honestly miranda's a lot more insecure than she will ever let anyone else know about or even mentally recognize and realize in herself - its just also in such specific and bizarre ways that no one ever picks up on it
#all the care guide says is 'biomass'#its because of the merkingdom. just. theres no mystery this is absolutely why this is#and also the conflict between#merfolk cultural standards and their norms and what the lands cultural standards and norms are like#honestly merfolk dont lose a lot of their neural plasticity when it comes to social behavior even as they age#because being able to keep up with and maintain bonds and match even small changes in their social groups#were large evolutionary pressures that allowed them to function as they do#that its a little like miranda never fully left the part of childhood where youre just a social sponge#which. again. normal for merfolk. normal for even very old merfolk to be constantly learning new social tricks#its just a problem when she comes up to land and the only other merfolk around is bellanda#and theres a LOT of casual or indirect or even outright rejection of her needs as a merfolk#she has all sorts of new body image issues that she never had before#because she got slapped into a situation where people keep treating her badly because of them#this is also why bellanda and aaravi end up being so important as a part of a stable miivt'ia with her#because that plasticity prioritizes by relationship hierarchy#so if ravi and bells are fine with something and even outright indignant about it#then miri will default more to them being the ''norm'' than anyone else#i just like how much merfolk approach socialization and social behavior from the non-mammalian perspective#of effectively just retaining a social learning curve instead of the way mammals will settle into an ''adult'' socialization#and merfolk having the opposite of most mammals#where theyre far more independent as children and way more social as adults#where the lopsided attachment in parent-child relationships actually has the parent being more attached#hmmmm#which now makes me think high neural plasticity would help them with their long lifespans (already helped by being large and coldblooded)#and staving off the effects of aging by keeping their brains healthier for longer#things to thinks upon

Having one of those weeks of "is this the monthly Malaise or am I about to have a real mental health rut"
#I think I feel a bit bad for not having seen success for a bit on a large project or one for other people#my to-do list... Functional Indirect Osteopathy for Pets: Benefits and Overview
As pet owners, we constantly seek ways to ensure our beloved animals enjoy optimal health and well-being. One emerging field that offers promising benefits is functional indirect osteopathy for pets. This holistic approach to pet care focuses on gentle, non-invasive techniques to enhance mobility, alleviate pain, and improve overall health. In this blog, we’ll delve into what functional indirect osteopathy is and how it can help your pet, with insights from Cascade Summit Animal Hospital.
Tumblr media
Understanding Functional Indirect Osteopathy
Functional indirect osteopathy is a branch of osteopathic medicine that focuses on treating the body's musculoskeletal system using gentle, indirect techniques. Unlike direct methods that involve more forceful manipulation, indirect osteopathy employs subtle movements to guide the body into a state of balance and relaxation. This approach can be particularly beneficial for pets, who often respond better to less invasive treatments.
Principles of Functional Indirect Osteopathy
The core principles of functional indirect osteopathy include:
Body as a Unit: Viewing the body as an interconnected system where changes in one area can affect the entire organism.
Self-Healing: Believing in the body's innate ability to heal itself when given the right conditions.
Structure and Function: Recognizing the relationship between the body's structure and its function, and how imbalances can lead to health issues.
How Functional Indirect Osteopathy Helps Pets
1. Pain Relief and Improved Mobility
Functional indirect osteopathy can significantly reduce pain and improve mobility in pets, particularly those suffering from chronic conditions such as arthritis, hip dysplasia, or back pain. The gentle techniques used in this therapy help to release tension, improve joint function, and enhance overall flexibility. Pets often experience relief from pain and an increased range of motion after treatment.
2. Enhanced Circulation and Lymphatic Drainage
Improving circulation and lymphatic drainage is another key benefit of functional indirect osteopathy. By promoting better blood flow and reducing congestion in the lymphatic system, this therapy helps to remove toxins and support the body's natural healing processes. Enhanced circulation can also lead to improved energy levels and vitality in pets.
3. Stress Reduction and Improved Behavior
Stress and anxiety can have a significant impact on a pet's health and behavior. Functional indirect osteopathy's gentle, calming techniques help to reduce stress and promote relaxation. Pets undergoing this therapy often show improvements in behavior, becoming calmer and more relaxed.
4. Support for Post-Surgical Recovery
Post-surgical recovery can be a challenging time for pets. Functional indirect osteopathy can support the healing process by reducing pain, minimizing inflammation, and promoting tissue repair. This therapy can be an excellent complementary treatment to traditional veterinary care, helping pets recover more quickly and comfortably after surgery.
What to Expect During a Session
When you bring your pet to Cascade Summit Animal Hospital for functional indirect osteopathy, you can expect a thorough assessment followed by a tailored treatment plan. Here’s a brief overview of what typically happens during a session:
Initial Assessment
The osteopath will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your pet, including a review of their medical history, a physical examination, and an evaluation of their movement and posture. This helps to identify areas of tension, imbalance, and dysfunction.
Treatment Session
During the treatment session, the osteopath will use gentle, hands-on techniques to guide your pet's body into a state of balance and relaxation. These techniques may include light pressure, stretching, and subtle movements designed to release tension and improve function. The session is typically relaxing for pets, and many enjoy the gentle touch.
Follow-Up Care
After the session, the osteopath may provide recommendations for follow-up care, which could include additional treatments, exercises, or lifestyle changes to support your pet's ongoing health and well-being.
Conclusion
Functional indirect osteopathy offers a gentle, holistic approach to improving your pet's health and well-being. Whether your pet is dealing with chronic pain, recovering from surgery, or simply in need of some stress relief, this therapy can provide significant benefits. Nominal Clauses
(Forms and Functions of Subordinate Clauses)
Subordinate clauses can be classified into three main forms based on their functions within a sentence: nominal clauses, relative clauses, and adverbial clauses.    Nominal Clauses (Substantive Clauses): These clauses function as nouns within a sentence. They can serve as the subject, object, or complement of a sentence. Example: What he said surprised everyone. (Nominal clause as the subject)    Relative Clauses (Adjective Clauses): These clauses provide additional information about a noun in the main clause. They are introduced by relative pronouns (e.g., who, which, that). Example: The book that I borrowed from the library is fascinating. (Relative clause providing information about the book)   Adverbial Clauses: These clauses function as adverbs, modifying the main clause by providing information about time, place, manner, condition, etc. They are introduced by subordinating conjunctions (e.g., because, although, when, while).  Example: Although it was raining, they decided to go for a walk. (Adverbial clause indicating a contrasting condition.)
Nine Functions of Nominal Clauses with examples and grammatical explanations:
Nominal clauses perform nominal functions performed by noun phrases:   Subject: A nominal clause can function as the subject of a sentence. Example: What she said is important. (Nominal clause What she said serves as the subject of the sentence.)     Subject Complement: A nominal clause can act as a subject complement, providing additional information about the subject. Example: My goal is to succeed. (Nominal clause to succeed functions as a subject complement.)     Direct Object: A nominal clause can serve as the direct object of a verb. Example: I don't know what happened. (Nominal clause what happened functions as the direct object of the verb know.)     Object Complement: A nominal clause can act as an object complement, providing additional information about the direct object. Example: I found the decision difficult to accept. (Nominal clause difficult to accept functions as an object complement.)     Indirect Object: A nominal clause can function as an indirect object, receiving the action of the verb indirectly. Example: I gave whoever asked for it a chance. (Nominal clause whoever asked for it serves as an indirect object.)      Prepositional Complement: A nominal clause can act as the complement of a preposition, providing more information about the object of the preposition. Example: She is afraid of what might happen. (Nominal clause what might happen functions as a prepositional complement.)     Adjective Phrase Complement: A nominal clause can serve as a complement to an adjective, providing more information about the adjective. Example: I am happy that you are here. (Nominal clause that you are here functions as an adjective phrase complement.)     Noun Phrase Complement: A nominal clause can act as a complement to a noun, providing additional information about the noun. Example: I have a belief that honesty is important. (Nominal clause that honesty is important functions as a noun phrase complement.)     Appositive: A nominal clause can function as an appositive, providing further explanation or identification of a noun. Example: My friend, whoever needs help, can always rely on me. (Nominal clause whoever needs help functions as an appositive to my friend.)
Nominal Roles of Gerund Clauses:
Gerund clauses are clauses that use the gerund form of a verb (the -ing form) and function as nouns. The gerund clauses fill nominal roles, showing their versatility as subjects, direct objects, subject complements, objects of prepositions, indirect objects, and object complements within sentences. Gerund clauses are particularly useful when a continuous or ongoing action needs to be emphasized in a sentence.   Examples for gerund clauses serving different functions:   Subject: A gerund clause can function as the subject of a sentence. Running in the morning is refreshing. (Gerund clause Running in the morning serves as the subject of the sentence.)   Direct Object: A gerund clause can act as the direct object of a verb. She enjoys reading novels. (Gerund clause reading novels functions as the direct object of the verb enjoys.)    Subject Complement: A gerund clause can serve as a subject complement, providing additional information about the subject. His favorite activity is swimming. (Gerund clause swimming functions as a subject complement.)   Object of Preposition: A gerund clause can function as the object of a preposition.  He succeeded by working hard. (Gerund clause working hard acts as the object of the preposition by.)   Indirect Object:  Sarah paid little attention to her colleague's presenting at the conference. (The gerund clause her colleague's presenting at the conference serves as the indirect object of the verb paid, while little attention is the direct object.)   Object Complement: A gerund clause can act as an object complement, providing additional information about the direct object. They considered his singing a beautiful song. (Gerund clause his singing functions as an object complement.)
That&Infinitive Clauses as Nominal Clauses:
Both That Clauses and Infinitive Clauses are types of nominal clauses. Nominal clauses are clauses that function as nouns within a sentence, and they can serve various roles, such as subjects, objects, or complements.   In the case of That Clauses, the clause introduced by that functions as a single unit, often acting as a noun in the sentence, taking on roles like subject, direct object, or subject complement.   In the case of Infinitive Clauses, the infinitive phrase (to + base form of the verb) functions as a nominal unit, often acting as a noun in the sentence. It can take on roles such as subject, direct object, or subject complement.       That&Infinitive Clauses in the context of filling the functions of subjects, direct objects, and subject complements.   That Clauses: Subject: That he arrived early surprised everyone.   Direct Object: I believe that honesty is the best policy.   Subject Complement: The challenge is that it requires a lot of effort."       Infinitive Clauses: Subject: To solve complex problems requires creativity.   Direct Object: She wants to learn a new language   Subject Complement: His dream is to become a successful entrepreneur.
Bare Infinitive as a Nominal Clause:
The bare infinitive, also known as the base form of the verb without the to particle, can indeed function as a nominal clause, particularly filling the role of a direct object. Direct Object: She made him eat vegetables. (Bare infinitive eat functions as the direct object of the verb made.)
Nominal Roles of Indirect/Embedded Questions:
Indirect questions, also known as embedded questions, are questions that are incorporated into a larger sentence as part of a statement or another question. Indirect questions can fulfill various nominal roles within a sentence, including subjects, direct objects, and subject complements.   Indirect Question as a Subject: Whether we should proceed is unclear.   Indirect Question as a Direct Object: I don't know what the answer is.   Indirect Question as a Subject Complement: The mystery is whether they will attend.
Nominal Relative Clauses (Headless Clauses):
Nominal relative clauses, also known as headless clauses, function as complete noun phrases within a sentence. They can serve various roles, including subjects, direct objects, indirect objects, objects of prepositions, and object complements in the main clause.    Subject of the Main Clause: Whoever arrives early will get the best seats. (Nominal relative clause Whoever arrives early serves as the subject of the main clause.)   Direct Object of the Main Clause: I will support whatever decision you make. (Nominal relative clause whatever decision you make functions as the direct object of the main clause.)   Indirect Object in the Main Clause: She gave whichever book you prefer to her friend. (Nominal relative clause whichever book you prefer serves as the indirect object in the main clause.)    Object of a Preposition in the Main Clause: We had a discussion about what was said in the meeting. (Nominal relative clause what was said in the meeting serves as the object of the preposition about.)   Object Complement in the Main Clause: I found the answer to be whatever suited the situation. (Nominal relative clause whatever suited the situation functions as the object complement in the main clause.)                 Nominal (Noun) Clauses Subordinate Clauses Complex Sentences Types of Interrogative Sentences What is a predicate? ok... I got that ask in my EMAIL. But not my actual askbox??
like it is SIMPLY not there.
Proof! inasmuch as an image can be proof of anything:
Tumblr media
there's the email with the ask! But earlier when I got that lil 1 next to my inbox I clicked and this was Not There and it still isn't!
Has anyone else run into this recently?? The tumblr ask-eater is apparently stronger than ever these days.

Obey me brothers with short!MC, they wanna kiss his cheek but can’t reach, so they kiss their own fingertips and touch his cheek <3
Thank you :)
hello! this is such a cute idea!
enjoy <3
Short Mc who gives indirect finger kisses
Lucifer
you caught him of guard for sure
he has to stop and process what you just did since he was in the middle of some other task
he might look vaguly lost in thought for the rest of the day haha
he won't stop you though, he welcomes it actually
Mammon
the first time you do it, you leave him absolutely reeling
he'll be thinking about that for a while
after that, he'll try to create situations in which you have to do that again
who knew humans could be so thoughtful?
Levi
you've single handily caused him to shut down
don't expect him to function for the rest of the day, or maybe the next couple days
you'll have to reassure him it wasn't for a prank or anything
if you hadn't already, you'd just stolen his heart <3
Satan
it's something right out of one of the many romances novels he's read
but he won't admit that he's read any of those or that he really really liked that
he might recommend the book he read that in to you in hopes you might like it
and maybe recreate some of the scenes in it?
Asmo
that was the most adorable thing he's ever seen you do
do it again!
he was enchanted before, but now he doesn't think he can ever let you go now
even though he's taller than you, you might find him trying to do the same thing back to you haha
Beel
like lucifer, he's a little caught off guard
he will admit, he did really enjoy it
but next time, you could just ask him to lean down
he gladly would, but he will take whatever you want to give him <3
Belphie
he was half asleep when you did it to him
it was one of the rare moments where he was standing up straight
he will outright tell you he liked it though
almost everyday after that, he whines and asks where his kiss is haha

Anomalous Item #4742: A set of 173 VHS tapes with blank labels.
When a tape label is filled out (there are provided fields for title, director, and year) and then placed into any functioning VCR, the film listed will play, regardless of if it existed before the tape was played.
This was first believed to be an effect limited to the tapes, ie, the tapes were somehow generating the movie themselves through some method similar to AI art generation, but after initial tests were performed the paratime division discovered the effect is actually antichronological: when played, the tapes don't simply create the movie named, they alter the past so that the movie mentioned was created.
Thus, after a tape is labeled and played, it can be found on streaming services and in DVD rental stores. The directors, if still alive, will recall making the film, and actors who were active at the time the film was "made" will have anecdotes about events that happened in the film.
This can have ripple effects as well; during the 9th test, the film Big Trouble in Little China, 1986, directed by John Carpenter, was created. Besides the immediate effects of creating a new film that hadn't existed, an indirect effect was that the film Alien 2, 1985, John Carpenter, ceased to exist. Instead, the sequel to the 1979 film Alien (directed by Ridley Scott) was titled Aliens and directed by James Cameron. It's believed that by adding a new movie to the timeline of John Carpenter's direction, he no longer had time to direct one of the works he had directed in the original timeline, as he would have been busy directing the newly-added film, and directing roles therefore passed to another director.
Use of the tapes can also implicitly affect the lifespan of directors. In test #17, Researcher J. Calhoun attempted to generate a film that couldn't possibly exist: a prequel to a film made by a director who had died decades beforehand.
According to paratime research, the writing of "Star Wars: Episode 1, 1999, George Lucas" on the tape and the subsequent viewing undid the 1981 death of Mr. Lucas, causing Star Wars: Episode 6: Revenge of the Jedi to come out in 1983 instead of 1985, be titled "Return of the Jedi" instead, and it would be directed by George Lucas instead of Steven Spielberg.
This obviously had additional effects as it didn't merely extend the lifespan of George Lucas by an additional 18 years: at time of writing in 2022, he is still alive at the age of 78. It's therefore believed that the object doesn't unnaturally extend the lifespan of the director, it instead reshapes the flow of time so that any events that would stop them from filming the listed movie do not happen.
After discovery of their history altering nature, the remaining anomalous objects have been locked in secure storage at site #22. No further testing is authorized, and emergency use requires level #6 authorization, which will only be granted in the face of imminent disaster requiring paratime remedies.
Article update[2022-11-20]: an incident occurred where it was discovered that former researcher K. Synnol had acquired one of the tapes (see investigation document 2483 for details) and was attempting to use it for history modification, without approval. The paratime division detected the impending history alteration and an assault team was dispatched. Synnol was apprehended before they could complete the use of the tape, however the label WAS filled out but the tape remained unwatched. What effects, if any, the partial use of the anomalous artifact would have on the timeline is unknown, but in previous testing the film only came into being when the labeled tape was placed into a VCR and watched.
See photo attachment #2, below, for artifact 1B, recovered after the Synnol event.

Hi! I have a question about snow leopard coloration. I've noticed that some individuals are quite a bit more cream in color, like so:
Tumblr media
Some (esp cubs) are the classic grey we associate with them:
Tumblr media
(Never quite as grey as people draw them, but nevertheless!)
So I was just wondering -- what causes this? Is it genetics? Climate? Dust? (I was watching trail camera footage and saw one on a sheer cliff shaking off a BUNCH of dust, and went Oh... That could be it...)
I think it's a combination of a lot of things, probably.
We've definitely just oversimplified their representation in media to "white and grey." People hear 'snow'leopard and want to make them really clearly light color.
Snow leopards also have a lot of color variations in their fur, as you can see in the photos you provided. That makes them much more effective at blending to rocky or patchy snow backgrounds. Take a look at this photo of Marai - she's got a bunch of different greys and browns, in contrast to her white belly fur.
Tumblr media
Light conditions and environmental color also influence how their coats look. In cool-toned indirect light, they look more grey to me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you're shooting through glass or acrylic (like at a zoo), all your photos will have a blueish tinge. If you're using automated functions in an editing program, those will also tend to make snow leopards look a little more grayscale. Lots of trees or pine needles will reflect color light onto their fur, too, and change how they look.
I think a lot of the rest is just genetic variation. A range of coloration and patterning would be adaptive in the wild, as differently camouflaged cats would find success hunting in different terrains.

☆☆☆ # genya shinazugawa !
genya regularly receives check-ups at the Butterfly Mansion, thus you tend to bump into him a ton!
this is where things start to take a turn. . . he stops getting so angry and quick to shut you down. . . and instead, he starts watching you train a little more, keeping idle tabs on your schedule, daydreaming of you when he should be focusing on training. . .
then it hits him:
he's got a crush ?!
to this boy love literally feels lethal.
he can't function. at all. he's unable to stand or talk to you for more than a few seconds without becoming flustered and wracked with nerves.
so loving you from afar is the simplest-easiest option.
he stares a ton, and tries hard not to get caught.
daydreams when he shouldn't- and at the worst times- you can only get punched in the face while training so many times before you start to wonder if having a crush is really worth it.
i'm pretty sure anyone could see the reason this quick-tempered boy suddenly turns shy when he's around you.
and he hates admitting it. (what is he supposed to do? he's never been in love before?)
there are times when he's 100% undoubtably sure that you're busy- or far, far away from the scene of the crime. . . he'll sneak into your room (after double checking that the coast is clear, again) he'll leave a few wildflowers next to your nightstand.
just the thought that he's showing romantic affection towards you has his heart palpitating. . . even if it is, technically indirect.
has him paranoid as hell, like somehow even after all his precautions, you'll just know it was him. if you suspect him, or bring it up, he'll vehemently deny everything.
(whenever he leaves flower btw, it'll be up to a week before he works up the courage to bring another bunch, and in between he tries to garner the courage to talk to you. . . without success)
he'd actually get pretty comfortable with this scenario, and eventually saves up enough to produce a small vase to hold all the flowers.
and it feels like the biggest step yet!
its a painfully simple pot, and he feels he could do better, but he's tied a woven red string around the neck to help. . . at least a little.
you know. . . in the future he could tie notes to it. the thought has his ears burning red hot, and he flees the scene just as quickly.
☆☆☆ # muichiro tokito !
honestly, it doesn't fully occur to him that he is a secret admirer at first.
he just one day happens to notice you because you caught his eye. nothing in particular, there was just something. . . bright about your presence.
your eyes? your smile? who could really say. all he knows is that your very interesting to look at when you're around.
even your voice catches his attention, like the sound of bells to his ears. its calming and also so alluring? how are you able to charm him like this?
the couple times you caught him staring he looked away quickly, then he starts wondering why he's afraid of being caught?
that's when the idea of an idea starts to form in his head.
a crush!
honestly, i think he'd smile to himself at the thought. its all very confusing and all very new and exciting!
he'd stare a ton and try to be subtle. . . but then fail at that too. (at this point he's just standing beside a tree rather than behind it?)
muichiro gifts you things that remind him of you: things that are eye-catching and interesting to him.
. . . something that holds his attention as much as you do. . .
mostly things he's found, like the shiniest shells or rocks, broken ornaments or porcelain he's found. the best would probably be a tiny pearl he. . . acquired.
instructs his crow to deliver them to you, which in turn means you get hit in the head with said object- you don't need a more obvious clue to know that his crow hates. your. guts. (don't worry she's just a little jealous)
at first, he completely forgets that he's sent anything to you at all.
until he see's you holding them and it all connects.
silently hopes you to make the connection too. and i don't think he'd mind being caught at all. (its kind of like a fun game he's playing, that subsequently causes the faintest blush to appear across the bridge of his nose)
thinks about you maybe a bit too much, and starts to get excited at the prospect of being in love or a relationship! what would it be like to hold your hand, or even have all of your attention for once? (now he's just smiling up at the clouds like an adorable idiot)
if he writes anything (a note?) its just doodles and drawings he's done that he then hands over to his crow to deliver.
actually very fond of leaving you snacks too. . . or straight up offering to share while (innocently) asking you what ❛all those things in your hands❜ are.

Do you have any tips on how to write a character who’s being manipulated?
Your blog has been very helpful to me! :) thanks a lot
Quick Tips for Writing Manipulative Characters
To convincingly write a character who is being manipulated, you must first understand how to write a believable manipulator. Often hidden in plain sight, manipulators pull the strings, guiding the actions of those who are often unaware that they're dancing to someone else's tune.
Let’s look at manipulators as puppet masters, exploring how they function and how their actions echo throughout your story. By understanding the manipulator, you'll better equip yourself to create realistic characters who are unwittingly under their sway.
How do they behave?
Play the victim to garner sympathy
Charming and persuasive
Twist and distort the truth to suit their agenda
Play mind games
Are silver-tongued
Passive-aggressive when confronted
Use guilt to control others
Don’t hesitate to lie or deceive
Demonstrate a sense of entitlement.
Project their feelings onto others
How do they interact?
Play different roles with different people
Prefer indirect communication to direct confrontation
Gaslight others, making them doubt their own perceptions
Shift the blame onto others
Exploit others' vulnerabilities
Use people’s secrets against them
Make others feel obligated or in debt to them
Use flattery to get their way
Create conflict between other characters
Deliberately create confusion and chaos
Describe their body language
Maintain intense eye contact
Use touch to seem friendly and intimate
Facial expressions often don't match their words
Use large, expressive gestures to dramatise
Have a confident and exaggerated posture
Soften expression to look more trustworthy
Smile artificially or excessively
Lean in close, invading personal space
Mirror others’ behaviours to seem more likeable
Mimic emotions they may not feel
Describe their attitudes
Believe they are always right
Feel entitled and superior
Lack empathy
Highly competitive
Often impatient and intolerant
Controlling and like to be in charge
Rarely apologize sincerely
Often play the martyr, acting self-sacrificing
Can be sceptical of others’ intentions
Kindness is often an act
Positive narrative effects
Paradoxically, manipulative characters can have a positive narrative effect on those they manipulate. These characters can act as a catalyst for change, pushing others to unlock hidden potential and indirectly teaching them to be more cautious. In the face of manipulation, characters can mature and grow resilience.
Manipulative characters can also reveal people’s true natures by tricking them into revelations or by fostering unity as others band together against them. Furthermore, their actions can create dramatic plot twists, make people question their own perceptions and realities, and add intrigue.
Negative narrative effects
Manipulators can cause emotional and psychological distress, breed distrust and insecurity, and disrupt relationships and friendships. These characters often lead others to make damaging decisions, creating a toxic environment.
By exploiting and exposing others' vulnerabilities, manipulators make individuals question their self-worth. The extent of their manipulation can even cause physical harm and lead to the downfall of other characters. Their lasting legacy? Emotional scars that define their victims long after the manipulator has exited the narrative.

The fun thing about Yukari is that once you've identified all of the layers of indirection and pieced together all of the obscure references and sorted out all of the time travel bullshit, she literally just has the same character arc as every X-Men villain of the week:
Correctly identify a problem with society
Hold all humans equally responsible for this problem because class analysis is hard, okay
Absolve myself of any culpability for the problem I just blamed on all humans by rejecting my humanity
Launch a needlessly complicated scheme which, if successful, will culminate with instituting a new, functionally hereditary ruling class with myself at the head of it, because as everyone knows the antidote to late-stage capitalism is neo-feudalism
Somehow this involves blowing up the moon?

A Writing Refresher: Basic Grammatical Terms
Adjective: A word which qualifies or modifies the meaning of a noun; as in a 'red hat' or a 'quick fox'. They can be used to complement the verbs 'to be' or 'to seem' ('Sue seems happy today'). Adjectives are sometimes formed from nouns or verbs by the addition of a suffix such as '-able' (lovable), '-ful' (heedful), '-ic' (heroic), '-ish' (foolish), '-ive' (combative), '-ous' (famous), or '-y' (needy).
Adverb: A word which qualifies or adds to the action of a verb: as in 'he ran quickly', or 'he ran fast'. Adverbs can also qualify adjectives, as in 'the grass is intensely green'. They are usually formed by adding '-ly' to an adjective: 'playfully', 'combatively', 'foolishly'. They can also sometimes be formed by the addition of '-wise' to a noun ('the hands went round clockwise).
Clause: The word is often used but very hard to define. It is a sentence or sentence-like construction included within another sentence. A main clause might be a simple noun plus verb ('I did it'). A co-ordinate clause is of equal status with the main clause: 'I did it and she did it at the same time.' A subordinate clause might be nested within a sentence using the conjunction 'that': 'he said that the world was flat.' Here 'he said' is the main clause and the subordinate clause is 'the world was flat'. Relative clauses are usually introduced by a relative pronoun: 'I read the book which was falling to pieces'; 'She spoke to the man who was standing at the bar.'
Conjunction: A word used to connect words or constructions. Co-ordinating conjunctions such as 'and', and 'but' link together elements of equal importance in a sentence ('Fish and chips' are of equal importance). Subordinating conjunctions such as 'because', 'if', 'although', connect a subordinate clause to its superordinate clause ('We will do it if you insist'; 'We did it because he insisted).
Noun: A word used as the name or designation of a person or thing, such as 'duck' or 'river'. Abstract nouns denote abstract properties, such as 'invisibility', 'gentleness'. Proper nouns are nouns that designate one thing, as, for example, personal names.
Object: Usually the thing to which the action of a verb is done. More technically a substantive word, phrase, or clause, immediately dependent on, or ‘governed by’, a verb, as expressing, in the case of a verb of action, the person or thing to which the action is directed, or on which it is exerted; that which receives the action of the verb. So 'the man patted the dog', 'the woman was reading the book'. An indirect object of a verb denotes that which is indirectly affected by an action, but wihch is not the immediate product of it, as ‘Give him the book’, ‘Make me a coat’.
Participle: a word derived from a verb which functions like an adjective, as in 'let sleeping dogs lie'. More technically 'A word that partakes of the nature of a verb and an adjective; a derivative of a verb which has the function and construction of an adjective (qualifying a noun), while retaining some of those of the verb'. Present participles usually end in '-ing' and usually describe an action which is going on at the same time as the verb: so in the sentence '"Go and play on your own street," she said, kicking the ball', the saying and the kicking are simultaneous. Past participles usually end in '-ed' or '-en' ('the door was kicked in'; 'the door was broken'). They are used in two main ways: combined with the verb 'have' they form a past or 'perfect' tense (so called because it describes an action which has been completed or 'perfected'), as in 'I have smashed the plate'. Past participles can also be used in passive constructions (which describe what was done to something rather than what something did), as in 'the plate was smashed'.
Preposition: A part of speech which indicates a connection, between two other parts of speech, such as 'to', 'with', 'by' or 'from'. 'She came from China', 'He gave the chocolates to me'.
Pronoun: A part of speech which stands for a noun: 'he', 'she', 'him', 'her', 'them'. Possessive pronouns express ownership ('his', 'hers'). Reflexive pronouns are 'herself', 'himself', 'myself' and are used either for emphasis (he did it all himself'), or when an action reflects back on the agent who performs it ('he shot himself in the foot'). Relative pronouns include 'who', 'which', 'that' and are usually used in the form 'he rebuked the reader who had sung in the library'. Interrogative pronouns ask questions ('Who stole the pie?'; 'Which pie?'). Indefinite pronouns do not specify a particular person or thing: 'Anyone who studies grammar must be mad.' 'Somebody has to know about this stuff.'
Sentence: This is a term which professional linguists still find impossible to define adequately. It is usually supposed to be 'A sequence of words which makes complete sense, containing subject, object and main verb, and concluded by a full-stop'.
Subject: Usually the person or thing who is performing the action of a verb. More technically the grammatical subject is the part of a sentence of which an action is predicated: 'the man patted the dog'. It can be a single noun, or it can been a complex clause: 'the bald man who had just picked up the ball gave it to the dog.'
Syntax (Greek 'together arrangement'): a term designating the way in which words can be arranged and modified to construct sentences. Writers characteristically use syntactic sub-ordination when they aim for a highly formal effect, and syntactic co-ordination when they aim for a simpler, more straight-forward effect.
Verb: Usually a word which describes an action (such as 'he reads poems', 'she excels at cricket'). More technically 'That part of speech by which an assertion is made, or which serves to connect a subject with a predicate.' This technical definition includes the most frequent verb in the language: the verb 'to be' which can be used to connect a 'subject', such as 'he', with a 'predicate', such as 'good at hockey'. There are verbs which take an object ('he raps the desk'), which are called transitive verbs. Other verbs do not, and are termed intransitive verbs ('I sit, he lives'). Some verbs can be used either transitively or intransitively: 'I sing' is an intransitive usage; 'Paul McCartney sings "God save the Queen"' is a transitive usage. The main verb is the verb on which the structure of the sentence depends, and without which the sentence would not make any sense. In the following sentence the verb 'fell' is the main verb: 'The boy, who had run too quickly, fell'.

A clear indication of this impasse is the widely noted hesitation of major universities—usually so eager to issue solemn statements on the latest tragedy in the news—to comment publicly on the events of the past week. One example: New York University (my former employer) has thus far not issued a statement on its public social-media feeds on the events in Israel, even as it has made multiple posts in the same timespan commemorating Indigenous People’s Day. In the one email on the subject sent to the university community, newly inaugurated NYU President Linda Mills offered the following stilted reflection: “The violence that is raging now will likely intensify the feelings of those on our campus who hold strong views on the conflict.” NYU’s email also included—as such messages do—the number for the campus mental-health hotline.
Here we find an indirect clue as to the true nature of the “decolonization” project that has become a prominent part of higher education: Like much of what now takes place in elite institutions, it is ultimately a therapeutic enterprise. Battles over land and sovereignty are displaced onto the psyche; the demand for territorial restoration has become a metaphor for internal struggles over identity and belonging for which universities serve as a staging ground. But intellectual history suggests this therapeutic function isn’t as easily detached from the concept’s violent implications as university administrators might like.

I've cropped and screenshotted because the person in question didn't explicitly tag, but Tumblr did the thing where because the word "transandrophobia" was mentioned in the tag it showed up anyway. Do not seek this person out. Do not engage with this person. Leave them alone. I've intentionally not directly engaged and have intentionally anonymized them because who they are is not important to the feelings I am expressing.
But this back to back just makes me sad and I want to express that.
Tumblr media
It makes me sad that these posts are categorized next to each other by Tumblr's broken search function. A post about theory born out of direct experiences with oppression and needing to flee my home because I cannot exist there safely, met with "kill yourself" as an indirect response.
As such, it only makes me even more sad about the things I was expressing in my own post. It makes me sad as someone who has both struggled with ideation and has been directly impacted by suicide.
It makes me sad and angry that people fall for bait so easily. That something so blatantly meant to create division is being taken at face value like this. That people would rather believe that faceless, anonymous messages are being sent legitimately rather than spend an ounce of thought about what the motivations for a mass harassment campaign like that might actually be.
It makes me sad as a theorist, an advocate, and an activist. As a person. It just sucks. It hurts. And I hope we're all able to do better by each other some day.

I AM SPINNING I AM PACING I AM FULL ON FROLICKING IM SO EXCITED
@d1sc0rd1a THANK U FOR THESE TAGS
Tumblr media
okayokayokayokay so pretty much all of these questions will be Officially Answered properly in the character design/intro pages im working on but also i am physically vibrating with excitement about the fact that you noticed all these details and i have very little self control so! lore dump time!!!
(minor tw for mentions of leos self-harm/self-destructive anxious behaviors and unhealthy coping skills)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
- mikey does indeed have curly fur! i believe he would be considered a 'rex' rat (pictured on the left) for this trait? though the curls can be more easily seen on mice (pictured on the right). or, at least it seems that way. have not delved too deeply into the details of rodent genes and husbandry, but id assume its the same sort of mutation considering curly haired mice are also referred to as rex sometimes? either way hes a extra floofy bby 🧡
Tumblr media
-as for raphie, unfortunately being more fluff and less shell than the average rapheal comes with its downsides. especially if you and your brothers occasionally encounter things like territorial dogs, hungry cats, or sewer crocodiles while exploring places ur dad said not supposed to go. (most of his scars will have more ninja related stories, but his ear i think got messed up from something very animal. probably around age 11 ish? old enough to sneak out from dads protection but young enough to not fully know how to handle himself alone against real danger. thankfully his ear injury looks worse than it actually is for the most part, as the damage was largely to the outer ear. his hearing wasnt super affected, except that he now has a bit of a harder time being able to track/pinpoint noises origins if its on his right side.)
Tumblr media
-also yep! dons got some glasses that just clip/rest on the bridge of his nose! theyre mostly just for home use, as they do fall off if hes knocked around. in the field he has some goggles he tends to use (theyre helpful as they have multiple additional functions like heat-imaging, extra zoom/telescoping, and recording capabilities. but also theyll give him headaches if he wears them for too long without breaks). contacts are theoretically also an option but he absolutely hates the sensation of putting them in. so sometimes when hes tired he'll just not bother with either clips or goggles and just squint and struggle. leo hates when he does that lol.
Tumblr media
-speaking of leo, he is def an anxious baby :) he has a few patches of fur missing on his hand cos he has the tendency to tug on it while hes thinking. he yanked and chewed on his own tail a lot when he was younger too, which is why when hes older he usually wears some wraps to cover the scars left from that behavior. he finds those scars specifically to be kinda embarrassing and shameful because they werent from any battle or life-lesson, just his own 'inability to control himself'. all of his brothers have repeatedly called him out on the fact that that is not a healthy way to think about his anxiety or mental health, but leo insists hes fine. hes kinda convinced himself that a proper warrior always has control over his own body* and his own thoughts, thus he should be able to just like willpower-brute-force his way into 'being better'. (this line of thinking pisses raph off so much he has to leave and go hit something)
Splinter also tries to talk him through some of that internalized guilt/shame/everything, but splinters very metaphorical, poetic, and indirect when it comes to talking about Big Things, which combined with how much leo gets caught in his own head, makes it kinda hard to gauge how much these talks actually help
*this is made extra fun considering leos also ftm trans, so he is faced with a body that fundamentally disobeys him perhaps more than the average rat-man.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
-and im still going back and forth between a few species for splinter, but im leaning mostly towards an African Spurred Tortoise! they have these beautiful if kinda subtle geometric shell patterns and are the third largest species of tortoise in the world. the only thing that doesnt fit perfectly with Splints is that (allegedly) their lifespan in captivity is around 50ish years, whereas im p sure Tortoise Splinter is well over 75, probably closer to 90 when the boys are born and hes mutated into Old Man Papa.
but maybe hes just a particularly long lasting African Spurred Tortoise.
the Hamato family has taken very good care of him for many decades after all. :)
(well. until everything all fell apart, that is.....)

Dump truck.
‘Size’ is the single most important aspect in my pursuit of hyper-masculinity. Every part of my body needs to be significantly bigger than it is right now.
But the sexualisation of a physique is not the same as the masculinisation of a physique. To sexualise, I deliberately need to over-develop two key muscle groups: my pecs and my glutes.
That’s why I’ve added a dedicated ‘glute day’ into my workout routine. This doesn’t replace any of the indirect stimulation my glutes receive during normal quad/ham training. Rather, it bolsters this training to ensure my glutes develop at an accelerated rate.
The ultimate goal is to make sure no man is ever in any doubt as to my body’s primary function: as a sex object.
