The mantle of Batman was officially handed over to cassandra, her expression serious and body still as her father put his hands around her shoulder and hugged her.
Cass isn't a stranger to pain and trauma, she knows what this will mean to her, this new future.
She is aware of the kinds of pain the mantles of Robin ans Batgirl bring as well, she wasn't a Robin like her brothers and sister, but she watched them all the same.
So she prepared.
Just like Bruce, like her family, she prepared for the inevitable.
Batman came back in the form of herself. Now, she only needs to wait for her Robin and Batgirl.

starting to realize that "psychosomatic" doesn't mean what i thought it meant. so it definitely doesn't mean "fake problem" that much i knew but. i think it's literally just the effocts of stress on the body. it's less "i didn't wanna go to school so i subconsciously made my tummy hurt so i wouldn't have to go" it's "going to school filled me with so much anxiety that the stress hormones had an immediate physical effect on my body, to the point of causing me physical pain". the first explanation is an invitation to gaslighting and "just push through it". the second one however is an invitation to take your bodies signals seriously and also acknowledge that you seem to be ignoring your emotions.. or maybe you aren't but you're unable to stay within your limits. limits btw aren't something to "push through", unless you want to self-destruct. limits are LIMITS.
this is coming from someone who went to school anyways, despite the anxiety-induced tummy-ache, and whose body started falling apart. it's still apart. it's probably not getting better. the more limits you ignore, the harder your body will set them. nowadays i can't work, i can't study, i can't even take walks anymore unless i wanna spend 3 weeks in bed. that's the very real effect that trauma has on your body. i know some people live in abusive households and can't obey their limits and some people live in usa but everyone who is pushing past their limits who CAN make changes in their life, take some time off from work, switch to part-time, change schools, have a sick semester, subsist on unemployment benefits for a while to take away the stress, do one less extracurricular activity.... please. do it. you only have the one body, and it is much weaker than you think. one day you won't bounce back.
