I can be pretty aloof but when you get to meet me I'm just a weird and awkward creature. My friends consider me their nb mom friend or at the very least an uncle that's 'alright'. Hi, anon! I'm so excited, this is my first kin assignment. Okay, given what you've described of yourself, I'mmmmm leaning on--

Matt Murdock, which may be kind of a typical suggestion but! I think that the vibe of weird and awkward perfectly suits him. Also, he’s canonically kind of a mom friend, but if a very Catholic character doesn’t fit your vibes, I totally get that. Another suggestion that I hesitate to make at risk of sounding boring is Peter Parker! Simple as, Peter is absolutely weird and awkward but loveable. He looks out for his friends and he’s got a ton of special interests. 

As for a less popular suggestion, perhaps Robert Drake? There are things to love and hate about Bobby’s character but I think that’s what makes him so interesting. He’s very human when all is said and done. He can come off as awkward or silly but he tries his best to do what’s right and he’s grown a lot over various depictions.

Okay, so I have a headcanon that Birdie wakes up crying and/or screaming from PTSD related nightmares, I’ve decided to make a little thing about Eagle trying to comfort him after he has one

TW: TRAUMA AND MENTIONS OF DISSECTION AND ORGANS

Eagle was sleeping on the couch again, he must’ve been watching television or drinking and fell asleep, but that didn’t matter. He was sleeping heavily, until he heard Birdie scream, it was a loud scream, he sounded terrified, Eagle quickly rushed into their bedroom, and was greeted by his distressed lover, he was shaking and crying, he was on the edge of the bed, head in his hands.

“Birdie?” Eagle wondered

Birdie gave no answer, only a grunt, he was still crying and Eagle came and sat next to him, he tried to put a hand on his shoulder to attempt to comfort him, but Birdie pulled away

“D-Don’t…please don’t touch m-me…” Birdie sobbed

“Oh…my apologies…” Murmured Eagle

Birdie continued to cry and sob, Eagle watching in sadness over seeing his distraught lover, he silently left the room to grab some water from the fridge, he also made a silent return and sat down, holding the water in his hands until his lover calmed down. Birdies cries calmed down, from loud sobs to the occasional cough and sniffle.

“E-Eag?” Birdie sighed, his voice still a bit wobbly

“Yes, dear?”

“C-Can I have that water?”

Eagle rolled his eyes, “Of course.”

Birdie took the water with shaking hands and drank slowly.

“Oi…do you mind staying for a minute? I-I just want to be around someone…” Birdie sighed

“What is with the ridiculous questions, today? Of course I will.” Eagle claimed, Birdie smirked at him.

Birdie lied down, he patted the side of them bed next to him, Eagle quickly flipped to his side, Birdie moving down to grab on to Eagles waist to place his head on his chest.

“Are you comfortable, Birdie?” Eagle soothed

“Hell yeah…this is bloody nice…”

“Good…may I ask you something?”

“Go ahead, luv.”

Eagle started to think about how to ask him this question, but then he got it.

“Erm…why did you wake up crying and screaming?” Asked Eagle

Birdie got a look of sadness in his eyes and sat up.

“W-Well…i-it happens when I-I have bad dreams about stuff that’s…happened to me before…” sighed Birdie

Eagle nodded

“S-Sometimes it’ll be a part of it, sometimes i-it’ll be the whole t-thing, sometimes it’ll e-even be all of it, and sometimes the m-moments before it happened will play out…I-I know what happens…it really sucks…”

Eagle nodded again

“May I asked what played out this time?”

Birdie breathed in and sighed

“All of it…I-I got to t-the dissection and then I woke up…man…I-if I had a quarter every time I’ve watched my stomach removed while I was awake I’d have 75 cents…but if it was in a dream I’d have 3 dollars…”

Eagle frowned, he looked at Birdie

“Why must you always joke about your trauma?”

“Because it helps me deal with it!”

“Well, maybe you should find other ways to deal with the trauma…”

Birdie scoffed and lied back down, holding Eagle close

“Birdie…do you need anything?” Asked Eagle, he wanted to make sure Birdie was comfortable and calm

“No…I’m fine, all I need is you…ugh that was so bloody sappy.”

Birdie grimaced, Eagle laughed. The lovers embraced each other, and would soon drift off, but Eagle made sure to remember this experience, to help his lover calm down when his memories came to strike him again.

trying to describe black sails to people is my personal sisyphean task. “it’s a pirate show” bad. “it’s functionally a prequel to treasure island but also it’s not at all” bad again, and also confusing. “it’s about pirates trying to destroy western civilization” mostly only true of the second half of the show and also doesn’t fully capture what i love about it. “it’s a pirate show about the power of stories, how civilization uses shame to keep people in line and turns them into monsters, and the power of queer rage. it’s got some of the best acting, writing, everything of any show i’ve ever seen.” the most accurate, but way too long and makes me sound pretentious and insane. send help i just want to talk about my favorite show.
