#let's say Arthur finds out in part 2 and then the knights find out in the dark tower

I believe Season 5 of Merlin, could have been improved simply by altering one variable; Arthur should have found out about Merlin's magic in the two part opener. I wouldn't have minded if he'd had the exact same reaction that he had in the finale, but at least then we'd have an entire season of him knowing the truth. It's not only about knowing Merlin's secret, I would have loved to see an entire season where Arthur played an active role in his destiny and was fully aware of what was to come. We saw four seasons of Merlin battling it alone, I would have liked a couple of episodes where they were battling it together.

In "Excalibur"
The black knight arrives as expected. Arthur this time lifts the gauntlet before any other knight can do so, much to Merlin's dismay, but at least he now knows what to do.
Kilgharrah: (watching Merlin arrive) Oh, until you finally deign to see me, young warlock.
Merlin: I'm sorry I didn't answer your calls. Many things happened.
Kilgharrah: (analyzes Merlin and realizes) Another old mind in a young body.
Merlin: (confused) What?
Kilgharrah: You are not from this time, are you young warlock?
Merlin: (sighs) I should have known you'd notice. Look, if you're going to give me the destiny and coin speech, I swear that-
Kilgharrah: I find it useless to talk to you about something you already have very present. However, I'm sure you didn't come here just to greet me. If so you would have come much sooner.
Merlin: (takes out the sword Gwen gave him) Arthur, the Once and the Future King of your prophecy, is going to duel with a wraith. It's not in your best interest for him to die, so I need you to reforge this sword so that Arthur won't die in combat-
Kilgharrah: I'll help you.
Merlin: I remind you that your revenge is with Uther, not with… Wait, you'll help me? 😧
Kilgharrah: You have a very strong argument. I can't deny that.
Merlin: And you won't try to convince me to free you in exchange either?
Kilgharrah: I don't want you to see my help as conditional, young warlock. I imagine that's why you've avoided coming to see me. I'll just ask you one thing. Where you come from, am I free?
Merlin: Yes… (Thinking) After you almost turned Camelot into ashes.
Kilgharrah: That's all I need to know. (Raises the sword towards him with magic) A sword forged with my assistance will have great power.
Merlin: I know.
Kilgharrah: Normally I'd say you can only guess, but in this case I know you are very aware, and yet there's still so much you don't know.
Merlin: I know that in the wrong hands this sword can cause great evil. I won't let that happen.
Kilgharrah: That's not what I meant. (comes closer) Do you know why you and Arthur are two sides of the same coin?
Merlin: (rolls his eyes) Yes, yes, the prophecy. We are the half that makes us whole. Arthur is my destiny. I already know all that. 😒
Kilgharrah: Indeed, but the curious thing about the sides of a coin is that, despite being literally glued together, they never see each other.
Merlin: (tired) I don't have time for this. Are you going to forge the sword or not?
Kilgharrah: (forges the sword) Hear my words, the sword must be wielded by Arthur and him alone. You must promise.
Merlin: I promise.
Kilgharrah: (returns the sword already forged to Merlin with magic)
Merlin: (looking at it wistfully) It's just as I remember it (looks up at Kilgharrah again, smiling) Thank you, Kilgharrah. (leaves)
Kilgharrah: Any time, young warlock. (Thinking) It is when the sides of the coin see each other that tragedies occur.
Time skip. Right after Merlin gave the sword to Arthur and just before he duels the black knight.
Merlin: (finishes putting Arthur his armor on) Ready, sire.
Arthur: (smirking) Won't you give me a hug?
Merlin: What?! 😳
Arthur: For luck, of course.
Merlin: (very red and confused) Since… since when are you so fond of hugs? (thinking) You were never this affectionate before...
Arthur: (opens up) I admit I didn't always like them. Wrong, I always liked them, but, as a prince, I'm not supposed to be affectionate. At least that's what my father always said. "Physical contact with royalty is a privilege, it cannot be given lightly" that was his phrase.
Merlin: (realizes, sad) The king doesn't… doesn't hug you much, does he? (Thinking) Now that I think about it, I don't remember a single time he did it.
Arthur: (thinking back) I think the last time he did it I was… 5 years old? Oh, don't look at me like that. I understand why he thought that was the best way to raise me, but it wasn't until recently that I realized… that's not how I want to live the rest of my life, or how I would raise my kids, you know? I don't want to deny myself the giving or receiving of affection, at least not when it comes to the people I care about.
Merlin: (understanding) That's why you hug Morgana more often now.
Arthur: And you. (Extends his arms) So? Will you give me my lucky hug or not?
Merlin: (laughs softly) As if you need it. (but he hugs him, thinking) I'm glad you trust me enough to tell me this and that you want to change. We've never... we've never hugged this much before... It's... it feels good. (melts in the hug)
Arthur: (thinking) I thought I'll never have you like this ever again... (pulls him closer) I don't want this to end. Gods, let me hold him forever. Please
Merlin: (thinking, scolding himself) Stop it! What will Arthur think? (gently separates the hug and says) There, you can go now.
Arthur: I don't think that's enough luck.
Merlin: (confused) Huh?
Arthur: I'm going to need this too (takes Merlin's neckerchief off)
Merlin: What?! 😨 What are you doing?! (He tries to get the neckerchief back from him) Give it back! Arthur! 😠
Arthur: (raising the nekerchief and dodging all of Merlin's attempts to take it from him) I need all the luck I can get, Merlin. And what's luckier than a favor?
Merlin: (very red, but pretending to be upset) Yes, but that's supposed to be with the favor of a lady! Not my-That's not how it works!
Arthur: Would you prefer that I ask a Lady hers?
Merlin: That's not... You don't need it! 😡
Arthur: I could die.
Merlin: (raises his voice in sudden panic) You are not going to die! (Composes himself) Sorry.
Servant x: (enters) Sire, they are waiting for you.
Arthur: I'll be right away. (puts the neckerchief around his arm) Merlin, help me, will you?
Merlin: (ties the neckerchief around Arthur's arm, blushing)
Servant x: (gives Merlin a knowing smile and then turns to Arthur) Your highness (bows and leaves)
Merlin: (sighs, thinking) Great... more rumors...
Arthur: Will you be cheering for me? 😏
Merlin: (snorts) You wish. (Softens his expression) But I'll be there. Just to make sure you don't ruin my neckerchief, of course.
Arthur: (starts to leave, but turns to Merlin) My lady (bows with a flirtatious smile and leaves)
Merlin: (in shock with eyes wide open) What the…? (turns red with fury and embarrassment) This clotpole is making fun of me! 😡
Arthur wins, of course. Merlin was definitely not clapping and cheering loudly and he definitely did not blush furiously when Arthur decided to give back his neckerchief publicly.
"He is taking this joke too far" is all Merlin can think when he gets back to his chamers, but he sleeps with a smile on his face and the neckerchief curled in his hand.
In "The moment of truth"
In Arthur's chambers. Arthur writes at his desk.
Merlin: (enters without knocking) Arthur!
Arthur: (startled, spills the ink with which he was writing on the parchment)
Merlin: Sorry... 😅
Arthur: (sighs, thinking) Some things just never change. (Says) Be useful for once and bring me another scroll, will you?
Merlin: (hurries to take out another scroll and gives it to him)
Arthur: (takes the parchment) Any special reason why you decided to burst into my chambers so suddenly or did you just miss me? (moves his eyebrows flirtuosly)
Merlin: (blushes) I...(thinking, freaking out internally) WHAT IS HE DOING?!😳😱😫. (Says, nervous) I just wanted to ask you if you could give me a few days off so I can visit my mother, sire. (doesn't look at him in the eye)
Arthur: (frowns, concerned) Is something wrong? You seem anxious.
Merlin: It is nothing, my lord. I just miss seeing my mother. I haven't been able to see her since I came to the castle.
Arthur: I see, that's understandable. (He puts the parchment aside and stands to look Merlin right in the eye, seriously) Now the truth.
Merlin: (thinking) Damn it! (sighs, giving up and says) I got a letter from her recently. The village I come from, where my mother lives, is being attacked by raiders. I promise I won't be gone for long, just until I'm sure she's save. She's my mother, Arthur. I need-
Arthur: I understand. You have my permission.
Merlin: (smiles) Thank you, Arthur (About to leave)
Arthur: Oh, take this (throws him a bag with supplies)
Merlin: (looking at the bag) What...?
Arthur: (Searches the room and grabs another bag) And this (throws it at Merlin too) and this (goes to Merlin and hangs the last bag around his neck). Yep, that's all, let's go.
Merlin: (confused) Go where, Sire?
Arthur: To Ealdor together.
Merlin: What? No! (Drops all things) Arthur, you can't come with me. The king will not allow it.
Arrhur: Did you really think I'll let you go alone?
Merlin: (thinking) I mean, you did came with me before, but no so soon! (Says) But, Uther-
Arthur: Don't worry about it. I'll solve it.
Merlin: But I need to go alone!
Arthur: Why?
Merlin: (thinking) Because I need to be able to use magic without you watching me! (Says) I…
Arthur: (thinking) I don't know how advanced you are at your magic, I'm not going to risk something happening to you... And I have to reduce numbers. (snorts) I know you think highly of yourself, Merlin, but I don't think you can take down a mugger patch all on your own.
Merlin: (thinking) If you only knew... (Says) You don't have to do it.
Arthur: True, but I want to.
Merlin: (smiles) I know and I really apreaciate it. Truly. But it's not just a matter of want. Ealdor is in another Kingdom and if there was a word that the Prince of Camelot went there- (thinking) The treaty with Cenred will be broken and it would be my fault again.
Despite Arthur never telling Merlin this in his other life, he knows Arthur going to Ealdor to help him played a great part in that to happen. He remembers Uther was furious with Arthur when he got back and throw him in the dungeons for a week. When Arthur finally got out he had several bruises on his skin. It was the first time Merlin ever consider killing Uther if even for a moment. Arthur never hold any of that against Merlin but that didn't make him feel any less guilty. He can't make Arthur go through that again.
Arthur: No one has to know I'm the Prince. Plus we could take it as a trip to Ealdor and I can finally meet your mother.
Merlin: (confused) Why do you want to meet my mother?
Arthur: Can't I meet my manservant's family?
Merlin: (shuts his mouth helplessly, thinking) Oh, well, at least it'll just be Arthur and me.
Time skip. Outside the castle.
Merlin: (yelling at Arthur) YOU BROUGHT YOUR KNIGHTS?! 😡
Knight 1, 2, 3 and Leon: (standing awkwardly a few meters away of Arthur and Merlin)
Knight 1: He's yelling at the prince.
Knight 2: I think the servant doesn't like us very much.
Knight 3: I feel bad third.
Leon: I'm not even surprised anymore.
[Welcome to: ✨breaking the fourth wall space✨
Me: Hi!😊 I'm the author of this crazy story! An I created this little space so the characters can break the fourth wall, without affecting the trama! They will mostly use it just to complain to me though.
Knight 1, 2 and 3: (to the author) Hey! when are you going to give us names?! 😡
Me: (to the audience) See? (to the nameless knights) Well, I would but, you see. Normally I just give names when they... last.
Knights 1, 2 and 3: (who literally die in the "Le Morte d'Arthur" part) What does she mean? 🤨
End of ✨Breaking the fourth wall space✨]
Arthur: (To Merlin, but raising his voice so the knights hear him) Of course! We are going to carry out a formal inspection of Camelot's border (looking at Merlin meaningfully), or did you expect the King to send his only Prince and heir to the border alone, Merlin?
Merlin: Oh... Oh, right!(nods exaggeratedly and turns to the knights smiling, then looks back at Arthur with too much enthusiasm) Then we better hurry, my lord. (He gets on his mare)
Arthur: (gets on his horse too)
Time skip. Merlin and Arthur riding ahead and the rest of the knights riding a few meters behind.
Merlin: (Just loud enough so Arthur can hear) Did you tell them?
Arthur: Tell them what?
Merlin: 😑
Arthur: Of course (pauses) not.
Merlin: Do you realize that technically we will be invading the territory of a neighboring kingdom? Not only is it a delicate matter, it could escalate into a diplomatic conflict! That's why I told you-
Arthur: Don't worry, I have a plan.
Merlin: (opens his mouth)
Arthur: (cuts him) Before you ask me what the plan is, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. (Turns to give a look at the knights) That way they will have no choice but to obey me.
Knights: (feeling a chill down their spine)
Time skip. After two days of travel, they finally arrive at the border.
Knight 2: Uhm… Sire? Isn't this the border?
Arthur: No, it's ahead.
Knight 1: I'm sure we've already crossed the border.
Arthur: Do you claim to know more than me, Sir Innprudence?
Knight 1: No, sire (shuts up)
[Knight 1: (to the author) Sir Innprudence?! 😡 That's the best name you could come up with? Really?!
Me: (laughs a little) He he, yeah, I forgot I already named you in part 16.
Knight 1: I prefer Knight 1 😒.
Me: Too late, I already changed it 😈.
Sir Innprudence: NO! 😭]
In the forest of Escetir, near Ealdor. Arthur stops and dismounts his horse, so the others do too.
Leon: Have we reached the border yet, sire?
Arthur: Actually, we are technically in Escetir.
Knights: WHAT?!😱
Arthur: Yes, we're on a deck mission. I'll explain. Merlin, bring the bags.
Merlin: (brings the bags)
Arthur: (To the knights) Do you see the village there? (points to Ealdor)
Leon: Yes, sire.
Arthur: This is my manservant's home village and it's under attack by raiders. Our mission is to slay them all and protect this village.
Knights: ...
Merlin: Oh gods 🤦‍♂️
Arthur: As you know, it would be catastrophic if they were to find out the Prince and the Knights of Camelot were here. So (takes some clothes out of the bags) We're going to pretend to be mercenaries. (throws the clothes at each of them) and we will tell the villagers that we were paid to defend them.
Sir Innprudence: And who paid us?
Arthur: Merlin, of course.
Merlin: What?!😨 Arthur, no one is going to believe that!
Arthur: Why not? This is your native village, your mother lives here. You have more than enough reasons to want to protect Ealdor.
Merlin: And where did I supposely get the money from?!
Arthur: From your benevolent master, of course. That pays you very generously.
Merlin: You are mad! Completely mad! (Pointing to the knights) THIS is MADNESS!
Leon: Sire, you know that I support you no matter what, but you do understand you are basically asking us to betray the king, right?
Arthur: That's only if he finds out, which he is not going to do.
Sir Innprudence, knights 2 and 3: (hesitating whether or not to inform the king of what is happening)
Arthur: After all, everyone here crossed the border, so everyone here would be in trouble if the king ever found out. Although, of course, I would not receive such a severe punishment because I am the prince and unlike others I am not replaceable.
Knights: …
Leon: Count on us, sire 😊.
Merlin: (shouts) NO! (To Arthur) You are not going to do this! 😡
Arthur: (with feigned confusion) But, Merlin, it was you who asked for my help strongly, don't you remember?
Merlin: (jaw drops at Arthur's audacity, thinking) This son of a- (says) That's not true! (To the Knights) I didn't ask for anything, I swear!
Leon: Don't worry, Merlin, we understand how things happened. (wraps an arm around Merlin) Surely you only asked him for money to hire the mercenaries, but his highness decided to come himself to defend the village for you.
Merlin: No! I didn't ask for anything at all!
Knight 2: (to Knight 3) He is the favorite for sure.
Sir Innprudence: (to Leon, making him let go of Merlin in panic) Don't touch him! Do you want to die?!
Knight 3: We better change.
Knights: (start changing)
Merlin: I'm not...! I didn't...! (tries to explain, but no knight listens)
Arthur: (smiling, amused) What are you waiting for, Merlin? (Points to his mercenary clothes so Merlin dresses him)
Merlin: (goes to Arthur and changes his clothes, thinking) Oh, you're going to pay for this Arthur Pendragon.
Meanwhile in Ealdor.
Kanen: (on his horse, grabbing the harvest sacks) What's this? Where's the rest of it?
Village chief: (on the ground, picking up the vegetables they made him drop) I only kept back what we need to survive.
Kanen: (mockingly) Survive? (threatenly) I'll be back in one week, farmer, and I want to see all of it.
Hunith: (Runs furiously to Kanen) You can't take our food! Our children will starve! I won't let you do this! (Tries to take the harvest sacks) You're not taking any of it!
Kanen: (hits her and Hunith falls to the ground)
Merlin: (arriving on his mare, shouts) Mom! (Furious, mutters a spell) Miere hors.
Kanen's horse: (gets upset, raising his legs, making Kanen fall off him)
Hunith: (hurries to grab the harvest sacks and runs)
Arthur and knights: (just behind Merlin, they get off their horses and attack the raiders)
Merlin: (gets off his mare and runs to Hunith) Mom! (cradles her face) Are you okay?
Hunith: (very surprised and happy) Merlin! What are you doing here?
Kanen: (gets up and rushes towards Merlin and Hunith with his sword, about to sly them)
Arthur: (blocks the attack with excalibur) Don't you dare... (Breaks Kanen's sword with excalibur) even think about it!
Villagers: (looking between fear and amazement)
Kanen: (seeing himself outmatched, decides to retreat) You will pay for this with your lives! (gets on a horse nearby) All of you! (Looks down at Hunith and smirks) I'll see you later, sweetheart.
Merlin: (about to jump beat Kanen up, enraged)
Arthur: (Stops him by putting an arm in front of him)
Kanen: (leaves with the raiders that survived)
Arthur: (Thinking, coldly) He'll be back with more, perfect. (Looks at the bodies lying there, thinking) 295.
Hunith: (hugging Merlin) My son, how good it is to see you, but you shouldn't be here.
Merlin: I came as soon as I knew what was happening (points at Arthur) and I brought help.
Arthur: (introduces himself) Nice to meet you, Hunith of Ealdor, my name is Arthur. Merlin hired me and my men to defend this village.
Hunith: Arthur? Like Prince Arthur?
Arthur: A very popular name, indeed.
Hunith: (smiles) I sincerely thank you for what you're doing, Arthur. You are very chivalrous for a mercenary. (sees the knights in the distance, who are helping the women and children) You all seem very chivalrous to be mercenaries.
Arthur: Uh... We get paid well.
Will: (approaches Merlin) You're still up to the same old tricks? I thought I told you we don't want your kind here.
Merlin: ...
Will: (confused) Merlin?
Merlin: (suddenly breaks down crying)
Arthur: (angry, to Will, ready to beat him up right there) What's wrong with you?! 😡
Will: (in panic, worried) I was kidding! Merlin, that's how we always mess with each other! I did not mean-
Merlin: (his crying turns into laughter) Ha! I got you. (Hugs Will) I missed you too, Will. (Thinking) I missed you so much.
Arthur: (coughs, definitely not jealous) Merlin, gather the villagers, I need to talk to them.
Merlin: (pulls away from the hug) Yes, right away. (about to leave)
Will: Wait. You let him give you orders? I thought you hired him.
Merlin: (in realization and smiles evilly) It's true. (hits Arthur arms) You! How insolent! Is this how you treat your employer? You gather the villagers!
Arthur: (About to yell at him, but remembers that Hunith and Will are there and stops himself) Sorry, I thought you might want to do it yourself. I'll do it right away. (Thinking) Wait until we return to Camelot, you dollophead.
Merlin: (thinking) Oh, this is going to be fun.
...
I know this kind of feels like a filler, but it's important I swear! What did Kilgharrah meant? Can Merlin save Will this time? Will the rest of the Kmights get to have names? Find out in the next episode of ✨"Merlin: the Mistress in denial" ✨

Part 4 of Merlin as Robin Hood
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9, Part 10, Part 11, Part 12
The results are in, it was pretty neck and neck so i’ll try to get the other option posted pretty quick here too. This part gets a little dark towards the end so warning for injuries and angst for the future (whats merthur without a little trauma, you cant do hurt/comfort without the hurt).
Gwaine: *carrying a crate of fresh apples into the small clearing they’ve made into a hideout* I just don’t get it. Why would he risk getting captured just to see someone who would run him through first chance he got?
Lancelot: *smiling a little to himself* Oh, you don’t know the first thing about it, friend. You should have seen them when Merlin worked as his manservant. He would spend all night saving the castle with magic just to yelled at all morning by Arthur because he forgot to polish one piece of armor.
Gwaine: *he takes a seat on his makeshift hammock and takes a swig from his suspiciously ale-smelling water skin* I just don’t get why he cares so much about him. We do good work here stealing from rich douchebags and giving to people in need. I dont see what is so different about Arthur, isnt he the worst of the worst for rich douchebags? Merlin himself calls him a prat.
Lancelot: oh I see whats going on…
Gwaine: what?
Lancelot: You’re jealous.
Gwaine: No, I’m not. Look, Merlin’s great. I just don’t like him risking everything for someone who has proven they wont do the same.
Lancelot: and what? you would be better for him?
Gwaine: I could be, at least I wouldnt toss him out to fend for himself in the woods all alone.
Merlin: *returning from his forest meeting with Arthur catching the tail end of the conversation* Gwaine, I appreciate the sentiment, but no offense you werent there and *turning to lancelot* neither were you Lance. You don’t know what went down or the hard choices we ALL had to make. so respectfully butt out of it.
Gwaine and Lancelot: *feeling guilty for getting caught* sorry merls
Merlin: its alright. Let’s just take stock of everything we got so we can distribute it-
Merlin is cut off by a yell in the woods and they all go quiet.
Lancelot: Merlin, your magic is still in place, right? No one should be able to find us.
Merlin: Yes, no one can find us unless we allow them to. Stay here, it’s probably just a lost traveller.
Gwaine: No, you shouldnt go alone. We’ll go with you.
Merlin: If its a traveller by themself then it will be better to go alone to not spook them. I have my magic to back me up and i’ll shout if they are injured or need help. Stay here.
Merlin walks into the woods alone out of the magical safety of the hideout.
Gwaine: I dont have a good feeling about this…
Meanwhile in the woods, Gwen is searching desperately around the area largely covered by trees that look the exact same.
Gwen: *to herself* c’mon gwen focus! Did he say the trees with the fruit above or below the leaves?
Merlin: *appearing from the woods like the forest druid he is at heart* I actually said the trees with the blue berries and white blossoms. I think below the leaves means they are safe to eat.
Gwen: *running to Merlin and throwing her arms around him desperately* Merlin!
Merlin: *from inside gwen’s tight bear hug* As much as I appreciate the hug, do you want to tell me why you are in the woods alone trying to find me?
Gwen: *releasing Merlin from her death grip* Merlin, you are in danger! I came from the castle as quick as I could to warn you-
Merlin: Gwen! Gwen! It’s okay! I just got away from the knights, I’m fine. Better than fine actually. Arthur saved my life…
Gwen: *trying to get a word in but Merlin has started excitedly rambling about Arthur* No, Merlin. Listen to me.
Merlin:…and the way he looked at the knight that tried to kill me, Gwen, it was like he wanted to murder HIM. Can you believe it?
Gwen: Merlin!
Merlin: *Finally realizing something isn’t right and looking around the forest* Wait, we aren’t alone.
Gwen: That’s what i’ve been trying to tell you, Merlin! The king sent Arthur as a distraction. Arthur doesn’t even know. Uther hired a witchfinder with a really powerful magical tracking amulet. You’re the biggest magical target in the vicinity. Its going to lead them right to you! You have to run, get as far as you can!
Merlin: Gwen, I cant leave Arthur. He’ll die without me.
Gwen: He’ll die if you die. You have to go!
Merlin: Fine, but I’m scrying everyday to make sure he’s-
Merlin is cut off by an arrow plunging its way into his side. He falls onto Gwen who tries to keep him standing.
Merlin: Gwen, get out of here! Find Lance and Gwaine, they’re just beyond those trees. They wont find you there. You cant be caught with me.
Gwen: Merlin!
Merlin: Gwen, go!
Gwen takes off into the woods in the direction of the hideout. Merlin falls to his knees and calls his magic up but his eyes only flicker gold for a second before dimming. Collapsing all the way to the ground, Merlin sees black boots approach him from in front of him. Merlin doesnt have the strength to raise his head but he knows if he did, he would be met with the satisfied face of the witchfinder.
Witchfinder: So you’re the great and powerful Emrys, huh? I thought you’d be harder to find.
Merlin feels one of the black boots make contact with his injured side and everything goes black.
Sorry to leave you all on a cliffhanger but I had to do it. Next part will be a flashback to the magic reveal and then we’ll see how Merlin Hood gets out of this sticky situation.

SHANA HAPPY PRIDE U AWESOME LADY! Can I please maybe get some merlin content? Either time travel Ygraine or something else entirely!
a continuation of 1 2 3 4
His mother is here.
Not an illusion, or a ghost, but his actual mother - confirmed by his father and his knights and Gaius.
She looks like him. Or he looks like her, he supposes. He's fruitlessly searched for himself in his father's face enough times that seeing himself so easily in her is almost jarring.
They have the same hair, they same eyes, the same lips. She scrunches her nose and scowls and it's like looking into a mirror, not even necessarily what she looks like but how she moves.
It explains a lot of looks he's gotten from his father over the years over seemingly innocuous gestures and comments.
After ordering Gaius to find some wizards, she insists on going for a walk in the woods, since too many people seeing her could cause a commotion and she insists that if she has to look at his father's face she's going to beat it.
He'd thought his father was the strong willed one between them. In his mind, his mother had always been docile, because that's the only way he thought anyone could manage a life alongside his father. The reality is better, and more entertaining.
Merlin is still here, trailing awkwardly behind them, but Arthur doesn't tell him to leave because a part of him is anxious over being left alone with his mother.
"Sorry about that display in the throne room," she says, as if reading his thoughts. "Sometimes Uther needs some sense knocked into him, for the good the kingdom. And our marriage."
"It's okay," he says, because it's not like she'd given him more than bruises. "Did you - did you mean it? What you said about magic?"
"Oh, Arthur," she sighs, squeezing his arm. "I'm so sorry you grew up without it. You'd understand if you'd been raised how I wanted you raised."
"How was that?" he asks, desperate and clumsy and not caring because he wants to know so badly.
She softens, looking at him with something warm and affectionate that he's only caught glimpses of behind his father's eyes. "I understand that she changed, after my - my death. But Nimueh was my best friend. You would grown up with magic in every facet of your life, it would have been there in kitchen helping the bread rise and on the training grounds to treat your wounds, it would have been - did you know, I was pregnant before?"
He looks at her, wide eyed, then shakes his head. He knows so little about his mother, only what other people have told him, and so few people are willing to speak of her and upset his father.
"A few times, actually," she continues, mouth twisting bitterly. "But this one got rather far along, we thought we were going to finally - but it wasn't to be. But we were so hopeful, already planning, and Nimueh had carved and enchanted these wooden butterflies to fly above the baby's basinet, to keep them entertained. I still have them, because after, she said to keep them, that one day I would have a child and I'd need them." She lets out a watery laugh. "I imagine Uther had them destroyed, so you never got their benefit. But that's what magic is, Arthur. It's just another way for the people around us to love us, even if it's a bit differently."
His throat is dry and he doesn't know what to say, but he licks his lips and forced out, "I probably could have used it. I was a fussy baby. Really - really, just, always crying, never sleeping through the night, I always needed someone's attention. I apparently drove several nursemaids to tears."
"Did you really?" she asks, trying to laugh, but it comes out eager, and he can't blame her for it.
The same reason that he knows nothing about her is why she'll know nothing about him, why the only way she has to know what he was like as a baby is if he tells her.
She dies giving birth to him, after all.

when your servant is a little shite

Then Merlin looks at Gaius, who’s sitting there, eyeing him as if he knows what Merlin is going to do.
‘Merlin, no’
‘Merlin yes’

Merlin tests the limits of Arthur’s patience.

PART 1 (you're here), PART 2, PART 3, PART 4, PART 5, PART 6
-----------------------
It was another day of chores for Merlin. He sighs solemnly as he lazily mops the floor. He really wishes he didn’t have to, he’s tired of stopping yesterday’s weekly attempt at ending Arthur’s life. He wants another hour of sleep in his bed.
After tiredly wiping his eyes, he spends the next five minutes contemplating, before he eventually says, “Oh, what the hell” and drops the mop on the ground. It clunks loudly, sound echoing in the hall. It joins the sad, half-mopped floor next to a bucket of dirty water. Merlin doesn’t care, leaving his work unfinished. He doesn’t even bother to clean up.
He decides to spend his time on the windowsill instead, looking off to the field where Arthur is training. He looks so striking, even from afar. Moving swiftly to land on his opponent.
When Arthur gives a particularly harsh blow, he catches Merlin’s eyes. Merlin waves at him, and Arthur waves back, right after he knocks another knight off from his right. Merlin smiles dreamily, staring at Arthur’s handsome face. He looks so handsome, had Merlin said that already?
When Merlin finally leaves to join Arthur on the training ground after a back and forth of ‘I can’t hear you!’ Merlin hears a shrill screech.
Thinking it was the daily threat to Arthur's life, Merlin immediately hides behind a wall, ready to strike. But when he peers over it, he’s disappointed to find that it was someone from the royal court, Sir L...something
“MAIDS! GUARDS? ANYONE!” He shouts, stomping on his feet.
"Yes, sire,” George appears beside him. Merlin scoffs, bloody arse-licker.
“Who did this?” He points to the floor, right at Merlin’s unfinished work. Oops.
“I believe it’s...” Merlin is 100% sure he’s pausing here for dramatic effect. “I believe it’s Merlin, sire,” that rat! He was watching the whole time?!
“Merlin,” he repeats, and George nods.
“The King’s servant,” he said, totally unsurprised. Wow, a noble knows him!
"Well, I did see him on the windowsill back then, but he’s gone now." George points at the windowsill, Merlin swears he’s going to hex him.
“What’s going on?” Another noble that Merlin can’t name asks, horrified when he sees the floor. “You did this!?” he asks, his face furious.
"No, sire, it was Merlin." Merlin will make sure to make the hex last at least a week.
“Merlin.” face turning grim
“Yes”
“The King’s servant.” Merlin’s reputation surpasses himself.
"Yes,” George repeats, looking proud at himself. Let’s see if he’s still proud when Merlin hexed him later.
“Clean this, then you may go,” the noble orders. George bows, picks up the mop, and then starts to clean the floor with vigor.
The nobles nod in satisfaction, and oh, shite, they’re coming this way. Merlin stays still when they approach, thinking he’s going to get caught. But the nobles just walked past him. Wait, what? That's it?
The noble moans, “I can’t believe Arthur still keeps that troublesome, lanky!" The fact that they didn’t notice him is still beyond him.
The other noble immediately shushed him. “If Arthur hears that, you’re dead!”
“I don’t care! I’m tired of him!” he yelled, massaging his temple. “You do realize that most of our problems are somehow caused or intertwined by that servant. I knew that goblins didn’t come out of nowhere. Geoffrey saw him in the library before the thing happened!”
Merlin had to stifle a laugh. Okay, that was funny, really chaotic, and also his fault.
“And that one time when Arthur’s pants fell off. I think the rumors are true, he does indeed p—”
“Let’s stop right there, shall we?” The noble stops him, standing in front of him, “Sir Lunden," putting a hand on his shoulder. Oh, so that’s his name.
“We’ve established that Arthur is weirdly obsessed with the boy, even if he had...little to no redeeming qualities,” he sighs, squeezing his shoulder while muttering, ‘How he stays employed is beyond me’, then he turns serious.
“I know that his work ethics are a bit awful, and maybe he’s also mental in the head,” he inhales sharply as if preparing himself to say this. “But he is, at the end of the day, King Arthur’s servant, for years. And even if he gave us a lot of trouble, King Arthur trusts him, and as the royal house of Camelot, we should respect that.”
“You’re right,” Lunden said with finality. Merlin watches them with awe. Well, if they’re loyal to Arthur, Merlin thinks they’re not that bad.
“Have we talked about the time he spends on ‘the tavern’?" Nevermind
“I don’t think we ever do,” he said as they strode down the hall.
They were probably talking about Merlin’s regular disappearance when something really important happened. Merlin should probably be ashamed right now, the royal court is gossiping about him. But his thoughts are elsewhere.
“Oh, you” George said it with so much spite that it’s actually funny.
“Me!” Merlin grins as George walks past him. George gestures an ‘I’m watching you’ sign with his hands before turning around. Irritated, Merlin immediately chants and directs his spell at his bottom.
George jumps in surprise, spilling the bucket that he was holding and throwing off his mop. George glares at him as Merlin tries very hard not to laugh. George eventually scoffs before walking furiously away. Probably to find a cloth to clean up.
When he was gone, Merlin was laughing. Using his magic to expand the water’s volume. Turning the hall into a small lake. When he’s satisfied, he wipes a tear on his eye and turns directly to face—
“ARTHUR?!?!” He immediately stood straight, hands on his back, despite not holding anything. Shite, did Arthur see him using magic?
"Merlin,” Arthur said, as if holding a laugh. He pursed his lips multiple times, taking deep breaths before he eventually said, “Where were you? I told you to come immediately to the training field!”
"Sorry, um, sire." Arthur didn’t see him using magic, that’s good.
Arthur looks at the castastrophe behind him. He purses his lips again, holding a laugh. “Did you, um—pft-HRM—oh, sorry, sore throat, hm—“
He composes himself before saying, “Did you...” and laughs hysterically. Merlin immediately laughs with him. They both laugh like maniacs until Merlin has to support himself on the wall to stand.
“Oh my god, did you see the look on his face??” Arthur asks, out of breath, clutching his stomach.
“His face was so red, he might as well be George the tomato,” and then they laugh again at Merlin’s stupid joke, it’s not even that funny.
(“But it is funny!” Arthur exclaimed mid-laugh.)
They finally stop, taking deep breaths to calm themselves down.
“Did you do this?” Arthur said, finally, with even breaths.
“Uh no, sire,” Merlin said, silently agreeing it was George.
Arthur throws a knowing look at both him and the water. It stretches on until Merlin becomes so nervous that Arthur’s going to throw him into the dungeon. As he was about to explain himself, Arthur turned around and said, “Alright let’s go to the training field, Merlin.”
“Yes, the training field.” Merlin said in relief. He’s just overthinking; Arthur is too much of a buffoon that he wouldn’t notice, even if he’s doing magic in front of him.
“I heard that!” Arthur shouts
Shite, did Merlin say that out loud? "Sorry, sire, you’re such a buffoon that it’s a miracle your kingdom is still in one piece!”
Merlin dodges the furniture that was thrown at his face. Wait, how did Arthur know about George in the first place?!

One Hell of a Love (Book 2) Chapter Fifteen
Sebastian Michaelis x Demon! Reader
Chapter Fifteen: One Hell of a Reveal
Summary: The truth is revealed.
“I…I can’t believe this,” gasped Arthur, staring at Sebastian in shock. To know Sebastian hadn’t died even though he’d seen the body and yet somehow also returned as Jeremy was so strange to his little human mind. “I could never have imagined that something so unreal could be true…”
“Oh?” Sebastian raised an eyebrow. “Did you not return to the manor because you were assured of the fact?”
“If you had just kept going home, you would have returned to a simpler, more peaceful reality,” said (Y/N). Their nose twitched. “So why return?” They smirked. “You’re trembling, too. Really, it would have been better for your health to continue home.”
Arthur’s gaze steadied. “I-If the unease I felt turned out to be something more than simple disquiet on my part, it would become my duty to go after the Yard’s carriage at once!”
“Ha!” Ciel laughed. “Professor, you are a most righteous man. You did write of your love for the knights of the middle ages in your work, so it’s to be expected. Did it not occur to you that you might not be bale to return home if you learn the truth?”
Arthur’s eyes widened in fear. “Eh?!”
Ciel chuckled. “I was only joking. Just as you surmised…Woodley is not the culprit. At least, not in this case.” Arthur’s eyes widened. “However, he belongs in that carriage.”
“…What do you mean?” said Arthur.
“We shouldn’t stand here talking, let’s see to preparing elevenses or some such,” said Ciel. “Sebastian, (Y/N).”
            “Yes, Young Master,” said (Y/N).
“Yes, my Lord,” said Sebastian. He smiled at Arthur, slight and devilish. “Allow use to show you the way. You desire to know the truth, do you not?” Arthur hesitated, intelligently assessing the danger of approaching.
(Y/N) smirked. “Have no fear. We shall not eat you. You’re not to our tastes.”
l
“Today, I have prepared Fortnum and Mason’s Darjeeling second flush and petits fours as accompaniment,” said Sebastian as he poured the tea for Ciel and Arthur.
The greenhouse canopy extended above them, light shining in through the glass. It was bright and lively, but the air around the group was dark and dangerous.
Ciel took a sip. “Nothing here is poisoned, so please do help yourself. Well, how did you come to deduce this one was alive, Professor?”
“In truth, I was not convinced he was,” said Arthur. “I just felt vaguely ill at ease all the while, and….I can’t really explain it too well, but he—How do I say this…? He was too perfect. Both the butler, Sebastian, and Vicar Jeremy made me incredibly uncomfortable.”
Smart human. He knows when danger is about, thought (Y/N).
“But there was no room for suspicion…They were perfection,” said Arthur. “It was all so immaculate that I, on the contrary, began to find it strange.”
“How do you mean?” said Sebastian.
“Well, the Phantomhive estate’s servants are clearly skilled,” said Arthur, glancing at (Y/N). “I mean, they were all impressive, but while I could accept it for a while since there were two of you, what caused me to think it strange was how you prepared for your own death. It is impossible to prepare so completely in advance of one’s death…no, one’s ‘murder.’ The food, the owl, what you said to me—it was all too perfect. That was no the work of some mere premonition.
“And though Vicar Jeremy, who appeared after your death, was suspicious by all accounts, his alibi was flawless, and there was no reason to doubt him,” continued Arthur. “And then I saw you interact with (Y/N) with ease, just as you did as Sebastian. That’s when I started to think something was off with Jeremy. And then his parting words…
“The moment I heard those words, I realized the truth behind the unease I had been feeling,” said Arthur, leaning forward, “and that all our deductions would be utterly overturned by one ‘unrealistic possibility.’ ”
“An unrealistic possibility?” Ciel raised an eyebrow.
“The possibility that the butler, Sebastian…was not dead,” said Arthur. “Once I came to that conclusion, I could no longer contain myself.”
“For you to put all your faith into that one remark and my interactions with (Y/N) and return here…I would expect no less from one for whom the Young Master has such high hopes,” said Sebastian.
He had known his words were a bit on the nose, but he was truly impressed by Arthur noticing his interactions with (Y/N). Sebastian drifted towards them naturally with his love, so it was no surprise that he was lenient around them. However, he thought he hid himself well. First Agni and now this man…some humans are indeed perceptive.
“What nonsense are you jabbering on about?” huffed Ciel defensively.
(Y/N) smirked. “Some humans are more interesting than others.”
            Ciel rolled his eyes.
Sebastian looked at Arthur. “So, what did I do to pique you so as strange?”
“The first instance was when Lord Siemens was murdered,” explained Arthur. “At that time, you did nothing. You simply observed us and the situation as it unfolded. You, who had responded so swiftly to the trouble that occurred at the dinner party, you understand? Now that I think about it, there must have been a reason. Moreover, you uttered not one word in the Earl’s defense when he was under suspicion of murder. For a butler to come to his master’s aid was just plain odd. Were you not aware? That the next murder would occur and dispel all suspicion from the Earl?”
“Yes. I was indeed aware,” said Sebastain, smirking. “However, that was not my reason for failing to defend the Young Master.”
Ciel huffed. “I bet you thought it served me right or the like, hm?”
“Not at all,” said Sebastain. “I was just shocked that while anticipating getting caught in some kind of trap, you readily succumbed to sleep with those cares on your mind.”
“N-Now please, just a minute!” cried Arthur. “Anticipating, you said!”
“We knew that one of the guests was looking to cause some trouble for the Young Master at the banquet,” said (Y/N).
“Th-That means you three had already predicted that this incident would take place?!” Arthur was astonished.
            “Yes,” said Sebastian.
“It was likely Lord Siemens would be murdered, and then we made sure we had a contingency plan for if one of us were killed while investigating,” said (Y/N). They sighed. “I’m a little disappointed I didn’t die. I would have gotten to dress up as a man and order people around.”
“You see, when (Y/N) and I first arrived at Lord Siemens’s room, we heard something smash before we broke in,” said Sebastian.
“The tetrodotoxin,” said (Y/N). “And Lord Siemens’s smelled more of alcohol than any blood.”
“Please wait!” said Arthur. “Why did you not mention that right away?! If you had, the Earl would have been spared all that suspicion.”
“The Young Master himself appeared to be simply taking in the scene, so I followed his lead,” said Sebastian.
“A murder occurring under those circumstances—my first thought was that it was a sham,” said Ciel. “Alive or dead, Siemens took the poison himself, as I’d expected. The rest was as the butler said. I thought I’d have time enough to make my move after I had more evidence in hand…A better grip on the culprit’s tail as it were.”
“I see…That’s why you had Sebastian go and add coke to the fireplaces,” said Arthur. “That made me wonder as well. There was no need to stoke the fire in a room with no occupant. Yet he was murdered while the fire in that particular room.”
“Yes, the true meaning of his command at that time was ‘take a close look at that fireplace,’ ” said Sebastian. “Still, I must say my Master is a merciless individual. For he ordered me to carry out that command, knowing I would be murdered if I went snooping around that fireplace.”
“Well, I never imagine it would all play out exactly as I had thought up to that point,” said Ciel with a smirk.
“As you’d thought?” asked Arthur in confusion.
“Yes. Sebastian was killed that night,” said (Y/N). “At the hands of the one guest who came merely to torment the Young Master.” They smirked. “Earl Grey.”
Arthur’s teacup spilled as he dropped it in shock. “N-No! So you’re saying you even knew the identity of the culprit?! And despite that, you still chose to throw away your own life?! Just because your Master commanded you to do so…?!”
“Yes. I do not lie.” Sebastian smiled pleasantly.
“The Young Master is a strict employer,” said (Y/N).
“I then took care of preparations, ensuring (Y/N) prepared food, gave the Chef and gardener their orders for the next day, entrusted the maid with the owl that I had caught in the woods the day before and kept on reserve in case of an emergency, and penned a report to Young Master on the results of my fireplace examination,” explained Sebastian. “Thereafter I returned to work as the Young Master had commanded.”
“And then I discovered his body as arranged,” said (Y/N). They smirked at Sebastian. “Though he had gotten the attack angle wrong. Stabbing yourself through the front instead of the back? Really, Sebastian.”
Sebastian sighed. “I had so much to do for the Young Master that I rather didn’t have the time to consider.”
            “Be quiet,” muttered Ciel.
“But Young Master, your act was truly most compelling,” said Sebastian. “Even I never expected him to go to such lengths as to strike me with his beringed hand! Furthermore, he did it at such a time when I could not afford to move. I do admire that cunning of his.” He smirked at (Y/N). “However, I am disappointed by (Y/N)’s lack of reaction.”
“I shed tears and screamed. Did you wish for me to drape myself across your body and plead for the Heavens to bring you back?” said (Y/N) teasingly.
“Not a terrible idea,” said Sebastian. To feel (Y/N)’s care for him was certainly an attractive idea. He'd prefer to show his affection and feel it in other ways, though.
“But how did you act as both Jeremy and the corpse?” asked Arthur, urging the group to continue explaining.
“Ah, yes.” Sebastian smirked. “Having obtained an alibi as a corpse as well as my freedom, I was able to execute my duties at will and apace. However…I still had the key, so when you decided to check my body, I did have to rush back from the rain.” He smiled. “But I found the most perfect creatures waiting for me, so all was not lost.”
“You found the cats that night?” said (Y/N) in amusement.
“The silver lining to all my tiresome work,” said Sebastian happily. He smiled. “Forgive me, I shall continue. I hid as a corpse once more, and I narrowly averted the most disastrous predicament I have faced in all my time as a butler.”
That was the most disastrous? (Y/N)’s opinion begged to differ.
Arthur eyes widened. That was why the corpse had been wet.
“However,” continued Sebastian. “The awful plight of having my person be exposed to human eyes in such a humiliating state…was a first even for me despite my devilishly long life.”
(Y/N) was of the opinion he had looked devilishly attractive.
“Later, I retrieved the ampoule shards that Earl Grey had thrown out into the garden and tossed them into the fireplace of Mr. Woodley’s room, thereby carrying out the Young Master’s orders in fool,” said Sebastian. “I then proceeded to disguise myself and return to the manor, theatre ticket to prove my alibi and own in hand, as Vicar Jeremy.
“Then that ticket was a sham?!” cried Arthur.
“No, it was the real thing, purchased in London,” said Sebastian.
“I slipped out during the party and procured it before returning,” said (Y/N). “Then I gave it to him for his alibi when needed.”
“But that is impossible!” exclaimed Arthur.
“You are welcome to doubt us, sir, but you can verify the ticket stub if you’d like,” said (Y/N).
“This and the owl too were all part of his efforts to make Jeremy convincing,” said Ciel.
“Oh, that reminds me! Tell me, what was written in that letter?” said Arthur.
“Ah, yes, that.” Ciel made a face. “That was simply a prank of his.”
I suspected there was nothing written, thought (Y/N).
“As the incidents had interrupted your studies, I thought you could do with a little mental exercise, Young Master,” said Sebastian. “Thence, I took on two roles, and—”
“Please, just a minute!” said Arthur. “But I examined your corpse alongside Mr. Jeremy, you realize?!”
“About that…” Sebastian smirk. “I continued to arrive in each place ahead of everyone else, first allowing my body to be carried to the separate room. The real problem was Earl Grey. First, we examined Lord Siemens and then Mr. Phelps. While you headed to the third room, I took Mr. Phelps’s body and disguised it in my uniform.”
“So that corpse was Mr. Phelps?!” cried Arthur.
            “Yes,” said Sebastian.
“I felt feint in order to ensure that ‘Jeremy’ could look at ‘Sebastian’s’ body without anyone seeing what he was truly looking at,” said (Y/N), smirking. “Thank you for being so concerned, Professor. It helped the scene.”
Sebastian sighed. “However, Earl Grey did double back to properly check the identity of the corpse, and I was forced to quickly change once more.” He tsked. “And he kicked me.” He smiled at Arthur. “As you are already aware, I thereafter assisted the Young Master in the guise of Vicar Jeremy. Mr. Woodley was apprehended, and the unharmed Young Master redeemed.”
“Everything was wrapped up perfectly,” said (Y/N).
“I don’t get it,” said Arthur. “Even after hearing you out, I still have not come to understand the incidents. No, I can’t comprehend any of it. I mean, you understand my confusion, don’t you?
“If what you say is true, Earl Grey, Queen Victoria’s butler, is the mastermind behind all of these things. Earl Grey forced Earl Phantomhive to set the stage upon which he would commit his murders and even attempted to cast the young Earl as the culprit. Despite this, Earl Phantomhive, you went out of your way to make careful preparations with your butler, such that you alone would be cleared of suspicion,” rambled Arthur. “…And framed the innocent Mr. Woodley while knowing Earl Grey was the perpetrator. It isn’t that the case itself is all that difficult to grasp, but rather circumstances are most extraordinary.”
“That may indeed be so,” said Ciel. “But there was nothing to be done about it. For it was all done according to Her Majesty’s wishes.”
            “Eh?!” exclaimed Arthur.
“Siemens, our guest from Germany,” said Ciel. “His bank had made considerable investments in the domestic development of ships and vessels…and it would be no stretch to call him a central figure in the expansion and advancement of Germany’s heavy industries. With Great Britian’s position currently under threat from Germany and America, Her Majesty plotted to destroy Siemens in order to prevent the growth of Germany’ s military power.”
“By simply killing one man?!” cried Arthur.
“It is true that Siemens was no more than a banker,” admitted Ciel. “His influence might only have been equivalent to the flapping of a butterfly’s wings, but it had the potential to give rise to a devastating tempest that we might’ve never seen coming. The theory is known as the Buttler Effect. Her Majesty Queen Victoria, who in just fifty years built the British Empire that dominates the glove. It’s almost as if she can somehow see all the butterflies whose wings will change the world.”
“But why did Earl Grey seek to have you take the blame?” asked Arthur.
“Though it shames me to admit, a slight mischief of mine seems to have been discovered, you see,” said Ciel.
Burning down Kelvin’s estate with his bodies and the vacant children within.
“I expected some measure of punishment when my deed was brought to light, but I never thought I would be painted as a murdered…Her Majesty possesses quite the sense of humor.” Ciel smirked. “However, playing games has always been a particular talent of mine, and so I used Woodley, who I had invited to the party to be my scapegoat, as my pawn.”
“Why would you do that to an innocent like Mr. Wood—!”
Ciel cut Arthur off. “I told you, didn’t it? He belongs in that carriage. His public face is that of a man who runs a diamond polishing business. But behind the scenes, he is an arms dealer who sells illegal weapons obtained with his diamonds to war-torn regions on a grand scale.”
Sebastian held up a newspaper article. “And about two weeks ago, the president of the Roze company, which mines diamonds, was murdered.”
“Employing my own channels, I’d identified Woodley as the perpetrator of that crime,” said Ciel. “Some of the underworld using his related powers to endanger someone in outer society is a grave violation of the rules. As I’d planned to eliminate him anyway, he was just the man to be my scapegoat.”
“Her Majesty’s concerns have been cleared, and the Young Master receives no blame for any crimes committed here. Two birds with one stone,” said (Y/N).
“What Mr. Woodley said back then…” Arthur remembered the title Woodley had called Ciel. The Dog of the Queen… “What in the world are you?!”
“I am he who snuffs out those who violate the commandments of the British underworld and disposes of them.” Ciel smirked. “The Guard Dog of the Queen. This latest affair was a trivial game organized by Her Majesty to reconfirm whether or not I still possess the qualifications for that role.”
“Y-You must be lying…To begin with, if all I’ve heard is true…” Arthur wasn’t sure how to continue as he shook in shock and fear.
“ ‘There is nothing more deceptive than an obvious fact,’ Professor,” said Ciel with a cunning smirk. “That was always right before your eyes.”
“Yes…” Sebastian leaned over Arthur. His voice was low and reverberated in darkness. “The fact that I am not human, you see.”
(Y/N) smirked as Arthur’s chair tipped backwards and the poor man scrambled backwards.
“Poor thing,” they said. “He’s scared, Sebastian.” Their words dripped with shadow.
Arthur’s eyes widened as the shadows swirled around the two servants. He knew the truth in the deepest parts of his heart—neither was human. One played the roles handed to him, and the other played innocent and lured the people in.
Arthur lunged for the door, but Sebastian and (Y/N) stepped in front of him. Sebastian leaned towards him, eyes fuchsia. “You do understand what will become of you if you divulge this secret, do you not?”
“A pity if anything were to happen to you,” purred (Y/N), eyes glowing fuchsia.
“I-I’ll never tell anyone”! cried Arthur, running from them.
Sebastian smirked. “The words that have just passed your lips…I urge you to never, ever forget them.”
“We will be watching,” said (Y/N).

Character Playlist: Gwaine Turner
You can find character playlists for Dai, Morgan, Perry and Gwen already posted on our blog (and at the links on their names here).
The last of our main character playlists! Episode 5 is Gwaine's episode, of course. Let's get to know him a little better.
First Class by Rainbow Kitten Surprise
I say I'll be damned if we can make it out of this alive But is this what you want? What you wanted? Do you need love? Am I enough for you? In time you'll find I've got my baggage too
A lot of Gwaine's story is about the tension he feels between what other people expect of him and who he actually is. The Knights want him to be one version of himself, in the way that the rugby team and his friends at university did. Dai wants to be a different version - but the version Dai wants is one which surrenders everything from the other side. Gwaine is caught between all these people who think he's beautiful, who want him and want to use him, and very few of them remember that he too is just a man who's as traumatised and grieving as everyone else is.
2. The Quittin' Kind by Eleisha Eagle
There's a corner you painted yourself in I'm not sure what was your intention Now you're trapped alone on an island And you can't swim, no you can't swim
Gwaine left Dai, Morgan and Perry in the middle of the night in the haunted wilds of Bannau Brycheiniog after they made their escape from the Knights. He stole half their supplies to make it back and he didn't leave a note, knowing they'd assume he'd been killed by something in the night. Obviously, this wasn't a great thing to do to them - especially to Dai. But as we learn in the series, Gwaine did it because he was being pulled back by Arthur's song. And when he got back, he realised he was no longer the only popular jock in the one small group of queer weirdos who understood him. He was alone.
3. Look Alive by Guster
The sun came up The world began to shake Fault lines exposing All my own mistakes If I could do anything Then this wouldn't be happening It's been a long time Since I've felt courageous
Gwaine is extremely frustrated with his own conflict between wanting to be comfortable with his sexuality and also wanting to be everything that everyone wants him to be. He knows that the popular, charismatic man who was drowning in friends before the Cataclysm was not a man that anyone wanted to be bisexual, so he just pretended he wasn't. He was 'straight-passing' (I hate this phrase, it's a core part of Gwaine's character arc), and he hid. And he hates that he hid.
4. Scared of the Dark by Lil Wayne, Ty Dolla $ign, XXXTENTACION
I ain't never scared and I ain't never horrified I just look down at my Rolex, it said it's the darkest times I ain't never terrified, I ain't never petrified You know I see dead people, I just tell 'em, "Get a life"
After the Cataclysm, Gwaine has an even bigger reason to be nervous about opening up about his sexuality to the Knights given their general bigotries. But he also, like Perry, has a job to do. He's a Knight. He protects people. He's the person who rides out alone in the night to go fight the monster everyone else is scared of. Before he left, he took half of the protection duties from Perry for looking after Dai and Morgan. And with the Knights, he's one of a band of brothers protecting what they're pretty sure are the last few hundred people left alive in the UK. So every day, he gets up, and he faces the monsters, because someone has to.
5. Growing Pains by Layup
I walk this world with broken toes From my missteps and told you so's I learned my way, breaking every bone Now I see all these aches will make you grow And every fall has a rise, every burn has a flame From foolish to wise, we all bruise the same
Slowly but surely, left alone with very little decent company among the Knights and no one who really understands him, eating himself alive with worry about what's happened to Dai whilst also begrudgingly reassuring himself that Perry would never let anything happen to him, Gwaine has a lot of time to think, and grow. He starts to get a bit of clarity about the man he wants to be, and starts to learn from his mistakes. He decides to stand up to the men who've backed him into this corner, and for the first time in his life, be something other than what everyone wants him to be. Himself.
6. To the Desert by Branches
I came out to the desert To find what I lost in your eyes I filled my lungs with the sunset And walked out into the night
Gwaine leaves the Knights for Dai. That's not a lie. He wasn't sure whether Dai was even alive before he found him on the radio, but he'd decided months or years walking through the wilderness looking for the love of his life was better than merry bullying in Camelot. He walked into the wasteland.
7. Our Kingdom by Hugo Barriol
If you choose the red, and I choose the blue We can share the green, we can share the green When I've lost my words, looking at you I didn't know your name, I didn't know you could- Change what I see Change the way I feel I was far away from me I wasn't listening
Gwaine knew he was attracted to men before he met Dai - he'd messed around with a couple of people in various ways. He did not know that he could love men before he met Dai, and it's part of why Dai is so important to him. For Gwaine, the nights spent staying up til 3am playing video games were just as important as the drunk hookups he pretended didn't happen. Dai never really realised just how much he meant to Gwaine - he always assumed he was just a passing fancy to him.
8. Gawain by The Trials of Cato
In crashing blows there is no game But when the Emerald Knight begins again I risk my life to make my name
Our Gwaine is determined not to be remembered as a coward. He doesn't want to be cruel, and he doesn't want to hide from who he is or his love of Dai. He's entranced and enchanted by the story, which pulls him in, playing on these tendrils of his desperation for acceptance and catharsis. He so badly wants to prove that he's brave enough to be worthy of a man like Dai. It's an easy opening to exploit.
9. Blood Upon the Snow by Hozier, Bear McCreary
It's not my arms that will fail me But this world takes more strength than it gave me The trees deny themselves nothing that makes them grow No rain fall, no sunshine No blood upon the snow
You get it.

Behold my old attempt at creating a fallout game this will be mediocre best It was never finished for good reason. It wasn’t very good, but if this gets enough support, I’ll make it better and please give me honest suggestions on how to make it better. Any criticism is welcome. You can choose to upgrade it to max or do 3 minimum
Warning this next one is so lore in accurate that you want to look away maybe
Brain vs brawn and East vs West
East and west cost mutants are at war in the middle of the country
the east cost and some west cost being more vilonnt
while the rest of west cost mutants  being smarter
the west cost mutants are on thier last legs as the behmoths are all on the east as well as their dumber west cost brother joing the east cost mutants.
the west cost mutants have been forced  to be becoming gorrila fighters and doing ambushes.

Merlin rewatch 2x08 : "The sins of the father"
Part 1 :
Alright ! While Ao3 is down for maintenance, I'm going to watch "Merlin".
I like that we're going to see why the Purge happened, right after an episode like "The witchfinder", in which we saw how terrible witch hunting had been for decades.
It took me several times going back to this scene to notice that this is Sir Caradoc being knighted ? Karadoc ? Coucouuuu.
Wow, Uther praising his son ! "You'll find know one who embodies this values better than my son". (Nobility, honor, respect).
All the new knights circle in front of the king to protect him but Arthur steps forward. No one protects him but Merlin, and he doesn't even know it.
Morgana's interest in Morgause... She probably senses she's familiar.
Tumblr media
Arthur is holding himself to the same standards as his fellow knights and I love him for it. No hypocrisy here.
He also states twice he refuses to be taken for a coward.
I love that Merlin points out the obvious : Arthur is gallant, he could hesitate to kill her because she's a woman, and she could use that to her advantage.
Ah, Morgause and her eyeliner...
"Who's to say Arthur's life won't rest in my hands ?" Merlin is like "oh fuuuuck".
Merlin comforting Arthur before the duel, stating he gave Morgause a chance to withdraw and whatever happens will be her doing <3
Lemme say I love that we saw him tinkering with Arthur's armor to fix it and later that we saw him finishing to put it on Arthur. In fanfic, it's such an important plot point. Even when Merlin can be rid of his other tasks, he'll never let anyone else take care of Arthur's armor, in case they mess with it. This armor is Arthur's life, and Merlin should have reinforced it with magic ages ago already.
Morgause's win is quite the accomplishment, as Arthur is apparently one of the best fighters in all of Albion...
That tear in Arthur's eye when he realises she could kill him...
"I have never been so humiliated in my life... I was defeated... by a girl." Arthur you really need to be less sexist.
Morgana you are gorgeous in that silver dress.
Morgause is not looking very straight in that shirt...
"You've shown yourself to be a man of honor."
Tumblr media
And she hits where it hurts. Ygraine is Arthur's Achille heel...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Uther is showing himself to be the antithesis to Arthur. He was the one who knighted those new knights at the beginning to the episode, asking them to keep their word and behave with honor, but now he's asking his son to break his word and not go to Morgause. He knows more than he lets on and he's a liar.
Merlin enjoying Arthur's humiliation is pretty funny.
We need to stop with the fatphobic jokes. I never thought they were funny before and I still don't think they're funny now.
"THERE IS NO MORE ROPE" lol Arthur in horse dung !
"I swear this horse is even dumber than you Merlin" how about you stop calling your only friend stupid, dumb, etc ?
Gaius espèce de grosse balance.
I KNEW there would be an arrow flying right in front of them !
The spear is catching fire ? MERLIN ! How obvious is that !? And how oblivious is poor Arthur ?
Aww Arthur is opening up to Merlin and telling him Morgause knew his mother !
Help Morgana is too beautiful here and I'm too gay for this.
Those scenes by the fire in the middle of the forest are always some of the best for Merthur. They're far away from court, Uther, etc. It's just them, their personalities, and they open up and confide in each other. I think it's the first time Arthur talks about his mother and the first time Merlin mentions his father.
Part 2 coming soon.

👋👋👋 tell me your idea for the Merlin/Byler au? 👀👀👀👀👀
toy of COURSE i will tell you my idea for a merlin/byler au. i will like to say first though. because i need somebody to know and i'm being whiny. that i just slammed by finger into my door and it HURTS OH MY GOD.
anyways, first of all, i wrote this half asleep at 5 something in the morning, but this is what i imagined as the opener:
This is a tale of two young men, born to meet one another and to always be by each other’s side. Two sides of the same coin, some might call it. Destiny, others might say.
But destiny is a delicate thing, its strings woven loose yet tight, and the decisions one makes can often begin to unravel those threads, changing them into an entirely new tapestry all together.
This tale is an unusual one.
Because this tale is one that begins where it ends.
so the idea that i was thinking of was to start with how merlin ends, where like we meet will and mike at the end of their story together. will would be like merlin (Most Powerful Warlock™️) and mike would be like arthur (the noble king/knight destined to lead and guide), except destiny is unraveling at its seams. mike is dying, and will can't do anything to save him. even with all his power, he can't save mike's life, so will just holds mike as he dies.
will, like merlin, would be immortal in this, and he would get to hold onto the promise given by the dragon at the end that mike would return—that their destiny and their story together is not yet complete. when the world needs him again, mike is going to return, and until then, all will can do is wait for him. and so, will says goodbye to his best friend and the person he loves most (though the two of them never explicitly say it to one another, which is part of the tragedy), and he leaves the lake alone.
we flash forward, around 1,500 years later to the year 1970, and some way or another, will gets some sort of magical dream that lets him know that soon mike is going to come back, and that he has a choice: he can choose to essentially die and be reborn so he can mike grow up together, because destiny will always bring the two of them together, or he can continue to wait and just find mike again and
the choice gives will an out of sorts. a chance to start over, and though he initially thinks it would be best for mike if he just waits those years until mike is older and it's time for their destiny to kick into full gear, he's prompted by whatever magic-y figure is presenting him with this choice and he's encouraged to make a choice that is for him too. because will has been alone all this time and his heart is heavy, so being reborn would give him that chance to start over and to begin again. it's promised that when destiny does arrive and the time is right, will and mike will both learn of their shared past again (something we'll say with a mix of will's magic and just the general magic existing in the cosmos and stuff), so will agrees to this.
march 22, 1971. will byers is born. a little over 2 weeks later, on april 7, 1971, mike wheeler is born. destiny begins to weave its tapestry again.
the next scene, we see will around late 1983/early 1984 in the direct aftermath of his kidnapping into the upside down. his dreams consist of the trauma he experienced in the upside down of course, and though the memories themselves are foggy, he keeps coming back to his last few hours in the upside down, being intubated and nearly dying. and in foggy memories and moments interspersed between will's near death experience, he begins to dream of his and mike's past life together. these dreams only show fragments—will using his magic and protecting mike's life, mike as a brave knight and a king protecting will in return. it's easily shrugged off by will as him projecting. after all, they're a cleric and a paladin in dnd, right? so that makes sense.
(that doesn't change the terror though that will experiences when his dreams begin to show himself—several years older, weeping as mike dies in his arms. that grief feels paralyzing, and the dream keeps getting interrupted, flashing back and forth between the upside down and his old memories).
next scene, we pick up late 1985/early 1986 in lenora hills, california. will is trying to adjust. he still has nightmares, but they're less focused on the upside down now. the dreams of himself and mike in their past lives are clearer—amplified by the mind flayer's connection from 1984. but there's no way they could be memories, right? how would that even work? and will doesn't have magic. el has magic, not will. he's just will. so will keeps this part of his life quiet, not telling anyone.
one day though, we see a soft willel moment where el opens up to will about losing her own magic—how it feels like a part of her is missing. she's always been forced to use her magic in violent manners, and it scared her for a long time. but now that it is gone, there's a strange sense of warmth lacking. like an old friend is missing, and she just feels different. this prompts will to ask her what it's like... having magic, and so el does her best to explain it.
and it's familiar. there's a tingling in the back of will's next, and something inside him whispers, "this is familiar. you knew this already. you know this. you do."
he tries not to think about it too much.
next scene. november 6, 1986. the world is ending, will byers is living in mike wheeler's bedroom, and one night changes everything.
for the first time, the dream of mike's death comes back in full clarity, and will relives it again. the feeling of desperation and of loss and of love. watching the light fade from mike's eyes and seeing him take his final breath. the dragon's promise to him—that mike would return and that will's job was to simply wait and be ready for him when he arrives. saying goodbye to mike, watching his body disappear in a boat across the lake, further and further from will's view until—
will wakes up with a gasp. he can't see it, but his eyes are glowing a bright, familiar golden. the lights mike's bedroom all shine brighter than they ever have before, and then, they explode.
"shit!" will hears, because mike's awake too. he woke up barely a minute before will did, and he's kneeling down next to will, staring at him with shock in his eyes.
the two of them sit there in silence for moments that feel like an eternity, shattered glass surrounding them, and the moonlight streaming through the window. the memories are back, coming to will all at once. the floodgates have opened, and will remembers. he remembers.
and judging by the look on mike's face, he remembers too.
they move in perfect unison together, and they just embrace. because they both know. they both remember. and the two of them just sit there, and they cry together, because they're will byers and mike wheeler right now, but they've been will and mike for years and years and years before that. and they're together again, and the world is huge and overwhelming, but for just a moment, the only thing that matters is that they're together again.
second to last scene - the next morning. mike's room is now repaired, thanks to will's magic. they're sitting on mike's bed together, knees knocking against each other, shoulders pressed against one another. they have so, so much history together, and how do they even begin to try and fully understand all of it? plus, there are still so many things that will never got to tell mike, and mike, he's a bit hurt that will never shared those things in their first life, but he thinks he understands. he understands why will had to hide those parts from him. but he wishes will didn't have to.
will's eyes flicker to the painting he'd made for mike, now hanging on his wall. ironic, huh, that he would paint himself as a cleric, a wizard... and mike as the knight leading the charge. destiny must think it's funny. he's been carrying the weight of his lie with him since march of this year, and now, he sees how much the weight of his lies hurt mike when they were alive the first time. how he could've saved them both so much grief, and how maybe if he had opened up to mike and trusted him... things could've been different.
this situation... it's not quite the same, but the fear feels the same. it's the same for will, feeling like he has to hide a part of himself from mike, out of fear of rejection, out of a fear of losing mike, out of knowing society doesn't accept people like him.
but this is his second chance, right? how many people get a chance to make amends like this? and will is older now, and he's wiser too. he remembers the 1,500 years he was alone, and in just one night, he's changed. he's not quite the young, scared 15 year old that he was. he is, but he isn't. he's also someone who has lived and watched people die and who has waited and who knows how much he's always loved mike.
so, will chooses to be honest with mike. they talk about the magic first and the lies there, but it's a segue into the conversation about the painting. mike knows that it wasn't from el. but he thinks that will just lied to be a good friend. they fought about it, and in the end, they left it be—just a point of contention and tension in the same way the rain fight was.
will tells him everything—the true intention behind the painting. how he, will byers, has always admired mike wheeler and how mike's his best friend and how the feelings just developed into something more. but also how he, will, fell in love with mike... a long, long time ago. how he knew it, but also knew they'd never be able to be together. how he'd accepted that his place was simply at mike's side, protecting him and guiding him as best as he could. how he was content with that, but deep down also always dreamed of something more when they were alive together. how his years without mike only solidified the fact that will loves mike truly, deeply, fully, and how he plans to be here for mike, in whatever way that looks like and whatever way makes mike happy.
it gets quiet in the room. and mike looks a little stunned at first, still trying to take in all of will's words. patience, though, is something will has learned over his life, and he gently tells mike that he doesn't have to say anything right now. that mike can take the time to think about it too—
and mike cuts him off by kissing him.
it's short and desperate but also hesitant and a little fearful. mike pulls away, his eyes wide, and he looks young. they're both still young, even though they've had entire lives as adults (and then some more for will lol). and he quietly admits that he, mike wheeler, has been so confused recently. because he's been told his whole life that boys... aren't supposed to love other boys like that. that he shouldn't have these feelings for his best friend, so he's been hiding and running from this part of himself—the part that does have feelings for his best friend, will byers.
but also, that he, mike, the one who knew will long ago had fallen just as deeply in love with him while they were together. it was never an option to love will like this. mike always had his life planned out and written for him—the knight, the prince, the king. he had to have an heir. he had to rule their kingdom. he couldn't be with will.
but god, he could keep will close. maybe it was selfish to keep him so close while knowing he loved will as something more than they could ever be, but then again, mike thinks he's always been a little selfish. and he could swallow back that lump in his throat that formed every time will smiled at him or made a teasing joke or did anything really, because every moment with will made mike feel like he was falling more and more in love.
he almost told will, that day... when he died. he almost said that—instead of the "thank you" he gave will instead. but something stopped him. a feeling that... their story wasn't over yet. that a better time would come to share those words with will.
and so, mike looks will in the eye and in the softest, most gentle voice, he confesses his love for will.
the two of them kiss again. will's magic makes the lights glow again, and mike laughs, making some comment that this is going to take some getting used to. will points out that it's been a good 15 years since he's used his magic... so it's gonna take some getting used to for him as well.
it becomes clear to both of them that they were brought back together for a reason—and that reason has to do with the upside down and with henry. henry's powers, like el, are magic based, and so now, the playing field is leveled with will's magic. hell, the scales have tipped in their favor because of will's magic. this is their destiny. this is how they're going to save the world. and you see a moment of weariness from will, who recognizes this, and recognizes the burden they're sharing.
mike gently pulls him close, pressing a kiss to will's forehead, and he just tells will that they can figure all of this out later. destiny's waited this long, right? they can be selfish. they can just be together.
and so, the scene just ends with them sitting there, arms wrapped around each other, and sitting in peaceful silence. and nothing else matters other than the fact that they're together.
the final little part would be a section to mirror the opening part, talking about destiny. how these two were brought together and born to find each other. how destiny's tapestry is still being woven and how choices will impact that. and how the tale isn't over yet, but that there's hope in the ending of this story, because will and mike are together once more.
pHEW did i just outline this whole fic in your ask? yep. that's the merlin/byler au that i was thinking of this morning. i have some slight thoughts on how i could expand the world (making other characters line up/parallel other merlin characters and being reincarnated versions of their past lives), but idk i haven't given too much thought to that and probably wouldn't go as far as to write that! but this oneshot... yeah, definitely adding it to my list lol.

The Guardiana Magic School Run - Part 17
Hey everyone, remember this? I sure don't! I was swept away by the task of translating the novel and, while this haunted my every moment as something i didn't want to leave unfinished, i barely remember what was going on. I do remember being not excited at all for the boring battle ahead, but hey, chapter 6 is a difficulty spike, so let's get over this already.
First of all, let's make things even easier.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We're past easter and egg hunts, it's now time for fish hunts. Hanzou pops out as a reward of this silly puzzle, which is leagues better than his original hiding spot. Also we get to enjoy more chapters with him. That's right, he's a magic user! Totally valid for this run.
I also thought you needed to click on the fish to find him but you just have to stand on it. So he just jumped out while i was busy typing, which scared the hell out of me, don't do that again, man.
Tumblr media
Anyway, his attack is massive, surpassing even Max, but his defense is uh, on par with Tao's. That's bad (she does have a couple Steel Rings to have that though). Because of that, I'm passing the Repel Ring from Gong to him so that he doesn't have to worry about counters at least. We can do even better though.
Tumblr media
I completely forgot in the last updates, but Waral sells a unique item, the Wind Ring, which grants +5% evasion. I don't think I'll be needing too much money for a while, I'm holding back on a lot of promotions so mages and healers won't be using the late staves yet, also I remember there is at least one free Holy Staff next chapter. Also, evasion is very ninja-like, isn't? So I get two for Hanzou, one for Gong and one for Tao. I also set Hanzou with some Healing Seeds and a Shower Cure, as I have some of these just laying around, I guess? I really don't remember a lot lol
Anyway, it's time to leave Waral for what I consider the most boring battle in all of this game.
Tumblr media
It's the ship. Again. It was easy last time too. Yay.
Truly this chapter is the filler arc of Shining Force. It even got a beach on it.
Anyway, the clear bonus is the Soulbuster, which has already shown up in the Deals section, but would be nice to get it for free instead. I probably already talked about it when it first popped up, but who says I remember that, and who says you can make me shut up. So, the Soulbuster is a sword made for human enemies. There are not many of those, I think the Dark Priests count, but! I believe it counts for Cain. You can see it's being given right before chapter 6. And while this run has been easy so far, I still fear Cain. I ALWAYS fear Cain. So yeah, I want this.
Tumblr media
Thankfully this battle won't waste our time with enemies behind the ship. We can just advance. I believe more enemies will be spawning in the middle.
Tumblr media
Domingo is my greatest tank by far in both HP and defense, so he can probably handle whatever.
Tumblr media
Arthur apparently has good defense right now, which always takes me by surprise.
I assume there's no need to stress here, so I'm spamming heals with the healers to get exp, and I don't think Narsha's Attack boosts will be needed even everyone's pretty strong already, so I'm Boosting Anri's spells with her instead. She levels up for her troubles and get Attack level 3, which I don't think I ever used.
Tumblr media
Turn 2. Only a Sea Bat came forth. I'm bored. Domingo continues to advance and taunt enemies while tossing a Freeze 1 at it. Arthur finishes the job.
My plan with Narsha was to boost Tao's spells next, but she doesn't need it, so I'm casting step on Anri instead to see if she can reach enemies, because this woman is behind on levels and it's sad. It's still not enough for her to reach anything yet!! dang it!!
Tumblr media
Turn 3. Trying to bait a pegasus knight with Domingo while still trying to get rid of this Gargoyle before it reaches anyone squishier.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
how is he real
Tumblr media
Arthur is poisoned but I honestly don't think that matters. He levels up and gets +3 attack.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh I'm remembering now how absurd this woman currently is.
Tumblr media
Khris is so nice that she actually reaches to heal 3 HP of Arthur instead of spamming for exp only. With this she nabs an important level up! She has Heal 3 now, which was my main reason for delaying her promotion. I'm still on the fence if I'll delay until level 20 for Aura, depends on the equipment we'll get next chapter, and if I'll even get opportunities to safely use these priests for attacking.
Tumblr media
Turn 4. Finally the pegasus knights are coming, and more enemies have spawned. Unlike what I thought they spawn further to the right. The empty middle of this map really was just to waste our time. Fiiiiiiiller.
Tumblr media
Domingo has a chance to do AoE, and I love that. I am a bit worried about Anri exposed, but I'm hoping she can survive at least one hit, and that they'll also be obsessed by Max as usual. I don't wanna miss the bonus so I need someone to go ahead.
Arthur finishes the bat. Tao sadly cannot reach anything. Khris can, but I'm worried so I'll continue spamming heal for now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hanzou debuts with style! And then I cramp his style by failing to screenshot that caption properly, it was a double attack.
Tumblr media
Max obliterates a bat with unnecessary violence (critical i failed to screenshot), and also does his most important job: baiting everything and anything away from Anri.
Unfortunately these enemies are so easy that she gets only 16 exp from a kill, I'm fighting a losing battle trying to get anything useful out of this.
Tumblr media
BWAH???
okay i completely forgot that Max's defense hasn't keep up with the enemies in this run, I'm way too used with this man being a tank. At least he does have lots of HP to spare. And the other enemies aren't nearly as strong as the knights (knights have 30 attack, conches have 22 and the bats even less).
Thankfully Lowe moves right away to help his roommate. Also Arthur kills a conch on counter, which is awesome.
On Turn 5 he one hit kills another Conch and I regret scrolling fast because he gets another massive level up which i would've liked to screenshot. Lots of 4 and 5, you had to see it. Really wild how good he is if you put in the effort.
Tumblr media
Tao obliterates the greatest threat we faced here.
Tumblr media
I decide Max can just tank for a while and maybe, just maybe, Anri can get something more out of this.
Since the battle is ending I waste a whole Aura of Narsha just to heal Arthur's poison damage. She gets 20 exp out of that, which is wonderful, I love mass healing.
Tumblr media
Hanzou continues to be wonderful. I was right about the rings.
Tumblr media
She gets a level! :D
Turn 6. I start worrying about the bonus and decide Arthur should just kill the final enemy. Arthur proceeds to miss. Then Domingo gets a Freeze on the thing and I decide to risk things a bit and wait for Anri to get the kill. Not like she can miss, I'm just paranoid about doing things tight like this.
But never mind that! Everything goes perfectly fine, and she gets… 9 exp.
Please let this filler end already.
[insert screenshot of the clear bonus here, i hit the image limit but we did get it]

In Merlin's chambers.
Merlin: (pacing, anxious and worried)
Gaius: (enters)
Merlin: (turns to Gaius quickly) How is he? Is he going to be okay?
Gaius: (serious) The King had a seizure, but he's stable now. He should be awake by tomorrow morning.
Merlin: (sighs in relief) Thank the gods!
Gaius: Now sit down (takes Merlin to the bed and sits him) I need to check your bruise.
Merlin: There's no need. It's not serious.
Gaius: (sharply) I know. But these are Prince's orders. (Checks Merlin's cheek) It's a bit swollen, but you'll live. (Puts ointment on the bruise) This should do. Now... (Very serious) What happened?
Merlin: (ashamed) I... I think I pissed him off so bad he collapsed.
Gaius: I figured, Merlin. Uther hit you. It's not difficult to put two and two together. What I need to know is WHAT did you do to piss Uther off so bad he collapsed.
Merlin: (more ashamed, mumbles) I...deny but-then he-and I...
Gaius: Merlin I need every detail, word by word what exactly did you tell the King, so I can find a way to defend you.
Merlin tells him exactly what happened and Gaius hears every word patiently, even when he feels the need to yell at Merlin every 30 seconds for how insolent and reckless Merlin had been.
Gaius: (after Merlin finishes) Alright... There's no way to defend you.
Merlin: What?! 😰
Gaius: You did not only defy the King's authority and raise your voice at him, you mocked him and insulted him! What were you thinking?!😡
Merlin: I don't know! I did what you said: deny, be submissive, be respectful, but he still believed I was guilty and then he said he would send me away from Arthur and I just... got mad!
Gaius: You should've been grateful Uther just wanted to send you away! You'll be lucky if he even grants you a quick and painless death now! You think that Uther is Arthur and will put up with your disrespect? He is the King!
Merlin: I know! I just.. forgot it for a moment. (sighs) I'll pack my things.
Gaius: Why?
Merlin: You said there was no way to defend me, so I'm leaving, like Uther sentenced.
Gaius: (lets out a dry laugh) You really don't get it, do you?
Merlin: (confused) What?
Gaius: How bad you really messed up! (stands up abruptly and moves his hands around as he talks in distress) When I told you'll be lucky if Uther grants a quick and painless death now, I meant it! Everyone thinks you tried to kill the King! And, honestly, I don't blame them. You were alone with the King when he "fainted" and have a fighting mark on your face. If I didn't know you, I would've believe it too. And you do realise that's the worst crime someone can be accused of, right?
Merlin: (pales) But I didn't-And Uther knows I-
Gaius: You think that with how paranoid he has been he won't think you provoque this seizure on him on purpose?
Merlin: ...
Gaius: Once Uther wakes up, you'll be enemy of the crown. You'll be hunted down so bad, not even outside Camelot you'll be safe. And when they get you... (his voice wavers, not able to say it, and sits on the bed again, defeated)
Merlin: But... I'm sure Arthur can do some-
Gaius: Arthur! Even he understands the gravity of the situation more than you do. Do you know where is the prince now?
Merlin: Looking after his father. Where else could he be?
Gaius: ...
Merlin: That's where he is, right?
Gaius: ...
Merlin: Gaius, where is Arthur?
Arthur in a reunion with all his Knights.
Arthur: I won't force you to participate. If your loyalty lays more with Uther than with me, I completely understand. He is still the King after all. But I need to know who will be on my side.
Merlin: (enters) Arthur! (runs to him)
Sir Innprudence: (murmurs) The apple of discord has arrived.
Sir Leon: (hits him, whispering) Silence!
Merlin: Tell me is not truth. Tell me you are not planning to overthrow the king!
Arthur: Alright, I won't tell you.
Merlin: Arthur!
Sir Ewan: (murmuring) Like he didn't plan this from the beginning.
Sir Leon: (whispers) Really? You too?
Sir Ewan: (whispers back) Is his fault we are about to do a rebellion! To think we defended him. But now we know what he is. A poisonous snake-
Merlin: You can't overthrow your own father, are you mad?! I won't let you!
Sir Owain: Listen to him, Sire!
Sir Ewan: Yes, he's talking nothing but reason!
Sir Leon: (whispers to Ewan) Didn't you just say he was a poisonous snake?
Sir Ewan: (whispers back) What are you talking about? I'd never talk bad about The Unicorn Catcher.
Arthur: Don't be ridiculous, Merlin. I'm not really overthrowing my father.
Merlin: You are not? 😧
Arthur: You think I'd take my father's throne by force when he's unconscious and therefore incapable of defending himself in any way? That's not just treason, is dishonorable!
Merlin: (sighs in relief)
Arthur: This is just a back up plan.
Merlin: A back up plan?
Arthur: Yes, my first plan is to try to talk him out of executing you as soon as he wakes up. If he forgives your life, everything will be solved.
Merlin: ... And if he doesn't?
Arthur: That's what the back up plan is for. 😊
Merlin: ...
Knights: ...
Sir Innprudence: Rebellion it is.😔
Merlin: You can't be serious. Arthur, you know Uther won't forgive me!
Arthur: (in denial) Don't be so negative, Merlin. I can try to persuade him. It might work.
Merlin: Arthur-
Arthur: This is just a last resort! If he doesn't see reason, I'll challenge him into a duel-
Merlin: Arthur-
Arthur: If he doesn't accept the duel, i'll ask the court for their support-
Merlin: Arthur-
Arthur: And if I don't have enough support-
Merlin: (shouts) You won't have it! Why would the court help you save the life of a servant? Especially one that is suspected of trying to kill the King! You can't ascend the throne this way. Your legitimacy to the throne will be questioned and your reputation ruined! It's outrageous enough that you are even considering this. He is your father!
Arthur: (shouts) I WON'T LET HIM TAKE YOU FROM ME!
Merlin: ...
Arthur: For years he made feel unworthy of his love. He made me feel guilty for my mother's death since I was a kid. I did EVERYTHING to get his approval. I trained hard, I isolated myself with tones of books, went to quests, I killed in his name! And then what does he do? Insult me, hit me, imprison me and take every piece of happiness I have! He sacked my first nursemaid because she was too soft on me, he killed my first hunting dog because I was getting too attached to it. "Don't show weakness Arthur, why are you crying Arthur? The darkness of the dungeons scares you? Stop acting like a baby, you are turning 8 tomorrow!"
Merlin: (covers his mouth with his hands, wide eye)
Kinghts: (just as shocked) ...
Arthur: I tolerated him a lot of things. But not this. Not with you. I won't let him take my happiness once more!
Merlin: (thinking in awe and emotional) He... he considers me part of his happiness? 🥺
Arthur and Merlin: (get lost in each other's eyes)
Knights: ...
Sir Innprudence: (coughs) Well, the rebellion is not going to make itself.
Leon: (hits him with his elbow and mutters) They were having a moment! (aloud) You can count on me, Sire.
Sir Owain: And me!
Sir Ewan: And me!
Sir Innprudence: Yeah, we already escaped the dungeons. What's another rebellious act?
Leon: (lifting his sword) For the love of Camelot!
All Knights: For the love of the Prince!
Time skip. In Gaius Tower.
Merlin: (enters, very serious)
Gaius: Did you convince the Prince of not doing the rebellion?
Merlin: In fact, he convinced me.
Gaius: What?
Merlin: Did you know Uther put Arthur in dungeons as a punishment when he was 8? Or should I say since?
Gaius: ... Where is this coming from?
Merlin: (barely contained anger) You knew, didn't you? You knew and you didn't do anything!
Gaius: I did what I could! I can't very well confront the king about his parenting methods, Merlin. Unlike you, I know my place.
Merlin: Parenting methods? That's abuse! He was just a child! And I... (thinking) I never noticed. Those times Uther sent Arthur and Morgana to the dungeons, I just assumed they were isolated cases. But they were routine for them. How much did I actually miss in my other life?
Gaius: Uther wasn't the best father, I won't deny that. But does he deserves to lose his crown for that? Besides, this is not just about him. A rebellion will put the life of many at stake. Blood will be spilled. Do you want that on your conscience? On Arthur's conscience?
Merlin: No! Of course not. But if Uther hasn't been a shitty father, Arthur's mind wouldn't be as set as it is now. He killed his dog for gods' sake!
Gaius: What does that has to do with anything?
Merlin: Arthur is not doing this because of me. Apparently this was just the last straw. (thinking) Though it's odd he never reacted like this in my other life. He never thought of doing a rebellion when Uther wanted to kill Gwen. And Arthur always thought high of Uther even years after he died. What changed to make Arthur stop idolizing his father so soon?
Gaius: The last straw? YOU were the last straw! 😡 You and your audacity, your boldness, your lack of self-preservation-
Merlin: I get it, I get it. This is all my fault. You can scold me and ground me all you want later. Now we need solutions. How can we stop Arthur from doing the rebellion?
Gaius: Honestly, Merlin, sending you to talk him out of it was the only hope I had.
Merlin: (thoughtful) Hmmm... Maybe... there wouldn't be a need for a rebellion if...
Gaius: If?
Merlin: (hesitantly) Uther weren't to wake up?
Gaius: (escandalized) Merlin! Are you suggesting to kill the King? 😱
Merlin: No! Never! I wouldn't do that to Arthur! But you must admit it would solve a lot of thing-
Gaius: Shut your mouth! You are speaking treason! Those words alone could get you hanged!
Merlin: I'm pretty much dead now, Gaius. But you're right, I shouldn't joke with those things. (thoughtful again) What can we do?
Gaius: (brings a hand to his chest) You're going to make my heart leave my body one of these days, I swear.
Merlin: (gets an idea) Leave! That's it! (makes a move to leave)
Gaius: (stops him) Where are you going?
Merlin: I'm going to pack my things and leave Camelot. 😊
Gaius: You think running away from your problems is going to solve anything?
Merlin: No, but it'll keep Arthur busy.
Gaius: ...What?
Merlin: Here's the plan. Hear me out. Arthur told me he didn't want Uther to take me from him because I'm part of his happiness. (smiles a little, blushing)
Gaius: Really, Merlin? This is not the time for blushing.
Merlin: I'm not-It's good to feel appreciated sometimes. Anyways, this means Arthur cares enough for me to look for me if I'm gone, right?
Gaius: I would say that more than enough, actually, but yes.
Merlin: So if I leave and hide, Arthur will be too busy trying to find me that he won't have time to organize his rebellion. There, problem solved!
Gaius: That's your great plan. Playing hide and seek with the Prince.
Merlin: Yep. 😊
Gaius: Yes, he'd probably go nuts looking for you, just as he probably would speed up the rebellion in the hope that you will return as soon as the threat is over.
Merlin: ...
Merlin: Okay, I didn't think of that.
Gaius: (sighs)
Merlin: You are not giving me many ideas either, Gaius!
Gaius: Well, for now, I'll do the only thing I can. (picks up a potion and starts leaving)
Merlin: What are you going to do?
Gaius: (defeated) Delay the inevitable. To buy you some time.
Merlin: (keeps looking at Gaius, confused)
Gaius: (sighs) I'm going to drug the King. (leaves)
Time skip. Emergency reunion in Morgana's chambers with Merlin, Gwen and Lancelot.
Lancelot: Arthur even asked me to join the knights in the rebellion.
Gwen: He seems pretty determined, Merlin. Reasoning or trying to sweet persuade him is not going to make him change his mind this time.
Merlin: I know, I tried. (sighs) There must be something we can do!
Morgana: (enters) Sorry, I'm late. Someone had to look after Uther. (gives Merlin a look)
Merlin: (guilty) Morgana-
Morgana: Don't. I know you didn't mean for any of this to happen. And I don't blame you, truly. If I told you all the times Uther made me lose my temper.
Merlin: Yeah, the difference is no one would ever believe you tried to kill the King because of that.
Gwen: There are still many Unicorn Catcher defenders between the servants if that's any consolation to you.
Merlin: It is not. (to Morgana, hopeful) You think you can convince Arthur of not doing this?
Morgana: You think I haven't tried? I even told him he would hurt Uther less if he killed him in his sleep rather than force him to fight his own son in battle, that he was being a monster by doing this, but he went all "this is the honorable way" and all.
Merlin: Perfect. Unless Gaius can sedate Uther forever, we are screw.
Morgana: Have you tried seducing him? 😏
Merlin: This is not time for jokes, Morgana. 😒
Morgana: (thinking) It would work if you weren't so blind to Arthur's feelings. 🤦 (sighs and says) Fine. What about crying to him?
Merlin: Morgana, this is serious!
Morgana: I am serious! How do you think I survived Uther's strict education for so long? Crying was my way to get away with some things with Uther and avoid or reduce some of his punishments. Of course it stopped working when he realised I was faking, but my point is: Pendragons are weak to tears and Arthur is not the exception. When I first came to the castle we didn't get along well. Arthur was jealous that I had all of Uther's attention and believed he was softer on me than him. He wouldn't swordplay with me no matter how much I asked, so what do you think I did?
Merlin: ...Cry?
Morgana: I cried so hard Arthur panicked and gave me his own sword to play. There was also this time some nobel kid made me cry and Arthur kicked him in the crotch.
Gwen: Oh, I remember that! It was so funny.
Lancelot: So you are suggesting manipulation, my lady?
Morgana: I wouldn't call it manipulation. I would call it... Plan T!
Merlin: Plan T?
Morgana: T of using tears as a way to presuade Arthur.
Merlin: That's manipulation!
Morgana: Well, we're running out of options. Besides, I sincerely believe that it can work. It's very easy, just look. (purses her lips and then her eyes begin to water, until tears run down her eyes and then she cries uncontrollably)
Merlin: (worried) Morgana?
Lancelot: Are you alright, my lady?
Morgana: (suddenly stops crying and wips her tears) See? 💁‍♀️
Merlin and Lancelot: (totally shocked) ... 😨😨
Gwen: (claps) You are so talented my lady! 😊
Morgana: It's easy. You just have to hold your breath, gag with your mouth closed and then just focus on the burning in your eyes until your eyes water and, finally, you let out all the frustration in the form of tears. Once you master that, you go to Arthur like this: (goes to Gwen and kneels before her, holding her hands. Then she starts crying all over again) "Please, Arthur, stop this! It's all my fault!" (hits her chest rugly) "I've caused all this. If blood is spilled because of me, I couldn't live with myself. (clinges to Gwen's legs) If you do this, I... I'd rather... disappear!" (faints)
Merlin: ...
Lancelot: ...
Gwen: (amazed) She's good, isn't she? 😃😁
Lancelot: I'll never trust the tears of a woman ever again.
Morgana: (stands up and turns to Merlin) See? Just like that.
Merlin: Yeah, I'm not doing that.
Morgana: You have to! If Arthur notices your anguish he will reconsider.
Merlin: Why don't you do it then?
Morgana: I did and he just sent me to Gaius. The problem when you use a trick too much is that people start to build up immunity to it. Besides, this is something Arthur would expect from me, but he would never expect it from you. With you he'll really be struck down.
Merlin: But... I don't want to lie to him. (thinking) No when I can help it.
Morgana: Technically you wouldn't be lying. You feel guilty, don't you?
Merlin: Of course I do!
Morgana: Then you'd just be amplifying your feelings! Now... (pulls Merlin and puts him infront of Lancelot) Lets practice. Imagine Lancelot is Arthur.
Lancelot: What? 😰
Merlin: Morgana this is ridiculous.😒
Morgana: Want to stop the rebellion?
Merlin: Yes, but-
Morgana: Then cry to Lancelot. Now.
Merlin: (sighs and tries to use Morgana's technique, holding his breath)
Morgana: You are forgetting to gag.
Merlin: (starts to gag)
Morgana: With your mouth close!
Merlin: (tries to do that, but fails and starts coughing)
Morgana: Okay, close enough. At least your eyes are a bit watery. Now kneel and hold Lancelot's hands.
Merlin: (kneels before Lancelot and holds his hands)
Lancelot: (puts his hands away in reflex, scared)
Gwen: Lance!
Lancelot: Sorry. My survival instinct. Do we really have to hold hands?
Morgana: Yes, we have to make this as realistic as possible.
Lancelot: And the Prince won't come in at any moment?
Gwen: The doors are closed and Arthur is too busy with this whole rebellion thing. You are safe, love.
Lancelot: (blushes a little at the use of the nickname) Alright (holds Merlin's hands, though he's still tense)
Morgana: Now, Merlin, your lines.
Merlin: (uncomfortable) Uh... Please, Arthur. Stop-
Morgana: No! You have to do it with more emotion!
Merlin: (raises his voice) Please, Arthur! Stop this! Is my fault (pats his chest)
Morgana: That hand, with more force! You're desperate!
Merlin: (hits his chest harder) I've caused all this!-
Morgana: The tears! where are the tears?!
Merlin: (tries to do Morgana's technice again but ends up doing a weird face) If blood is... spilled... I.... I can't live with myself...
Gwen: Now he looks constipated.
Morgana: The legs! Hug his legs!
Merlin: (hugs Lancelot's legs awkwardly)
Morgana: Tighter! You'll die if he doesn't change his mind!
Merlin: (hugs tighter)
Lancelot: (thinking, trying not to panic) Arthur won't come in, the doors are closed, Arthur won't come in, the doors are closed, Arthur won't come in-
Merlin: If you do this I'll... ARGH! I CAN'T DO THIS! (stands up, frustrated) I CAN'T CRY! THIS IS USELESS! I... (thinking) I lost my ability to cry like that long ago. I rarely cried in years and when I did I did it silently, swallowing my tears. Not even when I believed Arthur would die I cried like this. (Says, sad) We're doomed. The rebellion will happen, people will die and it will be all my fault, because I always ruin everything somehow! Maybe the problem all this time was me. Maybe Arthur would be actually better if I just didn't exist!
Gwen: ...
Lancelot: ...
Morgana: There! You have to hold to that emotion when you cry to Arthur.
Merlin: Didn't you just hear me? I CAN'T CRY!
Morgana: That can be arranged.
Time skip. In Gaius' tower.
Merlin: (enters) Gaius.
Gaius: How was your reunion? Did you find a solution?
Merlin: (hesitanly) I think, but... I need something... from you.
Gaius: (confused) What is it that you need?
Merlin: Do you have something there that can... make someone's eyes tear like... a lot?
Gaius: I think so, but... What's the plan exactly?
Merlin: Literally cry my way out of this.
....
Will Merlin be able to cry to the prince? find out in the next episode of "Merlin: the apple of discord"
Also credits to my best friend Rosangela, who gave me most of the ideas for diolagues in this part and others too.

The Princess Of The Empire And Her Beloved Knight – Tamerlane Usher/Arthur Pym
A/N: Part 2, pure smut.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Relationships come and go, Arthur tells himself. Tamerlane’s need for him will fade. Except, it doesn’t. Roderick pressures her for more, more Goldbug, more success. Madeline reduces the girl to tears near daily and his heart burns for her. Then, finally, Frederick dies. Arthur swears he saw the woman, the same as was with Perry, before the man died. He doesn’t bother to chase her, choosing to sit at the funeral, wait, try to sooth whatever comes next. She slips into his car with a sigh, her voice is soft, almost pleading. She needs him, he can tell from the shake in her voice and he knows, he knows, neither of them is stopping this anymore. “Take me somewhere… somewhere we can just be us.” So he does. He takes her out to the wilderness, his favorite spot overlooking the town, empty as always. She slips into his lap like a whisper, underwear left tucked in the back seat pockets, his quick work to unzip as he comes around rewarded with her whimper as she settles over him, head tilting back just enough he can see the eagerness in her movements. He’s content here, he thinks, pressed deep inside her. She sets her pace and he waits, waits and loves. Then, as she’s shuddering her way through her first release, he picks her up, settles her back onto the backseat and settles over her, moving deeper, harder, more possessively against her until her body arches, a near scream of pure pleasure escaping her even as he feels her clench, fighting herself to not want more. He waits, she relaxes and he dares to pull her into him harder, burying himself deeper than ever as he lets himself go, his lips finding her ear. “We’ll have to tell them… soon.” She whines at that then looks up at him with eyes full of want. “Not tonight… tonight just…. Take me home. Stay….” He sighs, he should say no, but then he agrees. They make it home with her still barely able to sit up enough to be safe with her seatbelt but he knows as he parks she doesn’t care. They walk in, together, then once they are safely inside her home, door locks changed after Bill, he strips them both, eagerness turns to pure lust, her desperate clinging forcing him to pick her up, his body already alert, ready for more. They make it, barely, to the bed, he sets her down and moves over her, feeling her shiver even as she stretches her arms over her head, slim fingers clinging to the bed frame, new, mirrorless and designed for this. He’s inside her again in minutes, both ready, willing, wanting, her eyes closing even as he drinks in the sight of her, copper hair spread across the pillows, pale skin alight with pleasure, arching perfectly to every small movement. He had lied, directly to Roderick’s face, swearing he was no longer capable of this.  Now, he thinks, he doesn’t care what comes next, not with Tamerlane like this. Tamerlane’s eyes open exactly as she presses harder against him, close, so close she’s almost sobbing with need and he pulls, just a little more, slotting her perfectly against him as they both tip into another release, his breathing hitching just a little at her soft sob of ‘Don’t stop’. He doesn’t, pushing for more and more and more, dragging her through several more releases, his own body responding to her need with surprising eagerness. She is his. All his.

Merlin Scar Reveal Part 2(final part)
Merlin tries to pretend nothing happened, Arthur says “that’s stupid.”
Part 1
Merlin’s nightmares last for the rest of the afternoon and extend well into the night.
The heat certainly doesn’t help, and it takes all of Gaius’ effort to keep his temperature low enough to not boil him from the inside out, but he manages with help from the knights. Mordred and Lancelot refuse to leave the servant’s side of course, but the others loiter in the corridor the entire time, and take turns sprinting to the cold store and kitchens for ice water and cloths.
It was difficult to stand there waiting, being given scraps of information on Merlin’s condition, especially when most of the scraps consist of something along the lines of “Hopefully he’ll snap out of it by the morning.”, which was certainly not helped when the occasional whimper floated out to them from the young servant’s room.
After a few hours, Leon was the one to draw the short straw to go and talk to Arthur. Whilst all of them were mildly miffed that Arthur had pushed Merlin so far, they knew that ultimately, it was all of their faults. All of them had pushed him, and none of them had protected him from being injured in the first place. None of them knew how much he had suffered, was still suffering. Considering Arthur’s... extra feelings for his servant, it was no wonder he’d reacted even worse than the others.
The First Knight agrees to go, knowing he had the best chance of talking some sense into The King, though he refuses to leave until he sees each of the others settle in their beds; it had been a long day, and would likely be an even longer day tomorrow. They all need as much sleep as they can get.
Arthur doesn’t answer when Leon knocks on his door, but the knight lets himself in after a few moment regardless, doing so quietly so as not to startle the man if he was asleep or, more likely, deep in thought.
The King was sat at his desk, chin resting on his hands, and Leon has to stamp down the surge of protective adrenaline in his lungs when he sees the dry tear tracks on the younger man’s face. He doesn’t notice Leon’s presence, not even when he very deliberately clears his throat, so the knight walks over to him slowly, rapping his knuckles harshly on the desk. That finally catches Arthur’s attention, and he looks up with a start, hands reaching for the sword that Leon knows he has hidden under the desk.
The King lets out a deep breath and relaxes back in his seat when he sees that it’s just Leon, hastily wiping his eyes before clearing his throat and looking up with a fake confidence:
“Sir Leon, what can I do for you?”
Leon just raises an eyebrow, but when Arthur holds strong and doesn’t react he lets out a deep sigh and collapses into the seat on the other side of the desk:
“Come on, Arthur. We need to talk about this.”
Arthur gulps, trying to keep his unaffected façade up, but failing and dropping it after only a few moments; something about the soft, overly concerned look Leon was giving him made him want to wrap himself in blankets and sob himself to sleep. He frowns and just about manages to keep the tears in:
“Why wouldn’t he tell me? If not about the physical scars, then about all the times he’s been hurt. Does he not think I would’ve given him time to recover? Or, God forbid, helped him?”
Leon purses his lips slightly in thought, still having to make a concerted effort not to gather The King up in a tight hug as he considers his questions:
“I don’t think it’s about you, Arthur. Merlin is... a private person by nature, and he doesn’t like worrying people. You heard Mordred, he and Lance found out by accident, and even then Merlin tried to keep them away from it as long as possible.”
Arthur stands, the guilt and sadness in his gut now frothing with anger as well. He paces around to the centre of the room and Leon stands to watch him carefully:
“He can say it’s not about me as much as he wants, but I’m The King, Leon,-”
He whirls on the knight, and Leon clenches his jaw, resisting the urge to raise a mocking eyebrow. He knew to expect anger at some point, but that doesn’t mean Arthur was entitled to it:
“-I have a right to know what’s going on in my Kingdom. I should’ve been informed of Nimueh and Morgause’s deaths, I should’ve been informed that Cenred was torturing people for information. How many other countless adventures has Merlin had that have put himself, Me, the Kingdom in danger, simply because he didn’t want people to know much about him?? None of that was his call to make.”
Leon does raise an eyebrow at that, but Arthur was too busy furiously pacing to feel scolded quite yet. The older man crosses his arms and huffs slightly, waiting for The King to calm before responding:
“Be that as it may, that’s not why you’re angry. You can lie to yourself, Arthur, but you can’t lie to me, and you certainly shouldn’t lie to Merlin. If you go to him pretending that you’re angry because he put the Kingdom at risk, and not because you’re heartbroken at him having suffered so much, then he’ll never forgive you. And when you realise that, you’ll never forgive yourself.”
Arthur looks to Leon sharply, but the anger drains from his face within seconds and his whole body sags slightly, the exhaustion of the day having caught up to him. A glance to the now dark window tells him that it’s well into the evening, but he can’t find it in himself to be annoyed at the unfinished paperwork on his desk or the hunger in his stomach from not having eaten since before noon, not when he knows Merlin is being tortured by nightmares and injuries that have long since healed. Injuries that he should never have had in the first place. Leon waits patiently for Arthur to respond:
“I don’t want him to be in pain. I just want to help him.”
His cracking admission has Leon give up on holding himself back, and he strides towards The King to pull him into a tight embrace. Arthur tenses at first, but quickly falls into the older man’s affection, accepting a hug for the first time since he was a child. Leon responds softly, aware that he only had a short time before Arthur pulled away and put his walls back up:
“Merlin’s already in pain, Arthur, but that doesn’t mean we can’t now help him.-”
He feels Arthur nod into his shoulder and squeezes the man tighter for a moment before pulling back, keeping a tight grip on The King’s shoulders:
“Come on, you need to get some sleep.”
Arthur’s tired, longing gaze moves to the paperwork spread haphazardly over his desk, and Leon shakes his head, tugging Arthur’s shoulders so he looks back at him:
“No, work isn’t an option, your mind is not in any sort of state to be productive right now. You’re exhausted, Arthur, a few hours of sleep will do you some good; I hate to say it but The Kingdom won’t stop needing attention whilst we... sort through this, and you’ll need the energy tomorrow.”
Arthur shakes his head, stepping back and rubbing his eyes tiredly as he takes a deep breath and straightens his back. Leon steps back as well, re-introducing the respectful distance that should be between a King and his Knight, waiting for Arthur’s no doubt stoic response:
“The councilmen will survive without me for a day or two, if not then that really should be something I’m made aware of so I can get to replacing them. Merlin and I need to...-”
He cuts himself off and clears his throat:
“-has there been any news? Any change?”
Leon shakes his head, but catches Arthur’s wrist when he begins walking towards the door:
“Arthur. I just about managed to convince everyone else to get some sleep and you need it more than them.-”
Arthur looks back indignantly, failing to portray his Kingly Anger in his exhaustion and looking more like a scolded child:
“-You know I’m right. Get some sleep, Gaius will inform you if anything changes.”
For a moment, it looks like Arthur wants to argue, but he quickly lets out a deep, bone weary sigh, nodding before moving sluggishly towards his bed. Leon nods approvingly, muttering a soft “Goodnight, My Lord” and smiling slightly at Arthur’s hummed response before quietly exiting the chambers.
~
Arthur can convince himself, for a few blissful seconds, that it was all a bad dream when he wakes up the next morning.
His curtains are thrown wide open; the sunlight streams in and forces The young King to groan and roll over, attempting to shield his eyes from the brightness. Merlin’s cheery voice echoes throughout the various chambers:
“Come on, Sire, up and at ‘em!”
Arthur just grumbles a slurred “Fuck off.” before his brain wakes up and he throws himself from the bed, thankfully wearing sleep clothes but only just managing to catch himself on the bedside table before he falls over:
“Merlin!! What the hell are you- are you ok?! Did Gaius say you could get up?!”
Merlin looks back at him with the same disapproving, mocking glare he usually uses in the morning; Arthur is taken aback at the darkness in his eyes. He can’t quite decide if it made it’s first appearance this morning, or if it had always been there and he just hadn’t noticed. He doesn’t know which idea he hates more:
“I’m fine, Arthur, no need to worry about me. And for your information, I’m a fully trained physician, I don’t need Gaius telling me what I can and can’t do.-”
He rolls his eyes and turns to The King’s desk with a huff, gesturing at the mess:
“-It’s flattering that you rely on me so much Arthur, but really, this is ridiculous.”
Arthur is finally broken out of his shocked stupor, shaking his head disbelievingly and taking a few short steps towards his manservant. He goes to yell but quickly backtracks, snapping his mouth shut and taking a deep breath before trying again, softly this time:
“Merlin... we have to talk about yesterday.”
Merlin’s reaction is immediate and harsh. The quill that he had picked up from Arthur’s desk snaps in his sudden tight grip and the tension in his shoulders is painful looking. He freezes for just a moment before forcing himself to relax, casually throwing the broken quill into a waste basket before continuing to organise the desk, refusing to look up at The King:
“No, we really don’t. I’m fine, My Lord.”
The lack of sarcasm or sass in Arthur’s title worries The King greatly, but the way Merlin regains more and more of the tension in his shoulders the closer Arthur walks to him is even more worrying:
“Merlin... look at me.-”
The servant gulps, biting his lip at he stares at the desk for a few more moments before forcing himself to look up. He recoils slightly at the tears in Arthur’s eyes, but doesn’t allow himself to look away. Arthur opens his mouth to say something, but is interrupted by the door to his chambers opening with a bang as Mordred and Lancelot rush in. They’re both red-faced and panting, speaking at the same time:
“I swear to the Gods if he snuck out of bed to work, I’ll-”
“I apologise My Lord, I don’t suppose you’ve seen-”
They both freeze as they see Merlin stood behind Arthur’s desk, paperwork crumpled in his tight grip and face fallen into a annoyed frown. Arthur throws his hands up, frustrated as he paces and mumbles:
"Just... come in why don’t you. No, don’t worry about knocking just run on in like you own the damn place.”
Lancelot spares him a quick glance but locks the door behind him and crosses his arms like an angry mother as he looks to the irate servant:
“Merlin, we’ve talked about this, you’re meant to take the morning off after a bad night, Gaius says-”
Merlin just rolls his eyes and turns away, interrupting Lancelot’s scolding as he continues to tidy around the room, his annoyance evident in his harsh tone and hurried movements:
“I’m a physician too, and I say I’m fine. I would like to just... get on with things, please.”
Arthur has to stop himself from recoiling at the way Lance and Mordred’s faces fall, the pain and grief sadder than anything he’s ever seen in their expressions before. He takes a moment to think before giving the two of them a pointed look and quietly asking:
“Can you give us a minute?”
Lancelot looks doubtful, but willing. Mordred plants his feet and crosses his arms, raising an eyebrow. He doesn’t say anything, but it’s obvious he has no intention of leaving Merlin’s side; as much as Arthur finds that admirable on a personal level, as King it’s unacceptable. He’s normally not a fan of pulling rank among friends, but maybe that’s because he normally doesn’t need to. Perhaps this whole mess was his fault, Mordred obviously felt so, but Arthur could hardly fix it with them glaring over his shoulder. He raises himself to his full height, a good few inches above Mordred, and uses the tone of voice he normally reserves for particularly difficult councilmen:
“You forget whose presence you are in, Sir Mordred, you’d do well to remember again. You are both dismissed.”
Mordred’s eyes go wide and he takes in a sharp breath, but after a quick glance to Merlin’s turned back he dutifully bows and walks from the room stiffly. Lancelot’s postures straightens as well, and he follows Mordred after a confident:
“We’ll be in Gaius’ chambers should you require anything, My Lord.”
Merlin was oblivious to the conversation, though Arthur reckons he was deliberately ignoring it as opposed to being actually unaware, especially with the way the servant’s shoulders relax when the door shuts behind the second knight.
Arthur sighs as Merlin continues to putter around the room, refusing to look him in the eye; he leans against the edge of the desk and crosses his arms:
“Merlin,-”
His voice is soft, but the servant still doesn’t look at him, giving a non-committal hum as he clears out the hearth with shaking hands:
“-come here, please.”
Merlin freezes for just a moment, and if the problem wasn’t so glaringly the context of the situation, Arthur may have been able to fool himself into believing that Merlin was just shocked he said please. The younger man stands slowly, turning to walk towards Arthur with his gaze stuck to the floor. He stops with about five feet of space between them and Arthur sighs again, closing the gap until only a few inches separates them. The King ignores the tears gathering in both of their eyes as he lifts a hesitating hand, dropping it softly on Merlin’s shoulder only when the servant doesn’t flinch away:
“Merlin, I... you mean a great deal to me, and I know I don’t say that often enough, or at all, really. You... look after me, keep me alive and unhurt, evidently more than I had originally thought. You make me a good King, and a better man.-”
Merlin looks up at him sharply and Arthur can tell that he’s about to argue, so he squeezes his shoulder and quickly hurries on:
“-You’ve been hurt, you’ve suffered in your service to me, and that’s unacceptable but it’s also my fault; I should’ve made it clear that I would protect you from anything. These scars prove your strength, but I understand not wanting to acknowledge them, so I promise I will never ask again. You tell me when you’re ready, and if that’s never, then that’s completely fine.-”
Merlin seems surprised by the promise, and the tears slowly dripping from his wide eyes just make Arthur regret yesterday even more. After a second or two of shock, Merlin visibly relaxes, relieved with the knowledge that he doesn’t have to expect the conversation that he really doesn’t want to have. Arthur gives him a weak smile before continuing:
“-I’m sorry, but I’m also grateful. Thank you, Merlin. But...-”
Merlin re-tenses at the “but” and Arthur squeezes his shoulder again, giving him what he hopes is a reassuring smile:
“-please don’t keep doing this alone. I... I don’t expect you to ask me for help, though I would drop anything in a heartbeat to keep you safe. Even... even if it’s Gwaine, just... I don’t want you disappearing off to save the Kingdom only to never come back again because no one knows where you are.”
Merlin smiles weakly at the disdain in Arthur’s voice when he mentions Gwaine, but quickly frowns again and looks at the floor. He gaze stays lowered when he asks his one word question, his voice quiet and ragged:
“Anything?”
Arthur frowns for a second, confused about what Merlin was asking, but quickly realises, lifting the other man’s chin with his hand, his voice a whisper:
“Merlin, I would give up the Kingdom to rid you of the burden you’ve place upon yourself. I just want you safe and happy and by my side.”
Merlin once again looks like he wants to argue, but a quiet sob falls from his mouth instead and Arthur, damning the consequences and his stupid reputation, pulls the younger man into a tight hug, cradling his head into his shoulder and running a soft hand up and down his back. A few tears of his own slip free but he finds he doesn’t care that much as Merlin shakes in his arms; he presses a barely-there kiss to Merlin’s temple and begins swaying slightly on the spot, wanting more than anything to take away his servant’s pain.
Merlin’s cries slow to a stop after what feels like hours, but Arthur doesn’t let go quite yet, eyeing the unmade bed over Merlin’s shoulder with eagerness, knowing that neither he nor Merlin had slept well last night. He feels Merlin stifle yawn against his shoulder and that just strengthens his resolve; he squeezes the younger man to get his attention and then speaks quietly:
“Reckon the council can survive without me later?”
Merlin clears his throat and responds, but still doesn’t let go:
“Doubtful, but Leon and Morgana could probably whip them into shape. Why?”
Arthur nods and pulls back, frowning at the slight panic in Merlin’s eyes when he steps away but doesn’t mention it, letting his hand slide down from the servant’s shoulder to grip his hand. Merlin visibly relaxes, but still looks confused as Arthur tugs him towards the bed gently; he allows himself to be pushed to sit on the edge and looks up at Arthur questioningly. The blond stops himself from grinning widely at the trust in his expression, instead turning away to shut the curtains and lock the door as he says:
“Shoes and belt off, I fancy a nap, how about you?”
He was expecting an argument, so he's surprised when he turns back to the bed to see Merlin softly smiling as he sets his shoes and belt on the bedside table neatly. They both climb under the covers wordlessly, and Merlin doesn’t hesitate to curl into Arthur’s side when he holds his arms out to him.
The King holds his servant close, tucking his head against his chest and burying his chin in his soft hair, his arms wound around Merlin tightly. Merlin closes his eyes without issue, finding himself unafraid of the darkness or the nightmares or the firm touch against his back for the first time since his collection of scars began.
The warrior sleeps, plagued by nothing but pleasant dreams and the warmth of a protection he knows he can trust.
~
THE END!!
That took me FOREVER to write, writer’s block really does suck, but I’m glad I finally got it finished. I feel like it’s a little underwhelming, but I hope y‘all like it :)

since anon asked about him, what do you think of Arthur? he is well liked in the fandom, “the best knight in the 7K and the sword of the morning” yet he (like the rest of the kingsguards) did nothing to protect Rhaella, Elia and her children, or even Lyanna. what a great knight 🤷‍♀️
i don't like him lol he is the definition of a false knight- he served aerys without stepping in like the other kingsguards, then he went along with rhaegar's daft plan and despite everything that went down, he was willing to fight ned while ned's sister was dying. also this
And he'd held his own against the Smiling Knight, though it was Ser Arthur who slew him. What a fight that was, and what a foe. The Smiling Knight was a madman, cruelty and chivalry all jumbled up together, but he did not know the meaning of fear. And Dayne, with Dawn in hand . . . The outlaw's longsword had so many notches by the end that Ser Arthur had stopped to let him fetch a new one. "It's that white sword of yours I want," the robber knight told him as they resumed, though he was bleeding from a dozen wounds by then. "Then you shall have it, ser," the Sword of the Morning replied, and made an end of it.
this isn't honor, this is unnecessary, arthur's making a show of it all when he could have ended the whole thing. that's the best way to describe arthur, all flashy style but no substance.
one thing i find interesting is how arthur is dornish but never associated with any dornish character besides his sister and thats only because she received his sword when he died. he was in dragonstone when elia arrived with her dornish retinue. there's talk of rhaegar interacting with them but not arthur dayne. he never mentions rhaenys or aegon or reacts to their deaths in either ned or jaime's dreams. in fact, it's aerys that holds that place
"I never thought he'd hurt them." Jaime's sword was burning less brightly now. "I was with the king . . . "Killing the king," said Ser Arthur.
he also doesn't say anything about rhaegar's death but the other 2 kingsguards' reactions say a lot.
"I looked for you on the Trident," Ned said to them. "We were not there," Ser Gerold answered. "Woe to the Usurper if we had been," said Ser Oswell.
"When King's Landing fell, Ser Jaime slew your king with a golden sword, and I wondered where you were." "Far away," Ser Gerold said, "or Aerys would yet sit the Iron Throne, and our false brother would burn in seven hells." "I came down on Storm's End to lift the siege," Ned told them, "and the Lords Tyrell and Redwyne dipped their banners, and all their knights bent the knee to pledge us fealty. I was certain you would be among them."
"But not of the Kingsguard," Ser Gerold pointed out. "The Kingsguard does not flee." "Then or now," said Ser Arthur. He donned his helm. "We swore a vow," explained old Ser Gerold.
arthur's dead so these are not actual things he said but the author wants us to associate them with him. elia on the other hand is almost always associated with dorne. this is ironic because people shipped elia with arthur (it's the only elia ship to have its own fan weeks) simply because he was also dornish. had it not been for arthur's last name and sword, you wouldn't know he was born in dorne.
part of me wonders if its because he went to king's landing earlier than we think (maybe even as a squire). regardless i don't like him. he was complicit in rhaegar's disastrous plans which ended up killing elia, rhaenys and the baby.

Sonic may actually be lost royalty
Tumblr media
I keep going down these rabbit holes I shouldn’t go down BUT! Although this theory is one that I don’t fully believe in (unlike the infinite/solaris theory and the chaos emerald theory) I still have a good argument that I want to talk about very bad.
I also tried to make this as short as possible but there’s a lot of ground to cover, but at least it’s not the infinite/solaris theory. But I have a TLDR at the end.
[Spoiler Warning for Sonic and the Black Knight]
let’s start with a ✨numbered list✨
1. Blaze the Cat
Tumblr media
Blaze is the biggest caveat for this theory, but I think it’s best to start with her.
Now, firstly I need to clear up some things.
Tumblr media
[Eggman: My world...]
Tumblr media
[Eggman Nega: and my world...]
Tumblr media
[Eggmen: are in a manner, inextricably linked!]
Tumblr media
[Blaze: Like two Eggmans?]
Part of the Blaze’s world is that it’s a parallel universe. Parallel Eggmen, Parallel emeralds, Everything else that isn’t stated outright. Like how Tails and Marine are definitely counterparts. Seeming as Tails came from South Island and Marine came from southern island, Tails is definitely based on a kitsune and Marine, in theory, based on a tanuki.
And, although not stated completely, Blaze and Sonic are universal counterparts.
Tumblr media
[From Sonic Wiki: Blaze was designed as a charater who was equivalent yet and alternate version of Sonic’s character.]
Much like the Sol and Chaos emeralds, Sonic and Blaze are a mirror version of one another, although slightly different.
Alright, now that we have that out of the way:
Looking at the connections between the others, Sonic and Blaze seem, a bit too different.
The Sol and Chaos emeralds fulfill the same role, although their different appearance, and have a similar story.  Tails and Marine fulfill the same role, although their different appearance, and have a similar story. The Eggmen fulfill the same role, although their different appearance, and have a similar story.
Blaze and Sonic fulfill the same role, although their different appearance, and have a... completely different story.
Blaze was born to a royal family, and set to protect the Sol Emeralds and the Jeweled Scepter as her birthright, and it’s somewhat hinted that her powers may also be a birthright. Sonic, on the other hand, has no known past, and seems to have just run into the Chaos Emeralds by accident.
You could claim that Blaze does take on the role of both Sonic AND Knuckles, which is fair and stated on the wiki, however Knuckles is also never stated to be any kind of royalty, and certainly doesn’t have that kind of past, his past being one of the more tragically alone ones.
And here’s something interesting.
Time has warped our vision of Blaze. We all know her as “Princess Blaze the Cat.” But from watching Sonic Rush, her opening game... she is never mentioned to be a princess until the very end.
Tumblr media
[Burning Blaze: As princess, it is my duty to protect the Sol Emeralds...]
From what I remember, this is the FIRST mention of her royal status.
From this game’s viewpoint, they reveal the mirror status of the dimensions. They then show both Blaze and Sonic having mirror super transformations using their emeralds, highly implying that Sonic and Blaze were mirror versions. (also this was implied already by just Blaze’s shoes.) and then it’s revealed that Blaze is royal, and a princess.
So if she’s the mirror of Sonic, what does that mean for Sonic? Especially right after showing the two of them being, well, mirrors.
2. King Arthur
Tumblr media
SATBK is much less transparent about the counterpart universe thing.
Now this is an alternate universe, set up by Secret Rings, and surprisingly not just a story Sonic told as an elaborate excuse.
They don’t hide obivous Sonic characters being put into roles, and their in these roles for a reason.
Blaze and Silver as Percival and Galahad, the knights who quested together for the holy grail. Knuckles as Gawain literally only because of “Gawain and the Green Knight” But I respect that so much. Jet as Lamorak because of Lamorak’s fiery temper and competitiveness.  Shadow as Lancelot because he’s the “closest knight to the king” stated in game (👀) Tails as a Blacksmith because that’s p much the medieval version of a mechanic. Amy as the Lady of the Lake because like. Fuck she’s the most powerful one there. (but seriously, in forces she’s shown to be the most level headed leader and strangest, especially in Sonic’s absence. As well as “sensing” that he was still alive and having a past in tarot.) And Merlina as Merlina because... well that’s a whole other theory.
(all my theories are being brought up in the post. like i know the first two were expamples of theories I fully belive in but damn this is like a avengeners, ok,)
But Sonic as King Arthur makes sense when it’s revealed. Although he wasn’t anyone’s counterpart in Secret Rings (because secrets rings was confused as hell) He is in this game, and as the ring leader of everyone following him in SATBK, it makes sense.
Although something that was never brought up...EVER is the Knight’s backstories, which are EXTREMELY important not only in Arthurian legends, but for the knights in Sonic lore. All of the knight’s mentioned backstories are important to their character, in both contexts. Although their never brought up.
*DEEP BREATH* Alright. The similarities between Sonic Character/Knight backstories.
Shadow and Lancelot have pretty simmilar backstories when getting down to it. Shadow/Lancelot were both raised for greatness, but still outshined by Sonic/Arthur. Although remaining loyal to them, even if for Shadow it’s only in times of need. Shadow doesn’t want to admit he’s a supporting role to Sonic, although Sonic generations kinda throws that Idea out of the water when Shadow cheers Sonic on while watching from the sidelines, much like early Lancelot.
For Blaze and Percival, in multiple interpretations Percival is of noble birth. Upon meeting Sonic’s Gang/The Knights, Blaze/Percival get’s inspired by their heroics and eventually joins them.
“Lancelot and Percival prove morally superior to Gawain who follows the rules of courtliness to the letter rather than the spirit.“ Is an actual quote from Wikipedia. Although it is VERY hard to find a concrete backstory for Gawain other than “separated from his home”, I think this proves enough. As well as the Gawain and the Green Knight story (in which Gawain tries to slay the green knight and then he picks up his head and says “see you in a year” is pretty representative of Knuckles constantly breaking the master emerald in a comedic light.)
Lamorak/Jet are known for challenging Arthur/Sonic to competitions.
Galahad/Silver are searching for an object/person aided by Percival/Blaze
So now that we’re all good, do you see the similarities between part one.
Although everyone else has given backstory similarities, Sonic is given none, seeming as, as far as we know, Sonic HAS no backstory.
But isn’t it interesting that King Arthur’s backstory is being lost royalty? And the secret son of the king? Wack.
3. Sonic Fucking Underground
Tumblr media
Now, most of you are probably unfamiliar with Sonic Underground. Good.
If you’re not, you watched it as a kid and you’re nostalgic, and let me tell you I watched the entire show recently and it’s not as good as you remember.
But Sonic Underground’s quality and history could be a post on it’s own, it doesn’t matter here. What matters is the plot:
Tumblr media
[From Sonic Wiki: Sonic, Sonia, and Manic are the children of Queen Aleena, the rightful ruler of Mobius and are pursued relentlessly by Doctor Robotnik and his bumbling bounty hunters sidekicks, Sleet and Dingo. As infants, the siblings were separated and placed in hiding to fulfill a prophecy made by the Oracle of Delphius (a spoof of the Oracle of Delphi of Ancient Greece) that the triplets would grow up to find their estranged mother, overthrow Robotnik and take their places once more as Mobius' rightful rulers.]
FORGOTTEN ROYALTY YOU SAY.
Now, Sonic Underground is VERY SEPARATED from Sonic Lore, and nothing has ever taken from it besides Manic appearing in some comics, although from what I know he’s never mentioned to be Sonic’s brother. So This is the part I always take with a grain of salt, however;
4. In conclusion/TLDR
We have Two Instances of Sonic being lost Royalty (One in a separate reality and one in a separate continuity) We have Two Instances of Dimentional Counterparts of Sonic being Royalty (Blaze and King Arthur) We have zero given backstory for Sonic We have Three instances of Sonic, or a counterpart, being royalty
And from what I remember hearing, three’s a pattern.
