HOBIE BROWN X BURNT OUT READER
Summary: Reader is overworking themselves, Hobie helps them out! (romantically implied)
Warnings: Forgetting to eat, almost fainting, my sleep-deprived grammar, oh and cursing
A/N: (totally not projecting right now how am I still in school. fucking finals... UGH!!)
Wordcount: 928 words
Tumblr media
You continued to type on your laptop, vigorously working the paper your English teacher thought would be a good idea to assign a week before final exams.
There was still some homework to catch up on, pages of mindless busywork to jot out. Even yet there were still study guides to fill out and memorize, and did you end up finishing that project on-
Your train of thought was broken off by the sound of your bedroom window being slid open. The culprit looked up at you before closing the window behind him.
"Hey," Hobie greeted, walking over and leaning against your desk.
You moved some of the papers scattered on your desk out of his way, before continuing to type down your thesis statement.
"No 'hey' back today?" he smirked, tilting his head.
"Yeah, no, yeah, hey Hobie." you muttered, bowed over your laptop.
"When'd this all happen?" he gesturing to the stacks of papers on your desk.
"When all my teachers simultaneously decided to be fucking cunts."
He chuckled, sitting down on your bed. For the past while Hobie had been coming over to visit you, the both of you keeping each other company from time to time.
It was like he could sense when you were neglecting yourself at this point, always coming at the most opportune times.
"You seem pretty stressed, when's the last time you've taken a break?"
"A break? Sorry, but have you seen what I have left to do here?" you gestured, exasperated.
"I take that as a no for break-taking."
"Nope." you sighed, flipping through your notes.
"You at least eat something earlier?" he asked questioningly.
"Yeah, sure, yeah." you waved him away, reading through highlighted bullet points.
"Alright then." he shrugged, holding his hands up in surrender.
A couple hours past, and the two of you sat in comfortable silence with one another. You could faintly hear heavy guitar emitting from his phone, and the sound of him chuckling at whatever he was scrolling through. You could just imagine how his face looked when he smiled, the way the corners of his mouth would slant upwards into that arrogantly smug grin that just fit him so well, his lip piercing shifting ever so slightly when he-
"Doin alright?" Hobie looked over at you, "Ya kinda spaced out for a bit."
You looked up at Hobie, and then back down at the blinking cursor on your screen, the last edit made 11 minutes ago.
"Shit."
"Think its bout time you took a break." Hobie sat up, looking at you with concern.
Your brain finally caught up to the conversation. "Huh? No, I'm good, I'm good, sorry."
"Don't apologize." He said, getting up and leaning against your desk once again. "Its been awhile, lets go grab something to eat."
You looked back down at your paper, not nearly as close to done as you had wanted. "I can't, not right now... I'm almost finished it though!" You smiled tiredly, trying to hype yourself up for the remainder of the work left.
Hobie looked over at you, the piles of homework on your desk, and then back at you, before closing your laptop shut.
"Hey!-"
"Nope. C'mon, you're takin a break." he deadpanned, serious.
You were about to retaliate once more before he shot you a glare. You knew if you didn't stop now, he'd end up dragging you away from your desk. Or even worse, keep your laptop hostage. You shuddered at the thought, before you saw movement beside you.
Hobie held out a hand for you to grab, looking down at you from where he stood. The light in your room bounced off him, his metal studs and pins shining in the light.
You grabbed his hand, allowing him to help pull you up. Spots dotted their way into your vision as you stood, feeling the world spin around you. When was the last time you ate? You gripped onto his hand tighter, waiting for the lightheaded feeling to pass.
"You good?" He looked down at you, faux uncaringness hiding the worry across his face.
"Mhm, yup, all good, perfect, just feel like fainting, gimmie a sec."
He continued to hold you up as you supported your weight against him. It was warm, comforting almost if you could ignore the sickly feeling in your stomach.
You were glad your body granted you the ability to see once more, blinking at your surroundings, only to be met with Hobie, having leaned down to look at you. His sharp dark eyes were laced with concern as they looked into yours.
"Shit, have you not eaten yet today?"
Thinking about it now, you couldn't quite recall when you last ate, but you couldn't quite remember much of anything staring into his eyes. You saw them soften before you, before he stood up straight again.
"Fucks sake, c'mon, lets go." Hobie rolled his eyes, putting one of your arms around his shoulders, holding you upright.
"Where we going?" You asked, feeling confident enough to stand on your own, but not wanting to pull away from his warm touch.
"Food joint. Someone smart as you'd think eating's a bright idea, no?" He chuckled, leading you through your bedroom door.
"Not taking the window this time?" you joked, giggling. He had always entered and exited your apartment through the windows, no matter how many times you've asked him to use the front door.
A smile pulled across his face, "Yeah, yeah, shuddup."
The two of you laughed, holding onto him as you left behind your homework.
A/N: (lets see if i have the mental capacity to keep posting!!! remember to eat and drink water!)

❪⠀🪐. hot chocolate⠀𓏔⠀bangchan⠀❫
Tumblr media
☆ㅤbarista!bangchan x afab!reader ( i wanna be yours oneshots )⠀★⠀9.1k words
( i'm sorry if this sucks, i know it's long. have a nice day cuties ♡ )
synopsys: every time you tell someone that you don't like coffee, the reaction is total incomprehension, even indignation. but when your university classmates leave you standing at the café where your crush works, you decide to order a coffee to try to avoid looking bad and end up making a fool of yourself. warnings: i think fluff bangchan needs a warning by itself because woah you can become addicted. but a part from that, there's a brief mention of death while talking about korean mithology, reader is a very introverted and insecure person ーexpect a lot of sad thoughts :(( but felix is here to save the day and hopefully the rest of the story is a little bit of idiots who have a crush on each other.
Tumblr media
You were stressed because the first semester was about to end, you had Christmas vacations around the corner, exams approaching at an overwhelming speed, and yet one of your teachers had given you two last-minute projects, one practical and one theoretical. Luckily it was in groups, and your best friend, Hyunjin, had included you in his after a quick pleading glance, assuring you some peace of mind. Not that he was very good at the academic aspect ーnotes, exams, homework and studying in generalー, but he made up for it with a great sense of aesthetic, and managed to make all your projects really visually appealing. Also, your other two friends were very nice and very good at the subject, so whenever you didn't understand something they would always offer to explain it to you with a big smile and kind words.
If they had a flaw, unfortunately, it was being late absolutely everywhere. And perhaps an unhealthy addiction to coffee, although that was not so much a flaw as a general characteristic of the vast majority of students. Sadly, neither of the two suited you at the moment, when you found yourself in front of the most famous coffee shop on the entire campus, all by yourself, after you had been forced to walk more meters than you were willing to do on a normal day, as they didn't show up at the appointed time. Having to enter without his company was not what worried you, but what you would have to face once inside.
To say you hated coffee would be an exaggeration. In fact, during exam week you would have a couple of cups to avoid falling asleep over your notes on those endless nights of studying, or in the middle of class, but it just wasn't your favorite flavor. You hated the taste. Too bitter, the unpleasant aftertaste instantly drying your mouth and lingering on your tongue as an annoying reminder of the beverage you had just tasted. You always grimaced terribly when you took your first sip, something that anyone watching you found absurdly funny, and then, as you swallowed, even with your eyes closed, a shiver would run through your spine, as if your body recognized the drink and reacted to it.
The problem was that 5STAR was a coffee shop that specialized in coffee. They had scones, and cookies, and brownies to go with it, but they didn't make smoothies or juices. And you usually only went there with Hyunjin, who had been responsible for asking if they could make hot chocolate that first afternoon you had met to study there, a couple of years ago, before he had even started working in the establishment. You had been so embarrassed that it had taken you quite a while to return, and since then you had always left it up to him to order for you, after you had made sure that the barista who was serving was either him or Felix, the blond, freckle-faced Australian you went to class with, because you had never felt judged by his smile upon discovering that the chocolate was for you.
But now you were alone, on the sidewalk, and the time you had spent looking inside the place was starting to look weird. Your options were simple: go in, order a hot chocolate, sit down to prepare the subject and pretend it was the most normal thing in the world, or go in, order the first coffee you saw on the menu hanging on the wall, sit down to prepare the subject and wait for Hyunjin to come through the door to ask him to drink it. Obviously, you chose the second option, too tempted at the thought that someone might judge you, so you closed your eyes, took a breath of air, and pushed open the heavy glass door, praying that the barista who was serving at that moment wasn't the cute guy who, you had to admit, you had a little crush on.
But there he was, behind the counter, with a friendly smile plastered on his face, his dimples appearing and disappearing as he moved his lips to talk to the customer in front of him. He had decided not to put on the beanie he usually wore almost every day, and his thick curls spilled over his head, giving him a more relaxed look, in contrast to the serious outfit that was the café's uniform, with black pants and T-shirt and beige apron. You knew relatively little about him, such as that his name was Chris and he had been at the same college you went to, but shooting him quick glances whenever you went and he was there was your favorite hobby.
You cleared your throat, tucking a strand of your hair behind your ear in a nervous gesture and stood in line, fiddling with your phone case, pulling out a corner and putting it back to pretend your hands weren't shaking. You didn't normally get so nervous about social interactions, but it was true that your natural shyness and introverted nature have given you more than one bad experience. And the fact that you were going to talk to Chris for the first time only made your anxiety skyrocket, because you know you weren't able to control what you say. Your mind went on autopilot, and all you' were left with was remembering for weeks the nonsense you had blurted out, unable to change a single word. You tried to formulate in your head the phrase you're going to use as the queue slowly moved forward, your gaze locked on the way you move your feet as you walked.
"Hello?" you heard, lifting your head so fast you feared you'd hurt your neck. Great, you were so distracted you didn't notice when it was your turn.
"Hi" you replied, forcing your eyes to fix on his and stopping them from roaming over every feature of his face. Fixing on his but blinking normally, you reminded yourself, clearing your throat again.
"Good afternoon" he repeated, his voice soft and gentle, one of his hands already over the screen to take down your order. "What will you have?"
"Oh..." you murmured, trying to rescue from your memory the phrase you had prepared. Don't say hot chocolate, don't say hot chocolate, don't say... "Hot chocolate."
"Huh?" he asked, his lips parted and his eyebrows furrowing in adorable confusion. You realized your tone was too low and he probably hadn't heard you correctly, though it was clear you had said something, denying you the chance to make up another answer to cover your mistake.
"Hot chocolate" you whispered again, glancing at the three people behind you, trying not to let them hear. You noticed the heat flushing your cheeks as you spoke, "Can you, uh, can you say it's something else?"
"Excuse me?" you couldn't help but watch his frown deepen even more, and you made a panicked face, trying to find a convincing excuse that didn't expose your null extroverted abilities or how poorly you had approached the conversation. Chris realized almost instantly how it was affecting you, and reached a hand over the counter to caress yours, relaxing his features. "Hey, hey, I just don't understand what you mean."
You heard the hammering of your heartbeat all over the place, drowning out the background noise as it rumbled in your ears, or in the muscles of your hand that were in contact with the barista's skin, but mostly in your chest, at such a volume that for a moment you feared all the café would be able to hear it. You swallowed saliva with difficulty, your mouth suddenly completely dry, and tried to formulate something that made a minimal amount of sense, "I'd rather not drink coffee, but I don't want those in the back to know that I ordered hot chocolate."
And then you saw him flash that smile you loved so much, trying to stifle a laugh, and he nodded, withdrawing his hand from above yours to write it down.
"Don't worry, I'll personally take care of your order" he assured you, his eyes glinting at the screen, biting his lip unconsciously in a gesture of concentration. "A mocca coffee, then, right?" he said, raising his tone a little.
"Yes" you replied, avoiding his gaze, shyly, when he shifted it slightly towards you to ask for your name. You set your phone down on the marbled surface of the counter to rummage through your totebag for your wallet. "It's to take here, not to go."
"Oh, then I'll bring it to you at the table when it's ready," he announced, leaning on his forearms to look down at you.
"But..., how much is it?" you asked, confused, the wallet open in your hands, a few coins on your palm.
"It's on the house" he answered you, his dimples accentuating.
The warmth in your cheeks spread across your face, and you made a little bow, knowing that you must have been flushed to your ears. You didn't bother struggling to hide your smile, and hurriedly put away your wallet, grabbing your phone and mumbling some kind of nervous thank you. When you turned around, your face out of Chris's gaze, you sighed, placing your hands on your cheeks to calm down a bit, and looked around for some table to sit at. The one you normally occupied was being used by a girl, but there were few people at that time, so you chose a nearby one, assuming Hyunjin wouldn't mind, and once everything was ready you started to take out the material.
You had brought your laptop, of course, and had printed out some ideas you'd had, sketching in the margins how you intended to cover the visual part 一although that was taken care of by Hyunjin. But you knew he was a bit chaotic, so having a base for what the presentation would look like always came in handy. That day you were going to prepare the theoretical part, in which you were to choose a song and a theme, write a long document stating your reasons, and then prepare a performance in which you would narrate some typical legend of the country through dance. As if you had the mental capacity to create a choreography from scratch at this point of the semester.
You knew it was going to be a relatively short meeting, because you were all out of time, so you entertained yourself looking for songs that would inspire you for the theme you had chosen, the Jeosung Saja. To tell the truth you had no idea about Korean mythology, but you had spent the whole afternoon looking for ideas on the internet and that was the most likely to present a good dance. They were messengers from the afterlife, those who guided the dead to the afterlife. You had read that they were usually represented with a black hanbok, and they also appeared in some dorama that had become famous, so you could develop a dark aesthetic, as Hyunjin liked so much.
You were so engrossed in rereading what you had written on your laptop screen, and in the list of songs recommended by the teacher, that you didn't notice that Chris had left the cup of chocolate on the table. You had to contain the pout you wanted to make, because you were sure he hadn't said anything to avoid disturbing you. It smelled wonderful, and he had left you a plate with a buttery croissant next to the hot chocolate, with a folded paper napkin that read "a mocha for the lovely girl at table 8 :))". Your lips began to curl into a smile as you took the napkin and carefully tucked it away in your planner, unable to stay focused on the music anymore.
Just as you had taken the cup in your hands, the temperature of the porcelain fighting the coldness of your skin, and warming your throat as you tasted it, Hyunjin and Felix entered the room, a chaos of laughter and exclamations, Sunwoo following closely behind, engaged in their conversation. You pretended to wince angrily, frowning and hastily putting the cup down on the table to cross your arms over your chest, giving Hyunjin a dirty look. When the boy noticed your state he hurried to sit next to you, his chin resting on your shoulder, mumbling various apologies about his delay.
"It was my fault, Ynnie," stated Sunwoo, setting his backpack on the table and sitting down across from you. "We were practicing the dance in Professor Park's class and there was a sequence of steps that kept going wrong for me."
"Don't worry, Woo" you replied, snuggling up next to Hyunjin, like always when you were together. "I'm doing it to annoy him."
"And what are you going to complain about if you got your chocolate?" you heard him mutter, picking up the cup to steal a sip from you.
"No thanks to you" you whispered back, taking it from his hands to drink yourself.
"Oooh, come on, don't be like that" he protested, his head resting on your shoulder, rolling his eyes, which managed to snatch some laughter from Felix. At your silence he turned just enough so he could make eye contact with you. "Are you really mad?"
"No."
"But?" he asked, knowing from the way you were that you weren't going to let on how much it had upset you if that had been the case.
"I had a hard time" you muttered, hiding behind your cup. "Neither Felix nor you were here to save me from having to ask for it myself."
"Whose turn was it today?" Sunwoo spoke up, turning to Hyunjin as he pulled out his own laptop.
"Chris" you replied, your cheeks reddening again.
"Oh" Felix said, before cracking a smile that hid how much he was dying to let out a squeal of excitement, "oooh."
"Oh, what?" asked Hyunjin, peeling slightly away from you and frowning in confusion.
"Nothing" you ended the conversation with a warning gesture to Felix, who pretended to run a zipper over his lips, and handed out the printed sheets of paper with the information you had found the previous afternoon, trying to get started on the project. "Well, I had thought about..."
"No, oh, what?" repeated Hyune, completely ignoring the written words and dividing his attention between the freckled boy in front of him and you, "what does he know that I don't?"
"Dude, if you don't know it's because you're just blind" Sunwoo stated, focused on the information, with a gesture of disbelief on his face.
"Guys, please" you requested, avoiding looking at Hyunjin and glancing back down at the sheet. "As I was saying, I had thought of basing our dance on the legend of the Jeosung Saja. You have a summary there, but I'll comment quickly: we can create a story from scratch about someone's death, and have two of us act as the Korean messengers, who let him say goodbye to the love of his life before guiding him to the afterlife, or something like that. I don't have the music yet, but it sounds like a good plan."
"It says here that we'd have to look for some black hanbok" Sunwoo pointed out, as you nodded, and shared a look with you, implying that he approved of the idea, already looking for ways to carry it out.
"Actually, I had thought of something else" Felix muttered, his fingers fiddling with the paper nervously. "Ehm, I read an article yesterday about these... Korean ghosts. They're called Gwisin, and there are four types, like us, there are four of us. There's Cheonyeo, which is the virgin ghost, Mul is the water ghost, Chonggak is the single man ghost, and Dalgyal is the egg ghost. There's only one girl, so it seemed perfect to me. It still has dark aesthetics, because they are wandering spirits of humans who have died with unfinished business, and also to record the dance we can talk to my friend Jake, who is doing a degree in photography and is good with cameras."
"I was going to propose Han or Chris to help us with the music" Sunwoo added, "because with all the time they spend glued to their laptops they're sure to have some track we can use, and we don't even need lyrics."
"Oh, it's actually much better than my idea, Felix" you agreed, closing the tab with the information you had searched for and starting to research about the Gwisin. As you read, you brainstormed, rambling outloud. "We can connect the lives of the four characters, do four solos that blend together, and add minutes of duets until, at the end, all four spirits end up accomplishing the unfinished business they had and do a final scene together"
"Yes!" exclaimed Felix, excited. "Just what I had thought. They've made scary movies about the Gwisin, but we can give it a dramatic twist. The virgin girl was an unrequited love of the water ghost, for example. We're going to have to get a pool to shoot the moment when he dances, you know, when he drowns and dies."
"That can be the start of the dance" proposed Sunwoo.
"I offer it to be me, if you want" said Felix, "I don't mind getting in the pool in December. I have enough experience in cold water, from when I was in Australia."
"Perfect" you affirmed, glad that you had gotten the job on track so well in such a short time. "I think we can go straight back to the studio to prepare the music, what do you think, Hyune?"
He had been uncharacteristically quiet throughout your talk, head resting on the back of the seat and gazing blankly, taking small sips from the cup of hot chocolate, with absent-minded gestures. You could almost see the gears turning in his mind, as he slowly nibbled at the croissant Chris had left for you. There was something that had been bothering him.
"I need a coffee," he muttered, leaving your empty cup on the table and ignoring your question, "would you like another chocolate?"
"Hyune..." you mumbled, confused at his attitude.
"I'll order it to go, don't worry" he added, grabbing his backpack. "I think Han is at home and has the 3racha equipment."
You shrugged as he stood up, and you then began to pick up your laptop and notebook, shoving them into your bag in a hurry to keep up with Felix and Sunwoo, who had hardly had to put anything away. Sunwoo had his own laptop already in the case, and Felix was folding the paper you had printed out, carefully, to tuck it between his notebooks, into his backpack. The three of you headed outside, to wait for Hyunjin, while Felix ran a hand around your waist, trying to coax information out of you.
"So..., Chris, huh?"
"Can we talk about how Hyunjin is mad for talking about it in front of him when he doesn't know anything?" you replied, giving him a loving punch on the arm. "Drop the topic."
"But it's the first time you've talked to him!" he protested, pouting, "I want to know everything!"
"YN is right, Lix," Sunwoo supported you, to which you shot him a grateful look. "Hyunjin is our creative soul and he hasn't blurted out a single word, that says a lot about the situation."
"I'm going to have to tell him about the crush, anyway" you stated, making the decision on the spot, leaning against Felix, "because it's not fair that he doesn't know."
"I don't understand why you haven't told him yet" he said, shrugging his shoulders.
"Hyunjin and Chris work together" you explained, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world, "and besides, they're close friends."
"So does Felix" Sunwoo reproached, frowning.
"Felix keeps my secrets" you confessed, resting your head on his shoulder with a smile. "Hyune is too much of a gossip to keep that sort of thing to himself."
"If you tell him it's a secret he sure won't let it out" Felix muttered, defending his friend.
You glanced inside the shop, where Hyunjin was leaning against the counter, throwing his head back every time he let out a laugh, while Chris was talking to him, moving fluidly between the machines, preparing the order with expert hands. You couldn't help but feel a pang of envy at his familiarity. You weren't used to feeling this way about your friends, but the way Hyunjin's eyes twinkled at the jokes the barista would drop with a serious gesture and then burst into adorable laughter made you wonder if you hadn't been a little blind to their interactions. You tried not to think too much about it, but you had always had very bad luck with your crushes, something that had only increased your insecurities, and had forced you to keep a low profile on such matters.
"YN?" murmured Felix, one hand caressing your shoulder in an affectionate gesture. "You know he wouldn't say anything, right?"
"I know, it's just..." you lost the thread of your words, absorbed in the scene unfolding behind the glass, Chris reaching for a black marker to write something down on one of the take away cups, Hyunjin too busy searching for his wallet in his backpack to notice.
"Whatever you're overthinking right now isn't true" you heard the freckled blond say, drawing your attention back to him. "It's not the first time you've broken your own heart by heeding unrealistic assumptions you've got stuck in your head. Trust Hyunjin, he would never hurt you on purpose."
"I know," you repeated, turning to face away from the café, but avoiding making eye contact with him, "but I don't... I know and I repeat it to myself, but sometimes I just don't listen, even if it's true."
When you looked up, your eyes beginning to fill with tears you didn't intend to shed, Felix was giving you a look full of understanding. You had few friends as close to your heart as he and Hyunjin, but between Lix and you there had always been a kind of connection built on a common bond, as had been the constant insecurities that only you were able to keep from escalating.
"Let me know when it's like this," he asked, his hand leaving your shoulder and running down your arm until it came to fidget with your fingers, "give me a sign, or look at me. I'll remind you."
You nodded, resting your forehead in the crook of his neck, letting yourself be comforted by his touch, and managed to muster a smile as he tried to give you a hug but your totebag blocked his way. You saw him pout, and you let out a laugh, being interrupted by a shy cough from Sunwoo, who had taken a couple of steps away to give you privacy.
"I'm talking to Han and he asked me what kind of music we're looking for" he explained, pointing to his phone, "in case he can go looking through the songs they have already done or half done, so we don't have to start something new."
"Oh, sure" you said, frowning in a thoughtful gesture. "I'd say something dark, wouldn't you?"
"No doubt" Felix seconded, nodding at your words.
"And since the main choreographer is Hyune, add elegant and heart-wrenching as well" you straightened your figure, watching as Sunwoo typed hurriedly, his fingers speeding over the screen, "if what we're going to narrate is a story of unrequited love, and death, we'd better do something dramatic."
"A hot chocolate!" exclaimed Hyunjin, pushing the door open with his hip, both hands busy with the take away cups. "A hot chocolate for you, and coffee for me."
"Thank you, Hyune" you whispered, leaving a kiss on his cheek as he handed you the cup, again grateful for the warmth emanating from it.
"Looks to me like it has a message, Ynnie" Felix said to you, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively, pointing to the letters you could guess under your fingers. You noticed how your cheeks flushed again, moving your hands so you could read all the words, and recognizing Chris's neat handwriting.
"What the hell are you talking about?" exclaimed Hyunjin, rushing over to you to try to read it first. "What does it say?"
"Thought you were really cute, leave my number here" you murmured, starting to crack a big smile, savoring the words as you said them, your heart skipping a beat when you saw that he had drawn a smiley face again and you imagined him, showing his dimples.
Hyunjin had repeated it again aloud, and you heard Felix stifle a gasp, holding his hands to his mouth, his face the vivid image of surprise. Sunwoo had merely let out a laugh and shook his head, as if he didn't believe what had just happened, still holding his phone in his hand. When you looked up, you found disbelief tinting Hyunjin's eyes, one of his hands still holding your arm from when he had rushed to read message over your shoulder.
"Oh," you breathed, causing Felix to snort.
"That's all you're going to say?"
"What do you expect me to say?" you replied, a soft chuckle bubbling up inside you.
"At least say hello to him through the glass," Sunwoo suggested to you, tilting his head in the direction of the café, which was at your back, "the poor guy looks like he wants to turn into a giraffe, from how much he's stretching his neck this way."
You turned your head as soon as you processed what Woo had just said, listening to Hyunjin complaining if that had anything to do with what Felix had said when you had confessed that the barista who had served you was Chris. Just as your friend had said, Chris was resting his hands on the counter, his body almost hovering completely over the surface, trying to figure out what your reaction had been. The moment you made eye contact, and gave him a shy smile, he couldn't help but turn with a jerk, suddenly suddenly busy with a non-existent order.
"Ynnie has a cruush" Felix crooned, causing Hyunjin to open his mouth in a gesture of exaggerated drama that you totally deserved.
"And you weren't planning on telling me anything!" he exclaimed, indignantly.
"She was literally going to tell you now" Sunwoo interjected, helping you balance the tragedy, "but Chris beat you to it."
"I have to tell Changbin" commented Felix, picking up his phone, "now he owes me money."
"You were keeping a bet on them?" asked Hyunjin, pouting. "Did everyone know but me?"
"Hyune, YN doesn't know how to pretend" explained Felix, resting a hand on his shoulder as he reached for Changbin's contact, "Changbin only needed to spend a few minutes with her at the café to figure it out."
While they started a new argument on the topic, you brought the glass to your lips, wanting to taste that drink that you liked so much, and that now that you knew that Chris had prepared it with so much love, it had become your favorite. But as soon as you took a sip and the bitter taste of coffee settled in your mouth, you pushed the glass away, trying to avoid looking into the coffee shop with a confused gesture, and taking the cap off, as if you wanted to make sure that what you had just drunk was definitely not chocolate. But when you breathed in the unmistakable smell of coffee, you noticed how your chest contracted. And suddenly you saw, as if in slow motion, the interaction Chris had had with Hyunjin while you waited, the adoration with which the barista had watched your friend laugh. How he had taken advantage of just when Hyunjin wasn't looking to write the note in his coffee, all those times you had caught them talking and they had fallen silent in your presence. How, yet again, the guy you'd fallen for chose someone else over you, another crush that ended badly, and it pained you to look back and only see a trail of stories in which the only heart that had ended up breaking was yours.
"Hey, let's get going, shall we?" proposed Sunwoo, getting your attention.
You listened as Felix and Hyunjin agreed with him with small nods, but without letting go of their playful bickering, taking off walking towards the apartment where the latter lived with Han Jisung. You had heard them, but all your enthusiasm for the project had vanished, leaving in its place a constant stinging in your eyes, which struggled not to tear up in the middle of the street.
"YN, aren't you coming?" asked Hyunjin, stopping everyone when he realized you weren't with them, that you had stayed behind.
You managed to shake your head, a small movement that was enough to make your friend frown, taking a couple of steps towards you. You tried to compose yourself, ignoring your feelings 一at least for the moment一 and swallowed before formulating the first excuse that came to mind:
"I'm... not feeling too well, guys" you stammered, intensifying your gaze towards Sunwoo, who was the most likely to let you go without asking too many questions.
"But a moment ago you were perfectly fine" Felix muttered, and you noticed his eyes on you, trying to unravel the hidden reasons for your departure.
"I'd rather go home" you said, in a whimper, the warmth of the glass that had comforted you so much a few seconds ago suddenly burning your skin, "you guys can choose the music. It's Lix's idea anyway, it's only fair that he gets to decide."
"Are you sure?" asked Hyunjin, coming up to you, putting the back of his hand on your forehead, like a worried mother would do with her baby.
"Mm-hm" you held out the coffee cup, unable to hold it for much longer, for him to take, and made the mistake of looking at Felix before blurting out a "this is yours" directed at Hyunjin.
You cleared your throat, placing the straps of your totebag more comfortably over your shoulder, and muttered some sort of goodbye before turning and running away, not quite witnessing the way Felix had snatched the cup from Hyunjin to check its contents, and letting out a frustration-laden sigh as he realized what your train of thought had been.
The rest of the afternoon had not been very relevant. You had work to do, like everyone else, and you were also one of those people who wanted to get all your notes done before the Christmas vacations, so you used to spend all December writing again with better caligraphy all the topics you've learned throught the semester. You didn't want to collapse yet, you preferred to keep your head busy, trying to pretend that nothing had happened until you couldn't take any more. In any case, you had already entered that stage where you began to belittle your own thoughts, doubting that your response to the situation had been the right one.
Or, if you stopped to think about it long enough, you could almost see your insecurities swirling around your heart, suffocating you from inside your own chest. That's why you had immersed yourself in the most difficult subjects, praying that filling your head with information would empty it of stupid reasonings. And you had succeeded in your purpose, at least for as many hours as possible, until you heard your phone ring between the couch cushions and snapped out of your self-absorption to answer it.
"Yeah?" you mumbled, your mouth dry from having gone so long without speaking, not paying attention to who was calling you at that hour.
"Ynnie" you heard Felix say, his deep voice sending a shiver down your spine. "How are you?"
"How am I?" you repeated, clearing your throat and straightening your posture, as if he could see you and you had to play the role of carefree teenager. "Fine. Well, stressed about finals, but like everyone else, I guess, right?"
The laugh that escaped your lips without permission sounded too fake, and you closed your eyes, wincing, because you knew it wouldn't be believable. You obviously knew Felix wasn't an idiot. He'd probably realized you'd left for a compelling reason, and not exactly because you'd suddenly been struck by a migraine or a tummy ache. You considered lying and saying that you'd had your period the day before; he knew perfectly well that you had a really bad time the first few days. But it wasn't going to be worth it.
"You know that coffee..." he started to explain, his tone totally serious, as if he was telling you off.
"Stop" you interrupted him, standing up, your notebooks and papers strewn across the table, being ignored, as you paced around the room like a caged lion. "I don't want to talk about it, don't bring it up, please."
On the other end of the line, Felix made eye contact with Hyunjin, who was sitting next to him, listening to the whole conversation, and let out a long sigh, "Okay" he agreed, unable to force the conversation, "but remember what I told you, okay?"
"Yeah, whatever" you whispered, trying to avoid having to give an answer. "Did you call me to talk about that?"
"No, actually" he stated, and your lips curved into a sad smile at the emptiness you felt when you realized he had dropped the subject, just as you had asked. You didn't know if it was relief at not having to deal with the situation, or if you were hurt at how quickly he had given up, "It's about the music for the project."
"Do you guys have the song yet?"
"We need you to choose it," you had spoken practically at the same time, the silence that followed the cacophony of voices heavy on your shoulders, and Felix held his breath, waiting for an answer he didn't know if it would come.
"You can send me an audio of the options Jisung has, can't you?" you asked, hoping your friend wasn't asking what you knew he was going to ask.
"He has them on his laptop" he added, without actually explaining what he intended for you to do.
"Aren't you with him?" you frowned in a confused gesture, not understanding what was going through his head, "can't you ask him to put them on?"
"I'm at my place" he confessed, and you heard the movement of clothes as they brushed against each other, you guessed he had gotten up from wherever he was sitting, "Hyune and I came over after talking to Han because he had to meet his group from his AV Tech class. But he's going to stop by later, in case you wanted to come."
"Ah," you breathed, suddenly understanding. Probably what he wanted was for you to get out of your apartment, perhaps intending that you wouldn't be able to resist the pout on Hyunjin's face when you were told that the coffee scene had been a misunderstanding. You could agree to the former... The latter was more complicated.
"We can order your favorite pizza, and then you can stay over," he proposed, taking the risk that such insistence would push you away, "what do you say?"
You contemplated your options. You could use Seungmin, your roommate, as an excuse, but Felix was capable of texting him to confirm your alibi, and no one could resist Felix. Deep down, you knew you were going to end up going, but for a few seconds you allowed yourself to imagine what you could say to him to get him to leave you alone. You took a breath of air, leaning against the hallway wall, and closed your eyes tightly, trying not to think about how much you could come to regret your decision.
"But you have to promise me one thing," you announced, hearing Hyunjin's celebratory whispers on the other end of the line, "we don't talk about what happened this afternoon. Not today, not ever."
Felix snorted, against the idea, considering another way to approach the conversation to get you to stop thinking about it, but since he had shared with Hyunjin the plan he had developed while Han was showing them his music, and the boy was completely lacking in any kind of censure, he couldn't stop himself from exclaiming, "Okay! But you come!"
Felix heard you mutter a farewell before hanging up, and he stared at his friend with annoyance written all over his face. He knew that, although the way he had said it had sounded suspicious, Hyunjin had done it for everyone's sake, but he couldn't help but give him a murderous glare for not letting him have his way. The boy shrugged, unfazed by his antics, and rose from the bed, arching his eyebrow in his direction, ready to have the last word:
"I hope you time it right and this goes well."
When you arrived, fifteen minutes later, wrapped in a thick coat and one of your colorful scarves, but with your pajamas underneath, the pizzas had already arrived. You saw them on the kitchen counter, filling everything with a delicious aroma of bacon and cheese, when Felix opened the door with a smile. You lifted your backpack with a condescending grimace, implying that you had brought a change of clothes and your overnight kit, agreeing to spend the night in his apartment, and he let out a chuckle that almost managed to break the imperturbable facade with which you had decided to wear.
"Hyune is choosing film" he informed you, helping you take off your coat to hang it in the closet.
You tried to ignore the sting you felt in your chest at the memory of the circumstances under which you had said goodbye to Hyunjin, and promised yourself to make it up to him somehow. He didn't deserve to deal with your feelings like that, not when it wasn't his fault that your crush was onto him. So you headed straight for the small living room, where your friend took up the entire length of the couch thanks to his height, and you threw yourself on top him gently, letting him give you a hug as he chuckled awkwardly, his lungs taking in less air than they let out thanks to the extra weight of your body on top of his.
"What do you have in mind?" you asked him, looking at the television screen, and the endless possibilities the audiovisual platform offered.
"I haven't really chosen between Alice in Wonderland and Nightmare Before Christmas" he acknowledged, following your gaze, locating the second one he had mentioned in the bottom corner.
"Mmm, which of the Alice versions are we talking about?"
"The first one" he told you, "the live action one."
"Oh, put that one on, please" you asked, trying to adopt your best pleading face, pouting in the same way you had seen Felix do so many times. You watched as he erased what he had written on the browser and followed your instructions, while you basked in the warmth of the fabric of his hoodie against your cheek, and his arm across your back. You could have stayed there, half asleep, for the rest of the semester, for the rest of the year even, if it hadn't been for how loud the bell had been when it rang, Hyunjin straining underneath you.
"That must be Jisung" you surmised, getting up much to your dismay, "I'll go open the door."
Felix was too busy in the kitchen, hands full of brownie batter, so you walked down the hallway back to the front door, peeking through the peephole to make sure it was Han on the other side. But your breath caught as you recognized the features of the barista you'd seen just hours earlier at 5STAR. You opened your eyes wide, not knowing how to react, and peeked into the kitchen to ask Felix. To your surprise, he was already watching, confirming to you, as soon as you saw his apologetic smile, that this was all his doing.
You decided not to say a single word, and focus on calming your racing heart before facing an interaction with Chris again. The doorbell rang again, jolting you out of your self-absorption with a scare, and you hurried to unlock the door, opening it with a smile that you liked to think it was normal.
"Hello" you said to him, proud that your voice sounded more confident than you felt.
"Oh" he breathed, his surprised eyes roaming over your features, "hi." You saw him flash a beautiful smile, and raise his hand to wave at you, as if he were a little boy excited to meet a new friend. "The lovely girl from table 8."
"That's me" you replied, opening the door wider so he could come in, "thank you for inviting me to the chocolate, I don't know if the croissant was tasty or not because Hyunjin ate it, but I bet it was."
Mentioning your friend's name just to see how he reacted had been a pathetic move, but you hadn't been able to stop yourself. If you could turn back time you would have bitten your tongue, though, after watching his ears blush at your words, proving you right. You swallowed the knot in your throat when you heard his giggles, and he walked into the apartment, taking off his coat.
"I wouldn't say it's my best recipe, but thanks for the confidence" he commented to you, and you took his coat, just as Felix had done with you, to hang it in the closet. You tried not to make it too obvious the way you checked that he was still wearing his café uniform, the sleeves of the black t-shirt tracing his arms. "I'll have to let you try it on another time, then, so you can give me your opinion."
You gave him a strained smile, standing there in the middle of the hallway, and when you saw Hyunjin poke his head out the living room door to see what was going on, you indicated to Chris that Felix was in the kitchen by pointing him to the room, and seizing the opportunity when he went to greet his friend to return to Hyunjin, sitting with your back straight against the backrest, pulling your legs up until your knees were pulled up to your chest.
"You guys are a bunch of assholes" you whispered, staring at the TV screen, not really seeing anything.
"You know how Felix is" Hyunjin answered you, resting his head on your shoulder in an affectionate gesture.
"How am I going to...?"
"YN!" exclaimed Felix going to his room, "Take care of putting the brownies in the oven, please!"
"Oh, my God, I'm going to kill him" you muttered, closing your eyes tightly and dropping your head against the couch.
"Fighting" your friend said to you, giving you a sad smile and a small kiss on your cheek.
You let out a long sigh before getting up, and started to look for Felix around the part of the apartment where you thought his voice had come from, to ask him what the hell he thought he was doing. You guessed he was in the bathroom, the sound of running water audible from outside, and knocked on the door.
"Yes?"
"Lixie, you know I love you very much" you began, taking a breath to start to tell him off all the decisions he had made so far in his face.
"I know I'm not your favorite person right now, Ynnie," you heard him speak, his voice muffled by the water, so you assumed he was taking a shower, "but there was an incident with the chocolate and I stained everything. Chris is trying to fix it, but I needed to take a shower."
"How much time do I have to set the brownies for?" you asked, surrendering, your shoulders tensing at the thought. The sooner you accepted that you weren't going to get out of interacting with your crush and Hyunjin at the same time, the sooner the night would pass and the sooner you could get back to your normal life.
"I've already left the temperature on! It's only twenty minutes!" he exclaimed, "You're the best!"
"Yeah, yeah, whatever" you muttered, retracing your path to the kitchen, only to find Chris rummaging through the cupboards. "What... what are you doing?"
The boy startled, jumping a little on the spot, and banging his forehead against the corner of the door, which made you choke back a scream and run to him, your hand pressing down over his in the area of the bump and you reacted with a startled "Are you okay? Oh, God, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry" to his whine.
"It's okay, really" he answered you, fully flushed, suddenly aware of how close you were to him.
"No, no, it's not okay at all" you affirmed, taking a couple of steps backwards looking for the fridge with your eyes, only to bend down to grab some ice cubes from the freezer and wrap them in a clean cloth, approaching him again. You grabbed his wrist gently and removed his hand from his forehead, assessing the damage before resting the wrapped ices carefully over the bump. "You sure have a terrible impression of me."
"That's not true" he whispered, cracking a small smile, avoiding your gaze out of embarrassment.
"I'm terribly sorry, really" you repeated, unable to say anything else.
"It could have happened to anyone, don't worry."
"What were you doing, anyway?" you asked, your hands still busy, one with the ice and the other one with your fingers closed around his wrist. When you noticed, you tried to direct him to take the cloth himself.
"From what Felix explained to me, he was so nervous he must have mixed something wrong, and then I don't know how he did it but he ended up with half the batter all over his shirt and arms," he explained to you, leaning on the counter, "I was trying to find chocolate to make it better. I'm not the best pastry chef, but working in the café has taught me something."
You looked over to where the bowl Felix had used was, and saw next to it the mixer you had bought him for his birthday, a few drops of mixture on the surface and more on the floor.
"It was his first time using that mixer" you assumed, trying to stifle a chuckle, "I'm sure he miscalculated the power and it blew all over."
The laughter Chris let out was music to your ears, and when you turned to look at him you realized how close you were to him. There were barely inches between you, and your legs were practically intertwined. You cleared your throat, parting slightly, and made eye contact with him, letting yourself be absorbed by his tiny brown eyes, which matched his dimples, narrowed into two crescent moons.
"There's no more chocolate, by the way" he told you, remembering why you were in that situation.
"I can go out and buy more" you solved, fully intending to go grab your wallet and leave, realizing how whipped you were for him.
"No way, it's my thing, I should go" he rebutted, massaging his forehead from time to time.
"You're hurt" you pointed out, looking for more reasonings, "you're not going to beat me if you pick a fight with me over this".
"Oh, believe me I am" he replied, leaving the ice cubes on the counter and heading for the hallway, "you do what you want but I'm going to get dessert somewhere."
"Then you're not going alone."
You left him looking for his coat in the closet as you went to tell Hyunjin what you were going to do, your friend still lying on the couch scrolling through his phone, probably on TikTok. His face was the mirror of pure surprise and disbelief, before he grinned mischievously. You rolled your eyes and turned your back on him, leaving him there and grabbing your own phone on the way, meeting Chris in front of the door. He had your coat in his hands, and helped you put it on. You then made sure you had your spare keys in your pocket and walked out of the apartment.
"Not to put you down, but... you are aware that you're in your pajamas, right?" asked Chris, his ears blushing as he realized it, slyly tracing the curves of your hips.
"Yeah, it's okay," you said, oblivious, making a nonchalant gesture, "it's not the first time I've done this."
"Where do you plan to go?" you heard him coming down the stairs behind you.
"There's a bakery a couple of blocks from here that closes pretty late, so we'll get there on time" you explained, leading him out of the building.
"So it really isn't the first time you do this" he confirmed, a soft giggle escaping his lips.
"Yeah, it's pretty fun" you said, remembering all the times you'd done it, more than once with your friends, rain or shine, "it's closer to Hyunjin's house, so we usually go from there, but yeah."
"Oh, you guys seem pretty close" he commented.
You tried not to let your wince show, not understanding why you always ended up mentioning the dancer in your conversations with Chris. The time was approaching when he would start asking you questions about Hyunjin to find out more about him, and you didn't know if you would be able to handle it.
"Yes, we have been together for a long time" you confirmed, trying to reveal as little information as possible, "he is someone very dear to me".
"Whenever I see you you're with him" he continued, his shoulder brushing next to yours, "at the café, I mean".
"He's the one in charge of ordering the chocolate for me" you confessed, changing the subject. "You make great chocolate, by the way. I couldn't tell you today, you dropped it off and left."
"You were so focused I didn't want to disturb you" he acknowledged, letting out a soft laugh.
"I guessed as much" you affirmed, noticing the streets you were passing instead of glancing sideways at him, as you were dying to do, "I also noticed the napkin."
"The nap...? Oh!"
"Yeah, oh," you repeated, your laughter awakening butterflies in his stomach, "people don't usually flirt with me like that."
"Fli- ehem, flirt?" he stammered, his face suddenly red with shyness. He hadn't expected you to be so direct with the subject.
"Well, not flirting," you corrected yourself, realizing your mistake, "but you have a lot of rizz."
"You're not the first one to tell me that" he nodded, clearing his throat, "my sister calls me Chrizztopher to mess with me."
"I like your sister, then" you acknowledged, reordering your thoughts to figure out how to phrase your question, and find out finally if you were going crazy or you were just insecure, "but... well, not that I'm complaining, but you still shouldn't waste it on me."
"Waste it? On you?" the conversation was losing all meaning to him, his brow furrowing more and more in confusion.
"Yeah, you know" you tried to explain, trying not sounding as bad as you felt, "focus it all on the person you like, instead of random girls."
"But... I'm already doing that" he protested, stopping in the middle of the sidewalk, halting your walk, "the chocolate...".
"The hot chocolate was nice of you, but I'm talking about Hyunjin."
"What the hell does Hyunjin have to do with you?" he exclaimed, incredulous.
"With me?" you asked, your heart stopping at the possibility his words were offering you. "But... the message in the coffee, wasn't it for Hyunjin?"
"What message?" you were looking into each other's eyes, for the first time without any shyness on either side, both trying to understand each other.
"The message on the coffee cup that said you thought Hyunjin was cute" you replied, shoving your hands in your coat pockets, fiddling with your phone case to calm your nerves. "The one with you phone number".
"Did I write the message on the wrong cup?" he lamented, unable to believe his bad luck.
"The wrong cup?" you repeated, unable to process what was happening.
"I've had a crush on you since you first walked into the café" he stated, deciding to tell his biggest secret just so he could make it clear what was going on.
"What?"
"I... Yeah, there's not much more to say" his nervous laugh snapped you out of your shock, blinking to look at him again, this time with a clearer mind. "There's not a thing about you I don't like."
The silence that settled between you, you running your eyes over his features, your heart pounding, him not knowing if it would be a good idea to approach you, or if you needed space at that moment, waiting with his breath caught in his throat, not knowing if his feelings were reciprocated or not. You raised one of your hands, rubbing your forehead, unsure of how to interact after his confession. You decided to clear your throat and let the words flow, after all, even if you made a fool of yourself, it couldn't get any worse.
"Me too" you paused, still hearing your heart thudding in your chest, and then continued, "I have a crush, I mean. On you, yeah."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah" you confirmed, more at ease, moving closer to him.
Chris took the initiative and intertwined one of his hands with one of yours, looking at you softly and warmly, his smile provoking the same reactions from you as before, but now with the reassurance of knowing you weren't the only one who felt this way.
"What do you recommend from the bakery then?" he asked, taking you by the waist to continue walking beside you, both of you embracing each other.
And before you even answered you knew you would buy anything he asked for, even if you didn't like it, even if he didn't verbalize his desire to buy it. Only because you were as head over heels for him, as he was for you.

HI! I really like your writing style! It's my first time requesting so if it's okay, can I request a Lookism x reader where the reader and the boys (maybe girls too) are in high school. Like what would their typical school day look like? Maybe their mornings or when they do their homework together. I'm mostly interested how the 0th and 1st generation would do. Thank you!!!
Lookism Men (Gen 0 and 1) x Gender Neutral Reader! (Highschool AU)

Hi! I'm really sorry for the late reply (been recharging my energy lately). I'll focus more on the Gen. zero and First Generation! I'll probably make a second part for the Second Generation. Warnings: slight cursing and mentions of perverted parts (not too explicit, y'know typical teenagers?)

𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐙𝐞𝐫𝐨 (𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐬) "𝐆𝐚𝐩𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐢𝐦'𝐬 𝐅𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐆𝐚𝐧𝐠"

They're the really popular guys in your academy. They have the looks. That charismatic face, that fierce yet soft eyes, that slick and soft hair, their eye-catching fashion sense, literally everything.
Gapryong Kim is mostly popular with the popular and sassy girls. The other students thought that he's too intimidating for them. And the shy and soft girls are mostly crushing on Jinyoung. See the difference?
And there's a bit of a difference on their personalities too and how they treat women. Gapryong is a flirty type of guy, mostly confident about his popularity on his classmates (he's the type to pin you on your locker if he knows that you like him 💀✋). But Gapryong wouldn't push someone's limits though, if the girl feels uncomfortable about it then he'll genuinely stop. Gapryong may be sometimes competitive when it comes to playing sports since he's an athlete, but he has not only the physical feats but also the leadership skills which makes his fellow teammates look up to him.
Jinyoung on the other hand is a different type of book to read. Not only he is like a prince who popped out on a fairy tale but he's also super sweet and generously helpful to not only his female classmates but also to the men who gets a bit jealous on him too. He's also a fellow athlete and he mostly helps Gapryong in taking the lead to win the games. He's like the second leader and action taker if that makes sense.
But there's one attribute that they always share though. Despite their differences, they are willing to help others who are in need whether it's about the homeworks and lessons that they can't catch up with or whether it's about personal reasons. You may think that you're out of their league but trust me, they're actually nice and fun to hang out with. So take your chance 😉. Studying, eating on food stalls, playing athletic games, karaoke bars, literally anything is fun with them (imagine having a love triangle with them lol HLAK:DL:K).

Oh, do I even need to start 💀✋.
He's literally the teacher's pet. And don't mess with him because he's crazy smart too (he may even compete with Einstein no shit 😭🗿).
Probably the top-notcher in the class (competing with Gapryong and Jinyoung). If you asked me, he'll be super focused on his academics and he wouldn't really care about his love life. He's fine with unpopularity with the girls, even enjoying it since he can focus on his studies without being disturbed on his study sessions. He'll be SUPER COMPETITIVE about it too, taking it to the next level. Whether it's recitations, performance tasks, the daily and quarter exams, homeworks, seat works, projects, he'll make sure he's number one and no one else would be able to take his place (even his friends which can be a turn off for them). He'll also be the type to cancel plans just for his academics making his gang of friends disappointed at times... But he thinks that having bit of fun at times is no problem so there will be times where he will hang out in food stalls with the group. Though he prefers hanging out in his place or in school.
Most of the students are super intimidated by him. He'll be the type to argue with the teacher when he notices his classmates score higher than him on essays... (The man won't catch a break 🙄). So the moment the teacher gave the exam papers all of his classmates would hide their test papers on their backpacks to avoid HIS confrontation like "What's your score? Let me see." (except for Gapryong, Jinyoung and Tom though lol).
Play mind or board games with him like chess, Uno cards, Poker, or Rubik's cubes. He'll probably have a fun time with you 🤷 (he's so hard to approach omfg).

Many students are also afraid of him, but he's actually SUPER FUN to hang out with (just don't piss him off or he's literally going to shit on your face 💀).
Kind of known as the class clown. He's going to prank every student there and he's the reason why Jinyoung and Elite, who's known for their quietness go to their "lmao" phase. He'll also sniff the chalk dust when he's bored (trust me, I saw the guys on my class do this lol). He's also the type to cuss a lot and raise his middle finger (especially to Gapryong, cussing Tom back) when there's no teacher in the class for fun but when there's a lesson he'll go from 👺😈🖕 → 😊🌸✨ (It's kind of funny to watch tbh). He'll also be the type to appear "dumb" to the other students but he's decently smart (along with his stock knowledge, remember he doesn't really study in the quarterly exams 🤷). He just don't want to be overly involved in academics as much as Charles since he doesn't want to pressure himself. Also the type to laugh at exams with Gapryong (even with Jinyoung and Charles when they make eye contact) because he knows he's going to fail for the first try and take a remedial test 😭🗿.
Him and Gapryong are also very close to each other (because they can be the dumbasses of the group). He's also the type to pass shitty projects to the teacher since he mostly doesn't care about his studies. If it weren't for his friends he'll be absent the whole year 💀✋.
Also the type to ask you out (as homies) every time but also depends on you to pay for the food 💀✋ (good luck to the people who's trying to save money). He's also the type to ask random people for coins for his snacks even though he has ton shit of money 😭🗿💀✋. He may appear as a fake ass friend but he'll try to share the bills, promise.
Goofy (speaking of Goo) af. But remember everybody has a dark side so just don't piss him off and you're in good terms with him (Tom is not the type to be easily offended but don't be a snitch or he'll expose your darkest secrets). He'll also beat someone's ass along with his friends if they tried to mess with you (respect). Karaoke nights and sleepovers with him is so chaotic lmao. He's a menace.

The one man circle himself. *Sigh* where do I start.
Also like Charles. He's the valedictorian of the class. Whether it's Mathematics, English, Music & Arts, Korean, Physical Education, or literally any subject he'll be stealing awards and medals like it's the First Gen. Kings' body parts 😭💀✋ oops I think I went too far there.
Probably a snitch like Charles. Don't even try to befriend him and tell your secrets since the moment a beef between the two of you happens he'll be blackmailing you girl 😭. (They might be secretly besties. Who knows he's a mysterious mf).
Also doesn't care about his love life. But if he finds a girl or anybody interesting he may ask him out or flirt with them. But in terms of forming a mature relationship with him I don't think it's going to work (sorry fan girls).
Very popular with women. Do I even need to explain? (Also talk about games, music or arts with him he might appreciate the conversation and actually approach you first after 😉).

⤷𝐓𝐚𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐨 𝐌𝐚, 𝐉𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐰𝐚𝐤, & 𝐒𝐞𝐨𝐤𝐝𝐮 𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐠
The quiet kids in the class 💀.
The type of guys to gather on the back of the class to smoke weed at first but they're actually really nice. They're just really disciplined students.
They're also probably one of the smartest and brightest students in your class. They might not be in James' level, but that doesn't mean they're less. They're willing to help you out in your studies and homeworks if you're in trouble like solving mathematic algebraic expressions. Also a really good listener and actually gives helpful advices when you're down 🖤✨🥀🙏 .
Hanging out with them are also, really unexpectedly fun? Which is kind of shocking for the others since they are mostly known as introverts. But trust me, the moment they warm up to you they are actually dumbasses at times 😭. Studying, going on the mall, sleepovers, mind or board games, and talking about philosophic topics is fun for them.
Not really the type of guys to start a fight first, but the moment someone pisses them off they would fight back. Especially when someone tries to make you upset (in an intentional way).

⤷𝐆𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐬𝐞𝐨𝐛 𝐉𝐢
The annoying loud kid in class with a mixture of a class clown. Trust me he'll be the type to remind the teacher that there's a homework just to piss of everybody 💀✋ .
Perverted mf who often says d and p words 💀✋.
He thought he's popular with women but is actually pissing them off at times 💀✋ (he's not like a total creep though, he knows boundaries).
Not that smart but is actually a hard working student that's why he's included in the honors list. You may learn from him by being goal-oriented 🖤✨. Studying with him won't be too serious though since he's going to laugh at your face for no reasons 😭🙏.
Karaoke nights with him will be a disaster since he's out of tune when he's drunk. And also the type to start street fights so better be careful when you're with him at times 🙏. (He's still a green flag at times like listening to your problems when you're down and helping you out even when he's also stressed though, he's an 8.5/10 for me).

im literally so stressed out
the end of my school semester is in 3 weeks, i have 5 projects due by then and a math exam the same week they're due. i have to do like 3 science projects and research sacagawea for history, and my english project on muslim representation.
i have about 35 chapters left of math to finish reviewing in 3 weeks and it's so hard to juggle everything because on top of that our homework has been piled up so high i'm done working by 6 pm, take a 30 minute break, and study and do projects until 9.
i can't fcking do it anymore. my family isn't any help either because they just put more pressure on me to do more. "you're not done with your homework yet? why did you go so slow?" "you got a 96 on that math test? where's the 100?"
then i say how i feel and what do they tell me? "just don't be stressed." OH YEAH THAT'S REAL HELPFUL THANKS
im literally not allowed to say "i hate school" because i get a whole hour long lecture about how "good students never say things like that" and "you should be grateful for your good grades."
THAT. DOESN'T. HELP.
im literally crying right now because there's so much to do, and my parents' pressure's on my shoulders, and i can't even go to my sister either because she just tells me, "i'm stressed too."
I GET THAT SHE HAS HER OWN LIFE BUT I CAN'T DO IT. I REALLY CAN'T.
anyway most of you probably didn't want to read through all of that so sorry, i needed to let that out. keep scrolling if you want.

you know that scene from the simpsons where bart breaks down to miss krabappel cause he failed a test but this time he tried?
for some reason that reminds a lot of what james would be like as student, especially in the middle years of hogwarts.
i imagine james in the earlier years as one of those kids who never paid attention in class properly, always did homework last minute and never revised but always managed to pass. passed every test, handed their homework in somewhat on time. but he never did amazing. in the first three years of hogwarts, he was never near the top of the class. if anything, he was close to the bottom.
all in all, he scrapped by and was fine with it. the grades never bothered him and he never tried to change it.
but then work got harder, and there was more pressure and expectations to do well and all his friends were getting better, getting praise and recognition. they were getting well above passing grades, never failing exams and had something to be proud of... and james was still scrapping by. a mark or two above failing, going as far as to being made to resit exams and essays and projects cause it's fifth year and exams are around the corner and he wasn't getting it.
so he gets put in private study sessions with mcgonagall, or otherwise he'd have to get pulled out of quidditch. that was mcgonagall's compromise. cause she believed him enough to help, something no other teacher did. he was basically failing all classes cause he wasn't trying.
and due to the threat on his place on the team, he actually started trying. he spent all his free time in the library, stopped putting all his focus on pranks, even convinced remus to help him study. he did everything he needed to do for it, spending every waking hour thinking about it. put extra effort into all his other subjects and homework. he participated in class, did the tasks done and went to every study sessions with mcgonagall.
and then when the next exam rolled around in mcginagall's class, he put his all into it. worked from the very first second and to the very last... and failed. full on failed. didn't even get a passing grade.
and i just imagine have this converstion being like...
m: 'i thought things would different this time,'
j: 'same...'
m: 'what went wrong?'
j: 'i don't know, i thought i was doing good'
m: ‘me too, this tell me otherwise’
j: ‘i tried’
m: ‘did you though james, have you been trying without me’
j: *crying* ‘yes! i have, i really tried this time mcgonagall, i really did! i read every book and spent all my time studying and did everything i needed to do! i really tried, you need to believe me, i need you to believe me, you can ask my friends will vouch for me, i did try! i want to do better, i tried so hard this time i swear!’
and this fail was the first fail which hurt because he really did try. this was the fail which got him to try harder in the later years of Hogwarts.
i just think about that scene a lot. cause i feel like James is a very smart person, but just isn’t an academic person. not at the beginning at least…

[ Genshin Impact Modern Highschool AU ]:
Yandere Mika
Content warning(s): Yandere behaviour, stalking, nosebleeds (Please let me know if I've missed anything!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yandere Mika, who is your cute and shy classmate in highschool. At first glance, he's the kind to work super hard in his studies, do all the homework, all for achieving his dream of becoming a cartographer.
Yandere Mika, who in reality, actually mostly daydreams and obsesses about his crush (you, of course) during class. He might look like he's listening to the teacher intently, but really, his thoughts are only filled with you ♡ !
Yandere Mika, who only goes back home to catch up on his studies and finish assignments because all of his time in school is spent with you in his head. Despite everything, he still manages to get top 5 in class! (Obviously, because he's also working hard to impress you ♡ !!)
Yandere Mika, who purposely sits further behind you in class so it's easier for him to stare at you, while you don't notice. Sometimes you turn your head back a little, and he quickly scrambles back to making little notes and doodles of you in the corner of his book, all while a huge blush is on his face.
Yandere Mika, who is generally awkward and shy when talking to regular people, but literally crashes into a Windows blue screen error when having the chance to converse with you. Stuttering isn't a thing anymore, it's either straight up gibberish or his mind instantly goes blank. God forbid you managed to get paired with him in a group project! He will die a happy death right then and there.
Bonus points if you smile or say something nice to him, or even give a complement. He would actually faint on the spot. His friends even considered carrying a defibrillator next time just in case. There have been way too many trips to the infirmary.
Yandere Mika, who eventually, through hard work, physical effort not to faint, and practices in front of the mirror, is finally able to hold a somewhat normal conversation with you, much to his delight. (Though it's barely cohesive, given how much he's still stuttering)
Yandere Mika, who often daydreams about you two in all sorts of scenarios. Sometimes (a lot of times), these daydreams get a little out of hand, and he gets so flustered he nosebleeds. It's such a common occurrence, just because he was...thinking...maybe about your wedding day...?!
Yandere Mika, who constantly has a tissue stuffed in his nostril, almost completely drenched in blood. He carries a whole box of tissues in his bag for his nosebleeds. At this point, he's a tissue paper expert, who knows the brands that absorb blood the best.
Please don't give him attention or concerns if you see blood dripping down his chin. Even a simple “Are you okay?” with that adorable voice of yours is enough to make his brain go haywire and worsen his nosebleed.
Yandere Mika, who has a part of his mind that's completely lucid and keeps telling him that the stuff he thinks and daydreams about you is creepy and wrong, and he desperately tried to think about other things like exams or club activities.
As you can tell, it's not very effective, because he is 100% head over heels for you, and you live inside his head rent free, no mortgage.
Yandere Mika, who obviously stalks you all the damn time. He has drawn tons of maps, all marked with the routes you take back home, to that cafe you frequent, to the park, literally anywhere, in red pen, all pinned on the corkboard in his room.
Yandere Mika, who even mapped out the whole layout of your house, giving extra detail to your room (don't ask how he got in there). In fact, he's memorized every little thing in your room to a T, from the fluff of your pillow to the clothes in your closet.
By the way, don't mind the tiny blood stain on your carpet. It's totally not because Mika was nosebleeding while letting his thoughts run wild by accident.
Yandere Mika, who has piles and piles of notebooks filled with documented conversations you've had with others, all to figure out your hobbies, likes, dislikes etc. without actually having to talk to you (in case he faints again). What a caring future boyfriend, understanding you so well ♡ !!
Yandere Mika, whose notebooks also contain biographies of info about you, rewritten over and over again. That's what he's actually writing, while you think he's simply writing study notes. If finals required him to write a 5000 word essay about you, he's absolutely acing it.
All of those notebooks are kept in a dedicated bookshelf in his room. He prays to the Archons that you don't ever visit his house, so you don't get creeped out by it and never talk to him again. His heart would break into a million pieces :(
Yandere Mika, who loves you very, very, very much!

Ink on Wrists || Harry Potter X F!Reader
Summary: You find out who your soulmate is on your 16th birthday. When the time comes, you have mixed bittersweet emotions. Malfoy!Reader
Genre: Soulmate au, fluff
Warnings: Slight swearing
---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---
The world is as bizarre as it is fascinating.
How bizarre that from birth till death, the world orders that we find our "other half". How fascinating that we, who are made of celestial stars and galactic dust, obey it's command.
How bizarre that, although the world consistes of billions of beings, everyone finds their fated pair. How fascinating that, somehow, on one's 16th birthday, they would learn the name of their fated without fail. How bizarre. How fascinating.
---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---
It was safe to say that the idea of soulmates irked me. I refuse to allow love to be belittled to a name on someone's wrist. Strange, huh? The word "love" rolling off a Malfoy's tongue in a positive light. Well, "love" is something that I hold great importance to and it's not going to be someone that I've been assigned to like a group project.
"Morning, 'Mione!" Another thing that separates me from the Malfoy name - having a close relationship with a "mudblood".
"Good morning, Y/N! How were your lessons this morning?" Hermione Granger had become one of my best friends after a Potions project back in first year. She was my escape from my uptight, "cold" Slytherin persona. In her presence, I was loud and rambunctious, a freedom I was never afforded as a Malfoy.
We spoke about the day's events, her most recent muggle book that she was reading, my 5 arguments with Draco and everything in between.
"Oh, I completely forgot. It's your 16th birthday soon. Excited to learn your soulmate's name?"
"Hermione, when have I ever wanted to know their name?" I grumbled at her remark. My birthday was getting frighteningly close and I wasn't one bit excited.
"Oh c'mon Y/N. I know you don't--"
"Hey, 'Mione! We've been looking for you everywhere." She was abruptly cut off by Ronald Weasley shrieking across the field. As he jogged closer, Harry Potter at his heels, his face adorned a heavy scorn. "And you're with Malfoy."
"What do you want, Ron?" She said, squeezing my hand.
Although I was quite close with Hermione, I was not at all close with the other two Golden Trio members. Harry Potter and I had been on good terms for a while before he abruptly decided he wanted nothing to do with me for whatever reason. Now, he mainly just ignored me and I ignored him. On the other hand, Ron disliked, no, despised me. I didn't understand why. My brother may have bullied him and his friends but I never spoke ill of him, not even in private. Yet, he hated me.
Weasley sneered at me before turning to Hermione.
"Me and Harry need help on some homework."
"Harry and I, Ron. Harry and I." Hermione sighed. "When's it due?"
Ron and Harry instantly looked towards one another, almost urging the other to speak.
"It's due tomorrow, isn't it?" Shaking her head, she grapped her bag and stood up.
Hermione looked so tired and stressed. After all, she had spent a good portion of the week perfecting her Charms homework and studying for the upcoming exams. Seeing her looking so grim sparked some determination in me.
"Um, I don't mind helping." They all whipped their heads towards me, wide-eyed and mouths agape.
"Y/N, you really don't have to."
"Yh, we don't need your help."
  ---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---
Here I was, in the Griffindor Common Room, sat between Harry Potter and Hermione Granger working on Herbology. It was by far the most awkward experience. Hermione was trying her best to just get the work done, Harry was deathly silent and Ron was shooting snide remarks at me every few seconds. To say I regretted my offer was an understatement.
Not soon enough, we were done and I began packing my things before two determined idiots made their way towards me, Cheshire grins adorning both their faces.
"Where'd you think you're going, Malfoy?"
"To bed. How may I help you, Weasley?"
"It's far too early for bed, don't you think so George?"
"I do, Fred. Why doesn't Malfoy join us for a game before she gets going?"
I rolled my eyes at their shenanigans and tried sliding past them only to be pulled back. I lost my footing and braced for impact but the hard, cold ground never embraced me. Instead, I was whisked into the warmest arms, my head resting on a sturdy chest. I instantly pushed the person away and thanked them profusely.
"No worries." Harry coughed, his face burning red.
"Don't try running away, little mouse. Join us for a game of truth or dare." Ugh, those two were so annoying.
  ---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---
So here I was, still in the Griffindor Common Room, playing truth or dare with people that I barely knew - some who looked ready to bite my head off.
The game went on for quite a while, some snogging here and there, before it was Ron's turn.
I wasn't paying much attention since I was here against my will and mostly likely would have remained day dreaming if Hermione wasn't next to me. Ron had picked dare which had ended up being "kiss the prettiest person in the room". Unfortunately, Hermione fancied Ron and even more unfortunately so, Ron didn't seem to reciprocate those feelings. So, Hermione was forced to watch as Ron made his way towards some Ravenclaw girl and the two locked lips.
Hermione looked devastated. Words didn't flow out of me like they did Hermione so all I could to provide her any comfort was to pull her in a little closer and hide her away from the scene. Stupid boys.
A few more dares later, it was my turn and when it was, everyone stared at me intensely.
"Y/N, truth or dare?" Asked George.
"Truth." A few people grumbled and rolled their eyes before Fred shut them up with his question.
"Your 16th birthday's the day after tomorrow. Who'd you hope your soulmate is?" He smirked at George, a mischievous twinkle glimmering in their eyes as I instantly blushed.
Those two were well aware about my slight crush on a certain someone. Just a small one. So small that I hadn't even informed Hermione of it. Nevertheless, the two used every opportunity to tease me about it after they had accidentally overheard me talking to myself. Now, because these two just loved seeing me blushing and mumbling, obviously embarrassed, I would have to out that small crush infront of strangers. Wonderful.
I spared a glance at Harry before reaching for the truth serum. He was redder than the Griffindor jumper that he adorned and kept adjusting the fabric around his wrist. Weird.
Just as I reached for the truth serum, a frightened first year came rushing in begging to see me.
"Miss Malfoy, um y-your brother is w-waiting outside." The poor boy looked ready to collapse but, great, I could get out of here and get out of embarrassing myself. I bid a quick farewell to everyone, grabbed my things and nearly ran out of there.
"What the hell were you doing in there?" Draco barked, a distinct frown on his face.
"Don't ask, please. I'm regretting life as is."
  ---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---
The night came where shiny gold letters would be inscribed onto my wrist, telling me of my fate. I wanted to not care so badly and tried so hard to just sleep since everyone would be pestering me tomorrow. But, the harder I tried, the more I struggled to drift off.
I was just about to fall asleep when I felt a slight burn crawling down my arm. Guess it was time. I sat up and took a deep breath before setting my stare on my wrist.
Painstakingly slow, the letters began gliding onto my skin. H then A then R R and oh no, is this actually happening? When the final dazzling R was written, I was absolutely furious. That bloody cow had known this entire time that I was his soulmate and what had he done with that information? He ignored me.
Was I that undesirable to him? So undesirable that upon finding out it was me who he was going to be stuck with for the rest of this stupid life, he went out of his way to stay away from me. Well, fuck him. It's not like I wanted any of this either.
That night, I went to bed with a heavy heart and angry sorrow cascading down my face. Guess it wasn't a slight crush and I guess I did in fact care about who my soulmate was. Sorry 'Mione.
  ---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---
"How can she be so pretty this early in the morning?"
"She's a Malfoy. What'd you expect?"
"It's her birthday today, right? Wonder who her soulmate is?"
"Probably some rich, pure-blood Slytherin."
"You seem to be the topic of conversation, once again. The perfect Malfoy." Draco sneered at Blaise's remark.
"She's anything but perfect. All these idiots know nothing. Anyway, you still haven't told me, who's your soulmate?"
"Do I need to?" Pushing my hair back, I sat down and reached for an apple. Everyone around me looked absolutely shocked, mortified even. Draco grabbed the apple from my hands and bit into it.
"Obviously. I told everyone mine so why would you not? Wait, don't tell me it's some ugly Griffindor?"
"No, it's not. Listen, I'll tell you guys. Just not yet." The entire table began moaning and pestering me. Pansy even tried to grab my wrist and wrip off the fabric covering it. Rolling my eyes at her antics, I got up and set out for my first class.
  ---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---♡---
For some reason, I saw more of Harry Potter than ever before. I saw him in the hallways on the way to classes, during some of my classes, during lunch and even in the library after lessons were over. That little rat was everywhere now. Each time we crossed paths, he would bore his eyes into my soul, almost provoking me to confront him and each time, I would glare at him, reminding him that this was his doing. If he wanted to say something, he'd have to come forward first. I too could play his bloody game.
After the day was over, all my friends had gathered outside for a small birthday party. It was more like a picnic if anything but I had an enjoyable time nonetheless. Firewhiskey had of course been snuck in and so, by the end of the night, everyone's faces were tinted red and pink. I hated the taste, thus stayed away from any drinking. Whilst everyone was eating and acting like idiots, I slipped away amid the chaos. I decided to go for a short walk to clear my head and forget all about Harry and soulmates and just focus on how pretty the night was.
I found a bench and sat down to admire the gorgeous moon and twinkling stars. Everything seemed so perfect up there. Beauty all around and the silent cacophony to lull you to slumber. What an easy life we had as galactic dust shimmering between planets and stars, and yet we forgoed such content for these dull adventures of misery and despair.
Just as I was beginning to nod off to the night's opera, a familiar scent invaded my senses and a familiar deep red colour made its way into view. Stood infront of me was Harry fucking Potter, hands playing with lose threads and eyes looking everywhere but at mine.
"Can I help you, Potter?" I spat, venom lacing every word. He finally looked at me and I couldn't help but think how absolutely gorgeous he looked with the moon's glimmer outlining his physique. Sucking in a breath, I looked over his messy hair, soft lips and sturdy chest, letting my eyes rest on his gentle blue ones. He looked ethereal. Wait, what was I thinking?
"Y/N, I know you're pissed right now but please just hear me out, ok?" He sucked in a breath, half-lidded eyes looking down at me with the softest expression. So this is what having a soulmate was like.
"Harry, look I really don't want to have to deal with your stupidity on my birthday. I get it, you didn't want me as ur soulmate--" Panicking, he tried to cut me off but I refused to falter. "What was her name, Cho? Cho Chang? I get that your into her and I'm not planning on you know, ruining that for you."
"Y/N, that's not--"
"Let me finish. I won't do anything but, whilst I hate to admit it, it was upsetting to basically be told that you don't want me and that I'm not good enough, you know? It would have been nice had you come forward and said something earlier."
"That's what I'm trying to explain here. I'm not rejecting you by any means. I just...you don't understand it yet since you just got your mark, but every time I came near you, this tingly sensation would come over me and...and just being around you took my breathe away." With every word he said, he inched closer. I could barely believe my ears, my mouth agape and eyes wide.
"I fancied you before all this, but once I found out you were mine by fate, my feelings just increased tenfold." He sighed. "I don't know where I'm going with all this but I wanted you to know about how I felt. I didn't want you thinking I hated being your soulmate."
Once that last word had slipped past his lips, he shot me a shy smile. Harry's cheeks were tinted a quiet pink and his eyes sparkled mischievously. At this point, my heart had ceased its relentless patter in favour of just not working at all. My breath had left me with just my thoughts and Harry's words tingling down my spine.
Without a second thought, I shot up off the bench and clashed my lips against his in a messy kiss. Nevertheless, it was perfect. I felt his arms move around me and pull me into the sweetest embrace. He tasted of cinnamon and hot cocoa whilst the scent of firewood burnt my senses. I could remain here for all eternity, I had thought.
Separating, our foreheads leaned against one another.
"So...uh...are we okay now?" I giggled.
"You wish. If you want to fully make it up to me, you're going to have to take me out on a date."
"I think I can do that."
He sat down on the bench, pulling me down onto his lap. As his chin rested on my head, I glanced once more at the serenading sky.
"Thank you." I whispered to fate and turned back to destiny's gift for me. Maybe soulmates weren't all that bad. Sorry 'Mione.

Hey, do you have any tips to regularly motivate yourself to study?
I often get overwhelmed by the homework and forget about the textbook readings and preparation.
Hi anon,
sorry for taking so long to answer and thanks for the question.
1) get a study buddy. find a person with similar academic goals to you even if you don't study the same thing and set a time and a place regularly, were you just go to actually study and hold eachother accountable. my friend and I meet every saturday and go to the library or a study cafe for five hours. we are different majors so we can't really help one another but it's about accountability.
2) habits, routines >> motivation. I am the biggest procrastinator and motivation doesn't work for me. I have created systems that force me to study. Like the study friend or going to a study group meeting, going to the library after class without going home in between cause if I go home I now I'm just going to watch tv and not study at all. you can also try virtual study groups if it's more accessible to you although I've never tried with strangers before.
3) plan everything. plan ahead from the moment you get the syllable as far as you can. organize time for smaller tasks every day or every other day if you can. make the schedule as realistic and as flexible as you can.
4) a little bit every day. textbook readings don't usually get done cause a.our asses are on fire from hw b. they don't have a deadline c. are huge . So break it down in smaller chunks. let's say you have to get through 800 pages. from the stem prospective I try to skim through 10 to 20 pages each time and get the general gist.
5) 5% is better than 0. even if you do nothing but read one page or solve one practice problem a day it's still something.
6) find old exams. if most of your classes have exams in the end and not projects lime mine, try to find as many older exam questions as possible. if the professor is the same they usually have a similar style of exams each year. this way you know what kind of exam you are studying for and can focus on the material that actually matters so you don't get overwhelmed as much.
7) make friends with upperclassmen. they've been already through this and usually have pretty good advice and tricks. I like to bribe them with coffee or food and they'll even give you the work they've done for the class before, this way you get a better understanding of what you have to do for the class. they are also a good motivation or reminder cause they are the proof that you can pass this class.
8) it's going to be ok. school and uni suck sometimes but you can get through it. if it gets too overwhelming academically see if you have the option for a tutor or sth similar and don't be too proud to ask for help, we've all been there.
Hope this helps!!! If anyone has more questions my dms and asks are open!!!

"hey baby.. can i hug you? is it okay?"
he would hug you and never let go of you until you're ready to do it so (like he do with the stars :( he's so sweet)
he would do circles on your back and on your hair to calm you
"talk whenever you want, baby.. i'll be here until you're okay, i promise. i won't go anyhwere, im here"

"you're tired of studying? oooh... my love.."
he would hug you tigher
"baby, it's okay.. i totally understand how you might feel right now. school studies are so not easy and i'm so sorry that they break you apart like this. "
oli would take your hands and hold it (if you're comfortable, ofc!!) until the conversation is finished
he would rub circles on it
and make you breathe in and breathe out to calm you and to make you know he's here to listen
"you are so strong, my baby. you are one of the strongest girl i have met in my life. first, being my mom, but you're the second. you are so strong and so hardworking. you're so smart. you're so you and.. that's what i love about you"
"you don't have to fake being happy or to hide your true self. i love you for you. and if you want to cry more, you can. it's okay. it prove how strong you have been"
he would try to comfort you with your bad grade
"your grade are just random numbers.. it's like the numbers of the like i have on my instagram posts! they don't define me or the content i make. they don't describe how i am in real life. so like your grade, they don't define yourself or how you are in your life. they don't describe your level of smartness and do not mean anything bad about you. they are just numbers, my love. they don't describe you or make you like the *grade* you have. "
he just want you to know he's here for you, okay?
"if you want to, me and the boys could help you study? i know the boys would be totally down with this. they love you and if it mean that they can spend more time with you, they would love to."
"you got this, my love. i love you so so much. you did your best and that's the most important here. i'm proud of you and of your work on that project / session / exam / essay. you did your best and that's enough."

sebastian moy
we know seb
he loves the stars
he's always saying that the stars are so important to him and that he love them very very much, so i think seb would have the same behavior towards you? (i mean, yes ofc lol)
i can see seb going in his room after a meeting
when he would come, he would be like
"hey baby, princess!! i missed you!"
without seeing any smile or reactions, he would come closer to his bed and talk softer
"baby? are you okay?"
you quickly nodded your head and sighed
"wait, baby! are you crying?"
seb would be so sad that you didn't told him how you were feeling
he know it's not easy to talk about your emotions and feelings, on how difficult is it to talk about how you might be feeling, he totally understand these kind of things
so of course, he'll listen to you and take care of you
"baby... what happened? did something happened during my meeting?"
if he would have known, this boy wouldn't have gone to his meeting :(
he love you so so much
and he would everything he can to see the precious smile on your face
"studies? roooh baby, i'm so sorry. i know it's hard. i truly do"
he would make circles on your back to calm you and to make you know he's here to help you
"it's okay, baby, i'm here! you're safe, everything will be okay"
he would kiss you on the forehead and play with your fingers
"do you want to talk more about it?"
if you do, he'll listen to you and he will as much as he can to make you smile again
"grades are just numbers. they doesn't define you or your intelligence or even anything about you!"
he would try to crack jokes to make you smile or at least to make you think about something else for a few seconds
he would hug you
and give you yoobi (his pingouin lol) so you could play with him
seb is just a sweet man
so ofc, he would kiss your tear away, hug you and do circles on your back :(
he would even sing to you
and he would buy you bobba so you can feel a bit better

ryan nguyen
ryan had a pretty good day!
he filmed something for the nsb's chanel, worked on some songs for their mini-albums (presave panic!!!) and drank some bubble tea that seb bought for them :(
so when he came back home with a big smile on his face, of course, he wanted to tell you what happened today
but when he saw you in the kitchen, crying in front of your homeworks and the last exam you got.. his smile quickly faded
"you good, baby?"
just the lack of your answer made him think that something was happening
"hey, y/n, look at me.. what happened?"
his poor heart :(
his heart always break when he see you like this
he would do anything to take your sadness away :(
"what happened to you, baby?"
he would put his fingers and indez on your cheek and massage it softly to make you know he's here
even if the boys were there, he didn't care.
"the boys can wait, cutie.. you're crying and i'm worried for you.."
not that he doesn't care about them, buttttt
i feel ryan would stay with you until you're 100% okay before leaving you and do his stuff or whatever
he have to film something for his youtube channel? that can wait. (i hope you guys understand what i'm trying to say)
he just want you to know that he's here for you
always.
when he saw your grades, he looked at you and brushed your hair out of your face and started talking softly while tearing your tears away with his fingers
"babe... is that why you're feeling this way?"
ryan nguyen is really gentle with his words
you're feeling down? he would try to find the pefect words to help you
in the outside, ryan look like he wouldn't care or anything, but when we get to know him, we can clearly see how nice and caring he is
when you nodded, his heart broke into a millions pieces
"oh my god, baby... i'm so sorry it happened.."
he would hug you for sure
ryan nguyen? hugging you? what? who is that? how?
we know it, ryan is not the hugger of the groups. he doesn't like physical attention too much, but when it comes to you??? he's all needy and clingy and all
he would make you know that it's okay to fail, that it's normal and that you're so strong
"you're already making progress by showing me how the grade is affecting you. if it wouldn't, you wouldn't be crying over it"
"you're so strong. i knew you studied like hell for this exam and i'm sorry you didn't got the grade you deserved, but trust me, baby.. you'll do better next time! i promise. i believe in you"
he would kiss your tear away :(
"me and the boys are proud of you and your performance. you did your best and that's the most important. we can't judge you or make you think you did bad! you did your best and that's the most important thing, okay?"
he would hug you and listen to you for hours if you need it
he would call the boys to make something for the both of us during dinner time if you're not done talking about it
he doesn't care that you talk about it for 4 hours straight or something. he only want you to smile to be happy and if it can make you feel better, he'll do it anytime
he told you: he's here for the good and the bad times.
he will always be here for you <3

justin phan
justin was helping you study and was trying to make you laugh during these though hours
but he couldn't help it but worry for you
"hey, are you okay?"
you quickly nodded and went back to studying while he took your hands and interlaced his fingers with yours
"are you okay?"
"you already ask me, justin"
"but now, i want the real answer"
justin knew you
he knew something was up
"the boys aren't here. you can let your emotions and feeling out if you want to"
quickly, you started to have tears forming in your eyes
that literally broke justin's heart
he hated seeing you like this
crying and being upset
he thought you deserve everything!!
and he was sad, because he just couldn't making you stop crying like this
"sweetie. it's okay, i'm here, i'm here"
justin would hug you in his arm
and he wouldn't even move
not until you're ready
when you would explain everything to him, he would be so sad that you think you're not good enough
"baby.. y/n, i'm so sorry"
he would caress your hair and your back with his fingers
he would kiss you on top of your head
jp would also hum you to, maybe, calm you down or something like that
"y/n, my pretty girl, it's okay to cry and to feel upset. you have the right to be upset"
"i'm sorry. i know you studied hard for this and it hurt me to see you didn't get the grade you deserved to have"
justin is so not afraid to talk to people when it comes to you
"d'you want me to talk to your teacher to say how hard you worked on this one? because i know you did. it's unfair that all your amazing and hard work only value this grade. plus, we did it together. we verified with the boys and everything seemed perfect. "
justin would be the type to comfort you during your breakdown
not saying the others wouldn't, but i think justin would be the most "comforting" one when it comes to school and all
idk he just give me this kind of vibe
finally, justin would study with you and let the boys help you if you want them to :(

kane ratan
if kane saw you upset or sad about something, he would be so sad??
he think kane could be the boy who feel sad because you feel a bit sad
kane is so sweet :(
so ratan was getting ready for his shower
he saw how concentrated and focused you were working and studying on the kitchen's table
he didn't want to ruin that
when he came back in the kitchen, he saw oliver talking softly to you and listening to you
"hey oli! hey y/n!!" he said while smiling
when you turned your face to him, his heart almost stopped beating
"y/n?? are you okay?? what happened??"
"that what i have been asking for the couple minutes. she said she didn't want to talk about it."
oliver quickly walked over, letting his place for kane's
"baby, y/n!! are you okay? did you hurt yourself?"
you quickly said no while avoiding your boyfriend's eyes
"y/n. please."
you quickly put your eyes in his
and you started crying even more :(
kane's heart was so sad at this moment
he wanted to take all of your negative emotions and all bad thoughts
he wanted you to feel happy and to be all smily :(
kane hugged you and did circles on your back to calm you down, letting you know there was no rush for telling him
after listening to your problems and insecurities, he kissed the top of your head and wiped the tears away
he would sing for you
and tell you how his life, how his future projects, about his fav anime characters and why he love them if you're into these kind of things
he would also caress the top of your hair
he just want you to think about something else for a while
he know bad grades aren't nice and fun to receive and to deal with
he would
"it's okay, babe. it's okay to fail. failing is one of the way to succeed in life. and the fact that you're crying right now, mean how much it's important for you to succeed and that you care about it. i promise, you're doing good, baby. and i know you probaly don't believe me, but i promise you that it's true."
he would do anything he can do to make you smile or change your ideas
"a grade doesn't define you. it's only numbers. like 1, 2, or 37. you're not a failure, because you failed. i know how much and hard you worked on that paper and it make me sad to see that your teacher couldn't see the efforts you made, the way i did"
he would also bring you food and do anime study sessions with you if you love animes
"one more chapter and we have one more anime episodes to watch!"
"let's go baby, you can do it. i believe in you"

darren liang
we know darren
even though he have a lot of energy, he can be calm and super quiet at times
so the boys were waiting for the pizza delivery guy since almost 20 minutes
they were kinda hungry lol
when the house bell rang in the house, the guys all got up and walked to the door
when darren opened the door, he didn't think he'd saw you tearing up in his hoodie :(
he thought it was the pizza delivery guy
he was so happy to finally have his pizza30 seconds ago
but now he's now sad and upset :(
who hurted his baby >:(
"did someone hurt you? i swear, im going to punch them"
he would hug you before you even go in the house and close the door
so you would be the two alone on the porch
he would caress your back and give you a side hug
"is everything doing okay for you?"
when you said no, his heart broke
"do you want to talk about it?"
while nodding, he asked you if you wanted to go in his room
he didn't want you to catch a cold :/
"let's go in my room first, okay? you'll be able to cuddle toasty and eat some good pizza. the guys ordered 3 pizza, so i'm sure we'll have enough for you."
you quickly nodded and took his hands while taking off your shoes and avoiding the other member's questions
"y/n, are you okay?"
"is she okay, darren?"
"what happened?"
"is eveything okay?"
"is y/n crying? oh no :("
"y/n, do you need something?"
darren looked at them and give them a thumbs up, meaning he was going to take care of you
"here baby, take this blanket, and go to my room. i'm just going to get you a glass of water and tissues. i'll be back soon, okay, my love?"
darren is so sweet
while explaining your problems, he made sure to understand everything and to make you know he was here to help you
"i'm so sorry to hear that, baby. i truly am"
he would give you pizza
i mean one of the boys would bring you some
lildarbear wouldn't leave you
"you can cry, y/n. it's okay. my sweather is made for you. i really don't mind."
he would caress your back by going up and down
"let it out, baby, let it out"
this boy would take care of you x100
doing selfcare with you to make you smile
SLEEPOVER WITH HIM OH MY GOD
he would tell you his darkest secrets and all
"you know what, baby? you did your best and that's what important"
he would keep a distance from you and the grades
i don't really know how to describe it, but he would do as much as he can to make you see how worth you are and how important you are to his eyes and to the boys'.
"you can vent to me"
finally, darren would create a plan of studying with you. he would do flashcards with you, random games to make you learn the things, he would even make the boys help and encourages you if it's something that would make you smile

regie macalino
we all know how funny regie is
and how hilarious he can be
but we also know how grateful and caring he is
he's also nonchalant
you guys were watching television with the boys
it was a movie night
you were on the same couch as regie
checking your phone almost every 10-15 minutes, you were not really paying to the movie
and regie knew it
"is everything okay? you're constantly watching your phone"
you quickly nodded while whispering back
"i'm just stressed about my grades. they should be out today, and i don't feel it"
regie gave you a kiss on the head and softly smiled
"you'll have an amazing grade, don't worry. you worked so hard on it."
you quickly nodded while putting your head agaisnt macalino's chest
he was probably right
finally the movie done, you quickly took your phone and refreshed the page where you could see your grades
your eyes dropped when you saw your grade
you thought you did good..
you started having tear in your eyes and the need to cry
you quickly let it go of regie's embrace and walked faster
"going to the bathroom"
it has been 10 minutes and you were still in the same room.
you couldn't believe it.
you studied so hard???
knocking on the door, you heard your boyfriend regie speaking
"baby? are you okay in there?"
you quickly calmed yourself and tried to sound like if you haven't been crying for the past 15 minutes
"yeah, i'm just tired."
but regie knew you
maybe someone would have believed you, but not him
he knew you
"can i come in? please?"
"i don't want you to see me like this"
you could hear regie sight
"i really don't mind, baby. i promise. please, open up. i don't want you to feel sad all alone."
you quickly opened the door and went back to his bathroom.
"hey"
"hey" you said while shighting
"what happened, my love? did the movie made you cry?"
you gave him your phone so he could see it himself
"is that the grade you were stressing over earlier?"
you nodded while trying your best to not cry again
"i'm so sorry, babe. you don't deserve that. you worked on it. you studied. i even studied with you. you deserved something better"
you nodded and hugged him
he caressed your back and strocked your hair
"cry all you want. i'm here."
he gave you on his hoodie and sighed
"ya teachers are fucking dumb"
he would try his best to make you laugh or smile, for sure
"i have a joke for you, y/n. why people don't play poker in the jungle?"
"too many cheetaths" (cheaters)
he would give you affirmations and encouragment!
"please, don't let a low grade definite you whatsoever. there is greatness in you. I know because you cared enough to cry about it and to tell me about it"
he would give you hugs
and give you candies he have in his room
"is everything going good at your home? do you need somehwere to study or to relax? you know this house is also your second, right? the door are always unlocked for you"
"stay positive, my baby. i know it's hard, please do it. i believe in you. i truly do. and your family too. and your friends, and the boys. we all believe in you."

Hey girl I'm about to have my first batch of finals this year what are your tips for surviving? I feel so confused on the best ways to prepare 😭😭 thanks 🙏
omg as a self proclaimed academic weapon whose current projected GPA range for the end of semester is 3.9 - 4.0 and who went to a college prep high school i feel like i have finals/midterms down to a science
I have some general finals steps and then some even more general advise where I expand on the tips below the cut. I got kind of carried away😭 pls let me know if you need me to expand on anything
Step 1. List out everything that's due (all projects, essays, and exams) in order of when they're do. If multiple things are due the same day, order them from the assignment you're least confident in to the assignment you're most confident in.
Step 2. Personalize your schedule. Half the battle of finals is a mental game bc it's easy to see all the things you have to do and freeze bc it feels like nothing's going to get done or that you'll be working every second of the day until finals end. If you break your assignments into blocks/chunks, you'll still be able to take small breaks and feel less overwhelmed.
So like if you have 3 essays and 2 tests within two to three days of each other, tell yourself you'll write 2 essays and study for one test on the first day or that you'll write one essay everyday and study on the last two days. If that makes sense lol.
this doesn't mean to over schedule your life!! i don't write out time stamps for every break, i just like to do assignments a day or two in advance so that I can take breaks if that makes sense.
Step 3. Do your projects/essays first. I've always been someone that likes doing projects before studying for tests. Because projects/essays are something that have tangible ends,, you'll feel a lot more productive/better getting those out of the way. The exception to this is if you have a big test coming that's before your essays/project, study first lol.
Step 4. Make study guides. Ik it's annoying, but you're more likely to study more if you have a cheat sheet you can just look over. More on this in general advise.
-- This is just general advice. ---
Tip 1. Study guides are life savers. It's one thing to have all of your notes, but typing/writing everything you need so that it's in one place makes it so much easier to take advantage of small moments. I do best on tests when I make my study guide in advanced and then just reread it a bunch the night before and then right before the test.
If it's a harder topic with more information and you think you need more time with the info, I still think a study guide is a great way to just have something that you can look at whenever you have a a few minutes. You're more likely to study more when you have something that you can just pull out and read a few times than if you just have miscellaneous notes you have to waste time looking for/gathering.
Tip 2. Plan/accept study breaks. Sometimes you just need to do something else. It feels like you're wasting time, but if you're super tired/overwhelmed, you're definitely not working efficiently, so if your body is telling you to walk around for a little or scroll on your phone for fifteen minutes or do something else to mentally get away, accept it.
Tip 3. Don't fall for the 11:59 trap. This might just be bc I'm a night person so I do a lot of homework late at night, but I think knowing something is due at midnight adds some extra stress. It makes it harder to take breaks and gets more overwhelming bc the deadline is right there.
I like to make the day before the 11:59 deadline my personal deadline. Ofc there are exceptions to this, like if the assignment is smaller,, like a discussion post or just answering some homework questions, and you know it won't take up your entire day and you'll have time, it's okay to leave it. Especially if you have larger assignments or other things to study for.
Tip 4. Do the harder assignments first. This may be personal preference, but I always do the more draining assignments first. This doesn't always mean the longest/objectively the hardest. Sometimes it's just getting your least favorite/worst subject out of the way so that you can check it off your list.
Tip 5. Personal reward system. This is why it's good to have hobbies! it's not a good idea to make needs rewards, like food/water and bathroom breaks,, please don't do that!!
but the amount of times i've told myself that if i finish/get to a certain point in an assignment i can go onto tumblr and read a fic is insane 😭
small rewards like that that are just fun are super helpful,, so if you have any hobbies that are like reading, scrolling on your phone, watching a certain show, etc,, you can use that to motivate you as long as you can quantify it.
Like don't say you can scroll on your phone as a reward unless you're done for the day, say you can scroll on your phone for X amount of time so that it doesn't take up the entire day,, if that makes sense lol
that's why i tend to like other rewards better, because phones aren't set up to have a natural, satisfying end. But if you tell yourself that you can watch an episode of a TV show or read a specific fic or read a chapter of a book,, you'll feel better when it's over. That's more of a personal opinion though.
sorry for how long this is 😭i hope it helps

York Household: Chapter 8, Part 6
Time to move in Paris! First up a look at the foster home she's been living in, and it's manager. Then back home Deanna finally finishes the robotics project she's been working on and Paris ages up.
Tumblr media
Here we have Ms Gallheizer's Orphanage built by EA ID: Chronicll
Paris: Home sweet hell
Deanna: At least you're finally leaving
Paris: Hopefully everyone will be eating and we can slip in unnoticed
Aaron: We do have to tell the manager you're leaving though, legally speaking
Paris: She'll be thrilled
Tumblr media
Deanna: Should we go find her
Paris: We'd better not disturb dinner
Ms G: Where have you been
Paris: I signed out for the afternoon
Ms G: But not the evening. Dinner is at 5:30 sharp and you are late. Again!
Paris: Sorry
Ms G: Don't say sorry, be better girl! You've been here long enough to know
Tumblr media
Paris: It won't happen again Ms Gallheizer, because I'm leaving
Ms G: It's not your birthday yet so get upstairs and be glad I kept your dinner portion aside
Paris: I...
Ms G: No smart reply? Of course that would require being smart
Aaron: Perhaps I should introduce myself
Ms G: Why? You a cop?
Tumblr media
Ms G: A social worker?
Aaron: Well no-
Ms G: Then you have no authority under my roof
Aaron: I'm a lawyer
Ms G: Sure you are
Aaron: Mr York, prosecutor in Tartosa
Ms G: We're not in Tartosa Mr York
Aaron: Perhaps we should talk in your office, Paris has things to do
Ms G: On that we agree
Tumblr media
Deanna: She is exactly like you described, maybe a bit worse
Paris: You think your pa can sort it
Deanna: He can be your legal guardian for a day, no problem, promise
Paris: My room is this way
Deanna: I didn't hear much from the dining room
Paris: No talking allowed at dinner, one of the first rules we learn
Deanna: What a hag
Tumblr media
Aaron: Her birthday is only tomorrow, she would have to leave then anyway
Ms G: Be that as it may this is highly irregular. I raise my kids to be independent dependable members of society, not run under their girlfriends skirts
Aaron: You certainly can turn a phrase
Ms G: Paris has no self discipline, give her an inch she will run a mile. How do I know you can provide a suitable environment
Aaron: It's just one day
Calista: Is this the right room
Tumblr media
Aaron: This is my wife, Captain York
Ms G: Captain?
Calista: Is there a problem here amore
Aaron: Ms Gallheizer had some doubts about our parental skills
Calista: Did she now
Ms G: Well- Perhaps I jumped the gun
Aaron: So we can take her home
Ms G: Why you would want to is beyond me. But yes, I'll get you the forms
Tumblr media
Paris: It's strange, these four walls have been my life for almost a decade
Deanna: No posters
Paris: *shrilly* no damaging the walls
Deanna: *laughs* feel free to coat our walls at home
Paris: Home sounds nice
Deanna: Ready to leave it behind
Paris: Babe, did you notice I already packed
Deanna: *laughs* I did
Tumblr media
Kelly: My tooth still isn't out yet
Calista: It'll fall out, don't worry
Kelly: What if I accidentally eat it
Aaron: I did that once, I survived
Calista: Aaron! Chin up caro, you'll be okay
After dinner Kelly mopes to mantis for a while before deciding to just pull it out. Success! Evil laugh!
Tumblr media
Paris gets her stuff moved in and Deanna welcomes her with a celebratory pillow fight.
Paris: Your pillows are so poofy
Deanna: All the better to hit you with
Paris: Oh two can play at that game babe
Deanna: I hope you enjoy losing
Paris: In your dreams. En garde!
Tumblr media
In the end Paris concedes the fight. She does a quick bit of study for her exams tomorrow then happily climbs in to bed beside her favourite person.
Tumblr media
Paris woke up early from a horrible nightmare so decides to polish off her homework until Deanna wakes up.
Deanna: Happy birthday baby
Paris: Thanks. I'm not looking forward to these exams, thank the watcher they're my last
Deanna: You'll be great
Paris: I average a c miss valedictorian but thanks
Tumblr media
Deanna: And Joey helped me make you a cake
Paris: I don't suppose I could just age up now
Deanna: No way, you go crush those exams, then come home. We'll celebrate then baby
Paris: Okay, last day of high school, here I go!
Tumblr media
Calista had another awful nightmare so works out early to try chase the scare away. She reaches level 10 fitness and discovers she is a perfectionist. I might need to make the skill gain even slower than it already is at this rate! Deanna finally finishes... whatever the heck this thing is.
Tumblr media
Pictures of the quadcopter doing quad-copter things
Tumblr media
To my complete surprise, but not Deanna's, Paris absolutely aced her final exams! It's finally age up time for her and as she makes a wish Deanna cheers her on. Deanna did a cute little song as well. Paris rolls Creative as her third trait which compliments her cuisine hobby that she rolled earlier.
Tumblr media
Deanna: Want to go on a date
Paris: With you? Absolutely babe
Deanna: I'm thinking, beachside
Paris: Sounds perfect
The two head to central Tartosa and take some time to soak in the romantic atmosphere.
Paris: It's so lovely here, and no snow
Deanna: Snow can be good for snuggling
Paris: Maybe so
Tumblr media
Paris: But we don't need snow to snuggle
Deanna: I love you baby
Paris: Right back at you babe
They share a kiss and a cuddle
Paris: That sunset is stunning
Deanna: You're stunning
Paris: De, we're in public
Deanna: What do you want to do then
Paris: Play in a g rated way, come on
Tumblr media
Deanna: I haven't built a sandcastle in ages
Paris: I won't hold it against you. I've always loved making them. My parents...
Deanna: Did they help
Paris: Yeah, we made them as a family. Once we made one as big as me. I wasn't a tall toddler but still
Deanna: Do you have any photos
Paris: A couple
Tumblr media
Paris: Photos of my parents that is, not the sandcastles. They only exist in my memory now
Deanna: I think we did a pretty good job with this one, a castle for my princess
Paris: You're sweet
Deanna: Sometimes
Paris: All times De, I know it
Deanna: And you're happy, with us?
Paris: I am babe

And this chapter wraps up back home with everyone in their right beds. I had to take some shots of the house again as I love property pictures, and sleeping pictures, to bookend my chapters.

Does everyone have a process to doing homework? Kai seems to do his accounting wherever and whenever, but we don’t see the others doing theirs too much- which is odd because a few of them are juniors and we are OVERLOADED with work lmao
lol 'process'. These kids are honestly just very lucky that they're all smart to one degree or another + very capable of multitasking. Also here's the studying/exam, general grades/scores, and current academic level posts for extra reference to those new to the loop *confetti*
Kai: Only dedicates himself to the homework he likes to do, obviously including accounting. The other half he winds up delegating to Jay; especially true in Season 2 (as his time becomes divided between training Lloyd and his Metal Shop project, which ya already know). Works on his whenever he has time.
Jay: Normally doesn't have homework of his own—he's that kid that manages to finish it before the end of class and/or in other classes before the end of the day, and thus usually only ever has Social Studies to finish outside of class, which he works on with Nya. Any other homework he does is usually Kai's (but only to a "B- Standard"). Doesn't take him very long, so his homework is the first thing he tackles right after school.
Nya: Don't tell Zane, but a lot of Nya's homework is actually done during Student Council. The jobs for a VP are a lot of management and organizing, which leaves her a lot of free time for that hour. Whenever she's working diligently, she probably just filling out chemistry forms or finishing an essay. Whatever isn't completed then she works on with Olivia during lunch or with Jay after school...and she's encouraged to go fast with it given the speed Jay works rip
Zane: Not quite as "efficient" as Jay is, as he spends every second he can paying attention in class, but his sheer dedication to subjects with pristine notes also means he doesn't take very long to get work done either—and it helps that he's learned his brain is a computer. He likes to do his homework after dinner when things are calm or during lunch if the others are otherwise preoccupied. When *he* doesn't have homework, he's usually forcing Cole to do his.
Cole: Obviously despises homework, and just opts to not do most of it until Zane intervenes, given that due to having almost the exact same classes + most of their classes are advanced, Cole can't afford to slack off. He gets a little better when Jesse starts helping him study in the thin wisps of free time they find, but mostly skirts by coasting off of Zane's stuff (doubly so when he has to start working to earn them some extra money, which Zane deems is reasonable enough to ease off the pressure on him).
Lloyd: He's kind of in a weird place because a) he's not used to even having homework outside of what Darkley's counted as homework b) but he's still able to work through it quickly cuz he smart yet c) the stress of everything else means he really doesn't want to do it so d) you can find him often scrambling to finish before class starts only for e) the teachers to give him bad grades anyway because they despise him, further deterring him from wanting to do it...but f) Nya is there to encourage him to keep trying and learning anyway, even if only out of spite.
Everyone else save for Olivia and Harumi have normal homework habits throughout Season 2+3; Olivia starts slacking more for obvious reasons and Harumi winds up doubling down on her studies/assignments...also for possibly obvious reasons.

Your an old person right. How do I pass highschool exams without studying
I usually memorize a cheat sheet before the exam and study like a months worth of stuff in a single stressful night. I actually used to be a top student in my elementary school days... after that though I started getting worse and worse.
depends on your definition of studying. and spending the minimum amount of effort required to a: not fail and b: make it look like you've somewhat got your life together (hahahaha couldn't be me!)
my advice is like... don't just read and skim through everything when studying? make a cheetsheet or a summary chart for yourself even if you won't use it writing it on paper helps your brain organize stuff and it'll be easier to memorize.
everyone's brain works differently so this might not be for you.
I'm not sure how neurotypical people deal with this but even to this day I have so much trouble with keeping myself focused on homework and projects. it doesn't get easier. it doesn't get better you just gotta hold yourself toghter and pray you'll get by another year's worth of stress disappoinment and self loathing only to UNLEARN that toxic mentality step by step... take a friking breather and just... relax...
then go back to studying hell.
(the executive do be dysfunctioning for me)
living life is about understanding your own weaknesses and like maybe compensating for them with your strength in a somewhat balanced state. or like... just winging it.
worst thing is there's no actual text book or manual for managing your own life and people have to learn it from experience.
to answer your question... I'm not sure. I don't think you can go completely onward without studying UNLESS you're already good at the subject/ it interests you and you automatically have looked into it before being taught/ you're just a fast learner...
if none of these then you'll have to just endure it. but REMEMBER it's not your fault.
that life just fucking sucks sometimes and you shouldn't beat yourself up over it.
I'm sorry. to this day I have still not found a good answer to this. but some small things can help you.

ITTO made a point of not worrying about studying. In his own words, it defeated the purpose because "if i was going to remember what they taught me in class, i would have put it in my memory when they first told me!" This had gotten him into trouble with many an exam.
His philosophy when it comes to bigger projects, however, was surprisingly reasonable. Every time your boyfriend was assigned a project, he tore through it as fast as possible, so somehow, he never got buried with work.
Tonight, you were buried with work. You'd been trying to pace yourself for nearly the entire day, but with class on top of assignment on top of class on top of cup of coffee, you'd quickly become completely exhausted, lying face up on the floor. You stared at the fluorescent lights in the room you shared with Itto, which didn't deign to do anything other than flicker briefly at you in response. You covered your eyes with your arm, letting out a long sigh, when you heard the door to your dorm room open loudly.
"HEEEEEEY!! Guess who's here to help the best boyfriend in the whole wide world with his stupid boring college homework!!"
Itto barged in, grin evident on his face. Despite the colder weather, he was still only wearing his typical tank and cargo shorts. He sniffed, lifting up three plastic bags no doubt filled with goodies.
You reluctantly rolled over onto your stomach and pushed yourself off the floor, gazing at him tiredly. "What'd you get? Instant ramen again?"
"Obviously! And, also," Itto added, closing the door and taking things out of the bags, "i got hawaiian bread rolls, which should be interesting, three different flavors of ice cream, a bunch of crackers, energy drinks, instant coffee, and tylenol. For your headache."
"What?" you concentrated for a second. "Wait, you're right. How did you know I have a headache?"
"Come on, babe, look how scrunched up your eyebrows are. Give yourself a break, okay?" Itto frowned at you and ruffled your head, earning him a huff from you. "You're not gonna get anything done if you're this tired."
"I can't take a break though," you answered stubbornly, "I have about five things due tomorrow and it's already ten pm. If I don't finish this, it's game over for me."
"No, it's not. Listen, if you don't finish everything, it'll be okay. Just look how much stuff you have assigned to you! Nobody should have to do this much work, it's torture! If I had to do all that I just wouldn't."
"Right, which is why I can't take advice from you."
Itto stuck his tongue out at you and flicked your forehead. "Well, if you're not gonna see reason, I guess I'll just have to show you!"
"Huh?" you asked, but you didn't have a chance to add anything else, as Itto has already scooped you up in his arms and plopped you down on the couch in front of the TV. He grabbed a blanket from nearby and draped it around your shoulders. Once you were comfortably situated, he took your laptop and books and put them in the microwave.
"HEY! What the hell are you doing to my stuff!"
"You're going to sit here with me and take a break. If you say even one thing about wanting to work, I'm turning on the microwave."
"Itto! You'll break my computer!"
Itto thought about this for a moment, then reluctantly took your things out of the microwave. "Okay, right. Got it. Just don't try anything, okay? You're relaxing now. It's relaxing time."
You sighed, giving up. It's true that your professors had uploaded an unreasonable amount of work for you to finish. Maybe if you showed the proof to those whose work you hadn't finished yet, they'd understand... in any case, Itto was right. You were overworking yourself, and you needed a break.
You slumped over into the couch, allowing yourself to sink into the cushions. Itto returned from where he'd been putting the food in the fridge earlier, two bowls of ice cream in hand and a pringles tube stuffed into his giant pockets.
"Here," he offered, handing you one of the bowls. "I know I'm not super regular-smart, but I am super you-smart, and I know that right now this is the best thing for you." You took the bowl, nodding, and sunk back into the couch. Itto sat down heavily next to you, splaying out his limbs and putting one arm around you. It was a miracle he didn't spill his ice cream all over his lap.
"Feeling better yet?" he asked, placing a surprisingly gentle kiss on your forehead and slowly squishing you closer to him. It was impossible not to feel better with how close to you he was and how far he'd gone to cheer you up.
"Yeah, I am," you said, giving him a soft, tired smile.
"Good," Itto said, grabbing the TV remote, "now, what do you want to watch? Anything's fine by me, as long as you're here."

I love my family and I believe they raised me very well to be open-minded, and I always knew that I was loved no matter what sort of person I was, and that I always had somewhere/someone safe to fall back on, but they sure did give me a superiority complex! And I fell from grace HARD when I was eventually forced to realise I wasn't the smartest kid in the world and I couldn't accomplish anything I wanted.
And, I don't know. I wish I'd heard less of the 'you're so smart, smarter than all the other kids!' and instead more of 'I think you're smart, but it's okay if you struggle to accomplish as much as the other kids. your intelligence does not determine your worth'
Cause like yeah, as a kid, I WAS smarter than all the other kids. Then when I got to high school my mental illness started affecting my studies, I started struggling to complete tasks, I stopped winning awards, I had to ask for homework help for the first time in years, and one day I was suddenly slammed with the realisation that holy crap, I'm not as smart as I think I am. And it kind of fucked me up, because that was something I'd prided myself on for years, it was something I'd been told my whole life, at times I felt like it was the only thing I had going for me. And when I tried to express this, all anyone ever told me was 'don't be silly, of course you're smart!'
But I really didn't feel smart anymore.
I distinctly remember my anxiety when some work I had submitted came back with revisions. I couldn't read them. I didn't want to know what I had got wrong, what I could improve. One year I worked my ass off on my practice exams, and I was completely stunned to get the results back and realise I had failed every single one. So I worked even harder on the real exams. And I remember my teacher sitting me down and asking how it was possible that I could get the highest score on an exam, but not get enough credits to pass the school year.
And I didn't know how to explain to her that I'd been effortlessly getting the highest scores my entire life, but now I struggled to get them, and I was ashamed to get anything other than the highest score. So if I wanted to complete work, it would take me much, much longer than it would take most students.
And the most important story, I think, was before I hit high school, before I realised my intelligence was faltering. Year 7 did not treat me well. I don't think it treated many people well. 12 years old is probably the worst age a child can be, and we were all 12 years old, and all surrounded by 12 year olds. I didn't have many friends, and those I did have, with one exception, I didn't like, and they didn't like me. I excelled that year, academically. I won dux at my school. Next year rolled around, the older kids left, the new kids joined, and I ditched everyone I had been friends with and found new friends in the new kids. I was happier that year. My teacher was less happy. I focused less on work and more on friendship, and this frustrated her because she felt I was wasting my potential. My parents were told this a lot in parent/teacher interviews. I would consistently get one of two types of reviews: I was smart but quiet, or I was too loud and was wasting my potential. Essentially, I was either depressed and had little other than schoolwork to focus my attention on, or I was happy and was putting my effort into other projects I was passionate about.
I didn't win dux in year 8. My teacher didn't give it to me, even though academically I scored higher than the person who did win it. I strongly suspect she just felt I didn't deserve it.
But anyway. Blah blah, gifted child syndrome, poor me. I dropped out of school at 16. It just wasn't for me, I couldn't handle it, and I'm not gonna lie, I don't regret it. My first year without school was a year in which I rediscovered myself, and how to find my happiness again- not just in the small comforts I found in reclaimed moments of time that should have been mine in the first place, but all the time. I was sleeping again, eating again, feeling again. I found my happiness in accepting that I wasn't intelligent in the way my teachers thought I was. I just wish someone had told me that sooner, and explained that it was alright.
I think this post is all over the place and probably doesn't make much sense but I just needed to get this off my mind.
