This week is going to be hilarious.

Given that I was in the same position only a few months ago, you’d think I’d have more sympathy for the new hires. But you’d be wrong. 

Today, much like my first day, they spent most of their day filling out paperwork, but I did get to see them interact with everyone at lunch and these poor saps were not prepared for the zany cast of characters working this sanctuary.

First, there was Leroy. Miraculously the two candidates recommended by our field team managed to get hired and only two of the five by the other team made it through which means that the competition has ended in a tie. This has not stopped Leroy from being obnoxious. 

After all that Sammy rubbed in his inevitable defeat he is delighted to rub in how wrong she was and he composed a ballet that he performed at lunch, much to Sammy’s consternation and the new hires’ befuddlement. We’re still going out drinking tonight, but we’re all paying for our own drinks.

Then there was Warrick, being their usual annoying self and bragging about their online following and telling the new people they’d show them around the enclosures (we had to explain why that’s a bad idea to the new hires). 

Then there was Pam, with her usual sas and bluntness absolutely embarrassing a new hire who thought he was hot shit.

It’s going to be great.
