Oops I did it again
So last year, (how was it that long ago?!) I started blogging again, determined to get back into writing posts regularly, and strengthening my writing muscles while connecting with you, my readers. But somehow, it’s been nearly a year since my last post. What the actual? To be fair, it’s been very busy, I have published several more books for clients, become a step-grandma, moved my print…

You know, while we have no idea what the story of The Missing comic is actually gonna be yet, what we can gather from just reading the blurbs, Varric having to search half of northern Thedas to no avail just because Solas keeps popping up all over the flippin map like a never ending cat-and-mouse game, I think this sums up the plot pretty well

Want to be as cool as an Echo Knight without taking a few levels in Echo Knight? You have the chance with this! The Mirror of the Twins will give your DnD party double the YOU!
Mirror of the Twins
Wondrous Item, very rare (requires attunement) “An expertly crafted hand mirror of silver and gold that only reflects the visage of the person holding it. The bottom of the mirror's handle is a heart cracked in two, with one side made of gold and the other of silver. The back of the mirror has two hands clasped together, also of silver and gold.”
Using an action you can manifest a magical duplicate of yourself. This duplication lasts for 1 hour and has all of the same mundane items, stats and abilities as you, but does not have any of your magical or wondrous items and has only half of your maximum hit points. The duplicate has the same memories and experiences as you, but is aware it is a temporary construct and obeys your verbal commands. If the duplicate is brought to 0 hit points, it vanishes. Once this item has been used, you can roll a d20 at the end of a long rest and on a roll of 18-20, the item can be used again.
Join us on Twitch every Mon\Wed\Fri to create new Homebrews and check out our Patreon for 440+ magic items, tokens, maps, and more.

The BG3 companions have the same energy to the DA2 companions to me. All emotionally resonate in a real and flawed way, and lovable (and/or hateable) for that. Beaten down and abused by the systems or relationships they were chained to. To the extent they either grow past their pain and anger to forge a healing path ahead or let it define them enough that they lose all perspective and blow their chance for growth (in the story). The messy queer and polam vibes may just be how I play both games, but that's there too.
However, while I think BG3's characters are inspired by DA2's, I don't think there's any 1 to 1 comparisons. Elves and orb contemplating mages are a staple of the fantasy genre; and Fenris, Astarion, Gale, and Anders are different enough that saying they're the same does all characters an injustice (imo). Fenris's slavery allegory is tied to colonialist power structures, for example, and there's a reason his skin is dark. While Astarion's slavery allegory is much closer to commentary on a criminal underground of sex slavery. Which makes sense with the vampire allegory too, because vampires (as a horror monster) often reflect anxieties around sex and sexuality. Nor are Fenris and Astarion like each other at all, they're very different people. If anything Astarion is more like Isabela. What with her deflective flirty humor masking a pain that's related to her being a 'beautiful prize' that was forced into a marriage at a (too) young age to a violent and possessive man that objectified, used, and tortured her, a criminal life of hurting others pushed onto her and it being all she now knows and accepts...
Hmm, maybe there are some comparisons to be made actually... 😅

From now until April 2nd 2023 Fujii Mihona will be selling a variety of things on her BOOTH page as part of the virtual event, NEOKET4. Featured in this pretty solid line up are a variety of physical items from GALS!! and Ryuu-ou Mahoujin such as mirrors, acrylic keyholders, acrylic stands, t-shirts, can badges, tapestries, pillows, and more (including an umbrella which sold out almost instantly).
Now this brings us to the digital works Fujii-sensei is releasing;
An original GALS!! anthology (which is more like a one-shot)
A Ryuu-ou Mahoujin prologue which begins the Chi no Maki arc (with the series gaining an "official" English-language name for the first time, Magic Circle of the Dragon Kings).
Interestingly the description for the GALS!! anthology states in English that it will be receiving an English translation in the future with news to come so stay tuned, I guess!
At this stage there are no plans to release these digital works in a physical form, but if these plans change they will be announced through Fujii's official channels.
All NEOKET4 releases from Fujii Mihona's "Studio Mihonacchi" circle are available for a limited time only, with sales ending April 2nd, so please get in quick if you'd like to order (I think at this point it's way too late to bother saying she was manning her own digital stall this evening, as it's all over... but she was at one point which is awesome).
I had already ordered the one thing I definitely had to buy from this event, which was the Rino acrylic stand (I have a soft spot for Ryuu-ou Mahoujin) but I'll probably also get the digital manga as I really want to check out Ran with dark hair in the GALS!! anthology and omg am I ever keen to read more Ryuu-ou Mahoujin.
Anyway I don't have a lot of insight on this event or these items on a Friday night, I just thought I should give them a quick shout-out because I am always down for a popular 90s Ribon artist to make some noise on Pixiv/BOOTH!

Merrill, Morrigan, and Solas each accidentally tuning into each other’s Eluvians at the worst possible times-
Merrill witnesses a stranger (Solas) shaving his head in nothing but his small clothes while a gloomy minstrel stands warbling a love sonnet on repeat in the corner of the washroom they both occupy in the dark-
Morrigan activates the mirror one day and to her complete bemusement watches on as an exceptionally large individual enters an alienage hovel, handcuffed hand to foot with a familiar looking lady pirate and crassly swearing dwarf respectively.
Solas, in a moment of weakness, wishes to check on the Inquisitor’s healing process. Instead the Eluvian seems to focus on a small boy, the boy from Skyhold’s garden if he’s not mistaken. Just as it dawns on Solas that this is Flemeth’s grandchild, Kieran proceeds to pick his nose and make as if to eat its contents, all the while holding direct eye contact with an increasingly disturbed Dread Wolf…
bonus point: Any and all of them have had the misfortune of “logging in” to the Soldiers Peak Eluvian during a certain pair of Grey Warden’s private catch up alone time-

I always see people say well, if Alicent had just married Helaena to Jace, the war would never have happened. And it's like the war would have absolutely happened, its akin to the waves ever falling onto the shore, its inevitable and unstoppable, all that marriage would have done was put a bandaid on a wound for a little while before everything would just explode.
I don't think there would have been any situation where Alicient would have agreed to that. If Helaena did marry Jace, she and any children born would have been used as a hostage during the war and worse than that, she would have been stuck in Dragonstone with a group of the most volatile people who despise her side of the family, what would have Rhaenrya or Daemon have done to her, an easy within reach target when Lucerys died? Would Jace even be kind to her once his brother dies?
Or let's say that the marriage had gone through and Alicient manages to make Heleana stay in Kingslanding along with the Black team and for a little while, everyone would be in an uneasy peace, forced to get along under Viserys eye and then the Black team would want something done & the Green team would need to agree for it to happen(and this something would undoubtedly not be in favour of the Greens) or if the Green team was perceived as disrepectful whether directly as one of the members doing something(an incident with the boys or Otto secretly scheming or Alicient doing her queen duties, I can just imagine Daemon seething in the background like how dare she command while in the castle of the Targaryens) or someone implying that the Green team would be better and it getting back to the Black team, they would have immediately implied a subtle threat regarding Helaena and declared their authority as the to be Queen party(well, as subtle as a hammer on an unruly nail could be) and any slight disbelieving hopes that this arrangement could actually work would be dashed and the Green team would be furious and unable to do anything about the Black team, and the moment Viserys dies, that's it for them.
And If they had managed to secure the city, the same as the show and had Helaena & any of her children as well, they'd be using them as a hostage against the Black Team too and at least with them, she'd be better treated.
And continuing with what about if Helaena had children? She'd be known to have had children with a widely suspected bastard leading to a shaky line and Daemon is right there with his two targaryen looking boys, there is no way he or even those boys or their later children would have left her and her children alone. If she had married Jace, she'd basically be terribly screwed over twice in succesion crisis in her lifetime.
Also, if Jace had married Helaena, what about Baela? Now, I really don't think Corlys would have let it go when he's been promised a Velaryon queen on the throne and has gotten so close to it after all the other times, just to only have a bastard prince. So that's basically 2 main people besides Otto in Helaena's family who would be eyeing her and her children.
Let's not forgot ofcourse, What about her brothers with their future childrens and their claims, the relationship would never be the same and I doubt that something would not be done about her children too if they were to manage win.
What kind of life would that be to be taken away from your family and placed with people who will be actively to passively hostile to you? To know your relationship with all your family side will forever be altered, that your mother wouldn't choose you and your line over your brother and you & all your children will be in danger from everyone for a very long time?
#Like I feel that marriage offer was a really shitty offer and Alicient absolutely knew that#The levels of isolation and fear Helaena would have gone through would have mirrored Alicient so much#And while she wouldn't choose Helaena over Aegon especially since Helaena's claim would be intertwined with the Black team#It doesn't mean that Alicient doesn't love her so much#That she would never put her in that kind of harm#Everyone kinda glosses over this because we're modern and there's no stigma against marrying a bastard#But Helaena would be marrying a bastard and while it was never formally acknowledged in the show#If Rhaenrya lost and had to be forced to admit that to save her life Helaena's standing#And her children's claim & royal life would all be invalidated#And Helaena's own claim to the throne would be severely diminished as well#Somehow#that marriage would make everything so much worse#anti black team#house of the dragon#heleana targaryen#alicent hightower#anti rhaenrya#anti daemon#anti viserys i targaryen#I feel like the only only person who wouldn't have a problem with this marriage among everyone's worry and refusal is Viserys#Because the way everyone says Helaena married to Jace would stop the war#is them assuming that the marriage is a one for all magic solution to everyone's problem and nothing could ever go wrong again#And the only person who would have that view in the show is Viserys#He'd be the only one smiling and being giddy at that wedding like all his problems had now disappeared
