Hi, I don't know how to interacts with a fandom, my blog isn't specifically about Ninjago but I love the show and recently found a post you and other Ninjago fans might like.
It's a post comparing English and Polish dubbing of Ninjago. Here it is!
Credit to mlydo.
I think it would've been a cool trend if other people compared dubbings in other languages. So, let's get the ball rolling and good luck.
P.S.
You may wonder why I picked you as the chosen one. I just wrote ''Ninjago Fandom'' and you showed up. : -)

Ninjago headcanons just FSM family
(Sorry for my English but it is not my native language)
1#
Lloyd discovered one day that if he just calls Wu uncle he can get out of any trouble (because Wu adores his nephew), which he often uses to his advantage, for example, when he was still a child, he would often approach Wu and ask for various things, and if Wu did not agree, he would simply say "Okay, Uncle Wu" in the saddest voice he could, which made Wu immediately change his mind and agree. As Lloyd got older he stopped using it as much but still does it sometimes. Best of all, everyone is aware of this except Wu himself, so if the ninja want to do something and know that Wu won't agree, they send Lloyd to "convince" Wu.
2#
FSM was a teenage parent, I'm mean in season 15 it was said that when he came to ninjago he was still a child and as we know hybrids age differently so I'm sure when he created Wu and Garmadon (I don't give a damn that this man had a woman, I just don't see it) he was still a teenager and mentally he could have been about 18-20 years old.
3#
I'm sure FSM tried to be a good parent but didn't know what to do, apart from the fact that he was still a teenager at the time, this man never had any idea what a healthy family should look like, he literally was a child soldier and had to choose between dragons and Oni and I suspect that neither the dragons or the Oni were not very nice to him and they probably didn't have much affection for him. And unfortunately it was visible, but he loved his sons (and he certainly loves his grandson).
4#
So screw the canon, Wu never loved Misako, he didn't like her at first (because he claimed she was stealing his brother because Garmadon only talked about her), later he started liking her and then they became good friends.
5#
So when I said that Wu doesn't love Misako, I mean that Wu is gay, no really look at the teenage version of him, he can't be straight.
6#
I am sure that Wu was the creator of many fashion trends, considering that back then there was not much fashion and Wu had the power to create, he had to create many clothes that no one had ever seen before. Many of these clothes were very sexy and revealed a lot of things.
7#
Due to the way Wu dressed, many men stared at him and flirted with him, which of course neither Garmadon or their father not liked, that's why they never sent Wu to the city alone, someone always went with him and whenever a man tried to hit on him he got a death glare from Garmadon or FSM (which must have been terrifying, as if God himself wants to kill you because you thought in a erotic way about his son and also Garmadon who is the essence of destruction and intends to rip out your organs for looking at his younger brother).
8#
FSM loves his grandson, the guy literally gave him his golden power without a second thought and even let him choose between life and death, he must adore Lloyd.
9#
Before the events of Season 1, when Lloyd was expelled from school and wandered the streets, FSM was his guardian angel. He made sure Lloyd didn't hurt himself, and when he did something to himself, he simply accelerated his regeneration with his divine powers, when Lloyd had nothing to eat, he directed him to places where food could be easily obtained. In episode 1 of season 1, when Lloyd gets to the tomb, he falls over perfectly to avoid being hypnotized and the leader of the snakes hypnotized himself, it not way that this kid failed perfectly, I'm actually sure that his grandfather helped him

new au time. i am insane. thoughts under the cut!
Tumblr media
street racing au time!! i know i said i would talk more about children of the storm but i couldn’t help myself ok?? i call this the 'ninja go fast au' hkjefhjks
THIS AU!! LIVES RENT-FREE!! IN MY BRAIN!! heres the stitch: within the depths of ninjago city, there are two rival street racing groups (gangs? troops? whatever) who are constantly trying to one-up each other. the first group is ‘the wu-crew’ (jay came up with the name), which consists of kai (co-leader), nya (co-leader), cole, jay, and zane. they are ‘managed’ by wu (codeword for he pays for everything and manages the garage), who used to be the co-leader of another well-known street racing crew with his brother, who he barely speaks about for reasons unknown. speaking of who! garmadon manages the wu-crew’s rival team: the garmadorks. this team consists of lloyd (co-leader), morro (co-leader), harumi, akita and brad. I genuinely think these guys would make a killer group together, the shenanigans that would ensue of them being in the same room would be INCREDIBLE.
moving on! to clarify some of the world-building, there are no elemental powers or dark magic or whatever the heck. this au is set in a modern au, except maybe a few years into the future so that everyone is a bit older in this au.
ok! time for some important character stuff (I will not be covering all 10 main characters cuz I wanna keep this a bit short! you can always send an ask my way if you wanna know smth abt a specific character :D).
zane is still a nindroid in this au, except he’s called a ‘droid-racer’. he was created by doctor julien and wu as an experiment and they eventually got pretty attached to him emotionally.
lloyd and brad met early on in this au,, they met in their old boarding school, and continued to keep in touch after they graduated (YES lloyd graduates darkley’s in this au! I think that’d be funny af).
nya and kai grew up in a very racing-centred environment because their parents were racers themselves! they learned to drive before they turned of legal age, but only got into street racing when they were 19-21.
I made nya and kai the co-leaders because this is primarily a kai-centric au (if you couldn’t tell), and I think it’d be interesting to see how they would work together to manage a team.
jay grows up with his birth parents in this au! I couldn’t leave ed and edna though so they can be like his aunt and uncle or something. because cliff gordon is a famous actor, his family is very well off, but still pretty close. I just thought it’d be funny if he was a nervous wreck when he first joined the team cuz he doesn’t want his parents to find out their baby boy is in danger.
morro and lloyd are COUSINS!! of course they are! morro can have some angsty beef with his adoptive father wu for PLOT REASONS!! he ran away from home and met harumi on the streets, who had also run away from home. he invited her to join him as he searched for his uncle garmadon, and they both joined the garamdon family :)

Just some lines changed in the Korean dub of Ninjago
(Only for lines I can remember I was bored lol)
Season 1 Episode 5: Can of Worms
(When Kai finds Wu's lesson book from Lloyd and takes it)
Original
Lloyd: It was the perfect plan, until you had to show up and mess everything up-
Korean dub
Lloyd: I was having fun! That's my uncle's, so give it back to me!
Note: When the door is closed, Lloyd's voice doesn't get muffled. You can still hear him saying his words
Season 1 Episode 6: The Snake King
(When Kai drops off Lloyd at the arcade and leaves)
Original
Kai: Sorry, shorty!
Korean dub
Kai: I'm busy. Bye!
Note: I made the translation like this, but actually, instead of "I", Kai calls himself Hyung(형), a word for big brother in Korean. Even when not siblings, this can be used for boys older than boys. Sometimes in Korea, we would replace "I" with other words depending occasions. This is that case
Season 1 Episode 7: Tick Tock
(When Wu explains his past, and Jay is surprised Wu and Garmadon were friends when they were little. Then Jay explains about Lord Garmadon)
Original
Jay: The King of Cruelty, the Doer of Destruction, the Captain of Chaos...and you two were friends?
Korean dub
Jay: He has a face like a demon, his hobby is destroying, and his speciality is taunting ninjas! But you two were...in a good relationship?
Note: Personally, I find the descriptions in the Korean dub fun
Season 3 Episode 3, Blackout
(When Kai encounters Tech Wu)
Original
Kai: Sensei? What have they done to you?
Korean dub
Kai: Sensei? What happened to your face?
Note: So in the original, Kai realizes what happened to Wu. But in the Korean dub, it sounds like Kai is still processing to understand what happened to Wu
(When Cole and Jay goes to attack Tech Wu)
Original
Cole: More like Tech Wu!
Jay: Bad Sensei, bad!
Korean dub
Cole: Yeah, it seems like that!
Jay: Yeah, he's not Sensei! Attack!
Note: By the way, in Korea, Tech Wu is "Evil Wu". Kind of something more direct so the children audience can understand better? Also it's fun to find how Jay in the original said "Bad Sensei, bad!"
Season 3 Episode 6, Codename: Arcturus
(When the Lloyd gives the Golden Power to the ninja, and they show off their powers)
Original
Jay: Anyone shocked to see me do this? Huh?
Cole: No dirt of my shoulder!
Zane: Chill out!
Korean dub
Jay: Hey, you guys can't do this? Huh?
Cole: Oh say that after seeing me!
Zane: Look at me, too!
Note: The puns related to the elements weren't kept in the Korean dub. It might able to make those element related puns in Korean, but I think the process would be hard
(When the ninja goes to space and the others find out. Garmadon being angry to Wu)
Original
Garmadon: You wanted them to take risks, to see how far they'd go. Is this what you had in mind? How far? How far must they go?
Korean dub
Garmadon: I told you the ninja shouldn't be left doing what they want. You said to have trust in the ninja, and now this happened! What are you going to do now? The ninja went to space!
Note: Actually in this part, Garmadon called the ninja as "the kids", not as "the ninja". Either can be interpreted as the ninja are kids Garmadon has responsibility, or the ninja are little kids who are still immature in Garmadon's eyes
Season 4 Episode 2: Only one can remain
(When Master Chen appears and he greets the elemental masters)
Original
Chen: Now, everyone can all DI-RECT your attention to me!
Korean dub
Chen: Now, say goodbye to the world! A new world will be unfold!
Note: Considering the original was using a pun by using the syllable(which di from direct sounds like die), it was hard to use the same pun in Korean. Therefore the line was changed
(When the Kabuki people appear to lead the elemental masters to their rooms)
Original
Jay: Ugh, just what this place needs. Creepy Clowns!
Garmadon: Not clowns, Kabuki. Chen's jesters.
Korean dub
Jay: Ugh, who are those people? With faces white as heck!
Garmadon: They are dressed up as Kabuki. Actors for traditional Japanese drama.
Note: I believe the reason why Garmadon in the explained what Kabuki is because the children audience won't know what Kabuki is. But...isn't Ninjago different from our world? Even if there are many Japanese features, are they called as 'Japanese'? Or another word?
Season 4 Episode 7: The Forgotten Element
(When Nya reunites with Zane)
Original
Nya: Zane! You're back!
Zane: What? What is on my back?
Korean dub
Nya: Zane! You've changed a lot!
Zane: What? You're not saying I'm old, right?
Note: Since the original made a pun using "back", it was impossible to keep this pun in the Korean, due to language difference. Therefore it was changed to what is seen. Also, Nya's line can somewhat be seen as greeting someone who you haven't seen for a long time. In this context "you've changed a lot" can be seen as "you've grown a lot". I guess that's why Zane said about being old

North Wind | Lloyd x OC
Chapter 1: Harbinger
3.8k words
Summary: Mari is assigned a new mission. Lloyd meets someone with a familiar face.
Hey all!
Just a message: Ninjago in this story is a blend of the slow and the movie. Everything from seasons 1-12 has happened in this world, but no one knows the identities of the Ninja, except for their allies (Skylor, Dareth, etc). Because of that, everyone avoids Lloyd and his friends like the plague (that's the only similarity to the movie, actually).
As a side note, I have only watched up to season 12 (hence only those events have happened). I don't have a beta, so please excuse any typos/grammatical errors.
Hope you all enjoy!
—————————
“Do you understand what I’m asking, Mari?” The man before me spoke in a cold tone, his eyes set in a hard stare, one I was familiar with. He wasn't asking, not really.
A shiver rushed down my spine, but I was careful not to let any emotion show on my face.
I nodded, my face blank as I stared at the wall behind him. “Yes, Uncle. I understand. You won’t be disappointed.” He seemed pleased by that answer, dark eyes relaxing as he drummed his fingers against the hard, knotted wood of his desk.
“You know I expect only the best from you, my dear,” he said, his face full of warmth akin to a proud father. I fought not to scoff. It was almost scary how quick he could go from cold and unfeeling to warm and amiable. Clasping his hands in front of him, he tilted his head in dismissal.
A quick bow and I turned to silently leave the room. The sound of my footsteps was too loud, filling up the empty corridor I passed through. Once outside the building and away from any prying eyes, I let out a sigh of relief, allowing myself to breathe. My back pushed into the hard stone wall behind me, my head tilting up to look at the sky. It would be dark soon.
Meeting with my uncle was never pleasant. This time was different, though.
The same hard look, the same thinly veiled threat in his voice, but the mission. It would be the start of my freedom—at least for a while. Before I figured out how to disappear. He wanted me to move to the center of Ninjago City, assume an identity as a normal teenager, and track down the Green Ninja and his team.
Oh, and find out their identities, of course.
Pushing myself off the wall, I started making my way to my apartment, going down a new path today, as I did everytime my uncle summoned me to his criminal guild. My hood was pulled tight over my head, black hair tied in a bun as I walked down the streets inconspicuously. The outskirts of Ninjago were never the safest, but with daylight fading away, my steps sped up a little, hurrying to get home.
A few minutes later, I unlocked the door with my keys, quickly checking the layout before shutting the door and locking it. Even with an uncle who practically ran all the crime around here, in this part of town, you could never be too careful.
Thankfully, the inside of the apartment offered a cool respite from the heat outside. I flipped the kitchen light on and swung the fridge door open. My eyes glanced over the contents, settling on leftover pasta with a shrug. I entered it into the microwave, letting it heat up for a few minutes before taking it out.
Behind me, a bedroom door opened. Head whipping toward the sound, my heart plummeted into my stomach for a second, until I realized it was just my brother. My body tensed before I huffed out a sigh, giving him an exasperated look. “Oh my— Hideo, don’t scare me like that!” I chastised, before remembering something. “Shouldn’t you be at your friend’s house right now?”
He gives me a hesitant glance before rubbing his neck and looking down. “Yeah, but…” he drifted off. Looking back at me, his eyes narrowed with concern. “I heard Uncle called you in.” Uneasiness filled my limbs as I shifted my gaze away. I never liked discussing what I did for my uncle. Hideo was never involved, so it felt wrong to talk about the details with him, like it would endanger him even more. Schooling my expression, I turned back to him. “He did. It wasn’t…” I drifted off, trying to find the word, “… bad. He just gave me a mission.” I shrugged my shoulders, trying to play off the nervous tension in my body.
His eyes narrowed further at that. “What kind?” he asked. I was hesitant to tell him. My uncle had specified that this mission in particular was to remain absolutely confidential. Even without the warning, I hadn’t wanted to let Hideo know about my plan to escape until a couple days before I’d leave, thinking it best to plan everything out first before telling him.
“It’s… not important,” I hedged. Making my way to sit down at the table, I freed my hair from my ponytail, brushing a few stray strands of hair away from my face as I blew on the pasta. “Can we talk about it later?” I rested my arms on the table, propping my chin on a hand. “I’m tired.”
Hideo’s gaze seemed to soften at that, and he rubbed his eyes before replying, “Alright. I’m going to sleep. Good night.” Turning around to his bedroom door, he tossed a wave over his shoulder at me.
“Good night,” I mumbled back, stabbing my fork into the spaghetti. Thinking about the situation made me lose my appetite, but I shoveled in a few forkfuls anyway. Exhaustion suddenly washed over me. I really was tired—tired of having to obey my uncle and follow his orders, tired of fearing he’d snap one day and stop taking care of us, tired of always searching for a way to escape his control.
Finishing off the plate, I scrubbed it clean at the sink and made my way into my bedroom, wooden planks creaking under my steps. I closed the door softly and stripped off the layers of dark clothing, dressing into cool pajamas and flopping onto my bed.
For some reason, it felt like this chance at an escape felt too much like that—a chance. My eyes shut, fatigue weighing down on me. That didn’t matter, though. If there was any possibility it would work, I would take that risk. We’d spent too long under my uncle’s thumb, having to miss out on our childhoods to please him.
A familiar ache of loneliness and grief went through my heart. I missed my parents. They hadn’t always known how to best handle every situation, but they cared about us. Their sudden deaths hadn’t seemed real at the time, 11 year-old me could barely process it. Ever since then, I became closed off, only sharing any sort of thoughts or feelings with Hideo, the only one who understood.
That sent my lips into a frown. Lately we weren’t close at all, too busy with our own lives to spend time together. The various missions my uncle had sent me on for the last 3 years hadn’t helped either. I hoped that us finally leaving and starting normal lives as teenagers would help us mend our relationship.
The muffled sounds of cars driving by and people going about their nightly business soothed my muscles into relaxing. It wasn’t long before I drifted off into sleep.
———————————
The next morning, I heaved myself out of bed, groggily rubbing at my eyes. Hideo was in the entrance, getting his shoes on and shrugging on a jacket. He glanced at me while he tied his laces. “Hey,” he greeted with a nod.
Head bobbing back, I replied, “Morning.” My eyes swept over the kitchen, noting that he made eggs and left some in the pan for me. “Going to work?” I asked, making my way to a cabinet and grabbing a plate. As I put some bread in the toaster and opened the fridge, I realized that he still hadn’t answered. My head swiveled to look at him. “Hideo?”
He startled from where he was looking at his phone, fingers fumbling as he frantically stuffed it in his pocket. “Uh— yeah, I am.” The action drew my attention. I narrowed my eyes, but didn't say anything. It’s probably nothing.
“Alright,” I say, turning back to the fridge. “Have a good day.”
Humming in response, he opens the door and swings his bag over a shoulder. “See you later, Mar,” he says with a smile. The door shuts, the knob turning as Hideo makes sure it’s locked from the outside. The sound of his muffled footsteps faded as he got farther down the hall.
A yawn left my mouth, my eyes watering as I tiredly rubbed a hand down my face. I made breakfast quietly, scarfing down the food and washing my plate as my thoughts turned to the mission. My uncle had given me a week to get everything prepared and packed to move to Ninjago City. The plan was to enroll in a local high school—to keep up appearances as a teenager at age 17—and follow the ninja after whatever rescues they did in a day, unmasking their identities and reporting back to my uncle.
According to him, it was the perfect plan, because no one would suspect a teenage girl to be a criminal trying to spy on the city’s adored ninja. And if I was caught being too sneaky, I could just say that I was a fan and wanted to get close to them.
Sure, it was sort of weird—having to stalk them, and pretend it was because of an obsession—but my uncle never cared about how the jobs he sent me on would affect me. As long as I gave him satisfactory results, he was pleased.
Face set into a frown, I grabbed a duffel bag from my room, writing a list of all the supplies I’d need when I arrived in Ninjago City. While doing so, I got dressed, thinking about how I could broach the subject of leaving to Hideo. I knew he had friends here, and was happy enough, but I wanted more for us.
My phone buzzed where it lay on the mattress. A text from Hideo. After reading it, I quickly thumbed a reply.
Hideo (his excellency):
Do you want me to bring food home for dinner
Me:
Yeah, sure
You just started your shift though?
Hideo (his excellency):
I’m about to clock in, just checking first
Me:
Oh, okay. See you then
Once I sent the text, I pulled on a jacket and put on a cap, swinging the duffel over my shoulder and heading out the door to a store where I could get what I needed. I managed to catch a bus right as it pulled up to the stop, making sure my hat was snug on my head, tilted down to obscure my eyes. Around these parts, it wasn’t easy staying out of sight and being unrecognizable when your face was known by everyone as the crime lord’s niece.
It reminded me of my friend Skylor, who I had met years ago during a visit in Ninjago City, before I had started my secret career of crime. She had wit, and a sharp humor that made us fast friends, even with the rumors and whispers about her father. We still kept in touch, but we were both pretty busy most of the time. She didn’t know how similar my present was to her past. Last I heard, she was running a pretty successful noodle business.
Maybe I could ask her for a job when I got there.
Getting off the bus, I steered myself into a general store, roaming down the aisles and putting them in a shopping basket. After grabbing everything I needed, I headed to the checkout, paying for the items and stuffing them into the duffel.
The lady at the counter gave me a suspicious stare, and I tried not to pay attention to the way her lip curled when she seemed to realize who I was. Hurrying out the door, I walked to the bus stop, a frown on my lips as I fiddled with the strap of my cap.
This was another reason I desperately wanted to leave this forsaken town. My uncle’s infamous reputation only stained mine and Hideo’s, making it difficult to land respectable jobs—especially since there was speculation about who his little soldier was, who the public knew as “Tempest.”
Letting out a huff, I glanced at where a bus approached. It was less crowded than earlier, when all the morning commuters were on their way to work.
A group of teenagers in the back caught my attention. There were four of them, dressed casually, albeit colorfully—one in red, another in blue, one in black, and the other in white. They were talking animatedly, their smiles coming easy as they joked around with each other.
I realized I was staring at them when one guy—the one in red—looked my way, raising a scarred brow quizzically.
Averting my gaze, my lips set into a frown. To say I was a little envious of their friendship wouldn’t be wrong. Me and Hideo had friends before and after our parents’ death, but in the past three years I had been acting as my uncle’s lackey, we had drifted apart from our circles, the fear surrounding us as our uncle took us in chasing them away.
A pang of sadness went through my chest, but I ignored it, instead focusing on the streets the bus passed.
The four boys got up, their voices low as they chatted amongst themselves while getting off the bus. “I still don’t get why Lloyd made us come here,” the blue one said, crossing his arms. “Making us do all the work.” The name he mentioned made my gaze flicker to them.
His friend in black smacked his arm as the one in white responded. “The commissioner brought the issue up so that we could help, Jay.”
The guy wearing black spoke up next. “And he’s coming later today, so chill.”
What the one in white said sent my face into a confused frown, curiosity peaked. The commissioner? What issue? Who are these people?
The guy wearing red shushed them, sending them a narrow glare. “Guys, be quiet,” he glanced around. “Someone could be listening.” With that, we connected eyes, his filling with suspicion as mine frantically darted away.
The doors closed, their conversation fading away as the bus rode away.
I tsked, reprimanding myself for listening in. Those people clearly had some sort of business here. And it wasn’t any of my business. I had too much going on to be worried about the affairs of some random teenagers.
Though, something about them had seemed familiar. Not as if I had met them before, but something about their voices and what they were wearing made me think.
Shaking my head to clear my head, I got off at a stop near the apartment, walking the rest of the way and stepping inside the building. The apartment was quiet when I entered, everything still and just how I had left it.
I rolled my shoulders, shaking off the unease that always seemed to permeate the air around me. Setting down the duffel, I got started on packing a bag in my bedroom, going through the motions of carefully selecting some weapons and tools and placing them into a secret compartment on my luggage. I’d be taking a bus into the city, so I didn’t need to worry about any security searching bags.
There were still a few hours until Hideo would come home with dinner, so I decided to pay a visit to the library, and get some lunch after. It’d be helpful to read up on any information about Ninjago City, and the ninja too.
———————————
One thing I liked about this place was that there weren’t usually a lot of people here. In part because it was a bit tucked away, but probably also because not many people went to libraries anymore, what with technology being more innovative these days.
I didn’t mind it, though. It helped me avoid the public eye better. Heading to the history section, I pulled a few books on Ninjago City’s history off the shelves, setting them on an unoccupied table. On a nearby stand, there were a few magazines and articles about the ninja and what was known about them.
Swiping a few articles, I sat down, starting my search with the journals about the ninja. There wasn’t much substantial information about where or who they were, only the occasional theory about some celebrity being connected to them.
After scouring over other articles about them and finding nothing of use, I gave up on that part of my search. Truthfully, I wasn’t putting much effort into finding out their identities, learning just enough to quell any doubts my uncle could have.
I got up to put those articles back on the rack, choosing one of the history books to read next. As I cracked open one about Ninjago’s early history, a few voices came within earshot. They sounded familiar.
Looking up, my jaw dropped at who I saw. “You’ve got to be kidding me,” I murmured under my breath, brows furrowing.
Two of the teenagers from before. A tall, buff guy in a black tank and sweats, and a lean, wiry guy wearing a cozy-looking white sweater. What were the chances? Almost no one came here, and I’ve never seen them around before. They must have just gotten here today. That aligned with what I heard from their conversation earlier on the bus.
But then someone else came in, one I didn’t recognize from before. Blonde, wearing a green sweater and some faded jeans. He caught up to them, saying something that made them laugh. This must be the “Lloyd” they mentioned. He was kind of cute, if I was being honest.
Shaking my head in slight bewilderment at that thought, I let out a sigh. Hopefully they wouldn’t see me and come over. It wouldn’t be good to get acquainted with them—they’d eventually learn about who I was and never talk to me again, anyway.
But it seemed that fate had other plans, because the one wearing white spotted me. He turned to his friends and said something, and after a bit of conferring, they made their way over to me.
I stifled a groan as they approached, instead putting on a friendly smile.
“Hello, there. We are new to town and are wondering if you could help us find Ikarashi—” His words were cut off by his friend jabbing him with his elbow. “Cole, what— Did I say something displeasing?” he asked.
“You just asked about a criminal, Zane! We’re trying to be low-profile—”
I didn’t pay attention to the rest of what they were saying, sitting there in frozen silence, paralyzed when they said his name. Ikarashi, my uncle. They were trying to find him.
Either they were somehow with the police, or they were some naive kids who wanted a chance at being thugs. Neither option was something I wanted to be involved with. My breaths came in fast as I wondered how I could leave this situation.
“Hey, are you alright?” The blonde boy spoke, his green eyes filling with worry after he shot a pointed look at his friends. They seemed to get whatever message he sent, quieting down.
Quickly collecting myself, I nodded, clearing my throat to dislodge the building tightness. “Ah, yeah, I’m okay,” I replied, a little too shakily. “It’s just— I’m not used to people starting conversations about criminals.”
Behind him, the guy in the black tank gave his friend a look that seemed to say ‘I told you so.’ The boy in green grimaced. “Sorry about that,” he apologized. “We’re just… really into criminology.” His explanation was a little hesitant, but I didn’t call it out. He reached out his hand to me, offering a gentle smile. “I’m Lloyd, by the way.”
Staring at his hand for longer than what was probably acceptable, I eventually took it, shaking it slowly, “Mari.” He nodded with a smile, pulling his hand back to gesture to his friends. “These are my friends. Cole,” he gestured to the one wearing black, “and Zane.” The one in white.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mari. I apologize for my question earlier,” Zane said, frowning.
I shook my head, waving a hand in dismissal. “No, it’s fine, I was just surprised,” I smiled reassuringly. I looked back up at them. “So, did you need help with anything besides uh… finding criminals?” My tone was slightly perplexed, brows knitting together.
The one in black—Cole, I knew their names now—coughed, eyes darting uncomfortably. “You know what, could you tell us about any good pastry stores around here?” he asked, rubbing his arm. Lloyd snickered as Zane sent him an amused glance.
I blinked. “Oh, uhm. Yeah, there’s a pretty good one around 4 blocks,” I paused to orient myself, pointing in one direction, “that way.”
Cole nodded with a hand on his chin. “Okay, great, thanks. We’ll be getting going then,” he started to say, leading his friends away from me with a polite grin. Zane was chuckling now, saying something under his breath that made Cole grimace.
Their antics made me laugh softly, reminiscing about how I used to be with my friends.
That caught Lloyd’s attention. He turned back to me, smiling. “Sorry again about them. They can be a little… weird at times, but they’re great people,” he chuckled. His green eyes were soft as he spoke, the affection he held for them clear.
Giving him a smile in return, I shook my head, saying, “It’s all good. I’ve had my fair share of weird.”
Lloyd grins at that, placing his hands in his pockets. “Well, I better go chase them down. It was nice meeting you, Mari. Hopefully I’ll see you around!” He starts moving away, giving a friendly wave as I wave back.
Watching them leave the library, I let out an amused huff. That wasn’t so bad. Maybe things were finally turning up now that life was offering an opportunity to start fresh. Sure, I wasn’t in Ninjago City yet, but maybe I could make friends when I started school.
I didn’t know if Lloyd and his friends were staying here for long, but from what I heard on the bus, it seemed like once their job was done, they’d leave. But where to? Did they live in Ninjago City? If they did, maybe I could be friends with them once I got there.
But what if they find out who I am? What I do? Would they still want to be friends with me then?
Rubbing a hand down my face, I sigh. “Don’t get ahead of yourself, Mar,” I mutter. “You don’t even know if they want to be your friends.” My eyes fall to the stack of books still piled on the table. I was getting hungry, and I couldn’t muster the energy to pore over them just to find out the smallest information that could help me with the mission. I’ll just bring them home.
Luckily, I was on good terms with the librarian. A sweet old woman, she tells me she doesn’t believe in rumors, that a nice girl like me couldn’t be a vicious criminal. It always sends a pang through my heart.
Outside the library, a gentle breeze carried cool air that kissed my skin. With the soft lulls of wind, dark clouds formed in the sky. A storm was brewing.

A/N: And that's chapter one! This is my first published fic, so constructive feedback is appreciated!
Chapter releases might be a bit sporadic--I'm not sure how to go about pacing, but I'll try my best to upload as often I can!

heard your req about a swap au loud and clear >:3 maybe it was a mistake to give the au fiend More AUs to play with but i totally haven't been thinking about this nonstop recently (im lying. ive been thinking about this nonstop)
more details about the swap au under the cut if anyone's curious :0
in case it wasn't clear from the image, the swaps are as follows
kai - skylor
jay - unagami
cole - morro
zane - cryptor
lloyd - harumi
nya - kalmaar
with bonus swaps of
wu - garmadon
pixal - mr e / echo (still haven't decided if i want mr e to be echo here)
since everything's all swapped around, it means that harumi is the daughter of wu (hehe haWUmi), and wu is the lord of darkness and master of destruction. misako stays where she is bc i couldn't think of anyone to swap her with gfkjdhfgkjh (and btw she has glasses bc i hc her to be albino and albino ppl tend to have poor vision, so i thought it'd be cute :) since i used to hc lloyd with glasses at some point i thought it would fit)
skylor's mom died recently, and she's been trying not to think about it by drowning herself in work at the noodle shop, where her dad chen is trying to get her to lighten up and not work so hard. she gets approached by garmadon to train with her mother's fire and she accepts. chen is a wonderful dad and i LOVE HIM
unagami (prefers gami) is a Gamer™️ and has two whole dads (milton dyer and okino). despite being tiny, permanently babyfaced, and a Gamer, he talks very politely and uses a lot of big words. okino raised him like that :) scott is the previous elem of lightning but i haven't decided where he is in the story yet, but i want him to be gami's uncle. also gami is a vtuber
morro was found as a kid rooting through garmadons trash, so ofc garm went "hm. i want this rat as my child" and adopts them dkjfghdfjh they got their earth power from their parent, who is still unknown to everyone. they're still just as emo bc they have an excuse to wear black at all times jdkfghkjdfg (morro also gets kai's jealousy arc and realization that the green ninja is to be protected, so they end up taking kai's role as the green ninja's older sibling, in this case rumi)
cryptor was built by cyrus borg in this au, but still deep in the forest where no one could find them. he was originally built to assist borg with household things but he started to see cryptor as his son as his ai developed. borg got kidnapped at some point, so cryptor is trying to find him. unknown if cry knows about being a nindroid at first or not, but he's prone to short circuiting due to how snappy he gets.
and kalmaar (sometimes called kali or mar depending on their mood) is the water ninja now! bc i thought it'd be absolutely hilarious to put this purple bitch boy in a hero's role dfkjghkjdhfg he got exiled from merlopia after his father and (adopted) brother disagreed with his human-loving notions, and decided that weakness wasn't tolerated. and because of Magic i guess, kalmaar is able to shift from his squid form to a more lego head-esque form (aka i did not want to draw a squid head. good lird). also i made him genderfluid bc i can
any more questions are welcome :) my ask box is open!

I love your VT au so much! Misako is one of my favourite characters so whenever someone gives her an actually good back story it makes my heart mushy /pos
I have a few like random ideas/thoughts, feel free to ignore them though:
does darkley's exist in this universe? and since it later became Wu's academy, would it become Garmadon's academy?
does everyone in ninjago find out Wu was bad this whole time and realise Garmadon is a good guy and like support him or is everyone terrified of him or something?
does lloyd like the ninja? considering they're like celebrities in this would he think they're super cool or would he think they're bad, either disliking them because he has different interests or would he be told they're working for someone bad?
does Lloyd still like comic books? also, does he introduce the gang to his favourite comics and stuff? I can just imagine a RGB sibling interaction like this:
L: so, I realise you two had literally no childhood. So I, your amazing younger brother, have come bearing gifts
K: no offence but we're a bit too old for kid stuff
N: Yeah, we've been ninja basically our whole lives. we don't really need this stuff. Thanks though
L: *reveals a pile of comic books, old kid show DVDs, action figures and plushies*
Kai and Nya proceed to spend the next week reading all the comics, watching all the shows and playing with the toys. Lloyd takes over their chores while they both heal their inner child
okay thats all! I love this AU, and all your posts are super cool! have a good day 🫶
Thank you!!! I'm glad you like it so much!!
As for your questions:
Darkleys I think will still exist, but instead of being a school where kids are taught to be evil, I think I'm gonna make it a boarding school for Ninjago's royalty/upper class. So a different type of evil school. Misako and Clouse both went when they were younger.
After his plans with the Great Devourer go awry, his Nindroid army is shut down, and the Emperor himself calls for an audience with Wu to yell at him for not catching Garmadon yet, Wu kinda snaps. He forges the Mega Weapon after holding off for a few weeks after finally getting all four Golden Weapons, and uses it to usurp the throne and take complete control of the city.
So by the time Wu is defeated, everyone knows that he was the true bad guy. And the cities thoughts on Garmadon after everything is said and done are very mixed.
Overall most of the city regard him as a hero, since he not only killed the GD with his bare hands but also evaporated an arm and almost died to use the Mega Weapon to stop Wu.
But there's a fair amount of superstition regarding Oni in Ninjago, most of it negative.
So there's also a fair amount of people who feel he should be monitored at the very least, locked up or even executed to ensure he can't do to the city what he did to the Great Devourer if he gets annoyed.
And there's a small-ish group who believe that he's the Green Ninja, and that him defeating Wu was the Prophecy being fulfilled. They are kind of a semi-rabid fan club for him.
At first Lloyd thinks the Ninja are awesome. He and Harumi (they're childhood friends and next door neighbors before the Great Devourer attack) liked to play games where they were the Ninja, and were even planning on dressing up as the Green Ninja (Harumi) and Lord Garmadon (Lloyd) for Day of the Departed.
Then the Great Devourer attacks New Ninjago City.
And Lloyd's Dad, who he thought was dead his whole life, comes back.
And he's stinking Lord Garmadon.
And soon the Ninja, the cool, real-life superheroes he and his best friend would pretend to be, are hunting him down, their minds magically manipulated by their teacher, Lloyd's own Uncle.
Right after Wu's defeat, Lloyd is still pretty spooked by the Ninja, but after a few months where everyone is recovering and then all the Tournament stuff, Lloyd warms up to the Ninja and they start to grow fond of him as well.
Lloyd still loves comic books, and is appalled when he finds out that Kai wasn't allowed to play any video games or read any comics or do anything actually fun, and he's borderline distressed when he first meets Nya and she had never heard of Starfarer in her life.
He sort of takes it upon himself as the one with the most normal childhood to be the 'authority' on how to be a normal kid and do normal kid things like MarioKart, eating junk food, pranking people, teenage rebellion (sure he's like 11, but he's watched a lot of teens on tv, and that counts, right?), and shapeshifting.
Lloyd actually did have the most normal childhood out of literally every member of the main cast up until the plot happens. It wasn't super normal, but it's still more normal than what anyone, teen or adult, went through.

Alright! Like evryone here, I have *surprise* thoughts about ep 13 & 14!
I’ll start by saying that I ADORE the interactions between Lloyd and Harumi. SUE ME!
Yes, they’re enemies at this point. But the dialogue Harumi has is just too damn funny Goddammit. I love her being all snarky and sarcastic like this. GIMME MORE!
I also like the paralells of Harumi basically making Lloyd believe the ninja are dead to turn him to their side, nice callback. She knows it’ll get him angry like nothing else, so why not do it again?
On a more negative side though...
Yeah. With her glowing eyes we can basically confirm that she is, to some extent, mindcontrolled. And I’m pretty sure most people would agree that that is a very lazy way out. (Sorry guys.)
Personally I think it would have been better (and thought they were going to) if Harumi did the exact same thing as in season 8, but the other way around. You know, pretending to be with the Crystal King only for it to turn out she was on the ninja’s side the entire time (and even the ninja didn’t know). Because YES I WANT HER REDEEMED but it would also;
1. Line up with her death and sacrifice in s9
2. Show her use her previously negative strenghths to an advantage
3. Allow her to joing the CK to save her life while still improving
4. Allow the interactions they’re having
5. Be an awesome paralell to fool everyone again and for them to realise she’s on the good side
6. BE A GODDAMN POWERMOVE OKAY
Technically they could still take this route, just-
It makes very little sense to me why she’d be this upset at Lloyd letting her die. At the moment in s9 she seemed almost accepting of death at that point. She also knew he was a long end away and it wasn’t realistic, because she isn’t stupid. Delusional undoubtedly, but not stupid.
With the Prime Empire avatar I always imagined that they were talking about her life in the palace, which is probably at least half if not most of her trauma. A traumatic event is one thing, but you need to understand that the envoirement you’re placed in afterwards makes a great difference.
After Pythor Lloyd was taken in by his uncle and people who he’d end up calling brothers (and sister). Harumi was given money and told to ‘sit still and look pretty’, because they thought that would solve her trauma.
One of them was a healthy enviorment, the other definitely wasn’t.
I still love crystallized and will keep loving the episodes because I can only get really cynical of a show a year or something later. I’m glad that they’re probably still gonna redeem her, even if it is with mindcontrol. I just-
I expected maybe- just maybe- a little more.
still loved it though!

The wedding was small. That was for Samuel's comfort, because had he had things his way, he and Silas would have gone to the court house, gotten their marriage certificate, and called their friends without ever holding any sort of event for people to attend. Silas said that at the very least, they had to have cake for their friends and family to celebrate the long-awaited milestone, and he'd conceded. Instead of a proper reception, they'd set up folding chairs around the kitchen and living room, called their closest friends and family members and picked up a cake. Sam sulked around the night of the calls, even with Silas there, because they'd invited four people jointly and seven other people individually, and he could only expect it to go poorly. It took another week for the celebration to roll around.
It wasn't formal. Everyone was asked to just be decent, dress casually but not sloppily. Their friends all came in similar button-ups; Simon in orange, Cassiel in blue, Aaryn in yellow, and Lloyd in pink, all smiles, all nice. Of Silas's seven guests, six showed. His parents, his sister, his aunt and uncle, and their daughter, all dressed formally. It was his brother that didn't show and he'd informed Silas at time that he couldn't make it. Everyone, again, was happy.
Sam had called seven people. His mother and father, his older brother, his father's sister, her son and daughter, and his childhood best friend. Of them, his brother, Alec, and his cousin, Reagan, had answered. Alec refused to come on religious accounts and vehemently expressed his disapproval. Reagan hung up when he mentioned his fiance to her.
Their friends sat on the side of the chairs dedicated to his family, to make it easier. It wasn't a joyous occasion, as happy as everyone around him looked about it. Silas's family was kind, as much as they'd always been. They congratulated him and his husband, they'd called him son and brother and nephew, and it made him feel a little less alone. Even so, he felt detached from it all.
And when he was left alone with Silas and Simon and Cass, he didn't force the smile.
He didn't need to. Silas rubbed his shoulder and laughed at the jokes that made him roll his eyes and he wondered for a moment, why had it mattered? Simon leaned forward in his seat the way he did when anything that resulted in a stain on his carpet was about to happen. He'd known that they wouldn't come and wouldn't call, he knew his family didn't intend to be there at his wedding, so he was lost on why this all felt so dreadfully important to him.
Then and there, he decided, it didn't. It wouldn't ever matter again. Simon was choking on his drink at something Cass said, Silas was chuckling, and he had a can of Coke meant to be shared with a family. So, he offered it around only for Cass to ask what this was about.
"It ain't like you to be so sweet as to share, Sammie," he'd said.
"Yeah, well, it's not like you to refuse a free drink. Hurry up, prick, pass it around."
"He's right, Sam," Simon had said when he took the can. "You've been kind of off. Are you alright?"
"I'm fine. I just don't like weddings," he muttered when Silas took the can.
"Hey babe, you don't need to worry about it. It went great . You did great"
"I guess it's not about that." Sam paused. His friends were all looking at him, waiting to find out what, exactly, about his perfect wedding had been wrong. Despite his attempt to break back into the conversation and out of his own head, suddenly, they all felt very far away again. He focused Silas's hand on his shoulder even from behind the proverbial glass and took a deep breath.

A Future Family Au
I need some fluff and I want to talk about it, so have all this. Note: This includes Lavashipping & Jay. Pixane exists too but I have yet to decide to give them a kid or not. Lloyd just lives the single life.
Takes place years later. The Ninja in their late 20s and starting their 30s.
Jay & Nya end up having twins (Yes, Jay did faint when they learned it was twins.)
Nya and Jay struggled coming up with their names and ended up settling on two gender neutral names: Raine & Skye. (Who end up being she/they and they/them nonbinary kiddos anyway) also mainly because I couldn't really decide myself, but nonbinary good.
Wu is still hanging around, just not as strong as he used to be, but he's super happy to witness their birth and hold them. Good ol' Grandpa.
They still have their Ninja duties so they have to work around Nya, and/or Jay, not being around a lot of the time while Nya was pregnant and while they take care of their kids.
If Nya and Jay are absolutely required, one of the others stay behind at times to babysit. Of course though if all of them are needed they call Skylor or somebody as well.
Kai & Lloyd are the best kind of Uncles.
Raine & Skye does make Cole highkey reminiscence that feeling of being a "parent".
Cole & Kai have a talk about finding a way to get their own kid.
One day while out in the city during the Winter, Kai is running an errand and a shopkeeper recognizes him, asking for help to scare off this "stray animal" he's been hearing in the alley.
Kai reluctantly agrees, thinking he'll actually bring the animal to the shelter or something, only to find a little boy, not older than 6.
The boy quickly hides from Kai, who notices the kid trembling from the cold and coughing, showing signs he's sick.
Kai gently coaxes the kid out, and when he finally comes out, Kai hugs him and the boy sinks into the warmth radiating off of Kai.
The boy's name is Milo.
Kai goes home with Milo basically like: "Hey Cole?? Remember when we talked about getting a kid?"
Milo is a very anxious and timid kid so he takes a bit to get used to everyone, basically latching onto Kai all the time.
They all learn Milo is very prone to getting sick a lot, and that led to his parents abandoning him.
Kai basically has to be held back from murdering his parents as they manage to track them down and go through a bunch of legal work to officially adopt Milo.
News of the Ninja fighting for custody does spread which ends leading to a baby being dropped at the Monestary doors one day.
It's a little girl and they're unable to find her parents. While figuring out what to do, they notice Milo bonding with the baby, leading to Kai & Cole to adopt her as well.
While figuring out a name, Kai ends up suggesting that they name her after Cole's Mom, Lilly. Makes Cole want to marry Kai all over again-
Milo is the oldest of all the kids. Raine & Skye are 3 years behind from Milo. Lilly is the youngest.
Milo inherits Kai's Fire and it ends up helping him no longer get sick so often. Lilly inherits Earth from Cole just like her Grandma.
It does freak Kai & Cole out a little when they first start showing signs of their powers until they remember how Zane got Ice without being related to the previous Ice Master.
Raine inherits Water. Skye inherits Lightning.
Ultra is still alive and the Monestary has a Dragon Stable for them and other dragons because I said so, so the kids grew up a lot around Dragons.
Lloyd is basically a the kids' cool older brother/Uncle/Cousin? It's complicated but they all love him.
Lloyd is the main caretaker of the Dragons, and he loves to take the kids out on Dragon rides.
Nya & Jay are super supportive as Raine & Skye work out their identities and pronouns.
Kai is a big Mother Hen, wanting to give his kids the best life growing up and everything that he didn't get to experience after his parents disappeared.
Nya has a bit of that problem as well, just not as bad as Kai's.
Zane & Pixal are the main babysitters, aside from Skylor.
Zane & Pix also love to help to take over when they notice either pair of parents getting exhausted so they can get some rest.
Lloyd lost his babysitting privileges when he thought he could balance babysitting with Dragon caring and Green Ninja duties, leading him to collapse in exhaustion at the end of the day. The kids say they had a blast though-
Milo definitely breaks out of his shell when growing up, but still can't help but be more introverted and closed in.
Milo does take a liking to dancing and Cole teaches him. He tends to take his learning to his future battle training and fighting.
Lilly grows up a lot more extroverted and likes to be more optimistic in the group.
One time the family visits Shintaro, the Munce and Geckles of course take a liking to her from being named after her grandmother. Gleck even ends up giving the locket to her after much thought. Lilly treasures it and nearly never takes it off.
Milo and Lilly's relationship are basically just the equivalent to "Excuse me, he asked for no pickles."
Raine & Skye both grow up a perfect mix between Nya & Jay. Both can be pretty loud and talk a lot like their dad, while also being headstrong and stubborn like their mother.
The twins take a liking to inventing just like their parents as well. Taking and using it in their battles as well, and even to do little pranks here and there.
Raine & Skye are basically inseparable.
Here is the basic looks of the kiddos in their possible Young adult years, made in @sangled 's Picrew

Ninjago hcs ✨
‣ The ninja call Zane mom sometimes.
‣ Cole is great with kids, despite not admitting it.
‣ Kai is Lloyd's father figure and brother.
‣ Lloyd Definitely has some slip ups when it comes to Kai. In fact, sometimes, he calls Kai 'dad.' (Not that Kai is bothered or anything. It's just really awkward when Lloyd's ACTUAL dad is around.)
‣ Post-Seabound Kai and Jay go and visit any body of water they can in the mornings, just to greet Nya.
‣ PIXAL, Zane, and Nya are the brains of the group. Of course, Nya is always third-wheeling. (more like was)
‣Pixane became a thing during season 3.
‣ Jay can also use the wind power, (Morro and him are relatives) but since Morro still has his powers as a ghost, Jay can't use them as often.
‣ I know that the creator confirmed Misako and Wu are dating… But I still say it's platonic. (For the love of FSM, I just can't watch Lloyd's mother become his aunt and father become his uncle it's way too much)
‣ Morro calls Sensei! Garmadon Uncle.
‣ Lloyd originally had brown hair, there was just this costume party, and someone switched his blond hair chalk with permanent blond hair dye as a 'prank.'
‣ The overlord just gave up on taking down the ninja, he realized it's no use.
‣ Sensei Garmadon still exists in the departed realm.
‣ Zane has died so many times, it's gotten to the point he's dug his own grave in the ground for the next time he dies.
‣ Without the hair gel, Kai's hair is actually a mullet.
‣ When Garmadon was a shadow stuck in the underworld, he used to go and check in on his son once in a while.

Ninjago headcanons #3
19#
Garmadon was very protective of Wu (I wrote this earlier in point seven), although the venom made him think it was Wu's fault that the snake bit him, he was still protective of his beloved younger brother. One time when Garmadon was under the influence of the venom he was a little nervous and very sarcastic they went to town with "friends" and Wu made him a little angry so Garmadon called him an idiot (Wu didn't care because he knew Garmadon didn't mean it) and one of their friends laughed and agreed with Garmadon and it was his mistake (because venom, venom, but no one will challenge his brother, only he can) so he beat up this guy almost killing him, of course it was reported to their father but FSM, after finding out why Garmadon did it, stated that he did not see a problem with it and praised Garmadon for defending his brother's honor. Everyone was in total shock, especially Wu.
20#
Despite popular belief, it wasn't Garmadon who caused trouble, it was Wu. he sneaked out of the monastery many times and generally did many things he shouldn't have done. Garmadon was angry with Wu many times because of his behavior (and that Garmadon won't let his brother go somewhere alone at night) they were often grounded. Usually, when Wu did something stupid, he got a reprimand from the FSM but also from Garmadon (because of course Wu, due to his stupidity and willingness to adventure, exposed himself to danger, which greatly displeased Garmadon and FSM).
21#
FSM as a child and teenager was a little shit. I'm sure his Oni nature made him love to play pranks (on dragons and Oni), kind of like Lloyd did in season 1.
22#
One time Lloyd dyed his hair brown (to look like his father) and Wu saw him and stared at him for a minute and then his eyes watered and he went to hug Lloyd.
23#
After season 3, Lloyd blamed himself for Zane's death, after all, he was the green ninja, he was supposed to defend the ninjago, he was supposed to defeat the Overlord, if anyone was going to die in this fight, it was him, at least that's what Lloyd told himself. That's why he didn't allow himself to mourn like the rest of the ninja, he decided that he didn't deserve it and started overworking himself, he kept an eye on the ninjago all the time, he helped the police and could be seen as the green ninja all the time.
24#
Oni are intersex. Due to the fact that the Oni began to be a dying breed, at some point they began to change their form so that everyone could continue the species (given that Oni are shapeshifters, it was easy to change their biology). For this reason, Onil do not pay attention to gender, with them you can often choose who exactly they want to be, if they want to be someone else, they can change their body to make it suitable for them, when it came to relationships, you could be with anyone you wanted to be with (well, except your enemy) only important is to perpetuate the genre.
25#
After Season 5, Wu began to become more protective of Lloyd. Wu lost his father, brother and twice Morro, at this point he was left with only Lloyd, his nephew, and due to his mistakes, Lloyd became possessed. He began to remove Lloyd from missions, he began training him to be a master so that he would stop being a ninja. All the time he only asked him for help to get him away from danger, and when he had to let Lloyd go, he never let him go alone so that what happened in the museum wouldn't happen again.
26#
When Lloyd first came to the bounty, none of the ninja liked him, and Lloyd was terribly afraid of others because no one ever liked him, that's why he stuck to Wu all the time, he only trusted him because he was his uncle and he kind of remembered that when he was a kid, Wu was really cool and liked Lloyd, so if Lloyd was going to be with others, Wu had to be there, if he wasn't there Lloyd ran out of that room immediately. For little Lloyd, Wu was such a safe place, he was the only person he knew and his only family.
27#
Wu loved to spoil little Lloyd, every time he came to visit, he would bring Lloyd toys, sweets and other things. Garmadon and Misako were a bit dissatisfied because Lloyd had too many toys, Wu always claimed that his nephew was the most wonderful child and deserved everything he wanted. Wu also loved taking care of Lloyd whenever Garmadon and Misako wanted to go on a date, Wu immediately claimed that he could watch Lloyd, According to him, they can even go for a month because he will be happy to take care of Lloyd. And Lloyd loved being left with his uncle because he always got what he wanted.
(I finally did it, I had a little less creative inspiration than with the last parts, but it was still nice to write it)

my pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand
5 times Zane took care of the team and 1 time the team took care of Zane
•••
1;
"You three are brothers now, and will become stronger together. But for now, you must get acquainted with each other." Sensei's words rang in Zane's head as he made his way into the kitchen of the monastery.
While Jay had been somewhat easy to get introduced to, with his passion for robotics and his tendency to talk, they had become close very quickly.
Cole, however, was a bit harder to speak to; Zane could tell that Cole was a good person, as he was extremely loyal to Sensei even though he had just started his training under him, but he was also closed off to Jay and Zane.
And while he didn't know why, Zane had a feeling it was more so due to some sort of pain in his past, and not him viewing himself and Jay as lower than him.
Which is why Zane was now in the kitchen; he could never quite place exactly why, but he always felt at peace when he was cooking. Something about making something out of nothing was soothing to him.
But before he had decided what exactly he was going to make, that's when Cole came in, a look of longing across his face.
"Hello, Cole," Zane greeted, offering him a smile, but it faded when Cole stiffened, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to frighten you."
"It's alright, just startled me," Cole insisted, the look of longing came back before he asked, "are you making anything specific?"
"I have not decided. Do you have a request?" Zane asked, trying to read Cole's face.
"Can you make cake? Vanilla cake?"
"Absolutely," Zane smiled, going to grab the ingredients before asking, his back turned to Cole, "are we celebrating something, or is it just cake?"
He heard Cole take in a deep breath, almost as if he was trying to avoid crying, which didn't make much sense, since from what he knew, cake was never for sad things.
Zane turned around to see Cole staring at the counter before he responded.
"Yeah, it's…" he swallowed before locking eyes with Zane, "it would have been my mom's birthday. She passed away a few months ago."
"I am sorry for your loss, Cole." Zane spoke softly, unsure of how best to comfort someone he didn't know very well.
The room went quiet for a few moments, and Zane busied himself with grabbing the rest of the cooking supplies when Cole spoke up again, his voice cracking slightly from the tears.
"Can I help?"
Zane nodded, allowing Cole behind the counter before Zane got to work on the dry ingredients, watching as Cole started working on the wet ingredients.
And when Zane tripped over his own foot, resulting in Cole being covered in flour head to toe, he couldn't stop himself from laughing when Cole did, although he didn't fully understand exactly what was so funny.
2;
"Come on, you stupid hunk of junk!" Nya's shout rang through the Bounty, startling everyone that was aboard.
"How long has she been working on the thruster?" Zane asked, wondering just how long she had gone without food, sleep and water.
"Since yesterday afternoon, I can't pry her away from it." Jay explained, which led Zane to nod before making his way to the control room.
Nya was hunched over the thruster controls, screwdriver in her left hand and a screw hanging out of her mouth, her eyebrows scrunched in anger as she continued to twist the wrench with her right around a bolt.
"Nya?" Zane spoke softly, not wanting to provoke her, before gently putting his hand on her shoulder, "perhaps you should take a break. Jay said that you have been working on it since yesterday."
"I've gotta work on this," she shook her head after taking the screw out of her mouth, "we don't know when we'll have to make a getaway from...whatever Lord Garmadon is planning."
Zane nodded; since Garmadon had disappeared after the destruction of the golden weapons, they had all braced themselves for an attack, even Lloyd who had just started learning the full extent of his powers was getting ready for whatever his dad was going to throw at them.
"I understand your reasoning perfectly, but you are human, Nya. You will get burnt out if you work yourself too hard," he stopped to gently take the wrench out of her hand so she would look at him, "and if we have any chance at stopping Garmadon, we are going to need Samurai X."
Luckily, Nya nodded, and put up her tools, before wiping at her brow with her arm. "Thanks, Zane."
"You're welcome." Zane couldn't help but smile as he watched Nya make her way towards her quarters, and that's when he turned back to the thruster, and started to get to work with schematics pulled up in front of him.
"You will fly again, my friend."
3;
Despite the fact that it was called "The Dark Island", Zane had actually found the perfect place to sit on the beach and watch the sunrise, which was hidden by large rocks, even though he could see the ocean perfectly.
He knew that the others would wake up soon, and they would start working towards the final battle yet again, but for a brief moment, everything was peaceful.
Until he heard the footsteps.
Zane immediately drew his weapon, hearing the slight rustle of sand get louder and louder, until finally, he stood and yelled, ready to attack until the supposed assailant screamed, energy at both of their hands.
Zane immediately sheathed the weapon and took a deep breath, watching as Lloyd did the same, his hand against his chest. "You scared me, Lloyd."
"Likewise," Lloyd took a deep breath before raising an eyebrow, "what're you doing?"
"I'm watching the sunrise, it looks beautiful from here," Zane explained, sitting back down and watching Lloyd's face fall, "although, I could ask you the same thing."
"I just needed some time for myself," Lloyd told him, sitting next to Zane before letting out a sigh, "I don't think I'm ready."
"To fight your father?," Zane offered, resulting in a nod from Lloyd, "You have every reason to be upset about this situation. I just reunited with my father, and I can confidently say that I would be very distraught if we were on opposite sides."
"My entire life, I've lost people. My father got banished, my mother went to work on her research and left me at Darkley's, even my uncle didn't take me in for a long time," Zane watched as Lloyd took in a shaky breath before wiping his face against his sleeve, "I don't wanna lose him again."
"Again?" Zane asked softly, as to avoid provoking Lloyd.
"My dad has been the only one to come back for me. When I got taken by the Serpentine, he left whatever evil place he was in to come save me, and I know you guys came for me too, but…"
"You're scared of being abandoned again after you fulfill the prophecy." Zane spoke aloud as it clicked in his head, and when Lloyd nodded, he could feel his heart break slightly.
"I don't want to be alone again."
Zane nodded, before gently laying his hand on Lloyd's shoulder and he saw the tear streaks on Lloyd's cheeks. "You won't be alone again, because you have me and the others. We are your brothers, and even if you didn't have elemental abilities, we would still be your brothers."
Zane didn't prepare himself adquitally for the hug that Lloyd gave him, and he could feel his circuits and gears tightening under his grasp.
But hearing Lloyd's soft voice whisper, "thank you, Zane," made it all worth it, and he couldn't stop himself from returning the hug.
4;
"No sign of Chen or any of his warriors." PIXAL affirmed with a smile, which led Zane to repeat the message to Kai.
Now that he had been freed, he was fully able to explore exactly what his new body could do, and while he remembered big events clearly and flashes of small things, his memory was still foggy.
But he remembered his friends, and that was the biggest thing that mattered to him.
"Any sign of Skylor?" Kai begged, and Zane had no choice but to shake his head no, seeing the look of anguish on Kai's face grow more prominent.
"Let's keep looking. They couldn't have gotten off the island." Kai insisted, Zane following closely behind, watching as Kai's face went from anger to worry.
"You seem distraught, Kai. About more than Skylor," Zane reached forward and gently set his hand on Kai's shoulder, watching as he turned back to meet his eyes, "do you want to talk about it?"
Kai let out a sigh before turning back to the path and continued to walk, "I feel terrible for what happened. I had to trick Lloyd in order to get the staff from Chen, and then I almost hurt Lloyd and Skylor with the staff. Now she's missing, and...I feel like that's on me."
"No one blames you for that, Kai. Chen is the one who took her, not you." Zane reasoned softly.
"But I allowed myself to be corrupted by the staff. We all know how bad losing power is for Lloyd, and I allowed the power to consume me, to say things to him that...that I haven't believed in a long time."
"As soon as we get back, you two should talk and get everything out in the open," Zane stopped once again to put his hand on Kai's shoulder, "if we are going to fight as one, and stop Chen, we cannot have any harsh feelings towards each other."
"You're right," Kai nodded, before letting out another sigh, "I just hope Lloyd doesn't hate me."
"I think that would be impossible, Kai," Zane insisted, and when Kai turned to raise an eyebrow at him, he continued, "I do not remember everything, and my memories are still foggy, but I remember just how much Lloyd and you have bonded over the years. I have a feeling that after you two talk, he will forgive you."
Kai smiled, which made Zane's emotion levels spike with happiness, before the two continued walking deeper and deeper into Chen's island.
5;
Zane couldn't shake the feeling that he was missing something, like there was a gap in his memory drive, even if PIXAL insisted that there wasn't one.
So he was awake in the bridge, trying to double check; he really did trust PIXAL, but something had happened to his memories, and after the whole situation with his memory switch in the first place, something about forgetting just scared him.
But as he continued to go through his internal hard drive, and his memory drive, it seemed as though PIXAL was correct, and there was no gap.
As he went to close the files, that's when PIXAL popped up in his vision.
"Zane, there is someone in the general proximity of the bridge. Proceed with caution."
Zane straightened his back as he closed the files, even though the only sound he could hear was a slight sniffling that sounded a lot like crying, and grabbed one of the spare katanas that was out, turning slowly to see if he could scope out who was in the room, but that's when Jay turned the corner, a pint of ice cream in his hand that he almost threw at Zane when he screamed.
"What the heck are you doing up, Zane?!" Jay screeched as Zane set the katana on the table and approached him, "You're going to give me a heart attack if you're that quiet!"
"I'm sorry, I was just…" Zane trailed off before making eye contact with Jay, who now had the spoon from the pint of ice cream, that looked like it was Cole's ice cream, in his mouth; the tear streaks barely visible against Jay's cheeks, however, that's what Zane noticed, "What are you doing up at this hour?"
"Could ask you the same thing," Jay responded before sticking another spoonful in his mouth, "couldn't sleep, got hungry, and Cole's name isn't on his ice cream."
"I heard someone crying." Zane asked softly, watching as Jay nearly choked on a chunk of cookie dough before sputtering.
"Maybe it was Lloyd, you know he curls up under the wheel when he doesn't want anyone to know he's crying."
"Lloyd was snoring when I left our room, I would have seen him," he watched as Jay's body deflated slightly and he put the ice cream down on the console before sitting down, which led Zane to put his hand on his shoulder, "do you want to talk about it?"
"I'm just working through some things, things that...you wouldn't remember."
Zane swallowed as he made the connection that Jay knew exactly why he had a gap in his memory that PIXAL couldn't detect, but instead of freaking out, he sat next to Jay, and put his hand on his shoulder. "Maybe not, but I am willing to listen, even if you wanna erase this conversation afterwards."
"Nah, I'm not gonna do that," Jay wiped his hand across his face before taking a shaky breath and turning back to Zane, "You remember when we were trying to get to Stiix because of reports of Clouse being there?"
"Yes, that's when you and Nya resumed dating." Zane affirmed, watching as Jay's face fell slightly.
"Yeah, that's… not exactly what happened…"
6;
'Remember when I put Kai's clothes in with yours, and you had to dress up as the pink ninja? Remember?' The blonde boy pleaded, green eyes full of tears.
He had no idea what this liar was talking about, let alone who he was. Vex insisted he was some sort of liar or traitor, but there was something about the way…
'No.'
He had no idea who this was.
•••
Zane tried to shake the memory away as he made his way to his room, looking over at the photo on his dresser.
The picture that they had taken after finishing the mural on the monastery wall; where Kai was holding onto Nya and Lloyd and Nya was holding onto Jay and Jay was holding onto Cole and Lloyd was holding onto him and he was holding onto PIXAL.
And they were all happy; even though the Oni almost killed them all, there was a large gash next to Lloyd's eye and Cole looked like he had been through the underworld and back, they were happy.
Zane was anything but happy now.
When they returned from the Never-Realm, and they shared weary smiles and hugs with Master Wu and PIXAL, despite the frostbite, Lloyd's obvious concussion and the burns on Kai's hands that would definitely scar, they were happy.
The feeling in Zane's gut was not going away anytime soon. Watching as PIXAL stitched the cut on the back of Lloyd's head, applied bandages to Kai's hands, and treated the frostbite wasn't helping with that either.
Zane didn't deserve to feel happy after nearly killing the others. After nearly killing Lloyd.
While the others were eating dinner, courtesy of Nya, Zane was sitting outside on the steps of the monastery; he didn't need to eat, and even if he did, he didn't think he could stomach it.
'You were built to protect those who cannot protect themselves. You failed your purpose. Both as a ninja, and as yourself.'
Despite all that had happened with his memories, Zane was starting to consider asking Jay to wipe the archive of the Never-Realm. Maybe he wouldn't feel as bad then.
"Hey," a voice interrupted his thoughts, and he lifted his head to see Lloyd smiling at him, although it was more of a sympathetic smile than a genuine one, "mind if I sit here?"
"You're not supposed to be outside, or on stairs for that matter, without supervision," Zane reasoned, but still moved so Lloyd could sit beside him, "you still have a concussion."
"Well, you're here, so I'm being supervised," Lloyd reasoned while sitting, and Zane couldn't deny that logic, and the company was more welcome than the deafening silence, "besides, I need a break from Kai and Master Wu breathing down my neck."
Zane nodded as Lloyd adjusted to get comfortable; he had noticed how understandably protective both of them had grown since they had gotten back, and how Lloyd had insisted immediately that the concussion was Vex's fault, refusing to look Zane in the eye.
"So, are you leaving?" Lloyd's voice cracked, which jolted something in Zane's system as he nearly stood with the shock.
"No, no, I'm not leaving," he insisted, unable to ignore the relief on Lloyd's face as he spoke, "why would you ask that?"
"Because the last time you left the monastery at night, you found my treehouse," Lloyd kicked at a pebble before looking at Zane, "and when the Hypnobri burned down the old monastery-"
But Lloyd's voice cut out as the scene played out in his head.
'Flames, trapped dragons, no more training equipment, no home, nowhere to go, alone, everyone accusing him of causing this, insisting that it was a teaching moment, being ignored, seeing the falcon, following it, the feeling of being alone again.'
"I left because I saw the falcon, and you weren't even there." Zane tried to convince Lloyd that it hadn't been the guilt, feeling like he had screwed up, feeling like he was alone.
"You're right, I was busy being a brat," Lloyd reasoned before looking back at Zane, "but I know as well as anyone what guilt is, and you felt it then, like you feel it now."
Zane swallowed; did everyone know? Was he terrible at hiding this? Had they planned to send Lloyd out?
"I hurt people. A lot of people," Zane swallowed, knowing that there were tears in his eyes, "I hurt you."
"That was Vex-" Lloyd tried to insist, but Zane shook his head, unable to look at Lloyd and instead looked up at the glittering stars.
"You don't have to lie to me, Lloyd. They were my hands, I was the one who…" he couldn't even finish his sentence without choking on the emotions on his throat.
He felt Lloyd's hand on his shoulder, he couldn't look at him, but he couldn't reach over and pull his hand off either, 'what if I freeze him? What if I hurt him again?'
"You know, Master Wu has a saying for things like this, "we cannot change the past, but we can affect the future"," Lloyd quoted, leading Zane to swallow harshly as his master's words rang true in his head, "but I get it. Feeling like you hurt people because it was your hands."
'Morro.'
"Lloyd, I didn't-" Zane started, finally managing to look at Lloyd, but he was cut off by childlike wonder spreading across his face.
"A shooting star! Quick, make a wish!" Lloyd begged, and Zane wiped at his tears before closing his eyes, pretending to make a wish before turning back to Lloyd.
"What did you wish for?" He asked, fully indulging Lloyd at this point, who was standing up. 'Lloyd deserves this, after everything.'
"That you'll come back inside with me and the others," Lloyd held out his hand to Zane, making his head throb with worry.
'You'll hurt him, you'll hurt him, you'll hurt-' "You're not going to hurt me, Zane."
Zane took Lloyd's hand, and allowed him to lead him to the living room.
For the first time since they got back from the Never-Realm, as Cole and Kai went head to head in their video game, as Nya and Jay snuggled on the couch, as he sat in between Lloyd and PIXAL, things felt right again.
He let PIXAL hold his hand, he let Cole high five him, he let Jay give him a fist bump, he hit the empty bag of chips away from Lloyd's head. Even as Master Wu pulled Lloyd away from the TV due to the concussion and Cole took his spot, he still felt calm. Relaxed even. Maybe now, they could all start to heal together.

senseiwu's ninjago aus
a masterpost
Under a read more cause.... It's quite long.
Glacier Dads
During a battle with the SOG and his newly resurrected father, Lloyd hands Wu to Cole and tells him to run, keep his uncle safe. Zane accompanies him, thinking it best for him to have some help. They leave the city with baby Wu and take up residence in a dilapidated cottage outside a small village. As they look after their rapidly aging master, the two ninja start to realise they have feelings for each other. I wanted more dad Cole and love Glacier, and also little Wu, so this seemed inevitable. Echo is in this one.
Human Zane
Zane wakes up one morning with a start - in the most unpleasant way, he finds out that he's somehow turned human. Struggling again with his identity that took him a while to accept, Zane is helped by his friends, especially Cole, who, after his time as a ghost, kinda understands a little bit. Pixal gets it, too. There's Heavymetalshipping in this one. Not sure when it's set. Sometime after s11 though.
Canon Divergent AU
Very creative title, I know. I just change random things about canon here. Morro comes back by accident through the Rift of Return. Wu doesn't become old again immediately because that bugged me. Garmadon starts to return to his old self, he and Morro have conflicts. Faith comes back to Ninjago after S10 and gets to chill. THEY GO GET ECHO ZANE!!! Benthomaar stays at the monastery with his new friends.
LCA AU
Ninjago characters in the world of Lego City Adventures (which you should definitely check out). There's no powers or magical destiny stuff, they're all just normal people who have lived in the city all their lives. Fendrich and Sinclair try and sabotage Cyrus. Dr. Julien helps out with the Mars Mission. The Commissioner cannot deal with Chief Wheeler and Duke combined. The ninja and co are all small, friends with Billy and Madison. Harl is an honorary member of the Walker family. A nice, lighthearted AU.
Family AU
Kai and Nya have three parents who love them dearly. Ray, Maya and Wu. LOTS of angst and also cute family fluff. Ray personally made wedding rings for the three of them because he loves his wife and husband so freaking much. Seabound hurts a whole lot freaking more in this. Kai's dislike of Garmadon in s1 is so much funnier but also a little sad. Lloyd thinks he has the best cousins in the world.
I haven't really talked about this one as much as the others but hopefully I will one day
Royalty AU
Ray is a new knight stationed at the palace and he and Prince Wu have become best friends and secretly fallen for each other. The FSM is a good king who loves his people. Clouse is kinda like Jafar, except he's secretly working for Chen. Evil people keep trying to take over the kingdom. Shintaro, Merlopia and King Mambo V's kingdom are nearby allies.
I don't know if stuff for these ones are tagged, since they were my first Ninjago AUs, I think
High School AU
Started out as an AU inspired by Detroit: Become Human. People have mixed opinions on androids. One day, Jay finds one without identification beaten up and "unconcious" in the park, and brings it back to his dorm, keeping it secret from his friends. They end up uncovering some dark secrets, including one about Zane's brother, at Borg Industries, along with Cyrus Borg, Zane's "childhood" friend. That's just the main story, there are some others. There's Hailstormshipping. Cliff Gordon shows up. Morro goes blind. Dareth is a fun PE teacher. Ronin is a shady janitor. This became a wider au when I had the thought of Griffin calling Neuro "Nerdo" while he's tutoring him. Multiple storylines.
Superhero AU
The ninja are a superhero team led by Wu. Morro is here and his death hurt me. Everyone's families are going missing. Zane is a cyborg with ice powers. Jay can't touch him or he might electrocute him, which sucks because they're boyfriends, so Cole has to do all the hugging for them. Multiple storylines.
Fantasy AU
The characters are random fantasy creatures in a fantasy world. I think the only storyline so far is Chen capturing random creatures, including Garmadon, in a sort of menagerie. Like that one Superman: the Animated Series episode, or that section of Morty's Mind Blowers or whatever that Rick and Morty episode was called. Oh, Vangelis is also here and is evil and Shintaro is kinda not as great as it seems. Look out, Misako and Lloyd.
Kids AU
(I have an askblog for this one!! @ninjakids! I'll be active again there someday....)
Takes place a bit before the show. The current EMs as well as the ninja are kids, being taught by Wu, Garmadon and their parents they got the powers from where applicable, in hopes that a betrayal like what happened in the Serpentine War wouldn't happen with them since they'd hopefully have a stronger bond. Chen sends Skylor to spy on the others but she ends up getting taken in by Misako and Garmadon, much to her delight. Morro is here. Everyone is shocked (pun not intended) to find out that Zane and Echo are robots. Neuro can't control his powers and ends up inadvertantly saving Ray and Maya. Garmadon doesn't get banished but boy are he and his family struggling.
EDIT: also
HAPPY FAMILY AU
Explained here.
Basically. A version of Family AU with as little bad things as possible. Ray and Maya don't get taken away by Krux. Garmadon doesn't succumb to the venom. Morro and Zane have been absorbed into the family.

When We Were Young Part Four
Previous Part | Next Part | Masterlist Pairing: Sherlock Holmes x Reader Rating: T Notes: Not beta-read I hope everyone's had a good week and is doing well :) Thank you for all of the likes/reblogs/replies!! Warnings: Uuuuuh none Summary: “I’ve never come across a boring case, Lord Dawson. Some have perhaps been easier to solve than others, but the truth is never boring.”
Tumblr media
“You seem a little agitated, if you don’t mind my saying so.” You did mind her saying so, but you couldn’t bring yourself to be irritated with Mrs. Lloyd. She was Uncle Cornelius’ housekeeper, had known you since you were very young, and was familiar with your moods. “I’m not particularly looking forward to this evening,” You excused. Mrs. Lloyd glanced at you in the mirror as she adjusted the off-the-shoulder sleeves of your royal blue evening gown. “Could it have anything to do with the fact that Lord Dawson will be in attendance?” She asked. “Among other things,” You replied stiffly. She hummed, lifting her hands to smooth over your hair. “Shall I tuck a flower into the braid? I got a lovely bunch of gardenias at the market this morning,” Mrs. Lloyd offered. She didn’t wait for your answer before she headed for the door. “Why gardenias?” You asked, turning to look at her. “They symbolize purity and gentleness,” She told you. You grimaced. “Are there any flowers that symbolize resentment?” You asked. Mrs. Lloyd frowned. “Petunias. But I didn’t buy any of those.”
-- “It’s the last thing this country needs, reform,” Mycroft had been prattling on for nearly twenty minutes now. Most of the men’s voices uttered murmurs of agreement, though you noted Sherlock’s was absent. You glanced in his direction to find him eyeing the man that had been seated across from you. Lord Fredrick Adelbert Dawson did cut a fine figure, you couldn’t deny it. With a sharp, pointed jaw, dusty blonde hair, hawk-sharp steel blue eyes, and an aquiline nose, he tended to draw the eye of many a young lady. He had even drawn yours when you’d first met him. And then you’d had a conversation with him and any interest you’d had faded quickly. You lowered your eyes to your plate as you saw Sherlock’s gaze flit to you.
“Come now, gentlemen, I do believe we’re boring our companions,” Cornelius chuckled, casting looks around the table, “Perhaps Mr. Holmes could tell us about the case he’s currently working on?” You felt yourself grow tense as everyone’s attention shifted to Sherlock. If he was rattled by this sudden spotlight, he didn’t show it. His face retained its usual mild expression; the only noticeable change was a now quirked brow in Cornelius’ direction. “What is it you’d like to know?” He asked. “Whatever it is you can tell us,” Cornelius pressed. “I’m not sure there’s much Sherlock can say about this one at present,” Mycroft’s voice was tight as he reached for his glass of wine. You watched him take a rather long sip before he lowered the glass to the table. The hand that had been holding it rested on the cloth, balled into a fist. “Is it because it’s confidential, or is it simply dreadfully boring?” Lord Dawson asked. You cast Sherlock a glance, watched him tip his head and narrow his eyes at the question. Oh dear. “I’ve never come across a boring case, Lord Dawson. Some have perhaps been easier to solve than others, but the truth is never boring.” “The truth?” Dawson repeated, brows raised in amusement, “What excitement can one find in the truth?” “About as much excitement as you find at the Theatre Royal in Covent Garden. Is it still under the management of Madame Vestris?” “Sherlock,” Mycroft hurried to hiss from the other end of the table. But the damage had been done. You watched as the blood drained from Dawson’s face. The comment had landed with the other gentlemen at the table, and, unfortunately, with you. Uncle Cornelius, in one of his more intoxicated states, had once made mention of ‘the pretty ladies he’d been in the company of’ at the Theatre Royal. You weren’t naïve; you knew that they were ladies of the night. You reached for your glass of wine, avoiding the eyes of both Sherlock and Lord Dawson as they looked to you for a reaction.   “I quite loved H.M.S. Pinafore!” Cornelius piped up in the hopes of breaking the tension. -- After dinner, the ladies had adjourned to the sitting room for a glass of wine and some conversation; the men had remained in the dining room for brandy and cigars. You had only been able to stand the chatter for a few minutes before you excused yourself. You stepped out into the garden, sighing into the night air and allowing your shoulders to sag just a little. Dinner had been no less than a disaster. Even after Cornelius had moved the conversation on, there had been glares and harsh words veiled as polite conversation between Sherlock and Dawson. You had hated it; you knew that this would be awful, but you couldn’t have fathomed it would be nearly this bad. “Are you cold?” You jumped at the sound of his voice. Sherlock held his hands up in apology as you brought your hand up to your chest, feeling your heart pound. “No,” You lied, the word harsh in your irritation. If he knew you were lying, he didn’t call you on it. Sherlock turned, beginning to wander around the garden in silence. You rubbed your hands over your arms, trying to warm them as he was looking elsewhere. As you saw him turn back toward you, you quickly lowered your hands, clasping them in front of you. “What are you doing out here?” You asked. “I wanted some air,” Sherlock excused. “There’s plenty of air inside.” “And you?” Sherlock asked, “What drew you out?” “... It was too warm in the sitting room,” You fibbed. Sherlock hummed, clearly unconvinced before he began to wander the garden again. “Did they teach you to lie at finishing school?” He had meant it to be a joke, but you nodded and said, “In a way.” His brow furrowed. “Explain,” He requested. You looked down at your hands, considering. “Well... You’re taught to comport yourself according to the rules of society. How to sit, how to eat, how to smile, how to speak, how to laugh. And you’re taught to act that way regardless of however you may truly be, or however you may feel. You learn to become someone else, for the sake of society...Though everyone tells you that it’s for your own sake.” When you looked at Sherlock, you found him watching you closely. “...Promise me you’ll find Enola before Mycroft does,” You pleaded softly. His mouth turned down in irritation. “I’m doing everything I can, dove,” Sherlock swore. “If you were doing everything, you wouldn’t be taking breaks to ruin dinner parties,” You retorted. Sherlock grunted, turning away from you. “Your Lord Dawson is quite the character,” He commented. The butterflies in your stomach began to swirl about in an uneasy flurry. “How so?” You asked. “Well, he’s quite blunt, firm in his opinions. He seems to be under the impression that you’re meek, soft...Though maybe that was the fault of the gardenia,” he glanced back at you. You let out an irritated huff, reaching up and yanking the flower that Mrs. Lloyd had put in your hair out, tossing it on the stone bench near you. You glowered at the sight of Sherlock’s amused smile. “I’m sure Mycroft will be quite cross with you for what you said to Fredrick,” You commented. “Fredrick?” Sherlock repeated, stopping in his place, a thread of incredulity in his tone. You arched a challenging brow, silently daring him to comment on the name further. Rather than press, Sherlock said, “I’m sure Mycroft is already taking the pains to smooth things over. You’re familiar with Dawson, do you think he’s amenable?” “Your brother has a reputation for being persistent to the point of ruthlessness. I’m sure his success is imminent.” “I wasn’t asking you about my brother,” Sherlock pointed out. He tucked his hands behind his back, regarding you. “...Could you be happy with him?” The question took you aback, but your answer was prepared - it was the same thing you’d been telling yourself for months: “My family would stop worrying about my future. It would be a weight off of their mind, and therefore mine.” “That isn’t an answer.” “Yes it is,” You argued. Sherlock considered this. “I disagree,” He finally said, “Let me ask again.” He began to cross the garden toward you in slow, steady steps as he spoke, “Would you be happy, being Lady Dawson? Attending opening day at Ascot? Wearing the latest fashions? Having your name in the papers whenever your husband takes up another of his several affairs?” Your stomach churned uneasily, heart pounding as Sherlock stared you down. “Stop it,” You mumbled. “Bearing two, three little lords or ladies? Shipping them off to school--” “Stop it!” You snapped more loudly. Sherlock went still at that, close enough for you to see the flicker of shock in his eyes. You shook your head a little bit, squeezing your eyes shut for a moment to quell the tears that had begun to prickle, taking a deep breath to steady yourself before you looked at him again. “You’re just as bad as Mycroft sometimes, you know? Prodding me to see how quickly you can get a rise out of me like I’m some experiment and not a person. It’s cruel.” Then you saw it again - the flash of hurt that had crossed Sherlock’s face back at Ferndell. But it didn’t disappear this time. Instead it settled, twisting his handsome features as his eyes lowered to the ground. “You did it when we were young, too. Maybe it was fair then, maybe I was just this irritating noise-making thing that you wanted away from you. But we’re not children anymore,” You reprimanded him, “And what I may have to do to maintain my family’s social standing is none of your concern, Mr. Holmes.” Sherlock looked at you then, eyes skating over your face before he met your gaze. “Your eyes are red,” He said. Irritation shot through you. “I’m not a case, Sherlock,” You sneered before you turned away, intending to leave. Sherlock’s hand caught hold of yours, stilling you. “Let go,” You hissed. “Dove.” His tone was beseeching, gentle. You didn’t trust it. “Let go of me,” You demanded. He did, and you strode away, leaving him alone in the night. -- “Are you alright? ... My dear, you’re shaking,” Mrs. Lloyd gripped you by the shoulders, steering you back into the study. “I-- It was colder than I anticipated,” You excused. You allowed yourself to be steered into a chair by the fire, folded into a blanket, the others fussing about you catching your death. No one noticed the gardenia missing from your hair. No one noticed the white petals peeking out from the pocket of Sherlock’s jacket as he bid Cornelius a good night. -- “Breakfast is on the table. And there’s been a delivery for you - it’s in your study,” Your mother informed you. You thanked her quietly before turning back to your vanity to finish pinning up your hair. You were glad to be home. Your last two days in London had been entirely uneventful. You’d met with your father’s other investor (with minimal condescension; the gentleman had actually been somewhat pleasant) and dropped in on your aunt one more time before traveling home. You hadn’t heard from Dawson, which was a relief. You’d heard nothing from Sherlock. That should’ve been a relief, but it was, in fact, agonizing. You told yourself it was because it meant that you had no news of Enola, but you knew that it was more than that. You couldn’t help but wonder what the two of you may’ve said or done if you’d turned back to him when he’d wanted you to. You hadn’t sought him out despite this curiosity, either in person or by post; he had a case to work on. Besides, you didn’t know what you’d say to him even if you did see him. You two seemed to turn to bickering when left to your own devices. Your curiosity about the delivery won out over your hunger, and you went into your study. There was a beautiful white satin glass vase sitting on your desk filled with purple hyacinths. You knew what those flowers meant well enough - you’d sent them to your Aunt Mary the last time you’d failed to send her a formal thank you note for a dinner party you’d attended at her home. Purple hyacinths were for apologies. You stepped closer to them warily, gently fingering the petals. Your eyes fell to the envelope beside the vase, and your stomach gave a little flip. Sherlock’s handwriting hadn’t changed after all this time; his penmanship had always had a crisp, almost tight quality to it. You picked the envelope up, pulling the note out. Please forgive me, dove.                                    -S.H. At the very bottom of the note was an address for Miss Harrison’s Finishing School.
