I've seen the last '"g-d made you perfect" that I can handle, and it's led me to a realization about how I think of g-d.
I don't think we were made perfect. We were made human. And, if I'm honest, the only perfection in my mind is g-d, and that sense of perfection is what differentiates humans from g-d. If humans were as perfectly-made as g-d, I for one wouldn't see the point in following, believing, trusting, caring for, or loving g-d.
I guess for me, I see the ways in which humans alter the Way We Were Created that I really don't think it's right to speculate as to if there's a limit to altering our abilities or bodies. For instance, as a trans person, I've definitely been inundated with this idea that because g-d made my body "perfect" that I shouldn't alter it ever, but isn't that a dangerous precedent? Is it really so, that our bodies are magically made perfect, as g-d that to even tamper with the idea of change would be the same as cursing g-d? I really don't think that's compelling.
I love thinking about just how much g-d is placed into people, but I don't think it warrants restricting the ability to learn, create, grow, or change. Thank g-d that He created the ability to change!

rin will hastily tag along with you when you tell him you’re shopping for swimwear that afternoon and while you’re skimming through the racks of clothing you loose sight of him for a bit and you think he must have decided to sit down to let you wander around freely but then he returns with a pile of all different kinds of bathing suits in his hands telling you a bit bashfully that he thought those would look good on you. (you’re a little surprised when you notice they’re all the skimpiest two pieces you’ve ever seen btw… it swells your ego that he wants to see you wearing those, that he wants to show you off… also i think hes particularly keen on those bikinis that you have to tie together. he absolutely loves it when you ask him to help you tie the back of your top also thinks they’re a bit risqué and it makes him a little crazy… is constantly playing with the strings of your bottoms that look so good digging into your thighs…) goes inside the fitting room with you to help you tie the bikini tops and kisses your shoulder before standing behind you with his hands on your waist and you’re trying very hard to suppress a smuggish smile from showing because he’s staring so intensily and he’s so tense, his hands are digging at your waist and it’s kinda amusing “so?”
“look so fucking good.” it's so characteristically blunt and you chuckle softly because he’s said that about all the bikini sets you’ve tried on so far. and he means it. you tell him to help you pick one but he's sooo far gone and he feels a little guilty because he's not being much of a help but he's only thinking about hurrying back home where you'll model your new purchase for him like you always do (a way to show him your gratitude, you say, for spending his money on you yet again. he thinks it’s a fair exchange.) he'll close his eyes as per your request as you walk out of the en-suite bathroom of your shared room - doesn't matter he bought it for you, that he's seen you in it and that he's been thinking of you in it ever since. he's thinking of beckoning you closer to him sitting in bed and kissing your exposed tummy. you'll smile, knowingly, because you know how he gets, because you’re all too aware of what he wants yet is too reluctant to put into words, when he begins to play with the strings of your bottoms, his face still buried in the plush of your stomach - a bit too embarrassed to let you in on his desire, scared that it is too flagrant on his features. he feels his greed might be inadequate. you'll smile and guide his hands to your waist, it's okay, you can touch me, and he will trail his hands up your spine and strip you slowly, starting at the knot on your back, followed by the knot on your neck and then the ones on each side of your hips...
he's rushing out of the fitting room with the pile of different bikini sets you couldnt choose from and goes straight to the register to pay for all three of them despite your protests that three new sets is excessive and completely unecessary.

idk if you saw the new chud logic video but he brings up a good point: lots of people are agreeing that hbomb is not responsible for James’ alleged suicide, which is true. HOWEVER. would people be saying the same thing if hbomb were right wing? If he made the exact same video…. But didn’t have leftist political views? Would people still say he wasn’t responsible? Or would they call him a murderer?
He also brings up how hbomb’s audience constantly tracking James is very similar to kiwifarms behavior, which is a website that everyone on the online left seems to actively hate. They even claim that the website has driven people to suicide, which… isn’t that what hbomb has allegedly just done with James? If you know kiwifarms, you know that website is HARSH. But so was hbomb’s video. I loved the video, but you have to admit. There was like 1hr 30min of dunking on James specifically. And even though he said not to harass anyone on his behalf, he only said this for like 30 seconds before immediately going back to tearing James apart.
I’m not saying I’m above internet drama. I love rolling around in the mud of the internet. I love watching internet weirdos do weird internet things. But idk how you can act more morally pure about this kind of stuff. Like yeah it was fun to dunk on his misogyny and everything but like ??? People have done way worse. At least kiwifarms has tracked and warned people about multiple predators such as Chris Chan and Nick Bate and even Kero the Wolf iirc. James’ worse crime was stealing work from fellow gays and also stealing money. Pretty bad but like Cmon.

which character(s) would mostly have a breeding kink? My best bet is yae miko since she's a fox
Miko, Ganyu, Lynette, Rosaria, Amber, Sara, Ayaka, Shenhe, Yanfei, Layla and Dehya.
Miko, Rosaria, Sara, Shenhe, Yanfei and Dehya want to breed you, while Ganyu, Lynette, Ayaka and Layla want to be bred.
Amber is both. She wants to breed you and be bred 💕

The biggest tragedy of the dead plate fandom is how people think that Rody is the "La la la la la la" and Vincent is the "OK OK OK OK OK OK" when if you really look at their relationship it's the other way around

wait which one is dirk is he the yellow jacket man. if he's the yellow jacket man then oh my god that first episode. i didn't truly get it but i watched it and was like HE'S LIKE ME!!! HE'S LIKE ME!!! anyways more autistic headcanons pleaaaaaaase pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase pleaaaaaaaaaaase starts licking away your eye grime
first of all YOU WATCHED THE 1ST EPISODE AND NEVER TOLD ME??? second of all yes he's the yellow jacket man!! third of all "he's so me" was also my first reaction.
here's a concise(ish) list of my recent autistic dirk thoughts/headcanons!!
1. Has a strong drive for autonomy, which leads to him impulsively jumping in to take control of things (like when he snatches things out of the other's hands to look at)
2. Can be very stubborn when it comes to his own beliefs and behaviour even if it's technically bad, and can get annoyed if Todd/Farah/Anyone challenges it.
3. Stims with the zipper of his jackets. The noise annoys Farah and they have to learn to compromise.
4. Hyperfocuses very intensely on things so he doesn't realise time passing at all. Needs to set multiple alarms throughout the day to stay on track with stuff.
5. Seeks sensory input through food. I've made multiple jokes about this before but he really likes elaborate sugary food because it makes his brain go "yay!!"
6. Terrible, god awful sleep schedule.

okay. i feel like theres still Some People who may check the land of stories tag on here the way i occasionally do i know theres some fans of the series here at least. since a while back i wrote out an entire paragraph to briefly explain why im insane about lloyd bailey to my friends who dont know tlos, i figure, WHY NOT POST IT ON HERE where people who also know the series (and therefore this character) might see it <3 its at least a little funny to see how i try to explain things in tlos like the hall of dreams briefly with little to no details. this is also kind of like a brief summation of everything we know about lloyd AND JOHNS childhood which is interesting. see below.
sits down. let me set the scene. lloyd bailey is the younger son in a set of two. his mother is a very powerful fairy (#fairygodmother) who’s kind of like the chancellor of an entire kingdom. lloyd and his older brother john both very much have magic in their blood because of this. lloyd’s father dies when he is very young. he is “not the same” afterwards. he thinks his older brother john, who handles his fathers passing arguably “better”, is the favorite child. john is happy and cheerful and everyone loves him. lloyd sits in his dark room and reads books like the iron mask all day. lloyd’s mother does not know how to get to him. she figures out how to make a potion that can bring books to life, since he likes to read so much. she offers it to him. he turns her down. she goes into this magic little hallway (infinite space) where she can see what people truly desire. lloyd the 11 year olds desire (i don’t know how old he is.) is to take over the world. hm. a bit concerning. his mother takes him out into the forest on a nice walk, chains him to a tree, and drains his magic from him. lloyd is not a fan of his mother for this. he tells her that she never would’ve done this to john. his mother considers her action stopping him before he wreaks havoc on everything. lloyd considers this having his “birthright” stripped from him for “a crime [he] never committed” (direct quote). lloyd despises his mother. he runs away from home not long after. he considers the potion his mother made his. he only comes back home to try and steal it. he fails. he is sentenced to life in prison. his mother gives him a mask to wear so no one knows he’s her son. john moves to the otherworld and starts a family. lloyd rots in prison. lloyd’s son who he doesn’t know about is born. lloyd rots in prison. john dies. lloyd rots in prison. his mother loves john’s children and starts to train one of them in being her successor. this could’ve been lloyd. lloyd rots in prison. he doesn’t escape until his niece and nephew are teenagers and his niece is about ten times more powerful than him. because she has the gift that was ripped out of his hands. lloyd hates the world he lives in and its people and seeks to destroy it as soon as he’s out. i wonder why. in conclusion. im normal about him.

Are there any companions you can't stand?
I wouldn't say I have any that I can't stand. Something that's so engaging to me about DA is that the companions have good, bad, and a lot in between. Honestly, I don't hate any of them. There are companions that I have more issues with than others, but I like them all; even, and sometimes especially, the ones that tend to be heavily hated on by the fandom.
The only companion that might fall into this category for me is Sebastian, but I totally acknowledge that I've yet to make an effort to use him when I play DA2. I legit just forget about him. How am I supposed to have a good grasp of his character when I don't engage with him outside of his companion quests? Plus I usually romance Anders so Sebastian always leaves my party in the end with threats of bringing an army down on Kirkwall for not killing Anders, soooo... yeah. Not the greatest impression he's left me with.
I would like to have a more well-rounded opinion of Sebastian because the concept of him is interesting; he's this chantry brother who is also a prince, but his family was murdered so he puts up a bounty on the chantry board [which admittedly is SO funny] and his companion quests are about avenging his family and helping him decide if he should take back his lands or remain a chantry brother. But then I talk to him, I listen to him talk to the other companions, and it's like... oh, the chantry has become his entire personality because the dude was brainwashed and now he's saying shit like the maker was actually the one who freed Fenris from slavery, and when Fenris tells him a story about how Denarius killed a child in a ritual for more power, Sebastian just doubles down that the maker has his reasons, like....babe, c'mon now.
I feel like I've read pieces about him written by fans who love him that are more compellingly written than he is, if that makes sense. Really, I would love to be educated by those who love him, especially Sebastian romancers because of all the love interests in all of DA, he's the one I look at and go, "....okay but why?" I have a lot of fun with character discussions and other perspectives so I mean that sincerely.
Also I think it's worth noting that when I play, I tend to get super into the roleplay of my warden/hawke/inquisitor, but while they have party members they can't stand, I have opinions that are separate from them, y'know?
For example, since I've talked about it a lot recently, my mage Hawke and Aveline butt heads constantly. By the end of Act 3, they're rivalry is heated and Ed's surprised Aveline even sided with him in the end because THAT is how much their relationship deteriorated over the course of the game... but then there's my warrior Hawke who adored Aveline. The two of them were best friends and Aris always gave her the benefit of the doubt, like she had Aveline's back through and through.
I've complained about Aveline a lot in my posts so it probably does sound like I can't stand her, but that's not true. Aveline's actually a companion that fascinates me, like she makes me go, "God, you're such an asshole, tell me more right now." and it drives me crazy how she and Carver are foils, like I love it so much, I could go on and on about how foiled they are, it makes me want to bite something.
It's very easy to look at Aveline and think she's just a bitch, she's a cop, she's a bad character, #Aveline-critical, bad companion, etc. I see it all the time, and not just with her, but with every companion in dragon age, y'know? I'm not saying that's wrong or anything; some characters just don't vibe with you or you have legit reasons for hating them and that's fine. I'm just saying some of it's very surface level unless you make the effort to elaborate.
If you don't like a character, you're less likely to make an effort to understand or see anything positive about them. You're more likely to have confirmation bias, so whenever they do or say anything, you go looking for the worst interpretation. I try not to do this just because for me, that's the "boring" approach to games like this but as we've seen, I'm not immune either... y'know, Sebastian.
But Carver gets this a lot, too, and I think I've made myself clear that Carver is my favorite, I love him, the Hawke twins are S-tier companions and I would throw everyone in Kirkwall into the ocean if it meant Bethany and Carver's happiness.
Now that I'm thinking about it, the characters a lot of fans can't stand are some of my favorites?
Like a lot of people shit on Sera, and I'm like "Nah, that's my girl! Listen, she's got a LOT of internalized issues, but we're working through them okay! She's getting better!"
And Vivienne? Oh, don't get me started on Vivienne, I have a whole deal about her. She's also an asshole and I love her.
My canon inquisitor is Surana who escaped the circle and joined the dalish, becoming Lavellan. Vivienne is a reflection of what Ash could've been if she hadn't run away with Jowan. She played the game of the circle, she stepped wherever she needed to step because Ash knew she was at a disadvantage by being an elf, for one, and for two, not coming from a family with wealth that would give her special privileges. Her downfall was buying into her own hype and believing she couldn't be wrong about Jowan, believing that she could either prevent them from making him tranquil or help him and Lily run away, and believing she was above punishment because she worked her way into being Irving's favorite. Yet it all bit her in the ass and she had to run… so then years later after living outside of the circle and realizing just what the chantry is, how it conditions and abuses mages and shit, she meets Vivienne who also played the game well and came out on top, who now spouts the same shit Ash used to spout and it's makes their dynamic sooo chewable.
Then there's Cullen who's not a companion but I lump him and Josephine in with the companions anyway. They're advisors, they're in the inner circle, they count.
He's such a spineless ass in DA2 like believe me, I get all the criticisms he gets... but he's also fairly polite to Hawke even if they're openly anti-templar, he's softer spoken, and he's unwell after what happened to him in DAO and Meredith's clearly taking advantage of his state... but then he becomes an advisor in DAI who is so done with people's bullshit and blatantly honest about it, like he looks at Chancellor Roderick like "this fucking guy again" and he's so ready to just go for it, y'know? Well... unless you're a pretty lady who bats her eyes at him, then suddenly he doesn't know how words work. Like sometimes I feel crazy because I find him to be so funny in DAI, and overall a compelling character that I enjoy interacting with even when he's being a total asshole. Yeah, there's issues in his writing but I appreciate the vision the writers were going for, even if they stumbled... except for Sheryl Chee, I don't appreciate her contribution of those few posts on the DA forums that everyone uses as a smoking gun to "prove" awful things about him. Nothing gets under my skin more in character discussions than bad faith arguments and there's so much of that when it comes to Cullen.
Actually, while we're on that, can I just add a note that when I first got into this fandom, I saw someone's post about Chee doing an interview where she said all those bad things about Cullen wanting to assault the mage warden and I was like, "What? An interview? What interview?? Where??" and I couldn't find shit until much later when I read another anti-Cullen post that cited a DA forum as the source for her saying those things... so not an interview. I went digging for the forum, went into the way back machine to find it.... only to discover that this smoking gun comes from a fanfiction forum where Mary Kirby was also talking about Sten and catgirls and y'all expect me to take that seriously?
We can have discussions about whether or not Cullen's a bad person or a bad character, but the moment you bring Sheryl Chee into it, I know you're here in bad faith and your argument is void.
Sorry for the tangent and the long answer but this is the stuff I enjoy. I could talk about the characters of DA for ages unprompted that when someone does throw me a bone, I will discuss and gush about them all.
#asks#dragon age#dao#da2#dai#sebastian vael#aveline vallen#carver hawke#dai sera#cullen rutherford#vivienne de fer#i have to stop myself before i go on tangents about morrigan and wynne and anders and isabela and merrill and dorian and varric and-#literally everyone sksksks i can't help it#also on the flip side of this type of discussion i also love looking at characters that most people adore and discussing their flaws#like i love alistair he's my favorite companion in dao BUT it's easy to forgot that he can be just as petty and selfish too y'know?#if you don't execute loghain he can straight up just abandon you and leave and you'll find him in da2 as a drunk like... babe really left#and let you deal with the blight because he was so blinded by revenge and thirst for loghain's death and that's not great??#not really something that gets brought up because it's unflattering it's an ugly part of his character but it's there mingling with the goo#and if you have a good relationship with him but don't know how he'll react when you spare loghain that can be devastating too#but it's also super understandable WHY he reacts like that WHY he leaves even if it's a selfish move on his part and hurts you#i dunno i think sometimes we're scared to talk about the ugly parts of our favorite characters because we love them#and don't want them to be wrong especially in fandom with a lot of pissing matches and bad faith arguments y'know?#i dunno this is my spiel of the night: i love all my companions except sebastian who is just a character that exists to me#i wasn't joking when i said i'd like to be enlighted about sebby and his romance like....... explain elaborate educate

Before I start:
as much as I love to complain, I have always tried to be hopeful, and positive, and I still will. And I obviously know that the livehood of real people are much more important and I do wish them the best, I really do.
But I need one moment. Just one moment where I can be selfishly negative and upset, bring back some of my worst traits and thoughts, and let them out before I can be back to still hope that somehow there was something in motion behind the scenes in preparation of something like that.
That said.
This is what I get for believing in something, having hope, and love something. I stopped caring for so many things during the years. The world is shit, the fields of my greatest passions are ruled by a bunch of greedy assholes, and my only way to protect myself was to stop caring, stop seeking new things to love only to find myself heartbroken again and again. I stopped, until there was only one thing left. And as much as I hoped that having just ONE thing would have saved me from this pain, it didn't. They're taking it away too.
How can I even try to hope for a better world, for a life that works for me, to be content with it, if they won't even let me keep my facorite show? What is the point of loving if I always end up hurting? Every morning I wake up and choose to look for the good things, and for what? It feels like there are less and less. Why even try?
I am so tired. Every time I work to reach something, I get knocked all the way back. Every time I love something, it gets taken away from me. I don't get to win. I don't get to look forward anything. Everything always gets worse. And I am so tired.
I want to have hope. I NEED to hope that somehow things will work out, and I know that I will keep to do so until they take it away from my dead body. But right now, all I want to do is cry, and all I wish for is for someone to hold me and tell me that everything will be okay.

I've been reading all these sacrifice asks, and I think it warrants a question from me too. Let's add a bit to the angst (or rather, the conondrums, I think).
What would be the RO's general opinions of a Hound who clearly learned to enjoy life and not just act like a weapon for their king, and who is wildly loyal to THE KING specifically, not to Camelot? Meaning, they wouldn't die for Camelot itself on their own, but would sacrifice themself without batting an eye if Arthur ordered them to do something that would surely kill them in the process in order to save the kingdom. Assuming of course there is no visible alternative to giving that order.
Because I feel like that would be a very VERY different situation than the ROs picking to save either the Hound or Camelot, OR to their reactions to a Hound who "merely" sacrificed themself on their own volition. I mean, it's still on their own volition in a way, but because the king explicitly ordered what lead to that.
Or maybe would Arthur even not be able to give such an order, even if they'd pick Camelot over the Hound if HE was the one to actually be doing something leading to that result?
Ohh more delicious angst
Arthur would rather burn alive than ever order MC to sacrifice themselves. You will see how much Arthur can do and the length he can go so that people he cares about won't suffer or bear a burden alone. I think in this situation, Arthur wouldn't be able to tell MC to sacrifice themselves. Camelot would fall before he could do it to them. Romanced or not, close or not, Arthur would never do it.
This is what Uther did. Tell his knights to die in his name. To endure unbearable pain for Camelot. He won't be like his father.
Ultimately, Arthur would sacrifice MC only if MC was telling him to do so. Or if he knew with certainty that MC would want him to choose Camelot over themselves. Otherwise, Arthur couldn't bear to sacrifice MC. If his Hound so much as let a small quantity of hesitation or desperation, Arthur couldn't condemn them.
Even if he knew Camelo would fall. He just couldn't.

Have you tweaked the character from canon? If so, what did you tweak?
//I am perfectly aware of the rabbit hole I am opening by asking this. I'm opening it on purpose.
[canon questionnaire]
ohoho, an enabler. i take every opportunity i can to talk worldbuilding and canon divergence in-character so this is great actually. may your harvest be bountiful or something. thank you!
this is probably going to be incredibly long-winded and ramble-y, so bear with me. i love talking about this guy.
to start, i completely threw out the "expand the land" bit. that's goofy. not as bad as archie's thing, but still. and that's the main thing--rse-era maxie does NOT give you much to work with in terms of character.
however, the stuff that is there is... interesting i guess? and i started with that for the basis of the personality he has in both my fic and this blog. first off, he's the antagonist you have the most contact with once he's introduced. you have to battle him the first three times you meet him, before ever having to battle archie. second, he has some great lines during the climax--pointing out to the player his own hypocrisy when he criticizes archie has stuck with me since i was literally ten years old. he's convinced he can't actually do anything about groudon and kyogre fighting, but he also doesn't just give up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and he and archie both do try to help in what way they can. they don't accomplish anything, but they do try.
and THEN there's the way he was portrayed in oras, which i also pulled from despite the fic and blog being based on emerald. in oras, he acknowledges his role as the antagonist in the player's story, and leans fully into it. he's pretty clearly having a good time throughout the story and seems genuinely fond of the player, acknowledging their talent and explaining his plan to them when you meet him at chimney. he even has a speech in seafloor cavern about how it's silly but he wanted the player to be there to witness his moment of triumph--and it's worth noting that archie does NOT have an equivalent moment. oras maxie is much friendlier and more open than people give him credit for in my opinion.
so let's get into the stuff i extrapolated from all that.
in the fic, he works as an archivist in mauville, which is how he has access to information on how to wake up groudon without causing her to rampage. he's very intelligent--my friend, the mod of @official-team-magma, jokes that he's high intelligence, low wisdom. he's affable and energetic but kind of hotheaded and impulsive. i struggled with untreated adhd for most of my life, so he does too because i need the representation. he's friendly with may to the point of trying to recruit her to team magma and being open with the fact that he and his team aren't a danger to her (she's from johto and used to team rocket). he's not comfortable being perceived as threatening, especially not to a young and anxious immigrant woman who's just trying to do what she thinks is right. he's still friends with shelly and speaks highly of her despite them being on opposite sides of a conflict now. he's a safe driver.
i said once on main that if maxie asher had a d&d class, he'd be a paladin. part of the backstory for hoenn in this fic/blog is that it was almost colonized by kanto back in the early 1800s, like johto and sinnoh were. the kantans landed in the eastern islands, and when they started aggressively pushing west, the native hoennic people (including the draconids, who do exist in this continuity) pushed back. a war broke out, and only ended once someone gained groudon's favor and partnered with her.
in the present, there's no war going on, at least not in the traditional sense. but maxie's definitely trying to gain groudon's partnership to grant himself legitimacy for what he wants to accomplish--the idea being that if he has her on his side, people will listen to him.
as for what he's doing with that favor, i guess we'll see!

Hhhhh there are so many Leonard Cohen songs that would make really great dancestor animations
Of course, the most obvious one (to me): You Want It Darker is The Ψiioniic/The Helmsman feeling complicated feelings about The Signless'/The Sufferer's execution and his new position as a helmsman and just being absolutely fucked up about it.
Then, this might be a stretch, but Avalanche feels as though it could either be E%ecutioner Darkleer's identity crisis or The Disciple trying to cope with her grief and survivor's guilt. Or both. It can be both at the same time.
Alternatively, as a Disciple song, Dance Me to the End of Love. You understand.
Everybody Knows definitely feels like a Marquise Spinneret Mindfang to me, but maybe that's just all the Serket-y lines (everybody knows that the dice are loaded, everybody rolls with their fingers crossed) (everybody knows that the boat is leaking).
Now this one's an EXTREME stretch, but I am beginning to think about Suzanne as a song for The Summoner. You're gonna have to figure this one out on your own. I dunno.
