This is just a random question, but do you have any Josh fic recommendations?

Not to like…shamelessly plug my own fic but I have a Josh x Vampire!Reader fic called I See Hell in Your Eyes on my Masterlist that I think is pretty good…👉🏻👈🏻 I also have a one shot called Blue Christmas which is a friends to lovers/office romance that I’m pretty proud of…

But besides me, here are some other wonderful writers:

@readyforthegarden Kait has a Vampire!Josh fic that I adore that’s still a WIP but she also has a ton of one shots that are to die for!

@sinners-go-to-drink-the-wine Anna has a Josh series centered around fratboy! Josh and he means so much to me I miss him.

@earthlysorrows Madi is like, a GOD-TIER Josh writer she’s written some of my favorite fics ever in this fandom and she deserves all the praise in the world for it!

@losfacedevil Crystal my love writes Josh so well and her brain is always working and creating different scenarios for him and I am frequently in her DMs asking for more!

@gracev0609 If you haven’t read Graces Iced Chai universe fics you are missing out they’re so fucking sweet (and sexy whew) I am constantly going 🥺 while reading them. She also has a collab with Crystal that involves breeding kink!Josh so 👀

@stardustvanfleet Liana has a fic called Rediscovery that is so fucking hot while being incredibly sweet I need to go reread it!!

@gretavanlace Lace has been writing for forever here and some of her Josh fics are still my favorites to this day. (It’s honestly embarrassing how many times I’ve read her Josh Christmas fic from last year i just love it so much and this is my formal request for a sequel in that mini universe 👀)

My inability to write southern accent organically due to English not being my first language: 👁️👄👁️

I totally understand how that can be super difficult because it is a lot of quick paced talking and slang, so it's not an easy dialect to work with if you're not used to it firsthand. It's easy for me simply because that's my accent, and I grew up around it so I have an easier time transcribing that into print.

I imagine it's difficult when English isn't your first language. It's hard enough to be able to learn how to speak a second language on top of what you already know, and it's even harder when you have to account for regional accents and dialects. They don't teach you how to interact with those things in the educated setting.

If it makes it easier for you, don't bother trying to make your version of the story be written in such a way that the accent has to be written out. You can make it easier on yourself by implying that that's the tone that he's speaking in and save yourself the trouble of having to figure out how to make it feel "accurate". If it's easier for you to write your comfort scenarios without making the dialogue match mine, that's perfectly alright. You can do it whatever way works best for you. After all, you're writing these lil' drabbles for yourself. You're making it because you like the story and you want to place yourself there.

Do whatever feels more organic and natural for you and it won't take away from it. However, if you get really frustrated and you are determined to make this feel natural to story setting, I would be happy to look over anything that you write and edit your dialogue if you want me to. I wouldn't mind. If you have any questions about how these things sound naturally in a way that isn't a silly caricature, I can answer that as well if you need me to. I don't have a lot to do these days so editing something wouldn't be hard.

Every now and again, I do read my stories out loud for reading times on a few different Discord servers. So, if you're interested in hearing me talk about the story in the way that it works in my own accent that way, that's always an option, too. It's been a little bit since I've done it but I'm always happy to read, but definitely come to @/sapphireicecream's server if you're ever interested in that.
