remember when loki compared himself to thor? and he implied that he too has gone soft due to falling for a mortal?
now, remember thor asking heimdall to watch over jane’s life for him?
guess what loki was doing with mobius’ life right now?

loki series paralleling end of the first thor movie is actually very insane and real to me
both ending with thor/loki looking over their loved one (thor asking heimdall about how jane is vs loki actually watching / listening (?) for mobius)
and is also proof that this is just the beginning of loki’s story, not the end.
it is the end of the loki we were first introduced to but this is a new and improved loki.
idk if this makes sense but it does to me and also confirms lokius endgame <3
(the amount of parallels between thor/jane and loki/mobius is actually insane and one day i need someone to create a whole post dedicated to them)

Why Fosterson?
Recently @beheworthy pointed me to a post in which someone asked why the Thor movies, Thor: Love and Thunder in particular, portray Fosterson as the OTP. Someone else reposted and said they agreed, that the material of the first post enumerates why they themselves didn't ship Fosterson. I'll not respond to it directly, in the spirit of "ship and let ship" (a sentiment the second poster endorsed). But I will make my case here.
Why Thor loves Jane is best articulated in Thor: The Mighty Avenger by Roger Langridge and Chris Samnee:

The movies don't do as good a job expressing this, and that's on those writers. But it is there. They hint at it in the first film, starting at 2:33: "Thank you, Jane".
youtube
Then there's "I will return for you" (0:56).
youtube
In Thor: the Dark World, he is shown as continuing to be devoted to her, inquiring after her well-being for two years after he (reluctantly) destroyed the Bifrost. I haven't seen Thor: Love and Thunder, so I can't point to elements that are in that film.
Why Jane loves Thor is also shown in that rooftop scene, at 0:59: "Because you're right". He believes in her, when no one else will. She is a woman in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). I also work in STEM, and I can tell you that having someone believe in you and your work is not a very common thing. In Thor, we saw earlier in the film how professionally isolated she is, even from her mentor Dr. Selvig. Having someone back her 100% is huge.
There is a relationship book by psychologist Dr. Sue Johnson called Hold Me Tight. The thesis is that couples need secure bonds in one another. Members have ways of calling out for their partners for their support. Feeling that their calls will be answered is very important for that bond. That's what Thor and Jane have.

Mermay plot bunnies: Marvel ships
JaneThor-Jane is a marine biologist studying off the coast of Norway when a supposedly mythical creature starts following her boat. She doesn’t believe merpeople are a thing, but her new friend Thor, who is as buff as a god and as friendly as a golden retriever, consents to let her study him and she finally has to admit he is definitely not faking anything. Also, he’s totally hot.
Wintershock-Darcy is enjoying a nice beach vacation in Florida when she spots what looks like a dead body floating into shore. Impulsively, she rushes in to help, managing to drag the limp dude to shore, dropping him in surprise when she sees his shiny silver tail instead of legs. The poor merman looks thin and battered, is missing his left arm, and is very hostile to the people that try to help him. In the end it takes a tranquilizer for them to be able to get him into a truck to transport to the local marine life rescue center. Darcy, who’s met merpeople before and can speak some mermish, decides to attempt to talk to the dude, who doesn’t even remember his own name. It takes a couple weeks, but he finally starts responding positively to her company instead of hissing at her in fear. When she finally coaxes a smile out of him, it’s the most stunning grin she’s ever seen. Can she help the merman uncover the mystery of his past?
Shieldshock- Steve gets a crush on a gorgeous mermaid he met at the beach and who flirts shamelessly with him every time they meet. He’s falling hard for the lovely Darcy, but there’s a bit of a problem with the whole different species issue. Also, his crippling phobia of water prevents him from getting very close to her. Darcy is tired of her jerk mer suitors and decides the hunky human is a much better catch. (If only she can coax him close enough to kiss.) With all the obstacles between them, can this romance ever thrive?
Romanogers- Steve is captured and experimented on by Evil Scientists, resulting in him becoming a merman. When he’s rescued, his condition is kept highly secret and he has to live in a giant, heavily guarded tank, being poked and prodded by more scientists. Steve falls into despondency and shuts out everyone but Natasha, who’s too stubborn to let him push her away. She never fails to visit him everyday (when she’s not on a mission) and give him updates so he still feels like a part of things. They have some very good talks about being turned into something you didn’t want to be. Natasha tries not to think about how hard it is not to thirst after Steve, who really makes a gorgeous merman, but she does everything in her power to hunt down answers for him. (Eventually, they can’t fight their growing attraction anymore and There is a secret late night kiss when she sneaks into his tank).
TaserBones- Undercover secret Triple Agent Brock Rumlow is assigned by Hydra to guard their newest “asset”, who turns out to be a feisty, mouthy, GORGEOUS mermaid. Brock has never had so much difficulty maintaining his cover when she’s alternating between sassing him or going on loud anti-Hydra rants. When he hears the horrible plans they have for her, he knows he has to act fast, Fury be damned. Darcy hates that she finds her Nazi thug guard attractive, but when he sneaks her to freedom and she finds out that he’s not actually one of them, she’s highly bewildered, but also relieved. She really didn’t want to have use her special shock powers on him. While Shield keeps her in protective custody and attempts to locate her pod, she gets to spend more time with Brock and the banter and flirting goes up several notches.
WinterWitch: After escaping Hydra, Bucky stumbles upon a mermaid deep in one of Hydra’s dungeons. She’s starved, scared, and….telepathic? Despite his dislike of hearing a voice in his head, Bucky decides to rescue her. He’s not sure about the logistics of traveling with a mermaid, but Wanda informs him she can shapeshift once he takes off the restraints. His quest for revenge turns into a quest for finding Wanda’s brother, who is also a Hydra captive. As they journey across Europe, a bond begins to form.
Brutasha: Bruce Banner has a hard time accepting that someone could love him and his alter ego, not to mention the fear of accidentally hurting his potential partner. Mermaid Natasha Romanoff has spent her life living among sirens being forced to lure men to their death with her song. Having escaped their clutches, she now works for Shield as an aquatic spy. Bruce’s kind smiles and thoughtfulness are very attractive to Natasha, who’s used to being considered a weapon or a freak of nature. When someone tries to kill Natasha and the Hulk comes out to defend her, she sees just how much Bruce and the Hulk really care about her.
Dousy: Abandoned as a young merling, Daisy Johnson spent much of her life surviving on her own until she met her found family in the Merpeople of Shields aquatic division. After many exciting adventures, and several heartbreaks, including falling for a man who turned out to be Hydra, the team is fighting powerful enemies using time travel and in the process “accidentally” kidnap a mer agent from the 50s. Daniel is cute, dorky, and caring and a really good agent and Daisy starts crushing hard. Can they defeat the baddies and hope for a new start?
SarahBucky, Shasam: Mer Siblings Sarah and Sam are struggling to keep their fishing business going in the wake of their parents death. Then one day, they save a couple of spies from drowning and their lives are changed forever. At first, Bucky and Sharon are too busy blaming each other to make any sense, but after talking to each of them separately, Sarah and Sam figure out their get away boat was sabotaged, stranding the pair on the deserted island near the cove the Wilson’s called home. Sam wants to help them get back to civilization so Bucky will stop making eyes at his sister. Sarah wants them gone so dangerous people will stay far away from her family. The more she gets to know Bucky, though, the less she wants him gone. Sam hasn’t seen a woman as sharp and pretty as Sharon and he is all too willing to show her around their home and give tips for survival. (He’d really like her to survive, okay?)

08082022 - Thor: Love and Thunder
waiting is a harsh endeavour (made easier with company)
~
Jane is in Valhalla exactly three days before she runs into the last person she’d thought she’d see there.
She’s met Thor’s friends she learns he lost to his sister, Hela, and Heimdall has brought her before Odin and Frigga (and Frigga’s hug had been nearly bone-crushing), and slowly, she’s been settling in into an afterlife she’s never expected, wondering about the day (and dreading it, too, for what it would mean) when Thor would arrive.
She meets his brother first, though.
And really, Jane hasn’t seen nor thought of Loki since the whole thing with the Aether, had known him to be dead and gone, lost to the harsh terrains of Svartalfheim.
It never occurred to her that he’d be in Valhalla, too, though he did die in battle.
“Jane Foster,” he greets her, and Jane has to blink in confusion. He looks… he sounds, he even feels different, than she remembers. Gone are the dark circles beneath his eyes, gone is the perpetual grimace on his face. Loki looks rested, at peace, though there’s something like sadness behind his eyes, something like longing. Something Jane recognizes because she feels it just as keenly.
“Loki,” she nods, because there’s no point to past animosities here. And he did kind of save her life once. So.
They go for drinks, because what else is there to do but eat and drink and reminisce and make merry in this place?
~
“I didn’t expect to see you here, honestly,” she says after the second tankard of ale.
“Whereas I always thought you’d end up exactly here, whether by your own strength or my brother’s bullheadedness,” Loki says, head leaning on his fist, elbow propped lazily on the edge of the table.
~
“I heard you dumped him,” he says, looking up at the starry sky.
Jane doesn’t know what he sees, but she knows who he wishes he could see. “It was… complicated.”
He hums at that.
~
“He mourns you, you know,” she whispers it like a secret that isn’t really hers to tell. But then, Thor’s always been both hers and his, she thinks. She knows he mourns them both now.
Loki huffs, something rueful and heartbreaking to hear. “He’s always been sentimental like that.” He shakes his head, takes another drink. Jane pretends she doesn’t see the way he bites his lip.
~
“I do miss him.”
“I know. I miss him, too.”
“Though I don’t want him coming here anytime soon.”
“Yeah, no, me neither. He still has a life to live. Things to do.”
“Mn.”
~
It's centuries before Thor's long-awaited arrival in Valhalla, though maybe not as many as Jane thought would pass. His face when he sees both her and his brother there to greet him, though, is more than enough to set her soul at ease.
"Hey," she says with a smile at the same time Loki says a soft, "Hello, brother."
Thor tackles them both to the ground, sobbing on them and laughing, and Jane thinks, Finally.
