where is the promise of His coming?

"but you, daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.” dan 12:4

i think we need to address the elephant in the room.  as many of you know, i have been on "extra" rapture watch during the last few days.  yes, i am always rapture oriented and i still believe it will be to fulfill something specific in scripture, perhaps yet revealed.  now it seems the widow anticipated is closing.  i will not apologize for getting excited about meeting my Lord, but i also think a bit of exclamation is needed and deserved by readers of mine.

we believe those "many" mentioned in the verse at the opening are the watchmen and the knowledge to be received will be the unsealing at the end, happening as they run "to and fro" through scripture.  it shall happen rapidly and many mistaken understandings shall occur.  but we have the Spirit of God as our guide and believe: "God has revealed them to us through His Spirit.  for the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God." 1 cor 2:10

did God know mistakes would be made beforehand?  "in that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes.  even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight." luke 10:21  so it seems we're babes and human babes and God always knew that.

if we just all keep going blithely along, saying "someday," where can anyone find urgency in that?  oh sure, perhaps the dedicated and committed, but the lazy and the laggards, probably not.  i've heard the watchmen called puppy bloodhounds learning to sniff among the dandelions.  and yes, some have been distracted with a wrong scent, but in reality it is the fragrance of Christ drawing us all.  they have spent hours searching the scriptures as admonished to do, and like Christ was, we esteemed them stricken, smitten by God.  i would say they are in good company as even our brethren are even now numbered among the scoffers and mockers?

what happens if the watchers don't warn?  "but if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, and the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand." eze 33:6  could the sword not just as easily be described as the tribulation?  you see, the "watch" is not just to alert the saved what is quickly coming, but the lost as well.

i know there is not a watchman anywhere who would wish their forecasting wound anyone's faith.  but i would also wonder whether their faith has such shallow roots that it could be so easily uprooted.  i remember the parable about seed sowing and how it was received or rejected and i would ask: "can the watchman be held any more accountable for whether the seed grows or doesn't grow than the sower was?"  just as there are fair-weather friends there are fair-weather believers.  "you are saved, if you hold fast that word which i preached to you — unless you believed in vain." 1 cor 15:2  "now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith." 1 tim 4:1

"I go to prepare a place for you.  and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also." john 14:2-3  that promise from the Lord is still in effect.  i know many of us joined in the excitement of a possible rapture date.  i know i did and am i sorry it didn't happen?  exceedingly.  does that mean i will not "expect" another day?  definitely not.

do i believe He is still coming?  most definitely.  do i think it will somehow fulfill the typology and shadow laid out in the scripture?  yes.  "declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure." isa 46:10  do i still believe it will be this year?  with all that is in me.  we still see "the day" approaching.  the times and signs abound, even the earth itself is groaning for deliverance.

i just got through watching "hacksaw ridge" again, for the second or third time.  it's about a conscientious objector who would serve as a medic only, carrying no gun.  i know war is usually categorized as between the good guys and the bad guys.  there may be a struggle between right and wrong, but that is often defined in one's own mind.  you see, scripture tells us, "no one is good but One, that is, God." mark 10:18

even after much abuse and ridicule from his own comrades, he managed to rescue 75 wounded from certain death.  he is quoted as repeatedly praying, "just let me save one more God."  he kept saying that while there was strength in his body and his own wounds kept him from continuing.

that's what we are should be praying, "just let me save one more God."  that's the goal we should all be living with as long as there is a breath in our bodies.  not just for the sake of each soul but for the glory of our God; because it is His desire that none should perish.

yes, even i was momentarily distracted (or attracted) during rapture high watch.  although i do daily updates on the website i maintain, once a month i update several pages as needed.  things usually done gradually throughout the month had taken a back burner.  as soon as the watch was over, i got busy.  you see, we occupy.  we do the assignment our Lord gave us.

many moons ago there used to be a show called, "this is your life," where all the people and deeds of your life were paraded before the cameras.  the life of private doss from hacksaw ridge was so paraded; showcasing deeds done and lives he had saved.  i wonder if that is what it will be like in the judgment and if our life will stand up as well as his did.  you see, he was a seventh day adventist.  his doctrine might not have matched many.  yes, there are several immutable truths we must hold to but all the rest are just man's differing opinion.  it is our relationship with our Lord that matters.

"test all things; hold fast what is good." 1 thes 5:21  be like the bereans in acts 17:11.  we don't throw the baby out with the bath water and we don't throw our faith out disappointments.  there will be disappointments in life and trials to refine us.  "but He knows the way that i take; when He has tested me, i shall come forth as gold." job 23:10  so if and when there is another "high watch," i will be watching again; watching for my Lord and yours.  one thing assured, we are one day closer!

39. A Political Beast (Rev. 13:1-10, 10/4/2020)

COMMENTARY:

The author of Revelation hasn't had access to Hebrews, which is being written at about the same time: just when the spiritual fury set into motion by the crucifixtion of Jesus is getting ready to direct the finger of God against the Temple of Jerusalem, which is the lightening rod in the numerology of the Bible created in the scriptures when the chapters and verses were included in the printed Bible. Daniel 7:13. I've described this to you elsewhere, the 7 being the lightening rod and the 13 being Yaweh, Queen of Battle, with the terrible lightening of Her terrible swift sword, loosed against Babylon.

The Roman centurion was the fateful lightening of her terrible swift sword in 70 CE on what is now Temple Mount. In terms of the destruction of the temple and the coming of the 2nd Coming of the Son of Man, He brought along the 10th Legion to share in the baptism of the blood of the Lord. Jesus was baptized by water, but Cornelius had been baptized by Fire and Blood in his devotion to Duty. The fall of Jerusalem was just another day in Paradise. Good training for the a serious fight.

Cornelius is the 13 in the equation of Daniel 7:13, Mark 13 and Revelation 13. Herod's Temple was the 7. Israel was ground zero.

John Mark doesn't include the Mount Olivet Discourse because he wasn't there. He didn't know about it until he was introduced to Quelle and read the autograph of the Gospel According to Mark at Cornelius's estate.

Revelation 13 is a sort of cubist portrait of the Centurion as a historic artifact in all four Gospels, Acts and several of Paul's letters. Epistemologically, the centurion emerged as an organizational innovation that made the legions impregnable from sometime after the 7 Kings straight as a laser to the Command Sergeant Major of the US Army., as a proxy for the American republican centuriate. This is what Romans 13:1 - 7 is all about. That is the only thing that Paul brings to Rome that the Romans hadn't accumulated in the Palestine Quelle and what ever Theophilus had accumulated in Rome that brought the whole covenant cutting ceremony between the God of Genesis 15 and the centurions at the tomb in Matthew 28, which is consistent with the timeline of the Gospel of Peter.

Pilate and Cornelius composed and sent an intelligence report to the Emperor by way of the Praetorian Guards, according to Tertullian. Resurrection would have captured the imagination of any Roman soldier inside the Roman Antonio fortress overlooking Herod's palace. It was their duty to make a formal report of the greatest urgency. Between the time of the cross and the recall of Pilate in 36, somebody between Pilate and Tiberius dies, Sajanus, who is revealed as plotting a January 6 kind of political coup against Tiberius, which, traditionally, began by killing Tiberius, is savagely and publically executed based, as I understand it, on a warning from his sister that foul play was afoot. And, then, Tiberius introduces the soldiers informal title for Jesus Followers, Christian. which migrates with Roman tourism to Antioch by the time of the Jerusalem Council. I mean, it's important to connect the dots between all these events, Quelle and what Luke means in Acts 24:22. Felix probably had reviewed Quelle at some point, routinely, but was kept out of the loop between the pagan Christians in the Praetorian Guards and centurions throughout the Roman legions.

Leviathan, the sea monster, is the Roman Empire, which was, first, a sea power. It was like the British Empire in that regard. Behometh, the river monster, is the Roman legions, which had conquered Gaul by its rivers, The fusion of these two dimensions of the centurion is Daniel's 4 creature with the iron jaw. And the centurion in Mark 15:39: the centurion is the iron teeth of the leopard with the iron jaw.

Now, in terms of the mundane numerology of the Bible, which is the numerology of the chapters and verses added by man but directed pretty emphatically by the Holy Spirit, it is useful to consider the fact that the verse structure of Revelation 13 and Matthew 13 are the same and that, in terms of the mechanisms of numerology, when you reduce 13 to a single digit, it becomes 4 and then consider that Mark 4 and Revelation 13 employ the same verse structure and echo each other at 9 and 18. Virtually everything after Revelation 4:2 needs to be understood as poetry similar to the Koran. And the part that John Mark leaves out of The Gospel of John is Mark 13, because John Mark wasn't there. Yet Mark 13 leads directly to 70 CE.

John Mark is the witness to Jesus' agony at Gethsemene. Everybody else was alseep and John Mark is the Beloved Disciple. He's part of Martha, Mary and Lazarus's household in some manner: Mary of Bethany may have been Mary of Jerusalem, which, when you connect the dots between the banquet hall for the last supper and Jesus' care to keep the Betheny residence and Jerusalem residence separate from each other. John Mark meets Jesus when he is 12 eyars old and becomes type cast as the Beaver for the rest of his life. John Mark is the Rich Young Man who wants to join up with Jesus, but Jesus has other plans for him, Besides, John Mark may have become a 15 year old youth ready to campaign with the big boys, he still slept with a teddy bear. He's the young man wrapped in a sheet who escapes by running away, naked.

One of my favorite examples of the Holy Spirit's influence on the mundane numerology is Acts 10:34 - 43. When you reduce the verse numbers to single digets, you end up with two 7s' acting like cosmic quotation marks and is an example of the "doubling" in the KJV Genesis 41:32 I employ, personally, in my prayer life to discern the Holy Spirit's activity around me. This section of Acts validates Gary Haberman's thesis of the explosion of set doctrine after Pentacost. Acts 10 is the proof. It's like Tertullian: his report is perfectly consistent with the routines of the Roman Bureacracy represented by the Praetorian Guard.

And, after the Holy Spirit bapatized Cornelus and his household without being, first, baptized by watter, Cornelius told Peter the details of the report he and Pilate sent to Theophilus in Rome that compelled Tiberius to introduce "Christians" to Rome.

Where could Peter have received these details except from a Roman source: Peter and the others had gone to ground and it was left to the women to start the ball rolling on the intelligence file on The Way referred to in Acts 24:22.

The earthquake in Matthew 28 was the effect of the event horizon that created the Shroud of Turin when the corpse of Jesus was sntached out of that tomb, physically, and left a vacuum in the atmosphere of the tomb that slammed shut like the thunder created by the vacuum left by a lightening bolt and caused the centurion and his 16 soldiers to swoon and have the vision of the  covenant cutting ceremony like Abram in Genesis 15.

The epistemology of the Bible is inerrant and it begins in Genesis 1:1 and runs right through Cornelius, Revelation 13, Romans 13:1 - 7 and the 2nd Amendment to the 19th Amendment to take possession of the Universe.

It is clear that Revelation was written at about the same time the Jewish wars began. Revelation is the book end to Genesis. As literature, the Bible begins like the Odyssey, in the cosmos and ends, with Revelation, in the Cosmos, with the entire narrative coming to a singularity of dramatic focus at John 11:35, the moment Jesus gets His marching orders to the Cross. From that moment, He becomes a dead man walking. Then, with the Resurrection, the narrative explodes back into the cosmos, like a cosmic dandelion, sowing itself in the wind,

And the most fertile soil for The Word was the Roman servant leaders of the Legions, the centuriate. Tertullian knew what he was talking about.

Cold-Calling Preview

Figured I’ve been taunting you folks a fair bit. Here’s a sample of what is  slooooowly coming down the pipeline.

And as the intended target shrugged off the P-90 fire with almost exactly the same ease as Ra had once upon a time, Daniel reflected that it really was just a typical Tuesday in the lives of SG-1.

Yesterday, PK4-399

The data from PK4-399 seemed promising at first. The planet had the same nitrogen-oxygen balance as Earth did, with no outstanding concentrations of anomalous materials or lifeforms that seemed hazardous to human life. In fact, the MALP they’d sent first even provided a headlight-illuminated view of what seemed to be the inside of a temple complex. There were crumbling paintings on wall scrolls and red pillars. Someone had left a flat tray with cups on a dusty-looking table, and the MALP’s tires were rolling across an apparent rug.

“Stay or go?” Daniel asked, after they’d spent an hour reviewing the feeds and the atmospheric data.

They’d even been able to send the MALP to find both the Dial Home Device and a conveniently located staircase, though the steps were too high for a wheeled vehicle to traverse. If there was any chance there was a human civilization that would help Earth stand against the Goa’uld—or was willing to accept help for the same reason—Daniel was ready to be the first through the Gate.

Aside from the robot, anyway. As a valuable member of the team, Daniel was sure Jack would make sure Sgt. Rollo V got credit for his discoveries. If he didn’t, SG-2 probably would, and slap another promotion on the MALP for good luck.

“Go,” was the order by General Hammond, and SG-1 headed through with no further prompting. The wormhole was inviting despite the inevitable sense of disorientation that followed gate travel and altitude adjustments, and Daniel was eager to get moving once again. It was a brand new day around a new sun.

Their first breath of the new planet’s air made Daniel sneeze.

“Always a great sign,” Jack said, as their team fanned out to secure the area as quickly as possible. The inch-thick layer of dust was the most likely culprit, but no one else had any time for that. “Teal’c, got anything?”

“Apophis never visited it during my tenure as First Prime. This complex is unfamiliar.” Teal’c took up a position next to the only apparent exit to this gate’s chamber, staff weapon at the ready. “But it does not mean the inhabitants are not potentially hostile.”

Daniel sniffed, then adjusted his glasses by the bridge as he bent to examine one of the wall scrolls. His fingers did not brush the delicate-looking paper, because it looked like it would crumble at the slightest touch. “Oh! Jack, this isn’t Goa’uld. It’s not even an Indo-European derivative.”

“It’s not?” Sam asked, heading over to join Daniel once she’d finished her handheld scans of the immediate area. Nothing suspicious, or else she would have said something.

“Not at all,” Daniel said, stepping back so Sam could see. “It’s actually traditional Chinese script. The signature—or what I’m assuming is a signature, because it could easily be a title or part of one—is fairly stylized, but it’s hard to mistake.”

“And it says…?” Jack prompted.

“This part says ‘crane wings over bamboo valley,’” Daniel replied, pointing at a tiny line of script toward the upper right corner. “The other seems to be the artist’s name. Other than that, the use of literati painting—or shuǐ mò huà—” Daniel cut himself off as Jack raised an eyebrow. “Hey, this is the first sample we have of what language the inhabitants of this place may have used. Even if they did use Chinese when this was originally painted, the art is old. The language could have easily shifted over time. Just ask about the Great Vowel Shift in English sometime.”

“If I don’t, I’m sure you’ll let me know when we run into someone not playing by those rules,” Jack replied, and Daniel shot him a dry look. Knowing their luck—and Jack’s penchant for making it worse by tempting the universe—he’d just guaranteed that they’d run into spacefaring pirates straight out of a cheesy film at some point in the near future. “Let’s move. With any luck you’ll be testing your Mandarin on the locals soon.”

“That assumes that they even speak Mandarin,” Daniel protested, but he was already heading for Teal’c.

“I wonder how long it’s been since the last time this planet’s culture encountered the Goa’uld,” Daniel heard Sam say, but there wouldn’t really be any way to guess beyond tracking linguistic drift in written language until they met someone who wanted to hold a conversation.

“It may be hard to tell. Chinese characters are one of several writing systems that evolved from pictograms, but they’ve been used by half a dozen cultures. Now, if that had been simplified instead—” Actually, if it had been in simplified characters, that would have raised questions Daniel wasn’t sure he wanted to know the answer to, except for the worrying and pressing possibility that the Goa’uld had somehow been abducting people from China while both Earth-based Stargates were effectively defunct. “Uh, never mind. That would have been bad.”

“Define ‘bad,’” Sam suggested, while they hiked up the stairs the MALP had been utterly stymied by. “Because thus far, this planet seems to be about as peaceful as the Land of Light. Aside from not encountering any people.”

“We’d need to start asking China about missing persons’ reports,” Daniel said, wincing. “As a worst-case scenario.”

“I can just imagine how well that would go over,” Jack commented, in a tone that said it was a vast understatement.

“Do languages evolve on Earth so quickly?” Teal’c asked, as they approached the surface.

“They can,” was Daniel’s reply, and then they got their first real look at PK4-399.

SG-1 emerged from the cave and stood blinking in the early morning sunlight, and the terrain unfolded before them. While the MALP’s data and Sam’s scans had indicated oxygen levels consistent with decent altitude above sea level, it was one thing to hear it and another entirely to look down the slope of a mountain. The staircase they’d followed cut through a deep and ancient forest, giving them just enough of a view to see a valley between their vantage point and the next, shorter peak. If it wasn’t for the plant life being entirely unsuited for Colorado Springs, being far less scrubby, it was almost like they’d turned around and walked right back through the Stargate onto a random deciduous forest by accident. And best of all, there seemed to be a village somewhere down the slope, because a thin streak of smoke was visible above the treetops.

Daniel sneezed again.

“It may be spring here,” Sam suggested, eyeing the flowers growing on the path like Earth dandelions would. “Or early summer. But I don’t want to make too many assumptions about seasonal patterns on a new planet.”

“Sounds like both,” Jack said. “Well, let’s head down there. With any luck, we’ll be able to do the ‘take me to your leader’ thing and make new friends.”

“Indeed,” Teal’c said. Which really seemed to sum it up.

“Danny, you’re up first.”

Fav Fruit: I mostly like apples and bananas. Specifically, moderately sour breeds of apple -- and NOT anything named “Delicious”

Fav Season: Spring and fall are best. Summer is too hot. Winter is fun, but i live in Wisconsin and it gets very, very cold.

Fav Book: I’m not sure. The only book I have tried reading a second time is Frankenstein. I also am a fan of Lord of the Rings and NK Jemison’s Inheritance trilogy.

Cats or Dogs: Cats. I’m slightly afraid of dogs. Not a phobia, I just am a bit wary of a new dog at first, and it takes me a bit to trust them.
