Chapter One
"And… there! Broadcasting the video to every TV in their lil' party tent over there! Ha! If that ain't damnin' evidence then my name's not Alec—"
"Hardison!" growled Eliot, irritation having finally broken the dam of his self-control. Here he was, still on the side of a freakin' mountain, and he was tired, slightly lightheaded and freezing in every single place that should never be this freezing.
"So…" said Parker, coming up beside Eliot where he'd stopped walking, snow drifting into her face. The snow had picked up significantly as they began their descent. She squinted against it and raised a gloved hand to swat it away. "We did it? We stole a mountain?"
Eliot suppressed a sigh. "We didn't steal a—"
"Hell yeah we did, mama!"
Dammit, Hardison.
"All right," Eliot cut in. "We're still on our way down. Shouldn't be too long." Eliot put his mask back on, giving a nod to Parker to let her know he was going to start walking again. "No more mountain jobs. Hear me, Nate? I've got snow everywhere I shouldn't have snow."
"We've got hot chocolate waiting," came Sophie's soothing voice, and normally Eliot would have scoffed at the childish drink but at this point he'd even ask for some whipped cream on the damn thing.
"Are we there yet?" asked Parker, and Eliot heard her mostly through the comms. He also heard a slight chatter from her teeth. It gave him pause to even hear her complain; she hadn't said a word the entire way up the mountain or even this far down about the temperature. And Parker wasn't normally one to complain.
"Not yet, darlin," he said to her quietly. "Soon."
Eliot had a vague idea of where they were on the mountain, but without Hardison giving him directions every few minutes he'd most likely have already been lost. His sense of direction was much better when the temperature was above zero degrees fahrenheit.
"You'll make it down in about forty minutes, at the pace you're goin'," came Hardison's voice. Eliot nearly groaned. His mind crawled back to Sophie's hot cocoa.
It was another ten minutes of trudging through the snow after that that Eliot sensed something was wrong. It was deep inside his chest, some primal instinct that sent a chill like an electric current through his body. He froze.
Not a few seconds later, something slammed into his back. Eliot stumbled as Parker walked into him, but he recovered quickly and caught her arm to steady her. He stared out into the distance, up the mountain.
Something was wrong.
"What's wrong, Sparky?" asked Parker.
Eliot didn't reply. He just kept staring, that feeling nagging at him. He didn't exactly know what was wrong. Just that something was.
"Hardison," said Eliot then. "What's your radar sayin'?"
A pause, followed by typing. "Hmm. Nothin' new, man. Just a little wind. Why?"
Wind.
Eliot's eyes widened. He grabbed Parker by the arm again and yanked her with him, gunning it down the mountain. The snow, at least three feet deep, made them impeccably slow but he fought it, never releasing Parker.
"What—?"
"Dude, what are you-"
"Eliot," said Nate's voice suddenly. "You don't think it's—"
"An avalanche," said Eliot through gritted teeth. Even as he said it, the ground beneath them started to shake. He thought the wind had picked up earlier but was too cold to put two and two together. He risked a glance back and nearly blanched at what he saw. Because he—Eliot Spencer—had seen a lot in his life. A lot. And he'd been terrified before.
But nothing quite surpassed seeing a tidal wave of heavy snow on his tail, blocking out the sun.
"Don't turn around, Parker!" he ordered, whipping around and nearly wishing he hadn't himself.
"Wh-what—?" she stammered, her other hand grasping his arm.
"Is that rope secured on you?" he yelled through panting breaths, checking his own to make sure it was tight and secure.
"Y-yeah," she breathed.
The roar of the snow was deafening now.
"Oh, my god—" exclaimed Hardison. The sound of a chair being knocked backward. "Eliot—Parker—RUN!"
"What—do ya think we're—doin', man?!" growled Eliot.
"God, Nate…" Sophie breathed.
Nate had gone deathly silent.
Eliot steeled himself and turned around again.
The snow was thirty feet behind them and gaining. "Shit!" he exclaimed, pushing himself to run faster.
"Eliot—" Parker's voice was half between a gasp and a sob.
He tightened his grip on her and spoke fast. "Parker—hold onto me as hard as you can. If—if you let go, the rope should..." He swallowed, hoping against hope the rope wouldn't snap. "The rope will keep us together. That snow is going to bury us." Those words hit heavily, even to him. "Get out of the snow, don't—don't you look for me. Get out first! Okay?" he shouted, already feeling the snow pelting his back.
"But—"
"Promise me, Parker!"
"I prom—"
The words were snatched from her as the wall—the tidal wave—struck them both. The last thing Eliot remembered was grabbing Parker and holding the thief to his chest as tightly as he could. Then flying, then falling, then…
Nothing.

Awake {Bonkai Fanfic}
Alright! I finished the BK Preview, it’s below the cut. NSFW obviously, I don’t think I have a single BK fic that isn’t NSFW. I could make this a two-parter or leave it honestly.

Awake
The rest of this fic was inspired by this Olake moment in Scandal

Bonnie Bennett sat on the sofa with her feet up, nursing her second glass of wine, as Mark cleared the coffee table of their plates.
“You really should let me help,” she said.
“No, no, no,” he insisted. “This was my anniversary gift to you, that means I do the clean-up.”
Bonnie smiled and beckoned him toward her, kissing him gently on the lips with the promise of something more.
“Mm,” he moaned. “I better get these done quickly.”
“Yes,” said Bonnie. “Or I might start with you.”
The knowing quirk of her eyebrow almost made Mark trip as he walked toward the kitchen, a bit of a hurry in his step. Bonnie chuckled lightly to herself and took another sip of wine, looking around at the living room. It was a mix-and-match of her belongings and Mark’s. They had only been living together for a couple of months and they still hadn’t struck a balance between their two aesthetics to make their house look more cohesive.
Bonnie sighed deeply. For the first time in a long time, she felt settled. Maybe even content. Whatever she felt, she didn’t think she’d be able to feel it again after Enzo. It had taken a few years and a lot of distance between herself and Mystic Falls to get to this place. Limited communication with Damon and Elena, with Alaric and Caroline; they only served to remind her all that she lost and keeping in regular contact with them would only eventually lead to more sacrifice on her part. She’d learned that lesson many times.
She’d met Mark during her travels around the world – in Istanbul, specifically. They were both lost in the city and it turned out they were trying to get to the same place. They spent all their time in the city together after that. Both of them were traveling though they were going to different places --- he backpacked while she enjoyed the best hotels each city could offer. They kept each other up to date on the various adventures they went on in various countries. Once they both made it back to the States, they decided to meet up, then they decided to date, then, three years later, they decided to move in together.
Bonnie laughed at hearing him whistle in the kitchen. He was a good man. Simple. He liked simple things. She opened her mouth to ask him how long he planned on taking, to tease him since history proved she didn’t need to be in the same room as him to seduce him, but a draught blew through the window and stilled her tongue. The breeze was a caress on her shoulders --- her legs erupted into goosebumps, a chill seeped through to her bones and left her breathless.
She had to go outside.
“Babe,” she called, putting down the glass. “I’ll be back in a sec.”
“Everything OK?” Mark called back from the kitchen.
Bonnie stood up. “Yeah, I just have to go outside.”
           “Why?”
Fucking hell, because! Bonnie’s swift and violent onset of impatience and irritation made her pause. There was no reason for such an aggressive reaction, even if silent, and its randomness both scared her and compelled her to see why she felt the need to go outside.
“Hun?” said Mark.
“Sorry, I just um – I think I forgot my shawl in the yard,” she said, walking to the front door.
Why was she lying to him?
           “I can get---”
“No, no! I want some fresh air anyway.”
Bonnie opened the door and walked out of the bungalow, onto the lawn. Her eyes quickly swept the street dozens of times, looking for anything out of the ordinary; but nothing about her sleepy residential neighbourhood looked out of place.
She shook her head and laughed. She must’ve imagined it or had more wine than she originally thought, a breeze was only ever a breeze, there was nothing ---
And then she felt it.
She looked to her right and a bearded man appeared, almost as if he materialized from shadows.
“Bonnie Bennett, as I live and breathe.”
Bonnie’s lips parted, she felt something inside of herself, a fire on her skin, a fire in her belly, a hatred and a - a - ferocity, a danger --- maybe even a longing? --- that felt awfully, terribly familiar and yet she didn’t recognize the man in front of her, didn’t recognize his knowing gaze or smug smirk, nothing about him registered in her mind but she felt compelled to hate him, even though she could feel that hatred met something different to them.
Finally, she spoke. She was going to say, “Do I know you?” but what came out was, “I don’t know who you are but I know you have ten seconds to get off my property.”
The man smiled at that. “Ah, I shouldn’t take it personally,” he said. “Malivore and all.”
That caught Bonnie’s attention. Malivore, whatever it was, was supernatural. Nope. Not today. She’d been done with the supernatural for years.
“I don’t know what witch business—”
“Oh no, no, no,” said the man, walking up to her, his eyebrows furrowed. The closer he came to her, the harder Bonnie’s heart started to pound. She had the irrational fear that he could hear it and she willed herself to not be so agitated, so bothered, so … hot. It was like her internal temperature rose.
“You think I came here for witch business?” His voice got soft. Dangerous. “I gave up something I’ve wanted to do for a long time to come here. To you.”
Bonnie didn’t know how she knew but she felt it in her bones that what he’d given up was some kind of evil. It infuriated her, which only served to inflame her more. What was this? Something she shouldn’t indulge, shouldn’t unleash. She should walk away. She should go back in the house, back to Mark, she’d been so content inside. Better yet, she should eviscerate him, this man she didn’t know, this man she wanted to kill and consume all at once.
“So, you know me?” she asked.
“You know, I know you.” He got closer to her. Only a few feet away now. “All these years and you can’t escape it.” He grinned, smug. Triumphant. “You don’t even know who I am and you can’t escape it.”
Oh, she hated him.
“You get any closer to me and I will hurt you,” said Bonnie through gritted teeth.
“Is that a promise?” He took another step. Bonnie swallowed hard.
“You have no idea how long I’ve been aching for you to hurt me, Bonnie Bennett.”
Cursed words. They thrilled her. They disgusted her.
“Who are you then?” she asked. “What’s your name?”
He shook his head. “No.”
She raised her eyebrows. “Excuse me?”
He walked even closer to her. “There’s no way in hell I’m telling you that and I’ve been to hell, many hells.”  He brushed his lips against her ear. “When you figure out my name, I promise you, you won’t be able to stop screaming it.”
Bonnie’s eyes fluttered. She pushed him away.
He was a stranger, she knew this, she had no recollection of him whatsoever in her mind, but her mind wasn’t the issue. She was so furious with herself that she could, she could ---
Bonnie seized Kai’s throat, her grip hard, her jaw clenched.
He laughed. “Look at you,” he said. “You’ve been lusting for this for years.”
“Fuck you,” she spat.
“You’re awake now, Bonnie,” he said. “He’ll never be enough. Not now.”
Bonnie tightened her grip, moving forward so that she slammed him against the tree.
“You don’t know anything about him.”
“Only that he isn’t me,” he said. “And now that you’ve met me, that’s always going to be unsatisfying.”
“Shut up,” she warned through clenched teeth. “You know nothing about me.”
He bore his eyes into Bonnie’s and her breathing got shallow. She felt electrified with yearning and rage, desire and contempt. His body called to hers and she responded to him in a way that felt almost cosmic. She felt him before she even saw him. Everything within her screamed for him.
“I know the part of you you thought you’d never feel again even if you don’t remember it.”
He reached forward and started to undo the first button of Bonnie’s jeans, sprouting an ache between her legs. She let go of his throat and slapped his hand away, but as soon as she did, the ache pulsed, making her convulse, and she started unbuckling his belt with a nimbleness that surprised her. He went back to undoing the rest of her buttons and she hurriedly unzipped his fly.
Quickly, he put his hand into her waistband, slipping it beneath her underwear and made contact with her ache.
           They both gasped.
“You don’t remember me but you remember this, don’t you?” he said, rubbing her.
Bonnie’s legs trembled. She bit the inside of her lip to keep from mewling, her tooth piercing it so intensely, she thought she was going to bleed.
“Don’t you?” he whispered in her ear, nipping her ear, circling his finger faster.
Shit. She did. But she couldn’t make any sound of pleasure, she couldn’t give him that satisfaction. He must’ve read her mind.
           “Tell me you like this.”
           His rhythm became agonizingly slow.
No! Please no! She pressed her lips together to keep from begging aloud but she could feel the neediness radiate from her. He knew how to torture her.
“You like it,” he said. “Tell me.”
Nothing she’d felt had been anything like this --- she craved him with a hunger that she did her best to contain, but she wanted him inside of her but oh God, she wanted him inside of her. And she hated herself for it.
Even though Bonnie didn’t say anything, he leaned down to kiss her like a gut reaction, like he couldn’t hold out waiting for her to give in, but Bonnie stopped him by returning her hand to his throat, pinning him to the tree. He didn’t get to do that. He hadn’t earned that. She slipped her free hand beneath his waistband now, holding him, her lips parting at the intensity of his hardness.
He groaned, rich and deep. Her breath hitched. She stroked him, compelling him to massage her quicker. He made no effort to contain his sighs and pants and moans --- wet noises that agitated Bonnie’s own pleasure. As if it was all too much to witness and bear at the same time, he closed his eyes.
“Look at me,” Bonnie demanded.
He moaned.
“You piece of shit, look at me.”
His eyes snapped open, hooded and cloudy. “I – fuck.”
This was wrong. So wrong. Dirty. Awful. She could feel it too --- her shame. But it felt too good for her to stop, to tell him to stop, for any of it to stop. She knew, even now, that she wanted more. She wanted it all. She ---
“Hmm.” Bonnie whimpered. She couldn’t help it. She was close. “Shit,” she moaned.
“Yes.” He smirked, his eyes alight with lust and vicious triumph. He didn’t take them off her. “Tell me you like it,” he said, his voice was breathy and greedy. He intensified his motions --- her legs were going to buckle.
“Tell me you like it,” he insisted.
“I like – I ---” Bonnie was too overcome to finish her thought. Thank God. He would’ve won otherwise.
She climaxed, her muscles spasming around his finger, and she bit him hard on the shoulder as she released, feeling the satisfaction of him convulsing against her body as she pushed him over the edge.
There were a few moments of them slumped against each other, panting and jelly-legged, where there was nothing but oblivion and then --- Mark’s voice.
“This sure as fucking hell isn’t the backyard.”

The surrender
Title: The surrender
Pairing: Kai x Reader
Word Count: 4.3K+
Warnings: romantic, fluff, angst, OOC!Kai
Summary: The reader is gonna marry Kai, but someone from his past comes to make him pay his debts.
Notes: This is the story I wrote for the Fandom Writing Challenge, my prompt was gym. This contest is such a great idea! Hope you like the fic :) This fic takes place after s6 of TVD, but some things are different.
She had met Kai four years ago. It was like she had been known him since forever. They shared multiple passions together, they had the same interests and the same black humour. She loved the way he used to wake her up in the middle of the night to start deep conversations, kissing her on the cheek so slowly and in a very sweet way, she felt home with him; she loved how they made up after a fight, ending everytime with her unbottoning his shirt and him pushing her closer, so close it would feel like even their skin was too much to separate them; but most of all, she loved how he made the proposal special. He had prepared the house they bought together with roses all around the living room, candles, their song played by the vinyl (Sweater Weather, by the Neighbourhood) and he was wearing a smoking. He kneeled down and he showed her the little blue box in which there was the ring. She was in tears, with her hands on her lips, astonished. Then she smiled, murmuring softly Yes.
Now, he was taking the boxes from his apartment to the new house. She was sitting on the couch, staring at the picture the camera - that he had prepared before that moment - took of them when she said that word. It was the only thing that always made her smile, no matter what.
<< Honey, would you like to help me out a little bit? >> Kai asked, entering in the house with a lot of boxes in his hands, his forehead was sweating.
She giggled, holding back a laughter.
<< Of course, honey. >>
<< Oh, come on, it was just a cute nickname for you! >> he exclaimed, leaving the boxes next to the stairs.
<< Since when you’re so cheesy? >> she asked, coming closer to him.
He grabbed her hips, pushing her against him, feeling her heartbeat racing through the chest. He grinned.
<< Since we’re getting married, darling. >> he answered, lowering his voice.
She bursted into laughing, covering her mouth with a hand. He liked so much to make her laugh like that, because her smile was brighter than the sun, behind her hand and her laughter was crystalline.
<< It’s so strange. >>
<< What? >>
<< Saying that we’re engaged. It’s weird. >> she said, while his hands were still laying on her hips.
<< Well, get used to it, because I’m gonna tell everyone that you’re mine, from now on. >> he replied, then he kissed the tip of her nose and got back to the boxes.
<< You already are, Kai. >>
He stopped for a second, then shrugged, smiling like an idiot.
<< Yeah, I am. >>
She rolled her eyes: that guy was gonna be the end of her.
It was late, when she felt these kind of kisses on her left cheek. It was more like lips were touching her skin very softly, she was barely aware of them. She moaned, hoping that Kai would leave her alone, because she really wanted to sleep - she had to get up early in the morning -, but he didn’t. He kept going, caressing her arm, slipping down to her hand, then he went back, like he was driving a car and he stopped on her hip, drawing circles on it. It was his way to make her know that he had to talk to her, that it was important.
She snorted.
<< Are you going to repay me after this at least or I just have to stay up for nothing? >> she asked, her voice a bit low.
<< I’m gonna make it up to you, I promise babe, but can you just turn around and look at me now, please? >> he replied and his voice was rough, it made her shiver, but there was also a tone of concern in it. She didn’t like it.
The clock was striking: 4AM. Like always. She turned in order to look at him. He was barely illuminated by the moon. His left side was bright, but the rest was covered by the dark. He didn’t want her to notice it, but there was fear in his eyes. He couldn’t trick her, to be honest. She was the only person who really knew him.
<< Kai, what’s wrong? >> she asked in a sweet way.
He took her hand in his, brushing his lips on it, like children do. It was his way to calm down, because it made her more real and she was his anchor.
<< What if… hypothetically… there was someone looking for me? Someone from my past, that I didn’t tell you about? >> Kai asked, remembering that figure he saw while he was taking the boxes in the house. He recognized him, of course. He didn’t change in all that time.
She tried to catch his gaze, but he avoided eye contact with her. Damn, he was surely hiding something relevant! He was looking at the ring on her finger, bright under the stars’ shine.
<< You’re gonna tell me everything or you’re gonna tell me everything, there’s no in between. >> she responded.
He put a hand through his hair, breathing out the air. He needed more oxygen. She was his oxygen. He couldn’t allow himself to lose her.
<< I can’t. >> he answered closing his eyes, even if he knew that it was gonna piss her off, because she hated when he did this, but he had to keep her safe.
She slowly held back her hand from him, looking anywhere but him.
<< Then, we’ve got a problem. >>
He clenched his jaw.
<< I’m sorry. >>
She nodded, biting her bottom lip.
<< Yeah. >>
<< Don’t be mad. >>
<< Are you kidding me, Kai? >> she asked, totally angry, switching the light on. He sat on the bed immediately, as soon as she got up from it. << What the hell is happening? Who’s coming for you? >>
<< I was joking, okay? It was just a joke. >> he said, smiling, but it was a fake one and she knew it.
<< Damn Kai, I know when you’re lying. It’s not a game! What happened? >>
He thought about it, about confessing her who he was before, about the merge with his siblings, about the others letting him go for mercy, but that was his life before her. He wasn’t that person anymore. But, also, she would have looked at him with different eyes and he couldn’t let it happen.
<< Promise me you’re not gonna forget your feelings about me. >>
She gulped, her heart skipped a beat.
<< You’re scaring me. >>
<< Just promise me. Do it, please. >>
She looked at the ground, torching her hands. She moistened her lips, before talking.
<< I won’t. >>
He breathed out, relieved.
<< Come here. >>
She got back to bed, her arms around his waist and his hands caressing her hair. She didn’t feel safe, that night. There was something wrong and she had to discover what it was. But, despite everything, when she closed her eyes, listening to Kai’s heartbeat, she fell asleep almost instantly.
                                                                ***
She was getting dressed to go to the office, when someone knocked at the door. Kai went to open, she heard his footsteps from downstairs. She finished to put her hair in a ponytail, when Kai asked to the visitor something with low voice. She decided to investigate, so she went downstairs slowly, without being heard. A guy with dark hair was talking to him and he seemed very angry.
<< Now that I’ve found you, Bonnie’s gonna lock you up forever. >>
<< Look, I don’t want trouble. I’ve changed. I won’t come after you or Elena or Bonnie or anyone, this time. >>
<< Oh, sure as hell you won’t, because we’re gonna send you again to a prison world. >> he answered, grabbing his wrist.
<< Damon, please… don’t make me do it. >>
<< Kai? >> she called.
He turned to face her. His eyes grew wide, frightened. The last thing he wanted was she getting hurt. And Damon would have done it. They voted, but Damon and Bonnie weren’t glad to see him leaving Mystic Falls, even if the majority of the others let him go. They were afraid he could harm somebody. He didn’t.
<< Y/N, go away! >> Kai exclaimed.
<< Who’s she? >> Damon asked, then he saw the ring. << Are you getting married? While Elena’s still in a coffin because of you? No, no, no, if I can’t have the happy ending with the woman I love, neither are you! >> Damon said, just a second before he could run onto you.
But Kai was faster and when she was about to get bitten by a vampire, he sucked some of his life from his wrist with a hand, knocking him out. She looked at him, afraid of what he could do to her too for the first time in years. He took a step to get closer to her, but she took a step back, instead. It was the moment he realized he had lost her. It hurt his heart like only a punch could do.
<< I would never, never, hurt you in any way possible. >> he said, showing his hands. A bit of electricity seemed to jump from one finger to another, because it was the first time he used magic since he got away from Mystic Falls.
The tears burned behind her eyes.
<< You already did. >>
Kai felt his heart fall from his chest to his stomach. Feelings were really the most horrible thing to handle in a human life. He tried to be human, he did, a lot, but it wasn’t him. He still liked the smell of magic, the power running through his veins, the way it made him feel. Powerful. Indistructible. Whole. Not damaged, like his father always told him. Not evil. Not fragile.
<< I’m not human, Y/N. >>
<< That was pretty clear to me. >> she replied, crossing her arms.
<< I come from a prison world in which I was put after I… >> he stopped, gulping. He couldn’t reveal all of his story to her. She would have looked at him differently. She wouldn’t recover after this. << Look, I did terrible things and my coven, the Gemini coven, kicked me out from there and they were right, but then I changed. I made ammend for my mistakes. I’m not that man anymore, you know it. >>
<< How could I be so sure of that, Kai? >> she asked and her voice was trembling.
<< I’m the same man who asked you to marry him. You loved me yesterday and you have to love me today, still. >> he answered, clutching his shirt where his heart was laying. His eyes were circled in red and he looked so tired, old. It was like he was a totally new person. A stranger. << I do. >>
<< I don’t know if it’s still like this anymore. >> she reponded and her voice cracked down.
His heart broke into millions of tiny little pieces. He could feel them so sharp, they could even cut him from the inside and make him bleed, like fragments of a glass could do with the palms of the hands. He tried to breathe, but it was like he was going under, adrift, without his anchor. He was drowning. Then, the worst thing that could happen, was now real. She took the ring from her finger and gave it to him. He shaked his head, but she grabbed his hand and put it on his palm. He clenched his fingers around the ring, biting the inner of his cheek, until he could taste the metallic sense that the blood leaves.
Damon got up. He was furious. The first thing he did was sending her across the room. She tossed, after she was thrown away against a wall. Kai got immediately angry at him, so he used magic to fling Damon onto the ceiling. Damon took a stick from a chair, hurt Kai’s leg and then went straight to her. She tried to crawl back, but her head hurt.
<< You don’t wanna do it, Damon. >> Kai threatened.
<< I want to, Kai. >>
She looked back to see if something could help her, but she didn’t know what to do. It was like her brain freezed. Could she use a pillow? A lamp? Maybe she could throw a lamp against him. She made it fall from the table, along with the photograph of the proposal. The glass of the frame broke. Kai saw it, while the last magic he had sucked from Damon, was slipping away from his hands and it hit him in the chest.
<< I surrender. >>
She looked at him, her eyes grew wide. No, he couldn’t do it! He couldn’t play the part of the surrender, just to save her!
<< You, what? >> Damon asked, turning to look at him.
<< I surrender. Just leave her alone. Please. >>
Damon grinned, raising an eyebrow.
<< Great. Now let’s go to Mystic Falls. >>
Kai gulped, standing in front of the door. Damon went away, faster than anyone could ever do. Kai was about to use some teleportation? She didn’t know, but she couldn’t let him doing it alone.
<< I’ll come with you. >> she whispered, trying to get up.
<< If I have to die, I have to do it alone. >>
A sob slipped away from her throat.
<< You know I love you, right? >>
Kai’s lips trembled, then he nodded, not able to talk.
Then, she saw him disappearing from her visual range. So she jumped from the floor, in order to reach him, running to fill the distance that tried to take them apart and finally hugged him, holding him tight, fading away with him.
It happened just before they got together. It was raining outside and it was very late, that night. They had been known each other for weeks, but she never moved a step, even if he kept gazing at her or winking at her. Everytime she saw him training in the gym, it was like her heartbeat was going faster and faster, looking at his muscles, his body, his rings that continued to shine under the lights… there was something, something dangerous, that had attracted her to him and she had to vent the repressed lust making exercises. She waited and waited and waited, until she couldn’t do it anymore.
So, she waited for everybody to go out from the male dressing room, except for him and then she entered. She heard the sound of a shower, biting her bottom lip, because of the dirty thoughts she had about him. She wasn’t supposed to had them, he was her friend after all, but luckily they weren’t so close to make the situation weird. That was her opinion about their relationship, at least. The sound stopped. She listened to his footsteps coming closer, until he went out from the shower with a towel tied to his hips and one another between his hands to dry his hair. He noticed her, put the towel away and looked at her. At the beginning he was surprised, but then he grinned.
<< Took you long enough, uh? >>
She gulped, less confident in what she wanted to do or say. Now she was paralyzed by fear. What if he didn’t feel like her? What if he didn’t want something more than a night of passion?
<< What? >> she asked, her voice sounded like a murmur.
<< I was wondering… >> he replied, moving closer to her, his voice rough and low, with water slipping away from his hair and his lips so red, it seemed like blood. Her heart began to race. << …if you’d ever do something about this situation. >>
She shaked her head, trying to focus on his words and not on his damn chest.
<< What situation? >>
<< Oh, you know, >> he answered, caressing a limb of his towel with his fingertips. He was teasing her, she got it. Hell, she hated him, << the fact that you’re disperately trying to stay away from me, even if the only thing you want is to rip my clothes off and… >>
She couldn’t wait anymore. He wanted it, she wanted it, they both wanted it. She kissed him. Their lips moved in sync, like they were supposed to meet as two pieces of the same puzzle a long ago, but they couldn’t and now they were recovering the past. He pushed her against the wall, taking control of the situation, his fingertips moving up on her hips, crashing his lips against hers twice, three times, four times, until she had to stop him to catch her breath.
<< I’ve been wanting this for… >> << Me too. >> he said, putting a lock of her hair behind her ear with softness. It didn’t seem like him, after what they had just done.
She looked in his eyes and saw torment, melancholy, but also sweetness, that kind of sweetness that comes from pain. She had noticed that just now.
<< I don’t want to ruin anything between us, Kai. >> she said and got his attention.
<< You won’t. This can just get better and better. >> he responded, smiling and that maybe was the moment in which she fell for him.
She didn’t know why, but falling in love with Kai felt like falling in love with the devil.
She crumbled on top of him, falling on the ground. He looked at her, astonished. Then, he bursted into laughing. Why the hell was he laughing? Was it funny? She was about to lose him forever and he was laughing?
<< You’re such an idiot, Kai! >> she exclaimed, trying to stand up.
<< This reminds me the first time we got laid, in the gym, remember? >>
She blushed, standing up.
<< I hate you. >>
<< Liar. >>
He got up after her, checking if the ring was still in the jean’s pocket, then looked around them. That was Mystic Falls. Damn, he wished to never see that place again.
<< What’s this place? >> she asked, confused.
It was the time to tell her the truth. He didn’t want to do it, he just wanted to keep her away from his past, he wanted to be a better person for her, the person she already thought he was, but it was hard now. He was gonna lose her forever.
<< I caused harm, in the past, to some people… well, a lot of people, but they let me go. Sadly, two of them were in disagree with the others and now they want revenge, I suppose. >>
She crossed her arms.
<< What did you do to them? >>
Not Why didn’t you tell me? or You’ve been a liar since the moment I’ve met you. She gave him the chance to explain.
<< It’s complicated. >> he answered.
She sighed.
<< We’re gonna fix this and then you’ll tell me anything at home, okay? >>
<< Home? >> he asked, shocked. He thought there wasn’t a home to come back to, he thought she didn’t forgive him, but maybe she did. Maybe she… Oh. Oh, no. He closed his eyes, breathing out. Her eyes were like an open door to her heart. She was just tired, that was the truth, tired of his lies and his silences. << Yeah, we’re gonna talk at home. >>
That would have been the last time they could. He was sure about that.
She followed him, while he was placing the ring she gave him in the necklace he had around his neck. She was behind him, walking calmly, but he could feel her heart going fast, concerned.
<< Why did you follow me, Y/N? >> he asked, outside the Salvatore’s house. She didn’t answer. << I mean, you could have just remained at home, thinking about a new life, thinking that I was better than I really am. It would have been… >>
<< …easier. >> she finished the sentence for him. He turned to look at her. << Yeah, I could. Damn me and my stupid feelings about the man I was supposed to marry, I guess. >>
Kai closed his eyes. The sense of guilt grabbed his throat and cut his vocal cords. He understood it, he just wanted her to say it, to say that she still cared about him, somehow.
<< I’m sorry. >> he said, opening his eyes, cirlced in red and glossy. << I’m sorry I dragged you into this. >>
She nodded.
<< Me too. >>
 << I’ve been wanting this for… >> << Me too. >>
He knocked. Two seconds later, Damon opened the door and grabbed him by his collar.
<< Whoa dude, calm down! >> she exclaimed, opening her palms in front of her chest, to make him understand they came in peace. << He just surrendered to you, show a little respect for your enemy, couldn’t you? >>
He shaked his head, looking at her.
<< Why are you here? >>
<< Who’s she? >> a blonde girl asked. << Kai was the only one supposed to be here. >>
<< She’s his fiancé. >> Damon replied.
<< What? >> another girl asked, surprised. << She’s not wearing any r… >> she was saying, but then she interrupted, when she looked at Kai’s chest, where the ring was, tied to his necklace.
Y/N looked at him too and she saw it. She held her breath. It was like a demonstration of his love for her. She was angry with him, she was furious, but the guy she had been known for four years was a different person. He wasn’t bad, he wasn’t violent, he wasn’t kind either, but he was one of the good guys and she loved him. She loved him with every inch of her body.
<< Are you insane? Are you crazy? >>
<< Caroline! >> the other girl called.
<< Bonnie, that would be the only motivation to be with a sociopath like him. >>
<< No, wait, maybe there’s another explanation. >> she stated. << Since the merge with Luke and Liv, he changed. Now he’s kind of different, I think. That’s why he found someone who loves him. >>
Damon shaked his head, still holding Kai by his collar.
<< I don’t care. That’s his fault, if Elena’s in a coffin. He’s gonna pay for that. >>
<< Wait. >> Y/N said, trying to be brave, to show confidence, like that time in the gym. << Maybe there’s something Kai could do to fix your problem. Can you, Kai? >> she asked him, looking in his eyes, praying him to show them compassion.
She basically begged him to let himself go (for her).
<< Yeah, there is. >> he replied. He heard her pray.
She breathed out, relieved. Then, he started to talk.
They got home. He knew he had to tell her the whole story, he knew he had to be honest with her, but he also knew that he hide a lot of terrible things to her and they were hard to digest. They stopped on the doorstep. She had her back laying on the door, while he was staring at her, the keys between his fingers, moving, trembling. He was scared of what she could say. He almost prepared for a death sentence.
It never came.
<< I think you have something that belongs to me. >> she said.
He gulped.
<< What? >>
She glanced at the ring on his chest. He nodded, understanding it. He took the ring away fromt he necklace and gave it to her. His fingers met hers for a second and that contact made her shiver. He didn’t seem to have noticed it, because his eyes were locked into hers.
<< I thought I was gonna lose you. >> she affirmed, putting the ring around her finger.
<< Look, Y/N… >>
<< No, let me finish. >> she interrupted him. << I’m still angry about the lies and I still don’t understand a lot of things about your past, but I believe that you’re different, now. The fact that you didn’t attack Damon until you had to and that you surrendered to him, even if it meant losing everything, shows me that you’re still the same. You’re still the same guy I had feelings about and I remember it. >> she explained, referring to the promise she made him earlier. He clenched his jaw, gulping. She forgave him, even after all the awful things he had done, someone loved him enough to forgive him. He held back his tears, that were burning behind his eyes. << I fell for you that night in the gym, Kai. >> she said and a sob slipped away from her lips. He felt the urge to grab her hand, but he stopped himself. << I don’t know if it’s toxic or fair that I’m in love with you, but I am and I don’t want to throw away everything that we’ve built. >>
Kai nodded.
<< Neither am I. >>
Y/N’s lips trembled.
<< Do you love me? >>
He caressed her cheek. He needed to feel her skin against him, her warmth.
<< Of course, I do. >>
She hugged him. She held him so tight, her knuckled turned white. She closed her eyes, hoping that everything could be alright, finally. Just feeling him so close to her, was like being home again. He wasn’t the bad guy anymore, even after all the terrible things he had done. He was just her boyfriend.

Square Enix’s Spider-Man, Cyclops, & Thor
Discovered today that Cyclops is also getting a figure designed by Square Enix and I felt the need to post it alongside the ones for Spider-Man and Thor. Turns out all three of my favorite Marvel heroes got the Final Fantasy treatment and I absolutely love how they look. Can’t help imagining these three in a party together in a FF game (with Thor totally casting Thundaga) and I am reminded that Marvel and Square Enix do have that new partnership for an “Avengers Project.” Very excited.

dating kai parker
Tumblr media
a/n: this is just like a general dating kai parker fluff hc
you’d meet in mystic falls after he came back from the prison world the first time and yeah it’d be complicated
and to be honest, you’d be pretty neutral about him at first but you’d obviously be attracted to him
the easiest part of your relationship would be falling for each other because you’d both bring out a side of each other that you’d never really knew you had
going on different kinds of dates to keep things interesting but you’d also stay in most of the time because no restaurant could beat kai’s spaghetti recipe
lazy days where you’d watch some of each other’s favorite movies and kai would go on a tangent explaining why one of his favorites was the best of its time
it’d be funny yet cute to watch him talk a mile a minute but you’d eventually have to shut him up with a few kisses
sitting out on the porch of your childhood home at night, hand in hand, while you’d talk about your ideal futures and both of you would end blushing when you’d realize that you included each other
i mean, it’s not that you’d think it was impossible but you both knew it’d be a little difficult
and that brings me to the hardest part of your relationship with kai: being together despite how the mystic falls gang felt
they wouldn’t make it easy for kai which would definitely bother you but you’d figure that they’d eventually move past it
so let’s just ff a few years
both of you would have gone through a lot and it would make you grow closer
moving away from mystic falls would be your highest priority and the happiness you’d both feel when you finally did move would make everything worth it
being away from mystic falls would give both of you a chance to catch your breaths and really live the lives you’d want
would definitely not be typical but what really is when it comes to kai??
“to keep you on your toes” is what he’d say, his lips close to the shell of your ear
maybe you’d end up living in the city or the middle of nowhere but it wouldn’t really matter to either of you
i don’t think either of you would really want to settle down in one place just yet so you’d travel and move around a lot
and even though it would be a little stressful sometimes, nothing would beat seeing that smile on kai’s face
after all that he went through, him being happy would also be a main priority
and vice versa because he’d know that you sacrificed a lot to be with him and he’d still question why but he’d be happy that you decided to stick with him
he honestly wouldn’t know where he’d be without you
you’d be there to hold him and calm him down when he’d have nightmares about his family and the prison world that he’d swear felt so real
and no matter how many times he’d tell you that he’s okay or how long it had been, his past still followed him
having you there to surround him with the love he always wished he had and treat him like a person would be more than he could ever ask for
thanks for reading!

“Suicide mission” (Kai Parker x Reader)
A/N: Hello 😊 Next piece from my list. There’s a part of “reality of fear”. It’s changed a bit but still there. I wrote it awhile back so it can suck a little, but I still hope you will like it 😉
====================================
Being a heretic in Mystic Falls wasn’t anything special. Having Damon as a friend wasn’t anything new. But helping psychopathic witch was like a suicide mission.
You met Kai when he escaped the prison world. He siphoned your magic thinking you’ll die, but you were part vampire. At first you were furious teaming up with Damon to kill the boy. But then you found out that he was Malachai Parker. The kid who was hated because of something he couldn’t control. So you pitted him.
Your relationship was hard. Kai didn’t felt emotions like other people. You were trying everything to make him feel something, anything. But it was useless.
Until he merged with Luke. You saw his first true smile, first tears and first anger. You were there through everything. And Kai appreciated that.
But there were bad times too. The times when he let his insecurity take over.
“Come on Kai” You whined looking at his sprawled body. He had been laying on the couch for past five hours “It’s just a drink with Damon”
“He invited you. Not me” He protested trying to see what was on TV
“Damon knows that where I go you go too” You glared at your friend but he simply shrugged
“Damon is Damon” Kai said but you gave him quizzical look “There will be others and if you forgot I tried to kill them all”
“That wasn’t a problem when you tried to befriend them” You pointed out and Kai turned his gaze away “It’s not that” You sighted and kneeled to be in his eye level “Tell me”
“I…” He hesitated but you turned his head so he would look into your eyes, it always worked “I’m scared. I’m scared they’ll kill me” You studied his face for few seconds before speaking in a soft voice
“You’re not afraid of them” You stated “We both know that you could snap they’re necks by touching my hand” He chuckled lightly but you could still see his nervousness “You’re afraid of rejection”
“Why would I?” He laughed
“Kai” You said softly and placed your hand on his cheek “I know what you’ve been through. My family was scared of me too. And I know how it feels to be rejected again and again. But you don’t have to be afraid anymore. You have me. And I’m not going anywhere, okay?” He nodded slowly and huge smile lit up your face
“I feel something weird” Kai mumbled still looking at you
“What is it?” You asked quickly checking his body for any signs of sickness
“It feels like my insides… Like there’s something moving in my stomach?” He said looking at you uncertain and you laughed softly
“I’m afraid you’ll have to get used to it”
“Why? What is it?” He asked slightly panicking
“Love” You said grinning like a fool
“I’m in love” Kai breathed out and smiled “I’m in love with you” He laughed happily and crushed his lips against yours. You smiled into the kiss and let your hands through his hair
“You know” You said between kisses “I think Damon can wait” You both grinned before kissing again.

Tumblr media
Chapter 2: Double Trouble
The last time Eliot saw Alex was when they were 16 years old. Alex had been living with Uncle Danny for 6 years at that point, so the brothers didn't have much of a relationship even then, and the reunion had been awkward and tense. Jake was the one who tried to keep them together, who talked their father into hosting Christmas that year. He was the one who'd called Alex and begged him to come home for a week. Just a week.
They'd lasted three days.
At the time Eliot had blamed Alex—immature, bull-headed Alex, whose verbal and then physical fights with their father had led to his living with Uncle Danny in the first place. If he could have just learned to keep his mouth shut, most of the fights wouldn't have happened. Eliot and Jake had learned that lesson—why couldn't Alex? He always had to have the last word, no matter what the cost.
That last visit was what finally convinced Eliot to leave home. He thought about college, but eventually decided to enlist as soon as he turned 18 (without telling their father). Jake was supposed to go with him, but he'd wanted to see Alex one more time before they left. When months went by and Alex didn't come back, Eliot left both his brothers behind.
Age had given Eliot perspective, but by the time he was ready to apologize, Jake wouldn't take his calls. Alex had already joined the DEA, and a series of undercover assignments for both of them made it impossible for Eliot to reach out. And then he got involved with Moreau, and getting in touch was no longer an option. It would have put them in too much danger, and that was one thing Eliot would never do. But after a while, even that became an excuse. After he escaped Moreau, after Nate created a team and a family for him, he let the silence continue. He'd made that choice on his own.
And now apparently Alex was in the Philippines. Permanently, according to the detective who introduced herself as Kai Mendoza. That was all she would tell him (through gritted teeth, as though Eliot had committed some unforgivable sin by asking). "We have to take care of this mess," she'd grumbled. "Then we'll take you to see Alex."
She hadn't asked if Eliot wanted to see Alex, and part of him was glad for that. If he'd been given the option, he wasn't sure he'd have said yes. It would have been easy to say that he was too busy, that he couldn't stay, that it was better for them not to meet. But now that the offer was there, Eliot couldn't turn it down. One way or another, he was going to see his brother today.
Kai and her partner Ernesto drove him and the two men they'd arrested to the police station, where Eliot was firmly told to stay in the car. Kai paused after giving the order as if waiting for him to argue, even after he nodded and promised to stay put. Apparently Alex hadn't changed much since they were kids.
While the others were inside, Eliot took a few minutes to call Hardison and update him on the job. It was just the two of them on this one, with Hardison pulling the strings from somewhere in Vietnam while Eliot worked on the ground in Cebu.
Hardison picked up on the first ring. "All done? I booked you a flight back to New Orleans on—"
"I ran into a little snag," Eliot interrupted.
"What kind of snag?"
Eliot explained most of his encounter with Kai and Ernesto, but he couldn't bring himself to include the fact that he'd been mistaken for one of his long-lost triplet brothers. Hardison knew he had siblings, but Eliot hadn't ever gone into details about them. He wasn't sure what he'd say now, and he knew Hardison would have questions. Best to leave it be. He'd give Hardison a more in-depth explanation later.
"So now what?" Hardison asked.
"Now we wait and see if they can salvage the sting. If they arrest Flores, our work is done."
"And if they don't?"
"I'll let you know."
There was a pause, as if Hardison was trying to decide whether or not to voice his next thought. "Is there something else?"
Eliot sighed. He tried not to lie to Hardison or Parker, but he didn't want to have this conversation now. "Not about the job," he answered. "I'll explain later."
To his credit, Hardison didn't argue, even though he had to be burning with curiosity. "Okay. Call back when you have more to share."
"Yeah."
It was another twenty minutes before Kai and Ernesto emerged from the police station, both wearing grim expressions. They were talking as they approached the car, and Eliot caught the tail end of their conversation through the open windows.
"I didn't want to bring him in on this," Kai was saying.
Ernesto shrugged. "We don't really have a choice anymore."
"Things get messy when his family is involved. It'll only complicate things."
Interesting. Which of his relatives had already come to the island? Evidently Eliot's family had a knack for disrupting the locals.
"Ocampo's orders," Ernesto said. He opened the passenger door and slid into the car, turning to look over his shoulder at Eliot. "We'll take you to see Alex, but you're going to have to come back to the station and explain what you were doing with Flores."
Eliot crossed his arms. "Figured you'd want to know that first."
"We do," Kai said, with a frown at her partner. "You owe the delay to Alex. He's helped us out in the past, and Ernesto thinks we should tell him you're here before he finds out from someone else."
"The surprise could kill him," Ernesto said mildly.
"You just want to see his face when we show up with his doppelganger."
"Don't you?" Ernesto asked. Kai huffed and dropped into the driver's seat.
They lapsed into silence during the drive, which Eliot appreciated. His stomach had begun an uneasy churn, though he told himself it was just because of the heat. There was nothing to be nervous about. Sure Eliot hadn't reached out, but neither had Alex. Neither had Jake, for that matter. Eliot had gone home once, just after he got out of the service, and found Jake had taken over the oil company. Their neighbors said that Jake was turning things around, digging out of debt and even managing a profit, and Eliot accepted the blessing and drove out of town without stopping by the house. It was enough that Jake was happy. He didn't need Eliot coming back and ruining things for him.
Kai pulled into the parking lot of another hotel, dodging groups of brightly dressed tourists as she went. "He owns the gift shop here at the resort," Ernesto explained, flashing a friendly smile over his shoulder. Kai didn't look at him as she got out of the car, but Eliot was happy to keep his silence. He trailed behind her as she led the way through the resort, winding around pools and umbrella-covered tables, slowing every few moments so Ernesto could greet someone. Apparently the friendliness wasn't an act—or else it was a very good one. But something about the man felt genuine, as if he couldn't be bothered to put up a front.
Kai, on the other hand... she was harder to read. Especially now that she wasn't giving Eliot anything to work with except the occasional glare.
Before long the bustle of the resort faded as concrete transitioned to sand beneath their feet. A small building rose ahead of them, still against the backdrop of gentle waves and lazy clouds. A soft breeze ruffled Eliot's hair, filling his lungs with salt and sunshine. He wanted to stop, to look out at the water and breathe in the sea spray and the silence, but the others kept walking.
No wonder Alex had picked this spot. If retirement was in Eliot's future, he could see himself in a place like this.
Ernesto reached the door, and Eliot took one last windswept breath to brace himself.
"You look nervous," Kai murmured.
No he didn't. He knew he didn't, because the only emotions he gave away were the ones he wanted people to see. And he was most definitely not nervous. But her eyes lingered on his, and something softened in her expression.
"Don't worry," she said, giving him a small, hesitant smile. "It'll be fine."
"Alex," Ernesto called, and Eliot's stomach gave another roll. This was a mistake. He shouldn't have come. He tried to back away, but Kai put her hand on his arm and cut off his retreat, guiding him inside.
The gift shop was empty besides one man restocking a rack of post cards. He stood with his back to them, but it was impossible to mistake him for anyone else. He had the same build as Eliot, the same brown hair he'd have to fight to keep straight in this humidity, the same scarred hands from years of work and fighting.
"Hey!" Alex said without turning around. "Check it out, I got new cards."
Ernesto started across the room, gesturing for Eliot to follow. "How come you didn't tell us you had a twin?"
Alex looked at him. "A twin? I don't have a tw—"
His eyes fell on Eliot, and his words died. Eliot could feel Kai watching them, waiting for a reaction, but he couldn't think of anything to say. Hey, how've you been the last 30 years? Oh, me? Well, first I was an international assassin, and now I work with a group of thieves who steal from the rich and give to the poor. I still punch people for a living though. How about you?
Something started beeping. Eliot started—no, not started, just looked around for the source—but Alex slapped his hand to his wrist and the sound stopped.
"Everything okay?" Ernesto asked. Alex made a noncommittal sound, glancing at him before returning his attention to Eliot. His eyes seemed bluer than Eliot remembered. It was probably just the lighting, but since it was the only thought that didn't spiral out of control, it was the one Eliot clung to. Blue eyes like their mother's, like the pond water in the back yard. Blue eyes that had been red with anger and hurt the last time he'd seen them.
"Which one are you?" Alex asked.
Behind him, Kai made a choking sound. Ernesto shushed her.
"But—" she sputtered. "Are there more of them?"
Eliot refocused on his brother. "You don't recognize me?"
"You both look the same," Alex deadpanned.
"Well, we're in the Philippines and I'm speaking English."
For a long moment Alex simply stared at him as if trying to read the details of their separation in his face. Then he reached out, and Eliot braced himself for the punch. He wouldn't fight back—not at first, not unless things got out of hand. He could take a hit or two, let Alex burn off some of his anger, and then try talking. They weren't 16 anymore. They could handle this like adults.
But Alex didn't hit him. His arms flashed out past Eliot's head, wrapping around his shoulders, pulling him tight. "Eliot," he murmured, crushing him in a hug that drove the breath from Eliot's lungs. He didn't care. He grabbed two fistfuls of Alex's shirt and squeezed, pressing everything he couldn't voice into the embrace.
"It's good to see you," Alex said at last, gruffly. He pulled away without taking his hands from Eliot's shoulders. "What are you doing here?"
"Uh... work."
Alex frowned at the hesitation. "What kind of work?"
Eliot sent a look over his shoulder, where Kai and Ernesto still waited. They clearly had some kind of relationship with Alex, but how far did that extend? Likely not far enough to keep from arresting Eliot for the half-dozen laws he'd broken to secure his meeting with Flores. "I'll tell you later."
"Now's as good a time as any," Kai said. "You can tell us now or at the station, whichever you prefer."
"We can give them a little longer," Ernesto argued.
"Flores is still out there. The longer we wait, the more time he has to act."
"Who's Flores?" Alex asked. He let his hands slide from Eliot's shoulders, a frown settling over his face.
Kai gave him a pointed look. "I'll tell you later."
"I think you should tell me now."
"I don't care what—"
Ernesto held his hands up, putting himself between the two of them. "Kai, we can give them a few more minutes to catch up. We'll be outside, Alex. Ten minutes." He looked at Eliot. "Then you come to the station with us. Understand?"
"Fine," Alex said. "Ten minutes. I got it."
Though Kai looked like she wanted to argue, she allowed Ernesto to guide her toward the door. "Nice friends you've got," Eliot muttered.
He'd meant it as a joke, but Alex gave a serious nod. "Yeah. They are. They're closer than some of my family."
Apparently they were going to fight after all. "I didn't know how to contact you," Eliot said.
"You're smart. You couldn't figure something out?"
"Couldn't you?" Eliot countered. "The last I heard you were undercover. Reaching out would have put you in danger."
"I'm retired now," Alex said.
"So I hear."
Alex crossed his arms over his chest. "I did try to find you. There was a rumor going around that you'd died."
"I didn't. Well, I did once, but it didn't stick."
"How long ago was that?"
"While you were still undercover."
Alex gave a frustrated growl. "Fine. We both could have done more, alright? Just... fill me in on the case."
The case was a safe topic, so Eliot embraced the change without complaint. He gave his brother the basics as he knew them: Robert Flores was looking to set up a base to smuggle drugs to the United States. Hardison had been tracking him throughout Asia, but when business kept him in Vietnam he'd contacted Eliot about finishing the job. "Should have been simple enough," Eliot said. "Set up a meeting, figure out his weakness, take him down."
"But you weren't the only one after him," Alex said. He heaved a sigh. "How mad was Kai when you showed up?"
An involuntary smile pulled at Eliot's lips. "She thought I was you. I think she wanted to kill me more than Flores's men did."
Alex chuckled, sobering a moment later. "So this is what you do? You go after international criminals?"
"More or less."
"With who? I mean—CIA? Interpol?"
"It's kind of a freelance operation."
Alex shook his head. "That doesn't make any sense."
"It's a lot to explain," Eliot said. "And I will, I promise. Soon as we have the time."
"Right." Alex gave him another long look, and a small grin appeared on his face. "It's good to see you, man. It's been too long."
Eliot didn't try to stop his answering grin. "You go by Walker now?"
"You'd already taken Mom's name. Didn't leave me with much of a choice."
"Yeah, but... Walker? As in Texas Ranger?"
Alex hissed and shot a look toward the door. "Don't say it out loud, man. I've got a reputation to keep up here."
Eliot laughed, but Ernesto chose that moment to knock and peek into the gift shop, effectively ending the conversation. "You two finished?" he called.
"For now," Alex answered. "Where's Kai?"
"She went to get some coffee. She'll be back any minute."
Alex nodded. "Good. I wanna be back before the afternoon rush."
"You're not coming," Ernesto said. "I don't think Kai can handle two of you."
Eliot folded his arms. "For the record, I'm not Alex's double. If anything he's my double. I'm older."
"By eight minutes," Alex snapped.
"That's older."
Alex huffed a wordless reply, and Eliot felt a glow of something familiar in his chest. This was an argument they'd had hundreds of times—Eliot, being the oldest, started it most often when they were kids. Jake had come next, and then Alex—Baby Alex, they called him, whenever he was being annoying. Eliot was pleased to find the joke still funny.
Even better, Alex seemed to still find it annoying. Eliot couldn't say why that felt so comforting. Maybe it was just that he was thankful to see a glimpse of the old Alex, the one he'd known before they let their father and their pride get in the way of their relationship. Maybe it was the fact that Alex was relaxed enough to have this conversation in front of Ernesto. Maybe Alex had found a team the way Eliot had.
Maybe it was a good thing he'd come here after all.

I suppose the next step then is "BBC Merlin but it's SpideyTorch"
Oh my god. TEACHER, TEACHER, SHE’S TARGETING ME okay okay uh.
Peter, secret warlock, goes to Camelot with his mother figure, May, who does not know about the warlock thing because it kicked in when he was a teenager and they both strategically decline to tell each other things. Gaius is Reed, who was the court sorcerer and is now the court scientist. (He’s not an old man except spiritually where he has been a senile professor since he was 19.) He literally didn’t change anything he was doing, considering science and magic as different points on one spectrum anyway-- No. That’s Doom’s schtick. DOOM was the court sorcerer, and was fired. He is upset about it. Reed is just a science guy but worked extensively with Victor, so he’s kind of useful, but not as useful as Peter was hoping.
I know very little about Sue and Johnny’s dad except that he’s a supervillain who...faked his death, revealed himself, and then died for real like 12 hours later? Did he also fake his wife’s death at some point? Would he do a mad king magic ban thing? Idk but for plot purposes we’ll say yes. They conveniently already share Arthur’s dead mom syndrome. Maybe their aunt whose name is different depending on what issue you’re reading is also here just to convolute the court drama. Wait no didn’t Arthur have a shady uncle show up after like five seasons. She.
Peter is very talented at finicky, specific magical formulas. (Reed: :) )But in practice he really prefers to just slam out a big wave of power, and if that doesn’t solve the problem, repeat until it does. (Reed: :( ) He gives this a go at the beginning of sorting out any problem, like restarting your glitching computer, and if it doesn’t work the problem is complicated enough to be an episode plot.
So obviously I’m still gonna do secret identity shit? Peter saves the young prince and heir’s life and is rewarded with a second job; he only came here for job reasons and you’re all lucky he doesn’t turn down paying jobs otherwise he’d be having some words with the king. Peter also accidentally becomes a masked vigilante out in the town. His very existence is illegal because he’s obviously doing magic! They keep sending his boss out to hunt him down, and their eyes are always locking dramatically and shit in brief silent stare-offs from opposite ends of the street in thunder storms at sunset until Johnny’s horse rears and breaks the eye contact causing Peter to snap out of it and flee. You know how it is.
Sue is older than Johnny and thus older than the magic ban, so she responded to it by going “:) That’s nice, Dad” and socking away a bunch of books before they could go on the fire, and now she’s just a sorceress on the dl. This is approx. a first season finale reveal, because her real superpower is being able to keep her mouth the hell shut. I literally cannot with how nobody in Merlin ever exchanges information, so shortly after Peter and Reed learn this they exchange secrets, like sane people, which opens up their resources a bit.
That said Sue is an extra legitimate royal, not the Morgana equivalent. Maybe Gwen should be Gwen, especially since I have thought Gwen/Johnny/Peter has potential since reading Spider-Man/Fantastic Four (which if you read an earlier ask, I recommend if you want to see new art of Gwen being mean in hair clips). But Peter/Gwen and Merlin/Freya are like...same energy except the latter wasn’t as well done. And Merlin’s Guinevere honestly more reminds me of Betty. Morgana--
(wheeze)
(cough)
Okay I thought this trying to reconcile as much of the cast as possible and I now can’t unthink it so. The king’s ward is Dorrie Evans. Yes she goes nebulously sapphic evil witch queen. Sure she was an unpleasant teenager and readers hate her, but you know what, I’ll simp, whatever. Let Dorrie poison some people. In a cape. This feels natural to me. Also Betty Brant and Dorrie Evans???? Betty/Dorrie vibes???? I guess!!!!
So like. The thing where Arthur gets mystically whammied by love potions once a month, except also Johnny’s normal relationship-anticipating giddiness happening organically mixed in, the part before he actually starts dating someone and becomes immediately depressed. Peter is in the bg sarcastically dismissing magical incidents saying he can’t even tell the difference, and Reed is like 😬 Please Check Anyway. Peter’s not, haha, Peter’s not jealous, Johnny is just an idiot, and, okay maybe Peter is a little jealous! But it doesn’t matter because the prince is going to marry some noble and--
Reed: Prince Johnathan is a bit like a little brother to me, so Please Stop Telling Me About Your Problems.
Reed/Sue is reciprocated but on permanent hold for class reasons. Spideytorch is in the same boat except they’re also stupid and working it out by dating their way through the whole country, except Peter is actually into that and Johnny is not.
The dragon is...Ezekiel?????? That’s the right level of wise wry mentor who’s very shady and will kill you, so he’s a dragon now. And when he tells Peter he’s the (other) chosen one, Peter full stop doesn’t believe him. This disbelief goes on extensively. Peter is not a fate-oriented person. Johnny would love to hear about the fate thing, but no one will tell him.
Literally I’m just going to add more chronologically unmoored medievalish shit to Merlin now to cram more of the cast in. There’s some kind of town crier/herald outfit, and Jonah is their boss. He’s just out in the road yelling sometimes even though he can delegate that. The buglers otherwise known as Bugle staff named Peter’s vigilante persona the Spider, which was supposed to sound menacing but is in practice also cool. This is out-of-universe fairly equivalent to Merlin’s real name as a neat two-syllable animal word and possible title. In-universe maybe I’d elbow out Emrys and just use this. Merlin is already very servants-don’t-work-like-that, so Betty just also has two jobs for no reason so she can knock elbows with them.
MJ is the court jester and knows absolutely everything, which is a dramatic mid-game reveal that isn’t exactly foreshadowed so much as always possible while carefully obscured from the viewer (the reader). Before this she’s already a Wise Fool, Shakespeare-ways archetype character, it’s just not clear how much. She is the most important character in Homestuck Merlin Spider.
Every ship is real for at least 30 seconds. Most of the extended FF cast are either magical antagonists or weird nobles.
Ben????? (Grimm, I mean. Ben Parker is dead. Ben Reilly is a recurring episodic plot.) This show was painfully formulaic and would simply not keep someone with any version of his deal in the main cast, but he’s a full quarter of the FF so. A magical accident approximated his rock body deal. Maybe specifically tying him to ~the magic of the land~. And then, uh. Wandering the country is too satellite-like. Hiding out in a forbidden castle wing is interesting but doesn’t do him justice. So I guess it’s a come and go semivoluntary transformation thing that’s kept secret? Rock werewolf. Were-rock. Good opportunity to fake out like you’re going to do a monster of the week plot, and then he contributes to the tension to abolish the magic ban.
Knights?? Wyatt is there from the beginning, being tall and reassuring (holding a sword edition). Not sure how him or his immediate ancestors got to Europe and then ended up this involved with the local nobility, but it was probably exciting. And Flash, or he’s an early addition. Either way he’s from the same village as Peter and is approximately White’s Kay, except directed at the wizard instead of the future king, and otherwise you can completely superimpose their comic dynamic including the fanboying over the secret identity angle, which is entertainingly seditious. ...Others. I don’t know enough FF characters for this. I’ve accidentally implied the eventual addition of Bennet Brant, but his evil sorcerer of the week energy is very strong, so maybe not. Randy eventually because I already implied the Robertsons and can see it.
This is so long, covers nothing, and explains none of the namechecks. Using both these characters’ franchises in one fusion is too much stuff. I keep not talking about the core relationship because it’s just. Like That. I don’t feel like I need to elaborate on the Merthur dynamic, even transposed on a different ship. It’s Just Like That.

Bonkai Preview
This just came to me, so I decided to make it a preview.
“Bonnie Bennett, as I live and breathe.”
Bonnie’s lips parted, she felt something inside of herself, a fire on her skin, a fire in her belly, a hatred and a - a - ferocity, a danger, maybe even a longing? that felt awfully, terribly familiar and yet she didn’t recognize the man in front of her, didn’t recognize his knowing gaze or smug smirk, nothing about him registered in her mind but she felt compelled to hate him, even though she could feel that hatred met something different to them.
She’d been done with the supernatural for years. “I don’t know what witch business---”
“Oh no, no, no,” said the man, walking up to her, his eyebrows furrowed. The closer he came to her, the harder Bonnie’s heart started to pound. She had the irrational fear that he could hear it and she willed herself to not be so agitated, so bothered, so ... hot.
“So you know me?” she asked.
