Let's start with Darius, who I think is the easiest one to have ideas for, since he is the only one age gets stated in the show itself. We know that he is 12 at the start (both from the novels and the information released for s2) and then later in the seasons (5? Don't remember) Brand says that Darius is 13, so his birthday is in the 6 months timeframe from the fall of Jurassic World in December. So between January and May/June(?). I'd exclude the first month period as that is S2 when we got the ages and I personally think his birthday to be closer to the time of s3, also he gives me more warm/summerish vibes, maybe its the yellow jacket fault. So I headcanon his birthday to be in May.

Premise:

In 2023, the Camp Fam’s lives could not be any better, Darius and Ben are dating; Kenji and Brooklynn plan to get married; Casey and April are planning the same; and Yaz and Sammy are married. Life could not be any better than before…until April and Caroline (Casey’s mother) are kidnapped by Ultratech, a company that plans to rebuild Biosyn from the ground up again and build an army of human-Dino hybrids with April’s blood. Combing through every single episode of Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous for Yasammy moments to write meta analysis about part 7 (master post with all previous and future parts)

I'm back with the clips from the long-awaited season 5 so let's get into it!

I love the fact that, once the camp fam is (seemingly) safe and well-fed in Kon's investor suites, Yaz starts to relax and talk about going to sleep, she looks directly at Sammy as she says that she's going to bed because Sammy has been her main source of comfort and calm and as such Sammy is inextricably linked with relaxation, calm, and comfort in Yaz's mind, Yaz wants to share her feeling of relief and safety with her favorite person, which Sammy is quick to respond to with excitement

I think it's really cute that Yaz and Sammy both snuck out at the same time to go sleep in the common room, their conversation in this scene is a subtle reminder that they have all been through some really traumatic things, Sammy says she's not used to sleeping alone anymore and Yaz agrees that it doesn't feel safe, all of the kids have this shared trauma but Yaz and Sammy most often go to each other to talk about their own personal trauma, and then there's the sweet moment where Sammy is offering to have a sleepover with Yaz so they can both be more comfortable (before they realize the others had the same idea) that I love, it's very clear that Sammy cares a lot about Yaz's comfort and safety and spending time with her

Yaz and Sammy chilling together and playing cards while everyone's running around doing their own thing? Adorable!

Also, remember in part 5 of this post series when I said that Yaz was funneling her energy into helping Kenji with Brooklyn so she wouldn't have to think about her feelings for Sammy? Well now they're both doing it! Seriously, Yaz and Sammy are both such hopeless romantic dorks and, while I think they are genuinely happy about Kenji and Brooklyn being together, they really throw themselves into this whole date planning thing because they both have all of this pent-up romantic energy that isn't going anywhere because Yaz is in the throws of processing her queerness and Sammy is clearly holding herself back until Yaz is ready so she doesn't freak Yaz out (I'll talk more about that in later posts), which means that setting up and focusing on Kenji's date with Brooklyn is a welcome distraction for both of them

Can we talk about the physical affection for a second? Yaz and Sammy are, like, constantly touching each other's arms and hands or doing little shoulder nudges like Yaz does when Kenji compliments their decorations, they already look like a couple when they come up to Kenji and Yaz starts talking about "seeing new sides" to Kenji, Sammy is holding her arm with both hands, talk about dropping hints! They also physically check on and comfort each other all the time, like when Yaz falls from Ben's shoulders or when the earthquakes start and they pterodactyls get upset

They are also clearly first in each other's thoughts because when Yaz realizes that two of them have gone missing she lists Sammy first and when Sammy and Darius are looking for the others Sammy calls out to Yaz first, which makes sense because they are both very important to each other and I think they've been spending a LOT of time thinking about each other lately

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Yaz is a real ride or die! She didn't think twice about grabbing a stray pipe and ambushing a fucking nothosaurus to protect Sammy (more on this general vibe in future posts)

Yaz and Sammy jumping at the chance to be on the same team for the chip mission is super cute and the back-and-forth and banter they have going on the whole time gives me life, Yaz's face when Sammy asks why they're hiding if there no one for the BRADs to notify and they aren't lethal is priceless, it just screams, "You are so smart," it's the mutual respect and admiration for me

I'd like to take a second to appreciate the romantic golden hour lighting they put on during the scene where Yaz is admiring the forest and Sammy says maybe they could go to a real forest some time, this conversation feels very much like a metaphor for their relationship, here they are mutually enjoying their current situation, Yaz thinking about how it would be even better if circumstances were different, and Sammy implying that those more ideal circumstances are in their future, this comes at a point when Yaz is starting to wish that she could be even closer to Sammy whereas Sammy has clearly been thinking about having a closer relationship with Yaz for a long time

Both in this scene and in the campfire scene we see that Sammy won't let Yaz put herself down (a habit Yaz is still clearly working on breaking) and gazing lovingly at Yaz as she speaks, Sammy is really trying to drop some hints for Yaz that she is very interested in her

SEASON FIVE SPOILERS

final full thoughts on s5

i went into this season excited, but not expectant of the quality of seasons 1-3. i knew it was gonna be better than s4 but i wasn’t sure by how much. that being said i was completely blown away by this season. it was everything i could’ve wanted from a final season and more.

this shows biggest strength has always been its characters. and this season is an exemplar of that. every character is so well written this season, especially kenji. kenji’s arc through this season just proves why he’s one of my favorites. he can be obnoxious and entitled, but even when he has everything he’s ever wanted, he chooses the camp fam. i love that he also didn’t come to his senses on his own. he needed help from mae, bumpy, ben, like a real person would.

i loved the dynamics between the nublar six this time around. wether it was focusing on established relationships like brooklynn and darius, or new ones like ben and yaz, it always felt very genuine and there was a very real sense of love present.

obviously the most important thing that happened this season was YASAMMY CANON. literally this blew my mind. the best relationship in the show finally payed off after five seasons in the most satisfying way possible. the kiss was amazing and i’m really glad we got to see them just being girlfriends for a bit. a lot of endgame ships just build up for the whole show and then end with them becoming canon. but i loved that we got to see them dating for a little bit.

also reintroducing brand, dave, and roxie was a great choice and their dynamic added so much to this season. i literally missed them so much.

i’m not going to analyze each specific character because i’m lazy but every character had their time to shine. sammy’s scene with mr kon at the end, ben being yaz’s wingman, ben freeing bumpy, brooklynn and darius’ scene, kenji and mae looking out for each other. everyone was great.

now i’m gonna talk about the plot. at first i was worried about the dinosaurs being controlled thing, and it’s honestly still not my favorite, but the action and emotion behind said action made everything work. i loved the two separate plots. the camp fam trying to stop mr kon from mantah corp island, and kenji and his dad on nublar.

i never would have guessed that we would go back to nublar, or that we would spend so much time there, but i absolutely loved it. it brought back so many memories from earlier seasons and tied together some loose ends, like the drone and distress beacon.

the final stand between the watering hole dinos and mantah dino’s was seriously so cool. i know it was ridiculous but that’s kind of why i loved it. it was like completely nonsensical dinosaur battle royale and it was a blast to watch. the spino got some cool moments and the eaties got their happy ending. some awesome action and an all around great climax.

one of the best parts of season 5 was daniel kon as the villain. so easy to hate. he was great not only for the plot but he was more involved with the characters than any other villain. i don’t think it’ll be too controversial for me to say he’s the best villain in the jurassic franchise.

and my final compliment to this season is that it was very true to itself, despite backlash to season 4. i’m really glad they didn’t shy away from any of the concepts introduced in s4 that were disliked. it would’ve felt out of place to just immediately drop brookenji, the brads, and kash. but instead s5 found a way to make them more believable/likeable, or ease them out. like how kash was killed off pretty early, but in a believable way that still developed his character.

anyways this season was a blast and just such a beautiful end. these characters have been begging for resolution since day one, and finally giving it to them was immensely gratifying. this show will always have a special place in my heart. i’ve been obsessed with it for two years, and so i’m understandably very nervous to fall out of love with it, but i’m happy it ended so well.

We finally reached our rich boy. He was probably the easiest one becasue I already had a certainty with him.

He is an Aries to me. You may argue that he should be a Leo but no, now I don't know if it's the Leo's I've met that are weird but he doesn't fit at all with them. He is much more like my Aries friends. So that was an easy point to start. The month it should be was also fairly clear to me. April. It would be just after the Mitch and Tiff event. His birthday would be the first on the island with my headcanons no matter the date, which I actually jumped around with the numbers a bit. If I'm good with him it would be either on the 7th or the 11th. But then do we really want to miss the opportunity to have a Fools baby. A 1st of April, April fools, a joke. Yeah I know I'm evil. A bit of a prankster myself maybe(no, no I'm not). The idea was just so funny to me that it is what I highlighted (wow this i a weird word ok) in my notes. April fool's baby. He likes pranks and joking around. He is the one to light up the show with his dumbassery that we love. Like sure he can also be intelligent and profound and say deep things but other times he just makes you wonder if under all that gelled floof there's a brain or not. Anyway I am side-tracking.
