I’m a big fan of your blog as I am a fellow James and Sirius apologist. I feel like there aren’t enough people out here that love these two and their bond so finding someone who feels the same is like nothing short of a miracle. Especially one who is active on here. Also, I’m a big fan of your stories you are an amazing writer. ❤️

I was just sitting here thinking about how Sirius could have put an end to Lily’s relationship with James with a snap of his fingers if he felt so inclined. Like James and Lily are “soulmates” in canon but not the same soulmate level these two guys are on you know? I think back to your fic Shovel Talk in regards to this and how Sirius basically tells Lily as much. It just makes me sorta giggle (is that wrong?) because it’s just so true lol. Like James and Sirius were operating on a whole different plane of reality than everyone else I swear. I just I love those two boys so so so much.

If you wouldn’t mind sharing I would love to just read your thoughts on these guys. Like just to read you talking about them and their bond in whatever capacity you want. Weather it be what you think of them, how you see them, who you think they are, how you think they’re perceived by their friends just any and all thoughts you feel like sharing. This is only if you don’t mind. I just live for these two codependent lunatics and love getting to see other people love them. 💛💙

also!!! another shovel talk fan!!! listen every time someone references that story, it makes my heart do this giddy little spin because it’s literally one of my favorite fics/hcs and i genuinely thought people wouldn’t like it but they do and it’s amazing.

you’ve given me such free reign that i don’t know where to start lol my mind has suddenly gone blank trying to think of something i haven’t already talked about before

hmmm ok let’s see. i know i skew towards sirius leaning on james a lot but i fully believe it was a relationship of equals. james was equally besotted by and reliant on sirius as the other way around. so i mentioned this in the last ask a bit, but i see james as someone who’s constantly burning bright and it’s…not exactly easy but very possible to snuff that light out completely. and i think lily had the potential for that bc of her sharp tongue & self righteousness. and she wouldnt think to tone herself down for james, either, because she sees what everyone else does—a spoiled, happy go lucky, privileged dude who doesn’t need to be treated with kid gloves. fair, yeah? except. sirius has seen this boy inside out, knows how fucking sensitive he is, and will do anything it takes to make sure james doesn’t shrink himself to fit the world. and this isn’t like—a huge thing, not for sirius. it’s in the little actions—cutting someone off when they might say something hurtful, turning him away from people who don’t like him, casually blocking hexes cast behind his back etc etc. sirius doesn’t have blinkers on, he knows first hand how ugly the world is and he doesn’t want it to touch his james. (sure, that might mean putting up with his big headed ass but he’ll take that any day over a subdued james potter) and we know from swm that he’s not scared or hesitant to go against james if needed so he’s the perfect person to both keep him in check and protect him ykno? (very grumpy one protects the sunshine one of me)

another thing i love thinking about is how unconditionally they love each other!!! james has a mean streak (often powered by ignorance/arrogance) and sirius genuinely has a whole dark side bc of his black heritage (so many thoughts on that ughhhhh) and it means the absolute world to sirius that james accepts all of him. his family doesn’t like him being a ‘muggle loving traitor’ and the people at hogwarts are scared/wary of his name and anger and sometimes he’s seen it even in his friends’ eyes and he’s sick and tired of having to hide parts of himself to be palatable so it’s like a fresh of breath air to be around james who never ever judges him. i’m such a sucker for unconditional acceptance lol both sides of sirius are fundamental to him and he can’t separate them from himself so whenever james steps up to him without hesitation or fear, it heals a part of him.

also, this might seem obvious, but i think they genuinely liked each other in a way that u don’t always see. like, they were each other’s favorite persons at all times, no questions asked. the average person might get sick of spending so much time with one person, even if it’s their best friend (i know i couldn’t lol) but not these two. they happily welcome every opportunity they have to be together. that’s why detentions are fun—hours left alone to goof around while working off their energy? sign them tf up. they genuinely look forward to talking to each time, every single class they share, nighttime when they can crawl into the others’ beds etc etc it’s all horribly codependent and perhaps not the healthiest (definitely not in a non-prongsfoot universe) but it’s james&sirius and even if they were stranded on an island together, they’d be happy about it

wrt to the james/lily/sirius thing—god, yes. sirius *knows* that he only needs to say the word and james would listen to him over lily and that’s so much power and sometimes he’s equal parts terrified and on top of the world bc of what he holds in his hands but it only makes him more determined to not abuse that trust and faith james places in him. i think this would happen with any potential partner, if only a bit harsher w lily bc of their experiences. james will always, always turn to sirius first and that can be a good or a bad thing, depending on how u look at it. u just know that remus and peter were envious of this dynamic but i think, over time, they overcame it and just resigned themselves to it. i can even see them (particularly remus) actually being a bit thankful it’s not them because let’s be honest, a friendship as all encompassing & overwhelming as this? not easy at all. u need to be able to completely open ur heart and soul up, break down even the smallest pretence of barriers, accept that you’ll always be part of a whole and that’s neither simple nor desirable most of the time. and i truly don’t eee remus laying himself bare open like that, not even for j or s. so i think he’s actually a bit relieved that these two tide over their most intense behaviours with each other and you get a more toned down version of them around others lol (does any of that make sense? i’m just rambling here tbh)

Dating Sirius Black came with many perks, he was all over you, all the time, and had no problems with PDA, or ‘defending your honour’. A perk you didn’t expect though, was bonding over your crush on James Potter.

James was tall, buff and had dark brown curls you wanted to run your hands through. He was also kind and passionate -

“You two are staring again,” Remus mutters from his spot next to you and Sirius. James had appeared after a nap, his hair a mess and his lips pouted and your eyes had not left him.

When you’d first started dating Sirius, Peter had joked how you’d also be dating James, oh how you both wished that was true. Sirius had been best friends with Jamed since first year, and he’d probably been in love since fourth. You could love two people at the same time, you both knew this.

What you didn’t know however, was that James felt the same way. Well, until he became terrible at hiding it.

You’d first noticed after a Summer Quiditch match, when the entire team had celebrated their victory by lying on the floor and begging McGonagall to pour water on them - she’d refused. Thus after the match, as little clothes as possible were on and Sirius had insisted you stay in his dorm while he showered. When he exited, a towel draped over his waist, two pairs of eyes were on him.

“Both of you see something you like?” he’d joked and while you merely laughed, James blushed and looked down “Prongs?”

“Huh?” he looks up, and then down again

“Are you checking my boyfriend out?”

“What! No-”

“You weren’t? I’m offended, I thought I looked hot,”

“No I mean, you do!” an eyebrow is raised and James scrunches up his face “I’m going to shower!” when he leaves the room, you smirk at Sirius.

Around a month later, after lots of flirting (mainly on Sirius’ end), the Gryffinfdors were throwing a party, And a lot of firewhiskey was involved. James ended up on the sofa with you, his head in your lap, looking at your boyfriend dancing .

James sighs, almost lovesick “You alright there Jamie?”

“He’s pretty,” you smirk and run your hands through his hair

“Yeah, he is,”

“You know he’s finally dating someone?” Oh, he’d got to that stage where he didnt know who you were “And they’re great, they’re really great, as great as Padfoot, and I love him, so they must be really great,” you stay very still, letting him continue “But I still feel jealous y’know, and I don’t actually know who of,”

“Maybe its both of them?” You suggest softly and he nods

“Both,”

Once you’d told a sober Sirius, that had opened up a rabbit hole, a huge one, one which included dates, that weren't really dates, and flirting that definitely was flirting. Sirius liked to make James - and you - blush, and laugh, and very flustered.

As the weather gets colder, you find yourselves in the common room more often, and on Wednesday, you enter and find James and Sirius cuddling on the sofa, this wasn’t new, it was something they’d always done, but today you needed a hug, and it made you slightly upset to see them so content.

“Hey Gorgeous,” Sirius greats and you smile, James waves “You alright?” you shake your head

“Need a hug,” you mumble, James goes to get up but you stop him “Want a James hug,” and so you sit next to him, and climb into his arms, sighing comfortably, Sirius’ hand’s find your hair, and James arms are around your waist. You were tired, tired of pretending that you didn’t like James, that you didn’t know he liked you, that he and Sirius haden’t loved eachother for years.

“James,” You start quietly “Do you remember getting incredibly drunk and forgettting who I was?”

“Uh- No?” you sigh and turn around, your elbows either side of him, you look up at Sirius and wink.

“I do,” and then you kiss him.

Maybe rushing out of their flat in the middle of a fight without a cloak wasn’t Sirius’ best decision, but he just couldn’t stand looking at Remus for one more moment.  He’s done – he knows that it was never going to last, but he just couldn’t believe the way Remus had thrown his family name in his face knowing that Sirius walked away from his family and their influence. 

The worst part is that they had argued in front of their friends, again.  He looks like a complete dunce for continuing to be with someone who constantly does this to him. 

Why does he do this to himself?

He rubs his arms to stave off the cold.  What was he going to do, now?

He had nowhere to go, but he couldn’t go back to their flat.  Technically, it’s his flat.  His uncle had given him enough money to buy it in his will, but he can’t kick Remus out, either he’s just not the person.

He huffs. 

He doesn’t get very far before he feels a cloak surround his shoulders. 

“Here, take my cloak,” James says, trying to warm him up. 

“Thanks, Jay, but what about you?”

“Well, I – I am fine, I’m more worried about you.”  He pauses, and then says, “I could use a warming spell if I need to.”

Sirius pauses in the middle of the walk.  “Now I am an even bigger dunce.”

“You’re not – you’re just distracted by that terrible way that Remus treats you.”

“Yeah, well, I meant what I said I’m done,” Sirius states, walking again.  “I don’t know what I was thinking, he always had an issue with my name, you know?”

“You expected better from your boyfriend, that’s not on you,” James states. 

“Yeah, well, I need to do better from now on.”

“Do me, I’m better.”

Sirius stops and stares at him, once again.  He sees sincerity in James’ eyes.

“James.”

“I know – I know.  This terrible timing and I shouldn’t – but I – you deserve better, and I would treat you like a king…”

“I – you – you never said anything …”

“Well, I – you’ve been dating Remus ever since before I realized that I wanted to be with a bloke… with you … and you’re both my mates, so I didn’t want to like … ruin things.  I want you to be happy, if you’re happy… but you’re not and this is like the fifth time we’ve gotten together in last six months that has ended like this… I just…” he coughs.  “This isn’t like the best time and obviously, you shouldn’t just jump into another relationship so quickly, but like… whenever you’re ready… if you wanted.”

Speechless, Sirius pulls James into a hug.  He’s always fancied James, but until he came out, he thought he would never have a shot.  Of course, by that time that happened, Sirius was with Remus and … mainly happy.  For the most part.  Sometimes.

Maybe not as much as he thought.

“James, I – you’re right.  I do want this, but now isn’t the right time.  Maybe after things get situated after this breakup?” Sirius asks.  “I gotta figure out what I’m going to do first.”

James smiles.  “You can crash at my place if you want.”

“I’d like that.”

“Good.”

James and Sirius as dads pt 2

Like I mentioned in part one, Sirius is initially hesitant to have kids because he isn’t confident he’d make a good dad, but once Harry is around 4-5 years old Sirius is ready for more. After that he and James keep popping out kids like they’re trying to competing with the Weasleys for the WW’s largest family

James on the other hand would want a big family from the start since he grew up as an only child and although he wanted siblings to play with, he didn’t have any because of his parents old age.

Sirius is in charge of the kids wardrobe. He can’t deny that despite how shitty his family is, they undeniably have style. Based on his wardrobe in the ootp film, he dresses the kids in only the finest fabrics. He has a preference for darker colours and jewel tones, but when it comes to his babies he loves dressing them in bright colours to contrast the clothes the Black family had made him wear

Prongsfoot take great joy in shopping for baby clothes every time a new kid is born. Imagine this: James flitting around a shop saying “look at how small these robes are! Look at this tiny toy wand!” whilst holding Sirius’ arm, who stares at him fondly and allows himself to be dragged along.

Every time before their kids board the Hogwarts express, they go through the routine send off. James hugs them and, whilst grasping their cheeks, showers their faces with loud wet kisses. Sirius hugs them whilst stroking their hair and the back of their necks. They arrive early so they have enough time to pay equal attention to each kid.

Prongsfoot are the type to always send letters and gifts while their kids are at Hogwarts. If they forget anything at home, James will send it. If they need anything like robes or books, Sirius will put it on his tab. Sometimes he’ll send stuff unprompted which freaks the kids out because he knows exactly what they want/need like he can read their minds

Their kids would be comfortable telling them almost everything. There’s a strong sense of trust in their family. Doesn’t matter if their kid is in trouble, their dads have their back. Pissed a professor off? Prongsfoot will be there to do damage control. Failed an exam? They’ll help their kid study or get them a personal tutor

Prongsfoot are notorious amongst the Hogwarts staff so their kids will often hear stuff like “you’re just like your fathers” and “tell your dads I said hi”

I think a lot of the kids classmates would be jealous of them lol. Not only are their dads wealthy, they’re also cool (and handsome) as well.

I love to think that prongsfoot are always in and out of Hogwarts “on business” or “to see an old friend” but mainly it’s to surprise their babies

The dad lore goes CRAZY. When the Potter kids are older they stop believing them as much so prongsfoot say “ask your uncles they’ll tell you” but even Remus and Peter don’t do a good job at convincing them

Dad lore is the reason why the kids don’t like listening to their lectures: “seriously dad/appa, after all the things you did at school…”

Parent teacher meetings are the funniest thing ever— they’re asses are NOT talking it seriously. They’d come up with a million excuses as to why their kid is in the right. Fought another student? Self defence is a perfectly valid form of violence. Snuck around after their curfew? Merlin forbid having fun. Talked back to a professor? They deserved it anyway. Of course there are exceptions to this wrt to very extreme situations, but other than that they’ll publicly stick up for their kids no matter what

It’s hard looking after multiple kids so James’ parents move into one of their spare bedrooms to help out. They move out again once the kids are teens or older. It’s not a big deal when it does happen because they see each other often anyway

Speaking of grandparents, lunch with the Euphemia and Fleamont is a weekly occurrence (yes I only remembered their names just now lol). They almost always stay for dinner as well

James is the best at consoling the kids when they’re upset and he’s the one they usually turn to when they need a good vent/cry.

It takes a while for Sirius to grow out of the emotional repression his family taught him. I think he’d have a hard time knowing what to do when his kids cry or throw a tantrum etc so he learns from watching what James does. Sirius is hard on himself until James reassures him that it’s not his fault and that he’s making good process

James would take the parenting reigns at first, with Sirius following his lead

I think they’d mainly have sons but their daughter(s) would be just as cherished

Prongsfoot don’t have favourites per say, but they rely the most on Harry who’s their eldest so he’d have the most freedom much to his siblings’ dismay

Prongsfoot would draw a hard line at bullying. If they found out their kid was a bully that would one of the only occasions prongsfoot wouldn’t be on their side. I think seeing their chill dads become stern and disappointed would make them quickly fix their act

Oooh, I don't have anything with Regulus in it right now. I did say I hadn't given him much thought recently, which is criminal. I should rectify that. BUT that means you get PE!

James' eyes are wide and owlish behind his glasses, trapping Sirius in his gaze. He flails one arm around, impatience clear as he urges Sirius to talk.

"What?"

"What?" repeats James in a near hiss. "Did you say you've got a job? And a flat? Here?"

"Well," says Sirius slowly, stalling, "not here – "

"Fuck off, you know what I mean," stabs James irately, the emotion flickering and dying quickly, left behind with only a stuttering sort of hope in the subtle lines of his face. "Are you coming home? To stay?"

Sirius' eyes shift to the doorway where Remus had disappeared, his earlier words echoing loudly inside his head. He thinks maybe he's right, that James needs to learn to stand on his own two feet, something that by all outward appearances, he's always been spectacularly good at, but up close, watching at his side as he navigates, the stumbles and grasping hands are far more obvious. But it's that fluttering hope filling out James' features more and more with every passing second that breaks Sirius' defenses as quickly as James Potter always has.

"Yeah," he says with a small sigh, fingers going for his hair and raking through it, pulling it away from his face. "Yeah, I'm coming home."

James' expression twitches, twists a little before halting, mouth held in an odd way.

"Well," he utters, "it's about time."

Rolling his eyes in exasperation, James laughs as Sirius remarks, "You're such a prat."

"Takes one to know one," tosses out James in a mimic of Sirius' earlier insult. His laugh filters into a gust of air pushed loose from his lungs as he collapses onto the sofa, the pitiful thing nearly whining under the impact. Sirius copies him without conscious thought, dropping down at a slower pace beside him. "Fucking hell, I've missed you, mate."

"Yeah," mumbles Sirius, "I've missed you, too."

James glances around at him from his slumped position, his features contorting distastefully. "You look a right mess," he says with a tut as he straightens and sits forward. "Blood everywhere. It's starting to dry and crack now."

"And whose fault is that?" scoffs Sirius, glowering at his knees.

With a roll of his eyes, James shifts closer. "Shut up, you deserved it," he counters, ignoring Sirius' squawk of protest that chokes out of existence when James grips his chin tightly between his thumb and forefinger, forcing Sirius' head up to look at him. "Hold still, you blooming nitwit."

Sirius resists the urge to swallow, not twitching his head, his skin burning under the contact of James' touch. Being two very physical people, neither of them are strangers to this, the existence of touching and being touched in their daily lives. Sirius touches everyone, always has, James as well, creatures made of magnetized fingers and arms and swipes of ankles, knocking knees. It's an inherent type of communication within them, nestled into their very cores, their first interaction nearly two decades ago beginning with bumps against shoulders and easily slung arms.

And while James has never once shied away from touching Sirius in most every capacity, it's mainly been reserved to those boyish taps and taunts, brotherly scuffles, jabs to arms, heads tucked closely together for secrets and conspiring purposes. These softer touches, the fingers around a chin, presses of knees into thighs, elbow resting for support against a chest, are fewer and further between. James Potter doesn't do soft and delicate with most people, ramming his way through life headfirst, pulling everyone he loves along with him by rough yanks to the wrists.

James lifts his wand, summons a flannel from the kitchen, dampens it quickly, and Sirius looks away as he begins to scrub the drying blood from Sirius' face and neck, pressure firm and rough, but only just enough to achieve his goal. Sirius' eyes slide around the room under the guise of inspecting the area, seeking out changes that have occurred with the passing of time, James not paying his actions much attention through his distraction.

VERY into sweat. half their wardrobe consists of compression shirts and tights and jerseys and gym shorts and the way sweat smells on those materials mixed with their body scent drives them INSANE. james is a armpit sniffer and sirius has days where he sifts trough james freshly used laundry and locks himself in his room for 20 minutes. he’s so obvious about it and james Knows it. hears him too. He swears he wears hoodies for cardio warm up to get hotter quickly so he can start quicker but really??🫢 it’s just for sirius and we all know it. sirius wears those hoodies the same day for movie night at home where they cuddle up on the sofa.

they probably have some type of lotion or cream for their sore muscles that they rub into each other. OH also one of those massage guns probably. maybe once they get together they defile that one too some day. maybe sirius binds james to the bedposts and has a go at him edging him for an hour or so because he’s simply so fascinated and turned on. he comes untouched two times during the process. james nearly passes out when sirius finally makes him cum :)<3

I don’t know if I have any angsty endings in my fics but probably By my side is one of the angstiest stories I’ve posted on AO3. Just your average Midsummer fic with some necromancy and raising someone from the dead.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

They all have happy endings, but probably A lesson in love, which has a feel good ending, or Specialised in you where they get to a happy ending through some initial angst and drama. Feels even happier then, doesn’t it?

8. Do you get hate on fics?

None so far. Fingers crossed it stays that way. Nobody should have to deal with it.

9. Do you write smut?

Yesss. Whatever they end up doing, there’s usually an emotional connection there because that’s how I prefer to write intimate scenes. But ngl, half the time I'm pushing myself to get the words out because I still think "oh no, is this really awkward" but then I remember the post I saw here on Tumblr where an actual published novel had the cringiest smut I've ever seen, and I'm fine again. We've all got this!

Years ago I wrote a few HP crack fics together with others.

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

James/Sirius. (To quote Snape: Always. 💀) Almost from the start. Sometime before the fifth book came out I was completely into Prongsfoot. Not counting years.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?

I don’t post anything until I finish it first, so I have no hanging WIPs on AO3. But I have plenty in my WIP folder. I like to remain hopeful that I’ll end up writing them eventually. Not going to stress about anything.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I think I can come up with some nice plot ideas, funny and tense scenarios and good banter between J and S.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

My ability to finish fics and focus on one fic at a time has felt difficult lately. I don’t know why I seem to run out of steam when I have the last third left. Also descriptions are hard for me, partly because while I love how they set the mood and make the text more vivid, I’m always eager to just write what the characters are doing and saying to each other. Descriptions in English are especially hard because it’s my second language and I’m always guessing if what I write has the right nuance and tone etc.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language?

Sure, why not if it fits the story. I added a very minimal amount of French flavour to Fashion and hoped that no one would get too pissed off about it (mostly because of my poor attempt to write French English accent, not the actual French in there).

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Harry Potter. The first fic I ever posted as a teenager was a humour fic where Harry and his friends time travelled into the past and for some reason all the guys had to take part in a beauty competition (Mr Hogsmeade ’76) hahaha. This fic does not exist anywhere online anymore.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

Specialised in you is dear to me because it was not supposed to become at all what it is but James Potter took over the plot and I was a mere scribe at that point. Also I have a 20k Prongsfoot fic in Finnish that I haven’t translated into English yet but it’s the apple of my eye. I did a lot of research and put so much time and effort and all my Prongsfoot feels into it. It’s loosely inspired by the film Velvet Goldmine i.e. glam rock, glitter and S pining for J.

i was a HUGE wolfstar and jegulus fan but i’ve recently gotten into prongsfoot and now i don’t know if i can handle wolfstar and jegulus and not to mention i’ve loads of wips surrounding those two ships

Ughhhh the brain rot is SO real. What’s with those two and just taking over everything? They’re so obnoxious I swear. That being said, I see the prongsfoot agenda is working 👀👀 good, good.

Personally, I was never into jegulus (I feel it’s really hard to nail with James remaining in character. Plus, the fandom absolutely terrifies me) but I did like wolfstar for a bit, mainly as a background ship. But then I really started reading romantic prongsfoot, and I just… started noticing that it’s kinda common for both Sirius’ and Remus’ characterisations within wolfstar to not be ones I truly enjoy. And once I’ve noticed I can’t actually stop noticing, so that kinda sucks.

Prongsfoot fics scratch an itch for me: Remus is usually a fantastically snarky twat, Sirius is usually a competent, kinda fucked up badass who may be a bit dramatic but not too dramatic, and James is also there (which is enough for me bc I love him). Sometimes Regulus is another lovely addition. As long as there’s no Lily bashing, I’m in my happy place, lol. I sincerely hope you will manage to find that happy place too!!

(In regards to your WIPs, I think you’ve got a couple of options: simply leave them in your drafts, leave them in your drafts until your interest sparks again and you can finish them, select some scenes from multichapters as finished oneshots, or perhaps rework them to fit your interests. For the latter, jegulus is sometimes seen as Prongsfoot Lite, and there aren’t enough Slytherin!Sirius fics in this world; and Wolfstar works really well as platonic partners. There’s always a solution!)

What do you think of fics where Sirius is called mum in fics? I’ve read a few Prongsfoot fics, and a couple of them have Harry call Sirius mum because Sirius gave birth to him. I think it’s actually quite fitting and suits Sirius well. But what are your opinions on it? 

ooh i’ve never read any (would love it u have recs!! always on the lookout for more stuff 🙈) but i like that concept! i’ve read it another fandom (mainly omegaverse) where X calls a male character mum and i’m ngl, it’s one of my fav things. i have this…thing where i like gendered terms to be—de-genderified (that’s not a word but u get it lol) and this fits right into that. idk why but i really like mama for sirius? and mum for james? but yes!! pls gimme fics w this, i’d love it 🥰

so i actually don't dislike any of these, but i am still excited to rank them omg. also, i never intended to make a long ass list LMAO. it was supposed to be a small thing, but i got a little invested

wolfstar - i really do hate to be basic, but they'll always go right to the top for me <3

jily - it was very hard for me to put this here for some reason, but it had to be done. mainly because i am obsessed with every jily variant ever in sitcoms and stuff (if you squint, there'll always be a jily variant in a sitcom/comedy), plus they were the first ever couple i obsessively read ffs about a few years ago, so they really got me into fandom spaces

rosekiller - very superficially, i see them as wolfstar, but psychotic and slytherin and clinically insane. also, i love their canon story and how fucked up they are as people. i think the fandom really needed some nuance to it, and these characters very much bring it.

jegulus - love jeggy :) my babies. perfect trope tbh. theyre amazing and in love!

marylily - this one was actually very very hard. i dont knoww. i love dorlene and pandalily, but i feel that marylily is a bit closer to my heart. for so long i would have put pandalily before marylily, but i think because i've written marylily fanfics now, i feel like i know them very well. whereas pandalily is a little more distant from me. (overall though, i definitely enjoy the pandalily trope more)

pandalily - it kills me that i'm ranking dorlene so low, i know. but ugh. god. i love pandalily. theyre so adorbs. theyre so lovely. both pandora and lily as seperate characters are just so beautiful.

dorlene - love them. they're messy and yearning and intensely in love. they're two hearts pulsing to the same beat, but ripped out of their chest and bleeding. idk. theyre great. i love dorlene, though it actually took me a while to, bc when i first joined the fandom i was insanely invested in marylene. (still am)

bartylus - i think they're great, but i much prefer the one sided bartylus. barty yearning over regulus, but regulus being oblivious and far too gone for james.

prongsfoot - mmmm yeah. i understand why others might ship it, but i love them only as a friendship. that being said, they're very much my favourite friendship in the entire fandom, and god they just make me want to sob for hours.

If there was one thing that James loved about his relationship with Sirius, it’s that they’re equals in everything.  They’re always checking in and deciding things together, which is why he can’t help staring at Sirius blankly when he comes home from to work to announce that he quit his job.  

“You did what?” James asks, staring at Sirius blankly.

“I – I know that I should’ve talked to you … especially because I don’t have the savings fund that you do, but I just couldn’t take it anymore.”

“Take what anymore?” James asks, frowning.  “I thought you enjoyed being an Auror?”

“I did – I did, but ever since the end of the war, it feels different…” Sirius sighs, before going on and explaining everything.

How the Black name was tainted.  The fact is that most of the Blacks being part of the Death Eaters scared many of the aurors when it comes to working with Sirius.  Thus, Sirius has been mainly forced to do desk work rather than be given any cases to actually work.

“That’s not fair – they can’t discriminate against you.”

“You have to be able to trust your partner with a job like mine, be equals in the field and … no one trusts a Black.”

“I do,” James says.  “And besides, you won’t be a Black for much longer anyway.”  He points to the calendar, which has their wedding date circled at the end of the month.  “And they certainly didn’t mind during the war – seems strange to worry now.”

Sirius shrugs, “I asked around.  Apparently, they did but with so little resources, they couldn’t stick me to the desk and people had to suck it up.”

James sighs.  “Think they’ll change once you’re officially a Potter?”

“Doubt it,” Sirius states.  “Besides, I don’t really want to work with those kinds of people.  I’d much rather do something else.”

“Oh?  What’s that?”

Sirius hums.  “Promise you won’t laugh?”

“I would never,” James assures him.

“I’d like to open a motorbike repair shop,” Sirius admits.

James smiles.  “That’s so you – I love it.  And I’m a hundred percent on board with this.”

“Good,” Sirius grins.  “Then, can I show you the plans I’ve drawn up while chained to the desk?  I’d want you to be my equal partner in this so…”

“Of course.  I want to hear all about it.”

Sirius gives him a relieved smile before launching into his plans, “Well…”

Ooo this is an angsty one!! I’m a firm believer in James and Sirius clocking their feelings and figuring it out before they’re adults, but in this fic we stray a little.

This story is also my baby and in very excited about it, however it’s gonna take me ages to get out because Ive got severe writers block, so I’m gonna give you a lot to work with lol.

The story is primarily set when they’re about twenty two / three, bur also in their final year of school, but we get a lot of backstory and flash backs.

Basically, Sirius has been in love with James since they were very little kids. It’s a no magic au, so they met in kindergarten, along with the rest of the marauders. Sirius is very oblivious to his feelings growing up, he doesn’t notice them or anything because he’s just James. But then one summer comes, between eleventh and twelfth year and he and Remus start having a fling. Sirius pointedly ignores the fact that it’s a guy he’s fooling around with, and denies he’s gay, also denies his feelings for James that he’s suddenly faced with. Their fling is a complete secret, it kills sirius to not tell James but he’s too scared.

There’s so much internalised homophobia there, but also mainly because he doesn’t want James to figure out his feelings. Their fling stops at the end of summer and they go back to just being friends. As the summer ends, the fic begins.

The school was previously an all boys school, and the girls were on another campus. But for this year they merge. All the marauders are keen for that for many different reasons. James is very excited because he wants a girlfriend, Remus is excited because girls are just fun to be around and have genuine conversations about his interests, Peter’s excited because he too like the idea of having female friends but also aspires to be like James and have a girlfriend (even though he’s crushing hard on Remus), and sirius, well he’s not actually excited because it means he’ll have to watch James flirt with girls but he also doesn’t admit that.

He becomes fast friends with Marlene. They’re desk buddies, and each boy is assigned a girl to show around the school for the first week anyway like a buddy system, so they get along like a house on fire. James and Sirius are on the soccer team, as well as Marlene and Mary who are joining the practices weekly practices, this is where James sees the friendship between Marlene and Sirius really kick off. They often end up roughhousing and fighting for the ball, playing one on one, and teasing each other. James immediately thinks Marlene fancies sirius for it, and firmly believes sirius fancies her back and doesn’t believe sirius when he says he doesn’t.

James is very much getting his flirt on with Mary, which Marlene and Sirius both don’t like. So sirius buckles down and asks Marlene out anyway, and she grimaces and seems so disappointed because she really liked their friendship and then started having a go at him for being gross and getting close to her for perverse boy reasons and she also shouts at him that she’s a bloody lesbian for fucks sake. And sirius just immediately gained so much more respect for her, and he confesses James was on his back about it and je didn’t have a good enough excuse to not ask Marlene out. Marlene clocks him immediately, asking if he too is also in love with his best friend. Sirius denies everything, but she doesn’t believe him.

James and Mary start going out and Marlene and Sirius both hate it. They actively start ignoring and avoiding James and Mary because it hurts so much. Sirius eventually admits to Marlene, one night whilst drunk at a party where James and Mary are clearly doing inappropriate things up stairs, that his feelings for James might have run deeper than he intially lead on. They comfort each other.

At the end of the school year James and Mary break up, they tell everyone it’s mutual and it was just a highschool relationship. James tells Sirius something different though. It was pretty mutual, they were just having fun, but Mary wanted to explore her sexuality and was struggling with having feelings for Marlene, and he makes Sirius swear not to tell Marlene. Another secret he has to keep. If does his head in. But Marlene and Mary figure it out eventually.

Skip to their twenties, Sirius has come out to most of his friends, they all can tell he has feelings for James but he’s only ever told Marlene, and made it pretty obvious to Remus who has been a big help to him still. ALSO, he’s moved out and living with Reggie because THEIR relationship has a whole fun plot line that I can’t get into because this will be too long of a post lmao.

Everyone goes out drinking one night, and then they all go home to their partners, but James and Sirius wanna keep drinking so they go back to James’ and have a few beers by the pool. They start talking and James asks why Sirius has never let himself have a relationship, asks sirius if he is gay even though Sirius keeps promising him he isn’t, or asexual, or anything at all, James promises he’ll still love sirius no matter what obviously. He starts suggesting Sirius get on tinder, or if he had a crush on Mary or something. On and on and on and Sirius is so drunk, and James is so pretty, and he just kisses his very straight best friend.

Sirius runs away immediately, calls Marlene to come pick him up and he cries to her, and he cries to his brother and all his other friends that have come to console him. James apparently called Peter sobbing so remus and Peter went to help James, and it’s all a big big mess.

Eventually, after a few days of avoiding, Sirius has to go round the Potters because they’re having a renewal of their vowels. It’s there he sees James, and they’re both so awkward, and James lets him know he told his parents that he and Sirius briefly kissed and now it’s weird.

Sirius goes and finds Effie and Flea and comes out to them for the first time, because it’s kind of pointless not too now. He has a bit of a breakdown because they told him that they already knew, and they could see his feelings for James from a mile away and just wanted the best for him. Very big family moment there.

Anywayyyyy, I’m not gonna tell you anything else because I’m mean. But I love this fic so much and can’t wait to get it out to you :)))
