How do you find pose references for all those gorgeous and cute and aaaaaaa drawings. H o w. Where. (<-from someone struggling to draw characters interacting)
(if you don't use references, take it as a compliment to your godly anatomy and posing skills)
I don't really use references for poses that much. I'm not sure how to explain this without sounding weird but when I'm about to draw something, I visualize it in my mind, and when it's character art I sort of see them as 3D models that can be posed and rotated. And I just sort of try to replicate that on paper, sometimes it's easy and sometimes it doesn't work out at all (a good reminder that when you browse someone's art, you usually only see the pieces that the artist is at least passably proud of, not the piles of failed projects that went nowhere).
#when I use references it's usually for very specific poses and gestures that I'm not familiar with#if I were to draw someone shooting a crossbow or tap dancing or weaving on a loom#I'd have to look up references because you can only do those actions in a particular way or it doesn't look right#and I have no clear visual memory of what that action looks like#but if it's a common general casual everyday pose like a guy sitting or lying down in a way or another#you can draw that in so many different ways you can just position them however you want and it will look believable#and a lot of my poses are general everyday poses#I dunno that's how it works for me#definitely use references if you're unsure or drawing something you've never drawn before#but once you get sorta comfortable I personally feel like it's a lot more fun and interesting to draw from memory and imagination#this got rambly and I'm sorry I couldn't direct you to a pose reference databank of some kind I know they exist but I've never used them#answered#anonymous

"Last Wednesday, the Israeli Supreme Court held a hearing in response to a petition brought forward by Israeli rights group, HaMoked, to reveal the location of a Palestinian X-Ray technician detained from Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza in February. It was the first court session of its kind since October 7."
if people in israel can speak up against this genocide, as someone who will not be subject the legal repercussions they are likely to face, how can you stay silent?

They built a concentration camp.

I don't think words can describe what this other than genocide.

ARREST ME BUT MAKE IT SEXY • S.REID

SUMMARY: The team successfully arrests a murder suspect—only to realize they’ve just taken down a highly respected FBI agent from another unit. Furious that they’ve blown her undercover mission, she decides to make their mistake their problem. After all, if they’ve already ruined her op, she might as well have a little fun with it.
PAIRING: agent!fem!reader x spencer
tags: reader is a lil shit lmao, season12!spencer, use of y/n, heavy flirting, criminal activity, dirty jokes, use of my love, baby, sweetheart and cutie, bauteam is kinda stupid (sorry lol)
a/n: rushed + editor is occupied for the foreseeable future</3
w/c: 0.8k

THE INTERROGATION ROOM was unbearably tense, but not for you. You sat comfortably in your chair, wrists still cuffed to the table, fingers idly tapping out a rhythm. Across from you, the BAU team filtered in and out, their patience wearing thin with each passing minute.
Hotch was the first to take a crack at you.
“Do you know why you’re here, ma’am?” he asked, voice as steady and unreadable as ever. He leaned against the table, watching you like a puzzle he was determined to solve.
You blinked up at him, then let a slow grin spread across your lips. “No idea, sir,” you responded in an exaggerated, mocking tone, leaning back in your chair to mirror his stance.
He exhaled sharply, sliding a set of crime scene photos in front of you. The images were gruesome—bodies left in precise, calculated poses, signs of struggle, but no obvious traces of the killer. You studied them, but only for a moment.
“Tragic,” you mused. “But what does this have to do with me?”
“You were at the scene,” he said.
You tilted your head. “So were a lot of people.”
“An hour before the body was found.”
“Maybe I was just getting coffee.”
Hotch narrowed his eyes, unimpressed. He was looking for cracks, a sign that you were lying, but all he found was amusement. You were enjoying this.
A minute later, he sighed and pushed back from the table. “I’ll give you time to think.”
“Oh, how generous,” you cooed, watching as he left.
“Bye handsome!”
Next was Morgan.
He didn’t even sit down. He leaned against the wall, arms crossed, looking you up and down with the kind of exasperation reserved for people he really didn’t have the patience for.
“You’re enjoying this way too much,” he muttered.
You grinned. “I just love a good misunderstanding. It’s like a game except you’re waisting my time. Then again I’m a salary employee soooo…”
“This ain’t a game,” he said. “You were at the crime scene. You have connections to known criminals. You disappear off the grid for weeks at a time. And you expect us to believe you had nothing to do with this?”
“Connections to criminals?” You gasped dramatically. “You wound me. What next? You’re going to tell me Santa Claus isn’t real?”
Morgan let out a long sigh. “Man, I really don’t like you.”
“That’s okay,” you replied easily. “Not everyone has good taste.”
Morgan gave you one last irritated glance before pushing off the wall. “I’m done here.”
Emily took a turn after that, but she only lasted ten minutes before giving up, muttering about how you “liked messing with them too much” and “needed to be someone else’s problem.”
And so, that’s how you ended up with Spencer.
He was quieter than the others. He sat across from you, his fingers tapping against the table, observing rather than accusing.
For a while, neither of you spoke.
Then, finally, he said, “You’re making a lot of references that only someone with a specific academic background would appreciate.”
You tilted your head. “And you caught them. Very impressive, Dr. Reid. I knew someone would appreciate my sense of humor someday.”
Spencer didn’t react to the compliment. “You want us to doubt our conclusion, but you haven’t provided a solid alternative explanation.”
You leaned forward slightly, tilting your head. “Maybe because it was super obvious and all of you have college degrees..”
He frowned. “Then tell me—what were you really doing at the crime scene?”
You sighed, pretending to think. “You’re the profiler, you tell me.”
“Seriously?” he sighed.
You grinned. “Oh, come on, doctor. You of all people should appreciate a good intellectual challenge.” You dragged out his name, watching with satisfaction as his ears turned a little pink.
“You’re trying to manipulate the conversation,” he said slowly.
You let out a laugh. “Manipulate is such a strong word, I just like hearing your voice.” You coo.
Spencer swallowed.
Before he could respond, the door swung open.
“Hotch,” an analyst panted, holding up a phone. “We, uh… just got a call from her unit chief. And he is furious.”
A pause.
Hotch took the phone and pressed a button, putting the call on speaker.
“Are you all out of your damn minds?!” a voice roared. “Do you have any idea what you just ruined?! She’s one of ours! Let her go. NOW.”
The room went silent.
Morgan groaned. “You have got to be kidding me.”
You stretched your arms out dramatically. “Well, this has been fun.”
Hotch sighed, rubbing his temple. “Uncuff her.”
The moment your wrists were free, you rolled them, wincing slightly. “That was so unnecessary.”
Morgan shook his head. “You should’ve just told us.”
You scoffed. “Please! Your work was lazy at best, I even looked like a federal agent. Damn that dress code…”
As you stepped past Spencer, you leaned in just enough for only him to hear.
“Thanks for the chat, genius,” you murmured. “I would say next time we won’t need the handcuffs but what’s the fun in that.”
Then, without another word, you walked out, leaving behind a stunned team and a very, very flustered Spencer Reid.

Hey, artists of tumblr (and general nerds), it's me, the archery guy! The one with the pole, you know, this one:

(I'm the human in there, not the animated characters)
ANYWAY, I need your help!
I know some of y'all are using my posts as art references (and that's GREAT! I love that!) And I want to maybe look into creating a better resource for artists, like a pose reference bank or something like that, but I don't know where to start?
So tell me: where do you go for your art refs? Are there specific photographers/pose banks I should get in touch with? Or if not, where would you recommend I start uploading my own? Patreon? OF (it doesn't HAVE to be porn you know)? A secret third option?
Let me know!
P.S. Here's some stuff that was lying around on my phone as tribute:

#I was gonna reply to a specific ask about this but the reply failed to upload so now the ask has vanished *shakes fist at tumblr*#archery#art#art reference#drawing reference#archer#archer oc#pose reference

Twisted Wonderland characters when their lover jokingly asks, 'Would you still love me if I were a worm?'
NRC Third Years

Trey Clover
Trey is icing cupcakes when his lover hugs him from behind and asks, “Would you still love me if I were a worm?”
Trey doesn’t miss a beat. “Would you be a dessert worm or a garden worm?”
“What’s the difference?”
“Well,” he says with a soft chuckle, “if you’re a dessert worm, you could help me taste-test chocolate.”
You laugh, and Trey smiles warmly, turning to press a gentle kiss to your cheek.
“Either way,” he murmurs, “I’d keep you safe in a warm pocket. I’d still love you—worm or not.”
Cater Diamond
Cater gasps dramatically, clutching his chest. “A worm?! Babe, why would you downgrade yourself like that?!”
He flips his camera to selfie mode with a grin. “Would I love you if you were a worm? Heck yeah. I’d still take aesthetic pics of you curled up on a tiny leaf, add some sparkly filters, and post them everywhere.”
You blink in surprise. “Really?”
“Totally,” he says, striking a pose and winking. “#WormGoals for life.”
Leona Kingsholar
They’re lounging under a tree, Leona half-asleep with his lover lying beside him. You whisper, “Would you still love me if I were a worm?”
Leona cracks one eye open. “…Why the hell would you want to be a worm?”
“Just answer the question.”
He grunts softly. “…Tch. Yeah. I’d put you in a nice planter and let you bask in the sun while I nap.”
Leona pulls you into his arms, his voice low and sure. “Even if you were a bug, you’d still be mine.”
Vil Schoenheit
Vil stares, arching an elegant brow. “Darling, do you think I’m shallow?”
His lover smiles slyly and asks, “Would you?”
Vil smirks. “I’d design you a diamond-encrusted glass habitat and moisturize you with the finest mineral water.”
He sighs dramatically. “A worm, really?”
You grin teasingly. “You didn’t say no.”
Vil rolls his eyes but can’t hide the smile. “Ugh. Fine. I’d still love you.”
Rook Hunt
His lover looked up at him with a playful smile and asked, “Mon chéri, would you still love me if I were a worm?”
Rook’s eyes sparkled as he grinned. “Mon amour~! A worm is but a humble being, yet you ask if my devotion would falter?!”
He spun dramatically. “Never. I would sing poetry to you in the garden and protect your squiggly body from hungry birds!”
Then he took your hand and kissed it gently. “Love is eternal.”
Idia Shroud
Idia’s curled up in his gaming chair. “A w-worm? Like… annelida class? You’d have no eyes or limbs…”
He spirals into a mild panic, stammering as his thoughts race. His lover’s soft laughter cuts through his anxiety.
“…I-I mean… I’d code you a tiny worm-sized VR headset and keep you safe in a USB tube… and… yeah…”
His cheeks flush a deep red, and he mumbles, “…I’d love you even if you were a slimy little slimeball or, uh, a worm or whatever.”
He scratches the back of his neck, avoiding eye contact but clearly meaning every word.
Malleus Draconia
Under the soft glow of the moonlight, his beloved asks gently, “Mal, my darling, would you still love me even if I were a worm?”
Malleus tilts his head thoughtfully. “A worm?”
A soft smile curls on his lips, amused yet tender. “Then I would protect you, my dear, as one protects a star—small, delicate, and infinitely precious.”
He leans in, brushing a gentle kiss against your forehead. “Of course I’d love you, no matter what form you take.”
Lilia Vanrouge
“Ohhh, that’s a new one!” Lilia giggles, eyes sparkling with amusement.
“You as a worm? I’d build you a tiny worm-sized guitar and serenade you every night. You’d be the cutest wriggler I’ve ever seen!”
He pokes your cheeks gently. “Yes, yes, yes! No matter what, you’d always be my favorite.”
Lilia grins, his playful energy filling the room. “Worm or not, you’ve got my heart—and my songs.”

I had fun writing this, lmao. It gives me motivation to finish the 2nd year and 1st year.

To everyone in the art community, please:
Tracing is effective. But only as a learning tool. Telling people "never trace" can be robbing them of methods that could have been effective to their learning process if they'd known about them.
The "art of using tracing" is a bit looked over, so I have five points:
(it's a long one)
1: AS A RULE OF THUMB, DO NOT POST/SHARE TRACED AND STOLEN ARTWORK. This is not only lying to anyone you show it to, if you're trying to come off as, "I'm so good, look at what I did," but most importantly, it's lying to yourself. You'll trick yourself into not needing to get any better, and you will stagnate if you start to rely on tracing as a form of stealing. If you come to realize that you are, you should stop using any tracing methods altogether to keep yourself from abusing it. It's a slippery slope for beginners, and a big reason why you’ll hear almost everyone echo that you just shouldn’t trace at all. The issue is that this ignores the ways that tracing can actually be good.
2: Tracing sets the stage for motor skills/hand-eye coordination. I've seen so many early-stage beginner artists get upset that the art that they make of their favorite character/oc is messy, or maybe they just don't even know what they want to draw and can’t "make themselves mindlessly doodle.” These early arists then become completely disheartened and upset, especially if they start to look at other people for comparison. Tracing over work or even over photos is a way to train your hand to hold and wield a pencil/stylus properly without you being worried about the finished product. Think of it like a way to dip your toe into learning the process of what making art feels like, without having to get overwhelmed with searching up pointers and people telling you, "10 quick tips to become a master artist!!!!!!!" (<- please ignore those) If you’re just beginning, your hand-eye coordination needs to be trained, and you shouldn't bog yourself down so much thinking about end products just yet, so if tracing is the way to get you started, go for it. If you're a bit more experienced, tracing and drawing over reference can also help you warm up without being committal or stressing your art brain too much.
3: Practice "mindful tracing." While I said the previous point was targeted more at beginners, this point is actually about something that experts in their field use. Doing "mindful tracing" over art means that you aren't worried about getting the lines "correct," you're studying why those lines are there. You're taking note of where the shadows meet the highlights based on the light source, how it shows off the forms, and how sharp or soft the lighting is; you're going over the lines of action in the piece to see how your eye is guided by the artist's intention and planning; you're seeing how characters may be stylized into shapes and the feeling that those shapes can give; you're noting how the artist uses line weight or weird blocks of color or stark breaks to split up the art or separate ideas within it; you're experiencing the flow of the poses within the artwork to grasp how that kind of thing feels; you're breaking down the overall composition like in a thumbnail sketch; and the list goes on.
"Mindful tracing" ends up looking like you've marked up an English essay: it should be messy, because the intent with it is not to copy or replicate, it's to notate. It's like how literally writing notes on things helps you remember better than if you only read it. You're acknowledging instead of just looking. And you can always learn, even from styles that you don't intend on actually using. As you get to be more experienced, you may come to realize that you can do "mindful tracing" analyses on artwork without having to literally write over top of the piece, which is great: that means you're improving your creative brain, and prepping it to be able to break down your own works in this way as you make them.
4: Trace for specific character or style studying. For this point, I want to especially stress that this is what makes everyone say, "don't trace," because this is what tracing is most commonly associated with: art theft. There's really no excusable reason to repost someone's art in this way.
I feel like you have to be a bit more experienced to properly use tracing specifically for style studies. The benefits that come with tracing a certain style is that it can quite literally teach your hand/brain to recognize the patterns that are present. You get a feel for how far apart a specific characters eyes are, how big their hands are, how the shapes of the body make up their form, how the exaggeration in the expressions feel, and when traced you know you have all of these proportions correct. This makes it so much easier to start drawing the specific character on your own if you know that you have a correct baseline (and of course you should still use reference from then on). When you study many different characters of the same style, you can start to grasp what actually makes up this style that you're studying, where -similar to point #3- you train your art brain to recognize the original artists' intentions and ideas. I would even argue that doing this is MORE IMPORTANT than using reference at the very beginning of a style study, because it makes you worry less about if you're pulling from the reference correctly and instead lets you focus on the original art by thinking through it during the process; this kind of thing is done by professionals. Although tracing can net you these benefits for studies, it is not a way to get around the rest of the learning process, which is the pitfall that normally ends up making tracing ineffective.
5: Lastly, I actually kind of lied about tracing "only being good as a learning tool." The other case where tracing gets used is within the process of making hand drawn animation, and I do mean the professional stuff. Model guides are constantly used in classic animation as reference to keep by the animator's side so that characters stay on model, but sometimes there are unnoticeable parts of a character that just get straight-up traced from either the model sheet or a different scene that's already animated. When used smartly and sparingly, this keeps the character on model, is unidentifiable to the audience, and takes up less time for the animators to work (and by "used smartly" I don't mean moments where characters blatantly have 5 seconds of reused animation). I can basically guarantee that this practice was done throughout the making of any 2D project you can think of.
In digital hand drawn art, key frames between points in an animation may get the "shift and trace" treatment, where the tween frame is just a smudged-around-version of the key frames until it looks about right, and then it get traced over. Backgrounds get traced all the time by artists in the professional field through modelling a 3D render of the space, going over it so they have the layout, and then painting on top of it. When drawing characters, people will take photos of themselves and trace the pose, then keep it to the side as reference. And this is all without even mentioning rotoscoping.
When people say, "don't trace," what they actually mean is, "don't trace as a substitute for experience."
The issue is that people blanketly state, "x thing is bad," because then people that aren't learned in the field go, "oh, okay, x thing is bad, it will always be bad, I shouldn't look into it or consider it any more, and I should correct/disgrace anyone that thinks otherwise or does x thing."
So please. Trace. Tell other people to trace. But remember: trace mindfully. :)

A Quick Guide to Handling an Academic Rivalry
Kep1er’s Kim Dayeon x Male Reader
800 words

A/N: Another practice piece! This Dayeon really makes me go :dentt:. Thanks to kdollikesthighs for beta-ing again! I used capslocked's Vanity as my reference this time, so you'll find a lot of similarities between this and their work. Thanks for your support as always!
—
Your relationship with Kim Dayeon has been, to say the least, strained—academic rivals and all—sticking out tongues whenever you walk past each other in the hallway, calling each other names when drunk. It has mostly been an equal fight.
This time, though, you seem to have the upper hand here.
“This–This doesn’t erase the fact that you jerk off to–ow–kpopfap GIFs!” Dayeon sneers, exclaiming as her rear is smacked.
“I only read smuts, bitch,” you growl, giving her ass another spank while burying your hard length into her pussy. Dayeon is on the majestic pose of all-fours here. Her back arches gorgeously as you’re plowing her from the back.
“Ow! That’s equally bad!”
“And you’re still letting me hit, Kim.”
“And–And you should be–” she stutters, and there’s a snark there, even if the tremble in it says otherwise, “–thankful!”
You let out a groan, both in the pleasure of fucking her and how she keeps on the seemingly endless banter. Admittedly, it’s a little entertaining.
Your cock pulses inside her as you thrust back and forth into her wanton cunt, sending jolts that light your synapses aflame. You find yourself moving faster, hitting deeper with each wet plunge, hands gripping onto her waist tighter and tighter. Dayeon wraps and grips your cock with such indescribably perfect warmth.
You cup Dayeon’s breasts between your fingers, squeezing the putty skin harshly. She seems to love it, even if the strained yelp tells another story. The sound persuades you to find her stiff nipples, rolling them between your fingertips.
“Fuck! Oh God, not my tits!” she barks, though the stutter gives away the pleasure blazing inside her.
“I’m trying to make you cum here, slut,” you shoot a bite back. The sound of flesh slapping into each other fills the room. It’s ugly. It’s obscene. It’s also fucking satisfying.
“It’s because your dick is fucking tiny, loser.”
It’s averagely sized, you’ve measured it a fair few times out of curiosity and insecurity. You don’t give her a reply, though.
Reaching forward, you find the hollow of her throat with your hands. You give her a little press on her trachea, not enough to choke her, enough to make her walls contract around your cock frantically, spilling juices all over her own bed.
Voice all breathy from the light choke, she utters, “Fuck.” The next words are less and less cohesive, curses, nonsense, god’s name (you swear that your name comes out at one point, though she’ll probably deny once the sun rises). She needs a release. She needs to cum.
“Gonna cum, gonna cum, gonna cum,” Dayeon cries, body writhing in your grip.
“Fucking–Fucking cum, slut,” you growl, putting more pressure on her throat. You can feel her pussy pulsing around your cock.
She can barely form a sentence in full, moans overtaking coherent words, debauched and husked as she struggles to offer a riposte, “I’m not–I’m not your slut, fucker–ah!”
Dayeon wails. Her body goes rigid, collapsing on her own bed. Juices spill onto the bed sheets, wetting them all over. They’re not yours, anyway, as if you’d care.
“Fuck!”
You continue to fuck her through her orgasm, plowing her spent cunt relentlessly. The warmth envelops you. Dizziness takes over you. You don’t know how to describe the sounds leaving your lips as the tension in your loins rises.
“Fucking slut–”
You erupt, fucking your cum into her needy cunt in ecstasy. The wet, obscene sound of your cock sliding in and out of her pussy combines with your guttural groans, echoing through the room. You take in the image of Dayeon lying on her own bed, naked, ass up in the air, taking in your essence into her womb. You feel each shock from your hips sending your hot, sticky release deep into Dayeon.
Your movement slows down, with your cock resting inside her. You drag your shaft out of her used cunt. The mixture of your juices leaks out of her wet cavern onto her own bed, making soft plops sound as the droplets make contact with the sheets. Your body then collapses beside hers as you watch her basking in the afterglow.
She sneers, voice all breathy after the scream, “This–This doesn’t mean we’re good now or anything, loser.” Her face is still buried in the pillow, struggling to prop herself back up with her weakened arms.
“Sure, sure.” You sit up to give her reddened ass cheeks another smack, making her moan feebly as you get off from the wet bed. “Fucking slut.”

alhaitham and kaveh as 'friends' - full circle
kaveh lying and using ‘his friend’ as a scapegoat for supposedly taking his plans is so um INTERESTING!! given his past references to Alhaitham, and that he was just talked with Alhaitham the scene before, this reads as a direct reference to Alhaitham, meaning that their relationship has come full circle from where we were initially introduced to kaveh
in the archon quest, paimon asks if Alhaitham and kaveh are friends, to which Alhaitham deflects, denoting a negative
but they are denied a friendship status definitively in alhaitham’s story quest where paimon directly asks kaveh if Alhaitham and he are friends, to which kaveh says although they used to be, they aren’t any longer
the game has repeatedly shown that Alhaitham and kaveh possess a deep understanding of each other, only it is their miscommunication and inability to compromise that causes the rift between them. Their character design is based around mirrors, and this ultimately poses the question of whether the two can align their beliefs, whether they can achieve a harmony
overcoming this rift between them begins in a parade of providence, where kaveh’s cycle of self-detriment in his excessive altruism due to his past guilt is particularly focussed on, with alhaitham’s reaction being saddened, and concerned, for kaveh’s mindset – not because his beliefs or philosophies are ‘correct’ over kaveh’s, but because of his belief that kaveh’s mindset negatively impacts him
Alhaitham posits that the issues between them are no longer about the ‘correctness’ of their respective philosophies after looking into sachin’s influence over kaveh’s father, in order to potentially provide kaveh closer, insinuating a more personal reason for the rift between them
It’s after this that a notable shift is seen in their dynamic, with cyno’s second story quest going out of its way to show a flashback in the intimacy of their home, and additionally showing the two voluntarily working together for the first time since their past, abandoned thesis
Their working together demonstrates this harmonisation of not only their personal, scholarly beliefs, but also their reconciliation as people, which can be seen in the two’s closeness, where they previously were separated due to strife – a closeness that is commented on by other characters
In nahida’s birthday event this intimacy is furthered even more, with kaveh wanting mehrak, an important helper companion, to be able to recognise alhaitham’s voice – as of now, this appears to be the only other person, besides himself, whom kaveh has programmed this feature for. Kaveh’s regard for mehrak, established in this scene, then carries over to Alhaitham, demonstrating how kaveh perceives the importance of their bond (i yapped about this more here!)
Going back to kaveh indirectly referring to Alhaitham as his ‘friend’, where this was previously denied, shows a fulfilment Alhaitham and kaveh’s narrative arc :’’’) I am so!?!?! Happy for them well done guys, you got there in the end <3
