Prompt:
It’s not that Jason forgot, per se.
But between smuggling a toddler out of the League of Assassins, trekking halfway across the world, and finding a suitable hiding place that’s also child friendly… well, it kind of slipped his mind that he’s supposed to be… dead.
Something that comes back to bite him in the ass when he takes Dami out for some ice cream and just so happens to run into non other than Brucie-fucking-Wayne
#look I’ve found a new fave trope and it’s Brucie Wayne having to keep up his act while internally LOSING HIS SHIT#Jason isn’t very into the whole revenge thing here#his mind is 85 parts ‘keep Dami safe’ 5 parts ‘kill joker asap’ and 10 parts ‘avoid bats at any cost’#Jason doesn’t know who Damian’s father is#dealer’s choice if Jason establishes himself as Dami’s dad or older brother#his build certainly makes him look old enough#if you don’t look at his baby face lol#Jason runs into Brucie and goes straight into survival mode#Damian who is very observant for a toddler immediately clocks Brucie as THREAT based on Jason’s reaction#Brucie blue screens and desperately tries not to lose Jason in the crowd#jason is absolutely trying to lose Brucie in the crowd#while clutching Damian like his life depends on it#for all he knows it does#the visceral terror that your pseudo dad will take away your little brother/baby#Bruce who just wants to know if he’s hallucinating again: W A I T#jason who is terrified of being put in Arkham for killing people: no FUCKING WAY#hm maybe Jason plays the ‘I’m not Jason’ game again#it’s not gonna hold for long#but Bruce absolutely thinks that Damian is Jason’s bio child for a while and he’s on the WARPATH#Jason was sixteen when he died and never showed any interest in dating so literally every red flag is waving in brucie’s mind simultaneousl#or maybe Jason manages to get away and all Brucie is left with is the memory of his supposedly dead son#running away from him#and clutching a tiny kid#prompts#jason todd#batfamily#Damian wayne#batdad#brucie wayne

18+ Jason Todd x fem!reader fic ramble.
Hey, so this is a idea i've had in my head for a while, but it won't leave me alone. I've kinda written the first part of it already? But idk if I'll finish it. I haven't worked out the ending yet either but a couple of lovely people were interested in hearing it so here goes! Thanks for the support! I'll tag you all separately.
Warnings: excessive torture, manipulation, gaslighting, rape, violence. kidnapping, interrogation, Stockholm syndrome, abuse. I dont specifically mention how old the characters are, but B-Man likes to pick them young so use your imagination to age them up a bit if you like. It's dark folks, and a super slow burn, though it might not be so bad written in brief here, but if those bother you it might not be a good idea to read it. (its hidden under the cut - PS it got super long - 2.5k words.)
You are Robin. Or, you were at least.
Batman picked you up out of crime alley, gave you a home and a purpose and trained you up to be one of the best deterrents to the crime in Gotham. You lived in the manor, and thought of Bruce and Alfred (even Dick) as your family. It's awesome and you love it!
Almost two years after donning the cape, something goes wrong. You get split up from Batman and taken by Jokers men. That night is the last night you see the sky for years.
Over the next three years, you are systematically abused, manipulated, gaslighted and tortured until you are a shell of your former self. Conditioned to obey his every whim, you micro dose of the small crumbs of affection Joker has to offer you. He gives you test after test, pushing you to your limit always in new and horrific ways. You don't hesitate when he asks you to shoot someone in the head or to beat someone to death. The consequences of fighting against him aren't worth it, you have learned that the hard way. He even doesn't always lock the door behind him and yet you don't try to escape.
You hate batman with a passion now, you regret ever having met the man, he has ruined your life and it's his fault that you are where you are now. He abandoned you. Used you for his games and then replaced you like you were nothing to him. It broke your heart when Joker showed you the footage of another Robin running along the rooftops. Your replacement. Heartbreak boiled over to fury and rage.
He passes you around his acquaintances, particularly Johnathan Crane who is eager to test his new strain of fear gas out. Under the gas you see the Bat sacrificing you again and again to get what he wants. If Scarecrow takes advantage of you while he has you in a vulnerable state, no one cares enough to stop him. He wants to know who the Bat is, but you know that telling him will put Alfred in danger and you'll do anything to avoid that
(Thankfully the joker doesn't want to know who the bat is, you're not sure you could defy him like that anymore.)
Then one day, a body gets thrown into the small cell you are kept in when joker doesn't want to play. Its a Robin. You panic, fear and anger confusing you while joker laughs in your face. You know it's another test but you can't figure out what the rules are.
This is where the fic starts. It's about Jason Todd's slow descent from a vibrant punk who loves being Robin to the dejected, abused shell of a boy who hates the caped crusader and will do anything Joker tells him. You know it'll happen, because that's what happened to you.
Only, Joker never does the same thing twice. Even if it works. You don't want to get attached to the boy, but birds of a feather and all that jazz.
Highlights (or lowlights) include:
Having to share a small confined cell with Jason.
Arguing about the Joker and escaping
"Don't you want to leave? Crazy bitch."
Finding out that Batman didn't even tell Jason about you:
“Why would he come for you anyway, huh? What makes you so special?” “I’m Robin. We’re partners. We’ve been through all kinds of shit together. We’re like this.” “Pah. You really believe it too, don’t you? Ya poor sap.” “What do you mean?” “Why go to the bother of finding a dumb punk like you when he can just make a new shiny Robin instead?” “He wouldn’t do that.” “He’s already done it. You ain’t the first.” “That Robin moved away, he’s doing his own thing now.” “I wasn’t talking about him. I meant the other one.” “What other one?” “The other one.” “There aren’t any other ones – I’m the only other Robin that there’s ever been.” “You motherfucker!”
Beating the shit out of Jason in a blind rage because he won't stop talking about how Batman will come for him.
“How long have you known Batsy for huh? If you know him so well.” “Nearly three years. How long have you known him huh? Oh that’s right – you don’t” “What? Three – Three years?” “That’s what I said. Look, I know this is scary, but I trust B-Man. He’ll come for me, we’ll kick all these guy’s asses, take Joker back to Arkham and get you out of here too. It’ll be okay, you’ll see.” “B-Man?” “Yeah, Batman.” “Shut up.” “What? Why?” “I don’t want to talk about him anymore so shut up!”
Jason finally figuring out who you are when Joker comes to punish you for denting his new toy.
Joker calling you pet names while manipulates you and you being terrified the Joker is going to replace you too
“Oh. Pumpkin, it’s alright. I thought we agreed we were over this, no? Batsy kicked you to the curb a long time ago. It’s old news! This shiny new toy of ours is your replacement.”. “What? You’re replacing me too?” “No, no no. I’d never dream of doing something so barbaric, Sweetheart. That’s the Bats’ M.O. You’re mine for keeps. I would never be that cruel, would I?”
Jason taking his anger out on you:
“Why do you hate B and not the Joker? He’s the one that’s doing this to you. He shipped you off to Crane and you didn’t even fight back.” “You have no idea what you’re talking about.” “No, I know exactly what I’m talking about. You’re screwed in the head. You’re a joke, you’ve given up. Some Robin you are. A real Robin fights back. You don’t deserve the title.”
Joker making you put your Robin suit back on to fight Jason for his amusement. Jason hesitates in the beginning but kicks your ass every time.
Jason trying to comfort you but being bad at it.
Joker asking your opinion on you what you think will break the boy:
"When he gets replaced. Show him."
Weeks of being beaten then long stretches of being left alone with Jason with no instructions.
Catching Jason staring at you when he thinks you're not paying attention.
Joker being caught and taken to Arkham so you both get knocked out and transported there too.
Joker ignores you the entire time he's there as he's being watched to closely, the separation sets you off into a panic when you think about it too much.
Most of Arkham is in on you being kept there. The prisoners who know about it are paid off by being able to play with you - and now Jason too.
Jason thinking in Arkham he would have more chance of being able to escape.
You being subjected to more of Crane's abuse and different types of gas.
Jason being brought back to your cell after being tortured by calendar man and offering him comfort for the first time.
Being cut open and tortured by Zsaz.
Huddling up in the abandoned wing of Arkham for warmth and comfort.
Remembering that you had met before, years ago in the Narrows before Batman took you to be his adopted daughter.
Jason taking care of you while you recover.
Giving Jason advice on how to cope and get through the different villains taking revenge on you.
Jason being hurt and tired and snapping at you, causing an argument where you lash out at him:
"I had to go through this all on my own, dickweed. I didn't have anyone to hold my hand and tell me I wasn't going to die. So fuck you! God forbid I try and help your sorry ass."
Jason being tortured by two-face and seeing Batman and a new Robin visiting Arkham. They don't hear him scream for them to help. It breaks his heart and his will to fight.
You knew it would happen, but seeing it first hand makes your heart break for him. You didn't want to be right. You hate Batman more for what he's done to Jason than what he's done to you.
"I was right there (y/n)! Right there and he didn't even look at me."
Talking about Alfred and how much he means to you both.
Thinking you might actually have feelings for Jason after all.
Being transported back to the compound when Joker finally breaks out of Arkham again only to be in separate cells.
Having major separation anxiety from not being able to tell if Jason is okay.
Joker being jealous of your attachment to Jason and doubling down on his control over you.
He tries to take you outside and you panic so badly you beg him to take you back because you're terrified of what being free will mean.
Joker telling you that you failed his test by getting attached to the boy. He tells you that he's going to kill Jason to teach you a lesson.
Being put back in a cell with Jason to find his face has been branded and he's just so utterly void of any hope or any life.
Sitting next to Jason in the cell with your head on his shoulder.
Jason knowing he's going to die without you having to tell him. His voice is quiet and resigned, almost with a shred of relief when he says:
"He's going to kill me soon, isn't he?" "I'm going to miss you, Jason Todd." "I'm glad I got to know you, (Y/N). I'm sorry I couldn't get us out." "It's okay."
You kissing his cheek as you drift off huddled together for the last time.
Joker forcing you to watch as he beats Jason repeatedly with a crowbar, ignoring your defiant cries and struggles for him to stop.
"Which hurts more Little Red? Hmm? Forehand? Or Backhand? I think (Y/N) would like to know!"
Joker blaming you for having to kill Jason:
"And all because of your silly school girl crush. What a waste. I'm very disappointed in you, Dolly."
Being dragged away screaming from his lifeless body and thrown into the back of a van just in time before the building explodes.
That's the first half. For the second half to the ending, I haven't quite figured out yet. I've got a few ideas, but I can't decide what would fit better, feel free to help me out here.
Batman could find her after all this time, new evidence being uncovered during the explosion and in his grief about finding Jason's body he could question that he never actually found yours. Of course then you'd be homicidal and try to kill him, resulting in you being locked in another cell, this time in the Batcave. You'd get to scream at him about all his failings and what a terrible person he is though so that could be cathartic. Alfred (And Dick a little) manages to talk you back to some kind of sanity but you are forever changed by this. You meet Red Hood at a later date: on your way to find an egg and cheese sandwich when someone pulls a gun on you. Seeing you again jars him out of his own homicidal rage long enough to care about the girl who he couldn't save, giving the BatFam an opening to reason with him some.
-Or-
Joker keeps you hidden away and the Bat still has no idea you even exist. It stays that way for two more years where you eventually become completely numb to everything he or his acquaintances do to you. Joker eventually gets bored at the lack of reaction and in his boredom he gets careless. A new vigilante takes it upon himself to blow up to compound and best all Joker's men, he escapes but the vigilante doesn't chase after him and instead he finds you. You resist his attempts to save you, knowing how angry Joker will be so instead, Red Hood punches you in the face, knocking you out. He carries out into the night and you wake up somewhere new and he tries to help unravel the fuck ton of issues you've got while dealing with his own. He'll probably enlist the BatFam to help once he's done wanting to kill them, unless you can talk him into killing the Bat together, after the Joker dies of course.
-Or-
One day, maybe a year after Jason dies, Joker decides he's bored of you and gives you one last curveball. After more than 6 years of being isolated and abused, you wake up in an alley on the streets of Gotham, alone. Abandoned again. After several panic attacks and not knowing if it was a test and that you should run back to the Joker or going to find Alfred because he's the only person in the world left that you trust, you decide to leave Gotham altogether. You make it out and somehow navigate your way to having an apartment, a job and even a quiet life in Bludhaven, away from the Bat and the Clown and the nightmares. Except that one day, while you're drinking your morning coffee in a café, Dick Grayson sits down opposite you. You're stable enough not to react immediately, and Dick seems to really care that you're alive and well. Turns out that the Bat found out about you and decided to leave you alone this whole time (which only serves to double down on your feelings of abandonment) Only the joker is out of control and they think that you could help them by giving them an insight into how the joker works. They've got a new Vigilante to deal with too so they're stretched pretty thin. You flat out refuse which is when it turns out it really wasn't a request. You are taken back to Gotham and confronted with the BatFam, helping them reluctantly when Red Hood breaks into your new apartment, demanding information. You argue, and it feels too familiar, setting off a panic attack when he ribs you about your complicated relationship with the Joker. Identities are revealed and you work together to take down the Joker.
The epilogue to this saga would be some time after any of those options.
Both you and Jason finally in a healthier place where you can actually acknowledge what has been growing between you two since you were paired together all those years ago. It's not a neat and tidy happily ever after, it's messy and full of arguments, fears and misunderstandings but it's also full of tenderness, softness and love. And the sex is really good too.

just because you’re afraid it doesn’t mean you’re broken.
Titans 3.05
once more into the cold dark void of the internet with my stream-of-consciousness take on a superhero tv show...
spoilers ahead.
1. i cannot believe that among the first things i get to hear in this episode with my own two ears is the line 'eluded our overdudes'. why must you give me such pain along with so much joy, show?
1.5. scarecrow stringing jason along on this path to red-hood-dom is not something i would’ve ever expected, but does kind of make sense.
1.55. i don’t know all the details of the original resurrection arc in the comics but i like that jason, weirdly, has a greater role to play in his own demise and rebirth? i think it makes it easier to draw a line between his past trauma, the demonstrably shitty and terrifying responsibility of being robin, the ways bruce and the titans wronged him, his responses to that, the reasons he turns to scarecrow, and his final evolution to red hood. it makes for a smoother character arc rather than a one that was interrupted for two decades before somebody went oh hey let’s resurrect that kid that the audience once voted to kill and make him an anti-hero!
1.75. what’s crane giving him? anti fear toxin? anyway, crane is a fucking creep and i’m not sure i want to see a whole lot of him on my screen.
2. oh, um, heads up: there’s a long sequence of unsteady cam + flickering lights right after the title card upto the 3:16 mark. it’s a bit headache-inducing so if you want to skip, you can go ahead and do that.
2.45. that’s... weird... why would he dream about... donna...
ok, who am i kidding. i’m going to jump right into my theory about Why Titans Makes Sense Actually because the show itself is apparently not interested in explaining itself:
a) it makes no sense for jason to be conjuring up donna--who famously did not care much for him!--in his dreams. (he wasn’t even there when she died.) or for her to be telling him don’t go or there’s still time.
b) this leads me to think that that’s actually donna, in some sort of limbo between life and death, the kind of place where jericho used to be
c) rachel has demonstrated that she has the power to link the minds of the titans across great distances--she called jason and hank/dawn for help in 2.01, she linked up everybody later in the season, projected dick’s hallucination of his father into their brains without even realising she was doing it, and in the finale, she managed to get dick into conner’s brain. she’s in themyscira now. is this how she gets donna back to life? but reaching out to her in that non-space between life and death?
d) the next obvious question is: why isn’t donna appearing in the dreams of the other titans? she probably is, but they have better reason to be dreaming about her since they were actually close to her, unlike jason.
e) but why would she warn jason in particular? does she foresee jason entering the afterlife--however briefly? does she have an idea of what jason plans to do and what he will become?
f) anyway, more trippy mindscapes and weird psychic powers, yay!
2.5. my heart clenched when bruce comforted jason post-nightmare: clearly i’ve been reading way too much batfam fic. this is a side of bruce we haven’t really been told to expect by all the characters on the show calling him a ‘psychopath’ (*cough*unreliablenarrators*cough*) and him getting jason to speak to a professional speaks volumes about the kind of self-reflection he’s done post dick’s departure, and maybe some of the regrets he has with regards to how he dealt with dick’s traumas.
i mean, just look at him when jason dismisses his concerns! BRUCE IS TRYING JASON
Tumblr media
anyway, i have a whole lot more i want to say about this, but i’ll save it for later.
also: LESLIE THOMPKINS!!!!
3. i really like molly--and i love that she’s a friend from before jason got taken in by bruce, the implication that they meet up regularly and that she’s a grounding influence on him (tho clearly not grounding enough to not go along with his dumbass idea about confronting a child trafficker alone).
3.5. aw, jason. robin was his armour against everything in the world that would throw him down and chew him to bits, but san francisco proved that even robin wasn’t enough to protect him. it’s really interesting how ‘disillusionment with the idea of robin’ is so integral to the traumas of both dick and jason but in such different ways.
4. LESLIE!!!!!!! i even forgive her office being so goddamn blue because leslie!
4.5. it makes so much sense for titans!verse leslie to be a therapist, because this show is so inward looking anyway, and therapist sessions are a useful tool to showcase this character work in a story. besides, at least in fanfic, leslie often seems to double up as a counsellor anyway.
4.6. oh man. i’m not terribly convinced by walters’ red hood (tho i think that may be the point--argh. i’ll come back to this thought later. have to stop getting distracted!) but he plays the asshole kid that’s trying not to let any real emotion seep through really well.
Tumblr media
“you’d like me to punch you, wouldn’t you”
5. not sure what to think of batman’s little trophy case other than the show winking unsubtly at us and going look look - catwoman! the riddler! two face! you excited yet?! it’s like the scene from the end of amazing spiderman 2 when they were trying to drum up excitement for a sinister six spinoff by having harry osborne walk by a bunch of display cases with stuff from iconic villains in them.
... but then again, bruce does like to display a lot of shit in his batcave, including his dead robin’s bloodstained costume, so.
5.5. bruce is so soft with jason it’s killing me. beyond just trying to learn from his mistakes with dick, it speaks to his own genuine desire to balance his dedication to gotham with doing the best by his sons, although he’s often not successful with that.
i love that titans is really playing the long game with bruce wayne, with each season and character-perspective sliding in fresh pieces of a bigger puzzle. titans’ bruce has always been a phantom of other peoples’ making, but now we’re getting the idea that he’s a whole lot more complicated than other people make it seem.
5.75. it really recontextualises some of his actions from previous seasons: the fact that he locked dick out of his security systems in 1.06 is likely his way of respecting dick’s independence and his desire not to be associated with batman/gotham anymore. jason knowing about bruce’s tracker while dick doesn’t is probably bruce trying to be more honest and upfront with his charges. bruce sending jason packing off to sanfran to spend time with the titans is probably not him passing on a big responsibility to dick (as i first uncharitably thought) but him trying to get jason out of the toxic influence of gotham for a while and a sign of his trust in dick as a leader and a mentor,
5.8. i mean, bruce is a prick, but he’s also human.
6. i think leslie is doing some good work with jason here, though she may have overstepped the line with her line about robin as a construct being projected by a man with BPD. her speculations about bruce’s diagnosis have no place in her session with jason, and if bruce confides in her, an egregious violation of patient-therapist confidentiality.
(about the diagnosis itself... i don’t know. i can’t really confirm or refute this without a whole lot more information, and i’m not sure if the writer of this episode means BPD in the same way an actual professional might.)
6.5. i think a huge thing that gets missed out in a lot of recent comics as well as movies/shows is that bruce didn’t create the robin persona out of whole cloth. dick did. he’s the starting point of that legacy and to call it entirely bruce’s creation is blatant erasure of that. in fact, i’m surprised that dick doesn’t feature more in the conversations they’re having about the pressures of being robin. after all, the guy had been robin--bruce’s partner--for such a long time before jason.
6.8. (and here’s the primal part of me that resonates the deepest with dick grayson--the Eldest Daughter part--that’s sort of resentful: that jason gets the therapy and softness and the learning from mistakes when it took years and years for bruce to reach out in any meaningful way to dick.)
7. oooh that was a great scene!
it’s fun to do these stream-of-consciousness live reactions, because the moment you step down from your soapbox, the episode goes right into tackling what you were just complaining about. bruce means well, he’s learning, but he goes about exactly the wrong way to help jason: taking away robin now can’t be read by jason as anything but a devastating judgment call from bruce. and iain glen really sells the moment that bruce realises this--too late--and his helplessness in trying to get jason to see that it isn’t jason’s fault that he’s trying to do this. he loves jason enough that jason is enough.
7.5. aaaah so jason brings up the elephant in the room at last. dick got everything makes sense from his perspective, where getting to put on a costume and fight crime means approval, means being something stronger and better than you are. dick got to be robin, then nightwing, and a leader of a whole team of other costume-clad heroes.
8. ... how did jason just walk into arkham????? this is ridiculous.
8.3. i mean, clearly jason’s not thinking straight, but betraying batman like this puts his possibilities of being robin again even further away.
8.5. watching that chemistry experiment montage was strangely funny. this guy is looking for an antidote to fear? well, constantly mixing up and inhaling gases concocted by a mad-scientist supervillain is something only the very fearless--reckless to the point of foolishness!--would do. what’s to say crane’s not given you a formula for a drug that will keep you tethered to his every will and whim? hmmmm?
8.7. so he sought out the joker to... test the formula???
9. wow the “loud and clear... boss” hits different after a whole episode of them referring to each other as father and son.
9.3. waitwaitwait HOLD UP. wait a DANG MINUTE. you’re telling me that scarecrow had enough resources that he could not only have folks on the outside steal jason away and dunk him in a lazarus pit (i TOLD you that this show would bring up and dismiss ra’s al ghul in a ten second aside! I TOLD YOU) but also have his own little chemistry lab in the basement, AND have enough resources for jason to build his red hood persona???????? all of this in barely twenty four hours?
well there goes my ‘jason orchestrated his death’ theory. it was nice while it lasted. *cups hands to the sky* fly away, my baby.
9.6. a part of me is gleeful at the rushed nature of such an iconic transformation though, especially when compared to all the character work that went before it. we’re so used to getting the opposite that it’s fucking delightful to have a show that’s more interested in exploring its characters’ minds rather than battle scenes or recreating transformations from the comics. that’s taken such bold and exciting steps to fully convey all the nuances of its most recognisable character, bruce wayne, from casting an older actor to play him to unflinchingly showing just how damaging the vigilante lifestyle has been to him and the people he loves. BRILLIANT
Tumblr media
*sporfle*
10. again, heads up: a whole lot of flashing lights between 40:28 and 42:00.
10.3. i guess it’s the super-compressed timeline that’s really throwing me off. where did he have the time to get/develop the mind control thing from? or is it something that he got from the cabal of villains that he intimidated at the beginning of 3.02? very messy.
10.5. i love molly, i hope she shows up again this season.
11. aaaand that’s it! that was a solid episode as flashback episodes go, but now i can’t wait to return to the present.

MY TOUGHTS ON PART TWO OF RED HOOD BY CHIP ZDARSKY :)
A DC BOOK THAT TASTES LIKE MARVEL.
You know when you are reading a book and you feel like the story you are reading seems familiar but not really within the context you are reading it at the moment? If you can’t shake the wrong sense of familiarity you search for what it probably the biggest give away, the author.
Here it’s something like that; I have read other pieces of Chip Zdarsky’s work, namely Daredevil. While I could tell you the familiarity is there, in the subject of guilt after taking the life of another person, the reality is that this book doesn’t taste like Daredevil, it tastes like Marvel.
That can be either an excellent thing (because Marvel has amazing books) or something terrible (because DC isn’t Marvel and they don’t work the same way).
As of now I can’t really tell if this Red Hood story is going to be one or the other, but I can tell you that it feels out of place in the DC universe, or at least that’s how I see it. I will explore this particular thought later, I just thought this was a nice way to open this post.
If you would like to read the first post I made about this book I will leave the link here!
Now…let’s begin.
Part two picks up exactly where part one left off, we see Jason calling Oracle so she can bring the police to the place where Jason killed Andy a.ka. that gigantic piece of shit.
Jason is having some thoughts, ones that I think are important.
“I have taken lives before, a lot of them. I have killed guys knowing nothing about them except that they had guns and murder in their hearts. Those ones are easy; I don’t have to think of their mothers getting the news or of kids being...”
Jason is troubled. He is now in front of a reality that he never truly thought about but to be honest with you I strongly believe that nobody in the DC universe thinks beyond what happens in front of them, that’s just how fictional comic worlds are designed.
Anyway, there is a little something that bothers me in this inner monologue of his, like since when have “murderers” been Jason’s actual target? Like Joker was his target but he didn’t kill him, the base of Jason’s morals when it comes to killing has always been drugs, most importantly if you sell drugs to kids. So unless he is saying “murderers” because they were selling drugs that caused people (especially kids) to overdose then I don’t really get what is going on.
Another thing that I also talked about in the first post is that Jason hasn’t killed in a very long time, this man has been sticking to the Bats rule for so long that it’s actually unreal. Even when he shot the penguin and Batman proceeded to almost beat Jason to death the penguin hadn’t died. So once again I am thinking that Zdarsky has some info that he is not sharing right now or maybe he just didn’t read Lobdell's run (in which case, can you really blame him?)
Now let me talk about the other part of his monologue “…I don’t have to think of their mothers getting the news or of kids being...” This is something that I haven’t seen in DC, direct consequences after a hero/vigilante does something, and let me tell you it feels out of place. Is it a good or bad thing? I don’t really know but I have some thoughts on the subject.
I think it's unfair to put a comic character in that situation or dilemma. Jason has basically three reactions to the same situation and they are all valid, but can this situation be handled by a fictional person in a fictional world? Because to be fair I could also ask about the criminals that are put in hospitals after they are beat up by heroes, what if they die in the hospital? Is the hero a killer or does it fall on the hospital? If a criminal cannot pay for the attention given to them in hospitals and they immediately go back to criminal activity to pay for those things, are heroes a good thing? If the Joker bombs a hospital for the third time in four months and Batman does the same thing (take joker to Arkham) only for Joker to escape and do it again, is Batman as guilty as the Joker for the deaths of innocent people or not?
As I wrote it and as I read it again I see that it is a crazy thought because you can simply add more depth to the characters decisions and the consequences that would ensue because of them, but Gotham is a fictional city created to establish that crime is off the charts and that they need Batman because no amount of resources will be able to fix this city’s problems. So putting Jason in this position is new to me…but only in DC (more of this particular thought below).
Going back to the comic in question, I feel like Jason had the answers and the ideas all in his head. In this issue alone he basically says that if the mother does not pull through the boy will be alone, but alone means going into the system (a horrible system that Jason does not trust and needs improvement), but also, Jason recognizes that if the mother died and the father was left alive then that man would have done horrendous stuff. I just simply wouldn't believe that a man that gave drugs to both his wife and son so they wouldn't bother him is just going to change after realizing that his wife died because of him. Even less believable is him becoming an amazing father.
In the big scheme of things, Jason has killed people who fitted very certain characteristics, never innocents (bye, Morrison). What happens after the killing is done? We don’t know because past stories have never focused on that (criminals in comics are by default one dimensional, villains are not)
But here is the thing, Zdarsky is a Marvel writer and Marvel has gone in depth within those situations (like what happens after heroes commit mistakes or kill someone) mostly with Civil War by Mark Millar and more recently in Daredevil written by Chip Zdarsky, but DC hasn't and DC has been plain for a long time, DC doesn't really explain how batman hurts people severely and nothing happens beyond that.
What I am trying to say is that Zdarsky is going for a different and unique route for Jason here but I think the story is out of place in the DC universe.
I promise I am done with those thoughts, they were really difficult to put on paper and to make them make sense, so I apologize if I only confused you, sorry!
Anyway! After the monologue is done we have a flashback where little Jason is being told by his mother to go buy bread (the only thing they can afford) but she is also making him leave so he doesn’t have to be present when Robby (a friend if you ask Jason’s mom, a drug dealer if you ask Jason) comes to the apartment to help her.
Sadly as Jason is leaving Robby is walking up the stairs, now not to copy little Jason but fuck Robby. Jason’s issues with drugs, drug dealing and overdosing is once again shown here but what is also shown is the violence that comes with it. Jason being terrified for himself (and his mother) as Robby pulls a knife on him broke my heart and as he is left there in the corridor to his apartment all we can see is a defeated little boy and that shit hurts a lot.
Tumblr media
After that we jump back to the future with none other than Batgod…I mean Batman. Batman is following a man called Sydney and apparently he disappointed Batman because B told him to stop being a criminal, like come on man if I ask nicely or if I break both of your arms you will surely stop, right? Yeah, no.
Tumblr media
I feel like I mentioned something about this while my brain decided that DC never usually explains what happens with criminals after they get caught or killed and now here we are. Consequences. Batman scares a man off of working for Scarecrow but the man still needs to work (does he have a family to provide for? We don’t know. Does he do it because it’s the only job he can get? We don’t know.)
This Batman intermission ends up with Oracle telling him that Jason might be in trouble.
So we find ourselves back with Jason and Tyler in his safe house, Zdarsky does not hesitate and first thing he does is give us a couple of very angsty panels.
Tumblr media
I love the way it hurts.
Jason honey, my sweet chonky boy…what are you doing?
Well at least I am not the only one asking that because Jason is having a moment to reflect about what has happened, what is happening and what could happen in the future. In this monologue he says the following:
“Dammit, Jason, what the hell are you doing? You can’t take care of this kid! But you can’t put him in the system either! Just waiting for some obsessed militaristic billionaire to adopt him? Dammit. His dad was scum, he hurt Tyler, he hurt his mom. But if Tyler’s mom doesn’t pull through…I just made this kid an orphan. He is my responsibility, he is too young to really see what he’s gone through, he can still be saved…unlike…”
Yeah that’s some really angsty thoughts, he is really going through it and I understand it. He lost his cool after what that horrible human being said he did and killed him and now he has to face the consequences of his actions, he recognizes that if the boy is left truly alone he will have to step up…but here is the thing, does Jason really want that? It seems to me like Jason is deeply against the idea of children working as heroes, and here he is as an adult that is a vigilante with an impressionable child that sees the Red Hood as his hero, I don’t know, it looks like the perfect recipe for a disaster.
But we don’t get to see what Jason does right away because its flashback time.
Jason only moved from his spot in the corridor of his apartment door to get the bread but as Robby comes out of said door Jason is there waiting. Robby teases that he and Jason’s mom ended up sharing the “medicine” and that she will be sleeping for a long time, and that seems to be it for Jason because next thing you know Robby is falling down the stairs.
Tumblr media
Aw, shit.
Jason from the future continues his monologue while he remembers what happened on those stairs.
“I never had a chance, not for one second. But he does, Tyler has a chance. I can help him, help him be okay. This doesn’t…what I did…what his parents did, it doesn’t have to define him.”
So Jason wants to make things right for Tyler so he doesn’t become like Jason. Now I don’t truly know what Zdarsky is going for but I will go for the unconscious route, little Jason pushed Robby (that fucker) down the stairs and he was left unconscious there.
In Jason’s eyes Tyler is still a good kid that deserves only the best (like you Jason, please don’t think so low about yourself) and that can be saved from a life of vengeance, justice and trauma. But whatever Jason was going to actually say to Tyler we don’t know because Tyler informs Jason that through the Red Hood mask there is someone telling him that Batman is coming.
Batman appears out of nowhere as he does and starts talking shit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honestly Batman what is with that “not my town” bullshit? Baby this isn’t the medieval times, you are not a king and as far as I know not only is Lucius Fox richer than you but so is Dick so sit your ass down and shut the fuck up.
Luckily Jason is giving the outstanding amount of zero fucks and tells Batman exactly what he needs to be told, sadly Jason’s big brain time doesn’t last long because he absolutely loses his cool and starts a fight. So you know what that means, monologue time!
“This was a mistake, but I can’t help myself, he gets under my skin. His sanctimony, he acts like he’s God, all knowing, all seeing when really…he’s just another failed parent.”
Amen. Jason knows many languages but he chose to speak facts.
As the monologue ends Batman is standing over Jason like he is about to murder him but no such thing happens because Tyler, who was quietly watching them fight, jumps in to protect Jason. Yep, there goes my heart, goodbye.
Tumblr media
And this is it. The issue ends with Tyler putting an end to the fight and telling batman that he has to leave the Red Hood alone because he is a good guy. Jason of course is thankful and promises that everything is fine.
I don’t know about you guys but so far I can’t say if I like the book or not. Both parts left me with mixed feelings. I obviously want to see how it ends but I honestly think that there is only one way this story can end with a happy ending, which I think it would be Tyler going back to his mom and Jason somehow working to help her with her drug addiction, maybe even have Dick involved so he can help them economically.
Things that I surely do not want to see are Jason backing down again and limiting himself to the Bats rules. I also absolutely don’t want Zdarsky to go all Geoff Johns on us and make Jason think that he should give up the Red Hood mantle.
Jason really needs to gain his confidence back, he was smart, calculated and strategic and now they have taken those things away to accentuate his “daddy issues” and “inferiority complex”. Why the quotation marks you ask? Oh, because those things are bullshit and there is no room for those things in Jason’s characterization other than to add more angst to the plot.
Let me know how you felt about the issue and my review! Are you excited about what the four next issues are going to bring to the story?
Also if you read Marvel, did this issue taste like Marvel to you too or am I going crazy?

Welcome to the Family
Here’s the second update as promised!  Only two more chapters left!
Tumblr media
Love Is a Burning Thing and It Makes a Fiery Ring pt.5
PRESENT DAY
Halley hadn’t felt this angry since the last time she saw her father. Her heart raced as she tried to bite her tongue but she found it becoming more and more difficult. She just didn’t care. She didn’t care about the saddened and pitied stare being sent her way by the family butler. She didn’t care about the bothered and protective look being blazed through her skull by Dick. And she as sure as hell didn’t care about a damn fucking word spiraling out of the biggest fraud of them all’s mouth.
“We don’t kill!” Bruce’s voice echoed off of the tall walls of the Batcave. His arms crossed against his chest, his eyebrows furrowed together as he narrowed his eyes down at the girl sitting down on a chair before him. His head pounded after concocting a story to Gordon about how he found the Joker in the state he was in; Halley had put him in a full body cast.
“Don’t talk down to me like I’m some child because I’m not! I was doing what should be done to that deranged psychopath!” She shouted back, tired of allowing him to berate her for the last twenty minutes. Her nostrils flared as she finally found her voice after days of staying silent.
“Then what? If I let you kill him then what Halley? You would be no better than him.” Bruce’s voice still was raised by not as harsh, trying to make the girl see reason. He sounded like he was trying to plead with her.
“How dare you?” She stood up from her chair, flaring her arms out. “Do you even hear yourself? Killing him would make me nothing like him!”
“But would it make you anything like you’re father?” Bruce raised an eyebrow at her, unamused or impressed by her outburst.
The girl had to see the consequences of her actions tonight. He needed her to see why they couldn’t just kill off whoever they deemed worthy off it. She needed to see how she’d regret her actions once she’s snapped out of her mourning. She was better than this. She was just too blinded by pain to see it now. Did he think the Joker deserved what the girl had intended for him? Of course he did. But he wouldn’t let the girl just throw her life away after all the good she’s done, after how she turned her life around.
This whole thing, losing Jason, it made him start thinking how foolish he was. Who did he think he was? What gave him the right to endanger these kids’ lives? He was no better than the Joker by doing so. He’d been denying her joining him on patrol ever since they arrived home, not just because he wanted her to have time to grief but because he knew it was the right thing to do. Her stunt with breaking the Joker out of Arkham only proved it. He would no longer play with these kids’ lives just so Batman could have a sidekick. Batman worked alone.
“Hey-,” Dick finally pipped up, feeling something snap as Bruce brought up Slade.
“No Dick, I’m her legal guardian. Not you.” Bruce silenced his former ward with a raised hand. “She needs to hear this after what she just pulled here tonight.” He continued moving his glare back to Halley.
“Yeah, Dick, I want to hear this.” Halley rolled her eyes, going to stand closer to Bruce as threatening as she could. She didn’t care if he towered over her, she wasn’t threatened by his stature.
“You left the manor without permission. You broke the Joker out of Arkham and then you tortured him. If I hadn’t shown up when I did you would’ve taken it too far.” Bruce spoke down to her, his voice cold as he listed off each item needed to be addressed; it was like he was talking to Jason after he almost took something too far on patrol. “You didn’t think about the consequences. I gave you a second chance when I took you in and I expect you to abide by my rules; my one rule.
“If you killed him I would’ve had to take you in for murder and you don’t see that. I can’t trust you to not try this stunt again.”           Bruce continued, backing away from her and moving towards the batcomputer.
He began typing into the keyboard, his actions unknown to the others but he knew exactly what he was doing; he was revoking her privileges to the Batcave. He knew she’d never forgive him for this; he knew Dick would never forgive him for this but it was the right thing to do. He could only hope she’d understand someday.
“Take off your suit and put it away, then go up to your room until I say you can come out. You’re done here.” He ordered, giving her one last order before hitting enter on the keyboard.
“Master Bruce-” Now even Alfred spoke up as Dick gasped out.
“Fine,” Halley spat, cutting off Alfred from trying to reason with Bruce. “Fuck this and fuck you!” She swore, pointing her index finger her way as she didn’t want to fight him if he was just going to act like a coward.  “Without you there’s nothing holding me back from actually going through with it this time. I am my father’s daughter after all, according to you.” She said heatedly as she began to tear off different pieces of armor from her costume and throwing them in her wake. She started to walk out of the cave as she did so.
“You go after him again and you’ll get the same treatment as the rest of them. This will be your first and final warning.” He said not even bothering to look at her no matter how much it hurt.
“Thanks for the warning,” she huffed, coming off like a child throwing a tantrum. “I’ll hold you too it Bruce! I can’t wait until I’m locked up and can tell everyone the real reason why Jason is dead!” she yelled, holding the same threatening tone Bruce had seconds ago.
She stormed out of the cave without looking back, her arms shaking in anger as she stomped up the stairs. She could hear footsteps quickly following after her. She didn’t have to look to know it was Dick. Of course it was Dick; it was always Dick who ran after her once she shouted and said something stupid. She was too angry and tired to listen to him. He was just going to yell at her like Bruce did and she wasn’t going to hear it again, especially from him. She knew she was being childish but she couldn’t find herself being able to act any other way.
“Please just talk to me. I want to help,” Dick begged, catching up to her and grabbing her arm to will her to stop once they reached the hallway outside of the library.
“Don’t touch me.” She ripped her arm away, turning to glare at him now.
“Let’s just talk.” He raised his hands up in defense. “I’m not mad about tonight. I get it. I’ve been there; when I found out Zucco killed my parents I wanted nothing more-,”
“I don’t want to have this talk.” She said firmly, moving to turn away again.
She began to head to her room, intending on locking herself in there, like Bruce told her to do, until she figured out what her next move was. She knew what she shouldn’t do but it was also part of her options of things she wanted to do. She knew it was foolish to go after the Joker. She knew she was out of her mind to break him out of Arkham. What if Bruce couldn’t bring him back after he subdued her and he got lose and killed more people? It would have been on her this time. But his blood on her hands felt so good even with him enjoying it. She enjoyed it too and was that wrong?
It was wrong, she knew it deep down but she wished it wasn’t. Bruce was right. Not that she’d be like the Joker if she went through with it but he was right in saying that it would make her like her father or at least what her father would want her to be. Anyone who crossed him ended up dead. And that’s exactly what she almost did.
Fuck, she cursed to herself, knowing that Bruce was right for firing her; she didn’t even trust herself being trained as she was to not try and kill the Joker if she saw him again in the mindset she was in.
“Sorry,” She said, halting her steps and giving Dick an honest apologetic look; he’d been nothing but there for her like usual and there she was taking her issues out on him, like usual. “I just- I just can’t right now. It’s been a long night and I need to think- to process what just happened- what I just did.”
“Okay.” Dick nodded at her, trying to be understanding. He placed a hand on her shoulder, seeing how the main parts of her costume were missing, leaving her in the spandex part of the suit. “Let’s just go to bed and we’ll talk in the morning.”
“I’m not staying here.” She narrowed her eyes at him, stopping her steps as they had started making their way towards the bedrooms again.
“Bruce said you couldn’t keep the suit. He didn’t kick you out of the manor-,”
“When he told you to take off the suit did you stay?” She retorted, placing a hand on her hip as she glared up at him. She knew she had him as he closed his mouth. “I- I was out of line down there and tonight. I don’t see me staying here being a good idea.” She put a hand to her head, letting out a long sigh. Running her fingers through her knotted hair, she said, “I’m not staying.”
“Don’t go after the Joker.” He rushed out, his thoughts rushing to think that that was where she intended on going. “Please, he’s serious. He’ll go after you and I- I can’t let you do it, please Halley-,”
“I’m not going after Joker. No matter how much I want too, I won’t. ” She cut him off, her headache now stronger than it was earlier. “I just-I can’t, Dick. Jason’s not here and I can’t get better with his room across from mine.” She admitted, knowing that she’d only stay up and stare at the door across the hall, bitterness and anger taking her over again.
Dick felt like he should but he couldn’t bring himself to feel an ounce of anger towards the girl. She had sent his mind haywire all day long, the moment he couldn’t find her in the manor and gotten word that someone broke Joker out of Arkham made his heart stop. He felt nothing but worry and fear. The Joker would toy with her the moment he got the chance and he was terrified that it would be like Jason again. He was still trying to process what the Joker had done to Jason, he couldn’t fathom having to go through it again immediately after.
This wasn’t going to end like it did years ago. When things got tough and he just dropped her off somewhere. He refused to just abandon her again. He was understanding in the fact that Bruce was still mourning the loss of Jason himself but his actions in the cave were uncalled for. Halley didn’t need to be pushed away to get better; she needed their patience. It was like Bruce wanted her to go after Joker again so he could lock her up. But Dick knew better after the years of living under the same roof as the man. This is what he did when he thought he was protecting you. He’d push you away until you left, as if that made anything better. Dick knew Bruce knew that Dick wouldn’t just let Halley go off on her own and chance Bruce having to take her down; he wanted them both to leave.
And that’s exactly what Bruce was going to get.
“Okay, we’ll leave. I’m not letting you leave alone.” Dick confirmed, nodding to her and leading her back down the hall. “We’ll get a hotel; it’s late but we’ll find something. We’ll figure out what to do in the morning after we sleep, deal?” He said sounding like the leader that he was.
“No, Dick I couldn’t ask you to. I’ve messed up enough today, I don’t want to drag you into it with Bruce.” She frowned, knowing that they had just started patching up their relationship again.
“Drop it.” He said firmly as they now stood outside her door. “Now, pack a bag for the night. We’ll come back for the rest once we figure out what we’re doing. I’ll meet you at my car in fifteen. Don’t make me come looking for you.”
Halley stood speechless, just nodding as a response. She’d only ever seen him this serious a handful of times and she feared him more than she feared Batman ironically. She was afraid to disappoint him more than she already had. She was afraid he’d regret helping her the way he did. He brought her here. He gave her a chance at a new life and here she was ruining it. This was what she was afraid of from the very beginning.
Dick saw the look on her face before he departed, giving her a reassuring squeeze on her shoulder before leaving her to pack. She found herself in her room, quickly grabbing her overnight bag that was still left unpacked from Bosnia. She quickly emptied it onto her bed and began throwing a couple of pairs of clothes and necessities. She’d gained a lot more possessions over the last two years and found herself trying to deem what was the most important. Shaking her head at the thought, she went back to making sure she had just the essentials as well as changing out of the rest of her suit.
Throwing the bag over her shoulders she exited the room without another look, knowing that she’s only get worked up again. As she closed the door behind her and unavoidably looked at Jason’s door. She couldn’t help herself but to go in, knowing she might not step inside it ever again. She looked around feeling the same emptiness she felt all week whenever stepping inside. She gripped the bag’s strap as she moved further into the room.
It was still the way he left it before leaving, Alfred not having the heart to clean up the clothes thrown about that were left in Jason’s mad dash to pack at the last minute. His school bag was still on his desks, homework and notebooks littering it from when Halley got on him to do it. She sat down on his bed, biting the inside of her cheek as her eyes looks at every spot she could. Her eye caught one of his sweaters laying at the foot of the bed and she found her hand slowly snaking towards it.
When the soft fabric reached her hands she found herself stuffing it into her pack without thinking. She found herself doing the same with other objects she came across as she stood from the bed and made her way about the room. She took a pair of his pjama’s, her favorite band tee of his that she always stole, along with his iPod and his copy of Lord of the Rings that he left in the room after his last reread. The last item she grab was his leather jacket he always wore, putting it on before making her way out of the room.
She felt odd and almost like she was stealing after walking out of the room but tried to push the thoughts aside. If anyone were to have his stuff Jason would want her to take it, she told herself as she crept through the hall. She was almost afraid Bruce would be lurking the halls, ready to pounce on her. She really did not want to bump into him so she quickened her step until she was eventually walking down the main stairwell. She could see Dick’s car’s headlights on through the glass of the door and rushed more. She regretted just leaving for Alfred’s sake, knowing that if she could find the courage she’d face him and bid him goodbye, but she had already grasped the doorknob before she could give it a second thought.
She winced to herself when she bit into her cheek to sharply, that familiar metallic taste appearing in her mouth once more. She felt some sort of relief at the sight of Dick waiting for her in his car which was running and ready to go. Throwing her bag in the backseat she wordlessly got in the passenger seat, wrapping her arms against her chest and snuggling into Jason’s jacket, frowning as it still smelt like him.
“Let’s get out of here,” Dick’s voice cut through the hum of the engine and music playing on the radio. Dick peeked at her, making sure she was okay as he noted Jason’s jacket.
The tall and looming manor started to fade as the long road began to come into view. Halley barely gave the manor a second glance, remembering how intimidating it felt on her first day here compare to how it looked now. It had become her home or so she thought. It wasn’t as hard leaving the manor as it had been back when she left the Tower to move here. Of course she’d miss Alfred but there was nothing left here for her; what made this place home was gone.
She let her head fall against the window as she looked out into the trees, unsure of how she was feeling. She felt like she had failed yet accomplished so much. She felt like she took a hundred steps forward and then ninety-nine steps back. Halley couldn’t help but think about what her father would think if he saw her now; what would he think about her tonight?
How disappointing, he would say in his cynical voice.
She closed her eyes at the sound of his voice appearing in her head. She tried to push it away as the smell of Jason’s jacket made her hum out, her head feeling heavy and the exhaustion hitting her, the adrenaline completely gone. Jason would want her to be okay. He wouldn’t want her driving herself mad over his death. She would be okay for him.

Frason AS Nygmobblebot
Tumblr media
Just Ed and Oz thing’s I think correlate rather nicely with Freddy and Jason. For fun.
Jason is Penguin because he’s arguably the most popular Slasher (Who doesn't look at a hockey mask now and think at some level about horror??), was close with his parents / mother (Pamela is a composition of Gertrude and Fish) and is pretty cute some most of the time. Also! Sex appeal doesnt work on either of them (Referring to Ivy's perfume not working on Oz)
And Freddy is Riddler because they’re both bastards who are extra and theatrical. And *cough* they both killed their first romantic partner. I think the same way, too??
As far as Oz being the more experienced killer, F13 did come out 4 years before ANOES, and strictly speaking, Jason was out of 'normal' society a looooong time before Freddy entered the dream realm. (Jason: 11 years old when he started living in the forest. In fact, Oz was so cute and timid in the first season that you could call him a 'Baby' penguin. Or 'child' penguin, like what Jason was // Freddy: 26-7 when he died. You could consider the time Freddy was secrely jilling kids in the basement akin to Ed's season two 'Villain Puberty')
Okay, on to fun stuff! XD
Penguins sassiness: Jason making the 'Talking' hand gesture at Freddy during an interview.
Olga / Roy (Maybe?) *About Jason's relationship with /towards Freddy*: "I dont understand why Jason likes him so much."
Jason befriends a ferral racoon and names it Freddy. (= Oz getting a doggo and calling it Edward)
Jason communicates that Freddy’s hat is stupid and Freddy gets overly defensive. “wHAT?!”
Penguins / Jason: *When Freddy gets far too close* (Then you know) You're standing too close. (*Or in Jasons language: Flinging Freddy across camp*)
Okay, the part in Gotham when Riddler loses his smarts and 'befriends' (Manipulates) Butch / Solomon Grundy into being his friend and protecting him so he doesnt get killed by criminals in the city because he knows that without his brains, he will be an easy target for people that already hate him and want him dead? In this version, Freddy (Who is stuck in the real world in a mortal form) manipulates Bubba, Jasons non-blood brother, the same way because he's big, 'dumb' and easy to control with some 'kindness' and a smile; Freddy uses Bubba for protection from other Horror Villains LIKE Jason who he antagonised when he was powerful, by telling him that they're friends. Does that make sense? XD Aha
At this time when Freddy is stuck in the real world, he he finds the perfect living for himself by starring an underground, illegal fight club with Bubba as his star fighter. Freddy often dresses up as Jason and mocks him.
Okay moving on completely from that.
Um?? Riddler / Freddy setting up a whole horrible delusion of Penguin / Jason’s parent coming back to life and tormenting him?? Sounds pretty familiar.
Jason actually believing he’s sane after all the electroshock therapy and stuff in Arkham (Or whatever our Horror Villain equivalent is. Hell?) like ‘Oh I am sane- I have a certificate!!’ and Freddy knows damn well his crazy ass is a pyschopath like ‘I’m... sane? Are you sure about that?’
Okay, Freddy actually thinking he suceeded in killing Jason finally, and then proceeding to have a hallucinatory bisexual panic because Jason’s gone and now he has no ‘worthy’ enemies.
(Alice can be Lucius!)
-jaSON GETS A LITTLE ADOPTED SON LIKE MARTIN. MAYBE BRAHMS??
Riddler! Making! Oz! The paper! Penguin! What I'm saying is mayyyybe Freddy can repair Jason's machete or something?
Some organisation like the Court of Owls (Maybe a group who are hell bent om destroying all Slashers) put a chip in Freddys brain so they can control him and have him do large-scale terrible things to other Slashers (Instead of the bit where the Riddler is made to bomb the hospital place) because who would believe that Freddy didnt do that on his own accord? He would.
Them working together to get out of Court Of Owls Jail / Hell (Like they were gonna in one of the proposed FVSJ 2 plots with Pinhead involved). They agree on an hour of grace period where they wont try and kill each other, so that they can successfully get out... but of course they both try to skip to the killing bit... multiple times.
Antagonizing each other like literal children in said Court Of Owls Jail / Hell.
Jerome is Michael- the third part of the 3 main Gotham / Horror villains who both Jason and Freddy are both, understandably, a bit concerned about and decide to work together to try and get rid of him.
(This picture: Swap their positions cuz Jason large and Freddy hands-on about things)
Tumblr media
(This picture: Jason / Penguin is of course the sort of more composed one when death comes from above and Freddy / Riddler is prepared to push Jason in front of him like a human shield)
Tumblr media
Finding out Barbara / Tiffany (Dont have amothe colour for her unfortunately) is having a baby:
Jason: *Signing* So who's the lucky father??
Freddy: *Silence, thinking: Oh Jesus fucking christ a child*
Jason being around Michael much more then Freddy ever has (In fandom).
This picture: Swap the expressions / Reactions. Jason is panicked, slughtly concerned and terrified and Freddy is disgusted / horrified by Tiffany going into labor.
Tumblr media
Omg XD Penguin having Victor freeze Riddler and keeping him in the Ice Lounge: Jason maybe keeping Freddy's head at the end of FVSJ (If you are to assume Jason won that and that Freddy is now just some kinda conscious zombie head now) and using it as like, an annoying paperweight or audible decoration. Out of pure spite. We know Jason has it in him- he might not be as mischievious as Michael is, but he's absolutely got it in him.

Bio! Dad Strange part 3
Marinette, she had no idea how this happened, she swore, somehow got lost in gotham during an Arkham jailbreak. All she knew was one minute she was talking to Uncle Ed and then the next there was explosions and then she was... wherever she was.
Apparently Two-Face recognized her on the streets and grabbed her... only she didnt know him.
Her response was to flip him over her tiny shoulder and flee with a vengence. Guess which member of the batfam saw?
If you guessed Tim before he became a Robin because Dick was still Robin—albeit in charge of the Titans and not in Gotham at the time.
Tim did the reasonable thing and somehow convinced the freaked out french girl to go into a cafe while they called her parents.
Two-Face, convinced that tiny Tim kidnapped tiny Marinette and somehow his family would hurt tiny Marinette. Which given that she has how many Rogues around her little finger—Strange, Joker, Quinn, Ivy, Riddler, Penguin AND Zsasz. He did a coin flip to see if he should save her from being in the public eye and possibly expose her family. The coin was in favor of keeping Marinette from being on the news with pictures.
Two-Face decided it was safer to kidnap her from said public place and bring her to Ivy and Harley.
So he grabbed mutliple machine guns, raided the cafe and threw tiny Marinette over his shoulder and sent out shots at abyone that tried to get near them. He wasnt dying becuase of this kid, ok?
Of course said kid is super-powered, terrified, and did i mention its sunny out so her treatments are wearing out faster? No, well they are. This means everything is much scarier and louder and overwhelming that bwing thrown over a stranger that shot at people should be in any situation.
Tiny Tim is very scared for her. He finds Batman and alerts him to the tiny foreigner’s kidnapping—nearly getting killed by Mr. Freeze in the process to boot.
Batman is angry for many reasons, manages to take down Mr. Freeze and tells Gordon to be on alert for Two-Face who kidnapped a tiny french girl.
Only it gets worse.
Superman saw what was going on in Gotham and went to help out—his freind was dealing with a mass prison break of very dangerous criminals, why wouldnt he help?
And on hearing a tiny kid that freaked out in french was in danger? Well, what was he supposed to do Bruce? Ignore her?
He sent Conner after her while he helped out with a number of distrubed individuals, including a pyromaniac (firefly).
Conner manages to track down the pair on his own and almost loses it when he sees tiny Marinette kick Two-Face hard enough he falls down and the girl bolts a lot faster than a normal kid should. He comms in that the girl is a scared foriegn meta, and requests backup.
Kidflash is the one who answers, and takes care of Twoface while Conner tries to track down a terrifed tiny meta that screams in french.
Conner sees her running to a greenhouse and follows her in. Especially as the tiny girl jumped a lot higher than she should and it felt too familiar for comfort.
He manages to sneak in, followed by Kidflash, and they have an ‘oh shit’ moment when they see the scared girl run to a younger Poison Ivy with brown hair, crying. This teen holding a crying child is Rose.
Rose is visibly pissed. “Do you want me to kill him? J called dibs on his brother this time and Harley’s aiming for Tetch after last week.”
Tiny marinette shakes her head and delivers the best line for the young justice members, but worst for a baby Rogue.
“I dont want him to die, i just want him to stop hurting people.”
*remember, she is Jill in Gotham.
“Jilly bean, the world isnt nice. If it was, then batsy wouldnt have dropped me onto an ecoterrorist when i was a week old, and i would be allowed to leave the greenhouse. You wouldnt need to have nearly as many aliases as you do. You can try to make it nice in a lot of ways. I’m happy to handle extermination sicne thats the only thing i have shot at besides the rkc.”
Tiny marinette is frowning. “But then the world wins. I want to beat the world, not lose by being like it.”
Conner is (understandably) confused. Kidflash is processing that oh fuck. This is a meta raised by villians. And another meta raised by villians and goddamnit batman, why did you give a villian a baby? (He didnt. He gave ivy a ten year old. He thought she was her kid and she was raising her or something.)
Tiny Marinette is not happy with Rose’s conclusions.
“Can we call Ghoul and Frost? Maybe they can help with their dads?”
“And why not Puzzles?”
“He has asthma and he cant dodge.”
Rose considers for a moment before nodding. She grabs a plant and talks into it. “Ghoul, Frost, i need you at HQ. Someone has to reign in our dumbass parents. Bring the nuetralizers and tranqs.”
A voice came from another flower. “Should we have zsasz come with?”
“No! He’ll switch sides again!” Marinette yelled.
“Oh. Nets, what the hell are you doing at HQ?”
“Two-Face stole me. I ran.”
“Well, Fuck. Be there in five. Uh, how are your treatments holding?”
“She’s getting lighter. Might want to break out the rocks again.”
“Double fuck. Ill force Frost out of lab. Be there in a few—any crews to aviod or...”
“If they have a green arm band dont give them the fear toxin fixes, and Jerimah’s cult is back,” Marinette added.
“Fuck me up why dont you Gotham!” Ghoul cursed.
“Hey, she’s a kid!” Rose snapped
“Im older than you though!” Marientte chirped.
Conner had a lot to process with this information. Kidflash put together that they were applarently going to try to help the gothamites rather than the rogues, and decided they should leave and focus on helping the others.
Given that Marinette didnt catch the pair (she was still trying to focus on near things) she doesnt know that anyone but Batman and maybe Batgirl is fighting.
So she doesnt hide her abilities, flying at low levels to aviod Batman’s attention. But Kidflash and Batman see her and have a Moment of ‘which of us is telling Superman he might have another clone?’
Marinette, oblivious to this, is seen beside Jason Todd giving people Fear Toxin Antidote and Joker Gas Nuetralizer. Marinette is getting and distributing the antidotes. Jason Todd is making sure she doesnt die by wielding his baseball bat and riding his bike while she flies.
The day ends with most going back to Arkham and Marinette and Jason hiding from heroes for obvious reasons—including a teen and small child ignoring evacuation orders and avoiding GCPS.
Batman is aware of Marinette’s existence as “Jill” and “Nets” and that she helps a group of Rogue’s children that are content to undercut their parents crime. And now he knows Rose is either mcuh younger than he thought when he gave her (he thought brought her back home to) Poison Ivy. And is feeling guiltyTM
If you thought he was having a case of Serial Adopter Bruce Wayne, you are correct. He is now actively looking for these kids and where they are hiding since they moved post-breakout.
Zsasz is only slightly disappointed that Marinette didnt kill Two-Face. Jerome thinks its great and somehow convinces him to apoligize to her by offering to make up a number of contracts between rogues and the gotham underground in general to make things more organized so she and other rogue kids have a safe way of handling situations like that in the future.
Why dies JEROME of all people think this up and not Eddy or Riddler? The answer is he stole the idea from them, gave them no credit, and yes, is doing this as an attempt to score a few extra of marinette’s cookies. He has no shame in this, and riddler hates sweets so he isnt mad. Ed is too busy teaching Marinette Science to realize what happened until long after it did.
This puts Marinette and the RKC in a very odd position. Not only is The Batman trying to find them now, but they have to handle the Rogues trying to baby them. Ghoul and Frost are almost an adults, most people think Rose is almost an adult when irl she’s 5, and yes, Marinette is very much now Gotham Underground’s Princess as the Council is basically set up to ensure her safety.
Marinette knows none of this, as she is small child that just wants to cuddle her stuffed kitty Chaton and sleep on her Father (Strange) while he finishes up in his lab. She does this.
Mr. Freeze and Scarecrow got pictures. They use these to insert themselves in the Teach the Kids Science and Dangerous ThingsTM.
At one point marientte learns how to diassemble a bomb, reassemble one, and diffuse various bombs.
Riddler starts to use bombs more when she’s around to help her practice. Batman is confused as that is Not his usual M.O. Robin/ Dick gets called in and thigns get messy for the Batfam dynamics (he saw the research on the RKC and is pissed that He Was Right! Ivy Didnt Have Rose! and then saw plans for new batkids and reacted BadlyTM due to Teen AngstTM).
The summer ends with Batman having a bad fallout with Robin, Marinette thinking No One knows she’s kyptonian. When Conner suspects, Batman and Kidflash put two and two together, and no one has told Superman yet because um. Well.
They need the girl as proof and would rather not send Clark into another spiral about havig kids he wasnt aware of, ok? He just got decent with Conner. No need to rock the boat, right? (Wrong)

Well... That Was Unexpected (Teaser)
Thanksgiving. It didn’t seem like much, but since Jason had made amends with the family, it had become the single most important holiday of the year. Spending time at the manor and eating a home cooked meal that Steph and Alfred would likely spend hours working on the day before and the day after was a requirement. Or maybe they’d just cater it this year… He thought he’d heard something about that.
The only problem Jason foresaw with the upcoming event was that he was without a date. The year prior only Tim had a date in Steph. Bruce, Dick, Alfred, and Barbara were all single. Unfortunately for him, Barbara and Roy were dating, Bruce insisted that Selina show up, Alfred and Dr. Thompkins were an item and Dick was officially official with Kori again. Hell, even Damian was “dating” some girl from school and of course all of them would be at the dinner.
He scrolled through his contact list and sighed. He did not want to be the only solo act in the manor. It was hard enough being the undead Robin. Harder being the only one who’d been an enemy to his family at one point. The one who’d nearly killed some of them… He shook off the thought.
He was over the past. So was his family. He just didn’t want to be reminded of yet another way he didn’t fit in. He had to find someone, anyone to date. But who?
With a sigh he pocketed his phone and walked into the diner. He needed to get his head in the game. Some asshat was running around casting spells and causing all sorts of havoc. He’d gotten an alert from Deathstroke earlier that morning asking that they meet up. Apparently, the magician was one of the assassin’s contracts.
He really, really didn’t want to be bait. Magicians, wizards, witches? They all sucked. He couldn’t count the number of times he’d been royally screwed playing bait for a magician. He’d been turned into animals, de-aged, shrunk, aged, and once he’d even been turned into a freaking action figure. Yeah, magic wasn’t anything he liked messing with.
Still, if Deathstroke asked, he would do it. Mostly because he owed the cyclops a massive favor. Nextly, because he actually liked working with him. If Dick had half the brain he claimed to have, he would have watched, listened and learned. He would have come out of the engagements stronger, smarter, and more capable.
Jason was seated in the back of the restaurant in a corner booth, his back to the wall so that he could see the men and women coming inside. He ordered himself a coffee, black. Ever since he’d watched Dick dump diabetes type 2 inducing amounts of sugar in his, Jason had avoided the sweet substance. He didn’t even let people put fake sweeteners in his caffeine.
His eyes glanced upward as a few people came into the restaurant. A few guys and a girl. He looked back down at his coffee and took a sip as a very attractive man approached him. He was taller than most with blonde hair and the brightest blue eyes he’d seen in a long time. His shaggy blond hair and grimace did look a touch familiar but it was the way the man moved that really caught Jason’s attention. He approached with purpose and took a seat at his booth.
“Uh, beach is that way, dude,” he snarked as he pointed toward the coast.
“Shut up, Jason,” the man hissed.
He blinked in surprise as he scowled at the blond before him. “Who…?” He shook his head as he looked over the stranger. Blond hair, like platinum blond hair. The guy had stood at least six foot four and he was built like a fucking terminator, or rather, built like The Terminator. “Holy shit!”
“Took care of a witch a few days ago,” he snapped. “Seems he had a few allies that took offense.”
Jason couldn’t do anything but stare at the man. Did Slade realize how gorgeous he was? Truth be told he’d always had a crush on the older man, but he’d seemed untouchable before. Now, all Jason wanted to do was touch. He tried to refocus on the conversation, but it was difficult.
“What’s your problem?” Slade snapped at him.
“Nothing,” he answered immediately. “Just a little taken back, that’s all.”
Slade sneered. “Yeah, that’s why I need your help.”
“Gotta kiss a real boy to turn back into an old frog?” He couldn’t help but tease the old man.
Those sky-blue eyes rolled as Jason was grabbed roughly by the collar. The speed and the skill warned that despite being a good two or three decades younger than he should be and forced to see out of two eyes, Slade was still very much a dangerous man who didn’t always appreciate the lip.
“Your fairy tales are crossed,” Slade growled low. “I don’t know what the fuck I need, but I do believe the spell will resolve itself eventually.”
As soon as Jason was released, he nodded. “How soon?”
“Couple weeks at least, couple months at the most.” Slade frowned.
“So… What did you need me for?”
“I need to lie low,” he answered quietly. “You’re one of the few capes that owes me a favor and one that won’t drag me to Arkham or Blackgate.”
Jason nodded, but then paused. Wait, did that mean? “Slade,” he whispered as he leaned forward to make sure no one else could hear. “Are your enhancements… you know?”
“Gone?” Slade huffed. It would have been funny if it wasn’t so terrifying. “It’s not something I’m willing to explain.”
“But it leaves you vulnerable,” he reasoned and when he saw the glare added quickly; “Or well, as vulnerable as someone like you can be.”
Slade nodded. “You gonna help me or not?”
He leaned back and nodded. “I’ve got a few places you can hide out, not all of them are dumps,” he explained softly. He noticed a few women were staring at Slade as they passed by, especially the waitress who looked like she was trying to hype herself up. “Do you see the effect you are having on people?”
To Jason’s further surprise, Slade blushed! Like actually blushed. His cheeks turned red and he didn’t even scowl or growl at Jason. Yeah, he was a master of self-control with his enhancements, but it seemed he didn’t have the molecular level of control over his body at the moment.  He wondered if Slade was even aware of the way his cheeks turned red.
He was about to ask when the waitress finally sidled over. “Anything I can get you, handsome?” She grinned.
Slade jaw ticked as his fists clenched on the table. “He’ll have coffee, black and a Denver omelet. I’ll have the biscuits and gravy.”
The woman pouted a little, but made off to get their order put in. “Thanks,” Slade grumbled.
“This is really throwing you off your game, isn’t it?” Jason didn’t smile. He absolutely bit back the temptation to continue pestering the man about his predicament and be an adult about it.
Slade didn’t answer, obviously working on trying to control himself. Whatever he tried; it didn’t work. If looks could kill, Jason would be a dead man. The narrowed eyes, the unholy sneer on his lips? It was intense and not something Slade had been prone to in the past unless he wanted to strike fear into the hearts of any surrounding him.
“Jason,” Slade started, but was interrupted by the shout of another.
“Jay!”
Slade turned and Jason looked toward the front where Dick and his partner Devon Peterson had just entered. His brother was all smiles as he and the other cop approached them. He looked down at Slade and Jason almost wondered if Slade’s non-existent cover had already been blown. To be fair, Dick had the most familiarity with the assassin. They’d been enemies, reluctant allies, and had briefly shared a partnership in which Slade had tried to be something of a mentor.
If anyone had known what Slade looked like as a young man, Dick would make the most sense.
“Who is this?” Dick smiled as he looked down at the younger version of his former antagonist.
Slade looked like he was going to tease Dick as he was so used to doing, so Jason kicked him beneath the table. “Hey Dick, this is,” he glanced at Slade to be sure there would be no retaliation and to try and think. “This is uh… Well, he’s…” Shit. Maybe he should have allowed Slade to speak.
The only problem was that Jason had never trusted Devon. He’d been Dick’s partner for a year and seemed shifty as fuck. He frowned and looked to Slade, trying to impress upon him the knowledge or paranoia he had about the other cop. Not that Slade was a fan of cops anyhow. They usually made his life a touch more difficult than necessary.
“Fuck, you know what,” he stalled as he formed a really half-assed plan. “This is my boyfriend.”
Devon’s eyes widened in surprise. “You’re gay?”
“Wow, Jay, really?” Dick smiled. “How long?”
“C-couple of months. I just… you know how I am with relationships… I didn’t want to say anything until I was sure. You know what vultures the media can be.”
Dick nodded; the poor guy knew better than most, he really did. Jason almost felt bad for the oldest of Bruce’s kids. He’d been under a microscope the moment he turned eighteen. Tabloids ran a story on anyone they thought he might be dating and definitely anytime he’d broken up with them. Hell, there’d even been an article devoted to all of Dick’s one-nightstands a few months back.
“You gonna introduce me to your boyfriend?” Dick smiled, he and his partner still standing beside their table. Devon looked bored and a little irritated, but Dick was practically glowing.
“This is… Lance,” He almost cringed but frowned when he saw the furious expression on Slade’s face.
He couldn’t help it though. Slade looked like some kind of New Kid on the Backstreet or something. He was absolutely gorgeous and the first name that popped into his head was Lance. He was so fucking dead. Slade Wilson, who already had a porn star’s name, was now Lance.
“Hi, Lance, I’m Jason’s brother, Dick,” he offered his hand to Slade.
Lance hid the rage from his eyes as he looked up at and took the offered hand. “That’s not my name. Your asshole brother just insists on calling me that because he thinks I look like a boyband loser,” Slade sneered. “My name is Liam, Liam Kelly.”
Dick laughed and nodded. “Yeah, Jason’s always been a bit of an ass,” he nudged Jason’s shoulder as he spoke. “Well, we’re just grabbing our breakfast to go, but it was a pleasure meeting you, Liam. I hope we see you at dinner this Sunday.”
“I doubt I’ll be in town,” Slade started.
“He’ll be there,” Jason insisted. “Now get outta here before your partner strangles you or something.”
Devon rolled his eyes before turning from them and walked back to the front of the diner without Dick. Jason really, really hated the guy. He wondered how corrupt the officer was. If he was just an asshole or if he was dirty, or maybe even a mole for someone.
“Sounds great!” Dick grinned to Liam. “Catch you later, Jay!”
As soon as he was out of range, Slade had him by the collar again. “What the Hell do you think you’re doing, Jason?”
“Protecting you and doing myself a favor at the same time,” Jason explained. “Look, the family is always on me about not taking anything seriously. If they think I have a real boyfriend instead of some throwaway lover, they’ll stay off my ass for a bit. You dump me in front of them, like at Thanksgiving dinner at the end of the month? Dude, they’ll leave me alone for the rest of the season at the very least!”
“So, this will be your payment for allowing me to lie low? Putting my new persona in danger just so that you can have a date to some holiday functions coming up over the next four weeks?” Slade definitely looked against it. Still, Jason could only nod. “Fine, but you embarrass me or fuck me over in any way, and I swear I’ll gut you.”
