late regression is genuinely so terrifying and i feel like its not talked about enough. im fully verbal but my stutter has been getting worse and im experiencing verbal shutdown more often. my fine motor skills are getting worse, i got out of occupational therapy in middle school but im starting to regress back to a point similar to where i was at before occupational therapy. its getting harder to mask and im scared.

I started this over a year ago and came back to it periodically, but I decided to just finally finish it. It’s morphed, undone itself, and transformed many times in the process of illustrating it. Sincerely, I considered giving up on the piece. I am glad I didn’t despite its awkwardness; I admit that it doesn’t sit in the eye well. But somehow I feel that it suits the piece and what it means.
I am, if anything, relieved to have finished an illustration finally. It’s been nearly eight months since my last. Prints are available in my shop. (I also have mini prints for $5cad/$3.40usd!)

On days when you're overwhelmed and everything feels like it's too much,  it's okay to take a step back and take care of yourself. Here's how I do it!
▪︎Break down your to-do list into smaller tasks. If you have ten things to do, split the list in half, then pick one or two that will be easy to complete. Sometimes when I feel stressed about everything I need to do, it helps to start small! Even if you only get half a task done before you need a break, it will make the list shorter overall!
▪︎Take a shower/bath. Getting clean and dressing in clean clothes after helps reset our brain, which can help us calm down when our brains are too loud.
▪︎ Turn off social media for a day. I cheat sometimes and still watch YouTube during the break, but if your feeds are stressing you out there is no shame in turning them off for a day! I promise you'll feel better without the constant negative posts.
▪︎ Talk to someone you trust. If you need a distraction, text a friend or loved one. It's easy to feel isolated when overwhelmed, but you are never alone 💛
▪︎ Take a deep breath and sit outside for five minutes. It's easy to spiral when our circumstances are out of our control. During these times, it helps me to take one, deep breath, then sit outside in nature for a bit. It's almost like meditation, watching the grass move in the wind, or following an insect in flight. Sitting and remembering that the nature around us, what we see and feel, is real.

being a phys + mentally disabled regressor.. putting stickers on pill containers and mobility aids.. carrying around "childrens" water bottles and cups, plushies and comfort items.. themed bandages and compression gear.. stimming and exaggerated behavior.. pointing out objects that relate to your interests.. phone straps and lanyards.. carrying around medical items in your bag.. decorating your bag with pins and patches of your interests, keychains of characters.. bubble-baths when showering isnt an option, bringing toys into bathtime.. reading bedtime stories, listening to child-friendly music to calm yourself.. eating interest-shaped safe foods.. struggling to play "normally" but playing in your own way - making up stories, lining up toys, counting objects, watching television, coloring.. being yourself in every possible way.
