Why self-diagnosed autistics are valid

medical diagnosis can be expensive
humans are the experts on their own minds
family may prevent assessment
diagnosis criteria is a poor checklist of stereotypes
diagnosis criteria ignores gender, race, sexuality, culture & more
medical diagnosis confirms autism, but doesn't create it
discrimination within the medical profession may prevent diagnosis.
Assessment waiting lists often long
medical trauma may make assessment unfeasible

Yeowch jumping from foot to foot as I throw a hot pan in the air then catch it again as my hands burn
Arthur knowing about Daegal’s importance and significance to Merlin as he watches Merlin cradle the boy’s head and cry silently when he dies protecting Arthur. Merlin insists that he will be the one to put Daegal to rest but it won’t be in Camelot, not under a Pendragon crest which is like a stab in the heart to Arthur’s already heavy guilt at someone dying for him, someone Merlin deeply cared for. But he understands. (Not really - can’t remember if the boy was a Druid or not but I’m gonna say he was because that makes the most sense bc Merlin was referring to the fact that he didn’t want to put another Druid to rest in a kingdom where so many of their kind has been hunted and slaughtered. Arthur thinks Merlin blames him. He doesn’t. Maybe a little but not really.)
Anyways, Merlin sets off into the woods to bury Daegal outside of Camelot, on the border of the kingdoms so he doesn’t belong to any one nation where his people have been killed. He thinks he goes it alone. Arthur follows far behind. Merlin puts Daegal to rest then kneels by his grave long into the night when magic grows stronger and Daegal’s spirit visits him before departing to the Otherworld. He thanks Merlin for giving him something he had not realized he needed - kindness, compassion, love. He thanks him for putting him to rest and says he is back with his mother now, so he’ll be alright. Merlin watches him go and spends the rest on the night still kneeling beside his grave.
When morning finally comes and he gets up to leave, he finds a horse a few yards down the path with a figure waiting for him. Its Arthur. He looks like he hasn’t slept a wink all night. Merlin slowly shuffles over and watches him for a moment before calling out his name. Arthur turns and takes in Merlin’s bedraggled appearance which Arthur mirrors, miserable and guilty - Arthur blaming himself, Merlin blaming himself, Arthur thinking Merlin blames him, Merlin tired from losing people.
Merlin stares for a moment before asking quietly, “You’ve been here all night?”
And Arthur just stares back and whispers, “I didn’t want you to feel that you were alone.”

Netherrealm Studios didn't make Hanzo Hasashi a child and turn Kuai Liang into Scorpion in MK1 to shake up the narrative, try something new or explore the latter's previously underdeveloped relationship with Bi Han, but because the development of both Kuai and Hanzo in previous games had naturally evolved and acquired a homoerotic tone that NRS themselves had, unintentionally, fed with narrative and dialogue choices, and they realized they were already in too deep to back down in any way other than completely overhauling both characters from the ground up and ensuring there was no possible way for people to even suggest their relationship could be other than or move towards anything beyond simple acquaintance. This demonstrates cowardice on Netherrealm's part, as the intricacies Subzero and Scorpion's relationship had accidentally developed made plausible deniability harder as the story progressed, and risking the possibility of their mascots being perceived as a same sex couple, even if it was never made official, would probably hurt their bottom line, thus making it a huge no-go. By turning Kuai Liang into Scorpion and having Bi Han remain Subzero, all the while keeping their status as blood brothers despite their completely opposite powers, and by taking Hanzo out of the picture completely, they hoped to keep Subzero and Scorpion's trademark rivalry without risking any further "accidents" when it comes to their writing or perception of one another. In this essay I will

I swear. I comprehend I’m not the best teaching intern in the world. I also was not the best camp counselor, cashier, and so on. But if my observer gives me so much criticism that I cry again I’m going to be so motherfucking pissed.
Especially since she’s asking me to stay late just to review me. While I have family visiting. And I’m gone for most of the day. And my commute is over half an hour. Which isn’t bad around here but still.
#vent#I’m working on it but I cry after like 5+ concentrated minutes of disappointment from bosses and such#we’re staying late because she observed yesterday but#but just like last week she thought my planning period was *at the wrong spot*#it turns out that I did tell her wrong twice FUCK#BUT THERE WAS ALSO ONE TIME I DID TELL HER RIGHT I SWEAR. PLUS I TOLD HER LAST WEEK IN PERSON. I COMBED THROIGH MY EMAILS#I just sent an email with all the correct information so hopefully that resolves the issue#I cried for like two days last week. her criticism is fairly valid but alsoooooo I’m trying to work with my partner Teachers values& methods#WHICH THE OBSERVOR ESPOUSED. last week she was like ‘omg your partner teacher is the best omg you better treat her as the great resource#that she is’ and meanwhile I like my partner teacher but her methods are boring and teacher centered#she swears it’s how she gets through to these kids and I can see that#like by tenth grade a huge change in educational structure would probably be more distracting than helpful for the better part of a year to#these kids#especially since I’m here for maybe a month.#not worth fucking these kids over#and considering the students get to use their notes on tests im just. kind of blanking on better ideas???#even the kids in the ‘smart’ periods are so hesitant with so many math skills#I just want to fix it but I’m basically at the end of the process. idk#my cashier job made me come in on my day off (I did clock in) to get criticized#idk how to stand up about this with a woman who can decide whether I pass or not but god I hope this isn’t going to be a pattern#she didn’t have ONE fucking good thing to say about me last week#my mom suggested that I ask for a compliment when I’m near tears because that might stave off any tears#I’m hoping her method works

What are the 3 Main Points in Idea Validation Step? ProtoBoost
Bringing a startup idea to life is an exciting journey, but the risk of failure is real—especially when assumptions go untested. That’s where idea validation becomes critical. It helps determine whether your concept has real-world potential before significant time or money is invested.
One of the most powerful tools for streamlining this process today is ProtoBoost, an AI-driven prototyping and AI idea validation platform that accelerates product discovery by helping founders and teams validate ideas quickly and efficiently. In this article, we’ll dive into the three main points in the idea validation step using ProtoBoost and explore how AI is transforming how startups validate and iterate on new business ideas.
1. User Feedback Collection
The foundation of any business idea validation process is understanding what potential users think. ProtoBoost enables startups to create AI-generated, interactive prototypes that can be tested by target audiences in minutes—not weeks. These prototypes simulate the core functionality of the idea, giving users a hands-on experience.
This phase focuses on gathering qualitative and quantitative feedback. Using built-in tools and integrations, ProtoBoost collects insights on user behavior, pain points, preferences, and reactions. You can answer critical questions like:
Do users understand the purpose of the product?
Are they able to complete key tasks easily?
Do they find value in the core feature?
By using AI-generated interfaces and automated survey tools, ProtoBoost makes this process scalable, repeatable, and incredibly fast.
2. Assumption Testing
Every idea is based on assumptions—about the user, the problem, the market, and the solution. One of the core principles of startup idea validation is to identify and test these assumptions early on.
ProtoBoost helps founders structure and test hypotheses using its AI idea validator framework. You start by listing your assumptions (e.g., “Users want a simpler way to manage personal finances”), and then build tests that either validate or disprove them.
For example:
Will users sign up for early access?
Will they complete a key action in the prototype?
Do they express willingness to pay?
ProtoBoost uses AI to generate the right testing scenarios, analyze user behavior, and provide data-backed insights. It also offers a confidence score on which assumptions are validated and which require further testing. This structured approach minimizes guesswork and allows teams to pivot early if necessary.
3. Iterative Refinement
No idea is perfect from the start, and successful innovation relies on iteration. After collecting feedback and testing assumptions, the final step in idea validation is to refine the concept.
ProtoBoost excels here by using AI to recommend changes to design, user flow, and feature prioritization based on the feedback received. Founders can tweak prototypes instantly, launch new versions, and repeat the validation cycle until they achieve strong product-market fit.
This continuous loop of AI-driven prototyping, testing, and refinement saves time and dramatically improves the quality of the end product. Instead of building in the dark, startups can validate every decision with real user data.

Why ProtoBoost for AI Idea Validation?
Here’s why ProtoBoost is becoming the go-to AI idea validator for early-stage startups and product teams:
Speed: Go from idea to validated prototype in hours, not weeks.
Automation: AI handles design, feedback analysis, and iteration.
Insight: Data-driven decisions replace guesswork in product development.
Scalability: Test multiple ideas or versions simultaneously.
Whether you're a solo founder or part of a product team, ProtoBoost can turn your raw concept into a validated business opportunity, ready for investment or development.
Final Thoughts
The idea validation phase is arguably the most important step in building a successful startup. Rushing through it or skipping it altogether can lead to costly failures. With platforms like ProtoBoost, AI-driven prototyping and business idea validation are no longer intimidating or resource-heavy. Instead, they become structured, fast, and insightful.
By focusing on user feedback collection, assumption testing, and iterative refinement, ProtoBoost ensures that your startup idea validation journey is grounded in real data—not just optimism.
If you’re ready to take your idea to the next level, let ProtoBoost guide your validation process with intelligence, speed, and clarity.

anyone else notice how academic culture and institutions are so obsessed with looking like they have dignity that they forget to actually have any dignity? shit's kinda fucked
#i've had to read so many essays that were trying so hard to sound like their point was valid#that they forgot to actually make a point in the process#so many that use important sounding words to say things of little importance#where it's just regurgitation of someone else's work with the occasional “[current popular buzzword] is so important guys”#like ninety percent of the “viewing [thing already written about] form a [currently popular buzzword] perspective” essays are pointless#they don't actually examine how the viewpoint could change things. they just kinda say#“this is my viewpoint. anyways - uh - whatever the last guy said was cool. oh and this isn't actually my viewpoint but what if it was?”#and they get published because if the journal has That Certain Word a bunch of times then people will buy their articles to look up to date#i'm afraid to say things like this around my peers because they seem to find all this nonsense profoundly meaningful#for reasons that I can't begin to understand#i remember reading one about language and culture from a queer perspective#i was originally excited as i had a number of thoughts on what that would look like#only to read it and find out it was just the same thing about language and culture I had read multiple times for that course#with a quick “oh and by the way queer perspectives are important i guess. i have no idea what they look like though” at the very end#the very-much-not-queer majority of my class thought it was incredibly deep and meaningful#higher education#academics#academia

Avoid Costly Mistakes: Validate Your Idea Before You Build with ProtoBoost

Launching a startup or a new product is exciting, but without proper business idea validation, it can become an expensive lesson. Many aspiring entrepreneurs dive into product development without confirming whether their idea solves a real problem or meets a real market demand. This misstep can lead to wasted resources, unmet expectations, and missed opportunities.
Enter ProtoBoost — a powerful, AI-driven business idea validation tool designed to help you verify your concept before you commit significant time, money, and effort. In this blog, we’ll explore why startup idea validation is essential, the steps in the idea validation process, and how ProtoBoost can help you avoid costly mistakes.
Why Idea Validation Matters
Before you write a single line of code or pitch investors, validating your idea ensures that you’re solving a real problem for a real audience. Too often, founders fall in love with their idea, only to realize later that no one actually needs or wants what they’ve built.
Startup idea validation helps you:
Reduce risk: Ensure your idea is worth building before investing heavily.
Save money: Avoid unnecessary development costs for features no one will use.
Gain clarity: Understand your market, your users, and your value proposition.
Pivot early: Make necessary adjustments before launching an unvalidated product.
Common Mistakes When Skipping Validation
Many startups fail simply because they didn’t validate their idea. Some of the most common mistakes include:
Building too early: Skipping validation and jumping straight into product development.
Assuming without data: Relying on gut feelings instead of real customer insights.
Targeting the wrong audience: Developing for a market that doesn’t exist or doesn’t care.
Ignoring feedback: Overlooking early input that could prevent failure later on.
Each of these mistakes is costly — not just financially, but also in terms of morale, time, and opportunity.
The Idea Validation Process
A solid idea validation process includes a series of steps to test your assumptions and gather feedback before you build. Here’s a simplified breakdown:
Define the Problem: Clearly identify the problem you’re trying to solve and who experiences it.
Identify Your Target Audience: Create personas or profiles for your ideal customers.
Conduct Research: Use surveys, interviews, or online tools to gather insights.
Analyze Market Demand: Check trends, search data, and competition.
Test the Concept: Create landing pages, prototypes, or MVPs to gauge interest.
Evaluate Feedback: Assess the data and refine your idea accordingly.
This process ensures you’re building something people actually want and are willing to pay for.
Meet ProtoBoost: Your Business Idea Validation Partner

honestly genuinely think a lot of writers here on tumblr have lost the plot more than a little. like if your writing for external validation, ie begging for comments and reblogs or saying kudos/likes mean less, i really believe you need to take a step back and reexamine your relationship with your writing. of course we all love to hear how much someone likes our work- we’re human- but the incessant posting and polling about comments and how “no one comments anymore” is starting to give entitlement. you aren’t owed engagement. just because you’re choosing to put the your work out to the public sphere, whether it’s here on tumblr or ao3 or wattpad or literally anywhere, for free and explicitly for others entertainment doesn’t mean they- the strangers on the internet- owe you anything. they don’t owe you a like, a comment, a reblog, a favorite, a bookmark- they don’t have any obligation to you. if you’re posting and immediately concerned about engagement metrics you’re no better than any tiktok or instagram content creator.
#it actually makes me want to engage with your work less#like I really don’t get this recent uptick in writers begging for comments#and that one post going around about people giving/having literary critics about fanfic?#that annoyed me too like c’mon guys you really can’t have it both ways#either you want people to meaningfully engage with your work or you don’t#and I really truly believe it’s the second one because it’s giving you just want praise#because no one wants ‘unsolicited criticism’ in the comments only what the reader liked about it#you just want validation- which is normal! I too like being told I’m doing a good job at the thing I love doing- but some people are taking#this to an extreme that’s like…..almost alienating to a degree because 99% of the time it’s about fanfic and that inherently means fandom#spaces and fandom comes with a lot of connotations and expectations of behavior that can be both intimidating and ridiculous#like idk man reading and writing is supposed to be cathartic and freeing not an obligation it shouldn’t be expected of readers to keep a#notepad full of bullet points to write an essay in the comments about why they liked the fanfic they just read#idk whatever#nothing is gonna change about it ik but it’s just……#idk#I wanna say annoying is the best word to describe it but it feels more than that#like personally I don’t write because I feel like I need to share this thing I made with people that might like it#I write because I’m never as unhappy as when I can’t express the million little ideas I have a day#I write because I love the process of writing and the places it can take me#I don’t need anyone else to agree with or like the same idea/story I’m excited for#and if I do share whatever it is I’ve written it’s a nice bonus to have people just as excited about it as me#but tbh 90% of what I write is never shared because I just….. don’t care to#I don’t need that external validation some other writers on here seem so desperate for

As a late diagnosed autist I will say one of the most damaging but transformative experiences I've ever had was being misdiagnosed with BPD.
Everyday my heart goes out to people with BPD.
The amount of stigma and silencing they face is astonishing and sickening.
I took DBT for years. Therapists use to turn me away because of my diagnosis.
I would be having full blown autistic meltdowns, crying for help literally - but because I was labeled as BPD ANY time I cried I was treated as manipulative and unstable.
As if the only reason I could be crying was if I was out to trick someone.
95% of the books out there with Borderline in the title are named shit like 'How to get away from a person with Borderline', 'How to stop walking on eggshells (with a person who has BPD)'
I was never allowed to feel true pain or panic or need.
That was 'attention seeking behavior', not me asking for help when a disability was literally inhibiting my ability to process emotions.
There were dozens of times where I had a full meltdown and was either threatened with institutionalization or told I was doing it for attention.
My failing relationships weren't due to a communication issue, or the inability to read social cues. No, because I was labeled borderline, my unstable relationships were my fault. Me beggong nuerotypicals to just be honest and blunt with what they meant was me pestering them for validation.
Borderline patients can't win.
And the funny thing is - I asked my therapist about autism. I told her I thought I was on the spectrum.
BPD is WILDLY misdiagnosed with those with autism and I had many clear signs.
Instead - she told me 'If you were autistic we wouldn't be able to have this conversation'. She made me go through a list of autistic traits made clearly for children, citing how I didn't fit each one.
And then she told me that me identifying with the autism community was the BPD making me search for identity to be accepted - and that I wasn't autistic, just desperate to fit in somewhere.
I didn't get diagnosed for another ten years. For ten years I avoided the autism community - feeling as if I were just a broken person who wanted to steal from people who 'really needed it'.
Because of my providers - I began to doubt my identity MORE, not less.
Ten years of thinking I was borderline and being emotionally neglected and demonized by a system meant to help me.
To this day, I still don't trust neurotypicals. Not fully.
I know I'm not borderline now - but my heart aches for them. Not for the usual stuff. But for the stigma. And the asshole doctors. And the dismissiveness and threatening and the idea of institutionalization hanging over their head.
I love Borderline people. I always will. I'm not Borderline but if you are I love you and I'm sorry.
You're not a bad person. You're not a therapists worst nightmare, you are a human with valid feelings and fears.
Borderline people I'm sorry.
