hi i just wanted to pop into your asks because it'll take me a while to rb and get all of my thoughts out about the posts of yours that i read (and also i want to reread them) but I just wanted to say that I love how (from what I've seen of your works) you have such a good grasp of characters and their mannerisms/thoughts/feelings like- it's actually so impressive. I dont want to clog your inbox so I'll just focus on the aventurine hcs you wrote- he means a lot to me as a character and it feels like a lot of people miss the mark when it comes to him (I'm admittedly also very particular about him because I'm so invested in him as a person) (not to overexplain but it's not like thats a super bad thing he's just very convoluted and it happens so it makes sense that people sometimes mischaracterize him) but your headcanons fit him SO WELL i was kicking my feet and everything. Stuff like this is always so nice that I don’t know what to do with myself. It feels nice to have my efforts validated, because I really really really do try to be as accurate as possible to the character — even when the ask or the situation might make them be a little ooc.

With Aventurine, I took so much care because he is a character that means a lot to me. It took me a long long time of writing to get his headcanons done, and I’m still not satisfied with his but perfection is impossible.

To put it into perspective, my headcanons (ALL OF THEM) are written over a period of multiple days with multiple drafts, rewrites, and edits before I am totally satisfied. Other fics that I get out in a short period of time STILL take me multiple hours and rereads and edits before I put them out. I really do care, very very deeply about what I write.

Even with characters I’m not a fan of (like Malleus from twst, for example) I really try hard to do right. Because while he might not be my favorite, he IS someone’s and that should be enough for me to care. Putting my biases aside to write from canon is so important, and without shaming other authors (because they’re so incredibly talented too), I wish I saw that more in fanfic too.

That’s why I take so much time and care and dedicate so much to my work, because I care a lot. I’m always so happy when that care comes through and people see and feel it.

While I don’t get every ask done (because the volume of asks I have is impossible), the ones I do I make sure that they’re good, because they deserve to be.

also small announcement below the cut!!! especially considering ive been experimenting more with dead dove/nonconventional topics and themes.

first thing; i made a side blog for my dead dove and other extreme fics. the reason why i'm doing this is bc some people don't want to see that kind of stuff- and that's totally okay! and ik the filtering/blocking tags thing doesn't always work, especially for more "niche" topics.

i plan on branching out my repertoire by writing about topics that are "scary" or "new" to me- so this little counterpart to my blog will make it easier for me to post things that aren't typically sought after by the gen. pop. things like sickfics, whump, noncon, and other graphic or heavy themes.

in addition/addendum to that:

idk if this is common knowledge for any of my followers, moots, etc, but i have a severe phobia of vomit. like. huge. and at my big ass age of 21 (lol) i think it's time to start...getting through that fear. i've struggled with contamination OCD for a really long time and it's something i never thought id even try to overcome- but then i came across a creator on here who makes fetish art- which def wasn't something i was looking to encounter. but like a car crash, i couldn't stop looking at their work and i ended up coming across a post of theirs where they explain that they do what they do to get over their fear. at first i was fucking baffled as to how they couldn't manage to do that, but i get it now. taking something innately fucking horrifying and flipping the narrative so casually can be cathartic, and i finally after over a year of contemplation, gave it a whirl in my own writing. i mean, what better way to get over something by attacking it from my best angle??

typically this isn't something i'd ever consider doing. but...here we are. and i feel like im doing myself, and other people who feel the same way, a disservice by hiding this type of content in my notes app, never to be seen by anyone but me.

my blog has always been a safe space for the freaks and weirdos, and i want to keep facilitating that space while also keeping it enjoyable for all crowds. so by keeping a little separation between the two blogs, it'll ensure i feel comfortable, and others do too. i'm not gonna force everyone who follows me to come across some crazy fetish content they didn't sign up for, especially when previously i'd stated i don't write that kind of stuff. but alas people change and grow and i don't want to stifle myself from writing good things because im too afraid of judgement or my own insecurities.

i think kink is a very important thing in the fanfic world, because it allows the writer, as well as the audience, to connect on an even further level through the delivery of fetish content. as someone who hyperfixates on the development and accumulation of fetish and kinks, especially from a psychological level, this is something i was considering in the past- but not to this level, yk? like yeah, i could continue to just write sweet little hcs of softgaraki, and i love doing that, but also...like, i need these freak ass men to live their truths, and i need to live mine.

Dibble's wife is a bit uneasy around cats. She doesn't hate them, per se, but she's not exactly at ease around them either. Which makes for some...interesting convos

Dibble (and T.C.) nearly had a heart attack once when they realized Brain was sleeping under the police car's hood during a cold January morning. After giving Brain an earful, Top Cat turned to Dibble and started chewing HIM out, to which Dibble indignantly asked, "The heck did I do?! I'm as freaked as you are!"

Dibble can say whatever he wants - T.C. does know how to throw a fun yet super affordable Bingo party. Yes, he's not allowed to, technically, but when he does, a good number of people in the neighborhood do show up, and agree to 'forget' to tell Dib about it the next day

Excessive shedding is viewed in cat culture a lot worse than how humans view something like early baldness - they HATE it. And a cat afflicted will do EVERYTHING they can to reduce or reverse it. And like with claws, it's mortifying to even go to a doctor for it..

The cats are all rather independent, but if there's someone who's less okay with solitude and spending time alone, it's Choo Choo. He's chatty (shyness around girls is a different matter) and thrives on social interaction and physical closeness. He knows that the fastest way to form a bond with someone is to be open and vulnerable, which is true but something T.C. disapproves of and warns him about all the time. Sharing personal things about himself with anyone could bring in some real ugly people into his/their lives who'd use info against them

I'm the kind of creative who needs a non-creative, business-minded person to make sure things balance out. If it's all up to me, I'll create only the kind of work that I want and falls in line with my vision and creative integrity. I’ll ignore any budget in place and not care about any trends. Which would probably make my business partner(s) lose. Their. Hair XXD.

For example, a Top Cat movie by me has to be set before the mobile/internet era. I'm not budging on this, and me and business partner would probably battle with chairs in a mud pit over it XD. (I mean, if I were Christopher Nolan I'd probably be able to get away with whatever I want but since I'm not I gotta cater for the masses lol)

The movie would be less serious than CGaL, yet just a little bit darker than the OG series still. Each of the cats would have their time to shine for God's sake. And Dibble would actually have a personality.

Since it's a movie, it would be mostly action with a bit of drama. But if it's a series, it would instead be mostly drama with bits of action. Tbh it being a series (or a movie franchise?) would give me a lot more room to write and flesh out the characters better. I wouldn't create any crossovers or a cinematic universe with other HB cartoons, tho - it's a fun concept for sure but I wouldn't do it.

I'd rather the movie be in 2D, but if I went with 3D, I'd want nothing less than the badass cel-shaded look of Sonic x Shadow Generations: Dark Beginnings. GOD that's the stuff. I can't believe this was done in Blender it looks fanTASTIC

How did you come up with all of the Teletubby races and the headcanons that you have for the characters?

Let me think. The head canons probably came first and some probably are based on the TV show and some things on teletubbieshq. And some based on my siblings head canons. Like Miles and Conor being a package deal along with Anne. And Conor being so monotone.

As I worked making Laa-Laa a stronger character, and now I don't even control what her character even is anymore. And Richard being a silly guy with a love for bugs. I used to share the hc of Finn being tall and the more mature brother, but because of an incorrect quote I made, I knocked Finn down several pegs. Dipsy still is no Cancer though.

I don't exactly know why I made the races, the Widows, Wess, Suns, and Reps I based on the four's mutations.

I always knew the Black Cleaners was going to be a weird touchy subject to share with people. The Fluffs were I had to justify Guardian able to hold a chainsaw with his pathetic muscles. Chi really just translates into gore, the disgusting Teletubby creeps were always part of Lenny's hometown lore. I don't remember how I came up with the other stuff

At the start I made Noo-Noo abusive to everyone mainly because of the way Tinky speaks in the show. He says some words very differently than his friends.

Now he's not abusive, but he still doesn't like Dipsy.

Anyway- Hi!! Heey! Hope the writing is going well! That story sounds good (*sees HURT and MEL* *makes grabby hands*)

Ah yes world-building, my biggest writing frenemy... It's moments like this when I wish my hcs/lore was a little more structured (i def have some hcs that contradict each other; like how most of my fics have different demon features for Mel (in one of my current wips his blood is a color more similar to the red demon's than humans')). But let's see what I can pull out of the void 😅 And if not so much lore maybe I can offer some thoughts to (hopefully) guide you on your way?

(And when I say some I mean a whole fucking lot probably because I've got no self-control oops)

So. The 2 most solid hcs/lore pieces I've got (about the demons ofc because it's me lol) it about the demons' thermoregulation and their sleep. My demon thermoregulation is something I've used in a few of my fics (and that I kinda wished had a better origin than I wanna whump Mel with these 2 prompts but they're not compatible in the way I want so Imma change his whole physiology). It basically boils down to that demons are more connected with nature/the environment around them than humans, and therefore, are also more dependent on the environment. Maybe not cold-blooded in the way we might be used to, but always striving to maintain an optimal internal temperature (their temperature rising with the cold and falling with the heat, constantly compensating for the environment). That said, it's a fine line between maintaining an optimal temperature and overheating/freezing, especially in extreme temperatures.

My thoughts about demons' sleep contains 2 parts. Meliodas' sleep is fucked up by his upbringing. Demons also naturally follow a different sleep schedule than human (nocturnal?). Because they are a different race than humans, but also because not only is the Demon Realm a different place, it's literally a completely different realm! I'm not gonna go into the whole "we see 2 moons in the demon realm in Cursed by Light but apparently there's no day and night there yet at the same time it's a known fact that demons are much stronger at night" thing and just say that the Demon Realm is weird (from a human/non-demon realm native perspective).

Which is another point to consider. Because if the Demon Realm is weird to humans than Britannia must be weird to demons, right? And that's something you can do a lot with, if you just want to. The Demon Realm, and with it, the demons, aren't limited by human expectations and reality. We see in canon that demons and the demon realm don't always follow human possibilities, like being able to literally reattach limbs, or having seven hearts (or being able to sacrifice six hearts and still be alive), and the creatures that exist in that realm. One thing I like to ask myself when writing about demon characteristics/features or differences between the realms is what do I want to achieve? (oh god, I sound like my teacher - what is the point of this, what do we want to know...) What do these characteristics or lore or whatnot bring to the characters, the plot, and the story? Why is it important? Like take that example of Mel's blood I mentioned at the beginning. In that fic, one thing that is important to the progression of the story and the characters interactions is that Mel is toeing the line between human and definitely not human. Most people can tell that there is something "wrong" or off about him, like the color of his blood or how he looks like a literal child but can drink anyone under the tables or etc, etc, but not enough for people to point at him and scream demon. And all of this isn't about just physical or environmental things, but behaviors too.

Britannia is filled with different races! Demons and humans (and the other races) will react to things differently, have different thought processes and behaviors. Like *gently holds hc about demons nuzzling to show affection* or *hc about demons using sounds and non-verbal communication to a much higher degree than humans* or even *potential hc about demons and goddesses sharing a third language (outside their native languages and the language shared between all races) because they both hold themselves higher than the other races and even communicated with each other enough for a sort of truce(?)*

Another thing about Britannia is that it is oold. Like, we follow 3,000 years worth of history in canon. We know that the landscape changes drastically over the years (enough for King to be like hey this isn't our britannia, and also the 10C are surprised to find Edinburgh castle (or what's left of it anyway) because that spot used to be empty), but we don't really know how the people/culture/all that stuff changes. Because like... there's no way that things remain the same for 3-freaking-thousands years. Especially not with the huge change of the gods (goddesses) and monsters (demons) of the world all simultaneously disappearing. That said, it's interesting to think about how open to change the different races are/would be. Would the giants and fairies, who both have looong lifespans, be more prone to keeping things the way they are, than humans who might see change happening over the passing of generations? And then there's the demons and goddesses, who (if following canon events) have been gone/sealed/STUCK for 3,000 years...😅 But also like, how do the demons/goddesses feel about the changes to Britannia and the other races? We don't see a lot of this in canon (besides wow humans have gotten even better at making alcohol and wow humans are so weak now).

Oh wait! Actually another thing canon does touch upon is the shift in the magical power in Britannia. After being released the 10C feel like the magical power has dried up and it's making it harder for them to regain their own, but Fraudrin points out it isn't gone but instead the power that "once gushed from the earth" now "flows into the wildlife and plants" and that over the years it's been "absorbed by the beings" in Britannia. I'm not sure how much thoughts I have about this because it literally just caught my attention (😅) but it's something to think about. What was it like before when the power was in the earth rather than the plants and beings, what does this change mean, why did it happen, what relationship do the demons have with the natural magical power in Britannia? It's also of note to point out that this power, according to Monspeet, was the reason for the start of the war between the five races.

(ooh this makes me think about my own writing bc i've wanted for a while to do a fic where demons are a lot more connected/dependent on the natural power/energy in the demon realm and this affects mel once he gets stuck in britannia and maybe this can add some further complexity to the whole thing because the relationship between magic and land has changed in britannia - hmm def worth some thinking - Anyway! Side note. Ignore this, lol)

One way I do think Britannia has changed over the many years is that it is much more connected now. It feels, to me at least, that "back in the day" the different villages and whatnot were a lot more isolated. While now, for better (traveling, trading, alliances) or worse (war, humans being fucked up little shits to each other), Britannia is a lot more connected. We do see the characters being pretty well-aware of the surrounding kingdoms/villages/even locations of other races (there's even a map! - we do not know if there was a map of the land 3,000 years ago...?)

Anyway! Ramblings ove- No. Wait. Language! I definitely think language/communication is worth a couple of some thoughts (because I'm a nerd when it comes to communication. First of all, like a briefly mentioned before, I love the idea of demons being a lot more non-verbal than humans. Like in my Monster Sins AU, the demons' sounds/non-verbal communication is at least as complex as their verbal one. Humans might pick up on the warning of a growl or the particular emotion of whine or purr, but to demons there's actual communicated messages in those sounds. Personally I like taking inspiration from dogs and cats with a flair of demon/fantasy for how these sounds sound (but I'm also open to the potential of other animals - I haven't gotten that far in my own world-building yet). On the topic of 3,000 years passing, I also think it's important to point out the changes in language. Because whether we are talking about the demons being sealed away for 3,000 years or just different races keeping to their own realms/race, there will be communication problems happening. Again, there's no way things haven't changed. I mean, if I look at a Swedish text from a couple centuries ago I'm like *confused noises intensifying*. And like we know that demons have their own language. With how the demons/goddesses superiority complex, I don't see why they would keep to the "common language" when speaking with each other either. So there would definitely be some differences in the language used between the different races. The demons in canon, after the seal breaks, must have a very old-sounding language with like idioms no longer used. Similarly, they must find the language of humans and whatnot hard to understand at times, because there are new words/phrases they aren't familiar with. And this isn't just about time either, there gotta be a lot of different dialects in Britannia. No way all of Britannia speaks in the same way (same language sure, but not the same way).

Okay, now I am done. Not sure how much of this was coherent or *makes vague gesture* useful to you but it's some thoughts, I guess.

i'm also currently switching from headcanons & drabbles to mainly oneshots, cause i've just had a lot more fun writing bigger and proper pieces!!! that doesn't mean i won't write hcs/drabbles when i see fit ofc, but due to this lowkey like 80% of my asks went from "haha silly little drabble" to full on oneshots (and some even full on fics!). so my writing and ""production"" time has been significantly increased.

also another thing of note: over time i've kinda just slowed down if not halted completely on writing fics for fem readers... the Robin one will most likely be my last x Fem! reader simply cause it feels odd for me to write fem reader all of a sudden. mainly cause i am . a boy lol and i did start this account to write for male readers (cause especially after coming out several years ago it was just so hard to find x male readers yk??). I won't be deleting x fem reader requests cause lowkey they are all kinda bangersss so most of the time I will default to gn reader or switch to male reader as i see fit..

In Supersons we see a couple of kids that are implied to be Damian and Jon's children and the boy has laser eyes and can fly, so I asume he's not adopted. The girl, who calls Bruce grandpa, can also fly, btw. So it's canon (probably by accident) that Jon can have kids and he must have married one of Bruce's kids.
