Master Tapal and Cal is unironically my favourite Master and Padawan duo, do I have an explanation for why? No(Cal's my fav that's probably why) and I'm sad because there's like, no canon lore about them other than what we've seen, I hope we get to hear more tidbits about their adventures during the clone wars in the next game.

YES THEYRE SO GOOD!!! I mean. cal being assigned a master way too young bc the temple can't keep up with him being so good at everything (was he using psychometry to learn skills quicker than other padwans, yes or yes) and bc of the war is fun on its own but giving him a master expressly to teach him how to take an L loll?? + i think they gave him tapal bc he can just pick cal up by the back of his tunic so he can't get into trouble. like a mama cat. it's the only way to stop him

No one ever tells Obi-Wan that he is his Master's padawan.

Of course, for most people who had known Qui-Gon Jinn, telling someone else they resembled the the man would in fact be a thinly veiled insult. But still, Obi-Wan feels the absence of comparisons almost as strongly as he feels the absence of his Master.

There is no one for Obi-Wan to push against now, no strong presence at his side, ready to grab him by scruff and pull him back from another reckless stunt. It's an odd feeling. He has been set loose against his wishes. There is no one to his left and Anakin at his heels, but Anakin had needed, still needs, a strong, gentle figure for his prickly but sensitive heart. For even their worst bickering could not hold a candle to the scathing remarks he and Qui-Gon had shot at each other and Obi-Wan knows he cannot push and needle Anakin in the same way.

When Qui-Gon had been alive they had been an amusing, mirrored pair, the maverick and his rule-following padawan. Opposites clashing against each other, yet working together to complete the most difficult missions. Few saw that Qui-Gon's impertinence had indeed rubbed off on his padawan, cultivated from that small, angry initiate, because the only way to rebel against the rule-breaker had been to parrot the Council fastidiously. No one would ever get to see that again. Obi-Wan is one half of a mirrored pair trying to complete a routine on his own. What once was an impish, teasing compliance is now a betrayal of all his Master's values.

"How could Qui-Gon raise such a model Jedi?" He hears them say, "It's admirable that Master Kenobi was appointed to the Council despite his Master's maverick ways."

Padawan Kenobi would have yelled and kicked and screamed. Master Kenobi is serene. It should feel like an achievement. It feels like a disappointment.

Sometimes, Obi-Wan looks at the shape of the man he has moulded himself into, and aches to be his Master's padawan.

i cannot for the life of me remember who made that post with the headcanon about the black family losing a lot of their wealth.

but i've been thinking about it a lot. and in england from early to mid 1900s, the aristocracy changed fundamentally as a class, they lost a lot of their previous held power as well as a lot of their money. and because of this, they either had to get a job (the aristocracy is the leisure class. they don't work), which means leaving behind the traditions of your class and your family in order to modernise and keep your money/power, or they could sell off their large estates/lands/artworks in order to keep tradition of the aristocracy as much as they could, but it meant losing a lot of money/power.

there's this quote describing this change in the aristocracy actually- "less power, more prestige". in staying with the traditions of old money, they lose the power they had in government/economy/whatever, but gain lots of admiration and respect from society- like they still have honour and integrity despite losing their money and power, which then becomes their primary tool in still being seen as an influential family.

and with the black family being known as "the noble and most ancient house of black", that definitely could show they chose that pathway. they're clinging onto their lineage of nobility in a time when the aristocracy as a class and the idea of high society is very much falling apart. and unlike quite a lot of these families, they don't modernise but instead keep their heads high and very much make it known that they are nobility and an ancient family, and have no intentions of disrupting this and losing the meaning of what being an aristocrat and a noble used to mean.

my desire to have tu.lin be unrelated to the first sage of wind because i love the rito champions being just Some Guys who grabbed destiny by the neck with all their grit and drive and sheer, hard work VS my desire for the intrapersonal conflict that emerges from a lineage connection implying his 'specialness' comes more from Being Born rather than all the effort he put into forging a place for himself as a young rito warrior: FIGHT

... okay since off also includes outliers, I had a rather horrible idea. More ruthless Primes could definitely have a harem just for the purpose of getting loyal outliers. Or city speakers. Or titans.

I think most Primes would be happy with one dedicated consort, however.

I'm remembering some of my High Lord Protector plotlines that most definitely fulfill that role of "dedicated consort", and I'm internally trying to puzzle out which prime would be most likely to do this and so far my main most name is Sentinel Prime

Still haunted and unsure whether or not to make the dragons of my universe synapsids or diapsids, and if it really even matters when they aren't even evolutionarily related to the common ancestor of all quadripeds nor would their anatomy ever even be a thing in the books to begin with
