Charles is the Prince of Monaco, and Pierre is hopelessly devoted best friend. This fic has everything that I love about Charles and Pierre, and everything that I love about royalty au's! Despite his outward confidence, there is a lack of self-esteem that runs through Pierre. This reads very true to how I see Pierre, and it is a joy to read him struggle and come to terms with this. Charles is so lovable and humble, and I loved him so much! This author is so good at building tension, and creating conflicts and misunderstandings that feel very natural and fun to read. A great read!

'Charles is a prince, the heir apparent to the Monégasque principality, no less, while Pierre is just another engineering student. Who is he to think he can make Charles happier than the wealth of beautiful, classy and important people available to him? // His best friend, whispers that same voice in his heart, as treacherous as it is fierce. I am his best friend, and I know him better than any of them ever will. I have been by his side for his whole life, and I don't plan to leave anytime soon.

Soulmate AU. Pierre is prince of a France that still has a monarchy. He is to marry by the time he turns 27, but hasn't yet found his soulmate. He meets Charles, an event planner, and they develop an easy friendship. This fic hits so many of my favourite royalty and soulmate tropes all in one. There is pining, there is a Prince who chafes against the bonds of royal duty, there is a commoner who isn't at all fazed by the fact his friend is a royal, and there is a soulmate bond that manages to cause more problems than it solves. Neither Pierre nor Charles want to impose their feelings upon one another, of course, to the exasperation of their friends. There is also a lovely recurring sun motif around Pierre, which just delights me.

Charles is not his - the blue handprint on his side, Pierre’s impending marriage and ridiculous soulmate-less status…Charles will never be his, but Pierre grabs his waist - ashamed at himself for it when Charles so very clearly did not like it - and he wishes he were. God, he wishes Charles could be his.

Alex/Charles

In this Roman Holiday inspired story, Alex, a freelance journalist, comes across a beautiful young man in the street. The man appears to be under the influence of drugs, and Alex takes him home overnight for his own safety. The man is the prince of Monaco, and when he realises he's been missing for a night now, decides to take a day off from being a royal and enjoy the city. This story is absolutely charming, and Alex quickly finds himself realising he cannot use this encounter for a story like he had planned to. Charles is absolutely giddy in his enjoyment of his day of anonymity, and it's no wonder Alex falls hard.

Alex has an armful of beautiful Frenchman, but what sounds like a dream is closer to a nightmare because a stranger seems close to asleep on his chest. The man’s shirt is very soft, and feels expensive, and he is either very drunk or there is some other substance involved, because he’s burrowing his face into Alex’s faded band tee, even though they’ve never seen each other before in their lives. Alex knows the smart thing to do would be to lean the guy back up against the wall of the cemetery and go home. But the stranger looks young, and soft, and there’s clearly something wrong. Alex tries to shake him awake. “Mate, where are you staying? Let’s get you home.” The man mutters a few words, which sound like “Youth leadership is the future.” Alex wonders, semi-hysterically, if the stranger is some kind of motivational speaker. It would explain how pretty he is. Alex takes a big, shuddering breath. Okay, so, his bloody stupid conscience is not going to let him leave the stranger here. The stranger is too out of it to remember where he’s staying. That only leaves one option – the stranger has to come home with Alex. Alex crouches and puts the stranger’s arm around his shoulders, and begins to trudge the ten blocks to his flat.

Charles/Carlos

This is a boarding school AU with a bit of a Young Royals feel. Charles, prince of Monaco, is enrolled for the final schooling year and makes friends with Carlos. Charles strives for a sense of normalcy but is never quite allowed to forget he is a royal. His friends, especially Carlos, do the best they can for him. Carlos has a tendency to be overprotective which backfires a bit, and he needs to learn to let go just a little.

Carlos feels a little giddy. In the span of a few hours, he’s gone from not having spoken to or seen Charles in almost a month, worried Charles was never coming back to Watford, to holding him, kissing him, coming for him... “I thought about you a lot,” Charles says, reminding Carlos that he’d asked a question. “...while I was at home. I was sad-” His voice cracks, and Carlos smooths a hand along Charles’ waist, offering some small comfort. “I was sad about my father. And I’d been sad about you for a while.” “Me?” “Yes,” Charles says. His fingertips rest gently against Carlos’ jaw. “I’ve felt...so lonely - for a long time. I love my family, and they love me, but my brothers don’t understand what it’s like for me - not really. And my parents...” He pauses, and Carlos knows he’s thinking of his father. “They have always wanted me to be happy. But I don’t think they ever imagined that being happy for me would mean...this.”

Carlos/Lando

Lando is fourth in line to the throne. Carlos is still an F1 driver. They meet when Lando presents a trophy at Silverstone, and begin an affair. Lando is chafing badly against his existence as a royal even before he meets Carlos. The self-discovery journey he goes on, in regards to his sexuality and also what he wants more broadly out of his life, is a big part of this story. The supporting cast is vibrant and breathe levity and grounding humour into Lando's life, especially George as his head of security, who is such a great character he is almost in danger of running away with the entire fic.

“My boyfriend. He's - his name is Lando." Ana snorted. "What, like the prince?" and Carlos looked around for help from somewhere because he really, really didn't know what to say to that. 'Yeah, exactly,' seemed a little stupid. Even though it was utterly, absurdly true. To Carlos' surprise, it was his father who looked at him, really looked at him and then, then he just started laughing, a full, deep laugh. Everyone turned to him like he had lost his mind but he simply shook his head. "Nothing halfway, Carletes. Nothing halfway."

Logan/Oscar

hopelessly devoted by indyd | T | 7.6k

Oscar is upset when he learns that his old bodyguard has been replaced. He gradually finds himself developing a different sort of attachment to Logan, his new guard. Logan's quiet devotion and the pair's mutual respect for one another in this story is just lovely. The relationship develops very gradually. I would love to read more of this story if the author is ever so inclined.

“I’m sorry,” Oscar interrupted his train of thought. He sounded miserable and, when Logan looked again at him, he looked miserable too. “Why?” Logan asked, feeling guilt overtake him. He’d been thinking horrific, inappropriate things while Oscar sat there, sad. He’d never seen Oscar look quite so sad, “It’s nothing to apologize for. You can’t help what you like.” Oscar blinked, then a bittersweet smile scrawled its way across his lips. Logan would take that smile, even such a weak one as this. “Stop being so nice,” Oscar sighed, “‘s too easy to misunderstand.”

George/Alex

Alex is the Prince of Wales, George is still an F1 driver. They have a relationship, but Alex withdraws when he realises that his royal duties will make it impossible. George is heartbroken and internalises the issue, thinking if he can just be more successful at his sport, Alex will want him. The stifling nature of Alex's existence as a royal, the longing from George's side, and the seeming impossibility of their relationship are all great royal AU themes. George's blaming himself for not being "good enough" feels very authentic.

George does not speak at first, and Alex is suddenly scared. He braces himself, prepared for the worst, about to tell him how proud he is and how well he drove despite everything. Nothing could have prepared him. “It's like there's glass in my lungs, Alex. It feel like there's glass inside me. Something's broken."

Charles/Seb

nsfw: the house by the sea by @hungriestheidi | M | 46.7k | wip

Charles is the Prince of Monaco, and Seb is his bodyguard. This story is incredible. Charles is such a compelling main character: despite being surrounded by people, there's a loneliness and a distance to those around him that is so beautifully explored. The unfurling of their attraction to each other is a joy to read. I love this fic!

'Sebastian is invisible most times. People don’t seem to notice he’s there until he believes a threat can take place. Charles spends hours wandering the streets of Monaco without feeling overwhelmed, it’s almost like he’s walking alone until someone stops him for a chat and the steady presence of his bodyguard makes itself known, a hand carefully pushing away the stranger’s arm.'

I just bookmarked all the ones you recommended in relation to the 10 best episodes and now I need more! Long fic recs (50K-100K+)

1. to the world that never let you be by ImperialMint. Look. I'll hand out my own throat so willingly to any scar reveal fic. The trope is just so dear to my heart, and this one in particular was something else. It broadly covered every single feeling you might be looking for in a Merlin fic, and its characterization of both Arthur and Merlin was top tier. I basically sell my soul to any fic that does justice to their characterization, and this one did so much more than that.

2. What I'd Have Done by @flight-of-fantasy. I solemnly swear you will never read something like this fic. I read it in one day from how on edge I was all the time. I had to recount it to my friends in the timespan of three hours because of how much screaming and dramatic pauses there was. Simply, the brilliance of plot here is unmatched. Arthur's characterization as a strategist shook my innards, and Merlin's unapologetic nature was chef's kiss. It's so hard not to give away the plot while recommending this so just.. just read it.

3. Redemption by flakedice, Zerda. Soon, you will find a parallel post to the best 10 episodes with the worst 10, featuring first and foremost The Disir. Honest to God, I could literally go on ages ranting about how much agony this episode brought me. It was the blow that awoke my eyes to the possibility of fuck, this show isn't going to end well. I once thought about shitting on that episode like I did with 5×13 in My heart is readily yours, but fics like these hold me back because they already gave us everything. It gave us the ending we deserved. Gold. Everything in this was gold. The world building, the character development, the fact that Arthur has been given time. Truly a fix-it that fix-ed my heart.

4. Talking about deviations from The Fucking Disir, The World I Built for You by Fulgance is a must. It was the first fic I've read from the How They Didn't Find Out (magic reveal one-shots) series, and from then on I was * s o l d *. Whichever fic you decide to read from this, I guarantee you, you will have the time of your life. Fulgance is the one author I will always recommend without a shadow of a doubt. There is not a single work of theirs that will disappoint you. They will only break you.

5. Deep In My Heart I'm Concealing by @citharaposts. True story about this fic, I squealed when I read its summary. “I'm not standing here as a king, Merlin!” was the quickest catalyst to ever make me start a fic. I specifically wrote a spoiler-free comment for the author and left it in the first chapter so that anyone who's thinking about whether or not to go into yet another 100K fic will rest assured that it's an amazing ride. Have real fun with this one.

6. It Was One Kingdom, Once by queerofthedagger. Two things, if they happen, you leave everything behind and go thank your God for blessing you with it: @queerofthedagger posting a new Merlin fic, and it being a Royal Hanahaki AU. Like so many other tropes the author has nailed, this was the best Hanahaki I've ever read (across fandoms). It's so intricate and detailed and the world building is on another level. If our world was burning and I had only one thing to save, it'll be the works of this author.

Counting his fingers he slowly started to breathe normally again, and when the panic attack wasn’t threatening to take over he rubbed his face and looked at the time. 4 am. Well, three hours of sleep was better than nothing.

shadowgast fic rec: hurt/comfort

3 Hurt-Angst/Comfort Shadowgast Fics I enjoyed

Okay! I'm not making this an official list because I really want the asker to know I posted this.

I realized I read a LOT of hurt/comfort shadowgast fics but have mentioned a lot of my favs in my previous lists (I'll link the lists at the bottom of this reply) so I went through my bookmarks and picked three others I enjoy (of various lengths):

__________________________ 1- I'm not Asking for Hope

I'm not Asking for Hope (9492 words) by DamnthatGeko (if you know them here let me know and I will tag) Chapters: 2/2 Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Summary: There are three discreet hook closures that hold the collar of his shirt closed. He undoes them with deft movements to expose the column of his throat. He pauses after the last one, his eyes widening. Oh. Well, there we go, Essek thinks distantly. Like a tree growing deep roots into rich soil, there is a bloom of dark veins beneath his skin, just over his clavicle. He reaches a finger to touch it and finds his skin shockingly cold. Essek tries to say goodbye and fails miserably.

Why I liked it: It's the self loathing for me, the "I would rather die a horrible death than ask for help", the "I guess I will die and not think about the consequences or emotional impact on those around me" mess of an Essek vibe. This is a great shorter read and I love the several levels of emotional work that Essek goes through in this. As usual- yes it is a happy ending because I physically cannot handle hurt/angst for no reason.

2- Sleeping in the shadow of an other self

sleeping in the shadow of an other self (32857 words) by @nonwal Chapters: 10/10 Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Summary: Essek has a moment to consider that gravity-based trust exercises have never worked for him, and then the spell hits. He leans back into it, falls, falls. (In which Essek is resurrected by the Mighty Nein and framed for innocence.)

Why I loved this: Okay but this entire fic was a WHIRLWIND of emotions. I loved the moral dilemmas, the philosophical ponderings of what makes someone good or just, the heist feelings, and ultimately the end (even though it wrecked me to get there). I don't want to say too much here in case I spoil, but I totally recommend this read if you are interested in the Mighty Nein exploiting and using the loophole of a lifetime.

3- Time yields to no one (except for you and me)

Time yields to no one (except for you and me) (85178 words) by Chiakery (If you know them here let me know and I will tag them!) Chapters: 26/26 Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Summary: No matter what people say, Essek isn’t a god. As far as the proper classification goes, he’s not even a lesser idol. But he is a deity and the powers he possesses make people whisper his name like a prayer and seek his guidance in matters that transcend knowledge of mortal arcanists. But, in the end, it's always the same: they cower in fear before him as soon as they realise the size of destruction he’s capable of. There’s no reason to believe that Caleb Widogast would be any different. EDIT: Now with my version of Exandrian myth of creation with Luxon as the main star!

Why I vibe: I LOVE fics in which Essek is the champion - or something close to - of the Luxon and this one is especially wonderful. A deity who is painfully lonely (and a little evil), and a wizard who would quite literally trade their entire soul in exchange for knowledge (and attempt to trick a god). The way in which these two very broken people come in and out of one another's lives and find love and family in this longform fic has my entire heart. They both deserve so much love (and it does work out in the end even though it is a painful process!). I hope you enjoy at least one or all of these fics! __________________

and i was scared to comment on previous chapter but i can not say how beautifully it was done. i turned on chinese new year music and it was PERFECT! and plot twist... gahhhhh... i didnt suspect a thing!!!! the way you write xie lian condition and his feelings, i'm truly awed, the story composed perfectly

Ohhhhh yeah. I'm missing a ton; but here's a rough list of semi-recent favorites and I will try to reblog with any more I come up with later! Hopefully I will get my act together soon so I can write/post my first Kataang fic too ;)

Y'all know I'm a HUGE fan of @itsmoonpeaches and some of favorite Kataang works by them are helpless (I am so into you), A Breath of Sky, The Soul-Farer, and Threads of Fate but they have TONS of fabulous Kataang fics to choose from so please peruse at your leisure!

look into your eyes (and the sky's the limit) by oreocheesecakes: “If it takes fighting a war for us to meet, it will have been worth it,” he said with a smile, his eyes never leaving hers. A fluffy in-universe Kataang AU where Aang saves the world without her, and they meet after the war instead. If you’ve ever wanted to read love at first sight Kataang, pining!Katara, and smack in the middle of charming and dorky!Aang, this might be up your alley. Inspired by the song “Helpless” from Hamilton." - AS CUTE AND FLUFFY AS APPA

No One Else in the World by BaSingSeSocialite: "On a vacation to Kyoshi Island after the end of the war, Aang reflects and muses." - very much in tone with the show, feels so much like an episode. Really great descriptions of waterbending too, which is SO tricky to write! Honestly all their Kataang Week 2022 works are great.

and my voice becomes the driving force by @thinkingisadangerouspastime: "Katara hates the quiet. That’s why she talks to him." - as they say in the notes, it's more of a Katara character study BUT explores what Aang means to her in a beautiful and deep way!

Speaking of @thinkingisadangerouspastime ...I also recommend broken pieces still belong (AMAZING exploration of Katara's character and her "emotional journey from the events of "The Western Air Temple" to those of "The Southern Raiders," as she experiences firsthand both the challenges and rewards of forgiving others (and perhaps even learns to forgive herself along the way)"; Exposition (incredibly inventive AUs!!!!! Like some of the most fascinating I've ever seen!!!); Love of My Life (a *chef's kiss* Katara and Aang reunion after the final battle that's filled to the brim with tension); and we have all eternity (to love the dead) (a remarkable take on the soulmates au).

Getting Even by SilverThunder: "Sometimes the most important thing is just settling the score - and Katara has some catching up to do." - One of the earlier Kataang fics (2012!!) but captures the playful flirtiness between them super well and the dialogue is so in character!

The Riot's Gone by margaerystark: "It didn't work. Katara clutched the amulet of spirit water to her chest, her heart pounding against her knuckles. The moment her fingers left Zuko's face - revealing unchanged, leathery skin - was the moment she knew she had made a mistake. The properties that the water once held were gone, and Zuko's scar hadn't even been healed." Katara goes through with using the spirit water from the oasis on Zuko's scar and bears the consequences." - SUCH a cool, unique AU and I love how it focuses on Katara's deep love for Aang through the lens of almost losing him

you cut through all the noise by wanderinghooves: "A year is such an excruciatingly long time. Aang is sent abroad for a year of diplomacy while Katara helps to rebuild at home. Distance makes the heart grow lonely." - Characterization and descriptions were GORGEOUS, and captured that deep love loyalty of Kataang that makes it such an everlasting romance.

teach me to live my life (because i can’t remember how) by @northerngoshawk (another one that is very much a Katara character study and helps paint a more nuanced picture of Kataang’s bond and their relationship dynamic imo) and their other fic gods don’t bleed (except you do): “Katara always thought that being the Avatar meant being a god. She learns from Aang that she is wrong.”

blue ribbons by OceanMyth: “Katara has always been fascinated with Aang's tattoos. In which old scars are healed, and broken tattoos are mended.” - Made me tearbend! I’ve never seen anyone write the take that Aang’s tattoos could be mended after he is scarred and I adore it so much. They have tons of short drabbles that are Kataang-centric too, so if you prefer short & sweet this is the person to go to!

Thank you so much to @kennedy-brooke for tagging me, I hope I did this right (I have zero competence) I hope you guys know that when you tag me in these I totally kick my feett and giggle I get so tickled.🖤

1) What’s your favourite SJM book? A Court Of Silver Flames, that book literally changed my life

2) Which is your favourite series (tog, acotar or cc) Oh my god, it depends on what I last read, which right now is ACOTAR but TOG is my baby

3) Who is your favourite character? (And why?) Nesta and how much time do you have? I'll say this, I'm Nesta through and through, I had a friend who once said I looked like her. Nesta is how I feel about myself and seeing her working towards being better makes me want to be better too.

4) Do you have a favourite quote from one of the books? "So Nesta had become a wolf. Armed herself with invisible teeth and claws, and learned to strike faster, deeper, more lethally. Has relished it. But when the time came to put away the wolf, she found it had devoured her too."

5) Favourite ship? I'm going with Nessian or Rowaelin because I hope I can find someone that sees all of me and chooses to love me anyways too one day :)

6) Elriel or Gwynriel? Or neither? If you're holding a pew pew to my head I'm going Gwynriel. Because I love Lucien too much. but honestly neither.

7) Who’s the most underrated SJM character? This is SUCH a hot take but Tharion Ketos. Has he had his moments recently? yeah. But the way that guy flirts? Oh I would be giggling and kicking my feet.

8) Which character do you wish to learn more about? Eris Vanserra, did I tear him to shreds in my Cassian series? yes. Do need him in a carnal way? Absolutely. I just know he's got shit going on.

9) Are there any characters you don’t like? Ithan Holstrom and I have beef...

10) Favourite bat boy? Shoot me it would hurt less. Honestly I think if I was in a room with them and none of them had mates I'd run to Rhys first. He's a scorpio and so am I (shocker) so I know we would vibe. but on the official mate quiz I got Azriel so???

11) Favourite court?/ Which one would you most like to live in? I'm a night owl (but y'all knew that) and a scorpio, so either night court or autumn but honestly, I think autumn.

12) Favourite SJM villain? Arobynn Hamel, simply because I think good villains are people you absolutely despise and I would find so much catharsis from curb stomping him.

13) If you could change one thing in any of the books what would it be? Might be a hot take but the Nyx plotline. It makes no sense for Rhys and Feyre to be like "we have all the time in the word" and then decide they want a baby right after. like what?

14) Favourite SJM theory? That Ruhn is a shadowsinger (maybe this isn't a theory but I have a fic coming about it soon so shut up)

15) Favourite Archeron sister? I think we all know...Nesta

16) A character you feel is over-hated/ underrated: I can't say my real answer or y'all will kill me so I'm gonna say Tharion Ketos again.

27) If you could only write for one character ever again, who would you pick? Azriel, he's just such an easy guy to write for right now, and I think people like reading Azriel fics the most.

28) Whats your favourite trope to write about when it comes to Azriel? Reader being Rhysand's sister, I will literally make the reader Rhys' sister in every fic Idgaf, I want our girl to be a pretty princess. and the on top of that JEALOUSY.

firstly i apologize for how long this is going to be 😭

i was so emotional as i read attention cuz i just KNEW that there would be an ending eventually, and ofc, i never wanted attention to end. but you wrapped it up SOOOO beautifully! i feel so bad that i can't capture HOW amazing of a read that was in words!! trust me, attention means so so much to me. whenever i thought "i can't wait until chapter 6 comes out!" my anxiety kicked in because i knew that when chapter 6 came out.... it would be over. and that day is here

reading this was like eating your favorite chocolate. every single bite being enjoyable... something you'd think back on days later and crave for more. never getting tired of it.

honestly, its amazing how there is SO much creativity and wonderful fanfics on tumblr... for free? ITS INSANE. as i was reading it i kept saying "this is crazy!" i mean, i couldn't believe?? the plot twist?? the dialogue?? the pacing?? the list could go ON! forever. also you are SO sweet and kind 🫶🫶

i honestly thought she would be furious about what happened to greene... like my jaw dropped as SOON as her mom told her that he was sent to be a peacekeeper. at that moment i KNEW it was all snows fault. i seriously felt like it was over for them... like a whole fight scene was about to take place and she would move out, leading to snow being destroyed, alone, teary eyed and begging her to stay... that wouldve crushed me. i'm so glad she felt the complete opposite.

it's was SO interesting to think back on and see her progress. at first she was desperate, trying to win snow over by playing his games, trying to turn the tables and make snow become weak for her. but eventually she got the idea, and now SHE dominates HIM. it was neat seeing things come full circle!! now he's getting a taste of his own medicine (pun intended?)!!

also medicine is like... god i mean, do i even??? one of my top harry songs. SO GOOD!!!! do you also listen to him?? if so i can recommend other (more unknown) songs of his that give the same vibe if you'd like!

i am REALLY excited for your future works!!!! i admire your writing style and how talented you are. tbh you're the reason i'm inspired to start my own fanfic. but honestly, i'm scared because it is SO difficult thinking of a good storyline and plot... my brain is blank. i feel like every thing i think of sounds generic and cliche which puts me in a writers block. (do you have any tips?)

i read this first thing yesterday and it MADE MY WHOLE DAY i swear. like im so happy you enjoyed the fic so much, this is so much more than i could ever hope for as a response and it means the world to me that you’d set aside time to type out such a sweet message. it’s bittersweet to say goodbye to attention bc it is The Fic that brought me into this fandom (and out of my fic writing block) and it means so much to me bc it’s been so fun and it makes me so happy to know people feel that way when reading it. i had the final line written since (chapter 3?? i think) so i always knew that’s how i’d close it off and it was SO satisfying getting to type that last line in.

also it was sooo much fun to write her little mastermind by taylor swift moment (what if i told you none of it was accidental etc etc) and also yes omg i love harry (mostly his unreleased songs tbh!! like baby honey, medicine, talk, complicated freak) and ofc the usual suspects like kiwi and sign of the times and harry’s house. i am so so open to more song recs!! esp unreleased or lesser known ones!

in terms of writing tips, i wrote down a little thing a while back here but my main thing is to write what you want to read. that’s all i’ve ever done in fic and personal writing projects/poetry of mine. if you write for only yourself you can never go wrong imo, everything else is just topping. so start there, doesn’t matter if it’s been done before, so long as it makes you happy!! (one day i should tell the story of my first fic that actually got read by people online it was a whole journey that started with me assuming nobody would ever see it but me)

A Captain Swan Tale

After a workout one night, Killian’s close friend and colleague pokes fun as he points out the scratches along his back, sarcastically wondering who could have put them there and why. Killian refuses to answer for two reasons: 1) he will do everything in his power to ensure that no one ever finds out that he’s sleeping (read: in love) with his boss’s younger sister, and 2) while he happens not to mind the marks she gives him, he really isn’t sure why Emma Swan does that.

A/N: affectionately known as "scratchy emma fic" and "do swans have talons?" this fic features mild mentions of scratching during sex, plus some mild whump. My thanks, as always, to @the-darkdragonfly and @donteattheappleshook for just generally everything, but also specifically for their help on this fic and everything I write.

She likes him.

She likes it when he takes her from behind, when he lets her take control on top, when he drives into her with her knees cradling his hips. She likes it when they’re on their sides with him tucked behind her, she likes it when he’s standing at the foot of the bed with her at his mercy beneath him, flat on her back. She likes it when he takes her against the wall, quick and hasty and desperate with his need for her. She liked that last night, anyway.

In all that he’s learned about her, the one thing that sticks out the most is that she likes him. She likes the way he touches her, the way he talks to her, the way he treats her. At least, he assumes she does. Not because she tells him so, but because of the way she clings to him, digs the tips of her fingers into his skin and scratches him because she can’t come up with another way to ground herself through the pleasure he brings her. And even though it hurts, he doesn’t care. He encourages it, in fact, biting her earlobe and telling her what the feeling of her nails in his skin does to him before he marks her collarbone and thrusts harder.

She leaves his place later and later each time, delaying the inevitable need to return to her own for fear of the backlash she’ll receive if she spends the night out. She may be an adult, free to make her own choices, but it doesn’t change the fact that she’ll be on the receiving end of some questioning glances she’d rather avoid. But despite that fact, she’s stopped sneaking away when he dozes off. She’s even started to bid him farewell with a soft smile as she buttons her jeans.

He loves her.

He’s certain of it, although perhaps she would tell him that it’s too soon to be. And perhaps she’d be right. But he doesn’t care. And he’ll keep this fact to himself until the point at which he’s certain she can handle hearing the words passing his lips and pressing themselves against her tattered heart.

“Good god, mate.”

He turns, surprise in his eyes when he faces his friend and colleague and is met with his shocked, horrified expression.

“What?”

He knows he’s red and sweaty after a workout, but it can’t be anything different from how he always looks when they return to the locker room.

“I mean, were you attacked?”

Bloody hell. The blush is unstoppable as it creeps up his neck and across his cheeks, burning him from the inside out as he realizes he’s removed his shirt and exposed himself as the apparent freak he’s become since he started fucking Emma Swan.

Perhaps fucking isn’t the right word. But that’s what she’d prefer to call it– for now.

“Sergeant, did you realize there were mountain lions in Boston?”

“What are you talking about now, Scarlet?” the sergeant asks, his head pointed down at his phone as he makes his way through the gym’s locker room towards his belongings.

“Jones’ got himself involved with a right nympho, that’s all,” he says with a smirk, and Killian's eyes widen almost painfully as he tugs his undershirt on as quickly as he can.

“What Jones does on his own time is his business,” David responds without lifting his head and without knowing that it’s not always on his own time. “Thanks for the workout, boys, but I’m late for dinner with my sister.”

Will hums happily, a smirk toying at his mouth. “And no man should keep her waiting. Although I’m quite sure she’d never allow a man to–”

He’s silenced immediately when Killian’s button down hits him square in the face. “Shut up,” he commands, rolling his eyes. “That’s… the sergeant’s sister. Bloody hell.”

The Promises We Keep

At twelve-years-old (she thinks), a young, homeless Emma Swan meets a slightly older, homeless Killian Jones. From there, they continue to help each other until they can't any longer. All she can hope for is that they'll eventually find their way back to one another.

By the age of twelve, Emma Swan felt like she had lived countless lifetimes.

At least, she assumes she was twelve. She kind of has to guess on her birthday so she also has to guess on her age.

At the ripe age of twelve, she had grown used to fending for herself, foraging for food whenever she could, learning the best spots to find the leftovers that closing restaurants throw away, avoiding the dangerous shelters. She had learned where it’s safest to sleep, avoiding the unsavory characters about the city and keeping herself as protected as she could.

And at the ripe age of twelve, she learned never to trust anyone.

Well, anyone but Killian Jones.

It started with her sharing with him, helping him, as if she had anything to spare. She saw the way he shivered violently on the ground near her that night and wondered for a long time if he was just like everyone else she had come across since she had found herself there, under a bridge with a gloating view of the Space Needle. But the more she looked at him, the longer she spent taking in the way he shook and whimpered and tried to steady his breathing, she just knew. That boy wasn’t high, he was sick. He was very sick.

She had walked over to him and noticed the way the paper covering his body rustled as his body quivered with fever. He was curled in the fetal position, and she could only assume that his back must have been hurting from how tense his body was. He was suffering so much more than anyone she’d ever met beneath that bridge. She had never seen anyone here curled so desperately close to the fire in the trashcan and still so obviously cold. Once, before she ran away, a foster mother had given her ibuprofen for a fever and she remembers wishing that she had some to give him in that moment.

All that she had that night was a ratty blanket and a stale chunk of bread. When she walked over to him and crouched by his side, she saw the way his blue eyes stared into hers, bloodshot and puffy, though his face was sallow. She noticed the way that his skin was pale white, his lips drained of any color. She noticed the way his cheekbones poked out dramatically and wondered when the last time he ate could have been.

“If I’m i-in your sp-spot, I’m sorry,” he started. “I-I ca-can move.”

“Stay,” she said. “You’re not in my spot.”

All she remembers is thinking about how that boy cowering too close to the fire with nothing to keep him warm as he wasted away with a fever would probably die that night. For a second, she had wondered if it was worth it to help him if he wouldn’t make it through the night anyway. But then she unfolded her tattered blanket and placed it over him, over the newspapers because she had heard that it makes for good insulation. She tucked the blanket around him tightly, and when she touched him, she swore she felt nothing but bone and heat. And then she took out the stale chunk of bread and ripped off a tiny piece, offering it directly to his pallor lips.

She won’t ever forget the look in his eyes when he parted his lips. He never once stopped staring at her, not for the first bite, not when he let out a sigh of relief as he started to feel a semblance of satisfaction, not when she took a few bites for herself.

“How long have you been sick?”

“A while,” he breathed, although he wasn’t stuttering as much now that the shivering had started to subside. “K-keeps getting worse.”

“You need medicine.”

“Yeah,” he scoffed, although perhaps the sound was more like another shiver. “You t-try getting so-some.”

It’s true, it wasn’t easy to come by. But he needed it if he planned on surviving the night with the way his fever seemed to be climbing and climbing. So she left, left him with her blanket and her bread and brought her crappy old backpack with her. She snuck through the streets and found a pharmacy that was open late. She found a bottle of water that cost a dollar and snuck the ibuprofen into her sleeve, paying for the water with the last of the loose change she had in her pocket. When she returned, he was still, dead asleep, and she wasn’t sure that was a good sign.

It was always a bad idea to fall asleep, or at least to do so as soundly as the boy was when she returned. It looked at first like he may have died while she was gone, but when she got close to him, she could see the way he was still breathing shortly, still shivering, although the blanket and food seemed to have helped.

“Wake up,” she had insisted, and while her words were short, the way she shook his shoulder was gentle. “Take this.”

“H-how– why are y-you doing-ng this?”

She didn’t know. She couldn’t answer. She handed him the pills and the water, but she took it back when he was done and finished it herself. Then she lied beside him, not too close because she had suddenly realized that she didn’t want to catch whatever he had. She watched him until he fell asleep again, the shivering finally stopping altogether, and then she fell asleep herself.

While she thought she was being safe, sleeping lightly so that she would wake with any movement near her, she woke the next morning with the blanket spread over her and the boy and the ibuprofen nowhere to be seen.

Emma Swan has never been the type of girl to have an incurable crush on a boy. She survived middle and high school with only one memorable infatuation, Neal Cassidy eventually proving himself to be a giant asshole. She lived through her first year of college dating only one human man. At least, Walsh seemed human enough before they got together. By the time she got anywhere near ready to take the next step and sleep with him, he had proven himself to be yet another giant asshole. And now, as a junior in college, who has real friends and a somewhat real job, she’s realizing that the territory also comes with something she’s feared her whole life: she’s fallen in love.

Graham Humbert is a perfect man, she’s learned. He’s handsome, he’s kind, he respects her… his only flaw is that he doesn’t seem to be able to get it through his beautiful, curly head that she loves him. They work together in the campus security office, usually spending the Thursday through Saturday night shifts together since no one else is willing to work at such god awful times. Her unwillingness to tell him how she feels is likely impacting the fact that he stubbornly refuses to recognize it, but unwilling she is. She’s already decided that she needs to get him to fall for her, and everything will fall into place naturally after that without her having to lift a finger.

And, of course, there's the other dilemma that has plagued her throughout her life-- well, her teenage-through-adult life. Painfully and against her will, Emma Swan is a virgin.

She has needs and desires and thoughts and curiosities, but she also has fear and anxiety and a stark sensitivity to rejection, and for this, she’s decided that no man that she’s ever met has been worth her time or her body. Of course, she almost thought that Neal would be, but he proved himself otherwise when he left her to find her own ride home from the carnival after she refused to sleep with him in the port-a-potty. And then there was Walsh, who flirted with her for weeks and then became violently angry when she turned him down after their first date. So yes, Emma Swan is a virgin, but it’s because she has standards.

Of course, all was well and good until that fateful night in the office with Graham. It was well after midnight, the phones hadn’t rung in over an hour, and all they could do to entertain themselves was play truth or dare. She’ll admit to flirting with him, giggling at everything he said and blushing and biting her bottom lip, but part of her thinks that she led him on. When he leaned in and kissed her, she kissed him back enthusiastically and knew in that moment that she was leading him on. When his hands laced through her hair at the back of her head and pulled her closer to him, and when his tongue poked out and stroked against her own, and when he let out a groan from the back of his throat, she knew what she had done.

He told her that she was good at that-- at kissing him, at turning him on, if the bulge was anything to go by-- and she felt guilty. Because she isn’t very good at that. She’s kissed boys before, she’s had makeout sessions before, but she has no idea what she’s doing at any given moment. And when he broke away from her, panting and licking his lips and laughing breathily, he told her, I don’t want to rush things-- I feel like what we have is special-- but I can’t wait to see what else you have in store.

And he’s right, of course; it could be special. It could be good, if she knew what she was doing. Part of her was able to trick him into thinking that she’s remotely experienced in how to make things between them… work. But in reality, she knows nothing. She knows what to do for herself, by herself, but she has no idea what to do with another person.

So here she is, panicked and desperate.

Please. Please, Killian, pleeease? Please, i need you.

This is insane. I can’t even tell if you’re serious or not.

I’m completely serious! I need help!

No. I’m not going to lose my best friend over something this crazy.

Well i’m not going to have a good time with any other guys if i don't know what i’m doing!

So you’re really going to pass up this amazing opportunity to not only get laid but also make your best friend extremely happy?

He never liked the whole Pomp and Circumstance thing, mostly because he never really got it. Sure, graduating is a big deal, especially for someone who stayed back not once, but twice, but is the whole excessive grandeur thing really necessary? He’s never thought so.

That is, until it was almost graduation day, and Chrissy fucking Cunningham started playing the song, all excited for him to walk across the stage. All four movements, baby, she had said. And ever since then, it’s been stuck in his head.

He didn’t even know what a movement was until he met Chrissy Cunningham. Scratch that– until he started to get to know Chrissy Cunningham. More specificallly, until he started to fuck Chrissy Cunningham.

And of course, they were never just fucking. They’ve always been making love to one another, the passion between them almost nauseating each time they come together, each time they so much as see one another. Honestly, it’s miraculous no one’s figured it out by now, although that’s probably more related to the fact that not a single person in this god forsaken town could imagine a girl like Chrissy Cunningham sleeping with a guy like Eddie Munson.

Never mind actually, maybe, in a way, falling for him.

Either way, though, here they are.

Chrissy, with shimmery green pigment on her eyelids, and Eddie, finally knowing what the hell a movement is.

Her lesson did help, of course. She was so excited to find out that he was actually, officially graduating, that she found her mother’s cassette of the damn song and brought it over, playing it on a loop as she rode him until she screamed in time with the fourth movement. Now, the fourth movement happens to be his favorite.

Plus, she helped him get here, anyway. She told him, If you don’t blow Ms. O’Donnell’s final, I'll blow you.

She was high at the time, which was why she was being so goofy, but she did end up keeping her promise when he squeaked by with a C+.

Her name is called first, C coming before M, which he knows because he’s technically a high school graduate at this point. When she walks across the stage and accepts the diploma from Mr. Higgins, he screams so loudly that he can see her round cheeks blushing from his seat, her eyes rolling and her smile beaming while everyone else in his row gives him a look of horror and confusion.

And when he walks across stage, he can hear the shouts from his uncle Wayne, the whistles from the Hellfire Club, and the soft, familiar tune of Pomp and Circumstance playing from her Walkman, volume turned all the way up and still barely audible over the chorus of cheers and boos, her face lit up like a Christmas tree. She was so proud of him that he knew beyond the shadow of a doubt that this was all worth it.

It’s worth it again as he finds himself in the back of his van, Chrissy Cunningham fumbling with the buttons of his stupid shirt beneath the stupid robe, her breathing quick and panting and desperate as she presses her hips against his fingers. “Fuck,” she says. “I’m so proud of you.”

“Chrissy,” he scolds playfully. “You’re not one to curse. What’s gotten into you?”

“Hopefully you, if you wouldn’t mind hurrying up.”

“Well, I certainly wouldn’t mind, of course, but I’d want to ensure that that’s exactly what my sweet, innocent girlfriend truly wants.”

“Is sweet and innocent really what you want?” she asks, moving her hand from his last few buttons down to his crotch over the stupid dress pants she begged him to wear. They’ll look so nice, Eddie, she pleaded, and he couldn’t possibly say no to those big doe eyes. “Or would you prefer your desperate, needy, very proud girlfriend?”

He lets out a groan as she slides down the zipper of his slacks, her soft hand finding its way into his boxer briefs, the ones she got for him because she told him it would be best if whatever he was wearing under his slacks wasn’t baggy. Of course, the sensation of the tighter fabric is entirely new against the part of him that needs her the most, and she seems to know it, grasping onto him just right and smirking against his neck.

“Well?” she asks, and he realizes he never did answer her.

Witness

After the worst night of his life, Killian goes into the Witness Protection program and moves to Maine until he can testify against the man who took everything from him. He had resigned himself to living a life of misery, pain, and heartbreak, but that all changed when he met Lily Quinn.

A/N: I finally finished this one!! It's not perfect by any means, but I'm honestly just patting myself on the back for completing it, at this point. It's not beta'ed and I probably haven't proofread it enough, so if you see any typos or notice any continuity errors, no you didn't.

Also, this is the 50th, yes FIFTIETH, Captain Swan fic that I've posted on Ao3. There isn't much I can say about that other than thank you to everyone in this incredible fandom who has encouraged me to explore writing and discover how much I love it. Thank you especially to @the-darkdragonfly and @donteattheappleshook for always being there for me in every capacity and for supporting me through thick and thin.

The pain is unlike anything he’s ever felt before and is likely to ever feel again, lest he lose another appendage. It burns and stings and throbs and stabs all at once, and it drives him mad as he looks down and remembers that there’s nothing there. There’s no hand to be hurting him as he bites into his bottom lip and doubles over, holding his empty wrist in his one remaining hand. There's no reason for him to be feeling this way, and yet he feels as though he’s lost the hand all over again.

He doesn’t remember what it felt like to lose it in the first place, but it must have been something like this. Leaning over his ledgers upon his pathetically small desk, he tries to remind himself that there’s nothing there anymore. He shouldn’t be hurting like this, not now that it’s gone. He tells himself to get over it, snap out of it, he’s being foolish. He lets out a pained gasp as he puts his stubbed arm on the surface of the desk and picks up a pen, staring down at the empty space where his hand should be before taking a breath and sending the pen forcefully through the air, into the grainy wood, missing the hand that he lost months ago.

The burning subsides when he does this, as if him telling his mind that it isn’t there, that it doesn’t matter anymore, isn’t enough; as if he has to see it for himself to believe his own thoughts. It happens frequently– frequently enough for him to consider himself crazy on a several-times-weekly basis. He’s just lucky that he doesn’t share this cramped office with anyone, that he’s usually left alone to do his work in peace, just the way he likes it. He’s lucky that he lives alone, that he has no one to watch him go through the lunacy of feeling pain in a hand that doesn’t exist. He’s lucky that he’s always alone. He’s lucky to have lost everything and everyone, because at least he doesn’t have to force someone he loves to live through this with him.

At least, that’s what he tells himself as he pulls the pen from the shallow hole he punched into the wood and returns it to the cup where it belongs.

He’s making an effort not to become the town drunk.

His father was the town drunk, and he’s always hated his father.

So when he goes to the Rabbit Hole, he likes to keep it to once a week, maybe less. He likes to keep it to two drinks, maybe three. He likes to keep control over himself so that no one in this tiny place starts to see him as the town drunk. They already see him as the strange, handless recluse, and he doesn’t feel the need to move into town drunk-territory.

But when he walks into the Rabbit Hole that night, just a few months after his arrival, he considers changing his ways if only in response to seeing the stunning, glowing blonde behind the bar for the first time.

She truly is glowing. She emanates beauty and exudes perfection as she stands behind the bar, somehow catching the perfect lighting, her bare arms toned as she pours a beer flawlessly, her hair gleaming under the dim light fixture, her smile shimmering despite the darkness in the bar. She laughs at her patron, Leroy telling her a joke that Killian can almost certainly bet was not funny. She throws her head back and he nearly salivates at the sight of her bare neck. She turns from the grumpy old man and adds the pour to his tab and then she turns again, locking eyes directly with Killian before giving him the most beautiful, sexy, friendly smile he’s ever received.

“Welcome in,” she says, her voice like bells as it rings through the bar, cutting against the loud music and the even louder laughter from the party at the pool table. “What can I get you?”

He’s almost stunned silent, stupidly standing there with his mouth hung open like a trout until he gets his bearings, tugging on the sleeves of his gray knit sweater and shuffling towards the bar. Get it together, you old fool, he tells himself, cursing as he trips over his own feet but praising himself as the sight draws a soft giggle from the angel of a woman.

“Rum,” he says idiotically, and she raises a brow.

“Just rum, neat? On the rocks? Or a shot?”

He clears his throat. What will she think of him ordering just rum, neat? Or a shot? “Might as well throw in some Coke and ice, I suppose,” he chokes out, fighting through the awkwardness that he hasn’t felt since high school.

She laughs. It seems genuine, but she must treat all of her customers like this, right? “A rum and Coke then, coming right up. Do you like lime?”

“Yes,” he says, although he can’t really remember if he does or not. He pulls on his left sleeve as he sits down, far from Leroy. His elbow rests on the bartop, and if he had a hand, it would drop between himself and the surface he leans against. “Sure. Please.”

She works quickly, and he tries and tries not to look at the way her black tank top hugs her waist. He tries not to notice the way that there aren’t any lines along her back and he tries not to wonder whether she’s wearing a bra beneath it. He tries not to notice the way her jeans hug her hips and flare out just slightly, elongating her legs impossibly. Really, he really tries not to stare. Seriously.

“There you go,” she says with a bright smile. “Want to open a tab?”

He says nothing, dropping his bum arm and using the other to fish his wallet out of his back pocket, pulling out the credit card David gave him and handing it to her without a second thought. Normally, he wouldn’t open a tab. Opening a tab is something the town drunk would do– or at least running up the tab is. But how can he say no to the siren standing before him?

hi caroline may i ask you some beyond evil fic recs? i read yours and now I'd like to know some of your favorites, only if you'd be comfortable with it tho of course! 🎀

of course, anon! almost all of my bookmarked fics count as recs, so if you're ever looking for some more than the ones i've listed, feel free to peruse through them as well! but here are some that i find myself going back to a lot:

general/teen rating:

the topography of your touch by pepperfield: "After returning to Manyang, Ju-won navigates the ways bodies can interact. Dong-sik adjusts accordingly."

a really lovely character study into dong sik and his relationships. there are some absolutely poetic lines in this story, and perhaps one of the loveliest first kiss scenes that i've read. (i was kicking my feet and giggling through this one, and this story is also just so . . . quiet? in a really lovely way.)

the way home by whir: "Juwon breaks himself apart and puts himself back together, then he returns to Manyang thinking he’s found his way home. In part, it’s true. He’s just wrong about one thing—home doesn’t have to be a place. Sometimes, it can exist in a person. And it’s unfortunate, because Dongsik starts feeling a lot like home."

one of the first beyond evil fics i read, so this one has a special place in my heart! 16k words of a character study on han joo won working through his feelings about dong sik and also, really, what it means to actually have a home. also some stuff about joo won reflecting on his mom too, which is something that really touched my heart. past relationships affecting your perception of your present, etc, etc.

and i watch you breathe, as i stood breathing by @electricalkittens / satiricalsmiles on ao3: “Han Juwon, you…” Dongsik’s voice is growing smaller, and it is wavering, trembling in the hollowness of his throat. “Why do you keep getting hurt lately?”

okay, so i actually love all of her works, so i do seriously recommend just going through all of her stories, just because the writing is very poetic and makes me see shrimp colors. but i really do adore this one, just because something about feeling like you need to punish yourself, something about not having the best coping mechanisms in the world, something something about i think about that one scene towards the end where i thought oh, god, that’s what it looks like to love someone desperately and mm. i can go on about this fic for a while, but i feel like it’s one of those beyond evil starter pack fics because it really gets at what their future might look like.

to the stars by merryofsoul: Juwon has never gotten along with Dongsik. Not since the first day he stepped foot on the Gaenari almost a year ago.An away mission changes that.

god bless this writer because STAR TREK JWDS AU . . . STAR TREK JWDS AU . . . admittedly a little niche, but i don’t think you need to be incredibly well-versed in star trek in order to appreciate this absolute delight of a fic. but you see, i was a star trek girlie at some point in my life, so i was so delighted to read this story . . . because listen. it’s got the classic enemies to lovers element, but also lots of away mission shenanigans in “i am going to pretend that we are lovers for the sake of covering our asses” trope and also the “i can’t stand your ass but also if anything happens to you i would be outrageously upset” beat and i literally had assignments to work on but as soon as i saw this fic i could not resist reading and giggling over it, what a fun ride.

netflix and chill by starlight bloom: Dong Sik invites Joo Won to Netflix and chill. Turns out they have very different definitions of the expression.

if you’re in the mood for something really just. hilarious and cute. i highly recommend this one, because i could not stop giggling when i read this the first time. a very lighthearted read, and also, there’s something very hilarious about joo won panicking inside because “oh god i am screwed” and dong sik being like “???? !!!! ?!?!?!!??!”. i think we, as a fandom, need to realize that dong sik and joo won also just. very funny when they’re around each other. this fic delivers on that count!

mature/explicit:

cosmonauts by @b1uetrees / bluetrees on ao3: “ To promise a future is impossible. To choose it is to live.”

i also recommend going through all of this writer’s works, because they’re all so . . . good and tender and gentle and they make my heart sing. i have a special place in my heart for this fic in particular though, just because i think when i first read it, it was like. 4 am. and i was getting ready for the day and this fic had me in such a chokehold that i literally couldn’t do anything for the next 3 hours and then i remember scrambling because shit, i have to go to class--

what isn’t the grave by isozyme: “Juwon moves in unannounced.”

this is one of those fics that i kinda had to force myself to read super slowly, just because i wanted to digest every single sentence and turn it around in my head for a little bit. also, perhaps one of my favorites just because this fic really looks at dong sik and goes “oh yeah, this guy absolutely isn’t going to heal immediately”, and i sort of adore it for that exact reason. dong sik still feels very much so wobbly around the edges in this fic, and that’s like. what i adore. also, there’s one specific image in this fic that has been haunting me ever since.

no son of mine by ripeteeth: "What do you want from me?" Juwon asked, and no one has ever said just you. “

do mind the tags on this one!

but god. god i remember when i read this fic for the first time, it unlocked some kind of emotion that i didn’t even realize was sitting there lololol--but anyways! perhaps one of the most . . . most character study on han joo won. a lot of quiet stuff about joo won and his relationship with his dad specifically, so you know it’s going to really hit where it hurts. and, of course, a lot of joo won in post-canon not knowing how to navigate his relationship with dong sik (ah, yes. the quiet fear and wariness that comes with examining love but if the version of love you grew up with comes with conditions and etc, then what the hell do you do when legitimate love decides to eat at your table?)

to the sun and all the cities in between by 64907: “ Han Joowon and all his firsts after, shared with Lee Dongsik and fondly remembered. “

this fic just . . . . .. i felt like it really re-awakened some of my love for joo won and dong sik, just because it had been a hot second since i read a fic that really examined dong sik and joo won’s relationship as it’s trying to like . . . wiggle through what it might look like post-canon. also, this fic really utilizes how joo won has absolutely or most likely never been in a romantic relationship ever, and there’s something so endearing about that? just like, the slow development of a relationship and joo won and dong sik trying to figure out the odds and ends with that because this is still ultimately new to both of them, and this fic just makes me so happy for them. you’ve got time and etc. :’)

Hi Devi!!! Glad to see you're back. This is such an honor, really.

Oh gods, I'm so so sorry for your bad day. *hugs* :( I hope whatever made you sad will end soon and you might find joy again. I deeply apologize for the late replies, I was kinda occupied at the moment and it took me quite an effort to dig up. :(( This might be a little too late but I'll just leave the fluff and humor you've required here, in case anything happens again and you need some comfort!!

Warning: mainly Solangelo or Jasico, because honestly they are my comfort ships and I care not for something that doesn't involve Nico. With that being said, this list might include some other pairings tho since yes, Nico is a miracle as a side character as well.

With the Lights Off by nikkiRA (Solangelo, Modern AU, Aged-up, Implied sexual content): Nico and Will visits Nico's house to meet his family and supringly, an old-fashined Demeter. And now they have to pretend to be hetero because Nico isn't out to his step-grandmother yet. It's super funny. Nico def learns his sass from Hades. And Solangelo is just being sweet (and sexy, but nothing too graphic, don't worry!)

all i can think about is the taste of your lips on mine so kiss me 'til we're both blue by distantdreaming (Solangelo, Halloween theme, Modern AU): Literally just Will simping for Nico. A dose of implied intimate actions. The summary might sound strong but it's just for the first half. It's sweet, I promise.

The God Apollo - Probably the greatest father in the world by DorianWilde (Solangelo, starring an embarassing father Apollo, exasperated Will, Nico as the sassy victim/son-in-law): This is just Apollo trying to be get close to Will but he failed so he's just embarassing and unhelpful in the process. It's funny, in an exasperating way, if you will.

5 by buoyantsaturn (Solangelo, College AU): Again, literally Will simping for Nico. A little of obessed behaviors, but it's not like anything bad happens. This is so soft yet still passionate. Like an unfinished bedtime story - it lures you into sleep with all the sweet scenes and the cliffhanger that leaves you wanting for more. It eases my soul, really.

Nico di Angelo and the Imaginary Break-In by zjass06 (Solangelo, College AU, a sleep-deprived Nico and an intrudor Will with an asshole of a roomate (not Nico tho)): A little frustation at first (the roomate), cute, hilarious, Will is so stupid omg, Nico you need to sleep. All in all, they are lovely together. Also Will simps for Nico from the first sight and has a sugar rush btw.

Hold My Hand by mantisdick (Jercy + Solangelo, canon universe): Cute, soft and a little of humor. Percy's idea is weird but Jason doesn't regret. Nico is shy, Will is estatic, they are cute, so are Jasico's friendship. It's kinda healing so I hope it helps you.

Go with the flow of the snow by orphan_account (The beginning of Jasico, College AU, Nico is a cheeky little shit): This is so funny, Dev istg you have to read this, just because it makes my laugh everytime and Nico is cute and funny at the same time and there's a snowfight so even when Jason's freezing, I regret nothing.

head in the clouds, but my gravity's centered and covered in gold inside my head by ohmygodwhy (Jasico): Generally solf and sweet. Jason is a sap. Nico is happy and relaxed for once. I love both of this oneshots so much, Devie you have no idea. It heals my soul and mends my heart and Jasico stays in my heart as a blessing.

A New Chapter by LegendaryWrighter (Jercy, side Solangelo, Modern AU): It's brief but it has a plot, kinda angsty at first as Percy is brought into quite a predicament but he gets over it so I hope it's kinda inspirational? The reason I put it here is that Nico is friends with both Jason and Percy and it's super funny istg. I love the Nico in here. Also he's ridiculously rich, so there's that.

Shut Me Up by Pythia (melancholic_pigeon) (Jercy, side Solangelo, pure dialougue, se.xual content which I skip so I have no idea how graphic it is so pls be prepared): I have mentioned this once purely because the Nico in here is a sassy good friend and Will is sarcastic for once and poor my girl Reyna. It's kinda funny, ngl, but Jercy in here is kinda kinky and not childproof so I leave it at the end.
