DunMeshi perfectly nails the found family trope, by the way. every character is equal, but distinctively different and makes up a part of the whole. Senshi feeds the party, because that's what he's good at, and what he knows. Chilchuck might scold everyone for being idiotic and stupid, but that's not because he's their dad, it's because that's his personality. there's no hierarchy or structure, no roles for the characters to fall into

it's a family by choice, and i fucking love to see it

but it's Rose and Jed and the Corinthian is the cool uncle who pops by and takes Jed to eat ice-cream and amusement parks and just accidentally leaves the thing that Rose happens to be needing that week around. Oh, a sandwich and... candy? Oh, nice the hole in the wall is repaired. Oh a new fridge. Why is there a jar of eyes–

And then discussions happen "yea kid gotta do what it takes to survive. I know how it is when parents ain't around."

Rose stresses out for her law school exams so the Corinthian asks her questions on the material. He thinks it's all bullshit because

"No problem that can't be solved with murder or sex."

It actually really puts things in perspective for Rose. Just maybe there are worse things in the universe than potentially failing law exams (she won't).

"You're so perfect all the time kiddo, gotta unwind a little." And The Corinthian just takes her and Jed to the places he's been to he thinks are the coolest.

He shows Jed his collection of portraits of people who have the most perfect teeth.

"Do you have to brush yours? Eye-teeth I mean? Cause I hate brushing my teeth couldn't imagine doing it three times."

"Jed–" Rose tries to interrupt. But Jed has questions.

"Do you have three oesophagi ? I learned the word oesophagus in biology today."

Increasingly bothered Corinthian rakes hand through his hair. "Uh–"

What was he thinking.

"Can you laugh with them? Are they connected or can you use them like independent one from the other. How can you even ACTUALLY SEE"

"I DON'T KNOW AIGHT– ask Morpheus."

Rose is not a vortex anymore but these kids attract trouble, petty criminals, flaming sofas on wheels, and malevolent entities like the Corinthian has never seen.

Rose doesn't know of course.

The Corinthian always gets to them first.

Once Dream visits and Rose almost calls him granddad.

#the bear is the only one I have left from my actual childhood #All the rest got lost in moves or I gave them to my little siblings #I had a velvet rabbit from my mom.... another rabbit #A duck. A small cat that my memaw made from a pattern on the back of a stuffing back (saddest about that one)#A sheep thats like those old fashioned bottle holders your apparently not supposed to use (i dont think they ever actually used it to hold #my bottles)#and a build a bear rabbit that my dad got for me when my parents sent me to visit my cusins for a week while getting divorced #BUT these are the ones I have now! plus a whole bunch of crocheted #Not pictured: a bunch of mini crochet nightmare before christmas dolls my grandma made #I took a picture with them in it but they arnt showing up #zero (who i keep wanting to call pluto for some fucking reason) is in my car #The bear my dad gave me. idk when. when i was like 7 or so? i think?#the fish my dad gave me.... It’s crazy how other people perceive you different than you do like wym y’all perceive me and that perception can either be a distortion of me or an exact mirror but I’ll never recognize either because neither of us have the full context behind those perceptions

#I was in the shower and I was thinking cause I was just watching supernatural with my mom and I ALWAYS related with dean like I clocked #fucker as queer season one during the shape shifter episode and I felt such a strong connection to him not only there but in the sacrifices #he made for not only Sam but also his dad and in his protectiveness and his need to provide and his humor and everything I felt it deep in #my soul but I remember my older sister who’s also a big fan of the show telling me I remind her of Sam because of how nice he is and being #so fucking shocked #because to all my friends and HER SON I was dean but to her I was sam and that was crazy to me as like a 13 year old #a couple years later her son tells me I remind him of amethyst from Steven universe and I am once again shocked to my core because #every one of my peers have told me I remind them of Steven but to my nephew the boy I raised I was amethyst #and I wasn’t shocked he didn’t see me as Steven because I knew he saw himself as Steven but I was shocked he didn’t see me as a pearl or a #garnet cause this is the kid who used to fully call me both mom and dad #but to him I’m amethyst #idk it’s crazy how different people perceive you and like trying to trace the context of what got lost in translation or what they see that #you don’t or what they can’t see because you so purposefully hid it from them
