Huh.

Ami was a missing-nin. She saw Kakuzu dismember some guy with his bare hands, then crack his ribcage open and eat his heart with the horrific nest of tentacles that lives inside him, and she thought: "Yeah, I want to climb him like a tree."

They hooked up while they were sharing the same town and then went their separate ways. They traded occasional correspondence afterwards, largely, but not entirely, because Ami had a child from their hook up.

There's not really a lot of "catching" or "maintaining a relationship" going on...

Ami's entire character is actually described in Deadbeat. She's a small, blond missing-nin. Pregnancy and childbirth ruined her body. She can't work very much but she trades information illicitly, and she moves around a lot for missing-nin reasons (and debt-fleeing reasons). Her brief association with Kakuzu is enough to get her put on an international watch list. She dies of a viral illness and is survived by one child, who is the main character.

i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.
