#making a game

found an older concept character that i drew for my senior game art and design class. we were tasked with creating our own games in groups and i remember my group coming up with, and i quote, “robot doing parkour for god”

the game was called “techtonyca gyardan” and it was a developmental… experience. that class had a bunch of lore honestly.

in the group, i was given the job of being the artist and (basically the) story director. have fun with this character, because i know i did.

Because I was interested in game development, I've started messing around with a simple text-based game engine (ink) and am making a simple game in German, aimed at A2-B2 German learners.

But it also made me think: That would be such a cool practice for my TLs too. Create a simple story as a game in Spanish instead!

It's a bit more dynamic than straight-forward writing a story and that makes it a lot more fun for me!

meet the official lineup for a game i plan to make called SOCIOPHOBIA, this will be inspired on my personal experience with trauma and how i've observed it in others. The main character will also have ASPD to reflect myself and have some better rep on ASPD in general![not everyone with it is a serial killer :((]

I have created *Character Design* fully custom with some advice from friends.

This is Sola. She's 17 and comes from planet J-122-C (Star is J-122, planet C or 3) . She's an evolved human. Most characters in Cipheriad are since from a scientific perspective humans *would* begin evolving on new planets.

Their hair is green since J-122-C is a heavily forested world and ancient human explorers evolved camouflage.

She is a big fan of 21st Century Video Games (as seen by the Hollow Knight T-Shirt) and if it wasnt for silksong coming out this year, wouldve been the character to say "Silksong year 8 billion for sure!" Though shes quite antisocial and doesnt really have many friends

Her twin sister is Lunah, who I havent designed yet but will be a very soical, friendly character with an upbeat personality and quite a lot of friends.

-its a play on words, Sola is a name referencing the sun which can represent daytime and happieness, while Sola herself is none of those. Lunah, referencing the Moon, has a more gloomy name but Lunah herself is more upbeat and social-

it is a grimdark darkest dungeon type thing where you a character roll a d6 and draw a playing card until you reach 15 cards then you draw from a deck of all the royalty and one joker until you finally beat it.

Okay big update:

Im changing the character sheet from digital to paper because the system I was using deleted any data a user inputed the seconed they closed the website (scratch I love you but you need a way for players to save thwir progress)

I have decided on how the skill tree works and how your level effects your skill

The only thing I have left to do for the character sheet is draw up an actual draft, figure out how many skill points you get when you start/level up, and refigure out starting equipment (its still set up for the old system)

With that said beta testing will be starting in the next couple weeks so this will be your last chance to sign up. Once I anounce the start of beta testing you will no longer be able to join the beta group.

How will the beta work?

I will message you about how to play and the supplies you need and ask you what part of the beta testing you want to do.

The options are...

Single player: I run a story you play as a character you design

Group: Im going to run a group of 4 to 5 people, you will have to join a discord and be okay with joining a vc (this one has limited space)

On your own: I'll send you information on how to play and run a game, you amd your friends then go play it on your own and send me feedback on what needs work (this testing will start after the first 2 so I can fix the more major problems before hand)

Game Help Wanted

More like needed lol, because I really, REALLY want to do something with this game I made in College, but I don't have a lot of skill in most game design departments (especially posting on social media GOD DAMN), nor do I have the assets for a lot of it.

Not only that but my mental health has me in a CHOKEHOLD, which has delayed all plans of getting the first chapter out by a year and probs more. I've actually only just gotten back into drawing recently, and what's worse for it is my situation changing in February, with me having to move to live with a friend before I'm ready to.

So, I'm trying to get back into doing things like this, in hopes of improving my mental health, and also finishing something I was (and still am) really excited about continuing.

So, anyway, I want (need) some help with this game. I need:

Artists (character, concept, design, background, etc.)

MAYBE separate background designers/artists (specifically 3D modelling, depending on if I prefer 3D backgrounds to hand-drawn.)

Animators

Sound effect and music designers

Programmers (Specifically skilled in Ren'Py and Python)

Editors, both video/image and audio

Writers

Voice Actors

Social Media helpers

Researchers and people who share the same cultures and/or religions as some of the characters in the game to yell at me if I get my research wrong (because I'm dyslexic and I really want all the representation to be as correct as possible)

And more, depending on if we find something we need help with but nobody can do it

I want to do a complete revamp of the game (save for the text boxes and some of the character designs, I like those lol) and to ESPECIALLY get rid of all the free assets.
