While slightly spiteful, your plan had been simple and had about a 50/50 chance of succeeding, with minimal loss to you if it didn’t.

Fear agression - I’ve heard a lot on prey drive so I’m not gonna add but fear aggression is a big thing too. not only getting spooked and whirling around, teeth bared and maybe biting on instinct. but also seeing people who you have bad experiences with and everything in you wanting to defend yourself violently when you really can’t/shouldn’t by human standards.
Body language - For the longest time I just nodded and slow blinked instead of waving. I still don’t really know how to show upset by human standards so I just curl my lip and wish I had anything else that could show my emotion like ears to flip back or fur to bristle. I don’t get human body language either except in the overlap between nonhuman and human. I do not know how to show human emotion because i have had a nonhuman body map for as long as I can remember. Also autism
pack mentality & attachment issues - idk how common this is but I am so viciously attached to my pack and my mate that sometimes it’s really hard to step back and realize that sometimes they’re wrong or that they should fight their own battles. Being apart from them like, hurts.
Boredom in human environments - constantly feeling like a zoo animal. I’m not supposed to sit in a box for eight hours a day I’m supposed to maul prey with my teeth and run across miles and miles of coastline with my pack. not only being homesick but also jus being, like… really fucking bored, feeling restrained almost.

Hey friend 👋 I have this Astarion based inquiry I wanted to ask you. Simply, what type of person do you think he is attracted to?
I wondered after the player + Star's meeting Sebastian in Cazador's lair and Star's mention of a "Darling boy" he met within the 1st decade of he captivity. I'm sure that Cazador is not picky about the type of people that the "family" brings in as long as this person's absence doesn't bring unnecessary attention, which would lean the "family" towards those that are considered to "dregs of society"
Star said to tav that he would try to pick "beautiful people" but eventually stopped caring (not exact wording, something along those lines), althought he didnt specify if be meant apperance or personality, I feel like his choices of Sebastian or "Darling boy" ( shy, naive, sweethearted individuals) are the personalities of person would pick for his own personal escapism for that night.
But my conflicting lies in his approval of a player that does things that are cruel or manipulative. So maybe, he just have a soft spot for people he deems as innocent or naive and not necessarily a romantic attraction, since he seen how cruel the world can be 🤔 I'm sure his preference changed between him being a magistrate, captive and post-game, but I think ideally he'd like someone that's good of heart?

Oooohhhh, that's a neat question to wallow over! Let's see, love, let's see...
I do agree that Astarion seems to have a certain weakness for good-hearted, somewhat naive and innocent individuals - almost golden retriever types - for the same reasons you mention. And, if we nitpick, we could add the fact that he used to dream about someone like Wyll saving him and if Wyll Ravengard is one thing and one thing only it'd be a goodie two shoes. (And he does have his innocent and naive sides as well, doesn't he?)
In the end, I do believe that a good heart is something spawn Astarion admires and looks for in a person. Probably because it feels so strange and alien to him after his years of abuse, something he hasn't seen or experienced in a long time and that he is now drawn to like a moth to light.
But, at the same time, there's a few... limitations. A good heart is one thing, but I have my doubts about how well a relationship like that - one with one of those kind, naive, innocent golden retriever types - would work in the long run.
While we could argue that Astarion has a good heart - which I personally do believe he does, deep down - he isn't innocent or mellow in character. Astarion is a character that tends to see the need for cruelty - and I do think he does enjoy his casual bouts of cruelty as well (think act 1, scaring the tiefling children) - and he is somewhat of a jackarse. A loveable jackarse but a jackarse nonetheless.
If we combine that with his polar opposite - a naive, innocent do-gooder - it makes for a rather...explosive combination.
There's a lot of room for conflict in that connection, because we're faced with very clear differences in core values and believes that are usually hard to navigate.
(In general, every person has a set list of core values that make us who we are. Those values determine not only how we act but also who we surround ourselves with and to form healthy, long lasting relationships - platonic or otherwise - those values need to somewhat overlap between us and the people around us. The less they do, the harder it is to keep a relationship stable. It still is very much possible, but it will require a lot of communication, openness, acceptance and understanding by all involved parties.)
I think that sort of relationship would come with a long list of big and small frustrations. Astarion would be frustrated because why can't they see how this is necessary? Do they always have to save every kitten in distress? Why do they care so. much.!? Can't they just turn and walk away for once? What has the world ever done for them? How can one person be so fucking naive?!
And darling would be frustrated because, hot damn why can't he do the right thing just once? Why does he need to be so cruel to everyone else? Why are we even discussing this!? Why isn't the path already clear to him? What has the world ever done to him? Why is he so cold? We are able to help so we fucking should!
As you can see, the script nearly writes itself. There's a lot of room for disagreement and even more so for annoyance and even infantalising - on part of both parties.
(And if, to top it all of, darling is one of the softer do-gooders - one of those that have trouble standing up for themselves and pushing back when necessary - the relationship could quickly delve into Astarion continuously walking all over them, whether it is intentionally done or by accident.)
As I mentioned before - Astarion is a jackarse. In order to be with someone like that, you need to be able to push back when necessary. Give shit where shit is due to drag him off his high horse. And I think this is something he is well aware of and doesn't necessarily mind. You can call him out on his shit multiple times over the course of the game and, far as I can remember, he doesn't disapprove most of the time - Cazador-centric moments not included. (Example - calling him an arse because he's being a racist shit towards the gur hunter in act 1.)
He needs to be told off just as much as he needs to be agreed with.
And this is, essentially, the problem with the darlings. Realistically speaking, I think there'd be too much disagreement and telling off and not enough agreement in most situations. It lacks balance. A person who is kind hearted and does good but can be cruel and cold if the situation calls for it would probably fare much better with him in the long run because they can see eye to eye when it comes down to it.
So, to answer your question:
I do believe that Astarion has his fantasies about those very lovely, kind and innocent people just as much as anyone. Maybe it's a thought he likes, maybe there's even more to it - we don't know.
But, in its essence, this seems more like one of those fantasies one might have or one of the archetypes one might like that aren't all too feasible in reality. You know, like how some people love the classic Tall Dark Dangerous but if they ever were to meet one of them in person, they'd probably be throwing hands.
(It's me, I'm some people.)
And sure, this might work for a night. Chat up the innocent and kind person, seduce them and, dare I say, corrupt them with a little bit of himself for one night - if only to escape reality, as you mention -... yeah. Yeah, seems feasible.
But a relationship with someone who he actually CAN see eye to eye with at least half the time would likely be much more realistic and sustainable and I think it's something he himself is well aware of, which is precisely why we gain the approval the way we do.
It's a fantasy. And some fantasies are meant to remain as such.
Luckily, attraction is based on a great many factors and can change the better you get to know a person! So, while he might initially be more attracted to a prince charming, that attraction can quickly fade. Meanwhile, someone who's the furthest from innocent and kind can become more attractive the more time is spent with them. Attraction is lovely like that, it's willing to shift and morph into anything for us!

what are your thoughts on the siblings' relationships between each other?
i think i've already talked about some of this in other posts but idk how detailed i went with them, so sorry if some of this sounds a bit repetitive
beware. hc heavy, like usual ! "[hc]" in places that aren't canon-compliant whatsoever 🫡
i think out of all three trios - the powerpuff girls, the rowdyruff boys, and the powerpunk girls - the puffs have the best support system for each other. it doesn't necessarily make them the closest, i actually hc that a lot of their differences gradually make it harder to get along over the years until certain character arcs help overcome obstacles that had impeded on their relationships with each other. in this regard, i also think the puffs are the group to experience the most change overall.
blossom and bubbles probably started out a lot closer during childhood because buttercup was at the height of her tomboy era (an era that never really ends, ofc !!) and they didn't have a lot of overlap in the activities they enjoyed doing. it's not necessarily a negative thing, either; their love and support for each other was a lot less complicated during childhood, and even if buttercup split off more frequently to hang out with her dudebros, bubbles and blossom still had a place for her when she came back.
however, because of how i think each of them grow up individually, it's actually bubbles who kind of splinters off from the group in their teen/young-adult years.
this is mostly because of how blossom and buttercup find their sense of selves more 'easily'. blossom becomes a steady, unmoving pillar of ice; she's still loving and compassionate, but she's generally sharper and colder in demeanor even when she's being sincere. blossom is also somebody who tries to be pragmatic and keep her cool, which is why buttercup and her butted heads a lot as kids; as an adult, she becomes almost… inaccessible for more emotional needs.
buttercup doesn't need blossom for emotional support. she never really has. imo she learned in her tween years how to self-manage, or which friends to choose to confide in: friends who weren't blossom. for the two of them, it's an understanding - blossom will always be there for whatever issues her sisters may have, but sometimes just sharing ice cream is better than trying to get blossom to give you a pep talk.
likewise, buttercup has her own things she sucks at helping people with. fitting in, making friends, dealing with loneliness… are some pretty big ones. she's never had a problem with confidence or approaching people - at least, not in the same way bubbles has.
which leaves bubbles without the supports she really needs. bubbles, who has the emotional depth and vastness of the ocean, who has always just wanted harmony and to be liked. for people to get along. sure, there are instances where she can turn to her sisters for help or advice or support, or even the professor, but none of them really connect with her after a certain stage in her life.
somewhere during adolescence, blossom and buttercup land with both feet on the ground, but bubbles is left adrift. her sisters know who they are, or who they aspire to be. they don't reshape themselves to suit other people, and yet, people still come to them.
the thing with kind, loving kids like bubbles is that sometimes they don't have the thicker skin to withstand how mean other kids can get in middle school, high school, college, etc. this isn't to say bubbles can't stand up for herself or doesn't know when to put her foot down - out of all of her sisters, i think she's the most stubborn and passionate when it comes to things she cares about.
it's just to say that the heroic reputation definitely got to her, when it didn't get to her sisters. so bubbles drifts away from them because she doesn't really know who she is, what she wants to be; she keeps changing and acting different. one week she's the soft-spoken neighbor, the next day she's a bright and energetic cheerleader, maybe next month she'll be an aspiring artist. she's trying to be whatever shape fits the mold of expectation and - at the time-frame i indulge a lot of my content in - it's not working out for her.
eventually the puffs will regain the closeness they had as kids. i just think they're the most prone to fluctuation; two sisters aren't prepared to be emotionally vulnerable, and one of them is too much so, and they all need to work on themselves before they can really work on relationships with other people. and that's a constant growth, which imo ultimately benefits them in the long run. but for now they're a little complicated.
that's not to say the ruffs aren't complicated, because they definitely are as well.
it's more to do with how they grew up than anything by nature. in my hc brick was kind of prized as the son with the most potential, and that snowballed into a lot of deluded lines of thinking that inevitably led to him being a problem-starter with an ego-feeding martyr complex.
not to put all the blame on brick for the dysfunction of he and his brothers, but he's certainly responsible for most of it. boomer's not exactly any help, though; it's him and brick who butt heads most often as children, and as they get older, things continue to worsen.
this is mostly because of brick's refusal to acknowledge when he's at fault, as well as his unwillingness to change in general. boomer's patience has always been relatively thin (perhaps a surprise to some [hc]) so it would only be a matter of time before brick makes him snap. that's an event that results in boomer rarely being home the same time brick is unless to sleep, driving the wedge between them even deeper.
where's butch in all of this ? well, he's the rope-toy that his brothers keep tugging back and forth between them. he's on brick's side, obv - no, he's on boomer's side ! so on and so on.
in reality, butch is just trying to keep things… civil, at the very least. ik a lot of fandom tends to hc butch as more hot-headed and argumentative, but i like the idea of him being somebody who seems like he's just going with the flow, while in reality having a lot more to do with the current state of social situations than people realize: as such, i think he tries to mediate for his brothers when he can.
secretly, butch is on boomer's 'side' most of the time. not that it's really his fault. brick isn't exactly the easiest to get along with and while butch rarely retaliates, that's not to say brick hasn't hurt him or his feelings before. as i said in this post - there is a lot that brick has to apologize for.
problems with brick aside, there's also the factor that i don't think he and boomer would've ever achieved absolute closeness anyways solely because of their personalities. brick is kind of a helicopter-friend, and i think that kind of approach (especially the more pressuring form that brick takes on sometimes) would really get on boomer's nerves. boomer's incredibly independent and seeks out company when he feels like it.
whereas, butch has always embodied more of a mellow presence suitable for most company. he's a shoulder to lean on, always has an ear to listen to somebody's troubles - it's how he can keep his relationship intact with both his brothers without a huge falling out. he tends to keep a lot of his personal troubles to himself (i enjoy him being the real martyr parallel to brick's martyr complex lmao).
this doesn't rule out butch's ability to be angry, though. there's certainly a lot of witheld resentment and hurt he's held on to - maybe just because he doesn't know how to let it go - and one of these days he'll inevitably lose his composure. in my hc it'll result in him lashing out irreversibly and essentially kicking brick's ass back into gear, but that will be a while off.
for now, they love each other at a complicated distance.
saying the punks love each other at all is a questionable statement. brute split off from her sisters as soon as she relieved them of oppressor plutonium's hold and very rarely looks back. it's a wonder she remembers to send her sisters money and pay their rent [hc], to the point that brat suspects it's an automated payment that brute actually forgot about or isn't concerned enough about to follow up on.
brat and berserk are lumped together, sure, but they're hardly close. brat feels like she was burdened with responsibility when it comes to berserk. they're worlds apart from each other in terms of maturity and independence; brat loves berserk more than brute, but it's almost,, a friendship as opposed to the unconditional love that siblings are supposed to have for each other.
there's no support system to speak of for the punks. brat is an isolationist at heart and doesn't have the patience or social battery to keep up with berserk, who in turn has no solid role model to look up to and resorts to extremes to gain attention. they are diametrically opposed.
unlike for the puffs and ruffs, there's zero resolution for the punks among themselves. they reach out to other people, make friends that way, but are never - and were never - particularly close to each other as sisters.
sort of like an opposite to the puffs, how they seem to have a constant draw to each other in the end. the punks are flipped magnets constantly repelling away from each other.
the taste in friends they have is a lot different, too. berserk seeks out people who remind her of brat (ie; her friendship with boomer, her crush on blossom - both two people are aloof and hard to get close to, and whose attention is hard-earned but worth it once you get it).
brat in general is a bit of a social chameleon, but ultimately goes for soft-natured, kind-hearted people - people who are very different from than her sisters (ie; billy and kristen, two normies who are entirely unrelated to the turbulence of brat's day-to-day life.)
and then there's brute, who seeks out no one. (with rare exceptions.)
TL;DR: from 'best relations' to 'worst', it goes puffs, ruffs, and punks. each of them complicated in their own way, and the concept of unconditional love getting more unfamiliar in the same order.
for my own sake there's also a trend across the groups where 1 person is distinctly apart from the rest in some way: bubbles mentally, brick emotionally, and brute physically.
i just have a thing for patterns. there are even more but it'd end up being confusing to talk about - and it's kind of irrelevant, i just felt like pointing out the one mentioned above.

imo there are two big things viv is being incredibly ignorant of with this statement, even tho she *should* know both of them:
- animation takes Literal Years to make from development to writing to boarding to actually animating. thus, many ppl can be making similar projects at the same time without knowing it until they release.
example: going as far back as the 1950s disney once sued a french stop-mo/live action alice in wonderland film just bc it was being made at the same time as their hand-drawn alice in wonderland film to prevent the US release of the french film.
- how *fast* you can work depends on the size of your project, the amount of ppl you can afford to include, and how you approach your production.
some folks might take more time making sure their story or idea is good, others might rush that. some will take more time animating while others work quicker or can afford to pay others to work quicker.
for examples of how long it can take...
long gone gulch was being developed as far back as 2010. they weren’t ready to release it for kickstarting until 2016. and once their kickstarter was successful in 2017 it took them until 2021 to release their pilot. viv didn’t inspire that, it was long in the making. if anything the timeline makes them more likely to have inspired her tho idk whether they did.
same with villainous. it was a web series all the way back in 2012 before it was picked up and co-produced by CN who started pitching it up until at least 2017, then they were finally able to release in 2019. viv didn’t inspire that, it was long in the making.
there’s overlap between recent creations, sure. but i don’t believe viv is responsible for them, nor the “new wave of indie animation.” interest in it? maybe. but animation cancellations and layoffs around covid caused a boosted interest as well.
viv has her place in indie history and is inspiring new creators, but just bc she was able to work the fastest doesn’t mean other shows that came out slower were part of a “wave” that was directly inspired by her creations.
everyone works at different paces and no one has equal amounts of access to resources that may allow them to work faster.
TL;DR i believe viv is not responsible for *recent* indie releases bc for animations to even release around the same time, even by a few years, they have to have already been conceptualized or in production for multiple years prior to their release.
ppl can also have the same idea (in this case “I should make my own animated series”) without it having to be directly inspired by or linked back to whoever was “"first”" or "biggest" to think of it.

G/T Fiber Arts (In a Nutshell)
This is my attempt to explain what exactly I mean by g/t vibes when it comes to fiber arts. I'm mostly curious if this is a Vibe that other people feel about it, but it just hasn't been talked about so we don't know that we agree? Idk, please hit me up if this at all resonates.
For a quick summary for those who don't know, fiber art is a category of art that uses textiles (yarn, fabric, thread, and in general natural or synthetic fibers). They're a labor of love since a good chunk of them are traditionally, as well as in the modern day, done by hand, though there have been machines invented that can get the job done quickly. Fiber arts include but are not limited to: knitting, crochet, sewing, quilting, embroidery, cross stitch, needlepoint, weaving, spinning, dying (as in yarn or fabric), and many others that I'm sure I'm missing.
Also for those who don't know, g/t is short for giant/tiny and refers to the phenomenon of significant size difference, usually between characters in media. Major mainstream examples include The Iron Giant, Ferngully: The Last Rainforest, Gulliver's Travels, or The Borrowers, to name a few.
I've been into fiber arts for about 14 years as of writing this! I've been a knitter and crocheter for that time, and since the pandemic have become a sewist and quilter. And like most of us, g/t has been with me for pretty much as long as I can remember. I'm by no means an expert in anything I do, but I've been at it for long enough to have a lot of Feelings about where these two interests overlap.
It's a bit hard to put those feelings into words, so apologies in advance if this turns into a bit of a ramble.
Fiber arts aside, I feel like most people in the g/t community are starved enough for proper content that we rely on Vibes to cope. It's about the Feeling of something being big or small, or making you feel big or small, whatever tickles your fancy at the time. The best way I can think to equate this in the fiber art world is: things someone made that I can imagine as being made or used by someone who's big or small.
Those big, chunky blankets people knit with their hands out of really thick merino? Major tiny vibes!

Who do you like writing more? Yandere medic or yandere engie?
but they are my baby boys... 🥺 how could i chose???
The boring answer is, I love them both sm and preference between the two is rather mutable. They are so unique and there is some but not enough overlap in regard to their appeal to me personally, or to their appeal as characters for me to really pick a #1 favorite.
Like Engie is so much fun bc it's taking the "good guy" of the team (not the straight man character, but the nice guy character, big difference here) and trying to imagine what he would be like- or what it would be, to push him over the edge into something completely sinister. Turning him into something so unlike what he's known himself to be. Like what would have to happen to make someone like this snap? It's fun to consider thing like, was he always like this deep down? Or how has he confronted issues like this in the past? There are so many fun ways to run with his character.
Medic is more like, yeah he's evil and crazy, let's dial that up to 11. which is great too! He's an absolute hottie and it's not at all surprising the fanbase he's cultivated over time! He's unhinged <3 He's cruel and unusual <3 He is possessive <3 His tits <3
but, metaphorical gun to my head, if I had to pick one- it's Engie for sure 🙈 he's simply the short king we NEED!!!
Its also so funny I got these two suggested together bc like-  ok i know its probs bc anyone who follows knows they are my faves- but! I've had these two ideas for fics I’ve been working on for a lil while now (drabble ideas in the read below xoxoxo)
One which is Medic x reader x Heavy basically reader and everyone is chilling enjoying some drinks, they are super shy and inexperienced and get a little tipsy and is joking around like when the topic of sex is brought up. They're like, "ahaha yeah I'm waiting for the right person, idk~" the chit-chat is all fun and playful, only a little heated, but reader is sure they’re all just messing around. Reader sitting next to Heavy on one couch, medic sitting in an armchair right across. Feeling a lil drowsy, and less shy given the circumstances, they're leaning up against Heavy bc he’s a human space heater, soft, so mellow and cozy!!! They don't bat an eye when he loops a strong around them to pull them closer and kiss the top of their head. Though by the time the kisses and bear-hugs intensify, it’s far too late to try and get away now. The guilt of taking this too far with a friend as well as the knowledge he isn't single only make things worse, making Reader remember themself all at once, and lock up. Becoming frigid and awkward to Heavy's advances. Heavy doesn't miss a beat however, justifying himself with a sort of "we've noticed you're always so shy, you just need to get out of your shell a little :)" and after a bit of warming up Medic would be the one to try and intensify things.
Getting cornered like that by someone like Heavy would be scary, but if that happened WHILE Medic was right across the room like 😊💕🍺 would be TERRIFYING. Very hot and erotic, but also terrifying.
The other imagine/one shot I'm not sure what a plot/framing device would be, but its Engie and demo. Maybe something like, newbie to the defense squad is learning the ropes and gets flustered and like- very obviously distracted checking out the other two guys, and messes up some easy traps and; quite similarly to the situation above, a  little teasing and joking around goes further and further until reader ends up pinned under demo, Engie holding them down from behind trying to see if they can keep up. 
The idea/”plot” of this one is much foggier in my head rn, but,,, hotties. Dad bods, even.

help me choose living room furniture!!!
so i was mocking up my living room and it turns out i have less space for couches than i hoped and there are just not that many love seat options that match the sleeper sofa i want this is so fucking sad...
but i still wanna be able to have seats for more than a few people so im trying to figure out which of these is best. i'd love input:
two notes:
other room is the kitchen so its full i just didnt bother putting anything there but the kitchen table
i want a tv stand but am not planning on getting one yet so the dimensions on that could be flexible if needed. same thing with a lamp. and some of these include a short bookcase for boardgames but thats experimental and i may not end up getting one.
ok!! lets start
this first one is very similar to how my old roommate had things set up so i know it works and i like it on an 'ease of walking from upstairs or the front door to kitchen' level
but also i kind of hate it because there are no ceiling lights on the living room side and there are no windows beyond that window behind the blue couch and the sliding glass door in the kitchen so with the tv there it made the whole space feel even darker than it does right now

but while it doesnt matter that much i wish there was more room for side tables while still having it easy to walk through. there arent that many small sidetables available rn i like but maybe could add the teal and red decoupage one to this?

for the one above: second one is a little better for walking past and eventually could try to find one matching sidetable, but could be nice to have two like the first one (the hexagon tables fit about equally if those look better to people)

good question! ill start off by saying that it certainly did the opposite of change my mind about my classpect for grian; the concept of limited life is, quite literally, the most witch of time lookin ahh game i have ever seen, so! that checks out. (witch of time)
realising that scott has basically won the life series three times in a row solidified his place as an active class in my head, but the means by which he does it somehow push me more towards passive? my brain says that the fact that he just kind of stays out of the way and grows stronger while nobody is paying attention to him is more bard-like than prince-like, but at the same time, i think he's less passive and more benevolent. if he wanted, he could have won three times in a row (which is insane), but he just thinks that isn't fun so. yeah! long explanation to say that i wavered but ultimately he's still the same. (prince of mind)
limlife tango (and most other tangos, if i'm being real) sort of teeters towards a mage of doom for me. he's very VERY sollux-coded, and while classpecting based on one really big personality trait that is interesting is fun, it's nice to look at the more accurate one, too. even disregarding the 'death' part of doom, the 'technology' aspect of it obviously makes sense to fit with tango. i love the guy dearly, but all of his final deaths seem to end up being inconsequential in the grand scheme of things, harming himself and himself alone (for the most part). also, he is an excellent vibe checker and fuller predicted martyn being a little garbage rat to win limlife, and i think it's an excellent situation where he took all of his prior experiences both with the death game and also with martyn being a menace and made this accurate prediction. this isn't the most thought out thing ever, but i definitely think tango As A Whole and not just The Tango That Gets Mad is very mage of doom coded. bdubs is one that i was already a bit ehhhhh on when i made the post. at this point in time, my brain is swaying me actually towards blummin light, which is deranged and i dont really know how to explain it. [imagine theres about a 15 minute pause between me writing these two sentences as i conduct a bit of research.] actually. hear me out: bdubs as a knight of light. i might actually change this for double life too (in my head, not for the au due to overlapping classpects). hes so light-coded, idk how i didn't see it before. goal-oriented…loves being in the spotlight…even the collecting knowledge aspect that i had pegged to him as a seer works better in assigning it to light. and the knight bit just feels right to me: doubts about his importance to the groups and teams he's been in and the people he's loved? getting a bit meta, you could even point out cc!bdubs saying that he's not posting his limlife pov because everything important that he did was seen in other people's episodes; his importance as a character has been defined by his effect on others. kinda love this. knight of light bdubs. letsgoooo (knight of light)
impulse deffo stays as a blood player, and im pretty sure his bard class stays, too. he made it to the end by riding off the promises he made with his team ("ties makes it to the final three!" T-T), and we must remember that bard also means destroying through blood. and his goofy ahh got betrayed AGAIN lmao (it was less 'betrayed' and more 'tricked,' but. same difference). (bard of blood)
martyn has, like grian, done the absolute OPPOSITE of changed. bro has CANONICAL SOUL FRACTURES THATS CRAZZYYYYYYYY LMAO. heart player (CANON + CONFIRMED). and no, him betraying scott does not take him out of the heart player faction: he defended scott with tooth and nail and blood until the end, him killing scott ONLY SO THAT HE COULD WIN is just furthering his damn arc in learning to fight for himself. he's still heart-coded as hell. ahhhhhh!!! you can honestly project and imagine whatever you want onto rip!mc she's meant to be written that way!!! but yes haha if you know me then you probably im a very big proponent of having platonic and romantic love overlap. to me there's no clear boundary that marks romantic from platonic vice versa and i don't really think it's something to be necessarily distinguished as different. love is love you know. but also imo our western constructs of romantic love vs platonic love works to our detriment. it places too much of a heavy burden on a partner to fulfill all your emotional needs and emphasizes romantic fulfillment over platonic fulfillment when ideally you should have both! anyway I went off on a tangent lmfao. In the end love is love and rip!mc sees that. no matter how many people you love or how you love. I am sooo looking forward to actually writing mimiko and nanako past a few lines. I know I mainly focus on megumi but all the kids are very precious!!! as I said before you can definitely read rip!mc as pansexual/aromantic (which other ppl have also hc'd her) thank you for reading I'm glad you enjoyed it!!!

Oughhhhhhh very very VERY specific to this au fearplay.
So. It's a game right. Self aware au. Game world, game rules, files, code, etc etc. GOOD. Also I'm making it canon for this au that Akira REALLY likes the game's music because of course he does. That is important for scenario 1 and 2. Sound-based horror is UNDERRATED.
3 scenarios.
Scenario 1: Takes place in the corrupted Palace. It is very corrupted for two reasons, one being that it isn't supposed to exist in the game by any means, and two that it's actually a fusion of two separate Palaces (being Akira's and the player's, actually it's a whole twist of the plot that it's Akira's Palace at all because there is so much specific overlap between Akira and the player that I will be more than happy to go into). Anyways, in the middle of the thing, right. Spiralling hallway, looks like a set designer for the game took acid, the squad is making their way down into the depths.
The lights dim ever so slightly.
A voice, echoing and large.
" And as you look to the horizon, not a cloud..."
All the Phantom Thieves freeze. The voice is... singing?
"But then stormy weather's caught you cold."
The voice drowns out the heartbeats in their ears as the group clusters together for safety.
"Seems like it crept up out of nowhere all around you..."
The lights have fizzled out just in time to hide the tendrils of pitch black goo creeping along the walls, covering everything but the darkened lights.
"It's not quite what you foretold..."
The squelching of slime is buried under the playful, chipper tone. A pair of blood red hands, each larger than any of the Thieves were tall, encircle the unaware adventurers in the darkness.
" You'll never see it-
"
The lights come on.
Scenario 2: Shadow Akira is loose in Shibuya after the fusion. The Phantom Thieves had run, but they were now painfully aware that reality was no longer their savior. As the crashing footsteps approach, they could hear... music? Soaring, grand guitar chords that make Player's eyes widen with recognition. But... it was discordant, distorted and combined with a rumbling bass that made the small bits of debris leap into the air with every beat.
" I-Is that... Yaldaboath's battle theme?!?"
Amidst the cacophony, a towering figure rises among the skyscrapers, thunderous, mocking laughter makes the asphalt beneath the Phantom Thieves quake with terror equal to their own.
Scenario 3: Less of a specific moment and more of a concept. Sure, big Akira, but also big everyone else. From Player's perspective. You see, getting snatched into the game made them itty bitty, and now EVERYTHING IS WORSE AND INFINITELY SCARIER. But also the entire squad's reactions to smol Player, including Akira's. Idk I think this has potential to maybe calm them down more as compared to them being normal sized. Like interacting with Futaba, for example, would be less nerve wracking when you're posed alongside her Featherman dolls than if you're having to perceive her as entirely a real, regular person after thinking she in no way shape or form existed in any kind of reality. Also Akechi would be generally gentler with them much faster than in his actual arc because Player was VERY much attached to him during their playthrough and he had NO clue how to process or handle that, but he cannot bring himself to be beefing with someone who's 6 inches tall and looks at him like 🥺. Yusuke's interactions would be interesting too, since he's in the same situation, just having an inverse reaction. He is very nice to them and gentle and lovey and the sole reason why they haven't just completely mentally shattered. I have found the PEAK of comedy in Maruki's reaction to this, that being "how the kentucky fried fuck am I supposed to give this child therapy when they are SO HECKIN SMOL"
AND HOLY DICKWAGON THE PALACE SEGMENTS WOULD BE SO SCARY. For context, in the Palace are shadows of the Phantom Thieves, who look normal at first but then turn into, for lack of a better term, waifu themed dnd mimics. YOU ARE SO SMALL. THE SHADOW THIEVES ARE HUGE AND SCARY AND OUT TO KILL YOU SPECIFICALLY AND THAT IS 5 MILLION TIMES EASIER NOW.

How do you decide the layouts of ur comics?
oooo okay let's talk about this bc i love doing layouts.
like a lot of things, it's practice and study. i've read a lot of comics from a very early age and how i frame things is very informed by my love of film analysis. so i have a foundation set up to understand and i can make decisions on gut instinct a lot of the times but! those gut instincts do follow some rules of thumb.
big emotions/big moments need big panels! sometimes an open panel is even better for momentous occasions here's an example from my "you're all i want (so much it's hurting)" comic. Big motions/emotions + a small detail moment.

you can also combine big panel/small emotion to make a cute little quiet moment which can be a good moment of closure. sort of like a period at the end of a sentence.
i usually do layouts with the idea of it going to print for a book in mind. so i'm always leading the eye through the page but we always start from top left corner to bottom right. you can usually force readers in a certain direction horizontally but people are always gonna read top to bottom so you kind of have to layout based on that.
in SOHAE ch 4 p1 I use a combination of the text and the sizing of characters/panels to lead the eye. in the first panel is pretty straightforward and neither characters are particularly emphasized. in the next panel Percy is the biggest and highest contract part of the page as you move downwards. then the sizing of the panels leads you down in the correct order with help from the text.
this is also an example of how i try to use panel sizing for emotional emphasis. the panels getting smaller as Annabeth starts feeling/trying to make herself smaller. while in the page from your all i want (so much it's hurting) percy is feeling very big and loud, so he gets an entire open panel and takes up most of said panel.

the other big rule of thumb is that more space between panels = more time passing between those moments
here is a moment from you're all i want (so much it's hurting) where there is no time between the two panels so they're basically overlapping (also a moment of big emotion/moment + small detail)

also sometimes you have a character doing a big sweeping motion that you want to emphasize and pull focus towards/make the motion feel big so i break panel borders for that usually. this is an example from the spread in SOHAE ch1

another thing i like to do regarding communicating the passage of time is to scramble a bunch of panels to imply a less concrete span of time/montage. this is usually helped by putting the characters in wildly different situations to show montage.

here's my same trick but used for smaller details/transitions. you can see i keep close on the details so that there's no implication of being in a different environment/moment

with comics you get a lot of leeway to jump between motions and emotions. ppl rlly will fill in the gaps for you a lot. but sometimes i want to emphasis an emotion/transition of emotions or motion so small stuff like this serves that purpose

i always make a point to establish an environment at some point. traditionally this is done with an establishing shot at the very beginning but personally i find that you don't always have to do that especially if you have a very character driven story. here is how i establish where they are at the end of SOHAE 4 after spending most of the chapter on character faces.

in todays chapter i do it in a smaller way by just including the window to establish that they're on a tour bus (or just, traveling on a vehicle of some sort, idk i think it looks a bit like a train tbh? but it's nbd)

for text i usually break it up based on where a pause would be if you were speaking out loud.
of course the best way to study paneling is to see what your faves are doing! and also what your faves faves are doing. my fave graphic novels atm are Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me which is where I draw a lot of my inspiration from. And The Magic Fish.

Something crazy that's not overt in this current battle in the hospital, but it's a running theme I suppose, is how it's a ...battle of voices? It isn't physical power that will decide how this will end but what voices will be heard:the mutants are finally making their voices heard and are also being responded by Shouji who is trying to make his voice heard and even removing his mask for it, Koda power is in place and it's voice based, Mic is here and he can take over and make it so only his voice will be heard and can eclipse all the other's voices, and finally if Kurogiri hears AFO his programming will make him awake but he will be controled by him since Noumus can only follow commands...I'm beginning to believe that if Kurogiri hears Tenko's voice he will be able to fight his programming unitying his Shirakumo side with his current status, freeing himself from AFO and turning the tides, what do you think?
Yeah I think you're totally right about the voices thing! There's so many voices all at once and it's really a battle (physically and mentally) of who will get through to who first
Personally though, I think the voices thing isn't just limited to this arc. It's what bnha is about
You know, getting through to people. Getting through to the villains. Especially with Izuku and Tomura, Shouto and Dabi, and Ochako and Toga
But it can be found anywhere too. It's in the way Tomura has been crying for help, Dabi talking to Tokoyami about Twice's death, Twice and Hawks, the second license exam and trying to get through to the kids, Izuku vs Class 1A, Ochako speaking to the crowd in the return to UA etc etc
It's really what's been happening this whole time. The story is a conversation between different kinds of people and their ideals and experiences, overlapping in the air until one overcomes the other - like you said, "It isn't physical power that will decide how this will end but what voices will be heard". That applies to the story too I think
Though of course there are big shounen battles which is par for the course of reading shounen lol
But, yes, that definitely also includes this plot line centered on heteromorphs - a topic that has been talked about and touched on in the past, but has now come back into focus. EXTREMELY important, given the fact that it's a topic with a ton of different experiences all in one area (Spinner and Shouji being from villages and suffering from discrimination, Kouda being from the city implying that he has faced little to no discrimination despite being a heteromorph himself, PLF general talking about heteromorph massacre in history, the Heroes in the middle of the battle who haven't gone through anything like that)
And this arc is also a little more specific in the use of voices. I mean, like you said, we have two voice-based quirks in the battle (Mic and Kouda, interesting), then there's Shouji removing his mask and speaking about his experiences and wants for the future, but there's also the PLF general announcing to the mob and stirring everyone up, and AFO (the voice inside Spinner's mind - even if just in a memory, it's still a voice and it is influencing/controlling Spinner)
About Kurogiri; I don't know how exactly he would hear AFO's voice or how he would hear Tomura's voice (whether they personally go over to the hospital or it's some kind of mind connection thing idk, though yeah if it does happen, they definitely tie into the voice thing too)
BUT I fr have been thinking the same thing, about the Kurogiri side (warp, memories of villainy, loyalty to Tomura) merging with his Shirakumo side (the boy who wanted to be a hero, the boy who loved his friends and saved a kitten) and THAT being how he frees himself from the control and turning the tides
LIKE?? I'd fucking love that. I honestly think something like that is going to happen at some point, whether it's this arc or not. The Villain side combining with a Heroes heart and choosing to, idk, help the situation with the Heroes or specifically help Tomura and/or the League? Maybe both in some way?
I think it'd be so cool
Again, I'm not sure about how exactly Kurogiri would hear AFO and Tomura, but Kurogiri combining both sides of him to somehow help the situation would be a real tide changer that's for sure
