Today I was thinking about Spider getting taken in by the Sully's, getting adopted, feeling like he got everything he ever wanted and was as happy as he could be but still feeling like. It's not enough. Like he was missing time, like he's always making up for missed time with them. He can't ever have those years without them back, and no amount of time forward will make up for the past. No one else gets it, why sometimes he'd just rather stay home and weave baskets with Neytiri and Tuk, or just follow Jake around when he goes to boring meetings, instead or going out and having fun with his friends. Emotionally he's years behind.
The person who is the closest to getting it is Tuk. Sometimes Tuk just wants to sit in someone's lap while she plays, because she's little and sometimes she needs to be cuddled by her mom. Some days Spider literally can't let one of them out of his sight or something catastrophic will happen. Emotionally he needs a cuddle.

I DO NOT KNOW if anyone has already redrawn this meme, but we all have to admit that this is something that should exist in the Nanbaka fandom
I love Musashi, but it's stronger than me
Jojo memes are eternal

Truly how did the bats go to school, and be superheroes. I’m struggling to write five sentences in Spanish. While Duke gets out of school and goes to fight the rouges. Just how! Steph was Batgirl while in college, and didn’t drop out. Damian is able to patrol all night than go to school, and not like bomb all his work.

I just realised something. Is the entirety of malevolent just Harlan Guthrie?
Because I thought at first that Kayne took Arthur's appearance because he sounded exactly like Arthur. And then neither John nor Arthur said anything about it so I was like are my ears playing tricks on me? Is it just the same voice actor but no actual similarity in universe? So I checked, and it WAS the same VA, but then I looked at the rest of the characters and it was all the same guy.

not to be a downer but I am suuuuuuper worried that because Hunter is going through it and is pissed he's going to say something to Echo blaming him for what happened to Tech.
I am not prepared for that kind of pain.

So. It’s been sort of a fandom thing that Izzy would have a soft spot of kids, right?
Well now I can’t stop thinking about him and Sam semi-adopting John King, the ten year old boy that volunteered himself to Sam’s crew during the raid on the Bonetta.
You can’t tell me Izzy wouldn’t aggressively and grumpily start apprenticing/parenting little Johnny after Sam just shows up with him one day. It wasn’t uncommon for kids as young as ten to sign on to ships as cabin boys, so.
Basically, over the sound of this kids wailing mother—John King did have a mother on board the Bonetta who very likely would have tried her best to keep her kid from running off with pirates—Sam is over there like, “ah guess I have a kid now. Should probably let my husband know.”

@castaccio you make a good point! I'll admit, I did kinda narrow down on the conflict and your input did make me think a bit more!
Sure, his conflict and need to stop his father aren't the only thing that defines him, but the other aspects of his life are as fairly tragic.
His need to save the children, who tried to kill him + were killed by his father
His want to mend his relationship with his siblings, which one of them being extremely loyal to his father and scooping out his organs and the other who was also trying to kill him alongside the missing children.
And his regret about the Bite, which defines a fair bit of him.
It's just- SO much, if not all of his life is defined by tragedy and atonement and it's incredibly fascinating. All of his personality and character is defined by the tragedies his father caused that it's all he's remembered for.
It's kinda poetic. So much of his life was a mess of tragedy and atonement that there wasn't any time for it to be anything else.
That's another potential reason we don't have much of his personality outside of the animatronics or his father.
He didn't let himself be defined outside of anything else.
Maybe atonement.
Maybe punishment.
Or maybe there simply wasn't TIME for being just himself.
Not while his father's victims were still hurting.
Not when HIS victim was still hurting.

Something common with all the Chuuya's in anything I write is of him is that he will never have proper closure from the people who hurt him
He will never get proper revenge and he will never get to know why they made him suffer like that
He's always going to be left unsatisfied

Just realised my MK fics are mostly tagged as "General Audiences" but... is it a proper tagging? I mean, they are pretty violent at times, they aren't too gory but there's a lot of death and blood. Perhaps I could put them as "Teens and Up Audiences"?
Is it valid? The tagging system on AO3 sometimes confuse me...

i hate this thing some people in fandom do - probably especially younger fans - where they take a character who is a bad person and will just. attribute random Bad Actions to them with absolutely no thought to character consistency.
and like. it's just fandom, it's just headcanons, etc, it doesn't really matter. but I think it's another symptom of the black-and-white thinking a lot of younger people fall into, and I really wish it would just stop.

In honor of Spooky Month, in GIAG, who is pro-"Reader/Viewer, beware; you're in for a scare" vs. pro-"I present for the approval of the Midnight Society..."? And if the latter, classical or reboot/revival?
Let's see
Lloyds- I'm pretty sure I said somewhere Luh-Loyd can't stand scary movies, so he can barely tolerate either, but Lil'Loyd loves both and drags the Ninja into marathons with him, especially around the Day of the Departed.
Kais and Nyas- Buddy Kai is an avid fan of Goosebumps and Cyan Nya binges Are You Afraid of the Dark? and the two have epic debates arguing in favor of each and refusing to watch the other's preference unless Luh-Loyd is there to torment and one happens to be on. Spike Kai and Red Nya didn't get the chance to enjoy them growing up while keeping themselves afloat but have gained an appreciation for them when Lil'Loyd introduced them.
Jays- Freckles Jay also hates scary movies, though he manages a bit better than Luh-Loyd, so the campy style of the sillier Goosebumps books is about his level of tolerance, he definitely prefers the books to the show as then he can read and stop at his own pace if it gets too much. Nick Jay DEVOURERED both shows as a kid, but has more exposure to Are You Afraid of the Dark? than Goosebumps because living out in the middle of nowhere had very limited library access and slightly less limited TV signal and that was the channel he got.
Zanes- Zen Zane had no exposure to the series until Lil'Loyd's marathons, and while he doesn't get why they're supposed to be scary, he still enjoys watching them with his friends. Pep Zane watched and read everything because they were popular and what 'normal kids' read and he wanted to fit in. However, Goosebumps' A Shocker on Shock Street's twist ending hits a little too close to home for him, and he hasn't picked it up or watched the episode since.
Coles- Cliff Cole is a Goosebumps fan. As the only Show Ninja with a relatively normal education up to a certain point, he actually got to go to book fairs as a kid and loved them as a kid. Particularly because his mom would read them to him and do the best spooky voices. DJ Cole similarly prefers Goosebumps for the same reason and passes that on to the kids he babysits when they make the mistake of asking for that as a bedtime story. The kids both love and hate him for it.

okay but can we talk about the contrast, the god damn narrative foil, that is Melli and Iscan?
on the one hand you have Melli. we’ve learned that he used to be shy, but decided to change for the sake of supporting Adaman. he comes off to me as someone who needs to be helpful. who can’t stand if it feels like he’s being pushed aside. Isn’t useful anymore
Melli, who is warden to a Pokémon known for their self destructive behavior. the signature move of Hisuian Electrode is a recoil move, after all, and Lord Electrode does know it in the rematch
then on the other hand, there’s Iscan. we weren’t told about his childhood, but he does come off as shy and anxious as an adult. he, too, is warden to a Pokémon known for recoil moves, as a Basculegion doesn’t come about without having subjected themself to a self damaging move, but without fainting from it. also of potential note is that Iscan is warden for a ride Pokémon, while Melli is warden for a noble Pokémon
Iscan, unlike Melli, is braver than he looks on the outside. he saved Palina’s life. he asked the player to bring back a Pokémon he’s so scared of, he can’t even say the name without fear, just so you could continue your quest. he’s in a relationship with someone from his rival clan, and only keeps it secret because she doesn’t want her name to sully his
these two came from the same clan. what the hell happened? all i know is that from what i can tell? Iscan is far more certain and secure in who he is than Melli is
Melli, who started using a mask, and perhaps never stopped. who caught a whiff of potentially not being seen as good enough twice (once when there was a meeting about his lord that he wasn’t invited to, and once when he saw that a child was being called on for assistance with finding the ore needed while he was told to keep doing what he had seemingly failed at previously) and inserted himself into the situation, insisting that he could help. that he was amazing and great and could not fail (and yet got in your way when you first met him and insisted on being “moral support” later on, and then a gift of candy truffles when you further prove your worth)
i dunno i just think it’s interesting
i mean Melli eventually asks for help with the pesky flying croissant but like, that’s post game, after the festival, when things have calmed down a bit more
