regulus black, pandora lestrange, barty crouch jr. and evan rosier. the slytherin slays, one can say. they are a tight knit of people who were childhood friends, their very dark academic, with summer houses and pianos and old books. the vibes are great.

sybil trelawney, william wilkes and the twins: artemis and apollo’s rowle. two ravenclaw, a hufflepuff and a slytherin. sybil has visions, artemis believes in fairies, apollo is an eldest daughter and will is the prettiest boy / lord byron variant. they are very chaotic and i love them.

the tiktok marauders fans opinion on snape completely rocketed snape hate to a new height. as a fan who is on both and has been on tumblr much much longer. I have never seen worse hate, and I used to get death threats over snape here on my old account.

it's genuinely scary to see this part of fandom delve into purity culture and hypocrisy. seeing the lengths people are willing to go to 'redeem' regulus black, evan rosier or any other death eater is surreal. but snape is where the line if drawn, he is the devil.

like I have maybe a solid 10 other editors I know who like snape and nothing else, midst the thousands of marauder fans completely making up nonsensical things about snape to make him the bad guy.

like seeing someone defend alecto carrow then turn around and say that snape frequently called lily a mudblood and list fanon headcanons about him is almost unbelievable. to the point where I will be sitting there going, "this is a joke, this cannot be serious".

being called an abuse apologist, a pedophile, and many many other things for simply liking a character genuinely hurts. it hurts to realize that these people commenting and saying hurtful things somehow don't realize that you are a person with feeling who can be hurt by words.

here at least you can curate you experience, tiktok is the wild west, and hate is well known.

ok so!! small reminders about me, since i do feel like lately a lot of blogs have been following me that don't agree with my opinions in the harry potter fandom specifically!

first and foremost, i am a minor. if you have in your bio "minors DNI" please don't follow me? or interact with my posts?? if you're over thirty, try not to respond to my stuff. grow up and learn to ignore it.

i do not care about, nor do i like snape. if you disagree with me, that's perfectly fine, i totally respect that, and good for you. however this blog is not a snape-loving environment. if that bothers you too much, you can unfollow me. i certainly like a lot of problematic characters (barty, evan etc), but i dont cry about it when others disagree with me.

i am not a death eater apologist, despite enjoying their characters. in non-canon stuff i love all these characters, they're amazing. however i'm not one of those people who think that the canon characters deserve to be forgiven because of abuse they've faced. if you disagree, again that's fine. but please be aware of this. (yeah i enjoy their characters, but they dont get to be forgiven)

my art and fics are all snape-related/snape-centered. i do have recurring tags due to their belonging to specific aus and they are:

evans!severus - au where snape is adopted into the evans family as a child. he grows up with lily and petunia and their parents and has a fairly normal childhood. he's still a wizard but doesn't attend hogwarts due to him having epilepsy and it's something he deals with throughout his life. also largely has their growing-up years set in the 90s-2000s so is not book timeline-compliant. the content i create isn't chronological and are mainly vignettes and drawings, depending on my mood. :))

godbrat!draco - au/hc where snape is draco's godfather and ends up babysitting him a lot of the time in cokeworth. honestly unsure if i've created little fics for these but i'm fairly confident they're mostly, if not all, drawings, often with little narratives.

the malfoys - because i love this family, the hijinks i imagine they can get up to with severus all go here. one of the related tags is "the malfoys are a 3 parent family" and that basically sums up my view of them x snape. sometimes snape is also their recalcitrant eldest child/younger sibling but it can also easily slide into ot3 in all sorts of ways. cokeworth - is a mixed bag. it's not all my content; it can feature other artists/writers. but it mainly focuses on snape's growing-up years or his adulthood spent in cokeworth. also may have hcs and meta, feat. lily evans/petunia evans.

tobias snape apologist - what it says on the tin. i have a lot to say about this character and have a lot of drawings and other stuff to show for it. i love tobias! one of my fave minor characters in hp. i love exploring that gritty muggle father/wizard son concept. also doesn't contain just my stuff but a lot of other creators too.

Yes I am a jegulus shipper, but more a jegulily shipper than anything else. I'm aware that what I'm about to say may sound hypocritical but can we PLEASE STOP BEING APOLOGISTS FOR LITERAL DEATH EATERS. WE KNOW FOR A FACT EVAN AND BARTY WERE INVOLVED IN TORTURING NEVILS PARENTS AND SOMEHOW PEOPLE ARE STILL BEING LIKE OH NO THEY WERE JUST MISUNDERSTOOD AND FORCED INTO THIS. LIKE BITCH NO THEY WERE THE REASON NEVIL IS BASICALLY AN ORPHAN.

THIS FANDOM IS SLOWLY STARTING TO BECOME LIKE SNAPE APOLOGISTS. AND WHILE I AM A SNAPE HATER HE WAS BETTER THAN ANY OF THE NEW SLYTHERINS THIS FANDOM STARTED ROOTING FOR AND SHIPPING WITH MCS. AND DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE LILY HATERS CAUSE OF JEGULUS. REPEAT AFTER ME: " JUST BECAUSE MOST OF THE FANDOM IS HEADCANONS, FLOWERPOTS/JILY IS CANON AND WE SHOULD RESPECT THAT AND RESPECT LILY TOO!"

If we are looking for new characters for the marauders fandom there already is!! Marlene, Dorcas, the black sisters, the list goes on. But because they aren't men the fandom won't pay attention to them. This fandom has wayyyy too much gay relationship fetishisation as well as mysogyny, and majority of the fandom is queer people/queer women. I am disappointed and ashamed to call myself a marauders fan.

Check your morals and look at a characters backstory and their actions before you start becoming an apologist for them. Yes I am a fan of regulus black but I also acknowledge his mistakes, but I am also aware that he is one of the only people in the new slytherin based marauders fandom that truly tried to do some good before he died. The other characters don't deserve the apologies and the babygirlification (which is also another form of fetishising just by the way, since they're all male characters).

i would just like to SPECIFY and go into a bit of detail about what each thing actually means:

this may not seem so bad, but when i mean they will comment on anything, i mean anything. it doesnt have to be marauder-related. it doesn’t even need to be related to harry potter. i saw a tiktok on a gorilla eating a banana and someone deadass commented “thats cool and stan james potter 😝” and lord FORBID if you include anything with snape in it. want to make an edit of him? backlash. want to talk about how you like him because hes interestingly written? backlash. want to deconstruct his character due to how badly fanon twisted him and actually analyse him? “anyways stan james potter” may be the dominant response to that, just so you know.

“sirius would never say that about mary!” said the marauder fan, heartbroken. “canon sirius would hate himself in atyd!” i respond usually with “canon sirius is a white boy in the 70s, hes not the ‘slay feminist yass 😍’ king you think he is.” this elicits quite a plethora of negative reactions, and i understand why. misogyny is stinky, no one wants their favourite character to be acting like that. so this option doesn't mean "fans who like a characterisation of sirius black that isn't necessarily time period realistic," but rather "fans who deny canon evidence for a fanon conception and then hate on things that expand on the canon evidence provided to them." "they are wizards, which isn't realistic, but you choose the time period misogyny as a hill to die on?" the marauder fan replied to me (and im quite literally quoting on what a creator said to me, this isn't an exaggeration). meanwhile canon sirius black: *harrasses snape for dressing more femininely/more outside gender norms* yeah and you think that boy would be a feminist...

you may think to yourself: when did [insert ship] become a thing? why is this happening? who even is this person? most of the time, it's all in good fun, sometimes, however, ships are created that purely contradict the entire point of said character. snily was criticised for doing exactly this, and now look at where we are.

after reading these points, you may come to the conclusion: holy shit the problem is just marauders fans. in fact, you may take it one more and remember more shit that had occurred due to this sub fandom of the harry potter universe. ever been criticised for not characterising purely fanon (dorcas, marlene etc etc) characters properly? ever been attacked for calling out the hypocritical stanning of barty, evan, regulus and peter whilst piling all blame onto bellatrix or snape? yeah me too babes.

i know we've talked about tiktok a lot, but i raise one more thing: the inescapable hell that is dracotok. this usually consists of those young teenage girls thinking they are very hardcore for participating in death eater practices despite its mirroring of being violent oppressors on a discriminated group so they can impress none other than draco malfoy. this, or they're the badass 'girlboss' that can change him. completely and ironically misunderstanding the point of his character aside, every cringey POV/thirst trap you have EVER seen on tiktok is probably replicated and 10x worse on dracotok.

i swear i haven't heard the term "gryffindork" since 2016, but alas, there has been a comeback. i call hogwarts legacy fans 'baby' hp fans, because i seriously do believe that these people have not interacted with the fandom until now. that would be okay if they weren't regressing everyone to early 2000s discourse. are gryffindors not being invited to ravenclaw, hufflepuff and slytherin raves that deep? no. but those three houses wouldn't be having raves in the first place

this didn't get on my nerves until i suffered from years and years of randoms going into detail about why slytherin/hufflepuff was the best harry potter house and then getting genuine mad when idgaf. maybe you have experienced this tragedy too. there are grown people getting into genuine online beef with others because they made a joke about slytherin being evil or hufflepuff being useless. makes me think you are just evil and useless (just kidding, but please wake up and realise that slytherin & hufflepuff quite literally do not exist)

i sympathise for people who like snape, i do. i do not sympathise for those who attempt to justify or excuse his actions. this normally comes with a side dish of misogyny, because more often than not they will find a way to blame it on lily. other times, they will blame his trauma. i want to be clear: his trauma explains his actions, it doesn't excuse them. that is the whole point of him ruining his chances with lily (not even as a lover, but as a companion). you are doing your own injustice to his character by trying to make him innocent, please stop

it's understandable why the cursed child is so hated. it's meant to be seen, not read, in my opinion. there's a lot of things in it that i too wish didn't exist. but that doesn't make it "not canon" because it upsets you. and of ALL the things that these types of people would choose to complain about, these are the things they chose: albus potter's namesakes (we've been going on about this for years like can we stop now please), harry being a 'bad dad' (think about his own upbringing a tiny bit more and maybe your brain can make a little more sense of his actions), delphi being voldemort's child (probably the only thing that i agree with these people on), and albus' name again because they REALLY hate it (but then they will counter this by saying "james sirius" is a good name, when it's still mid asf). anyway, it doesn't matter how much you squeeze your eyes shut and writhe around about it, the cursed child is canon. soz lol

Fem Young Severus Snape - Let's discuss

So I'm working on a story on archive of our own where Severus Snape leaves Hogwarts, but it's a fem Snape and it's tagged as Snape/Sirius and James, which I'm still unsure about. I love stories where characters realise their self worth and the toxic people behind and having character growth. Fanfiction or not those stories are the best.

But I'm mostly wondering what people think young female Severus Snape would look and be like, ignoring my fanfic counterpart that I already wrote up. I will be switching between him and her for addressing canon and fanmade Snape.

Now before any Snape supporters or bashers get onto me, I'll just quickly reveal that I haven't read the books and have only watched at least 4 films, but did some research in my mid teens in curiosity. I've always been interested in the characters, their dynamics, and what if scenarios, but never the magic.

There's a lot of fanart where she's given the same hair style as her male counterpart, and honestly I believe her hair would be much longer. Long to the point where it's unusual and makes her look unhinged. Long to the point where it's too easy for someone to pull it. Most of the time using it to cover her face, unsuccessfully hiding herself from the marauders. I can imagine her eyes and face glaring creepily at anyone who disturbs her, with her nose sticking out through it. She would have a really ghostly appearance, and if you count the mudblood incident you would sense the distress, anger and sadness waving off of her. I'm also thinking of this fanart made by @iscawen.

For an obsessive personality I would take inspiration from Palm Siberia. Palm starts off as creepy but goes off to become someone we sympathise with. Not saying that you have to sympathise with Snape, but I think he's someone to pity at a logical standpoint. I'm also speaking as someone who could relate to certain parts of his character.

Her obsession with Lily has more to do with being her first and only true friend. I think Snape wants love, but that love needs to come in different forms other than romance. With the whole unpleasant parents thing, and people staying many feet away from her due to her unruly appearance, it's safe to say that Snape latches onto Lily for a reason. She wants to be appreciated, cared for, recognised for something good rather than the bad omen that the people she's stuck with think she is. And she doesn't want to be punished for being a bad omen. I guess the same could be said for canon young Snape.

I don't ship them together, and I cringe whenever I come across a fanfic that does. Not only is it fun to hate Lily, but the whole marrying your former friend's childhood bully even though he's changed is super suspicious.

With the leaving Hogwarts thing Snape would have to realise that Lily isn't the angel that her mind made her out to be, but I don't know if that's while she's at Hogwarts or after she leaves.

By this time Snape gets a makeover, none of that altering physical features stuff. Just giving her healthier hair and skin, I don't think she needs make up but I think something Goth related would suit her. The story is set in the 70s so it was more of a decade filled with punk fashion (not everywhere of course) which would suit Sirius. (Another note that isn't relevant, when the fandom gives Snape makeover stories they always change his nose to be smaller, you'll be some hating ass people). I bet Snape had a thing for formal attire so I think she'd wear something similar to Wednesday Addams. I can definitely picture her with a black pencil skirt and blouse.

Also the 70s where a different time when it comes to beauty standards compared to the ones of today, I genuinely think a lot of guys would be into her even though a lot of people in the fandom love making Snape out to be some hideous creature. I think she would resemble Shelly Duvall or Angelica Hudson.

So I’m newer to the fan base, and I have someone I’m associated with who isn’t super interested in agent carter, but it’s mainly because she thinks Hayley atwell is a terrible person. I did some research after that and I’m hesitant to judge just what looks like gossip, but I also don’t want to support/want to meet someone who really hasn’t done great things. What do you think about it all?

You said it yourself, it sounds like gossip. Most, if not all of the hate surrounding Hayley is purely based off of people's speculation and wanting to hate a female character for 'getting in the way of their ship.' These websites like wegotyoucovered and comicbook pretty much twist what Hayley had said in order to get hits. Hayley isn't perfect but she's certainly not a villain when you compare her to these other actors/actresses of Marvel.

Such as Chris Pratt (who doesn’t an need introduction), RDJ (friends with Mel Gibson), Evangeline Lily (anti vax), Letitia Wright (anti vax), ScarJo (white washing, Woody Allen apologist). Not to mention THAT Age of Ultron interview with Evans and Renner. (calling Black Widow a slut) As well as: Mark Ruffalo, Elizabeth Olsen, and the g slur.

All these can be found online with trustworthy sources, unlike the ones about Hayley.

By far am I saying she's a perfect person because no one should be on that pedestal, but all this ridiculous hate is uncalled for.

What was your research? That one bullshit tumblr post? The one with no receipts, very much like much of this hate surrounding her? Twisting her words left and right to make her seem like the villain because people want someone to blame.

It's all gossip because people want something to talk about when there are worst actors to talk about who deserve this hate thrown at them. If you want someone to hate, then so be it, I'm certainly not going to change your mind.

Hi I am now in an anti-Snape mood so...here we go.

Quick preface before we begin: I will be talking about abuse and some other topics, I’ll put trigger warnings at the beginning of everything

NOTE: This is based off my experience as a person who was abused by both friends and family as well as a disabled person and a person who has been sexually harassed and something I don’t even know the term for it was somewhere in between sexual harassment and sexual assault.

“He was Abused as a Child”

I know it’s mentioned a lot but just because Snape was abused doesn’t mean he was destined to be a bad person, in fact, when someone says that, it makes it a lot harder for people to come to terms with what has happened. As a person who was manipulated and belittled my entire life I would like to say: I have been told I am a good person so I think I’m a good person, really it’s kind of subjective. But if you want to know some things so you can judge for yourself (a lot of these things had to be put on hold because of the pandemic which is why I’m using past tense):

I taught mentally and physically disabled kids how to swim

I had good grades

I work four jobs so I can pay to go to Uni

I have a hard time setting boundaries which means whenever someone ask me to do something, I do it out of fear of disappointing them (not a good thing but a thing none the less)

I was captain of the swim team

I was in a club that the soul purpose was to raise money for a children’s hospital

I spend a lot of my time volunteering

I know this sounds like I’m patting my own back but I just want you to understand who I am as a person. I like to think I’m a good person but it’s up to you if you believe that or not.

I have lost my autonomy due to my trauma. Every other word coming out of my mouth is sorry because I have been trained to believe everything is my fault. It took me years of therapy and talking with friends to figure that out.

The other day I asked my coworker if I could go to the bathroom because everything in my life I have had to tiptoe around and get express permission on including going to the restroom at times.

Obviously everyone reacts to abuse and trauma differently but having a villain and saying that they are bad because of the abuse they faced is just not it.

“The Marauders Sexually Assaulted/Harassed Snape”

AMAB sexual assault and harassment is a real thing that needs to be talked about more, and something that shouldn’t be used to win an argument.

Snape Stans can’t seem to decide if this is sexual assault or sexual harassment. At most it is sexual harassment, this isn’t to say that sexual harassment is something to scoff at, this is to ask: pick one because saying these two are the same things is wildly misleading so stop using these words interchangeably.

Stop using male victims and survivors as trophies for your arguments. Did you know that 1 out of every 10 rape survivors are men? This is a real issue so don’t use it as a defense because guess what? It also makes makes men of sexual abuse seem like they are villains. 

Pantsing was just a thing that happened when I was in grade school. Does that make it okay? No. But pantsing is mainly considered “schoolyard fun” especially when it’s between two people of the same sex. Again. Does this make it okay? No. Do I believe what James did was okay? No. But you can not tell me that if you got pantsed and your best friend was there to comfort you, would you call them a slur? I wouldn’t.

Okay and? He knew good muggles. I was abused by men. Does that mean I want all men dead? No. I have been abused by women. Does that mean I want all women dead? No! I could go on for a while of people who have abused me and I can tell you right now I don’t want any of those groups of people dead because guess what: those groups did nothing.

“Sirius Tried to Kill Him”

Yeah, no.

Nobody forced Snape to go there. Was it fucked up for Sirius to do that? Yeah. Like really fucked up but Snape didn’t have to go. He knew what he was getting himself into. He suspected Lupin to be a werewolf. He didn’t have to go to the shrieking shack.

I genuinely don’t think that Sirius thought this one through. To him Moony wasn’t a vicious creature, he had fun playing with Padfoot and he never hurt Padfoot so to Sirius it didn’t even cross his mind that he might be putting Snape in a dangerous situation.

That’s one theory, there are many theories and we don’t know why Sirius did it all we know is that Prongs saved Snape’s life. And Snape hated James for that. Which to be fair if someone saved my life I would probably be pissed off too but that’s besides the point.

“Snape Loved Lily”

No. Snape has the same energy as the guy who I blocked on Instagram after I repeatedly told him to stop something and then made four accounts just to keep texting me and went as far as to find and harass my friends. Same Energy.

“Their patroni match UwU” shut up. No. James’s patronus was a stag a stags mate is a doe, Lily’s was a doe. Snape’s was a doe as well. Now listen I’m down for two dope ass lesbian does but as we know because J*R that was not the case. That was an obsession. If you think that’s what love it like you are going to have very toxic relationships in your life and quite honestly lowkey concerned for you and/or your future, current, and/or past partners.

“He’s a good teacher he was keeping up the act”

No! Teachers abusing students is a real thing, what’s ever worse (as if that’s already bad enough) school was Harry’s safe haven. Now you could say the same for Snape, sure but Snape could defend himself against the Marauders. Choose your fighter: Eleven year old Harry who just learned that magic was a thing and that his parents didn’t die in a car crash vs Thirty-One year old Snape, a teacher. Let me tell you as a person who was bullied by her peers, when my sixth grade math teacher called me stupid, it had a lot greater of an impact than a student pushing me into the lockers.

Teachers are supposed to teach regardless of if they want to fuck your mom or not. It wasn’t only Harry that he was terrible to either.
