Sorry, two minutes, back on Casanova (2005) --

The scene where Casanova, in Paris, watches an execution with other noble people is such a powerful scene to me. The building disgust and disturbance on his face as he watches what happens, and as he watches the delight of the people around him. The scene really expertly portrays that disturbance. I feel disturbed watching it, and I can't even see any of the execution. The subtle tension, turned not-so-subtle not-so-slowly, is so poignant and impactful. The disturbed look on Casanova's face as he sees his own son's delight.

The slow motion of him sending Giac Junior away, shielding him from the sight. And then we are shown the grins and joy of the people around him once more. He is isolated in this feeling. He is the only one disturbed, and that fact is disturbing enough on its own.

It almost feels like the natural predecessor to the Naples scene. The disgust on Casanova's face as he watches his son and his daughter feel each other up, egged on by everyone around them. He is the only one who is disturbed. Even Bellino, someone he once knew so intimately, has been so altered by this high society that she isn't phased.

This is the baby step to that. Giacomo Junior was born into this life, while his father wasn't. Giacomo Junior is disconnected from his father -- he is part of a different society. He hasn't faked his way there. He's just following along, and growing up around these people. He is the product of both neglect and a fucked-up, corrupted society that takes pleasure over morals.

He is what people view his father as. He is what his father will always be remembered as. A playboy, with no moral compass, and a greed for pleasure. Casanova, in Naples, is disgusted by the sight of what he has become, in the eyes of history.

Casanova doesn't really belong among these people. He has faked his way in. He is deeply disturbed. They are not.

I will take no questions or criticism to this take as i have never had a constructive thought in my life (/j)

Donny's info from my 03 separated au (which i think i'm just calling the Ninja Club au for now. b/c it's stupid and gives me high school vibes.)

But yeah! I wanted to post Mikey here as well, but he's not done yet. (my cringe son will have to get his own post. Darn lol.)

ANYWAYS! Details!

Donny, of course, was raised by the Jones family after they all got separated during a sewer collapse (or something. I may rework the that later) when they're about 2-3 yo. Donny gets found and brought home by a 9 yo Casey.

Splinter finds him when he's eight and spoke with him briefly. But Splinter was in disguise so Donny didn't recognize him past a vague feeling of safe (which he fought against b/c this is Donny.) After realizing that Donny is safe and well taken care of, Splinter leaves him be. (the best splinter could offer was a place in the sewers and if Donny was able to not live in the sewers, Splinter was not going to take that away from him.)

They gets reunited with most of his mutant family (Raph's still missing) when their fifteen. And that's only b/c Mikey refused to wait anymore and surprised him late at work before Splinter could tell him not to.

He's pretty confused about it all, at first, but he eventually happy to have contact with his siblings. (tho he's less stoked about the adventures he keeps getting dragged out on during school nights.)

for the first few months, he's very against learning to fight. He's a high schooler. Sure Mikey and Leo can fight, but that doesn't mean he has to learn.

But then there's an incident involving Shredder, Leo, and a very breakable window, and he realizes he needs to learn so he's not the weak link and so he can protect himself and his brothers. (it also helps that they found out the Shredder had been targeting Donny for said treatment first due to his lack of training and how easy it would be to grab him from school. But Donny hadn't went to school during those days so they went after Leo instead.)

I have so many stupid ideas for this, you have no idea. anyways, that's all for now. Mikey's might be up later today, but i have work to get to rn.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like if Michael and Mike did get together? Or maybe you felt like WOE.BEGONE wasn't angsty enough and you wanted more reasons to REALLY cry over the characters? Or you just wanted to see Mike and Michael be a cute, fucked up domestic couple that has a lot of hot sex?

You should read IRP, it's meticulousy researched and often feels like reading bonus episodes from W.BG (I've often accidently called the chapters "episodes" in my reviews)

Plus it has actually made me cry a few times. Ty is wonderfully written and he's infuriating, awful and there's this really fucked up Compound Mikey that's unlike any Compound Mikey you've ever seen.

Jan quirked up an eyebrow, having the urge to turn around and see what Kris was looking for, but he stopped himself, hanging his umbrella onto the little coat rack instead. “Where is Bojan?” Kris continued and Jan just shrugged, swallowing around the little lump forming in his throat, making it hard to speak.

The 6th chapter of Intertwined is up now! I've tried keeping the chapter shorter than the last few, which only partially worked since it's still 6k words, but it's okay.

fucking love it so much when bbh breaks character and just honestly talks about his feelings and intentions about the server, its seriously so interesting knowing that he would like to do a more chaotic fun approach to the elections but doesnt think it would suit his character so hes playing up the getting skeppy idea to try and make it more fun and lighthearted and that he really believes that he not going to win but he thinks sitting out would be boring for his audience and that he tried doing the grinding for the leaders boards but finds it really boring so hes decided hes not going to put alot of stake into it. like its so nice knowing his thought process and like actual reasons behind his actions. love my streamer man :) (im being a little parasocial)

Ok fuck it you know something I've never really quite understood about part of the Leftist vs Liberals debate on voting.

So so so many people act like its either-or. Like you're either dedicating your entire life to voting and promoting politicians and phone banking or whatever, or you're a True Rebel waiting for The Uprising to Come and Solve Everything.

But like. In my experience. Me voting is just me kinda go 'which person seems kinda good? Which one at least sucks the least? ok lemme go vote.' and then its anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour tops of my life. And I still have plenty of time to do Stuff and participate in Conversations about Other Important Things. And also you can admit and acknowledge and understand that the system As Is kinda sorta really sucks ass, but also still admit and acknowledge and understand that at this current point in time we are still living in the suckass system and do something to alleviate the suckass At Least A Little while also working to bolster/create/advocate for Other Systems.

I guess just like. it's not a black or white thing. Between 'top 500 volunteers for a specific politician/voting office/etc' and 'absolutely positively not voting at all' there is a gray area called 'vote and then just do other stuff'.

Cannot imagine whatever is going on through Mr Leonard Echowatcher's head. You spend your life yearning for a world where you lived differently, where the day wasnt soaked in war, blood, and battle. Where you could envision a future where you have a partner and a family with friends to live gracefully with. But then you are given such opportunities only to find you were never taught to be gentle, you have a gentle, empathetic nature and yet the physicality of it is a stranger to you. You are expected to raise a child with gentle hands so that she saves the world, What does that even mean? How can you accept your growing love for your friend when you were never taught how to love, that intimate love is a luxury best left forgotten, there are no need for such things in war. He has to learn to become the things he wanted bc he grew too old to develop it naturally. He becomes a father to taimi fumbling his way into learning how to care and parent, he is defensive of Aurene bc he is from a culture where they arent expected to raise their own young and yet has to do so with a dragon. It feels like a test, He has to prove both to others and to himself he is capable of being a father, of nuturing, that calloused, stained hands can still be gentle. He has to accept that love is a terrifying leap of faith in vulnerability in order to gain a partnership that is considered a rarity. I love the idea that he spent 30 years yearning for things he thought he would never have and when he is actually given those opportunities (albeit admittedly through unusual circumstances) he has to learn how to actually live in them, becuase they were always just Concepts until now. Ohhhh my god Mr. Leo you are my everything
