How To Make A Market Wallet (medieval bag)
First, you’re going to get a rectangle of fabric that’s as long, and twice as wide as you want the bag to be. A nice big one is about 1.5 metres by 1 metre. The fabric should be something sturdy - a thick linen is probably most period-accurate, but a sturdy cotton drill works quite nicely.
You also want 2-4 little squares, about 1 to 1.5 inches. These are a surprise tool that will help us later.

First off, fold the rectangle in half across the width. Work out how big you want the pockets of the bag to be, and pin on both sides (I usually fold lengthwise to get similar proportions). Make sure to leave a good amount of space in the middle, as this will become your opening.

It should now look like this.

Next, backstitch from the ends up to where you’ve pinned, leaving a slit in the centre.

Fell the seam by cutting one side of the seam allowance down by half, folding the other side around it, and securing with a whipstitch (this stops it from fraying AND creates a very strong seam).
(Sorry for the bad lighting I was in the car).

Next, fold the bag so the seam is in the centre. This is almost what the finished bag will look like.

Sew along the ends with more backstitches, and fell the seam. We’re nearly done!

Then you wanna hem the centre slit. I rolled the fabric over twice, and whipstitched into place.
Next, you want those little squares of fabric. At each end of the opening slit, you’re going to position them diagonally, with their edges folded inward. I like to do one on the front and reverse sides (so 4 squares total), but you might be able to get away with just 2. Whipstitch these into place. They will stop the slit ripping open (this is a real problem).

Well done, your bag should be finished!! Wear it by folding it across the centre slit, twisting it slightly, and slinging it over your shoulder. It is best to weight the sides fairly evenly, but I’ve never found this to be too difficult. The wide “strap” does make it very comfortable though.
Feel free to comment/reblog, or send an ask if you have any questions, or I haven’t made anything quite clear enough! The photo limit makes it difficult to show every step as it happens unfortunately. I am considering doing some video tutorials in future for a couple of my bigger projects (likely hosted on YouTube with the link sent here). Let me know if you’re interested!

Tutorial: How-To Create Striking Gradient Shapes & Waves for Adobe Illustrator for iPad
In this tutorial, we will explore step-by-step instructions and tips to create striking gradient waves and shapes that can enhance any project, from digital illustration to web design and marketing materials.
Starting off you'll want to open Adobe Illustrator on your iPad, and select 'custom size'.
Create a canvas that measures at 3000 x 3000 points.
Set the colour mode as 'RGB'.
Select the 'Pencil' tool, and then select 'Paint Brush'.
Select 'Calligraphic' brushes, and scroll down until you find the 15 pt. 'Round' brush and select it.
Select the 'Fill' option and set the colour value to none.
Select the 'Stroke' option and set the colour value to a colour of your choosing.
Select the 'Smoothness' option and set it to the maximum value (10).
Draw a wavy line.
Select the 'Stroke' tool and choose a new colour.
Draw another wavy line over the top of the previous.
Select the 'Stroke' tool and choose another new colour.
Draw another wavy line over the top of the previous two.
Select the 'Selection' tool.
Select all of the shapes.
Select the 'Repeat' tool.
Within the 'Repeat' tool, select the 'Blend' option.
Tip: If you have a keyboard connected to your iPad, you can use the keyboard shortcut 'Command+Alt+B' when objects are selected to blend them.
Now our gradient wave shape has been created!
Once the shapes have been blended, you can manipulate the spacing of each shape with the three dots in the middle, each one represents each of the lines.
Move each point around until you feel comfortable with their spacing.
We may want to make some alterations to our shape such as changing the rotation, shape, size, order of lines. Here’s how we can do that.
Select the 'Selection' tool.
Drag and select the shape.
Select the 'Object' tool.
Select the 'Release' option.
Now the objects are unblended they can be altered or manipulated to our liking.
To put our gradient wave back in place, first select the 'Repeat' tool.
Then select the 'Blend' option.
Congratulations on completing the tutorial on creating striking gradient waves and shapes in Adobe Illustrator for iPad! You've taken significant steps in enhancing your design skills, learning how to apply gradients effectively, and bringing your digital artwork to life with vibrant colours and dynamic forms.
Keep Practicing - As with any creative skill, practice is key to mastery. Continue experimenting with different gradient combinations, wave patterns, and shapes. Find new ways to enhance your designs.
The more you practice, the more confident and proficient you will become.

DID they try to scratch under his chin?? 👀
Took them weeks of hanging out in Dream's library and being deeply embarrassed and flustered by themselves until Techno got the guts to do it (apparently he and Dream were very close on his part life)
The purr that explodes out of Dream. He sounds like a boat engine. Techno immediately likes this guy like 20 times more. Who cares about possible conspiracy and blood money, this man is purring like a tiger on his lap
Philza gets to be the first one to scratch right over the base of his tail, (or at least where it should be) and then they never do that again because Dream purring and pushing into Philza's hand and basically presenting himself in the process was a little much for them both
(And by never do it again I mean Techno does it later that afternoon)
#the dog barks#the voices#dreblr#techza#dreamzablade#Dream is not really into any shady bullshit btw#hes just playing minecraft#where does his money come from? he sells stuff to local restaurants and markets#he trades with piglins and then sells the wares he doesn't need#how did he get rhe castle? he found a tutorial and built it

it is healing to come onto this blog and see basic respect for diasbility after being in other corners of the fandom and reading the words “snowkit could never be a warrior because he wouldnt know what anything is. he wouldnt even know what a clan is because nobody could explain it to him” said in full seriousness
Im..... That statement is so ableist I cannot even imagine the worldview you'd need to have in order to come up with that.
They really think the only way anyone learns anything is through verbal-speaking-words-noises? No one has ever observed something before? Not even once?
This is beyond touching grass, this person just fell out of the fucking Jurassic Period when all they had was ferns and stegosaurs.
I just...
OH YES. I remember my first day of Society Lessons as a hearing person, where the everything was explained to me. Via Audiobook. FIRST they spoke and said, "you are standing on the ground." It was a life changing revelation, and the world began to spin.
But it did not stop.
THEN they said, "there are fingers on your hands." The sensation of flesh and bone crackling into existence is indescribable, but I did not yet know pain, until they told me, "that hurts." I began screaming immediately.
And yet... it continued.
They explained so much. Chairs. Tables. Walls. The sky. Frogs. Ionizing radiation. Breathing. I was told all of it, in one sitting, and only then did I understand. Only when my ears were bursting with normal hearing knowledges, did they begin... my final test.
A strange wall-chair-finger emerged from the sky-of-the-wall, stood on the ground several times, until it was in front of me. A second one came behind it, this one slimmer. The audiobook gave these things names;
Human. Father. Mother. Door. Walking. It was completely impossible to know what these things were until that very moment.
I watch a human dip a hook into water and produce a fish, and I recall my Society Lessons where they called that "fishing." I am decked in the face by a nefarious hooligan, and I have only the audiobook to thank when I know I have been "punched" by a "bad guy." It was only the magic of verbal-speaking-words-noise that made me understand that there are "other people" and that they "do stuff."
Sometimes, even, in "groups."
Before the Society Lessons Audiobook, I knew nothing. I was pure, innocent, uncorrupted by concepts such as "parents" and "door." I am grateful every day that there is no such concept as "being shown things" or "simple logical reasoning" or "looking."
Blessed be those amongst us who escape the horrors of the Society Lessons Audiobook. I pray that you never learn what anything is. Be free! Free as a bird, which also knows nothing and famously cannot learn. 🤗
DEAF/HOH FOLLOWERS I'm losing my mind do you want me to bump a 'Hearing Disabilities Herb Guide' to the top of my priorities? Something you can use to bludgeon whackadoodles like that. This is ridiculous
Obviously not a MEDICINE guide but like; common causes of hearing disability in clan cats. Accommodations for hearing loss vs congenital deafness. Actual difficulties of not having that sense Clan-by-Clan. Debunking of misconceptions like... not being able to learn APPARENTLY.
#bone babble#Fennelposting#Obviously the answer is 'theyre incapable of THINKING' but like... they do know snow has a line right#In the book. He figured out. A word. Through observation.#He says 's'all right' because he knows it calms ppl down#He did not need to hear the magic words 'You can make noises at others to influence them'#Like a fucking tutorial tip#Im going to start keeping a JOURNAL of ''times people have been weird about snowkit specifically''#Ableism#cw ableism#I could also link to the pawspeak thing so it's all in one place#I wrote this last night and put it in the queue and I laid awake thinking of this...#What do they think happens when someone goes to another country where things aren't written/spoken in a language they know?#Do they think they wouldn't be able to figure out anything? Do they think the tourist would just perish#Would they collapse in the streets of Berlin sobbing?#Happened to me. Went to England and they called it a Car Boot Sale instead of a Flea Market and I died to death#AND if I did make that guide please tell me if there's any other weird misconceptions you need to see in it#I know that ONE of them is going to have to be that. like. deaf people make noise.#theyre actually quite loud because they don't know they're making noise#and people with hearing loss do not suddenly forget how to speak.#and people born deaf dont talk like cavemen#cw body horror#tw body horror#EDIT: OOPS sorry I have such an astonishingly tolerance for body horror I did not realize that counted as body horror

Building a following:
are you fr kienn?
… 500 total across several platforms
but it's over the span of 2 months, and on new accounts, and your mileage may vary
very niche dependent (am a queer horror writer)
some platforms are more queer friendly than others
more under the cut
Here I will share some tips breaking down my experience with social media marketing for my writing.
Across all platforms:
have a consistent posting schedule!
more posts = more exposure
but consistency is most important.
i do 3 posts a week
interact with the community!
the most response i get is from networking
most writers are also readers!
following people and following back
engaging with posts (comments and reposts are more impactful than likes, connecting with the content)
community benefits:
peers with similar interests
observe what other successful accounts are doing
tips, trends, support groups
Between platforms:
the quality of interaction varies
the type of content varies (text vs images)
take time to learn
Video and image posts:
throwing your content out into the wild
instagram:
stats:
3k views/month
5-20 interactions a post
linked to threads, most of the time my threads followers channel to my instagram
schedule posts!
video content: the shorter the better, have a strong hook in the first seconds
image content: carousels with lots of slides
hashtags don't matter as much, though they help you show up through search
audio is a tool, choose wisely
share stuff on stories so it's seen, and promote fellow authors in the community
comments help alot, ask friends to help with engagement!
tiktok:
stats:
100 views before dropping to 0
some queer hashtags are banned
can use same content as instagram
scheduling on desktop only…
i don't use it much
Text posts:
more community engagement!
replying and reposting
threads:
stats:
5-20 interactions a post
linked to instagram
relatable text posts do well
keywords matter more than tags, incorporate words like "book" "author" "writer" etc naturally
lots of threads call for replies with similar interests or promotion, a great opportunity to share yourself and find similar authors, community rallying posts
reply to and repost fellow authors!
bluesky:
stats:
5-10 interactions a post
feeds are customized timelines that use tags and keywords
use feeds to find your community
i have a queer writers feed on my account (to avoid filtering issues include "author" in your bio!)
make sure your posts are seen in feeds by incorporating keywords naturally, and include tags or the emoji-tags, #booksky and 📚💙, etc
having images to go with your text helps, and including alt text
find tags like #queerprompts or #wipsnips, where the community shares their work and wip snips!
follow feeds, reply to and repost fellow authors!
twitter:
stats:
~50 views a post
0-3 interactions a post
most follows are follow backs
the search function is terrible, as is the algorithm
lots of bot impersonators, block unsolicited DMs
throw your posts into the void, don't expect much interaction
image posts do best, as do trends. show you're not a bot? 😭
go through follow lists and tags to find community
tags like #agentsguide #amquerying help to find other writers
reply to and repost fellow authors
tumblr:
stats:
~ 1-10 interactions a post
blogging and text posts, most personal
use lots of tags
do tag games, trends, share wips
reply to and reblog fellow authors, leave comments in tags!!
SUMMARY
Find community
Interact, give and recieve
Reply and Repost
Follow and follow back
Use keywords
Use hooks, short attention spans
Thanks for reading!
This is from my personal experience. Your mileage may vary... Give it a try and see what works for you and your niche! and you can follow me @kiennwrites !

Y'all I'm about 40% done with the largest project I've endeavored to date

(My hand for scale)
This will eventually become a market bag. And I know what you're probably thinking. You're probably thinking "But Snowy, this seems like a reasonable WIP, especially if it's your only current one?" but don't worry! I have, in a very accurate assessment of my abilities, started 2 other WIPs!

The granny squares will eventually be a blanket (I'm planning it to be ~270 squares or thereabouts) and are a scrap yarn project and the eyeball will be finished into a beanie 😊
#snowy irl#crochet wip#crochetblr#snowy crafts#in case you all were wondering what sorts of shenanigans I get up to irl#it's mostly projects that are equal parts reward and punishment#the beanie is so i can explain how to make one for a friend of mine#and i can put that up if anyone wants it#i can also link the tutorials for the market bag and granny square patterns if anyone is curious#have i made a bag before? yes but netting is way more work per row. so this is the biggest project to date

I've pretty much stopped watching most of ArtTube. Even taking out corporate sponsorships it seems like most of the content these days are just shilling out ("reviewing") the latest Cool art supplies in the same way I feel like the latest smartphone is constantly being shilled to me
Also the rest of the content is just copying other prominent ArtTubers, and not even in a collab way. ABC does this challenge and so QRS and XYZ and do it a week or two later, but at least when LMNOP does it they claim they already were in the process of doing this challenge when ABC suddenly uploaded their video and isn't that funny guys? Anyway then EFG releases a new challenge for themselves and then the cycle repeats. It gets tedious once it's pointed out to you.
#nowadays when i do watch art stuff I'm just watching earnest tutorials (mostly but not always by small youtubers)#story time art sessions#or random sketchbook tours by unheard of people genuinely excited to share their stuff#if i feel like I'm being told to buy this latest art supply or haul then i immediately tab out#like i get it being a shill and marketable is about the only way to make it on YouTube but that doesn't mean i have to watch it#i have better things to do than be advertized to by people who desperately don't want you to realize you're being advertized to
