I know I didn't make a follow up post about Disneyland, but long story short, I survived, and it was incredible. I wish instagram still was connected to tumblr, you would've seen all my updates. If you want to see the pictures I posted, here's my instagram (you have to scroll a little because we celebrated both Easter and Lily's fourth birthday since we've been back) but it was amazing and I've since been suffering from the post-Disney blues more like depression 😭 since we've been home.
Galaxy's Edge was the BOMB and I just had to share my freaking ROGUE SQUADRON HELMET that I didn't even know EXISTED, because I wore my HU rogue squadron tank top (with the hoodie that you can't see) of course on Star Wars Land day (our last day) and it was just too perfect to pass up. It is so cool you guys. I AM SO COOL NOW. I CAN BE ROGUE NINE WHENEVER I WANT. I'M BASICALLY CORRAN HORN NOW!!
The blue milk was delicious! I wish I could've tried the green milk because it's supposedly even better, but it has grapefruit in it (damn you psych meds!!) so that was a bummer, but oh well. The x wing was SO COOL, and so was the Millennium Falcon (again, go to my instagram to see it (am I fishing for likes?! maybe 😉)) and while we couldn't ride the Rise of the Resistance because they don't do single riders, I was an engineer on Smuggler's Run and the group I was with was really welcoming and it was pretty fun! Also, my R2D2 ears were SO cute but SO uncomfortable which was a bummer, I had been wanting them for months and ended up preferring the cheap etsy ones I got me and the girls (you can see them in the instagram pics from the first two days!). But we met R2 while I was wearing the R2 ears, so, you know, that was PRETTY FUCKING COOL 😱
Last but not least, we found these amazing ILYIK spirit jerseys and while I typically am not a fan of the spirit jerseys I just couldn't pass these up. We have ILYIK engraved on our wedding bands, they were on my R2 wedding heels, on our cake topper, and on our third anniversary we painted this which has been above our beds ever since (this fall is our eighth anniversary)(look at us, what babies!):
We did rope drop to fireworks every single park day, with one rest/pool day, and fuck it was exhausting and I was in soo much pain and so exhausted, but it was so damn worth it. SO WORTH IT YOU GUYS. I cried when we left the gates the last night, because it had been soo magical and such an incredible time and I had been so happy and... when am I going to be that happy again?! Fuck if I know. Seriously 😭 hence the post-Disney blues/depression...
It was just amazing. Magical. Everything you could've hoped for. The girls had the best time. I was so stressed out and sure, I forgot ninety percent of my personal hygiene stuff because I had to pack everyone else's shit but hey that's motherhood for you.
Okay, this was supposed to be a Star Wars souvenir appreciation post but it's getting away from me a bit... anyway. I survived Disneyland 2024. I wish I could go back. Someone take me back?!
saw the "who's your most underrated Kleypas hero" question getting bandied about (again) today, and I must say, the only answers I'll accept are:
--John McKenna/Again the Magic (I'd argue that AtM is not the DEEP CUT newer Kleypas readers think it is; before I read it, it was definitely upheld as a classic of hers, but people who want the softer boys she writes in the Ravenels... may not like this one; however, McKenna fucks RIDICULOUS lbr)
--Alex, Lord Raiford/Then Came You (yes... he calls her a bitch.... and I'll be real this made me love him more... he carried her over his shoulder outta Craven's and bought her a bear I'm VERY confident in this choice)
--Kev Merripen/Seduce Me at Sunrise (thought he'd kill Win with his massive dick, tied her up and took her to his fuck cottage, is Heathcliff if Heathcliff wasn't horrible basically)
--Leo Hathaway/Married by Morning (fun bout wounded king, "haha" in the streets and "oh shit" in the sheets, notable for making Catherine ask him to touch her pussy in explicit and specific language)

Studio film, 1971 (Anna Moffo, Lajos Kozma, Giulio Fioravanti, Paolo Washington; conducted by Carlo Felice Cillario)
Leoncavallo's Pagliacci

Lil started preschool this week, which has been great! except she wasn't routed in time for the bus (which is in her iep) which sucked. So there was a lot of farting around, Peanut being late to school, and grandparents stepping up to bat to help get Pea to school while I took Lil to school because their schools are twenty minutes apart.
But she starts the bus on Monday, and I'm just... super nervous, and worried, and anxious. Because she'll be on it in the morning for almost an entire hour! I feel like that's a lot of time to be stuck on a bus in a car seat with no one you know at three years old?! The ride home is only a half hour long, which is much much better, but still... just super worried.
She is totally loving school (even though they don't attend Wednesdays) and is only there for two and a half hours but, with this bus stuff, will be gone from the house for four hours. That's a long time for a little bun! So now I'm frantically researching airtags and stuff just because I'm so nervous and like... yeah. I don't know. If you use an airtag to keep track of your bus kids (or something similar) what do you think? Is there a better way?
I'm just nervous. An hour seems like a long fucking time to be stuck on a bus. And I can't give her like, a book or something, because she's too young to guarantee putting it in her backpack at the end of the drive you know? And that's obviously not something the bus driver needs to be worried about, with a bus full of preschoolers that are all on ieps... ugggghhh.
I'm just so nervous for her. Hopefully she's fine and I'm worried about nothing.
When Morgan was around 10, Sister Marian had all the girls of Morgan's age present to the class the story of their Biblical namesake. The idea was to deliver the moral of each of these characters, and to vow to live up to it.
Ruth talked about how she would always be there for her family, no matter what she had to sacrifice.
Sarah talked about how she would trust what God said no matter how surprising it may seem.
Leah wanted to talk about how she would sneak in at the last second and steal her sister’s man, but she didn’t dare say that to Sister Marian, so instead she said something about being obedient even when you aren't happy.
All three Marys got together and argued at length over who would get to be Jesus’s mom, and who would have to be Martha’s sister or the Magdalene. In the end, they could only stop arguing if nobody got to be Jesus’s mom, and the third one of them had to settle for the woman Paul meets in Romans 16.
A few of the girls had to do some research with the priest’s help. Judith discovered that she was named for Esau’s wife; Anna for a prophetess in Luke; Gabriella for the angel Gabriel (though perhaps that one shouldn’t have been difficult to figure out).
And of course a few kids here and there had names that weren’t originally from the Bible. Christina got to speak of being Christian, and Arabella got to speak of being “given in prayer.” Lillian, Viola, and Rosa got to share a presentation about flowers and nature.
In other words, everyone else in Morgan’s class had a name that was either in Latin or right out of the Bible. They all had names they could learn about, that they could recognize, that came from an acceptable culture. This was an elite noble convent after all, for the third daughters of important men with more to gain from currying favor with the church than currying favor with another noble. She was the king’s step-daughter, after all.
But “Morgan” was not a Latin name-- and it wasn’t a Bible name either. It was a Breton name. She was named by her mother, duchess of Cornwall and princess of Avalon. Her sister was going to be queen of Lothian. While she didn’t know it yet, she herself was going to be queen of Wales. This was Britain; she had a Breton name, not some importation from the French or the Romans. She would eventually learn to take pride in that.
But she was not taking pride then, as a ten year old student of a nunnery, completely alone and unable to explain the origins of her own name. She was excused from the presentation, and instead got to give a brief talk on any Biblical woman of her choice, and she chose Delilah. She chose Delilah because she liked the story of a woman taking initiative and not always being kind and honest, but then she was the only girl talking about a woman you shouldn’t imitate in addition to all the other ways she was standing out.
A while after that, her sister was married to the King of Lothian; she was 21, and he was 24. An extremely lucky pairing for her, all things considered. Morgan had leave to go visit for the wedding, and while they were alone, she asked her sister if she knew where her name came from.
Morgause laughed. Her laugh was always so high-pitched, but crisp and clear and never shrill.
“They didn’t know?,” she said.
“Everybody else was named for a saint or something,” Morgan said shyly.
“Well you certainly aren’t that,” Morgause said gleefully. “You were named for the mary-morgans!”
Morgan stared, unsure.
“The mari-morgans. The drowner spirits! The merrow, the sirens, the children of dead Dahut?” She put her arm around little Morgan and pulled her in close. “You’re named for the dread enchantresses who live in the sea, who draw out sailors and dash them against the rocks. You are powerful, and magical, and alluring, and deadly. And just like the mari-morgans, you are going to rule the world from your throne in the sea, and anyone who tries to take on Morgan the Fairy will drown.” She kissed the top of her little sister's head.
Morgan hated that nickname, but when Morgause said it, it sounded like a complement. Something to be proud of. She clung to that feeling and buried her head in her sister’s chest. It had been so long.

I do think is hilarious Gabriel St Vincent was going aroung thinking he had a very hardcore kink when his parents were probably doing was he does on a regular tuesday lol
and it's funny too because we genuinely have no.... idea what was so *subversive* that he was doing with his mistress (shoutout to Mrs. Black) and if some light bondage was the extent of it or there was more and that's just the tip of the iceberg and when he did it to Pandora it was kind of an experiment to see if she'd respond well to it she'd be open to more experimentation.
as for Sebastian and Evie, I don't think their tastes tend in that direction (although..... I wonder if Seb ever showed Evie what he could do with handcuffs based on what he told Lillian in IHOA lolol), BUT Sebastian is alllll about that thing where he likes to pretend he's "corrupting" Evie and we do see that in the Ravenels along with a penchant for roleplay (see: old lech master/maid).
