anything but because he uh. y’know what I’m gonna let y’all figure this one out on your own
goes to like............. lgbt friendly bdsm clubs every now and then looking for someone to step on him and call him garbage it’s for his mental health you don’t understand
black turtlenecks . silver jewelry . distinguished but Edgy as well, black boots, winklepickers, doc martens, ohmygod this is my SHIT I’m giving him red plaid pants and a reversed cross necklace and a leather jacket that says some radical shit on the back and Lots of Rings . black jeans with tears in the knees and black eyeshadow, demonia boots, leather gloves, hhhhhhOHmy GOD
catch him at home in black leggings and a my chemical romance tshirt with holes in it . he wakes up in the morning with yesterday’s makeup and he just cleans it up a little and that’s good enough
fairly small bedroom because he’s usually never at home, but it’s still pretty clear what he’s into even if it’s not super decorated or elaborate, kind of just Default Room but with his stuff arranged throughout . band posters, black furniture, a bed that looks like a depressed vampire sleeps in it, a bookshelf but most of the books are scattered around his desk, bed, and the floor. there’s a taxidermy skull on display somewhere because it’s just so dramatic you gotta love it
plays a black electric violin
extremely out of tune with pop culture he still listens to 70-00s music and he doesn’t know what a minecraft is or why Asra keeps yelling CREEPER when he comes into the room nor why Portia yells back AW MAN
I googled it and he qualifies as a millennial but I still see him as such a fucking old man who doesn’t know how to use electronics
despite being a doctor he’s so unhealthy . he eats nothing but depression meals (or just, nothing) unless someone forces him to sit down and eat an actual meal . No Julian whiskey does not count for your daily water intake
Malak probably happened because Julian wouldn’t stop feeding every black bird he saw just for the aesthetic and that was like 17 years ago but they still show up at his window expecting almonds or whatever the fuck . he changes houses but they’re too smart . you try to be a cool gothic thespian with a raven that will pose on your arm ONE time when you’re a teenager and they just never stop coming
sad lonely no friends hasn’t been laid in six years because he’s too busy and no longer remembers how to form meaningful relationships. Portia keeps being like so I met this really hot (insert gender here) and like idk I think they’re into goth dudes............... just saying...................... and he’s like am I really so pathetic that I’m going to let my baby sister set up blind dates for me? Yes
would drive something very goth like a hearse or some shit if not for the fact that his family would make sure he ends up in a coffin in the back of it if he drove up in that shit . please . buy a normal fucking car . Julian . oh my god
he starts quoting melodramatic poetry at the slightest inconvenience . he is that “All you did was betray me as I lay sick and festering. You are the definition of dread. My cat stole my fucking garlic bread” meme
been arrested multiple times for general rowdiness but also for political activism . at this point Portia/Mazelinka will just sigh and pay his bail and they don’t even ask what he did this time . how does he still have a job? I wish I knew
theater kid
Muriel
lives in a rundown apartment in the shitty part of town because it’s all he can afford, it’s quiet, and no one will try to visit him (except Asra) because no one wants to go to THAT part of town . but no harm will likely ever befall him because he’s 6′10 and like three million pounds of raw muscle with battle scars like you gonna fuck with that? really?
even if he got robbed it wouldn’t matter because A) he doesn’t own anything B) Inanna will chase the thief away
depression man staying in his quiet rundown dark apartment distracting himself with idle hobbies and taking care of his dog to prevent the encroaching ennui from tearing him a new asshole
changes jobs frequently both because he never stands out therefore never gets taken on full time after the part time trial period, AND to protect himself from the horror of being known
works mostly things like construction, auto repair, dog sitting/walking/etc, woodworking, mostly hard labor but if he can convince granny to let a very scary but completely harmless man look after her bichon frise for the weekend then he’s pretty happy about that
in a similar manner, he orders everything online so cashiers/etc won’t start to recognize him. delivery workers leave everything outside his door and he just drags it inside after they leave like an itazura kitty coin bank
goes camping a lot because staying cooped up in his apartment is super bad for his mental health and he doesn’t like to take walks through the city for a multitude of reasons. he takes Inanna on walks through the woods instead
Asra is his only friend and that’s fine (it’s not fine)
convinced therapy doesn’t work and he wants nothing to do with it
doesn’t like using electronics and only keeps a few things around his house so Asra can use them when he’s around . Muriel has a phone (that Asra got for him) so he can text Asra, check the time, check the weather, google questions, and like, nothing else
pretty much only happy when something is about dogs. he wants to go to the pet store and look at the dogs but he needs Asra to go with him so Asra can distract the workers and Muriel can look at the puppies in peace
dresses in blacks, grays, greens, and browns for the most part, jacket with the hood up, tank tops, dark jeans with tears in them, brown boots with mud stains on them . functional, not particularly stylish, and if he’s going to be in public he doesn’t want to make it easy for anyone to see his face. at home it’s mostly no shirt + sweatpants/joggers/etc. doesn’t accessorize or put in any real effort. he doesn’t care what he looks like (because he’s convinced he’s not much to look at anyway)
lives that super eco friendly life like Asra does but it’s more that he just feels comfortable living like he’s always on a camping trip
he doesn’t want to eat junk like Asra does but if Asra shows up with mcdonalds then well he can’t really say no
the type who uses something until he absolutely cannot use it anymore instead of just buying a new one
has never been to a doctor, dentist, etc Ever. the most he can do is take Inanna to the vet because he loves her so much
drives a very old pickup truck with like, chipped paint and mud stains. he’d take better care of it if only anything in life mattered
didn’t go to school
Portia
I like to think that she took on a groundskeeping job at Nadia’s very expensive large house and they fell in love and now Nadia pays for everything and Portia just spends her time gardening, playing with Pepi, and like idk running a vlogging/gaming youtube channel
200 videos of Pepi on her youtube channel with 4 million views each bare minimum . takes random videos of cats where she has to audio edit it to shit so you can’t hear her high pitched squeals of delight
minecraft let’s play part 30 where her, Asra, Nadia, and Julian play together and it’s extremely chaotic because Asra and Portia decide to gang up on Julian who does NOT know what he’s doing, and then Nadia surprises them all by not being the bigger person and instead tricking Julian into some elaborate trap where he steps on a trapdoor and falls 15 blocks into some lava and he looks up and all he sees is Nadia’s smug fucking avatar looking down at him
nightcore. it’s just not FAST enough
wears sweaters with cats on them. generally dresses in warm colors + brown/green, it’s like a very soft cozy look that you could go camping in or just generally be outside and get grass stains and whatnot. cute, functional
likes to make Julian do things for her like drive her places etc because like, he will. he always will
really likes social gatherings with her friends; sleepovers, beach trips, sitting at mcdonalds and pouring all their fries into a pile etc. tries to get Julian to go with her but he’s Just So BUSY. she makes fun of him and makes him drive her to it, then manages to convince him to stay
cottagecore aesthetic . she just thinks it’s so cute to have the little mason jars and decorate everything with leaves and flowers and BEES and whatnot . would love to live in a little cottage with a farm if she could
her room has a big cat tree in it . green wallpaper with yellow flowers. pressed flowers into books, an extremely cozy bed, fairy lights, it’s very farmy but also there’s a lot of electronics. she’s got a lot of 00s games, like, right in that ps2 sweet spot
nicknames all of her pokemon
she spoils the ever loving shit out of Pepi. She’s got a little cat harness and they go on walks through the park together
I don’t have a lot to say about the other two I Am Sorry

(he got) the wrong lovers
Caroline kneels and runs her hand over a happy blue hen. She lets herself enjoy how the chickens shake their feathers as she strokes them and the low contented coos they make.
The Farmer returns, offering Caroline a hand. “I’m sure the girls are enjoying your attention, but you’re mine tonight.”
or: caroline gets a dinner invitation from the kind farmer down the way
((hi sdv fans! i’m sorry that my first fic for this fandom is going to be a player/caroline fic with a bittersweet ending, but sometimes It’s Just Like That. there’s a little infidelity, because Obviously, but really and truly this is mostly pre-slash and caroline being conflicted and confused. please enjoy i guess???))
{ao3}
When the letter comes to the house, Caroline is shocked. All of their mail is usually for Pierre, supply forms or Head of Household things, or for Abby, her little magic magazines or a video game she’s ordered from the city; Caroline can’t remember the last time a piece of mail that wasn’t spam came in for her.
“What’s in the mail, dear?” Pierre asks as Caroline brings the whole stack into the kitchen. She sighs when she sees that he’s already begun eating, despite how she had asked him to wait for Abby. He has to open the shop, Caroline knows that, but he can’t wait five minutes to have a family breakfast?
“I got a letter,” She says, then flushes at how excited her voice sounds, like she’s a child on Feast day. “It’s from the Farmer.”
Pierre hums, disinterested. “Anything for me?”
“Ah, yes, sorry. A seed order form for next season.” She hands the booklet over and Pierre is easily absorbed by both it and his breakfast. Caroline doesn’t sigh, not aloud, but she does allow her shoulders to rise and fall before she leaves the room to remind Abby to come eat. It’s not like Pierre is looking at her anyway.
She doesn’t open the letter until later, after the store’s opened and after Abby’s left for the Museum, not because she’s ashamed or because it’s a secret but because it just seems like it’s something she should do alone. Like it’s private. She’s sent the Farmer letters before, with recipes and tips, but the Farmer’s always seemed the type to prefer face-to-face communication and she’s certainly never heard of anyone else getting anything in the mail from them.
Caroline, the letter reads, ink dark and deliberate but still a bit messy, letters flowing into each other in a half-cursive script like the Farmer’s hand couldn’t keep up with their thoughts, Sorry I can’t ask you in person, doing some stuff on the farm, but would you like to come over today at 5? It’s okay if you can’t, I’m just making a new recipe and wanted you to try it first.
Caroline reads the letter twice more before refolding it and tapping it against the countertop, thinking. Tonight… Well, tonight was going to be like any night: she’d cook and eat dinner, have some tea and read a book, try to get Abby to take her online classes seriously or wear something with a bit more color or stop doing all that occult nonsense or something. The only blip in her monotonous life is what topic she and Abby argue about -- that, and the Farmer’s visits, recently. There’s a part of her that wants to cling to that which is comfortable and routine but the more Caroline thinks about it, the more appealing it seems; she hasn’t had someone cook for her in a long while, and she’s never been out to the farm. Besides, she and the Farmer are friends now, right? She’s been to dinner at Jodi’s plenty of times, and though those were joint family dinners with Abby and Pierre and Jodi’s Sam and Vincent, this is barely any different. It wouldn’t be difficult to make food enough for two and put it in the fridge, She reasons, Surely even Pierre can work the stove well enough to warm up a tray of cheese and cauliflower.
She nods, final, and pops into the store to tell Pierre of her decision. He’s talking to Harvey and when he sees her, he holds up a hand in a clear wait a moment. Caroline frowns but stands beside the counter as the men finish their business and their chatter, an obedient wife.
“Yes?” Pierre asks when Harvey leaves.
“I just wanted to tell you that the Farmer’s invited me to dinner.”
“On such short notice? We’ll have to decline, I was going to do inventory tonight-”
“No, dear,” Caroline interrupts, rolling her shoulders back to stand straighter, “They invited me. I’m going to go over, this evening, I’ll leave dinner in the fridge for you, okay?”
Pierre makes a face, nose scrunching and corners of his mouth falling. “When did they ask that? I haven’t seen them in today.”
“They haven’t been in, but that’s what the letter was about,” Caroline says, then, when Pierre continues to look confused, she clarifies, “The letter I got this morning. It was from the Farmer, remember?”
“Oh, yeah. That.” Pierre says. Caroline can see that he obviously does not remember. She takes a breath in through her nose.
“I was just letting you know what I was going to do. I’ll write heating instructions and leave them in the kitchen but, if all else fails, you can put it in the microwave, it just might get a little mushy.”
Pierre makes another face but Caroline doesn’t give him a chance to argue, retreating to the kitchen to make dinner so she can have enough time to get ready before heading out.
When she leaves home at 4:30, pinning a note on the fridge to remind Pierre how to warm up their dinner, she walks down the dirt-trailed path towards the farm and realizes that it’s been ages since she’s been out here, out of the town center in general, really. When she and Pierre first moved to the Valley, she remembers going on long walks, through the forest and down the beach, up to the mountains and following the winding of the rivers; now, she spends her days either at home, in the square talking to Jodi and Evelyn, or at the community center. Time has made me boring, She thinks with something close to regret, wondering what the bright-eyed girl who used to sneak out to the Wizard’s tower in the evenings would think of her now.
As soon as the farm is in view, the Farmer is as well, leaning on the side of their house and absentmindedly fiddling with something. When they see Caroline, they put whatever it was into their ever-present backpack and jog out to meet her at the path.
“Hey,” They say, grinning, “You made it.”
“How could I not, with such a kind request?”
“You’re the kind of lady that deserves a kind request,” The Farmer says, and Caroline blinks in surprise but feels her smile grow all the same. The Farmer looks away, rubbing at the back of their neck. “Anyway, I’m about ready, but I’ve got to grab something from the coop first. You can come with me if you want.”
Caroline does want, so she follows the Farmer and lets them open the gate for her as they enter the livestock area. When they enter the coop, Caroline almost takes a startled step right back out the door; it is one thing, she discovers, to know that there are going to be chickens in a place, but it is something entirely different to suddenly be in a small room full of chickens.
“Oh, don’t worry, they don’t bite,” The Farmer says, sensing her reluctance. They pause and continue with, “Well, most of ‘em don’t. Mind that black one in the back, though I’m sure Voidy will be on her best behavior.”
The black chicken clucks loudly, almost in argument, but stops as soon as the Farmer sends her a sharp look. The whole exchange is enough to make Caroline laugh and snap from her nerves. She kneels and runs her hand through a happy blue hen’s feathers and when another chicken, this one white, comes over to investigate and Caroline pets her as well. She lets herself enjoy how the chickens shake their feathers as she strokes them and the low contented coos they make.
“Got it,” The Farmer says finally, returning and offering Caroline a hand. “I’m sure the girls are enjoying your attention, but you’re mine tonight.”
Caroline’s face flashes suddenly hot at the certainty in the Farmer’s voice, at the cocksure tilt of their smile, at the rough callouses on their hands as they pull her up with an easy motion and a bit too much power, causing her to stumble into their chest. She stills in shock for a moment, just a second, but it’s a second where she’s pressed against their work-hardened muscles, close enough to share the same air. The Farmer’s eyes are bright even in the dim light of the coop and Caroline’s pulse kicks up as those bright eyes soften. Then, quick as it had begun, the moment is gone and Caroline clears her throat and takes a step back.
“Sorry.”
“No need to apologize,” The Farmer assures her, and they hold the coop door open and the chickens back as she leaves.
Stepping outside helps clear her head a bit and she’s thankful for the cool evening air. The Farmer leads her back to the house and asks her to wait while they duck inside, so Caroline takes the time to press a palm to her still-quickened heart. What is up with me? she wonders. She figures that she’s probably just oversensitive; Pierre’s been so busy with the store, especially now that Joja’s closed, so someone paying as close attention to her as the Farmer does is obviously going to be a bit flustering. Especially when they’re that strong, She thinks, then immediately squeezes her eyes shut and shakes the thought away. The Farmer emerges then with a wicker basket on one arm and they refuse Caroline’s attempts to hold it.
“It’s rude to make a lady carry her own dinner,” The Farmer says, though they do offer their hand out to Caroline again. She doesn’t think she’s held hands with a friend since her childhood but Caroline takes it anyway, feeling the back of her neck heating up as the Farmer smiles softly and squeezes her hand.
The Farmer swings their attached hands gently as they walk further into the farm. They tell Caroline more about the chickens, about the kinds of crops they're growing this spring, and about how they’re experimenting with different types of jam.
“Once I get the sugar levels right, I’ll give you a jar,” They say easily. “What’s your favorite fruit?”
“Ah, I suppose I like apples, but really, you don’t have to-”
“I won’t do it if you don’t want any, but it’s not about ‘having to,’” The Farmer cuts in. They give Caroline an assessing look before shrugging and looking towards the darkening horizon. “I want to. I’d like to do nice things for you, if you’d let me.”
“I- uh,” Caroline swallows thickly, self-conscious and blushing. “That’s incredibly kind of you.”
“I already told you, you deserve kindness,” The Farmer says simply.
They don’t look back over to her, but their grip on her hand tightens slightly, comfortable and secure. They walk in easy silence until they reach their destination at the farm’s greenhouse. Inside, it’s nearly balmy and the air smells like fresh fruit and something else, familiar and pleasant to her. She can’t place it until they make their way around the towering blueberry, tomato, and grape plants and she finally sees two whole rows of valuable planting space taken up by her favorite flower, as well as the red-check blanket spread out next to the plants.
Caroline runs forward, unable to contain her excitement, and runs a finger down the petals of a particularly bright blue summer spangle. “These are out of season! How did you get them?”
“I asked the traveling merchant. I was going to just grow them and give them to you, but then I got this recipe and Abigail mentioned-” The Farmer cuts themself off, flushing. “Anyway, they’re for you, or, uh… I could keep them growing here if you'd like, and you could come by anytime to see them.”
“Really?”
“I grew them for you,” The Farmer says again. They take her hand and pull her towards the blanket, putting down the basket as they sit beside Caroline. “Now, this is my first time making this for someone else but all the ingredients are fresh, so…”
They push the basket towards Caroline, watching her intently as she opens the lid. When she does, she almost immediately drops it to bring her hand to her face, covering her shock-opened mouth. “You-”
“I can’t promise it'll be any good,” The Farmer is saying as they open the basket and remove the tupperwares of fish tacos by themself, red to the ears. The tacos smell delicious when they open the lids, like the sea and sun-warmed wheat, and they look even better. “No Gus-quality guarantee, but I tried my best, and-”
“It’s perfect,” Caroline interrupts, voice still muffled by her hand. Her heart feels full and light like there’s a balloon of pure happiness behind her ribcage, and she shakes her head in disbelief. “This is all so wonderful, I- I don’t know what I’ve done to earn this and I know you’re going to say it’s just a kind thing but this is- Perfect. This is just so perfect.”
Caroline drops her hand, letting it fall atop of the Farmer’s own, and the Farmer startles a bit. They look at her, eyes wide and face flushed, and Caroline feels her cheeks start to hurt because of how wide her smile is. I must look so silly, She thinks, An old lady like me so emotional over something like this, but still she can’t quell her joy.
“I,” The Farmer starts, eyes darting around Caroline’s face. They turn their hand under Caroline’s until they’re holding hands again, this time with fingers intertwined. “I’m glad you like it.”
“I love it,” Caroline confirms and pulls the Farmer in for a tight hug, pressing her face into their neck. When she pulls back a bit, arms loosely around them, the Farmer is still looking at her with that same wide-eyed wonder and it reignites her own embarrassment. “I’m sorry,” she starts, “That was-”
She doesn’t get to finish her sentence before the Farmer cuts her off, not with words but with action as they close the scant space between them and kiss Caroline, a soft press of chapped lips against her own. Caroline, for a moment, kisses back; she’s so full of joy and love, and the Farmer’s lips feel so right against her own as her eyes slip closed and her body presses closer that it takes a second for her brain to catch up. But as soon as it does, she near throws herself away, half-crawling off the blanket and directly into the bed of flowers that had so overjoyed her earlier. Her hand comes back up to her mouth, covering not happiness but horror now as the lightness in her chest turns into a churning weight in her gut. The Farmer looks just as shocked as she is, though the recognition doesn’t make her feel any less sick.
“I didn’t mean to-”
“I should go,” Caroline says over whatever apology the Farmer is trying, standing and brushing her skirt off. “I mean, look at the time! It’s so very late, and I’ve been at your farm for some time, and I really need to get home.”
“Caroline-”
“My family-” Caroline starts, only for the words to stick in her throat. She clears throat, ignoring the embarrassed and guilty sting of her eyes, and continues, “Pierre and Abigail will be waiting for me and I really shouldn’t have imposed on you like this.”
“You could never impose,” The Farmer says, mouth twisting sadly as they stand. Caroline takes another stumbling step back, feeling the stem of a flower snapping beneath her shoe, but they don’t try to cross the distance she’s put between them. “I shouldn’t have done that, but Caroline, you’re always welcome here.”
“No, I,” Caroline shakes her head helplessly, wipes a desperate hand at her eyes, “I don’t think I should come over again.”
The Farmer nods dolefully and takes their own steps back, gesturing at the blanket. “Take a taco at least, please. I made them for you.”
That’s the problem, Caroline doesn’t say. Instead, she takes one of the tupperwares and says, “Thank you for the meal.”
“It was no problem,” The Farmer says, still looking at her with those bright, earnest eyes, and Caroline- can’t. She can’t do this.
She shakes her head again, not trusting herself to even say goodbye, and rushes out of the greenhouse. It’s dark now, as she finds her way off the farm and down that country lane back into town. She doesn’t run, because there’s no way to know who’s watching and there’s nothing more gossip-worthy than fleeing into the night, but her steps quicken the closer she gets to home, where she’s relieved to find the store empty and unlit. She stops just inside the doorway, leaning back against the hard wooden door as she finally allows her shoulders to shake and the confused tears to fall from her eyes.
She feels like she stands there for an eternity, silently trying to dissect the night and see how it went the way it did, figure out what kind of shameful signals she was putting out that made the Farmer think that she’d ever-
But you did, a part of her brain hisses, You did, and you liked it. Caroline, alone in the dark of Pierre’s store, shakes her head roughly. No, she was just confused; it’s been a hard time for her and she’s been so stressed with the house and the store and Abby and she was just so lonely, it only made sense that her heart would get friendship mixed up in feelings like that. It was just an embarrassing accident, she assures herself, wiping her eyes and straightening her back. All there is for it now is to apologize, stay away from the Farmer for a bit, and pretend it didn’t happen.
Caroline takes a deep breath and nods to herself. She walks into the house proper, pausing when she hears noise coming from the kitchen. “Pierre?”
“Nope,” Abby answers. As Caroline enters the kitchen she can see her daughter at the table, eating shredded cheese out of a bowl by the spoonful.
“Abigail.”
“Sorry mom,” Abby says but doesn’t stop eating the cheese. Caroline sighs. Abby nods her head towards Caroline’s hands, eyebrow raised. “Is that what the Farmer made you?”
“I wasn’t quite as hungry as I’d hoped,” She says as her stomach flips again at the mention of the Farmer, just to remind her that she’s in no shape to eat tonight. “Did you enjoy the cheese cauliflower?”
Abby snorts, “Yeah I did, but dad just went to the Saloon.”
“He what?” Caroline spins around. Abby shrugs, eating another spoonful of cheese.
“Yeah, I don’t know. He’s in bed now, so I guess you could ask him about it tomorrow.”
“If I had known that he was just going to get dinner from Gus then I could’ve-” Caroline stops, takes a deep breath. She opens the fridge and puts her untouched fish taco next to her husband’s untouched serving of cheese cauliflower. She exhales and relaxes her shoulders. She has no right to be upset with Pierre right now. “Nevermind. It’s not a problem.”
“‘S still not nice,” Abby mutters around her spoon, “For all he complains about cooking, you’d think he’d appreciate…”
Abby trails off with a roll of her eyes and Caroline waits for the usual Make your family play nice instinct to rise in her chest, for the Have some more respect for your father! to fall from her lips before she can even think about it, but it… doesn’t. Caroline frowns, just slightly.
“Well, don’t stay up too late, okay?” Caroline says, instead of anything else, and kisses Abby on the forehead when she grunts her assent.
As Caroline gets ready for bed, she finds herself thinking about the greenhouse again. She looks in the mirror and presses a hand to her lips -- wondering what she’d looked like to make the Farmer kiss her, wondering if that had been their plan all along, wondering what could’ve happened if she wasn’t a wife and mother. She splashes water on her face to help clear the thoughts away. Musings like that are for girls half Caroline’s age, a girl like Caroline was before she met Pierre and moved to Pelican Town and had Abigail. Farmers and greenhouses and summer spangles, none of that is for Caroline any more; she has her life, and that's enough.

Well, I guess if I’m going to come here to make random OC posts I might as well give a little update.
The TL;DR is that I got a little over extended with things in my life in addition to being unhappy at work and basically almost all social media started to feel like one more extra pressure or task I needed to do. Not to mention all of that stress was making me lose touch with the whole reason I was hanging out here in the first place. I lost my spark for the fandom things I’ve enjoyed for years. So I took a step back. I’m considering this a trial return, but I might need to make some adjustments to keep a good balance with everything else in my life.
A bit more rambling under the cut, but if you are still out there, thanks for sticking around. I think about all of you lots, even when I’m not active.
In terms of fandom I hit a point where I felt really disconnected. I’ve been into DA and ME for almost 10 years and I lost touch with what made me love them so much in the first place. I had no desire to write. I didn’t have any ideas for my OCs. Everything went sort of dull and it sucked because this is stuff I’ve cared about a lot and for a long time. It’s hard to tell if burn out in other areas of my life was taking my energies to care about fandom things or if I was naturally coming to point where it was time to move on. I mean, we change right? Some things stick with us for years, but others come and go and maybe it was just my time to search out new stuff. I feel bad saying this, but it got to point where I was so frustrated with myself that it was hard to see other people’s art and writing because instead of enjoying it and being supportive, I saw it as reminders that I wasn’t doing that, and didn’t have the spark to do that, and I missed it and wanted it back. It feels like losing touch with old friends.
I think back to how those games made me feel, and I feel like I keep chasing it. I’m looking for that reconnect or the next thing that’s going to grab me and beg for the next level of interest and interaction on my part, and I just haven’t found it. There have been plenty of things I’ve enjoyed, just not in that deeper way.
Things I think (I hope) are startling to settle at work. I stopped going to bellydance, which was super fun, but also one more thing to work into the schedule each week. Still DMing, we’re almost at the end of Waterdeep, just a few more sessions probably. I cut down my facebook. It’s mostly family for me and a few friends from different cities I’ve lived in. I never had a bunch of friends there to begin with, but for the most part, I can check it for a few minutes once or twice a day and feel like I’m caught up. My stupid foot is finally good enough that I’ve started doing light exercise again and I’ve been trying to watch what I eat.
I’m not sure where tumblr fits into all of this. A big part is going to be avoiding negatively. I’ll be honest, this is my place to stick my head in the sand and enjoy the fun nerdy things. The world is a shitty place, I am aware. I keep track of that outside of tumblr. Between fandom drama and the ‘if you don’t care about X you are a terrible human” posts, it can be a hard place to hang out when you’re trying not to be overwhelmed with bad things. I might have to trim my follow list, which sucks, but the alternative might be dropping off again all together. Head canons for my SDV farmer is closest I’ve come to fandom creativity in a while so I’m hoping that’s a good sign and it isn’t fleeting. We shall see.

SDV Prompt: Drinking Contest
So I’ve been dinking around with @dwarva‘s story prompt generator and ended up with the characters Emily and Lewis and the theme “Drinking Contest.” I got the idea for where I wanted this to go pretty quickly, and manged to write it out into a silly little ficlet. Not my most well-polished work, but it was a fun prompt :) I plan to continue doing little prompts like this and posting the finished ones from time to time; they make for pretty good practice. Enjoy!
Friday night at the Stardrop Saloon was always good for a chance to unwind. The Saloon regulars, who during the week often found the place to themselves, were joined by only-slightly-less regulars who counted on the place for a celebration of another workweek finished, and more often than not, they were joined in turn by random townsfolk who had decided they needed a chance to relax and catch up with the neighbors. All told, this was just the time and place for as much relaxing and catching up as anyone in Pelican Town needed.
Maybe a little too much of the former at times, Lewis thought to himself as he sat near the door and nursed his drink. Marnie was busy with a cow birth tonight, and would probably be hovering over the new calf and its mother until early morning, which left the town mayor without his usual drinking buddy. That was quite all right, he supposed -- he was a grown man perfectly capable of finding his own fun, and he had a pretty good relationship with most of the people in town. It seemed he had gotten a little too used to taking the front table with Marnie and chatting the night away, but it would be simple enough to break away from the habit and move.
It was quite possibly thanks to his attempts to figure out who to talk to that he noticed the disaster in the making. Shane was sitting at the bar in his usual corner, but at some point in the past few minutes he had been joined by Alex, Sam, Sebastian and Abigail. They were all having an... unusually lively conversation, at least for Shane, and from the cocky grins on half their faces, Lewis was beginning to get a distinctly bad feeling about where this was headed.
The mayor almost didn't tear his eyes away when Emily swept up to his table, notebook in hand and dazzling waitress smile at the ready.
"Hi, Mayor Lewis!" she chirped. "Would you like to order some food, or are you waiting for Marnie to get here?"
Lewis waved a dismissive hand. "Marnie can't make it tonight, but I think I'll wait on food anyway, thank you." His gaze drifted back to the group of young folks, and he frowned.
"Do you know what they're all planning? Please don't tell me it's a drinking contest."
Emily's hair whipped through the air as she turned to look at the group, and then she shot him a sheepish smile. "Umm," she tried, "Okay. I won't tell you then."
Lewis let out a low sigh. Those three could get loud on their regular 'Saloon Nights' as it was -- he did not want to see them all liquored up along with Shane and the local blustering jock.
"I'll just take this to the bar, if you don't mind," he told Emily, picking up his ale. "I want to keep an eye on those five in case I have to run damage control.
Emily's smile broke, and she put out a placating hand. "Oh, you don't need to do that! I already promised to keep an eye on them if anything looks like it might get out of hand. Besides," she added, a note of confidence returning to her voice, "I think they can pretty much handle themselves. They're more responsible than you think."
Lewis raised an eyebrow at the waitress. "Responsible," he repeated, a note of flat disbelief in his voice. "Really."
Emily nodded. "Mm-hmm."
"Abigail isn't even out of college yet."
Emily shrugged. "So? A lot of people don't get through college in four years, and I for one think it's very mature of her to see it through."
"That's not my point."
"Mayor Lewis, if you're implying that being a college student somehow makes her an irresponsible drinker, I'll have you know that I hardly touched a drop when I was in school!"
Lewis snorted. "Fine. But aren't they all noisy enough when they come here?"
Emily's face darkened for a moment. "Well... Shane doesn't really say much in any case, but I don't think that's really a good thing for him." Her expression quickly lit up again. "But for everyone else, I think that just means they're having a good time! And I think participating in a group game like this would be good for Shane... even if it would really be better if there wasn't alcohol involved."
Hmph. Well, Lewis supposed the girl had a point, but he wasn't about to give up that easily. "Emily, do you even realize who all we're talking about? Even without Yoba-knows-how-many drinks in their systems, these kids have been responsible for balls going through windows, town-wide prank wars, rotten egg tosses, ruining the Luau soup for a lark --"
"--And all those things happened many years ago, Mayor Lewis. They've all had a chance to grow since then," Emily replied gently. She shot him another smile. "Look, I know these things can get out of hand, but that's why I'm going to be watching them. All I'm asking is that you try not to worry about it, okay?"
Lewis took a deep breath and let it out, his mustache ruffling in the breeze. He really couldn't argue with Emily there, as much as the whole thing bothered him.
"Fine," he finally said. With a small smile of his own, he added, "but I'm still moving to the bar. No point in keeping a table all to myself, eh?"
Emily beamed. "That sounds just fine. I should see if somebody else has an order yet -- I've been chatting too long already!"
With that, she swept away. Lewis chuckled to himself as he watched her go. That girl had so much energy, he didn't think any impending disaster would be enough to sway her.
*  *  *  *  *
Some time passed, and by Yoba it seemed Emily had been right. Gus had let her more-or-less take over bartending duties while he kept an eye on the tables, but it seemed that running damage control wouldn't be part of her repertoire tonight.
Not for lack of anyone getting drunk, though. Lewis was pretty sure that Sebastian had given up after his first glass of mead, and by now he'd turned his full attention to keeping Sam and Abigail from falling off their bar stools. Those two had collapsed against each other in a fit of giggles several minutes ago, the competition apparently forgotten. Alex and Shane were the only two still going, the former shooting the latter a too-heavy glare and the older man just staring ahead with a kind of grim satisfaction as Emily brought them another round.
"Are you sure you haven't had enough?" she chimed in as she set the pair of beers down. "It looks like you've already beaten half the group -- we could always call this one a tie."
Shane offered her a tiny smirk. "Emily, do you really want to deny me a chance to prove myself with one thing I'm actually good at?"
Emily clicked her tongue and shook her head, but left the men be. She caught Lewis's gaze as she did so, and offered him an encouraging smile. He returned it along with a small nod, glad that Alex and Shane were too caught up in their competition to notice. (As for the other three, they seemed to be caught up in some sort of joke Abigail had just made. Sam had started cackling like a hyena, while Sebastian was clearly less certain of the joke's humor, and Lewis ultimately decided that he didn't really want to know.)
The remaining competitors were about halfway through their beers when the door to the saloon opened behind Lewis and a newcomer joined him at the bar. He glanced over to see Elliot eyeing the competitors with a cool curiosity.
"Well, they certainly seem to be enjoying themselves," the young man said. "Might I ask what is going on over there, Emily?"
Alex overheard him and grinned, raising his drink in challenge. "Drinking contesht!" he bellowed. Jabbing his thumb to the side, he added, "We already beat theeeeshe nerds, ya think you can handle it, book man?"
It was at this point that Sebastian officially gave up, rolled his eyes, and grabbed his friends by the wrists to drag them back into the game room. Meanwhile, Elliot considered the challenge with a thoughtful little smile on his face.
"Hmm... Well, I suppose I could use the distraction. If you don't mind me joining in late, of course."
Shane shrugged in concession, Alex whooped, and Elliot moved over to their end of the bar. Lewis managed to catch Emily's eye one more time, and the expression she allowed herself once she was out of the writer's field of view was enough to tell him that she too remembered the time Elliot had unknowingly drank spiked punch at the Egg Festival.
Shooting one more inconspicuous glance at the far end of the bar, the mayor stood up to stretch and casually sat down a few seats closer to the competition area. Emily offered him a grateful smile as she went to fill a new mug for the latest contender.
After all, just a little extra caution never hurt.

SDV Appreciation Week - 4
(So, I know I didn’t do days 2 and 3, but that was mainly because I didn’t remember half the stuff I chose when it came to ranching and all the other stuff you get to pick. Shush.
Oh yeah, since Cadence isn’t married yet, I’m just gonna be using Pepper for this one.)
1. First things first! Does your farmer believe in true love?
He does, to an extent. He’s had some bad experiences with relationships; whether it was having to witness his parents bicker when he was younger, or the horrid treatment he received from his ex, but he wanted to remain open to the possibility of finding love someday.
2.Who was your farmer’s very first crush? Did they keep that crush, or end up falling for someone else?
He really didn’t have much of a crush on anyone, to perfectly be honest. Him and Shane bonded and that ended up developing into a whole other relationship than what Pepper expected.
3.Did your farmer date the whole town? How do you personally headcanon that turning out for your farmer?
Goodness no! Pepper is anything but a heartbreaker, he’d never play around with people’s feelings. Given that he’s had experience in that department, that is to say, the department of having your emotions and feelings messed with, he wouldn’t want to do that to anyone else. Before anyone knew he was gay, some suspected he might end up going out with Leah, but the two of them just stayed as best friends.
4.How do you imagine your farmer’s first date went with their chosen bachelor/bachelorette?
Oh my, well. Technically their first date wasn’t much of a date, considering that it was directly after the Tunnelers game. Shane invited Pepper to come back to the ranch with him and spend the night, and the two of them ended up walking around Cindersap Forest for a bit and talking about their relationship, then went back inside the ranch and watched some movies before going to bed together.
5.What made your farmer fall in love with their SO?
His realness. Pepper saw some of himself in Shane, and at first he attributed to the fact that his brother had also been an alcoholic and took his feelings for Shane at first as brotherly ones. It wasn’t until that day on the cliff that Pepper realized how he really felt, and how pained he’d be if Shane wasn’t in his life. Even though the two of them struggle with mental illnesses, they’re both there to support each other and that’s really what’s kept them together.
6.Where is their favorite place to talk and hang out?
I’d say the pier. It was where they shared their first serious conversation and where they enjoy going on quiet evenings, to just relax and let go. It’s peaceful and away from everything, they both enjoy the isolation.
7.Was there anything your farmer and their SO fought about?
Hmm. Well, Pepper did get onto him about drinking a few times, but that was only out of worry. Another time was when they were debating on having kids and it was only brought on because so many people kept asking them when it was gonna happen. Both of them doubted their parental skills and ended up bickering about it for a good hour.
8.How did your farmer propose?
It was a spring day, if I remember correctly. Gameplay-wise, I don’t exactly know where the proposal happened,  but storyline-wise, Pepper caught Shane after work and invited him over for dinner. He ended up bringing out the pendant after dinner and proposed right then and there. Poor boy was shaking like crazy, but he was relieved that Shane said yes.
9. did your farmer ever have kids? If so, what are their names? What are they like?
Yup! After much discussion and debate, they finally adopted a baby girl named Ellie. She’s got her papas wrapped around her little finger, and is a very vibrant and happy baby. She’s almost always smiling and loves chickens just like her daddy, Shane. When she’s older, Pepper and Shane are planning on adopting another baby, they’re thinking a boy this time.
10. How have your farmer and their SO settled into the married life?
Fairly well! It was a bit odd starting out, but they adjusted soon enough and are very content with their little family.
