Melanie says: 1. Don't be afraid to fail. You might surprise yourself and end up in a better place.   2. Accomplishing large life goals can be daunting. Wake up and focus on achieving a couple steps a day. Soon you will be running. 3. If something in your life is not working, give yourself permission to change it. Change can be exciting and invigorating. 4. Find a career that you are passionate about, you won’t feel like you’re working. 5. Take time for yourself to do the things that you enjoy and be grateful for the little things. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Melanie’s first wisdom came to her at a young age. When she was 17 and didn’t make the university dance team, she was devastated. But soon after, a dance teacher told her about an opportunity to try out to sing, dance and act in a theater show that would be running all summer. She was afraid to fail again. But she tried out, got the part and had an amazing summer performing. In the fall she went to college in the best shape of her life, and when a spot on the dance team opened up, she got it. That experience was a big life lesson that she has applied over the years - if things don’t happen the way you want them to, something better might be waiting around the corner. Today, Melanie is a wife, a mother of three-year old twins and an entrepreneur in the process of launching a couple businesses. She experienced an obstacle recently in her business, so she decided to take a month to really consider what would be best for her brand and how to move forward. Melanie says that when we want something too badly, it's easy to dig in our heels and not be willing to make a change. So she gave herself permission to change direction and soon new ideas and ways around her challenge appeared. Melanie is the founder of "She Built It" - an organization of women coming together to support each other to take entrepreneurial and career leaps in their lives. Melanie’s own mentor sparked something inside of her and said- 'You know what to do Melanie - just go do it'. And she is. @shebuiltit
