Hey! This is a bizarre ask but hopefully a welcome one after *gestures at the destruction and fire*. I’m completely new to the Loki/thorki fandom, having essentially come in via the exit door by watching the Loki tv series first. I was honestly just watching it for junk value to have something in the background while I knit. However, when I realized that I didn’t understand anything by the middle of Ep. 1, I went back to watch Thor 1 so I could get what was going on. And HOLY SHIT I was utterly captivated by Loki’s character in the original movie, as well as by the Loki-Thor and Odin family dynamics. I’ve now watched through the films and have been increasingly disappointed by the portrayal of Loki (since Avengers 1 frankly) save a few glimmers of good characterization here and there.

I can’t believe that I’m getting myself into another queer coded (and now more than coded wtf) “villain” with a tragic backstory who’s done dirty by the fandom at large, but here we are! I’m also super into thorki because goddamn… they sure do have a Dynamic™.

So I guess my question is, what is actually good here? I feel like I’ve been trying to fight my way back to Kenneth Branagh!Loki, and have been largely unsuccessful within canon content. Do you have suggestions for a newcomer re: fics, fanart, and meta that actually treats Loki seriously? (and thorki as well?)

And this isn't a bizarre ask at all. It was really nice to receive actually! And yeah! I'm so glad you went back and watched the originals. The TV Show character is a completely new character played by the same actor who has nothing in common with the original character (who yes is absolutely fascinating and captivating and multilayered). Honestly I just think of the tv character as Larry, Loki's dumb lookalike cousin bc they have nothing in common lol. So glad the show led to you discovering good content...and thorki. And yeah Thor 2011 is amazing! It's so underrated. If you want meta relating to that and also just gushing about the film you can def check out my Thor 2011 tag.

okay so the lovely @imbicilite​ / @whitrph​ and i were talking and it gave me the idea and we thought it was a great idea to spread it around so here’s how it goes: when talking with someone about pretty much anything tbh, but especially for something that could potentially be triggering, communicate with color codes based on city traffic lights ! GREEN means it’s good to talk about these things and you’re not feeling triggered by the topic, YELLOW means to slow down or stop talking about the topic at for now while RED means to stop the conversation about the topic immediately until green again where the conversation can divert into another topic or they feel safe to talk about it again !! this is EXTREMELY important, because it’s a way to alert others that you’re going to be talking about something that could possibly upset someone because of the subject matter, especially for those who may get triggered by a certain topic - even without you realizing it because squicks and triggers can honestly be anything, it could be different words or phrases or certain topics - and can cause severe anxiety in those affected, even panic attacks or flashbacks, and because we want to be considerate and respectful towards one another, it’s important that we use these to help our friends and fellow rpers know that we’re going to be posting or talking about something they might not want to see or talk about, and it’s of utmost importance to make them feel safe, it’s best to use this to be a more supportive friend and a member of the rpc!!

on a sidenote, i’m also here to tell you about tone indicators !! keep in mind that i didn’t come up with nor invent the concept of tone tags itself, but it was being spread around for a while now and i’d figured i’d talk about it !! essentially, tone indicators are used to indicate if the person is joking, being serious, etc., neurodivergent people often have trouble conveying and understanding emotion and tone through written text, using tone indicators is really helpful for neurodivergent people to make it easier for them to read/convey, it is also very helpful for people with anxiety. i encourage anyone who reads this to also type the meaning of the tone tag ( i.e: i love you !! /p for platonic ), so it is more accessible for neurodivergent and disabled people, like those who use screen readers.

“why should we use tone tags?” one might ask, but as an autistic, disabled and otherwise neurodivergent person myself, sometimes i don’t always get my friends and fellow mutual’s tones by their message but when they use tone indicators, it helps me understand and, not to mention that it can be really helpful and avoid misunderstandings. i would also like to note that NOT ALL neurodivergent people want you to use tone indicators on them, so if they don’t want you to use tone tags on them, please respect their wishes.

“i don’t like tone tags!” one might add, well, okay... but don’t make fun of the people that use them, it’s not a big deal, and if you’re a neurotypical who insists on not using tone tags when a neurodivergent person clearly asked you to, get your head out of your ass.

“using /j at the end of a joke ruins it!!” one might bitch, and okay but... it might be ruined for you, but it still makes me laugh, personally, so please try and get used to it, and not to mention, what’s more important: making sure you’re clear with your tone so that there’s no misunderstandings or throwing a fit just because the joke’s ruined for you?

additionally, some other things to keep in mind !! please do not mock the use of tone tags, you may not need them but some people do, not everyone can tell when something is a joke, when someone’s either being platonic, romantic or sexual in intentions, etc.,, especially when there’s no visual cues or tones of voice to help us, just be nice about it, it’s... really not hard, man. if you don’t use a tone tag and someone reads the tone of your statement incorrectly, do not get upset with them or laugh at them for not getting it - that is perpetuating ableism and/or sanism, whether you intentionally intend it or not. just kindly clarify and next time, keep in mind that tone tags are very helpful for neurodivergent, disabled and people with anxiety disorders. using a tone tag isn’t an excuse to be mean either, you can’t just say something mean or not cool and then put /j ( “joking” ) after it to get away with it, don’t be an ass. if you’re saying something that could be anxiety inducing for others, i would highly recommend putting the tone tags at not only the end but also the beginning of that post. do not intentionally use tone tags incorrectly “as a joke”, to confuse people, etc., the entire point of tone tags is to clarify, not confuse people, if you intentionally use them incorrectly, you’re an ass. keep in mind that no one has to use all the tone tags, use what you’d like, respect others who use what they would like, use them however feels rights to you. for me personally, sometimes i use multiple, sometimes only one, or sometimes none at all, just do what feels right, depending on who i’m talking to and how long i’ve known this person or group of people i’m speaking to, it’ll be fine, and if someone asks for clarification on what you mean, that’s okay, kindly clarify for them. additionally, please be patient if people don’t know what tone tags are, someone might not even be aware of what they are and that’s not their fault, just patiently explain it to them or link them to a source !! education always helps !! please don’t use “/srs or serious” as a joke, some neurodivergent and/or disabled people don’t need you to use three tone tags, and in my case, i’m presuming you’re neurotypical if you’re doing that when conversing with me, but what i’m trying to say is it looks like you’re babying us neurodivergents / disabled folx, so try to use only two tags ( that is, if that person is okay with it !! ), because some people don’t need you to use three tags.

please note that the following aren’t every single example out there and there are different terminologies in different languages, but they are important, a few examples of these are: 

“/j = joking / used when saying something in a joking manner, “so im pretty much the president of oreos /j”, 

“/hj = half joking / used when saying something that’s kind of a joke but kind of serious / “well,,,,, im usually right /hj” /

“nm = not mad, to indicate you’re not actually mad or upset about something / “ow... i felt that /nm”, 

“lu = a little upset / used when about about something or someone, but not too upset / “oh... that sucks /lu”, 

“/nbh = “nobody here” = often used when talking about something vague to ensure your friends it’s not indirectly to or about them / “sometimes i just wanna..... tell someone to shut the fuck up /nbh”,

“/ay = “at you”, make the person aware you’re addressing them”,

For those of you who were big readers in middle school in the era of SuperWhoLock, when Tumblr, Wattpad, and AO3 reigned king among fans, you probably read the Divergent series. I know I was obsessed, as a person who feels superior when I’m carrying around more than one big book I felt very proud of myself when I carried this trilogy into my sixth-grade science class and proceeded to not pay attention despite reprimands. I later wrote many fanfictions and watched the movies obsessively but that eventually faded from view as I got older and the series became just books on my shelf. But since we’re in quarantine an I’ve got nothing better to do, I’ve decided to re-read a bunch of my books, starting with this series. This first book made me completely nostalgic. I’m a sucker for sci-fi/dystopian worlds, and though this one isn’t the best it’s also not the worst, especially for young readers. Sure it’s a little cliche but it’s such a fun read. When I first read this book I was in awe, I wanted to be Tris so bad, she had the courage to leave her family and fight and become strong. I loved the idea of people being separated into a like minded group of people and I wanted so badly to be Dauntless. When she first got there and made friends I was so happy for her but I immediately hated Peter, I mean how could you not? And he just gets worse, and when he beats her up in the ring? Asshole. But it’s so cool to see her grow and get stronger and evolve, not only in physical and mental strength but as a person. Her friendships are evolving along with everything else, I know what its like to finally find that core group of people, and it was cool to watch her discover her people. (Also the Uriah and Marlene and the muffin scene, I was so in love with that moment, it was so pure). Then her mom shows up on visiting day and we find out so much, most prevalent I think it the fact that she is Dauntless? What?! I did not see that coming. But then everything goes downhill, Tris gets good and she gets attacked and she realizes Al was one of them, and then he dies. Like damn, way to move very quickly into a bad place. It hit me in the gut, real hard. On a totally unrelated not, I was so enamored with her and Four’s relationship, from the beginning you can totally see their connection. I will admit it moves a little too fast for me, I’m more into slow burn kind of stuff, and it’s so cliche but still undeniably adorable. And when they go into his fear landscape together and she learns his real name and why they call him Four? Adorable! (I would love to see my fear simulation, although I’m pretty sure there would be some clowns in there, and that’s, not something I want to see ever). I was so nervous for Tris when the simulations started thought, every time she was close to being caught my heart was in my throat, I was so worried about my girl. But then she gets first place and she is a Dauntless member and she could have a really great life but then everything goes to shit. When I realized that Tobias is also awake I melted, I was so happy, and then Eric has to go and mess it all up. But Tris gets to shoot him and it was awesome, but it doesn’t stay awesome. And then Tobias doesn’t know who Tris is because of the serum, and oh my god, I hate Jeanine Mathews so much (side note, Kate Winslet portrays her so well in the movies). And then they try and drown her even though she’s already been shot? Wtf, that’s so messed up. But then mom to the rescue! I knew from the moment she freed Tris that he was going to make it and it hit me hard when she died, I was so hoping to learn more about her history in Dauntless, not to mention that Tris hasn’t really seen her parents since she left. She must have had so many questions, and then Marcus is there. Like, fuck him, if I could reach into a book and punch someone I would hit him before I hit Jeanine. I was worried for them all as soon as they went back to Dauntless, but it was so cool to see how she’s grown and how she’s able to handle herself now. And then there’s Peter and I’m just gonna say it, I was not surprised that he was awake, he’s such an ass. But then she got to shoot him too, and that made me feel a little better. Tris suffers so much loss during this book, her mom, and then her dad, and she had to kill Will? It’s so not fair. The first time I read this book when she found Tobias and he was fighting her I was so worried that she was going to him to hurt or even kill him. But then his divergence and his love for her made it possible for him to break free. Ah, true love, how positively cliche, but very on point for a YA novel. I was so worried when he saw his father. But then Tris stood up for him, and honestly, you go, girl, he deserves so much worse (kind of wish the Dauntless had gotten to him). I can’t imagine being one of the Dauntless who was under the simulation, waking up and realizing what you’ve done? It’s so messed up, but it ends on a massive cliffhanger which I didn’t appreciate because I mean really? You start a war and then boom the book is over. Sorry for the crazy and kind of disorganized review but I do really love this book, it’s an easy and fun read with a cool world to immerse yourself in, I would recommend it.

OoC: Favorite Characters

I decided to focus on villains or anti-heroes, it’s hard picking just favorites in a general sense.

1. Harleen Quinzel A.K.A Harley Quin - DC Comic Universe I have been in love with this woman since September 1992 when she first aired in the Batman Animated series, Joker’s favor. Due to her brilliant creators of Paul Dini and Bruce Tim, led with the voice talents of Arleen Sorkin. She was born from her own raw desire to help people in her own best way possible, using her talents of understanding, reading and in many sense controlling people. Sadly, like Alice in wonderland, she fell into a realm of madness and uncertainty. She has been one of the most complex characters in animated history with large backstory and many turns and takes. Extremely popular on various forms and has made many appearances over the years even scoring some of her own comics and shows and now movies. When she was first created, she was merely a fill in and not meant to take and yet here she stands, a triumphant beauty whose overcome Abuse, trauma and degradation.

2. Azula - Avatar the last air bender animated television show + comics What can i say about Azula? In many retrospects she’s fierce, powerful, driven and just intelligent! I think a lot of people forget something pretty important about her: SHE WAS FOURTEEN! This young teenage, overthrew governments, taking whole cities and was the closest to killing the Avatar compared to anyone else. Not to mention her pure intelligence! People compare to playing a game of chess when it comes to moving people or controlling their actions. No, to this woman it was checkers. I truly believe if she didn’t become as over-confident as she did, the war would have ended with her taking the world. With the right nurturing, she would have become the most feared overlord the world would ever see.

3. Loghain Mac Tir - Dragon age book (The Stolen Throne by: David Gaider) and Dragon age Origins the Video game. Yeah, there’s a theme so far i am guessing you are seeing. I can’t help but appreciate sheer intelligence. Loghain is sort of obvious in the video games, it’s clear his intents. At the same time, there is far far more than what is merely on the surface with this man. An obvious villain, almost to the point of it being boring. Yet, why in the games are so many people hesitant and trusting of him? This man had proved himself, over and over, that he had his country in his heart and would do anything to protect it and keep it from the true monsters of the world. People. He was never shy about the routes he’d take, the lengths he’d go, he was brass, courageous, and deceptive. He called things out, forced people to seeing the bigger picture, he didn’t need to control or lie to people about things. He got what he wanted in the most unique ways possible, not his title, not his money, not his charisma but by being true in what had to be done. 

4. Sylvanas Windrunner - Blizzard Entertainment Video games I don’t see her as a Villain, an Anti-hero, yes. Look, we all know Blizz can’t seem to understand women or know how to write them on a large scale. I seriously feel bad for both, Piera Coppola and Patty Mattson as they have to watch this poor woman get brutally torn to pieces. I will always, always have a soft spot for her and remember the days where in many respects was like Illidain, and (above) Loghain. A woman who saw the bigger picture and would sacrifice anything to save everything she cared for. I wont drag on for her, simply because i know the most people who are doing this and following are from the Blizzard franchise and i know we have all heard many many layers to this continued argument about this particular character. If ya wanna PM about it or rant at me, bring it. I’m an Alliance player at heart, but i only got into w.o.w because of this woman. Both sides are shit. *drops mic*

5. Aaravos - Dragon Prince, Netflix television animated show. Okay, seriously, if you haven’t seen the show yet: DO IT! Just as with this theme, INTELLIGENCE, INTELLIGENCE, INTELLIGENCE! Tactful, charming, knowledgeable, i mean...look at that face! He is hands down perfect. Sadly, we still know very little of him but goshdamnit! Love! Love! Love! I can not wait to know more of him and see more of him. 

6. Maleficent - Fairy Tale story / Disney The jist of her, from stories and movies, is general: She was snubbed or insulted by the royal court and took her revenge on the child they were all celebrating. I’m sorry, but this has always been fantastic to me. What is more painful and hard to deal with then your own child being cursed? Claim petty if you want, but no, oh no my dear friend, this is a brilliant revenge. A normal person would blame the man in charge and curse him, but meh, whatever. Kings wont remember how they snubbed others, this is proven time and time again in many stories. Will this act ever be forgotten? Will the generations always remember not to snub a powerful faerie? You better believe it! She made a ever lasting mark, an impression that has lasted since the 13th century! Throughout the years no one has changed these facts: Maleficent was powerful, she was disrespected and she took her revenge onto a child. Normal stories like these over the years have changed both villains and heroes, or even circumstances. This classic has even seen the beautiful creation, directed by Robert Stromberg from a screenplay by Linda Woolverton, and still they honour the root of what was and with a focus on the villain and her origins.  How many villains get this?

7. Narberal Gamma - Overlord Anime/ Manga series Who doesn’t love a maid? Not to mention a Battle maid. Narberal is...mm, i don’t even know how to express her. She’s just generally cool, powerful, intelligent, loyal and honest with everything around her, just a demeanor of a refined perfection. She’s enjoyable to watch. Another thing i enjoy, she’s not the main villain. The show itself has many “villains”, i say in such way because it’s never really clear or obvious what you can count as villain or hero in a lot of ways. Yes, some are obvious but even then in many cases showed within it’s all about circumstances, who you are following, why you are following them. I enjoy the not so cut and dry of “good and evil”. This character also helps continue that ploy, helping and yet also killing people.

8. Carmilla - Castlevania Netflix series I’m a huge vampire fan, been so since middle school. I’m not as quick whipped as i use to be about the lore, history and so on when it comes to many Vampires and their origins. With such said, damn she made me bring out the books again, especially because she was one of my favorites to read about. I mean, Lesbian vampire. Do i need to say more? For now, i’ll only focus on the more recent adaption of her. So, yeah theme? We get it, intelligence. The world truly is a chess board for her, however she does not expect people to just flip the board on her. God, Jaime Murray, thank you so much for that wtf moment cause you expressed her sheer just horror at watching everything fall around her with perfection. Throughout the points we see Carmilla we see her truly be the tact master, stirring the pot and also showing her prowess in form. There is also a lot of restraint i don’t think people will give her credit for. We see how she expresses her emotions in violence, but i also think we are seeing it in a very, very pulled back way. I look forward to seeing how she changes her circumstances and sets things back into her own order in the coming season.

9. Akasha - Book series: The Queen of the Damned by Anne rice and movie: The Queen of the damned. Ah yes, the books that helped start the joys of vampires and how could i not fall in love with someone toying into the very beginning and trying to draw into the beginnings of a creature known throughout the world and time. Why do i choose Akasha considering i already touched base on vampires? Simple, she will always deserve a spot on any favorite list of anything. She gave so little cares about anything and only wanted the world to die and feel her wrath. Not to mention Aaliyah played this part so beautifully well it deserves every recognition it can get. I know she doesn’t seem to quite fit with the rest, but this is partly why she is so low on the list.

10. Callisto - Xena television series Last but certainly not least, we can’t forgot about this one. Good? Bad? Surely just pure chaos! She does what she wants and cares little about the consequences. It’s been ages since i’ve last seen the show i will admit, so my bases on her is a bit rusty. However, i will always remember her out of the many other villainous people we meet in the Xena universe. Fun, witty, combatant, you never knew what she was really going to do. As soon as she popped into a episode, i would recall fondly sitting at the edge of my seat just wondering how or why she did the things she did. There is my list of favorites, i’m sure you can see the themes between them all as many of them have common traits, inspirations and personalities. Hope you all enjoyed! The Scorpion King 1 ⚔

Apparently, this is the origin story of the scorpion king creature we see in The Mummy Returns. It is most definitely not.

Like you go into it thinking it will give more background on the character and it doesn’t? And I’m pretty sure there’s like 3 more movies. One of them isn’t even about Dwayne Johnson’s character, to my knowledge. There’s nothing really about the movie that stands out in my memory like the first two Mummy’s do (which I intend to watch soon).

The Willoughbys 4 🧒🏻

 Four kids try to get rid of their parents in order to be their own family but end up creating their own found family. 

I heard this voice and I went “Is that Terry Crews with his Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs voice?” And it was 😂

It is both adorable and super weird. It’s weird as in quirky, so watch this if you’re into those types of movies.

The parents are the weirdest movie parents I’ve ever seen. Of course, they’re meant to be written like that, but honestly, they’re so weird.

Wrong Turn 5🌲

A group of people go into the woods to try to find help after their cars are totaled. A group of people do not come out of the woods. 

I’ll admit, I went into the movie having read the description but I didn’t think it was going to be as intense as it ended up being. I loved the movie and will definitely carry on to the rest of the franchise, but it’ll take a lot to impress me as the first movie was so great.

And yes, it is very gory and violent. But I loved that 😂

This time around it’s a group of contestents on a reality game show! Will all of them survive?

This was just so annoying because I had LOVED the first movie and then the second one comes and it’s sort of… really bad? I hope the next ones are better, honestly.

I only really liked like the one contestant? And that was it. All the rest were annoying. They just forced the producer to be in the show? Like they surround her while she’s sitting and they get right in her face. Ugh not cool

Case 39 2 👩‍👧

A social worker takes in a child, only to realise why her parents wanted her gone. 

I don’t know if I actually like Renée Zellweger. And not to be rude or anything, but it’s definitely her voice.

Also the kid’s full first name is Lilith. And Renee doesn’t think anything when weird things happen. All in all, the movie wasn’t totally… interesting.

Zombillenium 4 🎢

A park staffed by monsters and starting to struggle to make a profit has to deal with a new monster, one who’s more interested in getting back to his daughter than anything with the park. 

This was funny and very cute but I wished the audio was in French? And I know it’s French because the posters are all French. Sometimes it didn’t look like the audio synced up and the voice actors were a bit…meh and I think it would’ve been even better in the original audio.

Get Out 5 🥄

A black man goes to visit his white girlfriend’s family for a weekend. And they’re maybe a bit too accepting. 

Sometimes it seems that the horror genre has shown every angle, and new movies can’t be good and all that – and then something amazing like this comes up and suddenly you just want to watch it all the time. Like seriously, this movie is amazing.

 Dopplegangers threaten a family and the family is forced to try to protect themselves. 

MIND BLOWN. I didn’t understand well, a lot, for the majority of the movie, but then things clicked and omg I instantly wanted to watch the movie again.

Wonder Park 4 🎢

Wonderland is an imaginary park created by June and her mom. And now June has to save it.

I’ve been wanting to watch this one for a super long time! The trailer made it seem so cute.

Also, thought this would be an adorable movie and then BAM it’s UP ALL OVER AGAIN. But seriously – it’s a great movie and you should definitely watch it.

Will Smith is back defending Earth against aliens, but he’s also time travelling?

Even though I still like it – I mean, Will Smith 😍😍 I barely remembered this movie? Also, doesn’t this movie and what Will’s character does (Agent K? I think) does re time travel – like go against the time travel code? You know, you can’t talk to people in the past that you know in the future?

Escape Room 4 🧩

Strangers end up having to endure a not-so-normal escape room.

I mean the trailer had Deborah Ann Woll so like I’m signed up instantly. Also Judy Robinson is in here! Or well, Taylor Russell, who plays Judy in Netlifx’s Lost in Space.

I still haven’t been in an escape room but I really want to? But also I feel like you have to be with a specific group? With all different skill sets? You know, like those heist books we all love.

 I really liked it. It’s an adventure horror, which I always like seeing. A lot of things happen and it captures your attention throughout.

Warning – about 1h19 a scene starts –   There’s a flickering lights scene which definitely mimicked a strobe lights scene so please be careful if you’re sensitive to that. Please be safe. If you’re worried you’re missing anything in that scene – it’s basically just a fight scene between two characters.

Monster-Hunter parents have to decide between keeping their kids in the dark or letting them know all about their monster-huntering.

I started out not really thinking it would be good, but then it ended up being great. Sure, the story lines could’ve been better, in my opinion, but it was pretty good for a season season.

But since there will be no second SEASON, I will have to be content with this one. And just cry because Netflix, you should LISTEN to your audience instead of relying on stats (which they base on like if the user is still watching 5 seconds in, they think that’s another watch – which doesn’t make sense because I usually wait at least 5 or so mins to decide if I want to watch this movie or series or not. Or even halfway through.

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power S1 5 ⚔

Adora finds a legendary sword that turns her into the powerful She-Ra (not that she wasn’t powerful before), along with new friends and enemies that want to take the sword.

ALL THE STARS. LIKE SERIOUSLY ALL THE STARS. I love love LOVED the first season so much and am excited to get to the other seasons soon!! And just Bow????? He has allllll my love, like seriously, I just love him so much. Protect him from all the badness in the world, please.

JIMMYSTEVE WTF (It’s a Shameless US reference. I was just shocked to see him). I really liked the casting here. Especially Zayn and Bernie.

They were in SOMA and none of their hair needs to be cut? I think one of them said in SOMA they don’t so I’m guessing that means their hair doesn’t grow?

The first season could have definitely been better. But it is renewed for a second season so I hope the story is better and I just really want more Zayn and Bernie time.

  That’s all! I’m thinking of changing up the format of these so this all might look different the next time one of these come up 🌟

Predictions after seeing the D23 footage and reading too many stupid fan theories..again.

So now that the ‘special look’ has been out for a while and there are some alleged plot leaks on reddit, I think it’s time for to go over my predictions. Mostly to be able to say ‘I knew it’ and ‘I told you’ later on, because there is no chance in hell that Rey is just one many clones from Lukes hand or the emperor or any of the other wild theories that spread across the internet. And without pointing fingers or mentioning names, if you can’t even get minor (hint) details right and have a horrible track record, how do people still listen to you? Because you have a lot of subscribers on Youtube? Welcome to the Internet..

This might contain spoilers so be warned:

- Finn is not Landos son and Jannah is not his sister, because there are more than 3 black people in the galaxy you know. Star Wars might be about family, but not everyone is related. Palpatine was a bit ginger, that doesn’t make him Hux’ grandfather either.. Will we learn about Finns family. What for? What is there to gain story-wise. That’s something everyone coming upon with wild theories needs to ask themselves. 

- is Jannah (Naomi Ackie) Landos daugher? See above. Looking at the little evidence we have so far she has always been seen on a grassy planet, whereas Lando is known to have filmed Millennium Falcon and Pasaana scenes at a sound stage.  There are theories that the planets won’t be one biosphere, breaking with Star Wars tradition, so it’s still possible however unlikely that they are related. 

Just look at the pilots gloves and helmet. This isn’t the Millennium Falcon 

-  C-3POs red eyes. There are conflicting rumors about the cause, one being spiritual and the other being.. technical. I think it’s more likely that his eyes change color due to operational rather than ‘esoteric’ reasons. Also in relation to him being shown holding a bowcaster and Anthony Daniels telling Vanity Fair that ‘C-3PO does something in this movie that surprises everybody’.

- Red laser destroying snow planet. I assume that’s Kijimi where Zorri Bliss is located and where according to some plot leaks some altercation takes place. Looks like the First Order doesn’t fuck around.

- Rey training in the forest throwing her lightsaber is most likely connected to Leia standing in the same environment dropping some Jedi knowledge she got from Luke. I’m wondering what the red ribbon is about. I’m gonna get crazy and say it might be a blindfold. There is also a Jedi training droid present, so why wouldn’t she training ‘blind’ with it just like Luke did.  I’m gonna go out on a limb and propose something with a 5% likelihood of being true, but.. as is looks a bit as the red ribbon is also wrapped around the double bladed light saber ‘dark Rey’ is holding later on, so what if.. it’s something related to her parents and her ‘holding onto it’ is a dark side trait she needs to conquer. Star Wars is filled with symbolism and philosophical motifs like that. ‘Let go’ of your need to belong. Don’t dwell in the past. Even Maz told her ‘The belonging you seek is not behind you, it is ahead.’. Could be that or just a regular rag. Probably the latter, but it’s sure fun to theorize. #theorizeresponsibly

- Rey and Kylo fighting on what looks like the Death Star remains. I think a lot of people now tend to believe that JJ Abrams is bypassing The Last Jedi and continue his initial story, not ignoring the movie but positioning it as a detour for the characters to find themselves. And for once I agree what seems to be the consensus amongst Star Wars theorists. I think what we see here is not unlike the force flashes Rey had when she first touched the lightsaber. I can imagine them changing environment with every stroke of their lightsabers. That allows for a ‘best of Star Wars’ highlight reel, so desperately needed to reunite fans after the The Last Jedi backlash, that would combine all the previous movies. And that’s what they promised. 

- voiceover ‘your journey nears its end’. Is it just me or does it not sound like the emperor. I mean it sounds like Ian McDiarmid alright, but I’m missing the uber-evil timbre of his voice. Who is he talking to and will the emperor appear in this movie? First of all.. when we talk about tying together all the movies, we must not ignore the so called ‘tone poems’ used for The Phantom Menace. Based on that I’d say he isn't necessarily talking to anyone. Or even more recently, in The Force Awakens trailer they used Lukes ‘the force is strong in my family..’. So I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s just a distraction or to set the mood. My guess is that the emperors ‘spirit’ looms above everything and had the power to influence other people, just like depicted on the poster. There had been speculation about Snoke being some sort of Wizard of Oz early on. What if the wizard behind the wizard is actually worse. Wouldn’t that be wizard?

- Dark Rey. I will say one thing, I was happy to see that most fans immediately were like ‘dark side vision!’. If you read my earlier posts you will know how much I LOVE new lightsaber designs in every movie. Not. Especially when they are pointless. When I said I want a saber staff this is not what I mean. The only thing that makes me a bit skeptical is that Daisy Ridley said she was surprised that they’d show that scene in trailer. If it’s just a vision like the one Luke had, what’s the big deal? Then again, they also claimed that everyone will absolutely love the movie and especially the end. Enter wild fan theories from ‘she saw multiple reflections of herself in the cave. Clone Rey confirmed!!!11!!’ to ‘She must be Palpatines granddaughter’. I said it before and I’ll happily say it again. That would be SHIT STORYTELLING. After all the impatient smart-asses calling Rey a ‘Mary Sue’ not knowing anything about her origins, how would the public react to good old Palpatine having a granddaughter? That’s Robot Chicken level stupid. Now.. considering that an early draft of Revenge of the Sith had Palpatine telling Anakin that he ‘is his father’ for manipulating the midichlorians to create life, from a certain point of view that would make him Reys father IF he tried again. And it would fit much better into the established story structure of Star Wars. Every story that requires knowledge of the extended universe outside of movies or lengthy exposition will lead to casual fans and ordinary moviegoers to be like WTF?! It might be the last movie for a while but they still want people to go and not be appalled from early reviews about the movie being a convoluted clusterfuck. I also think the ‘clone’ idea is a cop out. Whenever you’re stuck because you can’t explain the origin of a character or don’t know how to deal with the death of a character - BAMM! Clone! Problem solved. That's just lazy. So to sum it up. Dark Rey? Vision of what she was supposed to be or should be because it backfired? ‘Darkness rises, and light to meet it. I warned my young apprentice that as he grew stronger, his equal in the light would rise.’ (Snoke)

- Sith Fleet / Sith Troopers ..those following the new canon even just a bit are already aware of the importance of the ‘Unknown Regions’. Its hard to miss references to it these days, from Galaxys Edge to Rebels. So how are they gonna explain this in the movie? From a storytelling point it makes sense. The empire was defeated and its remnants were hiding and regrouping. Hang on. This sounds like a job for OPENING CRAWL. OK, so there is a massive fleet. Maybe unrelated to the First Order, but looking pretty similar. Based on the state of the Resistance after the Last Jedi one might assume it’s not really needed. Does that mean we’re dealing with an internal struggle of sorts.There are persisting rumors of a high ranking First Order member leaking details to the Resistance, which doesn’t come as a surprise given Kylo Rens personality. Reminds be a bit of Operation Valkyrie. 

I’m delving deep into leaks and rumors but as things are now I have no idea how this pans out and what the relationship between Sith Trooper and First Order will be. Apparently you need a certain navigational device to be able to make it to the Unknown Regions, so my guess is Kylo is looking for more knowledge/power there just like Palpatine did, the rest is pure speculation so I will leave it for another time when more details surface. Same goes for stuff that’s not directly related to the ‘D23 Special View’ such as ‘who is Zorri Bliss?’.

LOUIS TOMLINSON - MISS YOU [5.45] 3rd try is the... charm?

Maxwell Cavaseno: While foolish critics fondled the prattishness of current day Liam Gallagher and Primal Scream pastiche as some kind of return to form just because he had a good year on Twitter, leave it to the prophet of the zen-sunni anarchist of laddishment defined as "The Tommo Way", one Maestro Louis Tomlinson, to actually bother with coming up with a song that channels the Oasian spirit. The rock bits are all corrosive grafts to the point of Frankenstein artificiality, but whereas prime Oasis sounded like the pieces of Lynyrd Skynyrd's plane's torched remains superimposed over Paul Weller statuettes at times, "Miss You" is the false memories of those Good Time Gents xeroxed and 3D-printed out, Trevor Horn style, into blasts of anxiety disguised as escapist hoots. Louis feels attached to violent bungee cords outside of his control from the demands of the present, desire to "move on" into the future and the regrets of the past, and for all the easy charm of the sneery "Shit" reflex, you get the sense he would really like to keep up those swells of abandon for more than a few moments. Joshua Minsoo Kim: A post-breakup celebration complete with concomitant feelings of bitterness and regret. Louis Tomlinson channels 2000s pop rock and Oasis to forge a song well-suited for a bygone era's Teen Movie and obligatory soundtrack tie-in. The strings are hokey but self-aware: a cartoon rain cloud that follows Louis as he attempts to drink away conflicted feelings. The whole situation may be trope after trope, but it can feel less lonely and disheartening when you align your experiences with familiar, well-trod territory. [7]

Scott Mildenhall: It's great to have to Freefaller/The Noise Next Door/Son of Dork back, it really is, but what on earth is going with Louis Tomlinson's accent? Perhaps he just has to do what he can to get his voice through a song unscathed, but here it flits between classic, Robbiesque mid-atlanticism ("all of these thoughts", "tune"), an approximation of "standard" southern ("dancing" is halfway to Bextor), and a weirdly exaggerated version of his own northern speech (witness the same vowel in "worry", "love" and "coming" in the bridge, which does not sound quite like how he says it when talking). In the final case, it's almost as if they wrote in that particular vocalic thread in an attempt to accentuate his tediously misguided #toplad persona. Better yet, it might all be a purposeful display of linguistic performance made to explode the myth of singular authenticity. So let's just pretend that it is. [4]

Alex Clifton: Louis Tomlinson is such an enigma; I could never quite figure out his place in 1D, and I'm not sure anyone else did, either. Zayn was the hot one, Niall the songwriter, Harry the wild card, and Liam was... well, whatever Liam is. But Louis? Who knows, other than the first one to become a dad. Fittingly, this is the most generic 1D solo debut. Even "Strip That Down," a real corker, could've only come from someone as self-important and un-self-aware as Liam. Louis ticks all the post-boy band boxes here--he swears! he drinks!--and doesn't actually sound bad, but I still can't tell you anything about Louis-the-person. In other words, it's exactly what I expected from him. [4]

Isabel Cole: In the absence of any ability to even pretend to be a little bit objective about my fave Direction/fellow Capricorn sun Gemini rising with Mars in Sg/iPhone background and lockscreen since 2013/biological son whom I, personally, raised to semi-manhood with my blood sweat and tears, how about full transparency instead? Three points off the bat for the sheer base pleasure of hearing Louis Tomlinson sing with false brightness "everything is fucking great" with that accent, happier to be swearing on his song than anyone in pop since Avril snarled her exhaustion with all the ssshit that you do; one point for the #mood of spending the entirety of an ostensibly fun night out glued to your phone, two points for the #big mood of "just one more pint or five / does it even matter anyway"; one for the knowledge that he is finally making the loud dumb guitar-punching fake pop punk of his beautiful idiot heart; two for finding myself genuinely affected by the bridge - I remember that, too, when I was his age, marveling over how suddenly the rules can change, how you have to unlearn the entire way your life has oriented itself around the person you can't even be with alone now; docked two points for not living up to the promise of "No Control"; bonus point for "lads." Joshua Copperman: "Miss You" is a bizarre listen from the top -- a dry guitar VST shares space with real-life violins, martial drum loops, gang vocals, and a glossy, compressed acoustic strum. Also, auto-tuned ad-libs. That's all before the lyrics, which sound like "Not Over You" was combined with the sappiest parts of Divide, then sprinkled with curse words, and then sent through Botnik. I'm assuming Julian Bunetta didn't know how to work with Louis after crafting successes for Niall, so Bunetta just decided to do everything at once. Therefore, we get an album's worth of misguided ideas in one song, but by some miracle, it's just WTF enough to work. To paraphrase another Directioner, it's absolutely ridiculous, but I'm into it. Austin Brown: Oh, so he's decided to be the pop-punk one? That's...a choice. Somehow this makes me appreciate the fluidity of post-reunion Fall Out Boy's EDM integrations far more though--the genre gestures scattered throughout (strings, auto-tuned adlibs, background choral vocals, etc) feel more like badly disguised bids to expand Louis's market share, and who needs any of this when Hey Violet is around? [4]

Anthony Easton: Bratty vocals, but not in ways that I haven't heard a million times before, made even more obvious by the terribly reductive guitar playing. [2]

Alfred Soto: While his 1D mates have gotten undue credit for using power chords and arena-ready drum patterns, Louis Tomlinson aims for spice: he adds violins and some rubbish about dancing on tables. As if. [3]

Ashley John: Louis is earnest in the only scrubby, scuffed up, anthemic way he knows how to be. "Miss You" steals just the right amount of pop punk sandpaper grit to toughen up an otherwise precise pop song into something else. He's genuine and apocalyptic in the same lines, barely delineating a Tuesday night from the vast, hopeless forever. This song sounds like the stride he's been waiting to hit. [6]

Luke, our farmboy turned Jedi, is most known for his compassion and eagerness. Look at what he is in TLJ and how much this distorted image has reverberated the entire story. The biggest issue I have with him is what he did to Kylo. Saw too much darkness, how??? Where??? They should have given not just me but my also my good boy Luke a fucking reason - a VISUALLY EXPLICIT REASON to have ignited a lightsaber and be tempted to kill him in his sleep because the last time that sorta coward pathetic shit was done was by Darth Sidious aka Palpatine aka one of the characters i hate the most. Before Luke decided to fight Vader in ROTJ remember that he surrended himself to Imperial forces on Endor and patiently reasoned with his father through sincere conversation. Oh my God. And he was actually goaded and emotionally manipulated into his short minutes of anger and darkness by these Sith Lords. That was sufficient layers gdi. Not some couple of lines tossed to a newcomer. That’s not the Jedi way at all. And it has made Kylo Ren’s backstory even more stupidly shitty.

Also what Luke’s link to the Force and Jedi knowledge is right now…wtf was he doing in the First Jedi Temple in Ahch-to????? Just to be dramatic??? Okay?? But I would think that he’d be searching for answers since the Force, like many spiritual and religious concepts, demand lifelong unraveling of mysteries… of how or why things came to as it is… and how to somehow conjure a solution. Ffs stuff from the legends EU could have helped if Rian can’t actually think of anything (and this director claims to have played kotor??? *scoff* it’s either i’m einsteine or you’re dumb). Furthermore look how uneventful his “teaching” Rey is, especially now that she’s a random. A few jokes here, a few statements there, and she’s ready face Snoke and his guards lol wth. (You know sometimes I think that should have been enough reason for luke to intervene. This innocent random life is about to get herself absolutely wrecked beyond hell and he didn’t budge a bit on that tsk). This just worsens the mary sue accusation I’ve always defended my bb Rey against. What can I say in Rey’s defense now???

Now we move to Poe Dameron. This guy, as seen in various reading material, has high respect for utility beings such as droids… was commanded by Leia to leave as soon as they destroyed Starkiller Base but refused until he was sure that the Falcon (and Finn and Rey and Chewie) were also safe and ready to go home. And now at the beginning of the movie he was partly responsible for Paige Tico’s death because he refused Leia’s orders again in the name of an ambition to destroy a big ship despite the Resistance’s being on the verge of death. And I will admit that I didn’t see the expanse of his character assassination at first but after hearing what people had to say, I agree (no wonder my first words on his arc wasn’t that it was the best but that it was merely the most acceptable). I now see the racist/sexist moves on Poe Dameron. Chauvinism, being unreasonably tossed around by superiors (like they completely forgot the comic series where poe learned literally the same leadership lessons they wanted to give Poe in TLJ. LOL good job lucasfilm story group go retire), bouts of aggression when one time this guy actually said “I LIKE YOUR EGG” just to avoid confrontation). What happened to the Leia fanboy??? This guy, who spent a shitload of time investigating the Lor San Tekka thing, couldn’t spare to do the same about Holdo’s military decisions before deciding that she was shitty (she’s not ffs and she was equally shitted on by Rian compared to Claudia Gray)??? It’s all murky now. And Poe should have apologized to Rose like the concerned leader and friend he was to the likes of Snap and Karé. Ugh thank God for his meeting with Rey and his moments with Finn and BB-8 though. I take all my comfort about Poe’s character assassination on those scenes.

ed is the absolute 100% most lukewarm person when it comes to halloween. he gets enough of that spooky stuff on the job okay leave him alone with it for the rest of the year. he’s a total sap when it comes to handing candy out to the neighborhood kids tho

this one’s based on a dumb inside joke but the only reason he thinks exorcist 2 is better than the original is that a) he’s never seen the original exorcist and b) i don’t....think exorcist 2 is a traditional exorcism movie? i’ve only seen reviews of it but anyway he was kind of :/ when the original exorcist came out because it felt like capitalizing on and sensationalizing what’s actually a dangerous ritual irl. i’ve put way too much thought into this for a joke wtf

he and lorraine don’t/didn’t (depending on whether we’re talking about them on denny or not) actually have too many like Close Adult Friends. neither of them are super eager to place that kind of trust in people not to be skeptical/dismissive of their work and thus, they just kind of keep to themselves and the few people they’ve managed to meet through their work. drew is a good example of this.

in that vein, ed usually tries to keep in contact with the people he and lorraine help out, especially in the wake of a case that was particularly hard on a family ie the perrons and the hodgesons. it’s usually just a phone call or something to make sure that everything’s okay and they’re not experiencing any kind of activity, but he and lorraine have been back to the perron house a couple of times for casual visits and he’ll occasionally like write a letter or something to the hodgesons. 

literally the only reason he has a normal-ish sleep schedule on denny now (even more normal than it would be at home) is that there’s like literally nothing more comforting to him now than getting to have lorraine next to him while he’s falling asleep. he may or may not be mildly clingy when it comes to curling up with her at night.

she has a mild caffeine addiction and will legit get migraines if she doesn’t have her morning coffee. 

she’s dyslexic, which is a fact that tends to surprise people considering how much she likes to read. the pink tint of her glasses helps her eyes to better make sense of the words on the page in front of her, and tbh she’s really into stuff like comic books and manga, where she can follow the story through visual pictures, and also audiobooks.

this isn’t headcanon but she plays electric guitar! and acoustic too, but she prefers the Loudness of the former.

listen mystery ben can pry the fact that vivi build arthur’s prosthetic arm out of my cold dead hands. she actually has a bachelor’s in engineering, particularly robotics, but given that she’s pretty focused on her paranormal investigating, she hasn’t done very much with it.

also not headcanon: her favorite video game series is silent hill. 3 is probably her favorite of the franchise and she definitely has Opinions regarding the later games in the series. 

in that vein, she ran an cr1tikal-esque lp channel back home where she played a lot of horror games straight-facedly and rolled her eyes at a lot of them. sh4 and homecoming were definitely among these. 

she’ll take any nicknames you wanna throw at her. ‘vivi’ is actually already short for ‘vivian’ but phoebe and arthur both have occasionally called her ‘vi’ or ‘viv’ and ‘blue’ and ‘blueberry’ were both affectionate nicknames from the latter. lewis would probably also have dorky nicknames for her if he did the talking thing.

mystery is her familiar and, back home, he typically shied away from talking around random strangers. on denny, he’s way less cautious about it and just kind of openly talks to anyone. it’s v freeing, if you ask him.

she has a fondness for spicy food and one of these days she’ll remember it’s because it was a specialty of the restaurant lewis’s family ran. she’s also big into cultural food, especially japanese, given her heritage.

she’s a ravenclaw if we’re doing hogwarts house sorting for all of these.

she’s Very Gay although given that she’s staunchly against taking a mate, this isn’t very likely to come up in her life.

she has a scar running down between her shoulder blades from a kithood incident -- she and tangleclaw and dappledawn were a Trouble-making Squad when they were younger

herb-gathering is a v relaxing thing for her, particularly because her knowledge of what different herbs look like is one of the few things she’s fairly confident in re: med cat skills.

she never knew her ~biological father, harepath, and never really considered him family (he died in a border dispute before she and her siblings were both), given that she was raised by a pair of Gay Moms. she’s met him in sharing tongues with starclan, though, and their relationship is only slightly awkward. 

her main starclan guide, though, is rowanfall’s old mentor, ratnose who will prooobably be a starclan npc at some point on denny. he’s played a big part in soothing leopardpool’s insecurities and anxieties after rowanfall left and is kind of quietly disappointed in his apprentice for this nonsense. he’s fond of sagepaw too tho.

her relationship with sagepaw is.........a work in progress. she’s tried her hardest not to let memories of her mother taint their mentor/apprentice stuff, because even if it was against the warrior code and resulted in so much shit hitting the fan, it was dappledawn that kind of bluntly pointed out to her that it wasn’t sagepaw’s fault. it’s lucky that patience are some of sagepaw’s virtues tbh.

she adores dappledawn’s daughters, nettlepaw and smokepaw, and was eagerly anticipating being made an aunt again before the rifts took her -- tangleclaw’s mate was with kits at the time. 

med cats are taught a little of how to defend themselves and how to hunt, but leopardpool has never been particularly good at either of them. at best, she relies on her dark pelt and light pawsteps to get close to prey, but she has a bad habit of not paying too much attention to where she’s stepping, resulting in a lot of snapping twigs at the last second.

which is kind of a shame, since her mothers named her leopardkit in the hopes that she’d be as quick and stealthy as a leopard one day. whoops!

i’ll just finish these all off with hogwarts houses -- she’s a hufflepuff.

Words and Spirits Pt. 1

DISCLAIMER: This post and its follow-up are completely based in my personal experiences and UPG. This is not necessarily typical, nor should it be used as a “thou must” for a practice. If you find this helpful, awesome. If it doesn’t line up with your experiences, that’s great, too. But please don’t feel bad or less talented or whatever, because everyone is different!

With all the shenanigans currently happening in my spiritual life and leaking onto this blog, I figured it was probably about time I came up with some sort of disclaimer/explanation of how I experience spirits and how I practice my personal discernment. You know, in case it’s helpful to anyone (seriously, I can’t be the only one with this sort of issue, can I?).

So. Some general background. And a read more, because this got stupidly long.

I’m a word person. There’s a reason I gravitated toward writing--I experience everything in words. There are constantly words flowing in my brain that I can’t turn off. For as long as I can remember, my days have consisted of telling myself stories, telling myself to be more like my favorite fictional character du jour (wow, that should have tipped me off to gender-weirdness, with how often I pretended to be male characters even when there were kickass female characters available), and talking to myself, sometimes in different voices. Even my astral adventures are, more often than not, narrated and described in words instead of being pure images or feelings. When I try to meditate, I’m constantly counting my breaths, or reciting mantras, because that’s the only way I can clear my mind to any degree (though that’s still words running).

For a long time (let’s go with 9-10 out of my 11+ years of being consciously Pagan), I fought it in my spiritual practice, convinced that it somehow made my experiences less “real” if it felt like someone/myself telling a story (or, on the occasions I did get solid images, like watching a third-person movie). How could I possibly be experiencing real interactions with spirits if it’s narrated and I still have a keen awareness of my physical body? How could I get to the astral if I couldn’t properly clear my mind to meditate because the words never stop? After all, the books and blogs I’d read had that gross undertone of “if you’re not doing X, you’re doing it wrong!”

Long story short, anyone who says you’re doing it wrong because XYZ is full of shit. Everyone’s experiences with these things is different.

Though I still struggle with it, I’ve more or less come around to the fact that words are my thing. I still get ‘narration’ on the rare occasions I have the time/energy to travel, and I’m (un)lucky enough to get mostly full dialogue from the spirits I’m close to--sometimes with energetic or emotional signatures and sometimes words on their own. When I talk about ‘hearing’ spirits/gods, I really mean I’m getting words inside my head, not as an auditory hallucination, often in fully-formed sentences and thoughts.

I am, apparently, a weirdo with an actual ‘godphone.’ Trust me; it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. It makes me incredibly anxious about developing/having undiagnosed Schizophrenia, requires a crap ton of hardcore discernment, and leaves me with few alternatives when the ‘line goes dead,’ so to speak. There’s divination, yeah, but with my anxiety issues and lack of spirit-words to untangle it, that only gets me so far. And without a consistently useful energetic sensitivity, I tend to spiral down pretty damn quick if I’m not ‘hearing.’

But that’s just set-up for the real topic here: how the fuck do I discern whether or not this is really A Thing, when it’s all words in my brain? Good question, friend. And one that I struggle with on and off. There is no short answer, so here are the main three things I gravitate toward:

Since I’m getting words and conversation, I pay attention to the sound/feel of the other voices. Do they ‘sound’ like my own inner voice or not? By this I mean, tone, verbiage, any energetic signatures, vocal quality (for lack of a better term--does it sound rough, smooth, deep, etc.?), and other characteristics us fiction writers use to describe voices. This gets tricky sometimes when I’m tired or sick or something and don’t really pay attention. Sometimes they sound like my own voice and sometimes I sound like them, so it’s not really foolproof--and that makes it super easy to dismiss things as imagination or wishful thinking, even when it isn’t (and vice versa: to make things way more important than they should be).

I also realized a while ago that I also have something, um, unique that works with the sound/feel: each entity I speak with regularly develops a specific ‘spot’ inside my skull where their voice normally manifests. For example, Loki’s voice ALWAYS sounds off from the left side of my head, just above and in front of my ear. It’s like a weird little energetic ping attached to his voice in a very specific place--like an individual ringtone, if I’m keeping the godphone metaphor. If I hear what I think is Loki from closer to the center of my head, I know it’s most likely my own voice (which seems to ‘feel’ like it’s pretty much right behind my forehead, in that ‘third eye’ area). Think of it like having an infinite amount of tiny speakers lining the inside of my brain cavity, and each entity has a line to a specific speaker. Loki is right near my left ear, but Ignis ‘lives’ up behind my left temple, Odin appears under my right eye, Gladio has claimed the area right around the base of my skull, etc. It’s weird, but it’s been incredibly consistent since I noticed it was a thing. It’s also a way to double-check myself: if I try to imagine the voice moving around and it does, I’m in control of the conversation. If it stays put (and often gives me a sense of bemusement), it’s the real deal. Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case with new spirits I don’t have a rapport with yet--their voices tend to bounce around, or be too quiet to pinpoint a location. It’s an odd little sign that this entity is going to stick around for a while when they decide on a specific ‘speaker’ placement (the Chocobros all had theirs within a day, which is super unusual).

And, of course, the basics still apply: I use divination (my fandom oracle deck in particular is not at all shy about saying ‘wow, you’re idiot’ when appropriate), listening to my gut if something feels off, asking for outside readings/confirmations, etc. These are always important, but particularly when the ‘line goes dead’ and I’m struggling with the quiet, my self-deprecating “I was probably imagining this all along” thoughts, and other various forms of doubt and anxiety.

Another important thing to remember, especially in the context of this blog, is that I’m not posting all of my experiences here. Sure, I’ll cry about how Gladio easily accepted my pronoun preferences, or how Loki and Ignis talked me out of a panic attack, but that doesn’t take into account the long stretches of silence, or the wtf flailing that comes with almost every conversation. Seriously, there’s a lot more struggling and doubt than ever makes it onto the page. Probably 95% of my spiritual experiences are self-doubt, doing way too much discernment divination, and sobbing in the corner.

time to get real about the future guys

alright so I’m studying for my midterm rn and all of a sudden I came with a concept to revolutionize our little capitalistic world. So instead of learning about the innate immune system I made this little blog and am writing this because I can’t seem to stop thinking about it.

okay so the main thing I want to change is the distribution of corporate production and marketing (not sure that means exactly what i want it to but English is not my first language, I’m dyslectic af so you’re gonna have to deal with it for now)

my idea is based on a couple of rules:

 there is only one type of each kind of item. why the fuck are there 5 brands of the same kind of fucking rice and shit like that?? 1 of each is all you get bitch

this eliminates the need for fancy packaging.(reducing waste and production costs) Only necessary kind of packaging, to keep things clean, fresh and healthy ya know?

all products are made/ grown/ harvested in the climate/ area they are most viable. don’t try to grow rice in the middle of the fucking desert, those sons of bitches looovveeee their water and that shit ain’t there so don’t even try it. oranges grow well in warm Mediterranean climates so how about we only grow them juice boiis in spain and mexico (and all other counties meeting the same qualifications). Every terrain/climate is a favorable environment for different plants and animals so why try to force them to grow in different areas than necessary? potatoes are tough as hell so you can plant those earth apples everywhere, same for goats, they’ll live everywhere man. remember that “they crave that mineral” blog post? they don’t even need surfaces to stand on, they can literally just walk on vertical wall wtf (no wonder they think the goat in the movie “the witch”is the devil)

fresh plant products are only sold when they’re in season. apples don’t grow in the fucking winter now do they?? but surplus apples from that years harvest sure make good applesauce that stays good for a really long time

we need to put a price tag on a persons time, level of knowledge and, physical and emotional effort and that’s what we base salaries on. So easy jobs that require little knowledge but take a lot of time and effort are paid the same as jobs that are hard. getting cursed and yelled at all day while sitting behind a counter is more intense than sitting in an office for example. Of course minimum wage will still have to be a thing.

I realize that there’s some areas in the world that are not good for growing crops or keeping animals but do have people living there. sooooo i thought that those place would be good to focus other 

to avoid conflict, all religion has got to go. I mean this in the least negative way possible but besides supporting a lot of people, religion is not doing a lot of good things for the general stability of the world. Having some nice morals to live by is good but all religions exclude large groups of people and for some reason (that I’ve never fully understood tbh) insinuates a lot of conflicts between different religions(over who’s got the coolest book? coolest main character in that book? idk man). As you can probably tell, I’m an atheist but I have no problem what so ever with any religion and the people in them (as long as they can still make independent choices between good and bad (people) outside of their beliefs. Hating someone for no other reason than because your religion says you should is a big no no in my opinion)  I’m pretty sure there’s like 4 people that are gonna read this and the only comment is gonna call me out on this point lol. In my mind, the absence of religion will create a more excepting environment where people lead their lives according to their own thoughts and emotions. In order for this to succeed common decency, discipline and sense will have to go up so, oh so much (I’ve worked in retail, restaurants and help desks. Far too many people are dicks).

lets talk education. I’m from the Netherlands and I’m not totally down with what we’ve got going on here but we’ve definitely got the right idea. USA has got to stop what they’re doing rn. I SAID STOPPPP!!!  yo honestly how are the people responsible for organizing and structuring education in the states still thinking they’re doing a good job. Grades aren’t everything dude. Can you use it in real life? Cool! you got it, nice job. life isn’t about theory and knowing everything by heart. It’s about understanding. The system there is so different that my friends at Uni that are from the states that used to get straight A’s are now having such a hard time because our tests aren’t made for repeating but for understanding. it’s a totally different type of intelligence and it saddens me to see them struggle. I totally forgot about what is was writing.THE FUTURE: so we need to divide kids into different levels at a younger age. Kids that perform under the required expectations get frustrated and start feeling less valuable (surprise, Everyone is a precious lill bean that deserves love, understanding and support. Just because math isn’t your thing doesn’t make you less of a person. I makes you a person that should probably not be a mathematician but can be soooooo much more. The same goes for smart children, if they are not challenged from a young age they are very likely to become frustrated and depressed. also, only the subject that are absolutely essential to survival in the adult world should be mandatory. I’m talking, would this person be able to do function in social situations, do their taxes, laundry, communicate verbally and in written word and would this person understand the world and not be scared of a solar eclipse or when women all of a sudden start bleeding out of their vagina. That would mean basic math: divisions, additions, subtractions and multiplications. The Native language: writing, reading, grammar (no mandatory reading because what does that add to anyones life let’s be real). Science: just the concepts of gravity, the planets and weather (no calculations). Biology: concepts of healthy bodily functions, we need people to understand what they should and should not report to a doctor for their own gender and any other one.( no complex molecule names or anything like that). And most importantly behavior/moral/life lessons. A lot of people are behaving unkind or unfair because they don’t know there are other ways, different emotional responses. Parents should 100% definitely try to do most of this themselves but parents are also just humans. Not all of them do a very good job at connecting and educating their kids emotionally. so on top of that they should be allowed to choose a school weeks worth of other subjects (they are not allowed to not go to school). Subjects have to be wider as well, more choice, more practical stuff as well. believe it or not, all kids want to learn. Usually the knowledge that is offered to them is just not valid for them (yet). every halve year or so they should be able to choose their subjects again, drop it if it wasn’t for them or continue if they loved it. This way adults will have had way more time so specialize into a bunch of things they’re good at or at least passionate about.

EQUALITY!!! easy concept, evidently difficult to realize. i’m thinking the whole education thing will help with the mental part for some people and the structured pay build up thing will make sure corporate life will chill . Also giving fathers paternity leave will even out the selection odds (”hiring women is expensive because they can get pregnant”).  Also had in mind that racism will stop because my educational system will exterminate ignorance and will teach everyone that each person is their own individual. We’re all different and we’re all the same and that’s good. Also everyone lives everywhere in my fun lill utopia so Nationalism will be way less in Individualism will be the norm.

I’m actually genuinely gonna put some research into all of this because i have some financial doubts but honestly rn the biggest reason this is unrealistic in today is because everyone would have to give up their selfishness and boy oh boy do we nowadays love that shit. me included, I ain’t perfect but I’m sorta okay with that

(Warning: movie spoilers. I tried hard not to be horribly specific, but if you read this, you’re going to get like. at least a pretty big overview of the movie. I think)

So. I just watched Life. my first thought: wtf. my second: wtf. (it goes on like this for like five minutes straight because that’s all that was going through my mind after I watched it). 

The thing is, it’s not bad. my “wtf” state of mind isn’t really a bad or good thing; it just really... wtf. 

So... ive got a couple of bones to pick with this movie (as I always do). they’re kind of small things though, so dwai. first of all: this alien they’ve designed. they mention quite a few times that each of its cells essentially functions as its own body. or maybe i’ve interpreted that incorrectly. but. I don’t know why they gave the alien the design that it has based on the description they’ve given the audience? why does it have a distinct head by the end of the movie? why does it have weird, wing-like appendages? wtf is going on with the way it’s eating? also! i don’t know why it drinks blood? or. something. like. from the way it’s depicted, it should be consuming pretty much the same kind of sustenance an earth creature might eat. In that vein of thought though, why would it drink blood? there’s a reason why there aren’t that many blood-sucking animals down here on planet earth: blood is kind of crappy as a life-giving substance. So... if this creature is really about efficiency of function and stuff like that, it should be going for the food that the astronauts definitely have on board. if you’re gonna argue that it’s a carnivore and that it’s actually eating their organs, i raise you that weird blood seeking scene after they figure out that it swallowed the tracker. 

secondly, if each cell really does function as its own body sort of thing, then why does it seem to have specialized appendages by the time it “evolves”? really, if all parts of its body can function on its own like it seems to be able to, then shouldn’t it just... be like an amorphous blob until it comes into contact with something? or it should be able to form/reform appendages wherever it needs to? idk, the whole alien design they had going on seemed really strange to me. (how does it eat??? does it just... absorb stuff through its skin? cause it doesn’t have specialized cells? so then its optimal form would be like a sheet then. or it should like. rotate the cells that are on the outside of its body? idk i’m not knowledgeable enough in science to figure it out).

I’m also not a huge fan of how they didn’t really explain what the terms they were saying meant (it took me like, until the thing escaped for me to figure out exactly what they meant by “firewall”)? but that wasn’t really a huge thing. idk there were a lot of like small things that weren’t great but they were fairly negligible.

for the most part though, I actually liked the movie. i’m actually impressed at how much it managed to surprise me. especially that ending. i’m a really big fan of the way they wrote the ending. i mean. it wasn’t hugely satisfying or anything, but it’s worth it for the “haha we got you” at the end. :P   it’s also largely what contributed to my “wtf” cyclic thinking. 

They had a diverse cast! was really happy about that. i don’t think i’ve watched enough movies to be able to say how like. diverse it actually is, but it managed to satisfy me (and they passed the bechdel test! only 2 women out of 6 people though). 

also, there are some good things to the alien they thought up: the tentacles, though illogical in some areas, do make sense. if it grew up in a place like space, where it seems weightless, it needs a good way to propel itself through the “air”, and the weird tentacle things it’s got going on aren’t actually doing that horrible of a job. itd make more sense if it had like... grippy things, or if it had a way to propel itself through the air without having to grab onto things, but like. it makes sense. 

idk. this whole movie... even now (a little less than a hour later?), I’m still not sure how I feel about it. I think i’m going to give it a 4/5. it surprised me in ways I didn’t expect to be surprised (i actually really did like the ending) and it fulfilled its purpose as a horror movie.
