So it's a TikTok (from the official Moon Girl account, don't think she and the Moon Knights are actually affiliated, but I guess they team up sometimes?) of a Moon Knight saying a long paragraph that basically boils down to "don't be a jerk on the internet."

The reason Jewish Tumblr is flipping out about it is, this 1-minute video is packed with bits of Yiddish and Hebrew. Some highlights:

mishegas = insanity, craziness, wackiness

geneivat da'at = lying or misrepresenting something, literally "stealing knowledge"

kvetching = complaining

mitzvah = a commandment, specifically a good deed that Jewish people are commanded to do

schmuck = a dick, in both the literal and figurative senses

lashon hara = callout culture (no seriously, it's when you spread bad news about people that's factually accurate, but you're not doing it to help anyone or improve a situation, you're just reveling in the drama)

mishpocheh = family, including chosen family

And he uses them all right! And he's talking so fast, but the pronunciation is spot-on. There's no acCENT on the wrong sylLABle. Even if someone else wrote it for him, he wouldn't be that casually fluid if this wasn't a mode he was already used to talking in.

ORTHODOX MOON KNIGHT IS JEWISH, Y'ALL. And not a new convert (this is not a dig at converts, you are loved and valid!), but someone who grew up in a community that talked like this. My heart.

Well, I am here to tell you that Jewish people are found in all different regions and cultures! What you are hearing is a specific accent, not "pronouncing things wrong." Hope that helps!

so I just got this idea.

so we all know that the miraculous universe has a movie (multiple?) about Ladybug and Chat noir + teammates, but it's aimed for kids?

imagine a mature version of that. like a series gets released in the future after Cerise, what's her face is defeated? almost like "The Crown", but based on the French superheros.

like... "Jewels" or something. you know, like the miraculous jewelry, something like that.

because I feel like Ladybug and Chat Noir deserve an accurate representation of their stories as child soldiers, going into adulthood.

I think Marinette would enjoy that just a little, maybe not fully, but she'd appreciate the acknowledgment of her struggles.

There are a lot of Jedi terms and phrases with no established origin, so I came up with my own headcanon/fanon for some of them, plus some terms of my own. I really like the idea of a Jedi having two Padawans at the same time, and I think the “Jar’wan” dynamic could be really fun to play with.

I would love to learn more about other fanon lore people have come up with!

jar - 'twin,' 'sibling,' or 'paired'

ka / kai - 'sword' / 'swords'

la / lah - 'light,' in the sense of 'illumination' or 'brightness'

oss - 'essence,' often used to refer to the Force as the underlying structure of the universe

pad - 'beneath' or 'under'

rhen / ren - originally referred to interstellar space, but various groups have interpreted it as 'darkness,' 'chaos,' or 'the void,' among other things

var - 'guide'

wan - 'student' or 'learner'

Terms/Phrases

Jar'Kai - the use of two blades in combat, literally meaning 'paired swords.' The Atrisian city of Jar'Kai shares its name with the dueling style, and debates continue as to whether the city was named for the technique, or vice-versa.

Jar'wan / Jarawan - meaning 'paired student' or 'sibling student,' it comes from 'jar' and 'wan.' Dates back to when some Mentors (Ossovars) would take on multiple Padawans at once.

Ka var - ‘sword guide.’ This title would eventually be replaced by ‘Weapon Master.’

lah kai - an ancient Jedi tradition which involves intensely choreographed mock duels, in which no blades are permitted to touch until the climax of the performance. Literally 'flashing swords.'

Oss'var / Ossovar - literally 'guide in the Force,' in early Republic history, Jedi would be paired as Ossovar and Padawan, before the former was replaced by the Basic words 'Mentor' and 'Master.'

Ossus - An ancient Jedi planet. Named originally from two interpretations of 'oss.' An abbreviated way of saying 'the Force holds the universe together.'

Pad'wan / Padawan - from 'pad' and 'wan' translating literally to 'under-student.'

Rhen Var - the name of a planet in the Outer Rim. Its name is often translated to 'guide through the darkness.'

Taarath - An outdated term once used to refer to a Jedi Master. Origin unknown.

var'pad - not a common phrase, but would become 'Vaapad' eventually. Literally, it means 'guided submersion.'

The Leshawna haters are so real. I just read Heather’s tell-all book about Leshawna’s hairdo called “Weave Got Problems!” and through the baldie’s tearjerker memoir, I had NO idea that in Total Drama Action, Leshawna would force Heather to drink all of Leshawna’s clogged weave at the bottom of the shower drain in what she called a “hair-growth booster smoothie.”

Likewise, I can’t help but agree with the Leshawna defenders too. In Leshawna’s counter-memoir titled “Hair-dos and Hair-don’ts”, our sister with ‘tude explains a traumatic moment she had in the trailer during Action’s filming when she woke up in the middle of the night and caught Heather trying on Afro wigs in front of the mirror, rolling her neck, and wagging her finger saying “Oh, no you didn’t, girlfriend!”

Both sides have valid reasons to detest and support Leshawna, in my opinion!
