Does a USB drive get heavier as you store more files on it?

Nope. Paradoxically (and theoretically), the more you save on a flash drive, the lighter it gets.

USB drives use Flash memory, which means the the ones and zeros of the data are stored on transistors.

When you save data, a binary zero is set by charging the float gate of the transistor, and a binary one is set by removing the charge.

To charge it, we add electrons, and the mass of each electron is 0.00000000000000000000000000091 grams.

This means that an empty USB drive (which mostly holds zeros) weighs more than a full USB drive (which has ones and zeros). Add data, reduce the weight.

I'm Lauu and im the organiser of an ongoing tged zine, we're halfway through production however we've run into a small problem as we're missing some artworks and need some spot artists to help, if anyone here would be interested in participating here is a link to a forms. in  every  iteration  of  eliza’s  story,  there  comes  a  time  where  she  makes  it  big  -  simultaneously,  she  hits  rock  bottom.  public  exploitation,  loss  of  all  autonomy,  loss  of  her  own  internal  connections  and  external  relationships  -  addiction  and  overdose.  after  hitting  rock  bottom,  she  is  usually  afforded  the  rarely-gifted  opportunity  of  choice.  the  choice  to  grow  or  stay  stagnant. the  ‘stripped  bare’  performances  are  a  turning  point  for  eliza.  whether  it’s  the  independence  found  from  leaving  abusive  labels  +  relationships,  getting  sober,  reaffirmation  in  her  own  autonomy  and  her  self-worth,  suffering  major  personal  loss  or  all  of  the  above  combined,  she  reclaims  her  public  image  by  laying  it  all  out,  stripped  bare. with  no  accompaniments  (save  for  her  singular  acoustic  guitar,  standing  mic  and  amps  loud  enough  for  all  to  hear),  she  sits  naked  on  a  stool  and  plays  her  music  the  way  it  was  intended  to  exist.  by  her  own  rules,  stripped  of  all  conditions  and  terms  -  concurrently  by  her  own  accord,  and  by  the  forced  hand  of  those  who  gave  her  no  other  choice  but  to  start  over.

Spent several hours today arguing with the other devs about how to rewrite our enterprise app launcher/updater because right now its pretty much a trojan.

in a nutshell: It currently downloads the individual JARs from our WildFly server, adds them to its classpath via the system classloader, then launches a target main method through reflection, effectively becoming that running process.

Someone from OPS found the list of security exceptions they needed to add to make it work (spoiler its a lot)

I hope the security team is preparing to have a heart attack when we have our meeting Wednesday

4. Did Rook enjoy their upbringing? Did they stay with whoever was raising them, or did they run away? Why?

Sabi didn't question her upbringing for the most part. She spent a lot of time around adults until she got into school (when her magic manifested, around age 10). Because of this, she never really considered that her "family life" was incredibly odd. She got to run around the Necropolis, play games with the wisps, read however much she wanted, and there were adults around to indulge her every question. What did she have to complain about? Once she got into school she began to gain perspective on how her experience was so very different- and that's the point she believes the loneliness began.

10. Does Rook have any special abilities related to the Necropolis or its spirits/undead? If so, did they always have it, or do they train to gain it? How do they feel about their abilities? Do others treat them differently because of them?

Since she has spent most of her life in the Necropolis, Sabi has a sort of…intrinsic attunement to spirits. She finds herself able to reach across the Veil more easily, and spirits are more likely to answer her calls. It's in part because she's spent so much time in places where the Veil is thin and spirits gather, but it's also a skill she built up over time. Her childhood involved a lot of interactions with spirits, so she understands the way they think and interact better than your average mage. This has been a boon to her magic, especially in the ways of spirit healing, as she is particularly attuned to spirits of hope and compassion. She's very proud of that skill and is rather prone to overusing it if it means she can help people. It's not incredibly unusual in the Mourn Watch so for most of her life it was treated as a matter of course- she was gifted and known throughout the Necropolis for it, but not in a way that was considered beyond imagining. For anyone outside of Nevarra, it's probably a little more…exotic and concerning.

This extends to her ability to hear Spite- faintly at first, and then clearly after Inner Demons is completed. She's always able to pick him out in a room, though only as a faint purple haze. His shape becomes clearer after Inner Demons as well.
