Lily Evans was a gorgeous woman. Her emerald green eyes and the milky skin clad in freckles were incomparable. Lily Evans was like the sun, her flaming auburn hair and the mere fact that she was one of the brightest witches in the castle. You knew this quite well, the shine of her hair, the glow of her smile, the softness of her skin. James would never let you forget it. How no one could compete with her. How her beauty was beyond compare.
Yet you couldn't hate her, not how she seemed to know the answer to every question, not how she stood up from the bed neighboring yours looking as radiant as ever, every morning. No, Lily Evans was sweet as honey and the best dormmate you could ask for. You couldn't bring to dislike her even when the man you were sickly in love with raved about her.
James Potter was a beautiful man. His hazel eyes shined big and bright, the strong curves of his face, the curly black hair that bounced as he laughed, and his warm brown skin. James was the definition of sun-kissed. Your families had always been stuck together like glue, you spent your entire life attached at the hip, growing up next to him was a blessing and a curse. His never-ending joy at life, and the jokes that bounced off of his lips, were enough to turn anyone's day around. His smile was so bright you felt like you were staring at the sun itself. James was like the sun, you could never look at him directly, not for too long. As he grew girls threw themselves at his feet, he became a bit of an arrogant brat, but he always made it clear he only had eyes for one girl.
James Potter was in love with Lily Evans— the most perfect woman in the world.
You were such a fool.
"Come off it," Lily laughed as she pushed James his body rocking to the side as he also giggled to himself. They had gotten closer the last couple of months, seemingly out of nowhere. You couldn't help but watch pathetically from the couch on the other side of the common room. You wondered what he was saying to her, his hand covering his mouth as he whispered in her ear. Her eyes shone with humor and joy, and so did his although a bit more mischievous, but that was just James. You couldn't help but clench your hands together, nails digging into your flesh.
"You should stop doing that dollface" Your eyes flickered back to Sirius, who leaned over from the back of the couch, his face awfully close to yours. You couldn't help but hold your breath. His nimble fingers took your hand, loosening your grip on it and massaging the half-moon marks on your hand. You went to turn away, Lily's laugh breaking the silence again and calling for your attention but Sirius turned your head towards him with a single finger, his eyes flickering back and forth between yours and something you couldn't see. "Just keep looking at me don't question it-" You could barely hear what he said, but his lips broke into a shit-eating grin, shiny teeth bared at you. And you couldn't help but laugh, slightly out of nervousness, but mostly because Sirius's antics were always ridiculous. Your laughter made his smile widen.
He placed a small kiss on your temple and said thanks doll, as he let go of your hand and disappeared again.
"He's ridiculous," Remus barely glanced from his parchment, his feather still grinding his essay away. The slight suspicion of what Sirius was up to crawled its way into Remus’s head as he watched the two of you interact, as he watched James's giggles stop from across the room, distracted.
”You’re not wrong there,” you frowned as you turned back to balancing your book and the essay you had been working on, on your lap. “I wonder what’s gotten into him”
Remus just chuckled without looking up. You didn’t hear Lily’s or James’s giggles again.
-
Sirius had started sitting next to you in every class, often replacing James, waving him off with a sit next to Moony, more often than not. This seemed to push James further into Lily's arms, as he sat next to her, she didn't seem to complain. You weren't loving it. Not that you disliked sitting with Sirius, he was more than competent, against all odds. But still.
"May I ask what you're playing at Black?" your words were low as your charms professor droned on and on about something you hadn't really been paying attention to.
"Whatever do you mean sweetheart?" He gave you his familiar toothy grin, eyes dancing with devilishness "Can I not sit next to my dear Y/N? One of the smartest, most beautiful witches our age?" you scrunched your nose, lips suppressing a smile at his antics. "Not to mention one of my best mates?"
"You know what I mean Sirius, you've been awfully touchy lately" His smile widened, and moved his face slightly closer to yours "Not to mention awfully close," this last part came out as a whisper. He really had been close, always a breath away, always pushing his face close to yours. Two nights ago he had smushed himself to read your book along with you, you had been practically cheek to cheek.
Sirius had always been touchy, he was always resting on someone, sprawled on James’s bed, his legs across Peter’s on the couch, asleep on Remus’s shoulder. But this was a little out of character.
Sirius opened his mouth to speak but the large bell signaling you guys were done echoed through the castle. He broke into a grin again, and grabbed his stuff quickly, shoving papers and quills inside his bag unceremoniously.
“hurry up doll,” he muttered as moved to shove your stuff equally as clumsily into your bag and took a hold of your wrist, dragging you. You pushed by your friends, shooting a look of confusion toward Remus. He smiled at you with a wink, as he walked.
Sirius finally stopped and you ran into him.
"For Godric's sake, what is up with you?" You finally got him to let go of your wrist and he closed the door to the empty classroom he had shoved you in. "If this is you trying to seduce me— it definitely isn't working I think we gotta send you to a workshop,"
He snorted as he shook his head, "If anyone is going to a workshop on seducing it's you doll," you crossed your arms and huffed "I'm trying to help you out here-"
"With what Sirius?"
"Making Prongs jealous duh" he looked at you like you were stupid, like it was the most obvious answer in the world. A small twinkle in his eye caught your eye, it was the type you saw when he was about to make something detonate. Maybe this time he wanted to explode your life.
"You're absolutely bonkers" You couldn't believe what he was saying, as if James would ever be jealous of anyone in respect to you.
"You fancy him no?" He twirled his wand around, his grey eyes analyzing your facial expressions. You tried your hardest to keep a poker face, trying and failing to not let him see. Sirius had always been a very observant man.
"It's a lost cause, Sirius," you laughed dryly as you thought of it, "she has me beat"
He frowned, "who?"
"Lily, obviously, are you stupid?" he pulled at a piece of your hair at the insult "You've lived with James since we were 11, he's been utterly smitten with her ever since he met her what do you mean who?"
"I think you're the stupid one, they're just friends" You shook your head, a hand going to massage the bridge of your nose as you thought about what he was saying. "yuh huh, Prongs told me so himself"
"And you believed him?" you scoffed "he says he's over her every four months Sirius I didn't peg you as gullible"
He pulled your hair again and you swatted his hand away. You thought about it, James has said the same thing before, how he's over her once and for all, I, James Potter will be over Lily Evans by the end of the week. It had never worked. Their whispers and their giggles, their closeness over the past couple of months were definitely not friendly. Maybe it was for her but for him? Not a chance.
"I really do think you have a chance with him," his tone was lower now, "I reckon he just needs the right push"
"Sirius even if she isn't into him, even if he didn't like Lily, the most perfect woman on the planet" he frowned "he would still never see me as anything more than what I already am to him," you stared straight into his eyes.
You had thought about it many times of course. You prayed and pleaded to the universe every year that Lily would never reciprocate James's feelings. The second you saw their newfound closeness you felt like dropping to your knees and begging her. Begging her to please Lily don't take him. Lily was a captivating woman, she could easily have her choice in men, and she did, but you felt like you could never love again. You knew it was a lost cause, you had heard her name muttered in his sleep, even when he was napping with his head on your lap. The first time it happened, you hadn't even noticed the tears on your cheeks, nor the ones welled up in your eyes. It had always been clear to you, how easily it would be for her to take him, he wasn't your man. She just had to say yes.
So you cried, time and time again, away from prying or worrying eyes. This was your secret to bear.
You looked at Sirius again, shaking your head. Sirius could feel droplets of regret settle in his stomach as he saw the tears well up in your eyes. He had never seen you cry.
“Fat chance Black”
-
James Potter thought the world of you. He knew he could not live without the curve of your face, the way you smiled at him as if you knew something he didn't. He felt like you could see his soul. You always said he smiled that way too. He wondered if this overlapping trait was a byproduct of a childhood spent together. A childhood spent glued at the hip, one of him being your knight in shining armor when you played, a childhood of sticks and stones that he never let your knees touch. His knees were covered in scrapes and scars that would never fade, but something deep within him never allowed him to let the same happen to you. James Potter could not live without you. He couldn't help but watch how Sirius draped himself over you, and how he hurried to sit next to you. He couldn't help but notice the whispers and the giggles. He couldn't, for everything that was sacred, ignore the closeness. And the fact that you let Sirius press his cheek to yours and whisper merely a breath apart. That part had made his stomach turn.
It wasn't that the two of you weren't close. It was just that James had never seen you be close like that with anybody else. He had spent almost every day of his life by your side. Asleep with your cheeks pressed together, childish limbs all tangled up, you always woke up first and shoved him off the couch. He remembers when you used to hold his hand, his was always dirty with mud and grass, you never cared. You asked him to marry you when you were seven.
He promised you he would.
As you grew up, you continued with this closeness. You had slept in his bed more times than he could count, even at Hogwarts sometimes you'd climb into a corner of his bed. You'd always end up pressed against one another. You would still accidentally nap together on the couches at Potter Manor, or his head on your lap in the common room. And he could admit that Lily Evans had caught his attention, it had been an ongoing thin, and after certain revelations... Deep down he knew.
It had always been you.
James could only stare after you as you set down the hallway with the black-haired boy. A pat on the shoulder from Remus was enough to ground him again. James thought of Sirius's hand around yours.
"Where are they going-"
"Probably to snog in some empty classroom until they undoubtedly get caught," Peter spoke mindlessly as he struggled to untangle his sweater from his messenger bag. James stopped dead in his tracks. He hadn't thought about it. The possibility that the nearness between you and Sirius was something else, that you could be involved more intimately.
He thought of your lips, the soft plump lips that kissed his forehead. The ones that stretched into a smile every time you saw him, the ones that curled involuntarily when he said something stupid. The same ones that had kissed him in spin the bottle merely a year ago. He thought of those same lips kissing Sirius.
He might throw up.
 James stared at Peter wide-eyed
"What? I thought we all assumed they had something going on" he shrugged as he finally separated the two items. "They're all close and disgusting everywhere— just like you and Lily-"
"There's nothing between me and Evans," Remus and Peter raised their eyebrows at the confession.
"You're always together so I just assumed" Peter's words might as well have been a mumble to James, as he continued to think of you and his best friend. How long had this been going on?
“Well there’s nothing”
-
You couldn’t help but think about what Sirius had said. He convinced you to let him do his thing, you don’t even have to do anything. But you couldn’t help but run laps around the thought of James being jealous. He didn’t seem upset with you having to kiss Remus during spin the bottle two months ago.
You thought back to the time you kissed. Your first, and most likely only, kiss with James Potter had been by the graces of an empty bottle of firewhiskey last year. You never failed to remember how he laughed after you kissed, a warm full-chested laugh, the kind he gets when he’s all riled up after outrunning Filch. The kind he gets when you set muggle fireworks in the forbidden forest and have to run away after lighting. You pushed him and he simply smiled widely, as if nothing had happened. It was a sharp contrast to the way he seemed to go all shy after Lily had to kiss him. His face seemed to go red and a small smile pulled at the corner of his lips.
Yes, not at all alike.
You wondered if Lily thought about that kiss as much as James probably did. You couldn’t get the image out of your head, his lips on hers. The lips that pouted at you every time you told him no, the same lips that kissed the top of your head when he passed by behind you and you were too engrossed in your work or broke into a smile every time you saw him. The lips that in childhood had kissed your hand and called you princess. You thought of those lips, kissing Lily.
Probably right now, it was 10 pm and she wasn’t in your dorm, her bed vacant next to yours.
“Why do you look so worried, sweets?” Marlene couldn’t help but notice the way you curled in your bed, the deep frown that had taken hold of your brows. She kneeled next to your bed and pushed the center of your eyebrows, “You’re bound to get wrinkles Y/N stop that”
”I don’t care Marls,” you unclenched your eyebrows nevertheless.
”What’s got you so down?” She leaned her head across her forearms on your bed, her short blonde hair looked windswept, her bottom lip jutting out into a pout. “is it Sirius?”
You moaned in frustration. Marlene Mckinnon was one of your closest friends. She was the first person you got close with at Hogwarts, her bed sat left to yours, she was your closest confidant.
“There’s nothing between me and Sirius-“
”Potter seemed to disagree he wouldn’t stop bombarding Sirius with questions during dinner,” you had decided to hide out in your room instead of going down for dinner, Marlene had set a muffin on your nightstand when she entered.
”What did Sirius say?” you bit your lip
”He just told him it was none of his business— I thought Potter was going to burst a blood vessel right then and there” she laughed as she pushed her finger on your forehead again, smoothing out the frown lines.
”Sirius thinks I have a chance with James,” her mouth did an o “he wants to make him jealous but I think he’s full of rubbish” Marlene had known for a very long time about your futile crush on the boy, it was hard to be as close to someone like Marlene, someone so in tune with people’s feelings without her finding out. She always shot you sorry looks when you'd see him with Lily. You pretended to ignore them.
”I can’t believe I’m saying this but Black finally had a good idea”
You groaned into your pillow, your hands pulling slightly at your hair. “What sort of friends are you guys?” Your words were muffled by your pillow and she laughed again but patted your hair,
”Friends that want you to be happy-“
”Yea well this isn’t the way” your voice got louder and higher pitched, you felt like you'd suffocate on the pillow “I’ll be happy being her bridesmaid when they get married and have three kids and live in a cute little house, and I'll be godmother to their children and be happy that at least I didn’t explode one of my closest friendships because the two of you have lost a couple of screws!” you tried your best to push some humor through your voice, you might've been grasping at straws.
”Who’s getting married?” Lily shot you a playful look from the doorway, you hadn’t heard her come in. You wanted to disappear into your sheets, you couldn’t even look at her right now. She groaned as she dropped her pile of books onto her bed.“Is Sirius giving you trouble? He seems so taken with you-“
You groaned as you buried your face into the pillow again, wanting nothing more than for the ground to swallow you. Marlene found the whole thing more than hilarious, her whole body shook as she laughed and she wiped her eyes of the wetness that had formed at the corners.
“I’m going to kill him-“
”What? You guys have been so smitten lately I just thought-“ Lily’s face twisted in thought, nevertheless the edges of her lip curled upwards
”Nothing is going on between me and anybody,” You got up swiftly, a bad mood settling in your stomach like a pile of rocks. “I’ll just see you later-" You grabbed a sweater, that you were pretty sure was one of the boys, it would not help you hide in the darkness of the castle but hopefully it would provide some warmth. You bent down to take your shoes from beside the door and walked out without further comment.
“Was it me?”
“I fear it might’ve been Lils”
“Hush-“
”Don’t tell me to hush Moony— you’re stepping on my toes” Sirius whined in a whisper
”Prongs you need a bigger cloak”
Sirius peered over James’s shoulder as the speckled boy opened the map, the footsteps at the end of the hall seemed to get nearer
“oh” James felt a swirl of emotions in his chest,
”Who is it Prongs-“ Peter barely managed to squeak out before James answered
”It’s just Y/N” the marauders huddled around the map now, watching the banner with your name circle the corner and float down the hall they were hiding in. “What d’you reckon she’s doing up-“
”Shhhh she’s getting close-“ They could see you now, James's brown sweater covering you, one of your shoes untying as you padded down the hall. Tears were in free flow now, they could see even through the darkness, the splotches on your face, and the tracks of tears down the curve of your face. You wiped them furiously with the edge of the jumper.
Something inside James warmed, all he wanted to do was close the distance. He looked briefly at Sirius, whose eyebrows were furrowed in worry. Sirius always hated seeing people he cared about cry. James wondered if he had done something to you. If there truly was something between you and Sirius.
You had well passed them now, but the marauders could still hear your sniffles from down the hall.
”Merlin-"
"hold the bag Moons" Sirius pushed the small bag of dung bombs onto Remus's arms and slipped out from under the cloak. Sirius couldn't help but smirk as James protested, whispering furiously to get back here.
Sirius started running then, to catch up with you, his light jogs and tall legs allowing him to catch up with you quickly. Your heart shot up as he got closer and you could hear him near you, quickly dying down when you turned to see the dark-haired boy behind you. Sirius hoped James could hear from here.
"Whatcha up to doll?"
"Godric Sirius what is wrong with you-" you placed your hand on your chest, feeling like your heart might fall out of it at any moment. You decided not to question where he came from, you just hoped the rest of his group, and James were far away.
James couldn't help himself, he was desperate to know what the two of you were talking about. So he herded the other two down the hallway, enough of a distance that you wouldn't notice the shuffling, Sirius definitely did, but close enough that he could see you clearly. The soft, homely mess of your hair, the tired curve of your eyes. He knew you were nervous, the way you played with your fingers and rocked your body, your leg. He could hear your honeyed voice, your tone close enough to the one you'd mumble to him with when you were about to pass out in his bed.
"Many things actually, I fear it all boils down to my mother-"
"You're so utterly insufferable"
"Yet you love me,"
"Sadly, I guess I love you" James felt the knot tie in his throat at your words, he tried to recall when you had said those words to him. Sirius smiled at your words, his fingers pulling at a strand of your hair. "oi watch it—"
He hoped James was ready to blow a fuse. Actually, he knew he was.
"Marlene agrees with you by the way," You softly swung your foot, hitting his own rather softly "I suspect you've both lost it"
"Nah, great minds think alike doll, you just gotta believe in me" he got closer now, pulling you into a hug. "Will you tell me why tears were falling down your pretty face?" He slightly rocked you, his cheek smushed against the top of your head. Sirius naturally would've comforted you regardless, he hated nothing more than seeing his friends cry. But the thought of James watching and stewing in his unexplored jealousy made him giggle in his head.
James's face was twisting in a way that was unfamiliar even to him. Bitter and negative feelings weren't exactly part of his repertoire.  Remus tried his best to stifle a laugh.
"Lily just came in, while I was talking to Marls about the whole thing and I guess," you sighed loudly, looking up trying to make the newly formed tears that gathered in your eyes absorb back. James always thought you and Lily were pretty close, what could you possibly tell Marlene that you didn't feel well telling Lily? Why hadn't you told him? "I don't know Sirius I just lost it, she started talking about you and me and I lost it, I wanted to scream at her" James could feel his blood boil, Sirius had done something. He knew Sirius had. You buried your face in his chest again "My frustrations aren't her fault,"
"I know sweetheart, I'm sorry" Sirius continued patting your hair, he worried now, about what James could hear. He felt bad now, that he knew they were invading your privacy. "I feel guilty-"
"No Sirius it isn't your fault"
"I feel like I'm just opening up the wound, I don't want to give you false hope-" James felt like a teapot ready to explode with pressure.
He pulled the coat from over the three boys, revealing their presence in the hallway. You felt like you were going to drown in your shame.
"Sirius Black you're a bastard-" James closed the distance quickly, going straight for a tackle rather dramatically. Sirius pushed you away just in time. As the two boys wrestled on the floor, James continued to call him names, the idiot's and how dare you's flew unceremoniously. All Sirius could do was laugh
"I knew you'd do something to'er you good for nothing-" James was shaking him now, ignoring the fact that Sirius kept laughing, "I knew you'd make her cry-"
"James he didn't make me cry," your tears flowed down your cheeks again, you felt shame and embarrassment swim in your chest. You cried because you knew you had to come clean, Sirius wouldn't do it for you. There weren't many excuses he could come up with right now. You could feel yourself sweating cold, like the morning dew on leaves, embarrassment stuck to you.
You couldn't help but take a good hard look at him now. At James, who looked at you with his stupid hazel eyes the size of the sun, who clutched at his best friend's shirt collar. At his brother's, for you. How brashly he had swooped, sweet James who always came to your rescue, even when you didn't need it. When you were barely 7 and ran around his large yard, the rows of flowers and bushes his mother grew were gorgeous and they seemed the height of buildings, the thorns will cut you, I'll get you a flower Y/N. He had always been your knight, the shield of comfort where you hid from the rest of the world, the gentle solace to return to when life got too hard or people teased too intensely. Those people often woke up with apple-green hair thanks to him.
James was the noblest man you knew, with a heart twice his height.
You had fallen in love with him for this exact reason.
"It's you James" James felt like someone dropped him in the middle of the black lake. You shook your head, a sad smile carving your expression.
"I made you cry?" he sounded 7 again, innocent and afraid that you'd be hurt. His voice was soft and traveled faintly through the otherwise quiet hallway. Remus and Peter seemed to be holding their breath.
"I love you," James dropped his grip on Sirius now, who hit his back painfully against the stone floor with a groan. All he could manage was to look at you, his weight still resting between Sirius and his knee on the floor. "but I know I can't compete with Lily and that's alright, I reckon one day it'll pass."
You took his silence to heart, Remus couldn't help but shoot you a worried look, his brows furrowed the way they always did when he could tell your heart hurt like he could hear it clenching. You gave them one last smile, trying to wipe the sticky fingers of embarrassment from your being as you began to walk away, praying that nothing stood between you and the common room.
"You're an idiot Prongs-" Sirius pushed James off, and the brown-haired boy rolled to the floor, his back against the cool stone as he thought of you.
”She loves me-“
”We all heard her,”
“Shut up Moony-“
”Well she doesn’t know does she-“ The boys looked at Peter like he had grown a second head. “That you love her.”
James groaned from the ground the skin of his cheeks feeling hot.
“I reckon you oughta go after her” Peter said as he put the map in his back pocket, the three boys stood around to James looking at him from at ground.
James buried his face in his hands. You seemed so defeated, so sad that you loved him. How could that ever be a sad thing?
“In a surprising turn of events Wormtail’s right, move it Prongs-“ Sirius kicked James in the thigh, causing the boy on the floor to jump into action. He stumbled up, looking comically disheveled. He opened his mouth to speak to which Remus told him to Just go!
So James ran, he ran through the hallways so fast he thought he’d start levitating. It wasn’t hard for him, to catch up, not with the length of his legs or the pace he had set, in fact, he found you fairly quickly, yelling your name down the hall. You yelped as he skirted to a stop right into your arms, colliding with you with little force.
”You’re going to get us caught it’s after hours already-“
“I don’t care-“ he pulled you closer to his chest, his arms completely around you now “I had to tell you, and truly that’s just the thing I don’t care whether it’s morning or the middle night or truly any other time of day hell it could be in the middle of Charms-“
“you’re not making sense James-“
”Oh, right” He took a deep breath, but the silence lingered, his hand now skirting around the hair that framed your face, almost touching but not quite. His face was so close to yours that you could see the flecks of a light brown in the underlayers of his irises. “I just meant to say— to tell you that, well I love you too”
”I thought you and Lily-“ He got closer, if it was even possible, his lips ghosting over yours now, waiting for you. His hand remained steady at the edge of your jaw.
“Enough about Evans yea?” you closed the distance, his lips had felt like a magnet pulling you in.
Kissing James felt different than kissing any other boy. It even felt different than the first time you kissed. This was sweeter, this wasn't under the scrutinizing gaze of your friends or the excuse of an empty bottle. This was intimate and filled with want, his soft plump lips seemed to fit perfectly with yours. The grip of your waist tightened and brought you closer to him as his kiss turned hungrier, and your hands traveled from his chest to his unruly locks of hair.
You finally parted with a sigh, a happy one you felt like. Satisfied.
He pressed his forehead against you humming in content.
"I'm confused-"
"Lily and I are just friends now, she's not exactly into me, is she? Or men in general I reckon but regardless" He looked into your eyes, his hands now cupping your face and adoration pouring from his gaze. "It's always been you, I love you"
"I love you too, you twat-"

I hate to do asks but like just imagine this! At hogwarts there is a group that’s kinda like a polyamorous relationship but just for s*x and it’s like slytherin and gryffindor students and they decided they wanted someone from like a year younger so they start to slowly talk to innocent reader to get them comfortable around them before starting to get touchy with her (maybe she is a hufflepuff? That’s my house)
i’m a hufflepuff too 🫶🏻 thanks for feeling comfy enough to send me this ask if you don’t usually like doing that!

part 2
────── ☾ ──────
Everyone knew about it.
Even though it wasn’t spoken of in the presence of the students not involved, everyone knew about it.
It wasn’t exactly a polyamorous relationship, because a relationship implies more than just physicality, which is what it was. It was purely for sex.
It was started, of course, by Sirius Black. He had a casanova reputation, and after a while, he started looking to the same group of girls when he was in the mood. His best friend, Remus, unknowingly slept with quite a few of the same girls, and a lot of those girls slept with each other.
James didn’t have as much sex as his two best friends, but he quickly became involved. After a while, a group was established.
All of the students involved knew one another well, and were all somewhat close friends that had not romantic desires toward one another, but unashamed lust. It was a sex positive group, and was essentially just a group of students who fucked each other whenever.
Despite the unofficial, non-relationship standing, they all agreed to only have sex with each other. If they wanted to add someone into the group, they all had to agree to it. So, in a way, it was a relationship, but, in a way, it wasn’t. There wasn’t really a label on what it was, but it worked for them.
Everyone in the group was in the same year at Hogwarts, so they all related to each other well.
However, a few of them began to crave something new- someone not so in line with everyone.
Everyone sat in the Gryffindor common room at an hour late enough that most others were asleep. James sat on the floor, his back resting between Dorcas’s legs as she played with his hair, tying small braids from the curly strands.
“We wanna bring something up,” James said.
“We’re doing we’s now?” Sirius scolded, taking a drag of his cigarette.
“I just mean, there’s something Dorcas and I talked about, and now I’m talking about it with all of you,” James clarified.
“Fair enough, what’s up?” Mary asked.
“I’m wondering how everyone here would feel about inviting someone new into the group.”
Everyone looked around the room at one another, attempting to gage the energy of everyone else before speaking their own opinions.
“I vote we should bring in someone younger,” Evan added.
“Younger like what? Like wouldn’t that be weird?” Remus asked.
“No, idiot, like a year under us,” Evan retorted.
“Where the fuck are we gonna find someone a year younger than us who would be down to do this?” Mary questioned.
Sirius flicked a spark off of his cigarette, clearing his throat and sitting forward a bit. “I have someone in mind.”
“Has everyone been trying to scope out prospects? Am I the only one who hasn’t thought about inviting in anyone new?” Alecto asked.
There was another shared look, and everyone shrugged. They had all thought about a change.
“Who’d you have in mind, Sirius?” Dorcas brought the attention back to his statement.
“There’s this hufflepuff a year below us, seems super innocent though,” Sirius said, taking a quick hit of smoke, “blushes every time I look at her.”
“Is she hot?” Remus asked.
“No, I’m proposing we all fuck her because she’s not hot,” Sirius snapped, his voice laced with evident sarcasm.
Sirius told them your name, and a few of them already knew who you were.
“She’s super cute!” Dorcas exclaimed, “I’m super down for that. Anyone disagree?”
Everybody was on board with the idea.
────── ☾ ──────
“Go on, then.”
James turned to Sirius and Remus, saying, “why does it have to be me? You go do it.”
“Fine,” Sirius replied, “Remus, go talk to her.”
Remus threw his hands up. “What happened to being set on making James do it?”
Sirius shrugged his shoulders. “She’s not gonna be sitting at that table forever. You nervous or somethin’?”
“No,” Remus quickly replied, “this is just, I don’t know, weird.”
“How’s it weird?”
“Because I’m about to go interrupt the poor girl in order to talk to her with the intention of later asking her to fuck me and all my friends,” Remus explained, “I don’t know, it’s just a weird thing to do.”
“Fuckin’ hell, I can’t stand you two,” Sirius said, flicking a spark off of his cigarette and walking over to you. He sat down across the table from you, watching you intently as you scribbled notes off a textbook.
You didn’t look up because you didn’t even consider that he was sitting near you for a reason.
“Hey.”
You looked up, and Sirius was looking directly at you. The familiar tint of red crept into your cheeks. “Hi.”
He took a drag of his cigarette, kicking his feet up onto the table. “Seen you around quite a bit.”
You couldn’t help but stare at his lips as they wrapped around the cigarette.
“We do go to the same school,” you quipped, smiling to show it was lighthearted.
Sirius smirked, happy you were responding well to him. “I usually don’t get on with anyone that isn’t in my year.”
“Why talk to me then?” you asked.
“Don’t know,” Sirius said, swinging his feet off the table and leaning his torso over the table a bit, “guess somethin’ just caught my eye.”
He knew his flirtations would make you blush, and they did just that. You smiled as you tilted your head back down, pretending to look over your notes in an attempt to calm yourself.
Sirius’s smile only widened watching you squirm under his gaze. “Whatcha studying?”
“Fwoopers,” you responded, “but understanding seems to evade me sometimes.”
“You know who’s super smart? My friend James.”
“Wh-“ before you could even stop him, Sirius signaled over James, who approached you with Remus in tow.
“This is James, James, say hi.”
James sighed. “I’m not a dog, Sirius, unlike some people.”
“Funny,” Sirius retorted, “do you think you could help my new friend with some Care of Magical Creatures work?”
“Oh, I don’t- I’m all good, I-“
“Course,” James lit up, sitting down directly next to you, “lemme see.”
He pulled the textbook toward him, familiarizing himself with what you were reading as Remus took a seat next to Sirius.
You watched a few girls walk past your table, shooting you dirty looks when they noticed that the boys were otherwise occupied with you. Sirius, Remus, and James has grown to be quite popular, and them speaking with a random, younger Hufflepuff was odd. Remus noticed your shift in energy.
“You alright?” he asked.
“Yeah, I just- I’m a year under you, I can’t do your schoolwork for you or anything.”
Sirius furrowed his brows in confusion. “Why would we want you to do our schoolwork?”
“I don’t know, is that not why you’re all talking to me?”
James diverted his attention from your textbook, looking at you in understanding. He felt a pant of guilt for springing everyone on you at once, and a pang of sadness for the fact you didn’t think they would actually want to talk to you just because.
“You forget James is top of his class,” Sirius said, but James didn’t think the mood called for quips. He shot Sirius a look, taking over the conversation.
“We’re sorry if we came off a little strong,” he started, “we all just wanted to say hey. We see you around a lot and think you’re cute, it’s as simple as that.”
“Oh,” you said, suddenly turning weak.
Sirius was smiling and relaxing back into the chair, amused to high hell with how innocent and blushy you were from such a small little compliment. He was so happy he suggested you.
────── ☾ ──────
The following day, Remus and Lily caught you walking down a corridor during your free period.
“Shouldn’t you be in class?” you asked, directing the question toward Remus as they caught up to you.
“Didn’t feel like going,” Remus said, nonchalant.
“You can’t just not go,” you laughed, assuming he wasn’t serious.
“Be careful with this one,” Lily said to you, gesturing to Remus, “he’s a horrible influence. You wouldn’t have caught me dead skipping a lecture last year. He can be very persuasive.”
Something about the way she said it made you swallow hard, suddenly extremely aware of your presence and appearance.
“I’m Lily,” she finally introduced herself, throwing a piece of hair behind her shoulder. She was beautiful, and you became self conscious in her vicinity.
You didn’t respond, just smiled, so she took the opportunity to continue. “My friends and I are all headed to Hogsmeade later. You’re welcome to join if you want!”
“You’d want me to join?” you questioned.
“Don’t be silly, why not? Remus will be there too, and a ton of other really cool people.”
You contemplated your options. You had no reason to believe that Remus and Lily were not genuine in their invitation, and you were excited at the prospect of new friends. “Sure,” you responded.
Lily squealed and gave you a small hug. “I’ll go tell everyone you’re coming!”
“Why would you need-“
“Bye!”
Lily scrambled off down the hallway, leaving you alone with Remus.
“She tends to get excited,” Remus explained, “she’s the friendliest people-person I know. Can get quite annoying, actually.”
You giggled at his statement, and he took the opportunity to brush his hand against yours. You took it as an accident, so you didn’t even react, but then he intertwined his fingers with your own.
You didn’t retract your hand, but instead looked to where yours met his, and then looked at him. He continued looking forward, walking alongside you and not acknowledging what he did. He wanted to see if you would pull away on your own, but you didn’t. It felt comfortable.
You got ready for your trip with your new friends alone, since all of them were in Gryffindor or Slytherin and stuck to their respective common rooms. You caught Lily and Mary outside of their common room, and you walked with them down to Hogsmeade.
Now that you were outside of the castle walls, you noticed a shift in how everyone acted with one another. They were all very touchy, making sexual innuendos at each other and allowing themselves to have fun without restriction.
You followed as they immediately went to Honeydukes. Alecto informed you that Sirius had a serious sweet tooth, and always made everyone go there as the very first stop on their trips. No one complained, though, because they all wanted to anyway.
As you all exited the shop, Dorcas made a show of sucking her lollipop, staring Evan in the eyes as she did so. You felt your cheeks go hot, almost feeling like you saw something you shouldn’t have.
The next stop was the Three Broomsticks, and James saw your confusion as you reached the entrance.
“You okay?” he asked you.
“Yeah, just- didn’t you all just get a whole bunch of sweets?”
James laughed, “and?”
You smiled toward him. “Fair enough.”
“We don’t like to shy away from the pleasure of life, darling,” Dorcas said, imitating a very english accent. Everyone laughed in unison at her impression.
You all crowded around a table, and you remained silent, your hands in your lap for fear of obstructing the space Sirius had to your left and Mary had to your right.
You listened intently as everyone joked and talked about their current courses and professors, when suddenly a question was directed at you.
“So tell me, which professor do you like the least? I just know it’s Professor Bins. I mean, you’re crazy if you don’t say Bins,” Lily said.
“If I had to pick, sure,” you said.
“He’s never done anything to drive you crazy?”
“I mean, there was this one time he assigned so much work over the holiday that someone threw a desk out the window,” you started.
“Wait what? What exactly happened?” Lily asked, enthusiastic that you were finally opening up.
“It was just all textbook readings and analysis, especially about the Ministry and MACUSA and all that, and he said it had to be done by the time we came back from holiday. A few students protested, and he just got more and more angry until someone stood up, picked up a desk, and chucked it out the window. It happened so fast I don’t think anyone had the time to levitate it before it hit the ground.”
Everyone chuckled at the story, and you felt at ease now that you were becoming more and more comfortable with the group.
“And did he…”
“Faint from sheer stress? Oh absolutely,” you added, smiling as you spoke, your posture adjusting to mimic your growing comfort.
You didn’t catch it, but Sirius and Remus exchanged a look, nodding their heads upward at one another as Sirius gently placed his hand on your thigh.
Your body jolted a slight bit as you flinched, startled by the unfamiliar feeling. Sirius immediately pulled his hand away, but you turned to him, and spoke low enough that only he could hear. “It’s okay, you can leave it there.”
Sirius put his hand back, resting it low on your thigh. As time went on, and you continued talking, he began to rub his thumb on your leg. It felt unfamiliar, but soothing and intimate.
Of course you were attracted to the people at the table: they were all insanely attractive and kind to you, but you hadn’t felt this feeling before. Someone was touching you, and so intimately, and it was doing something to you.
Sirius began to slowly creep his hand upward, rubbing your inner thigh under your skirt, only a few inches away from your most sensitive area.
You shuddered and your breathing hitched in your throat, but you didn’t stop him.
You were suddenly snapped back to reality when you noticed everyone watching you. You looked around the table, slightly embarrassed and slightly confused.
“We have a proposition for you,” James said.

she and james had been friends for as long as she could remember. their parents had been friends throughout their time at hogwarts, meaning that the pair were naturally going to grow up as neighbours and as best friends.
this had lead the pair to create several traditions amongst themselves, outside of their regular friend groups. which is what had brought them to the three broomsticks, each with a stein of butter beer in front of them as they were deep in conversation, as they escaped the heavy snowfall outside.
"if you were an animal, there is no way that you would be a stag. not a chance," she laughed at the boy, who was proudly declaring himself as the forrest-dwelling animal, if he were to take an animalistic form.
"oh, i absolutely am," he nodded enthusiastically with a smile, taking another swig of his drink. she gave him an unsure look before the pair erupted into loud laughter together.
they continued to joke with one another back and forth, ignoring the waves of students that moved through the establishment as they sat with each other for hours.
however, they eventually had left the three broomsticks, arm in arm, walking through hogsmeade against the harsh cold. their jokes hadn't stopped, taking to mocking the isolated strings of conversations they had caught, and continuing them in funny voices, imaging where it would go.
he ruffled the top of her head playfully, shifting her beanie as she swatted his hand away and jokingly scolding him for it.
"jamie!!" she affectionately spoke the nickname as she faked her annoyance, his face softened ever so slightly at it's use.
"y/nnnnn," he dragged her name out in the same tone before they both burst into laughter.
james and y/n where in their own little bubble together as jokes turned into almost shameless flirting, without the eager eyes of their friends.
that was until the boy caught sight of a bright head of hair which highly contrasted the white snow dusting the ground. it was lily. the red headed gryffindor who had the curly haired boy fawning over her since they had all been in their second year.
he pulled away from y/n as he called out to lily, who whipped her head around at the echo of her name. her friends following her eye line as well, rolling their eyes at the overly eager boy and openly expressing their distain toward the boy.
meanwhile, his best friend had been left in the dust. she practically had whiplash from how swiftly james had left her side, hollering out to lily evans and her friends, desperate for her affections.
she stopped in her spot, moving out of the way from the small flow of foot traffic passing through. from afar, she watched her boy try to sweep lily off of her feet, his face beet red as he spoke to her. part of the girl found humour in the fact that the red head's friends were rolling their eyes in disapproval.
moving to a nearby bench, she continued to watch the ordeal. she analysed the girl's body language, and came to a swift conclusion. lily cared for him, in the same lovelorn, irrevocable way in which james cared for her. and the same way which y/n felt for james.
and james, he was eating up all the attention the gryffindor girl was giving him for once. a stark contrast to the immediate rejections that he was used to receiving from her.
frankly, it was hurtful for y/n to watch. her heart felt almost crushed, as she pushed off of the bench and turning her back on the scene, brushing the remnants of snow off her body whilst she walked away.

Pairing: Lily Evans x fem! Reader
Warnings: smut, fingering, infidelity (rip James lol)
A/n: the amount of Lily fics on this app is disastrously small, which is, I think, a crime against humankind. Also, it may look like Lils is mean here but it’s not what I intended, I promise😥
- Shhh, darling, gotta be quiet f’me, okay? Don’t want others to hear what a naughty little girl you are, do we? - Lily tutted, a charming smile curling her lush lips as she fucked her fingers in and out of your sopping pussy ferociously, making your eyes roll and toes curl in tingling pleasure.
You nodded your head weakly, pressing a hand to your mouth, trying so so hard to suppress all the little sounds trying to break past your lips - an impossible task considering the way Lily pinned your with her chubby fingered you so viciously. Wet slippery sounds filled the crammy space of the girls’ dormitories, making you blush even deeper; Lily’s free hand came up to fondle your bare breasts, playing with supple flesh and twisting your nipples almost painfully, bringing you closer to your orgasm.
Your eyes fixated on Lily’s full breasts peeking so teasingly out of the low-cut of her black t-shirt, jiggling so prettily with the way her arm moved rapidly while fucking your greedy pussy. You recognized the familiar tingle settling in a pit of your belly, stomach tensing in sweet anticipation of nearing orgasm.
- Lily, ‘m gonna cum, - you barely whined, head spinning from heat and overwhelming pleasure.
- Cum for me baby, come on, - Lily encouraged softly, curling her nimble fingers a slightest bit, hitting that one sweet spot inside of you, surely sending you right over the edge.
And with that a dam broke. Your body spasmed and trembled ferociously with mind-numbing pleasure penetrating deeply into every muscle, so you had to bite down on your own fingers to subside all the wanton moans treating to spill from your bitten lips. Your eyes shut tight and the only thing your could concentrate on was Lily’s gentle voice, guiding you right through your orgasmic delirium, and surely bringing you back to reality.
Heavy footsteps could be heard nearing the room you were currently occupying, and by the loud boisterous laughter you could tell that it was no other but infamous James Potter. Lily cursed under her breath, pulling your tank top, that was bunched under your armpits just enough to reveal your tits, back down, throwing Marlene’s heavy duvet over your lower half. She made a quick job picking up your long dismissed shorts and panties from the floor and shoving them underneath said duvet, hiding your clothes there.
Mere moments later a door bursted open, hitting the wall with a loud ‘bang’ followed by James’ quiet ‘ooops, sorry’. Gryffindor seeker looked around a messy room, his pretty curls bouncing every time his head moved, glasses sitting low on his nose.
- Lils, dear, here you are, - shouted James cheerfully, nearing red-haired girl in two wide steps and wrapping a bing arm around her mid-section. He places a chaste kiss on her temple before averting his attention from his girlfriend to you, slumping against numerous pillows piled on your bed, still panting heavily. - Y/n, love, you allright?
Curly-haired boy let go of his girlfriend, advancing you and feeling your forehead with the back of his hand, tutting at the unnatural warmth underneath his skin.
- I don’t think she is, she’s burning hot, - tutted Lily in feigned compassion. James nodded in agreement, retreating his hand from your face, a look of sincere worry etched on his handsome face.
- Y/n, it’s may, how did you manage to get a cold? - he chided softly, not really knowing how to help you. You only shrugged weakly, giving him a small smile.
- I think she just needs some rest. She’ll be as good as new after some sleep, won’t you, dear? - Lily inquired and you nodded fervently, agreeing with ginger-haired girl animatedly. - Jamie, can you leave us alone, so I can help this poor thing into shower? - she added, referring to a bespectacled boy who was standing completely lost and clueless in the middle of the room.
- You sure? Maybe I can help with something? I have these really cool cough drops mom sent me, I can go fetch ‘em, - James offered and you felt a little pang in your chest for being a reason why him and Lily couldn’t work out. Red-haired reassured him, that you didn’t have cough and she there was an effective antipyretic potion in her trunk, softly urging him to leave. James only nodded his head and hurried to withdraw from the room. - Get better soon, dear, - he said before shutting the heavy door behind himself, leaving you two alone again.
You met Lily’s green eyes - they were crinkling with amusement and something you couldn’t quite decipher - something sly and playful. She neared you in in a few quiet steps, sitting herself next to you on a soft bed, one hand came to rest on the side of your neck, thumb rubbing the angle of your jaw softly. You looked at her bashfully, eyes shining and cheeks deeply flushed from your recent orgasm paired a possibility of being almost caught by Lily’s boyfriend. Red-haired sight softly, moving her hand down your rapidly pulsing jugular and then heaving chest, fingertips ghosting over your hard fabric-clad nipples teasingly.
- Oh dear, you do look like you need some help. Maybe with my mouth this time, huh?

Tumblr media
There were four simple rules that Y/N needed to follow since she could talk and understand what she was being told.
The first one was that she could never, ever in her whole life disobey her father – he was the only one who cared for her, for her future, for her dignity and he was the only one who wished to see her become a strong and powerful witch; that’s what he claimed, at least.
The second one was that she was not allowed to ever question the Dark Lord’s word – her father said that Tom Riddle, his old friend, was the one who told him to keep her, to raise her and protect her as a father should. In other words, she has a dad because a bald snake-looking man said she was worth the effort.
The third one, one with a great significance, was that she should not interact with Mudbloods more than necessary – which was, in her opinion, pretty confusing, given the fact that Voldemort himself was a Half-blood. But, she could not put that problem to a question because she would break rule number one and rule number two at the same time.
The last one was simple – don’t be a disappointment, don’t ruin the family’s image.
And that’s how she lived her life until her first year at Hogwarts. That’s when she started to disobey her dad by giving up on rule number three and talk to all her colleagues – nothing more than acquaintances, though, because the other Purebloods could mock her for doing so. She learned that everyone should be treated equally, no matter the blood that was running in their veins – they were all wizards, after all. That’s a reason she got close to James Potter last year, in her fourth one. The older boy was shocked to see a Slytherin act that politely towards a first-year Muggleborn Gryffindor and jokingly asked her if she was sick. He said she was not like the others. He said she was quite nice.
They had a few other accidental meetings in the hallway, and without realizing Y/N started to get nervous around him; her heart would beat faster when she’d hear his voice in the Great Hall and her cheeks would burn when she’d wake up from another dream about him – that was her first crush ever. While at the final party of the year, where only a few Slytherins were invited – it was hosted by the Marauders, after all – Y/N was kissed by James. The party was at the end, she wanted to leave and he offered to walk her back to the Dungeons. It was the best night of her life, she finally felt seen, heard, liked. Maybe it was because of their encounters, maybe because James could see behind her social mask or maybe it was simply because of all the firewhiskey and beer, but he kissed her. He really kissed her, right at the door of the Slytherin’s common room. He grabbed her waist, cupped her cheek and even groaned against her lips when she gathered the courage to put her hands in his dark curly hair. He smiled at her and wished her a great summer, and then walked off backwards, still watching her.
That’s why she was excited all summer to get back at Hogwarts. That’s why she was determined to learn more about Muggleborns, to change her life and morals. That’s why she started fighting her father when he’d open the topic of marriage – James was, of course, a Pureblood, as Cyrus wished for his only child, but he was also a blood traitor. She never told her dad about him, but she wouldn’t even once let him get the idea that she was willing to marry one of his friends’ sons. They were all pricks, and she was only thinking about James.
That’s why her heart broke on the train – he wouldn’t even look at her. That’s why now, a few days after, she still looks like the train hit her. That’s what she thought, at least, because everyone else complimented her new jewelry, her hair, her nail polish, every stupid and insignificant thing. Her eyes had dark circles under them, her skin felt strange and her appetite was nowhere to be found.
“Don’t you like the porridge?” asks Evan and points to her bowl.
His sister, Pandora, gets her head out of the tarot book and scoff in disapproval. “Could you mind your business, Evan?” She should be at the Ravenclaw table, but she really likes to spent time with them.
Y/N only smiles to them and pushes away the bowl. “You can have it, Evan, I’m not that hungry,” she winks in his direction and starts writing on her parchments again.
Because that’s what she does – that’s the only way not to look at the other side of the room, at the Gryffindor table. She studies over her Potions’ notes, her first class from that day. Professor Slughorn announced another meeting of the Slug Club and her new goal was to get invited, again. There are a few girls that get to be invited to those dinners, and Y/N was one of them but Horace liked to see new faces from now and then.
“You really want to go,” mutters Bruce Mulciber, looking at her with a bored expression. Edmund Avery hits his arm in a not-that-subtle manner and smiles at her widely.
“Have I ever told you how beautiful you are while studying, Y/N? So smart,” the boy says and winks in her direction.
“How disgusting,” Pandora whispers at their behavior. Y/N nods her head and smiles politely to Edmund, while wishing she could slam his head to the table until she’d see blood. But that would definitely against any existing rule – both Hogwarts’ and her father’s.
She gets up and starts gathering her belongings, taking a last sip from her tea cup. “I have to go, guys. Evan, I’ll see you in Potions, right?”
“Yeah, I have to wait for Regulus, though,” he informs her and grabs her porridge bowl, smiling thankful in her way.
Y/N laughs and grabs her parchments, drinking the remaining tea in her cup. While at it, a body slams into hers and the contact makes her to drop the tea on her notes, her white shirt and her shoes. And there’s silence.
“Sorry,” says in a blank tone no one else than Regulus Black. His uniform is perfect, his hair is put in place and he even got the chance to get away from Y/N before any drop could be on him. “I didn’t see you there.”
She wants to shout. She wants to scream at him, grab her wand and curse him. She wants him to be as embarrassed as she is now, wet and watched by the entire dining hall. But she can’t. She got her father’s temper but she learned from him how to handle it. She needs to handle it.
“Regulus,” she says in a happy tone, “Evan was waiting for you,” it’s the only thing that comes out of her mouth as she looks only at him. Not at her housemates, her friends, or even over her shoulder at the boy who froze there with his friends, who are laughing at her.
“Yeah, I know,” he mutters. “Let’s go, Rosier,” he demands in a now friendly voice. “Horace is waiting in the classroom; he probably wants to talk about the Slug Club.”
That’s when Y/N forgets about everything and in the silence of her mind there is only Regulus’ voice. He probably wants to talk about the Slug Club. Still with a smile on her face, she gets her robes from the bench, wave goodbye to her friends and starts walking away. She cannot resists the temptation and looks at the Gryffindor table. He’s there, with Sirius on his left, laughing with his friends.  After she leaves the Great Hall there’s a feeling of pressure on her whole body. Was he laughing of her? He could never, right? She was quite nice, after all.
Before entering the Potions class, she stood there for a few minutes, calming down. Now she’s putting on her dark robes, the silver snake shining on the green badge. As she’s buttoning it up, the steps of her colleagues echo through the dark corridor.
“There you are, Y/N,” sights Evan. He’s followed by Barty Crouch Jr and Regulus, who watches her like she’s sick with a blood curse. “You went ahead without looking back.”
“Oh, yeah, I got to make sure my robes cover the whole…” she looks only for a second at Regulus, “tea accident.” She says it while chuckling, like it was just a silly little accident which could happen to anyone. But not anyone would get away clean like he did after that kind of an accident.
“And yet you look worse than before,” Regulus speaks and his eyes points at her now clearly stained shirt. “Let’s go, boys, I’m sure Y/N knows how to dress herself,” he scoffs and smiles to her.
The other two boys follow him along and she sits there, blood boiling in her veins. Her anger is born because of two persons – her father, because he’d kill her if she was arguing with another Pureblood in public, especially Orion Black’s son, and Regulus Black, for being such and arse.
Horace Slughorn, however, didn’t seem to be that preoccupied by her entrance. He greeted her and went on with his lesson and for Merlin knows what time she finds herself thinking about Regulus, and how she’d strangle him with the tie around his neck if given the opportunity. Regulus has that power, to awake something in her that only wants to hurt him, to make him suffer and get out those cold eyes – maybe she could make a pair of earrings out of them. He was right besides her, sitting with Evan while she tried to ignore Barty’s jokes about their professor. Sometimes, she wishes so much to be away from them – she feels suffocated to be near them at school and also at home, when her father would take her with him at different events, but there’s no way that she could cross his word. You will act nice towards any pureblood kid, they are the only ones that deserve it – they are you only equals.
“That’s all for today, my dear students,” announces Slughorn and claps his hands together. “You have to write an essay about today’s lesson, in order for me to see that everything was very clear.”
She puts away her quill and ink and starts rolling the parchments that she took notes on. Barty plays drums in the wood of the table and Evan hits him behind his head with his notes. The two of them laugh and she can’t help but her Regulus’ scoff at their silly action.
“Oh, Mister Black, Miss Lestrange, could you stay for a little? I have something to tell you,” Slughorn says happily and goes over to his desk at the front of class.
“Yes, professor,” they both say and get up. They both also look at each other, eyes burning with annoyance.
“We’ll see you outside, ok?” asks Evan.
“Go on, don’t wait,” is the only answer he receives from Regulus before he goes first to Slughorn, Y/N right after him.
“Oh, my two favorite students!” the professor says as they remain alone in the classroom. “I hope the first days where excellent, kids.”
“Of course, sir,” Y/N smiles and Slughorn can’t help but lays his eyes a little longer on her, on her clothes. She was the only one that wore the robes during class.
“How are your parents, hm?” His question sits uneasy on them both. Y/N does not look at Regulus, Regulus does not look at Y/N – they both hope the other one will talk first.
And because she remembers her father’s words, she opens her mouth. “My father sends his greetings, sir. He got me a new potions book that I’ve read over the summer,” she says and accepts happily the proud nod from her professor.
“Very good, I’m pleased to hear that the vacation didn’t stop your liking for studying,” he laughs in a soft manner. “Right, Regulus? Miss Lestrange here sure is a great housemate, keeping our pride safe,” now is the Horace Slughorn, Head of Slytherin, that’s talking.
She sees with the corner of her eye that his body tenses. “Of course, professor,” he forces himself to say.
“Right,” Horace claps his hands together again, excited. “You two are the brightest students in my house, that’s the reason I’m sure you two will be also the brightest Prefects that Hogwarts has and will ever see!” He hands them the green badges, the word PREFECT being written on it with silver letters. “I’m sure you’ll make me very proud, children,” he says.
“You can be sure of it, sir. We’ll do our best,” Y/N smiles and looks at the metal badge from between her fingers.
“That’s all,” the professor says. “Come on, go to your business, I have another class now.”
She bites her tongue and smiles polite at him, before turning around.
“What about the Slug Club, sir?”
Regulus Black was not the most talkative person Y/N knew, but he sure was stubborn.
“Oh, Merlin, I nearly forgot! Of course, Mister Black, you and Miss Lestrange are more than welcome, I thought that’s already settled,” he said and smiled at them – Horace Slughorn wanted to make sure that the kids of two important families in the Wizarding World liked him as a teacher.
As soon as they leave the class, Regulus scoffs, the sound echoing in the corridor. “Maybe you’ll learn how to dress now that I’m forced to spend even more time with you.”
His voice is mocking, rude and teasing. Now that they’re alone, they can finally act how they really wish to. Y/N grabs the wand from her robes’ pocket and points it at Regulus, who’s now pressed against the stone wall and grins at her.
“If you ever try to outsmart me again, Black, I swear I’m gonna Crucio you,” she spats the words in his face and only for a second Regulus’ face drops, his eyes looking at the tip of the wand before returning at her face.
“Only if you’d be capable of doing something like that, you pathetic try of a witch,” he says and grabs her wand, pushing it away from his face.
“You really have a death wish?” she asks annoyed by his eyes that watch her with superiority, his curved lips that laugh at her.
“Careful, Y/N, you wouldn’t want you-know-who to find out what a brave and cruel witch you are, right? He may like it,” he laughs and walks away from her, leaving her alone at the door of the Potions’ class.
For a moment, she’s alone. And there’s silence. She looks at the green badge in her hand and exhales all the air in her lungs. And then, there’s laughter. And there’re steps which walk in her direction, and she wants to leave but she freezes pressed against the wall, right where Regulus was only a moment ago.
James Potter is walking beside a ginger girl; tall and beautiful and dressed in a red uniform, matching his. He makes her laugh as she’s playfully hitting his arm, telling him to stop. Y/N just stays there, and James doesn’t even seem to notice her. But the girl does – Y/N recognizes her as Lily Evans, the Muggleborn girl in James’ year. Lily’s green eyes watch Y/N as she sits there, badge in her hand, and the older witch smiles at her. She ignores James for a moment, giving Y/N a thumbs-up before pointing to her red badge, which had written HEADGIRL on it.
As they enter the room, Y/N starts walking away. She feels sad, maybe, heartbroken, even. She’s not sure. But she’s sure that she’s furious, angry, mad. Her father was right. Mudbloods and blood traitors deserve nothing.
And that’s only because James Potter picked the green eyes over the green badge.

☆ only have eyes for you — james x reader
info: i love writing angst so here's some angst w/ reader pining after james even though jily is jily-ing. sorry i said their full names so many times i wanted to make it sound like idk poetic somehow but clearly it's just sounding a little stupid. anyway! hope you enjoy!
you knew you weren't supposed to like him. you knew, as you stared at his curly, brown hair, and watched how his head threw back when he laughed really hard at his friends' words, that you were not supposed to be thinking these things about james fleamont potter.
he was off-limits. you knew that.
you looked at the redhead sitting across from you.
lily evans was gorgeous. anyone with working eyes could see that lily evans was easily one of the prettiest girls in your year.
james fleamont potter had working eyes.
in fact, he must've had 20-20 vision with the way he chased after her. he had to have her. but she didn't want him. or at least he thought as much.
but you knew the truth.
you were lily evan's confidante. she told you what she thought about james fleamont potter. she liked how he would pull out chairs for her before she went to take a seat. she liked how he had her schedule memorized to see her in between classes. she liked how he was willing to publicly embarrass himself simply to get her attention. she liked him. lily evans loved james fleamont potter.
and he loved her. and you were not a part of it.
you wished james fleamont potter didn't have working eyes.

"voted most likely to run away with you."
—————————————
"Welcome to Gryffindor! I hope we were the house you wanted," were the first words that came out of the curly-haired boy with glasses who approached you at dinner.
"Uh, I mean, I guess?" you replied, "I think Gryffindor and Wampus are equivalents."
"Why did you transfer?" the red-headed girl stood next to him asked, tilting her head out of curiosity.
You looked down at the ground ashamedly: you had already decided honesty would be the most sustainable way of making friends, "I got expelled."
"Yes, you did," an elderly voice said sternly from behind you, making you jump. You had to admit that the Gryffindor head, Professor McGonagall, scared you a bit. "And you should be very grateful that Professor Dumbledore agreed to offer you a fresh start. Don't waste it, Miss L/N."
"I won't, professor."
"And considering the reason for your expulsion, I suggest you avoid Mr Potter here, along with Mr Black, Mr Lupin and Mr Pettigrew, otherwise we may have to worry about a repeat offence," she continued, "I have high hopes for you, Miss L/N, but you must understand that you are going to be judged much more harshly than the other students."
"Yes, professor," you said, head hanging low. Webster, had she had to embarrass you like that before you'd even had a chance to make friends?
"What was the reason for your expulsion?" the Potter boy asked after McGonagall had left. You couldn't help but notice that three other boys had joined the conversation now: likely the other three the Gryffindor head had mentioned.
You continued with your truthful streak, "Oh, I just- a prank backfired."
"You do pranks?" one of the newly joined boys said excitedly. His hair was long and black, and you could smell his cologne more strongly than the others.
"Yeah, I guess- probably not anymore, though. My parents would kill me if I got another expulsion."
"Ah, don't worry about that," the black-haired boy batted a hand, "McGonagall can be scary, sure, but only Dumbledore has the power to expel, and he's all bark, no bite."
The red-headed girl rolled her eyes, "That mindset will get you expelled, Black-" so that was his name, "-I'm Lily, Lily Evans," she held her hand out to you, and you awkwardly took it.
"Y/N L/N," you replied, though they already knew that. They had heard your name be announced during the sorting ceremony, during which you had stood out like a sore thumb next to all the first years.
"You'll be in the same dorm as me," she said, "I hope we can be friends."
"Woah, slow down, Evans," Black interrupted, "Our good friend L/N here has just told us she's a prankster, and we know you don't approve of that."
Lily rolled her eyes, "If you want me to stupefy any of them, just let me know. C'mon, Lupin, we have head boy and girl stuff to do."
The tallest of the four boys followed her over to the first year section of the table.
"Sirius Black," the boy grinned, lifting your hand to press a kiss to the back of it, "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance." He dropped your hand, "This here is James-" he gestured to the Potter boy, "Over with Evans is Remus, and this is Peter." He pointed towards the final boy, whose last name could only be Pettigrew.
"We would absolutely love to hear all about your pranking genius," James said as he looped an arm through one of yours, Sirius doing the same on your other side.
The latter nodded enthusiastically, "And we would adore an in-depth retelling of your expulsion."
Okay, maybe you wouldn't be unpopular just because you were a late transfer with a bad record.
***
Somehow, some way, the boys - self-named as the Marauders - had roped you into committing another prank. They had described it as the "initiation prank" that would solidify your place in the group and allow you to be included in all of their secrets (of which you could tell there were many).
It was only your second week at Hogwarts: you could tell McGonagall wasn't so pleased when it came to your blooming friendships with the infamous pranksters of the school, although she was happy to see you were also forming a strong bond with Lily. Also, your grades were good - after all, creative pranks didn't come from a stupid mind.
"Are you all set?" James asked just as you had rushed around the corner, completely out of breath.
You nodded, "I almost got trapped in it myself."
From the distant corridor, sounds of people cursing and in general making loud exclamations began, and one by one you and the Marauders peered around the corner.
You had charmed the floor to have the solidity of an (overly bouncy) bouncy castle - and now you could only watch in satisfied glee as people lost their balance and began bouncing around higher than they could control. Many had fallen over and were completely helpless, meanwhile a select few were beginning to get the hang of it but ultimately failed when a helpless one crashed into them. A crowd had formed at both edges of the charmed floor, meaning it was a matter of time before a professor showed up.
"We should get out of here," Remus whispered, suppressing his giggles in the process.
You all nodded in agreement and began backing away from the situation when a stern resounding cough echoed around you, making you freeze in your tracks.
"Just where do you think you're going?"
McGonagall.
You all slowly turned around to face your angered head of house.
"Detention, the lot of you," she then turned to you, "Miss L/N, I am incredibly disappointed that this is the start you're getting off to."
You bowed your head in shame.
***
Detention involved scrubbing every single cauldron in the potions classroom by hand - an immensely tedious task. Though, truthfully, with the Marauders there, you were having at least some amount of fun. Plus, Professor Slughorn was mostly out of the room, only checking in every twenty minutes or so, meaning you could converse relatively freely.
"Your prank was so good," Sirius, who was stood next to you as you cleaned, said, "I was very impressed."
You couldn't stop the heat from rising to your cheeks and ears, "Thanks, I just hope I didn't hurt any-"
"Oh, speaking of the prank!" James interrupted from across the room, "You're now officially initiated! You want to know our secrets?"
"I mean, sure-"
He reached into his satchel and pulled out a piece of parchment, slamming it down on the table as he unrolled it.
"Prongs, be careful, Slughorn could be back any mi-" Remus tried to say, but James made another interruption.
"He was just here two minutes ago, we've got a while," he gestured for you to come over and look at the paper, so you obliged.
You frowned, "It's blank."
"That, Miss Americana-" their favourite nickname for you, coming from Sirius' mouth this particular time, "-is what you're supposed to think."
James pulled out his wand and waved it over the paper, "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good."
To your pure amazement, a map of Hogwarts' many corridors and rooms formed on the page in a maroon ink colour. Not only that, but there were names as well: student and professor names that you recognised, and some of them were moving around on the parchment.
"This is our most beautiful creation," Sirius said to you with a charming smile, "The Marauders' Map."
"It displays every single secret room and passageway in Hogwarts," Remus said, "Plus the locations of all the students and professors."
"That's amazing," you said, genuinely astounded, "It must have been so difficult to make."
"About as difficult as becoming an animagus," Peter said, which made you furrow your brows at the oddly specific choice of simile.
"Which brings us on to the next secret," James continued, "We're animagi."
"It's what our nicknames our based off of," Sirius beamed, "I'm a dog - a black dog - hence the name Padfoot."
"I'm a stag," James said, "'S why I'm Prongs." He put his hands on his head in a way that symbolised antlers.
Peter sighed, "I'm sure you can guess what Wormtail is."
You thought for a second, "...Rat?" You felt bad guessing it, but the boy simply nodded.
You then turned your eyes to Remus, who had been particularly quiet during this part of the conversation.
"What's Moony then?"
"Wolf," James said with no further explanation.
And you simply thought that Remus had a wolf animagus: why would you think any differently?
***
"Alright, we're back," Sirius announced, immediately plopping a pouch of sweets into your hand, "Here's your request, Miss Americana."
"Thanks, Siri," you said, giving him a warm smile which he returned before following the other Marauders up the stairs. They had, of course, snuck down to Hogsmeade through one of the secret tunnels: you had been invited, but due to the amount of catch-up work you still had to do, you declined, staying with Lily instead.
That exact redhead sighed at you, "I see the way you look at Black, L/N. I'd have to advise you not to go there."
You were flustered at her having caught on to your feelings so quick, but pushed that aside in favour of asking, "Why?"
"He's the heartbreak prince to put it lightly," she said, "Never had a long-term relationship. Dates a girl for two weeks, gets her all attached, then dumps her so her friends can find her crying in the toilets."
Your heart sunk: was he really that selfish?
"Great friend, don't get me wrong. Just not a great boyfriend."
You sighed, "Thanks for the warning, I guess."
"I don't wanna see you get hurt," she said, "Especially when I could've done something to prevent it."
You gave her a soft smile.
***
"This doesn't seem like a good idea," you said sceptically, watching as the boys tied some string across a section of the corridor in a spiderweb sort of fashion.
"It is, trust us," Sirius said, winking at you, "Now grab that string and help us."
You sighed, but couldn't say no to Sirius so agreed and got to work. Eventually, when the pattern was deemed complex enough, James put his hands on his hips in triumph.
"Step one is complete," he said proudly, moving over to a satchel in the corner to pull out a small potion, "A special thanks to Y/N for creating and cooking this potion for us."
You bowed sarcastically at the following applause.
"Now for step two," James continued, grabbing more bottles from the satchel and passing them around, "Douse the string in this."
You got to work on one of the ends of the string while Peter used his rat animagus to easily complete the task in the middle. After what felt like ages, the task was finally finished, and the potion was in full effect: the string was entirely invisible to the human eye.
"Quick, it's almost six," Remus said, glancing at the sun about to rise over the horizons, "We need to get out of here."
Strategically, you all split into different directions as you always looked more suspicious when you were altogether. You found yourself heading the same way Sirius was and did very little to change course.
"Yet another brilliant prank set up," he said gleefully, tugging on your arm to pull you in the same direction as him when you reached a T-junction.
"If I get expelled because of you guys, I'm suing," you spat, although your tone held no real malice.
"Relax, relax, Miss Americana," you rolled your eyes at the nickname, "We've told you a thousand times. Dumbledore doesn't expel unless it's legally required."
"What if this falls under the legal requirements?"
He shook his head dismissively, "It doesn't. I've read them."
You frowned, and before you could ask why he explained.
"Wanted to see what loopholes I could find."
"Even if I don't get expelled my parents will still slaughter me if they find out I'm back to pranking."
He hummed, "Well that's parents for you."
As he said that, you passed who you had learnt to be Regulus Black in the corridor: you hadn't been told the details, but you knew that the Black brothers did not get along. The external differences were obvious, with Regulus being cold and closed-off - accentuated by his Slytherin tie. Sirius, on the other hand, was sociable and warm - accentuated by his Gryffindor tie. Difference in personalities was seldom enough reason for two brothers to avoid each other like the plague, though, so you knew it was something deeper.
On a separate note: what Regulus was doing up so early, you had no idea.
"Where will the others be headed?" you asked, trying to get the good mood back into Sirius after seeing his brother.
"Godric knows," he said with a shrug, "We didn't plan this far ahead."
"Where are we headed?"
He paused in his movements, "Where do you want to go?"
You thought for a moment, "The Astronomy Tower."
"Bit weird to go there during daylight."
"I never claimed to be a mastermind."
He chuckled a bit, "Okay, let's go. It's this direction anyway."
***
"No, you're lying," he laughed, "So you charmed your headmaster's beard to mimic worms?"
You couldn't help but snort, shoving Sirius slightly from your position sat cross-legged opposite him. You both had been up in the Astronomy Tower for roughly half an hour by that point.
"And that still didn't get you expelled?"
"Yeah, in hindsight, I was pushing it way too much."
"I'll say. What possibly made you think that the dragon prank would be a good idea when you were already on thin ice?"
He was referencing the prank that had ultimately led to your expulsion, which you had already told the Marauders about in great detail.
You shrugged, "I told you, it was meant to be a non-physical illusion. I didn't mean to fuck up the spell and temporarily create a fully solid dragon."
"You must be an incredible witch if you could accidentally create such a powerful illusion, Miss Americana."
"I guess, I mean... it's not like the illusion had firepower or sharp claws or anything."
"Still hurt people though."
"Yeah, when a heavy-as-fuck being barrels into you at full speed some damage tends to be taken," you scoffed, "I'm just lucky I didn't kill or permanently disable anyone."
"And you apologised."
You smiled, "Yeah, but I reckon some of them will never truly forgive me."
"Ah, well, you live and you learn."
"What about you?" you asked, "That's the most interesting thing about my backstory, what about yours?"
"My family are elitist pure-bloods," he said, taking you by surprise, "They hate me for disagreeing with that and not being exactly like Regulus."
You hummed, "Old Reggie's the favourite then?"
"I mean, yes, but that doesn't mean they're particularly nice to him either."
You chewed your lip in thought, understanding what Sirius was implying. The friction between him and his brother now made sense, as well as his aversion to talking about his home life.
For a few moments, your eyes locked on to Sirius', and just when the cliché moment to lean in for a kiss arrived, you quickly looked away and awkwardly coughed. It's not that you didn't want to kiss the ridiculously handsome boy, but you just couldn't get Lily's words out of your mind. Sirius sensed your apprehension and avoidance, making him frown.
"Are you okay?"
You nodded, "Yeah, I'm fine."
"I just thought maybe we were having a- we were going to-..." he trailed off, bringing his lower lip between his teeth.
You remained silent.
"Sorry, I must've read the signals wrong."
Shaking your head, you sighed, "I can't."
"Why not? Strict parents?" he asked, "I mean, if that's the case, I don't think you could make 'em anymore pissed."
"That's not it, Padfoot," you said quietly, "Lily told me about you."
"What about me?"
"That you're the heartbreak prince," you said simply, "Never had a relationship longer than two weeks."
"Okay, that's true."
"See? I can't get myself hurt."
He pushed his long hair back messily, "No, no, let me explain."
You gave him an expression that told him to continue.
"Yes, I've had a lot of short relationships... it's not because I'm bad at commitment and move on quickly, I swear."
With a sceptical expression, you folded your arms.
"Whenever I get asked out, I just can't say no. So I just... say yes and then avoid them as much as I can until they break up with me... which normally takes a couple weeks."
"That's bad in a different way, Sirius," you scoffed, "You got their hopes up for nothing. That still makes you a heartbreaker."
"Yeah, yeah, I know. I feel shit about it."
"Look," you sighed, gazing at his handsome face in the sunlight, "I like you - I really do - but I can't date a guy that's hurt so many people without fixing it."
"Godric, Miss Americana, you really are the queen of morals, huh?"
"Someone in this group has to be."
He smiled at you, and despite the previous conversation, the atmosphere didn't feel awkward.
***
"Morning," you yawned, sitting down by Lily on the Gryffindor table. She didn't reply, instead giving you a dumbfounded expression that had you waking up a bit more. "What?"
"What the fuck is Black doing?"
"Hm?" you said confusedly, looking around to try and spot the black-haired man.
"Miss Americana," you heard James call, hurrying over to you, "What did you say to Padfoot yesterday? He's like a completely different person."
"What are you talking about?" you responded, finally locating Sirius in the room. He was moving about, going from one girl to another after exchanging a few words with each of them.
"He's apologising to every single girl he's ever left heartbroken," James explained, "What did you do?"
Your heart suddenly warmed at the realisation of what he was up to, and you now understood that maybe he was in fact serious about you.
Eventually, he came over to where you had been blatantly watching him from and sat down at your side. All of you, including Remus and Peter who had joined since, stared at him blankly as he began tucking into breakfast like the previous events were nothing.
"Padfoot, you feeling alright?" Remus asked.
"Never better, Moony."
"How come?" James ventured to ask.
"I can finally start a clean slate," Sirius beamed, turning to you, "One in which I hope Miss Americana will agree to go on a date with me."
You stared at him, your mouth slightly agape.
"You really did that just for me?"
He nodded enthusiastically, "I realised I had to show you how serious I am - no pun intended."
You sighed, "Okay. I'll go on a date with you."
He didn't need to know that butterflies were swarming in your stomach.

a pearl in his whiskey — remus lupin ♡
marauders pirate!au series masterlist
pirate captain!remus lupin x tavern keeper!fem!reader, humour, swearing, alcohol
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐮𝐞
the first time he saw you, remus lupin was tired to his bones, and all he really wanted was a decent tankard of ale.
he’d been fighting with his second mate, sirius black, all morning, and it had ended with both of their shirts torn to shreds.
lily evans, the ship’s surgeon, had gone to fetch them some more from the market. they were only scheduled on land for three days, but their jewels and feathers turned enough heads without the addition of a lack of fabric on their chests. currently, the buttons of his scarlet long coat were fastened to cover that issue.
“a pint of golden ale, love.” he murmured to you at the bar, sliding over too much gold and asking for no change.
you smiled sympathetically, though he missed it, staring at your hands wiping down the wood with a tattered cloth.
“ay, we’re out of ale since this morning. whiskey?”
he looked up to frown and tell you how he hated that foul drink, but the words were snatched from his throat as he met your eyes.
hardened, because if you’d made it so far in their world how else could they be. but also curious, maybe kind, definitely sharp.
“sure, whiskey.” he sighed, steeling himself for such a god awful drink.
you poured a glass with a practiced hand, about to give it to him. then, you saw the local taxmen entering your tavern, and promptly tipped the bitter liquid down your own throat.
remus huffed a half laugh, “what’s troubling you, then.”
he was jesting, not asking.
you swat him with your towel, and he wonders how you can be so at ease with a man who you can see is wielding five weapons.
“that’s my line! don’t worry, i’ll get ya another, just let me deal with these blokes. looks like you’ve got a friend here anyway.”
he would’ve refused the drink, but he wanted you to walk back over when you were done. you were also right. he did have a friend.
james potter jumped onto the bar stool next to him, “lily’s hit a snag.”
his first mate seemed a lot more jittery than usual, brimming with a nervous energy unlike his standard confidence. breathing in deeply through his nose, remus took the bait, “talk.”
the curly-haired man winced, “merchant called her out on fake coins, wouldn’t sell her the shirts.”
“why’d she use fake gold?”
james rolled his eyes, “she didn’t, but you tell a trader a pirate ain’t conning him. anyway, they arrested her.”
the whiskey arrived, skidding down the bar from where you spoke with another customer. he downed it in one, gesturing for james to continue.
“dorcas was tryna talk ‘em down. but she’s our gunner, not all charismatic and shit. marls went to help. didn’t go well.”
remus pinched the bridge of his nose, “right. gather everyone on the ship. we’ll figure it out...”
he looked towards you, only to find you smiling back at him, “looks like we’ll be here longer than we thought.”

The last memory of a Flower
Whumptober 2023
Day 3 : “Like crying out in an empty room, with no one except the moon” | Journal | Solitary Confinement
Warning : Mentionned Character Death
Paring : Marlene McKinnon x female reader
Words : 1380+
Tumblr media
“Harry, I found something!”
Hermione's voice calls the two boys to order. They abandon their exploration to come take a look at Hermione's find.
“What is this? A diary?” Ron asks, looking at the object.
It is in fact a small diary bound in brown leather. The cover is damaged and the pages are yellowed and curled, as if it had been lying in water for a long time.
Hermione dusts off the cover to read the name engraved on the leather.
“Y/N L/N’s diary.”
Harry frowns, sure he's heard the name before. Then as if enlightened, he grabs the photo frame from the shelf. The image comes to life, revealing a happy group of friends, albeit a little chaotic.
Harry points at a smiling young woman. Her head buried in the neck of a blonde teenager who holds her by the shoulders. They hug each other under the teasing gaze of Sirius Black.
“It’s her, right?”
Hermione leans over to read the names written under the photo: James Potter, Lily Evans, Remus Lupin, Peter Pettegrew, Dorcas Meadows, Mary McDonald, Y/N L/N and Marlene McKinon.
The writing on the frame indicates that the photo was taken during their sixth year. By elimination: the red-haired girl is Lily; the brunette with curly hair is Mary; and the dark-skinned one is Dorcas. Harry remembers Sirius briefly introducing them to him in an Order of the Phoenix photo during his fifth year.
“And the blonde girl is Marlene McKinon,” Harry concluded out loud.
Hermione smiles as the two teenagers laugh harder in the animated photo. “They seemed close...”
None of them are unaware that in this photo only two people survived.
Hermione turns the object in her hands uncomfortably. “Are you sure you want to read it...? This is the diary of one of the former members of the Order of the Phoenix. I don't think she has much to hide.”
Harry is about to point out that the diary was in Sirius's things, when Ron calls out to them.
“I found something else.”
He shows them a small wooden box, stored in the same drawer as the newspaper. He gently lifts the lid to reveal its contents: cut-out newspaper articles. Harry leans down to grab one.
Dorcas Meadows, murdered!
December 1981
It doesn't take more than a glance to realize that all of the articles recount the deaths of members of the Order of the Phoenix. A sad memorial to those who fought against Voldemort in the first war.
Below is the article discussing the death of Marlene McKinon. Murdered by Death Eaters with her entire family during July 1981.
The atmosphere is heavy but no one says a word to break it. Instead, Ron grabs another item. This one bears the name of the owner of the diary. He pushes the paper to the center of the table and everyone leans forward to read better.
The auror Y/N L/N, missing!
August 1981, a month after the disappearance of her close friend: Marlene McKinon. The young auror, just around twenty years old, set out on a quest for revenge. Witnesses claim to have seen her for the last time near Malfoy Manor at dawn on August 3. Patrols were launched but no trace of the young woman. It seems that the last heiress of the L/N’s is gone for good.
“August 1981…” Harry thinks out loud. “Hermione, when was the last page of the diary?”
The teenager grabs the notebook and opens it delicately. She turns the yellowed pages, taking care not to linger on the writings. Arriving at the last page, a hiccup of astonishment catches in her throat.
“Hermione?” Ron asks in a worried tone.
“August 4, 1981… The last page was written one day after her disappearance!”
All scruples gone, Harry and Ron in turn look at the diary to try to decipher the writing. There may not be any interesting information to be gleaned from this diary, but curiosity pricks them like a goad.
The writing is shaky. The black ink has smeared in certain places on the page. Lighter stains on the paper indicate the presence of tears, dried over time. The two pages are not completely filled out. The second is only a quarter of the way written. As if hypnotized, everyone begins reading.
August 4, 1981 (Malfoy Manor)
This is the last page of this diary that I will fill out. I wish I could have finished the next 100, but fate has not been kind to me.
If anyone ever reads this one day, allow me to introduce myself:
My name is Y/N, but Marlene calls me “Flower” because I remind her of the beauty of spring (according to her). I'm 23 years old, I have a group of friends and a diploma in my pocket. But in a few hours, that won't matter anymore.
They killed Marlene. Those damn Death Eaters took her away from me. My best friend, my confidante, the woman of my life. They took her from me last month.
And I've been in terrible pain ever since.
No matter how I turn the problem around, there is no future for me. Marlene was my horizon; a shoulder I could cry on; a marvel that I never stopped admiring; the person who introduced me to what “falling in love” meant.
We promised to stay together no matter what. After the war, we decided that we would fight so that people like us could get married. Then we would have a family together.
She wanted at least two children so that they would never be bored. If possible a girl and a boy. She had grown up with big brothers, she wanted our children to have the same life.
So I drew them. The day I learned she had died, I picked up a pencil and started drawing.
I drew her, the way I imagined her in ten years. I drew myself the same way. Then I painted a portrait of our children. I redrew them a good twenty times so that they corresponded to the image I had of them in my dreams.
When I was finished, I allowed myself to cry. I cried for a whole night. I cried for all the times I forbade myself.
And in the morning I had made my decision.
They say that to cast an unforgivable curse you have to want it from the bottom of your heart. And I wanted it in every cell of my body.
I have killed dozens of Death Eaters and not once have I felt regret.
There may have been teenagers in the group; Some who had only followed the crowd. But I didn't care anymore. I was returning the violence of the emotions that I had suffered the previous month.
I'm not proud of it but I'm not sorry either.
I wanted them to suffer like I suffered. I wished them death. I walked over their corpses. I didn't like it but I was too angry to realize it.
I continued until one of them stopped me. They locked me here, in the basement of the Malfoy Manor. I've been alone for an hour. Everyone who comes down here never sees the light of day again. I write by the light of the Moon. Tomorrow it will be my turn.
Narcissa promised to give this diary to Sirius. She gave me the pen with which I write. I think she feels sorry for me.
But I don't feel sorry for myself.
I regret nothing.
I did it for Marlene. I did it for what they took from me. I did it so that they would know the pain of losing a loved one in turn.
I haven't succeeded in overthrowing this stupid cult, but I have no doubt that someone will eventually.
So that one day my soul can rest in peace.
You who read this diary, I hope that this whole period is ancient history. Thank you for giving me your precious time.
Let me not let you forget me:
My name is Y/N L/N. I am 23 years old. I'm going to die tomorrow. But I don't regret it for a second.
To my dear wife; to the souls snatched by Death Eaters; to my friends ; to you dear reader. Signed: Flower.

Tumblr media
James Potter had never noticed you, he was too wrapped up in Lily Evans to even look in your direction. But when he got on the train, ready for his seventh and final year at Hogwarts he watched as you entered in through the door. He had always seen you as the pureblood that he found quite annoying, but this moment? The sun hitting your face and brightening it up as you smiled at one of your friends, well— his heart sunk.
He wanted to say hi, but you brushed passed his shoulder to go and find your usual friends in their usual compartment. Yet his eyes lingered, he couldn’t look away.
Throughout the day he found himself searching the crowd of incoming students to find you, just as he did for Lily all these years. All he could think to himself was how he had wasted the past six years pining after a girl who didn’t even look in his direction when you were right there.
“James, who are you looking for?” Sirius asked as they sat in the Great Hall for dinner.
“Hm?” James looked over, being pulled from his thoughts while he looked over the Slytherin table a million times and still couldn’t seem to find you. “Oh— no one.” he shook his head.
“Liar.” Remus smirked, looking down at his food which made James furrow his eyebrows in response.
“Excuse me?” He laughed a bit, trying to cover up the fact this his friends were onto him.
“By this time every year you’re sat next to Lily Evans flirting with the poor girl, so why are you sitting with us and looking at the—” Sirius took a moment to follow his previous line of sight. “the Slytherin table?” he found himself shocked with what he found, his mouth turning into a confused frown.
“I’m not looking at the Slytherin table.” James lied, his eyes rolling before looking back down to pick at his food.
“Right..” Sirius slowly nodded.
“I’m not!” James tried to defend, but it came off more aggressive than he had originally hoped for, his own actions immediately throwing himself under the bus.
“Woah— calm down. We’re just messing with you.” Remus laughed lightly and James stared at him with his lids lowered before he scoffed and shoved a spoonful of mashed potatoes in his mouth. He hated mashed potatoes of course, but anything to keep himself from tattling on— well, himself.
The next day he had DADA class first thing in the morning, sitting at his assigned seat towards the back of his class, something he was grateful for because he could do his usual in class shenanigans. But— as soon as he was starting to get used to his new seat, the chair beside him was pulled out, and none other than you had sat down next to him.
He watched in shock as you set your books down and took your seat, slowly looking over at the dark curly haired boy who sat next to you. You looked confused as to why he was looking at you the way he was.
“Do you need something, Potter?” you asked, his last name falling off your tongue with ease and he had wished for nothing more than for you to say his first name.
“Oh— uhh.” he stammered, why was he freezing? He never froze, he was James Potter for Merlin’s sake. The king of flirting, so this was very unusual for him. Say something. Anything.
“Nope, everything’s good.” he breathed out finally, looking away awkwardly. Why did he have to be so awkward? He was ruining his chances with you, which were already very slim considering who you were, who your family was.
Pureblood family, strictly Slytherin. Just like Sirius’ family. You were what some called the pureblood princess, untouchable unless you were raised just as you were. James definitely wasn’t, but that wasn’t going to stop him. Hopefully..
“Good, I was beginning to think you didn’t like me sitting here.” you joked, something you didn’t do very often. In fact you were usually very quiet, really only spoke when you were spoken to. Just as you were taught growing up.
“Oh no, you can sit here— I mean I want you to sit here..” he stuttered again, but looked back up at you again.
“I have to sit here.” you smiled, this playful smile that made his heart skip a beat and he laughed lightly.
“Right yeah, I suppose you do.” he motioned towards the seating chart displayed on the chalkboard in front of the room.
You scoffed, shaking you head before looking down at your DADA book, opening it up and tucking your hair behind your ear to expose a bit more of your face.
The entire class James was trying to find some excuse to talk to you, yet he couldn’t find any reason to. Only small stolen glances in your direction, watching as you paid attention to the professor and wrote little notes with a quill on a blank sheet of paper.
Then class had ended, and just as soon as you came, you left. James sat for a moment, leaning back in his seat and sighing audibly before standing up and walking into the hallway.
“When did you start getting whipped for Y/N?” Remus appeared beside James, which he sighed in relief seeing who it was.
“Merlin, you scared me Moony.” he rolled his eyes.
“Well, are you gonna answer me?” he asked.
“I’m not whipped for Y/L/N.” he stared forward, not wanting to look at Remus because he knew his face would betray him once again, just as it did the night before.
“Right, you can lie all you want but I saw you staring at her that entire class when Lily was sitting right in front of you.” Remus exposed him. “Better not tell Sirius, he’d get pissed if he found out you like a girl like Y/N.” he warned his friend.
“I’m not, so you have nothing to worry about.” James defended his actions, but he knew he had been caught.
“Whatever helps you sleep at night.” Remus teased.
The rest of the day he couldn’t stop thinking about you, the face you make when your focused and how you smiled at him at the beginning of class. He tossed and turned in his sleep thinking about it, groaning as he shoved his pillow over his face in frustration. It was like his crush on Lily but a million times worse and he couldn’t understand why. Why was he suddenly so head over heels for the pureblood princess?
The following weeks seemed to go by rather slowly and he tried to blame it on him just being ready to finish school, but in reality you were stuck in this special little place in the back of his mind. He saw you in the library every Thursday, his day to study and catch up on homework before the weekend.
You had barely spoken to him too, randomly asking for a quill when you forgot one, him asking for a piece of parchment paper when he had ran out. Helping answer questions for each other when the two of you got a bit confused, but that was it.
Lily even spoke to him more than you did, and yet every time him and the red head would talk he didn’t get the same feeling the previous years when the girl gave him attention, he had secretly wished it was you talking to him.
But after almost a month of little words exchanged, something had changed, he had stood up for you.
It was in DADA, the class was learning about the Imperius when a Ravenclaw students decided to make a very mean joke towards you.
“Alright students, today we will be learning about the curse that controls the mind. It is called the Imperius curse, it is very dangerous and it is very important you know how to protect yourself from it.” the professor explained.
“Protect ourselves from it, or from people like Y/N’s family?” the witty Ravenclaw girl spoke up. James looked up from his book towards the girl, then towards you. Usually when someone made a sly comment like that you would fire something mean back, but your face told a different story.
Tears filled your eyes and you looked at the girl who had a smirk on her face. “Now that’s quite enough, Miss. Golding.” the professor warned.
“That was a real bitch move, Grace.” James said towards the girl, which caused you to look at him in shock. Was James Potter really standing up to the Ravenclaw to defend you? He had ignored your every move for years and yet here he was actually being nice. Shocking, to say the least.
“That’s detention for you, Mr. Potter.” the professor sighed.
“That’s not fair, Grace said something first.” James defended his actions.
“Okay, detention for you too, Miss. Golding.” the Ravenclaw sighed.
James looked over at you and shot a small smile on your direction, you smiled back.
After class you found James in the library studying and approached the table he sat at by himself. “Hey, uh—” you started awkwardly. “Thanks for defending me in class earlier, you really didn’t have to do that.” you smiled.
“Of course.” he said softly, a small smile on his face as well.
“Sorry you got detention.” you pressed your lips into a line. You really did feel bad, and felt like it wasn’t deserved that he got detention for standing up for another student when they couldn’t.
“It’s okay, it was worth it.” he shrugged and leaned in a bit closer. “Between you and me Grace is a pain in the ass.” he joked, earning a breathy laugh from you.
“Yeah, she is.” you nodded. “Do you usually study alone?” you asked. James froze yet again.
“Uh— yeah. Usually.” he looked down.
“Do you care if I sit?” you questioned, motioning to the chair on the side of the table next to him.
“What? Oh, no. Not at all.” he motioned towards it. “Please.” he came off as desperate, mentally face palming.
“Okay.” you laughed again, sitting down and setting your books in front of you. The two of you spent an hour sitting side by side in silence, and every once in a while he peaked over his book to take a look at you. He couldn’t help it, you really were those one of a kind girls.
“James!” he heard his name get called, looking over to see who the feminine voice was. Lily Evans, of course it was. How come when he finally was moving on she seemed to appear more often?
“Lily.” he nodded towards her as she approached him. “Can I study with you?” she asked, her eyes darting over at you and then back at James. You stared up at her for a moment.
“Oh, look at the time! I best get going before my friends start wondering where I am.” you said, gathering your things and shoving them into you arms. “See you around, Potter.” you smiled in his direction before walking off.
“See— see you.” he muttered to himself, finding himself watching as you left.
“James?” Lily called, snapping him out of his gaze.
“Yeah? Oh, yes! You can sit, study— yeah.” he nodded before looking down at his book. But he didn’t steal glances at Lily, in fact he stayed glued to his DADA boom instead.
Every Thursday after that the two of you sat in the library and studied for an hour, and every single time Lily would come in and ask to study, and every single time you would leave when she did.
You knew Lily Evans didn’t like you that much, not very many people did. It was hard to like someone who came from the background you did, you understood that. What you couldn’t understand is why James Potter was suddenly being so nice to you? It was like a switch in his brain flipped over the summer, his usual cold demeanor towards you turned into a warm and welcoming one.
So one day as you sat reading next to James, he finally spoke to you, causing you to look up from the notes you were writing. “What are you doing this weekend?” he asked.
“What?” you asked shocked.
“What are you doing this weekend?” he repeated and you stared for a moment completely dumbfounded. You set down your quill.
“I’m not sure.” you shrugged, because you weren’t sure. You usually sat in the Slytherin common room with your friends and talked about your week with each other, talked about your families or sat in silence. It was boring.
“Wanna go for a walk around the Black Lake?” he asked casually.
“Why? You’re not going to push me in or anything, right?” you joked and he laughed.
“No, I’m not going to push you in.” he smiled.
“So— why then?” you repeated.
“Sirius and Remus are going on a date, Peter is hanging out with Marlene, and I like to go on walks with my friends on the weekends.” he shrugged.
“Oh so we’re friends now?” you teased.
“Of course! We sit with each other every Thursday and next to each other everyday in class.” he explained further.
“I will go if you answer one question for me.” you decided.
“Shoot.” he leaned back in his chair.
“What happened?” you asked, he furrowed his eyebrows, unsure of what exactly you were asking. “I mean, something must’ve happened over the summer. Before you used to hate me, and tease me.” you explained.
“So what happened? Why are you defending me now and hanging out with me?” you looked at him. James thought for a moment.
“I don’t know, I guess I changed my mind— about you.” he looked at you, his face relaxed as he searched for any reaction on your face.
“Changed your mind what about me exactly?” you dived deeper.
“I already answered your question, are you in or not?” he asked.
“James.” you warned, earning a sigh from him. He really didn’t want to have to ever explain this to you.
“You, your family, they stand for everything I’m against.” he replied honestly. “But at the beginning of the year when you walked onto that train, I don’t know how to explain it but, you changed. You looked really well, happy. Very unlike your family.”
“Classic me, came back to seventh year all pretty.” you joked, looking away, but his words stung. All these years he saw you just as everyone else did. Your unforgiving last name revealing who you were supposed to be.
“Not just pretty, Y/N, you looked happy.” he reiterated. You looked back up at him. “Besides, you’ve always been pretty. I was too sucked up in the rumors to notice it.” he looked at you deeply, like he was the first person in this entire school to see you.
“What about Lily Evans, is she too busy?” you questioned.
“I don’t know.” he shrugged, he was being honest. He hadn’t asked Lily what she was doing. “I asked you what you were doing, not Evans.” he smiled.
“Okay, I’ll go to the lake this weekend. But I swear if you push me in—” you started to get defensive but James only laughed.
“I’m not gonna push you in. What, are you afraid of water?” he teased.
“I can’t swim, and I’m not just saying that to sound cute. Like I would literally die if I fell in the water.” you replied honestly.
“Then I would save you.”

Spin The Bottle
Tumblr media
Pairing: Sirius Black x Male!Reader
Requested: Yes
Request: “Sirius Black snogging you and realizing it's your first-ever kiss?”
-----
You weren’t a regular at the innumerable wild parties that were thrown in the Gryffindor common room, but since tonight’s party was for your best friend’s birthday, you couldn’t rightly get away without at least making a brief appearance. A soft sigh escaped you as you stood before the portrait of the Fat Lady, finally forcing yourself to give her the password after a long moment of doubt under her impatient gaze.
The sight that greeted you had you hesitating further. The large room was positively packed; students from all four houses clustered together, dancing and shouting to be heard over the music thrumming from a music box that’d been charmed to blast the latest hits.
You weren’t able to hesitate for long however, not when the birthday girl herself caught sight of you and tore her way out of the waves of people with a shout of your name. She stumbled into your arms drunkenly and you heaved a sigh, knowing that she must’ve gotten ahold of a bottle of the firewhiskey that someone had smuggled in.
“I’m sooo happy you’re here!” She grinned widely, reaching up to ruffle your hair. “And just in time, too! We were jus’ about to play spin the bottle!”
Your eyes went wide at your friend’s proclamation and you tried to wiggle out of her hold. “No, I think I’m alright sitting this one out.”
She scoffed, tugging hard on your arm and dragging you toward the forming circle in one corner of the room. Despite your struggles and her inebriated state, she managed to force you over to the circle and down to sit beside her.
You grimaced as the first couple kissed noisily in the center of the circle, taking the moment to examine the other people playing. You weren’t surprised to see popular people like Marlene McKinnon, Lily Evans, and James Potter, or even the people that normally flocked around them like Peter Pettigrew and the Prewett siblings. You really shouldn’t have been surprised when your eyes fell on Sirius Black, though you still found yourself frozen in place.
Gryffindor’s infamous playboy, he looked perfect as always with his curly dark hair pushed messily out of his face, a black band t-shirt stretched tight across his shoulders and chest, and a red flannel was knotted carelessly around his waist. His grey eyes were lined with a dark eyeliner that made them even more striking than they normally were. As you watched, someone handed Sirius the bottle and he let out an uproarious laugh, leaning forward to spin it. He looked up as he did, lips quirking up further as his eyes met yours.
The bottle spun wildly and it felt as though the crowd stopped breathing, anticipation building as it gradually began to slow, turning slower and slower until it came to a stop, pointing directly at you.
You could feel your heart stop in your chest as people began to follow the trajectory of the bottle to you with expectant eyes. Your mind began to whirl as you wondered half-heartedly if it would be better to run than to have it made clear that you hadn’t even had your first kiss yet, let alone for it to happen in such a stupid game.
Before you could successfully plot your escape, Sirius was already moving, crawling across the middle of the circle until he was kneeling right in front of you with his knees brushing against yours. He gave you a barely-there smile, sweet and soft in a way that you’d never seen him before, and then leaned forward, taking your face in his hands and pressing his lips to yours.
The roar of whoops from the crowd is drowned out by the rush of sensations as he kisses you; by the careful way he cups your face and the feeling of his thumbs trailing along your cheekbones and his mouth moving slightly against yours and the press of his tongue against your lips.
His tongue-
With that thought, you startled back into the present, jerking away from Sirius and smiling sheepishly under the weight of everyone’s eyes. Under Sirius’ eyes, shocked and surprised and curious, as he tried to figure out why you’d pulled away so abruptly.
You cleared your throat awkwardly, shoving the bottle at the nearest person before pushing yourself to your feet and heading for the portrait hole with your sole objective to get away from the crowd so you could freak out in peace.
Pushing through the crowd was easy enough and once you’d made it out into the corridor, you felt like you were safe enough to slow down. You were proven wrong by the sound of footsteps thundering after you and someone calling your name, eventually skidding to a stop beside you.
Of course, to your mortification, it was Sirius.
He stayed quiet for a moment when he realized that you weren’t going to run from him, “Can I ask if you’re okay?” he asked once he’d caught his breath. “I didn’t mean to cross a boundary, I just thought- well, you were playing and I figured-” he cut himself off, shaking his head, “I’m sorry, is my point. It wasn’t my intention to make you uncomfortable.”
His concern was surprising, welcome, but unexpected in a way that was more than a little endearing.
“That’s not it,” you finally forced out, crossing your arms over your chest in an absent-minded attempt to distance yourself from the conversation. “You didn’t make me uncomfortable.”
Sirius’ brows furrowed in confusion and he took a couple steps closer to you, “Then why did you run?”
You could feel your face warming as you thought about the real reason you ran; that you’d panicked, that you liked him, that you were scared he could tell that you hadn’t kissed anyone before, how Sirius might react if you told him the truth.
You shrugged noncommittally, turning on your heel and moving to head down the dark corridor once more. You were stopped by Sirius grabbing your hand and tugging you to a stop.
“Please tell me what’s wrong?” he asked again, dark grey eyes soft and pleading as he looked at you.
You couldn’t help but crumble under the weight of his gaze, as weak to him as you’d ever been. “That was my first kiss,” you muttered finally, keeping your eyes anywhere but on him.
He was silent for a long moment before realization seemed to strike him and a wide grin formed on his lips. “If that’s all,” he said, pushing his hair back in that same charming way he always did as his free hand crept from your wrist up to your shoulder, “Maybe we should try again? The right way this time?”
“Yeah,” he replied, grinning again, “Just the two of us this time. We could go for a butterbeer at the Three Broomsticks or go mess around in Zonko’s or even just for a walk on the grounds? Whatever you want,” he offered, eyes twinkling in the dim torchlight.
You cocked your head, puzzled, “The right way?”
You couldn’t deny that the promise of a date with Sirius Black was tempting, but right now, with him looking at you like you hung the stars in the sky, you knew what you wanted. You reached out to touch his face, running a fingertip gently along the edge of his jaw before hooking your hand behind his neck and tugging him forward so you could kiss him.
This kiss was shorter than the last, more chaste, but you could feel Sirius begin to smile as he realized what was happening. You pulled away then, grinning as you noticed the start of a blush blooming across his pale features. “Maybe a date for the third kiss, yeah?” you asked with a pleased grin.
“Or maybe the fourth?” He retorted, snickering a little as he snuck another kiss. “Or fifth?” And then another, “Sixth?” He kissed you one last time before pulling away and taking your hand again, starting to lead you back down the corridor in the direction of your common room, though the two of you found yourselves ducking into corners and behind tapestries to trade soft kisses and sweet words.
By the time he left you outside the entrance to your common room you weren’t sure how many kisses you’d exchanged, but that was alright because you knew he’d be back for you the following day for your date.

pairing: regulus black x evans!reader
word count: 3.3k
warnings: swearing, angst, make out scene
request by: @upchurch-funk
summary: being a muggleborn dating Regulus meant you had to keep it a secret. When your older sister finds out she raises fear of heartbreak in both of you
♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~
You and your sisters had been born jealous. Petunia turned to envy first as the attention that had been solely given to her was split between two other daughters. She had always been bitter towards you and Lily, never forgiving you for interpreting her perfect young life.  She had taken your things, broken your toys and ripped your clothes trying to punish you for being born and turning her from an only child to the eldest.
Lily was next when she realised she wasn't the only one who could sprout fire from her fingertips. She had accused you of faking your magic for years, doing everything she could to best you even if she never fully understood her powers herself. Luckily she outgrew this jealous fit and by the time you shared a cabin on your way to Hogwarts she was beaming ear to ear.
It was you who was last to realise what the burn in your chest really meant. The feeling came heavy like thick rain drops as you watched your sister fall so effortlessly in love. Each time she gave James a quick hug or leaned onto his shoulder your eyes narrowed, fury irrationally rising in your throat.
This wasn’t because you wished James was yours instead. In fact you had considered him an idiot since you met him and would have rather drown yourself than date the loud mouth fool. You were instead jealous of the simplicity of their relationship. Envious of how they could be carefree, how they could dream of picket fences and happy futures. You hated that they could still be stupid kids. How they were given the freedom to make out in hallways and sneak into eachothers dorms with their worst consequence being a slap on the wrist and week of detention. Nothing hurt more than watching your sister live a simple life you knew you never could.
You stared across the room locking eyes with Regulus for only a brief moment before his darted away. Charms was dreadfully boring, the lecture practically putting you to sleep, you knew you should have been paying attention, but watching the younger Black perform the spell with ease was far more interesting. The flick of his wrist was an addicting, dull look in his eyes far more attractive than it should have been. He had woken up late that morning, his hair messier than usual. You thought it looked adorable, the way a few strands drooped in front of his lashes. He only got cuter as he blew them from his face with a pout.
“You have a staring problem.” Levi muttered from beside you.
You rolled your eyes, “Do you ever mind your own business?”
“Please, you make your thing for Black everyone's business.” He muttered and you kicked him under the desk.
Cussing at you he glared, leaning down to massage his bruising shin.
You wondered briefly how he would have reacted to the reveal of your relationship with your “hopeless crush” as he liked to call it. The surprise on his face would have been sweet as honey.
Regulus was watching you now as you continued to talk to your desk mate, he had never liked the boy, call it jealousy or anger, something bitter always rose in his throat when he saw you with him. Maybe it was because he knew your life would be so much easier if you had loved him instead.
“I don’t get what you see in him anyway.” Levi said, looking across at Regulus whose eyes had quickly retreated back to his parchment.
You grew brittle at the statement.
“I mean I know he's attractive but if it's really about looks why not go for his brother?” He grumbled.
You scoffed, “Please, Sirius is a piece of work.”
“And he isn't? I’m surprised he hasn’t called you a slur yet.”
Rage bubbled in your stomach, your chest feeling hot, “Shut up.”
Levi was either oblivious to the anger set in your tone or unbothered by it “I mean really y/n, you have a crush on a purist? It's sickening.”
You screwed your eyes shut in an attempt to stop the hot tears building behind them. You wanted to scream at him, slap him across the face and shout how Regulus would never do such a thing. You wanted to tell him how wrong he was, make him regret ever speaking such cold words.  But instead you looked away, wiping your tears as they came while your boyfriend sat across the room pretending you didn't exist.

You were used to it, you knew as a muggleborn dating a pureblood from a family like his would never be easy but the words still stung. That night you sobbed into Regulus’s chest as he held you in your usual hidden courtyard.
As your tears soaked through his sweater he felt nothing but the cold grip of guilt. He had never meant to fall in love. He had known it was a mistake the second it had happened. Even now he knew he had been wrong and stupid and naive to let himself feel so deeply for someone he could never truly be with. He would never forgive himself for forcing you into the hellish life he lived with a simple confession. He hated himself every day for it, he didn't deserve to indulge in his emotions knowing it would cause you nothing but pain. He didn't deserve you and he had known that from the start.
Yet every night you met, kissing under the pale moon until your lips grew numb. Everynight he found himself falling deeper and deeper into you until you filled his dreams and nightmares alike. So he forced you closer to him, knowing he would cause nothing but hurt. And you were so childishly in love you let him.
Later as you lay asleep on his chest, legs tangled beneath a blanket he let his own tears go, silent apologies dripping down his cheek as he tightened his grip on your waist.
Lily watched you from where she sat at her table, green eyes narrowed as she tried to read your mind across the dining hall.
“Something is definitely off.” She mumbled turning to James who stared at her with a  dopey grin. “You haven’t been listening to a word I said have you?”
“How can I when you’re so beautiful?” He murmured back and she scoffed, face darkening.
Sirius gagged, “You guys are disgusting.”
“Christ Black, how old are you?” Lily spoke with the roll of her eyes.
He scrunched his nose and pretended to mock her silently only earning a sigh from Remus who sat beside him.
“Something is wrong with y/n, I can just feel it.” Lily continued content on ignoring Sirius.
“Maybe she's dating that Callahan kid.” James offered. “There’s been tons of rumors.”
Lily scoffed, “Please, she has told me multiple times she has absolutely no interest in him.”
“A few months ago you were telling her you had absolutely no interest in James.” Remus offered not to look up from his book.
Lily sputtered blushing heavily again, “That is completely different.”
“Sure it is.” Remus drawled, eyes peering over the cover at her.
Lily furrowed her brow, “But why wouldn’t she tell me? I mean I thought we've always been close.”
“Maybe it's not that serious.” Sirius shrugged, “Maybe they’re just fuck buddies or something.”
Lily pulled back in disgust, “Don’t talk about my little sister like that!” she hissed as Remus kicked him under the table.
“What? She’s almost 17! It's not like she's 12 or something, Godric.” Sirius complained and James threw a spoon at him.
“You know if you’re really that curious we could always just check the map.” James said looking over at Lily who was trying to set Sirius on fire with her glare.
She considered it for a moment, “Isn’t that kind of..” she paused “intrusive?”
He shrugged, “She's your little sister.”
The sky was dark that night as you met with Regulus. The moon was new leaving only the blinking stars to light the ground beneath you.
You grinned when you saw Regulus leaning against the small statue in the middle of the courtyard. You quickened your pace pulling him into a brief kiss as you met.
“Hi.” You whispered against his lips and you felt him smile.
“Hi.” He responded, hands on your waist pulling you closer once again.
You tasted sweet like the nectar of the gods, soft and tender in his arms. Your hair smelt of pomegranate, your flowery perfume engulfing him. There was nothing more addicting on this world than your lips.
You both pulled away breathless and grinning stupidly, “Your hair looks so cute like this.” You mumbled running your hands through it and tugging lightly on a curly lock that had fallen down his forehead.
Regulus practically purred, melting into your touch. He dipped his head low to hide his blush, lips skimming the skin of your neck.
You giggled as he mumbled a bashful thank you before nipping slightly below your ear. He was always careful to never leave marks that could be seen the following day. You wished he wasn’t.
You felt his hands on the back of your thighs lifting you off the ground. You wrapped your arms around his neck and buried your nose in his hair as he walked until your back hit the wall of the castle. You scratched your nails lightly against his scalp and Regulus groaned. You gasped at the feeling of his tongue on your jaw as he pressed you further into the stone. Your legs now wrapped around his waist as he left sloppy kisses on your collar bone.
It was then you heard the shuffle of footsteps.
“Regulus.” You whispered and he broke away to look up at you, his lips red and glossy , “I heard someone.”
He slowly lowered you to your feet, “You sure?”
You nodded and you both stood silently, ears craning for another sign of life among you. After a minute you sighed, “Sorry, I must have been hearing things.”
Regulus just shook his head grinning lightly, “ ‘s fine babe.” words slurring, intoxicated by your taste.
Your lips reconnected, his teeth grazing your bottom lip as you began to work on the buttons of his shirt, tugging on his tie to loosen its knot. But there it was again the soft sound of feet, closer this time.
You both paused Regulus pulling away leaving your skin feeling cold in his absence.
“Who’s there?” He demanded into the darkness, wand lit.
There was no response and you grabbed his hand to pull him back to you. Regulus stood his ground so you leaned into him, lips ghosting against his ear.
“It's probably just a mouse or somethin’.” You murmured hands coming back to undo the remaining buttons of his shirt.
Regulus glanced around once more before looking down at you, “You’re probably right.”  he said before he began to untuck your blouse, hands sliding slowly under it.
It was that which finally broke Lily, her vision going red. She stepped from beneath the invisibility cloak ignoring James' protests.
You let out a small yelp as your sister appeared from thin air, Regulus who had his back turned to her immediately drew his wand pushing you lightly behind him. His eyes went wide as he found himself inches from your older sister. It was your turn to pull Regulus behind you.
“Lily, What in bloody hell are you doing here?”
When James sheepishly appeared as well you gasped, “What is wrong with you both, are you stalking me?”
Lily looked stern, her arms crossed, “Why are you with him?” she seethed.
Your eyes narrowed, “None of your fucking buissnes. Now take your dog and leave.”
Regulus almost didn't believe it was you that was talking. He wasn’t accustomed to the harsh tone you used, your anger hardly ever directed at him.
“This is most certainly my business!” She spoke shrilly.
“It is most certainly not. Now get out.” You shouted.
“How can you expect me to leave when you're getting all touchy feely with a purist?” She hissed, grabbing at your wrist to pull you away from the boy behind you.    You slapped her away so hard the sound echoed off the walls, “Call him that again around me and you’ll fucking regret it.” You growled.
Lily stepped back surprised by your sudden aggression but not backing down, “Please y/n, I’m just calling it as it. The sooner you realise that the better.”
Regulus felt his throat tighten as he listened, teeth biting into his lip as he had nowhere to look but his feet.
You stepped closer to your sister inches from her face, “Leave.” your voice struck heavy.
Lily responded just as harshly, “No.”
James shifted behind his girlfriend feeling like he was intruding on the fight which was taking place. Sensing his awkwardness you looked back at him with a searing gaze.
“Get out Potter, you have no place here.” You spat.
He was planning on shuffling away when Lily turned back to him angrily, “No James stay.”
You scoffed as he did as he was told, “Fucking pet.”
“Don’t speak to him like that.” Lily scolded.
“You're the one who's calling my boyfriend a purist.” You growled your mouth bitter at the taste of hypocrisy.
“Because he is one!” She bit back. “You really think he actually loves you after being raised how he was? With a mother like his?”
Regulus felt like he had been slapped, his cheek stinging as the older girl spoke.
“Don’t you dare bring up his mother.”  You were shaking with rage by now, your face streaked with angry tears, “And how dare you speak ill of Regulus simply because of his upbringing as if his brother isn't one of your closest friends. How do you think Sirius would feel hearing what you just said?”
This took Lily back a step, her rage cooling a bit as she realised her mistake, “It’s different,” She tried to recover, “He isn't with his family anymore. Sirius has already broken away from them. He made the choice any good person would.”
Regulus felt her eyes on him as she spoke. She was no longer interested in her sister and instead focused on him. He felt like he was choking under the pressure of her stare. When he glanced up to meet her gaze he inhaled sharply. He hadn’t seen such hatred in a long time.
Your lashes were thick with tears by now, disgust and fury morphing your face, “Go fuck yourself Lily.” You spat.
She ignored you, gaze locked on Regulus, she had no intention of speaking to you anymore, “You stay away from her.” she demanded, “If you truly love her you stay away from her.”
You shouted lunging forwards and shoving your sister backwards. She stumbled back catching herself.
It was you who fell, your feet tangling, forcing you to the ground. You hit hard, hands and knees scraping against stones and moss which made up the floor. You couldn’t find it in you to stand up simply letting exhaustion and misery take you where you lay. You shook with sobs, voice cracked and raw. Lily immediately dropped beside you, hands circling your neck as she drew you into a hug. You fought her as you always did but she held on, letting you beat her chest with your fists until you stilled.
Regulus took a step forward but was stopped by your sister whose glare told him everything he needed to know. Tears pricking his own eyes he stumbled past the two of you and disappeared into the darkness of the dungeons. He didn't hear James shout for him over the sound of the ring in his ears. He wasn’t sure where he ended up, somewhere deep in the depths of the sprawling castle, dust coated the staircase he collapsed onto. Only there did he let himself cry, choking sobs rubbing his throat raw as he looked for someone to blame. His mother for forcing him into the terrifying world of dark magic? His brother for abandoning him in his abusive home? Or your sister for pointing out the truth he prayed you would never see? Regulus wished he could pass the blame off to anyone but he wasn’t stupid, he knew he had no one to hate but himself.
Regulus disappeared entirely for three days. Three days you spent desperately avoiding your sister who seemed just as adamant to talk to you again. You skipped meals opting for hunger instead risking meeting her in the hall. She would show up outside your classes forcing you to scramble out the back way or sprint away like a child running from punishment.
On the fourth day of your boyfriend's absence you felt yourself beginning to panic. Fear of him never returning, filling your head with irrational thoughts. It wasn’t like you could ask around for him, your relationship needed to remain secret despite the difficulties you were facing. It was then Lily cornered you.
You stared at the redhead as she blocked your only exit. “Lily, move.” You sighed exhausted by the past few days, sleepless nights not improving your condition.
She didn't listen, “Y/n we need to talk.”
"About what?" You scoffed, "I have nothing to say to you.”
“I just want you to understand why I,” She paused, “Why I said what I did.”
“I don't care why you said it Lily.” You said, “I don’t care if you think you were protecting me or saving me from some hopeless relationship. I honestly don’t care.”
Her eyes swelled, “How can you say that? How can you not care? I love you y/n I just want you to be safe.”
You stared at her, “I just don’t understand why you couldn’t just let me be happy.”
“He’s dangerous.”
You shook your head, “No, his family is dangerous. His situation is dangerous. He’s not.”
“Y/n please.” She begged, for what you did not know.
“Just stay out of my shit Lily.” you mumbled pushing past her and back into the hallway.
You spent the night where you always had, the small courtyard hidden between two towers of the castle, a statue of a woman draped in vines and flowers at its center. The moon was a small sliver, a dusting of clouds blocking the stars from your view. The shuffle of footsteps brought your eyes from the ground.
There stood Regulus, his face shining in the pale light. His hands were stuffed in his pockets, nose pointed at the floor as he refused to meet your gaze.
You stood quickly throwing your hands around his neck. He leaned into your touch burying his head into your shoulder as his hands found your waist.
You smelled delightful as always, your lips soft against his cheek and hands in his hair. Regulus hadn’t realized he was crying until you began to comfort him. Sweet words whispered into his ear as you only held him tighter.
“She’s right, you know.” He croaked, lifting his head to look at you. “You shouldn’t be around me.”
You shook your head feverishly, “You’re wrong Reggy.”
“I don’t deserve you y/n, I don’t deserve to be with you.” He sobbed, “I could never deserve you.”
“You’re right, love.” You mumbled, smiling through the tears that coated your cheeks, “You deserve so much better.”

We were Written in the Stars
Pairing: Sirius Black x Plus Size Reader
Summary: Sirius shows up at your house the night before 6th year…
Note: Ok so I wrote this series back when I first started my blog and I’ve been rewatching all the movies recently and I’m going to not necessarily rewrite but change some things up with what I’d originally planned on doing with the story. I hope you guys enjoy😁
Ps this was originally titled, “we’re just friends I think?” but I changed the title!
Warnings🛑: mentions of abuse, wand fights, derogatory names of muggle born people
Part 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I fell in love with Sirius Black when I was 16 years old. We had always been good friends, in fact, we were known amongst our group as the couple that never was. Meaning that we relentlessly flirted and teased each other, but never acted on our feelings. However, I knew Sirius couldn’t feel the same for me as I did for him. He saw me James’ annoying twin sister, and that’s all I’d ever be.
There was a knock on the front door, I told my parents I would get it. I opened the door to find Sirius, beaten and bruised. He had tears streaming down his face, and his hair was a mess.
“Sirius!” I gasped, he fell into my arms. He cried on my shoulder, his sobs tearing my heart to shreds.
“I left them. I-I couldn’t take it anymore,” he blubbered.
“Shhh Sirius, it’s alright. You’re safe now, come sit. I’ll get you something to drink.” I said, ushering him to the couch.
I hurried to the kitchen, making him a hot cup of tea. I brought it to him, his curly hair covering was covering his face. I brushed it back, handing him the tea. He sipped it, slowly starting to calm himself. Sirius had gone through so much in his life, with his parents, and struggling with his pure blood family. I felt so deeply for this boy, I couldn’t imagine being in his shoes.
He leaned against me, sitting the cup down before laying his head on my chest. I wrapped my arms around him instinctively, laying my head on top of his.
My brother came bounding down the stairs, seeing Sirius and I made him quirk an eyebrow. I shook my head at him, telling him it wasn’t what he thought it was. That’s what’s great about having a twin, you don’t even have to speak words for them to know what you are saying or thinking.
“What’s going on Pads?” James asked, coming to sit on the other side of Sirius.
“I left home, and I’m never going back.” he said, staring at the ground.
“I’m sure you could bunk with James for the night Siri, you know mom and dad won’t care.” I said softly, rubbing my hand up and down his back.
“Yeah of course mate, you know you’re always welcome here.” James said, smiling at Sirius.
“I love you guys so much, thank you for being my best friends.” Sirius croaked, sitting up to pull the both of us in for a hug. He kissed the top of my head, my breathing stopped all together.
“Of course Pads,” I said, squeezing him tighter.
After talking to our parents about Sirius’s circumstances, they right away decided that Sirius would be their son now. They made arrangements to start building a new bedroom upstairs so he wouldn’t have to share a room with James.
Sirius was flabbergasted at how incredible our parents were, never being shown motherly love or fatherly love. James, Sirius, and I had become closer than ever during the holiday break when he came to live with us.
Tumblr media
I didn’t want to go back to school, the girls practically threw themselves at Sirius. He loved it of course, being the ladies man that he is. I wanted him all to myself, and I hated myself for it. He was my brother’s best friend for Godric’s sake! How cliche of me to fall in love with my twin’s best friend.
Why couldn’t it have been someone not in our group?
I already knew the answer to that though…those boys weren’t Sirius.
The only person I could confide in was my brother’s long time crush Lily Evans, my only girl best friend. All other girls I had ever been friends with would only use me to get to my brother or Sirius, once they had them, they dropped me. Lily was the only who had stayed, despite being annoyed by my brother’s constant shows of affection and his desperate pleas.
“I wish more than anything we didn’t have to go back to school Lil…Things have been so great here. Of course, you would have to come over to see me.” I said into the receiver of the muggle telephone I had my parents buy so I could talk to my best friend.
“As long as your brother wouldn’t bother us.” she laughed.
“Do you know my brother Evans? He can barely leave me alone, he and Sirius stay annoying me.” I giggled, thinking of how they would truly do anything to get under our skin.
“That’s rude,” came my brother’s voice, obviously picking up the other receiver in the house to eavesdrop.
“James! Get off the phone you twat!” I yelled, letting out a frustrated grunt.
“I wanted to hear if Evans talked about me.” James said, and I could hear the smirk in his voice.
“In your dreams Potter,” Lily spat irritatedly.
“I’ll see you tomorrow at school Lil,” I sighed, hanging up the phone.
“JAMES!” I screamed, hearing footsteps running downstairs.
“I just want to say right now I had nothing to do with it.” Sirius said, holding his hands up in defense.
“Way to stand beside me Pads,” James huffed.
“You both get on my last nerve!” I yelled, stomping my foot for emphasis.
They both laughed at me, I shoved my brother.
“Come on Jags, it was a little harmless prank.” James said, smirking at me.
Jags was the nickname given to me when I became an animagus with the rest of the boys, wanting to help Remus. My animagus was a Jaguar, hence, Jags. I could only imagine the look on my parents face if they knew that not only was I an animagus, but an illegal one.
“I should let Jags out to rip you to shreds Prongs,” I growled.
“You’re sexy when you get violent,” Sirius smirked, making me blush 500 shades of red.
“That’s literally disgusting.” James muttered, adjusting his glasses.
“No worse than what you’ve said to Evans!” Sirius chuckled, patting my brother on the shoulder.
“She’s not one of my best mates sister,” James said, rolling his eyes.
“Alright well, it’s getting late. I’m going to bed, we have a train to catch tomorrow.” I mumbled, turning to run upstairs to my room.
Tumblr media
I was sitting up in bed when I heard a knock at my door, confused to see Sirius on the other side.
“Hey,” I said, smiling up at him.
“Ummm, I just wanted to say good night.” he said, nervously scratching the back of his head.
“Ok, well goodnight then Pads,” I laughed nervously.
“Goodnight sweetheart,” Sirius whispered, leaning and kissing my cheek.
He hurried out of my room and into his, slamming his door shut. I was still frozen in place in front of my room, my hand holding the cheek he kissed. My heart was going a million miles a minute. I felt like I was on top of the world, butterflies erupted in my stomach. I wasn’t sure if this was dream, or reality. Sirius had never gone that far with showing me affection before.
What the fuck is happening?
Tumblr media
It was the start of sixth year, I couldn’t believe our time at Hogwarts was coming to an end in just another year. It was time to start thinking about what we wanted after life at Hogwarts.
I was currently waiting to board the train with my friends, James relentlessly flirting with poor Lily. He was never going to give up, but that’s what I loved the most about him. He never gave up once he set his mind to something.
“What are you think about so hard Jags?” Remus asked, poking my nose.
“Nothing, how was your holiday Rem?” I asked, changing the subject.
“It was good, although, I did miss you all when it was time for you know…” he rambled, running a hand through his hair.
“You should have just came over Remus,” I whispered.
“I didn’t want to risk yours and James’s parents finding out that you all help me.” he said, looking at his feet.
“What’s all this sappy talk about Moony?” Sirius asked, slinging an arm around my shoulders.
“Nothing of your concern Pads, what is taking so long anyways?” I said, taking in my surroundings.
“I’m sure the Slytherin’s are debating how their luggage should be sitting on the train.” Sirius grumbled.
Lily found her way over to us, standing beside me while we waited. Sirius stood behind me, playing with my hair. James and Remus were playing around with a little fire ball they made. And of course Peter was just watching James, going along with whatever they were doing. James was trying extra hard to impress Lily, the both of us would laugh when he would mess up.
Then, Regulus Black walked by, all of us tensing up. He walked up to where Sirius and I were standing. I backed up into Sirius unintentionally, feeling him hold me to him.
“What a pretty one you have here Sirius, does she know you turned your back on your family?” Regulus taunted with a sinister grin.
“They were never my family Reg,” Sirius whispered, gripping on my shoulders tighter.
“Our parents-” Regulus started.
“Our parents are cold hearted, miserable oafs. And that’s saying it kindly.” Sirius said neutrally.
“Blood traitor” Regulus spat through his teeth.
“How about you back the fuck off mate” James sneered, coming to stand between us and Regulus.
“James,” I murmured, grabbing a hold of his arm.
“It’s alright sweetheart,” Sirius whispered, pushing me behind him as he went to stand by James.
“I am happily a blood traitor, I’d take being that over believing that just because of a last name you are above everyone else. There is nothing wrong with believing that all people are equal.” Sirius stated firmly, Regulus taking a step back. He looked at Lily, a disgusted expression on his face.
“Better watch yourself mudblood.” Regulus sneered, my brother lunging at him. Sirius held James back as his brother laughed, walking away.
“James that’s enough!” Lily yelled, yanking on his arm to the cabins.
We were sat on the train, making our way to Hogwarts. The boys all talking loudly and joking about, except for Sirius. He hadn’t spoke since we got on the train, just staring out of the window. I put my hand on his, causing him to turn to me.
“You alright Pads?” I asked softly, he leaned closer to me.
“I’ll be alright,” he whispered, laying his head on my shoulder.
“I’m here for you Siri, always.” I mumbled, kissing his hand.
I was startled awake when the train came to a sudden stop, finally arriving at Hogwarts. Lily and I walked excitedly to the carriages, the boys trailing behind us. Despite going to class, the endless amount of homework, and boring Professor Binns….Hogwarts felt like my second home. I loved being able to use my magic, hanging out with my friends, and of course the secret parties we held.
I was also excited to start Quidditch up again, James was in line for captain and I co-captain. I hoped Sirius would try out this year like I have been begging him to, he was an amazing player. We played a lot over the holiday when it was just him, James, and I.
“I can’t believe our time here is almost up…one more year.” Lily said, looking up at the castle.
“We’ll still be friends after our time ends here Lil?” I asked hopefully.
“Of course! You are my best friend!” she exclaimed, reaching to squeeze my hand.
“Maybe by then you’ll have given my brother a chance,” I teased, laughing when her cheeks became the same color as her hair.
“WATCH OUT MUDBLOOD!” we heard screamed behind us, Lily being knocked to the ground.
I turned to see none other than Bellatrix Black, Sirius’s cousin. I helped Lily up, using magic to pick her books up. I held my wand up to Bellatrix, casting the trip jinx. She gasped as she fell face first on the pavement, people stopping to laugh at her. She turned, her face full of rage as she pointed her wand at me.
“Bitch!” she yelled, waving her wand at me.
“Flipendo!” she shouted, giving a flick to her wrist.
“Protego!” I yelled, effectively blocking her spell before it got to me.
“You have some nerve Potter!” she shouted.
I let out an involuntary growl, my animals instincts coming in to play. I could feel my nails elongating, Jags trying to come out to rip this bitch to shreds. Sirius jumped in front of me, putting his hands on my face to make me look at him. I could see in the reflection of his eyes how mine were glowing a bright green.
“Calm down baby, not here.” he whispered, rubbing my cheeks with his thumbs.
“Lily are you ok?” James asked, obviously not concerned about his sister.
“What’s wrong with your eyes?” Lily asked, hers widening.
“I don’t see anything,” Sirius said, tilting my head side to side.
“Fuck off Pads,” I shoved his hands away, he chuckled in response.
“Well, I’m hungry let’s go.” Peter said, trudging off towards the Great Hall.
Tumblr media
I snuck Lily with me into the boys room later that night, all of us passing around a bottle of fire whiskey.
“Marlene was looking spectacular today, wouldn’t you say Padfoot?” Remus asked, passing on the whiskey.
“We had a thing once Rem, she’s too clingy for my liking.” he said carelessly.
“You say that about every girl your with Sirius,” I laughed.
Although the truth was, my heart was hurting. I hated when they talked about Sirius’s many exploits, especially when those girls were my friends at one point, cearly only using me to get to him. James and Lily were sat on the other side of the room, talking quietly amongst each other. At least my brother found his true love, mine won’t even spare me a second glance.
But I couldn’t stop thinking about the night before we left when he kissed my cheek, and he seemed to be glued to me at the train station. Then he called me baby when I was about to let Jags out. Was he just trying to be friendly? I was starting to get a light buzz from the fire whiskey, becoming more giggly when the guys cracked a joke.
“You think you’ll settle on the hookups Sirius?” Peter asked, laughing at his own question.
“Ahh Wormy, maybe if the right lady comes along.” Sirius slurred, winking at me.
What the hell did that mean?!
Tumblr media
“He’s totally in love with you!” Lily yelled, the both of us getting ready for bed.
“Sirius likes anyone with female organs Lil,” I chuckled.
“Well yes, but you’re different. he looks at you like you stand on top of the world.” she sighed dreamily.
“I think he’s still hung up on Marlene,” I huffed to myself.
“You’re deflecting what the reality is Jags.” she said, brushing her hair out of her face.
“The reality Lily, is that Sirius will never feel that way about me. I’m not like other girls here, I can’t give him what he wants.” I mumbled, stuffing myself in bed.
“Care to put money where your mouth is Potter?” Lily challenged.
“How much we talkin’?” I smirked, letting my Potter side out.
“5 galleons that you’ll be dating before the end of the year.” she said, raising her eyebrow.
“You’re on Evans.” I grinned, setting the money on my nightstand.
Tumblr media
Classes started today, and I got to start my day with Charms. This was one of my favorite classes, I loved learning about charms. Peter and I had this class together, mostly it was just him watching me do everything and then him trying to copy and failing.
“Wormy, you’ve got to swish your wand faster.” I instructed him.
“I’m trying, it’s a lot more easily said than done.” he grumbled, a defeated look on his face.
“You’ll get the hang of it, I’ll help you practice.” I smiled at him.
The next class was Herbology, which I sucked at wholeheartedly. I didn’t see any Gryffindor I knew, starting to panic. All I saw were Slytherins and Ravenclaws, a deadly combination for me being the only Gryffindor in this class so far. I finally saw Remus walking in, my saving grace. Along with him came Sirius, then my brother behind him. They spotted me immediately, waving as I threw my hand for them to come sit with me.
“I really thought I was about to be the only Gryffindor in here, I was starting to panic.” I said, looking around the room again.
“Looks like I’m your knight in shining armor then huh Jags?” Sirius smirked, throwing his arm around my chair.
“Well technically Remus is since I saw him first.” I chuckled, fist bumping Rem. Sirius pouted at me, I reached over to poked his bottom lip.
“You’re only happy Moony is here so he can help you with your homework.” James said, raising his brow at me.
“I know I’m super happy to be here with you Remmy.” Sirius smiled, Remus rolling his eyes at his three best friends.
Professor Beery rolled his eyes when he caught sight of ¾ of the Marauders sitting in his classroom. Making them swear to be on their best behavior, Sirius mock being offended. James took it as a compliment while Remus and I wanted a hole to swallow us.
“Of course Professor, I would never disrupt class.” Sirius said, winking at me.
“I happen to love Herbology Professor,” James said, which was actually true.
At the end, I’d never been so happy to leave a class, my brother and Sirius being the most embarrassing specimen on the face of this Earth. Sirius slung his arm around me as we exited the classroom.
“Come on Jags, it wasn’t that bad.” Sirius smirked, squeezing me harder against him.
“I really hope I don’t have another class with you Padfoot,” I grumbled.
“Well unless you don’t have Transfiguration next, I hate to disappoint.” he said, shrugging his shoulders.
“Fuck me,” I mumbled, rubbing my forehead.
“When and where?” Sirius grinned, and I almost choked on my spit.
“Are you serious?” I asked, my eyes widening.
“I’m always Sirius.” he emphasized his name, I rolled my eyes.
“McGonagall is going to murder you, I can already feel it.” I said, smiling up at him.
“She’s secretly in love with me Jags, you can’t convince me otherwise.” Sirius shrugged.
“Ok Siri, whatever helps you sleep at night.” I laughed, patting his firm chest.
“You’d help me a lot sleeping at night Jagsy” he smiled, holding me closer to him.
I shoved him playfully as we entered the classroom, a couple of Gryffindor girls glowering at me. I assumed they were jealous about Sirius, thinking I was his next conquest and they weren’t. We sat at the back of the classroom, Sirius always eager to be the first out when the class was over. McGonagall walked past our table, raising a scary brow at Sirius and I.
“I promise to make him behave Professor, honest.” I smiled at her.
“I’ll be holding you to that Miss Potter.” she said firmly, my eyes only widened more.
“I love it when you defend me, it’s hot.” Sirius smiled, giving my knee a squeeze.
“You better behave yourself Pads, I’m not getting detention because of you.” I said sternly.
“Alright you have my word sweetheart, I’ll be on my best behavior for you.” he said, kissing the side of my head before turning back to the front of the class.
He kissed me again!
Three kisses in three days!
What is happening?!
The rest of the lesson went smoothly, mostly just reviewing what we had learned in previous Transfiguration classes. McGonagall praising me on keeping Sirius at bay on our way out. Sirius winked at her, earning an eye roll as we exited.
“I told you she loves me.” he winked slyly.
I spent my free period in the library with Lily, I was helping her with a paper she had to write for her Potions class. I had Potions next period, then Defense Against The Dark Arts.
“Something strange happened today Lil…” I spoke up.
“What is it?” she asked, pausing her writing so I could have her full attention.
“Sirius has been a lot more lovey than usual the past couple of days, and I’m really confused by it.” I admitted shyly.
“I told you Potter! I told you that boy is taken with you. You need to make a move.” she said excitedly.
“He’s my best friend, and my brother’s best friend. I can’t do that to him…” I sighed.
“Your brother should be happy for you no matter who you chose to be with Jagsy.” she said, covering my hand with hers.
“I know it’s just…I don’t think Sirius is wanting commitment. I don’t know if he ever will, and that’s what scares me. If I make a move, will he just want me for a hook up, or will he want to be in a real committed relationship?” I rambled, throwing my face in my hands.
“Who is wanting to be in a relationship?” James asked, him and Sirius pulling up seats beside ours.
“No one James.” I huffed, lifting my head.
“Talking about us again Lil?” he asked, raising his eyebrows suggestively.
“We aren’t in a relationship James.” she scoffed.
“Yet.” he said, grinning at the redhead.
“I’ll see you at dinner.” she said to me, getting up to leave. My brother followed after her, leaving just Sirius and I.
“How much you wanna bet she’ll give in by the end of the year?” Sirius asked.
“I think by Christmas.” I said, watching the pair bicker on the way out of the library.
“5 galleons?” Sirius asked, holding his hand out.
“You’re on Pads,” I said, shaking his hand firmly.

Potions went smoothly, I didn’t have this class with any of my group. I was kind of glad because they were really getting on my nerves. I love them to death, but they can be a bit much.
DATDA is where things got interesting because all of us had it together. Sirius ran to me, picking me up and spinning me around. I giggled, telling him to put me down. Severus was also in our class, making me a bit nervous since the boys often picked on him. I never condoned it since he was a good friend of Lily’s, and the boys could be quite vicious to him. Sirius about got him killed last year when he almost found out about Remus.
“Well if it isn’t Snivelly James,” Sirius laughed.
“Sirius leave him alone.” I said, pulling on his sleeve.
“It’s just all in good fun love,” he said, slinging an arm around Severus.
“Sit down everyone.” The professor said.
“Let’s go Pads,” I muttered, pulling on his arm to sit with me.
“No need to get so worked up love,” he whispered as the Professor began the lecture.
I stayed silent, not speaking to him for the rest of the class period. He was doing to Severus what other Slytherins did to him. He followed a lot of what my brother did, James didn’t like him because he was friends with Lily. Sirius knew I was angry with him since I didn’t respond to any of his tactics to get me to talk. Any time he tried to make any kind of contact with me I pushed him away.
“Seriously babe, I’m trying to say I’m sorry.” he whispered, trying to hold my hand again.
“I don’t want to hear it Sirius.” I snarled, getting up and exiting the room quickly when the Professor dismissed us.

Hi everyone, so this is my first story I’m going to be writing on here if anyone has suggestions or anything about my writing please let me know I’m very open to any kind feedback<3
“I will love either way” part 1
Summary- This story is a Remus lupin x reader story based on the song It’ll be okay by Shawn Mendes and will take place in hogwarts the story will have a few time jumps starting in first year and ending in year 7
Warnings- angst, self loathing, talk about scars, kissing, pining, yelling, smut will go into further details when the smut comes in the story, fluff
First year
Y/n was sitting on the hogwarts express with her friend Lily waiting as her fellow first years climb aboard so they can finally start their journey to their new home, after a few more minutes of Y/n staring out the window the train had finally started to move and that’s when Y/n and Lily heard a loud crash from outside their compartment suddenly their door swung open and their stood 3 young boys most likely first years as well, one had longer black hair with sharp grey eyes and very well dressed for an 11 year old boy, the one next to him was slightly shorter than him with curly dark brown hair with large glasses on his face, he was also dressed quite nicely and the 3rd boy was much smaller than the other 2 with blond hair that was slightly messy and blue eyes that seemed much to big for his face.
“ hello there ladies my names Sirius, Sirius Black” Said the boy with the grey eyes and long dark hair.
“This is James Potter my brand new best friend” Sirius said while throwing his arm around the boy with the glasses who you assume must be James.
“And this little man is Peter Petigrew , another friend I’ve made today” Sirius said with much excitement he must be happy to be making friends.
You and Lily just sat there without saying anything as the loud boys who just barged into your compartment stood in the doorway, you felt like there was too much silence and broke it with a warm welcome.
“ hello my name’s Y/n Y/l/n, this is my friend Lily Evans.” You say pointing to the red head across from you, the moment u said her name all the boys eyes went from you to her and you swore u saw James’ eyes bulge out of his head and turn into hearts, your also pretty sure Sirius noticed it as well because he quickly shoved James into the open seat next to Lily before saying
“ well I hope you beautiful ladies don’t mind but all the compartments are full so you get to enjoy our wonderful company during the ride” Sirius then took the seat next to James without waiting for an answer while Peter quietly sat as far as he could away from you.
Sirius’ eyes bulged out of his head for a moment before loudly speaking to James “James we’ve lost Remus”
“Remus? Who’s Remus?” You asked concerned how they lost someone.
“ oh he’s another friend we’ve made today he’s very nice, quiet but nice. Well I will be right back I’m off go find him” and with that Sirius left the compartment off to find this Remus guy that you haven’t met yet.
A few moments go by and Sirius was still not back yet, Peter seemed to have fallen asleep against the side of the compartment and James was talking Lily’s ear off about quidditch, shutting out James’ loud voice and Peter’s snores you opened your book Jane Eyre to where you left off last and continued to read. You were able to complete about 2 more chapters before you heard the compartment door swing open once again and In came Sirius along with lanky boy with sandy brownish auburn hair that was slightly shaggy but in a nice way and he had the nicest hazel eyes but when the sun peaked through the window from behind some trees they seemed almost green, he definitely stood taller then the rest of the boys but his demeanour was much more different he seems to be shy with his head hanging slightly compared to Sirius’ loud composure he also had a few scars on his face not large ones but big enough to notice and he was holding a bunch of sweets from the candy cart that went by a while ago.
“ well Ladies this is the handsome Remus lupin” Sirius said while patting Remus on the back which caused Remus to slightly stumble further into the compartment to where he was about 2 feet away from you.
Remus looked down at you still holding all the sweets in his hand when he slightly smiled at you causing your heart to beat much faster than it was before.
“ … um hi .. it’s very nice to meet you Remus I’m Y/n and that’s my friend Lily” you slightly stumbled over your words talking to this boy and you never stumble over your words hell your so good at speaking you have debate trophies to prove it “ would you like to sit down?” You ask while pointing to the empty place beside you seeing as Sirius already went back to his spot next to James
“Oh um yes please.. I mean Um yes thank you” he said shyly taking the place next you, you noticed he was still holding all those sweets
“ seems like you might be a little hungry” you giggled you actually GIGGLED at him what it’s going on right now why are u giggling
Remus’ cheeks turned a bright red when he looked down at his arms and noticed he was still holding all the sweets “ oh um yeah haha well I got lost and when Sirius found me I was at the candy cart trying to see if I had enough for a chocolate frog so he came up and just bought everything I had in my hands plus more for all you guys” he seemed to be a little more relaxed now still had some walls up they just weren’t as high anymore.
You laughed at what he was saying “ well that’s very nice of you Sirius thanks mate”
Sirius sent you a sly wink saying no problem before going back to his conversation with James
You and Remus chatted some more, Turns out he always loves reading just as much as you do and has also read Jane Eyre and many other classics you love, everyone was enjoying the snacks the boys have brought as well including Peter who basically jumped awake by the sound of wrappers crinkling everyone laughed at that. After everyone enjoyed their sweets you still had another little while before reaching Hogwarts and u felt a little tired to you decided to rest your eyes for a bit what you didn’t intend to do was fall asleep on Remus’ shoulder.
Remus was slightly stunned by this action and tensed a bit causing you to stir a little in ur sleep he didn’t want to wake you so he moved slightly so your head fell onto his chest and he moved his arm around your shoulder to slightly stroke your hair, you seem to calm down when he did that and he smiled lightly to himself
“ seems Remus has made himself quite smitten with out new friends here” Sirius smirked at him and Remus just rolled his eyes and put his attention back onto you this lovely little fragile thing in his hold he was terrified that the smallest movement would somehow break you.
Time skip 6th year
You sat at the Gryffindor table in the great hall with Lily waiting for the headmaster to begin his speech to commence the new year, you have seemed to change a lot over the summer growing slightly taller now reach the hight of 5’6 and ur hair is longer than the short cut u had last year that you cut on an impulse after having a break down so it now reached past your shoulders your thighs have grown a lot more since last year as well not to mention your ass was 2 times bigger than before too your skirts barely fit you anymore - that’s something u might have to bring up to professor Mcgonagal.
The weird thing about this year though was that your boys didn’t sit with you on the train, the infamous Marauders as mostly everyone in school calls them every year since first year would usually find you and Lily on the train to sit with you guys but this year this didn’t show up in your compartment with their loud presence instead u and Lily were joined by Marlene, Dorcas and Mary which was fine they were all your dorm mates any ways and you loved them all dearly you were just wondering where the boys were. Just as the thought crept into ur mind a long arm clad in leather wrapped snuggly around your shoulder.
“Well hello Mrs. y/l/n how are you this find evening?” Sirius said as poured himself some juice into his gobblet
“Sirius where the hell were u on the train?!” You say to him smacking him lightly on the chest while he was sipping his drinking causing him to spill slightly down his chin and chest “ ha you deserve that for ditching me”
He wiped him chin with the back of his hand “well I’m sorry love we were gonna come find u guys but Remus needed to talk to us about something and by the time we were done talking the trip was already have over” at the mention of Remus’ name year cheeks began to grow hot no one knew about ur crush on the Marauder well no one expect for Sirius but you trust him enough to keep that between you two.
“ alright then fine but u have to make it up to me” with a slightly teasing voice you poke Sirius in the ribs playfully
“ of course darling, ou i know the boys and I are having a party tonight in the common room to start of the school year you come and I’ll make sure u get a dance with Remus” he said poking u back in the ribs
“ what about me?” Your head had never moved so fast ur eyes went from Sirius to the tall shy beautiful man standing behind you so quickly you gave yourself whiplash.
“ oh well our sweet little y/n here was upset we didn’t sit with her on the train so I said I’d make it up to her tonight at the party” Sirius smirked at Remus
“ oh yeah y/n I’m sorry we didn’t sit with you I just needed to talk to the boys about something important, but what does the party tonight have to do with me?” Remus said fully turning to face you he’s changed since the last time you seen him, he’s much taller than before standing no shorter then 6’3 he holds himself with more confidence than before and he has a new scar over his left eye seems to be fresh.
“ well moony y/n was saying how she wants to dance with someone tonight and of course who better to dance with our girl than the second best dancer in the Marauders” Sirius laughed at ur wide eyes and flushed cheeks
“ oh yeah sure id love to dance with you y/n you always were a beautiful dancer” you didn’t think it was possible for your cheeks to become and more red than before alas your proven wrong
“ oh thank you Remus I appreciate that but u don’t have to save me a dance tonight if you don’t want to”
“Oh I’m not gonna save u a dance tonight, you’ll be the only one I’m going to be dancing with” he sent u a wink and you swore your heart stopped beating for a second, Remus has always teased you but this was different this was like a shot of confidence and flirting it made u dizzy.
“ well in that case I’ll make sure I pull out all the great moves tonight” you say trying to hide your blush
“ anyways mind if I sit?” He asked point to the spot in-between you and Sirius
“ no not at all” you shoved over so Remus could sit beside you practically shoving into Lily which caused her to push you back a little too hard to the point when ur thigh was almost on top of Remus’ “ oh I’m so sorry Lily shoved me a little to hard”
He leaned forward so he could speak into ur ear “it’s quite alright darling it’s not everyday a beautiful girl is practically sitting on my lap” he placed a hand a the small of ur back and u felt ur body melt at his touch.
This year is going to be very interesting.

Thunderstorms
Pairing: James x slytherin!reader.
Word count:1100-ish
Writing type: Imagine
Warnings: talk about abuse, trauma, Lucius Malfoy
Tumblr media
It was a stormy day in December. Y/N was sitting on the couch in the Head dorm she shared with her new best friend, James Potter.
The two had met in their first year but didn’t maintain their friendship because of their rival houses. The grew to hate each other, almost, and would sneer everytime they saw each other.
It didn’t help that James was overly annoying when it came to Lily Evans. He did all of this elaborate stuff to get her attention, and she wouldn’t give him the time of day. Most of the Hogwarts students got annoyed by it but found it endearing. Y/N just found it annoying. It was mostly because she missed their friendship.
In 6th year, though, Lily and James finally got together. James figured out that the reason he wanted her attention was because she was the only female that didn’t throw herself at him. It was all about the chase. James also found himself missing Y/N. The ‘dream couple’ broke up three months after they got together. So one day, while she was in the library, he came up to her and talked to her. While she thought this was suspicious, she truly wanted his friendship again. After that, it was pretty easy to fall into a routine.
The two would do anything for each other and Y/N even became an honorary Marauder.
The portrait door opened to reveal a sweaty James, looking exhausted. He dropped his bag in the entrance and closed the portrait. Y/N looked up from her book.
"Are you alright, James?" She asked, concerned. She closed her book and stood up. She walked directly in front of him and furrowed her eyebrows.
"I'm fine, Y/N/N. Just tired," He sighed. He leaned forward and placed his forehead on her shoulder. She wrapped her arms around his neck, running her fingers through his curly, black hair and the other hand up and down his back. James wrapped his arms around her shoulders, sighing once again.
"Did you go to dinner?" She asked. He shook his head on her shoulder. "Are you hungry?"
"Kinda," James mumbled, his voice muffled by her shoulder. He straightened up and moved his arms to her waist.
"Will you make me breakfast while I go take a shower?" He asked pouting. Y/N laughed.
"Of course. Go take a shower. You stink from Quidditch practice," She said smirking at the end. She moved out of his arms and walked to their small kitchenette.
She pulled out a pan for his eggs and pancakes and conjured a toaster. James scoffed.
"I do not stink. If anything it makes me hotter." He said indignantly. Y/N raised an eyebrow as she turned around to face him from where she was mixing the pancake batter.
"Sureee,”She said. She turned back around as James huffed.
"Whatever. I'll be back,” He said turning to go upstairs.
Y/N laughed and continued to make his dinner.
Ten minutes later, James came down the stairs with dripping wet hair. He was wearing gray sweatpants and a red shirt. Y/N smiled and set his plate on the bar.
"You're dinner, kind sir," She said bowing. James chuckled and sat down on a stool.
"It looks delicious, Ms. L/N," He said in a posh voice. Y/N laughed.
"Thank you, Mr. Potter," She said. James laughed and dug into his dinner.
Y/N walked into the living room and sat on the couch, reading a book. After a few minutes, she heard footsteps and felt someone sit beside her. She looked up to see James looking at her.
"Did you need something?" She asked.
"No. Just wanted to tell you that I was going to bed. And that it looks like it's going to storm." He said getting up. He knew about the abuse and what Lucius did. He also knew that Y/N had recovered somewhat, but it’s still fresh. Y/N froze, which he noticed. “Hey, it’s gonna be ok. I’ll be here if you need me.”
Y/N nodded and smiled faintly.
"Goodnight. You know where to find me," He said walking up the stairs.
"Night James,” She said, louder than before. She heard his door close and she exhaled. She didn't know what she was going to do.
From her 5th year until the end of 6th, Y/N was in a relationship with a guy named Lucius Malfoy. It was a good relationship, up until he started beating her. He would often get drunk after he found out that his parents arranged his marriage to Narcissa Black. He wanted the freedom to make his own choices. He took his anger out on Y/N and the thunder always reminded her of when he would throw things at her. But, often times, he would beat her during thunderstorms while at school so no one would suspect anything.
She thought she loved him, but as soon as he hit her the first time, she knew she didn't. She used glamour charms to cover the bruises. After James and Y/N had rekindled their friendship, he started noticing things. He noticed how she flinched when he would reach towards her or put his arm around her. He noticed how she limped or would complain about her wrist hurting.
He finally figured out that Lucius was beating her. He confronted the blond and hexed him. McGonagall would have given him a detention for the hexing but she couldn’t find the heart to. Lucius got several months worth of detentions.
Y/N heard light rain start to fall against the window. She sighed and got up. She walked upstairs to her room.
Grabbing her pajamas, which consisted of shorts and a Slytherin tshirt, she walked into the bathroom and took a shower.
As the water ran over her, she tried her best not to think about the thunder and the rain. Memories flashed and she slowly started getting panicked. But, she allowed the water to soothe her and she forced herself to calm down.
After the shower, she got into her bed. She looked over to her balcony door to see rain beating against the door. Y/N whimpered and got under the covers, pulling them over her head.
A bang of thunder made her jump. She began shaking as the thunder got louder and more intense. A lone tear slipped out of her eye followed by more.
They made their way down her checeks as she stood up.
She walked out of her door and walked over to Janes's. She hesitantly knocked on his door. A few seconds later, a shirtless James opened the door.
"Ye- why are you crying?" He asked as soon as he noticed the tears flowing down her cheeks. Y/N sniffed.
"C-can I sleep in your bed with you?" She asked timidly. James's face softened as he saw how shaken up she was.
"Y-yeah of course." He said opening the door more to let her in. She walked into his red and gold room, still shaking. He closed the door and got into his bed, holding the covers up for her to get in. She walked over to his bed and sat down.
She slowly laid down and got under the covers. She laid next to James. Another bang of thunder sounded and she jumped into his arms, burying her face in his chest.
"Hey. Shh. It's okay. I'm here." James cooed, wrapping his arms around her and running his fingers through her hair. Y/N whimpered. "Just try to go to sleep. I've got you. I won't let anything get you," He said. Y/N nodded and tried to sleep. He kissed her forehead and went to sleep.
Eventually, Y/N fell asleep in his arms, enveloped in his warmth.

Anxious
Anxious
Sirius Black x Evans!reader
Warnings: a bit of angst, My terrible writing
You stared out the window of the classroom, enjoying the lovely pitter-pattering of the rain on the glass that was, much to your delight, drowning out the teacher. You had woken up with a severe headache that morning and were in no mood for classes, let alone Ancient Ruins with a ghost teacher. You had in no way, shape, or form, any need for-
“Miss. Evans.” Your head turned to the teacher who was, along with the rest of the class, staring at you. “Care to translate?” He motioned to the board which the class had begun to decode.
“Sure. ‘To everyone who wishes death in some form or another, drink from a goblet which has no master’.” He stared at you with a nearly angry face.
“That is correct.” he spoke through his gritted, transparent, teeth. “Please try and pay attention from now on.”
“Of course, sir. But, as you have just seen, I have been paying perfect attention the entire time. Please continue on with this painfully exciting lesson.” He stared at you for a moment more before gritting his teeth again and continuing on with the lesson. You turned your attention back out the window, blocking out his lesson yet again.
Lily, your twin sister, caught up to you at lunch and started to ask how classes had been going in her own cherry way that made you want to hurl. You were not the typical Evans. You were not a goody goody twinkle toes like Petunia. You were not a sweet flower like Lily, you were just you. Your family referred to you as the “Biker” which was weird because you had no interest in leather or motorcycles or teasing your hair up to atrocious heights. You had no clue why no one would let you just be, ever. You were a tired anit-social introvert who got social anxiety that resulted in you being overly sarcastic and awkward. Lily, was your opposite and was completely oblivious. Well, you couldn’t take it that day. No you most certainly could not.
“Lily! Just shut up! Please! I just lived my entire day, I don’t need to recite it to you! Christ all mighty woman!” She stared at you, taken aback by your sudden outburst. She opened her mouth to say something but the only thing that came out was:
“Oh.” After a moment more she mumbled an apology and walked away glumly. You felt bad. You had never yelled at your sister before. You had never yelled at anyone before. You barely ever spoke three words unless you had to, class that day being the exception. You were just so tired of everyone being on your case.
“A bit harsh, Evans don’t you think?” You turned and stared at your tormentor. A true “Biker” in your opinion. Or, technically “Greaser”. I mean, seriously, the shine on his hair from how greasy it was was truly a feat you had no idea how he managed.
“Shove off, Black.”
“Oh,” he said dramatically. “The hurtfulness of the words! How will I ever be able to move on?” You grounded your teeth and stared at him, hating how short you were. You blew a strand of brown hair from your eyes, getting your looks from your dad and not your mom.
“I said, shove off. I’m not in the mood.”
“Oh? And what's this? She knows more words than just ‘shove off, Black’?”
Sirius Black. Your tormentor since first year. You had no idea how the stupid little rivery started between the two of you, nor did you care. You hated him with all of your being, more than you hated most people.
You raised your middle finger at him and brushed past him. He scoffed.
“Best you got, Evans?” He mocked.
“Figured your hair was disgrace enough. Don’t need me to say anything to embarrass you when you got that mop on your head!” You shouted back. That got him to shut up and you scurried to the owlery to meet with Henry, you beautiful brown horned owl.
You scratched your owl’s head and he gladly rubbed his head against your palm with an affectionate and grateful hoot. You laughed lightly and sniffled, shoving the tears off of your face. You placed your head against his and took a breath in and out, composing yourself. The anxiety bubbling back down from the day’s attention.
“Well well well. What do we have here?” You froze at his voice. Had I forgotten to mention your other tormentor. Or rather, group of tormentors? “Little Evans and her stupid little owl.” Lucius said. You heard Bellatrix cackle behind you and a few more snickers. How many were there today?
“Heard you were a bit mouthy today, love.” Bella said, walking around you. She was so close you felt her breath on her neck and it caused a chill to run down your spine.
“Please leave me alone,” you whispered. Another cackel cut through the air and you jumped. Your owl screeched as a means of trying to protect you.
“Aw, Mr. Owl wants to protect his little bitch?”
“Leave him out of this!” You yelled. Getting protective of the only good thing you had ever had.
You felt a hand grab your hair and yank you backwards. You yelled as you fell back onto Lucius Malfoy.
“What did you say to me? Are you giving us orders?” You swallowed and before you could say anything, your owl lunged at Lucius and attacked.
He dropped you as a means to protect his face but the sound he let out let you know that Henry had gotten his target. Lucius had a small scratch on his face beside his eyes that had begun to bleed.
“You stupid beast!” he yanked out his wand and before you could do anything he shouted out his curse. “Petrificus Totalus!” He shouted. Your lovely brown bird dropped mid-flight and hit the floor with a thunk.
“Henry!” You yelled and began to crawl to him, only to be dragged backwards by your hair.
“Teach you and your stupid beast to mock me.” He grumbled and threw you against the wall of the tower. You felt something wet drip down your neck.
Is it raining out?
Your ears were ringing loudly.
Who's ringing bells?
And your vision was blurred and fuzzy all over.
“Get her Lucius!” Bella shouted and you felt a sharp pain in your side. You let out a noise that didn’t sound quite human, or animal for that matter. You saw your bird, his brown feathers and beautiful wings spread out and frozen in their place.
You let out another whine as he abused your body more. Where you had no idea. It all hurt at this point that it was impossible to pinpoint a designated spot.
“Hey!” Someone shouted. The abuse stopped, but your body still throbbed mercilessly. You heard footsteps and people talking, but you couldn’t make anything out. All you could focus on was how tired you had gotten and how badly your body ached.
Why was it hiring again?
“Hey.” someone said again and you felt someone gently grab your face, causing you to whine and try to pull away, but they wouldn’t let you. They just turned your face to get a different perspective. You whined and tried to pull away again.
“Prongs!” You heard them shout, making you cry out in pain. Your head spun. “Sorry. I’m sorry. You’re going to be f-”
“Henry.”
“What?”
“H-henry. My-my owl. Get him first. Is-is he ok?”
“Your a bit more hurt than-”
“Please.” You cried. “Please he’s my-he’s my only friend. Please get him first. Please.” He was silent for a moment and more footsteps made their way up the tower stairs. “Please… you whispered.
“Ok… ok.”
The noises coming from the owlery were not ones that should be and they were just the ones that made Sirius Black pick up his pace just slightly. Remus and James were waiting for him at the bottom. A five second trip was definitely going to take a bit longer.
He rounded the corner to find a mess of white hair focused on something on the ground. A mess of curly black hair egging him on. And three more stooges from the Slytherin house snickering in the corner watching it all happen. An owl was laid out frozen on the ground but he paid no attention to that.
“Hey!” Lucius froze and gave one more swift kick before looking over his shoulder and smirking.
“Well. If it isn’t Si-Ah!” Sirius yanked him away from whoever he was kicking and threw him towards the door. His dear cousin yelled at him but he just glared at her and the rest of them.
Lucius pulled himself off the ground and brushed off his clothes.
“Let's go. He’s not worth our time.” Lucius grumbled and scurried off. The Slytherins all glared at Sirius but left.
Sirius turned to see who it was they were bullying. The figure lying on the floor, bruised and bloodied, caused him to freeze. Y/N Evans.
He rushed to her and knelt down tilting her head so that he could get a better look at her face. Even worse than what he had originally thought. The sight caused him to cringe.
“Prongs!” He shouted. She cried out, loudly, and he froze before profusely apologizing. “You’re going to be f-”
“Henry,” she said weakly, making his insides twist. How badly had they beaten her?
“H-henry. My-my owl. Get him first. Is-is he ok?”
“Your a bit more hurt than-”
“Please.” She cried. “Please he’s my-he’s my only friend. Please get him first. Please.” Sirius stayed quiet for a moment. He swallowed and just stared at her. “Please…” she whispered desperately.
“Ok… ok.” He said. James had arrived at the stairs and ran to the two of them.
“What happened?” He asked, Remus right behind him.
“Not quite sure. Come on.” He lifted up Y/N and she groaned again.
“Henry.” Sirius sighed and shook his head.
“And bring the damn bird,” he grumbled.
You woke up in the infirmary, god only knows how long later. It was dark now, so you definitely missed lunch. It would explain why your stomach was doing flips.
Your body ached all over, inside and out. You sat up, holding a groan in as you looked around the room. Well, as much of the room as you could see. The white sheets separated your section from the other patients’.
It was completely silent in the room. Well, except for someone’s breath right next to you. You looked over to see the one, the only, Sirius Orion Black sleeping in the chair right next to you. You stared at him for a moment and opened your mouth to say something (like you would have) when you heard someone clear their throat in front of you.
You looked to the opening of your section to see Madame Pomfrey standing there with her cart. She looked you up and down before looking to Sirius.
“You have a good friend there, you know.” You stared at her, slightly confused. She walked in, pulling the cart with her. “He refused to leave until you woke up. Poor thing must have fallen asleep waiting for you.” She hesitated and looked at you very seriously. “Don’t tell anyone I said that. I have a reputation to uphold, I trust you understand that Miss. Evans.”
“Why did he stay? What even happened? I-I don’t remember-”
“He came in here with his friends, Potter and Lupin, carrying you and an owl. The owl was easy to fix, he’s resting back in the owlery, you on the other hand were a bit of a challenge.”
“But I still-”
“You were severely beaten by one of your classmates, it appears. Mr. Black was kind enough to bring you in. I told him that you would be fine but he was quite insistent that he stayed until he knew you were better. I’m surprised he’s stayed as long as he has. On second thought-”
“How long was I out for?”
“Three days.” Your eyes went wide.
“Three-but I-how?”
“Much blunt force to your head. But you are healing nicely.” You looked over to Sirius who was slouching uncomfortably in the hard chair.
“Why did he stay?”
“As I said Miss. Evans, you have a good friend. Or are you-”
“No.” You answered, still staring at him. “No we aren’t.”
“Hm,” she hummed, checking you over. “Well, I would reevaluate the situation if I were the two of you.”
The wounds she was worried about were fine for the evening. She told you to get some rest and she would recheck you in the morning. When she left, though, you didn’t fall asleep. All you could do was stare at your tormentor and wonder why. Why was he still here? Why did he save you from Malfoy and his pack? Just why?
It was just breaking dawn when Sirius started to stir. You had been preparing yourself for what you were going to do when he woke. You were going through your options and finding a nice way to thank him and ask all your questions. But by no means were you prepared to speak with him so quickly!
His eyes opened and you stared at the stormy ones with a blank mind. It took him a minute to register that you were awake. He shot up from his chair.
“Y/N!” He was so loud it made your head spin. “Are you ok? How do you feel? What has Madame Pomfrey-”
“Why are you here?” you asked bluntly, cringing at the way it came out. He opened his mouth a few times before sinking back into his seat.
“I-I just wanted to make sure you were alright.” He stuttered. You couldn’t believe it. You had never heard anything but confidence in his voice, but now? Pain? Hurt? Worry? Unsureness? This was not the Sirius Black you had grown to hate.
You swallowed and shifted under his gaze. It was heavy. So heavy. Heavier than the canoe your uncle made you carry last summer to the lake.
“I’m fine.”
Why were your words so harsh? What was wrong with you?
You watched as he slunk back into himself further.
“Well then I guess-” he stood and panic took over your body. “I’ll leave.” He cleared his throat and pushed his hair back. You stared at the mop. Less greasy than it had been. There was no shine, it was instead like the night sky. Pitch black. So black nearly blue. It was actually mesmerizing. Naturally bouncy.
He had bags under his eyes and unease in his posture.
What was wrong with you?
He waited a second for you to say something but you never did. He hung and shook his head glumly before leaving the area. All you could do was watch him go. None of your questions answered and guilt was coursing through your entire body.
You were discharged a week later. Lily brought you your school work while you were in the hospital, but never really said much else. She still must not have gotten over when you had yelled at her, which you felt terrible about.
But now, freshly out of the infirmary, you were determined to set things right with her and Sirius. Although, you had been saying that for days now.
One day you tried to apologize when she had come to give you your work. It didn’t exactly go according to plan.
“Here is transfigurations, potions, herbology, and divinations. If you have any questions or need any help-”
“Lily, I’m sorry.” She paused and looked up from her folder.
“Sorry?”
“Uh yeah.”
“Sorry for what, Y/N/N?” You swallowed.
“For snapping at you, the other day. At lunch?”
“I remember. I’m not mad at you, Y/N/N.”
“You're not?”
“Not for that.” You stopped and stared at her.
“Then for what-”
“I’m upset that I had to find out that my twin sister has anxiety from someone other than herself.”
“You-”
“Know? Yes. I know, Y/N. Why didn’t you ever tell me? Did you feel like you couldn’t? I just… I don’t understand.” You stared at her for a moment, not knowing how to respond. Your heartbeat sounded in your ears and your breathing became restricted a little.
You opened your mouth to speak, but nothing came out. Lily just shook her head and sighed. Almost like she expected you to say nothing.
“Listen, Y/N, I’m your sister. Twin sister. Does that not mean anything to you? At all? You're supposed to be able to tell me everything. So, yeah, I’m a little hurt that I had to hear this from Sirius.”
“Sirius?”
“Yes.”
“Sirius Black?”
“No, Y/N. Sirius Dawson. Yes, Sirius Black! Why? Did you swear him to secrecy? I didn’t even know you two talked.”
“We… we don’t.” She looked at you, staring for a few minutes.
“Oh.” She stayed silent and looked down. “I… well… I’ll talk to you when you get out. At James’ game, maybe? On Sunday.”
“Yeah. Maybe.” She smiled and squeezed your leg. Then she got up and left.
The first stop you made, on this particularly snowy Saturday, was to the owlery. Henry came flying over to you the second you stepped foot in the tower. He hooted and rubbed his head under your own. You giggled and scratched under his chin.
“Miss me, did you buddy?” He hooted again and you walked over to the balcony to look over the snowy scene of the Hogwarts grounds. “Look what I brought you.” You unraveled the nut and seed cake you had in your pocket and held it up to him. Henry hooted happily and started to peck away at his treat. You laughed and set him on the banister alongside the cake.
The two of you sat in silence as you stared out at the scene. Henry pecked away happily and you sat there miserable. The gears in your head spinning faster and faster as you thought more about what Lily said.
You weren’t surprised Lily didn’t know that you had anxiety. You were surprised that Sirius knew. And even more surprised to hear that he had told Lily. Why? In defense of you? You didn’t understand.
Henry hooted before flying off the edge and to someone behind you. You never saw him do that to anyone but you before. To say you were a bit jealous that he left his cake unfinished to see whoever had walked in would be an understatement. But then you turned around.
He climbed the stairs up and up to the owlery. He came at the same time every day since Y/N had gotten hurt. Henry was a very dependent and protective creature. When Sirius came the first day, he was a mess. A flurry of feathers and in such a tizzy. Since he recognized him as one of the good guys from when she got attacked, he flew immediately to his shoulder. Since then, Henry greeted Sirius each time he came to visit, each time more friendlier than the last.
Today was no different. As usual, Henry flew immediately to his shoulder and nuzzled the side of his face in greeting. Sirius chuckled and rubbed his head. He started to walk to the balcony when he noticed that today was different. Someone was standing there watching him.
You were standing there watching him.
He swallowed and the two of you stared at each other awkwardly.
“Hi.” He said when he finally found his voice again. He was so relieved to see that you were alright. You didn’t like him, he knew that. He knew why, too. He just didn’t know how to change that. The sad fact in it all was that he loved you. He had always loved you and he knew he would continue to always love you.
“H-hi.” You said, he felt his heart skip a beat. Your voice was quiet and you were fidgeting with your hands. Merlin, you were perfect.
“How are you feeling?” He asked, slowly walking over to you.
“Fine, I guess.” You answered, scratching the back of your neck. You began to fidget and Sirius could tell you were about to run. He couldn't have that. He couldn't let you leave him again. He shouldn't have left the last time, he knew that and he regretted it.
You took a step and he jumped in front of you without a plan in mind. You jumped back, startled by his sudden movement. He backed down when he noticed how he reacted and caused you to receive even further.
“Uh, sorry. I just-I want to make sure you are fine. Completely fine, and all.”
“Um… Yeah. I-I’m fine.” The silence returned as Sirius waited. He didn’t want to push you to talk, but he was a bit desperate to speak with you. He had avoided you for an agonizing week. A whole week! Well, sort of. He would often sneak into the hospital wing in the dead of night when everyone, including you, were asleep. Not like a creep like he knew it sounded, he was just worried. He always was.
From day one he had noticed your anxiety, both him and Regulus suffered from it, in different ways but still suffered from it. When he noticed your closed figure and down cast eyes first year he knew immediately that you were not ok. He had tried to be nice to you, to ease you a little bit, but nothing he did worked. It all backfired on him. And I mean all I mean ALL. Everything he would say came out wrong and every gesture he did simply made you more uncomfortable. Some time around 3rd year everything turned hostile. Your anxiety had gotten worse and instead of just shrinking away you had a tongue that was sharper than a knife. For some reason, this drew him in even more. He had no idea what had caused the switch in you, but he could tell you had become worse from when you had left Hogwarts. Ever since then, he had watch you closely, occasionally teasing you since that was the only way he could get any sort of interaction with you.
“Sirius-” He looked at you with wide eyes eager to hear what you had to say, but you stopped, leaving your mouth open. He waited. “How… How did you know about my anxiety?”
He swallowed.
“And more importantly, why did you tell Lily?” He was silent and now you waited.
“Lily was… well, she was hurt by your reaction and wouldn’t stop… um…”
“Complaining?” He hesitated but nodded. You sighed.
“I… I got tired of listening to it and snapped, I guess. She didn’t have a response.”
“You stood up for me?” He nodded. “Why?”
“Uh…”
“Why would you stand up for me against my sister and the Slytherins? Why help me to the Hospital wing and insist on staying until I wake up. Why sneak in when you think I’m sleeping?”
“You know about that?”
“Do you know how impossible it is to sleep on those beds?” you smirk. He let a crooked smile lift the corner of his mouth. “But, honestly, Sirius, why?”
“I…” He cleared his throat and itched the back of his head, looking away. Was that blush you saw on his cheeks? “I just was worried about you.”
“Why? You don’t like me.” His head shot up, eyes wide with panic which startled you.
“That's not true.”
“It-its not?”
“No.”
“But all the bullying and…”
“It's the only way I could get any sort of attention from you.” You furrowed your eyebrows, itching your hand. He could see the skin about to open, so he grabbed your hand making you jump. He placed it at your side and let go. “Listen, Y/N. I like you. I understand that you probably don’t like me. But, I had no idea how to get any sort of attention from you. I never did anything out of malice, even though it sounded like it. Honestly, I’m sorry, Y/N.”
You swallowed not knowing if you should believe him or not.
“I would like it if we could be friends, Y/N. I know what you’re going through. The anxiety.. Maybe I could help you?” You bit your lip. Should you trust him? You had never trusted anyone like this before.” Please. Give me a chance to make things right.”
You nodded and he let out a breath, one he didn’t know he had been holding. He wouldn’t mess this up. He couldn’t. Not for anything in the world.
Hey guys! Hoped you liked it! Let me know in the comments. Also let me know if you want a part two!!!!
