Get ready to hit the road. The world of old friends and new friends collide when Bonnie’s family take a road trip. The opening scenes — that flashback, the rescue, the goodbye — oh ma heart! Bonnie’s role assignments were as humorous as the toys reactions to them. Forkie’s origin (like he’s trash, literally caming out of a garbage can), the details included in him (the googly eyes, the pipe cleaner arms and all their tiny minute movements.) and all his escape attempts, were amusing. Gabby-Gabby and her ventriloquest doll bodyguards/assistant guys were chilling - and again their details (Gabby-Gabby’s eyes, the lolling of the Ventriloquest doll’s heads and limbs) were all done so well (even the skunk vehicle and Bo Peep’s tools, accessories, and outfits, all so detailed and well done.) Seeing all the toys stuck in the RV work together was interesting and the rescue/stealth mission in the resale shop - not to mention the history/hierarchy of the items within that Bo Peep sort of explains. Josh Cooley - Toy Story 4 (2019) The latest, and seemingly last, installment in the Toy Story series, bring us another congenial, fun time with a cast of characters that you've learned to love over the decades that the series has taken place. It seems to wrap up the series in a pretty satisfying way, although of course there is space there for a continuation, although it would be a perfectly unnecessary one. This being said, it isn't, by far, the best in the series. My favorite is still the third one, which made me cry like a baby in a couple of points. This one just got me teary eyed at the end there. Yes, that is how I judge my films, unless I ain't an emotional wreck at the end of them, they aren't any good. A lot of the story beats here are pretty familiar, you get toys lost trying to fulfill some kind of mission, they meet new toys and in this case get reunited with some old friends which weren't around last time. The animation is the best looking it's ever been, which is only natural due to the advancements in CGI, but it does often feel like more of the same stuff. Still there's plenty of fun to be had, and if you liked the previous films it's great to see the series wrap up in a way that is emotionally satisfying. Woody (Tom Hanks) and the other toys have settled in well to life as Bonnie’s toys. Woody feels that his main purpose in the world is to take care of his kid. But he’s about to have a new challenge thrust upon him. The creative young Bonnie has forged a new ‘toy’ named Forky (Tony Hale) out of a spork, a pipe cleaner, and stick-on eyes. This new addition to the gang is reluctant to accept life as a toy, so it’s up to Woody, Buzz (Tim Allen), and the gang to convince him otherwise. Complications arise, though, when Forky decides he’s had enough, and escapes while Bonnie and her toys are on a road trip. But Woody has other ideas, and heroically chases after the troubled toy. Now detached from the group, though, the pair are well and truly lost. With the help of old friends and new, though, there are lessons to be learnt for both Woody and Sporky, as they figure out where they truly need to be.
