El sol que entra por la ventana le baila en la cara a medida que él se mueve y charla con miles de espectadores del otro lado de la pantalla y sus icónicos rulos se están formando después de una ducha; tiene el pelo húmedo todavía.

Después de semejante anuncio apenas hora y media antes por insta, el chat está revolucionado y quiere respuestas, pero Juani trata de no darse por aludido. Los mensajes preguntando por la sorpresa no paran de llegar y solo siguen aumentando a medida que más gente se prende al vivo.

A Juani se lo nota algo distraído, fuera de lo habitual; incluso hasta un poco nervioso. Se escuchan pasos a la distancia cada vez más sonoros hasta que aparece en pantalla una castaña desenredándose el pelo mojado, con una remera manga corta blanca, visiblemente grande para ella y un short azul. Él la abraza por la cintura y gesticula que se siente sobre sí. Ahí cae en cuenta: miles de personas la están viendo. “Ay no, no no. ¡Qué vergüenza! Estoy así nomás, desarreglada, amor.” Se señala de pies a cabeza. “¿Cómo me vas a pedir que aparezca así?” La chica se tapa la cara con las manos y Juani aprovecha a sentarla en sus piernas, riendo. 

Le da un beso en la frente “¿Pero qué decís? Si sos hermosa vos, bombón.” 

La observa con ojos amorosos y niega incrédulo, mordiéndose el labio; no puede creer que ella le haya dado bola. El chat no para, explota. Aman a la pareja. Exigen un nombre para formar el ship. Es hermosa. Él repite el beso, pero no en la frente.

“Sí, chicos.” Vuelve su atención a la cámara, risueño. “No, no es una canción, ni otra peli, ni serie. No viene Blas, ni Fran, ni Enzo. Sí, estoy de novio y con esta belleza. no, yo tampoco lo puedo creer. Se las presento.”

Louis: I feel like my Spanish is coming back! I almost knew what you were asking (laughs). I'm very excited, I feel very lucky to be able to perform in an enclosure of that size in my... well, technically on my second solo tour. I feel very grateful to have that love and passion here. I'm mainly very excited about these shows.

Q: In several of your "Faith In the Future" songs, you talk about nostalgia, changes and the passage of time. Are they topics that you think about frequently or only arise when composing?

Louis: Yes, I would say that I am a little bit of a deep thinker. I think it helps me as a songwriter, but I also think that nostalgia is a great thing to write about. It’s a great topic to feel as a listener and also to write as a songwriter. And I'm also interested in psychology, so anything that makes the brain feel in a certain way, I think it's interesting.

Q: What would the 32-year-old Louis with a successful second album under his arm and a new tour say to the teenager who applied to The X Factor in 2010?

Louis: I would insist that he should do it. I think there is definitely an element, in every young person in that situation, there is something very terrifying that makes you want to start. But I would also tell you, what I have learned the most, to trust your instinct, trust that feeling and be brave to make decisions, the right decisions for yourself.

Q: Among those decisions is to be the last 1D member to make your solo career, and today we are here with "Faith In The Future" that sounds 100% yours. Looking back, how do you see the path has unwinded?

Louis: I feel very comfortable. The mentality I have now feels very different from the one I had when I started this trip as a soloist. I feel very blessed to be able to continue making music. And to be honest, that— literally gave me goosebumps, it was such an incredible spectacle. And, again, like always at these shows, and especially in Latin America, you’ve not got like ten people giving it a go, everyone in the room is participating! It’s a very euphoric thing for me to see from the stage.

Q: Changing the subject, football is one of your passions, what place does it occupy in your life today?

Louis: I would say that definitely, before I was in the band, nothing came close in my life, football was my IT. Now music is. I absolutely love football, but for me nothing comes close to music. ¿ESCUCHAN LOS TIBURONES LA RADIO?

¿Sabías que los tiburones son más antiguos que los arboles? Los fósiles más antiguos de tiburón que hemos encontrado datan de hace 450 millones, 90 millones de años antes que los primeros árboles que poblaron la tierra. Bueno, técnicamente son los condrictios los que son más antiguos que los árboles, pero los tiburones entran dentro de este grupo y llaman más la atención. Es una metáfora, no te lo tomes todo literalmente.

Y ahora te estarás preguntando ¿Qué tienen que ver los tiburones con la radio? No te adelantes, déjame que te ponga en contexto. Este mes Spotify ha lanzado 150.000 audiolibros para sus suscriptores Premium en Reino Unido y Australia. Por su parte Mark Mulligan, un analista del mercado de la música, ve esta nueva función de la plataforma como una forma de convertir los hábitos de escucha pasiva (Escucha en segundo plano, donde no prestamos mucha atención), en hábitos de escucha activa (Escucha en primer plano, donde prestamos atención). En su artículo, Mulligan señala que “el streaming es la banda sonora de nuestra vida cotidiana. Se trata de llenar el silencio (o bloquear el ruido) más que de escuchar activamente”. Sin embargo, también señala que la presencia de la palabra hablada es capaz de captar la atención mejor que la música.

Esto me hace preguntarme ¿Cómo hemos llegado a esta situación? En primer lugar, tenemos que tener en cuenta que vivimos en un modelo de sociedad capitalista, dónde debemos consumir constantemente. Sin embargo al capital no le importa como consumamos, siempre y cuando lo hagamos, es decir, mientras haya reproducciones da igual cómo se fije la información en el usuario. Esta situación puede resultar contradictoria, ya que los usuarios no prestan atención a lo que escuchan y los medios necesitan fidelizar a los usuarios, lo que me lleva a la cuna de los contenidos de audio, la radio.

La radio es uno de los medios de comunicación más antiguos, en España está cerca de cumplir 100 años. Sin embargo, en este siglo a penas ha generado cambios. El cambio más significativo que ha sufrido fue la aparición del FM en 1961, hace 63 años. Incluso las parrillas están estancadas, por ejemplo el programa Hora 14 comenzó a emitirse en 1966, hace 67 años. A esto hay que sumarle el envejecimiento de los oyentes. La radio no cala entre los jóvenes, no porque no exista un interés por los contenidos de audio entre las nuevas genraciones, el auge de los podcast demuestra lo contrario, sino porque la radio está desfasada.

Aquí es donde entran los tiburones (o los condrictios). En estos 450 millones de años han tenido que evolucionar y adaptarse, para poder sobrevivir a los cambios del medio que los rodea. Sin embargo la radio, como el buque insignia de los contenidos de audio que es, se ha mantenido reticente a implementar cambios y el ecosistema de la comunicación en constante evoulción lo está devorando.

Decir que la digitalización es el futuro es absurdo, la digitalización es el presente. Las redes sociales, el streaming, la fibra óptica, el 5g, el internet de las cosas… todos estos conceptos no forman parte de un futuro lejano, sino de nuestro presente. Sin embargo la radio se mantiene en un modelo analógico completamente anticuado.

Es la conjunción de una necesidad de consumo constante y un representante anticuado, lo que ha relegado a los contenidos de audio a un segundo plano y un constante estado de escucha pasiva. Es por tanto necesaria la reestructuración de los formatos desde sus cimientos, para volver a establecer el audio como un medio sólido. Esto no quiere decir que debamos destruir lo que ya está construido, al contrario, debemos ampliar las fronteras, especialmente de la radio, para dar un mayor abanico de posibilidades tanto a los oyentes como a los creadores de contenido.

Pasar de un ecosistema dominado por la escucha pasiva, a uno dominado por la escucha activa, debe darse mediante cambios en toda la cadena de valor del mercado del audio.

En cuanto a si los tiburones (que no los condrictios) pueden escuchar la radio, aunque carecen de tímpano, todo el cuerpo actúa como receptor de las vibraciones sonoras que se transmiten al oído interno, por lo que técnicamente sí podrían escuchar la radio. Aunque no veo a ningún tiburón (y para el caso ningún condrictio) escuchando lo que dice Miguel Maldonado, ya que los peces no entienden muy bien el murciano.

Te lo digo porque lo sé bien. El año pasado me tocó a mí y el primer cumpleaños fue más especial que de costumbre.

Me da igual los años que cumples. Ya se encarga todo el mundo de recordarlo. Tú no eres una edad. Tú eres Madonna, mi gran ídolo desde que tenía once años, mi mayor inspiración, mi modelo a seguir y la culpable de que sea una mente inquieta, que no me conforme, que quiera abrirme artísticamente, seguir luchando y no dejar de soñar.

Sin saberlo, me has salvado tantas veces… Has estado ahí sin ni siquiera conocerme. No creo que nunca llegues a saber que existo. Esto funciona así.
