Dick Stusso. The original release - "Nashville Dreams/Sing The Blues" - that chronicled the travails of Dick Stusso was released on cassette by Vacant Stare. I was enthralled (and still am) by the sounds and story. Dick Stusso then released "In Heaven" - which was good but not nearly as interesting.
Now comes S.P. (Hardly Art), and the feel from the original album returns. The sounds are diverse and the story thread of Dick Stusso returns. But this time, the character is in a downward spiral.
Nic Russo (Oakland, California) is the genius behind this project. He's enlisted his father, Marc Russo (saxophonist for The Doobie Brothers), and has put together a great diversity of sounds and feels.
In 2016 I mentioned Bingo Trappers, John Lennon and The Nectarine no. 9 as touchstones. I still feel those apply, but maybe in the loosest of ways.
At the best EVAR Salvage-Thrift-Reuse Yard I heard The Sims Music Zaddys In The Wild!

About Buy/Build mode music in The Sims by Eric Hedman from comments:
The funnest thing about this music is that when they were making it there were several culture cultures on the crew and we were having trivia smack downs about where we had heard a similar song. It could have been interstitial music from Theater Shows, or TV, but both Jerry and Marc are students of commercial and not so commercial music. Some of the stuff is on the edge of cool, and then gets dragged back into the homey, consumerist, hokey, stuff they were fed as boomer children coming through the air at them. Jerry's commercials were known to me before I met him. Marc has played/toured with some pretty well known contemporary jazz and rock acts. A lot of the music is very similar to tunes and background music that came out of what were called "industrials" back in the middle of the last century. Our local historian of this stuff is actually Jello Biafra of the Dead Kennedy's who appears in this documentary called Bathtubs over Broadway.
Was John Philip Shenale a part of something like the Wrecking Crew? If he was, he probably had a couple of buddies he worked with. Look, I am not sure on whether or not he and Bill Wray are close, though I assume they sort of had a camaderie, since they both had a similar type of a career. Still, Mr. Wray tried to do his own solo material more often than Mr. Shenale. Therefore, we can find him playing on Mr. Wray's Seize The Moment, which could be seen as a formidable slice of the 80's rock. This is also a bad thing, because everything seems so shiny you have a hunch the entire things was made out of rejected parts from other musicians during the period. Sure, Mr. Wray knows what he's doing, yet he should be willing to bend the rule more to his whim.
so, if we hypothetically were to write this nurse!reader x dark-ish!mob!someone idea that i haven’t been able to stop thinking about all day, who should it be?
I apologize for all the times I’ve said “Coming this weekend” or “Will be posting tonight!” and all it’s other variants and then never followed through. It is always a great idea when I’m sitting at my desk at work, but when tired Kristen gets home, she always forgets

With her cover of “Cosmic Dancer,” Katie Jacoby accomplished the rare feat of staying true to the original while making the T. Rex song her own.
With double-tracked vocals and an effects-laden - perhaps backward - violin solo on the outro, Jacoby captures the essence of T. Rex/Marc Bolan and places it in the context of 2023.
I danced myself right out the womb … I danced myself into the tomb, she sings on her stand-alone single.
Backed by a string quartet and joined by Joe Russo’s Almost Dead bandmates Scott Metzger and Dave Dreiwitz (Ween), the Who’s touring violinist takes great care with what she calls “one of the most beautiful songs ever.”
Hope you all have a wonderful holiday, and to celebrate, I’ve decided to write seven one shots and release them one day at a time leading up to Christmas Day when I’ll release an x reader fic with a surprise character. 👀 I’ll post the first fic on December 19th!
Hope you enjoy! (I hope you like the Christmas card I made lol. It was hard to find a template that would fit everyone 😂)
Schedule
19: Darkling x reader (cookie decorating)
20: Bucky Barnes x Reader (ugly Christmas sweaters)
21: Six/ Court Gentry x Reader (decorating the tree and dancing to Christmas music)
Characters I Write Requests For (Updated June 5, 2023):
MASTERLIST // TAG LIST REQUEST
You can definitely send me a request for a character not on this list, but I won’t make any promises about writing it! This list will grow/change as I get more familiar with different characters, so stay tuned!
*˖ ⊹ “ shit, sorry. “ the moment the plastic water bottle eli had tossed towards the open garbage connected with marc’s shoulder, his face twisted in an apologetic smile. his shoulders crept towards his ears, and he ducked down so he could pick it back up. “ i didn’t miss. the wind grabbed it– the sun was in my eyes– something like that. “ twisting the bottle between his hands, he leaned back against his car, settling back to where he was sitting before. “ i was wondering when you were going to show up. where have you been hiding ? “ / MARC ( @bcnztruck )
I know I’ve been pretty inactive for a bit (or, what I consider inactive for a bit). Things have just been hard lately. I’ve had a lot going on, between entering our busy season at work, work-related drama, a lot of plan with friends, some health things, and everything else that just goes on with life, I’ve found myself tired and uninspired, and it’s also left me ashamed to come on here. I love to write, I do. And I love it when I see tags or reblog that someone loves what I’ve written as much as I do. But there’s times when I find myself about to click on the app and I wonder, “Why even come on here when I can’t contribute? When I don’t have any good ideas? When I don’t even feel the desire to write a single sentence to the ideas in my head?”
And I so want to be here, and I so want to write. But it’s almost become just another thing that I need to do when I already have no energy left to me. I know I shouldn’t compare myself and what I write to others, but I see all these wonderful fics on my dashboard by absolutely amazing writers, and it just feels like I can’t compare, and what I do just goes into a void of everything and nothing.
I guess this is just a long winded way of saying that I’ll come back to writing. I just don’t know when.
